Speaker 3 (07:40):
Houston's Morning News continues with Jimmy Barrett, Joe Yo. What's up?
Five all waitters? Our time here in Houston's Morning News.
Right November inflation numbers are in and as you can imagine,
inflation is up two point seven percent overall for the
monk bed target of two percent of gout. Not there yet,

(08:01):
I mean it's not nine point one percent like it
was in June of twenty twenty two, but it's still
pretty dog on high. So what is driving the way?
What are what are the biggest inflators of that two
point seven percent? Looks like groceries food is towards the
top of the heap on that one. Let me find
the figure for that consumer price index up two point

(08:22):
seven percent in November from a year ago. Grocery inflation
jump from a point one percent monthly reading in October
two point five percent in November. For context, a consistent
CPI reading of about zero point two percent each month
would generally be in line with the target inflation, so
it's about double what it needs to be in order

(08:46):
to hit that two percent annual growth. Egg prices up
eight percent in November from October. That's in one month.
They're up thirty eight percent in the past year. I'm
guessing more bird flu problems. Probably. Additional categories such as transportation, healthcare,
and shelter have also been trouble spots. Vehicle prices in

(09:08):
airfare are up, and they are big components of the
transportation category. Their recent inflationary bouts are likely to be
short lived. We are told, I don't know car prices
and vehicle prices that have been going out for quite
a while, haven't they. Airfare has not been dropping in
a long time, so I don't know about how short
lived that's going to be. New vehicle prices up zero

(09:29):
point six percent from October to November according to the
CPI data. Car insurance rose zero point one percent during
that period, but it's up thirteen percent over last year,
so there you go. It's some of the things that's
driving the higher inflation numbers. Five ten. Time for traffic
and weather together. Sky Mike is here. It's jolly out there,
sky Mike. I'm a Houston native. This is cold to me, Terry.

(09:52):
Let's check out this problem on the hard work and
east side. I've got tipline seven one three two one
two tips dude, Good morning, sky Mike. East bound, I
can just past the west Loop at fed Roa.

Speaker 21 (10:05):
He got some police activity.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
Police activity in East Houston that never happens.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
It's got it backed up to the blood plan. All right,
that's outbound.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
We're calling it mercury and actually Transwil's calling that a
stalled truck. Either way, it's scooching up both the East
Freeway right under six ten, also messing up the ramps
coming down from the coming down from the truck stops
on the Southwest Freeway where a winter wonderland northbound from
the Razzis River, that's easy twenty six minutes Golf Freeway.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
It says cold is ice. It's not that cold, but
it's chilly.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
It's twenty one from twenty one minutes from NASA Road
one up into downtown and coming in from the frozen
tundra of the North Freeway. I forty five twenty three
minute what twenty three minutes from Sawdust? And I'm skylike
exaggerating and the Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
Not exaggerating by much. From mark me TRH tax Defenders
twenty four hour Weather Center. It is cold out there
this morning.

Speaker 5 (11:00):
It is. It's colder than it was yesterday.

Speaker 22 (11:05):
A lot of places in the thirties, low thirties this morning.
Galveston forty seven. Okay, so everybody's in the thirty six
EPs for Galiston.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Well yeah, a Conroy, I see thirty three and Conros
so they're pretty close to freezing.

Speaker 5 (11:20):
They'll probably got thirty degrees right now.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Oh really yeah? Wow.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Well, anyhow, it is chilly.

Speaker 22 (11:26):
It's a bundle up kind of morning, but the temperatures
will be warming up over the next couple of days,
so sky Mike will get a chance to defrost.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
Just get three today.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Thank you, you're welcome. I want to see my words
tomorrow morning.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
You see your words?

Speaker 22 (11:42):
All right, So today should be a little bit warmer
later on. We've got southerly wins that's going to help
us out. Mid deumber sixties today, really nice day. We've
got some rain heading our way starting tomorrow into the weekend.
It's a thirty percent chance of showers tomorrow, so not
like a wash out.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
Now.

Speaker 22 (12:01):
Our temperatures mid sixties to low seventies, and Saturday a
fifty percent chance of thundershowers low to mid seventies. Saturday,
even warmer Sunday and Sunday at thirty percent chance of rain.
Temperature Sunday mid to upper seventies.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Right down thirty seven at your official severe weather station,
NINIS Radio seven forty k TRH. It's Houston's Morning News,
brought to you by New South Windows Solutions. Now back
to Jimmy Barretts and the Houston Morning News team all
the info you need. Did take on the day hearing
in the House yesterday about these drones, these mystery drones

(12:37):
over New Jersey. Now they're popping up in Philadelphia, and
they're popping up around military bases. They're popping up around
Trump's Trump National Golf Course in New Jersey. Bring up
which one that is? Which one they call that one?
They're just popping up all over the place, and nobody
knows who's responsible. Some of them are as Vegas a

(12:58):
school bus. So the latest on that story is coming
up next. First though, at five twenty, let's do traffic
and whether we're together. Something you know they can put
like goodyear or something. Usually get spotted, they turn the
lights off. What does they tell you? Sky?

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Okay, what happens in that drone stays there? Let's go
to the work inside here, Jack City, Yo, what's up,
shiny wheels. It looks like you're back to full speed now.
The official sources are still showing that stall there, but
it has gone on the outbound It ten just past
the bud plant at six ten East and the rest
of our freeways for right now rocking along tip line

(13:31):
that's here seven one three two one two tips because
once that shoe does drop, KTRH.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Listeners will be the first to know what's going on.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
I'm Skymike on the Generator Supercenter dot Com Traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
From r KTRH top tax Defenders twenty four hour Weather
Center Sunday Departley Cloude with the high today about sixty
five claude slight chance of a rain shower sixty seven tomorrow,
warm for the weekend, will be in the mid toupper
seventies with scattered showers and storms on both Saturday and Sunday.
Right down thirty seven at your official severe weather station,
News Radio seven forty KTRH, we're checking out some of

(14:03):
our top stories. Here's clip, Thank you Jimmy.

Speaker 5 (14:06):
Headlines are sponsored by Texas Mutual Insurance and Amberillard is
discontinued for an all dean. Sixteen year old Nancy our
Getta Vasquez was found. No other details given. Four people
are injured after a plane hit three cars at a
Victoria intersection yesterday, and a record one point five million
cruise passengers went through the Port of Galveston this year.

(14:28):
At the latest News anytime at KTRH dot com. Our
next update is at five thirty Better.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Boulder, Richard, safer and stronger, the return the Great of
America can come back on news Radio seven KTRH.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
So we have these unidentified flying objects known as drones.
Some of them are pretty big, thick as a car
if you've been spotted, maybe as big as a school bus.
They're flying over the guys in a variety of places,
New Jersey being one of those places, right next to
New York City. I'm sure that. I mean, what in

(15:08):
the world could they be doing there? I mean, who
are they being flown by, who do they belong to,
who are they reporting to? What is the purpose? So
the House the House met yesterday and they had their
one of their committees met about to talk about these
mysterious drones in New Jersey. And the FBI is testifying basically,

(15:29):
we don't know, and so THEI is testifying about, you know,
what they don't know or what they're not telling us
about these drones. Also some reaction to this one from
Rebecca Heinrich. She's with the Hoover Institute, she's a senior fellow.
There is public safety at risk?

Speaker 23 (15:45):
Are we concerned that there are nefarious intentions that could
cause either national security or a public safety incident that
would put Americans at risk?

Speaker 24 (15:54):
There's nothing that is known that would lead me to
book to that.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
But we just don't know.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
And that's the concerning part.

Speaker 16 (16:03):
You're telling me we don't know what the hell these
drones are in New Jersey?

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Are Is that correct? That's right, that's crazy.

Speaker 25 (16:12):
I mean, that's crazy, that's madness that we don't know
what these drones are.

Speaker 26 (16:16):
What can you tell us, what is going on and
why is the tickets so long to come up with
the next lineage.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Yeah, that's a good I don't blame people for being frustrated.
It's really frustrating that we don't have more answers as
to where they're coming from and why they're doing what
they're doing.

Speaker 27 (16:31):
Well, this is incredibly frustrating because we have known that
this country is very vulnerable to spy balloons, to drones,
to missile strikes for a long long time. So we've
been beating this drum. Congress has been beating a strum
for a long time. Fundamentally, I think that the problem
here is that nobody at the very top of government
is saying, you're in charge, it's your job to fix this.

(16:53):
Because you have Northern Command that's the military component, and
then you have Department of Homeland Security, and then you
have the FAA, which does all of the regulations, that
has to make decisions about who needs to do what.
And of course the Northern Command believes that they have
the authority to protect military basis, But what about critical infrastructure?
What about the rest of the American people who are
looking up with these massive uass You know, I can't

(17:14):
speak directly with knowledge about this particular incident, but I
would speculate from an informed perspective that that actually the
government probably does have an idea about who is doing this.
But if they say who is doing it, that will
require them to have a response, and they are not
prepared with a response, which is why we continue to
get the answer that we don't know. But they seem

(17:35):
too big to be hobbyists. They do seem to be
coming from a foreign power.

Speaker 3 (17:39):
Yeah, i'd be hobby Like I said, hobbyists does not
running or drone as big as a school bus under
no circumstances. I mean, it's not some kid in the
backyard somewhere doing this. It's foreign adversaries. Probably maybe some
of the Chinese, you know, the same you know, the
same country that gave us the spy balloon. Maybe we've
got some people who crossed the border. We know, we

(18:02):
had just a few people from China crossing the border
illegally into the United States. Maybe that's what they're doing.
There's you know, under the best of circumstances, they're spying,
and may maybe they're spying for for two reasons. Number one,
to gather whatever information they want to gather in number

(18:22):
two to see how we respond. Well, I think we've
shown them how we respond like a bunch of idiots.
So we should not feel very good about this, and
there has to be I refuse to believe, you know,
it's like the excuse that you know, Secret Service gave
us about the Trump assassination tip. I refuse to believe

(18:43):
that our government is that incompetent, that there's nobody within
the confines of the US government or the state and
federal government that doesn't know exactly what's going on with this,
or at least have some pretty good idea what's going
on with this. Five twenty six, It is time to
take a look at your money as we check in
again with Jeff Bellenu and Jimmy good Morning.

Speaker 28 (19:02):
Stocks were mixed at the end of the midweek session.
The Dow closed two tenths percent lower, but the Nasdaq
rallied one on three quarters percent. The S and P
five hundred gained eight tenths percent. The November Consumer price
Index made investors more confident that the Federal Reserve will
trim interest rates by another quarter point when policymakers meet
next week. There were no surprises in the CPI. Shares

(19:26):
of Adobe fell nine percent, and after hours trading yesterday,
the creative software maker issued a sales outlook that disappointed investors.
The report raised concerns that Adobe could lose market share
to artificial intelligence startups. The government's latest reading on wholesale
inflation will be out before the markets open this morning,
and President elect Donald Trump will ring the opening bell

(19:48):
at the New York Stock Exchange. Futures are lower at
the moment. I'm Jeff Bellinger, Bloomberg Business on News Radio

I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories of this half hour,
Houston area SAT scores is still dropping, homeschoolers more likely
to keep their faith, and coming up at five thirty eight.
Someone is posting wanted posters in New York City for

(20:33):
other healthcare officials. Details in the minutes ahead here on

Speaker 4 (20:41):

update on the forecast, and we'll find out how quickly
we're going to start warming up tomorrow we start warming
up a little bit more, but especially this weekend. We'll
talk to her in about eight minutes. Temperature right now

(21:36):
is thirty seven and your official severe weather station, News
Radio seven forty KTRH. It's time down for the news.
Here's Cliff Sanders.

Speaker 5 (21:45):
Thank you, Jimmy five thirty two. Our top story, Your
kids in their education. Just an area schools are seeing
SAT scores drop once again over the last few years.

Speaker 8 (21:56):
Many of them are are beginning to require SAT's again.
In the question is it's not the siit what we
really have to know how to measure what our kids
are learning, or, as you're seeing from these results in Houston,
what the kids are not learning.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
Senior fellow with the Texas Public Policy Foundation, Sherry Sylvester,
says scores have been dropping ever since the COVID lockdowns
of four years ago. Hope for the future, though, new
research shows that homeschool and Christian school graduates are far
more likely to keep their.

Speaker 30 (22:28):
Faith, something that writer Joy Pullman pointed out for the Federalist.

Speaker 16 (22:33):
Schooling absolutely has a strong secularizing effect on children.

Speaker 30 (22:38):
Doctor Lynn Swater is the president of Cartis, which conducted
the study.

Speaker 31 (22:43):
Consistently, graduates from constant Christian schools and from homeschooling have
better outcomes in the state formation domain.

Speaker 30 (22:52):
Almost thirty percent more compared to those from public schools.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Jeff Biggs News Radio seven.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
Katie, Thank you. Jeff gen Z is complaining once again.
This time they're upset that negative stereotypes about their work
ethic is hurting their careers a misconception. According to some,
They're feeling like.

Speaker 32 (23:13):
Oh, you're just going to work me to death and
burn me out, and I don't even have a say
in that that could just stay with your company. So
a lot of them are looking for work right now,
and they say that the majority that we're going to
leave with their current job in the next twelve months.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
That's the Alan Manning with destination workplaces. Gen Z just
thinks they work harder, or rather work smarter, not harder.
Now they may work smart, but they're not so smart
with their money.

Speaker 26 (23:40):
New numbers show it's the younger generation who's increasingly turning
to credit cards and accumulating debt at a faster rate
than their parents. Senior writer for Bank Rate Katie Kilton
says eighteen to twenty four year olds just think differently
about money.

Speaker 19 (23:53):
They're more willing to dine out, go to live entertainment
like concerts, and travel, even if they're already carrying debt
or are willing to take on debt for those things.

Speaker 26 (24:03):
Experts warn that this early reliance on credit could harm
their financial futures, leading to lower credit scores and long
term financial problems.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Eric Sharp, News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
Thanks Eric, and inflation remains a problem despite the White
House spin of zero point three percent last month, up
two point seven percent year over a year. Still, the
Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates next week.

Speaker 33 (24:28):
We have a pretty good labor market, we have accelerating inflation,
and we're going into rate cut. That's kind of very,
very confusing, but I think in terms of what is
the framework that they're operating on.

Speaker 5 (24:38):
The former White House Economic Advisor Thomas Phillipson on Fox Business,
this would be the third rate cut this year. In Washington,
the man charged with physically attacking Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace
pleads not guilty, James McIntyre charged with assaulting a government official,
and the man charged with trying to assassinate President elect

(24:59):
Trump in in September back in Florida was in court yesterday.

Speaker 34 (25:03):
Ryan Ruth public defenders are asking for a delay of
about ten months. That's because they just have so much
digital evidence to comb through.

Speaker 21 (25:10):
They say.

Speaker 34 (25:10):
The current trial date of February tenth, that's set right now,
they say is rust especially since Ruth faces life in

Dana Marie McNichol reporting the President elect's cabinet picks continued
to make the rounds on Capitol Hill, meeting with senators
ahead of confirmation hearings next month.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
They're coming in.

Speaker 35 (25:34):
They've been very open and candid and subjecting themselves to
lots of questions from lots of senators from different parts
of the country who have different perspectives on these issues
and want to hear from them about their vision for
the jobs that they've been nominated for.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Incoming Senate Majority Leader John Toon of South Dakota, the
Air Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegsith, was on the Hill yesterday.
New CNN polling shows that nearly seventy percent I think
Trump will be able to quote bring change to the country,
with fifty five percent approving of how he's handled the transition.
Despite that, there are still Republicans backing the bipartisan no

attend their conference in Washington today.

Speaker 36 (26:19):
Americans saw during the Biden Harris regime what the left
has to offer, and they rejected those ideas. They rejected
those ideas decisively.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Political strategies of lad davidiasays Gonzales should tread carefully because
voters are paying attention, and Time magazine will reportedly name
Trumpet's Person of the Year today. That would be the

So a whole bunch of wanted posters targeting healthcare executives
are popping up in New York City. I mean, there's
millions of crazy people in New York City, So I
guess it shouldn't completely shock us about this. But just

(27:55):
to give you an idea what the mindset of the
progressive left as it relates to. You know, executives who
make lots of money and generate high profits for their companies.
They don't like capitalism, so they don't like anybody who
is practicing capitalism to this to this extreme. I guess
in being so successful, they don't they don't like that.

(28:17):
They don't like that at all. Who is it? Oh,
Elizabeth Warren. I saw Elizabeth Warren. She was on MSNBC,
And I'm paraphrasing here, but basically she said, you know,
we value human life, but you know you can only
push people so far. So so she's basically saying that
the murder of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson's justified because

(28:41):
you can only push people so far. So these other
wanted posters have other executives from other healthcare companies. Looks
like the healthcare companies are going to have to be
beefing up on security.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Here.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Here's here's what one of the wanted posters these. By
the way, they also put up wanted posters of Brian
Thompson and drew an X through his face because he's
been eliminated. But his poster said United Healthcare killed the
people every day for the sake of profit. As a result,
Brian Thompson was denied his claim to life. Who will
be denied? Next Wall Street CEO should not feel safe,

(29:18):
deny defend Depoe's So, somebody's putting this one and they
look professionally done. Somebody's putting these posters up there looking
for whoever that is. But my guess is it's not
one person. My guess is it's an organization of individuals.
Is this the next thing we're going to see coast
to coast assassinations of executives who these people deem make

(29:41):
too much of a profit for their companies. Driving and
weather together, we're checking out that drive again. Here's guy Mike.
Let's check on your belts and loops.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
First of all, we don't have the usual subjects for
this time. At the north Sam at Aldane Westfield. That
comes a little later. That's a left line missing man.

check another tipliner, right, what's up a skuy Mike.

Speaker 38 (30:39):
I know how to devolve the problem with all these drowns.
A day's put out an all points the bullets into
all hundreds, go out to aber target practice.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
Pol I'm in the classic Buick GMC traffic center.

Speaker 3 (30:52):
You might need more than a shotgun to take down
something of the size of a school bus, but I
appreciate the efforts from our katrh Generator supercent twenty four
hour weather center. Terry's here, and yeah, it is cold
this morning, thirty six degrees now at the airport.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
Yeah it's chili.

Speaker 22 (31:07):
Well, if this is a little too chilly for your taste,
good news is it's not going to last past today.
The southerly winds kick in today and that means some
warmer weather, also a little more humidity, and eventually some rain.

Speaker 5 (31:20):
But that's okay, we'll deal with the rain.

Speaker 22 (31:22):
Today's a gorgeous day and slightly warmer than yesterday, mid
to upper sixties. Tomorrow's when we start to get summrate.
It's only a thirty percent chance of getting wet. Fifty
percent chance of those showers and thunderstorms Saturday, thirty percent,
chance of more raine Sunday, sixty percent, chance of getting
wet on Monday. Temperatures in the low seventies starting tomorrow,

(31:45):
and then getting even warmer in the mid to upper
seventies by the end of the weekend early next week.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
Right now, thirty six, as I said at your official
weather station, news radio seven forty KTIH, what you need
to know for the day head. This is Houston's morning News,
brought to you by New South Windows Solutions. So the
Senate held a hearing yesterday on mass deportations. No, it

(32:12):
wasn't done by Republicans, it was the The meeting was
chaired and run by Democrats. There were our Republicans on
the committee. One of them is Senator John Kennedy. So
he'll talk about how that meeting went in just a moment.
First though, at five pointifty, let's do a little traffic
and weather together. We're checking out that drivee once again
with Skymine. All right, do we have a guest here, Jimmy,

(32:33):
we do not.

Speaker 4 (32:34):
Okay, let's go to the Northwest Freeway here. Let's talk
about Roy. Roy, what's up doing.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Good morning, Sky, Mike Dude, yea rod ninety Yeah, it
is clear.

Speaker 16 (32:43):
Gords Cyprus looked good.

Speaker 4 (32:45):
All right, It's it's pretty nordic out there. Let's go
to Mike for Magnolia. I think he's a little further out.

Speaker 3 (32:50):
Mike Sky, Mike Dude.

Speaker 38 (32:52):
Inbound just before Skinner, there's a big up truck on
a flat bed trailer going about twenty miles an hour
with the flashers on center lane. I guess everybody swerving
the morning. He doesn't have any indengers of going over
in off the freeway. It looks like another.

Speaker 3 (33:08):
Stations listener there.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
Mike from Magnolia banana sticker for you and Roy too,
and can we get somebody in law enforcement to pull
that guy over?

Speaker 3 (33:16):
I mean that's dangerous. I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Inbound, he said, last point with Skinner Skymike and a
classic Buick GMC Traffic.

Speaker 3 (33:22):

might have to revise that because I think I heard
Terry say we're going to be up around seventy, so
even warmer than we thought. Cloudy. Tomorrow's like Chancell range

of our top stories this morning. Here's clip.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
Thanks Jimmy keeps dropping that temperature, isn't it? Danm Lot

I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
What happens next, promises may happens here, promises kept US Radio.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Well is the time to go home if you're here illegally? Yes,
it probably is, or it soon will be the best
deportation program under President Truf will begin. I would think
as soon as he takes office January the twentieth. So Democrats,
as you can imagine, who are upset about this, are

(34:54):
holding hearings. The Democrats and the Senate held a hearing
about it. Senator John Kennedy on that committee reports on
the committee meeting and the results of it. Here we go.

Speaker 24 (35:04):
I was hoping to see some sanity. I didn't. It
was a democratic hearing. Dana Senator Durbin are called the hearing.
So they were mostly Democratic witnesses. As best I can tell.
Most of the Democratic witnesses they majored in online activism

(35:26):
with a minor impubty blockers. They were all from the
moonbeam wing of the Democratic Party. They all believe in
open borders. They all believe that vetting people at the
border is racist. Most Americans don't, and they all see
they all see allowing people to come into our country

(35:48):
illegally in stay from through a political lands. They think
that it will mean more votes for them. It's a
very cynical way to uh to run government. Scenario that
Senator Durbin is trying to promote is that President Trump
is going to call out all of our troops, including

(36:10):
bringing truths from overseas and implement on day one a
mass deportation. Uh, it's it's a huge overstatement. Now President
Trump is going to enforce law, and the law says
very clearly that illegal immigration is illegal. Duh. And uh,
He's going to force law. And I think the most

(36:32):
Americans want him to. But but these these activists, they
just don't. They don't believe in having a border. They
just don't. They think that you're a racist if you
believe in, uh, in enforcing the border laws.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
There you go. That's not going to change. I mean,
it just isn't. Just like you know, governors in sanctuary
states like California, Governor Gavin Newsom is not gonna be cooperative.
You know, the sheriff of in San Francisco and Los
Angeles and San Diego, they're not going to be cooperative.
I think the only answer to getting any level of

(37:11):
cooperation in major cities that are run by Democrats is
you are going to have to I would say carrot
and stick approach, but I think more more stick than carrot.
They've gotten plenty of carrots, time for a stick or two.
And about the only thing I think the federal government
can do is withhold funding and say we're not going

(37:31):
to If you're not going to cooperate with us, we're
not going to fund you. We've already seen places like
New York City and Chicago pleat poverty over the legal
immigration problem. If they're not going to get any federal help,
if they get even less help than they get now,
if they get no help, if they get no federal funds,
it kind of forces their hand. Don't you think five

(37:53):
fifty six you're a news radio seven forty k trh.

Speaker 1 (38:00):

Speaker 2 (38:03):

matters to you? From the John Morris Services studios. Well again,
good morning, It's six am now here in Houston's Morning News.
I'm Jimmy Barrett. Among our top stories, as have our
good riddance to Christopher Ray. Some wacky theory is on
what those new Jersey drones are, and coming up at
six o' eight, is Jemini AI dangerous for your soul?

(38:31):
Details in the minutes they head. You're in Houston's Morning News. First,
we're checking out that drive once again. Here's Sky Mike, Well,
they're coming for your soul. Actually, they're just picking up
that big rig. That's a big truck on the East
Freeway outbound past the bud Plant at six ten. Watch
out on the outbound side.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Not much of a smash, but it could sneak up
on you if you're passing wayside two ninety. We've got
some slow rowing jerk going about twenty miles an hour
in a flat bed with his flashers on.

Speaker 3 (38:57):
Mike from Magnolia, everybody's serving the morning.

Speaker 38 (39:00):
Have any invents of going over getting off the freeway?

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Wait first law officer to ticket that guy. I'll give
you whatever.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
We're giving a white tickets to whatever at timeline, So
help us out here. I'm in the classic Buick GMC

I will pay off the next officer that gives somebody
a ticket for going too slow?

All right from our KTRH stop tax Devenders twenty four

high temperature staying near seventy, we'll get the LAS on
the forecast when we talk to Terry at the Weather Channel.

time now for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders.

Speaker 5 (39:36):
Thank you very much, Jimmy. It is six o'hlo one

forward to a very smooth transition at FPI and I'll be.

Speaker 1 (39:44):
Ready to go on day one.

Speaker 5 (39:45):
That is Cash Ptel on Capitol Hill yesterday, reacting to
Christopher Ray's announcement that he was stepping down after seven years.

Speaker 12 (39:53):
Should go without saying, but I'm gonna go ahead and
say it anyways.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
This is not easy for me. I love this place,
I love our mission.

Speaker 5 (40:03):
President Elect Donald Trump called Ray's departure a quote win
for the country. There are still no answers about the
drones that are flying over parts of New Jersey, some
as big as school buses. One Texas congressman knows what
the White House should do about this issue.

Speaker 23 (40:20):
Guidance to every commander of every military installation that if
they have unknown drone activity flying over them, that not
only are they expected to shoot them down, but that
is their only job.

Speaker 5 (40:31):
August Fluger on Fox. There the Pentagon denies a claim
from New Jersey Republican Jeff Vanrew that the drones were
launched by an Iranian mothership, but Van Drew says his
sources quotes have high security clearance. Incoming Defense Secretary Pete
Hecksith was also on Capitol Hill yesterday, meeting with more

(40:51):
Senate Republicans.

Speaker 19 (40:53):
I had a good substantive discussion that lasted more than
an hour, covered a wide range of.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
Topics ME and Susan Collins there. Meantime, Biden's Secretary of State,
Anthony Blincoln, tried to spend the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal from
three years ago for a House committee to.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
The extent President Biden faced a choice. It was between
ending the war or escalating it.

Speaker 28 (41:20):
How do you not followed through on his predecessor's commitment
attacks on our forces and allies would have resumed.

Speaker 5 (41:26):
Thirteen American military personnel were killed in a terrorist tack
three years ago. Elon Musk's push to cut government waste
is winning over many lawmakers in the House, especially Texas
Congressman Jody Arrington.

Speaker 23 (41:39):
We've got major fiscal problems, completely unsustainable fiscal trajectory.

Speaker 5 (41:44):
Former Controller David Walker told lawmakers that the federal government
has gotten too big, promised too much, and subsidized too many.
It's now six ' oh four. The overthrow of Bashar
al Asade in Syria has many concerned about a brand
new way of refugees into Europe and the US terrorism
law professor Jeffrey Adicott says, these people should stay where

(42:07):
they are.

Speaker 13 (42:07):
I'm more for establishing refugee camps over there than then
they can re return to their area where they speak
a common language, common customs. Is said of nature creaction
of many people. Let's bring with the United States. No,
that's not a good idea.

Speaker 5 (42:20):
In the wake of Afghanistan in twenty twenty one, the
Biden White House brought in tens of thousands of Afghan refugees,
mostly unvetted. Incoming borders are Tom Homan says the mass
deportations will begin in the sanctuary city of Chicago, and
he's targeting far left Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
I will coast you, Yes.

Speaker 5 (42:45):
Johnson has promised to fight Homan and the incoming Trump
team here at home. The number of bills filed in
Austin to fight illegal immigration is rising, and now a
Houston State senator is targeting illegal alien convicts.

Speaker 30 (42:59):
That senator is Joan Huffman and the bill is SB
five point fifty two.

Speaker 14 (43:04):
And essentially it would ban convicted illegal aliens from receiving
early termination of their probation of their time through serving
community time.

Speaker 30 (43:12):
That's reporter Mary Elise Cosgray with the Texan These.

Speaker 14 (43:17):
Illegal aliens would not be allowed to serve community time. Essentially,
that would be a right only given to citizens. Governor
Greg Abbott did say that he will sign this law,
which is interesting.

Speaker 30 (43:27):
The eighty ninth Texas Legislative session is just over a
month away. Jeff Biggs News Radio seven forty k t
or eight.

Speaker 5 (43:35):
And in Austin, the fight for Texas Speaker is getting
even more contentious. Dustin Burrows keeps calling himself Speaker elect,
even though the Republican caucus voted for David Cook.

Speaker 16 (43:47):
And it's astounding that a group of Republicans of the
Texas House would betray their voters. And this isn't the
middle finger demeored to my colleagues, it's a massive betrayal
of the people of Texas.

Speaker 5 (43:59):
That's State Repsteve Toth. Burrows is in Houston today for
a fundraiser six ZHO six. More violent crime across Houston.
An argument between a homeowner and man who he recently
kicked out turns deadly with a shooting overnight. No charges
have been found after a home invader is shot and
killed by the daughter of a Southwest Houston homeowner yesterday afternoon.

(44:21):
HPD is also investigating a deadly carjacking last night, and
a student at Deer Park High School was arrested after
being found with a gun. In New York, we're learning
much more about Luigi Mangioni. That's the twenty six year
old charge with shooting and murdering United Healthcare CEO Brian
Thompson last week.

Speaker 39 (44:40):
In addition to the relatively short two hundred and sixty
two word manifesto obtained by The New York Times, allegedly
kept separate notes about his plans for the assassination and
a spiral notebook.

Speaker 36 (44:54):
Now.

Speaker 39 (44:54):
In that notebook, the former data engineer described plans to
go to a quote annual parasitic bean counter convention to
quote whack the CEO.

Speaker 5 (45:04):
That's Fox's Kevin Cork reporting six o seven. The Rockets
beat the Warriors ninety one to ninety to reach the
NBA Cup semi finals, and according to reports, Rockets owner
Tillman for Tita, wants to buy the NFL's New Orleans Saints.
Unfortunately for him, the team isn't for sale. And I'm
Cliff Saunders on Houston's news, weather and Traffic station News

is what I think of when I think of artificial
intelligence is hal from from two. If you've never seen
this movie, it's an old, old movie, nineteen sixty eight.

(45:56):
It is fifty four years old. They in that movie
they were imagining artificial intelligence. And as a young, impressionable
little kid, that was that was what I thought artificial
intelligence was. And I saw I was having PTSD the
other day. Have you seen the commercials for Google's Gemini

(46:18):
with people carrying on a conversation with this artificial intelligence
like this thing is their best friend, Like they don't
have a phone a friend, they don't have an actual
human friend they can call. Is it just me? Or
does this not seem sad? That if you want advice
about something that you want to run an idea past somebody,

(46:41):
that you want a little advice on how to fix
your car or whatever, that the answer is to talk
to Gemini Artificial Intelligence, who will carry on a complete
conversation with you. What else is it doing? Because after all,
it's Google, right, what other information is it gathering about you?

(47:03):
And now they're launching a two point zero version of Gemini.
The company says the new model improves on the kurt
one point five model, also adds the ability to generate
audio and images. Also includes agents AI bots that can
act on your behalf, such as fixing bad code or
even helping you get better at video games. Or maybe though,

Huh what could go wrong with that? One, wonders six

America only works when we work together. In other words,
they're firmly stuck in the middle. Did this election not

We're brought to you by the Brian Museum. President By

I'm um, money, why don't you call more? We all

if you check in with US News Radio seven forty KTRH.
All right, how many people are in the middle of
these days? Six twenty three is our time here in
Houston's War of Years. I wouldn't think a ton, but
that's what the no labels. I guess they're not a party.

(52:49):
They don't want to be called a party, but their
organization of people who are firmly in the middle. In
other words, this is where the rhinos and the so
called conservative Democrats can go. If there any those left
glad to video joined this political consultants. Do these folks
not see the election results? Glad? Why? Why do they
think there's a bunch of people who want to be
in the middle.

Speaker 36 (53:10):
Look, what has happened over time is as groups like
no Labels have positioned themselves as a centrist quote unquote
centrist alternative, but their execution really often appears to be
more focused on aesthetics and branding rather than substantive policy achievements.
They claim to unite people around shared foundational values, and

(53:31):
they want to They want to transcend di visit partisanship,
but the emphasis on political aesthetics that align with civility
are completely overshadowed by any kind of meaningful engagement with
the public. They have been rejected time and time again
because they offer no real solutions at all. It's really

(53:54):
just for people who feel icky about Republicans.

Speaker 3 (53:59):
For people so phil icky, Okay, all right? Do they
have a policy position on any major issue, for example, immigration.

Speaker 36 (54:08):
Their policy preferences tend to align with quote unquote finding
middle ground. They don't offer anything substantive or anything solidified
one way or the other. They just keep encouraging endless discussion,
which is what ends up having like a forty to
fifty year immigration crisis. They're not really interested in finding

(54:31):
concrete solutions that deliver results. They want to avoid that
the competition fights that emerge from these very strong decisions.
They don't have any strong policy positions.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
All right, What should we make of then, of Washington
politicians who are willing to go to these noble No
Labels meetings, one of them being Texas Congressman Tony Gonzalez.
What does that tell us about Tony?

Speaker 36 (54:56):
Well, Tony, it seems it's falling into the trap of
these groups that supported organizations like No Labels. I mean,
if you look at No Labels, they stop piled over
seventy million dollars mostly from wealthy Republican leaning donors who
again feel icky about conservatism, will feel feel conflicted about

(55:18):
making America great, but they struggled to secure any credible
candidate or achieve any tangible political goals. It's kind of
like the Fire Festival. It's a really highly funded enterprise
that delivers more self promotion than substantive results.

Speaker 3 (55:34):
Okay, so this is a place for the anti Trump
Republicans to go. Sounds like.

Speaker 21 (55:39):
Absolutely.

Speaker 36 (55:40):
I understand. It's for people who just don't want to
embrace Republicanism and hope that it could be reversed.

Speaker 3 (55:46):
Okay, gled thank you, appreciated political consultant glad to Vidiock,
it is six twenty six. It is time to take
a look at your money. Jeff Ellinger's in and Jimmy

Speaker 28 (55:56):
Elon Musk is now worth more than four hundred billion dollars.
He is the first individual to reach that milestone. And
as for the world's richest family, Walmart's Walton family, they
are about halfway to a trillion dollar fortune thanks to
the performance of Walmart stock. As for the rest of US,
bamboo HR reports today that forty percent of salaried workers

the raise was smaller than the one they got last year.

It's time out for the news. Here's Cliff Saunders, Thank you, Jimmy.

Speaker 5 (58:18):
Good morning everybody, six thirty two on KTRH. And as
you get your kids ready for school this morning, we
are finding out that SAT scores around here are declining
once again. Houston area schools are seeing an average decrease
of five percent in their total scores from twenty nineteen
to twenty twenty.

Speaker 8 (58:36):
Three, districts are not spending the bulk of their resources
in the class service.

Speaker 18 (58:42):
Sherry Sylvester, senior fellow with the Texas Public Policy Foundation,
says it all started with COVID.

Speaker 8 (58:47):
Absolutely, COVID was a huge setback for the education of
an entire generation of kids.

Speaker 18 (58:55):
SAT scores are down nationally as well, twenty two points
between twenty twenty two and last year. Jared Lewis News
Radio seven forty k H.

Speaker 5 (59:03):
Thank you, Jared. There's new research that shows that homeschool
and Christian school graduates are far more likely to keep
their faith as adults.

Speaker 31 (59:11):
That includes things like the leading in God and life
after death, prayer and Bible reading and going to church,
and that they regularly feel God's presence and also in
terms of their values, they agree that it's important for
parents to teach their children about religion.

Speaker 5 (59:26):
That's doctor Lynn Swanner, the president of Cartis. That's the
group that did this survey. Faith based kids are also
more likely to have kids with the US birth rate
and it's lowest ever, it's now six thirty three. And
then there's gen Z complaining that negative stereotypes are hurting
their careers. They don't like being called lazy. Some say

(59:48):
it's being misconstrued as working smarter instead of harder.

Speaker 32 (59:52):
If you just understand who they are and how they
show up in the workplace, you can evolve your workplace
tailor it to provide a better employee experience.

Speaker 5 (01:00:02):
Betsy Allen Manning of Destination Workplace claims there's a big
disconnect between gen z and management.

Speaker 40 (01:00:09):
Well.

Speaker 5 (01:00:09):
The gen zers also don't deal with the economy particularly well.
According to new research, the average credit card balance for
twenty two to twenty four year olds is about three
thousand dollars, a twenty six percent increase over millennials.

Speaker 3 (01:00:23):
I think when.

Speaker 19 (01:00:24):
People hear the word budget, they think they have to cut.

Speaker 5 (01:00:26):
Out all the fun parts of their life.

Speaker 19 (01:00:28):
But really you're just allocating your income in a way
that doesn't leave you in a deficit.

Speaker 5 (01:00:32):
Bank rates Katie Kelton says gen zers are more willing
to take on debt for things like eating out, going
to concerts, or taking trips. November's inflation report came in
right as expected, which means not good. Prices were up
zero point three percent last month two point seven percent
year over here, well above the Federal Reserve stated goal

(01:00:55):
of a flat two percent.

Speaker 22 (01:00:56):
Why the hell is the FED cutting rights in this
environl The case for that has.

Speaker 8 (01:01:01):
Been gossamer then since they started, but that's getting worse
and worse.

Speaker 5 (01:01:06):
Fox Business is Stephanie Palmboy. The FED is expected to
cut rates again next week. Coming up now on six
thirty five on KTRH in Washington, James McIntyre, the man
charged with physically attacking Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace, pleads not
guilty the confrontation over Mace's stance on protecting girls from

(01:01:27):
trans men. Lawyers aud the man charged with trying to
assassinate Donald Trump in Floridas in September, want to delay
his trial.

Speaker 34 (01:01:36):
The current trial date of February tenth, that's set right now,
they say is rust especially since Ruth faces life in
prison if found guilty on the attempted assassination charge. They
say they are planning an insanity defense based on witnesses
who claim they saw Ruth hallucinating around the time of
his harass Now, Ruth's legal team says the digital evidence
includes terrorbytes of data, three thousand photosmultiple computers and tablets,

(01:02:01):
eighteen phones, seventeen of the eighteen cell phones belong to Ruth.
That's in addition to travel records and lab reports.

Speaker 5 (01:02:09):
Dana Marie McNichol reporting there, the President elect's cabinet picks
continue to make the rounds on Capitol Hill, among them
Pete Hegseth, who You'll hear from at seven o'clock. CNN's
latest polling shows that about seventy percent think Trump will
be able to bring quote change to the country. Nearly
sixty percent approve of how he's handled the transition now.

(01:02:30):
Despite that, multiple Republicans, including Texas Congressman Tony Gonzalez, will
be at the Bipartisan No Labels conference in Washington today.

Speaker 15 (01:02:41):
This could just be the latest effort to hamstring the
Republican agenda.

Speaker 36 (01:02:44):
The Lincoln Project, no Labels, all of these organizations, all
of them are intended to undermine the effectiveness of a
unified Republican Party.

Speaker 15 (01:02:54):
Political strategist Gladavidick says that's why these so called bipartisanship
efforts only ever benefit democ.

Speaker 36 (01:03:00):
They demand having a stay, but when they're in charge,
they dismiss any involvement by the Republican Party or conservative.

Speaker 15 (01:03:08):
Davidick says, Republicans involved in these efforts should tread lightly
because the voters are paying attention. Ethan Buchanan, News Radio
seven forty KTR eight it's.

Speaker 5 (01:03:16):
Now six thirty seven. Mattress Mac sends a message to
his supporters as he continues to recover from open heart
surgery on Tuesday.

Speaker 21 (01:03:24):
Hope you get out of here soon.

Speaker 37 (01:03:26):
Takelet mathis is done a great job and kudos to them,
and uh kudos are alike.

Speaker 21 (01:03:32):
Houston are trying for Ready to get better.

Speaker 5 (01:03:35):
Matt video posted to Facebook. Mac is expected to be
in the hospital for a week and then recover at
home for about three weeks. Finally, Texas A and M
releases it's football schedule for next season. It includes a

I usually take iten West, but lately that's been a nightmare.

Speaker 3 (01:04:06):
KTRH time saving traffic. Next on the ten Well with
Joe Biden. All you have to do is ask six
thirty eight is our time? It turns out that Joe
Biden is a serial commuter. And I don't mean driving
to work. I'm talking. I'm talking about commuting sentences. Fifteen

(01:04:27):
one hundred jail sentences and thirty nine acts of clemency
in one day is the largest single day granted clemency
in the history of the United States. Now here's what
we're told about. Who's getting these pardons, if you will.
The fifteen hundred people who are granted pardons are inmates,

(01:04:52):
many of them inmates placed on home confinement during the
COVID nineteen pandemic, who quote have successfully reintegrated into their
families and communities. I assume that means that they haven't
committed any further crimes. Or maybe maybe I shouldn't assume that, right,
But that's what we're told anyway. The thirty nine individuals pardoned,

(01:05:15):
we're convicted of quote, non violent crimes. Okay, we don't
know the names of the thirty nine people. I don't
know if there's going to be an official release of
the names of the thirty nine people. I'm kind of wondering,
you know who they are and what walks of life
they come from, and if they're if they're just you know,

(01:05:37):
people who are on the progressive side of things, or
if if it's just you know, common everyday Americans who
deserve another opportunity. What I do know is that there
has been no pardon yet for January the sixth, prisoners
who are still stuck in jail without a court date.
Would I would expect though, that President Trump would like

(01:06:00):
the honor of doing that, commuting their sentence, giving them
a pardon, probably the first days in office, six forty.
Time for traffic and whether it's together. As we check
in again with sky Mike, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Let's check out the Golf Freeway. Got a new problem

Speaker 3 (01:06:15):
That is, boot's an accident in the HOV. Jimmy, the HOV.

Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
Has this one small design problem.

Speaker 3 (01:06:22):
Can you tell me what it is? Design problem? It's
just one lane. Oh, it's not wide enough. It's not
wide enough. Just one lane northbound. So watch out.

Speaker 4 (01:06:31):
Let's stay on the main You know, we don't have
that usual record park place, So stay on the main lane.

Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
Stay out of trouble. East Tex southbound.

Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
I've got backups now from equipment down past the Big
Georgia loose about three or four minutes trying to hit
the Med Center exit. You've got North Sam going westbound
aldeing Westfield.

Speaker 3 (01:06:47):
That's a spackle with some roadwork. Who is that? That
told me it's one of our good guys too. Oh.

Speaker 4 (01:06:53):
Gary told me that they'll finish that supposedly next week
on the westbound road work. And of course we've got
that stalled truck coming into downtown Katie Freeway that's on
the inbound at Taylor Street.

Speaker 3 (01:07:04):

Speaker 5 (01:07:43):
Are you stuck behind someone this morning?

Speaker 3 (01:07:45):
I just honestly, I think slow driving is dangerous. I

under the speed limit is going too slow for Skymike
from our katrh Generator Supercenter twenty four, our weather sentit

Speaker 5 (01:08:04):
We are going to have a slow warm up.

Speaker 22 (01:08:06):
Yes, this is kind of nice, actually a little chili
at the moment. A lot of places reporting temperatures in
the thirties to start us out, but we have sunshine
and we have southeasterly breezes and that will mean temperatures
today just a little bit warmer. Really nice day, mid
upper sixties. But as we continue to get the winds

(01:08:27):
off the Gulf of Mexico, we'll start to see more clouds.

Speaker 5 (01:08:32):
We've got some marina as well.

Speaker 3 (01:10:59):
Yeah, the sad experience was not good for the United
States six fifty three our time here in Houston's morning news,
especially the way we withdrew and yesterday Congress had an
opportunity to exercise some demons. I guess against the Secretary
of State Anthony Blinkin about the Box withdrawal. A representative
Warren Davidson, who has a military background, questioning Blinking about

(01:11:22):
the Afghanistan withdraw It was pretty riveting.

Speaker 25 (01:11:26):
Many Americans and Allies were forced to conduct a dangerous
four hundred mile journey to Missouri Shreef Airbase, where they
were delayed for weeks. Colonel Long testified quote that we
spend three weeks hiding these nearly four hundred people from
the Taliban, keeping them alive and fed using funds from
American donors. All this while the State Department delayed and
frankly blocked American citizens from leaving Secretary blink and I

(01:11:50):
have communications as I said, this show this happened, and
you're saying that didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
Why would we block Americans?

Speaker 25 (01:11:58):
That's the problem I have. I had it at the time.
Why get And here's the thing, mister Secretary of the Information.
As I was working with your State Department while you
were Secretary of State and relaying this information, someone said
to me, which tail number? Which tail number? You mean
there's more than one plane you guys are blocking?

Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
Are you freaking kidding me?

Speaker 25 (01:12:21):
And then your State Department wanted to deny it, and
here today you won't even acknowledge the truth of that.

Speaker 3 (01:12:26):
It's disgusting.

Speaker 25 (01:12:28):
To try to blame this on Donald Trump when we
all know there is no way that anyone forced you
guys to do the dumbest thing possible. You don't have
to have worn our nation's uniform like I and other
people did to know that first you get the civilians out,
then the military, not the other way around.

Speaker 3 (01:12:46):
This has to be one of the dumbest, most.

Speaker 25 (01:12:48):
Poorly executed paths to depart any country possible.

Speaker 3 (01:12:52):
My only hope is that in.

Speaker 25 (01:12:54):
The eleven embassy evacuations that have happened on your watch,
an unprecedented number. You've somehow gotten better at it.

Speaker 3 (01:13:02):
Yeah, there's not much I can add to that. It
was not one of the dumbest. It was the dumbest
military withdrawal in our nation's history. That's my belief, all right.

You like free stuff. We all like free stuff. Guess
what our iHeartRadio app is free and free never sounded
so good. Seven two now here in Houston's morning Notes, So,
who will be the next Speaker of the Texas House?
Dustin Burroughs evidently thinks he will be I know the governor.

(01:29:12):
Governor Appitt's made it pretty clear he wants Cook to
be the next Speaker of the House Steve Toath joins
US Texas state representative. What is this though, about Dustin
Burroughs actually billing himself as the Speaker elect? What is
that about?

Speaker 16 (01:29:24):
I don't know, Jimmy. I always thought he had to
actually get elected to something, nor to be called speaker elect.
But evidently they thought this is a good idea. Identify.
This is what liberals do. They identify with whatever they
want to be, even though there's no reality to it.

Speaker 3 (01:29:38):
Oh okay, kind of like a man identifying as a
woman or a woman identifying as a man. He identifies
as the Texas House speaker.

Speaker 16 (01:29:45):
Correct, correct, Gotta believe it, gotta believe.

Speaker 3 (01:29:49):
Okay, all right, we know that neither candidate. Last I heard,
neither candidate has enough votes. Has that changed at all
as far as you can tell?

Speaker 16 (01:30:00):
Yeah, drastically so Burrough's. Burrow's high watermark was forty one Republicans.
He's down to thirty one. David Cook started at forty
eight and he's now up to fifty five or fifty
seven something like that. And that's before that's before the
governor got involved and said that he was picking David Cook.
And again, another goofy thing is that Cook is butt

(01:30:21):
is backed by the lobby right, and they're spending millions
to try and get him in there.

Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
And they many.

Speaker 16 (01:30:29):
Republicans across the state of Texas. I'll bet the vast
majority of your listeners are getting these text messages talking
about David Cook being a terrible liberal and it's just
it's all garbage.

Speaker 36 (01:30:41):
Right.

Speaker 16 (01:30:41):
One of the texts that came out a couple days
ago showed a pitcher of Burrows with a governor, and
you know, it's very misleading because you believe that from
looking at it, that the governor is endorsing him when
he's not note at all. In fact, he was going
to stay out of it until until Burrows started claiming
that he had his endorsement.

Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
I know that Dustin Burroughs at one point in time
was a supporter of Dade Feeling. So is he just
Dad feeling light or is he just another date feeling?

Speaker 16 (01:31:11):
Yeah? Completely, he's Daid feeling two point zero. And he's
cut a deal with the Democrats to continue to give
them committee chairmanships. He's cut a deal with the Democrats
to eliminate parental choice and deciding where your tax dollars
dollars go to educate your children. He's terrible.

Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
Okay, so you said that David Cook has the support
of fifty seven you believe fifty seven Texas Republicans. Is
that enough to get him the speakership. No, it's not.

Speaker 16 (01:31:42):
There are eighty eight Republicans. We've all got to get
on board. We want to make sure that the Republicans
pick the next speaker and not the Democrats. Now he's
won the caucus vote, which gives him the ability to
talk to Democrats that want to talk to him, but
that's not where we're focused. We're focused on the Republican
Party and getting the Republicans on board. The Republicans need

(01:32:02):
to unify around one person, and that's David Cook.

Speaker 3 (01:32:06):
Okay, Why why has it been hard to get the
Republicans all on the same page.

Speaker 16 (01:32:12):
Because you've got some that just that are part of
the swamp, Jimmy Moore. It's just they they want to
do the big the bidding of the lobby, they want
to do the bidding of the teachers' unions, and this
whole idea of eliminating Democrat committee chairs. It's just something
that they're just not comfortable with. They want to you know,
we're Texas. We've got eighty eight Republicans to sixty two Democrats,

(01:32:36):
and they want to share chairmanships with Democrats. What's with that?

Speaker 3 (01:32:40):
Yeah, they ought to be. They ought to all signed
up for the No Labels Party? Is that because they're
all a bunch of rhinos? I thought I thought we
got rid of most of the rhinos in this last election.
We did.

Speaker 16 (01:32:52):
The governor spent heavily, he worked hard.

Speaker 3 (01:32:55):
And.

Speaker 16 (01:32:56):
The grassroots groups across the state of Texas worked really hard,
and we got a fifteen new, strong, courageous Republicans that
took out fifteen rhinos. And we're pretty excited about that.

Speaker 3 (01:33:08):
Okay, I just need to get rid of a few more.
I guess all right, Steve. Thanks, that's Texas State Representative
Steve Toath. It's seven twenty six. It is time to

he could probably afford to just go buy a new Mercedes.
But inbound they've taken out that right lane, and also

Speaker 5 (01:35:08):
Thank you, Jimmy. We're coming up on seven point thirty two.
In our top story your kids in their education. Houston
area school districts are seeing once again a drop in
average SAT scores.

Speaker 8 (01:35:19):
Many of them are beginning to require SATs again. The
question is, if not the SAT, what we really have
to know how to measure what our kids are learning, or,
as you're seeing from these results in Houston, what the
kids are not learning.

Speaker 5 (01:35:34):
Sherry Sylvester with the Texas Public Policy Foundation says scores
have been steadily going down ever since the COVID lockdowns.
Hope for the future, though, do research shows that homeschool
and Christian school graduates are more likely to keep.

Speaker 30 (01:35:50):

Speaker 31 (01:36:06):

Speaker 5 (01:36:22):
It's seven thirty three and gen Z is complaining yet again.
This time they're upset about the negative stereotypes of their
work ethic. They claim it's hurting in their careers, a misconception.
They claim.

Speaker 32 (01:36:35):
They're really like, Oh, you're just going to work me
to death and burn me out, and I don't even
have a say in this. I could just stay with
your company. So a lot of them are looking for
work right now, and they say that the majority that
we're going to leave with their current job in the
next twelve months.

Speaker 5 (01:36:51):
That's the Alan Manning with Destination workplace as gen Z
just thinks they're working smarter, not harder. Now, that may
be true, but gen Z isn't so with money.

Speaker 26 (01:37:01):
New numbers show it's the younger generation who's increasingly turning
to credit cards and accumulating debt at a faster rate
than their parents. Senior writer for Bank Rate Katie Kilton
says eighteen to twenty four year olds just think differently
about money.

Speaker 19 (01:37:14):
They're more willing to dine out, go to live entertainment
like concerts, and travel, even if they're already carrying debt
or are willing to take on debt for those things.

Speaker 26 (01:37:24):
Experts warn that this early reliance on credit could harm
their financial futures, leading to lower credit scores and long

Eric Sharp News Radio seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 5 (01:37:35):
Inflation remains a problem as well. Despite the White House spin,
it was up zero point three percent in November two
point seven percent year over year in Despite all this,
the Federal Reserve is expected to cut interest rates next week.

Speaker 33 (01:37:51):
We have a pretty good labor market, we have accelerating inflation,
and we're going into rate cut. That's kind of very,
very confusing, but I think in terms of what is
the frame work there operating on.

Speaker 5 (01:38:01):
The former White House Economic Advisor Thomas Phillipson on Fox Business,
this would, by the way, be the third rate cut
this year. It's now seven thirty five. And in Washington,
the man charged with physically accosting Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace
pleads not guilty. James McIntyre is charged with assaulting a
government official. And then there's the man charged with trying

(01:38:24):
to assassinate Donald Trump in September and Florida. He was
back in court yesterday.

Speaker 42 (01:38:29):
Ryan Ruth.

Speaker 34 (01:38:30):
Public defenders are asking for a delay of about ten months.
That's because they just have so much digital evidence to
comb through.

Speaker 21 (01:38:36):
They say.

Speaker 34 (01:38:37):
The current trial date of February tenth, that's set right now,
they say is rust especially since Ruth faces life in prison.
I found guilty on the attempted assassination charge.

Speaker 5 (01:38:46):
Dana Marie mcnicholl reporting there. The President elect's cabinet picks
continued to make the rounds on Capitol Hill, meeting with
senators ahead of confirmation hearings.

Speaker 3 (01:38:56):
They're coming in.

Speaker 35 (01:38:56):
They've been very open and candid and subjecting themselves to
lots of questions from lots of senators from different parts
of the country who have different perspectives on these issues
and want to hear from them about their vision for
the jobs that they've been nominated for.

Speaker 5 (01:39:11):
Incoming Senate majority of the leader, John Thune of South
Dakota Pete Hegseth is back on the hill today. Among
those he will meet include Rand Paul and John Fetterman,
the Democrat from Pennsylvania. New polling from CNN shows that
nearly seventy percent think Trump will be able to bring
change to the country, with fifty five percent approving of

(01:39:31):
the transition so far. Despite that, there are still Republicans
backing these so called by partisan no labels effort. Texas
Congressman Tony Gonzalez will be at their conference in Washington today.

Speaker 36 (01:39:43):
Americans saw during the Biden Harris regime what the left
has to offer, and they rejected those ideas. They rejected
those ideas decisively.

Speaker 5 (01:39:53):
Political strategist La Davidjick says Gonzales should tread carefully. The
voters are paying attention and as expected. Time magazine names
Donald Trump it's Person of the Year. It's the second
time he's won the Award. It'll be at the New
York Stock Exchange in an hour, ringing the opening bell
this morning, seven thirty seven. Now Mattress mack Well. He
continues to recover from open heart surgery earlier this week.

Speaker 21 (01:40:17):
I'm getting better of Thanks sud many thoughts and prayers.

Speaker 37 (01:40:21):
Are great customers out there, and when you buy furniture
prock you did yesterday today certainly makes me feel better.

Speaker 5 (01:40:30):
Mac is expected to stay in the hospital for about
another week, and according to our TV partner Channel To
the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees are trying to
trade for astro star outfielder Kyle Tucker. And I'm Cliff
Saunders on Houston's News, weather and Traffic station News Radio
seven forty KTRH.

Speaker 34 (01:40:48):
Well, with the holidays and everything, it's really hard to
keep up.

Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
Chiefing you caught off is what we do to know
what's going on around me. Go with Houston's News Radio
seven forty KTRH seven thirty eight. Our time here on
Houston's Boring News. When you hear a woman say ew,
generally she's talking about her man. In many cases, there's

(01:41:15):
science to back this up. By the way, I guess
this has become a big thing on social media, women
posting pictures and videos of their men doing certain things
that they find ikey, and other women piling on and saying, yeah,
that's horrible. Some I guess some examples are and it's

(01:41:36):
really kind of weird. There's there's some videos of men
chasing after a ping pong ball. One one young woman
said that complained about her her man, her boyfriend using
a debit card instead of a credit card on a date.
Why would you find that ikey. Most of it has
to do with male body parts, in particular feet, and

(01:42:00):
I can tell you from from practical personal experience. My
wife absolutely hates men's feet, especially toenails. You want to
get you want to get the factor out of her,
Clip your toenails in front of her. The gag reflex
will start to kick in. Evidently, this is based on

(01:42:21):
science and several primate species, including human beings, and all
females are more sensitive to grossness than men. In other words,
we don't we don't care about clipping our toenails, and
we don't care much about who we do it in
front of. We don't find that gross, but a lot
of women do, and in fact, in the animal kingdom females.

(01:42:42):
Females when they see a male doing something they find icky,
will avoid them like the plague. They don't they don't
have the whole marriage thing to work around. They just
avoid them. Seven forty time for traffic and weather together.

Speaker 4 (01:42:56):
What about an unnatural hair color? Because I could have
had jet, I could have had ebony. I chose middle
aged crisis.

Speaker 3 (01:43:02):
I think for most women it would be very hypocritical
to criticize you over an unnatural hair color. Most of
them don't have their natural hair color.

Speaker 4 (01:43:10):
I feel vindicated now, Jimmy, thank you chacking it up
for the guy to eighty eight northbound.

Speaker 3 (01:43:16):
Looks like this guy is okay.

Speaker 4 (01:43:17):
He ran around, flipped around backward, he didn't flip airport
to eighty eight northbound the toll lanes and he ran
into that wall. Looks like we're okay. EMS is there?
Just in case, we'll take up the right side here. Hey,
you could afford the toll lanes. You can just go
out and buy Newrcedes. Let's go northbound. You got backups
from the Beltway. Let's go to the Kadie Freeway West

(01:43:38):
Sam just right under the KD Freeway.

Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
Got e wrecked northbound. They moved him over to the side.

Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
It's causing a bit of a squish after the Briar
Forest Plaza on the Kdie Freeway's main lanes. Some backups
around Fry Road. Look at the Grand Parkway west here
Sinco Ranch. You got that roadwork between Highland Knowles and
Fry Road that gets ugly. Plus you've got the text
dot wall of death. Jerry, speaking of Terry, We've got
the golf ball problem here north.

Speaker 3 (01:44:03):
Yeah, see right there.

Speaker 4 (01:44:04):
By the golf ball Grant Parkway north coming over from
Tomball Pass Hooks Airport, about a twelve minute eastbound squish.
And then that's a skunch on the westbound side just
around Kirkandall. You could spell that right north Sam westbound
at Aldine Westfield. That's two left lanes blocked here and
we're loopying the squeeze forty five north. That's going to
be six ' ten north westbound at forty five. I'm

(01:44:26):
skylike on the Generator Supercenter dot Com traffic Center.

Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
Yeah, that golf ball is going to be a problem
for a while. The way they do that widening out
of the Grand Parkway right there from our Katie IrH
Generator Supercenter twenty four hour Whether Center. Terry Smith is
here and we've got a beautiful day in store today, Terry.

Speaker 5 (01:44:41):
We really do.

Speaker 22 (01:44:42):
I'm super excited because it's a sunny day and the
temperatures are going to be quite pleasant, a little bit
warmer than yesterday. And then after today we've got some
raine in the forecast. It does keep warming up, though,
So the big question for tomorrow is will Jimmy be
wearing shorts to work? I weren't short right now, look
at you, even though it was so chilly this morning.

(01:45:04):
All right, Well, it's a short weekend, everybody. Temperatures today
mid upper sixties. Tomorrow we have a thirty percent chance
of some showers, not a wash out. Mid sixties to
low seventies Tomorrow, fifty percent chance of showers and some
thunder on Saturday, and highs in the low to mid seventies.
We still have summarrained Sunday and Monday, and temperature Sunday

(01:45:26):
and Monday mid to upper seventies. That's like ten degrees
warmer than it's supposed to be.

colder than it's supposed to be Yeah, right down thirty

that they did much solving of the problem, but a
report on that coming up next. First, we've got traffic
and weather together as we check out the drive once again.
This sky Mike.

Speaker 4 (01:46:05):
They're calling the dogs off on two eighty eight northbound.
They've recleared those managed lanes inbound. Look to highly priced
toll lanes northbound. At Airport. We're still backed up from
the South Belt, Grant Parkway north height.

Speaker 43 (01:46:17):
Thanks guy, Mike, Thank love the steps Softball tollway, the
two vehicle accidents, the records are blocking the left inside lane.

Speaker 4 (01:46:25):
All right, watch out on the eastbound and law officers.

Your reliable forecast next on the ten on seven forty KTRH.
A lot of people living in colin your rage let
the dogs out, and they're biting people. They're causing problems.
It's been going on for a while, but it's been
a slow process to get a response from Liberty County's

(01:48:00):
Court of Commissioners. They don't have a they don't have
a dog pound there, they don't have animal control. They
had a meeting yesterday at nine o'clock in the morning.
Residents showed up to talk about the problem. Here's a
report from KPRC two.

Speaker 44 (01:48:14):
Emotions were high as people shared their experiences with the
stray dogs. During today's meeting, we spoke with one woman
who says her actions trying to save her daughter during
an attack almost cost her jail time.

Speaker 34 (01:48:26):
To kill someone, and there's no animal shelter at all.

Speaker 44 (01:48:30):
In a packed courtroom, Liberty County neighbors stood before commissioners,
sharing concerns about the ongoing stray dog problem and recent
attacks throughout the entire county. KPRC two covered different attacks
where people were bit by a pack of aggressive dogs.
Neighbors say there has been an issue with people dumping
and neglecting dogs for years with the county not having

(01:48:52):
an animal shelter, many rescued straight animals on their own time.

Speaker 43 (01:48:56):
I've rescued over three hundred cats and dogs over the
last twenty two years living here. I have been mauled,
I've been attacked by a doll, drug up a lot
of stairs. I'm done with this. I can't risk my
daughter's life. I can't risk my own life or my
pet's life.

Speaker 44 (01:49:12):
Katrina Bird says she put together a petition roughly eight
years ago asking the county for a shelter.

Speaker 3 (01:49:18):
She says the only solution she was.

Speaker 44 (01:49:20):
Given by authorities was to shoot a dog if it
threatened her life.

Speaker 43 (01:49:24):
You know what I did when I defended myself.

Speaker 3 (01:49:27):
I shot a doll.

Speaker 1 (01:49:28):
I almost on a prison.

Speaker 43 (01:49:29):
They tried to slap me with animal cruelty charges, and
that was some of the worst days of my entire life.

Speaker 3 (01:49:36):
That's why I stopped pursuing.

Speaker 43 (01:49:38):
This petition because I was advised by my attorney, and
now I'm pursuing it again because I can't.

Speaker 3 (01:49:44):
I don't know what else to do. This is not fair.
What is the goal?

Speaker 43 (01:49:47):
I need seventeen percent of the county residents for our
signatures to truly matter for this to be put on
the ballot.

Speaker 44 (01:49:57):
Judge Jane Knight announced he would not be commenting or
making decisions during Tuesday's meeting since the dog issue was
not on the agenda. Daniel Williamson with Savage King CORSOLLC
says she has solutions.

Speaker 20 (01:50:10):
What they can do is you can apply once a
year for different grants. There are federal level grants that
come from the state, and there are also private grants
from people like the ASPCA, the Humane Society, and even
private donors have grants and there's a ton of volunteers
out here.

Speaker 44 (01:50:27):
We spoke with Precinct three Commissioner David Whitmeyer after the meeting.
He acknowledged the shrade dogs or a problem and says
the county is working to come up with a resolution.
Do you think this is something that the county will
act on quickly?

Speaker 20 (01:50:39):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:50:40):
Absolutely, yeah, yeah, will What.

Speaker 44 (01:50:42):
Do you think needs to be done in order to
get a shelter?

Speaker 21 (01:50:45):
That's what we're going to meet home, so we'll see.

Speaker 44 (01:50:49):
Does it just come down to funding a lot of it?

Speaker 3 (01:50:51):
Absolutely?

Speaker 44 (01:50:52):
Do you think this will eventually get on the agenda?

Speaker 2 (01:50:54):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (01:50:55):
Absolutely yes, he does it will Okay, sounds like it's
been going on for I don't know, twenty some odd
years and you know, worse now than it ever has
been and never gotten on the agenda before. Is it
just me? By the way, I don't know J. Knight,
And like I said before, I'm sure he's a fine man.

(01:51:17):
But the County Commission of Liberty County, J. Knight, he's
going out of his way not to say anything at
all about what's going on. I'm sure he's trying to
avoid this, like the plague. But at some point in time,
you got to face up to a problem. You got
to say, we have to come up with a solution.
And you know, the poor woman who got prosecuted for
shooting a dog when she was advised that was really

(01:51:38):
about the only way she could protect herself. How does
that happen? Yeah? Time to come up with some answers, y'all.
Time to come up with some answers, y'all. Have a
great day. I'll see tomorrow morning right in early five am,
and this afternoon four and the m nine to fifty
