(00:00):
Scott Vordy's interesting night, first nightof the Republican National Convention up in Milwaukee,
And maybe the most interesting thing wasthey'd set up two zones near the
convention center. If you're familiar withMilwaukee. One is the Zeidler Union Square.

(00:21):
The other one is the Haymarket Square. Park is everyone ought to have
a hay Market, right Lincoln's likeHey Market. So they had two designated
protest zones for the convention. Thisis not unusual, whether it's one of
these political conventions or for a Trumprally or anything like that. President is

(00:46):
in town to make a speech, they set up these zones, and the
zones are always full of people whoare like, all right, we don't
want to be harassed by law enforcement. We would And by the way,
the zones aren't like here's the conventioncenter, then over here three and a
half miles away as your designated protestzone. They're right there next to the

(01:07):
convention. It's just kind of like, this is the best place to be.
We don't we're not going to haveyou blocking traffic, We're not going
to have you blocking entrance into theconvention. We're not going to do any
of this stuff. So here's here'syour protest zone if you see fit.
And they had two of them becauseit's the Republican National Convention and Trump,

(01:30):
so they expected a bunch of peopleto be out there, and I expect
this week there will be. Butas of last night, none, no
protesters. I thought I read wherethey had blocked one of the entrances.
They may have tried, but accordingto this report, there were no protesters

(01:52):
in either of these two zones setup near the conction. Well, and
it's yeah, they got out.How did they get out? They don't
need no stinking badges? Right,Well, how did all these protesters get
loose? I don't know. Wetold local law enforcement for one minute and
twenty six seconds there were protesters onthe loose. Where's that tiger lady?

(02:15):
Yeah, obviously a reference to theone minute and twenty six seconds when people
were telling law enforcement there's a guyon the roof up there before the event
on Saturday with Trump. So wherewere the protesters? Well, one of
them is Trump's running mate. Imean no, he got over it.

(02:35):
I mean you look at the peoplewho were speaking last night. Jd Vance,
who is now on the ticket. It wasn't that long ago. He
called Trump a quote cynical. Ican't say that we're a whole a variation
of a hole in a cynical oneat that, not cyclical cynical. So

(03:01):
he called him that and called himAmerica's hitler. This was not that long
ago. So then jd Vance changeshis tone, changes his tune. Trump
picks him to be his running mate. You see people who have teds.

(03:23):
There is hope for a cure.Well, jd Vance says, he said,
I was very skeptical of Trump intwenty sixteen, and then Trump was
a great president. He changed mymind. And now the senator from Ohio
is Trump's running mate. So TrumpVance. So how do we get to

(03:46):
relatively young as thirty nine year oldsenator from Ohio. How do we get
to jd Vance on the ticket, especially since on Friday there was this whole
drum beat on Friday late morning becauseTrump indicated he was leaning towards Doug Bergham,
the North Dakota governor, who byall accounts is a good governor,

(04:09):
solid conservative, solid guy. Butwhen it comes to moving the needle for
excitement for a potential twenty twenty eightpresidential run, that's not him. You
can be two things at the samething. You can be a solid servant
of the people in a political role, and you can also have absolutely no

(04:34):
chance of being elected anything beyond whatyou're currently doing. Doug Bergham thought I'm
going to run for president, andhe got slightly closer to the nomination than
your mom. There was zero,I mean, zero point zero one percent
support. He didn't get. Hedidn't get hardly anything. And so here's

(04:58):
the story. And I don't knowhow true this is, but what I've
heard is Trump indicated on Friday,I like Doug Burgham, and it was
his two sons, Donald Trump Juniorand Eric Trump, two of his three
sons. I don't know that kind. I can't think of this. Yeah,

(05:19):
Baron, I wanted to say,Blaze Blazer Trump, that'll be the
next one. Yeah, I don'tknow that. Baron gave a rip.
But Donald Trump Junior and Eric Trumpimmediately called him and said why why Doug
Bergham. That is absolutely guano crazy. He offers us nothing, Why would

(05:45):
you do this? And they werelike, it's gotta be jd It's gotta
be jd Vance. These guys lovejd Vance. So Trump's like, all
right, wait, so this conversationtook place. That's according to a long
time Republican operative familiar with the discussiontelling NBC News. So then why would

(06:06):
Trump be leaning towards Doug Bergham beforeall of this, and maybe not why
he wasn't immediately for JD. Well. JD has a lot more personality,
enthusiasm, fire passion than I thinkDoug Bergham, who's a much calmer,
and maybe Trump was like, well, I want to have the appearance of
someone who, you know, asI'm out here being me, you got

(06:30):
someone who is a bit more soberand presentation. And I don't mean Trump
is crazy, drunk or whatever.I just mean it's a very different personality.
It's a bit more low energy thanTrump. So let's try and balance
it with that. Some people say, well, maybe Trump wanted Burgham because
Bergham was never going to outshine Trump, and maybe someone like a Tim Scott

(06:53):
might, maybe someone like a JD. Vance might, And Trump's I don't
I don't know how you out trumpTrump right now, and apparently JD.
Vance is not interested in trying.Of course, the biggest issue is who's
going to turn on me like MikePence in the eyes of Donald Trump.

(07:15):
So however was he got there? He got there? He said, this
is my guy, jd Vance.Jd talked with Fox News yesterday shortly after
being named the president's running mate andsaid, I was just amazed that Trump
called me and he was talking withme, and he wanted to talk to
my family, and he talked withmy son. My son is seven years

(07:39):
old, and Trump wanted to talkwith my son on the phone and just
have a chat with him and sayhi. And jd Vance said, the
guy just got shot a couple ofdays ago and he wanted to take the
time to talk to my seven yearold. That's who Trump is. And
like I said, the protesters, they weren't there, and these protest zones

(08:03):
in Milwaukee because they were all askedto speak the Republican National Convention. Jd
Vance called Trump a few years agoAmerica's hitler. He's Trump's running mate.
There's this model person named Amber Rosewho a few years ago did an interview
and called Trump a blanking idiot.Last night, she spoke at the convention

(08:26):
and said the media lied about Trump, and I believed those lies. I
did my research. I watched thefour years of his presidency, and I
realized, you know what, theseare my people talking about those at the
convention last night. Bobby Bartells,a business manager of a Long Island,
New York based steam fitters union, was there speaking last night. He said,

(08:52):
I know a lot of union memberswill never vote for a Republican.
You guys are selling out workers inthis country by continuing to vote Democrat.
So that's one guy, a unionmember. And then you had the head
of the Teamsters out there. Hedidn't exactly give a full throated endorsement to

(09:15):
Trump, and he certainly didn't doso for Biden, but he the fact
that he was there speaking at theRepublican National Convention as the head of a
major union, the Teamsters Union, shows this is a little different this time
around. So where were the protesters. It looks like they were asked to

(09:37):
come in and speak, I mean, based on what you'd normally think of.
And that was just night one.Nebraska has got a delegation there,
certainly, and one of them isthe Nebraska Republican Party Committee man J.
L. Spray, who will joinus next live from Milwauk in just a

(10:00):
few minutes. Scott Voyes News Radioeleven ten KFAB. We have some special
programming for you this week through Thursdaynight. Some of you noted last night.
I got some emails and people say, hey, where's Glenn Beck.
Jesse Kelly is on yes, lastnight, tonight, Tomorrow night, and
part of Thursday night. Since JesseKelly is live at the Republican National Convention

(10:26):
all this week and his program airsmuch later in the afternoon, whereas Glenn
Beck is recorded in the morning playedback, we decided, since Glenn would
be on the radio at six pmtalking about what happened the night before,
Jesse Kelly is on there talking aboutwhat's going on right now. So special

(10:48):
programming Jesse Kelly from the Republican NationalConvention from six to midnight here on news
radio eleven KFAB. We've got someoneelse live in Milwaukee though right now.
He is the Nebraska Republican Party's NationalCommittee man. He is JL Spray and
joins us now from Milwaukee. Jl, good morning, Where Scott. What

(11:09):
does the Republican Party's national committeeman outof Nebraska do anyway? Well, I've
been on the National Committee for aboutten years and so I was involved in
some of the planning for this convention, was on the Rules Committee, which
culminated in the Convention Rules. Participatedwith the Debate Committee and doing the primary

(11:35):
and general election debates, which we'llsee how it all shakes out on that
front, and generally tried to providea conduit between the National Party and the
Nebraska Republican Party. So what doesJL think? Yeah, what does JL
think of JD? Jail likes JDgood pick lots of energy, My goodness

(11:56):
lit up the room last night.Us. Sure, and I hate to
say it quite this way, butunless you're here in person, you can't
appreciate the energy that goes on onthe floor of a convention, and it
ebbs and flows, but it wasflowing last night, that's for sure.
Yeah, I agree with you, having been in Tampa for Mitt Romney's in

(12:18):
twenty twelve. Yeah, the energyon the convention floor is pretty interesting and
it's pretty amazing to be a partof that. It seems like this year's
convention already, though, is verydifferent. You had a lot of Union
guys speaking last night in addition toa stream of politicians. But these guys

(12:41):
up there just everyday Americans who said, look, you know under Trump,
we were doing well. Under Biden, we can't afford anything. I mean,
you heard a lot of this lastnight, didn't you. Well,
even jd Vance is sort of anevery man's story, coming from well the
poverty would pretty much detailed to beingelected to the United States Senate now being

(13:09):
our Kennedy for vice President. Justan amazing rags to riches kind of only
in America could this possibly happen story? Yeah, for people who aren't familiar
with his story, he's written abook called hill Billy Elegy. But some
things that I know i'd heard alittle bit. I didn't know everything about
his story. How abusive the relationshipwas. His dad was abusive, he

(13:33):
left, and then his mom wasabusive and got married I think five more
times. And this was his childhood. His mom once threatened to kill them
both. I mean, the factthat you can come from that to now
on the ticket with the former andpotentially the future president as his running mate

(13:56):
is absolutely amazing. It is andI think, actually, maybe it's a
Netflix movie, but there's a Hillbillyeulogy movie. Yeah, I understand,
Yes, ELEGI may be more accessibleto the masses right. We talked about
here at the start of the programthat around the convention hall there in Milwaukee,

(14:20):
the protest zones were empty last night. What was the feeling on the
street to Mount Milwaukee, especially nowwith this kinder, gentler tone we're all
supposed to have now in the wakeof what happened on Saturday. You know,
there was a considerable lull after thebusiness of the convention was completed early
in the afternoon and the nomination wasin place, and I went out on

(14:43):
the street. I had a coupleevents I was going to go to and
went to, but the streets weregenerally peaceable. I did see a protest
rally in the far northeast corner ofthe convention area, but other than that,
I think people were so unbelievably struckby the assassination attempt and the violence

(15:09):
that went on there, that thepeople that were killed and injured, that
everybody's took a breath and said, wait a minute, what do we doing?
And I think he took the windout of the sails of a lot
of people who were, you know, shorting and breathing fire about this convention.
Yeah, what do you think aboutthis? This tone that we expect
to hear Thursday night with the keynoteaddress from President Trump. His son Eric

(15:33):
talked with The Today Show and saidthat this new version speech is forward linking,
forward looking and incredibly positive. Andit's not that people don't want to
hear that from Trump, but it'sit's a little different. And so,
how do you you know when Trumpis being this guy and he's rallied this

(15:56):
kind of support, if he comesout there, you know, this kinder,
gentler and let's all get along andso forth, what do you think
the mood is going to be isthe reception to this. So if if
you look at the last three orfour weeks, we've had three or four
what I would call healthy October surprisesin the month of July, the debate,

(16:21):
the dumb Bright Biden movement, assassinationattempt, you know, all the
things that have gone on in thelast three or four weeks. Blony charges,
keelony charges, dismissal of the casein Florida on the on the documents
case which shakes the DC case, and all of these things. I think

(16:44):
it has caused the President to say, wait a minute, I don't have
to beat this guy up to winhere, what I need to do is
project a forward looking as you said, but a forward looking positive. These
are the things I want to improveand do to make the country better,
and those would include economic, border, general health and well being of the

(17:11):
public, keeping us out of awar. You know, those are the
things that are all positive that hecan claim because the ideas are his out
there already. But to just lookat those and focus on what are we
going to do to really improve thecountry, and I think it'll be a
very positive speech. As I mentioned, Jesse Kelly is providing special coverage of

(17:34):
the Republican National Convention between six andmidnight here this week on news radio eleven
ten kfab What can we expect fromthe convention tonight? JL Well, I
think tonight is going to be aseries of speakers. Tomorrow night, the
Vice President should addressed the convention Again. This convention is laid out differently than

(17:56):
lots of conventions in the past. For instance, we did all the business
Monday afternoon and on Monday night, including the roll call, so it's just
a little different beat to it.And I'll tell you, having been at
the podium yesterday, the script changes, the agenda changes by the minute Saturday
and Sunday, well Sunday in particular, after the event Saturday afternoon, the

(18:22):
agenda pretty much got torn up andreallocated. So we should have the acceptance
of the balloon drop and the president'spresentation Thursday night as expected, which will
be really the big show, thebig night. Yeah, and we'll have
full coverage of that courtesy of FoxNews Radio on Thursday night. I don't
know that you'll be able to hearthe balloons drop on the radio, but

(18:47):
you'll certainly hear all of the pomp, circumstance, pageantry, and all the
rest of it. Here on newsradio eleven ten Kfab and J. L.
Spray, Nebraska Republican Party National Committee. Man. I hope we can
check with you again here throughout theweek. I appreciate your perspective this morning.
All right, thank you so much, Jay Ellen. Have fun in
Milwaukee today. It's an interesting time, isn't it. I'm on top of

(19:10):
having fun, and yes, it'san interesting time. All right, Thank
you so much, Jay Il Sprayhere on news radio eleven ten Kfab.
President of the United States couldn't havebeen more clear yesterday when he sat down
with NBC's Lester Holt and said tojust not saying him he's a man in
site somebody. What couldn't have beenmore clear? You didn't catch that.

(19:33):
No, I've had a chance tolisten to it five times, so now
I know what he said. Uhhere, let's cue this right back up.
He said to just not saying himhe's a man in cite somebody.
You got that one. Just notsay anything he's a man, Just cite
somebody. Yeah. He What hesaid was and this one it took the

(19:56):
close captioning a few times to tryand figure out what it was that was
said there. This was the issueof do you feel like your rhetoric has
led to the kind of charged andpotentially violent political climate we have in this
country today? And what Joe Bidensaid there was what do you say,

(20:22):
just not saying him he's a man, say somebody? Do you just not
say anything because it may incite somebody? Akas I say anything, I should
ie somebody. He went on tobe a bit more less, not a
slurry. Look, I'm not engagedin that rhetoric. Now my opponents engaged

(20:52):
that rhetoric he talks about to bea bloodbath if he loses talking about how
he's going to forgive all the actuallyfor me, I guess, suspend the
sentences of all those who were arrestedand sentenced to go to jail because of
what happened in the Capitol. Wait, isn't he the one who said that
he needs to be in the bullseye? Yes, but he doesn't engage in

(21:15):
that rhetoric. Yeah, Trump saidit'll be a bloodbat. He's taught.
He was talking about the number ofpeople that this president has let into our
country who are murdering American citizens, let alone killing our economy, and he
did use the phrase a bloodbat. Now, of course, people like President
Joe Biden are quick to twist thephrase and say, oh, what happens

(21:37):
is is that Trump loses and hedirects his mega domestic terrorists to not only
they're not going to stop at theCapitol building this time, They're just going
to go around and just start murderingpeople. So, you know, that's
what they want you to believe onthis. So Lester Holtz says, well,

(21:57):
you did say, just a fewdays before someone tried to assassinate Donald
Trump that Trump should be in abullseye. Biden said, it was a
mistake to use that word. Hesaid. I didn't say crosshairs. I
meant bullseye. I meant focus onhim, focus on what he's doing,

(22:18):
focus on his policies, focus onthe number of lies he told in the
debate. How do you know youweren't even awake for the debate. Yeah,
he said in a phone call withdonors last week, it's time to
put Trump in the bullseye. Now, I'll give Biden the same benefit of

(22:40):
the doubt that I said in tryingto you know, say what you know
what? Trump said bloodbath because hewas talking about this. Biden said bullseye
because he was saying, the focusshouldn't be on me and my performance in
that debate. I had a badnight, jet laggning whatever, I had
a bad night. Uh, thefocus shouldn't be on whether or not I'm
going to step down in this race. It's time to put Trump in the

(23:03):
bullseye. So Biden did mean putthe focus on Trump. But see,
here's the thing. I can lookat both of these things in a fair
measured way, but apparently you're notallowed to do that. You know,
Biden's has no problem saying, well, I didn't mean what I said.

(23:23):
But when Trump said bloodbath, hemeant it in this way. So you've
already seen how words can be twisted, and you have no problem doing that
to Trump. Yet when someone doesit to you, it's a lie.
It's unfair. I didn't mean thatand all the rest of this stuff.

(23:45):
Biden went on to talk about asLester Holt said, well, you have
been calling Trump a threat to America, threat to democracy. Biden says,
how do you talk about the threatto democracy which is real when a president
says things like he says? Sothe kinder, gentler tone that we were

(24:10):
supposed to get here in the wakeof what happened on Saturday lasted for what
an hour and a half, andwe were right back to, Yeah,
you're right, Maybe referring to someoneas a threat to democracy, which of
course he is, is not thethat You just said it again. You
just said it again. I'll goback to what I said on the radio

(24:30):
here yesterday because one of the localTV stations was it W and W no
k E TV News Watch seven spokewith a couple of local political science professors
about the state of our our climateright now with all of the rhetoric,

(24:51):
and so what I said yesterday I'llrepeat here. And talking about this story,
they talked to Kevin Smith, Clerks, Maul Rats, Dogma, not
that Kevin Smith. Kevin Smith inthis case is hey, political science professor
at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and he talked about how well assassinations
are not anything new and goes backto what happened to Kennedy Kennedy King.

(25:18):
He says, well, we arein a time of high tensions. He
says, we don't know the shooter'smotives. Quote. I think it's probably
safe to say that the polarized politicalclimate we live in certainly didn't help unquote,
And then he goes on to citea number of things, according to
the polls, that causes people's stressor anxiety when it comes to politics,

(25:41):
says, one in five Americans saiddifferences in political beliefs damage friendships. One
in five said politics caused them fatigue, anger, loss of temper, compulsive
behaviors. Thirty two percent say exposureto the media contrary to their beliefs,
drives them crazy, and so fortypercent of Americans report politics causes them stress

(26:03):
or anxiety well, especially when talkingabout young people. What the flip doesn't
the national anthem, the flag, working in the office, Monday's phone calls.
I mean, what doesn't cause alot of people's stress and anxiety having
to pay back their student loans theysaid they'd pay back. That's very stressful
and causes me anxiety. So nowthe beat is is that people just need

(26:30):
to take a break from politics.Be very wary when someone who tends to
be much more left leaning at atime when people on the left side of
the political spectrum are literally trying toremove from reelection the sitting president of the
United States, trying to remove himfrom his reelection bid, and people are

(26:52):
like, you know, maybe thisis a good time to turn off the
news. Wow, Why would anyonesay that on the left side of the
political spectrum, Because every time youturn it on, President Biden says something.
You hear things like what you justheard, as I said yesterday,
those who are saying we need tohave a kinder, gentler political rhetoric.

(27:17):
I'm not saying they're wrong, butyou can't say that this charge political rhetoric,
bullseye, bloodbath, whatever. Youcan't say this leads to situations like
the assassination attempt on Donald Trump,And I'll take it completely the other direction.
Let's say we ramp up the politicalrhetoric and both Trump and Biden are

(27:38):
out having a debate and they're saying, would someone please shoot and kill my
political opponent? How many of usare going to do it? Like well,
Trump said, you know, Bidensaid I should or it could or
whatever. You know, we're notgoing to Reasonable people don't do things like
that. And people who are alreadymurderous and crazy, they're going to do
that. Whether some someone says bullseyebloodbath or today's Tuesday. These people are

(28:04):
crazy and murderous. What a funcombination. Thankfully we got too many of
these people sarcastically, and so thosepeople are gonna do it anyway. They're
gonna do it regardless of the politicalrhetoric of the day. So I mean
those who are saying like, well, you know, we've got we got
to calm this down. I don'tthink you can blame that for what happened

(28:26):
on Saturday. Well, I thinktwenty five years ago you could have used
all of this language, said allof these things, and you wouldn't have
had the reaction that you have today. I think mental health issues are far
greater than they were just as Isaid twenty or twenty five years ago.
But I think more what you saidit so great, But I'm I think,

(28:49):
let me try this again. Ooh, you said it beautifully. But
I think the gist of it is, if you boil it down, you've
got people that know that there arethings that are going to be happening and
they want you to nothing to seehere, nothing to see here at all,
Just move along because they don't wantyou. And in fact, this

(29:12):
is the most critical time in recenthistory that everybody needs to be paying attention.
Wherever you're getting your news, youneed to be paying attention to what
is happening now. Lucy came tome this morning and said, well,
Jack Black is done. I say, what did he die? And no,

(29:33):
Jack Black didn't die, but hiscareer is probably did. Wow,
what happened? Then I get thisemail from Scott, the other Zonker's custom
Woods inbox sent to Scott at kfabdot com. He says, I'll never
watch another Jack Black movie again, old or new. And there's a lot
of other people saying the same thing. That guy probably just shot his career

(29:53):
in the foot I've already been selectiveon Jack Black movie. It is my
opinion that Jack Black is an outstandingplayer in a movie, not not the
lead, but a supporting character. And we can go all the way back
to stuff like The Cable Guy JimCarrey. I like that movie. It's

(30:18):
not everyone does. It's so weird. I love Itlity Eye Fidelity with John
Cusack is another one. He didalready as a lead in School of Rock.
School of Rock was really good.I think that's clearly his best starring
role. But of course you're weighingit out against like shallow how so.
I mean it's but I like Schoolof Rock. I only saw that for

(30:41):
the first time this year. Actually, Tropic Thunder is another one where he
can be And even in that movie, towards the back half of the film
borderline way too much focus on thatparticular type of issue Jack Black was having
him like, all right, Iget it, that's but you know,
I don't. I don't dislike JackBlack, but what the heck happened?

(31:07):
Well? Jack, in addition toacting, is also part of a rock
group, Tenacious D. Tenacious Donce wrote the greatest song of all time
Now we didn't get a chance tohear it. No one recorded it.
The song we heard was a tributeto the night that they sang the Greatest

(31:33):
song of all Time, which againwe don't have any audio evidence of.
This song. Isn't that song. This song is a tribute. That's an
actual slant they took with one oftheir songs. Lucy's given me a look
that's one hundred percent true, whichI think is absolutely hysterical. Do we

(31:56):
get to hear it the tribute?Yeah, no, probably can't on that
one. I just think that's sofunny. We did the greatest song of
all time, This is not thatsong. It's a tribute to it.
So Tenacious D is Jack Black anda guy named Kyle Gas. So Tenacious

(32:17):
D is on tour. I don'tknow if there was a local stop on
this particular tour, if they alreadycame, or if they're coming, but
I know that the tour is doneafter what happened. I thought this was
a tour in Europe. Well maybe, Like I said, I don't,
I don't know. They were someplacethe other night and it was Kyle's birthday,

(32:44):
and so Jack Black led the crowdand singing Happy Birthday to his friend
and bandmate Kyle and said, allright, make a wish, and Kyle
said, as if this is mywish, quote, don't miss Trump next
time? Unquote. You couldn't becausethe video I saw was shot from so

(33:10):
far away. You could see areaction from Jack Black that looked to be
like, I don't know how torespond to this, and so he just
wrapped it up and they moved onwell. Jack Black has since responded in
a statement to USA Today, JackBlack said he was blindsided by Kyle saying

(33:36):
that he'd wish Trump had been shotpotentially killed during their show. This was
on Sunday, and he will nolonger perform with Kyle on Tenacious D's ongoing
tour. The statement says, quote, I would never condone hate speech or
encourage political violence in any form. After much reflection, I no longer feel

(33:58):
it's appropriate to continued the Tenacious detourand all future creative plans are on hold.
I am grateful to the fans fortheir support and understanding. Unquote.
It's super easy to say Jack Blackdoesn't feel this way. He thought it
was funny. He's probably upset hedidn't say it, and the only reason
he has to stop doing this isbecause backlash, maybe sponsors are polling or

(34:21):
whatever. Look, either you eitherdo something for financial reasons or moral reasons.
In this case, maybe both, maybe neither. But he's still done
it. He's still done. He'scanceled the tour, and he made the
statement you can speculate has to hismotivation. I'll choose to take him at

(34:44):
his word by this, and it'sa it's a sad deal. Well,
if I made some horrible mistake ofand his horrible mistake was laughing about it,
he didn't even say it. Ididn't see him laughing about it.
Uh, maybe we looked at differentvideos, but at at any rate,
even if he whatever reaction he hadso that was that was his big There

(35:05):
was a big laughing response from thecrowd. Well I can tell you that
much, Okay, But we haveall done and said really dumb things or
especially reacted to something because we didn'tknow what to do or sing yeah for
that moment because it is shocking. So if that is a sincere I didn't

(35:25):
see this coming, I don't condoneit. Yeah, we'll watch and see
what happens. I know well. And and plus if you want to be
scared. I would want that forme. If you want to want somebody
to think that it would know thatit would be sincere if something like that,
well I would I don't. Idon't know. Finally, when I
finally say or do something that getsme fired from this radio station, and

(35:51):
I know it's kind of like withTrump, like, how has that not
happened already? I don't know.I can think of a few things I've
said on this radio show where Ithought, you know, would I have
fired me for that? You know, I think everyone in this industry probably
has that. I'm not going torepeat those things or apologize for them now
they're all said done, they're inthe past. Not everyone is given that

(36:15):
luxury when it finally happens to me. If it was something where I thought
it would be funny in the moment, and then it's it's like I hear
it back and I think, whyin the world I would like to think
that. I would say that's inexcusable. And I don't blame the radio station

(36:36):
for firing me. You know,I think I would think that you would
do the same thing. My onlyhope, my only really hope, real
hope on that and my career hereis. I just hope I don't get
fired for something that wasn't funny orthat was really stupid and I shouldn't have

(36:58):
been fired for it. Like II hope it's a real thing, That's
what I'm saying, not something stupid. I don't spend a lot of time
thinking about that, all right.Speaking of music, did you catch the
national anthem last night before the homerun derby? Oh boy? This is

(37:22):
a country music singer named Ingrid Andres, and you know by hearing one of
her hit songs, she seems tobe a very good singer. And here's
here's another way I'll try and insertmyself into the news story. When you
start off in the wrong key,it's really hard to find it, especially

(37:45):
when like, all right, thesong's going, I can't say wait,
hang on, oh oh oh,you know you can't find it and then
go on. And I'm sure ifshe'd had the opportunity to do that,
we would have got a better performancethan we did. But she powered through
it and closed out our national anthemat the home run derby last night in

(38:07):
Arlington, Texas with this. Ithink it was the fifth e If she

(38:29):
would have dropped that one I hearsomeone who is trying. Yes, absolutely,
I don't. I'm not trying tobe a terrible person to her.
She probably still did a better jobthan I would have. Yeah, I
don't sing the national anthem. I'vebeen asked at some events like I asked

(38:50):
you today, Well, and I'mnot going to. You know, I'm
always and I do practice it inthe car once in a while to say,
all right, if for some reason, I ever really really have to
where Because you have to start lowenough to hit the notes at the end,

(39:12):
and for me, in order todo that, it's oh, I
mean you got I gotta start lowOakridge Boys style. Yeah, you can't
come off going real high. Ohsee you like, Oh that sounds nice
unless you're a soprano. At theend, it's not gonna sound nice unless
you got that. I don't gotthat. So I've been asked a few
times sing the national anthem. Isaid please, no, no. I

(39:34):
I will sing anything at any time. I have no shame and a limited
amount of talent. I love singing. I always say I can't sing,
but I will, but not notour nation's anthem. And I having done
some singing things. I know howhard it is when you start off in
the wrong key and then you're tryingto find it throughout the song. It's

(39:57):
embarrassing, it's happy. I'm nota singer, right. If you start
off on the wrong key and youdon't have music behind you, then you
can correct yourself. Well, youpretty much have to just stop and go
wait, and you'll make a jokeabout it, but which you can't.
It's the national anthem. So nowpeople are saying worst national anthem of all

(40:23):
time. I'm not going to playthe other variations, but you probably know
them. I would say this isnot as bad as Roseanne Barr, who
was making fun of the national anthem. I disagree. I disagree. I
think that she really screwed it upand couldn't just like this young lady here

(40:46):
could not get it back, knewthere was no getting it back, and
so she just decided to have somefun with it. Should you have fun
with the national anthem? No?Mmm? But a comedian in this not
in this situation. I'm not sayingwhat she did was right, right,
Well, you ask like, whowhy did Roseanne Barr think she could sing

(41:08):
it? And who asked her whois ever like, we need someone to
sing the national anthem? Oh,Roseanne bar it's a good point. So
I don't know what that was allabout. That was she's thirty so years
ago, and she seemed to beshe seemed to me to be mocking the
national anthem. Maybe whether she wasnot mocking the anthem or how difficult it

(41:30):
is to sing is up to interpretation. Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas just
a few years ago, sang thenational anthem at the NBA All Star Game,
which they showed players listening to herlike Steph Curry was laughing at her
for what she was trying to dovocally with it. My daughter's generation,

(41:52):
My daughter's going into her senior yearof high school. So for the last
few years since this, they've allyou know, a popular TikTok video was
to do your version of Fergie's versionof the national anthem, trying to sing
it as badly as she did,so that for today's teenagers, that's the
standard for gen xers. Roseanne Barras the standard if you're somewhere in the

(42:15):
middle. Christina ag Aguilera was askedto sing it at the Super Bowl in
twenty eleven, where she jacked upthe lyrics and talked about our Twilight's last
dreaming. I don't know when ourTwilight's first dreaming was, or if it's
this, like was this the Twilight'slatest dreaming, or like this is the

(42:35):
last time there will be a reaming. I don't know. It's an issue
that some people have to address.Christina Aguilera did so at the Super Bowl.
Now, as far as I'm concerned, well, the number one reason
I'll never sing the national anthem isI know I will jack up the lyrics
because I've seen the naked gun toomany times. And when you said you

(42:57):
should never make fun of the nationalanthem, I would agree with you,
but for Enrico Palazzo at the theAngels game that day in California. So
that was Leslie Nielsen in the nakedgun singing the national anthem and screwing up
most of the words and melody, and it's one of the funniest things I've

(43:21):
ever seen. So therefore, Idon't know that I could sing the national
anthem because I would suddenly start singingabout a bunch of bombs in the air.
I've never heard it. What Idon't think I have. I don't
watch it. Yeah, that's you'regonna have to YouTube that one when I
go to break. I'm not goingto Scott's news radio eleven ten. K

(43:45):
FA emails here in the Zonkers customWoods inbox Scott at kfab dot com.
Andrew emails to Scott. I'm outsideworking on a deck listening to your show.
Once you played that national anthem, every dog in the nighborhood started howling,
God bless America. That's from Andrew. Thank you Andrew, and good

(44:06):
luck with that deck project. Thisemail, unsigned says, I've been honored
to have sung the national anthem atvarious events around Omaha. It's terrifying.
It's not like karaoke. There's nomusic, no teleprompter. You're not singing
to twenty inattentive drunks. Every person, sometimes numbering in the thousands is paying
attention. The echo in the stadiumis distracting. I'm also a softy.

(44:30):
I get emotional while singing that song. Fortunately I haven't completely choked yet.
I have had a note crack, but thankfully never forgot the lyrics. My
biggest fear, Yeah, anyone whohas ever sung the National anthem as a
performance knows exactly what that emailer istalking about. Now, did you watch

(44:52):
the Naked Gun Enrico Palazzo? Bit? I did, and I have to
tell you it was he was humorous. But when the police came out onto
the field and then they suddenly allstopped and put their hands away. Yes,
how have you never seen the NakedGun? That gotten really laughing.

(45:12):
I know I've seen it, butI don't remember that. I know the
joke is that Lucy's never seen anymovie. But how in the world have
you not seen the Naked Gun?I've seen. I've seen a lot of
it. I don't think I've satdown and watched the whole thing. And
I would say the same thing toyou about Greece. Well, I tell
you I've not been interested in watchingGreece. It looks really, it looks

(45:37):
shocking. Yeah, I'm trying tofind a clip from the movie. I
think this is the one I want. I said, Red Life District.
I wonder why Savaja is hanging outdown there sex Frank, Oh no,
not right now, And we gotwork to do. And I see that

(45:58):
when when Roger recorded that in allthese years ago, he had a pot
open in the studio and I heardan old Lucy Chapman time Sabred Traff report
in that updates It wasn't your fault, that was that was right happens.
That's one of the funniest movie. And in case you're like, why are
you guys talking about the national anthem? In case you missed it, I'll

(46:19):
play the last fifteen seconds of itagain. A young country music singer named
Ingrid Andres was asked to sing thenational anthem at the home run Derby in
Arlington, Texas last night. Incase you're wondering, is she cute?

(46:51):
Yes, she'd have to be.Scott Boys. Lucy just chastised me a
moment ago for never seeing the movieGrease and willingly not wanting to see it.
It's not like I haven't gotten aroundto it. I've had plenty of
opportunities. I've not taken any ofthem. I don't know that I'll go
my entire life without seeing it,but I am in no hurry. I've

(47:13):
got something like five hundred films Iwant to see before I see Grease,
and I own the soundtrack. Idon't spend a lot of time listening to
it, but I do own it. So now you chastise me for that.
I got emails from Justin Scott atkfab dot com. Zonker's custom was
inbox. Justin says, Greece isa stupid movie. Thank you for speaking

(47:36):
truth to power once again. It'soverrated garbage. That's from Justin. Kyle
says, how dare you? Howdare you Greece? It's a fun show.
You an avid fan of all thingsmovies and music to have not at
least seen the stage or film performance, you have no standing to to size

(48:00):
anyone for not seeing anything ever again. Love you, Love Lucy Moore.
That's from Kyle, sent to Scottat kfab dot com. I think that
emailer had it write it is justa totally fun movie. I even once
years ago when I was on inKansas City, they said, you want

(48:22):
to talk to Jeff Conaway. Isaid, sure, I liked watching Taxi
when I was a kid, andthey were like, I talked to Jeff
a little bit before he went onthe area. It's like, yeah,
I said, can I even knowwhat he wanted to talk about? And
I don't remember now. He's like, you know, whatever you want to
ask about Taxi or Greece. Isaid, Jeff, I've never seen Greece.

(48:42):
He's like, really, and helit up. He's like, I
don't have to answer the same dumbquestions about Greece all the time. Great,
we had a good conversation. Solet's see we did this point in
the show. Have talked about theinteresting night one of the Republican National Convention,
some of what Biden said to LesterHolton at NBC News interview, the

(49:04):
breakup now of Tenacious D after thenot Jack Black, member of that rock
duo. I had joked that hewished that the shooter had not missed,
and Jack Black says, all right, we're done. We're not doing the
tour. We canceled the tour.I don't I don't want any kind of
language like that, And then weswerved into the girl who sang the national

(49:30):
anthem at the home run derby lastnight. I think everything that we've talked
about and how we've done it isall now coming to it like funneling to
this next conversational point in the show. And I've managed to go what has
it been three weeks a month topswithout addressing this nationwide phenomenon on the radio.

(49:57):
But I think the only way wecan move forward here conversationally is by
addressing the cover story of Rolling Stone. Right now, you're I think I
haven't seen the cover, but Ibelieve the cover girl is well, her
name is Hayley, but she's knownprofessionally as the hawk to girl. Oh

(50:29):
you do know, I know thevery little bit of the story. All
right, How would you describe howthis girl in the last month has become
a nationwide phenomenon. Because I'm reallynervous about how to go about doing this,
I'm not sure I would. Shewas there was a guy doing a

(50:52):
live thing in a bar, andhe asked, this girl, you know
what drives a man crazy and acertain prurient way, and her reference was
you got a hawk to spin onthat thing? You feel me, you
get me, as her friend losther mind laughing. Well, now she

(51:19):
and her friend are now doing interviewsand she her name again is Haley.
She's the Hawk two girl. She'snow had a chance to be on stage
with I think Zach Bryan, she'shad offers to do any number of things,
and she's on the cover of RollingStone, who calls her a charming

(51:42):
gen z Dolly Parton, who's rightfullybecoming America's sweetheart. Yeah somebody sweetheart?
Yeah, I look. I thinkit's hilarious how this girl has become a
viral sensation and now that even somuch that you know, Rolling Stones got
the candid interview with the twenty oneyear old Hawk two girl. But who

(52:07):
I really want to hear the interviewwith is her dad. This comes up
a lot on let's say, conversationson the golf course, and I always
say, can you imagine if thatgirl was in Omaha and her dad was
one of our golfing buddies, hewould never ever hear the end of it

(52:30):
from you guys. Oh yeah, why would you guys do that too?
This is a twenty one year oldgirl who was drinking, who was having
some fun like she was drinking.I don't know she was drinking. Yeah,
but yeah, Well her friend putsit in an interesting way like why
has this gotten so i'd been sucha big deal And she says that I

(52:54):
think the world just needed to laugh. So she was able to make everyone
stop and laughed together, Which that'sa great way of looking at it.
So how does this relate to anythingwe've talked about? Well, she was
doing a podcast interview the other day, and she was said, it was
like a list of guys, likewhich one of these guys would get the

(53:16):
hawk two treatment from? So Iwas not drinking now right, No,
she just did anything. And soone of the names given to her was
Donald Trump, and she's like no, And so then that became its own
thing as to whether or not shewas, you know, like, this
is gen Z saying we don't wantTrump as our next president. This is

(53:40):
this is an endorsement of Joe Biden. And then it was everyone, you
know, all these Republican types onTwitter are like, oh, this just
shows the Hawk two girl. She'swoke, she has a woke agenda.
No, this was someone asking atwenty one year old girl if she wanted
to do an intimate act with thenear what a eighty year old former maybe

(54:04):
future president of the United States. The answer is no. She would have
said the same thing if they wouldhave asked her about Biden. I imagine,
well, I don't know everyone's proclivities. I'm sometimes surprised, but I
would be willing to venture a guessthat the answer would be the same.
So she was asked to clarify hercomments on Trump again, this isn't a

(54:28):
political candidate. This is not acity member of Congress, not a world
leader. It's not a journalist,it's not someone asked to speak at the
Republican National Convention. It's the girlwho's gone viral for the spit on that
thing, viral meme. And she'snow saying, quote regarding Trump, quote,

(54:50):
I don't want to be in themiddle of it. Whoever you want
to be president, that's your business. What's my opinion to you? And
I was talking about looks Donald Trump. I'm sure he's a nice man,
but you ain't getting the hawk fromme. What an excellent answer. He's
old enough to be my granddaddy. That's a great answer. He's from Texas.

(55:12):
You ain't getting the hawk from me. He's old enough to be my
granddaddy. She's doing the only Imean, after this whole thing, there's
really two ways you can take it. You either own it and you do
stuff like this. She's not atthis point, she's not doing anything related

(55:35):
to We've got a pile of moneyover here, and we can increase it
as you see fit. It involvesyou wearing no clothes, you know.
I'm sure those offers are probably numering, numbering in the thousands, and they
are probably incredibly lucrative. She's notgoing that route. Good for her.
Well, I check back with herin well a month or two when no

(55:57):
one cares about her anymore, Becauseshe said, it's like, look,
I want to do something that actuallymatters. I want to make a difference.
That's what this world needs. Idon't know that she's the one that
anyone's looking to to do it,but I can tell you this, She's
given me a lot of entertainment thissummer, I mean her and all of
the memes that have come afterwards.Has it been three and a half weeks

(56:21):
about that? Yeah? Yep,and so yeah. So the two ways
you can take it is to eitherown it and you have some fun with
it, or you just climb intoa hole and be like I had to
stop drinking so much. I gottaknock that off all right. Today is

(56:42):
a very important day. But ifyou are engaging in this important day today,
you are probably responsible for people gettinghurt. How's that for a broadcast
tease. I'll pay it all offnext. Scott Boyes News Radio eleven to

and Buck Sexton, who take overafter your next opportunity to win one thousand
dollars. I will have that keywordfor you to put on the pop up
window at kfab dot com at elevenoh five and at five minutes past every
hour of Clay and Bucks Show. That's what we got coming up here in

(57:29):
just a moment. Lucy, it'sa very important day, you said,
Actually it's day one of Apparently it'stwo days now Amazon Prime Day. Oh
right, This is a day whenI didn't realize I needed anything, but
I thought I'd well, let's checkon here. Always need something, type
in what about this? Like wow, look at the great deals on this,

(57:51):
So I probably end up buying somethingon Amazon Prime Day. It's today
and tomorrow two day sales blitz thatbrings more than deals on big screen TVs,
ear pods, AirPods, iPods andpea pods, alien pods, various
pods, vacuum cleaners, and everythingelse. A new Senate investigation finds that

(58:15):
Prime Day and this is on youif you're buying stuff today. Prime Day
results in a slew of warehouse injuriesamong Amazon workers fault. According to The
Washington Post, the rate of tryingto get everything sold and moved is it's

(58:37):
an extraordinary high level of injuries duringprime day. They find that it's more
than double the industry average, atten injuries per one hundred workers during the
prime day sale. Bernie Sanders saysthis an extraordinarily high level of injuries,

(58:59):
which speaks to the irresponsibility of Amazon. Well, first of all, I
didn't ask you to send it tome the same day you offered. Okay,
s we're gen Xers. We're fine. I mean we we're told six
to eight weeks week, dress stampedenvelopes six to eight weeks. If I
get anything before six to eight weeks, I'm still like, Wow, they

(59:21):
do that so fast. It musthave come from next door or something.
And secondly take it up with Osha. Yeah. So I'm just saying people
are saying it's irresponsible. Every timeyou buy something, some warehouse worker slips
a herniated disk or something like that, and it's on you. Coming to
