Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
There's loud going on in the NFL. Giants have an
interim coach Eagles. AJ Brown has all the leverage. Didn't
trade him after the Super Bowl? Didn't trade him at
the trade deadline? Well, AJ Brown knows he got the leverage.
Now they're stuck with him. What's to do in San
Francisco with Mac Jones? He's under contract with the Niners.
They'd have to trade him. But if Dante More doesn't

(00:50):
come out after Mendoza, there's four teams in the top
eight nine that need a quarterback. All of these questions.
Albert Brier joining us live Monday morning. Quarterback, Let's start
a J Brown? Did Philly can seriously think? Did they
seriously consider moving him at the deadline? Because there was
noise in drama. There's more after it, but there were
some before it.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
No I mean, I think they may consider doing it
after this season, but based on where they are and
how leverage they are to win in the here and
the now. They're defending a championship. This is what they
signed up for. They knew what they signed up for.
And this is honestly one of Nick Sirianni's strengths is
being able to handle and manage egos. It's one of
the reasons why they could afford to take Jalen Carter

(01:30):
ninth overall when some teams had him off their boards.
And it's why you can acquire a player like this
who wasn't always perfect in Tennessee either. So you know,
I think the Eagles long ago made the decision they
were going to ride it out this year with AJ Brown,
and you know, went past the trade deadline without much
thought of moving him. Could you get to the offseason

(01:52):
and could things change? Then they certainly could, Colin. I mean,
that's when you have the wherewithal to actually replace him
on the roster, which would have been difficult to do
in season. And we'll see what his value would be.
That's a factor too here. I mean, he's going to
be twenty nine years old, He's got, you know, some
chronic knee issues that it was part of the reason
why Tennessee traded him in the first place, and so like,

(02:13):
I don't think you'd expect to get back for him
what you traded for him, you know, a few years ago.
So I certainly I think that'd be on the table
in the offseason.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
But it wasn't. You know, it wasn't last week.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
We were talking about this with Mac Jones earlier. They're
in no hurry to being pretty back. Max had a
really good season, three three hundred yard games without Ricky Parasol,
without Brandon Aiyuk. I can see Minnesota if JJ McCarthy
plays out in the season and they don't feel right
and they're like they do in Indianapolis and go get
somebody they like in the league. This is how Darnold

(02:45):
and Baker and Daniel Jones' career has been resurrected. That
teams are like, we just there may be one quarterback
in the draft we like, we can't get him, Let's
go with something we know.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
I think Mac Jones it's our next reclamation project.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
What do you think the Niners do well?

Speaker 3 (03:03):
It's interesting you bring that up call because there are
some teams that are already looking at the idea of, like,
you know, what we do in the off season, and
could there be another Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield, Daniel Jones,
Gino Smith type of story out there to go and
seize it pon, especially, like you said, with the draft
class maybe not looking like what people had hoped it
would be coming into the year. You know, Nuss Meyer

(03:24):
get gets benched in the middle of the Alabama game,
Drew Aller is hurt, right, like Lenora Sellers maybe going
back to school. Bernando Mendoza looks like he's going to
go high up, but he may be the only first
rounder at this point.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
You know, we have to let those things play out.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
But right now it does look like there's going to
be more teams needing quarterbacks that are going to be
available in the first round of the draft, And so
you look at these reclamation projects and I think the
Niners would look at the idea of moving him to
get some draft capital because they have.

Speaker 4 (03:51):
To get younger and they won't be the only one.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
You mentioned Minnesota, you know, potentially looking that could be
one of the teams that's looking for.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
One of those reclamation projects.

Speaker 7 (04:01):
You know.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
I think mac Jones is in that category.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Some teams have looked at the idea, could Kyler Murray
be available after the year, Could to a toungue of
Belwa be available after the year. I think there are
gonna be teams on both sides this coin. They are
gonna be teams that are gonna be looking at a
player on the roster and say, maybe we've, you know,
reached the end of the road with this player, maybe.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
We can get something for him.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
And I think on the other end of the ledger,
you are going to have teams that are going to
be looking to see if they can find their own
version of Daniel Jones, Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
So I was thinking about I mentioned this that not
all coaches that get fired are bad coaches.

Speaker 6 (04:34):
Mike McCarthy.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
The two examples I have used to comp Sean McDermott
are Chuck Knox and Marty Schottenheimer. Excellent, but they would
not they didn't win enough in the postseason. They were
seen as conservative guys. They get to the postseason. Chuck
Knox could turn the Seahawks around, the Rams around. Marty
did the Chargers. But eventually people you start winning those games,

(04:56):
they want postseason success. So I've said I feel mcder
is now our Chuck Knox. Nobody dispute you can coach,
but there are holes on this offense and Tampa. Let's
say Tampa goes into Buffalo.

Speaker 6 (05:12):
This weekend and wins.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, it's I think the GM is safe and McDermott
is right bo that Miami game. If you went home
and lost to Tampa, I it's gonna get really uncomfortable.
Is there a hot seat with McDermott or is this
just media talk thousands of miles away from Buffalo and

(05:34):
we don't know what's going on.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
I think for right now it's just media talk, right like.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
But I would say that having a quarterback of the
magnitude of Josh Allen, who I mean has probably been
the best player in the league over the last two years,
does amp up the pressure on everybody to get it done.
And you know there's a feeling like if you keep
knocking in the door and you can't quite get there,
then do you have to look at something else to
give yourself a spark. I don't think anybody like you said,

(05:59):
would argue with the job that Sean McDermott and Brandon
Bean have done.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
That they've gone to the playoffs in seven of eight years.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Considering where they where Buffalo was when they got there,
it's pretty remarkable. Six playoff years in a row, five
AFCAS titles in a row. So, like I think you
take into account everything they've accomplished. I'm going to give
you another comp here that I think is probably apt
in this case, Tony Dungee in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
And if you go back and you look at the
mid nineties, right, that Buccaneers team that Dongee took over

(06:29):
was a sorry outfit, right like one of the doormats
in all of sports. Almost like you had to be
there to know how bad that was, to remember what
that was. They were the laughing stock of the NFL.
Tony Dungee gets there, he gets them up to level ground.
I think they made the playoffs four times in five years,
went to an NFC title game, and they kept.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Knocking on the door and knocking on the door.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
And as they went, Warren Sapp and Derek Brooks and
Ronde Barber and John Lynch were getting older, and eventually
it got to the point where he needs somebody to
put us over the top. It didn't mean Tony Dungee
couldn't coach. But you remember what happened.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
At the end of a one.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
They started to flirt with Bill Parcells, that didn't work out.
They trade for John Gruden, they won a super Bowl
the next year. Can argue whether or not that was
the right move for the long term, but it did
get them a championship in the short term. So that's
the one that I think of when I'm thinking of
this situation again, Like, I don't think there's any hot
seat there now. We don't know how the rest of
the year is going to play out. So if Buffalo

(07:27):
over to somehow missed the playoffs, which I don't think
is going to happen, to be clear, then I think
you start to hear a little bit more of that
based on where they are and based on the urgency
that's created by having a player of the magnitude Allen.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
The it's it's really interesting on the Packers. So all
of a sudden, Detroit's head coach has taken the game
plan away from the OC. Minnesota's got a JJ McCarthy issue.
The you know, the Bears are surging and appear to
have you know, the next great young coach Stikeen and

(08:36):
Ben Johnson. And here's Matt Lafleur with an offense that
is lost. They can't run the ball, and he'd like
to they they lost craft, but I mean, just no identity.
Cleveland losses, Carolina losses, can't score again. It is I
don't I think it's absurd to question Matt Lafleur, but.

Speaker 6 (08:57):
It is.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
With it it always Matt. If your rival is surgeon
and you watch Chicago. What do you make of what's
happening the heat in Green Bay and Lafleur in company.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Yeah, I think there are a couple of reasons why
people are why people are bringing this up now. Number
one is a changing of the guard at the top
of the organization. Right, Mike Mark Murphy was the president
there for almost twenty years. He hired Matt Lafleur, he
retired over the summer, and Policy, who had been there before,

(09:28):
comes in as the team president.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
They don't extend Lafleur.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Or the general manager, Brian Gudukunz, which naturally raises the
question like does the new team president, who extensively in
Green Bay is the owner?

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Does he want to bring in his own people? So
that's number one.

Speaker 3 (09:43):
The number two, You've got this group of young players
that you've built around.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
It's Jordan Love, but it's also a lot of the other.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
Guys around him that are right there in year three,
year four, year five, and this is when the rocket
ship should be taking off. And then you trade for
Micah Parsons, which only pushes the chip further into the
middle of the table. And so like there's that feeling
that this is you're all in year with Micah Parsons
coming over, with Jordan Love now in a fifty five
million dollar per year contract, and if you're not performing

(10:12):
to the standard, then you know, those questions naturally are
going to come up. New team president, big expenditure on
the quarterback, big expenditure on a defensive star. So like
of course that question is going to come up, like,
is this ed policies guy going forward? That said, I
think he is, you know, and I think if you
look at like the value that Matt Lafluor brought to

(10:34):
the franchise over you know, his early years when he
was managing the Aaron Rodgers mess, he was developing Jordan
Love in the background. He got Jordan Love ready to play.
There's a ton of value in what Matt Lafleur has accomplished.
So I think if this somehow goes the wrong way,
my guess would be there may be a staff shakeup.
There may be some new offensive coaches there, because I

(10:55):
think Jeff Athley's done a great job on the defensive
side of the ball.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
But I'd be surprised if floor lined up gone.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Yeah, finally, I know how this Mike Hofka thing is
gonna work is that the media is gonna like him
because he's friendly and smart. Jackson Darnal like him because
he played in the NFL quarterback end of the season
schedule for the Giants, the weakest part of their tough schedule,
the last four games. They may win a couple of them.

(11:21):
And by the way, he's not as bombastak or as
intense as as Dable, so the players will probably like him.
It's my substitute teacher, the interim coach. Everybody always loves him.
And then seventy five chance the Giants are like, you
know what, he's our guy. And I said this earlier.
Here's what works in New York Fatino Tory Coughlin, Parcell's

(11:43):
culture changers, where you put kind of a fortress around
your culture and it doesn't matter what the sport is.
Pat Riley Tims had a little bit of this. I
got an identity. It's a culture beyond just scheming. Yeah,
I mean I wouldn't hire Bell. I would go Mike
McCarthy or Lane Kiffin.

Speaker 6 (12:03):
What do you.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Make of I think this Kafka thing. I think I
called a GM. He said, Listen doesn't have much presence.
Smart guy, good guy, they're gonna like him, players are
going to like him.

Speaker 6 (12:15):
How do you think this thing unfolds?

Speaker 3 (12:18):
So I think you're right to feel like this is
a very real audition. Look, the big reason why they
fire Brian Davil when they did, and it's not a
Giants type of thing to do an insights season firing.
But it's the definition of insanity to do the same
thing over and over again and expect a different result.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
They're two and eight for the third year in a row.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
They haven't won consecutive games in almost two years, which
is pretty remarkable. And they had the blown leads, like
right like, so they had the big wins and they regress.
They had the big winner of the Chargers regress against
the Saints, they had the big win over the Eagles.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
They have the blown lead the next week against Denver.
Then they have another blown lead against Chicago. So clearly
they're looking for a spark.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
But the other thing they're looking for here is a
real evaluation of Kafka. And I would say this, I
would pay attention to the general manager's history. Okay, Joe
Shane was in Miami in twenty fifteen.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
In twenty fifteen.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
The Dolphins fired Joe Philbin four games into the year.
The interim coach there was Dan Campbell. By the end
of the year, Dan Campbell's hand picked coordinators were lou
Anarumo and Zach Taylor, and there was a feeling in
that building they had pretty good thing going. And then
they wind up saying, Nah, you know what, We're going
to go with Adam Gase. So look like I think

(13:34):
that there's They're going to cast a very wide net here.
That's their intention. They've done a lot of different things
over the last ten years. Right, They replaced Tom Kauflin
with the young, the young offensive assistant, Ben mcaduo. That
doesn't work. They bring in the retreat past Sherman, that
doesn't work. They bring in the CEO type Joe Judge,
that doesn't work. And then they go back to the
offensive assistant now Brian Dabon, and that doesn't work. So
they are going to cast a wide net and look

(13:55):
at a lot of different types of coaches. But look
at Joe Shane's history, and I just wonder with Joe,
is there a little bit of like a you know,
back in Miami ten years ago, maybe we should have
paid more attention to the interim coach because we had
a really good one in house in Dan Campbell. I
think that tells you what you know at least about
Mike Kaffkan getting a shot. And I'm saying he's going

(14:16):
to get the job, but I think he does get
a legitimate look.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Albert Breer, good stuff Monday Morning Quarterback, all sorts of
moving and shaking. Big NFL weekend, some real big swing games.
Good seeing Albert.

Speaker 4 (14:27):
All right, thanks Colin.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
I think the other thing that's fascinating, and I know
we're way early on this, but Mendoza for Indiana is
going to be the first quarterback. Taken a lot of
discussion now that Dante Moore stand at Oregon. That that
I'm telling you Mac Jones is going to be Daniel Jones.
He's gonna be He's gonna be Baker Mayfield. Somebody's got

(14:50):
to go trade for that guy because Mac Jones is
spinning it without his number one or two receiver.

Speaker 6 (14:56):
J Mack with the news, No tear on the news.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
This is the herd Line News.

Speaker 9 (15:03):
Seismic matchup tonight, Colin. On Thursday Night Football, the Jets
travel to New England. They were up to thirteen and
a half point underdogs. You'll see that some Jets money
showing up today. I don't know if that's dumb money
or what, but they're down to twelve and a half
No Garrett Wilson tonight. Obviously, this will be another platform
for Drake May to you know, show everybody that maybe

(15:25):
he's better than Jayden Daniels. And let's be real, there
is an MVP. Yeah, conversation for me. I'll be real, Colin.
I came on here like five weeks ago. I was like,
bet them to be the number one seed. I think
that's in play. And if they're the number one seed,
May we'll get a look. I don't think he'll win it,
but former North Carolina coach Mack Brown, who coached May,

(15:47):
said that he doesn't realize he's a superstar.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
And you know it's everything. You know, it's very Herbert.
He's humble, big, big arm moves. I mean that was
the call up out college. He's the East Coast, justin Herbert,
and that's what he looks like. Remember Herbert's rookie year
when he broke it. He had like thirty touchdowns. Herbert
broke all those Rutgers. He had Shane Steichen as an
offensive coordinator. The team wasn't great, but he was same situation.

(16:14):
You get a veteran offensive coordinator, a smart offensive guy.
He's very much Herbert that You'll get an occasional ugly pick,
big moves, great deep ball thrower. There's nothing I don't like.

Speaker 9 (16:27):
And humble reminder last year he did not start the
season at quarterback.

Speaker 5 (16:32):
Gerrod Mayo, the former head.

Speaker 9 (16:35):
Coach of the Patriots, is like, we're starting our best
quarterback and he.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
Started the other guy, Colin Drake. May's really freaking good.
I mean, I'm not ready to go top five quarterback.

Speaker 9 (16:45):
You know, I have Jalen Hurt cemented at five after
the Big four, but that sixth spot Stafford May, like,
you know, May's got to face some good teams. This
Jets defense is not great. You want to pick a
score here for tonight's.

Speaker 6 (16:57):
Game, thirty to thirteen Patriots.

Speaker 9 (17:02):
I don't want the Jets to win, obviously for draft status,
so I'll go twenty seven to nine.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
New England Roles in a snoozer.

Speaker 9 (17:11):
Next up, Colin, We've got more Chiefs of Broncos chatter.
This is obviously one of the best games of the weekend.
And now there's some concern about bo Nix. He has
not been great. I know he's your guy, Nicks. He's
been up and down. And here's Peyton, Actually here's Nick's
talking about.

Speaker 6 (17:29):
His struggles.

Speaker 10 (17:31):
Make this entertainment business a lot bigger than what it
is when we forget that. You know, everybody's just out
here having a good time, having fun, doing the best
they can.

Speaker 11 (17:41):
But for me, it's it's quite simple. Really. I dot
all my social media.

Speaker 10 (17:46):
I don't even have it, so unless somebody says it's
my face, I don't really hear it.

Speaker 11 (17:50):
And nobody's ever bold enough to say it to your face.

Speaker 6 (17:53):
I love that, you know, I mean that's probably smart,
you know.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
It's I think the thing that's been disturbing the completion percentage.
I can live with a I can live with a
lot of these numbers. I can live with eighteen touchdowns,
eight interceptions. The completion percentage worries me because I thought
out of college he was a really accurate thrower, and
I always thought you gave up a little ceiling with him.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
But he was a high floor guy.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
But now the flora's dropped, so I don't get the
high ceiling and the flora's dropped, so it's troubling. I
think he'll play his way out of it. I got
to tell you, giving Denver over a field goal at
home with that defense, it's I mean again, I I'll
tell you right now, I'm not betting this that defense
at home. Bonick's been very good trailing and I get

(18:41):
the hook at a hard game for me to bet
against Denver.

Speaker 5 (18:45):
He's got about almost twenty games.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Now, I said a week ago, I know I did.
I said, take Kansas City. But the closer we get
to this thing with ninety percent of the public on
Kansas City, now to.

Speaker 6 (18:55):
Me, it's yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
I mean when he was an Oregon Banks staff, he
completed seven of his throws. So the one thing we
knew is, you know a lot of starts, super accurate,
and now he's lost that.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
So it's like, wow, what's going on?

Speaker 9 (19:10):
Yeah, No, Patrick Stirtan, Obviously this is a tough one, Colin.
There's twenty about twenty games of dataf you and I
include the playoffs on Knicks as an NFL quarterback and
to see defenses kind of bottle him up. Listen, if
heart Casey's been susceptible to the run. Jacksonville ran on
him with ETN Buffalo ran on him. I need to
see Harvey get loose. If Harvey's touching eighty yards ninety

(19:33):
yards in the fourth Denver will be live. But if
he's in the thirty forty to fifty range, they're cooked.
Final story, Colin and the staff loves this guy. Jameis Winston.
He is starting for the New York Giants. Somehow leap
frog Russell Wilson. Obviously, the media loves Jameis Winston. Social
media loves Jameis Winston. He's a little wacky, he's a

(19:54):
little silly. Here he is talking about his expectations for Sunday.

Speaker 7 (19:59):
Almo fans. I'm gonna do my best, you know. Obviously
I'm gonna have fun, but I'm going to execute, uh,
have a surgical execution. Uh and just and just play ball, man,
Like this is something I've been doing since I've been
four years old, and now I just get to do it.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
In the greatest city in the world.

Speaker 7 (20:14):
I'm gonna be saying, what, my son, who's the greatest
city in the world.

Speaker 11 (20:19):
Yeah, that's that's a Hamilton referencing.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
Yeah, he's a little sholly.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
But you know what, he's a nice guy and and
it's his career has been, uh, it's been.

Speaker 6 (20:27):
You know, not all journeys are similar.

Speaker 9 (20:30):
He's gonna he's gonna transition to media very well, right,
He'll he'll be a smash hit on one of these shows,
the Sunday Show, pregame, post game, whatever it is. You
think he's got any chance to beat up on this
Packers defense on Sunday at home Darius Slayton.

Speaker 5 (20:46):
We're waiting to see if he plays.

Speaker 9 (20:47):
If he does it, Oh boy, Jamie's got nothing on
the outside.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Yeah, I like I like Green Bay. If I was
gonna include it, I'd take Green Bay. J Mickle the news.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by. Linew No, I.

Speaker 6 (21:03):
Just made a decision.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
I made a speaking of a surgical execution, I just
made an executive decision. I'm having a smashburger today. It's
a smash Burger day, and I'm messing around today. No,
I've been I've been doing good stuff. Red light therapy,
sit ups, you know, I've been to.

Speaker 6 (21:19):
All that stuff, life therapy.

Speaker 5 (21:22):
What I'm going to wait say more?

Speaker 1 (21:26):
No, you know, I just I've been I've been healthy
long enough. It's it's not a charade, it's who I am.
But today I'm going smash burger. I. You know a
lot of people are anti red meat, anti beef, people
that I don't enjoy being around.

Speaker 9 (21:40):
I was gonna say, Wow, you like hanging around vegans.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Speaker 6 (21:45):
There's nothing wrong with that.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
It's just I'm I'm going I made an executive decision.
I'm gonna go a little sideways today.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
What are we doing?

Speaker 5 (21:52):
Medium, medium, rare?

Speaker 6 (21:54):
You know what you you bring it on, I'll just
I'll devour it. How's that? I'm not gonna get picky? Okay,
It's the Herd.

Speaker 6 (22:23):
Prices so earlier today.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
J Max always love Austin Reeves and I think he's fine.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
I think he's in that.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Derek White, Although Derek White is a much better defensive player,
and Derek to me, he's a better three point shooter.
But Austin Reeves and Derek White love to have him
on my team as like the number four starter. Then
you're a championship team. As a third starter, third best starter,
you're a playoff team that co win a series. But
j Max said Austin Reeves top six domestic player. Okay,

(22:51):
so I'm not going to count ad, Jason Tatum, and Lebron.

Speaker 9 (22:55):
Who are hurt Halliburton too, you can't count him.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
Okay, I'm not going to So I won't count those.
I would take all four over him. So I'm not
going to count those four Halliburton, Lebron, a d and
Jason Tatum, and they're all better than Austin Reeves. So
here's the top tier guys that are active domestic that
he's absolutely not better than Anthony Edwards, Caid Cunningham. He's

(23:18):
not in the same class, Tyrese Maxie, Steph Curry, Jalen Brunson,
Jalen Brown, Devin Booker. That's seven guys active. He not
in that class, and he not close to Aunt or
Caid Cunningham. He not even close to those guys, or
Steph Curry for that matter. So here's the second tier
guys who every GM in the league would take over him,

(23:41):
Donovan Mitchell, bam On a Bayou who's a very good
two way player, Kevin Durant, and Karl Anthony Towns. You
don't have to love him, he's offensively one of the
best domestic bigs we've had in fifteen years.

Speaker 6 (23:54):
He's a great bang, a unbelievable store.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
And then third tier dude have to be literally on
cough medication to take Austin Reeves over third tier Evan Mobley,
Jalen Williams or.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
Powell Ban Carroll.

Speaker 1 (24:12):
In fact, i'd put Bank Carroll above Karl Anthony Towns.
I'd move Towns to the third. So that's I have
fourteen active guys who are better, and I'm not gonna
count Tatum Halliburton, A dear lebron.

Speaker 9 (24:24):
I just called a twenty second time out, So let's
rewind the tape. I did say he's top fifteen, which
puts him on the.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
All Star team.

Speaker 9 (24:32):
Then I got so excited in the live moment here
on TV, I said Austin Reeves top six this season.
He's top seven in points and assists. Okay, and we
could go side by said obviously Kate Cunningham, no doubt
about it.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
You take him.

Speaker 9 (24:45):
But the problem with the discussion, Colin is all those
Americans you named their number one options on their team.

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Devin Booker is the.

Speaker 5 (24:53):
Guy in famos think huh for a reason?

Speaker 9 (24:57):
Well, I mean Austin Reeves was holding it down with
out putting up thirty and forty points per game.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
I probably got a little excited. He's probably not to me.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Let me fill another guy in that I didn't count,
who's definitely a tier three guy, Amn Thompson Eran Thompson's
awesome every g. I mean, probably the best athlete in
the league.

Speaker 9 (25:15):
But if Kevin Durant go's down and shengun go down,
is Iman Thompson leading the Rockets on an eight and
three surch No, because he can't create the way that
Austin Reeves can.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
And I will point out and the staff wants me to.

Speaker 9 (25:26):
Let you know that you keep busting Austin Reeves chops
for getting worked by Ant in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
He did. He was also playing hurt.

Speaker 9 (25:34):
He had, like Brock Perdy and Joe Burrow, a major
toe injury and was not one hundred percent.

Speaker 6 (25:39):
You can look it up.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
It's well documented. So Reeves was playing a little wounded
and Aunt went.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
After I always the way I look at NBA players
is I look at you.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
Are you a one on a championship team? And there's
not many of those.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
There's not many at all.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
No, though, that's Steph Lebron, Kobe Shack, Magic Bird, that
is rarefied air. I mean, we don't even think ant
Is Jokic is. I think Wemby will be. I've argued
Jason Tatum, I'm not sure about it. I think he
is okay, but I'm saying, okay, that is a superstar.

Speaker 6 (26:17):
We know Austin Reeves, isn't that?

Speaker 1 (26:18):
A two is an all star level player that is
usually dominant. It's something Jalen Brown's a two. Anthony Davis,
a dominant defender, is a two. I don't think Austin
Reeves is that okay. So he doesn't have dominant physical traits.
He's not big and strong. He's a great shock career.
A three is can take over games in moments. Now,

(26:43):
that's your argument. That's Klay Thompson in his prime. That's
Draymond Green, you know, catalyst defensive. That's where you can
argue Austin Reeves is at he's in that three spot
where he's not a superstar. He's not a dominant physical specimen.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
Two.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
What is he Clay Thompson in his prime? Now, Clay
was a much better defensive player. Different I'd argue he's
a low end that or a super high end four.
Derek White, to me, is like the highest four in
the league.

Speaker 9 (27:14):
So a Clay comp is fascinating because he was a
catch and shoot guy. Remember, but he was an elite points,
elite defensive player. Yes, he was a superstar laitiate like all.
I don't know if can Reeves get to that level.
I don't know the answer. He's in his prime and
he's ex to Luca. So Clay was alongside Steph Clear.
Now you are now agreeing with me.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
He's not a superstar and nor is he a multiple
time All Star. You could argue he's a really low three,
which he is kind of a liability on the defensive end.
He's not a super athlete. He's not intimidated. Like I'll
give you a player who I think is a three,
but not a huge score. I think Aaron Gordon for
Denver is one of the best threes in the league.
He's awesome, unbelievable length, strength, can score, clutch defense. But

(27:59):
he's not He's not one of those guys that everybody
you have to really like basketball and watch him. I
think Jalen Williams is arguably the best three in the
league for OKC JW.

Speaker 11 (28:09):
Yeah, he's good.

Speaker 9 (28:09):
Jay, let me ask you, so, let's go back to
Clay Clay forget the championship, just him personally.

Speaker 5 (28:15):
He made All NBA twice in his career.

Speaker 4 (28:17):
Third team.

Speaker 9 (28:18):
Will Austin Reeves be All NBA twice in his NBA career?

Speaker 1 (28:23):
No West, no now, no chance, no huh interesting Reeves
is twenty seven.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
Yeah, he's just starting his prime.

Speaker 6 (28:33):
Yeah, but he's not going to get more athletic.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
This is what he is for at least three or
four more years. He's going to be a great athlete.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
Right. This is what he is. What you're seeing is
what he is.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
Now you think this is the best he's going to be?

Speaker 6 (28:44):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (28:44):
Yes, And I also think he's better with JJ Reddick
than Darvin Ham because JJ Redicks an offensive player. It's
like Ruey Ruey is what he is. JJ Reddick will
make him the best version of Ruie. But he's not
a great defensive player. He's a little inconsistent. Austin Reeves
can have stinker games, But I mean Austin is either
a low end three or a great four. That's a

(29:07):
that's a terrific player. That's that's Derek White of the Celtics.

Speaker 6 (29:11):
Tremendous player.

Speaker 9 (29:14):
Okay, I got excited. I'm not gonna lie the top six.
In hindsight, we have one of the guys on the
show text me, Jay Mack, you've lost your mind, you know?
And I okay, I got excited. I dressed up as
Austin Reeves on The show Man.

Speaker 5 (29:25):
You could tell. I'm a fan. I like the guy.
I like underdogs.

Speaker 6 (29:29):
I listen a lot of people like underdogs.

Speaker 9 (29:32):
Now you like front runners, you like the big superstars,
number one picks.

Speaker 5 (29:37):
Those are the guys you rock with.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Now an interesting guy, a comp what's Zach Levine? So
now I like, yeah, you like him? Alaw, he's a gunner.
Of course you do. So my take is my take
is I there's an argument. I take Austin Reeves over
Zach Levine. I do think Austin is more of a
winning player. I also think he initiates com untact and

(30:00):
gets the line. He's got zero. I mean, you know,
undrafted guy zero ego. That's an interesting Zach's the much
better athlete, much better athlete and just just longer, quicker.
But Austin Reeves doesn't need the ball. I mean, Austin's
one of those guys that could be the third or

(30:20):
fourth scoring option and be content with it. I mean,
he already said I don't need a lot of money.
So there are things about his psychology. I do like
he's a team guy. Austin's a team guy.

Speaker 9 (30:31):
Yeah, historically Joe Dumars or Austin Reeves, Joe Dumarsar.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
Is a good defender. He's a better offensive player.

Speaker 6 (30:42):
Yeah, Joe dumars Okay, yeah.

Speaker 5 (30:46):
I think it's I think it's closed. Reason might pass
him here in a year or two.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
You ever notice you like all these chuckers, You like
all these guys that literally can't even get their feet planted.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
Falls out for sure.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
Big championship game tonight you want.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
To, I'm in a live stream it for you.

Speaker 6 (30:59):
No, not, no, I don't.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Your best best wishes, though, were your often headband gun show.
All right, we're done for the day. We I've had
about enough.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
That's about all.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
I'm gonna go get my smashburger. In fact, I'm not
even waiting to get home. Got a calf downstairs. Wow,
go to that cafe bang.

Speaker 6 (31:19):
Got to live.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
You know, it's getting cold out here. Never know what's
gonna happen day to day in life. You just got
to go make stuff happen. So I'm getting to the
free throw line. Let's just put it that way. I'm
initiating offense to the day with the with a smashburger.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
You and Caleb Williams, Hey.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Don't laugh. You start looking at that. NFC North Bears
beat the Vikings this weekend.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
They're a walk card team. Absolutely no que. I mean
this weekend there's like six games like that.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
Yeah, Jags, Chargers, Denver, Kansas City

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero.
