year a Black Friday. Isn't this it the third or second?

Dolphins ran over the Jets and then there was a
game watch here. I forget between two. I just looked
this up for the show, so I shouldn't be wrong,

Yeah, I mean listen, if you looked it up, then
you're right. I'm going more on feelings, are going more
on facts.

But the evolution of this Black Friday thing, like I
think it was a thing for a while where the
NFL would like give courtesy to these other sports and
they're like, we'll give Black Friday to college football. We'll
give Christmas to the NBA. And now it's just like,
screw it, We're just gonna take it all.

Yes, yes, they want Christmas. They got Christmas, they got Thanksgiving,
and they'll take Black Friday. And you know, if college
foball doesn't figure it out, they'll they'll take January first
as well as janiu first, not the day that it
used to be. So it's really fascinating what has happened
with the dominance and takeover of the Nashville Lague. I've
said this time and again that what I truly believe,

truly believe is that Roger Goodell's the best that's ever
He's ever done it. And there are so many people
who want to take him down for some of the
things that they've done, some of the missteps that they've had,
you know, the Ray Rice thing, you know, the social
injustice thing during the summer of protest and all those things.

But to me, the real deal, Okay, the real deal.

Is is they're on every network and now most streaming platforms.

They've taken over the holidays. They're just fine.

makes money. His job, and you pointed this out, and

not nearly consistently well. It should be considering what the
view of how good the NFL is for people to

you two and their management saying, we are so popular
right now, Let's see if we just put out crap music,
how many people will buy it? I think the NFL
has been in that phase for the last two or
three years. How how much will the public put up
with our product? If we don't put into any improvement

because it's gotten worse and worse. And you could blame
the collective bar and a lack of practicing and training.
You could blame the quarterbacks going down, but we are
in zuopa. I think it's the NFL's way of being like,
just what could we put out there when people will
actually say, maybe I won't watch this one.

Yeah, And my point would be, that's not his job, right.
His job is not to worry about the quality of play.
His job is to make the owner's money. And he
has done his job incredibly well, incredibly well. And the
interesting part about it is if you look back fifteen

years ago. Okay, I remember I was at ESPN and
they used to talk about, well, if you're gonna go
and accept the money for college college sports but pro
sports as well, from a lesser brand than ESPN, you
may get more money, but you're.

Basic basically going to disappear.

You know, it happened to the Mountain West, the Mountain
West Conference, you go back to the early two thousands,
and they moved their conference Torment to Denver, and they
moved all their sports to the Altitude Network, and nobody
watched nobody.

Could find it.

Right, the NFL is so powerful that they move Thursday
Night to Amazon, and we all wondered, and I think
it was like twelve or thirteen million people watched the
first one. That hasn't been a thing. Now they're on Netflix.
Everybody seems to have Netflix, right, I mean, look at
the Tyson fight and how many people watch that? How
many people watch the Black Friday or the Christmas game?
(06:36):
Christmas games are on Netflix. They have violated some of
the core tenants of old school media, which is, you know,
the more you spread yourself out, you water down, you
water down the viewership numbers of the product. If you're
on every network. That's not what they've done. The viewership
is still as higher, better than ever. And they put
(06:56):
themselves on streaming, which should be a death nel to
those games.

And it's not.

To Jason's point. You could put any NFL game on
and the degenerate gambler in our country and there's a
lot of them, or the degenerate fantasy football player in
our country, which is kind of a gambler as well,
and there's a lot of them. They're gonna find it.
And whether that was part of the plan or that's

the plan that he's adapted.

Speaking of plans, I don't know what the Cowboys true
plan was like. Were they really trying to be good
or were they just trying to get through this year
and then fix the defense which has been broken for
the past two years. But at some point we can go, hey,
the Cowboys don't suck. They're not the best team in

the NFL. I don't think they're winning a super Bowl.
I don't think they're getting close to a super Bowl.
But if were, if we're honest with ourselves, and it's
one of the things that you're supposed to be the
older you get, but in sports, fans just aren't honest
with themselves, especially the haters of the Cowboys. Like I
think over the last year, you can no longer hate

on the three most hate able teams and maybe even
throw the Yankees in there.

Although the Yankees, I don't know.

If they were a disaster, but they were a disappointment
not getting too another World Series. But we used to
make fun of Notre Dame football because the hype was
way louder than the actual product in the field. I
don't think that's the case anymore Duke. Last year, it
was an upset when they lost and they you know,

a game that they probably rightfully should have won in
the in the final four, but it's not met with
the same you know, Duke is hyped celebration about Duke
losing that it used to be and the.

into it. Now, Jerry didn't say they were going to
be great this year, but he did think they were
on the right path. And I don't think after yesterday
you could argue that Jerry Jones was right, that Jerry
Jones was right. You know, they've beaten two the last

the two Super Bowl teams, and you can say, hey,
they beat the Eagles. They were competitive with the Eagles
in Game one. Shouldn't be surprised they beat them the
second time round. And no, the Chiefs are not what
they used to be, but the Chiefs needed to win
that game, and the Cowboys just beat them. They're six'
five and. One they do have to go To detroit On,
thursday but after that they have a schedule that's. Manageable

they can get into the. Playoffs so you can hate
them The cowboys all you, want BUT i think that's
a little bit of dated. News this is the team that's,
overachieving a quarterback who's playing to the level that he's,

on how the defense is, playing whether or not they
run a comeback route or run the vertical down the.

bandy's passing defense is a little bit compromise. Here we've
seen them give up some big. PLAYS i could See

YEAR i don't think he's gona win the highest on

back games of really solid passing, grades six big time

struggle to get After. Pavia Joshua joseph's really on the,

they can't run it and they've got a quarterback who

numbers on defense this Year Texas, Tech, Indiana Ohio. State
so you could Say oklahoma's got a top five defense
in the. Country AND i think it's very fair to
Say venables might be one of the best defensive mines
in the. COUNTRY i think they've got a significant edge

on paper on THE lsu offense in this. Game For oklahoma's,
offense we need to see more in the run. Game
we KNOW lsu is going to blitz the heck out of.
You they're great in the, Secondary they're top ten in
the country with fourteen. Picks Blake baker loves to send
the pressure top twenty across the. Board in all of
those blitzing and pressure. Metrics john McTier actually has been
better against the blitz this, year AND i think that

kind of. IS i actually think some quarterbacks that have
instincts and athleticism like him are better against the blitz
because they're not thinking as. Much it's you have the

with the dominance and takeover of the Nashville Lague. I've
said this time and again that what I truly believe,

truly believe is that Roger Goodell's the best that's ever
He's ever done it. And there are so many people
who want to take him down for some of the
things that they've done, some of the missteps that they've had,
you know, the Ray Rice thing, you know, the social
injustice thing during the summer of protest and all those things.

the collective bar and a lack of practicing and training.
You could blame the quarterbacks going down, but we are
in zuopa. I think it's the NFL's way of being like,
just what could we put out there when people will
actually say, maybe I won't watch this one.

His job is not to worry about the quality of play.
His job is to make the owner's money. And he
has done his job incredibly well, incredibly well. And the
interesting part about it is if you look back fifteen

they used to talk about, well, if you're gonna go
and accept the money for college college sports but pro
sports as well, from a lesser brand than ESPN, you
may get more money, but you're.

You know, it happened to the Mountain West, the Mountain
West Conference, you go back to the early two thousands,
and they moved their conference Torment to Denver, and they
moved all their sports to the Altitude Network, and nobody

Right, the NFL is so powerful that they move Thursday
Night to Amazon, and we all wondered, and I think
it was like twelve or thirteen million people watched the
first one. That hasn't been a thing. Now they're on Netflix.
Everybody seems to have Netflix, right, I mean, look at
the Tyson fight and how many people watch that? How
many people watch the Black Friday or the Christmas game?
