Speaker 2 (00:19):
This is the Best of the Herd with Colin cowher
on Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Oh, it's gonna be a Monday for the ages. What
the last four days we had? We're live, We're in Chicago,
It's dot Herd wherever you may be, however you may
be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day.
You get a lot of choices out there. Sark Steve Sarkisian,
Stop fight Urban Meyer, Stop fight Lane. Kevin's going to LSU.

(00:48):
What don't we make it? Affairs? What do we make
of Mike Tomlin Pittsburgh. Let's not waste any time one
hour from now. Where Colin was right? Where Colin was wrong?
So you heard the chance? Potentially? Did you hear the
chance in Pittsburgh as the Bills were rolling over the
Steelers fire Mike Tomlin chance and I feel like the

(01:09):
last eight years the Steelers are the exact same team.
They'll finish slightly above five hundred. They have the bottom
ten defense. They'll be better early than November, December and January.
And the quarterback plays limited because they can't run the
football and the old line is always in crisis. That's
what they are. You can keep running through quarterbacks and
left tackles and wide receivers and drama and running backs coordinators,

(01:32):
doesn't matter. The guy in charge. Mike Tomlin is tone
def to offense. NFL head coaches have gotten younger, smarter,
and more offensive, and these older defensive guys Pete Carroll,
Bill Belichick, Mike Tomlin, Ron Rivera Lovey Smith, they feel outdated.
And I said this, Aaron Rodgers, go to Minnesota or retire.

(01:54):
You're just stepping into Tomlin's quicksand And I would have
no problem hiring Mike Tomlin, say in Miami to stabilize
the Dolphins. I think he'd be a really good fit there.
But look around the league right now, who's the number
one seed in the AFC? Sean Payton offensive coach. The
Jaguars never deliver. Oh wait, now they're gonna win their

(02:16):
division potentially. Liam Cohen. Offensive coach Sean McVeigh is number
two seed in the NFC. You know who number one is,
offensive coach Ben Johnson. I would argue Kyle Shanan's done
a better job coaching than anybody outside of Mike Vrabel
this year, another offensive coach. Offensive coaches are younger, they're smarter,

(02:37):
they're more current. And I said this last week. Offensive
coaches can fix problems in the season. Defensive guys feel
like they need an off season. And I'm sorry, but
on defense they're old. The Steelers are expensive, Darius Slay,
Jalen Ramsey, they're past their prime. They're paying a fortune
for it. They got gray beards on offense and on

(02:58):
defense they took a defensive tackle instead of Jackson Dark.
What are you doing again? No urgency? This is a
criticism I said about Pete Carroll. Do you know Smith's
not good enough? Ron Rivera said, I got to Sam Howe,
not good enough. Aaron Rodgers. Don't blame him. Look around
the league. The rules have change. These old defensive guys.

(03:21):
I don't have a problem with the Miko Ryans, Mike McDonald.
They're young, they're current, they're aggressive. I mean McDonald took
over for Pete Carroll an hour later. The team was
better with the same players. So the last six Super
Bowls have featured head coaches with an offensive background. Doesn't
mean you have to hire him. But yesterday, finally, finally,

(03:43):
the fans said enough. I mean, you hold Buffalo to
three points and a half and you get rolled and we
don't even like Buffalo this year. We don't even know
what to make up Buffalo this year. Here was a
stoic and an honest Mike Tomlin after.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
That's an awful performance by us, but it's us. We
didn't do a lot well tonight. Obviously, May did.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
You have a sense for how restlessly frustrating the crowd
was To Ben.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
I don't know how restless and frustrated I was, and
so I assume they were in the same state we
were in. Man, I shared their frustration tonight. Man, we
didn't do enough, and that's just reality of it.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yeah, the defense has been the highest paid for four years.
It's not elite. Come on now, and this is not
just me or the media or the fans. We don't
even think Buffalo's creative. Here's TJ. Watt sounding like a
shot at Tomlin, the staff after the game.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
We need to find ways to be able to make plays.
And I mean I've never seen a team run the
same play as much as they ran tonight and have
as much success as they had. I mean, I'm out
of a lout of words for We talk about the
talent that we have, we talk about everything that we have,
but right now we don't have a kick ass defensive group.

Speaker 6 (05:07):
And that's all that I can speak on.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
I mean, you got to have it. Ben Johnson has
been in Chicago less than a year. They already have
an identity tough, physical, run the ball on offense. How
many years are we going to watch the Steelers struggle
to figure out how to run the football. Ben Johnson's
done it in twelve thirteen weeks. Mike Vrabel, still in

(05:29):
a rebuild, has got that defense planet's butt off and
not paying much for it. He can't figure out the
defense like it just doesn't work anymore. I'd hire him
maybe in Miami. Doesn't mean he's not a good coach,
and it wouldn't fit other places. But between this ownership group,
the great GM who left, the coach who feels toned
def to offense, the fans have finally come to the

(05:53):
realization that we have for about three years. This is
not good enough. It's just not good enough. And Oh
Miss wasn't good enough for Lane Kiffin. Say what you
want about Kiffin, you don't have to like him. Harbaugh
to Michigan, Kiffin to LSU. They feel big. Harball was

(06:16):
controversial for years. Kiffin's going to be controversial every four weeks.
This is great for college football. There's an attention economy
in college football. Dion did it at Colorado, put eyes
on the program. He's just not the coach Kiffin is
and this is not LSU much better program than Colorado.
And I say this to all the bitter people in Mississippi.

(06:39):
I understand you're hurt, but when you have signed up
for this exit, when Kiffin got there, you've been irrelevant forever.
I don't think. I think last time you won an
SEC championship was in the sixties. Anytime you're good, you
have a manning quarterback, arch or Eli. If I'd have
told you four years ago, Lane Kiffin is going to

(07:00):
burn you at the end, but it'll make you the
number one offense. It'll be the best Old Miss football
team ever. Stadium's packed. Everybody in the country is looking
at you. You'll feel proud to be a Mississippian and
an Ole miss fan. He'll leave you. It'll be ugly.
You that taking it on the spot. You date the supermodel.
She dumpt you. You knew it was coming. I mean,

(07:23):
you were cheating with Hugh Freezi years ago. So you
played the game in college football. You were paying people
when you weren't supposed to pay people. Don't get too precious,
old miss Your history was Hugh Freeze.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
You supported him.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
NCAA outrageous Nick Saban stopped recruiting in Mississippi with Hugh
Freeze because they were just buying players. So you played
the game before.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
This is the game.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
It's an eight billion dollar industry. I have complained for
years about college football. It's boxing. Bob aram Don King
made a fortune and a handful of boxers did, but
it was unregulated. That's why Dana White shows up and
the UFC dominates. Boxing gets organized. It's got a CEO, right,
it's an unregulated it's I said last week, it's bitcoin.

(08:13):
You buy it, you better know it's turbulent and you're
gonna get scorched. You're gonna have bad days, and that's
college football. I don't love I don't love leaving before
the playoff. But college football's calendar's always been weird, and
college football has put up no boundaries or regulations on this.

(08:35):
So the last fifty years, all miss five times has
had a ten win season. Kiffin gave you three, and
he gave you You're only eleven win regular season. Okay,
so and you got busted for cheating years ago with
Hugh Freeze, Houston, Nutt or ed or Jeron. I can
go through the coaches. Nobody wins there, kiff It not
only onenty one big, and the SEC has always had

(08:59):
one rule, always eat or be eaten. This was bound
to happen. And you don't have to like Kiffin, and
you don't have to like the way it looks. But
he's a ladder climber and a lot of coaches are
and I get it. Nick Saban get out of here
at Bama. USC fired him on a tarmac lane. Kiffen's

(09:21):
reality is Al Davis fired him weirdly. USC fired him strangely.
You think he's losing sleep. And if you didn't know
that going in, that's a U problem. Now, this ridiculous
comment that Lane Kiffen should be allowed to coach at
Old Miss having the LSU job. That's the dumbest thing

(09:42):
I've ever heard. So I don't blame Old Miss for
moving off him. I mean, that's just ridiculous. People that
say that on other networks. You've heard a relegation in
the English Premier League, you should be relegated as an
on air talent. If you're arguing that, I mean, that's
just ridiculous. That's not gonna happen. I'm rooting for missing
the playoffs selfishly. I wanted to watch Lane Kiffin. I

(10:04):
wanted to see it. I don't think they're as good
as is most teams, but I think they could potentially
beat Notre Dame. And they're not beating Ohio State. I
don't think anybody's beaten Ohio State. But come on, man,
college football it's like a weird black market economy. They
don't have a CEO, they don't have a president. The
old Wild Wild West in the eighteen hundreds when he

(10:25):
used to have territorial governors, that's what you have in
college football. They're called conference commissioners. All they care about
is themselves. Here was Lane Kiffin after.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
This was a very challenging, difficult day. You know, we
went through a lot last night with Keith Carter trying
to figure out a way, you know, to make this playoff,
you know, run work and the order to coach the team.
And at the end of the day, that's his decision,
and I totally respect that. I understand that decision, and
you know, so I just totally wish the team the

(10:59):
best of the life. I wish that I was coaching,
but understand that it was a very challenging position for
him and the chances.

Speaker 6 (11:04):
To be in and totally respect that.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
So, you know, just really really hope they play really
well and go win the national championship.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Good job by Marty Smith. There, Hey, listen, this idea
that Kiffin's trying to erect the program. Have any of
you guys ever gotten a great job, because when you do,
you take three or four people from your great job
to the next job. It didn't take the entire staff.
He's not trying to erect the program. He's not rooting
against old miss, but he's now the coach of what

(11:34):
many coaches perceive as the best job in college football
or at least top three. The reaction at that little
airport in Oxford, though, I got to admit, let's play
it sound up is pretty funny. I'm sorry that I

(12:09):
could watch that on a loop. I'm sorry, but it's
always remarkable to me when people get into relationships with
people who have a clear ID, who have a clear brand.
And I know Lane, I always got along with him. Fine,
he's not for everybody. I think he's grown up. But

(12:31):
you'd have taken him if I'd have told you. He's
gonna burn you in the end. But it'll be four
years of bliss. You'll be the number one offense in
college football. Everybody will be talking about you. You're gonna
make the College Football Playoff. You gotta signed up for
it in a heartbeat. It just ended up like bitcoin
acquisitions bumpy. You feel burned. Unregulated, that's what it is.

(12:57):
Don't buy the coin if you don't lie the outcome potential.
So I an ole mess. You know you're not gonna
let him keep coaching there and have another job at LSU.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
That's dumb, all right, J Mack.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
We got Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears. Are they
gonna run the NFC? How about this weekend slate of
games Bears, Packers, Thursday's Lions, Cowboys, even the Jags Colts
is interesting. I mean it worked out perfectly. The TV
games coming up starting Thursday are the best of the year.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
Yeah, and you got college football obviously getting crazy. Besides
the Lankiffin. I'm so you saw Pat Fitzgerald headed to
Michigan State. That's a home run higher. I mean, just
an awesome weekend in sports. So if you had a
good Thanksgiving mind with spectacular.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yep, same here Sunday night after the conference championships, which
I don't think are gonna last very long. I don't
think you need him anymore. They're gonna put out the
college football Playoff. I thought Notre Dame was in over
Miami for sure, than I watched Miami hammer Pittsburgh, and
now I'm I'm not sure. At least Miami can say
we got a great win over Notre Dame. Notre Dame
can say we've got a we beat USC. I'm telling

(14:10):
you it's gonna be Razor Finn. You just gotta keep
watching the games.

Speaker 2 (14:16):

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Here we go. Colin Wright, Colin wrong on a Monday
where Colin was right. Ka Parsons trade. Yes, it was
good for Green Bay, but I kept preaching it's also
great for Dallas. They were an atrocious run defense and
by picking up Kenny Clark and Quinnin Williams, Dallas now
has a much more complete defense and is still number
two in the NFL. And quarterback pressures, sometimes you have

(15:19):
to trade really good players. You know, Lakers let go
of a d and Lakers got Luca. I don't know,
worked out pretty well. I like Micah. He was a
better fit for a better complete roster in Green Bay.
Than Dallas re signing him. And I think both points
have been proven. Where Colin was wrong, I thought Lane

(15:40):
Kiffen would stay at Old Miss through the playoffs or
go pro because the LSU job is really political. The
governor stepped in. You know, I don't think it's about
the pressure. Lane Kiffin's fine with pressure, but and yes,
LSU is a better job. But I just thought it
was so messy that Lane would probably say, you know what,

(16:02):
I'm gonna finish this out. And I wouldn't even have
been surprised after Old Miss he would have taken himself
off the board if they finished number two or three
in the country, done TV per year, and waited for
the perfect job. I mean, there's a great college football
job or three available every year.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
So I was wrong where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (16:23):
I didn't think Aaron Rodgers should have gone to the Steelers,
and I think he looks like a beaten man. This
is a head coach and an organization devoted to defense,
and you can blame Aaron all you want, but they
cannot figure out how to run the football. What is
this the seventh or eighth straight year? So this is

(16:43):
an organization that can't figure out offense, and I thought
Aaron should have gone to the Vikings or retired or
be a broadcaster. I think all three would have been
better than Pittsburgh, but it looks like we said it
would look.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
Like where Colin was wrong.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Kansas City Chiefs six and six probably not a playoff team.
They feel disjointed. Dallas was the better team. The old
line remains mid, the run game remains mid or less.
I figured Andy Reid and Mahomes would figure it out.
Houston next, and the Texans defense is a complete handful.

(17:22):
Just not the year for Kansas City. I remain loyal.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
I was wrong where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
Ohio State did everything we said they would do last week.
I said they're gonna beat Michigan. They're gonna dominate them.
They doubled time of possession. They held Michigan the minus
eight yards rushing in the second half. I think Ohio
State's got the better staff, the better personnel, and I
thought they played conservatively. I said they'd win thirty to thirteen.

(17:52):
I thought this game could have been worse. Michigan was
held to one hundred and sixty three yards. Ohio State
had three times that they held Michigan to one of
ten on third and fourth down. I think this Ohio
State defense is in a handful of the best college
defenses I've ever seen.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
When the Lions lost Ben Johnson, I said, do not
hire in house. The greater the coach you lose, the
wider your search has to be to replacement. Michigan's finding
this out. This is a team now Detroit that played
it safe, played it comfortable. The offense now one in

(18:32):
five when they're under thirty points nineteenth today on third down,
can't get fourth down right. I got nothing against Johnny Morton,
but they have forty three punts this season. They had
forty five all last year. They are not personnel's the same.
The results are not.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Where Colin was wrong.

Speaker 1 (18:52):
The Colts. I thought they were a serious contender. I
thought they were a team that could win two or
three playoff games. The Sauce Gardener trade brilliant. I thought,
now he's hurt Daniel Jones. Listen, the low ceiling is clear.
They've scored twenty or fewer points in their four losses.

(19:13):
You know, the better the defenses they play, the more
mistakes they make.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
And I was wrong Where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I said, when saban left getting Kaylin de Boor, that's
as good as you can do in college football. Kaylan
de bor has made the playoffs. Yes, Alabama's not as
dominant as they were in the Saban era because Bama
doesn't have Ohio State money or Notre Dame money. They
don't have that kind of NIL power and flex like Oregon.

(19:40):
But this is about as good as you can do
when you lose a legend to get Kaylin de boor.
Notre Dame can't run the ball. They're not as dominant
as they used to be. They don't have as many
good players as Georgia or Ohio State. But to deny
the truth, which is Kaylen de de Boor is an
A plus plus head coach. But the reality of the

(20:02):
nil era is Bama doesn't look like Bama used to.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Where Colin was right, I didn't.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Buy Texas A and M all season. They got a
scheduling quirk. They didn't have to play Bama, Georgia, Ole,
Miss or Oklahoma, so they beat up on teams. I
mean they even fell behind at home to South Carolina.
Texas beat them dominated the second half. Arch Manning was strong.
They're not even going to play in the SEC Championship.
I thought they were good, but if you're ranked top three,

(20:29):
you're supposed to be special. I didn't see that all year.
Here's a bitter Mike Elco after the loss of the Horns.

Speaker 6 (20:37):
We didn't play the way we needed to.

Speaker 9 (20:39):
Can we close the door and run a professional press conference?

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Please?

Speaker 6 (20:43):
My gosh, sorry.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
The door was closed to Texas A and m winning
A Natty.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays
and Noone Eastern A em Pacific.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Well, I mean college football over the next week is
going to be crazy town, Lane Kiffin leaving old mister
LSU was crazy town. It is our number three on
a Monday. Miami may not get in Texas to me
beat three teams that were ranked in the top ten
when they played them. And this is where I have

(21:25):
a real issue, or I guess a real concern. I'm
going to bring an urban meyer three national championships Florida,
Ohio state seventeen years. Okay, so I'm going to throw
this at you. Miami can say we beat Notre Dame
head ahead. We have four common opponents. We beat three

(21:45):
of them. Worse than you. We have a better defense
and a better passing game. And by the way, we
scheduled an SEC team, we beat them too. Florida just unraveled,
and when we beat Florida State, they were good. This
teams fluctuate based on injuries and momentum. I think Miami's

(22:05):
got a real argument. And after watching a Hammer, which
I thought was a solid team pit, I'm sitting there
looking on the internet and I'm like, I don't know.
I think i'd have a real complaint. What do you
make of Miami's argument over Notre Dames.

Speaker 9 (22:22):
I wasn't able to watch it, but I'm like you,
I did not expect that. I thought Pitt would be
in a street fight with them, especially in the cold
weather at home, and I have a lot of respect
for Miami. They did not look like that early in
the year. Carson Beck was throwing interception after an interception.
But I'm going to go back and watch it. I
watched the highlights, so I agree. I think there's certainly

(22:42):
a fight for Miami to get in there, and I
don't know if it's time to go into this car.
I just you know, I mentioned this to you. I
think the committee's got to go away. I don't there's
a way to get around this committee. And I'm not
taking a shot at the committee. You have Chris League,
you got the Bear, you got mark Ingram, you got
Matt Lioner, Brady Quinn, urban Meyer, there's a bunch of

(23:05):
national titles. Heisman's a bunch of football guys. That's what
they do. Chris Flik is unbelievable what he watches, and
we can't get it right. We are in a I
mean we're gamning near in fistfights in that green room,
getting ready to go on big noon because everybody's got
and we we can't agree. So how in the world
are Athletic Director's Conference committe How are they coming up

(23:27):
with who's.

Speaker 6 (23:27):
Going to be in this in the playoffs?

Speaker 9 (23:29):
So I'm a big believer in the four four two
two one one that was presented earlier about the committee
goes away, the conferences take care of it.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
And that way. I want to add this.

Speaker 9 (23:40):
I know I'm talking a lot here, but how in
the world if I'm Brian Day, I go talk to
Ross the adet Ohio State and I said, get that
Texas game off our schedule next year.

Speaker 6 (23:50):
We're not playing it.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
That's right.

Speaker 9 (23:52):
Get me a good give me a good, Max School,
because why would we play that game?

Speaker 6 (23:57):
Right now?

Speaker 9 (23:57):
If I Chris Oconte CDC and Sarcusian, there's a chance
they're gonna be left out of the playoff because they
played Ohio State Week one.

Speaker 6 (24:06):
Why would you do that?

Speaker 9 (24:08):
So we're getting ready to colin arguably the worst non
conference games in the history of college football, unless something's
done where they make those games count and don't get
penalized for it.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
No, I mean, I think it's time to get rid
of committees. I think you're right because I when I'm
watching them blowout Pitt and I thought cold Weather Pit
good fistfight no way, And I'm like, man, they're going
to have an argument. I want to talk about It's interesting.
So Ohio State is favored by five six points against Indiana.

(24:40):
I know who the better team is. But I'm thinking,
if I'm Ohio State, I just come out of this
emotional peak with Michigan and it's twenty twenty five, I
don't care about Indiana. I don't care about that. I
want to get healthy. I want to be healthy and
ready for the playoff. I think it's a huge disadvantage
for Ohio State. I mean, I know better players. Do

(25:01):
you think there'll be a letdown for the buck Eyes
than they could get beat?

Speaker 6 (25:05):
I don't think so.

Speaker 9 (25:06):
I think the game was that was not a game
where it went down to the last game I was there. Obviously,
Ohio State handled them. I mean they handled them. I
made a comment before the game. He scored three touchdowns,
you win the game because that's how good Ohio States defense.
And I think the Wolverine offense is not very good.
I think someday they might be with this quarterback. They're

(25:26):
certainly not now. I don't believe that. I believe that coach.
He's been very conscientious. They've had a relatively easy schedule
coming up. They you know, you know, the quarterback is
only thrown going into the game, Colin, He's only thrown
twenty five passes in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (25:42):
So this team is not spent.

Speaker 9 (25:44):
This team actually is on you know, they were on
a pitch count pretty much all year. They huddle, they
don't go fast. They're only running. They're running twenty plays
fewer per game than we did in twenty and eighteen.
On defense, going into the Wolverine. They've played the fewest
snaps of all the major schools in the country on defense,

(26:04):
so this team is not spent there. They're gonna be
healthy going this game.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
Okay, So listen, college football schedule or it's its calendar
is weird. So I don't love Lane kiffen bailing on
the players. He wanted to coach the team, but there's
no way Old missus Gonnachic have that job. That's ridiculous.
But I mean, it's it's weird, Like I always kind

(26:30):
of fall into this. You hire Lane Kiffin, it's not
because of Charms school every day. I mean, he got
fired on the tarmac, you know, Tennessee. They wanted to
burn his house down. It's like, listen, I argue, I
argue this urban that Old miss has mostly been irrelevant
outside of ELI and Arts manning that if you would
have signed up for this, if I would have said

(26:52):
to you, Okay, Lane Kiffin's gonna come to your program,
You're gonna have your best season ever. Everybody's talking about
you number number one offense in the country. He's going
to bail you on you and take you off at
the end. Would you sign up for it?

Speaker 6 (27:05):
So every absolutely.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
Everybody in the state would have signed up for right.

Speaker 6 (27:10):
Of course they would have. And you know it's unprecedented.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (27:15):
I actually was texting back and forth with Lane where
they let me When I left Utah went to Florida,
they let me come back and coach in the VCS
Bowl Game. First time a non VCS school made it.
I met with the players. They were good enough to say,
come on back. This is a whole different animal. He's
going to an in conference rival and he's walked out
on players that gave him every day they got. So

(27:37):
I'm torn. I mean, I still I was saying, he's
going to stay for that reason that you can't laying different.
Is not going to make a decision for money. I
know I don't know him that well, but I know
well enough he's a he's more competitive than he is
worried about money.

Speaker 6 (27:50):
In his heart.

Speaker 9 (27:51):
He must have think it's going to be an easier
path or a better path to win a national title.
That's the only thing I can think of to be
able to walk away. And I mean, how do you.
I don't think he even met with the players. I
heard the AD won't let them. They just want the
best season in the history Bowl Miss. That team is
prepared to go make a run deep into the playoffs,
and he's gone. I mean I had mixed when I

(28:14):
when I saw that happen, my heart hurts for those
players and.

Speaker 6 (28:19):
Colin. A bunch of coaches got on that plane.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
That's listen, it's it's I said, I've compared college football
to bitcoin.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Don't buy it.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
If you're not ready for an unregulated mess, wild fluctuations.
You love it one day, you hate it, the next
you hire Lane Kiffen. It always ends bizarrely and so okay.
So I didn't listen nothing against Texas, A and M.
But I looked at their schedule. They got a break.
They didn't play Bama, Georgia, Ole, Miss or Oklahoma. They

(28:53):
got So when you play Texas, you better win. And
I don't care where the game's at. I watched them
get into a hole again in South Carolina. I thought
they were a fun watch. I didn't think they were
a special team. So now Texas, I would put Texas in.
I would what would you do with Texas?

Speaker 9 (29:12):
Well, there's six teams right now on that darn bubble,
And then you say Texas goes in the Notre Dame's out,
you know it's gonna be a tougher.

Speaker 6 (29:23):
I know, I know. I'll answering your question, I don't know.
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (29:26):
I think Texas deserves me in the playoff, and I
would not penalize that loss against Ohio State.

Speaker 6 (29:31):
You can't do that.

Speaker 9 (29:32):
You can't or you're getting ready to see old dominions
gonna become a favorite of all these big teams play
or teams like that because they need.

Speaker 6 (29:39):
No one cares Indiana is.

Speaker 9 (29:41):
No one's saying a word about Indiana's non conference schedule,
no one yet. Texas made a decision to get on
a plane and go play the number one team in
the country or to number two team in the country
on the road, and they got beaten a tough game,
and now there's a chance because of that they'll be
because if they didn't play that game, we won't be
out in this conversation. Of course they'd be in. Yeah,
of course, of course they'd be in. I'm with you.

(30:04):
I think it's unfair. And the other thing is it
was on the road. We didn't know at the time
Ohio State's the best defense in a decade. We didn't
know that right, So, I mean, we just didn't know
it's on the road. And the other thing is they
were breaking in four new offensive linemen, so it was
I mean, I mean we were saying how good Ohio

(30:25):
State was. We were like, we had a couple of
Ohio State guys that we thought as freshmen and sophomores
can start in the NFL right now. So I don't know,
I'm with you on this. I think Miami's got a
totally legitimate argument, and I think Texas may get host
I'm sorry, Yeah, I'm worried about it. Let me let

(30:46):
me let me leave you with this thought. And Jerry
DeNardo from Big Btn gave it to me yesterday. It's
one of the most profound things ever heard. It's the
only multi billion dollar business in the history of our
country as being run by volunteers. Think about that. You
have a you have a search, you have a committee.
They're all volunteers. And Jerry told me, Coach told me

(31:09):
stories where ads would tell him that they would have
like an intern come in and watch film because they're
so busy whatever jobs they have, and they would help.
So you have volunteers that are getting interns to help them.
Rank teams. I'm not saying they'll do it.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (31:24):
I just this is what Jared DeNardo told me. The
only business, multi bill b billion dollar business that you
have a group of volunteers are making decisions. I just
think it's got to go away and it's all play in.
Let the conferences handle it. It's a play in business
and that way, the best teams are in the conference

(31:45):
and they do it on the field, are in the
in the in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Okay, well you're going to be at that Ohio State
Indiana game.

Speaker 6 (31:53):
You're right there.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
Yeah, be a good game to go to. I'm actually
busy that day, but a big all it on TV.

Speaker 9 (32:01):
You know, I stood next to two teams. I just Indiana,
love their coach, I love the quarterback. Mendoza's got to
start playing better. He's had a couple of bad games.
But Ohio State, man, just that's one of those.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
I didn't see it.

Speaker 9 (32:13):
I didn't know it was gonna be like that because
they lost so many good players. That's one of those
lsu looking teams back like when I was at Florida.
I mean, that does a great looking team.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Yeah, they're they're big, they're big everywhere. Good seeing coach,
good sea color,
