You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we go. It is a Monday. We're live in La.
See that snow on the screen opposite here, seventy five
eighty degrees. Maybe I should call an send a plane ticket.
It's good to have you in. Matt hasselback in five minutes.
It's a beautiful, beautiful day, beautiful week.
Speaker 3 (00:47):
I had Weatherwise Common.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
Urban Meyer next hour. Every week at this time we do.
Colin Wright, Colin Wrong had another good blazing five got
Philly tonight three and one. Let's go to right and wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
It's time to all acknowledge what we've been talking about.
Jordan Love is out of this world. Good three tuddies,
one hundred and twenty one passer rating. He was the
difference yesterday. Green Bay's defense got really tired. He didn't.
He's finally got a healthy wide receiving corps. Green Bay
and the Rams best two teams in the NFC, and
(01:26):
a huge part of it is Jordan Love's tall, moves, aggressive,
not a lot of mistakes. It's time to admit it, folks.
He's elite where Colin was wraw All scale back on
my Cowboy Love. They gave up forty four to Detroit.
I still think their run defense two first round picks
(01:47):
Quentin Williams is really really going to be strong going forward.
But the truth is their past defense gives up two
hundred and fifty five per game. They need help in
the secondary. Miny mock drafts have them going getting Caleb
Downs of Ohio State. They're a really fun watch. I
love their future, but defensively they still need help.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
Where Colin was right said.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
This last couple of years, Josh Allen is the best
quarterback in the NFL. Not Patrick Mahomes. Josh is a
more transformational physical specimen for total touchdowns, one hundred and
forty passer rating, and he doesn't have a receiving corps
that's as good as Patrick Mahomes, so don't tell me that. Well,
he's got a lot to work with. He's got tight
ends yesterday. He couldn't trust in the red zone James Cook,
(02:36):
So let's give him the MVP again. He doesn't have
the trophy case. But the best quarterback in the NFL.
It's not Lamar, it's not Aaron Rodgers, it's not Mahomes,
it's not it's Josh Allen and has been for two years.
Speaker 2 (02:52):
Where Colin was raw.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
The Indiana Hoosiers are a college football power. Hard to
wrap my brain around that because I had a functioning
television for the last forty years. They went toe to
toe in the trenches with Ohio State. It's not just
Fernando Mendoza, because Ohio State Julian Sands a great quarterback too.
They the Hoosiers held Ohio State to fifty eight yards rushing,
(03:17):
and Jackson's great as a running back. They held him
to ten points. So this wasn't just about a great
quarterback and an excellent coach. This was the trenches. This
was Indianago and toe to toe in the trenches with
the number one program right now in college football blew
me away where Colin was right. I've been defending Aaron
(03:39):
Rodgers all year. He's not the problem. He's the most
redeemable quality. He threw the ball down the field yesterday.
He was moving around and scrambling. Seventh game this season
with over one hundred passer rating, and they don't have
a run game. Offensively, the O line is okay. After
DK Metcalf, what do they have at wide receiver. I've
(04:00):
been critical of Aaron before. He's a bit, you know,
moody and prickly, but he's been good forty two years
old or not, He's done a good job with what
he has this year.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Where Colin was wrong.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
The Miami Dolphins have won four straight. They have the
same record as the Chiefs and the Ravens. Listen, Mike McDaniel,
I always said, I like his schemes, I like his
play calling. I don't know if he's a head coach.
He deserves a ton of credit to go up and
lousy weather and to win the four straight game. And
they were the better team physically. I mean they gave
(04:34):
up a long return. Miami was a better team. Nobody
has quit on this team. Mike McDaniel has not lost
that locker room. They have the same record as the
Kansas City Chiefs. I was wrong where Colin was right.
The Miami Hurricanes are gonna jump over Notre Dame. That's
what I said, and it's what they did. The Irish
(04:55):
had two games and they had to win one. They
started the year with Texas A and m and Miami.
You got to win one of them. Miami's got a
big win and a tougher schedule. Their wins over Notre
Dame had to head. Head to head isn't everything, but
when you both have two losses, it's the thing. And again,
Notre Dame join a conference BYU did Miami deserved to
(05:18):
be in better against common opponents one head to head.
I don't really have a problem with Notre Dame bailing
on the bowl game because I think bowl games are
in conference championships are going to be a thing of
the past within the next two years. But I thought
Miami had kind of won public approval people coming out,
(05:41):
coaches who had played both teams. It was the right
thing for college football to do.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Where Colin was right.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Mike McDonald said it last year, I have said it
this year. He is the defensive Sean McVeigh Seattle. This
guy is no BS alpha, smart player friendly. This is
the second youngest offense in the league. He lets Sam
Darnold make mistakes, he doesn't over coach, he doesn't go conservative.
(06:07):
Seattle found themselves the defensive version of Sean McVeigh, and
they'll play each other twice a year going forward with
that eighteen years in the NFL. Matt Hasselbeck, as he
does on Monday, joins us. You know, I said this
about dynasties. They don't fall off a cliff. They look
like the Chiefs. They dominate, and they win big, and
(06:29):
they win Super Bowls. Then they start winning close, and
then the next year they start losing close. And they're
old players. You can see the age. And I'm watching
Travis Kelce and I you know, I kind of looked
at him and I thought last night Houston had more
like special players, Like I kind of think this is
how it was going to look, and to me, this
is how this is how dynasties end.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
Are you surprised, Well, yeah, I don't know if I'm
exactly surprised. I think the rest of the league's gotten
a lot better. You know, they don't look at big,
strong and fast and healthy as.
Speaker 5 (07:02):
They've looked in the past.
Speaker 4 (07:03):
I think I've said it many times, though details and
discipline are the difference in the NFL.
Speaker 5 (07:07):
It's not always that big of a gap in talent.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
And then when your star player doesn't play his best
and because of the reason, you know, guys around him.
Maybe it's drops, maybe it's throwing laid down the middle,
it's stuff you used to get away with. I mean,
the three turnovers are uncharacteristic, they're really bad interceptions that
he had yesterday. But details discipline drops third down, There's
a lot of blame to go around. Listen, they've had
continuity on the offensive staff or really on the staff.
Speaker 5 (07:31):
In general for a long time. That can be a blessing.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
It can also be, you know, an opportunity to get complacent.
And obviously, you know, we're used to them making the
best decisions and coaching, game management and kind of that
kind of stuff, and that wasn't the case last night
as well, So a lot of blame to go around.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
This clearly just doesn't seem to be like their year.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
So Packers Bears was wildly entertaining. Green Bay dominates the
first half. Bears had a very good second half. You know,
I think everybody's sort of waged to say, Okay, the
Bears are legit. They beat Philadelphia in Philly, and a
lot of people said, well, the Eagles are broken. I
don't know. I said earlier, I thought this was about
as good a loss. I mean, green Bay was favored
(08:12):
by a touchdown. They're at home, They've been great for
three decades. Chicago doesn't get in games like this where
it matters. They don't get into these big games. They
had a bad first half. I watched that second half,
and I'm like, green Bay's tired, like they Chicago's does
what good teams do in second halfs. Do you feel
this legitimized the Bears even though they lost.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
I mean, I think the Bears are legitimate anyway. I
just last week I said, listen, I love this team.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
I really do.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
I'm not sold on their quarterback, and they don't think
they're the one seed. You know, and the amount of
hate I received that those two statements is wild.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
I feel the same.
Speaker 5 (08:47):
I feel the same.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
I think Ben.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Johnson's special, I like, really, really special. I actually love
the play call at the end of the game. I
think it's a game winner. If not, it's a first down.
Like I believe in this team. I think the Packers
have something special too. There's gonna be another epic matchup.
I was part of this rivalry. I understand it for
three years. It's wild stuff happens. This is a wild game.
There's gonna be another matchup. I think it'll be even better.
(09:11):
You know, the handshakes funny to me, and like all
this trash talk from the head coaches, going back to
the press conference when Ben Johnson got hired, it wouldn't
even surprise me if secretly these guys are like best
friends and going on vacation together, and it wouldn't surprise me.
This is gonna be a great rivalry for years to come.
Be a great matchup the next one, I do think.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
I say it again.
Speaker 4 (09:32):
I hate to pile on because a young player and
a talented player, but Caleb does the stuff that scouts
absolutely drool over, and he does the stuff that coaches
pull their hair out over.
Speaker 5 (09:41):
You know.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
It's like, so he's just got to grow up to
the speed of a team that's trying.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
To hoist a Lombardi. He's got to grow up quickly.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Yeah, the you know, it's funny, Matt. For the previous
five or six seven years, I thought the AFC was
better because they landed all these quarterbacks and Allen and
Mahomes and Burrow, and they hit on all of them.
Speaker 6 (10:02):
C J.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Stroud. But I watched the NFC now and I'm I'm
watching the Bears, and I'm watching the Rams yesterday, good God.
And I'm watching and I'll watch Philadelphia tonight. I do
feel like the NFC is better. I'm watching this game.
I felt like watching Ohio State Indiana. I'm like, I
think the Big Ten has the two best teams, maybe Georgia.
(10:23):
I watched Green Bay and I thought in Chicago and
I thought, yeah, I mean, this is the kind of
thing we watched in the AFC. I mean, let's talk
in Green Bay like I could see them winning the
Super Bowl. Like they're polished. I don't know a lot
of flaws. What's green Bay's flaw?
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Well, yeah, I mean you mentioned those teams. You mentioned
the Rams, you mentioned Green Bay. I would throw Chicago
in there too. Teams that are really really good at
running the football. Green Bay they didn't get too cute
last night.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
They just said, Hey, this.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
Is going to be a Josh Jacobs game. We're gonna
play great defense or winning put this. We're gonna you know,
we're gonna be physical, We're gonna you know, run the
ball at the one yard line, that kind of stuff.
And then if you want to come at us, well,
Jordan Leve will make you pay, you know. So I
think this is a young team, uh in a lot
of ways. But I think they're building for December and
building for January. And I think Sean McVay is doing
(11:17):
the same thing. Listen, mattlet Floor, Sean McVay, they're kind
of cut from that same cloth.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
And uh, I think the.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
Difference is gonna be one of these teams with the
strong run game, good defense, their quarterback plays above the
x's and o's the way that Matthew Stafford has been.
So can Green Bay do that? Can Jordan Love kind
of like step into that potential that he has. I
think he's ready to do that. But this this should
be a great, great playoff run for the NFC side
(11:43):
of it.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Yeah, Hey, I got to ask you about a couple
of things. I want to ask you about a call
in the Steelers Ravens game. So it was my understanding
in the middle of the field non end zone, did
you ball security number one? Do you have the ball two?
Feet down and then to move forward. And because the NFL,
(12:04):
I was told this years ago, they don't like fumbles.
They don't want the game played in between the thirties
with fumbles, so they want that move forward. But in
the end zone, Matt, there is nowhere to move to.
I see that as a touchdown. What do you see?
Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (12:21):
I mean the online everyone is going nuts, and I
think I get it. You know, they were going nuts.
I thought the best description of this was Gene Sterotor,
the former official. He got on Twitter X whatever it's
called now. He got on there and said, hey, here
is the rule. So everyone's mad at the officials, you
need to be mad at the people that are writing
the rule. And like, for me, this goes back to
(12:43):
you know, the NFL struggled with what is a catch
and all this stuff for years, right, I think this
goes back to you catch the ball, the ball's over
the gold line. I think we all would agree if
we're doing this in my front yard or in the
driveway as kids, we're saying, hey, that's a touchdown. I
do think this is something that I'll get addressed again.
I don't think it's the fault of the guys in
the stripes.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
They're just they're just carrying out with the sort of
how it's written.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
So when you think about Buffalo, here's the good news
we saw this weekend. The weather's getting horrible, right and
when it's horrible, you know this, You got to run
the ball. That forget your vertical passing game. Buffalo runs
the ball the quarterback does, James Cook does. And they're
(13:27):
very tight end centric. I mean they're receivers. Gave Davis
had two catches. It's all kincaid, it's all knocks. I
look at Buffalo and I think, actually, for the first
time ever, I want Josh Allen playing in snow because
if the weather's good, they could lose to anybody on
the back end. I mean, Joe Burrow went up and
down the field in the snowstorm with an average offensive line.
(13:47):
Do you worry? I mean I look at him and
I said, it reminds me of Lebron in Cleveland. Josh
Allen has had to score six touchdowns four touchdowns, four
touchdowns three to this year, they're three and zero. When
they've allowed thirty two or more. The rest of the
league is six sixty one and two. It's hard for
me to believe they're a super Bowl team. But Burrow
(14:10):
mahomes lamar. They know they're not going to make the playoffs.
Maybe where are you on Buffalo?
Speaker 2 (14:18):
I hear what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (14:19):
I would just say as a quarterback though, like when
your defense struggles statistically, it's almost more fun for you
as a quarterback, like you can just kind of cut
it loose and play like you're at recess, which is
how Josh Allen likes to play. Anyway, you said you
weren't sure if you'd liked him and the Snow. I
love Josh Allen in the Snow. You know, the Wyoming Cowboy,
the Buffalo bill like.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
I think it works.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
I've been very critical of Buffalo's defense. I agree.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
I think there's a lot of room for improvement. However,
they have created turnovers. You know, the two Burrow turnovers
in this game got them back in the game. And
then you get that sudden change opportunity for Josh Allen.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Here's what happens as a quarterback.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
You're sitting on the bench, You're thinking Joe Burrow's out there,
and all of a sudden interception happens. The stadium goes
out you're like, boom, sudden change. Now there's like this
like momentum that you have. Josh Allen's got the ball, touchdown, touchdown,
Like it's an excitement thing. So as long as this
defense can keep creating turnovers, it works. But if they
don't get the turnover part of the puzzle, then then no,
(15:19):
they're probably not hoisting the Lobardi this year.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
So the Eagles did something. Saquon Barkley sort of rolled
his eyes. They brought a positivity rabbit into the you know,
they're trying to change the vibe into the locker room,
and it feels like one of those things management does
that thinks is cool and everybody's like that is cringe.
(15:44):
I think tonight Philly turns a corner. I kind of
have a feeling they're gonna get it right. Where are
you on the positivity rabbit and the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Yeah, I don't know whose idea this was, but I
will just say in the NFL, like the season gets long,
and usually there's a lot of I don't want to
call it rookie hazing, but there's usually a lot of responsibilities.
Speaker 5 (16:08):
Usually the o ing is the kind of behind some
of this stuff and you.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
You know, the rookies decorate the meeting room or decorate
the locker room, or they're responsible for bringing quote unquote
holiday cheer to the to the building, and so you know,
I don't know where it comes from, but teams can't
jump on stuff like this. I mean, it wasn't that
long ago that the Eagles jumped on the whole underdog thing,
you know, like and wore the masks and all that
(16:31):
because people were counting them out.
Speaker 5 (16:33):
So if they get on a roll and they get on.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
A tear, like I could see what is the positivity bunda, hey,
whatever whatever it takes, I could see it. You know,
it's like the playoff Beard. You just you do it
if it if you need something. But the origins, I
mean the rolling of the eyes this thing.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
I mean, I could tell you a.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
Story after story after like quote unquote hazing opportunities for
young guys that some of them turned out to be
awesome and you earn the respect to the team and
you were one of the guys. Others they were like,
get this dude out of our locker room, don't ever
come back, go play for somebody else. It's a real
thing that can happen.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Okay. I know it's not not all franchise quarterbacks or
Josh Allen, but I mean there's a lot of mids.
And I watched Sador Sanders again this weekend and I'm like,
I don't know, it looks like the Colorado kid. I
don't think he has a great trait, a great arm,
(17:29):
great athleticism. I do think he's better than a fifth
round draft pick. I mean, I watched Kenny Pickett get
drafted in the first round. I watched about six starts,
and I'm like, that's not a franchise guy. It's not
a big story, especially because at least Tebau was winning.
But I think he's a lot better than Tebou. What
are we to say after a few starts on schdur Sanders,
(17:50):
bad weather, four hundred yards, not a very good receiving corps.
It's something, right.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Yeah, it's something.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
I think they're going to be encouraged by it. I
think they're going to say, hey, there something to work
with here. There's a lot of things that stand out
that are uncoachable, and then there's the stuff that we
can fix. Listen, you got you got him, you got
JJ McCarthy cam Ward. Some guys, they're young guys. They're
just out there running plays. Playoffs are done. They're just
out there running plays, and the teams are saying, hey,
let's see what we can find out about this guy
(18:18):
so we can make a decision on our quarterback room
for next year. You know, Tyler Shuck, I think is
an example of another guy taking advantage of that. Ironically,
Jackson Dart, who had the best year of the class,
he's out and Riley Leonard is gonna be the guy
playing relevant snaps at the end here. But with all
that being said, all eyes are going to be on
shraudor everything's gonna be under the microscope. But I do
(18:39):
think they're going to give him the opportunity. I think
it's gonna be his to have the rest of the season,
and you know they're gonna they're gonna say, Okay, can
he make the improvements that we're asking him to make?
Much like the way that Caleb Williams last year, it
was taking sacks, it was body language. He really improved
on those things, and let's just see it. Can we
get him to the next level. Should for me, is
(19:01):
doing a lot better than a lot of people were
counting on him doing.
Speaker 1 (19:04):
By the way, Stefanski just announced that Sador Sanders will
start the rest of the season. So you just called it.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
So if you look, it's interesting. Sometimes you get a
reputation and it sticks. So because Sam Darnold threw a
lot of picks with the Jets and because of last
year at the end, people are like, you can't trust him.
In the last two years, two different teams, two different coaches,
(19:31):
two different O lines, two different coordinators. He leads the
NFL and wins. He's like second or third and passing touchdowns.
They now have six times this season blown a team out.
This doesn't happen much in the NFL by fourteen or more.
I'm watching them yesterday and I know it's Atlanta, I know,
but I'm watching them nobody. It feels like nobody's talking
(19:52):
about him. We're talking about the Rams, so we're talking
about the Eagles, and we're talking about the Packers, and
we're talking about the Bills. I want you you've been
on Seattle. This coach, this defense, Sam Donald is so aggressive.
Jsn's unguardable. Are we all sleeping on Seattle?
Speaker 4 (20:10):
Yeah, no doubt. And used to be sleepless in Seattle.
Now it's sleeping on Seattle. Their defense is the real deal,
real deal. JSN might be the might be the best
wide receiver in the game right now. I would say
even possibly an MVP candidate. And listen, I watch all
their games. I mean, Drew Locks played in a ton
of games because it's like, we're just blowing you out.
(20:31):
We want to just get Sam out of the game.
I think Sam Donald's a really good quarterback. What I
love that he did yesterday is that he used his legs.
I think sometimes I mentioned this, quarterbacks they wear like
a different color jersey and practice and they almost forget about,
especially the guys that are dropback passers, they forget about
using their legs as a weapon.
Speaker 5 (20:48):
He's really good at that as well.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
So you know this, for this team, it's going to
come back down to a Rams versus Seattle matchup near
the end of the year, and then I think they
finished with the forty nine ers two you know, nine
to ten win type teams right now, and it's gonna
be it's gonna be a challenge for them. They could
absolutely think they actually control their destiny to be the
(21:10):
one seed, have the buy, host, home field, all that stuff.
So it's right in front of them, and Sam Darnold
gets to quiet those critics, and I think you can.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
Yeah, right now we're showing our television audience. The Rams
are a one seed, Green Bay two. Those are excellent teams.
If you're asking me, I'd say Seattle is the third
best team I've seen in the NFC. They're a five seed, and.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
Look at that list right there, Colin.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
I mean, you've got the Seahawks has a wild card
as the five seed, but I believe if they win out,
they win their next four, they're the one seed and
that's all it takes for them.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
They control it.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Yeah, they get the Rams in Seattle. So to your point, listen,
we're all forgetting the Niners are off a buy. I
mean it's the NF seat is I mean, the number
one offense is Dallas. They're not even clawed. I mean
they're six. And so there is a lot of depth
in the NFC. Matt as always buddy great sing you
(22:06):
see gone. I'm just I'm watching that Seattle game, and yeah,
Sam throws some picks, but you know, this is the
year kind of redemption, Like everybody sold their stock on
Trevor Lawrence. You're like, it's been pretty good. Everybody's like
Sam last year, get rid of it. He's been great.
It's you know, Jordan Love. A lot of doubters. Oh,
(22:27):
he's been unbelievable. A little bit of a redemption year
for quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Yeah, I would largely agree you.
Speaker 6 (22:32):
You asked me about the lines for this week, and
the Colts are going to Seattle. Donald should cook against
the against the Colts. But then Donald has the real
game of the season, of the season against the Rams
at home rematch from when he had four picks. I
think this will be like the end of last season
for him. Remember, he has really struggled and everybody sold
their stock. This is his chance. Hey, guys, I'm for real,
(22:55):
I show up.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
I don't know, man.
Speaker 6 (22:57):
Rams defense look pretty feisty yesterday. Do you see them
getting after Jacoby Brissett. I mean they look nasty upfront.
First of all, I embarrassed with the Carolina results. The
two best fifth round picks. Did I that pop into
my head? Pokaakua and George Kittle. Yeah, Pookinakula yesterday. Dude,
it's I watched him in college. He didn't do that
(23:20):
in college.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
No, no, no, I.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Mean I watched them at Washington and BYU sometime, and
I know these NFL gms and all these scouting departments.
I watch him and I'm like, did I miss something?
I remember when he was drafted and you said you
knew Stafford. Well, Stafford was telling everybody in camp, dude,
we have a superstar receiver in camp.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
I'm just curious, can pooka catch JSN for the Offensive
Player of the Year. I know it's like where we
don't want to care because he gets dinged up more
he does. He's a Jonathan Taylor was the leader for
a while. That ship has sailed. It's over now. Taylor
at a rough game against Jacksonville yesterday. But I think
it's gonna come down to a receiver for sure.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
Between Stafford their tight ends now Blake Koram. Have you
noticed Blake hot is now cooking? So they have a
and they're all healthy. The Rams are healthy.
Speaker 6 (24:10):
Are your top three teams? Ramseyahawks? And I think you
got to see the NFL they're all NFC.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Well, no, I think New England's somewhere in that group.
Speaker 3 (24:20):
New England's in that group, dude, I've watched.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
Them go to Buffalo and everybody keeps.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
Starting it one game, what else they got.
Speaker 1 (24:26):
I think they went to Tampa and one I think
they've they've won. They're just winning. The team that I
worry about is Denver now again yesterday. I've never seen
a twenty four to seventeen game that was that big
of a blowout. Denver Raiders cover Denver long time. I mean,
they were really trying to get out of the stadium.
(24:48):
Denver was just like, hand it off, eat the clock,
let's get out of here. Nobody gets hurt. I worry
a little bit about bow knicks in the playoffs. I
worry I don't.
Speaker 6 (24:58):
Always coming out of the ANFC. The AFC is crazy
right now. Like honestly, if you're going, if you're Josh
Allen going up against the top three, you're not scared
of any of those three. So look at the quarterbacks.
Bon Nick's second year, Drake May, second year, Trevor Lawrence.
I like him, but he eh Aaron Rodgers forty seven
years old. Well, I mean, are the Houston Texans? Could
they be in the Super.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
Bowl from the Houston tex d line because the Patriots, Jags, Steelers, Bills.
Chargers do not have great lines. If the Texans ended
up in the AFC Championship against Denver, Denver's got a
great old line. Yeah, but I'm Houston could win. I'm
telling you, when the playoff numbers come out, I'm betting Houston.
Speaker 6 (25:39):
Well, the other team is those in the hunt teams.
I don't even think they're dangerous at this now.
Speaker 1 (25:43):
They're not.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
They're not good.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
Like honestly, Daniel Jones, if you feel terrible for him,
that season's over for the Colt they're not getting I
don't thinky're getting.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
In the playoffs. No Riley Leonard, No, No Riley Leonard also
known as the next Josh Allen, who.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
Is coming out of the AFC. That's a I don't
It could be the Texans, but they have to win
three straight.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
I'm listen that.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Defense travels though.
Speaker 6 (26:03):
Oh but admitted last night with the Chiefs are coming
back in the second half, you're like, oh, I've.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
Seen this movie straight incompletion. They have more good players
when you were. If you turn this sound and just
watch the athleticism, Texans are better.
Speaker 6 (26:19):
We gotta let Stroud cook too many handoffs into the line.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Of scrimmage defensive coach. Yeah, it's the Herd.

Greetings from FS one. I mean what I got to
tell you? What a weekend? Bears Packers, Ohio State, Indiana
Sometimes as a network, I'm really interested to see the
Bears Packers rating.
Speaker 3 (27:26):
Are you off the Buckeyes now because of that.
Speaker 1 (27:27):
Long no God, no, no, no, no. Ohio State's gonna
win the Natty. I think Ohio State, oh the three
best teams I've seen and I think there's a gap,
no particular order, Indiana, Georgia, Ohio State. I'll still take
Ohio State to win the Natty. When Ohio State lost
to Oregon and Michigan last year, I said on me
(27:49):
and that lost to Michigan.
Speaker 6 (27:50):
Think everybody knew that that team was loaded. This team
has a young quarterback. No, no, no, this quarterback's great. Was
Ryan Day coaching to not let him make him? He
didn't throw the ball down the field?
Speaker 1 (28:01):
No no, I didn't want to go fourth and to field
goal attempts. I would have gone for it.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
Jeremiah Smith is one on one like half the game.
How are you not just throwing some jump balls to him? Well,
I did not understand the game plan from Ryan Day.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
Maybe he didn't want to unveil things before.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
So who cares about the champion?
Speaker 1 (28:17):
You care about it? But Jmack with the news.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
This is the herd Line news.
Speaker 6 (28:26):
All right. We need to fulfill our contractual obligation to
talking about Bo Nicks, Collins's favorite quarterback in the AFC. Hey, listen,
ten game win streak for your guy. Look at him
just dropping dimes against it. He was good yesterday. So well,
Raiders play a soft zone defense. I mean, hell, you
could have. You were QB one back in the day,
you could have carved these guys up.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Anyways, bo Nicks moved into.
Speaker 6 (28:46):
A Tywood John Elway for the third longest streak, win
streak and franchise history. Here's bo Nicks, the hero on
the street.
Speaker 8 (28:55):
It's amazing, tends a long streak and you know, we've
won eleven games.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
That's really tough to do at this point in the season.
Speaker 8 (29:05):
And I mean eleven and two is not many things
that you know you want to be negative about because
you want to be appreciative of this opportunity and be
appreciative of the wins no matter how they come.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
He's a good player, and he's a heady guy that
I think Sean Payton admires his toughness, his athletic ability.
He is, like Caleb can be a bit of a
roller coaster. Over the course of three and a half
hours yesterday, it was It's very rare when you watch
a game and you can tell one team knows how
(29:36):
much better they are and they're just doing a Did
you notice Denver run the ball, short throws, keep the
clock running. Denver just wanted to stay healthy and get
out because they know right now the Raiders don't look
well coached. I mean they don't. They're doing nothing well.
But watching this game, it was like, oh, they just
want to get out of the stadium. A lot of
(29:59):
catchuble stuff underneath running the ball. They have a nice
running game yesterday. This was not a twenty four to
seventeen game. If you watched it, it was total domination.
Speaker 6 (30:08):
So sometimes I forget to give props to people who
do what you have to do, right. I mean, they
got to win this game and they won, right. Rams
went to Carolina, they didn't win, you know, they lost
that game. That was a tough one. But Denver just
keeps winning. Colin what matters most here, here's what they
got next.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Green Bay. That's a top three team in the league. Jacksonville.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
That's not gonna be an easy one. I'm sorry, that's
not gonna be easy. At the Chiefs. They're not dead yet,
they might be by that point, and then they close
out with the charge.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
Of three of four high altitude cold weather home Jacksonville
in Denver weather.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Liam Cohen and Trevor Lawrence were built for that.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Denver's gonna Oh, they're gonna roll. Really, I had Jacksonville
jackson winter. Jacksonville's not going to Denver and a snowstorm
and winning.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
It's so it's so cold in Chicago. You may be
here for a few weeks, so you'll be around for
that Jacksonville Denver game. We'll have like a dinner bet
on that. Okay, I'm blindly taking the Jags there unless
trouble Art is all right, Let's move on to the
next one, and that is shiteer Sanders Colin obviously the why.
Speaker 3 (31:10):
Are you laughing? The big news is he's.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
Been named the charter for the rest of the season.
He makes big time throws, no no cap. He was
outstanding against the Titans. He had a great touch pass
to Djoku.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
In the corner of that. I argue he was better
than cam Ward yesterday.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Sure go for it.
Speaker 6 (31:24):
I mean, listen, the Titans defenses is a joke, one
of the worst in the league.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
And Shaudur lit him up as he was supposed to do.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
He throws the balls down the field. Act that was
a great throw.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
He bad interception now here. Let's we gotta be balanced,
fair and balanced.
Speaker 3 (31:36):
What a bad pick twenty three or forty two.
Speaker 6 (31:39):
It's a cut above fifty percent. And there's he had
the second most time to throw of any quarterback this season.
And what the Titans notice is he pats the ball
before he throws. He does he does his tat and
you could adjust as a cornerback and.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
That like led to a lot of breakups.
Speaker 6 (31:53):
Anyways, the big controversy is they score a touchdown, great
drive by Shdoor. They had to go for two to
tiet Now Shador had dropped the fumbled on her two
point ed version earlier.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
They pull him off the field.
Speaker 1 (32:05):
And they go to their wildcat.
Speaker 6 (32:07):
A little trick play. Judkins forgot the play. It was
all excited. Oh it was a disaster. But everybody's coming
after Sefanski like this is the last straw You've.
Speaker 3 (32:15):
Got to fire him. Do we need to take a deep.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
Breath here, Cleveland fans, I mean, do you do you
look at that fan base as reasonable and nuanced Stefanski?
Speaker 6 (32:25):
Listen, there's a media members out there who are trying
to lead this charge.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
We don't need to name names.
Speaker 6 (32:31):
But people are like, what is Stefanski doing?
Speaker 3 (32:33):
He's hurting Shadure.
Speaker 6 (32:35):
There is a weird Schadure cult out there who are like,
I don't want to say, like it's in the political realm,
but they're all in on Shudur no matter what he does, They're.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Gonna just listen. I watched this with Tebow and Shador
can actually play, so I've seen this before. It's called
Tim Tiba and Tibo was winning. Chad's not winning is
a much better. Oh, Tim Tebow thing was insane. I
mean they didn't Saturday Night Live skifs on it. It
was insane. They had a great defense and Matt Prater
(33:05):
was kicking fifty eight yard field goals. Chadur's throwing the
ball down the field. Shadur to me, I said this
when Shador went in the fifth round, I said, in
my career, I've never gone on the air and said
that's a first round quarterback and they dropped to the
fifth Usually I'm pretty close. So he's obviously more of
(33:25):
a franchise quarterback than Dylan Gabriel because I was not
a Gabriel guy.
Speaker 6 (33:30):
Cause isn't like your pregnant kind of you're either a
franchise quarterback or you're not.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
In my take, as he is.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Chaduur.
Speaker 1 (33:36):
Yeah, holy hell.
Speaker 6 (33:37):
So the Browns are probably gonna be drafting top three.
They may get a shot at Mendoza. Oh no, are
you saying you pass on Mendoza for Shador?
Speaker 1 (33:44):
Nobody? Okay, if you can get Mendoza, you get him.
Speaker 6 (33:48):
So that's the question. Brown's fans, a lot of them
like Shadur. They're gonna be ticked if they draft Mendoza.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Oh yeah, really ticked until they go on a four
game winning street.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
So last thing.
Speaker 6 (33:57):
I don't know if you're watching these, but Stefanski looks
exhausted answering Shaduur questions.
Speaker 3 (34:03):
Have you seen these?
Speaker 1 (34:04):
He's like, this is why they didn't want to draft exactly.
And I just wonder.
Speaker 6 (34:09):
I just wonder if Stefanci's almost like, you know what,
I don't want to deal with this garbage for another
year because whoever gets the job, that's there's like a
cult of Schaduur.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
This is a thing.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
It's called t bou Mania. It's I mean, that's why
when Denver moved off Tebow, they went and got Peyton Manning.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Yeah, kind of an upgrade.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
Okay, so you can move off Shador, but you better
not do it with ty Simpson. If you do it
with Dante Moore or Mendoza. Any reasonable person with a
functioning brain would be like, yeah, those are higher end prospects,
but or you know, go go, you know, I.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Just again, Shadur was good. We got to get the man.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Is a franchise quarterback? Is he going to be an
old timer? No? But I think he is a franchise quarterback.
I watched Kenny Pickett play three games as a pro,
and I'm like, yeah, it's not a franchise Pennix.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
Is he a franchise squorder?
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Oh? I thought, we'll see, hadn't played it a lot,
We'll see.
Speaker 5 (35:05):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
That just may warrant fur their discussion.
Speaker 6 (35:07):
All right, let's go to the NBA where Lebron James,
the Goat, the greatest basketball.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
Player ever, had an unbelievable.
Speaker 6 (35:13):
Game last night against the Sixers on the road. Remember
the last time we saw him against Toronto, he didn't
get ten points.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Last night, Oh, he put on a show.
Speaker 6 (35:21):
Collin twenty nine points on twelve of seventeen. He scored
ten straight in the fourth clutch City. Here's Lebron after
the game, the end of a roll trip.
Speaker 9 (35:34):
You know, it can be a lot of tile legs
or whatever the case may be. So I feel great,
but I figured it in a four of that ars.
You know, his legs may have been a little bit tired. Obviously,
we know the cross country that Luca.
Speaker 2 (35:45):
Had to endure.
Speaker 9 (35:46):
So I had an opportunity with some pretty good legs.
My legs felt pretty good to night. To try to
I started myself a little bit offensive.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
With no good win for them. Somebody in the crowd yelled, hey,
you don't have any hair, Lebron and said, yeah, but
I got a lot of something money, Lebron.
Speaker 3 (36:04):
Did that really happen or noh.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Yeah, I clapped back at the crowd, got it, big laugh.
Speaker 3 (36:07):
I did not hear it.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
On the SBA Stars talked to the fans.
Speaker 6 (36:10):
I love it so Luca after his wife gave birth
thirty one, fifteen and eleven, unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (36:16):
Now he was right.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
Reeves has struggled, but Reeves is carrying the team against
Toronto Boston. He's doing everything. Reeves only had eleven last night.
Lakers Spurs Wednesday. Your staff is telling me Wembin Yama
may play. This is the NBA Cup big game. I
know you're gonna angle for some tickets to that one.
We're gonna see you court side with Kim Kardashian or whatever.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
Yeah, no, no, no, Ann would not allow that. Jmack
with the news.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The
Herd Line News. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Herd Weekdays and Noone Easter nin a em Pacific

We've got a huge ce.

It Solf Friday night at eight eastern on Fox.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
I'm just looking at Yeah. People are are are are
mad that Alabama got into the tournament because they haven't
played particularly well. But you know, Alabama did go to
Georgia and beat Georgia, beat Tennessee, beat Missouri, hammered Vanderbilt.
(37:38):
They had more quality wins, the two things that the
committee showed you. And right now for our radio audience,
I'm putting putting up the twelve team playoff. I think
they got it right. I wouldn't include James Madison or
two lane, but I've never been to that hokey small
school thing. I think it's great in March madness when
you have sixty eight teams. It's not good in college
football when you have four or now twelve and eventually fourteen.
(38:01):
Maybe if you get to sixteen, you can have one
of them. But they don't recruit the same type of players,
and even if they did pull off an upset, they
get boat raced in the second game. Football's game of
violence and attrition, and you just need more NFL bodies.
But I think they got it right. I think the
top four seeds are Indiana, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas Tech.
(38:22):
I think they got it right. They got Notre Dame
over Miami. Notre Dame had a marginal quality win at home.
Notre Dame didn't beat A and M or Miami. You
gotta win one, so you know, you can complain about
all you want if you take Tulane and James Madison out.
They mostly got it right. I think there's an argument
where Texas gets in over Alabama because Texas Beato, they
(38:46):
beat Vandy, Texas beat Oklahoma. If Texas, you know they
beat A and M. I think the best argument that
you don't like what happened is Alabama out Texas in
I think that would in my opinion, Texas has more
good quality wins. That's my take. Texas also has a
(39:10):
horrible loss to Florida. Although it's an SEC team, it's
not that horrible. But mostly I think, you know, it
came down to the end and they took Miami over
Notre Dame. And you know Notre Dame. Now, I was
talking to my friend John Middlkoff about this and I said,
this happens all the time. You're seeing it in streaming
(39:30):
and television, you're seeing it at AI that we have
massive change very quickly. What used to be the death
penalty in college football was paying a player. Now you
not only do what you brag about it. College football
is now about thirty five percent pro football. There's free agency,
you pay the players. The coaches make ten million, and
(39:51):
with that, head to head's going to be more important
when you come down to an end of a season.
And the other thing is the pool games are done.
So everybody is banging on Notre Dame getting out of
the bowl games, they will not be the only team
to do it. I think bowl games are the latest
thing everybody's clutching too, that won't go away. Mostly nobody's
going to go to these games. They're not going to
be able to sell tickets. The games are going to
(40:13):
be awful, the ratings are going to be terrible. Nobody's
going to watch these bowl games. So bowl games are
going away sooner the better. And I think conference championships.
This is not an excuse because Indiana was better than
Ohio State, but I don't see the value in conference championships.
You play twelve games and then you have the twelve
(40:33):
team playoffs and now I think bowl games are done,
so Notre Dame. I'm not going to criticize them for saying, yeah,
we could get some practices, but we thought it was
messy at the end. And let's be honest, bowl games
don't matter anymore. The other thing to remember is a
lot of the top players don't want to play in
bowl games, right like they don't like That happened years
(40:55):
ago with Christian McCaffrey Fournett. People freaked out. I mean,
if you've played three or four years in college football
and you go to some second tier Credit Union Bowl game,
what's the point in playing? So you got star players
not playing, they don't matter you know, they don't necessarily
help recruiting. The whole sport now is regular season playoffs,
(41:19):
and so a lot of the change is happening fast.
They blew up the Pac twelve, they're getting rid of
bowl games. It makes people uncomfortable. I totally get it.
I'm not a traditionalist. I'm okay with it. I think
we've never had more fascinating games. But I thought this
weekend with a conference championship, that's on the way out
as well. Urban Meyer around the corner
