Speaker 1 (00:01):
It's the best of two pros and a couple Joe
with LaVar, Rady Quinn and Joe's Knocks on Fox Sports Radio.
We were having a good time here. It is Saint
Patrick's Day. Happy Saint Patty's Day to you and yours.
We've got green pancakes, green eggs and ham. We got
booze and our coffee. Not us, But you know, maybe

(00:24):
there's some people out there doing it as as they embark.
As they embark on what is known to be one
of the great drinking days in all of America and beyond.
So March seventeenth always shines when it comes to getting
after a little bit. If you're into the liver loobe,
this feels like the holiday for you. Yeah. By the way,

(00:46):
somebody did point out that not only we were having
a discussion about open containers in New Orleans. Not only
can you drink on the streets of New Orleans, as
LaVar pointed out, but you can also walk into an
establishment with an open container and a beverage, which is
really something like bring your own booze to a bar

(01:06):
and then order more while you're at the bar. That's something.
And you can take a respite just right on the
street too. Have you seen people do that? Has that happened?
And yeah, now what are the what are the chances
Derek Carr is seen on the street to New Orleans

(01:29):
thrown backs and everybody, they said, the streets, they're gonna
grab him in New Orleans? You think so, I don't
think if Vegas didn't get him, how the hell's new
or he must be the strongest, like the most disciplined
person in the world. If he can go from Vegas
to New Orleans with no slip ups, that's impressive. Man. Yeah,

(01:49):
I don't know. He's he's he's just he just seems
like one of those guys that he's he's he's who
he is. He should that's the best way of putting.
He's he's he's one of those he's who he is.
He's a he's a program director's dream and radio because
he said pissed off at his introductory press conference with

(02:13):
the Saints and then apologize for saying that afterwards. Yeah,
I mean, if you're if you're a program director at
a radio station, that's the employee you want, all right.
You don't want somebody like LaVar Arrington who gets dumped
every other day on here, on this show, because he's
just just letting it fly here. I almost said it's
something to get dumped just now. You know, it is

(02:36):
Saint Patty's Day, so to see what happens, see whether
that Verno's paying attention. All right, So it is two
pros and a cup of joe here. By the way,
I know this is a tradition. Whether it's Saint Patty's
Day or not. Saint Patty's Day. It's also a football Friday.
It's a damn football Friday here, Yeah, day Friday, Football Friday.

(03:07):
You spend your basketball Friday pretty eggs in hand. I
do not want them. I am not saying yeah, Now
are you gonna because obviously we are. Penn State is
on their way to the next round as they take
on Texas coming up tomorrow night in the tournament. Nobody
really gave us a chance to be day and now,
well are you going to? Uh? I mean, so what

(03:28):
is the how do you partake in in a Penn
State basketball running the tourney? Um, that's two hours to
where you could just sit back, throw a few back,
have some wings, belly up to the bar. You could
sit by the fire pit like, what does that look like?
What does the watching and viewing pleasure look like for
a Penn State Hall of Famer watching the basketball team.
How do you take that? Yesterday I just was sitting

(03:49):
in front of fireplace. Yeah, that was pretty pretty lightweight,
because you know, I think I have travel coming up here,
so just gearing up. I might be in state college.
So that's that's kind of cool. Um. But yeah, I
mean listen anytime, and you got to keep in mind,
wrestling is going on right now too, So anytime there's

(04:14):
there's something going on where my alma mater is is
participating and they're having some success, that's just that's super
super exciting. I love my school man, I love Penn State,
and so to see them have the success that they

(04:34):
did yesterday, Like at first, I was like, WHOA, they
didn't look like they were going to be able to
deal with A and M. You know, it just didn't
look look right. But then Picket got going and his
style of play, Um, it just he opens it up.
He opens up the court because you he creates such

(04:55):
a unique matchup in the way that he's able to
play inside and outside. So it I just I become
a fan I become an instant fan. I probably should
be more of a fan in terms of paying attention
to what the teams have going on. I know our
ladies hockey team has done well, um this season, We've

(05:18):
We've had some teams do really really well. Watch everything.
Can't watch everything, and and and everything isn't available. That's
the thing like living in California. Like I was panicking
yesterday because I was going through like the regular channels
and I'm like, WHOA, games are on, but our game
is about to come on. I don't I don't understand.
This game isn't going to get done soon enough. Then

(05:39):
I found that we were on TBS, and then I unpanicked.
But yeah, I mean, you know, it's it's in a
perfect world. In an ideal world, I could have California
in State College. That would be a perfect world. Yeah,
but then but then I would live in State College.
But then if they had the weather, then mother Nature
steps in and says, you can kiss my ass where

(06:02):
you're at. Yeah, you go ahead to sit by the
fire pick because we got snow. People are trying to
shovel out just to get to work in the morning.
I'll say this though, and people think I'm crazy, But
tell me if you fall along the same lines, if
you're if you're in a place, like you might be
in State College for the for the men's basketball team

(06:23):
in round two of the NCAA tournament, and you might
be there to see them potentially clinged to go to
the Sweet sixteen. I would rather be in state college
watching them on TV than be in Iowa City or
Des Moines rather watching them in person, like like some

(06:45):
and people would think fans there than there are at
at the game. Agreed. And I've said this as well too,
like if you go and like, look, tickets to go
to games are expensive as hell. You want to get
into a venue, it's really expensive. But you know what's
not as expensive and maybe even more fun to a
sports one hundred percent in the town where that team
is playing. If you can't get to the game, just

(07:07):
go watch it. Like I had buddies who went to
years ago the Penguins were playing the Predators in Nashville
for the Stanley Cup. Tickets were egregiously expensive. They stood
on the streets and watch one of the games and
at the time of their life in Nashville, watching that
on the big screens outside a lot of those places,

(07:27):
in those towns all across the country. The way they
set it up and the way they put it together
is perfect. Its The lines aren't as long to get
to the bathrooms. You're amongst your peers, everybody's having a
good time. You don't have to wait, it's less expensive,
all that that comes along with it. So I would
say where you could potentially be in state college watching

(07:48):
them play. There's a lot of people around the country
who are going to be doing the same thing who don't.
We can't afford to go to these games, don't want
to fly across country. There's something about watching a game
in that town where the team is playing somewhere else.
It's just a different vibe. It lands differently. I'm gonna
send you a picture of what my homeboy shouts out
to my man, DJ Richter. Um, I'm gonna send you

(08:11):
a picture away sitting yeah right, um, leading up to
the game. You're so stupid. Here's those stupid but but
you gotta check this out. I mean it, um, It's
it's pretty phenomenal, man. It's just our support and our
our student body, our our community is pretty dope community, man,

(08:33):
And I'm using this as an opportunity for PSA. Isn't
that crazy? It's in a bar or stadium. That's a bar.
That's a bar. Good God, that's for the game. They're
there to watch the game. Wow, that yesterday was Thursday. Yes,
that's a Thursday. Imagine Saturday. That is That's fantastic that

(08:58):
right there, exhibit A. Man, there's just something about it.
You can go to a local place watch it. Like
my wife doesn't get it. She doesn't. She doesn't understand, Like,
what's so fun about going to a place, having a
beer and watching the game. And I would rather stay
at home most of the time. But I said, there's
just a time and a place where it's just cool

(09:18):
to sit there in that environment where everybody's going crazy
and you can just watch the game. Who knows. If
you want to live bet a little bit, if you're
a degenerate and you want to get after it, you
can go down that road as well too. You order
some food, you hang out with your buddies. It's just
something that a lot of people find a little bit
odd until you do it, and you go to places

(09:39):
like that in State College and the way they put
it together it's just it's awesome, man. It's a great
time of year. Going to be a great weekend in
the world of sports, for sure. Be sure to catch
live editions of Two Pros and a Cup of Joe
with Brady Quinn, LaVar Errington, and Jonas Knox weekdays at
six am Eastern, three am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio

(09:59):
and The Hard Radio. While there is a there's a
story out from Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. Now.
If it ends up that this story is a load
of crap, blame him, don't blame us, all right, So
don't shoot the messenger. But here is the story out
from Mike Florio. Came out late last night. Per multiple reports,

(10:20):
Dan and Tanya Snyder have cleared out the Washington Commander's
team's facility in advance of the sale of the team, and,
as one source explained it, they left in late December,
and they are also told that within the building, the
word being used regarding a potential sale is imminent. Multiple
sources said that a sale could be approved and announced

(10:43):
as soon as the upcoming league meetings in Arizona. D
and Tanya Snyder obviously announced in November they were considering
selling or they were at least, you know, looking into it.
I think we talked about it at the time and
then he kind of pulled it back and all that
now when reached for comments, and a team spokesman said,
be a text message that the organization is not commenting

(11:04):
on anything related to a potential transaction, but there is
a feeling out there and it's being reported again by
Pro Football Talk that the sale of the Washington Commandos
is imminent, so much so that things have been cleared
out there in DC. Has that LaVar Arrington, Well, a
part that you didn't mention that was pretty significant to

(11:27):
why I think the validity of this is there was
based upon Daniel Snyder's either him or his legal team
basically saying he didn't want to be held accountable for
anything that, you know, any investigations or anything like that.
I want to get out clean. Yeah, he wants to

(11:48):
be clean. And and so that's you know, that's why
I think that it's it's real. Because the whole embezzling,
you know, the whole embezzling investigation that's taking place, I
wonder where does that go, you know, because it sounds
like it could get that could get pretty interesting in

(12:09):
terms of how the owners approached that or how Dan
Snyder is measured in Wade based off of that. Now,
I don't know if that's the only reason why it's
kind of become a foregone conclusion that Dan is going
to sell the team. But you know, I can only

(12:30):
imagine like this, this is one thing that should be stated.
Tanya Snyder is a fine person, like has always been
an upright person, has done countless amazing things for you know,
for breast cancer and women and causes in that regard.

(12:50):
Has been a first class person. Um, her husband so
not so much, and and and so and so. You know,
it's kind of been one of those things where I
think to salvage, you know, kind of I mean, if
you're going to just try to preserve just her reputation

(13:12):
or or you know, her piece, um, it would seem
to make sense to move on with your lives. I mean,
look at it this way. He's he's the sole owner
of the team. You know, he got rid of his
his partners or whatever. He bought his partners out and
was the sole owner of the team because you recalled,

(13:33):
they were trying to remove him as well. So it's
not like he's in a losing situation, right, Like, even
if he has to pay some money's back based upon
you know, sticky fingers on on shared money. I mean,
it's going to be a billion dollars sale. So if

(13:56):
you're walking off into the sunset and you've, as it's
been reported, you've cleared the building, Um, they put their
house on the market. I can only imagine that you could,
you know, kind of cash your chips in. I mean,
who gets to cash their chips in at the end
of playing the game and you get a billion dollars.

(14:18):
Now what he grosses out of that, I don't know,
but I would assume it's it's um, it's probably still
in the billions, I would imagine. Yeah, So so that's
you know, there's that. I know, you lose your team
and you lose the legacy play of being the owner

(14:39):
of a team. And Brady mentions it all the time
like these these franchises don't lose value so much. They
still maintain generating money. It's just you know, I think
that's going to be the biggest thing that haunts him
is how big of a fan he was of the team.

(15:00):
You've mentioned that before, Like he legitimately loves that team. Yeah,
no doubt. I think his dad, which by the way,
my dealings with was I mean he was a fine
man as well, and and and Dan's mother as well.
I mean I got to know their entire family, the

(15:21):
sister or everybody. So anyway, the dad was a big
time Washington you know fan, and and I think he
raised and reared his kids in that manner. And Dan
was like a like a literal big time fanboy of
the team. And I would assume he was hoping that

(15:45):
the team would stay in his family possession, like like
everybody else that takes over a team and a franchise,
that it becomes a family business and it becomes a
generationally passed onto a different family member type of business.
And and now that you know, after twenty four years,
I believe you know, that seemingly not going to take place.

(16:09):
So I mean, I don't know, It's like it's it's
kind of bitter, don't It's kind of bitter sweet a
little bit Jonas, like maybe a tad bit bitter sweet
in terms of all the potential that was there for him,
if he would have just been of just a good dude,

(16:33):
if it had just been if he would have just
took the time to be a good dude. It just
seemed like he had that potential. It was there early on.
It seemed like it could go down the lane of
this this young guy that that wants to see Washington

(16:54):
wins Super Bowls again and restore the glory days if
he had just kept his approach and his intentions and
the way he treated people and in like the right space.
I mean, there's no telling how much success he could
have had and such an amazing market. But when you

(17:16):
think about where things are now and how how bad
things have gone for so long and then it just
went from bad to just horribly worse, that tells you
a lot. That tells you a lot, because when you
think about it, how many franchises are you hearing, you know,
where the ownership is being discussed to this degree, to

(17:41):
this capacity anywhere? Hardly ever hear it in football? Like
do you ever hear it? Not only just in football,
but if you go sports business wise, usually when there's
this much smoke, there's enough fire that somebody steps in
and puts it out right away, and then you just
move on. I mean, look at Richardson with the care
line of Panthers. Yeah, I mean, like that story came

(18:02):
out and it was like in a matter of a
couple of months, he was out gone. And you know,
you don't want to compare wrongdoings with because you know
he obviously his stuff was egregious and so was you
know what, what's reportedly happening with Dan Snyder. But Snyder's
just stayed there through all of it. I mean, I
mean that tells you how much he loves that team.

(18:23):
So he's owned the team for what is it, twenty
six four, but like you know what, we'll call it
around like say twenty five years. Okay, how many of
those years has there been rumblings of problems with how
the organization was run? At least twenty right? Oh three?

(18:43):
Think about it. I mean, if you, if you really,
if you really like, go to the beginning. I mean
his first draft, he got a two and a three.
That was me and Chris Samuels. But people will say,
you know what, like bringing in all of those guys

(19:04):
like you brought in Dion, you brought in Mark Carrier,
you brought in Bruce Smith, you brought like he went,
he went, he went fan mode on on player acquisitions
right out the gate. Now, while one would say that
was aggressively trying to build a winner and build it

(19:27):
quickly like you see in today's nfl um it was
like a bunch of older dudes, you know, And and
it just didn't it didn't pan out. So people could
actually state he started showing that, you know, they weren't
capable of building a proper franchise, a proper roster. And

(19:53):
and honestly, I'm not even gonna say it's the players
that was where he went wrong in terms of the
type of players he brought in. I just think it
was the culture, to be honest, if you really want
to say. And you couldn't tell how toxic his his
way of doing things were that early on, Like I

(20:16):
think maybe some people could have you could have just
thought that he was arrogant, you know, but it was
his toxic, arrogant way of doing things became the way
the people closest to him handle things, like Vinni Serato
turned into the same person Carl Swans and turned into
the same person. Like everybody was just walking around with

(20:39):
this error and arrogance about him, and it was just
kind of like it's you know, it's a pro team.
So for guys like me, I'm just thinking that that
this is just how it is. You know, you don't
know any different, you don't know any better because it's
a ProTeam. But it was just a very very just

(21:01):
so much arrogance and so much like self absorption and
just I don't know, it was just toxic Jonas. It
was toxic bro And you could tell, you could tell
that was that was there, that definitely was present. It
does seem though like and by the way, it goes

(21:22):
to point out in this report from Mike Florio where
he says that obviously you need all the owners to
approve of the sale, or you need twenty four owners,
rather to approve of the sales, you need majority two
thirds majority, and you would the assumption would be, well,
you know, if whoever buys this, you know, passes the
sniff test, then everything should be fine and then you

(21:42):
move on and you get away from it. But the
problem is because he wants to be you know, identified
of all the other stuff going off off the field,
all the other investigations, as you pointed out, you know
Mary Joe White, who's the lawyer who's handling all this stuff,
that there's a thought that if that one of the
sticking points for him, I'll sell the team. I just

(22:03):
want to be cleared of all this other stuff and
I can just move on and everything else goes along
with it. It's believed that other owners would never agree
to such a broad and sweeping legal protection for Dan Snyder.
So as much as this feels like it's at the
goal line and we're ready to punch in and and
Dan Snyder is going to be out, there's still some

(22:23):
sticking points here, And it just goes back to how
I've always felt about this whole thing. I'll believe it
when I see it. With all the other craft that
we've heard and the stuff you've talked about on the
air before, there the fact that he's still here twenty
something years later, I'll just all believe it when I
see it. It's like, what is it? Teflon Don? Is
that what they called the guy back in the day?

(22:44):
I just I don't know. Man's So there's a lot there.
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and

(23:29):
Happy Saint Patty's Day to everybody out there. I hope
it's a safe one. If you are having a little
bit of something in your coffee to get your day started,
recommend an uber enjoy it. Yeah, and uh, you know,
just you know, make sure you're making a wise decisions.
Be as irresponsible as you want to be today. Okay,

(23:49):
that works too, Yeah. Be reckless, yeah, be bold? Yeah
you know yeah that that also seems like it's a
good idea. So I have fun. Happy St. Patty's Day.
And by the way, if you are having a morning
cocktail and you are playing it safe, and if you
want to send in some pictures of the proof to
the show, you can find any of us on Twitter,

(24:10):
just go ahead and send it off. We'll see. We'll
see what everybody's working with this early in the morning.
I know a big thing is green pancakes. That's a
big thing. If you've got a bowl of lucky Charms
in front of you, you know, if that's something you
feel like you're celebrating Saint Patty's day to start off correct,
that's also something you could look at, you know, green
eggs and Ham. You know that was a I do

(24:30):
not like green eggs and Ham. By the way, what
a bad book that was? Geez, easily top five worst
books of all time green eggs in it. But everybody
knows it. I don't know what the SEUs is somewhere
saying I fooled y'all. Yeah, I wrote these horrible books,
these weird ass monsters, and y'all loved it. Yeah. So

(24:53):
he's weird ass puppets all y'all like them. The Dave
Chappel vet where he's like, you gotta count who's a pimp?
One to three smacks? So you got six foot tall
pigeons walking around? Yeah, like an elephant. Who's a junkie?
Come on, bird, I need some smack, mister s he's

(25:19):
not to Oscar the Ground, You're like, why are you
so grouchyn the Cookie Monster he always he always got
need he need the munchie, you know he frat Oh

(25:39):
yeah said, by the way, not a shot in hell.
The Cookie Monster doesn't have diabetes. I refuse to believe
that slob who shoves his mouth full of cookies his
entire existence isn't walking around with diabetes right now, refuse
to believe it. Who's your favorite puppet like muppets, any
of them sets the street? Who your favorite puppet? Probably Oscar?

(26:02):
Probably Oscar the Grouch? He just who's yours? Burto Oscar
the Grouch was just such a miserable. Yeah, he's a dad.
He's definitely a d burno. Who's your favorite? Who's your
favorite bird character? I don't think I really had one.
You didn't have one? Really, I don't really watch a

(26:23):
bunch of sesame street, I mean, any any puppet though
muppet babies, any of them. Anybody jump out to you
Fraggles You didn't watch fraggle Rock? Not really? What about you? Lee?
You got a favorite puppet? I guess animal or I
like mister snuffle Up. I guess the animal is easily
my favorite. That's the one that's all over the place right,

(26:45):
always freaking out. Yeah, animals my favorite. That guy was
a steroid freak of the show. He suld see that. Yeah,
he was on the gas, had to be you gotta
behave like that so that it really used to play
the hell out of him. Drums though his animal is
he like the Laddimer of the of the Muppets. If

(27:08):
we think about it, do you think Animal and Oscar
like slam each other on the shoulder and spit each
other's mouth like Alvin Mack and Latimer completely juiced out
of his mind, and that's why he couldn't control himself
on the show. They're just like animals. Don't be playing around.

(27:29):
He don't get tired. Yea. It might have been something
melt going out there too, Yeah, right about it. Well,
Like Dave Chappelle's point is pretty spot on. Though, you
look back at those characters and you're like, damn, they
really do fit. Yeah they do. Like there's something about Yeah,
they really do their backstories all right, So uh so
we will uh you know, at some point I'm sure

(27:50):
probably get yelled at for some of that commentary, But
can I throw something out at you? Yes, I know
we probably I know we don't have this on the
topic list, but I've just been it's been percolating with me. Man. So,
so the coach just signed your boy Minshew. Yep, they're
not signing him to be a starter. I wouldn't think so.

(28:11):
They don't have a starting quarterback and an endy right,
what are you getting at? I mean, I know we
said that the only team that would make sense at
this point to go after Lamar Jackson with that unexclusive,
non exclusive franchise tag would be Washington. But you think

(28:35):
that there's a possibility that the Colts could go after
Lamar Jackson. That's one of the stories out there that
there's some speculation that maybe the Colts are sniffing around
to see because the culture in a tough spot in
the sense that Caroline has taken a quarterback at one,
Houston's taken a quarterback at two. If the top two

(28:57):
quarterbacks are C. J. Stroud and Bryce Young according to
everybody out there, how much of a gap is there
between those two guys and the next two that would
be presumably Anthony Richardson and will love this because if
and not to mention Arizona sitting at three, who's to
say somebody further back doesn't fall in love with one

(29:18):
of those two quarterbacks and then they jump Indianapolis. So
it's almost like that trade last week where Carolina jumped
to everybody and now has Indianapolis picking third. When you've
got two quarterbacks you know clearly above the rest. It
almost Indianapolis has kind of been a knowing situation because
they're the odd man out. They need a quarterback. So,

(29:42):
I mean, Lamar Jackson might be your best option as
opposed to going and drafting a guy. But if you
can't get one of those top two, why would you
not sniff around and say, hey, this is something we
would consider looking at. I mean, from that standpoint, it doesn't.
It does make Are they do they have the cap
space to do it? Do they have like things and

(30:04):
play where they could do it? See? That's I always
feel like if you don't understand the cap situation and
what people are able to do. I mean, at this point,
I wonder, I wonder what it looks like in terms
of getting a deal done, negotiating a deal. Has has

(30:26):
it been enough time where maybe Lamar Jackson and his
camp maybe rethinking what they're approaching or are they being
stat fast to what it is that they want, Like
how signable is he is? He? Is it still the
same or is it still going to be you know,

(30:48):
he wants the guaranteed money and wants it in the
realm or the ballpark of where Deshaun Watson is, if
that's even even the case. Um, I'm just curious as
to if he's willing to play ball at this point,
because again, the more the more we look at the

(31:08):
way this could play out for him and how they
could turn into singular, singular league deals where they could
possibly ride out this entire year on you know, they
ride out the entire year on the franchise tag and
then possibly franchise tag him again, which I can't see

(31:29):
why Baltimore would franchise tag him again versus just letting
letting him go and letting the situation go. But I
don't I you know, I just wonder where where Lamar
Jackson is now and if he's in that type of
a place where he actually could do be willing to

(31:51):
do a deal. I wonder if the Colts would be
the team that that would do it. I know, I
saw the Commander sign Jacoby Brissette, and and you know,
I continue to think that Washington could be that team
that should do it. But you know, the Colts. The
Colts makes sense as well. So the Colts are further

(32:11):
down this so they're twentieth in the league. They're at
about a little over ten million dollars in salary cap space.
That's the most recent numbers I'm seeing. And the one
that and the Commanders are sitting at just under twenty
million in calf space. It's why the one that people
look at and go, what the f is Atlanta Because
Atlanta's two behind the Bears and they've got forty million

(32:33):
dollars in calf space. That feels like that could be
something that would make a lot of sense. And also
when you consider the fact that Arthur Smith is in
entering year three and he's got two sub five hundred seasons,
you would think that Arthur Smith and people within Atlanta
would go all right, hey, the clock's ticking. It's why

(32:53):
you know Robert sala, I mean, he feels the clock
is ticking because he's got to start winning some games.
And that's why they're going for broke on Aaron Rodger.
It does feel like that, Yeah, Atlanta would make some sense,
Indianapolis would make some sense. But one of those stories
out there, and the feeling from people around the league
is teams don't want to do Baltimore's dirty work to
where teams are negotiating a deal with Lamar Jackson only

(33:17):
to have Baltimore step in and match the offer. And
that's that's what the feeling is that they know Baltimore's
got Lamar Jackson sort of tied up and cornered up
in this whole situation, and they don't want to have
to do all of the negotiating just to set it
up for Baltimore to come in and match the offer
and Lamar Jackson goes back. It's it's really Lamar j.

(33:39):
Jackson really might have played this thing completely wrong. Like
if you just go back and look at it, like
this is where, you know, the whole conversation about having
an agent, you know, maybe there would have been some
some better advice handed out as opposed to whatever Demorris
Smith and the NFLPA provided. Well, you know, again, I've
always said I'm not a big aging guy. You know,

(34:01):
I feel like if you get somebody a lawyer that's
experienced and understands the language and understands how or if
you do use an agent, you know, pay them an
hourly rate. But anyways, that's a whole other conversation. But
I will say this, in these situations, We've seen it

(34:23):
play out over and over again, time and time again.
And these are the types of conversations that have to
be they have to be had, their uncomfortable at times,
based upon you know what, where the wants are, the
needs are, the reality line that exists in these scenarios.

(34:48):
I just don't know that there's a clear line of
reality because it's like where does it exist for Lamar Jackson.
You can be a contrary and because you can say
that Lamar Jackson has you know, dealt with injuries and
and had you know, I guess do I want to

(35:13):
say declined play? I mean people can say it was
declined play, But I mean what has he really had?
You know, what has he really had this this past
season where you could say, I mean he's got a
tight end, you know, I just I don't know that
he's had you know, Bateman hasn't really you know, kind

(35:34):
of emerged to get rid of Hollywood. I just I
just think that if you're saying that he's not worth
the money anymore, I would think that that's that's a
terribly incorrect and inaccurate assertion. I would say, though, that
the injuries are one of concern, like especially for his
style of play. I mean, this is two years in

(35:55):
a row he hasn't finished a season like that's but
what he had finished the season, if he had a
conscious well that's the other part, and that's where things
get a little bit dicey. That's why, Look, we pointed
this out. It does feel like there's bad blood there.
They can say John Harbaugh and Eric Acosta can say
whatever they want, just the way this thing has played out,
the messaging through the media back and forth. You can't

(36:18):
tell me there's not hurt feelings there and not some
sort of issue going on. That's what it feels like
to me just looking on the outside. And I don't
know if and I think you might have brought this
up to where you talked about there's the buffer in
between you and the team. So yeah, so that you
don't have to feel Oh, they said that, because there's
been there's been cases of this happening like Derek Jeter.

(36:41):
Derek Jeter's final deal with the Yankees. Things got really
contentious because he started hearing about what their value on
him was at that late in his career, and he
was offended and he was hurt by it because he said,
hold on a second, what I've done for this organization
and that's what you think I'm worth. I have a
somebody he was a friend of mine who has a
sibling who plays Major League Baseball, World Series Champion, multiple

(37:06):
time All Star, and we're going into arbitration with the
team that they were with, who loved him as a player,
but in arbitration, the team's trying to get the best
deal as opposed to the player. And he thought it
was a good idea to bring his wife with him
to the arbitration meeting and ended up getting talked out
of it by his family and by other people around him, saying,

(37:30):
you don't want her to hear what that team thinks
about you. It's like, this is business. It's completely different
than anything that you think it is going into it.
And as it turns out, they were trying to lowball him,
trying to get a better deal for them and It's like,
maybe if Lamar didn't have that cartilage, as you pointed
out earlier in the week, maybe we're not at this point.

(37:51):
But the fact that he doesn't, he's got to hear
all of the negotiations himself, and it's causing problems. And
that's why, that's why this is so fast to see
how it plays out, because I just gut feeling, like
a gut feeling. I don't see how this gets fixed
and everybody's good to go. We're rolling into next season.

(38:12):
It feels like we're so far down the road that
I wonder if at some point people just start cutting
ties and saying that's it. We did what we could
and it's over with. I just if this is a
product of him not having an agent, I feel really

(38:35):
really horrible for him because but if it's not, then again,
I asked this question the other day, where does the
negotiations for quarterbacks go? I could honestly say, we could
say Joe burrow In and Herbert are the ones that

(38:56):
are going to probably reset the market at some point. Yes,
but neither one of them are league MVPs. They don't
boast a league MVP. They didn't save a coach's job.
I mean maybe they did, but well, Herbert has been
a part of firings. Joe Burrow absolutely saved a coach's job.

(39:17):
Yeah yeah, Joe, I'll give you Joe Burrow. But outside
of those those names, like are we heading towards armageddon?
For how contracts are done for quarterbacks? I mean, you
know what what is Joe Burrow gonna ask for? What
is Jordan Herbert going to ask ask for? You know

(39:40):
what is Trevor Lawrence going to ask for? And Trevor Lawrence,
certainly I wouldn't put him. I mean, are you putting
him in Lamar Jackson's category? No, not yet, absolutely not.
So to know that these these contracts are imminent and
they're looming, what exactly is the standard? You know, we

(40:05):
saw the deal get done with Dak Prescott, We saw
a deal get done with with Kyler Murray. We saw
a deal get done for Patrick Mahomes and and people
said that Patrick Mahomes deal would not be you know,
no one would be able to get close to that.
And then here comes to Shaun Watson. And for whatever

(40:28):
it's worth, I mean, people can blame the Cleveland Browns
and say they did a horrible deal, and this, that
and other, but they did it, and it reset the market,
and and and it established a new a new standard
and a new expectation for a franchise quarterback. So I

(40:49):
would assume agent or not, if you're if you have
a franchise quarterback, which Lamar Jackson is a franchise it's quarterback,
you have to pay somewhere in the market of what
a franchise quarterback will receive. Now, I don't know that
that's obviously it's not going to be more, But I

(41:12):
still think that this is kind of setting a dangerous precedence,
or it's setting a ceiling. I mean, is there a
ceiling to what's going to be paid out? How many
times are the numbers going to continue to go up
before they cap out? That's what it makes me start
to think, especially the fact that no one has jumped

(41:36):
on the situation of having a you know, a franchise
tag guy that's not exclusive. Yeah, it's that's going to
be an interesting one to watch her out the course
of the offseason. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports
