is LeVar Arrington leading off the show. You're wondering how

(01:23):
that energy coming through your speakers. All that feeling, Well,
it's because Jonas is taking the week off. That's right.
He gets to take a break. He's one of the
hardest working dudes in the industry, so he deserves a
little bit of downtime. Enjoy your time, my guy, Brady
will be back soon. That continued theme. Yes, he will

(01:47):
be back. In fact, he's closer to being back soon.
Soon is sooner than later now and so but until then,
for the week, it's going to be me and my
trusted protector. That's right, my man, Jeff Schwartz. We'll be
in the saddle. We'll be taking this wagon through the week.

(02:09):
So what's up, Jeff, How you feeling, man.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I'm glad to be here. I'm glad to know what's
suspended this time? Yeah, I was last time I was
on with multiple suspensions, you know something. You know, It's
just it wasn't great for the for the for the.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
Statement, the image of the station took a hit, you
know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
But I'm here, I'm back, excited to talk with you. You know,
this time of year is always interesting because you know,
there tends to be nothing to talk about, but there's
so much to talk about.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
Like it's it's nice that we have.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Sports and stories and things to do because this is
like list season. But it feels like with the twenty
four to seven nature of sports, there's always something in July,
the kind of peaks of interest.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Sure, man, Sure, and that's interesting, Like, you know, the
whole suspension bit kind of ran. It's it ran its course, Jeff.
You know, after after so long with Q, it was
like kind of like wait, wait, wait, wait, hold on,
is he is he really suspended? Like no, no, it's
a it's a bit, and they'll be back. But but
you're right, there is always so many great things going

(03:11):
on because sports is just a never ending deal. And
interestingly enough, you are part of what I'd like to
kind of touch on in the open new segment the
sixth annual O Lineman Masterminds, the OL Mastermind Summit. Obviously,
some of the greatest you know, minds and players to
ever play the position come together, you guys, congregate and

(03:35):
talk about different things like walk us down the you know,
kind of what's it all about?

Speaker 3 (03:41):
Yeah, so is our sixth year we just finished, you know,
it was like seven years ago. Now NFL Films, does
you know those features on the top hundred players at
the Super Bowl. You know, if you're a player that's
not in the game typically and you're kind of walking
around the radio row, they pull you aside, Hey, can
you come, like help us.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Talk about some of these players.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
And Lane Johnson was one of those guys at the
time who was talking about, you know, defensive lineman. He said,
it'd be great if we got together as an offensive
line and talked about how to how to block these guys.
And that sparked the idea of my buddy Duke Manyweather,
who trains a bunch offens. We's got forty pros right now,
plus all the combine guys he does preparing for the draft,

(04:23):
multiple first round draft picks. Now, I think it's up
near up to eight. I think the last three years
have come through his building in the off season to
work with him, and so we get together and we
talk about offensive line play. But what's interesting, LeVar, is
it started as a pro thing, right Like, we just
had pros and it was just the pro guys, current
pro players talking about ball. So you know, my brother

(04:46):
and Lane we're you know, talking about right tackle play
and Ryan Jensen talking about playing center. Who's the buck center?
And you know we had guards there as well, talking
about guard play. And then you know it's evolved into
almost more of of college players and coaches being there
learning about the game and high school players than pro guys.
It's kind of interesting how it's changed. I think it's
actually changed for the better, because you know, we want

(05:09):
as lineman and every look, everyone, every every older player
wants to be able to help the young guys succeed, right,
And I think there's this narrative at least when I
was playing, I know we played the same time. I
don't know if you're if you felt the same way
you people tell you all the time, watch out for.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Those old guys.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Man, they're gonna get you that they're gonna try to
screw you out of playing time, and they're gonna to
get you off the team. I didn't feel that way
as a player off you did, But you know, we're
just trying to help the young guys succeed in the game,
like we want everyone to play their best. So it's
kind of turned into an opportunity for younger players to
pick the brains of older guys, and we have you know,

(05:45):
we have panels. We talk about the mindset of playing
the game, how to prepare your body for playing at
a mentally prepare to play, how to talk to coaches,
how to play through injuries and deal with that part
of the game. And then we have breakout sessions where
you know, we have the offensive tackle so like Andrew
Whitworth and and Lane Johnson and Toron Armstead are talking
to all these college guys, all these coaches about you know,

(06:05):
technique and different things to look at on a film.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
We have the guards.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Steve Hutchinson, dude, he he loves me. I'm so glad
he's been a part of it the last two the
last year. He's been so helpful. Damian Woody was there
this year for the first time. The centers Robbie Tobeck
was kind of leaning the way there because Jensen wasn't there.
And Create Humphrey is his third year. Man, he's talking
all these these young cats about, you know, how to
succeed early in your career in the NFL. So it's

(06:29):
a fun little week. And then we have some fellowship
at night, which you know, you kind of for a
lot of us that missed the locker room atmosphere. You
get a multiple hours of fellowship at night, which is
which is a lot of fun. And then we had
you know, the best part ever every weekend is the
panel of of the of you know, the Hall of Famers.
So Bruce Matthews was there this year. Will Shields was

(06:52):
there this year. And as I mentioned, Damian Woody was
part of the panel, and so was Robbie Tobeck and
Steve Hutchinson Andrew Whitworth and so oh yeah, big Steve.
He's he's also a little bit of weight, but you know,
when you have he's.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Still big Steve.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
But he's all you gots.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Let me ask you this question, not not not to
change subjects, because it is the same subject. How to
hell dude three hundred and thirty pound, twenty pound, fifty pounds,
sixty pound dudes get to like two twenty five to
thirty and actually look good, like like a different person,

(07:29):
like you guys all do that? As how do y'all
do it? Man? I got me, You're still you're still
you're still big, you're still strong, like you're still lby
here or lineback lineman big Here's why.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
So I was this size in high school, I was
I was two. I was a three fifty five as
a freshman in high school without looking any weights like that.
Just and again, I played three sports in high school.
I was like I was fat.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
I just I just was was big. I'm just a big, big,
big kid.

Speaker 3 (07:59):
And most guys are not naturally three hundred pounds, so
they have to put on a lot of weight to
play offensive line. And so when they retire, they just
go back to their what their normal weight should be.
And so that that's why you know guys do that.
But also you know, you know, talking to some of
the players, you know about injuries and things like that,

(08:21):
you know that's losing weight helps you feel better. You
know a lot of guys with with ankle injuries and
knee injuries and hip you know your back doesn't feel good.

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Losing weight is a good way to get there. It's
hard at first. You know this.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
When you're done, like you have to figure out your
path into Are you still gonna lift a little bit?

Speaker 4 (08:40):
Are you a cardio guy?

Speaker 3 (08:42):
How do you motivate yourself to be in the gym
every day when you've done it for so many years.
It's basically your job, and so guys go and we
talk about that. It's the things we talk about to
some you know, some players at the at the event
or older vets that are going to retire soon, so
you know, talking about you know, being able to try
and make that transition to life after football. It's hard

(09:02):
for a lot of guys to figure out that path.
And part of that is health and wellness, right, It's
it's figuring out how how to use my body, how
to now you know, you're doing your rehab stuff on
your own now, like figuring out your best your best
way to stay healthy and then you know, try to
find another passion or two. So we talk about all that.
It's a ton of fun. Man Like again, it's changed.

(09:24):
We used to sit there and watch a ton of
film on guys and like and just like and now
it's about mindset. We talk a lot about how to prepare,
how to you know, how to deal with confoot in
the locker room, how to deal with your coaches, because look,
there's there's different ways to to get the thing done right.
There's different techniques that work for different guys. And sometimes coaches,
you know, have my way or the highway, and it's like, well,

(09:46):
but coach, I this is really works for me. And
how do we how you talk to your coach about
things like that? So it was a fun conversation, a
fun weekend.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
The fellowship.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
You know, this is the best part when you see
your friends used to play, like with a dinner three
nights in a row. That's always the most fun to
share stories. That's some funny ones.

Speaker 5 (10:05):
Man.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Oh well, I've been around a few of those names
that you put out there. They certainly are some personalities.
Let me has preparation and and things that you you
kind of focus in on as an offensive lineman. Has
that changed?

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (10:21):
Yeah, it has because you have less practice time now, right,
So you know, we used to have double days. I
hate saying I don't feel that old, but like we
used to have two practices a day, and you have
the opportunity to really work on things, right, like take
your okay, coach, I'm gonna work on this one thing today,
right this, I'm gonna work on my outside hands strike.
And you have two practices to do that, and the

(10:42):
next day you can be hey, coach, I'm gonna work
on this technique on.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
A douce block.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
I'm gonna work on You had a lot of time
to do that at practice, okay, and now you don't.
So you have to find different ways, whether that is
you know personally, like in outside of the building to
prepare for the season. You know, you just go before practice,
after practice. You have to do these things on your own, right.

(11:09):
And one thing that I that I talk about every
single year I get one opportunity to talk. It's always
funny because my buddy dude always has me talk, like
after the Hall of Fame where he's like, hey, Schwartz,
this guy, you know, Jeff Schwartzy Area was injured his
whole career and how they come talk about how you
play through all your injuries. It's like after like Will
Shield's talks, right, and Steve was the funniest thing you know,

(11:29):
is is because of the iPads. So with those who
don't know, players now have iPads with their with their
playbooks and their film on it. And I got that
the very end of my career. So the early part
of the first five years of my career, we had
to watch film as an offensive line together in the
offensive line room. If we wanted to watch film. No
one was going home and watching those DVDs they gave.

(11:51):
Let's come on, you watch film in the facility, so
you get there in the morning. We would eat breakfast
together in the offensive line room, watch film, and then
after practice we'd stay, you know, a couple of minutes
after film was over, and we watched film together. Because
that's how it's only chance you had to watch film,
and so you would. You would hang out with your
with your offensivelignment, the guy you play next to, you'd

(12:12):
sit there together next to him in the film room
and you watch film. You talk about things together as
a group. And now with the iPads, guys just go
home and watch film. And that's not when I watch
offensive line play. Now the communication is worse. Like they
they're they're not seeing the same thing together because they're
not watching it together.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
And so I think it's.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
Important for guys to learn that part of the game
as well, that you know, there's you have to do
it together, which is much different than it used to be.
And lastly, look you when the officers and program started
in early March, which it used to start in March,
you didn't have to show up in shape, right, you
just kind of like showed up. Now now you better
show up and shape to everything. You've got to show

(12:54):
up in the shape to office program to training camp.
So how do you prepare in those months? You have
so many more months kind of free time now, right
to make sure that you you yourself get ready outside
of the building.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
So things. That's how it's a lot different than it
used to be.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
That's Jeff Schwartz right there, people, and he's giving you
some knowledge as an offensive lineman. I appreciate that. I'm
sure everybody out there did as well. All Right, Happy
Monday to everybody. Coming up next on Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe Live from the Tyraq dot Com studios,
we'll talk about how important is it to the NBA
for Victor wimbin Yama to become that megastar. Oooh juicy topic.

(13:35):
All Right, we'll take a quick break. We'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of Two Pros and
a Cup of Joe with Brady Quinn, LeVar Errington, and
Jonas Knox weekdays at six am Eastern three am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio AIP.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
All right, welcome back in It's Two Pros and a
Cup of Joe. H it's a Monday, July ten. Shots
out to my man Ricardo Dickerson and my brother Mike Arrington.
It's their birthdays today. Happy birthday to those guys. We
got a lot to get to, but right now, yeah,
you know, we want to jump into this next segment, Jeff,

(14:16):
and we want to jump into it pretty fresh and
pretty clean. And the way you do that, well, if
you want to get that fresh scent, you want to
use some Irish springs, those sensational Irish Springs SuDS. Did
you feel them? Did you? Did you? Did you feel
those SuDS all on you? Oh man, it's just the
reset you need to own the day Irish Springs. When

(14:38):
the spring hits, you are ready pick up Irish Springs
at your local retailer today. All right, Jeff Victor wimbin Yama.
He had a better game, felt pretty good, put up,
put up over twenty points, had some rebounds, was ding
up and you know what. This is what he had

(14:59):
to say after the game.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
First of all, the court is more open.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
It's going fast, but it's it's less physical.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
And uh, I get followed lot, but not as much.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
Nothing to compare. And people here, people players are just
flying you know out there, it's more underground, pushing under
ground big Bucks house. Here, it's great athletes, the best
in the world, more way, more talent. But I like
this better though.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
Very interesting, very interesting. Indeed, Jeffy just called us soft.
Basically American NBA basketball players they don't have, they don't foul.
But what was your takeaway from it? Obviously the topic
set is does the NBA need Victor winbin Yama to
be a megastar? And I'll just start off by saying, yeah,

(15:49):
they do, But but what's your take on it?

Speaker 3 (15:52):
Yes, they do. It'd be great if you was right,
because of his talent. You obviously want the most talented
player to have the great careers because that's obviously what
kind of sort of carries your league. Look, look what's
happening with Lebron for so many years, right, and Jordan
before that, Patrick Mahomes the NFL, Tom Brady before that.
You want the best players, the most talented players to

(16:14):
be to be the best, and after Lebron les, they
don't need someone else. They'll need someone else to.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Be that guy.

Speaker 3 (16:21):
I've thought about this, LeVar, who is it if Lebron
were to retire tomorrow? Who is the guy in the
NBA right now who you would say is the who
carries the league at It's Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, right,
I think, right.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
You know what's crazy, Jeff I, I in my mind
felt like John Morant was on the trajectory was to
be the megastar in the face of this league, even
with those names you just named.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
He was if his team set aside the personal issues.
But your team has to win championships for that to
happen as well. So I don't know if his team
was was quite ready for that yet there were I
think they were closer people thought obviously with the injuries
they were injured basically two years they row in the playoffs,
right if they had the success on the court, certainly,

(17:12):
I think most agree that was sort of the path.
But obviously now we'll find out how he is after
a suspension. He was on that path. So there really
is not another young guy, right who You're like, yeah,
that that guy was supposed.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
To be Zion, Yeah, it's.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Not him yet.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Could he could have been Tatum and we could say Janis,
We could say Jis into the compo, you know, because yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
But you know, part of it is that the person
and the honest personality I think was really good. He
doesn't share it very often. I don't enough to like,
you know, Lebron obviously all everything he was able to
do as a young player, but also sort of have
that personality to embrace that it needs to be Victor now,
is it gonna be? He seems very mature, He's played

(17:56):
a lot of basketball, and he's gonna be really good.
You saw the improvement from Game one. He's like, I
don't know, I don't didn't feel like I've ever played
basketball before.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
It's a game too.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
But I think the NBA needs is gonna need that
from him because they're gonna need someone after Lebron is
done to be that guy, and right now, I don't
think it's anyone young. I mean, obviously Curry and KD
can be those guys for a little bit, but they're
gonna need someone else, and I think they hope it's Victor.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Yeah. I mean, just looking at the way they brought
him in right the build up to the draft, the
way he was drafted, the way the pundits and the
experts spoke about wm bin Yama, I feel as though
it one hundred percent is in their plans and it's
in their best interest for Victor to be that mega

(18:48):
to develop into that megastar. Look, Jordan didn't get championships
very quickly early on in his career either. Lebron didn't
get them very quickly early on in his career either.
But if you get that build up, if you get
that build up for what he can be and what
he can represent to your league, I just wonder he

(19:08):
kind of gives me. He kind of gives me Tim
And it's weird that he plays for the Spurs, but
he kind of gives me Tim Duncan vibes like kind
of laid back, you know, his style of play. Almost
in a lot of ways, he almost looks like a
taller version of Tim Duncan out there, which that's crazy
to say, but it's almost like you're looking at Tim

(19:29):
Duncan reincarnated. And I don't know if that's enough as
a megastar, but I'm thinking that they're hoping and praying
that it is.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
I mean, did you see the picture that was posted
shortly after he goes drafted. He was with Tim Duncan
and David Robinson, and he made both those guys look small.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
That's crazy, Like he's still a large human.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
And look, he's playing obviously with a coach who's developed
many superstars over the years, who's developed many superstars that
are non American either, right, which is you know, I
don't know that really matters too much here, but there's
a track record that from developing foreign players. So and
so I think that Parkers, I think that's it's he's
a good place to to be. They've won a lot,

(20:11):
They've won a lot there and obviously not with this team,
but the staff has won a lot, and so it's
a good place for him to for him to develop.
And and this year, I don't think the Spurs will
ask a ton of them. And so year one, I
think you're gonna look at a team that might not
try to win very much again to get more players
around Victor, cause San Antonio is not a free agent spot.
You got to have to draft your players. And there's

(20:33):
a chance that he becomes, you know, the superstar of
the NBA. I mean, look, when you watch a guy
who can shoot a three and follow that up by
dunking his put back or like you know what I mean,
Like there's there's a capability to be that player in
the NBA. And and I think I think also what
makes it unique is that Lebron, I think, at a

(20:55):
young age understood that. And obviously the height for Lebron
started in high school. Who's always been in the spotlight.
But I think Victor understands that at least when you
hear him talk and how mature he is and how
ready he seems for this moment. So it's good I
think LeVar that he sort of understands that as well.
Then I have this I'm the next guy up, and
I need to be ready when it's my time.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
Yeah, I totally agree with that, and I'm very interested
to see how how it all unfolds for Victor and
even for the Spurs, and just how he will integrate
because we all know this is summer league, So whether
he has an impressive summer league or it's underwhelming, it

(21:36):
really doesn't matter. It's summer league. These are all guys
that are new to the league. They're in the in
the game and trying to make their way. You'll find
out what he's really made of when it gets the
regular season. So to talk about, well, they don't foul
as much in the court is wide open.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
Okay, well in a regular season before we get so
we want to be honest, LeVar like, ask about athletes, right, like, hey, man,
just tell us how you feel. And so he's saying
he's talking about playing now and I'm sure it's first
NBA game when he plays, even know the schedule. When
he plays someone who is just gonna push him in
the back, he's gonna fall over, like he'll get used

(22:15):
to it. But right as we ask these athletes say, hey,
be honest, man, tell us how you feel. And when
he and when when they do, we walk them forward.
So it's just the way it works.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Well, I appreciate you, Jeff, for sitting in here with
me and us doing what we're doing. And then you know,
making this thing work. And speaking of making it work, well,
Damian Lillard, he tried to make it work in Portland
and it just didn't seem to pan out the way
that young Dame may have wanted it to. His loyalties

(22:45):
have run out, time has run out, and now we
are on the Dame Lillard watch. Problem is we're watching
to see if he can make it to one team.
I know you've been paying attention to this, This has
to be a creative approach in order for Dame Lillard

(23:06):
to end up in Miami, because quite frankly, what you
want you want, hero, who do you want from Miami
in exchange? Jimmy Butler? Might work? But why would you
do that? What happens? What needs to happen for Damian
Lillard to end up being in Miami? And if he

(23:27):
doesn't end up in Miami, Jeff, what does this mean
for Damian Lillard? What does this mean for the Portland Trailblazers.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
What do you NBA players sit out when they're not traded.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
I mean he's saying he's going to sit out if
he or don't let me say he's saying that. I
believe I've read that somewhere that it was reported or
stated that there's two things. One, if he's traded for
for the wrong team that he doesn't want to go to,
you will have a very very very happy Damian lill right.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Very very oh very very unhappy.

Speaker 1 (24:05):
And if but if a trade doesn't take place, he's
willing to sit out until Portland shows that they're going
in the right direction to win a championship.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
This feels very NFL ish right, like, players standoff and
Portland's like, yeah, I don't know, we want a lot
for you, and if we don't get it, we're not
going to trade you. And when you have a situation
where publicly everyone knows it's just one team. He just
wants to play for the Heat, then you know, then
the stresses on the Heat to make this happen. And

(24:34):
Portland what they want? Four first round picks and two
quality players for Lillard. I mean that's quite a haul
to give anybody for any player. And you have to think,
if you're Miami, is Lillard enough to win to win
a championship?

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Right?

Speaker 5 (24:49):
Like?

Speaker 3 (24:49):
That's the question if you're trading. Let's say you give
them what they want, the four first round picks and
and the two quality players. Is Lillard and Butler and
ever left over? I assume BAM's not going anywhere, but
maybe he's is part of the trade. But let's say
that's those three guys, right, Bam, Jimmy and Dame. Is
that enough to win a championship? If you think it is,

(25:12):
I probably make the trade. Right the goals to win championships.
If you don't, If you're not doing that, then you
know the Heat are aren't accomplishing what they're setting out
to do each year. If you don't think that, then
just lavarn you don't make the trade. Right Like, if
you think, okay, we lose the two quality players and
our draft picks and we cannot put enough around the
two core guys to win a championship, then if you're

(25:33):
if you're the Heat, I don't. I don't know how
you can do that at that at that price that
Portland wants. So the standoff is gonna happen for a while,
I think until either one budget or if Portland decides, hey,
we're trading somewhere else.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
What recourse does?

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Does does Damien have if he gets traded somewhere he
doesn't want to go? Okay, well sorry, one player in
the NBA's not happy. It's never been done before. No,
I know, pro athletes have to go play for a
team that they didn't really want to play for and
do their job for an organization they didn't feel it
was loyal to them, or or they didn't like. He'd

(26:05):
be the first person in all sports to ever do that.
He's end up in Miami. We don't know this.

Speaker 1 (26:10):
I mean, it's what happens in the NBA, right, I mean,
when when the lines are drawn and these things take place,
it seems as though that's what happens, is that the
player ends up in the place where they wanted to go.
I mean, we've seen it happen with Anthony Davis. We've
seen it happen with guys like Carmelo Anthony. We've seen
it happen. But what I'm very curious about here is, again,

(26:36):
there's gonna have to be some creativity in how he
ends up in Miami. There's gonna have to be another
team involved, or another two teams involved, in order for
this to take place, because quite frankly, there just isn't enough.
To me and my assessment of it, there's not enough.
There's not enough assets that that Portland would want from

(26:57):
from Miami to make this happen.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
Well, I think it depends also on what the goal
of Portland in the trade is, right, because if the
goal of Portland is Okay, we're gonna get players to
sort of rebuild the retool around and help those draft
picks we get can get us in a better position
next year. Yeah, but you need more than skewed obviously,

(27:23):
and he's you know most again the NBA, there's sort
of a pattern, right, like you need to have your
superstar twenty seven to twenty eight years.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
Old before they win, right.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
A lot of guys aren't winning at that at that
younger age, and it takes some time to learn how
to play playoff basketball and get your team together and
get mental and physically tougher and mentally tougher to win
those championships. So it's about if it is Portland going
to go for it soon or they want to use
the players they've acquired to help scoot you know, mature
and then also the draft picks, use those guys to

(27:55):
trade up and get you know, because my Memmi's draft
picks aren't gonna be great. You're not gonna be the
top of the draft. So are you using them the
package to get up and get better players and kind
of in three or four years get going, or is
you should have win now. If you should have win now,
you know you might need a third team in this
right to get some better.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
If they were trying to win right now, then Dame
Lillard wouldn't be trying to get the hell up out
of there, right, I mean, he's been loyal to the team.
He shunned other trade offers or opportunities that could have
possibly presented himself for him to get out of there.
He said, he stayed loyal to the soil and it
hasn't worked out that way. And it doesn't look as
though Portland has made real moves. I mean, it's a

(28:33):
great draft pick, but they haven't made real real moves. Yeah,
that would lead you to believe that they're going to
be a team that is, you know, competitive to make
it to this to the finals.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
The most difficult part for a lot of NBA teams
is that you're not going to get the free agents
that win your championships come into your town. Right Like,
Portland is not going to be a destination for a
lot of player and so they have guy to hit
home runs on draft picks.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
They have to do that.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Now you can add you know, veterans and mid level
players that they want to chase championships to your team.
But you're never going to get that pairing with Lillard
that he thought he was going to get unless you
hit on your draft picks. That's the only way that
happens to Portland. And that didn't happen, and that's why
he wants out right. It's like, it's not that they
don't want to win, it's that you have to win

(29:24):
sort of one way.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Miami. You don't have to do that.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
You get free agents, you have the ability to attract
high profile talent to Miami. You can't do that in.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
Portland, right, Yeah, I mean that makes a lot of sense,
It really does. And you know, I think this is
an interesting one because I don't believe they become the
favorite to win it in the East if he were
to go to Miami. However, I will say this, they

(29:56):
were very competitive Miami was in that championship Brown And
then the question I asked myself, if they have a
Dame Damian Lillard that's playing on that team, is that
enough for them to to get into that and win
that series?

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Probably not against the Nuggets. But again, if you're playing
the Bucks, right, let's say the Bucks returned to.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
Wasn't injury.

Speaker 4 (30:25):
Is that enough?

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Because Miami at times Butler was a little injured in
that in that championship series.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
I don't agree on that, rightes, His.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
Ankles beat up, so they didn't really have that that
in that series. That closer type guy, which is what
Lillard would be for them, right, And so you add
those points in there, and in terms of a different team,
I think Denver was so good this year.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
You just you weren't beating them.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Right, right, even look stole game or something.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
It might have been a seven game series, but you
weren't winning that series. But then if you look at
the East moving forward, what's Boston going to look like
come trade deadline or not come trading line, but come
kind of free agency in trading and whatnot and figuring
out their roster. Obviously, the Bucks I think with Gianni's
being healthy, they're much different team obviously. And then the
six Ers, I know one really everybody's the six Ers

(31:15):
a team like you're up at the top of the
East at least right with lower there, I think people
would wager on you to win the East with lower there.
But to the point we've been making, is that enough
to win a championship?

Speaker 4 (31:29):
Right? Enough to win a championship?

Speaker 1 (31:30):
I just know, I trust, I believe in pat Rally.
I'm a pat Rally fan, and I don't know, I
just feel like he's figured it out with what they have.
If you have a Dame Lillard. I'm not counting them out.
That's that's what I would say. But you know that's
just one man's over.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Pat Rally has been in like twenty five percent of
NBA finals as a player, a coach, player, coach, an executive.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Crazy, right, it is insane, And you know what else
is insane this show with my man Jeff Schwartz. We're

Speaker 7 (34:06):
Good morning everybody, Good morning Lavargin, Morning Jeff. And case
you missed it, we've talked a lot about Victor webin
Yama's debut, guys. In case you missed it, Las Vegas
police announced no charges will be filed. No, and that
brief after a brief investigation to do that altercation between
Britney Spears and Victor's security.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
The world is a vampire man, That's all I'm gonna say.
The world. The song was correct, Free Britney.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
Since we last talked about this last week, the video has.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Come out, and uh, it's incredible.

Speaker 7 (34:41):
It's yeah, it's pretty like you said, it's very incredible.
The best I can describe it as the security guard
swatted her hand, which then swatted her own glasses off
of her.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Okay, so do we do we know if Britney knew
who that was or thought like who you wanted to
talk and learn who this person was.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
I think somebody told her who he was because of
how tall he was. Like it's the NBA Summer League
going on there, so you probably.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
See before during it's a it's a big show everyone.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
Yeah, exactly. You see avatars walking around everywhere. But he
was like the avatar of avatars, like he seems to
be taller than everybody else.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
But you think she was like, oh my god, that's
Victor woman, y'all know.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Hell now, somebody told her though, like that's the number
one draft pick, that's Victor. That's him right there, and
she wanted to go say hello because they said they
said she ran up on him with like a British
accent even though he's from France.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
She thought he was British.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
I think she was trying to speak to him in
the French accent but didn't realize that French is like
a real like that's a language, Like you can't.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Do that accent for it.

Speaker 1 (35:49):
But anyway, I think, you know, if I'm security and
I hear somebody coming up, hey, cherryer victorire like you know,
top of the morning to you, I might say too,
you know, I might swap swipe too, like this lady's
like this this person is crazy, you know.

Speaker 4 (36:04):
I mean but.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
Anyways, you know, I just feel like the world is
is just I don't know. You gotta protect Britney, man.
I'm a little disappointed that there wasn't more of an
investigation of sorts. You know, you know, you got to
protect the Britney spears is out here man. That's all
I'll say. No, I didn't mean that, Jeff. That was

(36:26):
total sarcasm.

Speaker 4 (36:27):
I was curious about where you're going. Yeah, the take
was a little surprising.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Yeah, it was being a little sarcastic there, all right, Lee,
whoa what else you got?

Speaker 7 (36:35):
Well, keeping in the same realm in a different couple
different ways. In case you missed this, Dennis Rodman has
gotten a new face tattoo. Keeping with themes last week,
I think we talked about Mariah Mills Gatzion Williamson's name.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Tatted on her Facebook.

Speaker 7 (36:47):
Well, now Dennis Rodman has gotten uh a top portrait
of his girlfriend yellow yellow tatted on his cheek.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Yeah, the whole face.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
Did you ever think the words Mora Mills and Dennis
Robbin will be using stentis your lifetime?

Speaker 1 (37:00):
I mean, why not? They're getting closer and closer together
I mean, why not. I almost feel like Mariah and
Rodman should end up together. How about that yellow yellow
Lee's eye on alone. You get a basketball player, you
get a adult performer performer. I mean, listen, I don't
know what yellow yellow is. Maybe she's a DJ, I

(37:22):
don't I'm not exactly sure, but I think she entertains
adults with with music or whatever it may be. I
don't know, but I think they both get what they
want out of the situation. Jeff, That's all I'm gonna say.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
I think they should go the more Mills tattoos. Is
it real?

Speaker 1 (37:37):
I don't know. I think that's the big question here.
I don't think so. There's no way, right, I don't
know that it's no way. I mean, as much.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Your tweets were, it was irritating. You had to like
really work to follow her tweets like it was a
lot of tweeting.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
Yes, I just I just know this. It shouts out
to jonas, Uh, she got it up and she got
it down. And if you get it up, that's enough.
If you get it up and you get it down,
you might get a.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Face tat tattoo. The Robin face tattoo is like.

Speaker 7 (38:13):
Is marsh it's her.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
It's her face, like I get it in detail is
and what it is in detail.

Speaker 4 (38:24):
Is like it is consuming of the face.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Yes, it's a portrait, like get it on again, Get
that bad boy on like a canvas like normal people.
Do you like her that much? Get a nice canvas
of it. You know you can put that in storage,
all that stuff. Man, you gotta be kidding me. Man,
I know we'd never ran out of time. Hour two
is coming at you next. Thanks Lee, appreciate you. Fox
