LaVar Carington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox with you here on
a Wednesday morning, having some fun all the way up
(01:05):
until nine am Eastern time, six o'clock Pacific. Now it
is training camp week where you've got players reporting the camp. Yeah,
and you guys have said that it is not like
how it used to be. No, So the big question
is how did.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
It used to be?
Speaker 4 (01:25):
I mean, LaVar told you yesterday some of his stories
of hazing and whatnot that that really doesn't even go
on anymore, does it.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
I have no idea how training camps go anymore. I'm
so far removed from you know, I might go see
the Raiders this year because I think they're pretty close by.
Aren't they doing? Aren't they doing training camp here? Orange County?
(01:52):
I might go see the Chargers because Navarro is coaching
the linebackers, and.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
The Cowboys do training camp. That's close.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Knock snort. I might go see that too, he said, yeah,
knock snort.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
I think it's called ox.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Snart tropped my name out there. See the responsor get yeah,
probably gonna say nothing, dang whatever. But I don't know.
Jones is pretty big around these parts, right, Damn? What
do you mean? You were on the call the other day.
I was, Oh gosh, I told my mom and my
(02:29):
dad about you two. They're so excited. Oh god, amazing,
this amazing. I was all right, one three? So when
did the change happen? Is this all CBA driven?
Speaker 5 (02:50):
Like?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Is did this which negotiation was this twenty eleven.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
Or I think it's like twofold.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
It's it's CBA driven, but it's also like they hazing
and different things too, where it's just not as accepted
as it used to be, right like the head shaving.
Or I remember one of the nights and we'd be
up in a hotel there in Bryo, Ohio, and there
is I'm not going to say who the players were,
but there's some older veteran players were like when they
(03:17):
knocked on your door, it didn't matter if you were
it was past curfew.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
Whatever, like you were you were listening.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
And so they had this one room set up and
they had a bunch of beer, like cases of beer
stacked in there, and they made us go into this room.
They're like, all right, you know, here's the deal. You
guys need to go. Here's three hundred bucks. Go get taco.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
Bell and bring it back.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Like what and by the way, three hundred dollars Like
that's the stensh from the Taco bell being in that
car like never left or at least not for like
six months. It was so hard to get. I mean,
that's it's so much food. You have no idea how
much three hundred dollars can buy a taco bell When
people say it can yeah, this.
Speaker 6 (04:04):
Is back in two thousand and sid when people say
it could feed an army, It literally could feed an army,
Like it was that much food. So we've got to
go sneak out from the hotel and go buy three
hundred dollars worth of taco bell, and which we were
able to kind of do so somewhat successfully. I don't
(04:25):
think I don't think anyone of the hotel saw us.
But we also had security too, and they didn't catch us.
We knew like what door to go out from, so
we go get this done. We come back in and
they start making us.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
Like eat all this crap, I.
Speaker 4 (04:38):
Mean, just bad, bad taco bell drink. And then there's
some other extracurriculars too. But it was the next morning,
every single rookie was dragging ass, and I remember, like
the coaches at one point, we're kind of let in
on it, so they were a little extra hard on
everyone too.
Speaker 5 (04:56):
I think we were like even made a cold condition
after at practice.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
But it was just kind of one of those moments
where like all right, like you want to, you know,
work hard play hard type thing, like you're gonna have
to like fight through some of this.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
It was it was almost like a rite of passage.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
Who are there testing to see how guys would responding,
how guys would go through it. I mean it was fun,
but at the same time, it was as a rookie,
You're like, all right, I'm gonna get fined for this.
I'm gonna get in trouble for this. I have no idea,
no idea how this is gonna go. I don't think
any of that stuff goes.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
On into it.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
How long between the taco bell and the first workout
or conditioning you had to do the next day?
Speaker 4 (05:28):
I was like in the morning, I think we had
like an eight o'clock practice or nine o'clock practicing like that.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
God, we did some horrible things. I've did. I've done
some horrible things.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
The icy hot thing you said, that's we had guys
who you know got that I had that stuff done.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
We've done some horrible things. Man. I remember, I'll leave
this person's name nameless. But what's his Twitter account? I
don't know. He probably doesn't have Twitter, he's probably too old.
But he recycled some some dog stuff and put it
(06:05):
on a paper towel and put it under one of
the rookies pillows in their dorm. Yeah. I mean there's
been some pretty crazy stuff.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
The old pillowcase, dog crap, move uh own nests, Like
what what is that smell?
Speaker 1 (06:32):
Imagine turning the pillow over because it's hot there. I
don't know how he how he did it, or how
he put it in there or whatever what he did,
but it was under his pillow. That's all I knew.
So gross, man, it's pretty gross. But but but training camp,
you know, training camp is interesting because you're there with
(06:55):
people that aren't going to be there with you, and
that's not that's like that's the only time, you know,
once you go pro, it's the only time where it's
something like that. Like training camp and college and in
high school was for you to build relationships. You know,
by the time I got to my my second third
year in the league, I stopped relationship building. I was
(07:19):
just there. If you knew me and I knew you,
we were good. If I didn't know you, i'd speak
to you. But I didn't want to get to know
anybody because you start to realize that that in training
camp you're you're really there's one thing to be fighting
for your your your your position on on the field,
(07:44):
Like am I a starter? Am I second string? You
know what? Am I? It's another thing when you're fighting
to be on the roster, to be on this team,
and you start to see people you know that you've
you've formed relatelationships with and you've bonded because you're doing
you know, conditioning together, You're going through drills together, You're
(08:07):
you're going to the dining hall together, You're going to
get taco bell, You're doing all of these things. And
then the next thing you know, you're close with this guy.
And then the next thing, you know, here comes an
intern or here comes you know, the certain guy, and
you know he's escorting you out. And I didn't even
understand what that represented my rookie year. I didn't even
(08:29):
get it. Then as I start to understand it, you
start to look at the looking these guys's eyes when
they're walking them out of the locker room and stuff
like that. Or you know, it's just you learn a
lot in training camp, man. And it's interesting because I
don't know how they do it now, but you're always
(08:52):
doing something. It's meetings, get a little bit of sleep,
back to meetings on the practice field, get a little food.
It's meetings, back on the practice field. It's meetings. Get
some food, get a snack, go to sleep, wake up,
do it again. It's it's like such a grind to
(09:14):
be in training camp. Man, you being it'd be like,
what what time we get out of out of out
of me is like nine o'clock, nine thirty. It'd be
late as hell getting out of meetings. Then you go like,
go get a snack if you got you know, get ice, whatever,
and then go to bed cause you're hearing like in
(09:35):
some cases they would blow horns in the morning and
in other cases, I mean you just you got you know,
they come knock on your door like it's time to
get up, like time to go to work. And you
repeat that process over and over again. Man, you learn
a lot about who you are in training camp. TJ
was telling the story Marvin Lewis's training camp was so
(09:57):
hard that dudes were quitting. They didn't even have to
get they didn't even have to get let go or cut.
They were quitting just walked away like this ain't for me.
It can be a grueling task to get through a
training camp.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
It used to be I mean exactly, but there was
you know, two a day's legit two a days where
you're banging, you're hitting.
Speaker 5 (10:18):
And you guys knew that better than we did. As
a quarterback, you're not.
Speaker 4 (10:22):
But you get to sit back and watch it and
witness it, and you kind of you're just going, man,
this is It's tough. It's that galvanizing period in time.
Speaker 5 (10:30):
To a degree. There's elements of that now.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
But you know, I think what's happened with the league
as far as how they've changed the way they practiced
unless hitting, and also reducing the amount of preseason games.
That's where three now will probably get to two once
they put in eighteen regular season games.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
It's taken away that I guess.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Battle for making the roster, because when you had four games,
a lot of those guys who are competing to make
the roster, to Levar's point about like who's gonna be
with you and who's not those things, every single one
was an opportunity because you weren't just playing for your team,
trying to make your team. You're just trying to make
the league. Like you were trying to put good tape
(11:17):
out there to try to make a team, because one
of the busiest times and you know, it's funny, there's
two times in the NFL where you ask a front
office what's the busiest time for them, they will tell
you immediately after the draft that's one time, and then
immediately after final cuts that's the other time. Because there's
(11:38):
still some value of guys that you can get not
only on the back end of your roster, but also
in the practice squad, not only on yours, but potentially
from others that you kind of bring on and all that.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
So that time period is incredibly valuable.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
But it really came from the preseason games and then obviously,
you know the training camp.
Speaker 5 (11:59):
You know, not a lot of that's public.
Speaker 4 (12:01):
If you practice against another team something like that, another
team gets a chance to evaluate you and and then and.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
You're out there.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
So you always felt like you're not just playing for
your team, you're playing for every team in the NFL
anytime you put something on tape. And that's to me,
at least, was one of the reasons why for a
lot of the guys who have maybe their last days
playing football or they're back into the roster guys.
Speaker 5 (12:22):
It was incredibly important to have for preseason games.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
It wasn't for veteran guys, because you know, the older
you get, the more you realize the exact same thing.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
LeVar said. It's it's not relationship a building.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
It's not this like cohesive you know group that's you know,
fighting through something to get to the season.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
It's not that anymore.
Speaker 4 (12:41):
It's now like you kind of made to make sure
you get their healthy so you could hopefully perform the
way you'd like to once the season starts.
Speaker 5 (12:48):
And that's kind of essentially been how it's been for
a while.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Now. I'll tell you one story, and it's always the
funniest story you. Hugh Douglass always lef. That's his ass off.
When I see like every once in a while he'll laugh.
But we had the Marty Schottenheimer training camp. It was
so hard, it was so hot, it was so grueling.
(13:13):
One time I lost the color. I couldn't see color.
I had to go get like four bags and fluid. Yeah,
I couldn't see any color, Like it was utterly like
black and white. Stupid. But the one day, the one
day Marty decides we're going to do Oklahoma drills and
(13:36):
Bruce Smith is looking like I'm not doing note Oklahoma drills,
Like what are you crazy? Like you know what year
this is for me? They're like, Bruce, you're doing You're
doing the drill like you're in the drill. So Bruce
steps up and does the drill. He's upsessed, upset like
straight peede off. He lines up, throws, throws the blocker
(14:01):
out of the way like dang. Bruce is mad. Then
he hits the running back bam, straight collision. He hits
him and then he drops right, he drops, He gets up,
he crabbed his shoulder and went off the field. Next next,
(14:25):
maybe two reps or so later, a dude breaks his
leg into Oklahoma drill and Marty goes, everybody, let's come
together and let's pray. Everybody like circles up. Everybody's kneeling.
It gets quiet. Marty's about to pray. Did you hear
somebody in the back go pray? Pray for what? Pray
(14:49):
for something? That's matt and that's going on around here.
Speaker 7 (14:53):
We all turned around, bus out laughing, and it was
Bruce Broke is holding shoulder, hanging off the hanging off
the boat bell pray.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Pray for what did he pray for something of this
matt and that is going on around heah legitimately hurt
his shoulder.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Yes he did, Yeah he did. He did take another
physical rep the rest of that that training camp, A.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Lee, I have a question for you because and then
no judgment here, but when's the last time you ate
Taco Bell?
Speaker 5 (15:27):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (15:28):
That's a good question. I am not a Taco Bell fin.
Speaker 8 (15:31):
I have had it somewhat recently, but I'm a Dell
taco guy.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Okay, all right, well, all right, it sounds even worse.
Do you like heart or soft tacos from Taco Bell? Soft?
I like soft shells.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
I used to soft guy.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
I used to be really into soft. But you know what,
I tried it recently. The heart the heart shell tacos
are by far better than the soft fire. Right. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (15:54):
And by the way, one of the best kept secrets
in fast food is del Taco serves a pretty mean
burger and fries.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
They do so, but they the crinkle fries or whatever.
You're why, that's the best kept secret. Don't nobody do it.
Nobody goes, that's why. But not for a burger or anything.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
This is what I was wondering is there is there
any way that you can go onto Taco bell dot
com and just you know, do like a make believe order,
and how much could you get today for three hundred dollars?
Speaker 8 (16:24):
I'm pretty sure you could buy a Taco Bell for.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
I wonder like, how like how much food? Is that?
A lot of family packs? Because we used to do
the fifth quarter after when I was coaching, we used
to do a fifth quarter at my house and that
was the only restaurant that would deliver at the hour
that we got home. Family packs. Yeah, you could get
a lot. You could get a lot. It's a ton
of like, yeah, give you're not spending three hundred bucks,
(16:49):
are you? Not quite three hundred? But it's in the hundreds.
It is in there. I mean it's like what like
twenty twenty people as like twenty people or so that
we're coming over, Yeah, well we will. We'll keep you posted.
This is like this. That's how I discovered I like
hard tacos better than soft ones. I was like, man,
(17:11):
the soft tacos all right? And then they were out
because everybody was eating soft ones, and I try out
to horror.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
I was like, wait a second, they still do double
decker tacos.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Where they put a soft one on top of the harway. Yeah, yeah,
I do. Yeah, remember that back in the day.
Speaker 3 (17:26):

Speaker 1 (19:35):
So we mentioned this.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Kind of little fun, little exercise here. Brady had talked
about how when he was a rookie, the veterans made
him by three hundred dollars worth of Taco Bell and
eat it before workouts the next morning or the night
before for practice.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
On workouts was practice.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Lee went on and tried to do a make believe
order to see what you can you'd get nowadays from
Taco Bell for three hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
So, Lee, what what did the return look like? So?
Speaker 8 (20:06):
Yeah, I did ten variety party packs which includes six
Crunchy tacos as well as six nacho cheese doritos locos tacos.
So that's twelve tacos per pack. You get ten of those,
so that's one hundred and twenty tacos, six, six crunchy
six doritos or excuse me, sixty and sixty. Then you
(20:26):
get a crunch Wrap Supreme, you get one of those
new cheese at toastatas, and then you get a couple
a couple meeting two BRC burritos. That comes out to
two ninety nine and thirty six, one hundred and twenty tacos,
two burritos, and a couple of crunch wraps of premes.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
That's just not a lot. It's not enough dollars. Yeah,
for three hundred dollars, What the hell's happened to fast food?
Speaker 5 (20:44):
Now?
Speaker 1 (20:44):
That's a lot For three hundred dollars in twenty twenty four,
that's a lot.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Bro, how many tacos you uhould say?
Speaker 1 (20:52):
One hundred and twenty that's a lot.
Speaker 5 (20:54):
You don't feel like that's a lot. That's not even
on top of everything else that comes with it.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
Because other than that, it's like sellaneous like crunch wrap
burrito or whatever.
Speaker 1 (21:03):
The hell that's a lot.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
Burrito, how many burritos come with it? Lee?
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Only two burritos.
Speaker 5 (21:10):
With what the entire thing?
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (21:12):
Two burritos too, burritos per No, No, it's just two burritos.
These variety packs are basically twelve tacos each, so ten
of those that basically came out to two eighty and
then I threw out a few things like the toast
hotas and the burritos.
Speaker 5 (21:27):
Man that sounds like a lot of food. It definitely
was more back then, I can tell you this much.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
I want to say we had at least like there
were so many takers, so much food I felt. We
tried to clean up as best we could because I
felt bad for the cleaning staff the next day, but
it was it was a mess.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
How much is an individual taco at Taco Bell? I
just did the math.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
It's two dollars and thirty three cents per taco in
the family pack.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
But I know for a fact Taco Bell tacos used
to be seventy five cents to a dollar, So how
I'm that's just that's expensive. That's so expensive.
Speaker 5 (22:03):
It's also is this a Taco Bell in California?
Speaker 8 (22:06):
Funny enough, I just realized this is actually went in Georgia,
Oh Georgia.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
It's probably more expensive here.
Speaker 5 (22:11):
Then.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Let me tell you something that's a producer right there,
keeping rundown integrity, you see that way to go Lee
because speaking to Georgia, Kirby Smart.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Talking, they going bay some tacos with that in I
on one you know, I don't know if you have
any left over yet he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Win, So Kirby Smart they've got this. Uh, it's a problem.
There's been a lot of issues with players driving recklessly
there with the Georgia football team and program, a lot
of some tragedy as well to go along with it.
And so Kirby Smart was talking yesterday at SEC Media
Days about how they're handling the issues that they've had
(22:52):
with the program there.
Speaker 10 (22:54):
I think the number one thing is disappointed. Anytime you
have a situation like that, you won't to your kids,
your players to make better decisions. And I always say
you can't be outcome related. And I'm very disappointed in
the outcomes. But I am very pleased with our process
we put in in terms of education driver safety, requiring
(23:18):
defensive driving education, talking about it, having leaders stand up
and talk about it, bringing speakers in and talk about it,
Suspending players, dismissing players, which we've done. I don't know
to this point any coaching college football that suspended a
player for a driving citation. We have, and we've also
dismissed players based on driving citations.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Nobody's done that.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
He's also pointed out that the NIL Collective has fine
players substantially. According to Kirby.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Smart, I'd be curious to see who those players were
that got dismissed and suspended. You think they were starters?
I don't know. I'm just going to say I would
be curious to see who they were, if they were
of note or if they were not of note they
were dismissed, Like did you dismiss a starter? Like was
there a Rock Bowers? Was there? You know what? I
(24:07):
would probably guess not. I would be I would guess
not unless you really felt like you needed to make
an example, right, You know, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
First off, what he's saying, though, is pretty standard in
regards to collectives and their agreements with student athletes. There's
a player conduct policy. I mean, most have it in
there in the event that something happens where they would
be subject to, you know, breaching that contract, breaching the deal.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
So that's not uncommon.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
I mean, anyone who does or lives in that world
knows that. And look, I'll say this, man, if you
just go back listen to sound. Man, he just sounds
like a ball coach. Every time I hear Kirby smart speak,
Am I all right, coach? Where are we going next?
Speaker 5 (24:52):
You know? What are we gonna do? He just he
just sounds like a good old ball coach. You know,
something to him, man, I mean.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
He's had a help of a run there. You have
to have a hell of a run. He's still on one.
Speaker 5 (25:03):
Just let's play it back over time. Just listen to
his voice.
Speaker 10 (25:07):
I think the number one thing is disappointed. Anytime you
have a situation like that, you want your kids, your
players to make better decisions. And I always say, you
can't be outcome related. And I'm very disappointed of the outcomes.
But I am very pleased with our process we put
in in terms of education driver safety, requiring defensive driving education,
(25:33):
talking about it, having leaders stand up and talk about it,
bringing speakers in and talk about it, Suspending players, dismissing players,
which we've done. I don't know to this point any
coaching college football that suspended a player for a driving citation.
We have, and we've also dismissed players based on driving citations.
Speaker 5 (25:50):
Nobody's done that.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
They're forty two and two of the last three years.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
It's ridiculous, man. I mean you really could have made
a case. Last year them big in.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
The place, they were the best team and they lost.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
They were number one the entire year. They lose to
Bamba in the each conference championship game and they get bounced.
And if you would have put them in the playoff,
and look, I know we don't use gambling odds as
an indication. That's not how this really works. They probably
would have been favored versus everyone. It's crazy to me,
(26:22):
and they have I mean, obviously, in my opinion, they're
gonna be one of the favorites one in the season.
But if they don't want another one, it would be
surprising to me. Just I think they're that good after
what happened last season. Now he's got a little extra
fire and motivation to coach those kids up.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
With the issue with the reckless driving and everything there
at the program, what is that, you know? I wonder.
I don't know for certain, but I just wonder if
it's because they were driving to Atlanta. See, I would
assume they're leaving Athens and going to Atlanta. Now I
(27:01):
don't know how far Athens is from from Athens? Athens
is from Atlanta. Yeah, I'm not I'm not.
Speaker 5 (27:09):
Sure Jonas is gonna have a free right here.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
Yeah, like you don't, you don't really don't know? Yeah,
tell me, Wow, that's crazy. No, I'm just like, tell no,
I was just surprised that you didn't know what, like
how long that was?
Speaker 5 (27:23):
Just well, how long? Has just tell us?
Speaker 3 (27:26):
I mean everybody knows. It's like around an hour and
seventeen minutes.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
So there you go. Yeah, So if you're if you're
a guy who has one of these hell cats, these
SRTs and stuff like that, or you know, turbocharged trucks
that they're driving and stuff like that they're getting, they're
trying to get to Atlanta in what under an hour?
(27:52):
I would I would be curious as to know how
many of these these citations or these things taking place
was on the way or on the way back, on
the way to or on the way back from Atlanta.
What's in Atlanta, I mean more than what's in Athens.
I don't know, since a lot in Athens uh uh bruh.
(28:14):
That ain't even up for debate. They're going to Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
I mean, Ludacris did a spring game in Athens and
they were handing out condoms.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
It seems like there's a lot going on.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
Trust me, move bitch, get out the way.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
Tang, yeah, tang, you heard him. Johnson. Now, it's like
parking citations everybody, you name me one which I'll never
understand this. Why is there not designated parking on campus?
I mean maybe that's changed, but why is there not
designated parking on that's free for the football players? I'll
(28:56):
never understand that. I mean Kurt Enus, he had.
Speaker 5 (29:01):
The had.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
His locker used to have so many orange orange packages,
and it I guess he was destined for the for
the Bears because there was so many parking citations in
his locker and he just throw them in his locker,
never paid him, just throw in his locker and never bothered,
bothered to pay them. Everybody there's like every campus, guys
(29:27):
be getting parking citations. Man, I just I'm I'm to me.
I would be curious as to what the specifics of
what where they were at Where these players are when
they're getting these these citations and the speeding because there's
a lot of aggressive driving that's being discussed about these players,
(29:49):
and you know at Georgia, what where is it taking place?
Is it on campus or is it is it highway driving?
I would be curious to know, man.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
I will never forget I parked quickly. I was told
to park there by a professor to go popp in
his offic see him real quick. And someone called them
from the building two that I was blocking them in.
Speaker 5 (30:12):
I need to tow my car, and I had flashers
on all that. So I come back outside.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
I'm saying there probably for like eight minutes, ten minutes,
and someone comes into like, hey, your car is getting towed.
So we walk out and I and then you know,
once it's up, right, once they get it, it's up,
they're not putting it down unless unless you're at least
paying them, like you now you've got to pay them now.
It's a transaction. And so the Professor's like, I told
(30:38):
him to park here. This is perfectly okay. And he's like, well,
someone called it in and it's already up now. So
and he's like and I was like, I don't. He's like,
I was like, how much is it? I think he
said like I was one hundred and fifty bucks or so.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
One hundred and fifty bucks. Then then now you get irate.
Now you're out right.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
I'm not irate. I just look at him.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
I go, I look at the Professor's like, I don't
have one hundred fifty dollars on me, right, right at college,
like you know, it's turning around, that's what it.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I would have been irate, like I'd have been going
out to cut the professor, like.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
You no, no, he professor.
Speaker 5 (31:11):
Professor looked at me and goes, I will, I will
pay this for you. I said, okay. I was like,
I appreciate that. I was like, I'll And at that
point I didn't feel like obligated.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
To pay him back, would you?
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Because yeah, because I'm thinking, like he told me to
park here, that's all him. So he pays the toe
the toe guy one hundred and fifty bucks and I
get my car. Can I drive on my way? I
head over to the facility and I get it. I
get it called up to the coach's office. This is
probably like three hours later, and he goes, hey, he's like,
(31:43):
what did you do. I'm like, what do you mean?
He goes, we just got we got a call from
the compliance office. He said, you're ineligible. I go, what
do you mean that professor paid for you? Because the
professor paid for the car? I go, are you I
get what? I stood up there?
Speaker 1 (31:57):
Now?
Speaker 5 (31:58):
Now am I right now? I'm like what do you mean?
I was like, I was like I did nothing wrong
in this case, I said.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
He told me to part there and then he and
he was the one that paid for I was like,
I don't have one hundred freny bucks cash. So Charlie
was Charlie Weis's head coach at the times, like, look,
here's what you have to do, all right, You've got
to make a donation to a charity.
Speaker 5 (32:17):
He goes so, and I can't remember.
Speaker 4 (32:19):
I want to say it had to be like double
whatever it was, so I think it was like a
three hundred dollars donation.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
And I made it to Hinna and Friends, his charity,
his daughter, his daughter's charity.
Speaker 4 (32:32):
And that was how I was able to get back
at eligible to even practice that the later on that day.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
But you didn't pay that? Who paid it?
Speaker 5 (32:40):
No, no, no, I had to write a check.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
I paid it, so you got paid. You had to
pay three hundred dollars geez correct.
Speaker 4 (32:48):
It was some ridiculous. I was like, this is the
most It was at that point where I realized it
was like the NCA ain't gonna be around that much longer.
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Why didn't you just do the responsible thing and assault
the tow truck driver? Just get your car off the right.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
I mean you are Brady Quinn. Yeah, at Notre Dame,
you would wear his ass out use a tire iron. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
I mean I wasn't mad at the guy for doing
what he was asked to do. I was, honestly, I
was more impressed. I was like, no that I wasn't
in there that long. Not only did he get over there,
like he had to have been parked just off campus
and flown to get to the spot, so he must
have like high tailed it to get there, and then he.
Speaker 5 (33:26):
Got it up so quick. I was like dang.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
I was like, man, maybe I mean I should start
trying to own one of these tow truck businesses.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
They seem to be, oh, grab you up quick, go
to Scottsdale. Have you ever been to Scottsdale.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
Huh well yeah, but I've never been told there.
Speaker 1 (33:38):
Oh Scottsdale. They get you quick, done, gone, next car.
Boot It just gone, next car. They throw the boot on.
It's over.
Speaker 7 (33:48):
Man.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Listen here, if you know about Scottsdale, you know about
scotts they will grab your they don't. I mean, it's
like it's so like literally, they drive up next to it,
they adjust it, they get your tires, pull the car
out of the parking lot, out of the parking space,
and and and take it off like gone, literally like
(34:13):
a minute. It's a minute. It's a minute. Your car's gone.
And they just drive around the whole entire night, getting
tourists or or meat hits that don't care, just grabbing
their cars. In Scott's, the old town. They get you.
I don't have that problem because even the tow truck
drivers don't want my car. Dang, you ain't lying. No,
they'd be like, leave that piece of ass there, man,
(34:36):
Why would I Why would I put my car? Why
would I connect my truck to that? Yeah, nobody wants that.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
It's probably liability for them. They try to connect it
and just falls apart and.
Speaker 5 (34:46):
They're like, no, I have to pay this guy tank.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Yeah, it's like some full front falls off, like some
old legos put together.
Speaker 3 (34:53):

There are some good things that happen, and there's some bad,
and then there's some downright ugly things. It's time for good,
bad and ugly.
Speaker 1 (35:59):
All right, lead Lap who's got what well?
Speaker 8 (36:01):
As we do each and every Wednesday, we start with
the good, and this week, Jonas, you delivered the good.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
The good is you can get the sense that football
is just right around the corner. We got players reporting
to training camp, we heard some stories from LeVar and
Brady earlier. You've got the first preseason game, the Hall
of Fame game, in two weeks. It feels like we've
gotten through the real rough patch and now we're here
and football's right around the corner.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
So I'll keep it brief.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
Tis the season to get excited because Christmas is just
over the hill in a couple of weeks from now.
Speaker 5 (36:35):
Nice, good job, Jonas.
Speaker 8 (36:37):
Well, Jonas can have good without the bad. And Brady,
what was bad this week?
Speaker 5 (36:41):
Oh? This is a layup.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
I mean, I don't know that I've ever heard a
worse rendition of the national anthem, at least publicly speaking,
I should say.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
So. I understand that.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
Ingrid Andre's so dress how do you pronounce her last name?
I understand she's come out and said she's going to
go into rehab and she's blaming on the fact that
she was drunk. Okay, doesn't take away from what we
all had to listen to an endure, So Lee, could
you play it for me?
Speaker 5 (37:06):
Do we have a little skip? I don't need to
listen that anymore. Yeah, that was the bad without a doubt.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Well, can we get worse than that? From bad to worse?
Lavarro was ugly. I mean, I guess the one thing
that I could say would be maybe ugly, maybe worse
its Skip Bayless skipping out one. Wow, that's my ugly
for this week. I'm standing on that business. Uh seems
(37:45):
like there's reports that have surface saying that well ESPN
don't want him either, So I don't know what's next
for Skip. Good luck to you, Skip, but it's kind
of ugly.
Speaker 5 (37:57):
Man.
Speaker 1 (37:57):
The way this whole thing kind of unfolded. At best
one would undispute it. And it's ended with Skip rolling out.
We said, we said, Ludacris said, get out the way.
Well in this segment is yeah, So there you go.
That's my good for the West. You know what I
like Ski? All right.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
I know a lot of people are gonna bury the
guy and kick him on the way out, But you
know a lot of people a lot of money in
this ban, including himself.
