Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's a Dan Patrick Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
LaVar Arrington, Brady Quinn, Jonas Knox in for Dan and
the guys.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Let's talk about it.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
We are going to take you all the way up
until the end of this hour noon Eastern time, nine
o'clock Pacific. You can find us weekday morning six am
Eastern time, three o'clock Pacific right before the Dan Patrick Show.
You can listen to it on the iHeartRadio app and
hundreds of affiliates all across the country. As we part
ways with the week that was here on this Friday
(00:34):
morning and we opened up the show, there's been a
lot going on here. We talked about the Open Championship.
Scotti Scheffler apparently kind of fart during a backswing that
we discussed.
Speaker 4 (00:47):
I should have followed through, but semantics.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, it was after the great shot, a yet quality
fart really really pushed it out.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
So great.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
If we could get a live bed Jesus to push
one out and give us a better too, Yeah, nobody's
ready for that.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Nobody wants any part of the Jesus. Nobody wants any
part of that smoke, so we've had that. We also
talked about Lloyd Howell stepping down as NFLPA president. You
had nothing to see here, just gonna go ahead and
walk away now. And then TJ wat getting his deal
done three year, one hundred and twenty three million dollar extension.
He's getting forty one million a year, so he's the
(01:23):
highest paid non quarterback in NFL history, which just goes
to show you how far the market has grown, considering
I think what was he making like twenty million a
year something along those lines, and when he signed his
deal previously, So pretty wild to see sort of where
that market has gone. And then when you talk about
the Pittsburgh Steelers, I mean, you can't help but talk
(01:44):
about the Steelers without mentioning Levar's guy Aaron Rodgers and
Cam Hayward was on the Rich Eisen Show and had
this to say about the arrival of a Rodge in
the Burg.
Speaker 5 (01:58):
I just felt like he was bought in, and you know,
it worked out for the best. Like I know, sometimes
we live in a society where we want things now,
but you know, patience has a way of you know,
paying off and to announce he's at Pittsburgh Steeler and
just walk him walking through the locker room asking questions
how we do things. He's bought in and you know
(02:19):
that's all I can ask for, you know, our quarterback
and as a teammate. You know, I'm excited to go to.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Work with him.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
I'm bought into, all right, Yeah, I'm bought in two
go aheak you. This will be year two of supporting
Aaron Rodgers with little to no support from lebar This
is why.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Do people think that he wouldn't buy in though, I mean,
I think it's just because he wasn't present.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
He wasn't there.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
I mean, we we talked about, you know, there's some
personal stuff he was dealing with during the summertime. We
talked about how there was a potential thought that maybe
he doesn't want to have to be signed with a
team before a mandatory you know deal. So it's not
a big storyline like some of the stuff was last
year at the mandatory mini camp and you know, going
on overseas.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
Or something with James Van Derbeek.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
But whatever the case may be, what's interesting is it
feels like whatever the perception is of him, he gets
there in those teammates like him.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Is that?
Speaker 4 (03:14):
Am I wrong in saying.
Speaker 6 (03:15):
That, I don't know. I've heard I don't know. I mean,
I don't know what you mean. I don't know. I mean,
I don't know. It sounded as though the teammates liked
him in New York. That's after it came out, you know,
after he left. It wasn't about him. So I will say,
I just don't. I don't know about Pittsburgh.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Garrett Wilson was rumored to not be a fan. But
I heard that too, you know, I think that's a
Garrett Wilson problem. To be honest with you, I don't know,
But go ahead, finish your point.
Speaker 6 (03:46):
Let's just say, for the sake of saying, there's probably
a high chance that he's probably liked by his teammates.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
I think he's a he's a deeper guy. He's a
type of guy that looks at everything and analyzes everything
and takes it all in. And I don't know why
there was a thought that he wouldn't, you know, want
to go in there and be a part of the
historic franchise that does things a certain way and respect
the leaders that have been there, like Cam Hayward and
done an incredible job before that. So look, I'm always
(04:15):
optimistic because as a former quarterback, he is one of
the most talented that I think this league's ever seen.
And not everyone can end their career like Tom Brady
did or John Elway did where you know, yeah, there's
a couple of seasons after for Tom, but he's going
to the playoffs every year and still playing at a
really high level. You know, for Aaron Rodgers, when he
(04:36):
is playing at a high level, Dude, it's like an art.
I mean, it's beautiful when you watch him out there,
the way he plays, and when it's not though it's
it's tough. And so for his sake for Pittsburgh Steelers fans,
which I can't believe I'm saying this because I've grown
up to hate the Pittsburgh Steelers, I'm hoping that it
works out because I want them to be competitive. I
(04:58):
want them to be good. NFL is better when the
Pittsburgh Steelers are competitive and good in the mix and
you get some of those old school games and robberies
that we're accustomed to seeing. And I know Mike Tomlin
has brought them a level of consistency, but not so
much in regards to truly contending. So I hope for
the state, for the sake of again, I cannot believe
(05:19):
this is coming out of my mouth right now.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
For the.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Nation.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I just I, okay, come on, say this. Come on.
I'm just saying.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
I want him to be good. I want this to work.
If this is it for him, I want to see
the best version of him. The Steelers, everything else, because
I think that is better for the NFL, It's better
for all of us.
Speaker 6 (05:42):
I'm a Steelers fan, y'all. Just so y'all know, don't
get carried away, listen. I think this this is Cam
Hayward addressing a bigger issue than Aaron Rodgers that they
have been under very intense scrutiny over the last couple
(06:04):
of seasons and doing part to the idea of how
much it surrounds one their quarterback's position, to the lack
of efficiency on the offensive side of the ball, three
the malcontents that continue to resonate or merge from from
(06:25):
that that locker room. I think Cam Hayward is addressing
a larger a larger issue by narrowing it down to
saying that one is buying in. I think is the
question is how many of these guys are buying in?
What's this locker room like, what they like.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
A room full of derelkts. It's possible, It's possible.
Speaker 6 (06:52):
And and again, listen, you just got rid of one
that didn't buy in, that is arguably the most talented
player on the team. You get rid of them, you
bring in one who has has maybe a reputation of
possibly being one that doesn't buy in. In Ramsey, You
bring in one that could possibly be perceived as one
(07:14):
that doesn't necessarily always buy in. In Metcalf, you bring
in another one that you could possibly say, by the
looks of their reputation, that they may have not always
had fully bought in in Aaron Rodgers, I think cam Hayward,
being the leader that he has been and being the
tenured leader that he has been, I think that's saying
(07:37):
that you could at least put to rest one component
one aspect of a bigger conversation, Because to me, that
is the bigger conversation in Pittsburgh is how much of
a team will this be? How much you know, he said,
buy into the Steeler culture, how much of that Steeler
(07:59):
culture is still winning? Still in culture. It's still a culture.
So I think he's addressing a bigger issue here that
actually stems beyond the parameters of what Aaron Rodgers represents
to this team.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Well. I also think Rogers too, him signing with Pittsburgh
and his reasoning behind it, you know, talking about, you know,
a play in a place like Pittsburgh and go back,
and you know, I didn't need to come back, but
I want to come back and you know, play with
peace and grace and be grateful for all these I
think that says a couple of things too. One, it
(08:36):
shows you how much he appreciated his time in Green
Bay upon further review, and that appreciation grew because of
what a disaster the Jets were. And I think he
looks at this as like, man, I got to rid
myself of that, and I just want to go somewhere
where it feels as close to Green Bay as anywhere
else in the NFL. And if you had to pick
(08:57):
a place, that's probably the most similar Mom and pop Ish,
if you will, Pittsburgh's that place.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
But again, you gotta be careful with that, because what
I just gave is explanation and what you just gave
is explanation tied into what Q gave as an opening,
you know, in terms of the observations, if you look
at all of those in totality, it still comes back
to That's what's being questioned in Pittsburgh right now, like
(09:26):
do they still have that mentality? Do they still have
that culture as as an organization? And how does Aaron
Rodgers fit into that? How does that Because some would say,
I mean, and I hate to say it because I
am a fan of this franchise, some would say that
you could consider Pittsburgh a dysfunctional organization right now. There's
(09:51):
a level of dysfunction taking place. I mean, you see
guys like Pickings, who you have the greats of the
greats that are raining down on him, like Meil Blunt
had some really really pointed things to say about, you know,
about him and his mentality. You got Terry Bradshaw dropping
(10:13):
dropping criticisms, heavy criticisms of how he doesn't feel good
about about Tomlin as a coach. Like there, I mean,
there are there are guys who are stone cold fixtures
and pillars of that community that aren't fans of what's
going on with that organization.
Speaker 2 (10:32):
They're not awful this isn't the Jets or the Jaguars.
There's still a playoff team. They haven't had a losing
record since Tomlin's been there.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
It's not like there there.
Speaker 6 (10:40):
If I'm looking at it from listening to your perspective
versus Rocky Blier or Meil Blunt or or you know,
Terry Bradshaw, You're gonna lose out on that one. That's
all I'm saying that, whether what you're saying is reality
or not, you're gonna lose out when you have those
guys of his story value saying what they're saying about
(11:02):
this team currently.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Go look you no, I was just gonna say, I mean, look,
that's their opinion.
Speaker 3 (11:06):
You know.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
I think guys like Terry Bradshaw, you know, he's always,
you know, voiced his opinion on where he sees the
organization and the team compared to where he thinks it
should be or where it was during that time. With
those guys, there's no doubt there's been criticisms of this
team because the expectation there is super Bowls. I mean,
that's what it is. It's not just hey, we've had
a winning record or excuse me, we never had a
(11:27):
losing record under Mike Tomlin. Yes he's one one, but
it's been a while and this is a hungry fan base,
is one of the more passionate fan bases, So you
can understand where there would be some criticism. I look
at the opposite way, though. It feels like they seem
to get rid of guys well first off episode this
they take in guys who may be other teams, whether
(11:50):
it was Antonio Brown or George Pickens or whoeveryone appoint to.
That may be some problem guys, and look, some probably
work out, some don't. But I'll say this, when they
make a mistake, they admit it and they do move on.
That's fair. The Antonio Brown trade at the time, we
were like, what are you doing? And then we started
(12:13):
saying to Antonio Brown.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
What are you doing? So well so?
Speaker 4 (12:19):
And then you look at George Pickens and you're like, well,
could this be a problem. He's so talented, but it
seems like maybe times well they trade him so and
you bring DK Metcalf, so you fill in that void.
So I would say that as much as there may
be that criticism, I also think you could look at
it and say they're willing to admit mistakes or they're
willing to admit that we need to cut bait and well,
(12:40):
you need to move forward, but without some of these
players to get this culture back to what some of
these older players are referring to. And I just think
it's hard to uphold that when you don't have a
Ben Roethlisberger. You know, when you yes, you've got some
guys on defense who've been the guy, but you really
haven't had that strong offensive personality there, in particular at
(13:03):
the quarterback spot. And I think when you don't have that,
it's gonna be tough for guys on defense to be
able to play it as high of a level as
him and TJ. Watt and all the rest of the
guys do, but also be able to hold everyone else
accountable because you don't have that strong voice on that side.
So I think that's gonna be different for this year.
I'm just more curious to see what the offense is
(13:25):
gonna look like. That's always what fascinates me the most
in regards to a future Hall of Famer guys talented
as Rogers, is are they going to adapt to what
he wants to do? Are they gonna adapt? Or is
he gonna adapt to what they want to do, because
if you look at the end of Green Bay, it
was a lot of things that Lafleur wanted to do
that he started to mix in there and it was
(13:46):
successful to a degree. And then even with Jordan Love
it's been successful to a degree. So you know, does
he assimilate to their culture and their offense or are
they are they working with him saying this is your
last shot at right, like, that's what we're assuming. Let's
let's do what you want to do. What do you
feel most comfortable doing. We're gonna make everyone else kind
(14:07):
of adapt around that.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
I mean, it does make the Week one matchup against
the Jets that much more intriguing though when you see, uh,
just sort of the backstory, the storylines, because I mean
basically Justin Fields chose the Jets, Rogers ended up taking
the Steelers gig and then you get to see them
play it all out.
Speaker 6 (14:26):
Rogers didn't choose the Steelers though, well, you mean he
could have retired. He could have retired, Yeah, but he
didn't choose the Steelers. That wasn't like it was his
first choice. I think everybody knew he wanted to choose
somewhere differently than where he ended up.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Are you saying that that was all that was lost?
That was all was that? That was it?
Speaker 6 (14:45):
That was like that nine dollars jacket that you talked
about earlier in the show, Like that that jacket was
there and you left it there, Like he didn't leave
it there.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
He went and got the jacket.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Happens to be a good historic, a good organization that
you chose to get that that discount jacket, But nonetheless
that was the only thing available to that man to
continue his career at the NFL level.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Just so people, Dan Patrick fans who are unfamiliar with this,
LeVar Arrington has his picture on the wallet Primanny Brothers.
That's what a celebrity is in Pennsylvania, and he has
done nothing but ridicule and criticize and shame the Steelers
for this pairing with Aaron Rodds.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
I have some built up equity in Pennsylvania, So if
I choose to use it every once in a while,
especially on that side of the state, I'm gonna use it.
So it could come across, It could come across. As
I'm being, you know, unreasonable about it, But like I mean,
some would say it would sound like hating.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
I wouldn't disagree with it. I mean, their schedule is
brutal this year, there is.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
I can't see it. I really can't. I can't see
it if they're if they're good. I saw one of these,
you know, news outlets talking about is it super Bowl
or bust for the Pittsburgh Steelers. First of all, yes,
it is super bowler Bus. But then secondly, I don't
think that this roster is good enough to fall into
the category of super bowler Bus. I don't think they're
(16:17):
good enough to be a super bowler Bus team. And
their schedule does not say that they would be winning
a whole lot of games. It just doesn't. So we're
gonna see it again. The one thing that Pittsburgh has
always done is prove people wrong. It's like Pittsburgh the Steelers.
(16:37):
For as much success and as much pageantry and legend
as they hold and all the annals of sports, this
is still a team that has always taken on an
underdog's mentality. It's like a city that takes on an
underdog mentality. So if they can prove that they're the
(16:58):
underdogs that and they can you know, have a good
year and be successful and Aaron Rodgers can finish out strong.
I'll be the first one saying that I'm glad I
wasn't right. I'll be the first one saying this is amazing.
And I don't I could care less than somebody's like, oh,
but you were hating on them, don't cheer for them now.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Nah.
Speaker 6 (17:18):
Nobody has the right to say that to me. You don't,
you don't, it's not qualified, it doesn't matter. It will
be totally dismissed, totally dismissed from my conscience.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
When you get hashtag hostile.
Speaker 6 (17:35):
I mean, all I'm saying is is that's my team.
Everybody knows that, and I want to see the best
for them. I am a fan of the coach, I
am a fan of some of the players on the team.
I want to see them do well. But if they're
not doing well or if I see something, I'm gonna
say it. I'm gonna call it out. So and if
they're doing well, I'm gonna call that out too. So
I hope they do well. I'm just not expecting very much.
(17:58):
And that's not that that could be Pops me as
a radio personality, but it could possibly be more of
me as the Steeler for camp.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Okay, so you're you're you're getting out there on the
edge now. So I want to now help you make
a definitive state if you want to push me off
the fence.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Gout.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
No, no, no, I'm saying though, if this year doesn't
go well as it, it sounds like you don't think
it will.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
I don't. Are you saying this will be tomlins last year?
Speaker 6 (18:24):
I think I think it would be hard to justify
moving forward. But I do think it's interesting that they
extended the GM. If they hadn't extended the GM, I
would say definitively yes to what you just ask. I
don't find it to be as simple an answer today
(18:46):
because it it comes across to me as and for
some reason, I got this strange feeling that the quarterback
out of Ohio State is the one that they want
to be the next franchise quarterback of this tail Howard
at Will Howard, and I think you're able to do
what the Steelers have historically been able to do, which
(19:10):
is hide and not talk about at all the potential
of what that next player coming into the role would be. Now,
not at quarterback, that hasn't happened historically at the quarterback position,
but it has happened at other positions, more specifically at
the running backs position, the receiver's position, various defensive positions.
(19:34):
Linebacker probably the most famed of them all in terms
of guys just restocking and reloading different guys. But that
would be interesting if they were able to have success
this year. And the idea of it is is that
you're buying time for Howard to be the guy. It's
(19:55):
very possible. It's very possible, and if that's what it is,
then then great move, great job.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
It worked out.
Speaker 6 (20:02):
But if if all things given Q if if they
don't give him that extension that the GM Kahn con
what's his last name con Yeah, if they don't give
him the extension, I would say definitively, if they do
not have a successful season, which what is that defined by,
I don't know, But if they don't have like a
(20:22):
playoff season or are contending for the AFC North Divisional
crown and heading into the playoffs, uh in an impressive fashion.
It could possibly have been. Yes, it could be tomlins
last year as the coach, by the way.
Speaker 3 (20:40):
That was.
Speaker 2 (20:48):
And by the way, how Are you just gonna leap
frog Mason Rudolph and goes straight to Will Howard Mason
because it's coward, because he's still recovering from that assault
he suffered at the hands of Miles Crown.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
We're just gonna get past him and go right to Will.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
Yeah, after what he called him?
Speaker 6 (21:04):
What it was some type of profane piece of language
that was hused and very very direct, and possibly it
originated from some type of a racial.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Slur, because nobody else anywhere in the vicinity heard it
except for except for one guy.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
I don't think Pountcy even would have cared to hear it.
I think he just wanted to go throw down. I mean,
and that was Those were the type of players you
had in Pittsburgh. Do you have throw down well, Jayalen
Ramsey's a throwdown player. He might he has a Pittsburgh mentality,
like I think he'll fit in well in Pittsburgh. I
think it's they have on paper, there's the makings of
(21:45):
a pretty good team here in reality, I don't know
that it matches.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
Here's what I love about what they have. I think
all these guys got something to prove well. I think
after the way things went with the Jets. Rogers has
something to prove. I think the way things worth DK
and looking at Seattle as productive as he was and
Knock getting the contract all that, I think he's got something.
And then I think Jayalen Ramsey the same thing. Yeah,
I think they all have something to prove. So I
(22:12):
think when you align a lot of those guys together
and it takes some cohesion, but I think it can
be something special.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
Those are some strong ass personalities and you'd have to
assume that if there's one guy that has a strong
enough personality to be able to shoulder what would come
with adverse situations with that type of group, it'd be Tomlin.
I mean, but again that could be you know, that
could be perception. We're gonna have to wait and see,
because literally, these are some of these strongest personalities in
(22:42):
the league all on one team right now.
Speaker 2 (22:44):

Or as his zoom name is Liquor Store Lee. That'll
(24:19):
be uh, that'll be what we got coming up here
again to close up. If your nickname was liquor Store
Lee and you're proud like nothing better, which, by the way,
that you talk about a lost opportunity. I've told Lee
(24:42):
he should do like Portnoy does the pizza reviews. Lee
should review liquor stores in and around southern California.
Speaker 7 (24:50):
I should.
Speaker 9 (24:50):
That's a good idea. I live right around the corner
from Circus Liquor World Famous.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Oh yeah, interesting, Yeah, there's that. Okay, all right, So
I feel like somebody is to blame for this. We
almost had. I don't know if revolution is too strong
of a word, but all of a sudden, you saw
a couple of second round draft picks get guaranteed contracts,
and you thought, man, they're really going to dig in,
(25:19):
really going to dig in em. And worry from the
Seahawks also got a guaranteed contract, and then you thought,
all right, man, these guys are really gonna And now
you find out Nope, everybody's falling in line. Everybody's dropping
like flies. Guys are accepting lesson guaranteed contracts all throughout
the second round of the draft. And I feel like
the person to blame for this is Brady Quinn because you.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Had to give.
Speaker 2 (25:44):
The thought that, listen, this is all nice in theory
that they all band together, but somebody's gonna cave. Happens
every single time, and it literally took one player to
do it. And now you just go through the list
and they're all greeing seventy two percent guaranteed, forty seven
percent guaranteed, the first three years guaranteed, but not the
four Like, damn it, we almost had something here and
(26:06):
unfortunately now they're signing contracts to get ready for the
for the training camp coming up around the corner.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Yeah, I mean it's Alfred Collins's He's the one who
ultimately signed a deal that was an improvement upon last
year's player that was drafted in that slot. However, not
a fully guaranteed deal. So Clutch Sports Group, I believe,
is who handles his contract. And look, maybe the San
Francisco forty nine ers took a hard stance and it
(26:31):
got to a point where the agent and the player
they didn't want to push it any further. So that's look. Ultimately,
it comes down see what the player feels most comfortable.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
With agreeing to.
Speaker 4 (26:42):
But again, not having a ton of negotiating experience, there's
also a heavy portion that the agents play in regards
to their role and their ability to make sure the
player understands what exactly they're signing. So it's disappointing, but
this is why the owners win in every single collective
(27:02):
party in agreement or negotiation, because there's just a ton
of players and different guys set different priorities, and you know,
most aren't willing to sacrifice not only for their own good,
but really for the future, you know, for other players
after them to be able to tap into a better
deal as well.
Speaker 6 (27:22):
I don't know, man, you know, it's so many different
ways you could approach.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Where they right, where they wrong. The first round picks
are the same, man.
Speaker 6 (27:33):
Well, I didn't have ID I just was just hoping
that I get as much as I wanted to get.
You know, it is what it is. You know, I'm
the number two pick, give me my money.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
It was way harder back then because there was more
things to negotiate than it is now. Yeah, yeah, I
mean this, this is so simple nowadays, and and really
moving forward, you know, someone next year, whoever represents this
pick forty third overall where offered Collins was taken, someone's
gonna try to probably get a full guaranteed deal or
(28:06):
at least improve upon the percentage of guarantees within it.
Because up until this year, outside of the first round,
we kind of thought, all right, you know, second round
picks get this amountain guarantees usually, and then we saw
how the top of it played out. So agencies have
to try to harder and harder to create value. You know,
(28:28):
if you think about it, if it's slotted, you really
don't need an agent to do it. You could have
an attorney do it. So one way they're trying to
create value is trying to get full guarantees. So kudos
to those agents who've been able to do it.
Speaker 6 (28:39):
Yeah, but just not at my expense, you know. That's
that's how I think you got it spot on with
what you're saying, and good. Try to create more value
for me as a player. Try to create more value
for yourself. I have no problem with that, but you're right,
like these contracts have become slotted and that was something
that was work upon within the CBA, and it was
(29:03):
made so that you would not have hold out situations.
And yet here we are, and and so to me again,
I look at it as if it's a slotted contract.
If you want to try to push the envelope, you
can try to push the envelope because it's gonna it's
gonna impact me in having more guaranteed money, but do
(29:25):
not do it at my expense. Meaning whatever that contract is,
we tried, we tried, it didn't work. Okay, Like I'm
going this is what it was slotted to be. And
if that language that you're speaking of isn't isn't late
now granted, if it's like the first rounder for Cincy,
that's a little different. If this is what everybody was
(29:47):
getting before me, I'm not going backwards, but don't don't
have the expense of me going forward. That's that one's
a little bit more of a question mark you. That's
got to be by individual, because I look at it
like this. I understand the value of a dollar. I'm
coming in as a second round draft pick if I'm
(30:07):
able to make X amount of dollars. Then I'm in
seven figures getting to do what it is that I'm doing.
That's I mean, at the end of the day, I
have to take a good, long, hard look at the
fact that this is a slided contract and this is
my opportunity and I just have to make the best
of it.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Thirty three with Swessinger, thirty four was Jaden Higgins, thirty
five was im and Wari, thirty six is quin Shawn Judkins.
All three of those guys got guaranteed deals. I'm gonna
go out on a limb here and say quin Shawn
Jenkins is not going to get a guarantee contract, just
saying based on.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
All the one that's the one. Well, yeah, I mean
he's got the domestic violence, yeah, charge, Well that's it. Yeah, yeah,
that is true.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Even if you did, the struggle would be like two things, like,
you're you're signing him to this deal knowing what has
already occurred.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
And you drafted him. You drafted them knowing that, right,
and let's it happen after? Did it happen after the draft?
It happened happened after? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (31:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
So my point is, and I don't know, you'd have
to find an attorney to figure this out. But you know,
because it happened before they've actually signed the deal, you'd
have to think that the ownership knows this. So are
you are you trying to negotiate him guarantees after the
fact and trying to carve out well, hey, you you
drafted him, you know what you're dealing with. You know,
we're we're still negotiating this deal. So if we put
(31:25):
in guarantees, it's gonna exclude whatever's you know, punishment's gonna
happen from this. Or is the team saying no, no, no, no,
we drafted him with the intention of this. The guarantees
are going in. But if he is indeed convicted and
we go through the whole, you know, process of negotiations
and figuring this out, he's going to lose a portion
of that. He might lose all the guarantees that are
within that deal. So, you know, Quinchhn's is gonna be
(31:49):
one that it's gonna be interesting to follow. It's gonna
be harder for the guy who's drafted after him, because
at no fault for anything that player did. He might
be the one where it's stop getting one hundred percent
fully guaranteed purely because of the actions of quin Shawn
Jenkins time.
Speaker 3 (32:05):
Yeah, Sapa and Iah. He's the guy with the Dolphins.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
Who's gonna be sitting there, Because it looks like if
you just follow the numbers based on what Swessinger got
four years eleven point eight million, Higgins four years eleven
point seven, imn Wori four years eleven point six, you
just assume eleven point five would be the next one.
But that's junkins, so it kind of throws everything a
wrench for all that. And then you've got the quarterback
(32:31):
Tyler Shuck who's there at forty. So, yeah, it's gonna
be h It's gonna be interesting, but training camps right
around the corner, so who knows. Maybe they'll show up,
maybe they won't show up. And I think rookies report
this weekend, don't they. I think it's I think they

Speaker 6 (39:28):
Whoever came up with the idea of this segment, you
should get fined.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Okay, so we talked, you should get your name liquor
store lead. Do you have any liquor store advice for
people out there going to going to go shop or
do whatever they need to do.
Speaker 7 (39:42):
So I was looking up.
Speaker 9 (39:43):
I was looking up the world famous Circus Liquor which
is in North Hollywood.
Speaker 7 (39:46):
It's got the big forty foot tall cloud.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
You sounds so educated about it.
Speaker 9 (39:51):
Well, yeah, I mean you can get you get after
the show off got some bread and.
Speaker 6 (39:54):
Breakfast to that professional voice, He's the rock of liquor stores.
Speaker 9 (40:00):
I often go there for bread and breakfast, which is
a burrito spot. Bread and Breakfast and Bread and Breakfast.
Speaker 7 (40:08):
Yeah, it's called bread and Breakfast.
Speaker 9 (40:09):
It's it's you know, it's a pop up shop out
in the parking lot.
Speaker 7 (40:12):
At night it turns into.
Speaker 9 (40:13):
Pablito's Tacos, which also makes pizzas.
Speaker 7 (40:16):
H delicious pizzas.
Speaker 10 (40:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Do you have any advice for people listening across the country,
Not so cow related, but just general advice for how
to handle, like how to shop smart at a liquor store.
Speaker 9 (40:28):
Now, most liquor stores do a great job of packaging
things together and then giving you a discounted price, so
you could go there, especially on a hot pool day.
You get yourself like mind serves you a whole cooler.
So you get a cooler with a spout and everything,
and it comes with a bunch of beat boxes for uh, buzzballs.
Some some mixers get that and sometimes comes with some Cheetos.
Speaker 7 (40:48):
You crunch that in, push it in, make it so ridiculous.
Enjoy your summer.
Speaker 10 (40:52):
I have a great weekend. Don't listen to Lee
