Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, friend, Welcome to the Thaws Shower. Intern. John is
my name on this.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Well, when this comes out of you Friday, which big Friday,
because this Friday is the official anniversary of my first
day on The King Show, which is insane. So it's been,
I guess twelve years ago and this comes out. That
whole story is interesting. I think I told it here before.
By landed on Thursday. For whatever reason they want me

(00:25):
to start on Friday. I don't remember why it might
have been. I was like, might as wells get started
right away, land at Dulles. Nobody told me where to go.
I mean I had the address of the hotel, but
I thought it was Washington Avenue, not Washingtonian Avenue. So
end up in Baltimore, very exciting stations in Rockville. Then

(00:46):
nobody tell me. My first day, I needed a key
to get in the building. So it was just a
bit of a fun start. But here we are, twelve
years later, insane as the computer makes noise, fantastic, And yeah,
it's been.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
It's been a while.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
I was talking to somebody recently about this and I
said this on stage before two. But if you had
told me twelve years ago, all the bad things that
were gonna happen when I came here, I probably wouldn't
have come like legitim.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I'd be like, nah, I'm good.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
But the flip side is if you had told me
all the good things that are gonna happen, I wouldn't
have believed it. So there's kind of like the indo
that Yang. I'm just very grateful to be here and
thank you for being part of the journey. What a
journey it's been. I hate to be that guy, but
we're just getting started. There's a lot of good stuff coming.
Big weekend too for me. The official grand opening of

(01:38):
the bar i'm involved with is well Friday and Saturday,
the official opening Hide Social in Clarendon. If you get
a chance to come out, make sure to say hello.
The idea we kind of went for is wanting to
have a space where you can go. You can get
a cocktail, you can get food and have a conversation

(01:58):
with somebody. Too many places you try to go to
and you can't hear yourself think, and it's loud and
it's crowded, and somebody spills a drink on you or
steps in your shoe.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
That's not what we're doing.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
We're trying to be the opposite that you have a
place to sit, a place to have a drink, place
to have a vibe if you will. So if you
get a chance Clarendon, this weekend we're at the grand opening,
very exciting, hide social. If you get a chance to
come out, I would greatly appreciate it. Make sure to
say hi too. That's the most fun part. I have
no idea what I'm doing. Luckily I have great partners.

(02:30):
Shouts to my buddy Chuck and Buddy Flips, Buddy Ryan
as well. We had great partners doing something really special
and that's me. Most of my weekend. This weekend, like
the last week's, been kind of a blur because I
was at the bar last Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
and that was a lot. The plan though, this weekend's
to be here, be there Friday and Saturday, then Sunday

(02:52):
going to Commander's game with the buddies. So gonna be
a long weekend. Gonna be a fun weekend. Hopefully to
see there as well. By the way, We're gonna down.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
To the wire.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Pre sale is still available for the comedy album Internsjohn
the album drops officially November first. However, in order to
make this thing to number one, we get some pre orders,
So if you get a chance Internsoncomedy dot com. It's
about six bucks. You just click the button right there.
You can buy the album. If the album goes number one,

(03:21):
which I'm really hoping it does, my dad gets seven
minutes of free time on the show has to be
used all once. He cannot split it down the middle
and go three and a half three and a half.
I'm just gonna throw it out there right now, but
you have to perorder the album Internsjoncomedy dot com. I
want to hit this too for your Friday's week right
for the weekend. The signs you've settled for a mediocre life.

(03:42):
I have tried to the best that I can not
do this. I think there's always kind of ups and
downs with life and sometimes things go overwhelming.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Hey, I get that, trust me, I get that.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
But this is just overall, like you know, as far
as we know, we only have one life, you know
what I mean. I do think it's it's important to
note too that it's never too late to make that change.
We had somebody on the show, a couple of weeks ago,
but I believe it was in their sixties, decide go
back to school, got their degree. I thought it was fantastic.
Number one thing, cording the experts, if you're always just fine,

(04:15):
if you catch yourself saying fine, you're not bad. Whenever
somebody asks how you're doing, it's time to make you're
probably stuck in a rut.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Here's the thing they say. Not every day is some fireworks.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
But if fine is your baseline, you've likely fallen into
a funk. Life is meant to have highs and lows,
not just a steady stream of bland. I do think, yeah,
I mean, I do think. There's there's days certainly we're fine.
It's okay, you know what I mean. Fine, it's okay
to be fine. If you're just maintaining, that's okay. Obviously

(04:47):
every day the goals take a step forward, but nothing
wrong with maintaining. However, to this point, if it is
always just fine and just fine and just fine, yeah,
it might be in a rut.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
I don't disagree.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
If your dreams are always on the burner, if you're
telling yourself you get to your dreams one day, you're
fooling yourself. That elusive someday never shows up in the calendar,
and before you know it, there's once big goals of
yours shirtingto could have beens. I do think that's true.
I guess for me, I noticed that I I can't
sit with my dreams too long. I got to move on.

(05:22):
I gotta like get started. Once it starts, then it
kind of goes into a snowball effect. Now there's a
great quote by the legendary hockey coach Herb Brooks, risk
something or forever.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
You sit with your dreams. I agree with that. I
think there'd be nothing worse. I can't imagine.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
You know, I'm very lucky that I look back in
my life now, I don't really have any regrets or
any chances that I wish I would have taken. I'm
grateful for that. I think that'd be one of the
worst things you'd have if you settle for good enough
in relationships. Man, is it tough If your relationships feel
more like routines you've fallen into than meaningful connections. You're

(06:00):
playing it safe, whether it's your partner, friends, or family.
If you're just coasting me because it's easier than asking
for more, you've definitely settled. Relationships supposed to challenge you.
You're introduce your new things, not just be another thing
you check off your list. When you stay in relationships
are just okay, you're depriving yourself with something much deeper.
I've been there, and I think that it's it's a

(06:22):
tough spot to be in, you know. Yeah, especially I
think too, if you're used to your relationships are interesting.
I was talking to something about this where it's like
if fit for me, It's like, if the show isn't
doing well, I can always do more show prep. I
can always find more stories or try to find better

(06:42):
call topics. If the hockey team's not doing well, we
can you know, watch game film. We can go to
the gym, we can change practice. However, with relationships, it's
two people involved, so you can't give one hundred and
fifty percent to make up for the other person's one
hundred percent. I've learned that the hard way, and it's

(07:03):
not a fun lesson to learn, and I think it's
been in the past, has been very draining. It's been
very debilitating the word but like draining, it took me
a while to realize it too. It took leaving the
relationship to be like, Okay, I was so exhausted because
I was giving so much to make up for what
they couldn't give. Not that they didn't want to, they

(07:24):
just weren't able to. I do think is there the
best special with the relationships? But yeah, I think sometimes
it's like all right, yeah, I mean, is this the
best relationship?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
No? Could I find better? Yeah? They want to start over.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
No. I do think, like you listen as somebody who's
had to do it several times.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Is it scary? Sure? Absolutely?

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Is there times where a lot of myself and go
I'd rather be in that relationship?

Speaker 1 (07:49):
Probably?

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, But I think at the end of the day,
it's like, yeah, by S wouldn't be happy though, you
know what I mean, So and be happy. If your
job is just a paycheck, they say, job feels like
it's just there to keep the lights on. Doesn't bring
any sense of purpose. You probably selled in a career rut. Now,
I will say, if you have responsibilities, if you have kids,
probably a little bit different. However, I think this is

(08:12):
fair too, and I do think at times, you know,
it's interesting.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
I've told people before who have asked for the advice
about job stuff.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
I've said, if you don't like your job, that's fine,
then just treat it as a job, treat it as
a paycheck, but then use that to fund your actual dream,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Like, to me, it's so worth it.

Speaker 2 (08:31):
If you have the job you don't like, but it
gives you money for a new guitar for your music
or whatever like.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
Something like that, then to me, it's kind of worth it.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Yeah, I mean, but if it's just like it's just
a paycheck and you're doing anything else with it, yeah,
then I think you probably selling no rut. And listen,
we spend, however much of our life working, might as
well do something like you know what I mean, I'll
do the last one. If you keep waiting for the
right time, Yeah, if you're always seeing them make a
big cheege when things sell down when the timing's better,

(09:02):
you're just selling. There's never a perfect time to make
a move, and waiting around for another one is just
an excuse to stay in your comfort zone.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Hot damn. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
I realized this initially a couple of years ago. I
was intoxicated in vacation shopping. Fantastic time to do it,
and I just got to have a relationship. I was like,
I should I should go somewhere, I should go on trip.
So I drunkenly booked a trip to puncha Kanta, and
I think I did it when I was drunk, because

(09:33):
otherwise I've been like, oh, you know, I don't. I
can't afford to miss that many days of work. I
can't afford that money wise. And then that thing drunk me.
I was like, you want to know what, though, They'll
never be a time where I feel like I have
enough time offifacation. They'll also never be a time where
I feel like I have enough money, you know what
I mean. I just kind of took the risk. I've
been doing that a little bit more of that kind

(09:53):
of stuff, but I think that's true. There's never a
perfect time. And god knows what the comedy album is.
November the best time I'm the released album.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
I don't know. We'll find out together, but I just
kind of took the risk. Get a chance. Internsohn Comedy
dot com. Have a great weekend. I'll see them Monday.
