Speaker 1 (00:00):
All right, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show. Heres in
the Bonus with Doug Gottlieb.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
What Up Doug Gottlieb Show. In the Bonus Fox Sports Radio,
iHeartRadio app Welcome in. Well, we almost had chaos in
college football because Ohio State almost lost the home to Nebraska.

Speaker 3 (00:24):
They did not, They survived and advanced.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
One of the great mysteries of life continues to be
one of the great mysteries of life, and that's was
what do you what do you do with Missouri? Missouri's
played two good teams. They were beaten forty one ten
by m and thirty four nothing by Alabama. Meanwhile, they've
beaten everybody else. Let me just make it really really clear.
I'm not an SEC wonk. I'm not I didn't go

(00:48):
to SEC school. You know, there's nothing about me that
says SEC. What I'm gonna tell you now is gonna
hurt your feelings. It's gonna make people think you don't
love your own school. But the reality is, well, the
reality A and M Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, LSU, Alabama. I

(01:09):
you know, obviously Arkansas is playing better Old miss Those
teams are way better than everybody else. They just are
they're better. And I know Old miss lost to Kentucky
and LSU, But when you spend that much more and

(01:31):
you have that much the higher quality of player, it's
like what's changed with Colorado. Colorado is slightly better than
they were last year, but they're in an inferior league.
Last year they were in the PAC twelve. Pac twelve
is awesome. They really struggled this year in the Big twelve.
Big twelve is not awesome, and you know, they lost
a k stayed at home. Outside of that, they haven't
gone beaten and now they've won four games in a row.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Not that hard to figure out.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Last year's Pack twelve was really really loaded, and the
Big twelve schools couldn't play in it last year. Last
couple years, the SEC has been loaded. You know, there's
a couple of Big twelve teams right ever playing it.
But those Big twelve teams now members of the SEC,
and they become middle of the road teams outside of
Texas end of the day feels like, I mean, I'd

(02:15):
have no problem via five SEC teams in there. Outside
of that, you know, you definitely know how the state's
gonna make it but the rest of the field is
not jumping out and she is having multiple bids. And
that's the College twelve playoff look like.

Speaker 1 (02:29):

Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
App Let to get to the Fox Says and now.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Say every day, this time the Doug Got Lip Show
in the Bonus Podcast to play for your portion of
a previous show on Fox Sports Run Fox Sports Radio.
This is Dan Patrick talking about the Commandersquin.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
I had a lot of thoughts about this because it's
one of my pet peeves when you see defensive backs
trying to go for the interception or not knocking the
ball to the ground, and then you've got a defensive
back who's not even part of the play to start with.
He is, you know, Jawn with the fans, Tyreek Stevenson,
he's there, John. They snapped the ball and he's like, oh, okay,

(03:17):
I'll go over there now. In fairness, he did get
his hand on the ball. I would have fired Matt
Eberfluse because there were two things that happened there. The
previous play and Tony Romo did a wonderful job. Romo said,
you know what I would do, Jim. I would do
a ten, twelve thirteen yard out, and then that sets

(03:39):
up the hail Mary, because you can't throw it seventy yards.
Certainly with Jaden Daniels and his rips. I don't know
why you're not having a little bit not press coverage,
but you're at least up there to make it a
little bit more. Force them to make that throw inside,
and then time's going to run out.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Agreed, line that pressure there, you know he doesn't have
time to throw a deep or just knocked the ball down.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
But I actually agree. Here's Colin Kward talking with the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (04:08):
I think the Dallas Cowboys immediately have to consider being
sellers at the deadline. Their schedule gets even harder. It's
time for a rebuild. They do nothing well a rebuild
starting with a kicker.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
I like him.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
He didn't even show up, he had jury duty. He's
still good, like the kicker. But this is a really
bad football team. And the next four games are against
the Falcons and the Eagles and the Texans and the Commanders,
and all of those teams won yesterday, and all those
teams now are playing really good football.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
So off of by.

Speaker 5 (04:43):
Dallas showed a little bit of life in the first half,
but then they went to the second half and the
Cowboys first three second half drives listen to this pick
three and out, three and out and the Niners, with
the better coach making adjustments their first three possessions in
the second half touchdown, touchdown, touchdown. You know the old saying,

(05:09):
if you fool me once, shame on you. If you
fool me twice, shame on me. If you fool all
of us for like twenty nine years, what does that
translate to.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Uh, it's a great point, It's an absolutely great point.
But I don't think the Cowboys are fooling anybody. And look,
I know there's lots of problems with this team, but
they resigned Dak Prescott. Like, all right, why would you
resign Dak Prescott? And I understand it was to create
more money and more openings, you know, for everybody else
to resign, But like, at what point have we decided

(05:46):
that Dak Prescott is just not that good. I've said
this before and I'll say it again that anytime I
ask you about how good Dak Prescott Is and you
talk about his leadership. It's like when I ask about
a girl and how she looks and you say she's
got a great personality.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Here's Brady Clinn talking about the Browns win of the Ravens.

Speaker 6 (06:04):
It's hard on Browns fans.

Speaker 7 (06:06):
Where you watched what's seven weeks of football with Shaun Watson,
Jameis Winston comes in in one game and looks remarkably better,
and you think to yourself, this is what this team
could have been this year, and imagine the cap savings,
imagine what else you could have done around the roster.
As I said before, you know, watching the Kansas City

(06:28):
Raiders game in Las Vegas Raiders game, I was eating
to myself, what the hell once you missed in the drafted?

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Some not trade for Jamis.

Speaker 7 (06:36):
I just I look at some of these organizations and
the decisions that they make, and go. You've got a
guy who's led the league in yards at one point,
has proven to be capable of a leader, has played
well in different stints, whether it's Tampa or New Orleans.
And we're watching other quarterbacks like Sam Darnold go somewhere
else and have success. Baker Mayfield goes somewhere else and

(06:58):
have success and not think the same damn thing with
Jameis Winston. The saddest thing is that Browns fans are
probably gonna watch the team that looks much better with
Jamis Winston as a starting quarterback than what we saw
with Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
And I know it's just a one game sample.

Speaker 7 (07:15):
Size, but that was an example of a player who
played better than probably any game at any point that
Deshawn's played with the Browns Jersey on.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
I actually really agree with Brady. It's been a thought
that I've had for a long long time. You know,
it's like the you look at Baker, you look at
Geno Smith, and again there's a ceiling there to all
those guys. But I still can't believe why people take
gambles on guys that don't rate out that well. Where
Jameis Winston was the number one pick in the draft,
he won national championship.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
He's had some good years.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yes, he had a lot of turnover problems, but he's
a beloved dude who can win football games. And I'm
stunned at and other people not giving him, not giving
him him a chance. Now he's got his chance. That's
what the Fox said.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
Say.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Doug Gottlieb
Show weekdays at three pm Eastern noon Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
Let's find out who or what is annoying Jason Stewart,
and now it's your.

Speaker 6 (08:26):
Annoying, Doug. I just have one thing. So we're parents, right,
we're parents, and you're a coach. So you've had many
of these moments. Okay, your player does something stupid and

(08:46):
you pull them aside, or you pull your son aside
and say why did you do that to me? Why
is the powerful question because it kind of makes them
think of just how stupid it is. Because whatever reason
they give is going to be superficial, it's going to

(09:06):
be inconsequential, it's going to be something that makes them
actually reflect on it. So for all those out there
that are just starting out parenting and coaching, ask why,
because it forces the kid player to think about what
they did. Tyreek Stevenson addressed reporters today in a zoom call.

(09:30):
We heard it on the radio show. We talked about
it at length, but this is what he said. Tyreek Stevenson.
Now is the defensive back for the Bears. That was
on that viral video of him taunting fans or doing
whatever the hell he was trying to do while the
play was already going. And he's the one who essentially
looks like assisted on the tip to Noah Brown. Now,

(09:54):
Matt Ibrafuse today said that it was his, Tyreek Stevens's
job to buy out Noah Brown in the end zone
on that play. Anyway, this is Tyreek Stevenson today.

Speaker 8 (10:06):
I don't you regret I have from yesterday is just
letting this team down from working hard and coming back
and putting us putting ourselves on the w column and
you know, just for me to be out of place
and do something that's out of character of me and
just you know.

Speaker 6 (10:19):
Cost us a loss.

Speaker 8 (10:20):
The play was opposed, a box out eighty five had
to be out of the play wash, you know, cheering on,
just cheering with some Bears fans went taughting, no fans,
was just sharing with some Bears fans, and the Washington
fans reacted how they wanted to. My job was to
box out eighty five. And you know when I went
up to hit the balls pretty much to knock it
down interceptions and you know, especially in the close game

(10:43):
like that, so just trying to make it, make a
play for my team. And you know, they either could
have went, oh, Tyreek, you good pass, knock down or
we're in the situation we're in right now.

Speaker 6 (10:53):
So the question, Doug is why why was he just
sturing towards the fans and dancing what?

Speaker 2 (11:02):
Because he was he was doing what football players think
they're supposed to do. Right It's like the old how
many first downs? Back when Miami was the you did
they always point to.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
The first down? You know what.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
We've seen this before, and yeah, it's honestly just a
lack of personal self discipline, that's it. You know, they
can yell whatever they want their fans, who cares. But
when you let it affect you, that's when soon you'll
be joining them, I would.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
You know.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
It's one of those lessons it's hard to learn because
he's kind of the laughing stock of football today, rightfully so,
but you know you should only learn it once.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
I've never seen that.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
By the way, Paul snapped and you're still celebrating a
previous play with time on the clock.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
That's crazy crazy, there's and again I'm sure every generations
complained about the previous generation in this regard. I can't
relate to it on any level. I just can't relate
to it. You are paid a hell salary to make
plays on the football field. I just don't. I don't
see any excuses, and I want somebody to just pull

(12:07):
him a sign bick why did you do that? And
then I want someone to pull Kyle Pitts aside and
say why did you do that? Kyle Pitts, for those
who don't know, tied end for the Falcons, has been
a miserable letdown ever since he was drafted. I remember
during the draft and after the draft he there are
people that were saying that he's going to change the
tight end position. Kyle Pitts is an amazing athlete who

(12:31):
has just been a horrible NFL player, and all fantasy
owners know that. I think he got into the end
zone twice yesterday, but he almost didn't get into the
end zone when cameras caught him doing one of those
drop the ball things at the goal line. But the
thing is, he wasn't like on his own dropping the ball.

(12:53):
He was actually being defended and had a defender running
him down and he dropped the ball. The replay, if
you look at his ale, shows that the defender did
indeed slap the ball away from him before he crossed
the goal line. If the call on the field wasn't
a touchdown and they needed obvious evidence to overturn, they

(13:15):
would have given that ball to the other team. And again,
I want to ask Kyle Pitts, why did you do that?

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Yeah, I don't I don't even know. Uh, Yeah, Kyle
Pitts is one of those It's like, at the end
of the day, if you're going to be a tight end,
you still got a block and he doesn't. So he's
just a big wide receiver that doesn't really have wiggle
in his hips, nor does he block, and he has
to play.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
You know.

Speaker 2 (13:37):
It's like, but that that's not the point. I don't
understand dropping the ball at the goal line or before
the goal line. I will never understand it. It happens
every year, and every year we make fun of the
guy who does it, and I don't understand why it's
not getting better.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
So, uh, the SoundBite of the twenty and twenty three
season made no sense, but Gino Smith kind of got
away with it. Remember he was asked something and he said,
what was his whole thing about? Something called me? And
I never called back something. I forget the exact phrase, anyone, Sam,
Big Mike? What was the Geno Smith line? Anyways? I

(14:14):
remember he said it, and then everyone loved it. Everyone
loved the line. And then once you break down the sentence,
it didn't make any sense. I have it? What is it?
They wrote me off? I ain't right back though?

Speaker 3 (14:26):
They wrote me off, I ain't right back though.

Speaker 6 (14:28):
Yeah, if you think about it, that makes no sense.
But it was. It was seen as charming and it
was a great comeback story, and everyone gave him a
pass on it not making sense. Well, Jamis Winson offered
us one yesterday if this whole Tyreek Stevenson thing doesn't happen.
I think Jamis Winston is like the star of yesterday.
This was the viral video until the Tyreek Stevenson video.

(14:49):
This is Jameis Winston after he leads the Browns to
a win over the Ravens in the after the game interview.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
It's not often that you get another opportunity like you
have just received in the NFL.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
What does it mean to lead these guys?

Speaker 2 (15:05):
And what could be the start of what you said
is something special moving forward.

Speaker 9 (15:09):
Man, there's a there's a white boy from Detroit that
I really he said, you only get one shot, do
not miss a chance to blow the opportunity to last
once in a lifetime.

Speaker 6 (15:22):
So if I mean, everyone loved that, Everyone loved the
fact that he was quoting eminem But what's the stuff
that I can think about it? She mentions to him,
it's not often that people get a second chance. I
think he's gotten the third chance. This is the Saints
for the second chance. This is the third chance.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
Yes, but but you have to have you seen eight mile.

Speaker 6 (15:44):
I've seen eight mile.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
It was the wrong No, No, he's quoting it right.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
But one of the contradictions of that song with eight
mile is he actually spit up. He actually threw up
because he's nervous the first time. So it's like, you
only get one shot, but it was actually a second shot.
So I'm going to give him a pass. I would
give a pass on it only because Eminem in when

(16:11):
he's playing b Rabbit, it's actually a second chance.

Speaker 6 (16:15):
Wow, So you're telling me the Jamis Winson went very
nuanced on us, and I don't know. It's the same
contradiction that the movie portrait.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
I don't know if he went that nuanced on purpose. Yeah,
but Jameis Winson is one of those guys to where
where like you kind of take the spirit of what
he says because he always he always gives these impassionate speeches.
You're like, what's going on with his use of the
Everybody likes Jamis. If you go football team, football team,

(16:47):
football team, the guys that play them, like, dude, Jamis
is the best.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
It's the best.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
But he does his syntax gets all strewed up, and
you just got to take the spirit of it.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
You know.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
It's like, was it was it over win the Germans.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
I was just thinking that Doug he is Blueto from
Animal House.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
He's blue. Doh, he's blue.

Speaker 6 (17:08):
Oh, just forget it. He's rolling.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
He's not a roll. Don't stop him.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
And I do need to I do need to point
it out that he he gave credit first and foremost
to the.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Lord, Lord, Good, God, Lord and God.

Speaker 6 (17:20):
The problem is that Jade and Daniels did the same
thing three hours later, So how how could God have
been different?

Speaker 2 (17:29):
God's got three different windows. He's got the one o'clock window, right,
he's got the four o'clock window. It's got Sunday night football.
And then you know all those guys that enter the portal,
it's God's plan. God has a big plan for all
these guys.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
That are the portal.

Speaker 6 (17:44):
And then so the b by the way.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
You want to talk about things that don't make sense?
Have you ever looked at the words for God's plan?
Which is a Drake song.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
I don't think I've studied those words. I think it's
a good beat.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
It's a very good beat. It's a cool vid where
he walks around Miami giving away money. But it makes
zero sense in terms of God's plan. Okay, don't get
me Just thing blue though, and he's on a roll.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
Okay, and don't get me started on isn't it ironic?
By what's her face? None of her example morse contradictions,
or or things that are our coincidences on your wedding day? Okay,
so rain on your wedding day?

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Isn't it ironic?

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Just sucks? That just sucks.

Speaker 3 (18:38):
I don't know why it's ironic.

Speaker 6 (18:39):
Sho Heo Tani decided to steal a base in the
bottom of the eighth an. He with two outs and
he dislocated his shoulder just sliding. He just dislocated his shoulder.
So I have a long theory on a tawny, but
this is the short version. There's a reason why he
became the first baseball player to ever steal fifty bases

(19:00):
and hit fifty home runs because he wasn't pitching. I
think this is my theory on Atani. And I remember
telling you this when he was on the Angels. He
has such a sense of duty that he is going
to give you every single dollar back that he earns.
I like that this past year, nobody expected him to

(19:23):
steal bases. I think he had never stolen more than
twenty two bases. But because he wasn't pitching, I think
he felt compelled to do something else. It's like, I
just can't sit here in the dugout and hit four
times a night. I'm gonna steal bases. I'm gonna just
I mean, he's such a good baseball player that he
became the first to ever do it. But I think
it's that sense of duty. He has had a dog

(19:46):
shit World Series. I think he was one for eight
with a wine drive off the right field wall. That
was that was something. But he's one for eight. He
was oer for that game, and he walks in the
eighth inn and that sense of duty I have to
do something extra almost cost us the series. If he's

(20:08):
fine and everything like that. If he's fine, that's fine,
But there was no need to steal that base, no
need to put yourself in harm's way. The Dodgers don't
pay you to steal bases. They pay you to stand
at home plate and drive in runs. And it was
just so infuriating to me as we're sitting there with
a four to one lead. Just get to the next

(20:30):
inning and let's get three outs. And he basically made
everyone's heart stop at the stadium. And I don't know
how good he is. I don't know. I have no
idea what this dislocated shoulder is or does, or if
you need surgery on it after the season or something.
But it was just a dipshit move that I know
he did just out of this fucking sense of duty.

(20:52):
I wasn't doing I wasn't contributing to this team. People.
What's gonna forever be lost in the Freddie Freeman home run?
Is it? Shao Atawani was up with the time run
at second base, and he popped out with a completely
uncompetitive swing, a disgusting swing where he just flailed at
the ball and the left fielder made a great play

(21:14):
in left field. But that's the ninth inning of a
World Series game and you're doing this temphony. I'm sorry. Anyways,
that's annoying.

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Completely agree, completely agree. Anything else? Anybody else annoyed by
anything else?

Speaker 6 (21:28):
That's it.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
I'm annoyed by something. I'm annoyed by John Smoltz talking
about hitting, you know, like you can talk in general
sense about hitting. He is as technical as you can
be about pitching, and rightfully so. But as you know,
I was with some ballplayers watching the World Series and
they're like, what is he doing?

Speaker 3 (21:54):
What is he doing? That is me talking about free
throw shooting? What is he doing? I had one more
that was annoying.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
The interesting part about that is, what's the solution other
than putting a third man in the booth? You know,
like he's got to address half the game, you know, yeah.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Yeah, I think you can do so more in grand
terms than specific you know, knowledge and acting like you
know what a guy is supposed to be doing in
terms of his approach. Oh hey, Sports Illustrated has their
rankings of all Division one men's college basketball teams. I
believe my team's ranked two hundred and fifty second, and

(22:37):
the blurb next to it is the most I don't
know is bizarre or interesting? Higher is me because I'm
still doing my show on Fox Sports Radio, and my
thing is like that happened five months ago, and I
like the guy who wrote it. I like I know
a little bit. But all you have to do is

(22:58):
call or call anybody. We've played exhibition game so far
with a secret scrimmage, and without going into details, you
could ask like, does he look like he's not what
he knows what he's doing maybe I don't know right,
or or focus on one of the players. It just
seems really weird, like this was this happened five months ago, and.

Speaker 3 (23:14):
That's the story you're covering. Who's the most annoying? What
are my choices?

Speaker 9 (23:20):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (23:20):
The Tyrek Stevenson thing, Shahio Tawny, Jamis Winston and then
your guy Kevin what's his face? Kevin Sweeney who wrote
the article, and John.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
Smaltz, Tyrek Stevenson, I mean Tyry Stevenson just celebrating while
of play. Not only there's another play, but the play
has already started, then deflecting a ball that ends up
costing his team the game.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
I can't think of anybody on Earth more annoying.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Why are we doing this?

Speaker 6 (23:54):
Because we can? Hey, Doug, Fox Sports had a rough
weekend with hot mics. I captured each of these. This
is the first one in the Packers Jaguars game broadcasting.
I think it's what's his face? Uh, Jonathan Vilma and
who is the brother of Marv Albert.

Speaker 3 (24:17):
Kenny there it is.

Speaker 5 (24:19):
I'm up to the ground, but all around and groups.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
With your heir you.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
And that that is awesome.

Speaker 6 (24:36):
Not to be outdone. This was on the Bucks Falcons broadcast.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Fucking count show Pressure.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
That's insane, clear as day.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
Seaward got out there, Seaword.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Why can they play it for you? Because we can.
That's for the end of Modus podcast.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
Check out the radio show every day three to five
