Speaker 1 (00:01):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Boom, and there's John
Ramos on this hump day. On these days of the
year right now, more more daylight than ever before, right,
I mean, was it yesterday or today? Anyway, we hope
to bring some daylight to your life because we're worth
you for the next three hours getting you set for
an NBA draft that is tomorrow. And and just quickly

(00:24):
at the top. The NBA Draft just such a different
feel nowadays that then I remember it and just so
we're gonna dive in it. Just it's on the eve
of the draft. It's just the there's just a it's
a different field that I just remember growing up. Um. Yeah,
because you can't pronounce half the guy's name. That's that.
I think that's that's part of the reason. Also, by
the way, it is hump day, Dan, as you mentioned,
which means every hump day, John Ramos smokes a pack

(00:48):
of camels in the studio. All right, all right, can
we open the door to the studio to get that gorgeous,
beautiful fresh air. I just checked my first puff, guys,
and it's talk it out, man. And the reason it's
unique is because John usually smokes pall malls with no
filter on the six other days. So today it's just

(01:09):
a little different with the Camels. Is John Ramos is
here and that means there's gonna be a John Ramo show.
We can't pronounce the name of Kawai Leonard and the
Spurs forward is in the news day in and day
out because of his status heading into the NFL or
the NBA off season of is he gonna be a
San Antonio Spur? Is he going to be dealt? Well,

(01:31):
we do know this. Kauai Leonard reportedly met with Gregg
Popovich last night in San Diego and now there is
even more talk Jonas about Kauai Leonard and is possibly
leaving the Spurs organization after this meeting. How bad is
this whole situation? Like how bad does it have to be?
Because I was thinking about this earlier. Gregg Popovitch just

(01:53):
lost his wife. He missed the last part of the
playoffs because his wife died. And why Leonard you would
think would maybe have some sort of not not that
it's totally tied to it, but at least some sort
of a well, you know, he was pretty hard on
me this year, but clearly there was something else going on.
You know, maybe we shouldn't just get away from this

(02:15):
organization altogether. They were dealing with serious things, a serious situation,
And now that I know that, it kind of puts
into perspective what's happening there, and you kind of start
to understand what's really going on. The fact that he
still wants nothing to do with that organization from everything
we've seen and everything Popovich has been through just tells
me that this was either severed instantly when players started

(02:38):
calling him out like Tony Uh, Tony Parker and Mono Genobil,
or he was already leaning this way to begin it with,
and it was just tilting over the edge. And so
sometimes not that this isn't real life because it's Kawhi
Leonard's job and the same thing with the San Antonio Spurs,
but sometimes real life ends up intervening and you realize
what what you had and you're maybe drawn back to

(03:00):
something with this situation that unfortunately Greg Popovich had to
go through. So I get what you're saying in that
in that situation there, that this is you know, not
even something like that can be you know, put into
the equation that there there seems to be so much friction.
I think now after everything that we've heard over the
last couple of weeks and even the last couple of months,
considering Boston apparently made an offer to the San Antonio Spurs.

(03:22):
The reason I think that the meeting was big last night, Jonas,
is because I feel that the Spurs now have a
full understanding of what they need to do, because I
don't think they evergot it because you're in season, you're
still trying to win basketball games. The players are around,
and there seemed to be no direct connection or contact

(03:43):
between Kauai and the Spurs. And we saw as recently
as last offseason that LaMarcus Aldridge wanted out of San Antonio.
So what ended up happening. Gregg Popovich had a meeting
with with LaMarcus aldred sat down and said, you know what,
I need to maybe change some things to allow all
Dredge to flourish in our sister And yeah, he did
and it worked out. And now I think that these

(04:05):
Spurs know exactly with this meeting with Kawhi Leonard about
what they want to do. They either know that he's
gonna be back and maybe there's something that they can
do on their and to alter things or know that
there's no way that this thing is going to be repaired.
So we've got to figure out our our best deal
so now. And I know Chris Mannix reported who you
can hear Chris with Karen Butler Sundays at New Eastern

(04:26):
here in Fox Sports Radio, saying that multiple teams have
checked in on Kauai and while they're not shopping him,
they are now listening to offers or they would listen
to an offer it if it was good enough. That's
a little different story than we heard with February with
the Celtics, you know, reaching out and the Spurs not
wanting to do anything. If the Spurs are listening, then

(04:46):
I think the Spurs are getting ready to do something.
I know Ramona Chelburn had a story that went up
last night and said they're not inclined to trade him,
but if you'd like to pass along an offer, you
can go right ahead. So, uh listen, I'm not really
I'm not really interested in uh in hitting the open market. Dan,
you know, I currently have a girlfriend, But if you
wanted to hit on me, I mean maybe you know

(05:08):
who knows she may piss me off on my way
there and hang up on me, and that gives me
a reason to cheat, Like this is this appears to
be Gregg Popovich, and it's no coincidence that it's happening
before the draft so they can figure out if a
draft uh, if a draft day trade is possible with
picks involved and whatnot. But yeah, two years in a
row man LaMarcus Aldrich. He was able to save it

(05:29):
last minute. But it just it makes me wonder whose
fault this is, Not that there has to be somebody's fault,
but it does make me wonder where did this all
go wrong. I know people are gonna say that Popovich
is the constant in the two situations, but I just
I don't think that he is. I don't think he's
the problem. And while Coli may not have been happy

(05:52):
with the way that Hapovich ended up dealing with his
injury in the first place, or how the Spurs did
handle the injury and then how they dealt with into
the media, maybe Kauai wasn't happy. Well we know Kauaii
reporter wasn't happy with what Tony Parker Amanu Ginoboli had
to say. But this is the way that this is
the way that the Spurs have have done it, and
this is the way and and I just look at

(06:12):
I look at their their long track of success of
the twenty plus years, and if Kauai Leonard is the outlier,
no matter how great is talent is, it seems to
me that Kauai Leonard is the problem. And it's not
a Greg Popovitch problem. I I put this all on
Kauai and him wanting to play somewhere else and him
wanting I don't I know, they may not have been

(06:35):
happy with how they wanted to treat the injury, but man,
the Spurs have gone through this rodeo before, and so
that's why I just think that Kauai Leonard is to
blame in all of this and not Greg Popovitch. It's
a similar situation in New England when Malcolm Butler, that
whole incident happened at the Super Bowl where they didn't
play him and nobody could figure it out, and it
was almost like everybody afterwards was siding with Malcolm Butler.

(06:57):
Belichick really screwed this one up. Belich, I really butchered this.
And I'm thinking, hold on a second, this is a
guy who routinely has made the right decision over and
over and over throughout his coaching career. Historically, maybe nobody's
made better decisions personnel wise as a head coach and
anybody in the history of the NFL. But this time

(07:20):
he screwed it off. Like it just it seems a
little far fetched. So I do. I do think that
to your point, Kawhi Leonards seemingly and he does appear
to be very sensitive. Um, if you can tolerate that,
that that's fine, but he does appear to be very
sensitive here. I will also think that Greg Popovich has

(07:41):
done it his way and this way for so long
that maybe we've got to look at this, take a
step back and look big picture and go this is
the first time that he's really had to deal with
an in his prime superstar who's got legitimate options outside
of just San Antonio. I mean, Tony Parker and Mono

(08:01):
Genoble and Tim Duncan were so loyal to Popovich that
they weren't going to go anywhere, so he's never really
had to deal with that. And now, in back to
back cases after they were able to land Lad Marcus
Alt which he's now got another in his prime superstar
who maybe wants to sort of navigate other waters and
go around. And I wonder if he's just not used
to having to deal with this, because he's used to

(08:22):
guys that are so loyal and veteran players that no
matter what, we're always going to stick around. Yeah. Yeah,
And I know, like if you, if you're Greg Popovitch
and you think of this is the way that we've
done it, some may say and that you're looking at
Greg and it's a new NBA, this is this is

(08:42):
the different type of dapt die. I just don't. I
don't believe that, especially from a guy who has been
with USA basketball, who is who is It's this isn't
the first star that he's had to coach. How many
stars of the n b A has Greg Popovich come
in contact with? How many stars in the NBA have
said that they wanted to play for Greg Popovitch. I mean,

(09:03):
we're putting Lebron James in San Antonio not because of
the stupid riverwalk, but it's only an option because Gregg
Popovitch is there. So that's why I don't think like
this is this is a Kauai issue. This is a
Kauai getting his feeling shurt, not liking this and not
like leaving that. And you said because of the leverage
of a superstar with his contract coming near an end,

(09:23):
he's in a situation that no other player has been.
But that again is on Kauai. That's not on how
Greg Papovitch has done things. Kauai has been in their
system long enough anyway to know how things have gone
enough now things are starting to change. That seems to
me like a Kauai problem. Just because the Spurs aren't
as great as they once were and aren't dominating the
Western Conference like they did for so long, doesn't mean

(09:45):
that the game has pass Gregg Popovitch bayer that the
Papovitch is wrong. This is on Kauai. Leonard shoulders for
how he responded and where he wants to go now.
And there is something to his teammates calling him out
in public though there and where did that directive come from?
And had to have come from Popovitch. I don't think
that that Genoble and Tony Parker would go rogue and
just start calling out I'll say this, if you're monta

(10:08):
Genoble and you don't know from year to year and
when you're gonna play next if you're the same thing
with Parker, how many years they have left. I don't
want the best player on the team to play knowing like, hey,
I may not win another championship, I may not get back.
We need this guy. I don't think Gregg Popovich has
to go to Tony Parker, Romano Genoboly. I think those
guys are saying, hey, this could be my last rodeo.

(10:28):
I'd love it if our best player was here and
not sitting out for his own interest in instead of
being the team because I've got my interest. I'd love
to get back to an NBA finals or Western Conference finals.
I think Parker and Manu said it themselves just because
of because of their stature as well. They I mean,
they're such a fixture of the organization and they've got
some they've got some money in the game as well
of wanting to get a title. So I don't think

(10:49):
pop urged them to say it. I think those guys,
just because of who they are, spoke out about about Kauai.
I have to ask you something because you made a
comment there and uh, and I know everybody else heard it,
and everybody was stunned at just the comment you made
were you pretty much took a shot at Riverwalk. You
took a shot at the river Walk. So Dan, here
we go again. I mean, I've got to ask the question, Um,
what do you like more? Okay, the River Rock, the

(11:12):
River Walk in San Antonio or Ted Bundy like the
River Walk bar. But I'm going to the fer to
our executive producer, Ryan Music, and I want to bring
Ryan in on this, Jonas just for the simple fact
of Brian, I believe your first trip to San Antonio
was at the Final four this past year? Is that correct?

(11:32):
And what was your what were your thoughts leaving the
city of San Antonio? Uh, what were your thoughts entering
going to San Antonio were? What were you expecting from? People?
Spoke very highly of the River Walk, as if it
was the most magnificent place you can can our adventure land,

(11:54):
Like you can't do the Riverwalk in a day? Oh no,
like it's a jungle cruise or something. You realize you
do the Riverwalk in an hour, oh yeah, and for
thirty minutes you throw in the Alamo and that's pretty
much it. That is what San Antonio is. I hate
to say it, but that is what it is. Yeah,
it's it's it's ninety min it's a fun and then
you're done. Right, that's very well said. Day. Yeah, it's true,

(12:19):
all right, I just did just to spit in the
face of greats like Sean Elliott and and Bruce Bowen.
Just unbelievable. It's a it's a great city. But to
sit there and think, it's like when the NBA on
TNT shows Santa Monica Pier when the Lakers play, which
first of all, isn't even close to Stable Center, it's,

(12:40):
you know, ten miles down the ten. The other thing
is that I used to live kind of by the pier.
Um they have a crappy amusement park and a restaurant
where birds can poop on you. And that's pretty much
what you get at the Santa Monica Pier and a
Bubba Gumps. It is not like this destination. And by
the way, Malibu sucks all right. Parts of Malibu are
a dive, A smell terrible. It's like it's like swimming

(13:02):
in a Koi pond smells like crap. Beautiful seta Monica
Pier not if you're there, really, to be honest, the
water is nice, but you should maybe go to other places.

We're checking out what's happening in the NBA drafted so
much more A good friend from NBA TV and ninety
two point nine the game in Atlanta. Rick Camelin joins
us a day before the selection process. Hello, Rick, Dana Jonahs,
Happy NBA draft Eve. You guys excited as excited as

(14:31):
I am. And we had a we had a trade
right when I woke up this morning. Gosh, Dwight hard
and now a member of the Brooklyn Nets. How about
there will be I guess come July six. But um, yeah,
quite quite a career arc for Dwight Howard. Yeah, I
mean it's it's. Look when Atlanta traded him to Charlotte
for like Bell and Elly and you know all this,

(14:53):
it was like, whoa, Dwight Howard's trade value has plummeted
that much? Yep, And it's plummeted even far of their
uh team of a mascot who I don't believe has
appeared in a game, uh since his days in Cleveland?
Did he even play with the Lakers? Was shipped to
Brooklyn and the D'Angelo Russell trade. Now he shipped to Charlotte.
He's got one of the worst contracts in the NBA.

(15:14):
But what Brooklyn has done, They've freed up a lot
of money in twenties. They're gonna have two MAX slots available. Uh,
you know, two entice big time players if they want
to go play for the Brooklyn Nets. And uh, it's
just an indication that Dwight Howard has virtually no trade
value left in the NBA. Rick hand l NBA TV
with us here on Fox Sports Radio, Dan Buyer Jonas

(15:36):
Knox in for Doug gottlieb Rick best guess. How does
this Kawhi Leonard situation pan out? Um? I think he
goes to, uh, to the team that is going to
present the Spurs with the best package. I think the
team that if they want Kawhi Leonard could present the
Spurs with the best packages the Boston Celtics. And that
doesn't meet Kawhi leonards goals of going to l A

(15:58):
as we've heard the reports on and he favors the
Lakers more than the Clippers. I get that. Gregg Popovitch
gets that. Our CBU for the the GM of the
Spurs gets that. But if I'm the Spurs and you
just took your ball and went home, and it's all
about you and your people in your camp, and it's
all about this this quad injury that didn't even require surgery,
keeping you out the whole season. Why am I gonna

(16:19):
do right by you? You just completely left me hanging
out to dry ruined you know, I didn't see the
Spurs go on that far, but ruined the playoff run.
Why am I gonna do right by you? I'm doing
right by me. I'm gonna send you to the team
that sends me the best package back. Uh. And I
think that's gonna be the Boston Celtics. Um. And And guys,
I haven't analyzed it to the point of it'll be
exactly this guy, this guy, and this guy. But it

(16:41):
could be you know, Hayward Rosier and a pick. It
could be Marcus Smart, Rosier and Jalen Brown. Um, you
could go on and on and on. We all love
and a door, the young talented pieces on that Boston
roster and what it would do if they swing a
deal with Boston again, if Danny Angel and the Celtics
want to do it. Um, if you get say Rosier

(17:01):
and Smart and Jalen Brown and then made that asking
price may be too high. But if you get that
in San Antonio doesn't have to bottom ount and rebuild
that they would still be a legitimate team with those guys.
Rick Cavil of NBA TV joining us here on Fox
Sports Radio, He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer and for
Doug gottlie Today on The Doug Gottlieb Show, we were
just discussing blame because we were talking about do you

(17:23):
blame the Spurs? Do you blame Tony Parker mount of
Genoble and Gregg Papovich er, do you blame Kawhi Leonard
for how this played out? Who do you put the
blame on? As this situation stands where it is great question.
I blame it on Kawhi Leonard and I blame it
on Kawhi Leonard's people. I blame it on the agent
change that Kawhi Leonard made. I am familiar with his

(17:44):
previous agent. I'll be honest, I'm more than familiar. I'm
a buddy of his. But this has nothing to do
with some allegiance and some bias. But I have I
think that his previous agent um had him round, It
had him centered on what matters in life and that's
working your butt off and making money and in games.
I think this new agent has Kauai thinking about other
stuff and in getting up in his feelings and having

(18:06):
to be more about him rather than it being more
about the Spurs or the team that he is on.
Uh So, so I think that's an issue. I think
the people around Kawhi Leonard are giving him bad advice.
Um And I think Kawhi Leonard is an influenceable guy.
I think he is willing to listen to some people
who maybe have a louder voice than him and follow
that direction. Um. I put one of the blame on
Kawhi Leonard and his people, zero percent of the blame

(18:29):
on the Spurs. So, you know, because it almost felt
to me and Rick ham Lamba TV with this year
on Fox Sports Radio, but it almost felt like this
is the first time like Popovich's guys Genoblee Parker, Tim
Duncan are so loyal that I don't think Papovich has
ever had to really deal with this sort of divan
iss for lack of a better term. So do you

(18:51):
think there's any blame at all in Papovich having those
guys call out Kauai Leonard about the injury and what
went on last year like Tony Parker and did well.
Another great question. I don't think Pop had those ballplayers
do anything. I think Tony Parker was asked a question,
and Tony Parker answered a question. And Tony Parker and
a quad injury. You guys remember that was devastating and significant.

(19:14):
I believe the tendon ripped from the bone all that
kind of stuff. Uh. Kawhi Leonard never had to have surgery, Okay,
and uh, And it's just unconscionable for a pro ballplayer
as good as Kawhi Leonard is well conditioned as Kawhi
Leonard to miss an entire season with a quad injury
that did not require surgery. So I think that's what
bothered Tony Parker, probably bothered a lot of the the
grizzled championship vets on that team. Um and and so

(19:38):
I think that's what's up with that. In terms of
the Gregg Popovich, you know, did he want him to
return from injury. I think I probably said this on
your show. I'll say it again. There's no coach in
the NBA that is more cautious and conservative with the
health of his players than Greg Popovitch. None, not one.
He always differs and errors on the side of keeping
a guy out too long to make sure he's totally

(19:58):
right when he comes back. So does a bogus take
a bogus narrative if you if it ever comes up.
Rick Hambla joining us here on Fox Sports Radio talking
Kawhi Leonard of the Spurs and also talking NBA Draft.
One name intrigues you the most tomorrow. I don't mean
to make it such a general question, but we know
Trey Young from college basketball. But Trey Young is in

(20:20):
there amongst a bunch of other names, like a Marvin
Bagley who we know from Duke, and a Mo Bamba
from Texas. The most intriguing name that we're gonna see
picked early tomorrow. Who do you think it is? Mo Bamba? Um?
Because more Bamba was unable to well and he wasn't
ready for prime time with Texas. His offensive game was
really limited. He showed a willingness to shoot, which I liked,

(20:41):
but the shot wasn't there. Now the shot is there.
I don't know if you guys have seen the video.
Go to my personal Twitter account at NBA TV. Rick Uh,
you know there's a lot of stuff out there, but
scroll down and you will see a recent video put
out by UH by Mo Bamba's people, and get it
like there's no defense being played. He's loaning the gym.
I get all that kind of stuff. What I want
you to focus on is the goose neck, the release

(21:04):
the guys seven one with a seven ten wings fan.
He is a freak of nature when it comes to
athleticism and just his body type. And if you add
a legitimate um hinge goose neck jump shot to that,
we could be talking about the second coming of Joel Embiid.
I think you know the reports are that the Hawks
are kind of locked in on Luca don Chech at
number three. I don't agree with that. I would be

(21:25):
taking Mobamba at number three if I were the Hawks,
assuming according to the reports that the Kings are kind
of locked in on Marvin Bagley, Rick Campbell NBA TV
with us here on Fox Sports Radio. Last one for me, Rick,
people you've talked to UH, you're pretty connected. What's the
latest on Lebron James? Does anybody have a have a
lead in the Lebron sweepstakes? Does he stay in Cleveland?

(21:45):
What are you hearing. I mean, I've gotta be careful
about this because I I don't know what's up. I'll
just give you my opinion, um, and and my my
hot take of the day. Uh and it's it's not
a hot take at all. I mean, it's sort of
been out there in the universe and the ethers for
a couple of years now, and it's Lebron James going
to the Purple and Gold to play for Magic Johnson

(22:06):
and the Lakers. No guarantees, no promises. That's the way
I'm feeling right now. And now that dots are starting
to connect, right you have Chris Paul saying that that
Lebron isn't really feeling Houston, that he prefers to go
to l A Well, last I checked, Chris Paul and
Lebron James are great friends, dear friends, brothers from another mother.

(22:26):
Uh So I think that's another pretty good indication. I mean,
I really think that the Laker fans should be should
be pretty excited about the possibility of Lebron coming there. Um.
I don't want to use words like likely or probably. Um,
it's still all up in the air. But but that's
my take right now. I think Lebron James maybe going
to l A. You know, it's amazing. I think back
to when Brett Farve and the Packers were having a standoff,

(22:48):
and I'll just wrap up with this, where there were
there was news coming from the Packers side of things,
the team side of things, and then there were news
coming from five side. So the agents and the team
using insiders sports media for their own purpose. That's what
I'm doing with Lebron now, and I'm doing with Paul George.
Like when I hear Paul George may stick around with
the Oklahoma City Thunder. Now, I'm just trying to vet, okay,

(23:11):
who's reporting what, because I think that's the actually only
way that we can kind of just get a feel
of what's happening. I think that those who say that
Lebron is going to go back to Cleveland may just
be the people who have the calves most interest. I
don't know what you guys, are you viewing it, but
that's how I'm starting to I'm with you. I'm you know,
I need to know the source of well, you know,

(23:32):
people put out reports pera source blankety blankety blank, and
they don't say who that source actually is. Because they can't.
You gotta protect your source. But what you but you
can consider where it's from, Like if somebody from Cavaliers
dot com, what's kind of report that Lebron games? You
know what I'm saying? Yeah, exactly, Yeah, you know I
so I totally agree with you on that. And in
terms of Paul George and the okay see thing. Um,

(23:55):
you know I I don't have a good read on that.
I you know it. It has kind of seemed like
the writings on the wall that that would be a
one and done year for him there, um, and that
still could be the case. He could come back on
a one plus one, as has been reported. Who knows, man.
That's uh, that's why we're all gonna have our popcorn
sit down on July one. Wait to see where these
guys make agreements to go. It should be amazing. You

(24:16):
can see him on NBA TV. Draft is tomorrow. Here
him in Atlanta the game, Rick Camela. Find him on
Twitter at NBA TV. Rec appreciate it, right, We'll talk
to you soon. Al Right, guys, enjoy the draft piece. Uh.
Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb here Fox
Sports Radio coming up next. So the NFL has merged
into another major storyline in sports. Find out what we

(24:38):
mean next here on FSR. But for all the latest
from around the world of sports. You just go ahead
and you sit on back. You recline the chair, You
recline that car. See pull over to the side of
the road. Tell everybody to go and speed by and
leave you alone. And anybody in the car that's making noise,
you tell them to shut their mouths. Because Steve Disaker's
here at the latest. It sounds like one afternoon nap

(24:58):
coming up fun Fox TV. That World Cup Spain dominating around,
but it's only one nothing in the seventy third minute,
and Iran recently had a goal disallowed by video review.
Uruguaya one nothing went over Saudi Arabia, so Uruguaya two
and oh will advance to the next round, as does
host Russia. No. Portugal got an early goal from Christiano
Ronaldo and it held up one nothing over Morocco. A

(25:19):
combined forty two fouls in that game. Three more games tomorrow,
starting on FS one at eight am Eastern time. The
Brooklyn Nets will reportedly acquire center Dwight Howard from Charlotte
for Tim if A, Mob's GOV two second rounders and
Cash Howard has an expiring contract. Our NBA Draft show
is tomorrow night. The NBA will hold a regular season
game in London in January. Nick's versus Wizards. Stanford forward

(25:43):
Read Travis is transferring to Kentucky average twenty points a
game last season. Phil Mickelson issued an apology for moving
a ball at the US Open four days ago. Lots
of day games in Major League Baseball. At Toronto, Blue
Jays have beaten Atlanta five for Jay half the winning
picture now nine and three, The Cardinals are tied three three,
bottom of the seventh. At Philadelphia, Cardinals starter Michael Walker

(26:05):
left early with a strained oblique. Jack Area has gone
six innings for the Pills, and at Cleveland it's eleven
nothing Indians over the White Sox in the top of
the second. Just one hit for the Chicago White Sox.
We've lost six in a row. Back to you, that's
what happens when he faced Corey Kluber as well the
pitching wise for the White Sox. You know what's the
White Sox excuse the other fifty games unbelievable? Just the

(26:26):
amount of disrespects Steve shows, athletes, coaches, teams in general.
I'm sick of it. Have you seen the White Sox? No,
that's the Yeah, if you have, you may have an issue.
What a dumb Hey, here's the other thing about Like
the Orioles are even worse. But the actually have guys

(26:50):
that we know so so they're they're not even they
are they are atrocious. They are the worst. Actually, twenty
and fifty one Baltimore. Uh what is their winning percentage? Uh? What? Two? Three? Yeah,
it knows the winning percentage is like to seventy five,
you know, and when it can be the weight of
a of a male, you know, like that's normally like

(27:11):
you're like, okay, you know of a a a human male,
Like when you're winning percentages a weight you've got when
when when you've only got one guy batting to seventy
five and the team winning percentages to seventy Thank you
very much. This is the Doug gott Leap Show here
on Fox Sports Radio. He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer.
That is John Ramos. You know, I didn't realize I

(27:32):
know Jonas that you know you you were a long
time Cubs fan. Um, but you and John is this
kind of a head to head Today comes Dodgers playing
day baseball and he any animosity if you put your
Cubs fans side, Yeah, I mean listen. Um, It's just
it's this strange thing being out here in l A.
When the local team, the Dodgers, are playing. Um, when

(27:53):
you can't watch it, it's not really uh because we
don't have Yeah, I had no idea. Um, you can
watch a soccer team from Iran, but you can't watch
the l A Dodgers. That's where we're at with with
the old Dodger Spectrum Sports whatever that crap is. You
can you can hear the NBA Draft tomorrow here on

(28:14):
Fox Sports Radio special Draft Show starting at seven o'clock
Eastern time. Chris Brussard, along with Jason McIntyre and Karen Butler,
will have our coverage and looking ahead to the NBA Draft.
Jonas it's different as it years passed. I just asked
Rick Kambla about the name that that stands out, because
let's be honest, we aren't familiar with tons of names

(28:35):
in the first round of the NBA Draft. Different than
it was twenty years ago. And and now when you
look at how these players are transitioning to the NBA
to see the young guys. We know what a great
year Donovan Mitchell had, but he still wasn't an NBA
All Star. Lorie Marketing is gonna make you know first
team All Rookie team. Believe, actually already did. I can't

(28:56):
remember when the teams came out, but Lori Marketing is
a top five rookie and the NBA. Now, when you're
looking at how things transition with the NBA draft, it's
like the NFL draft. In the NBA draft have switched
positions from twenty years ago. Because twenty years ago, you
would take a guy in the first round in the NFL,
specifically a quarterback, it's a it's gonna sit a year.

(29:17):
We're not don't eve gonna think about playing them. We're
gonna ease him in. Maybe if it's a running back.
Unless there it's a it's a a top pick, a
left tackle, you're easing guys in. Heck, maybe they would
even ease left tackles in at a time. Now in
the NFL, you've got to get production immediately from a first, second,
and third rounder, while the NBA we're sitting here waiting
on all these guys. Yeah, and there's also in the NFL,

(29:39):
it's a such a win now we need to see
results now driven league that I mean a lot of
coaches don't want to wait around for you to to
figure out whether you can play at that level. They're
they're coaching for their job. You know that they need
to see results right away. And if you look at
situations around the league, like Baker Mayfield, uh yeah, you
want to develop your number one pick. But Hugh jack

(30:00):
And also wants to save his job. So does he
trust Tyrod Taylor being able to save his job if
it's even savable at this point, or does he trust
a rookie and Baker Mayfield. There's no time to develop
these guys in in the n b A. You're right,
it's almost like you draft him, you stash him. Uh it,
maybe they produce. Everyone points to Jayson Tatum, what a

(30:21):
home run that was. Let me tell you something, man,
if Gordon Hayward doesn't get hurt five minutes into the
regular season, Jayson Tatum is not that player because he
wouldn't have gotten those opportunities they would have played him,
he would have been off the bench, but that was
an injury that resulted in in a positive results for
the Celtics. But that wasn't intentional. They didn't intend to
play him as much as they did. So to your point, yeah,

(30:42):
it's things that totally flipped. And I think in the
way that the NBA is set up now, with the
superstars that they have, it's easier to turn things around.
Well I shouldn't say, I think, I know it's easier
to turn things around in the NFL. I mean too,
to think that you're going to draft a guy in
the n b A and immediately compete with the Warriors
and let's just say Cavaliers and Rockets for for this

(31:04):
example of this past year, you're it's absurd, crazy. But
in the NFL, if you have a good draft class,
and you know, one of the issues with the NFL too,
is kind of the middleman has been forced out. Either
you're a great veteran and you're gonna have a long career,
or if you're a middleman special teams guy who after
your first contract is gonna want a little bit more money.
But the difference of what you do on the field

(31:25):
compared to a rookie is marginal, then they're gonna go
with the rookie just because it's cheaper. So the middleman
is kind of moved out, allowing these rookies to move in.
But hey, if if you draft, if you draft DeAndre Ayton,
and you know, the Phoenix Suns, are we looking at
them as maybe twelfth in the West instead of dead last?
And I think that's actually realistic. So the climb to

(31:47):
get back in it is so much higher than it
would be into the NFL, where hey, if you turn
things around, maybe you go nine and seven and go
on to go on a nice little run of the playoffs. Yeah,
and I also think first place schedule, Like watch the
Rams next year. Everyone's talking about the Rams. The Rams
are gonna have a first place schedule now, you know, teams,
teams flip all the time. Look at the Cowboys the
past three years. Uh, they were in the playoffs. One

(32:09):
year they were they were four and twelve, one year,
they were thirteen and three the next and then they
were nine and seven last year. I believe it's it's
constantly up and down because you're playing more difficult schedules.
Teams are constantly rotating. In the n B a if, Like,
look at some of the top player to your point,
nobody made the All Star team, right, Yeah, Like nobody

(32:31):
made the All Star Team as a rookie. Like the Sixers. Man,
that's a young, promising team. They really hit in the draft. Man,
they got two potential superstars. Neither of them played until
this year. So you're you're just depending on And when
you think about watching the NBA Finals Lebron James, Kevin Durant,
Steph Curry to take a guy, a kid when he's eighteen,

(32:55):
nineteen years old and expect him to come in and produce. Man,
when I was eighteen or nineteen years old, I think
I was working at Toys r US not kidding, I was.
I was stocking shelves at Tuesday morning. You're expecting these
guys to step in and play against grown man in
big time situations. It's just not believable. And then if
you do end up on a team where you are

(33:15):
going to get a lot of playing time, that team
is probably gonna be bad. It's probably gonna be a
bad organization and a bad team, and that's why you
went that high in the draft. So I just think
I think the game has changed I think teams, but
there are still teams like Utah who needs to hit
in the draft because trying to lower a free agent
to Salt Lake just isn't doable. Same with Boston for

(33:35):
the most part. So yeah, I think things have completely
changed in the draft. And I look back. I just
go back to when that was the Chris Webber Draft
with Penny Hardaway going to the Orlando Magic. But you
even go after that, you look at some of the
names like Isaiah Ryder was fifth overall, Jamal Mashburn fourth overall,
Lobby Hurley was seventh, Vin Baker to the Bucks eighth,
Rodney Rogers to the Nuggets ninth. You look at those

(33:58):
guys and and while Rodney ron yours isn't a like,
you know, a guy that's going to turn around a franchise,
You're like, hey, Rodney Rodgers, Hey look at this turnaround.
This is this is going to change things. Now, if
you're the eighth or ninth pick in the NBA, you're
just hoping, all right, I hope this guy can actually
contribute maybe some minutes off the bench for us at
at best, maybe play later on in the season. That's

(34:20):
not what the NBA was twenty five years ago in
the NFL. They've just they've switched spots Dan Buyer, Jonas
Knox and for Doug gottlie Pierre on Fox Sports Radio.

Coming up next, there is some dirt, some inside information
on a potential Hall of Famer. Find out the latest
next Here, n fs are that it is I'm Dan Buyer,
He's Jonas Knocks, John Ramos here as well as we
are in for Doug today. And even though Doug is

(35:03):
out doesn't mean we can't play a game. This is
game time side on the Doug Gottlieb Show, Steve the
Seger is here and Steve, what game do we have today? John?
Real news? Fake? Do you see how we have this produced?
I could have actually said the sentence, but no, we

(35:25):
have to have somebody with a better voice. Than all
of us combined. Steve hates production. By the way, I
like it. It's just my goodness. Okay, let's just talk
story number one. I'll give it to you. You tell me, guys,
real news or fake news. Dwight Howard It has been
traded once again, this time from the Charlotte Hornets to
the Brooklyn Nets, and the reason why is reportedly only

(35:45):
for basketball reasons because the league has passed him buying
big Man. It become obsolete real news or fake news.
Just the way it's word it. It sounds like the
Seger fake news curveball because it's like some like, you know,
taking shots at Dwight Howards. If you're looking for a

(36:05):
reason serious x m NBA Brendan Haywood said the Hornets
locker room did not like Dwight Howard quote. Guys were
just sick and tired of his act. There is also
an expiring contract. It nearly what he should have said
is the buzz out of the Hornets locker room, because
I had that joke when they're in the Bobcats like
that story to Redskins quarterback Alex Smith. By the way, yes,

(36:29):
and I know that this isn't this isn't like a
huge secret. But people know why they were called the Bobcats.
Do you know John Ramos because it's a type of animal. No, Well,
the owner's name was Robert Johnson, so Bob that's why
they called them the Bobcats. Steve, you knew that, right,
I did. It makes more sense though that they got
that back their original nickname and New Orleans is the

(36:50):
Pelicans because the Pelicans state and they had the rights anyway,
Benson to the Pelican name in New Orleans. Everybody's happy.
That's a that's a true story. Yes, I thought it
was because Bobcat Goldweight was the part owner. He was
the announcer. Hadn't you like to really dropping this guy

(37:11):
to get rid of come Walker and then his color
man Sam Kinison? Probably? Yeah, I love Sam Kennison. You
wouldn't need a bicrophone. Redskins quarterback Alex he is no longer.
I don't think he was with us when the Bob
gets work for the job. Now, Alex Smith thinks it's
gonna take a couple of seasons to get things going

(37:33):
in d C because learning a new offense, getting everyone
on the same page, it's gonna take some time. Real
news are fake news? Why is not passing the ball?
And you wonder why we're over here and we're not
a very good team. You want your why nobody goes
to the games? That was like a mini Sam kinison there.

(37:58):
You could really try to be a professional. Yeah, it's
like the people that used to do the impersonations of
Johnny Mose, the old Celtics announcer. You can do it once,
but you really can't do the rest of the afterwards
john because he's smoking camels today anyway. Alex Smith said
he agrees with his new coach j Gruden's assessment that
the Redskins must win out of the gate in his
first season there. He said recently, I don't think you

(38:20):
can rely on the fact that, oh, it's the first
year here, nobody cares. The Redskins did miss the playoffs
the last couple of seasons. Haven't won a postseason game
since the two thousand five season. Free agent wide receiver
Eric Decker told Serious x M NFL Radio he's about
to be open to signing with any NFL team except
the Patriots because he's heard bad things about playing in

(38:40):
New England. End quote. In fact, he became a free
agent in March has yet to find a team. Foren
told Serious Today that he thinks the Patriots would be
a good fit. Josh McDaniels, there ran the Broncos when
Decker was there, and I don't know if anybody thought
about this. You don't know why. Eric Decker makes a
lot of sense in New England. He's a wide receiver

(39:02):
and he's white. There you go, there you go about that.
The funny thing with Steve's fake news is I thought
to my salfocate, nobody would say, but they didn't. Cassius
March say that the same thing, like it was just
still trying to figure out who that guy is. Okay,
a headline real news are fake news. Rockets fans try

(39:23):
to sabotage as a Curries New Houston restaurant on Yelp
before it even opens. That is that is real news
for iesa. You go, I've never had ABC another batreation,
remember that we did? Oh man, that's real news. I'd

(39:47):
rather hear bobcat Goldthwaite sign that we're played an intender.
Little retribution for Steph Curry and the Warriors knocking out
the Rockets this postseason. Some of the yelp review of
a restaurant that is not even opened yet. By the way,
Curry's restaurant isn't set to open until next month. But
that's one of the one of the things that's Yeah,

(40:10):
her husband ripped our hearts out. Another review, You are
not welcome in age Town another one. If I wanted
to have a terrible time, I would turn on a
Warriors game. In other ways, I would rather eat at
KFC for breakfast every day out there. Appairly Curry's running
the board today. By the way, if you yelp, you're

(40:32):
a loser. That's the only time people complain is on
yelled yeah yelp. This yeah one stars everywhere and John
Ramos is your as well. In ninety minutes a new
edition of The John Ramo Show. The thing about the
John Ramo Show. Just to get this out of the way,
most shows go on like summer hiatus, not the John

(40:54):
Ramos Show. There is there is no such thing as
summer vacation for the John Ramo Show. I did see
John sent a tweet out promoting the John Ramo Show
last night, UM and I wanted to follow up with
that tweet and say, um and Dan Byron. I will
be hosting the other segments the other two hours in minutes. Also, wait,

(41:21):
we've got a phone call. That just a live phone
call going on. This is what happens when you prepare
for the John Ramo Show here on Fox Sports right now.
So we'll let John take that call. Probably his agent
saying you've got another raise. That's probably what it was.
But the John Ramo Show comes up in ninety minutes. Also,

(41:44):
what's interesting about John, and I've noticed this a little
bit with with the West coast. John put Pacific time
first and then put Eastern time. Usually it's like, you know,
eight eastern, seven Central, and everybody on the Pacific time
zone knows that, Okay, it's gonna be eight o'clock out here. John,
no to thirty Pacific Eastern. Flipped it around, did that

(42:06):
a little bit? Yeah, I like to promote the Pacific
times on a little bit more than the East time zone.
But also you talked about summer higatus. You know, most
shows what they order like twelve episodes for the season.
The John Rama Show, we order episodes, okay, something to
look forward more than usual. Ninety minutes from now, a

(42:28):
new episode of The John Rama show, The NBA Draft
is tomorrow, and we've got you covered here on Fox
Sports Radio. Answer it was an actual call. It was
it was the massage parlor saying, John, you forgot your belt.
The best NBA Draft show is tomorrow. All right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Catch Chris Brussard, nbhap A, Karan Butler,

(42:49):
and Jason McIntire throughout the entire first round of the
draft beginning at seven o'clock Eastern Time, in addition to
the latest Lebron and Kawai Leonard rumors that have predictions
and analysis of all thirty picks in the first round.
So mare Night, Chris Bruce Are, Karen Butler, and Jason
McIntire seven Eastern, that's four Pacific on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaking of Kawhi Leonard, we touched on the top of

(43:09):
the show, Jonas about the meaning that Kawhi Leonard hand
with Gregg Popovich in San Diego yesterday, as it seems
like Kauai and the Spurs at least are meeting face
to face and what I feel is now a huge
step in how San Antonio wants to address what they're
going to do with Kawhi Leonard next season. O the
trade him this offseason, or if they think that there's
nothing else that they can do to repair the damage

(43:30):
that has already done, or if they think they can
repair it, maybe hold on to him and keep him
for next year before he can opt out of his contract.
Some options at least the Spurs are looking towards after
this meeting last night, because it seemed it seemed throughout
the spring, when games were still being played and they
really hadn't spoken with him face to face, that the
Spurs really weren't listening to any offers during that time. No,

(43:51):
they weren't taking it serious. I think they probably thought
this is doable, this is reparable, and then to go
meet up with him, go have a conversation with him.
My suff reports that that he had been avoiding the meeting,
that he didn't even want to take a meeting, which
leads me to believe that he wanted out a lot
longer than just this season. I think he was thinking.

(44:13):
But the fact that teammates came out called him out,
questioned the legitimacy of the injury that probably pissed him off.
And now he's got a red ass about it. He
once out of town, allegedly. Now, this happened a year
ago with LaMarcus Aldridge, as you talked about before, and
they were able to make it work. Aldridge came back,
signed a new deal, if I'm not mistaken, and had
a great year. So there's still some hope. But every

(44:36):
all the signs and all these stories and rumors that
you're hearing is that he wants out regard and there's
there's another level to all of this. It's not just
a superstar Jonas that is looking to go to another
team on a team that has never had this problem before.
When you have got the standard, the top of the
top of the the mountain of the Golden State Warriors,

(45:00):
I think They're dominance has made all of these off
seasons so much more intriguing just for the simple fact Jonas,
it's a it's a a race to try to compete,
and there's only so many pieces that you can really
put together that you can top a team like Golden State.
And so when the piece like the value of Kawhi

(45:22):
Leonard becomes available, it adds so much more intrigue because
of how dominant the Golden State Warriors event. It also
makes me wonder I truly believe that at some point
Danny Ainge within the last year and a half just
said to himself, you know what, I'm just gonna wait

(45:44):
Lebron out. I'm gonna wait for him to get old,
or I'm gonna wait for him to leave the conference.
And then I got the East that that's when I'm
And so when I see these teams racing to try
and catch Golden State, like Houston racing to try and
catch up with what the Warriors are doing, I just
think to my so, maybe the best strategy is to
do what Danny Ainge did, and that's maybe wait this out.

(46:05):
Just wait it out, because how many more runs does
Golden State have in them? I mean, we hear this
all the time that you know there was it wasn't
the smoothest ride this past season. Teams get tired of
each other. Uh was a much more difficult route this
time around. You still had Kevin Durant, You're still at
all the same players. They were all great, but injuries, fatigue,

(46:27):
all that stuff starts to add up. So maybe you
just wait it out. So when teams gun it and
go for it, if you miss time it, you're gonna
end up like Toronto, and now Toronto's in and nobody
has any idea what Toronto is gonna look like because
they their whole goal was let's chase down Cleveland. This
is our year, and two straight years you got swept
and then your coach got fired, So like you can

(46:48):
take that chance. But I just wonder if maybe you
gotta wait this thing out. I also I do think though,
like in Toronto situation, they you can only do so
much with the marjar Rosen and Kyle Lowry, and that's
where maybe like they looked at the situation of like,
this is what we've got. This is the best that
we're going to do with this talent, So let's just

(47:10):
try to to put pieces around it, because I don't
know if we're gonna get somebody better than tomorrow Derosan
and Kyle Lowry here in Toronto. Boston is a different
example now with Kauai Leonard stature. If you're the San
Antonio Spurs, or maybe if even from the other side
of things, if you're one of those teams interested in Kauai,
this could be your opportunity to get the guy that

(47:32):
you couldn't get for a year. And when Rick at
least for just one year, you wouldn't know what he
would do, what he would opt out. But for eighty
two games, maybe you could get your hands on a
player that you otherwise wouldn't be able to. Rick Campbell
of NBA TV join us on the show a little
bit earlier to talk about the trade partners that the
Spurs may have with Kauai Leonard and made up an
interesting option of maybe you don't want to go with

(47:54):
the better teams overall. I think he goes to the
team that is going to present the spur is with
the best package. I think the team does the Boston
Celtics that doesn't meet Kawhi Leonard's goals of going to
l A. I get that. Greg Popovitch gets that, our
CPU for the the GM of the Spurs gets that.
But if I'm the Spurs and it's all about you

(48:14):
and your people in your camp and it's all about
this this quad injury, why am I going to do
right by you? You just completely left me hanging out
to dry. We will the playoff run? Why am I
going to do right by you? I'm doing right by me.
I'm gonna send you to the team that sends me
the best package back, and I think that's gonna be
the Boston Celtics. Another is Boston in that wind mode now?

(48:36):
And and does Kawhi Leonard put them over the hump?
That's the questions that now you're starting to to look
at and if the pieces that would go if you
want to think of like long run and waiting all
this out, Jonas, is Kawhi Leonard a one year rental
worth doing for the Boston Celtics right now? Um? If
he wasn't gonna go there obviously after opting up, here's
the problem because then you've basically got two guys on

(48:59):
one deals. You've got You've got Kyrie Irving and you've
got Kawhi Leonard on one year deals. And is that
worth trying to chase the title? I just I don't
know if it's if they're going to make that drastic
of a move when you when you have such player
control over younger players on your team. That's why I
don't know that it makes that much sense. Here's the

(49:21):
other one that I was thinking about. Everyone's talking about.
Kawhi Leonard wants to go to l a. He wants
to go to the Lakers. Great Popovich has a great
relationship with Doc Rivers. They're really good friends. They're close,
they know each other. They've they've they've talked about it.
They've had great relationships all the way around. I don't
know what the Clippers could package together. And then they've

(49:43):
got the twelve and the thirteen pick. But if he
really wanted to go to l A and that was
a place and Popovitch wanted to work with him, because
maybe their relationship is okay, but maybe he just doesn't
want to be around those teammates anymore. Maybe Papovitch says, listen,
I can't trade you to the Lakers. I'm just not
willing to do that. But I can send you to
l A to go play for the Clippers and go

(50:05):
be with a coach that I trust, that I know
is going to have your best interests in mind. And
then all of a sudden, if that deal gets done
and you're Lebron James and you're looking around and you go,
hold on a second, I can go to l A
to play with a Lonzo ball Um, LaVar ball in essence,

(50:26):
Kyle Kuzma and that group. Or over at the Clippers,
they've got DeAndre Jordan's and Kawhi Leonard already there and
Doc Rivers is there a guy I know who's got
championship pedigree? Then I think it starts to change the
conversation about Lebron. So I think this whole Kauai scenario
kind of dictates maybe other moves, because now if he

(50:48):
ends up on the Clippers, I don't know about you,
but it's hard for me to argue that that's not
a better spot for Lebron than than would be the Ladys. Yeah,
I still think that Western Conference stands in the way
of it because we've heard of Popovich and the Spurs
not wanting him to deal with the Western Conference team.
And I don't think that Kauai would balk at being

(51:09):
a member of the Clippers. And I think that that
would be a place, you know, it is l a,
it's not the Lakers, but at least he would be
back in southern California. I think the Spurs want to
deal him to three teams. You're ready for these three teams,
Magic Hawks and Hornets, Okay, like like seriously, because it
wouldn't meant any it wouldn't have any any effect on
them whatsoever. The teams wouldn't be and you wouldn't get

(51:32):
anything in return. But that's how I look at like,
you don't want to trade him to to the to
the Celtics if you're not going to get huge pieces
in return. And and your point about maybe Kyrie opting out.
And I just spent the last week in New York
at the U S Open and listening to local radio,
and if it wasn't about the Yankees and Mets and
Jacob Degram maybe being traded by the Mets to the Yankees,
there's a lot of Kyrie Irvington New York talk and

(51:54):
and and it's something that you know as a Knicks fan,
people are and the more that they talk about it,
the more I'm like, this is really really maybe a
situation where Kauai could up there, Kyrie would would end
up doing And then if you're the Celtics, not only
would you have lost two of your biggest pieces, you
also would have traded one a way to San Antonio.
And with that window that you talk about of the

(52:15):
Golden State Warriors, even with Kauai, I mean, you would
still be taking away Jalen Brown. You have no idea
how Gordon Hayward's gonna fit into things. You have no
idea about the chemistry. To me, to give up a
Jalen Brown type of player for Kawai Leonard for one
year and what the landscape is right now is not
worth it. If I'm Boston, I'm holding i I'm I'm

(52:35):
holding Serve or or just just freezing right now to
find out how things play out in nineteen before I
really want to go, because then you still have Tatum
and Brown and in all those pieces around. And also,
Kyrie Irving was on Bill Simmons podcast recently and said
he just had dinner with Brad Stevens, his wife and

(52:55):
his kids, so this whole man. Maybe Kyrie Irving is
not happy Boston. Stop. If Kyrie Irving wants out, it's
not because he's not happy, it's because maybe there's better
opportunities in New York outside of just basketball. And the
one thing the Celtics have that a lot of teams
except for Golden State doesn't have is player control. Like

(53:18):
and every other in every situation you look around the league,
the organizations teetering on the verge of either being a
contender or being in the lottery are because they don't
have control over their stars. Jalen Brown your point, Um,
Jayson Tatum, You've got Hayward for another three years. You've
still got Horford under contract. I just to to give

(53:41):
up that part of your power to bring in another
guy who's gonna maybe opt out in a year anyways,
I just I don't know how much sense that would make.
And I don't know if the value of Kawhi Leonard
is as high as people want to make it. I mean,
some are putting him as the third best player in
the NBA, which I don't think he is, especially now
with the attitude issues and let's be honest, injury issues,
and you have no idea where he does want to
sign after he would, so you can't value him as

(54:03):
the third best player in the NBA. UM, even if
you'd want to. Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug
gottliep here on Fox Sports. Rade. You can get Dan
on Twitter at Dan Buyer on Fox. You can get
me at the Jonas Knocks coming up next. Um. One
of the more controversial athletes on the network. I mean controversial.
He's also a fraud and a cheat. I He'll be

(54:25):
joining you next year on FS are Gosh I'm going
to in insane? Does this end? Does this end? It's like,
is there something that kicks? That's Jonas Knocks, He's Jhon Romos,
I'm Dan Buyer. Okay, okay there, okay, goodness. I've never

(54:47):
wanted to do X to see more in my entire
life with just now this. Oh my goodness, this is
what an actual headache sounds like. This is if you've
had a headache, That's what it is. The beat still
hasn't dropped in. How far along into the song? Are

(55:07):
we one minute? Second? My goodness? Oh jeez uh. That
was that was rough? That was that was a rough one. Um,
this is the Doug got Leap Show. He's Jonas Knocks.
I'm Dan Buyer. That is John Ramos in for Doug
today and Jonas have got it right here. Yeah. Football
Preview Magazine bought that a couple of weeks ago. Monday
bought the Fantasy Football Preview magazine as well. I just

(55:30):
can't get enough of the NFL as as summertime is
now in full swing. Did you say NFL? I did?
Did you mean like former NFL quarterback? Hey, why don't
we have one that's joining us right now? He's Jonas
is tag team partner on Sunday's nine o'clock Eastern time
here on Fox Sports Radio, Bretty Quinn joining us. Hey, Bratty,
Hey guys, thanks for having me on. What's what's going

(55:52):
on today? I hear you guys listening to some E
d M music that's typically uh, it's weird. Jonas told
me it's actually that the type of music he likes
to make love too. Yeah. Yeah, when there's no people
go for R and D something like that. Jonas like, yeah, yeah,
when there's nobody else in the room, that's what I
do it. Um uh And let me ask you this.
By the way, Dan, I would be careful around Brady Quinn.

(56:13):
He's a scam artist and he's a fraud. He went
and and we were making our World Cup picks. I
picked Senegal over Poland. He had them go back in
and edit in me saying Poland. So I got screwed
over in the past. Yea, there is, Dan. You know
what's sad about it is like when I when I
was looking at the match, I was thinking more athletics.

(56:33):
They're a bit more skilled, yeah, Jonas, Yeah, some reason
I want to go direct. I can't imagine why. Yeah,
I was, I can't imagine why. Okay, is this is
this a survivor pool or how do you guys play it?
I have no idea. You know what, you know what
it is. It's a it's a Disager is also a
scam artist. And he found three suckers who don't watch soccer,
so that just Sager could pick winners every week. That's

(56:54):
what it is. Uh, let's let's talk some other football,
if you will. Tom Brady keeps I'm talking about retiring
in his mid forties, and now we saw him make
a post on him believe it was an Instagram post
and responding in Spanish with the number forty five, and
then the age of forty five seems to be brought
up a lot when it comes to Tom Brady and

(57:15):
his retirement. Is it realistic for not even just a
quarterback Brady, but any NFL player to say, hey, I've
got four more years in me. Is that realistic to
say when you've already crept into your into your forties
like Tom Brady? Well, unless you're Adam Been a Terry, right,
if you're a kicker, I think it's probably a little
bit easier to say than making the case as a quarterback.

(57:37):
Two things this is gonna depend upon. In my you know,
in my opinion, it's it's gonna be health. If he's
got some sort of injury, right, that's gonna you know,
either put him out for the rest of the season,
whether it's an a c L killing something like that,
or shoulder injury. You've got to start thinking like maybe
that's gonna be the thing that like gets you closer
to the end, or maybe even a bad concussion. Um,

(58:00):
we've we've obviously heard his wife kind of win on
that matter, but the injury is going to be the
biggest thing as far as how he then changes his
viewpoint moving forward, since all this seems to be surrounded
about him spending time with this family and at what
point does he feel like he's missing out on that
part of his life and that part of their life
where he can't be the dad that he wants to be.

(58:21):
So it comes down to kind of the injury, uh
status moving forward and how healthy he can stay and
then a success because I think he's probably one of
the ultimate competitors that we've ever seen. He still carries
that chip on his shoulder from being a sixth round
traft pick, and you know, if they win the Super
Bowl this year and he gets to six you know,
you know, super Bowl Championships or Super Bowls one, do

(58:42):
you sit there and say, Okay, now is as good
of a time as any to kind of call it
a day and right off into the sunset. If they
get to another one and lose, does that just motivate
him more to come back? I mean that's ultimately like
the question of how is he gonna go about kind
of you know, putting the fun finishing cut is on
you know, this store that is his NFL career. That's

(59:04):
how is how is he going to kind of you know,
put an ending to all this and what is he
gonna choose to to decide to hang him up? You know,
is he gonna decide to hang him up on top?
Or is it that number of forty five and say, look,
I've talked about it, I made it to this point.
I think this is as big of accomplishment as anything,
as many as I've one had been showing the records
playing to forty five at this position, that's never gonna

(59:24):
be done again. Brady Quinn with us here on Fox
Sports radio Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottliebs.
So a report came out on Cleveland dot com that
Baker Mayfield quote wasn't ready to compete for the number
one job and isn't quite ready right now. Um. You
know what it's like being a first round pick in Cleveland,
A lot of negativity in that town. Do you read

(59:45):
anything into that? And what does this say about Mayfield
moving forward? No? I think Dan Labby wrote it, you know,
one of the local bet reporters there, and in that
article you kind of, you know, talked a little bit
about the fact that that was a part of the
six practices that were open that the media was able
to see, and the they felt like he wasn't in
a in a posistion to compete with Thyrod Taylor at
this point. Um. And and I'm not really sure that

(01:00:06):
many people thought he would be. Um. You know, there's
not many prospects that come into the NFL like and
Andrew Luck who are pretty much ready to go day one, uh,
and are gonna look somewhat the part right. So you know,
I would have been shocked if they would have came
away saying that I would have maybe been a little
bit questioning, you know, are they are they not putting
enough on it? This is typically that time of the

(01:00:26):
year that you do that, So he's right, really needs
to be. I think here, here's the thing that's gonna
happen in the next you know, three months, two months,
is you know, the gap between where Baker Mayfield is
now and where he can get to It's gonna be
much bigger than where Tyrod Taylor is now. Where he
can get to. You know, he's learning a new system,
he's developing chemistry with the wide receivers. Really both of
them are, but Tyrod Taylor is kind of already a

(01:00:48):
known commodity. It's Baker Mayfield that's gonna take those big
jumps that whether it's not much better than Tyrod Taylor
or not, it's gonna feel that way because we're gonna
see him make those strides and that's gonna gonna be
really the biggest difference, I think, and when they try
to put him into play is once he makes those
big strides. Brady Quinn joining us here on Fox Sports Radio.
He's Jonas Knocks. I'm Dan Buyer in for Doug Gottlieb.

(01:01:09):
How would you bring along Lamar Jackson because it seems
like there are packages that the Ravens could could put
for play, you know, put in play for him to
put him immediately on the field, but maybe not be
the long term answer right away. How would you handle
Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. It's it's funny if that's the
manner in which they're going about getting him on the field.

(01:01:31):
They're essentially doing all the things that his mom and
talked about not wanting to do leading up to the draft,
right now, running growing at forty now, wanting to to
work out as anything other than a quarterback, right as
a wide receiver, running back. But if you're putting in
a package like that, that's essentially what you're saying you
trapped into be this special player that isn't good enough
just to play quarterback. They compete with Joe Flacco, but

(01:01:51):
it's so good we have to put the ball in
his hands and put him on the field. So, you know,
I hope they don't do that to him because I
think he can play quarterback in the NFL. Uh And
and I'm not sure you know why you're not putting
him on the field more if you feel like he's
so good he needs a package, right. Doesn't that say
something about Joe Flacco then? So you know that that's
more of the issue is And if you're Joe Flacco,
you're price in yourself. Why am I coming off the

(01:02:14):
field even if we're on the field at the same time,
if this guy is in here as a gimmick, like
you don't think we can win a Super Bowl running
a conventional offense or with me just kind of running
the show, I would feel a little bit slighted if
that was me and I was in that situation. Brady Quinn,
former NFL quarterback, Notre Dame, legend, Fox Sports radio host
and World Cup scam artist with us here on Fox
Sports Radio last one for me before we let you go.

(01:02:37):
So the Kawhi Leonard situation, and he apparently wants out
of San Antonio. He's very upset, not happy with the
way teammates called him out and called out the severity
of his injury during the season and kind of questioned
his his the legitimacy of the injury. How would that
have played out in an NFL locker room? If you
had veteran teammates call out a player in his prime

(01:03:00):
over not returning because of an injury. Have you seen
that before in the NFL or in football in general?
And how would that play in the football locker room?
I never personally really experienced that on eight teams that
I can recall off the top of my head. Um,
there's there was a there's a situation where um, I
did I did. I was not gonna say who it was.

(01:03:21):
I was playing for a certain team and I walked
into the huddle and there's there was a you know,
a player who didn't want to go to a certain
position because of the matchup he was gonna have to
you know, basically have versus that defensive end. And literally,
because we had an industry, we had to have someone moved.
And the guy we had just signed was off the
street like the week before, and he could only play guards,

(01:03:42):
so we had to have this guard moved to tackle.
So at that point, you know, you're you're sitting there
like we literally had to call a time out to
get the offensive coordinator to yell and complain to him,
and we end up having another offensive lineman step up
to move into that left tackle spot. So you know,
long story short, it didn't go over well, and now
that was the last game of the season though, so
it wasn't like there was a ton of carry over.

(01:04:03):
We basically lost the game, got on the plane, went home,
how to physicals, and then the entire place blew up
after that, So it wasn't like, you know, there was
a lot of carry over from that standpoint, But um,
I did experience that sort of scenario, and it does
make you, um you know, you understand the position he's
coming from because he was in a contract year, he

(01:04:23):
had an injury, and he didn't want to put himself
at more at risk to look like he was playing bad.
But at the same time, you know, you'd like him
to try to help your team out to win a game.
So I'm not really sure like what came of that,
just because the way things worked out and what happened
in season, But it's definitely not a good look for
for one of your teammates to do something like that. Yeah,
we would never ask you to call anybody out on
the air or expose whoever that player was. It didn't

(01:04:45):
want to go in at the time, So I definitely
don't want to ask you his name, what's his Twitter account?
I don't even know what this guy has um, But yeah,
I know, I believe me. Like, like, not many people
are on that team after that happened, but uh, you
know they, like I said, he kind of blew the
whole place up. A lot of a lot of turnover,
especially when you have a bad season in the NFL,
It's to be expected, but it was. It was a

(01:05:07):
little bit awkward after the game, and I'm not really
that was the last thing anyone was thinking about that point.
Everyone's just worried about their job before. Former NFL quarterback
Brady Quinn, who teams up with Jonas Knox Sunday nights
here on Fox Sports Radio, joining us here on Fox
Sports Radio and for Doug Gottlieb. Thanks Brady, We appreciate
it's fun talking. What do you guys got coming up
for Sunday anything? Man, it's gonna be legend more World Cup,

(01:05:28):
you know, you know, Dan, It's funny. There's this guy
who comes on our show. His name is Live that Jesus.
Oh yeah, the real l J. Yeah yeah, the real
lb J. And he's let me say, he's been you know,
cold lately, so I'll be looking to rebound. I mean,
we're not sure if this guy has a home right now,
but he should be making an appearance Sunday night, so
we always look forward to that. Yeah, I mean, if

(01:05:50):
I ever met that guy, I would I would ask
him about some of the decisions he's made recently, just poor,
poor financial decisions. Probably. Like the weird thing is, it's like,
I wonder if it impacts Jonas even getting to work.
You know, I somehow those state by life that Jesus
that haven't gone well. I feel like it may have
may have been why Jonas hitchhiked and work today. In
a related story, I had to siphon gas from my

(01:06:10):
neighbor to get in today. Dan, there's that Jonas isn't
wearing pants today. That's that's nothing. Yeah, Yeah, that's that's
fair enough. I appreciate. Ready, we'll talk to you soon,
Dan Buyer. Jonas stocks in for Doug Gottlieb here on
Fox Sports Radio. Coming up next here on fs are

(01:06:30):
there's been this is one of the greatest debates in
the history of sports and the history of sports there
maybe has never been a bigger debate. We are actually
going to solve it. We are going to to finish it.
We are going to end the debate. We're gonna do
that next here on fs are. But for all the
latest from around the world of sports, ladies and gentlemen, Steve,

(01:06:52):
thank you, good night. Oh okay. Update. John Lester great
at Wrigley Field again and it's the Dodgers Hubs right now.
Cubs four nothing over l a in the bottom of
the seventh. Lester at Wrigley Over the last couple of
months ere A zero point five zero, and he's throwing
a shut out through the first seven tonight. A's have

(01:07:12):
hit four home runs already at San Diego at six nothing.
Athletics over the pot. By the way, not to interrupt,
one just traveled. I swear like that's not possible in
San Diego. Actually it was very far though. This is
four homers and it's only top of the third, So
oh you Padre fans, and I know there are so
many they may be leaving early today. Meanwhile, Cleveland shut

(01:07:35):
out the White Sox twelve nothing. That's seven straight losses
for the White Sox. Their offense well, two for twenty
nine against Corey Kluber and company Cluber eleven and three
Philadelphia for three win over St. Louis Cardinals starter Michael
Waka left early with a strange oblique Toronto and Cincinnati
got wins at the World Cup. Spain one nothing over Iran.

(01:07:56):
Uruguay got a Louis Suarez goal in the twenty third
minute for a one nothing in against Saudi Arabia and Portugal.
Christiano Ronaldo scored in the fourth minute on a diving
heater in Portugal got out shot the rest of the
way fifteen to nine, but that goal stood up one
nothing over Morocco, which will not advance. Now three more
games tomorrow, starting on FS one at eight am Eastern time.

(01:08:16):
The Brooklyn Nets will reportedly acquire center Dwight Howard from Charlotte.
Our NBA Draft show is tomorrow night, guys at seven
o'clock Eastern time. Jason McIntire, Chris Bruce Sard and then
be a champion. Crom Butler here on Fox Sports Radio.
Thank you very much, Steve. It is the Doug Gottlieb Show.
I'm Dan Buyer that's showing us knocks. John Ramos is
here as well as we are in for Doug today,

(01:08:38):
and let's just settle it. You've you've asked about this
for weeks months years, we finally settle the debate. M
j J for Lebron. All right, let's let's do it.
We're gonna leave it up to John Ramo. So okay,
John Ramos, you've got to settle the debate. Yeah, this

(01:08:58):
is a debate that's been going for so long, and
now it's time to just settle it. It's gonna be fun.
People wonder like, is Lebron better than Michael Jordan's? Is
Jordan's better than Lebron? What would Lebron have done on
the bulls teams? What would have Jordan's done on the
calves and heat teams. It's the debate we finally settle.
M J or Lebron m J. All right, John Ramos,

(01:09:22):
you're gonna be the one who's settling this debate. Here's
the question that I ask you who would be more
likely to drive o J in a white Bronco m
J or Lebron? M J or Lebron. I would say Lebron? Oh, interesting, interesting,

(01:09:44):
maybe more like a good friend? Yes, yes, MJ is
more of Uh we've heard a lot of stories about
him be kind of kind of angry, kind of like
not really you know, he didn't leave a lot of
tips I read somewhere. I think Lebron be more of
a friend type of guy that would that would definitely
want to help out. All right, all right, John? Who
is more likely to yell getting the whole at a

(01:10:05):
golf tournament? For Lebron? I think the way that Michael
Jordan has met he's wired that kind of like you know,
he's a golf for himself, I think he would be
the one to be yell getting the whole. That'd be
a Lebron thing. What I say, No, I think you

(01:10:29):
said enough right there. Moving on m J Jin For Lebron,
who's more likely to less than air pressure in a
basketball to help them in a big game a k
A to flate Gate. I think Lebron is you know why?
Because I think m J is the ultimate winner. He

(01:10:50):
wants to win at l cost and I think he
would he would let a little air out of it
if it meant to win a game. So you said Lebron,
and then you said m J. So what was a
question again? Who would likely lessen the air pressure in
a basketball to help them win? About Michael Jordan's Okay,
that's what I meant. It is Michael Jordan's all right,

(01:11:10):
you're ready. M J. J Jin or Lebron? Who is
more likely to ruin a microwave with macaroni and cheese? Okay,
that's not very nice. I would say Lebron would be
more apt to do that because he definitely, you know,

(01:11:31):
maybe he loves a track of time. He has guys
and his team that lose track of you know, scoring,
So he would be the one that probably would go
a little bit too long and that that mac and
cheese would be all over the place. All right, m
J Jin or Lebron? Who would be more likely to
tell gorbage off to tear it down that wall? That's
a good one. A little history. I know you're a

(01:11:51):
history I am. I love history. Um, I would say
m J. And I think he is definitely because he
always spoke out on issues during his plan. He didn't
do that. He didn't do that, but I think in
this situation he probably might. He This might be the
one he does, I would say, m J, m J

(01:12:13):
or Lebron. All right, John, who is least likely to
wash their hands after using the bathroom? Who this is
a guy who after he goes to the bathroom would
not wash his hands, I would just say, or at
least likely too uh, I would say uh. I would

(01:12:39):
say the both of them would be least likely to
do that. By to pick one, I would say m
J or Lebron. I would say Lebron only because he
wants to get back into that court quick during the game,
so he'd be the one and be like, hey, why
wash my hands? I'm just gonna get makes sense, There's

(01:13:01):
something else you have to realize a lot of Malcolm powder, remember, yea,
So Lebron would have to clear that smell. Final one
for me. Who would be more likely to appear on
the John Ramos Show, m J. J Engin or Lebron?
I would say Michael Jordan's because Lebron I don't think
he does radio, so I think if I got him

(01:13:24):
that would be over the time. So I think Michael
Jordan would be the more likely to say, you know what, Ramos,
let's do it, m J engine or Lebron Jordan on
Fox Sports Sunday last week, Harmon and I, Yeah, so
he's more likely to do radio. All right, Um, now
I have one more, John, Okay, one more. I mean

(01:13:47):
I can't go until I hear the images. M j
j Engin or Lebron more likely to send a crank
pick on snapchat. Um, I think Lebron's daring. I think

(01:14:07):
he does a lot of daring things. So I want
to say that Lebron would be somebody who would partake
if you know, if it was answered to this question
not in general, that might do that m j J
or Lebron. There it is, it's settled. What what's the
final counts? I've got Lebron five to three? Okay, I

(01:14:30):
think we asked like eight questions and I have it
sixteen to twelve because of the way that John went
back and forth. So Lebron is the dad, He's the goat.
Do we accomplish anything there? Do you think? Or I
just like the Jake or m J or Lebron. Alright,

(01:14:55):
little summer we could do? You wanted to tell you
to Mark Arland's got one another leave on the Giants
right now on the fourth we tried. All I know
is uh, another two runs in Oakland, San Diego and
somebody's a big winner. That's that's all I know. I listen.
I'm not a gambler, but when you don't know who's
pitching for either team, take the over. That's there you go,

(01:15:19):
Dan Buyer, Jonas knocks in for Doug gott Leevi here
on Fox Sports Trader. Get Dan on Twitter at Dan
Buyer on Fox if you if you question any of
John's decisions and in proclaiming that Lebron is greater than
m J, you can hit up John on Twitter at
j S. Ramos zero six Coming up next though, there
is uh one of the top quarterbacks in the NFC

(01:15:41):
had some interesting remarks about a former teammate. Find out
who it is next years. I'm Dan Buyer, that's Jonas knocks.
John Ramos is here as well as we are in
for Doug today on a nice, at least hot summer
day in Los Angeles, it's toxic, Like what are the

(01:16:02):
lyrics in this song? And we well the songs called
arrived Beautifully. You'll hear that, not soon but somewhere. Well,
if they're not gonna talk, maybe the Fox will. Now
at this time of the show, we like to take
a part from either a show on Fox Sports Radio

(01:16:25):
or Fox Sports One and bring back some interesting content
that we heard sometime in the last twenty four hours.
And that was the case this morning on the Dan
Patrick show as Dak Prescott or excuse me, I'm sorry
Colin Cowherd, where Dak Prescott joined the Herd to talk
about well Des Bryant as a teammate when they were

(01:16:46):
both teammates wearing the star on their helmet. I wouldn't
say necessarily forced me, but in your defense of what
you're saying, Yeah, when you have those those players like that,
those receivers, the Dodell Beghams, Antonio Brown's, that's Bryant, you
want to get them the babble as of what what
they've done in the past with the ball in their hand.
Where whether it's going to make that tough catch or
where if it's getting it on a slant and breaking

(01:17:06):
tackles or whatever it may be. You want to get
the ball in the hand. So, I mean, it's just
one of those deals that when you don't have a
big time guy or the number one or whatever you
want to call those guys, you go out there and
just spread the ball around and it's it's not a
factor even in your head, who gets a catch, who
has how many touches on. Some of my best games
in the NFL have been with eight different targets or
so so, uh, we'll head it. We'll head into this

(01:17:29):
season with the mirage of guys and be excited for
what we have. So that was Dak talking with Colin
about It started out about the criticisms or the issues
that Deck seemed to have when he was focusing on Dez,
and then his Deck continues to speak. It sounds like
Dac is more apt to throwing to as many different

(01:17:49):
targets as he can than to focus on one guy.
Dez Bryant has been a pain in the acid in
his career at times. Everybody knows that just the the
outburst on the sideline, all the stuff, and there are
some people to think the attitude is the reason why
he still doesn't have a job in the NFL. But
if you actually look at how that went down, I

(01:18:09):
think when people say, well, Dak Prescott doesn't really need
a number one receiver, that's a shot at Dez Bryan.
Here we go, more narrative on Dez Bryant, but we
actually look at it, and we're kind of looking at
it during the break. It's kind of the perfect storm
of bad luck for Dez Bryant because you had the
no catch call at lambeau Field in which a game
the Cowboys would have won that game and they would

(01:18:32):
have gone on to the NFC title games. He had
the no catch call at lambeau Field. He gets the
big contract. The next year, Romo gets hurt. They're terrible. Uh.
The next year after that, des b Dak Prescott comes in.
He immediately starts to click with guys like Cole Beasley
Jason Witten, both have more catches than him. Dez starts

(01:18:53):
to deal with his own injury issues. And then last
year you had Ezekiel Elliott out the offense good at times,
and I feel like Dez Bryant was sort of the
scapegoat and a lot of that, and I just it
was sort of the perfect storm of bad luck year
in and year out for Dez Bran over the past
couple of years. I don't know how much of that
is really on him. So when you're Dak Prescott make

(01:19:15):
those comments, I think people assume that it's, oh, well,
you know, Dez Bryan's just a pain in the assis
and he's not a good teammate. Now, there's a lot
of things that went against des Brian in those in
those scenarios, Brian you said did get paid and and
so like, at least for for his sake, he was
runcky that he ended up getting the contract that he
did and got paid for those years that at least

(01:19:36):
early on in the bigger contract. The fact of the
matter is, though, if you're a quarterback and in the system,
the system is different. And you could tell me all
about DeMarco Murray leading the NFL and rushing, when when
Tony Romo was there and there there are a different
team like how they go about it. You had DeMarco
Murray led the NFL into rushing. However, you still knew

(01:19:57):
that Tony Romo was the quarterback, that he was the
guy in Dallas when you see Ezekiel Elliott run behind.
Still one of the top lines. I know they've they've
lost some pieces over the last couple of years with
Freeze retirement and Ronald Leary moving on Jonas, it's still
a lean on you offense where it is still Ezekiel

(01:20:17):
Elliott's when he's there. And that's what's changed as well.
The rating. The passer rating numbers I think are legit
when it's better to Cole Beasley at Jason Witten, but
you know what, Oddly enough, this shouldn't be a shock
to anybody. Would you have a running game and you
can use play action and hit your tight end or
hit your slot receiver like they have, You're likely going
to have more success that way. So des his role

(01:20:39):
with the team just wasn't as important as it was.
By the way, Dan, we are brought to you by

people paid for the car you Once you could recognize
a good price. When you're ready to buy a newer
used car, visit truecr you enjoy a more confident car
buying experience. I know they don't have any names in

(01:21:00):
Dallas is wide receivers, but I still think they'll end
up making himes. You don't need a guy with fift
yards in that running offense. Darren McFadden had a thousand
behind that line. Yeah yeah, there's studs and John Ramos
is here as well. Bottom the hour, a Gen Ramo
show comes at you. We are just over twenty six
hours away from yeah now, but just under twenty six

(01:21:23):
hours away from NBA Draft coverage. Here on Fox Sports Radio.
You'll want to tune into the best NBA Draft show
that there is. Catch Chris Bruce, Sard, NBA Champion, Karan Butler,
and Jason McIntyre throughout the entire first round of the
draft beginning tomorrow at seven o'clock Eastern Time, in addition
to the latest Lebron and Kauai rumors who love the
predictions and an analysis of all thirty selections in the

(01:21:45):
first round Tomorrow night Chris Bruce, Sar, Karn Butler, and
Jason McIntyre at seven Eastern right here on Fox Sports Radio.
I'll be saddling up and listening. It's a the NBA
draft we talked about a little bit earlier, a different field,
but you've got this ends with maybe getting a franchise
type player and DeAndre Eton, the Luca don Chez. We

(01:22:05):
had Rickhambla on earlier talking about how much he loves
Mo Bamba. So I'm I'm interested in to see what
we have go down, and I'm really interested in Jonas
to see if they are going to be trades involving
star players tomorrow night in the NBA drafts. Yeah. Well,
and I also think this whole Popovitch meeting with Kawhi Leonard.
A lot of stuff could be moving around. Guys could

(01:22:25):
be uh moving places. Uh there. I saw a report
that came out that they expect a little more activity
on on on draft Day, that there's gonna be some
moves and teams kind of you know, jocking for position.
Dwight Howard already got traded earlier today. But I know
that the partners of the NBA draft, ESPN, Yahoo, somebody

(01:22:49):
else all said they would not tip what picks was
going what picks were going to be made. Do we
have to also not tip what picks are going to
be made? I think we have to h to abide
by those because I mean we could just sort of
make stuff up. I mean, we could just make stuff
up a day in advance and then you know, if

(01:23:11):
we if we're wrong and whatever, it's a day in advance.
But we can we can swim against current here we
if this is what's gonna happen, and this is what
you can do, Jonas. Is the way that these and
I mentioned like the trades of a star player. Players
now aren't traded really for the benefit of that current

(01:23:32):
team and what they're going to do unless it's a
big name. Now it's just salary dump, that's all it is.
And setting up for free agency and hope that you
can do more like that is That's what it's come
down to. So when there could be names thrown about
in the draft tomorrow, none of which are Wow, this
team makes that team an or this player now makes

(01:23:54):
that team a contender. Now it's this team set themselves
up for twenty nineteen. The teams set themselves up for
it's twenty That's what the Nets did today with the
Dwight Howard deal and in trying to get a couple
of MAX spots for next summer. So that's what the
NBA and the the draft date trades have come to.
It's no longer Chris Webber and Penny Hardaway being dealt.
It's a whole different story. It's like when you take

(01:24:14):
stuff to the goodwill. You know, you're not thinking when
you take stuff to the goodwill, gosh, I really hope
this old T shirt finds a good home. You're just thinking,
get out of my closet, Like I don't want to
want you anymore, So you gotta you gotta go, man.
I have had to have new clothes. I have stuff
I need to fit in there. I'm not really worried
about where you end up. Just don't be in my
house anymore. I I you know, the taking stuff to

(01:24:36):
Goodwill is amazing for the stuff that people will submit
to think that somebody else would want to win, like like,
oh my goodness, No, your shirt is the end of
the road. You are the end of the food chain.
No one wants to wear that shirt ever again. Giving
it to someone else because they may want to wear it, Yeah,
that just doesn't happen. And if you ever see underwear
it Goodwill, I would not recommend purchasing that. Probably woudn't

(01:25:00):
want to purchase that places. I'd go over to the
to the Blazers. Yeah, you know, see what sport coats
they have, and instead I would move on from from
that area. So the NBA Draft taking place tomorrow, there
are some teams that are really good at the NBA Draft.
One of those the Golden State Warriors. NBA Commissioner Adam

(01:25:21):
Silver was on ESPN Radio today and was addressing the
Kevin Durant rumors. The Kevin Durant stories on Kevin Durant
going to the Golden State Warriors and guys, if we
don't have it at school, because I've got it in
front of me here. But Adam Silver was kind of
attacking the the essence of how Kevin Durant going to

(01:25:44):
the Warriors ruined the NBA. This was Adam Silver on
ESPN Radio earlier. The twenty other teams, you know that
they're the biggest complainers in terms of de facted to
These two teams have met four times in a row,
and so they're ultimately collectively, our thirty teams are in
are of what system we have together with the players
and by the way, the players want to win two.

(01:26:04):
I mean it's not just owners. The players and twenty
other teams want a system that allows every player, regardless
of where they get drafted or where they get traded
or where they signed, to be able to compete for championships.
And that's what you want. So there's there's Adam Silver
talking about the teams that trying to compete. The issue
that he brings up is that they don't want to.

(01:26:25):
They don't want to make fake parody. I guess in
a way, jonas of of taking a Kevin Durant away
from a team like you don't want to penalize the
Warriors for drafting well and saying like you can't get
free agents because you drafted well, and trying to come
up rules to make that they don't want to do that.
The toughest part that that I see with this is

(01:26:46):
the Warriors drafted well and they can now get free agents,
and not every team in the NBA can do that
Like some we just talked about teams earlier, there are
certain teams that just aren't going to get free agents.
And that's what I think made it so different, so
so tough, is because maybe maybe free agents are going
to go to Oklahoma City in that gap is where

(01:27:07):
where Kevin Durant left. And I think that's maybe what
Adam Silver is trying to to go out of here
as they can't they can't trade, they can't do anything
to the Warriors against what I'm trying to say. But
what made it so tough for the other teams is
other teams maybe don't have the advantages that the Warriors
have in free agents. Um, if you think that the
Golden State Warriors have some now ruined the NBA, you're
a child. Okay, you're a little kid. You're a toddler.

(01:27:30):
When I've said this before, when I was younger, my
parents didn't have a lot of money. We were poor,
and so I remember getting like kind of upset when
I would see other kids with like nice things or
cars and stuff like that, and I'm still walking around
and thrift store clothes and all that, and I would
get I would kind of bother me a little bit.
And then the older I got, the more I said,
you know what, good for them. They got the money,
spend it. You want another car, go buy another car.

(01:27:51):
And and part of the reason why I changed my
tune on that is because, well, I'm not a little
kid anymore. These people complaining that the Warriors have Kevin Durant.
It it's like telling somebody, hey, you already have a
nice house. You can't have a They can't have a
nice car too, can't have both of them. They built
this organization and this team and this roster primarily through

(01:28:12):
the draft players that were available for other people to draft,
and they didn't. You don't like it, tough balls, They
went out and signed one free agent and they're better
than you at this. So the crying about, well it's
not fair and Golden States ruined it for the league.
That's crap. Those players were available for anybody to have.
You didn't pull the trigger and make the move and

(01:28:34):
and and and take those picks. That's your problem. And
this this whole we've got to like they're talking about
not only a hard cap now and uh and trying
to create a better playoff system, like because of the Warriors,
they're now talking about redoing how the how the playoffs
work and and different conferences and it's got to go.

(01:28:55):
Come on, man, just acknowledge they're better than you at this.
You don't like it figured out beat him? Period. The
when you look at how the NBA is and you're
trying to figure out the Big three, and we see
teams hanking all the time, and this isn't anything new.
And if if you've heard me, if you've you've heard
others say it as well, guaranteeing top picks in the
top three picks in three consecutive drafts does not bring

(01:29:18):
you the big three that you want. You can just
look at the at the Lakers with Brandon Ingram and
in D'Angelo Russell, Alonzo Ball and the guys that they
took early in the draft. Tech Russell isn't even there anymore,
so there's there's no guarantee with that. It's good to like,
we'll look back in time and say, man, what a
run with the Golden State Warriors. But when you're in

(01:29:39):
the midst of it, I mean, it's you know, it's tough.
I think that the finals as well also played a role,
because we forget how close Houston was to actually knocking
off Golden State. Like we we forget about that. We
just see the dominance, but really we're like, Okay, one
team really did close the gap, and if their veteran
point guard was healthy, that gap, like you know, very
well could have been lowsed period, and and so we

(01:30:02):
end up losing that. I don't I don't. I don't
hate that. I got sick of the Warriors because of
everybody jumping on their their fan base, and I did
not like Kevin Durant leaving Oklahoma City and going to
Golden State. But I can't appreciate of them taking Steph
Curry when teams didn't, you know, like Clay in Minnesota.
Raymond Green was the second round pick. You know, they

(01:30:23):
even even getting Jordan Bell last year in the draft
of of making those moves, and you know, Andrea Goodallas
came into his own leg almost fell off at Staples Center.
Nobody wanted him. Yeah, yeah. And I don't think that
Steve Kirr gets enough credit as well, because everybody thinks
anybody could could coach that team. Well, I know he
was out and they continued to to to roll, But

(01:30:44):
I also think it's like a a a mantra, a
mentality that that he was able to bring along from
Popovich and from Jackson and and it's just you can't
you can't duplicate what they did because of how many
places they have hit the jackpot, whether it be with Kerr,
whether it be with those draft picks that they made,

(01:31:04):
and then within free agency, it's it's it's really like
the Triple Crown. And it's the same thing. And to
your point where you said, people forget how close they
were to losing Game seven in Houston. Same on the
Eastern Conference. Everyone says, well, Lebron has been dominating this
conference for so long. We're tired of it. We need
somebody new it. Just okay, you understand that in that

(01:31:25):
game seven, had Boston's backcourt not gone three of a
thousand from the field. The Celtics win that game. I mean,
like like those two games those we were we were
a third quarter and a couple of threes away from
having Celtics rockets in the finals. And none of this
is a conversation, but everyone just wants to label the

(01:31:46):
all were sick and tired of the Warriors, Like who
You would never do that in any other walk of life.
You wouldn't. You wouldn't look at somebody and say, oh
my god, you've already got you've already got one car,
you really need another and it's not your money, don't
worry about it. Like you would never punish somebody for that.
But now we're trying to punish the Golden State Warriors
for figuring it out when other people didn't. Sorry, you,

(01:32:09):
you have options here. You can tank if you want,
go right ahead. There's no guarantees you can go out
and pursue big time free agents. Fine, play your cards
that way. There's no guarantees. They've figured out something that's worked.
It's worked several years in a row. If you don't
like it, figure out a way to beat it. Stop crying.
Do you think the NFL would be better if the

(01:32:31):
Patriots didn't make these super Bowls over the last let's
just say three or four years. I I look at
it as like if you would have put Jacksonville or
Pittsburgh in, like, you know, any of the whether it
be last year or whatever. I don't think that. I mean,
it's almost because New England lost at least this this

(01:32:53):
past year, and and maybe how they came back against
the Falcons. I think that the the NFL wouldn't have
been as good without them in the Super Bowl. Well,
and also the Patriots Golden States figured out a formula, right.
Their formula was they looked at their roster, this is
what works. Um, we add Kevin Durant, we get better.
They figured out a formula, and everyone else is trying
to figure out that formula. You know what the New

(01:33:15):
England formula is. And this is just a fact. You
play in the a f C East, so you're gonna
get a minimum of five wins extra. Okay, So there's
five extra wins on top of whatever you do outside
the division. And then because you pile up and stack
up wins in the division, you're most certainly going to
get at least a first round by So you play
one less game than everybody else, and you're probably gonna

(01:33:36):
end up with home field advantage. So the only road
game you have in the playoffs is a neutral site
game in the super Bowl. You can say, well, that's
not fair, they're play in a bad division. Or you
can say, hey, that formula has worked pretty good for
fifteen to twenty years, so why should we complain about it,
Like if you don't. If you see that that's working,
go and do it too, Like it's the blueprint is there.

(01:33:58):
You just need to figure it out and and and
and make that part of your whatever route that you
want to take to get to a title. Just the
crying about it's not fair and we need to make
it even stop. Go earn the evenness. Don't don't bitch
about it. I'm not a fan of I'm not a
fan of the Golden State Warriors, and and as I said,
I didn't like when Durant ended up going there. But

(01:34:19):
I also look as a fan of a team that
I feel. You know, you have to cash in on
your draft picks, and the Bucks did that with Joannest
Synthetic Gumpo. But they also made a good trade with
Chris Middleton with the Pistons to bring him in. So
there are other ways, you know, for for teams to
do that. And if if you would, hey, if another
team is looking to dump salary and they've got a
you know, a better piece, maybe you can bring them in.

(01:34:40):
So so I get that, and I look at the
NBA Finals, I wasn't sick of the Warriors. Almost rather
would have just not had the Calves in there this year.
Warriors were fine because I felt that they were one
of the top two teams. But at least Boston I
think would have given Golden State a better match. And
here's the other thing. The Warriors made two ballsy moves.
One of them gets talked about a lot. They won
fifty games, and they fired Mark Jackson because they felt

(01:35:01):
like there was a better option out there. They also
traded away Monta Ellis, who was their best player for
a long time on that team, and that was a
move that was ripped by a lot of people. Why
are you trading this guy away? Because they felt like
they had something in Steph Curry and they could maximize
his potential without Monta Ellis. There nobody talks about that move.
Nobody brings that up like those are two ballsy moves

(01:35:22):
they made. They gambled on it and they hit. But
now they're being punished because they hit. It makes no sense.
It's uh. The the the ability to match what Golden
State done does it darn near impossible. There's only so
many few teams to do it. To see it do
so well, Yeah, just gets under the skin of many.
Dan Buyer Jonas knocks in for Doug Gottlieb here on
Fox Sports Trade. If you want to get Dan on

(01:35:43):
Twitter again him at Dan Buyer on Fox Coming up
next year on FSR. Uh, this was one of the
more controversial moments UH in the sports world over the
last week or so, and somebody has acknowledged a giant mistake.
Find out who we're talking about next year on f S.
I'm Dan Buyer, that's Jonas knocks. He is John Ramos

(01:36:04):
The John Ramo Show coming up in about ten minutes.
There may be some that aren't familiar with the John
Ramo Show and what kind of experience it's. It's a
show within the show that is a it's a it's
like a late night theme where John Ramo says the
greatest guests, the greatest musical performers and in so much more. Yeah,

(01:36:26):
it's um, like in an NBA game, you know, during
the time outs, they'll have like performances on the court,
or ll have somebody take a shot. They'll have the
woman come out on the unit cycle with a bunch
of plates on her head. Usually she falls. Um, it's
like that, except much better. And John Ramos produces his
own his own show within the show and he presents

(01:36:48):
it to you. It's all done by the man himself,
Ryan Music, and then John just just basically, uh performs
what Ryan rice. Let's just say that. Let's you know,
like John the star that ends up in you know, shining.
So that comes up in ten minutes or so here
on Fox Sports Radio. Coming up this weekend on the

(01:37:08):
PGA Tour, it's the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands
in Cromwell, Connecticut, a week after the US Open. So
you just drive up to Connecticut. You've got some of
the biggest names in golf there, Jordan's Speed, US Open champion,
Brooks Kepka, Jason Day, Rory mcelroyd, Justin Thomas and so

(01:37:30):
just a great, great field at the TPC River Highlands
and you can see coverage on Golf Channel and CBS
throughout the weekend Golf Channel tomorrow and Friday, also Saturday
and Sunday, by the way, and then on CBS Saturday
and Sunday as well. But it's one of those PGA
Tour events that really gets a strong field. You know,
we get to go down to Tory Pines and check
out you know what they what they do down in Lahoya.

(01:37:53):
And the Travelers Championship another strong field as well. And
now are they going to uh actually have a decent course?
Are they going to let the U s t butcher
This funny that you say that, because there is some
news and you're gonna see some low scores, and in fact,
we're gonna hear from a guy who shot the lowest
score ever on a PGA Tour event in just a
few minutes, because PHILM. Michaelson today has issued an apology
for his actions at the US Open on Saturday. If

(01:38:16):
you remember, Michelson hit a moving ball in the thirteenth hole,
ended up getting a ten, and then explained afterwards how
he meant to do that because it was his way
of what he felt. What he told reporters at the
time was that it was his way of of getting
a better scored. He thought about doing that in the past,
and Saturday was just the day that he ended up

(01:38:36):
doing it. He issued an apology to reporters today via text.
Some of these reporters received this quote. I know this
should have come sooner, but it's taken me a few
days to calm down. My anger and frustration got the
best of me last weekend. I'm embarrassed and disappointed by
my actions. It was clearly not my finest moment, and
I'm sorry. That from Phil Mickelson today from what happened

(01:38:56):
Saturday at the United States Open not a bummer. I
was hoping that he just was so annoyed with the
course that he said, all right, if you're gonna screw
with me, and you're gonna screw with us out here
on one of our major tournaments, and I'm just gonna
go ahead and screw with you, and I'm gonna pretend
like I'm at a nine hole uh mini golf place
with a bucket of beers next to me, because who

(01:39:18):
hasn't done that? And I just felt, and I know
the idea is, well, it's one tournament a year that
they make it difficult. And I get it. I get
that it's US Open tradition and all that stuff, but
why does it have to be a major like that?
Like part of I want to if I'm tuning into
a golf tournament and there are people out there that
we're happy to see the players struggle, because now now

(01:39:38):
I can relate. This looks like me playing golf man
when I'm when I'm turning on golf, I want to
see good golfers, but I want to see bad golf.
I'll go watch myself play at at some course in
Ventura County like I'm not. I don't need to turn
on a major to see that. And that's what bothered me.
And I know you're more You're the bigger golf fan,
and I don't know how you feel about it, but

(01:39:59):
I just want to see eight players play, and it
felt like they chased away their stars to try and
make a course to different It's what ended up happening.
And what the U s g A always says is
that they want to identify the best player and to
do that they try to test all facets of the game.
And I know it sounds very much like coach speak
but they don't want a guy who dominates with the

(01:40:19):
driver to have that much of an edge. They want
they also want you to be able to make putts,
to be in control your golf ball, to be able
to be in control of the golf ball where you're
not just throwing it right at the pin on a
hundred and fifty yards that you've got to end up thinking.
And so they put all these aspects in and try
to develop a very very challenging golf course. And usually
that pushes the line of of of what is playable

(01:40:41):
and what is unplayable. And on Saturday, it ended up
getting to be unplayable. Now, as for Phil Michelson's actions
on this, what I think happened was Phil and now
you hear this apology, Phil realized that he messed up
as soon as that he did. He did it because
he felt like, oh my goodness, I actually went through
with this. How is this going to look? Because you

(01:41:03):
heard two different stories, Jonas. What I thought was amazing
is I heard so many in the golfing world in
the media be so critical of Phil Mickelson, and outside
of the golf media, everybody kind of got a chuckle,
a laugh and understood like it was this this golf world.
These reporters and those in the in the tight knit
world of golf fanatics were up in arms, but most

(01:41:24):
everybody else is just kind of like, hey, you know what,
I don't blame you for for making a shot like that. Yeah,
that's the traditionalist I golf kind of it always has
felt a little bit like baseball, to where you know,
unwritten rules, don't flip your bat after a home run,
don't don't, don't take a slow walk to first base.

(01:41:45):
And meanwhile, they don't realize that a lot of these players,
like a Latin born player from Cuba or the Dominican
or Puerto Rico, they grow up playing with flair. That's
how they grew up playing that way. But there's this
rigid sense of this is our sport. Don't don't tarnish
the sanctity of our sport. But I mean, you were

(01:42:05):
a spot on. Everyone saw it and just said, oh,
that's pretty funny, two stroke penalty. You even came on
with me on Sunday morning and we're talking about how Yeah,
Phil Nicholson tried to say that it was strategy, but
we both kind of acknowledged probably wasn't strategy. There wasn't
really anything strategic there because he did miss the putt
right afterwards and he butchered that one. It was clearly

(01:42:27):
a guy who was piste off and he was frustrated
and he lost his cool in that moment. It's interesting
to hear to to hear comments as well from other
players about Phil's uh antics. The players who don't want
to who want to be critical of Phil aren't putting
their name on the record. You hear a lot of
unnamed sources, but you hear other players saying, you know what.
Beef Johnson, who played with him on Saturday, was laughing

(01:42:48):
about it. Jim Furick, us Open winner in two thousand three,
who made the cut this past weekend at Shinnecock I
had a conversation with him that you can hear on
Fox Sports Radio dot com. But he addressed what happened
with Michelson Saturday. Here's a portion of that interview. Oh,
I think we've all hit a frustration level. I played
hockey with one on Sunday on number five where I
kept going back and forth over a green and um,

(01:43:10):
you know, we've all had that boiling point and frustration.
I think, yeah, you think about It's not something that
it was. He had time to think about. It was
a decision made pretty quickly, and I'm sure, given that opportunity,
wouldn't do it again. But uh, you know, I guess
as you said, I found it interesting when I when
I finished my round, I had a couple of the
writers asked me if I had heard what happened to

(01:43:31):
Phil and I, you know, no idea what they were
talking about. I was kind of nervous. He's a friend.
I was wondered if he got hurt or you know,
what happened. And and they showed me the video and uh,
you know, interesting, not something you expect, um, but it happened.
I guess as you said. He issued an apology, and uh,
you know, I've I'm actually very surprised that, uh, everyone

(01:43:53):
keeps talking about it as much as they do. I know, uh,
you know, there's there's different outlets and venues where you know,
it's become a hot topic of conversation, and um, you know,
it is what it is. It's over. I think he
he issued his apology and uh we'll just move on.
And his apology it was issued today. Yeah, Andy North

(01:44:15):
was on ESPN, what a joke Andy North to Oh
you know there was kids watching. I think he really
damaged his reputation with kids. No, he didn't. I'll bet
he's more relatable now than he ever has been in
his career, because that's what everybody does. I actually think
his popularity went up because of that moment. Everyone says, Hey,
this guy's got a personality. Then they show him walking

(01:44:35):
by on the greens and he's petting some fan who
had a duck hat on, like a lucky duck hat.
Like I think. I think his popularity has never been
higher based on Hey, I'm just like the rest of
you guys moment. Golfers are not relatable to to to
normal people. Find me a golfer who grew up on
the mean streets who had real rough growing up. They

(01:44:55):
don't exist, and if they are, there's like two or
three on the tour. Maybe that showcased Phil Mickelson. Hey,
I get frustrated, like you guys, I do the same
thing as you guys do. I think it's popularity actually
went up because of that. The over dramatics that he
tarnished the sports such crap. He Phil knows about his
image and that's why I also think you heard the
report of Phil was willing to uh just qualify himself.

(01:45:18):
It was up to the U s g A. Well,
that's that's putting it on the U s g. A.
By the way, that's not like if Phil really felt
that he did something wrong, guess what, he wouldn't have
played on Sunday. He could have easily withdrawn and said,
you know what, I should have done this not but no,
he also then put the onus on and then he
comes out with this statement which also covers another base.

(01:45:38):
It's like, I Phil knows his image. He really does,
and there's there's something to it. And and to your
point of yeah, he probably came out more relatable to
the fans than too than anything else in that whole situation.
It was one of the rare moments where a player
got frustrated and did something that's only going to increase
their popularity. When bo Jackson would strike out, he'd break
a bat over his n't yeah yeah, like you forgot

(01:46:01):
all about the strikeout. It now turned into what a
badass that guy as he broke a bat over his
He okay, what about the picture just struck him out
like never mind it. So this this is only going
to help the guy's popularity. Well, I thought it was fine.
It's gonna be the lasting image of the U S Open.
People are gonna forget that Brooks kept going back to back.
They're still going to think of thirteen and what Filled did.
And yet crazy as it is, even with him changing

(01:46:23):
stories mid Saturday and this and that and now with
this apology. Yeah, it seems like Phil comes out of head. Hey,
Jim Furrek didn't seem to mind, just said, yeah, I
get it. In The players who had to face it
as well didn't seem to mind either, Dan Buyer, Jonas Stocks,
and for Doug got Levi Here on Fox Sports Radio.
Coming up next, it is the moment that you've all
been waiting for, and it's the moment that John has
been tweeting about for almost twenty four hours. One of

San Diego in the bottom of the six The eight

having to spend time with your kids now that they're
off school. I know I'm wanting about having to do
another show with Ryan Music. Also, today is National Vanilla
Milkshake Day. Guys, Dan Jonas, you guys have a good

going up? John? It really looking forward to doing another
show with you. John. Okay, let's start with some basketball.
It's that time of the year where we are seeing
some trades in the nb A. That's right, John, did
you see the Hornets traded Dwight Howard earlier? Yes? I did,

(01:50:04):
And that reminds you of my favorite memory of Dwight
Howard on the Lakers. Really, what's that, whi It's the
day he left. Would you rather win the Super Bowl
or a high school state championship in golf? We discussed
that next on the John Rommel Show, Little Brothers. All

(01:50:26):
you put again your favorite sports? Yeah? Everybody given up
for def Lepper? Yes, how did you come up with

(01:50:46):
that name? Why? Don't worry. We'll give you that and
a lot more in our in depth interview coming up
later on in the show. Don't forget about tonight's poll question.
We really want to know your thoughts, so make sure
you vote. Plus coming up a little bit later on,
I will give you my final NBA mock Draft. I
put a lot of work into this, and with the
draft tomorrow, I want to put out this final draft

(01:51:09):
mock draft deal and it's for the second round of draft.
The Pelicans trade will shock you. But right now I
want to bring it Dan and Jones to talk about
some of the biggest stories in the world of sports. Guys. Look,
I heard you guys talking about Kauai letter earlier today
and that he wants out of San Antonio. He's the

(01:51:31):
Here's the thing about Kauai, So what if he's averaged
twenty points a game, He's won an NBA Tanno and
was the NBA Finals MVP. Let's just take that out
of the equation. What has he done? Oh? Nothing? Everyone
is talking about Lebron James and where he is going
to end up in free agency. Look hear me out
on this one, Dan and Jonas take away his three

(01:51:52):
NBA titles, his eight straight tips to strips to the
or his strips, his eight straight trips to the finals,
and four NBA titles m vps. What has he done
I mean stripped? Yeah, not much apparent. People are still
trying to figure out what Todd Brady is going to retire.
Here's what I want to know. Forget about his five
Super Bowl wins, four Super Bowl MVPs and three regular

(01:52:14):
season m vps. What has he done? Like a lot? Yeah?
Take that away? Should NBA players play for free? Friend out?
Next on the John Ramos Show, Super Superner the new

(01:52:34):
super Pro Frisby from Wammo. Oh yes you know this
one right. Let's here for def Leppard. I don't know
what it is, but every time I hear def Leppard,
the drums just always feels like it's missing. I'm really
looking forward to that in depth ode of you don't forget.

(01:52:55):

tonight's poll question, and of course make sure to use
the hashtag the John Rama Show. Also coming up later on,
we have exclusive m J j J or Lebron. But
right now it's time to debut you a brand new

(01:53:15):
segment here on The John Ramas Show. Dan Jonas, I
think you guys are really going to enjoy this. Oh.
Paul George is considering taking a Max Steal to stay
with the Oklahoma City Thunder Paul George, are you stupid?
Julio Jones is holding out for a new contract with

(01:53:35):
the Atlanta Falcons even though he still has three years
left on his current deal. Julio Jones, are you stupid?
The Phoenix Signs are expected to take DeAndre and Aton
number one overall today. Can I get some Atons on myself?

(01:53:56):
He's gonna make a ton of money in the NBA.
They're gonna take a number one. Were all the NBA
draft Phoenix Suns? Are you stupid? That's all the time
we have for you right now the Tonight show. A

(01:54:16):
big thanks to everyone the Twitter and using hashtag John.
Also thanks to def Leppard for me Tonight's a guest.
They were great, weren't they. Sorry, guys, we'll have to
get to your interview later on, and Ryan, I'll catch
you on the back side. That was hysteria. When you

(01:54:38):
take a couple of weeks off. That was like when
the waiter is carrying a bunch of drinks on a
tray and one of them he leans a little one
of them falls off, and so the other side falls off,
but he keeps walking and eventually gets to the table.
But he's only got one left on the tray. Why

(01:54:59):
did you get a least one there? John's right, by
the way, hashtag the John Romo Show. Alright, a news show?
Are you stupid? I don't know how many m v
ps and NBA titles Lebron has, but you don't have much.
By the way, if if when DeAndre Ayton is selected,

(01:55:20):
and if they pronounce his name Aton, you know that
they were listening to the show. That's the only the
only person that's ever pronounced it that way? Did you
know that John and Suzanne Honeymoon didn't Dayton? Ohio marks
all right? Dan Byron jonasknocks him for Doug Gottlieb here

(01:55:42):
on Fox Sports Radio, U do you want to let
you know? We are brought to you by Farmers Protecting

smooth radio, just tweet John Ramos at J S Ramo
zero six and John, what's the hashtag again? The John
Ramo Show? Okay, um, all right up next, Dan, one

(01:56:25):
of the great quarterbacks of all time, talks about a
very controversial issue in the world of football. Find out
what he means next year on FSR. I'm Dan Buyer.
That's Jonas Knocks. He is John Ramos, fresh off of
a John Ramo Show, Jonas. The reviews are in and

(01:56:45):
it's uh, it's just been positivity all around for that
John Ramo Show. Just magni Tom Looney, Uh, Fox Sports
Radio legend Tom Looney. I know a lot of people
are big fans of Tom. I am not actually uh
terrible human being. But he he called in and uh,
he loved it, loved the John Ramos loved it. It's

(01:57:06):
only been going on for eighteen months, but hey, you're
the first one today. Hey, let's let's let's get to
some of the top headlines in the world of sports.
As Steve T. Sager fills us in with the press,
what's going on? Steve, Tom is a big fan of Tom.
You forgot about that? Yes, yes, we all love Tom.

(01:57:29):
By the way, Oakland A's now up eight one and
basses loaded at San Diego. Does this mean anything? There?
You go? Yeah, what are we stupid? Are you stupid?
You're ready for alt Magnissa. Let's start with the football world.
As Brett Farve at an interview in The Daily Mail

(01:57:50):
where he says he supports a proposed Illinois bill that
would make it illegal for kids under twelve to play
tackle football. The Dave Dorson actor prevents CTE does not
have enough support to ask per the article, that five
once federal legislation. Quote the state level is a start,
but we have to adopt this plan and do it
all together. The body, the brain, the skull is not
developed in your teens and single digits. I cringe end quote.

(01:58:13):
I will say this true story. I had more fun
playing flag football than I ever did tackle football. Oh,
it was a blast when you were a kid. Tackle
the helmets that don't fit, the gross mouthguard and the
Oklahoma drills that you would have to do Oklahoma drills
as a kid. Oh yeah, like when you're twelve and thirty.
That was That was like the first week of Pads

(01:58:34):
Bowl in the Ring Bowl. In the ring that was
my favorite tackling drill. And it was basically, there's there's
one guy in the middle and then you've got six
teammates around you, and and they would go. If you
were the person in the middle, the coach would yell
out of number, and that person's number would run in
to attack you. It hits you head up, and so
you were just constantly colliding, just head on head, helmet

(01:58:58):
on helmet, and it was it was really on but
you didn't feel all that great amazing that one. Meanwhile,
NFL levy On Bell hasn't been doing any football work
this offseason with the Steelers his own training boxing cardio,
but quote, I want to stay off my joints in
the off season as much as possible. That could have
probably put put which joints anyway. His quote to ESPN,

(01:59:22):
I don't really compare myself to a lot of other
running backs. That's no offense to any other running back.
Just the fact that I can see and avoid hits.
It's not like when I get the ball thirty five times,
I'm really taking thirty car crashes. Ah what John is
Levan Bell have another quote? As it just came in
right now off the hot press. There it is tooke

(01:59:45):
it out, man, that was off the hot press. It
was that was that was actually you knew that that
was live because they actually cut off John's mike in
order to h in order to say that. It's that
delay when you go live overseas. I think that's what
that was. Nf L dot Com headline Bill O'Brien believes
Texans are in a good place right now. The Texans

(02:00:05):
head coach started this year signing a contract extension, got
a friend to join the Texans as general managers, star
players are coming back from injury. He tells the Houston Chronicle.
I love working here, I love the way we're set
up right now, and I really enjoy coaching the players.
I say that every year, but it's true. They're in
a good place because it's the off season. They can't
lose a game, by the way, true story right now.

(02:00:30):
NFL dot Com headline to follow predicting one first time
pro bowler for each team. You want to talk about offseason, Phil,
that's good. Yeah, that's your hot head. That's really good.
That's probably taken from a two hour NFL Network show,
Steve Good, producer. Have you seen the NFL network ratings

(02:00:52):
in the season, Steve, unbelievable. Steve's just knee capping the
NFL Network right now. That's unbelieving. Our beloved producer found
this story from Bleacher Report. Quotes from Hall of Famer
Tara Owens saying he's not influencing Julio Jones. Others are
concerned about their relationship. I have no idea where all
of this is coming from. Owen says, I have nothing

(02:01:14):
to do with Julio except training. Of course, Jones wants
his contract upgraded with three years. Were mating as some
think that's a t o influence Tara Owens, It's it's funny.
He kind of just stays out of the headlines of
the lineman, you know, get out there and pressed. It's
a second time we've heard that today. But Dan, by
the way, I gotta welcome a couple of people to
the family. Um as John would say, DeAndre Aton Um

(02:01:38):
and Marvin Bagley Jr. And also jay Z. Welcome to
the Puma family. Oh yeah, everybody's. Everybody's lining up for
the Pumas. You've never left, never left. I'm loyal, I'm
not a slut. Hey, this is the Doug Gottlieb Show
on Fox Sports Radios. Don't want to shoots. The one
