(00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Boom, What Up America,
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio Today, coming to you
from the Queen City of Cincinnati. There are, in fact
two queen cities, one Queen City of Sincinnati. The other

(00:43):
one is Carolina, where they're licking their wounds, uh because
the Panthers got blown out. John Middlecoff will join us.
Former NFL Scout three Now podcast host. He'll join us
in about fifteen minutes. See if he agrees with my
my dissertation. Bradley Chubb, who's had an outstanding beginning to
his career with the Denver Broncos, on pace to set

(01:05):
the all time rookie sack mark held by Javon Kurse
fourteen point five. He'll join us in one hour. Jay
Glazer will join us in an hour and twenty minutes.
Why why why isn't Dez Bryant ready to go? Des
Bryant will not play the game. I'm gonna getting a
chance to call on radio with Brian Baldinger on Compass
Radio Networks. Um, so the Saints are gonna come in

(01:27):
play in the cold like Look, if there's a question
about the Saints, it's always been can you play in
the cold outside of the Dome. And they're coming off
a huge win over the Rams, taken on a Bengals
team that won't have a j Green. So yeah, they
will have Joe Mixon, they love Geo Bernard, they will

(01:48):
have Tyler Boyd, but they won't have and they're working
through what looks like a healthy offensive vine. We'll see
if they have Vantes perfect. We got a lot to
get to. Jay Glazier will join us in an hour
and five team minutes plus we'll ask him about Levan Bell.
Joel Klatt will join us in the third hour of
the show. That's five twenty on the East to twenty

(02:08):
on the West. We'll talk about college football where Ohio
State is in. You can't lose you you you get
no more mulligans, no more breakfast balls. As they take
on Michigan State, who I would guess I would I
would throw out, there's the most overrated team in the country.
That's Michigan State. Utterly and completely unimpressive in so many

(02:28):
key opportunities. But we'll see this weekend. So uh, we
have my picks, and uh they will be better than
last week because it couldn't be any worse. This is
the Doug Otlieb Show. Hey, am I gonna get credit
for Thursday Night football as well? I just this is
a question Rye Music. You know you tweaked me because
I knew I picked Monday Night Monday correctly. I get

(02:50):
no credit from Monday. Then, of course you try and
change it on air and edit it as we go,
as I had the forty niners. Then now only did
I say Pittsburgh would win Pittsburgh recover? I said Pittsburgh
big Lee. Isn't that what I said? Yes, that is
what I said yesterday. That is in fact correct. Thank you,
thank you. I appreciate I just you know, it's like
I look at my record and while it's good, while

(03:11):
it's above five hundred, and if people follow my picks,
they're in the money. My picks in reality, Like if
you go with every pick, we're in the zone. That's
what we're doing. But the last my staff does not
want to go back and judge Thursday night and Monday
night games because apparently they don't count. I don't know,
I don't understand that one. It's like b y U basketball.

(03:33):
Suddenly they're gonna go back and redact some my wins.
All right, let's get to last night. UM, I don't
want to go overreact and tell you Carolina stinks or
that Pittsburgh Pittsburgh is awesome, but the context of last night,
Carolina stunk and Pittsburgh was awesome. It's Thursday night home
team has a distinct advantage, and this was the explosive

(03:55):
offense we thought we would see from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
It should also be mentioned this is really really important
as part of the point I want to make the
style that the Steelers play. Yes, they've been able to
run the football with James Connor a lot, but the
style having that amount of talent at wide receiver and

(04:16):
having two pass catching tight ends who caught touchdown passes
last night, that's the style that seems to be one
that will play better in two thousand eighteen. Then, for example,
the Carolina Panthers, who not only can run it, but
also can run it with their quarterback. That just is
the rules are set up to help Pittsburgh more. But

(04:37):
I'm getting the feeling that James Conner is starting to
get Dak Prescott like deity status. James Conner is having
a good year, and people want to point out that
James Conner is having a better year than Levian Bell
had last year. And statistically you can point to several
key factors that are right. But let's go back to

(04:57):
yesterday and lend me edgupicate you on the National Football League.
You can no longer take gross stats. You just can't.
You can't do yardage well, it's and it's a joke
that the NFL does the best defenses based upon the
yardage allowed. That's not the best defense. How are you
in the red zone? How are you on third down?

(05:20):
What's your turn off? Marchant? That's what it is. And
you could say that James Conner is having a better year,
and you can point to but you know who else
is having a better year? Everybody. I've heard people make
the statement before last night that Cam Newton should be
in m v P consideration, because if you look at

(05:42):
the year he had when he won the m v P,
he's having statistically a better year this year. And they're right,
here's a problem with that. Everybody's having a better year
this year. All right. You're like, oh, yeah, I've I
forgot about that part. It's kind of a big part.

(06:06):
It's kind of a big part. Kind of matters. It's
kind of matters, you know. I mean, that's like saying,
how much more of your house is worth now than
I can't believe how much more we're paying for houses
than our parents paid for houses. It's like, yeah, everything
it's called inflation. Everything has become inflated. He can't give

(06:28):
bear anything to five years ago, ten years ago. The
only thing that seems to stay the same as the
cost of a Honda accord. That's the only thing. Everything
else goes up, everything else, you know, Like I went
to Blaze Pizza. We I think my family is addicted

(06:49):
to Blaze Pizza. Lebron James becomes a billionaire. We're a
big reason why. And I felt like I got a
good deal getting my daughter, like she all she wants
is a cheese pizza with extra sauce. I love the sauce,
extra sauce. And you get down it's like six after tax,
and I'm looking at the cheese pizza and it's small
as it's okay. And then I think back when I

(07:09):
was a kid. I used to hop over the fence
at test to night school and go down the street
watched the Cubs play at Chicago Joe's Pizza and it
was two dollars and fifty cents for two huge slices
of pizza and a coke. So I could sit there
and tell you that, you know, my house is worth
more or my car costs more, but everything costs more.

(07:32):
And that's all that's happened in the NFL. It's just
statistical inflation. And we're sitting here telling based upon the
amount of money James Conner makes, is it more cost
effective to have a James Connor and a couple other
running backs that it is a levy on bell. That's
a fascinating argument. But this is where he's like Dak Prescott.

(07:54):
Dak Prescott had that incredible year two years ago. We
won thirteen games, and I was telling people then at
a different radio and at work, but still tell people,
then hey, you know, you know Tony Roman was a
better quarterback because Tony Romo with that same team would
have won fourteen games and they could have won a
playoff game because well, because he's better, he's more accurate,
he throws guys open, he's got better feet in the pocket,

(08:17):
he's just you know, and he's got years of experience,
far better. So this idea that Jane, Look, if James
Conner is on the free agent market and Levan bells
on the free agent market at the end of this year,
if all things are, you have no who do you
think is worth more money? Levian Bell. He's one of
top five running backs in the game. That's not to
take away from the James Conner story. Being a cancer

(08:38):
survivor or or you know, always taking the high road
and all these l Bell questions, or being ridiculously productive
and probably taking on more of the workload than even
he was prepared for in this offseason. Doesn't take away
from any of that. But if you think for one second,
and I don't love the logic behind Levian's hold out,

(09:01):
I think it's money he'll never make back, and it's
a season that he could be a part of, or
could not be a part of, but a chance for
the Steelers to legitimately compete for and win a Super Bowl.
And I think all of that gets lost lost in
the Hey, I'm gonna change and fight this system that
you're not gonna change. You're not gonna fight. You got
offered a big, long term deal to stay in Pittsburgh
and you felt like it was under your value. Uh,
you game of chicken, They didn't blink and you end

(09:23):
up sitting. That's what this is about. But instead of
James Conner story, Levian Bell story we've lost track of.
Levian Bell is a great running back. And if you
want to say that James Conner is having a better year,
most people are. You know why because it's statistical inflation.
It's football on its stats on steroids, because how the

(09:47):
games played more stabs. Uh, the pace of game is quicker,
so there's more plays, more opportunities. The rules favor the
offense far more so even then even last year, and
that's gonna cause you to be more effective. So this

(10:10):
is not a bash James Conner. And I don't even
I'm not even a Levy on Bell, dude. But the
but the Steelers changed their offense is what they fired
Todd Haley and the Steelers are scoring more points a
game a game last year. They're crewing what is it,

(10:31):
forty two more yards a game. Their pass yards are
up last year at the exact same time pass yard
yards passing per game. I mean, assume me last year
two seventy four this year. And by the way, they're
running the ball at about the exact same rate they

(10:52):
were last year, and they're the past game is up
without Levyan Bell, Who's a better pass catcher out of
the backfield than uh than James Connor. I'm not telling
you James Connor stinks. I'm not telling you Dak Prescott stinks.
I'm telling you that Tony Romo was a better quarterback
than Dak Prescott, and that levy On Bell is a
better running back at this point in his career then

(11:14):
James Connor. It's inflation. Former rnnevel scout John Mitokoff joins
the show. I'll ask him if Connor is in the
neighborhood of how good levy On Bell uh would be.
That's up coming next. But first, you know, it's not
smart making the lottery the centerpiece of your retirement plan

(11:39):
um also not smart to use the picks of Ryan
Music and John ramos Uh to bet on for your retirement.
But don't put your four o one k on what
they pick because it's generally wrong. You know it is
smart well one going with my picks, to going with

former Scout in the Nation. Football Leaky joins us on
the Doug Gottlieb Show. Was last night more about pittsburgher Carolina,

(13:54):
more about Pittsburgh. Just they they've really got a rolling
I mean, they've been a longstanding juggernaut in this league
and they're kind of flexing their muscles again. I think
you gotta be careful, Doug on the Thursday night games.
What once you get, especially past November, it's just once
you get into week ten, eleven, twelve, the road team.
I know it's an easy, built in crutch, but I

(14:16):
do think it is fair. It's really really hard. Uh,
Carolina had been playing really well. They just kind of
ran into a bus all last night in the game,
just you know, seven seven, and then the next nap
Cam throws that crazy pick and then it's snowballed and
it was wasn't even a game from there. Yeah, And
and that's the kind of mistake that Cam. You know

(14:37):
that he's look, there's there there are a lot of
good teams that have to play with the leader, play
playing close games, and and Cam's want of like he
you can't get down two touchdowns and expecting to bring
you back with their arm, that everything has to be
kind of on schedule correct. But when he's on he
is as good as any you know in that playoff

(14:58):
game last year. I'm not the big as Cam guy,
but I do acknowledge that when he's on, J's as
potent as any quarterback in recent memory, as good as anyone.
But last night we saw bad Cam. And again I'm
gonna give him specifically a little bit of the benefit
of the doubt. It's really hard, short week, flying across

(15:19):
the country. They have been rolling, and I really think
that pick just was classic old Cam just derailed everything.
And then Pittsburgh Antonio Brown, I mean, playing at as
higher level as you can. James Conner, what a fantastic story.
He looks awesome, Rockinsburger, sneaky having like he's not gonna

(15:39):
win the m v P or Anythingbody's having pretty good year. Okay.
The Roethlisberger thing is interesting because it does help my
kind of overall argument, right, and we heard from people saying, well, like, look,
you know, Cam Newton, his stats are better now than
the m v P year. And the reason is everybody's
stats are better, right, Like it's it's statistical inflation. Okay,
so let me let me go to James Connor with that.

(15:59):
I think the James Connor story is amazing, and if
you want to say as far as being cost effective,
he's way more cost effective than Levian Bell is. But
but the idea that Levian Bell wouldn't have this type
of or an even more productive season if he was
playing is kind of laughable. Like Levian Bell is a
freak elite back that somehow, somehow we lose track of

(16:21):
that a little bit because either we love the James
Conner story or we don't like Levian Bell holding out
for more money. Is that is that? Is that a
fair take? Yeah? I think it's like a combination of everything.
There's Levian Bell in a vacuum is a better player
in James Conner. So if Levian Bell had been playing
all this year and been locked him as he has
been in the last couple of years, he would be

(16:42):
doing everything James is doing and more. But I also
think on the flip side, it shows, hey, Levian, you
had fourteen and a half million dollars that on a
single season, you would have been the highest paid player
in the league of your position. It's not a position
where it's you're not left tackle, you're not a corner.
You are very pretty easy to reply. Lakes see. To me, Doug,
the difference is it's the one position for the most

(17:05):
part that I can find a dude off waivers. I
can find a guy late in the draft and get
I mean of production at so many other at pass rusher,
at you know, at offensive tackle, at corner. The drop
off is like Grand Canyon wise, where running back it's
I can find James Conner that again not Levian Bell,

(17:26):
but is having a Pro Bowl season. I can't just
find Pro bowl other positions. That to me, that's the
that's the problem for the Levian Bell side of the argument.
So he shows up, he signs the paper, he's under contract.
I don't know. I mean, do you think he does?
I see, I don't know. I don't know. I don't
think he doesn't. He's gone this far. What's the point, um,

(17:50):
I don't know. A couple million dollars true, but clearly
he's already showed money. Isn't like it's the big picture.
He thinks he's which I think he's wrong. Uh thinks
he's getting this enormous contract if he just takes off
this year. Again, I'm not saying I know, I'm just
I'm starting to get the feeling I just don't even
think he's ever gonna show back up. Let's say he
does show up, what do you do if your Pittsburgh

(18:11):
do you play him? I mean, because your chemistry seems
to be really good. I know I wouldn't if I
was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan, I would not want him
to come back because it's really rolling. If I was
the general manager, it at least at the beginning of
the season, it didn't feel like they wanted him to
come back. Now, maybe they'd be more open to it
now because you know they're trying to make a super

(18:31):
Bowl run. But is he gonna come back and just
be Mr hard worker? You know, Mr first guy of
the white room. Like they think that they have a
pretty good thing going. I mean, even the backup running
backs look pretty good last night. I'd be fine with
him not coming back. If he does come back, I mean,
you're gonna take him. What are you gonna do? Suspend
him or just not allow him to play? I think

(18:52):
it's kind of a tough spot. Now, you could probably
justify if he comes back. I don't know the exact
like cb A language. Could you just cut him or
whatever and just make him a free agent right now.
I mean, I think every option they have to with
every win, they have to be talking about every potential option,
because one thing is clear. They don't one need him now. Uh,

(19:15):
he would help. No one disputes that he's not his talent.
His talent would help. But but that doesn't always right.
And and is he in shape? You know? Like, look,
we all think that a guy just all of a
sudden comes back says I'm ready, puts on a helmet
and shoulder pads, Like is he in shape? What's one
thing I always that's the one thing I'll give Antonio Brown.

(19:36):
He can kind of be a pain, But when the
whistle blows and when the game starts, the dude balls,
and the dude plays really hard, and for whatever reason
his teammates seem to like him a little more. Again,
he's he's out there. But sometimes Levy On the question
is like, God, is he all in? Is he really
feeling this? I don't know if I'd risk that right
now for Pittsburgh because I could be thinking, why couldn't

(19:59):
I win the Uh? When the FC? You know, but
I have as good a chance as any I mean,
it's a New England's owned me, but their teams, you know,
talent wise, not as crazy. We've we've gone on the
road before and beat Kansas City. We're not scared of
San Diego or l A. Uh why couldn't they win
the fight? Yeah, they play l A in two weeks.

(20:19):
That's on the in December two on their home doing
an NFL game. Yes, I'm doing so, I'm doing Saints Bengals.
I want to ask about that John MIDDLECOF three Now podcast.
It's like the best game, right, I know it is? Okay,
So a bunch of stuff here. Um, what do you
think of the Dez thing with New Orleans? Kind of
similar thing, like they kind of got a roll in
and they've been doing it with Michael Thomason a whole

(20:42):
not a whole lot else right, Ted Ginn gets hurt
And I don't know what you think of Ted Gain,
although he's better now than he used to be in
terms of consistency of catching a football. But you know
they're they're doing kind of smoking mirrors. And now you
bring in a guy who like, look, I don't love
Dez Bryant, but for minimum for a million dollars, there's
as my number two. And what's really number three threat.

(21:04):
I kind of like it. At first. I didn't because
like most of the country last week, I helicoptered in
on their season. I mean I watched the Saints, but
not like start to finish all their games and you go, god,
I I came away from that game not why would
you need des Bryant, And then you kind of really
dive in and go, jeez, they don't really have a
number two wide receiver. It feels like they do because

(21:25):
they spread the ball around to the running backs. Kamar
catches the ball a lot, but the next highest receiver
was was what like Ted Ginn and that other dude,
the rookie Hill that had twelve catches, and they don't
have another productive wide receiver. Now I do think they also,
you know, it's not very much money if it doesn't work, Like, hey, Dees,
this is on you. If you can't shape end us

(21:47):
this organization with Drew Brees and Sean Payton and this offense,
then we'll just get rid of you in a couple
of weeks. If you if you're any sort of problem,
and you have to give us everything from everything we
need specifically, like in the red zone, I saw Sean
Payton said, we need him in the red zone, we
need him on third down like that, you have an
unreal opportunity now, I think I also saw Sean Payton

(22:08):
said he's a little bit overweight, which would be normal, right,
he hasn't, he's been working out on his own. But
he to me, Daz has a lot to prove. You know,
it's not like but but it's a but it's a
good opportunity for him because if he shows that he
cannot derail, he cannot deray, he doesn't derail a winner.
He shows that he can be a number two and
number three threat and except less targets if he shows

(22:29):
that he can block down field. Like yeah, by the way,
anytime somebody says the guy's five point pounds overw you
know that means he's ten pounds one right, But I mean,
is he so he's gonna address this weekend? I take it. No,
he's not. He's not gonna. Okay, so you're might You're right,
he might be like twelve fifteen pounds overweight. He need
that week SNA. But but but a good a good

(22:53):
like a good test for for the Saints, a team
that everyone says like man if it's in the Dome.
But if it's not, the Bengals don't have their best player,
but they are at home. Uh, mixing is back healthy, Tyler,
Tyler boy is gonna have to slide over the number one.
Like this is not a great or maybe even very
good Bengals team, but it's a great opportunity for a

(23:15):
Bengals team off of by more healthy against the Saints
team that no one believes can win in any sort
of cold weather. Yeah, but like you said, I mean
that environment. It's just kind of I've been to that
stadium before when I was scouting. It's just a tough area.
Uh that that team with a J. Green. That's a massive,
massive loss. But their defensive line is really good. Their

(23:38):
front seven has played really well whenever I've watched them
this season that they're to me, they're pretty talented. Now
a big part of their whole deal was a J
was having a fantastic season. So that's a that's a
big loss. But I I do think that, you know,
New Orleans coming off a massive win, there is let
down potential. But if you are and I do believe this,

(23:58):
like I think the Saints are Bowl level team and
if you're a super Bowl level team, like you handle
business even if it's ugly. You know, whatever you have
to do to win this game. The score is meaningless
after last week. Just find a way to win this game.
Colder weather, outdoors, a solid AFC. I mean, the Bengals
are looking at it like we're gonna be a wild card.
You know, we're a playoff level team. So if if

(24:20):
they were to win this game, they would be what
six and three? Hell, they'd still be in position for
the division Doug Alive Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
Did you hear what Marcus Peters had to say about
Sean Payton? I did. I didn't think Sean Payton really
said that much. He just said we liked the match up.
It's not like he said you Marcus Peters thinks. What

(24:41):
do you think about Mark Marcus Peters saying you know, well,
you know, uh, basically, we'll see you again. I can't
you know, we'll see you again. I got something for you.
I mean, I get it to me. It's like, hey, Marcus,
I like you, and I really liked you a couple
of years ago as a player. You're pretty hit or
miss right now. I think Rodda Rande said it pretty
well a couple of weeks ago when they were playing

(25:02):
up in Seattle. Like, let's not get it twisted. He
gives up as many plays as he makes. Now he
makes some big time plays. But Marcus, you just got destroyed.
Like they just kept coming after you. And I I look,
Michael Thomas. Michael Thomas is really good. But it's not.
I think Michael Thomas is a burner, right, like Michael
Thomas is not. You can't run. Yeah, he's like a

(25:24):
four or five eight guy. You know, he's not flying.
Marcus has not played as well the last couple of years. Uh.
He had the big playoff game where he made some
plays last year in Kansas City. But it's like Marcus,
and people aren't scared of you anymore. I mean kind
of carrying himself like Revus. Marcus is also has to
be a little careful. He is heading into a free
agent year. Uh. You know, it's like he kind of

(25:45):
gotta acting like this again. I get standing up for
yourself and even blasting back a little bit. But I
don't know, man, he just got worked. Speaking of getting worked,
the Redskins got worked. They're still in first place by.
You want to talk about a team that nobody and
I know they've had they had a ton of injuries too. Um,
but Jordan Reid's clear to play. What do we make

(26:07):
of the Redskins after an Atlanta team that it's had
a litany of injuries on defense just came in and
mopped the field with them. Well, I think it does
speak to Atlanta. I mean, they're a team I might
put a decent amount of money on this weekend. I
think they're rolling. I mean they look pretty good. I'm
not writing off the Redskins just yet, because if Alex
doesn't play well, their team can just look terrible. And

(26:28):
he's had some games this year where he just looks
pretty blow. I don't know quite what to make of him.
I don't After last week and they were one of
the game, they were the only morning game I got
in the Bay Area, I was pretty I mean, how
could you not be very unimpressed? I started thinking of God,
in no way this team is making hold on, hold on,
you don't have direct team, you don't have the package. No,

(26:50):
I'm just a because I I watched you know, the
two Bay Area teams, and I usually get two games
I got two red zone. You know, I don't I
get enough, but you know, I get exactly the game
I want, and then I can go back and Rewatch.
I can't. I just I know you can go back,
and Rewatch. I just can't believe that you don't have
the package. I just well because for the most part, Doug,

(27:12):
you really I only get screwed on the occasional morning
game on you know, you know, you know it's an
underrated you know what's you know, it's an underrated state
for for getting. Where you don't need the package is
Connecticut because you get and I know, and I know
what you're saying, where you always have the afternoon game.
Some morning games usually get kind of the pick of
the litter, right because of the area team. So I

(27:35):
get to see both conferences and you know, basically every
team come through, so I get a pretty good idea
right when you When I was in Connecticut, you get
Jets and Giants and Patriots, so you kind of get
you kind of get all. You kind of get a
smore disport of them. And honestly, if they were all
playing at the same time you got them, you could
get them all and you'd be like this is the greatest,
and then whatever the other time thoughts are, and then

(27:56):
you know, now you have Thursday, and you got you
got Sunday night, and you got Monday, so you don't
need it as much. It's one of the things the
NFL has done kind of uh, kind of under the raiders. Sorry,
sorry to call you. I don't see, I see. I
don't feel like I like it with the NBA, you
needed a little more. With football. I never really feel
like I missed anything beside maybe one sweet National like
a FD game that I might get screwed out of

(28:18):
that I can always go back and watch. Packers are
a game and a half back of the Bears. They
still have to go to Chicago. They still have to
go to Seattle, UM. That's next Thursday night. They have
to go to Minnesota take on the Vikings. And you
mentioned those Falcons. Albeit falcons would be in the cold,

(28:38):
they still have the Falcons left. Is this a last season?
Here's the conversation, Doug, who's the next coach of the Packers.
That's where I think we're at November nine, who's the
next coach? Because I was over so so give me
the give me the you're in the you're in the
front office and you're you're somebody's at the white board
and they're throwing out names. What are the three names?

(29:00):
Who are the three names? John D Philippo, you know
who's the hot offensive coordinator also in the division, so
he would know the team's young guy. I think you
would call Lincoln Riley the third one. There's not really
the recycled Andy Reid type guy on the market. At
least it's looking like this year you can't hire a

(29:21):
defensive coach. So I think you got John D. Philippo.
I think you got Lincoln Riley. It's hard. I don't
I've been thinking about this Kingsbury any anyway. Kingsbury, I
don't know. Maybe I actually kind of like Cliff Kingsbury,
but that that would be a pretty bold mood. But
that's not that crazy. They've actually played a lot better

(29:43):
this season. Uh, Texas Tech. The one thing the Packers
will have going for him when when they do fire.
Mike McCarthy is there the Green Bay Packers and Aaron
Rodgers is still you know, in his prime and under contract.
So to me, that's it's a nique job. I don't
think you could hire him because of the proximity to

(30:05):
the substance stuff. But am I wrong? Is Steve Sarkatian
has done an awesome job in Atlanta? He has, But
I see, I'm I'm on the other side. I know
you and Colin you guys like him. I I don't know.
I've never been the biggest fan, and the stuff that
happened at FC, I no, no, I listen, I I'm
not going to dismiss this stuff. But but he did.

(30:25):
I mean, like, look, he actually did a really good
job turning around Washington and I just spiraled out of
control at USC. But I mean, look that often Matt
Ryan is having a ridiculously good year and he's done
a really good job. Again, you're you're allowed to hold
his past against him. And I don't think he's hirable

(30:45):
yet in a college and probably not in the NFL either,
But I'm just in just in judging. Yeah, I mean,
a little younger probably could relate to Aaron. You know,
it's not that crazy. I'm not saying it's like that
out of left field, because that's what you're looking for,
right someone that can get along with your quarterback, I mean,
and also something that can stimulate It's like about an

(31:07):
intellectual stimulation, right. You gotta make him think he's trying
and doing some of the cool creative stuff, like, yeah,
I want to do it. It's like when you your
your dad wants to have the good new My dad
always wanted to have the cool new piece of technological equipment, right,
Like remember when a cam quarter came out at the
video the video the video machine that could also play
it on your VCR, so you didn't have to take

(31:29):
it out. Like, but he never knew how to use
all of it. But it's just the idea of it.
That's kind of where we are with Aaron Rodgers, Like
I'm not sure you're really gonna run all this Andy
Reid stuff, all this pre snap stuff, but you at
least want to stimulate him to think he's doing something
different than he's done the last ten years. Would all
be fascinated this off stat or just that little period
when they're kind of going through Guys, if they missed

(31:50):
the playoffs and Mike McCarthy's fire when they missed the playoffs,
I mean they're not going to make the playoffs. Is
do they treat it like Darryl Morey treats with James
Harden and the Warriors do with like Steph. Are they
gonna go to Aaron? Is he gonna be a part
of the process? You know? Would they even give him
that option? Maybe they would, And it's not crazy if
they did. I mean, he is their franchise. So you

(32:11):
want to make him feel a part of it because
this next high or higher at least for the next
you know, in the short term three four years, you
have a chance to win Super Bowl and be a
power again because you still have Aaron. Like it's a
it's a very very unique job because of Aaron Rodgers
completely completely agree. Doug got show here on Fox Sports

(32:32):
Radio Talk on Williams. Doug Williamson, Uh, would he be
a top five NFL draft pick? He looks like Khalil
Mack that the hair, do the biceps? I mean, I
I thought he accept he's like he's six five. How
he got him? He's taller. He's a freak man, total

(32:54):
freak I just I don't know if you can play
in the NBA at two five and he doesn't have
the body type You're like, oh hey, dude, you need
to play at two forty. You know. Yeah, it was
I was glued to my television even in a blowout,
just oh my, this is one of the great explosive athletes.
And you know, it was like remember like Clowney when

(33:16):
he was a sophomore, and it was like, God, I
do not look like other humans on the field, and
he was in the SEC that's what That's what Zion
looked like. The other night was just oh my god. Yep,
and crazy enough. He's actually not the best freshman on
the on that roster um in terms of prospect or
current player, but he was still He's spectacular and his

(33:36):
athleticism is is he from Carolina, from South Carolina, South Carolina,
from close to Clemson. Stepdad played at Clemson. Clemson thought
they were getting him. South Carolina thought they had a
shot at him, and the ends up going to Duke.
South Carolina has had a good little run of the
clowneyas uh. I think all Sean Jeffreys from there, He's
from there. Kevin Garnett and Kevin Kevin Garnett's from there.

(33:58):
Ray Allen ray Alan was a military brighter from there.
John Middle call Three and Out is the podcast downloaded.
It's outstanding. John thinks so much for joining us later, Doug,
have a good weekend enjoying too, All right, enjoy my game.
You'll be able to see because you don't have the package.
Let's go to Dan Buyer who has a fantasy show
on Sunday mornings and he only does that show so
he doesn't have to buy the package just sits in game. No,

(34:21):
I've got it at home. I'm I'm at home. Watch
cannot believe. I mean that was like, I can't believe
he doesn't happen. Here's in his defense, though, a scout
is going to learn more on an all twenty two films,
you know, so so he could go back and do
his real work after that. No, and it's hard, and
and red zone is is almost you can't anybody who's like,
I've got five TVs to watch the NFL, Like, do

(34:42):
you have five eyes? Like I wasn't sense of eyes, yes, exactly.
The ability to get go, get go. There's always a game,
Doug that I just don't go to, Like there's always
like the one game like maybe I'll turn it on
to get the idea get bills. That'll probably be this
this weekend. There's a lot of news from that game.

(35:04):
Sam Donald ruled out, not gonna play because of a
sprayed foot. Josh Allen may return, but it's not likely.
We'll just put it that way. The quarterback listed is
questionable limited practice with an elbow injury. If he can't go,
it's Nathan Peterman or Matt Barkley because Derrick Anderson has
been ruled out of the game with a concussion. Of course,
you've got Saints Bengals on the radio call coming up

(35:26):
on Sunday. Saints that coach Sean Payton said today that
Dez Bryant status hasn't been decided for that contest, but
the NFL network says that Bryant not likely to make
his debut on Sunday in a Saints uniform. The Rams
canceled practice today because of wildfires near the team's practice
facility in Thousand Oaks, California. Head coach Sean McVeigh said
about forty five members of their team, coaches and players included,

(35:49):
being affected by the fires and had to be evacuated.
They're gonna practice at USC tomorrow in preparation for that
game against the Seahawks. This just in from the NBA.
Within the past hour. Warriors cards deep Curries m R.
I encouraging, but won't play Saturday against the Nets because
of a of the strained growing Kurt calling the injury
day today, but no Draymond tomorrow, nos Steph Curry tomorrow,

(36:10):
nos Sean Livingston tomorrow as they take on the Nets.
And of course he was injured in last night's lost
to the Bucks one thirty four one eleven Milwaukee. With
that win, uh, and that of course is noted Bucks
fan had to throw it in there, damn. But that's okay.
It was a great win and they played They played
outstanding basketball and played obviously even better once once Steph

(36:33):
went out. Doug Gotlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio

many stories as possible from the day in sports by
playing a game. This is game Time on the Doug

(37:22):
Gottlieb Show. M Game Times brought you by Discover Card.
We treat you like you'd treat you. Let's play Psychic
with Dan Buyer. You know I know it's psychic. Well,
let's let's see, Doug, the game today is psychic? Oh? There,

(37:44):
it is, absolutely And we talked about Dez Bryant a
little bit before. You're gonna be calling the Saints game tomorrow.
Psychic's so excited, by the way, I just I can't.
It's a Sunday. By the way, I'm so excited. I
might show up tomorrow. You're looking live. We're in twenty
four hours the Sins and Megals will actually play. When
will Dez Bryant make his Saints debut? Will it be

(38:05):
Sunday against the Bengals or will it be Week twelve
against the Eagles. Oh? I think it'll be Week twelve
against the Eagles. This makes a lot of sense. And
and any look, anytime Sean Payton says, hey, you know,
like five pounds overweight, Like, yeah, yeah, that's five pounds
overweight translates into ten pounds overweight. Um. But I mean, look,

(38:27):
I would play him as soon as like, as soon
as you can just get him some reps and get
him out there. But you know, going to zero a
hundred of game speed on the road. Um Like, Look,
he's gonna get a chance to play against Jerry in
three weeks, So playing against his old rival the Eagles
and playing against the Cowboys, I think obviously those competitive
juices are flowing. But I don't think you'll see him
until next week. Psychic Will Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard

(38:51):
four Net make it through Sunday's game against the Colts
without an injury as he returns from his strained hamstring.
Yes he will, All right, there we go, Yes he will,
Yes he will. You can't the hamstring thing. If it's
close at all, you don't go because everybody's worried. The
second you explode, it's gonna pop. My guess is one

(39:13):
of the reasons that they have held off and held
off and held off was they just weren't confident. Now
they are. I don't. I don't think he returns unless
he's um as close to above as humanly possible. I
think he's fine. He'll hold up. Psychic New York Giants
wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Says it's their goal to
win eight straight and make the playoffs at nine and seven.

(39:35):
Do you see nine and seven in the future of
the New York Giants? No, no, no, no, no. There
their schedule at on Monday night. It's not crazy. It's
not crazy hard, right, Bucketeers at home at Philadelphia seems
probably difficult. Bears at home seems difficult. At the Redskins

(39:59):
seems rather difficult, although they're just besieged by injuries. Titans
at home not crazy. At Colt seems hard. Cowboys, It's uh,
it's not going to happen. I know this because I
have psychic powers. But even if I was just someone
who was a mere mortal and want to do probability,
it's it's pretty low. Okay, Psychic, Let's switch to college football,

(40:19):
where there will be games tomorrow. What's the best college
game this weekend. And I say weekend because you've got
Fresno State Rane at Boise State tonight, You've got Bedlam tomorrow,
You've got Ohio State Michigan State. A bunch of good games.
What's the best college game we're gonna get this weekend?
Ohio State Michigan State will be a close game. That
that's that's the best college It's not the same without

(40:43):
Nick Bosa. Michigan State is not that good. But they
do have they'll they'll find the ability in this game, uh,
to make it to make it close. I don't think
Boston College has the athletes to keep up with Clemson.
I mean unless that thing, unless it was pouring rain
and freezing cold, ab then um so yeah. I think
Ohio State mission States the game. All right? Psychic is

(41:04):
a trade of timber Wolves guard Jimmy Butler coming soon.
The answer is yes, he is gonna play tonight against
the Sacramento Kings. Psychic. One more from the NBA. Are
the Warriors long title runs starting to catch up with
them when it comes to injuries. There will be no
Steph Curry, no Draymond Green, no Shaun Livingston tomorrow against
the Brooklyn nets. Uh yeah, I mean, yeah, this has

(41:27):
been coming now. Steph hurt the adductor, I believe it is.
That's like, it's the muscle in there that pulls it,
that pulls the growing in. It's not the actual tendon
ligament or tendant um. And Draymond's had issues all year.
And remember this is a contract year for Draymond Green
and the fact that Livingston is even playing in the
NBA considering the knee injury he suffered. But yeah, I

(41:48):
mean those long playoff runs, they come back and get
you at some point. This is game time on The
Dug Gottlieb Show, all right. Coming up next in The
Doug gott Leap Show, we'll catch up with one of
the best rookies in the National Football League. You know,
most times when guys put up huge sack numbers, they're

(42:09):
playing on a good team because the team has a
big lead. They could pin their years back. Not the
case with Bradley Chubb. How's he been doing it? We'll
find out next. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Doug dot Leap Show weekdays in noon eastern three
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. What Up Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio.

(42:31):
Down Down, Down, Down, Down, Down down. We have Jay
Glazier join us in fifteen minutes. We do alright, Dea
is gonna play this weekend. We'll find out from Jay
Glazer does anyone want to play quarterback for the for
the Bills? But first we got breaking news, Dan Buyer,
Dan what he got breaking news from Fox Sports Doug.

(42:55):
This justin from the NFL Network. Saints wide receiver Dez
Bryan was injured in practice today and the team fears
he may have torn his achilles. So when we talk
about Des his debut with the Saints, it may not
happen at all. But the NFL Network saying that Saints
wide receiver Des Brian may have torn his achilles during
a workout today. Oh my goodness. Alright, so uh, Bradley

(43:20):
chaps on, hold, have a hold on real quick. Um.
I actually I feel terrible for Dez. But this is
I've told people this a long time, for a long time,
and and it does relate to Des Briant. And this
is why the wait thing I've been kind of teasing
all day about, Hey, the the five pounds heavy really
feels like it's ten or maybe even more pounds heavy.

(43:42):
And that's I'm sure what John Payton was talking about. Um,
look the key and if you're if you're an athlete
of any elk, can you listen to this show. You
listen to this pod. And lots of my buddies will
play basketball sitting. I're gonna sit there and nod their
head when I say this. And a bunch of you
guys were former jocks as well. Look we all when
we get older, you still your your mind still thinks

(44:02):
you're younger, and you're like, well, I'm smarter now, I
know how to move with my body. If you're gonna
get back into playing sports, right, you can play the
men's league and play volleyball. You're gonna play tennis, You're
gonna do anything. The first thing you need to do
is lose the weight. Because when you're a couple of
pounds to anymore overweight, your your body is used to

(44:27):
doing athletic things with its old way, in addition to
the fact it suffered somewhere and tear so and it's
you're like, well, how do I lose weight without playing sports? Like, well,
it's a lot about diet. And then you know, you
gotta do a lot of yoga and a lot of stretching,
and there's you gotta do. You gotta uh do a
lot less impactful stuff. But this is classic sign of

(44:50):
what happens to guys later in their career, especially when
they're carrying a couple too many, a couple too many,
a couple too many pounds. But that's a wow, wow wow,
And I would guess it means for you know, for

(45:10):
next season, I mean, good luck getting a You know,
here's Dez who thought, all right, well I have to
I'll just play this year, show people I can play,
and then next year. Remember Terrell Owens, in addition to
being a pain in the ass, what led to him
uh not no one picking up the phone and calling
him towards a C L in his mid thirties towards
a c and has mid thirties. So I don't think

(45:34):
you have to be the biggest des Brian fan to
feel like, man, that sucks, right, because he was gonna
play against the Cowboys and I would love to see iftweena,
didn't you want to see him like I legitimately wanted
to see him play against the Cowboys? Yeah, h all right.
Let's um, he's still he's still on hold right, still stuck?

(45:55):
Whether us good? All right? Jay Glazer upcoming. We'll see
if Jay has an update on that, if he has
a fish to words, he's torn as achilles tendon. Um,
that's not one that, by the way, people usually miss
on right, like, uh, sometimes it's a partially torn a
c L or sometimes you know they could be is
the bone broken? Is it not broken? When somebody says

(46:16):
they fear it might be a torn achilles tendon, that's
not one which they're usually like, Nope, we got that
one totally wrong. It's just a spraining. He'll be fine.
He'll be back into two three to six Broncos defensive
And Bradley Chubb is joining us on behalf of Old Spice.
They had the new Fomer body wash. Thanks for coming
on the show, Bradley. I've been told that you know

(46:38):
specifically what the number four teen point five has in
terms of significance at your position? What is that significance?
Too much about him? But uh, I'll definitely look at
it every day. Yeah, and then of course, uh, that
would shatter the record of eleven point five sacks set
by Von Miller, who was that's that's the Bronco Broncos

(47:01):
Rookie Record. What what what's just been like for you?
I mean, because you know, we hear from so many
different guys different positions that the adjustment to the speed
of the game, you know is and of course the
lifestyle changes things. But for you, it seems like you've
adjusted really quickly. What in reality, what's the suggestment been
like for you? Uh, the justment has been pretty good.

(47:24):
I mean at the beginning of the season, I'm not
gonna last, I struggle with just trying to uh, not
trying to mess up and not trying to just you
know what I'm saying, just trying to be as cost
as I could and not just going out there and playing.
And then I felt like when I started just getting comfortable,
having getting getting around the guys more and just having
that that team camistry and stuff like that, then stuff
start to click from me because I realized that if

(47:47):
the reason that they drafted me is to make plays
and stuff like that and just go out there and
play and not to think and not to go out
there and just trying not to mess up. So my
main thing was just getting my confidence back and making
sure that I just went out there every week and
uh what the teams would do. Bradley Chef joining us
in the doug otlip Show. The team has struggled to
Bradley Chub has not. Uh this is and you know,

(48:08):
what you're doing runs counter to what most guys that
put up sack numbers, you know, right, because most guys
that get a lot of sacks they're playing on really
really good teams. They get a lead early, and the
team has the the opposition has to throw the football,
so you get more opportunities. I actually think if you
could put a positive asterisk by your sack total because

(48:30):
you're playing on a team which has played in so
many close games and lost several of them, and it
makes it harder to get those stats, doesn't it. Uh Yeah,
I don't feel like I see what you're saying. But yeah,
just every time I get an opportunity risk pass. With
me and von In, Shane and SA and the rest
of the line, we got that the mindset that we're
gonna get them, so uh uh, just trying to make

(48:52):
the best every opportunity we to get. Bradley Chef joining
us on the dug outlip show here on Fox Sports Radio.
What have you learned from bon uh? Just everything from
on the field to off the field, to what I
do with my body and in between games, and to
what I do in the off season when I don't
feel like, you know, I'm saying, spending money and stuff
like that. So he's been very helpful. Just like I

(49:14):
told somebody earlier, he's like been like a big brother
to me and this and this whole thing. Um, just
somebody I could always talk to if I need to
have a question about certain things or something like that.
And then I also have my my own other brother
that could talk to about things, so it's like having
two brothers and stuff. So it's pretty cool. He's been
been great knowledge to me, but to all the other
rookies and stuff like that. Just very welcoming. All right,

(49:36):
So here, here's what you have to do. You have
to give me, you said on the field and off
the field, to give me one thing on the field
that you picked up from Van Noor. On the field,
I would say, um, just how to how to how
to attack, um, like, how to attack the game, like
the whole skill set of past rushing, whether it be
from watching film from on how to offer the tackle

(49:59):
kicks and and how he punches his hand as the
wild punch close to punch or something like that. You know,
I'm saying just different things like that. So just stuff
like how to watch film Bradly, we don't know. Listen, listen,
you're like, you know, like we don't know. Okay, so
so so you you so he taught like he taught
you how to watch how dudes punches, and that you
adjust your moves accordingly. You watch how his feet kick,

(50:20):
and that's how you adjust your moves accordingly. Right right,
Just time the stuff up and and being the fishing
with your with your body and with your hands. In
college when you're an NC state, was it just raw
ability or was it was some of this? Was? How
much of this did you know? Coming in? I knew
about it percent of it and then uh, just trying
to consider to learning each and every day he's telling

(50:42):
me different things that he's learned. Uh. We of course
everybody has had different codes of telling different things and
got different languages for stuff like that, and so sometimes
we're talking about the same things, but we just got
different names for it. So been just yeah, just just
really just talking football. Bradley chaff joining us and the
Dugout Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, give me

(51:02):
one thing off the field, but your as your diet changed, Yeah,
my diet has definitely changed. Uh I remember this is
right after I got drafted. Um, it's like probably about
a week or two after I got drafted. I haven't
really met him yet. And then uh he had put
on his like Instagram story like like deer back or
something like that. I like, what is it? What are
you eating? And then uh, I remember he told me

(51:24):
he was like, man, you gotta you gotta field of
Ferrari with with good stuff, not just stuff. Yeah. Yeah,
So when he when he told me that, and just
just seeing how clean he eats, um eating every day.
Of course he has a chef and stuff that that
brings the food and all that. So just saying how
clean he eats, and it just makes you want to
do the same things he's doing because he's playing at
a high level. So are you eating? Are you eating venison?

(51:45):
Is that what you're doing? Have you changed to the
venison diet? Like? What, give me one thing you've added
to your diet that you did not eat when you
were in college. Uh, I've ate a lot of fast
food in college. I said, I haven't touched fast food
since I've been uh pretty much been here throughout this season,
So just gave me up a fast food game. We're
trying to give up sweets. Uh, that's probably the hardest
thing because I got a sweet tooth like crazy every night,

(52:09):
and every night before games in college, I will eat
cookies and ice cream, So trying to get away from that.
But yeah, just cleared up as much as I can.
What kind of ice cream, but just vanilla talcolate, till
cookies with vanilla ice cream? Solid? Man, you can't. I
can't um canes or Chick fil a. Canes are chick
fil a. Yeah, I'm from the South, so I gotta

(52:30):
go chick fil a. Well, I mean canes is also
for like from the South. Right, Okay, did you go
like hardcore sweet tea? Did you go did you go soda?
But back in the day when you're doing fast food,
did you do like half sweet tea half regular tea?
What was your How would you get down when you
would go to chick fil a? Hardcore sweet tea? For sure?
If I want to Chick fil a I'll get to
lemonade from there. Yeah. Yeah, you can do lemonade tea

(52:51):
as well, although the Chick fil A they'll do sweet
tea with lemonade, which is like the sweetest thing you've
ever had, ever had in Uh speaking of college, what
to your boys? Man? NC State was cruising along and
now of a sudden they're getting smacked and lose the
wake forest. What's going on with that? Oh? Man, just
just growing pains and stuff. Man, just just h I
feel like they're just trying to I wouldn't say trying

(53:11):
to find the identity because they got a lot of
great players, a lot of great talent. It's just it
just comes down to um making a mistake here there.
Last night they made a couple of mistakes towards the
end of the game and end up causing them. So
I just gotta those guys got locked in and stuff.
I'm still supporting, but Um, it is a little hard

(53:32):
when you lose and when you started off so good.
But I know those guys gonna bounce back, all right.
You're a you're a tough guy. Um, you're on pace
to set the rookie sack record. Bradley Chub joining us,
but you're also a foaming body wash guy. You're foaming
body wash guy. Now do you go lufa with your
old spice um foamer or do you go you go
wash rack? I go wash Rack. I gotta go wash

(53:54):
rack because the loofa it starts to hurt if you
don't say scrub too hard. So I gotta go wash rack.
You could pick it up at Walmart. Bradley Chub joins
us on behalf of the new old spice Foam that's
foaming body wash that lathers in a flash, and go
uh go wash rag if you want to go Bradley
Chub style. Bradley, thanks so much for joining us. Appreciate
you being our guest on Fox Sports Radio. You no

(54:16):
doubt thanks for having me on the show. No problem.
Ryan Music, are you wash rag? Are you a loofa?
You're a loof a guy? Doesn't he look like? Yeah? Okay,
so now this is this is interesting. Okay, So for
those of us froz of you just joining the Doug
Gottlip Show. Ryan Music dropped a bombshell last week when

(54:38):
apparently that's been going on for like more than a month.
He's living with his future in laws as they are
the you know, to to save up money to eventually
get a place of their own, really expensive in southern California.
And by the way, are you guys you and buy
Are you guys okay? When you guys live, is it okay?
With the fire? Yeah? So it's more straight north is

(55:01):
where buyer and I live in that area, whereas the
fires are more west west right and it's going toward
down towards the water into into the canyon. Now, I
just want to make sure. I mean, obviously it's gonna
smell like smoke where you live, which is not fun,
but it's a lot better than if your house is
actually on fire. Um okay, So uh, anyway, last week

(55:22):
it was a bombshell, Ramos, wasn't it Like we didn't know?
This was out of nowhere? Out of nowhere. He's living
with the future in laws, which he says they're great,
you know, I mean it's awesome. Three hots and a
cod every day. Um. What's the bathroom situation? You guys
have your own bathroom? Okay, Okay, I don't ask you.

(55:44):
I mean, have you a showered together in the No,
that's going to be That's okay. Uh, two Lufa's are one,
Oh like do her and I? Yeah, we have our
hr own. You have your own Lufa? Do you ever
cross Lufa? Do you ever use your Lufa and go
like there's no, Yeah, they're the same but different colors. Yes,

(56:06):
And then and then do you have like a certain
pattern of time in which I can only use Are
you like one of those guys like I got a
month on this Lufa, then we're getting a new one,
or I wait until it's it's like a it's like
a little kid's blanket where it's completely in tatters, and
uh yeah, I mean I usually just go more along
the lines of it's looking a little worn, so time
to get a new one. Awesome, good stuff, all right.

(56:29):
So you're a loofa guy. I I am a whatever guy.
I've I've used hand, I've used Lufa. I will say
that the wash rag is I think the most effective.
The problem with the rosstrag is like, unless you remember,
you just kind of throw it in the corner of
the shower or the tub, and then somebody else walks
in there, like that's disgusting. The second most disgusting thing

(56:52):
that you can remain in the tub. Jay Glazer joins
us up coming next he would know if Dez didn't. No, no, no,
no Jake no Jake. Oh yeah, okay we go no
Jake leasure. Um, that's because of he's checking out his
sources on Dez Bryant. He doesn't want to talk about something.
J J wants to have all his facts checked. So
breaking news is Dez Bryant may have a torn Achilles tendon?

(57:12):
What does this mean to des this future? What does
this mean to the Saints? Well, we'll quickly react to

(58:42):
Doug Got Live Show, Fox Sports Radio. Um, look, there
have been players come back from a torn achilles tendon.
One in fact, was on with Cowher today. Wasn't he
didn't need terrorist achilles? Twice? I'm trying to think here, Um,

(59:03):
do you guys watch cow hear today? I thought, huh,
I thought it was really really good. Um when he
had D'Angelo. What's D'Angelo hall on there today? And D'Angelo
hall I believe I think he toured twice. So but
it has generally been a a career killer and career ender.

(59:25):
And this is what happens when you get to your thirties.
I've seen people Mike Freeman tweet at this is why
players hold out, This is why teams don't sign older players.
You know, this is why people don't buy used cars.
Doesn't matter how well made the car is. Once you
get over a hundred thousand miles, is gonna start to
break down what happens. Everybody's got the story of their

(59:50):
Frank Gore car, right, and by the way, Frank Gore
tore both his A c ls before he played in
the NFL. But everybody's got their war story of the
Frank Gore's, the Adrian Peterson's, the Ageless Wonders. But just
because there's one. My dad had a Honda Civic n
seventies six Hona Civic text Winner was the head coach

(01:00:12):
at Long Beach state. And so when my dad and
with the family we moved to southern California, took a
job with text text let us stay at his house
for a month before our house was closed, and then
he let my dad have like a nineteen seventies six
Honda Civic like just in text Winner died last month.
Just one of the great human beings of all time.
I mean took you we had How about this, you

(01:00:33):
wantalk about rude house guests? We show up cross country
like the clamp its right, all we have is a
Chevy and we had a station wagon. I think it
was a Chevy station wagon the wood paneling rolmost did
you guys have the station wagon when you were a kid? Wagon?
But I know what you're talking about. Yeah, so we
I mean just like um, the original vacation right like that,

(01:00:56):
Like that's honest to goodness. That was us driving across country.
We hit a deer. It was in a zoo and
I'm kidding we did hit a deer though, Um anyway,
he drove all the way across country. Kids were sitting
in the third row which faced the wrong way faced,
which that does not seem safe and by in hindsight anyway, Um,

(01:01:18):
so we arrived and we're staying at this is his
boss's house, this is text Winner, a legendary head coach.
And we got like three dollars, two dogs with us
and all of our stuff and yeah, we're still staying
with him and his wife. They couldn't be any kinder.
And he's like, yeah, here, use my car. So my dad,
he turned the ode dometer over twice. Now I think

(01:01:41):
those old odometers, I don't know, that must have been
a hundred thousand miles because that wouldn't have been a million,
It wouldn't been a million miles, right, and it would
have been like, why would have turned over at two
hundred thousands? Must have been a hundred thousand miles. Anyway,
he turned the odometer over twice, so he probably two miles.
Everybody has that story, but generally you ask, um, I

(01:02:04):
know a bunch of car guys, and car guys are like, look,
obviously where it's made, factories made, and then the build quality.
But even the best cars. And we had a we
had an suv. I'm not going to reveal the the
name of the company. We had an suv we loved, loved,

(01:02:26):
and we had a two thousand eleven when I had
we had our twins and oh six, we had one
and then we had my son No. Nine. We need
that third row. We got a bigger SUV. And I'm
telling you, for the first five years, maybe six years,
five years, we didn't have a problem in the world

(01:02:48):
with this car. And it was all under warranty, under warranty,
in warranty, and we got to like eighty thousand miles
and the the warranty, the drive ship that ran out,
and like the transmission had problems, and this set problems
and and this is like one of the highest rated
not just safety but build quality. You get to like
a hundred thousand molest things right down. But the opposite

(01:03:09):
is true. We couldn't possibly be this stupid, right, We
couldn't possibly be so stupid as reporters and analysts and
fans to go like, see NFL team should pay for
guys that are never going to play for them. That's
good for business. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Like you've shown you've shown that you're either you're we

(01:03:33):
we obviously we don't like the idea that these are
billionaire owners. Man. We don't like you know, some of
these billionaire owners didn't come from much. It's like Shot Khan, right,
like he comes to this country, he makes himself into it,
like self made billionaire. So what we're supposed to end?
Shot Khan Obviously, in addition to being an NFL owner

(01:03:55):
who deals with these contracts, he's also likely going to
have most people feel like the Jaguars are gonna play
at some point half their games in London and he'll
make ungodly sums of money from it, and it's brilliant.
It's like, what's Jacksonville gonna do? Jacksonville has zero chance
of getting another professional sports franchise, so they'll house them.

(01:04:18):
You know, you got no state income tax, so the
guys will like it. It's warm there, you know. And
and Jacksonville, my dad, my parents lived there. My dad
was a coach there. Like it's a great city. But
you know what, Like, what's Jacksonville gonna do? They're gonna
just then go like, okay, well we'll take four games, fine, cool?
Can we get the preseason games too? Maybe the postseason
games as well? That's what's good. I can you can

(01:04:39):
see the handwriting on the wall that's gonna happen, and
so we can have like something we got a problem
with shod Khan, Like no, he's actually an American success
story and this is just another business and he's trying
to make this business even more successful in Bible. But
that's all. No, give these guys bad contracts. No. The
reason that you don't give like you don't reason you

(01:04:59):
don't rake the bank for Levan Bell. And let's not
mistell the Levy on Bell story. He was offered a
very healthy contract. He wanted a contract above that of
any other running back, and they're like, no, no, we'll
pay you four team main guaranteed and then we'll shake
hands after paying your twelve main guarantee the year before.

(01:05:21):
That's million dollars in guaranteed money over two years. And
oh yeah, by the way, we're going to give you
a new contract if you want it. And you don't
want it. Everybody's a value and as you get older,
you can sit here and go I should be more
valuable because but the truth is, this is what happens.
I don't think Dez Bryant is done working out for

(01:05:44):
assigning teams, but he's probably close to Downe in the
NFL sadly, this is how it ends. So that ends.
Do you remember how it ended for Jerry Rice in Seattle?
I'm sorry, I got I got gave way the answer buyer,
do you remember that day? Let's bring in Dan Buyer
fin out what else is going on in the world

(01:06:05):
sports buyer? Jerry Rice, he was in Seattle, right, and
that one had ended for him. He did play, Yes,
he did play the Seahawk for the Seahawks, played in
I don't know, maybe a half a season. I think
it was. Did try to then catch out with the
Denver Broncos in a training camp and then he ended
up calling it quits. Ah So Broncos is afterwards, Okay, yeah, yeah,

(01:06:25):
but I don't I don't think he appeared in any
games with Denver. I think it was a training camp thing.
So one of the things, in addition to the des
Bright news that you just talked about again, gonna get
an m r. I but the team fears that he
tore his achilles is what's happening in southern California with
the wildfires. The Rams today canceled practice because of the
fires that are near the team's facility in Thousand Oaks.
California head coach Sean McVeigh said today about forty five

(01:06:49):
members of the team, players and coaches included, had to
be evacuated. So they're gonna try to go to downtown
l A stay in a hotel a night earlier than
the normally would for their games Sunday against the Seahawk.
As for their practice that was canceled today, Rams are
gonna be practicing at USC tomorrow in preparation for that
game against the Seahawks. Seahawks running back Chris Carson, by
the way, a game time decision with a hip intry

(01:07:10):
for Sunday's matchup against the Rams. Jets have ruled out
rookie quarterback Sam Donald for their game against the Bills
because of a sprain foot. Don't know who's going to
start at quarterback for Buffalo. Josh Allen limited in practice today,
but the rookie is questionable with an elbow injury. It'll
either be him, Nathan Peterman or Matt Barkley. And the
ESPN report says the Cubs are willing to trade third
basement Chris Bryant this offseason. While in the NBA, the

(01:07:32):
Warriors got good news on an m R. I on
the growing of Steph Curry. He's day today with a
strained growing efforts after suffering the injury last night against
the Bucks, but he's not gonna play tomorrow against the
Brooklyn Nets. Finally, the Colorado Avalanche take on the Winnipeg
Jets at eight o'clock Eastern Time in tonight's Discovered Card

Doug gottlim Show, Fox Sports Radio. Look, I want to
point out I I like des Bryant. I thought it
was a great opportunity and I do think it's This
is where it's kind of similar to the Jerry Rice thing,
Like I think he'll keep chasing it, right, He'll keep

(01:08:14):
He'll pop up in a camp. But the man is
timing sucks. The timing of when the Cowboys cut him
stunk for him, and the timing now the timing when
the Saints signing was great for him because they're kind
of up and rolling and they're you know, sits and
watches this week and then plays against the Eagles and
plays against Cowboys. But when you tear and achilles tendon,

(01:08:36):
it's about a year rehab. Guys have been aver come
back a little earlier, but when you're in your early thirties,
like it's about a year rehab, you know that's a
tough one. Whereas he needs a training camp, he needs
to show that he's completely healthy. Oh um, then stands
the reason that we'll see if a Brandon Marshall has
anything left in the tank. Because Brandon Marshall was another

(01:08:58):
one of the guys that they decided to not sign
that they brought in this week. They brought in three
veteran wide receivers. Das was the one they decided to keep.
I thought, and you know, Brandon Marshall has his own
kind of baggage in terms of locker room stuff, but
I thought he was much more washed in terms of
how he played on the field. So we'll see. Then

(01:09:19):
you get to the Green Bay Packers, who were one
of the teams that I think does want to play for,
and they never reached out. What if the Packers season
is a lost season? This was what Randall Cobb told ESPN.
We've lost games before here, but this just feels different.
It doesn't feel good, it's not fun. We've got to

(01:09:42):
figure something out. We haven't heard Aaron Rodgers say relaxed
as he said in the past. Now you have Randall
Cobbs saying this is different. It just feels different. In
fair Is, they have the Dolphins, and nothing makes you

(01:10:03):
feel better than beating the hell out of the Dolphins
at home. This is a colossal, colossal stretch for them.
If you can beat the Dolphins, then you get the Seahawks. Now,
Seahawks on Thursday night. We've seen road teams on a
Thursday night struggle. There is one difference though that it
is the Seattle Seahawks and this is not the dynamic

(01:10:26):
home field advantage it was in the past. And the
Seahawks are playing on the road against the Rams on
Sunday and they got to turn around Rams. I think
you they beat you up, beat up. Always a physical
matchup between those two teams, and the Seahawks played really
well against the Rams last time around. Rams. Of course
no practice date because the fires in l A. But

(01:10:48):
you would expect the Rams, who are prohibitive favorite, to
put it on the Hawks now it feels like it's
close to over for the Packers. But two wins, then
you got the Vikings of the road. You're not expected
to win that. But then you get Cardinals Falcons at home.
You still have the Jets on the road, and the

(01:11:09):
lines like you still have one too, three, four, five,
five of your remaining eight games, we'll see what the
Seahawks five games in which you're going to be favored.
You win the five games with your favorite. You have
eight wins, eight, four and one, and then you gotta
you know, then you gotta win one in Seattle. You

(01:11:30):
get to nine, you gotta give yourself a shot. But
when you hear Randall cops saying, hey, you know we've
lost before. M h m hm, this one feels different.
This one feels different. Every analyst we've had on here
said they feel like this is the end for Mike McCarthy.

(01:11:53):
Now maybe maybe they just like, hell, we're just gonna
go win the whole damn thing. Because I don't think
they're a bad football team. I think they've been snake
bitten by some bad luck. I think they've made some
bad plays. I don't think many teams win in New England.
I don't think the defense is great, but I only
are a bad football team. They had bad fumble this
past week when it was a close game, bad fumble

(01:12:14):
the week before in the Rams it was a close game,
missfield goals. Early in the year. You in two of
those three games, and you're sitting at at five wins,
and you're a top of your division and you got
a soft back end of your schedule. This is also
usually where Aaron Rodgers bills amount yes right music. So

(01:12:35):
when you look at the Packers, because you're saying, you know,
you don't think they're that bad. They had a couple
of bad breaks. Do you look at it as they're
more of like a head coach scheme change away or
is it more like they do need a couple of
playmakers on each side of the ball to kind of
take them to the next level, or is it kind
of they just need both. I don't think they need more.

(01:12:58):
I don't think it's necessarily a makers. I think it's
I think a scheme. I think a scheme more than anything.
Um And you know, it seems like they have a
good running back, right, he just bumbled when they were
in a close game. It seems like you know, Jimmy
Graham has never been as dynamic as he was early

(01:13:19):
in his career. Jimmy the the what we want Jimmy Graham.
We want Jimmy Graham to be Tony Gonzalez and he's not.
We want Jimmy Graham to be Travis Kelsey and he's not.
But isn't it the Jimmy Graham thing? Like when we
talk about offensive people, like Sean Payton is known as
being one of those great offensive people. And so when
he was with a great quarterback Drew Brees and a

(01:13:41):
great offensive guy Sean Payton, he had an amazing career.
Then he goes to Seattle where they were always known
for defense, and then, you know, I think we all
think Russell Wilson's a good two great quarterback, but they
didn't have that offensive scheme. And now we're in the
same situation with the Packers where it's we all think
Aaron Rodgers is great, but maybe Mike McCarthy isn't a
great offensive coach in today's NFL. So if they bring

(01:14:03):
in a you know whatever, Sean McVeigh light, you know,
next iteration of that type of offensive coach, could Jimmy
Graham see that resurgence maybe, or it's possible Jimmy Graham's
just not that good, right, Like how many years we
have to see Jimmy Graham and go like, you know,
I mean Dan Buyer would know he's he watched him

(01:14:23):
in Seattle, right, Yeah, Jimmy Grant is Graham is at
the solution to it all. I mean we even saw
you saw Marquees Valde's scantling make plays against the Patriots
this past Sunday night. Aaron Jones sends the fumble, seems
to be a guy on offense. Weapons doesn't seem to be.
I don't think. I don't think weapons weapons is the problem.

(01:14:44):
I think, uh, Rogers, a little bit of Rogers buy
in as well as the scheme, and then it's they've
and remember they're also working through a completely new defense. Yeah,
and I'll throw one more thing in there, which is
crazy to think. And this is as the Packers as
a whole is apathy towards Mike McCarthy, whether whether it

(01:15:04):
goes right or goes wrong. If it goes wrong, it's
McCarthy's fault. If it goes right, he's not getting any credit.
And the fans in that market we talked about. All
Packer fans are great. McCarthy is not on their side
anymore because of the just one super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers.
The fans are starting to be apathetic towards Mike McCarthy,
which may signify a reason for a change. Yep uh.

(01:15:28):
That Seattle game is massive, right, massive, massive, massive game
all right? Time to get to here. On The Doug
Gotlip Show, con Cowherd thinks, with so many teams falling
apart in the NBA, there's one team you can bet
we'll take advantage. Find out who he's speaking of next.

National Basketball Association. How often does that happen? Where a
gentle manager a president calls in a coach after disappointing
road trip and wants to have a discussion about we
would visit every day. I mean we we lived together.
We're like a family. So from a GM head coach perspective,
if you guys aren't in lockstep together and aren't spending
an awful lot of time together, you're probably missing the

(01:16:31):
opportunity to do something special together. So I think in
the situation with Magic, who's who's not with the team
on the road, who's who's not? Like a traditional GM,
that's sort of Rob Blinka's role. I think for Magic
to have a sit down with Lucas fine, but to
make a big deal about it that was probably unnecessary
just from a media perspective, and I'm I'm sure that

(01:16:52):
was done to generate some sort of a fact or

when he was cut sources, and for me, Dez Bryant
was coming out of a routine route when it happened.
Sickening for a guy who waited so long for the
right fit. Yeah. Look, my thing with the Dez Bryan
deal is it's just really really hard hard to go

(01:18:00):
from training on your own to training with the football team,
and that's not even playing a game. It's probably one
of the reasons that the Saints were smart to be like, hey,
we might not play him this weekend every day. This time,
I'd like to play for you. A portion of a

earlier today on why he believes the Lakers are going

(01:18:42):
to make a move. The Rockets are awful. No, I
mean they lost to Oklahoma City in Oklahoma City didn't
have Westbrook And by the way, Oklahoma City won their
second straight game without Westbrook, showing that Westbrook's not nearly
as valuable as you think. And all by the way,
Steph Curry got hurt for Golden State last night, m
R I Today, Steph Curry's hurt uh again for Golden State.

(01:19:05):
You keep telling me this Laker team just let's not
worry this year about the playoffs. Let's they have no chip. Really,
Oklahoma City Westbrook is now a decade of attacking the
rim and hitting the floor is hurt again. Houston, Carmelo
Anthony is an abject disaster. Portland's scores only from the backcourt,

(01:19:29):
nothing in the front court. Minnesota's got turmoil and a
losing record. What about Denver? Really, Jamal Murray or Lebron?
In June? Who you got? New Orleans is a one
man team and we're all waiting for the one man,
Anthony Davis to be a Laker. Yeah. Look, I think

(01:19:52):
what Colin's getting to is he likes the overall plan.
Um My issue is it my word for magic and
Polinka is people want to take issue with the personnel
they put around Lebron. What they haven't discussed is what
were the better options what were the better options. You know,
they're they're people like well, Julius Randall. I do think

(01:20:15):
Julius Randall would have been better offensively as a backup
five man, especially at two years, nineteen million dollars. Sure,
but Julius Randall wasn't going to play any four anymore.
Like they have Kyle Kuzuma, they have Lebron James, they
don't need. They don't need any other you know, non

(01:20:37):
ball handling, non shooting power forwards. They just don't and
and so like look around, like they did the best
they could with the landscape, and they signed guys in
one year deals so they can put some of those
shooters around him in years to come when those guys
are available, but they're not available now. On the other hand,
and this is the negative part, is what if Polinka
and Magic done to lead you to believe that they're

(01:21:01):
going to make the right choices in land the right guys.
I don't know. It's facts, I think I don't know.
As for this year, Russell Westbrook is incredibly valuable. Yes,
they beat the Rockets, but the Rockets didn't have James Harden, right,
So it's like, oh, they didn't have Westbrook and they
still won. Okay, but the Rockets didn't have James Harden
got every call, Chris Paul wasn't very good, and Carmelo

(01:21:24):
was one of eleven showing that he doesn't like coming
off the bench. Is not very good as a starter
either anymore. Um, the Warriors injuries are concerning, but let's
not kid ourselves up. Pulled adductor muscle is not the
end of the world. It's not a knee and it's
assuredly not an ankle. For Steph Curry, I saw this

(01:21:44):
tweet from Dave Petra's Petra's Yellow pet. He said this
on Twitter at Gottlip Show, I agree with you on
Michigan State being very overrated, but Wisconsin says hello. That
was our conversation about some college football games upcoming this

my Picks, Next Hour, Got a Lot, Got a lot
to get to my picks especially, and then I'll take
you through kind of my process. Guys are getting ready
for this uh NFL game in a college basketball game,
kind of like locking myself in a room and just
going over players and personnel groupings and quick little stories

(01:23:08):
and tidbits like I don't know, like in fact, so
if you're just joining us, um. I had somebody tweet
me last night, Oh great, you're doing an NFL game.
You're gonna talk about it for the next ten years,
maybe I will, you know why, because it's cool, right, Yeah,

(01:23:29):
It's like, yeah, I did one f NFL sideline game
Bears Dolphins, and it was a great game and it
was a lot of fun and a month later, I'm
still talking about it. Like, you know, look, if you
are so fortunate to bring home at ten once upon
a time, you'd still tell your boys about it, right,
wouldn't you? Right? That's what this is. The dude has

(01:23:52):
never done play by play, doing play by play in
the NFL and radio. That's bringing home with ten boys
may never happen again. I'm gonna tell you all of
stories about it, all right, coming up next, Jay Glazers,
Des Bryant, Done, Done Done. Find out next in The
Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Doug got Leap Show week days in noon eastern three

(01:24:14):
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. What Up Doug Gotliep Show, Fox Sports Radio.
Jay Glazer said to join us. We believe in moments.
My guess is, Jay's the kind of guy probably on
the phone with Dez Bryan is dead just tweeted out.
We'll say this like we do have to like keep

(01:24:35):
some perspective. Total bummer. Dez Bryan is not gonna play
this weekend and play for the Saints. Look like it
towards Chilles tendon on the last play. This does get
a little bit overblown, right, Like Teddy Bridgewater tore up
his knee on the last play of practice UM and
their last preseason practice, and then people said, well, Dez

(01:24:56):
Bryant towards me in the last play of practice. Well,
when a guy who you thought was gonna play tears
Achilles tenant coaches years ago, that's a rap. That's a
bad sign. I like to end practices on a made
shot me personally, not on a tourn Achilles tenant. But
but the idea of like a praying for Dez Brian like,

(01:25:18):
come on, man, it sucks, it hurts his career earnings,
and maybe we'll see you with the You know, Jeff
Ireland's done a really good job. Jeff Ireland former general
manager of the the Miami Dolphins. Mickey Loomis is their
general manager, but Mickey Lomis is also the general manager

(01:25:39):
of the New Orleans Pelicans. So the idea that he's
making decisions for both, no, yeah, you hire really good
football people. In Ireland is a really good football guy.
It should be noted that this is this is like
the most missed part of the story. I'll get to
it in a second, Jake Glazier is a much more

(01:25:59):
import and then missed part of the story. Jay Glazer
joins us in the Doug Gottlieb Show. Um any confirmation
j that Dees did in fact, Terris Achilles Tendon, I'm
still waitting for confirmation. Actually, I just kind of laying
it down Atlanta. We're doing our our whole show of
Fox in the Volt Sunday from Fort Bending this weekend
for for Vederan. So just get off the plane and
you can imagine all the texts that we're there about Bryant.

(01:26:23):
Oh my god, it's you know, it's Uh. That's why
I always say that the NFL is the greatest reality
show in the world. It's incredible. Yeah, it is incredible
because it felt like this is gonna be a great
opportunity for him, Right, a guy, a chit chance. You
want to play in a winner, it's a winner. You
want to play with a good quarterback. You can't get
much better than Drew Brees good play collar, playing indoors

(01:26:45):
and he would have gotten the shot the Cowboys in
a couple of weeks. And it's the perfect situation where
that locker room is a different locker room. If you
mess up, you're gone. If you don't fit in, you're gone.
And it wasn't even look Adrian Peterson had a try
and and he fit in her. But they just did
the culture for him because the way Roman obviously Cam
MARTA's plan, and they have this culture where they're able

(01:27:06):
to move on from guys with no job, where other
places you have to worry about what it could do
to a locker room. The Saints are different than that,
and a lot of that obviously is Sean and Drew
and Camp guys like Cam Jordan's okay. So they also
brought in Brandon Marshall. Any sense for who they who they?
Who they does? Does Marshall still have it? I mean
he's bounced around him. They like him a lot. You know,

(01:27:27):
it was if because at first, you know, the game
does the offer, and you know, I was talking to
Sean Payton that night and he says, look, I don't
want this to drag out like others, you know, like
the Browns. I don't want that. So here here's the offer.
You're gonna take it. You're not gonna take it. If
it's not gonna take it, bring to Marshall is their
fault back plan. M Jay Glazer joining us in the
Dougout Live show on Fox Sports Trading. You ever seen

(01:27:48):
anything like what's happening in Buffalo, where I mean they
just mean they can't, can't they keep having a turn
to Nathan Peterman, who nobody actually has any belief in.
You know, you know this is why teams are willing
to trade so much, such a ridiculous amount to go
get what they think is their quarterback in the future,
because you could see when you have a bad quarterback,

(01:28:10):
you don't have a quarterback. Life is absolutely miserable, and
all of a sudden, your lineman look like they can't play.
You look like you can't coach, your personal all guys
look like they can't do personnel. You know, it's like,
all of a sudden, you don't know how to call
a football game when you have a quarterback, all of
a sudden, you're smart. Also on your linemen are really good.
All of sudden you know how to pick players. It
really is it. It's staggering what it could do to

(01:28:34):
an organization, and then staggering when you swing away so
hard for it to be and you miss how much
it sets you back as well, Jay Glazer joining us
in the Doug Ootlans Show. Just touchdown Atlanta, getting ready
to go over to Fort Bragging and do that the
pregame port betting, I'm sorry for betting, and and do
all of our Fox NFL NFL Sunday um duties as

(01:28:57):
celebrate the veterans for Veterans Day, which is this Monday joint.
Just here in the Doug Gotlips on Fox Sports Radio.
Let me take it to Pittsburgh last night, Thursday Night football.
The Steelers look like a Super Bowl contender as they
light up a pretty good Carolina Panthers team. Granted it's
Thursday night road teams have a tendency to struggle, and
this is an explosive offense. What does this do? What

(01:29:17):
are you hearing about? What happens with Lebyan Bell? Does
he show up and sign where he said out the
whole year? Well, so here's what happened. A few weeks ago.
Though he was planning on coming in bye week, but
the Steelers informed his agent, well, we're gonna, you know,
have you. We want you to sign a two week
roster redemption. We don't pay you for those two weeks

(01:29:38):
and you know, their thing is, we don't know what
kind of shape he's in. We've just been seeing a
jet ski. We haven't seen him do anything else. We're
gonna see and they get salary cap um, they get
credit towards the cap for every week that he holds
out they left to pay him. So in this case,
like we're rolling, we're gonna you dug your heels him.
We're gonna dig or heals him. So they want to
give him a two week roster exemption. He has to

(01:29:58):
agree to that. Four he ever even signs his tender
and agrees to that, all that has to be done
and submitted to the league by four o'clock Eastern time
on Tuesday. If it's not submitted, if it's not done,
even if he agrees at three fifty five, it doesn't matter.
Has to be all signed, steal delivered to the leading
by four o'clock or else he cannot play it all

(01:30:21):
this year. And if he doesn't play this year, you know, regardless,
he's going to be a free agent after this year. Um,
and their options there are they're not gonna hit him
with the franchise tagy game, because that will be the
average of the top five players not running backs, the
players in the NFL, which is quarterbacks and that's you know,
high twenties. It's to have a number for running back. Um,
they can let them go be a free agency if

(01:30:42):
they do that. When you lose good players like that
in free agency. That's what we hear about these compensatory drafts.
Actually in the draft, that will be a third round
compensatory draft pick, and which is, by the way, what
they were looking for when they're looking at trade and
they're looking for a three plus or a two or
something something alone those line or they have the ability
to slap him with the transition tag and that allows

(01:31:04):
them to match it to offer him if they want
to sign him to a contract. But any team who's
gonna try and find him to a contract is gonna
make it very difficult for the Steelers to match. Um.
The best guess on if he signs. I don't Here's
the thing. I don't want to stay war. I like
to be right every time. I know you do it,
and I know you have I know you have no

(01:31:25):
feeling leaning one. Okay, how about this one? Do you
believe that because every time he's supposed to have been there,
he hasn't shown. His teammates thought this is part of
this issue, is they've been left in the dark because he,
you know, letting the believer that he's shown up week one,
and then he didn't and they got really ticked off
about it. And then you know, there's reports and I
don't know if them or nothing, he's coming by the
week and that doesn't happen. So every time we think

(01:31:47):
he's gonna come in, we don't. So yes, as of yesterday,
nobody heard from him at the Steelers. They saw that
he's playing basketball. Nobody he had hurt from him yea
at the Steelers. So it's it's I don't want to
say anything because this dude could change his mind that
you know in two seconds. Do you believe that Dez
getting hurt gives him pause? Like, hey man does he

(01:32:08):
hadn't been with a team. You know, he goes through
a cell practices, he tears up his killies, tend and
I got a pay day. I mean, this is the
guy who thinks he has a huge payday coming. Do
you think that affects his desire to get in and
play a couple of games with the Steelers. I think
he should have should think about that before and because
that's you know, I was asked the question of guys
at this point, would you even show up? You really

(01:32:28):
lost eight million bucks, You've got another six coming. Would
you show up and risk a major injury that would
take away that big pay day? I don't really answer
that question. I don't know what I would do at
this point. Um, you know, at this point looks it's
gonna be hard to make up all as funny as
it is to get that kind of contract, and he's
looking for he wants to get paid like a receiver.

(01:32:49):
It's gonna be really hard. But if he goes after him,
does somebody gets hurt? That is obviously just gonna starfla
his ability to make some money or you. But if
he goes out there like, here's the other thing that
I don't haven't heard anybody say, like, and this is
what I think it could have helped Dez had he
not been heard, is if you go out there and
you play well, and you play well in the playoffs,

(01:33:10):
you know how guys get overpaid because everybody's watching the
players like, oh Man levy on as good as James
Conner is levy On Bell is that much better. He's
worth it. Like you said, here's the thing. It's is
James Conner's team. Now they're not looking to change back
at all. This Yer's team that you're rolling with him.
And I think if first there was anger in there
from some people in the Steelers. First it was you know, okay,

(01:33:31):
we get him and he's doing that. Then it became
all right, come on, let's go. Then it became anger,
and now it's there's no anger out there anymore. It's
just like, I can't believe we got to this point.
It's accept it's acceptance. It's like the stages of grief.
It's almost like when you and you know your girlfriend
and us in there, you get a fight and you
just put a ghost boking to sit there and act
like oh I want to break, and he's gonna keep

(01:33:52):
doing it and doing it and doing it, and nobody
says that, Okay, I'm sorry, honey, let's just get back
together here, and instead they're like, nope, nobody's gonna say
we're sorry. Here. Is kind of like the situation Jay
Glazer joining us in the Doug Got Lip Show here
on Fox Sports Radio o b J saying, Hey, our
goals to win eight in a row? Uh? Is this
is it? I mean it feels it feels forced, like

(01:34:13):
being overly positive feels forced? And am I the only
one taking that on? Your goal should be with with
sixteen in a row? Should Yeah? I just win one.
You can't win a eight unless you win one. It's
like our goals win this week. Let's let's let's just
win this week before we get out of ourselves. Whatever
you can. I mean, if you want to stay that,
that's fine or whatever. You know. I the team has

(01:34:34):
a lot of they have problems in that locker room. Um,
there's just man, there's there's bad energy and there. They
have a lot of issues, which is why they have
the second pick of the draft in the first place.
And a couple of players isn't gonna change those issues.
It's a bad culture in there. And the offensive line
is it doesn't matter who you put a quarterback, you're
gonna have major issues there. Every time somebody misses the past,

(01:34:56):
it's like there's a pity party. Everybody's throwing their arms
up and like, oh man, like somebody wronged them in
the path. It's got a change, man, There's just I'm
glad he's saying this, but there's not been enough positivity
in there, and past server is a positive guy. I
don't care. You could have you could have put Tony
Robbins in there in that locker room. Would still heat

(01:35:16):
of trouble getting that locker room right. Last thing, Aaron
Rodgers comes to your gym. That doesn't mean that you
guys are best friends, but you know among the sources
you have, you and Aaron have been close over the years. Uh,
it feels like McCarthy has lost that locker room. It
just does does I don't there's there's every time they
show a sideline shot of Aaron Rodgers, he doesn't look happy,

(01:35:39):
And the same is true for Mike McCarthy. I don't
think this season should be over because of the schedule
that they have in front of them, but it feels
like it's over because you talk about negative energy. Feels
like there's negative energy there. You know what. But we
we have the same story with McCarthy and Earra, like
six years. It's every year and then every year something
happens with these guys and they get up get whether

(01:36:00):
it's whatever whatever adjustment them is, and they become a
terror down the stretch and they become that team, but
you don't want to face head into the playoffs, and
it's just it's the same script that we haven't changed
that script at all over the last however many years. Jay,
Thanks so much for joining us. Uh I know you
guys do great stuff with the troops. Look forward to
seeing you on on on Sunday on Fox. Thank you

(01:36:22):
body appreciate it all right. The m v P Foundation,

down another great college football weekend with Joe Klatt. Next,

(01:37:06):
it's a great job. With all things NFL. The best
college football crew calling games is Gus, Joe Klatt, and
Jenny Taft. If if you didn't watch the end of
West Virginia versus Texas last week, I mean, it hit
all three different. The reason they're so good is nobody

(01:37:29):
translates the excitement of sport like gust Us right, and
then you know, for my money, you don't get any
better analyst in terms of not just it's not just
the information he's giving giving, but the pacing and the
the the economy of words. Then Joel Clatt, and then
you go down to the sideline, it's Jenny Taft and
she's conducting an interview and all of a sudden there's

(01:37:51):
a koffio going behind it and she just kind of
keeps takes one look over shoulder keys like it's a
it's a perfect crew. Joe Clatt, who has perfect hair,
joins us on the Doug Gotlt Show. He's got Ohio State,
Michigan State. But let's let's go back to last week. Um,
West Virginia comes down and an absolute seed, a perfect

(01:38:11):
dime thrown. I mean that's that's like that's a quarterback dream,
right like to throw that's a drop in the bucket throw.
It was a perfect throw, and he was off platform,
you know, he wasn't he wasn't balanced. It wasn't the
perfect setting in the pocket. And I think so many
young quarterbacks can learn from that because I will tell you,

(01:38:33):
and it's probably very similar to a jump shot. You know,
you never shoot a jump shot in the game like
you're just sitting there on the arc, you know, and
it's just a straight up jump shot. There's always something
you've got to do to balance yourself up to get
your release in a proper spot. And Wokeer was having
to move up into the pocket. It wasn't perfect for him,
like a shortstop moving across the middle. All of a sudden,
he gets his body in a place where he can

(01:38:53):
throw the ball and he dropped a perfect pass. I
can tell you right now from experience, that's the toughest
path to make, which is essentially a steam route where
he's running almost directly away from you, and so the
depth factor is much harder than if he's to the
side and you've got to throw it basically right over
his head and drop it into the basket. He did it,
and then Gary Fennings made the catch. It was incredible. Okay,

(01:39:16):
but there's there's okay, but there's there's a couple of
different elements I want to ask you about, okay, and
I know this is like a week removed. So Ryan's
are my producers like, why are you asking about it?
Because if you want there's okay. So I'm watching the
game and it looked like West Virginia was disorganized. Right,
there's a great point. You canna explain that roal. So

(01:39:39):
what happened was West Virginia. First of all, the officiating
the entire day was an abomination. It was awful that
officiating crew, quite frankly, should get suspended. They probably won't
because we never, in hindsight, do anything to officials that
are are are poor. The officials made a giant mistake,
giant mistake. They helped snap without a substitution for the offense.

(01:40:03):
And and so Will Grew was looking at the official
like what are you doing? And that's why it looked
like he was confused, because he was. The clock was
supposed to stop, wasn't The clock was running. The clock
was supposed to stop because I believe they had just
gotten the first down. But remember the clock starts again
once the down box had hit the ground. So even
if even if the other even if the personnel is

(01:40:26):
still running on off the feed like you're holding because
because in college ball you have to if you switch personnel,
you have to allow the defense to switch personnel. So
even if you're holding the other team from stabbing the ball,
the clock still runs. Well. See, here's the thing is
that the defense only gets to change personnel with the
officials help if the offense does it first. And and

(01:40:47):
because the fact that West Virginia did not substitute, Will
Grier was expecting to be able to snap the ball
right away. So he goes up to the line of
scrimmage expecting to snap it, and the officials helped the snaps.
I felt falsely because Texas was running guys on the field,
and I think they got confused about who was substituting
and from where, and they helped the snap. And that's

(01:41:07):
why Greers looking at him like, come on, what are
you doing. I was actually um, I think that they
still had a time out left. I was actually surprised
that they didn't take one right then, but they got
the matchup that they liked, and they hit Jennings in
the end zone. Okay, so so they score and now
they're going and Holgerson's like, Hi, you want to win
the game, let's win the game. So he's got to

(01:41:28):
he's got two. So so first they come out and
I'm telling you, it looked like Varsity Blues oop, do
you right? They got their tall wide receiver outs to
left and four four over on the other side of
the field, and they're like, hey, we're just we're just
going matchup. And Herman calls the time out, and he
called two time outs, and and then and and then
they that now Tom Herman's got a double team on

(01:41:51):
the wide receiver, so he just he just runs a
little zero route and Will Greer runs in and goes
horns down while he's running in. How much of that
is Holgerson? How much that is Greer radiant? Well, it's
it's both. Okay. So first off, let me explain the formation,
because it was the same formation all three times that
they came out to line up for it. The first

(01:42:13):
time they came out, what they did is the time
out was called, they go back to the huddle, and
all they did was flip it. So they just flipped
the strength. They switched where the ball was because you
can choose where the ball is set on a two
point place, So they chose the right middle to begin with,
and they had the single receiver on the right side.
Then they moved to the left middle of the field
and moved the single receiver to the left side. So
I mean they had four wide receivers on the right

(01:42:33):
side of low career. Here's how it lines up. They've
got three on the far right outside of the numbers,
two right at the line of scrimmage, one right behind him.
So that's set up for a three receiver screen. If
there's only two defenders out there, he just throws it
all the way out there. The two block the two,
and then the ball carrier runs in for the the
slot guy on that side, the inside, the fourth guy.

(01:42:54):
He's on a one on one what's called a jerk
route or a stick route. He's got generally a two
way go most of the time, that's the outside, which
is the stickway. If he's the one on one and
you like the leverage, then you control it to that
player and then he's got the one on one on
the backside for a slant, and he if he's got
one on one there, he can throw that route, so
he can do whatever he wants. So that's why it's
part Dana. Dana designs it, but then he's putting it

(01:43:16):
completely in Will Greer's hands. And then the last option,
which is essentially the fourth option, is if they defend
everything in the past, go ahead and take the quarterback draw.
And so they did defend it, and they did a
great job. After seeing the formation three different times. They
double team the slant for David Sills. They had good
leverage on the slot, and they had three guys over
the screen on the outside. And what they didn't account

(01:43:37):
for is that a guy that doesn't normally run was
about to run. And Will Grier made the right decision
and he had enough moxie and enough stones to go
ahead and take it in and he did so, and
and that's why it was such a great design and
a great play from Dana Holgers. And I gotta tell you, man,
I admire the fact that Dana did that because it
was the right call, it was the right play, and
he stuck with it essentially three times. You know, the

(01:44:00):
initial time all time out. He sticks with it all
time out again and he sticks with it, and that
takes an amazing amount of breath. And look at this
is where basketball and football are so similar, right like
you're looking at you have a really good play has
enough options where it has one. If you take that away,
we gotta counter to it. You take that away, we

(01:44:20):
gotta counter to it. You know, in a counter to
accounter where somebody is going to get open or somebody's
going to get an open shot based upon reading it
the defense, the question is do you trust the quarterback
or you trust the guy with the ball in basketball
to read the defense? He did, and it was what
a spectacular ending. Um. Why don't it feels like every
week in the Big twelve and you've cut you cover

(01:44:41):
Big twelve and Big ten. I know, I want to
get to the Big ten game a second. There's always
somebody taking some sort of shot or getting in some
sort of argument with Tom Herman, whoa these guys not
like Tom Herman. Well, the problem is that Tom steps
into this a lot on his own. I felt like
he he stepped into this one on his own. This

(01:45:02):
was sour grapes. He basically says that at the end,
Greers should have been called for some sort of unsportsman
life for holding out the ball going into the end zone.
The horns down was to a life and that was
post touchdown. And and that's not what he was arguing about.
He was arguing that he thought he was taunting with
the ball because he held it out before he actually
crossed the goal line. Which that's a suspect argument at best,

(01:45:24):
much less in that situation. The officials are not going
to call that unless he's pointing it directly at a player,
which he was not, was pointing it up towards the stands,
or you could argue just across the goal line. Then
when he went horns down, he did get flagged. And
that's the reason that Texas had a chance at the
end of the game. This is what I don't understand.
And if I was talking to Tom Herman, I would say, Tom,
you gotta understand the official did give you a rescue line.

(01:45:47):
They gave you the fact that you were going to
get the ball at the forty line yard line exactly
as I discussed during the game. Uh, and you were
going to have a time out in a little bit
of time on the clock, or you could go down
the field and potentially kick the game winning field goal
with the in so the fact that he's still whining
even though that the officials did give him a lifeline
for the Horns down after the touchdown, is a little
bit shocking. To be honest with you. I think he

(01:46:09):
needs to get out of his own way. Quite frankly,
he's a little too emotional after these games. He needs
to get out of his own way. Joe Latt joining
us in the Doug Gott He's emotionless, he's a flat liner,
he's opinionated, he gus Jenny taff All. Right, Michigan State, Look,
you've been rightfully killing the the SEC for their completely
inflated reputation, right like l s U. Like, yes, you

(01:46:31):
beat Georgia because he got four turnovers, but you lost him.
You know, I didn't. You know, your big win is Miami.
Outside of that, he lost to Florida and then you
get donutted, you get bageled at home by Alabama and
you're you're still above you know, wazoo. Like you know,
I doesn't make any sense, But I could make the
same case about and I know it's not about Michigan State,

(01:46:52):
like Michigan State is still pretty highly ranked, and the
big wins over Penn State, who hadn't beaten anybody, Right,
so is miss you can stayed any good? Are they
capable of even beaten Ohio State? I think that they're capable.
Remember now, this is this is a team in a
in a program in particular that played for a guy
like Mark D'Antonio, that went to Ohio State in a

(01:47:12):
game that they never should have one with a backup quarterback,
and they packed the Ezekiel Elliott Ohio State Buckeyes in
in the shoe into one of the greatest upsets in
the history of the sport. Like totally underrated. They didn't
lead at all in regulation either, right, they made the
field goal as time expired. Didn't lead at all. Correct?
And and now is the game that Ezekiel Elliott called

(01:47:35):
out Coach Meyer because you didn't get as many carries
as J. K. Barrett. Probably rightfully so. But but again
I go back to the fact of like this this
program does this, they almost relish it. I was in
the building today meeting with their players and their coaches,
and they were almost giddy that this game was here.

(01:47:55):
And I'm like, you guys, realize that your quarterback has
banged up, he's got a shoulder issue, you don't have
your running back, you don't have your best wide receiver.
You've been amashing it on the offensive line. Uh you know,
I mean, like, what's it? And they're literally ditty about like,
oh man, we just want to see we want to
test ourselves. It As as corny as this sounds, it's

(01:48:16):
almost like the Spartans from three hundred, you know. It's
like they want to go out, you know, they want
to honorably like test themselves Ohio State, which is which
is fabulous, and that's I think part of the reason
why they are able to pull things like this off.
Remember now, they have the third most wins since two

(01:48:38):
thousand and thirteen against top ten teams in the country.
The only teams that have more are Alabama and Ohio State.
They're tied with o U and Clemson for nine wins
over top ten teams in the last few years. I
think since two thousand eleven is where that stack comes from.
That's that's an obscene amount for a program that hasn't
had the type of success that an Alabama or Ohio
State or Oklahoma or Clemson has had and it's it's

(01:49:00):
because they relish these opportunities. Now here's where they are
much better than Ohio State. They stopped the run. This
is the best run defense in the country. Ohio State
struggles running the football. They got a back on track
a little bit last week with two h yards on
the ground against Nebraska. But remember that's a two win
Nebraska team. So Michigan State wants to slow this game down,
take it down into the mud, a little bit of

(01:49:21):
ground and pound. Maybe they we can steal a first
down or a turnover somewhere along the lines, and then
all of a sudden, you're gonna look up and we're
going to be in the league. That's the type of
game that they want. That's the type of game that
they're going to try to get into, and quite frankly,
that's the type of game that Ohio State has struggled
with this season. Did you know that in the last
five games Ohio State has trailed in the second quarter

(01:49:42):
in every single one of them. Something's off of this team.
I can't, I can't. I mean, I know they're not
as good without Nick Bosa, but I also think that
there's just there's something off. There's a like a chemical
chemistry imbalanced thing where I don't think they don't feel
like they care that much. They're like yeah when they game.
I don't know. It just feels like something's off of
this team. I couldn't agree more. They gave up a

(01:50:05):
lot of big plays on defense. Now they got a
little bit right last week, and we'll see. Here's the
thing is that in the last couple of years, Remember
they lost to that Michigan State team. They came back
the next week and just dominated in their next game,
won by thirty. Last year, they lose that that bad
game at Iowa, they come back home, they faced this
Michigan State team and ran them out of the building.
I mean one by thirty. Last week. You think they're

(01:50:27):
going to do the same. After the Purdue loss, they
have a bye week, They've got to in Nebraska in
their home stadium. They went by five and they were
down at half. So there is something amissed right now
with Ohio State, and I can't put my finger on it.
Maybe it's the fact, Doug, that they've had fifteen fifteen
top four round picks off their defense alone in the

(01:50:47):
last three years. And at some point that just becomes
really hard to replace. Yeah, I'm covering a bunch of them.
Uh in Cincinnati coming up on Sunday with the Saints.
They got like all Ohio State defensive backfield taken on
the Bengals. Joel, great stuff, dude, enjoy enjoy watching the Spartans.
Tell everybody said hello and keep up the great work.
Awesome man, I appreciate it. Thanks so much, Joel Klatt.

(01:51:10):
Let's get you to Dan Buyer get an update. Huge
news in the NFL. If you missed it, here's Dan
dez Bryant may have ruptured his Achilles tender and practice today.
The Saints wide receiver working out there was it was
not a sure thing that he would play Sunday against
the Saints. He's actually against the Bengals. He's actually listed
as questionable for that game with an ankle injury, but
the team fears the Dez Bryant ruptured his Achilles tendon

(01:51:33):
and would be lost for the year, just two days
after signing with the team. Some other injury notes in
the NFL. Bill's rookie quarterback Josh Allen questionable to go
against the Jets because of his elbow injury. Allen hasn't
played since Week six, and if he can't start, it's
either Nathan Peterman or Matt Barkley. Jets did rule out
rookie quarterback Sam Donald for the game because of his
sprained foot. Seahawks running back Chris Carson a game time

(01:51:55):
decision with a hip injury for their matchup against the Rams.
Jaguars running back let for Nett was removed from the
injury report as he returns from a sprained ankle. Some
injury us in the NBA, Lakers point guard Lonzo ball
tweaked his ankle in practice and could miss tomorrow's game
at Sacramento. Steph Curry will miss their matchup against the
Brooklyn Nets tomorrow because of his strained growing, but the
Warriors are considering him a day to day to Bull

(01:52:18):
Scard Jimmy Butler is expected to play to night against
the King's in Sacramento, while no Kyrie Irving as the
Celtics take on the Jazz in Utah. He's out because
of personal reasons. Finally, dug the Colorado Avalanche take on
the Winnipeg Jets at eight o'clock Eastern time in tonight's
Discover Card key matchup. Speaking of matchups, become a new

back you've earned dollar for dollar at the end of

(01:52:39):
your first year. Learn more at discover dot com. Slash
match limitations apply. Doug Gotlam show, Fox Sports Radio. Let's
get to my picks five NFL five College it's five
for five, which Doug gotl Let's go. I never get

(01:53:01):
any credit for my Thursday or Monday picks. So I
was four one last weekend. College football have been killing
that twenty three and twelve on the year. NFL one
game below five hundred on Sundays. We factored in Thursdays
and Mondays. It would be far better. I would be
like ten o or five hundred whatever. I'm so if

(01:53:23):
you go that way, you should go that way. Let's
start with to me, I can't see how this is.
This is one of those games where there's just no
spread that I don't think you would take Michigan, right.
That's really kind of what it comes down to. I mean,
Michigan won this game was like seventies seven nothing. A

(01:53:44):
couple of years ago. They're taking on Rutgers, and the
Rutgers has been marginally more competitive of late, you know,
only losing to Wisconsin in snow seen and lost by
three to Northwestern. Uh, defense travels right, and I can't
see how Rutgers can score against this Michigan defense. Michigan

(01:54:07):
is a thirty eight and a half point favorite. I'm
taking Michigan a thirty eight and a half points. Just
don't see it, do uh? You you heard what Joel said,
He's like, Look, Michigan State has been a mash unit,
but they relish this their three and a half point favorites.

(01:54:29):
And there's this idea that somehow Spartan Stadium will be
like a place you you can't possibly lose. Ye know,
they lost to Michigan at home and had no offense
and frankly should have lost to Purdue or that game
should have been much closer with Purdue having field goal
kicking issues. Um, they did lose to Northwestern at home

(01:54:51):
and nearly lost to Utah State at home. I'm telling you,
Michigan State, this team just doesn't have it. And when
their offensive line was healthier, they've been at her but
they're just not good. Ohio State hasn't been as good
as a reputation but they win this game by more
than three and a half points. Give me the road
favorite again in the Big twelve in Michigan State. All right,

(01:55:14):
let's get to some home team, shall we? Sure? Um
one more home team is Notre Dame. They're taken on.
They're taken on. Florida State their thirteen a half point favorites.
I know they're starting quarterbacks not starting, but the quarterback
that is starting, whin Bush. He beat Michigan. He wasn't great.

(01:55:35):
They're not great offensively with him. But Florida State stinks
and Notre Dame has a ton of talent. Thirteen and
a half will be enough. Florida State will get smashed,
absolutely smashed by Notre Dame because Florida State has quit
on this season. Nebraska's a seventeen a half point favorite.
I'm taking Nebraska at home. It's snowing in Lincoln. Illinois stinks,

(01:55:59):
and I think Nebraska is kind of starting to figure
it out. I know Illinois lit up Minnesota. I'm gonna
take Nebraska in the points. That's fine, Do do do, dude, dude.
Let's get to the NFL. Shall we cool the game
I'm calling since Nati Bengals don't have a j Green,

(01:56:20):
but this is like the first piece of bad news
that's come the Saints. I think they were like, hey
we got Dez now, like not the Dez is a
huge part of the game plan. But ted ginn out
Now Dez Brian out playing in the cold air. Maybe
it doesn't make any sense. Like I don't think the
Bengals have great personnel. They don't, but they do have

(01:56:41):
Joe Mixon, They're starting to get healthy. I think Vontes
Burfick is gonna play, and I wouldn't be surprised if
Alex Erickson has a big game, kid out of Wisconsin.
I'm gonna take since then until least cover at home,
I think that game's gonna be closed. Leonard Fournette is
playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars. That's big. That changes their
team and changes them for the better. But um, Marlon

(01:57:06):
Mack has been awesome. Cults are three three point favorite.
I'll take the Colts at home and those points. Like
those home teams. New England's taken on Tennessee. New England
coming off that hard fought win over the Packers, but
Tennessee coming back on a short week after beating the
Dallas Cowboys. I like knowing them to win. I like

(01:57:27):
knowing them to cover. It feels like Cleveland's kind of
a mess right now. And Lenna just went on the
road and stomp the Washington Redskins. I'm all in on
the on Atlanta making a run to take Atlanta will
lay the points and the Chargers are ten point favorites

(01:57:49):
on the road. I'll take the Chargers against Oakland, who
has quit. There's your five for five there it is
five NFL five College five for five with Doug Gottlieb

the weekend Sunday Fantasy Show, Set your lineups nine am Eastern,

(02:00:01):
six o'clock Pacific, the dulcet tones of Dan byl Fox
Sports Radio. All Right, give me here's many stories in
the short period time as possible go bench Dez Bryant.
The Saints squad receivers suffered of what the team is
calling an ankle injury on their injury report, but the
NFL networked the first to report that they feary erupted
as achilles tendon. You've also got tweets coming from Michael

(02:00:21):
Thomas and mark Ingraham saying they're still gonna throw up
the X even though it doesn't look like des Bryant's
gonna play a game for the Saints. Okay, so this
is a this is a question whose career lasted less
time with their team? Dez Bryant with uh the Saints

(02:00:43):
couple of practices but didn't play a game, or do
you remember remember what happened with um didn't come to
Anthony get traded and then bought out by the Hawks. Yes,
I'd say Mellows because Brian is still gonna be a
part of the Saints for the rest of the year.
They can't at him. They're still gonna owe him his money, right,
but as he still does he hang out there. Yeah,

(02:01:06):
that's a good question. Maybe maybe to receive that professional
Wallace played one game with the Hawks. Remember I don't
actually I don't. Yeah, Rashie b he was traded to
the from the Trailblazers to the Hawks, then to the Pistons,
and they won the championship with the Pistons. The Athletic
reports the Ravens are concerned about Joe Flacco's hip injury,

(02:01:26):
and the team may turn to rookie Lamar Jackson to
start their a week eleven game against the Bengals because
the Ravens have a bye this weekend. Joe Flacco feels
like the end for the Joe Flacco feels like the
end for John Harbaugh. And they'll try and they'll try
and see what they get out of Lamar Jackson. There'll
be some electric plays, but you know, he didn't looked
good running in the NFL offense Azzy Newson was done

(02:01:48):
at the end of the year, so why John Harbor
would want to stick around anyway. I mean new GM
comes in, that's gonna a completely different looking team next year.
And the ESPN reports is the Cubs are willing to
trade basement Chris Bryant this soft season, still under team
control through some arbitration seasons, I believe coming up. But

(02:02:08):
did miss time this year because of shoulder injuries. Yeah,
he was hurt um one that makes me think his
shoulders worse than anything. But also I think I told
you guys this when that team won the World Series.
I knew people on that team is today bad culture,
a ton of egos. All those guys want to be
paid a couple hundred million dollars and that's not a team.

(02:02:30):
There's a reason that team went from winning a World
Series where people thought talent wise they could win a
couple to adman a World Series. Since some guards of
the NBA making some news, good news for Warriors. Guard
Steph Curry day today with a groin strain, but gonna
miss tomorrow's game against the Brooklyn Nets because of the
injuries suffered last night against the Bucks. You got more

(02:02:50):
guard news. You said guards making one Okay, all right,
I'll give you all of them. At one time I
was listening so Cole Buffet Celtics card Kyrie Irving not
gonna play to night against the Jazz. He was awesome
last night and that come back person the personal reasons
he doesn't want to get dunked on by Donovan Mitchell.
That I do have more guard news. Jimmy Butler expected

(02:03:11):
to play against the Kings in Sacramento tonight. It's news.
Whatever he does, it is like anything like Jimmy Butler
took took a dump after practice. Did he tell Karl
anything Downs to get out of the way. Did he
warn him it was on Thibodeau's desk. No, I'm just
kidding on the floor. Oh. Finally, speaking of college hoops,

(02:03:33):
the n C double as forcing b y U s
men's basketball program to vacate forty seven wins over two seasons.
After it was revealed guard Nick Emery received him proper
benefits from boosters as for some of the violations. He
received golf and meals at country clubs, tickets to you
two concerts, and admission to I Guess Harry Potter World
at Universal studios from Booster Brandon Tindall. Yeah, the whole

(02:03:55):
thing is we I got, I got. I'm gonna spend
like tonight reading this story. So apparently he started hanging
out with this guy. He's he's considered a booster because
like ten years ago he gave five sixty dollars to
the athletic department. But he's getting all these like benefits
and he ultimately got a divorce. I guess he felt
like he was married too young. I don't know. It's

(02:04:19):
bagging out there and pressed when b y U gets
caught cheating, like now, we really got to kind of
check ourselves. It is one of the great coach and
you want to talk about the greatest coaching job recruiting
jobs of all time. Do you do you do you
want to come to college to play basketball in front
of people? Yes? Okay, but there's a couple of rules here.

(02:04:40):
No sex, no smoking, no drinking, and and uh yeah,
we don't play on practice on Sundays. Where do I
sign up for that? Um? I don't think Clemson goes
down to Boston College. I don't think there's many upsets
in college football, which means I'll be wrong. I'll be wrong.
Check out the radio called Bengals Saints. It's not me
