Speaker 1 (00:01):
Forty nine in Douglas County and one hundred and twenty
three in Sarpy County still out of power. And one
of our dear friends is one of those still out
of power, and it is not particularly a happy camper.
Kent Pavelka Joints for a few minutes this morning. Kent
and I have stayed in touch on this and your
travail's dealing with the power company. Kent. And you're still dark, right, Well.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I've been dark since nineteen ninety seven. Well, yeah, since
the since the remember the ice storm, and yep we
were out eleven days that that I remember. And you
remember Fred Peterson and John in there every morning. Yeah,
and you know they'd look at me and say, no,
it didn't get your place. And you're living the.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Same house now. You might want to consider moving before
the next wind storm windstorm comes in.
Speaker 2 (00:54):
Well, if we'd had a monicum of sense, we'd have
a generator.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
I guess.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
But at any rate, I'm thinking that there ought to
be a lottery, right. I jokingly put this out the
other day. The new CEO, relatively new CEO at OPPD
I think, is making eight fifty six now. So my
idea was well, first thing I wanted to know is
if he had power number one and then number two,
(01:22):
how about one hundred grand's fifth to the last person
who gets back online? And I got my hand up
on ball. Yeah. So, but you know, folks out there,
some of whom don't have much sense of humor, took
exception to that little really really yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:42):
Hey, what about what about your community? Because I know
we've talked about this a little bit over the last
few days on the texting. What about your communication back
and forth with Power company. I know that's been a
source of frustration for some people.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
It's been great. I want to shout out to to
our district representative, Craig Moody. He's been wonderful. District five
Rotisium and Wendell Young and a lady named Melissa, and
you know, ever since Saturday, they've been saying, yeah, you're
gonna be here. It could be any time now. So,
I mean, I understand totally the way they've done this.
(02:18):
I mean, if they're gonna spend an hour trying to
get people up online again, they want to get as
many up as they can in that hour, And there's
only twenty eight people in our in our little U
circuit here, So I get it.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Wow, see kit kit, there's a kind of kid kat.
There's a can't, there's a great This is a great
opportunity for you. You could be the face of Omaha victims.
You know, you could be the last guy with power.
I mean, think of the opportunity. There could be some
great branding opportunities here. You could be the one. You
could be the cheerleader for all of those still without
(02:50):
power or cold food, or without hope, yeah, hope too,
helpless ken.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yeah, this go viral. I mean, I understand that, but
I want to check. I want to check the last
person on to get a big old fat check or
at least a credit. Yeah, credit right exactly? Free free power, yeah,
free power for a month.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
Well, it's it's interesting. We talked with Lynnyl the other
day a little bit. I don't know if there's any
hard answer to this, but I noticed this morning that here,
on the seventh day, the traffic signals of ninety third
and Dodge you are back on. And you don't live
far from there, so you m you must have a
particularly troublesome circuit. I don't know who the deal is.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
Well, there's only twenty eight people on that are out
of power on our circuit. As I said, so, I
understand we're at the bottom of the totem bowl as
far as priority, but I do want to say this,
it's been kind of fun in a way, in an
odd way. I mean, no, you know, I'm taking our dadge.
It's across to the neighbors to plug into their outside
(03:57):
ac you know. I mean you can't.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
And so did you ask them about that or did
you ask him about that? Or did you just do it?
Speaker 2 (04:06):
They have no, they have no idea. It's an extension court.
But anyway, uh uh, it's been kind of it's been
kind of fun. I mean, you know, no television, limited
access to the internet. Uh, it's dark at night and
you're sitting in your easy chair, you know, and go
to bed and you're sweating all over the pillow, bottle.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
Bottle of Crawfords. I understand.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, uh, but seriously, it's kind of a throwback to
simpler days. You know. It's given me pause to reflect
on those days when you weren't just kind of in
a frenzy at all times because your attention right by
all these games, well.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
You know what, that's I think that's a very healthy
way to look at it when you're you know, because
what are you going to do. You can't turn it
on yourself. Well, Kent, thanks and uh, you're the voice
of Oscar Basketball. Presumably you'll have power back by the time. Yeah,
you know, you need to do your homework on the game.
So imagine the billboards. Okay, this man, Yeah this, imagine
the photographs and the and the viral memes. This is
(05:11):
the Fanes of Omaha, power Less, the boy.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
The voice of the Voice of Very Little Hope.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah, the voice no Hope. Thank you again. We'll be
in touch.
