Often mimicking a common cold, respiratory syncytial virus, also known as RSV, is a common respiratory virus that can cause airway inflammation. While RSV can affect anyone, infants and young children are at the highest risk for serious and life-threatening illnesses due to their immature immune systems and smaller airways.
