Should Pete Hegseth Revoke his Nomination?

to help carry out that solemn task. President like Donald Trump,
wanted a Fox News Weekend host to hold that post,
the forty four year old combat veteran Pete Hegseth. But

tonight that nomination appears to be on the rocks. Hegseeth
is facing new allegations of sexual misconduct and excessive drinking.
Tonight's CBS News has learned that Hegseth may not have
the support of enough Republican Senators to be confirmed for
the job, meaning his nomination is in serious jeopardy.

He's taken on these woke issues. We are the third

Department has one of the largest budgets out there, and
we've got we're in the black here in Florida. So
I think DeSantis would be a great play pick. Plus,
he was a jag in the Navy. He over he
was a jag for the Navy Seals. He's been to Guantanamo,

he was stationed down there, So he's who we need
leading the Department of Defense.

Uh, Veronica, There's no question, Okay, no question. Ron DeSantis
is eminently qualified to be Secretary of Defense. There's no question.
To me, there's almost no argument about that. I mean,
and to me, you can always have an argument, but
in my view, yes, there's no question he would be
an outside secretary of Defense.

Kamala Harris, she was vice president. They wanted to be president.

problem with them. So what is it that Hegseth has
done that you think disqualifies them.

the military, you can be court martialed for having an
affair and adultery is not tolerated ever. And within our ranks,
I know a two star fighter pilot that just was canned.

you know, but it's not tolerated. And if you get caught,
your court martialed. So I honestly, I think we need

to move on. This is sort of like I wanted
Matt Gates, but when they start to become the detractor
from Trump and it's not going their way. You know,
the second guy on the bench is DeSantis. He's great,
there's no skeletons in his closet, and Florida is a
shining example of his leadership. Plus the enemy will be

afraid of DeSantis. You know, he's got that strong personality,
he's serious, so I think he would be a wonderful
Department of Defense pick. And you know, Secretary Austin has
been a disaster too, so we've got to get this
back in order. And DeSantis is a leader, plucky other
you know, a law degree too, so he'll be perfect

and his wives, and that he also apparently now is
showing up to work or did show up to work
under the influence of alcohol, no evidence whatsoever. Patrick in

thinks that he's got to go as well, well, that
it's time to replace him with someone like DeSantis, who

is apparently now on the next replacement list for Trump,
and that this would be a very very good move

So the Secretary Defense is what's called a convenient authority.
So he's one of a few civilians who actually can
prefer charges against military personnel. So it would be very
difficult for him to sit the top the military justice
system when he there's a good chance he violated it.

But getting back to the DeSantis versus the Hegsteph question.
My own view of HEG Stephan and Matt Gates for
that matter, is that they're more or less they were
the early stage bomb throwers of a political movement, kind
of like the Sam Adams is of of you know,
the MAGA movement. But every political movement moves on from

those people to what Victor Davis Hanson calls like that,
he calls them, I think the hyper technocratic or you know,
hyper competent. You know, the American Revolution did that with
Nathaniel Green and being a Morgan and and Madison and
people like that. So DeSantis is the right man for

the job because we're no longer a voice in the wilderness.
We're now a you know, we're now a majority movement
or majority you know, we're wanting things. So we have
to move on from the bomb throwers. I mean, the
last time we left the bomb thrower in charge, he
was nuke Gingridge when he was the Speaker, and that

turned out to be more or less a managerial disaster.
So my own sense is that DeSantis is the white
man for the moment.

with the bottle, that he comes in hungover or they
