The five Kiwi songs nominated for the 2023 APRA Silver Scroll Awards have been confirmed- and there's some big names in the mix.

Marlon Williams, The Beths, Avantdale Bowling Club, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Tiny Ruins have all made the shortlist ahead of October's ceremony.

Flicks.co.nz editor Steve Newall says the awards celebrate the craft of songwriting, with each nominated artist being judged of how they pair words with music.
