Bonnie Garmus' debut novel has enjoyed seemingly-instant success one year on from publication.
After a decades-long career as a copywriter, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of being an author by tirelessly working to get 'Lessons in Chemistry' out in front of readers
The book went on to sell millions of copies and inspire an Apple TV+ miniseries, starring Brie Larson.
Garmus says she never imagined studios would flock to her work so soon after 'Lessons in Chemistry' started getting noticed.
"I was going into the experience knowing two of my friends had been rejected by every single publisher in Frankfurt- I was ready, I thought there would be no-one. My agent called 24 hours later and she said- it's on fire!"
