The Twinning Project was originally launched in the UK in a bid to rehabilitate prisoners with the power of sport, and it's now making its way to New Zealand.
The project is a collaboration between Auckland FC, FIFA Foundation and The Department of Corrections.
Auckland FC Foundation head Harry Ngata says the club has already had a significant impact on local communities, and this project is another channel for that type of engagement.
"It's a really exciting project, I'm delighted with the start... we've got five weeks to go and another two cohorts, so we have three cohorts for the year."
