Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is proposing a property tax

increase to fund early childhood education programs. Houston State Senator
Paul Bettencourt says this would be a complete waste.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
The state is already doing this. We've spent over eight
and a half million dollars into the public education system,
including pre K. Counties shouldn't be in this business. They
should be concentrating on what they're supposed to do and
not try to get into public education.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
The Dolgo's plan would add ten dollars per one hundred
thousand in property value. If passed by Commissioner's Court next month,
