A new study published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Disease
Monitoring, which found a strong link between a common and inexpensive vitamin and a
lower risk of developing dementia. Remember dementia is a progressive brain related
condition or persistent loss of intellectual functioning, especially with impairment of
memory and abstract thinking, and often with personality change, resulting from organic
disease of the brain.

eight twenty two. It's the Doctor Bob Martin s y.

(01:23):
and you're invited to help us help you. And when
I say us, I mean my co host who's with us,
doctor Adam Brocklan, and the executive producer of the show, Adam.
Doctor Adam, thank you for being here this hour with us, sir.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
And thanks for having me, Doctor Bob. How are you today?

Speaker 4 (01:40):
I'm doing fantastic. Hope you are too.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
I wanted to get started this hour with something I
know you're aware of. It has to do with new
research out finding once again that by taking an inexpensive
vitamin that's really available anywhere, you can actually lower your
risk of losing your memory and your cognition and therefore

(02:04):
your mind in the future. Big brand new study out
published in Alzheimer's and Dementia Diagnosis, a very reputable journal,
talking about finding a strong link between a common inexpensive
vitamin called vitamin D three supplements and a lower risk

(02:27):
of developing dementia. I mean, why aren't we hearing about
that more often?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Well? Why should we?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
It would be too practical to tell people go out
get a little bit of vitamin D by getting short
exposures to sunlight, not to get a sunburned, but just
enough to have the sunlight convert the cholesterol in your
skin to vitamin D or if you don't want to

(02:59):
do that, or you can and do that, go to
the health food store and pick up some vitamin D
three supplementation to lower your risk of losing your memory,
losing your cognitive skills, and putting you at risk of
dementia or the worst form of dementia, Alzheimer's disease. Remember,

(03:19):
dementia is a progressive being, a brain related common, persistent
loss of an intellectual functioning.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
Who wants to do that? Who wants that loss?

Speaker 2 (03:28):
Nobody, especially with impairmentive memory and abstract thinking, we want
to keep those intact. And often with personality change you
see with dementia, and it is bad. When you see it,
you know it. I mean, look at former President Joe Biden,
what he went through. That's a classic example. But we've

(03:49):
seen it in others. We've seen it maybe in our relatives,
our grandparents, our parents, or other people that we know.
And yet here we find something as simple as get
more sunlight and getting vitamin D not to get sunburned. Folks,
I understand the argument of skin cancer, but yet when

(04:09):
you look at that argument, and dissect it. You see,
as soon as the sunscreens started dropping into the marketplace,
skin cancer has gone up. What's wrong with that picture. Well,
researchers have followed over twelve thousand people for over a
decade and discovered that those who took vitamin D three

(04:30):
vitamin D three supplements available at any health food store
were forty percent less likely to develop dementia compared to
people who don't take vitamin D three supplements. And I
might add for people who don't get enough sunlight or
people who smear too much of that sunblocker you know,
the SPS three thousand on your skin. They all quit working,

(04:54):
by the way, after eighteen just so you know you're
paying for nothing. Within the first five years alone of
supplementing people, eighty four percent of supplement users remained dementia free,
whilst only sixty eight percent of non supplement users. So
that's where you get the big time reduction in dementia risk.

(05:16):
The protective effects of vitamin D three were especially strong
in those with mild cognitive impairment or who had a
specific type of gene defect apoe four. You don't have
to worry about that. It is a well known genetic
risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. And if you take vitamin
D three supplements and stay active with your mind and

(05:41):
don't do things that can sabotage your mind, like taking
flu shots with aluminum minute that end up in your
brain and increase your risk of take of getting Alzheimer's
or of dementia, then you're good to go. Once processed
in the human body, vitamin D three becomes a sterre
hormone that influences over one thousand different genes. This is

(06:05):
why vitamin D supplementation has to be part of your
immediate program tomorrow morning that you take it with your
breakfast D three vitamin D three and if you are
concerned about taking too much of it, because it is
a fat soluble vitamin and that's possible, you can ask
your doctor too. And your doctor ought to be doing
this anyway over the age of twenty five, in my opinion,

(06:26):
running routine blood tests of twenty five hydroxy vitamin D
so that you can get a beat on how much
you need to supplement or not. And it's an inexpensive
blood test, and that'll tell you if you need more
vitamin D and most people are dificient in vitamin D
just like their dificion and magnesium.

Speaker 4 (06:44):
Oh, by the way, you should take.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
The vitamin D and magnesium together along with vitamin K two.
This helps regulate five percent of the human genome, which
is massive, by entering the cell with the vitamin D
and turning on these jenes or turning them off, depending
on which way they need to go, which plays a
key role in everything from inflammation to neural communication. That's

(07:08):
where you get the dementia. But I remember interviewing Dale
Alexander years ago. I mean I'm talking about thirty forty
years ago when I first started my broadcast career, Dale Alexander.
Look him up on do a google on Dale Alexander.
He was called the Codfather. He was called the Codfather

(07:30):
because he recommended to everybody to take cod liver oil
first thing in the morning, teaspoon or a tablespoon, and
whatever condition you had, you're gonna get better with cod
liver oil.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Why.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
It's got vitamin D in it, it has vitamin A
in it, it has omega three fatty ascids in it.
This guy was so far ahead of his time that
we did a debate on my radio show between Dale Alexander.
He was a layperson by the way, he wasn't even
a doctor who's just a prolific researcher who read a lot,
a lot of the medical journals. And I had him

(08:02):
debating one time a medical doctor of rheumatologist about taking
cod liver oil for rheumatoid arthritis, and the medical doctor
was just, you know, just just an obstinate, closed minded
person who thought he knew all that, and Dale Alexander said, look,
you know, I've observed this in my own family and

(08:24):
with many many people. Lay people there are arthritis gets
better when they take cod liver oil, which has vitamin
D in it. But at that time we didn't know
about vitamin D and helping to reduce dementia and cognitive problems.
We just knew about it to help aggy breaking joints
because it decreased inflammation. It tamped down inflammation. And of

(08:45):
course the rheumatologist MD said, oh, you're a quack. You're
given snake oil with the cod liver oil. Well you
need you need methatrex, say you need these vile you
know whatever drug was pred in his own, whatever drug
was going on there, He's said you need drugs. Drugs
are the only thing you can do for rheumatoid arthritis.
And so he berated this Dale Alexander, and I kind of,

(09:08):
you know, was refereeing it. It was sad and as
much as I tried to defend Dale Alexander, it just
sounded like he just got his, you know, his lunch
handed to him. So about six months later, a medical
journal published a study. It was out of New York.
One of the hospitals teaching hospitals in New York published

(09:30):
a study of how if you take cod liver oil
it lowers the symptomatology of rheumatoid arthritis, the very disease
we were talking about. That this rheumatologist was just going
crazy over thinking that somehow everything that he had learned

(09:53):
in medical school was the gospel and there was nothing
to offer anybody on an alternative basis. And how dare
this Dale Alexander write about ten books on taking cod
liver oil for the common cold, for arthritis and you
name it, you just give it to kids in the morning,
they get less flu, etc. And helping so many people

(10:17):
in his life, This Dale Alexander, which I had the
honor of meeting and knowing and interviewing, and he was
right all along, folks. And the rheumatologist was completely off
his rocker giving people drugs that made them worse in
the long run, and some of them were deadly. So

(10:38):
something as simple as vitamin D here in this study
which is in cod liver oil, which you can take
if you want, and the latest study out about how
vitamin D helps slow down the aging process by sparing
telemer length. You can also look that up if you
want as well.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
All right, we've got the health alternative up of the
week coming up.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
It's the Doctor Bob Martin Show.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
What's Wrong Within, What's Wrong Within, What's wrong within, concident
as frongs. It's time to.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
Get the welcome back to everyone. We hope you enjoyed
the break you are listening to the Doctor Bob Martin Show.

conversation going and empower each other to live our healthiest lives.
I want to draw attention to a study that I found,

(12:01):
and I talked with doctor Bob about this, and we said, hey,
let's bring it up on the show. It's the gut
cancer connection. How your fork could be your best medicine
or your worst enemy. Let's dive into this groundbreaking study
that connects the dots between what we eat in our
risk for gastro intestinal cancers. And let me tell you,

(12:22):
these findings are too important just to ignore. So I
want you to picture this. Your digestive system is like
a bustling metropolis with trillions of microscopic workers keeping everything
running smoothly. But new research is suggesting that certain foods
might be like toxic waste dumps in the otherwise thriving city.

(12:47):
In particular, red and processed meats that create an acidic
environment where cancer selves thrive. Now here's where it gets interesting.
This study is from South Korea. It's from Soul National University,
attract nearly eleven thousand adults and for nearly a decade
in length, and if you're keeping track, that's longer than

(13:08):
most celebrity marriages. And this is what they found. Those
who regularly consumed acid forming foods like those processed meats
significantly had higher rates of stomach, colon and pancreatic cancers.
And men, listen up, you're most vulnerable at this. This
doubled the risk compared to those women here. And you ask, well,

(13:33):
why this gender gap? Well, it turns out mother nature
gave women some extra protection, better kidney function, for pH
balance and protective effects that estrogen has. But ladies don't
get too comfortable after mena pause, those advantages start to decrease. Now,

(13:54):
before you swear off burgers forever, let's talk about some
solutions here. The researcher found that every ten percent increase
that you consume with plant based foods, it correlates to
a measurable decrease in cancer risk. And get this, even
acidic foods like oranges and tomatoes, while technically acidic, actually

(14:17):
have an alkalizing effect in your body and compact with
cancer fighting compounds. So here's my prescription for a healthier gut.
I'd like to try a rainbow challenge, maybe aim for
five different colored plants at every meal. And I think
we need to use meat as a condiment. Instead of
a twelve ounce steak, we need to try three ounces

(14:40):
alongside a mountain of vegetables. And don't forget about our
fermented friends like kim chi and sauer kraut. It helps
maintain a crucial gut balance. And I know what you're thinking.
You're thinking, but doc, don't. I can't give up my bacon.
Don't take away my bacon. Here's something to try. Try
coke nut bacon or mushroom bacon. And remember, friends, we're

(15:05):
not talking about deprivation here. It's okay to have that
burger steak occasionally, just maybe a smaller portion. And but
we're also talking about upgrades. When you choose a black
bean burger over processed meat, you're not just avoiding that
potential harm. You're giving your body a boost of fiber

(15:25):
and oxidants and cancer fighting phido chemicals and listeners. Every
bite is a choice, and I think we need to
decide is it going to be a building block or
a landmine for our health? And your fork may be
the most powerful tool in your medicine cabinet. Now, I
think we need to go eat something that loves you

(15:47):
back equally. And this is going to tie into our
health alternative of the week. All right, listeners, that music

(16:12):
sounds our health alternative of the week, which is coconut bacon. Again,
you're saying, don't take my bacon, Doc, We don't want
to take your bacon. We want to give you an
alternative that will keep your arteries as slick as a
water slide. That's coconut bacon. Yes, coconut bacon. It's innovative

(16:35):
and it's healthy, and it's a healthy alternative to traditional
bacon that offers a deliciously crispy and smoky flavor without
the drawbacks of pork. Made from coconut flakes that are
seasoned and baked, coconut bacon is typically lower in calories,
making a lighter option for those looking to reduce their

(16:55):
caloric intake. It's a plant based alternative and it's perfect
for v begans and vegetarians, providing a satisfying bacon like
taste without the animal products. Additionally, coconut bacon contains medium
chain triglycerides mcts, which can offer quick energy and may

(17:15):
support metabolism. Unlike traditional bacon, coconut bacon is cholesterol free,
making it a heart healthy choice. You can find coconut
bacon at many finer health food stores, often located in
the snack or specially food dials, with brands like Coconut
Secret in the Coconut Company leading away with coconut bacon.

(17:38):
It's also readily available online through platforms like Natural Grossers
and Sprouts, and also various health food websites. Overall, coconut
bacon serves as a flavorful and nutritious substitute, allowing you
to enjoy the savory experience of bacon while prioritizing your health.

(17:58):
This has been your health walle of the week, coconut bacon.
And back to you, doctor Bob.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Well, you know some people may be in complete utter
shock over that going.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Soil what coconut bacon? What are you talking about?

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Look, okay, for those people who go from you know,
the poor scene, the pork or the beef bacon, whatever
it may be, I get it. I was raised in
the Midwest, so it was bacon every morning. I mean,
you didn't get up without smelling that flesh, you know,
bacon and frying away in the pan. So look, here's
another way that you can segue out of you know,

(18:37):
that typical animal diet, which is fine if you keep
it balanced and make sure it's organic if you can,
you know, or grass fed beef for pork, if you're
gonna eat it, at least eat something that's not full
of chemicals and end up in your body. But you
can segue away from the pork and beef bacon over
to turkey bacon. There are companies that actually make healthy, organic,

(19:03):
non antibiotic and non hormone injected turkey bacon, or even
there's probably chicken sausages or chicken whatever. If you can
go to a healthier option in poultry versus pork and beef,
which is more adulterated on every level you can think about.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
And then as you get brave and you go, ah,
this isn't bad.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
It's so close, then you can someday or hopefully sooner,
try the coconut bacon and see what it tastes like.

Speaker 4 (19:34):
You wouldn't know. Now, I know a lot of people
are going, hmm.

Speaker 2 (19:37):
I gotta have my bacon. It's just that's the way
it is. Well, try it, you'll like it. You'll be
surprised at how it tastes and how satisfying it is.
And with the right healthy fats in it, which are
the coconut oils, you're gonna see a satiety level that
you'll be surprised about. In other words, you're gonna go,

(19:58):
you know, wow, I don't I don't feel like I
need a snack in two hours. I need to go
with a donut or a bagel, or go to you know,
get a sugar drink. Over it, over it Starbucks because
I'm crashing. No, you'll get the fiber that you need
out of the coconut bacon that you have zero zero
fiber in bacon and bacon. Of course, we know, especially

(20:21):
if it's processed, puts you at a higher risk of
colon cancer. That's an absolute one certainty. So getting coconut bacon,
not only getting good fats in the coconut oil and
satiate your diet and a whole lot of other things.
You're going to get the fiber you need to feed
the microbiota and the microbiome in your gas intestinal area

(20:41):
where your digestive and immune system resides so on so
many levels. Doctor Brockman, thank you for developing and delivering
the health alternative of the week. And remember you can
get into all natural grocery stores nationwide.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
I'm doctor Bob Martin.

(22:00):
let us help you on your path to better health.
All right, up, next, we have our health Outrage of
the week.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
Jeez, you don't believe it. Come on each to for
the health outrage because it's nothing.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
But Welcome to the health outrage of the week. I'm
doctor Adam Brockman, and folks, this one's a doozy. We're
talking about an event so outrageous, so reckless, it makes
competitive hot dog eating look like a model of restraint.

(22:38):
Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to the Enhancement Games.
This is set to begin in twenty twenty six in
no other than Las Vegas. Now picture this. It's like
Olympics that got drunk in Vegas and made some questionable
life choices. We're talking about elite athletes pumped full of

(23:00):
performance enhancing drugs and they're competing for cold hard cash
five hundred thousand dollars per event, with a cool million
if you break a world record. And get this, they're
actually requiring athletes to disclose what substances they're using, because
nothing says clean competition like mandatory doping disclosures. Am I right?

(23:25):
But here's where it gets really interesting. A group of
top Austrian athletes, their Olympic gold medalists, are calling this
out for what it is. It's dangerous, it's unethical, and
it's a slap in the face for everything sports should
stand for. And I think they're absolutely right because when

(23:46):
we turn doping into primetime entertainment, what message does that
send to young athletes? Hey, kids, forget hard work and dedication,
Just mainline this mystery serum and maybe you'll win gold
are a one way ticket to the er. Now, former
world champion swimmer James Magnuson has already signed up. And look,

(24:11):
I get it. Half a million bucks. It buys a
lot of organic kale smoothies. But at what cost? Because
last I checked, enhanced doesn't mean healthy. It means let's
see how many chemicals we can pump into a human
body before something explodes. The organizers they claim this is

(24:33):
and makes advances in medical science, and I'm saying, really,
since when did hey kids take these mystery pills to
run faster? Count as medical innovation? I think here's the
bottom line. Sports should be about human achievement, not pharmaceutical achievement.
And if we go down this road, what's next? Are

(24:56):
we going to have robotic arms for pictures, maybe j
packs for sprinters? Where does the stopping point here. So
this has been the health outrage and it goes to
the enhanced games for turning athletic competition into a reality show. Listeners,
stay safe, stay natural, and remember what happens in Vegas.

(25:19):
Might stay in Vegas, but the health consequences will follow
you home. Doctor Bob, what say you?

Speaker 2 (25:26):
Yeah, only in Vegas would you have something like this
going on. It's just you know, the aberank will always
happen there first, right, Yeah, I think that you know
this whole thing about cheating, and that's what it boils
down to.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
Cheating.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
And I don't care if it's Lance Armstrong or Barry
Bonds or Mark maguire, whoever in sports has found a
way to game the system, to cheat in order to
get ahead, should be stripped of everything. That's why it
shouldn't be promoted. But you got to look at it like, well, yeah,
it's in Vegas, so that's where the envelope gets pushed.

(26:02):
But nonetheless it's still health outrageous.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
And you're right.

Speaker 2 (26:06):
It gives the impression that young people can get ahead
faster by doing shortcuts, by taking drugs and exposing themselves
because let's face it, many of them believe they're indestructive. Now, oh,
if side effect will happen, you know, like my brain
will shrink or my testicles will shrink, it won't happen
to me. It'll happen to the next guy. No, no, no,
no no. It'll happen every single one of you if

(26:28):
you push it long enough and hard enough. And it
is something that I don't recommend at all. It's a
great health outrage of the week. And thank you for that,
Doctor Brockman.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
What's next, Well, we have some more questions, and this
kind of ties in into this enhancement type of games
because this is something that is a buzz term with athletes,
especially endurance athletes. So if we can play Pat's question please.

Speaker 6 (26:54):
My name is Pat and I'm calling about EPO C
hormone so your kidneys, that has an effect on your
red blood cells. I'd like some information about that.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Hi, Pet, thank you for your question about EPO, which
is known as errethrow poeton. It's not a topic that
comes up every day, but it's a vital one, especially
for anyone concerned about energy, oxygen levels and kidney health.
So what is EPO. It's a hormone that is produced

(27:31):
primarily by your kidneys, and its main job is to
stimulate your bone marrow to make red blood cells. Think
of it as your body's natural signal to produce more
oxygen carrying power when it is needed, especially if your
anemic or low on oxygen. And EPO is important because

(27:51):
if you're say, for instance, if you've got chronic kidney
disease and your kidneys are impaired, they may not produce
enough EPO, which can lead to that anemia are fatigue
and weakness. And as I mentioned, athletes, they illegally boost
EPO to enhance oxygen delivery, but that's not safe or advised.

(28:11):
And then also people on dialysis or certain cancer treatments
may receive synthetic EPO to compensate for the low levels
that their body produces. Now, natural ways that you can
support your body's EPO in red blood cell protect production
might include some things just as simple as adequate hydration

(28:32):
in avoiding inceds or ibuprofen, advil, those type of those
type of pills over the counterpills, those are kidney stressing
stressing drugs. And then you can also use some herbs,
maybe some vitamins or minerals like iron B twelve, full
eight and vitamin C and these are all essential nutrients

(28:53):
for red blood cell production. Doctor Bob, all.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Right, Yeah, that's an interesting question. You don't get those
very often, but I agree with what you said. The
other part of this with this person is that they
should be focusing on BE complex vitamins. You mentioned that,
and I would recommend the methylated form of BE complex
because if they're having trouble in this area, they're probably

(29:18):
not methylating to get those B vitamins through and they're
being poisoned by folic acid in those BE complex vitamins. Also,
nitric oxide producing foods might be of benefit beats here
in this case, not overboard, or if you're uncomfortable because
of the kidney issue taking them. You can take nitric
oxide supplements and supplements. Cut down on the sugar because

(29:41):
that rapes vitamin B complex out of the body, and
make sure you're staying on a somewhat low protein diet
and staying away from soda pop with phosphoric acid, which
all of that stresses kidney function. All Right, ladies and gentlemen,
stick right where you're at. We're coming right back here
on the doctor Bob Archin Show.

Speaker 7 (30:04):
So you save your dad. I'm I'm a bus service
number signons.

product recall. We have an urgent Walmart cucumber recall alert
to tell you about. Walmart has issued a voluntary recall
of the market side fresh cut cucumber slices that are
sold in stores between May thirteenth and the twentieth due

(31:41):
to potential salmonilla contaminant contamination. The recall stems from whole
cucumbers supplied by Bednor Growers Incorporated, who supplies cucumbers to
other stores as well, in which has been linked to
an ongoing salmonilla outbreak under FDA investigation. While no illnesses
have been reported from Walmart's product, salmonila poses some serious risk,

(32:05):
especially for children and the elderly and those who have
compromised immune systems. Symptoms include fever, bloody diarrhea, nausea, and
abdominal pain that may appear from six hours to six
days after exposure. Consumers who purchase these pre cut cucumbers
should check their refrigerators for products with the cell by

(32:27):
dates between May thirteenth and twentieth. If found, do not consume,
either discard the product or return it to Walmart for
a full refund. It's important to note that this recall
only affects Walmart's pre cut cucumber slices. The whole, uncut
cucumbers remain safe when properly washed. The company is working

(32:48):
closely with regulators to ensure food safety standards are met,
and I want to give a safety reminder here when
handling any fresh produce, always wash it thoroughly and practice
proper food safety measures in your kitchen. This has been
your product, recall. All right, we're going to get right
back to questions here. We have a question from it

(33:09):
just list Iowa here. But I want to say, if
you are calling in so we can get to your question,
please state your name your first name, only in the
city and state that you're from, so we get to it.
Sometimes these questions get overlooked if not not properly documented.
All right, so let's get to the next question from Idaho.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
By standpoint, Idaho, my wife recently just had her flung
drained of a leader and a half of fluid and
they collapsed her lung and send her home, so within
thirty minutes of that happening, and she's been in pain

(33:50):
since happened Friday. She's been in pain, very much pain,
every since.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
All Right, Again, I think this is important question. That's
why I pulled it up to the top here, doctor Bob.
And first let me say I'm thinking about you and
your wife here, because this is no small procedure and
the aftermath of it sounds like it's incredibly distressing for
both of you. So I want to unpack this very carefully. First,
draining fluid from the lun often called a thoraccesis, is

(34:25):
done to relieve pressure from conditions like plural effusion, which
may also be related to infection, cancer, heart failures. But
removing one and a half liters is that's a large
volume and when this happens, it has a risk of
something that is like a re expansion of that pulmonary
edema or even that lung collapse which you mentioned may

(34:47):
have occurred. And I think sending her home thirty minutes
after the procedure without proper observation, especially after a complication
like lung collapse, that's that's concerning to me. And pain
after this can happened, but severe ongoing pain may indicate
something more serious like maybe an air leak or a
new morthorax where it's air that's trapped in that chest cavity.

(35:09):
It may possibly include infection or just inflammation in that
plural lining, all of which can be extremely concerning and painful.
So I suggest that if this is ongoing, might need
further medical evaluation and ideally maybe a chest X ray
or a CT scan to rule out any of those

(35:31):
other complications like a new mouthorax or air leak. But
also I always want to give some natural help here
and things. Once she does get stabilized, consider these gentle
approaches like bromoline and also maybe arnica over that area.
It may help with some of that post traumatic pain.
I think also practicing some deep breathing exercise wants safe

(35:55):
to do might help to restore some of that lund function.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
And doctor Bob, Yeah, this sounds like a complication from
something and that could be so many different things, from
heart related issues to cancer situation. Just almost like an
a sitees thing where you have that fluid just leaking
into parts of the body. And I agree for pain relief.

(36:19):
Some of these procedures do cause pain. But the best
thing you can do if you don't feel right about
this is get that second opinion or third opinion by
another pullmonologist and see what they have to say. Meanwhile,
try to counteract the pain in the most natural way possible.
Consider acupuncture. Acupuncture is something very good on conditions like this,

(36:39):
or as doctor Brockman suggested, there are natural supplements you
can take, including something called curemed or cure amends by
Terry Naturally vitamins, or something called Bronchial Clear, same company
that has the key ingredient ivy Leaf Extract. All right,
stay tuned, ladies, and done when we're coming right back
with the Health Street of the Week.

(38:26):
case of the misdiagnosed heart tumor. What began as a
dream vacation to New York turned into a medical nightmare
for twenty seven year old Chelsea. Her symptoms started mildly,
just nausea in shortness of breath during that trip, but
by the time she returned home to California, she was
coughing up blood and her feet had swollen. Alarmingly, doctors

(38:50):
were shocked to discover a large mass on her heart.
Initially diagnosed as an angiosarcoma, an aggressive form of heart
cancer that typically gives pace less than two years to live,
the situation took a dramatic turn when the biopsy attempt
nearly cost Chelsea her life, leaving her on life support
for ten days. Faced with a life threatening situation, her

(39:13):
current medical team made the bold decision to operate in
an a tense ten hour surgery. They removed her heart
excides the tumor in reconstructed part of the atrium using
pig tissue. But the real surprise came after the procedure,
when pathology tests revealed it wasn't cancer at all, but
extremely rare condition known as roseiah Darfmann disease, which affects

(39:36):
only about one in two hundred thousand people. But today
Chelsea has made a recovery. She even made a return
trip to New York for what she calls a redemption.
Chelsea's case highlights how serious conditions can be more serious
if my misdiagnosed, and it emphasizes the importance of thorough

(39:57):
medical evaluation and patient advocacy. These experience remind us that
our bodies often said early warning signs when something is wrong.
While her condition turned out to be extremely rare, it
is important to seek out proper diagnosis and a treatment plan.
Don't always take the first diagnosis as the end all
be all. Seek exactly what the issue is before slicing

(40:18):
and dicene. This has been your health mystery of the week,
doctor Bob.

Speaker 2 (40:23):
Great information, Doctor Brockman. The mystery will in her case
will probably remain what caused her problem. And with these
with these kinds of issues that you described there, it
is likely that it was a vaccine that she took
earlier in life that finally caught up with that tissue.
We find this in a lot of sarcomas and these

(40:45):
soft tissue developments. All right, ladies and gentlemen making a
healthy day and a healthy week. You've been listening to
the Doctor Bob Martinshew.
