Speaker 1 (00:02):
Saulsbury.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Sean Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
To usc truth, longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
Brian Lima, go lobos.

Speaker 5 (00:17):
This is the Sean Salisbury Show, Florida State.

Speaker 6 (00:23):
What do you like to call it? Dublin, Dublin, Yeah,
good morning, hey, right out of the gate, Right out
of the gate, here we go, triple Are you ready
for this one to take my hat on you to
tip my hat? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (00:35):
I know where this is going. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (00:37):
So yesterday, if you did not listen to us right
out of the gate yesterday at about this time, twenty
four hours.

Speaker 6 (00:44):
Ago, damn here exactly this time.

Speaker 9 (00:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (00:47):
Sean looked at me and said Alex Bregman might play
first base. And we had talked about, uh, I don't know,
a couple other things, some headlines, and I looked at
him kind of side eyed, and I said, he will.

Speaker 7 (00:58):
I thought he was. I thought you were messing with me.
You thought it was a joke.

Speaker 8 (01:01):
And then as we got into it throughout the rest
of the show, it all started to make sense. And
there are a couple of people out there that thought
we were a little crazy. I sa awesome comments. Nothing,
nothing rude or anything like that. Like, this is never
gonna happen. Why would they do that? No way? What
did the manager say right before the game. Oh, by
the way, we're exploring Alex Bregman at first base. What

(01:23):
did Alex Bregman do during BP? He took ground balls
at first base. You know he's going to start at
first base today.

Speaker 6 (01:30):
It's gonna be Alex Bregman. And you know what else
is It just made sense if you're looking at just
the brass tacks of baseball and what this team needs,
it made sense. Yeah, it's and when I was thinking
about him, thinking, you know what, I don't know if
it's hot takish, but it made sense to me. That's
good and so you know, and if he didn't play

(01:51):
first base, that's fine. But it just felt like, you know,
when I said it, it's not like I just said
it and left it. We presented reasons why, and I
know people some were like yes, some were like, that's
not gonna happen. Yeah, well it's happening.

Speaker 7 (02:07):
Literally.

Speaker 8 (02:08):
Ken Rosenthal reported on it last night as well, did
he give me credit?

Speaker 7 (02:13):
Man?

Speaker 6 (02:14):
I don't care about that. I'm kidding it just it
made too much sense right for me? It did and
for others maybe didn't. That's why you'll see in the
game different ways, man. And that's why I love our
listeners and callers too, is you always find out something. Yeah,
look you look at it a different way. And for
me the night before and then guy said, okay, what
are you gonna do with the guy if he's when
it hit me too, is when you talk about just

(02:35):
swinging the bat when they knew he couldn't play third base,
but he was gonna that he could hit. And he
started to break down. Okay, nor dunce, here what goes here?
What if this and the bregman can play and you
need his bat in the lineup, here's the logical move
and here we are, so he's gonna play first base.

Speaker 9 (02:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (02:53):
They last night they really put it on Corbyn Burns.

Speaker 8 (02:56):
Corbyn Burns was hit around, gave up eight hits, five
of earned runs. Astros win six to nothing. They had
eight hits and it was the bottom of the lineup.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
Guys, Yep, you're not gonna get to Burns like that
very often, and they sure did.

Speaker 8 (03:09):
It was Ben Gamble, the newest Houston astro. Last night
they took a Gammel on him. They sure did. I
was waiting for it. He was two for three with
two RBIs. You also had Jake Myers with a hit
in an RBI, Shay Whitcomb with a two RBI hit
as well. I mean, man, the bottom of the line

(03:29):
for yeah club Sha Shay dog nice taking gammels.

Speaker 7 (03:34):
They took a gammel on him, uh huh, and look
what he did.

Speaker 6 (03:37):
It's nice when the bottom of the lineup goes on
the road with the you know, as good a team
as there is in the American League and again beats him.
That's four straight against him, if I'm not mistaken. With
the three here, beat him there and getting to Corbyn
Burns in his building.

Speaker 7 (03:56):
That's not an easy thing to do. No, it's not.

Speaker 6 (03:59):
When you don't have to lie on the first four
guys do it now. You need those guys. But when
the back end of the lineup, which we've talked about,
you can't be weak there in order to get extra
bats and get runners in positions so the big fellows
can drive him in.

Speaker 7 (04:12):
And that matters at the back of the order.

Speaker 6 (04:14):
And this dude, this group proved last night that they
were formidable against the hell of a pitcher I don't
know what's more impressive the bottom.

Speaker 8 (04:24):
Of the bottom four or about the bottom four for
the Astros in that lineup yesterday, or the orioles uncanny
ability to have like eight basic white guys in their
lineup that all look like they're about to rush Sigma
kay at Sam Houston State. I mean it's incredible, you

(04:46):
know because obviously the game was on Fox last night, right,
So they pull up that graphic where they have the
baseball diamond and it shows the faces of each player
and where they're playing.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
They give the defensive lineup. Yeah, even of them, they're
like they it's like Stepford wives. They're all they all
look the same.

Speaker 10 (05:05):
You do.

Speaker 6 (05:05):
It's like it's like the same, like flowing locks and
young and talented. Oh yeah, there's no question. It's like
it's like, are we watching like a movie here with these,
you know, one of the movies. Oh look at this
group of baseball players. Man all grew up together.

Speaker 8 (05:22):
It's like, yeah, their moms had tea together, right, they
all did killion together.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
There you go.

Speaker 8 (05:29):
There's no outside of Cedric Mullins and Urias And how
are they pronouncing Santander's last name Santanderer Santander, Yeah, dude,
did we We're trying to spice it up.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
The door set. These be the thigh only just talking
about it, right, Santando Santander.

Speaker 7 (05:50):
Yeah, it's like, okay, it's like when you called Joe
dirt Joe deer tay.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
Yeah, so you gotta do san shop at Tar love
shopping at there you go though, I mean, and it
is a team filled with basic white diyce basic white
dudes is. They're pretty good too, but they the Astros
got Adam Arraghetti nice, nice response from his last start.
Impressive man, impressive And like I told you, when they

(06:18):
don't then when it comes around and you ask these
teams in private, which you'll never get the informat, who
don't you want to play? I tell you right now,
they're pointing to this team. They are pointing to the Astros.
If you're Baltimore, you don't want this team in a
seven game series. You're the Yankees, you definitely don't want
this team in a seven game series. They're relentless, they're
getting great pitching up front, They're starting to get a
little healthier on the mound. Adam hectoran airis which we

(06:41):
said yesterday when I interviewed data Brown, I asked every
question without saying Hector and Aris name that basically said
it's Hector and Ris being looked at. And Dana said,
we are. We explore every opportunity to get better, especially
with guys that have been here and we have history
with and we know their makeup was his quote. So
that's another arm that's done good. Thanks here, and we'll

(07:04):
see how you know that turns out. But a good
get and a cheap and an inexpensive get too, right.
So I don't know, Brian, I just I'm telling you
I don't think the American League wants any party They're
hoping somewhere along the line the Astros get beat early
on in the playoffs or somebody runs you know what
I'm saying, where they just kind of lose and they
don't get rolling, and you catch them on a bad

(07:24):
series because in a long series with the way they
play in relentless bats and by that time, hopefully Tucker's
good and ready to go, and this staff continues to grow.
I don't know how you're not. I don't want to
say fearful, but that's got to be the one team
that keeps popping up.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
You want no part of it just has to be.

Speaker 6 (07:45):
It's not because we've just watched the just how relentless
and when I say disciplined. Their their ability just to
stay no matter what good or bad. Their the ability
to deal with failure and success. This year, it's been
a lot of failure and now with success, they're hanging
in there. And they've got some help from Seattle in Texas.
But that's you know what, that's part and parcel. Those

(08:06):
two teams got help from the Astros early in the
season when they weren't playing good baseball. So it's impressive.
And they go on the road and take care of
their business against a really good team. And I would
think that if you're the Oriols, you say, please let
somebody else deal with them in the postseason. And by
the time we get to the Alcs, let it be.
Let it be somebody else, not the Astros, because first

(08:26):
of all, Baltimore renders can't beat the Astros. No just Astros.
They hit him well and play him pretty damn well. Yeah,
the Astros are essentially inevitable. And if I'm a team
in the American League, guy, I do not want to
face them.

Speaker 7 (08:40):
You want no part of it. No, not in October.
There's no way. Errig Getty.

Speaker 8 (08:43):
Last night's six innings, pitch, three hits, no runs, no
urn runs, one walk, six k's, Sean Dubin two innings,
two walks, two k's, and then Caleb Ferguson coming in
for an inning and giving up just one walk.

Speaker 7 (08:56):
His last two.

Speaker 8 (08:57):
Outings for the Astros have been much better than his
first two. So that's a good thing for the left
because you always need a lefty out of the bullpen.
Also in on that game, Bregman was the DH last night.
He was one for four, your Don was one for
five with an RBI. Yainer played first one for four,

(09:17):
Victor Kartini was behind the plate at one for four,
and then of course the newest Astro Ben Gamble two
for three, two RBIs.

Speaker 7 (09:26):
He played right field last night.

Speaker 8 (09:28):
So with that win, that puts the Astros five and
a half ahead of the Seattle Mariners, and it could
be worse. Sean Scott Servis was fired yesterday by the
Seattle Mariners, and they fired their hitting coach as well.

Speaker 6 (09:41):
How about that You're in first place and rolling well,
and everybody thinks with that pitching staff. If the hitting
just comes around that you got a World Series chance,
and forty games later you're fired.

Speaker 7 (09:52):
They had a ten game lead over the Astros forty
games played, five man.

Speaker 6 (09:55):
Well, hen swyt was fired, right, because they've gone so
deep into the tank the last few I mean, it
feels like it's been about fifty games.

Speaker 7 (10:04):
So it's been consistent.

Speaker 8 (10:05):
Last nine games they're just their last nine games, they've
lost eight of them.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
Yeah, it's and when you're in a playoff hunt. They're
Texas and for the most part, the Rangers and Mariners
and nothing comes easy, but when it comes to baseball,
which is difficult, they have made it easy on the
I mean, the Astros are winning, don't misunderstand me. The
ass put pressure on them and they've both those franchises
this year have wilted a little bit. But with that pressure,

(10:35):
I'm just telling you, man, they have. They've made it
easy for the Astros to We're five and a half
in front. But the Astras have had with their big
June I mean July and stuff. I get that, but
my point is is that if they were winning and
playing like the Astros or like the Mariners were early
in the season, or like Texas did last year, this
would be a three horse race beating each other up

(10:56):
in a photo finish. But they you kind of look
and say, well, we're playing baseball, but damn, what's going on? Well,
the other team that we're in competition with has gotten
rid of their manager and they were first played. They
were ten game lead at one point during this season.
I couldn't imagine that's a that is a fall off
the cliff. I couldn't imagine being in a division hunt.

(11:19):
You're still just five out. I mean the Ashers were
ten out at one point. You're five out. This was yesterday.
You're five out and you're firing your manager and your
hitting coach. Yep, in the in a division race. That's
just you want to talk about choke job easy, It's easy.

(11:42):
I confess it's your fault, right, you know what I'm saying?
Oh yeah, I mean are they did they trade cal Raley? Know?
Did they get rid of this guy? And they know
they're it's they're blaming it on the coaching staff.

Speaker 8 (11:52):
Yeah, the wind got out gotten the Marana rose Morenos
try to help bolster.

Speaker 7 (11:56):
That offense, so went in doubt blame the manager. And
the hitting coach. That's right. So yeah, crazy craziness.

Speaker 6 (12:02):
But listen, I'm not saying it's going to be easy,
but winning the division may be easier than we thought
thirty games ago. That maybe will be right, unless, of course,
Seattle with the change, all of a sudden, hits the
ground running and goes to an incredible streak. But I
would have never expected to be in this position as
you head into September that they've the team that was
in front of you fired their manager and hitting coach,

(12:24):
and now you're, you know what, a week away and
you're five and a half games in front of first place.
And it's like two months ago you were we're begbarro
cheating Steel to find a way how to get in
the playoffs, and here they are. Now. All you got
to do is play good, solid baseball and get healthy
in that panic and you're going to win the division.
And you don't want to deal with the wild card
in this American league. You just don't do it. You

(12:46):
don't do it, no, not at all.

Speaker 8 (12:48):
All right, let's continue to talk to the Houston Astros
spencer Eric Getty.

Speaker 7 (12:51):
Let's look a little deeper into his star.

Speaker 8 (12:53):
What did he say after the game, he pitched his
ass off against Baltimore. Let's talk about that next sport
Stock seven to eighty.

Speaker 5 (13:00):
This Seawan Salisbury Show continues on seven ninety, and it
continues in your home. Say Alexa, play Sports Talk seven
ninety on iHeartRadio.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
There is a subasse. There is a subase.

Speaker 9 (13:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (13:14):
See wow, he's a bass seem to go really get
after the high note quick. That's wow. That is my folks. Yeah,
you'll be all right. I go a little low man.
I could throw a little bear tone. Yeah, you gotta
be the b tone. Hit the post man, I don't
have to hit the post. That's take it the break.
And when that music comes on and here buzz brainerd.
All of a sudden he's talking. I'll say he's talking

(13:34):
to hear the music in the background, and bam, he
quits talking. First word comes up on the song. Yeah,
hitting the post. There you go, Thank you, and good night.
Stalk to Mike.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Good morning Mike, Good morning fellas.

Speaker 7 (13:46):
How are you all awful? Terrible?

Speaker 11 (13:51):
All right, listen, I just got a several quick questions. Uh,
where did where did this gamble guy come from?

Speaker 10 (13:59):
Uh?

Speaker 11 (14:00):
And who did they CFA or send down to make
room for him.

Speaker 8 (14:06):
Ben Gammele came from the New York Mets. He was
released by him, and they sent down Trey Cabbage.

Speaker 11 (14:16):
Okay, so Trey Cabbage Okay, yep, Hector naires Who did
they send down to make room for him?

Speaker 8 (14:25):
I'd have to go back and double check that. Yes,
I don't think that roster move has been made yet.

Speaker 11 (14:32):
Okay, because I heard on the Matt Thomas show yesterday
that they were putting Ferguson on the attorney list.

Speaker 7 (14:41):
No, No, Caleb ort was on the paternity list.

Speaker 11 (14:46):
Okay, Okay, I got him confused. Okay, So they sent down,
they sent down, sent Martinez and then they immediately called
him back up again.

Speaker 7 (14:53):
Correct because or went on the paternity list.

Speaker 8 (14:56):
Yes, but I don't think, if I'm not mistaken, they
have not made the roster moves yet because they have
not activated Hector NAIs Okay.

Speaker 11 (15:06):
Then my last question on that on them sending Martinez
up down, up down, I mean, and he's not the
only one.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (15:16):
I heard probably do Bonds next or Dubin's next?

Speaker 12 (15:20):
Uh? Uh?

Speaker 11 (15:22):
Do they have a like a certain number of times
they could send those pictures down? I mean, is there
like a limit or is it unlimited?

Speaker 6 (15:31):
You're talking about moves options, options, they are limited, like like.

Speaker 11 (15:36):
Option them down to triple A then bringing them back
up again.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
I mean, you can't, you can't. You can't do it
on a hundred times.

Speaker 6 (15:43):
Just say it's not you don't have uh, it's not
free wheeling where you can just say I'll just go
keep doing it yoyoing up and down.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
There is a limit, okay, and we don't know what
that limit is.

Speaker 6 (15:53):
What is when? Does it does a limit change?

Speaker 7 (15:55):
Tis?

Speaker 6 (15:56):
Five total per year? Correct? Yeah, so there you go.
You can do it five times in twenty twenty four.
And I don't know what. I don't know what the
CBA says about future, but right now it's set at five.
Is that right, Brent?

Speaker 7 (16:07):
Yeah, that's for the CBA during the regular season.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
Correct?

Speaker 11 (16:10):
Yeah, Okay, Well, I appreciate you'rll's answers.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
No problem, it's U shaped up.

Speaker 11 (16:18):
Thanks now, just wondering.

Speaker 6 (16:19):
So yeah, I know you're welcome. Thank you for asking.

Speaker 7 (16:21):
Appreciate it, Mike, appreciate y'all.

Speaker 11 (16:23):
Job, good y'all, good morning.

Speaker 7 (16:24):
You as well. Thank you, Mike.

Speaker 6 (16:25):
What'd you think when Bregman when they told you Breg
was going to play first space yesterday.

Speaker 8 (16:29):
So after we talked about it, so yesterday obviously, you know,
throughout our show we mentioned it multiple times and we
started to talk about lineup, and then I was talking
a couple of my buddies and like it all it
made more and more and more and more sense again,
like we had the discussion about pet names right so
that we talked.

Speaker 6 (16:46):
About, like why you got a side ie?

Speaker 7 (16:48):
I mean when I bring it up because in the
in the in the conversation, we were talking about calling
each other snook up, not calling each other, but calling
each other snook them's and things like that, and I.

Speaker 6 (16:56):
Don't know what couples give their little love pet.

Speaker 8 (16:58):
Yeah, and then I know where You're like, hey, by
the way, Bregan's gonna play first base, And I was like, wait,
what what are you talking about? And then I started
it was in my craw dog, and then we started
to talk about it and then it made more sense.
And then after after the the show, I was like, man,
if they want to get the correct lineup on a
day to day base, he's gonna have to play first
base because you're not playing yord On Alvarez in left field.

(17:21):
So I had a couple of people throughout the day
after my nap, of course got to get a napped
that were like, hey, I think I think what you
and Sean were talking about, Like that's gonna make sense.
I was like, well, yeah, Like I was like, think
about the lineup. And then I saw the channeler Roam
tweet and I was like, son of a you know what,
like damn.

Speaker 6 (17:42):
Yeah, Like huh, I'm gonna I'm signing on to be
an insider for MLB based. Actually that's two things.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
Yesterday we're pulling out of the parking garage and I
get in the truck classically Chevy Sugarland truck at you
as well, you're Chevy Silado from Classic eleait uh black
Root Wheels. Marie Alexander tweets out, Hey, the Astros are
signing Hector Harris and I'm thinking. Just on Wednesday, we
talked to Dana Brown and I tweeted it out. I
was like, these are my words, but I'm pretty sure
they're going to be looking at Hector and airis. So

(18:12):
we talked about it on air as well.

Speaker 6 (18:14):
Without saying Hector and I because I don't know what
the tampering rules are with that, even though he hadn't
signed with anybody if he's a free age and can
you talk about phrase? But he said, a guy who
may have pitched for you or somebody who extra arms
what you may have been here? How you scouring the
waiver wire for guys like that? And we like guys
who who've been here and we know their makeup, which
meant and then within twenty four hours Hector naises he's

(18:36):
an astra astrod. The Bregmant thing just made too much
sense to me. If you're like, Okay, good glove, move
them over there, not getting awesome production from first base,
trying to find that niche, how do you keep them
in the lineup without Jordan? When you're without Jordan have
to play left field all the time? Well there's your answer,
first base. Yeah, it makes and so much sense. I
didn't know it was going to come down that quick,

(18:56):
but I just felt like, and then yesterday at the
end of the day, and now he's more likely probably
going to play first base tonight, So it's a good thing.
I don't think that they listened to that. I mean,
I know they listened to the show, but I'm not sure.
They said, hey, Sean and Bryant talked about Sean brought
up at six on one play Bregman, and all of sudden,
Joe Spotty, yeah, I think I'll play Bregman. Yeah, I'm
sure it was their playing anyway, But it just made

(19:19):
sense on Sunday night or what's today Friday on when
I bring it on Wednesday night and thinking, you know,
why not if you're gonna Really when you start to
think about it is when they put Bregman when they
said he's going to hit, and then when you hear
it about the the the elbow and that did what
do they call him? Gremlin? That he's going to hit?

(19:39):
But it's just a chance. The third base isn't going
to happen for the most part. Well, I mean maybe
in September, well, who knows when he comes back to
plays third base, that's his position. But in the meantime,
how do you maximize him in the lineup? And the
only way to do that is you can d h
him on days when Jordan's playing left field if you want,
but in order to keep him in the lineup and
have his bat, know what happens when Bregman's swinging the bat.

(20:02):
Well for this team, you have to play him at
first base because he's got to be in the line.

Speaker 9 (20:07):
You have to.

Speaker 6 (20:08):
Yeah, it's not like you're putting a hack with a
glove at first base. Guy's pretty good at third base.
It's the same ball comes off to him, but still
the corner infielders. It's bigger glove. Bregman could have just
put it this way. I'm given the the player a
ton of credit for being able to do. I'm not
saying first base is easy. I'm just saying if he
can handle third base with his glove and his work
ethic and grind, he can handle first. Yeah, he's released

(20:30):
for the time, right, and then give you production at
the plate. It just made too much sense for me. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (20:35):
And it was spot on, Thank you, Yeah, spot on
give credit or credits due crazy.

Speaker 6 (20:39):
But we but it wasn't just like us throwing it
and saying throwing up there, hey, Bregman, and we don't
talk about it. I've spent off and on four hours
discussing why.

Speaker 8 (20:47):
This should happen, Yeah, and then looking at different scenarios, Well,
where's carotene gonna be? What are you gonna do with Dubon,
What are you going to do with Chas McCormick yord
On Alvarez, Like, we went through every scenario you could
think of.

Speaker 6 (20:57):
Yeah, aren't you asking for? In my opinion, I'm always
looking for flexibility, bandwidth and the ability to do different
to have the flexibility and the options to kind of
do a bunch of different stuff. Bregnant at first base
under the current circumstances give you that option.

Speaker 8 (21:12):
And then also it gives you a left handed bat
in John Singleton late in games, especially if a guy's
coming in pumping fastballs. You know, John Singleton's a good
fast game.

Speaker 6 (21:19):
Of those guys, you want them to throw strikes and
when they come in and if he's a good fastball hitter,
which is which is what he'll pinch hit with in
four against you know, a right hander comes in pumping
in ninety eight. Put the guy in there and let
him te off and let's go. Especially if you need
something that's hit, you need a ball driven. Fine, Yeah,
I understand. I have a lot of respect for Singleton
what he's done, But I can tell you this, having

(21:41):
Bregnant at first base makes you a more versatile team
right under these circumstances, and it gets every big bat
that you need in the lineup in the lineup all
the time, right, all the part of it, not half
the time.

Speaker 7 (21:51):
Yeah, not a platoon situation with Alex fat.

Speaker 6 (21:53):
I'm not platooning a guy who I know can swing
the bat and just can't play exclusive DH because of
your DONK. If you didn't have a d H, a
yord On Bregman would not be in first base. No,
he wouldn't be on the field, right, that's exactly right. Yeah,
but you have yord On, which is where he thrives
in big outfields. You just plus, you just don't want it,
You don't want to risk it. Right, You get him

(22:15):
out there because he can play. But this is the
this is the smartest move by them.

Speaker 8 (22:18):
Because you put him at third base and he's got
to make a back and we said this yesterday. He
makes a backhand play and has to go all the
way across the diamond, one little tweak man. Then you
don't get his back, that's right, So you lose both.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
Yeah. Yeah, I mean I'll take fifty percent of one
hundred percent before i'll take one hundred percent of nothing, Right,
Does that make sense?

Speaker 9 (22:34):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (22:34):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 7 (22:35):
Yeah, tell me about something.

Speaker 6 (22:37):
Well, the country boy's roofing. Yeah, you know, the storms
are supposed to rain to day, by the way, but
if you're if you got roof issues or you're concerned
about him or you a long time you've had your home,
even if it's new. Sometimes people when they're building homes
don't do it the right way. Let's get country boys
roofing out just to make sure check it out, just
to secure you up and to give you peace of mind. Well,
then there's also when the storm hits and he didn't

(22:57):
realize he had those troubles because a lot of us
don't pay muchension.

Speaker 7 (23:00):
If there's no leak, we think are roof's good.

Speaker 6 (23:01):
Well then it rains or something blows and big wind
and you're saying, oh my gosh, I need somebody here
that's not going to price gous me, that's going to
get it done quickly and fairly and efficiently. Well, that's
country boys roofing. Country with a K, boys with a Z,
no job too large, too small, dumal anywhere in the
Greater Houston area. They'll come to you to make sure
you're secure and safe. They're going to help you navigate

(23:23):
those awful insurance claims. Texas Windstorms Certified Certainty and GF
Shingles certified as well, which matters to you when it
comes to your roof Plus one thousand, five hundred dollars
off for first responders, military and educators. And you've heard
all the long stuff been doing these commercials one thousand
dollars off disc one thousand dollars discount when you mentioned
my name, you go in and see them. And now

(23:44):
fifteen hundred dollars off for military, educators and first responders.
What's not to like when other people will price goudge
you during storm season because they know you need them
to me. That's not caring about people and what you're
doing in the community. They are family owned and operated.
They will treat you like family. It's country Boys roofing
country with the K, Boys with a Z, Countryboys, ROOFINGLLC
dot com Country Boys ROOFINGLLC dot com. Right three two seven,

(24:07):
three one fifty six. The Sewn Salisbury Show continued. Let's
get out to the phone lines. Start with Tommy.

Speaker 7 (24:18):
What's up, tom.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
What's going on?

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Brian?

Speaker 13 (24:21):
Could you be with you?

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Hey?

Speaker 6 (24:22):
Listen?

Speaker 14 (24:23):
I want to get right to it.

Speaker 15 (24:25):
Hey, it is the Sean Southbury Show with Brian Malima
and Triple Lee. So Sean, I need to ask you
straight up. Are you the guy in the room with
a glass to the wall where Jim Clane is in
the next room talking with bags.

Speaker 14 (24:42):
And talking with Aggie Jackson, maybe Joe with bottles hitting
there with Dana Brown or are you in the room.

Speaker 16 (24:48):
And I'll ask that question in this storm?

Speaker 2 (24:51):
How long has this been going on?

Speaker 6 (24:54):
Well, I will tell you this. I know how to
get information, okay now at logical stuff. But yeah, no,
I wish I'd love to be sitting in those meetings. Man,
would that be awesome, not just to fly on the wall,
but being able to just listen and say, hey, Sean,
come on in. We invite you in and uh, don't
give anybody, don't tell him where you got it, but
come on instead in and listen. That'd be great. But no,

(25:15):
I don't get to be a part of those meetings.
And I don't have a glass to the door the wall,
but I like to think I have a little bit
of a clue. So yeah, but thank you, my man,
I appreciate it.

Speaker 14 (25:25):
Hey, you know what my next question is gonna be
Are you responsible for Gammel coming in? Welcome to the Astro,
young man.

Speaker 6 (25:32):
I am until he doesn't get any hits knocking first
that there you go that you ain't lying, And.

Speaker 14 (25:41):
I don't want to say anything about there. If I'm
gonna leave the wone, you're.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
Gonna be a kinder gentler Tom today on hectoranais you're
gonna you're gonna leave him alone?

Speaker 9 (25:49):
On this one?

Speaker 6 (25:50):
I got you.

Speaker 16 (25:51):
I'm gonna leave. I want to see what he does.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
There you go.

Speaker 16 (25:54):
I want you to hook up with the Miko the
same way.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
Okay, you got it?

Speaker 6 (25:58):
Okay, yeah, saying right now Crouds three, m VP candidate,
how's that you got your ear to the pavement and
there you go? Yeah, you got your and my nose.
Why is your nose got to be to the grindstone?
You know that's saying, yeah, I do hear to the pavement,
nose to the grindstone. What if it was nose to
the pavement and ear to the grindstone, that would make
more sense. Well, no, really, your nose would get burned

(26:19):
on the You gotta listen. You got to listen to
the grind dog. Yeah, you do you can hear the grind?
You really can't, right, yeah, because if you're not grinding
hard enough. Thank you, Tommy.

Speaker 7 (26:27):
You know what I mean. You just got to show
up and show out. It's really what you got to do.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
I can't go to show up, show out.

Speaker 8 (26:32):
I just can't wait to play that football song at
eight o'clock. You're playing it today, Ronnie, Good morning, Damn
Ryan Texas play tomorrow.

Speaker 7 (26:38):
What's going on? Ronnie?

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Good morning?

Speaker 10 (26:40):
Guys. I'll go along with tom I'll say Narry a
word about Nears and I'm I'm sorry for him, but
I'm glad they had to send cabbage back.

Speaker 9 (26:49):
To the patch.

Speaker 7 (26:52):
Narry, nary a thing and a cabbage back to the pitch.
I'm talking about.

Speaker 10 (26:58):
Hey, it's it's Friday, and you know I was disappointed
I had I didn't get to listen to the game yesterday.
I had other things going on. And when I hear
this guy gamb will come up to bat, I'm thinking,
who in the hell is this? I never heard of him,
you know, because I, as you guys know, I pride
myself in trying to keep up with the double A
Tria teams, and I'm thinking, where did this guy fall

(27:20):
through the cracks somewhere. And then when I when Mike,
you know, he must have tapped my phone because he
asked the questions I wanted to ask about those guys.
So I don't know what you know, what to think?
I mean, I guess Tucker may be coming back, but
it seems like the more moves they try to make
to shore up the lineup in the outfield, the less

(27:42):
likelihood we will have of seeing uh, Kyle Tucker this season.

Speaker 6 (27:48):
And also I don't I think you'll see Kyle Tucker.
But I don't think there's any way in hell you're
seeing him before mid I mean in a major league uniform.
And this is I think would be I think I
would welcome.

Speaker 9 (27:59):
I don't.

Speaker 6 (27:59):
I don't think you're going to see him anytime, no
way before Labor Day.

Speaker 10 (28:04):
Yeah, it'll be after.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
It'll be after if we see him.

Speaker 10 (28:08):
And one final question I was having about I don't
know if you remember I called in a couple of
weeks ago about Fridays. Yes, are you going to are
you going to do what I suggested for like maybe
starting the next Friday or the Friday after?

Speaker 5 (28:21):
That?

Speaker 16 (28:22):
Was that was?

Speaker 13 (28:22):
It?

Speaker 14 (28:23):
Was it?

Speaker 6 (28:23):
The what was so Friday. Yeah, I think we you
know what, I committed to that and uh we'll get
with Tripoli and we'll uh so you should we just
what pick a new fight song every Friday and then
and play that one?

Speaker 15 (28:37):
Is that?

Speaker 6 (28:38):
What is for the biggest game?

Speaker 10 (28:39):
Or how'd you want to how would you want to
do with the biggest game?

Speaker 2 (28:41):
Or or just do a couple of your bumps back
in with the fight song Friday.

Speaker 6 (28:46):
Now the college football is here, we'll find a couple
of fight songs today, but it'll be a regular staple
on Fridays from now on because.

Speaker 10 (28:53):
I admit, even though I'm not a big USC fan,
I'm not a big Notre Dame fan, I'm not a Michigan.
How can you pay attention to a college football game
with those teams are involved and not like their fight songs.

Speaker 6 (29:07):
I mean, three of the best fight songs on the
planet Southern cal Michigan. Yeah, oh the other sure is Yeah.

Speaker 11 (29:14):
But you know, so that's the.

Speaker 10 (29:15):
Only thing left in college football, and now it's not
as much as what it used to be because when
they go to breaks and stuff on the radio or TV,
they switch away to commercials or they go to playing
these songs that are oh, I don't know what you
call them, but they don't let the bands play anymore.
And that's half a college football as far as I'm concerned. Right,
you know, when you had the Aggies going against the

(29:36):
Longhorns or the USC playing Notre Dame, those two bands
took it up as much as what the teams do.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
So great point Rynie, that's that's part of the pomp
and circumstances. We still love about college football. Right, we
don't have enough of it. You're right dot in the
eye and all that. Right, I'm with you, man, But.

Speaker 9 (29:53):
You got it.

Speaker 6 (29:54):
We're gonna tall, We're gonna we're gonna take your suggestion
and we'll make sure moving forwards and we'll get some today.
But it's a fight song Friday, man, we love it, Leads.

Speaker 10 (30:05):
The only thing I ask is don't sing along with him.

Speaker 6 (30:07):
I don't sing fight songs, but I'll sing. I'll sing
the other songs to make sure your weekends lovely, because
I know you want to hear my soft, smooth honey Phil.

Speaker 9 (30:15):
There you go.

Speaker 10 (30:16):
Yeah, we have to do a duet sometimes I can't wait. Yeah,
I'll take it.

Speaker 6 (30:22):
You guys have a great brother, we appreciate you. I
feel pretty good about my pipes. I uh, well, pause,
I feel good about yeah, I said pipes. Okay, I
did say I feel good about my pipe okay, but
about your vocal cords? Yeah, but vokes? Yeah, man, Yeah,
I feel good about him too. I think ron I
think Ronnie is fronting. You know what, I you know,

(30:44):
I think that because don't front he knows. Come on,
that's cap Yeah, that's capping Ronnie. Yeah, because he knows,
he knows that he loves We start blowing right pause.

Speaker 7 (30:56):
You know what, I of course I do. I think
it starts it. I think what's what's a shame is
that Tripley doesn't sing with us. You notice that.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
I think his voice might suck saying no, I'm kidding,
I'm kidding. Are you sing Triple Are you a shower guy?
Shower singing guy?

Speaker 7 (31:15):
So I'll just pull it out there. Why not on
the radio?

Speaker 13 (31:18):
Guy?

Speaker 7 (31:19):
We might be discovered? You never know, Yeah, why not
on the radio.

Speaker 6 (31:23):
I'm wondering if Ronnie wants uh uh, what do they
what do they call it a good Friday fighting fight
song Friday? Because it will prevent us from singing. Maybe
that's Ronnie doesn't really want to hear the fight song.
You just want to.

Speaker 2 (31:41):
Love lived.

Speaker 8 (31:42):
So Ronnie gets to make a recommendation for fight Song Friday.
But I've been denied. I've been denied for white Boy Wednesday.
Yes you have, but you're redundant. We can't even get
Mexican Monday. You're you're redundant, tejnod Tuesday.

Speaker 9 (32:01):
Wednesday.

Speaker 6 (32:02):
Do have a You could have a Mexican theme all
five days a week, and I'm good.

Speaker 7 (32:05):
That's Thursdays. But we want fight song Friday. Yeah, I
want to go.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
Ronnie. Just Ronnie completely bamboozled your idea. You see the
reason why Ronnie's is not redundant. It's new. You're like
white Boy Wednesday. We do What's isn't Western Wednesday? Close
enough to White Boy? How many got white boys wearing
their their didn't cowboy hats and their and their boots

(32:33):
on a golf course?

Speaker 9 (32:34):
Didn't you?

Speaker 6 (32:34):
Didn't You used to have Darius Rucker out at your
golf tournament? Damn well? Did damn well? Country singer? And
last time I checked, he's not a white guy. We're
not talking We're not talking about exclusive. We're talking about
when you think country, what do you think a lot
of basic white dudes?

Speaker 7 (32:50):
I think I think of hard working Americans.

Speaker 6 (32:55):
Right, So you want to label boysday what right? You
don't aloud?

Speaker 11 (32:59):
Boy?

Speaker 6 (33:01):
So triple am I right around here. When you think
about Western Wednesday, I mean, of course it's there's there,
it's versatile, and it's and it's including everybody.

Speaker 7 (33:13):
When we talk, we talk about the majority.

Speaker 6 (33:16):
When you think of it, the first thing you think
about if you go to a Luke Colmb's concert is
a bunch of white dudes and their white front teeth,
missing girlfriends. Dog kidding? Could that they that the concerts
in Morgantown was Virginia. I'm kidding. I'm joking because I
did that, Morgan, just a joke. I just know what

(33:37):
it's like when I say slippery rock when I refer
to college, I always prefer slippery. But yes, Bobby's nuts
great player. But it is true. So you're but you're
isn't kind of redundant what you want, but a name change?
You want to rebrand us on Wednesdays?

Speaker 7 (33:53):
No, I mean, if we're gonna do fight Song Friday,
then like let's you know, let's let's I'll give you
Mexican Monday.

Speaker 8 (33:59):
Okay, what about to hand Tuesday? No, we gotta have
what's Tuesday? Tuesday's uh, I don't even know.

Speaker 6 (34:06):
We'll label. We'll label Tuesday later. But because we're going
back to ESCO and right, we want to bring back.
We want to bring some we want to bring some
some flavors. Flavor flavor, yeah, right right out of the
gate on Frindays, coming in hot, we can we can.
How about if we haven't ex school once in a while,
it's it's white Boy Wednesday, where it's just a bunch
of goofy white boys.

Speaker 7 (34:27):
Singing all the time. Fair enough, so like country Wednesday.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
Right, you just validated my point. Yeah, I think Ronnie's
earned on Friday.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
I do, I do well.

Speaker 8 (34:44):
We can get we can talk about the software seven
one three, two five seven, alex Al we see way.
We'll get to you guys next. What it's meant rag
Getty state to Ken Rosenthal after that win last night.

Speaker 7 (34:54):
That's next.

Speaker 3 (34:57):
Sean Salisbury show continues.

Speaker 9 (35:02):
Born guys, we made it bellas it is fry day.

Speaker 7 (35:06):
Let's go give me a beer?

Speaker 9 (35:08):
Can I wait? It was beer thirty at five thirty
when I woke up this morning.

Speaker 7 (35:12):
Damn right, that's what I'm talking Are you driving to
work right now?

Speaker 9 (35:15):
I am driving to work right now?

Speaker 7 (35:17):
You got your tall boy with you?

Speaker 9 (35:18):
Or no, I got him in the cooler ready for
four thirty this afternoon.

Speaker 7 (35:22):
That's what I'm talking about.

Speaker 9 (35:23):
There you go.

Speaker 7 (35:24):
What are you a little natty light?

Speaker 13 (35:26):
No, a little tourdlight?

Speaker 7 (35:27):
Okay, okay, mountains might be blue tonight they.

Speaker 11 (35:31):
Will be blue.

Speaker 9 (35:32):
I do have my Kofefe with me though this morning.

Speaker 6 (35:35):
Well, Bailey's in there or what I wish you got it?
Nothing like starting your day with some good kofifi right.

Speaker 17 (35:43):
Absolutely, little gas station burness ca bet flavor, you know,
wake up in the morning.

Speaker 11 (35:49):
There you go.

Speaker 9 (35:52):
Now, I think that was a perfect catch to come.

Speaker 17 (35:54):
Back with, though a little uh superstitious going on with
the NLB and the way the Astros are just piecing
this thing together with all their injuries and uh and
the issues they've been having. Then all of a sudden,
the Mariners just start tanking fire their entire coaching staff,
you know, and and now we're just walking away with
the division.

Speaker 9 (36:15):
I think that's a perfect tout to come back with.

Speaker 17 (36:20):
But uh, I think Rigetty has done a wonderful job
taking it up on the back end of things. And uh, Sean,
I want to know what the way you called the
Narius and the pregnant first base thing.

Speaker 9 (36:33):
What are the lotto numbers looking like?

Speaker 6 (36:35):
Yeah, I'm gonna tell you a little secret there, brother,
That's one thing I ain't sharing with you because I'm
bah bah I'm a team player. But when it comes
that I want, I want one ticket winner and then
I'll distribute as necessary, I know, but I'll make you
a deal if if that happens, come on in and
we'll do it together. How's that I give to see? Hey,

(36:56):
we'll have to talk in prize. See, somebody else will
steal all the numbers and they'll go win. Because I
plan on winning the night. And when I walk in,
I'm on the same page with you. I'll give you
one number. The number twelve will be in the Mega
Million's winner.

Speaker 9 (37:11):
There we go.

Speaker 7 (37:11):
There, you go appreciate the coastline.

Speaker 6 (37:14):
Now the rest is on you and I want to
and if you if you're finish in second, I know
it'll suck to be you, but that's okay because I
want to grit money to myself.

Speaker 2 (37:20):
Brother, I don't blame you.

Speaker 9 (37:22):
Hey, Brian, question for you real quick.

Speaker 7 (37:24):
Yeah, what you got?

Speaker 9 (37:27):
So you say, cancel the parade? They lost to Boston,
lost the second one to Boston. Yeah, now that they've
won this one, is the break back on? Or do
they have to win to to make up for the
two that they lost?

Speaker 7 (37:38):
No, parade's back on. Call the mayor John Whitmeyer.

Speaker 8 (37:41):
Hate uh, Mayor John lockdown, Louisiana Street planning the parade.

Speaker 7 (37:45):
Let's go prade back on. That's right, Kad for my.

Speaker 6 (37:49):
BATFM fourteen sixty three and Alex, that's where you and
I will exchange a million's win. Brother, I'm with you.

Speaker 8 (37:55):
Let's get to out real quick. Now, what's happening, Hey,
good morning, good morning.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
A couple of things.

Speaker 18 (38:02):
I'm just real pleased with what's going on with the Astros.
Last night, I'm watching the game and they start talking
about this new guy, Gambo, and my wife says, who's Gambo?
I said, I don't know, but he's got a two
seventeen batting average.

Speaker 11 (38:20):
I don't know why we got this guy.

Speaker 18 (38:23):
And he gets the base, it drives in two runs,
and I said, but I'm.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
Glad that we did.

Speaker 9 (38:29):
Fuck.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
So I had to eat a little crow.

Speaker 6 (38:31):
On that one.

Speaker 18 (38:33):
But hey, Sean, I got some exciting news last night.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
My buddy calls me up last.

Speaker 18 (38:40):
Night and he said, hey, I know you're a diehard
Notre Dame fan, and he said, dude, I got two
tickets to the Notre Dame A and M game.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
Sean, I've never been to a Notre Dame game.

Speaker 9 (38:52):
I've watched every game on TV my whole life.

Speaker 2 (38:55):
I've never been to a Notre Dame game. And my
buddy calls me up last night and he says, hey,
I got two tickets. We're going to the Notre Dame game.

Speaker 6 (39:04):
Oh what a treat man, not only a good friend,
but for you. I'm shocked. You've never been in person
to see your Irish play.

Speaker 10 (39:11):
I never have.

Speaker 2 (39:12):
I'm seventy one.

Speaker 9 (39:14):
I've never been to an Irish game.

Speaker 6 (39:16):
Well, that what a treat that is. Let me make it.
Make it a I don't care. I know who everybody
gets busy and with work and everything. You do, make it.
Put it this way, if you ever, I'll make this
commitment to you now when I hear this. You're seventy
one and you've never been and I know for years
we've been talking about what a Notre Dame fan you are.
I know you're going to watch them play A and
M and that What a treat that'll be in that

(39:38):
great stadium. But if you ever decide you want to
go to South Bend, you tell you, let me know
about a month and a half ahead of time, and
I'll find a way to get you and your buddy
tickets to go there. You guys get there and I'll
make sure you get in that stadium. If you ever
want to go to Notre Dame and watch a game there,
you have to in your life, whether it's this year
or next year, whatever it is.

Speaker 7 (39:56):
But if that presents itself, you go.

Speaker 6 (39:59):
You can get there Chicago and then go in early
that day and tailgate and walk onto the bookstore, all
that thing. I'll make sure you have tickets to that game.
If you decide when you want to go, whatever year
it is, I'll get you two tickets. That would be Sean,
that would be you're a loyal listener and I know
how much you love your Irish and you're a great fan.

(40:20):
I'm so glad for you and your buddy that you
get to go. What a treat that is for you
The next stage is go in person to South Bend, Indiana.
Because your hair on the back of your neckle stand
up when you go through and see touchdown Jesus and
all that, you'll love it.

Speaker 13 (40:33):
Man.

Speaker 6 (40:33):
That's awesome. That's my that's that's number one on my
bucket list. There you go, buddy, Well, let me know
how I can help. And I'm happy for you. Good
for you and your buddy. That's great.

Speaker 18 (40:42):
I appreciate that, and I really I'm in on on
fight song Friday next Friday.

Speaker 2 (40:48):
Could we start with Notre Dame?

Speaker 6 (40:51):
You know what, probably well, it's the most historic programming

Speaker 8 (41:11):
So we're gonna play that and also continue to take

as we roll along here on the Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 5 (41:17):
Show, kd E Houston, k t V HD two Houston,
Nyhart Radio Station.

How about the masts, that's the rocket.

Speaker 5 (41:28):

home teams driven by that classic elite to buick GMC
Studios for the elite car buying experience.

Speaker 1 (41:41):

Speaker 3 (41:46):
Okay, let's do this Sewn Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (41:51):
To USC Troupes, longtime friend Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
Ryan Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sewn Salisbury show.

Speaker 7 (42:01):
You guys, we're talking about Notre Dame and I'm about
to say Notre Dame.

Speaker 8 (42:03):
It's Georgia Tech and Florida State tomorrow over in Ireland
where Dublin.

Speaker 9 (42:11):
Nice Nice.

Speaker 7 (42:15):
Here from Spencer Arighetty.

Speaker 8 (42:16):
He spoke with Ken Rosenthal after the win last night,
six scoreless innings for Raic Getty.

Speaker 7 (42:22):
This's what he said.

Speaker 9 (42:23):
There's no quit in that whole clubhouse.

Speaker 19 (42:25):
I mean, there's never been a moment where there was paanic.
I mean, regardless of what the record was saying, regardless
of where we were at in the division, everybody showed
up and worked every single day. And it's taken a
lot to get to this point. I mean, I'm I
myself had to come a long way, and I know
there's other guys that have that have continually grinded to
put themselves in a position to help us win more often.

(42:45):
And I'm just thankful for the guys in the clubhouse
who have helped keep me saying, keep me working as
as efficient as hard as I have always And uh, yeah,
I think Bastros are back.

Speaker 20 (42:58):
Yeah, Spencer's always good to be Congratulations.

Speaker 6 (43:01):
The Astros are back. Baby, Queue up the go go Astros.
Let's go. Oh boy, what songs ruined their winning streak?
What do you mean these songs suck?

Speaker 8 (43:13):
Triple get the go go Astros? Just for Sean being
negative Nancy on the go go Astros. I prefer negative Nelly.
Who like Nelly or like Nelly? Like Nelly Nelly. I'm
a I'm a glass app ful guy. But when it
comes to these songs.

Speaker 11 (43:27):
What do you mean?

Speaker 7 (43:28):
So you're the staple of our show, sal Washed and spent?

Speaker 6 (43:34):
What do you mean? I'll leave it at that, Okay, Washed? Yeah,
Washed and spent, triple you got it. Every cut you
play that has anything to do with the Astro we go.
Come on, get Washed and spent. Come on, I can't
do it, man, Yes, here come the Astros. Listen to
this banger? Do you like bangers? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (44:00):
This is one of them. Do you think it's a yes.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Number one?

Speaker 21 (44:06):
Every time?

Speaker 1 (44:10):
That's stress all.

Speaker 6 (44:13):
That's all I needed, triple. I'll tell you what, the
more that we play that, the more that it gets.
It just sucks. What do you mean, why do you
why do you play it? I think it gets the
people going to be honest with you. Do you think
don't give me?

Speaker 2 (44:29):
You just gave me that?

Speaker 7 (44:31):
Just that's just that's kind of scary. What you just did.

Speaker 8 (44:34):
The way that you slowly turned and looked at me
is how my father used to look at me like
and just just pure disappointment and discuss. I'm about to
shut the show down. We're going home after that one.
I feel like I need to go, Like you just
take a lap and figure my whole life. Yeah, don't
do that, And you know it.

Speaker 6 (44:51):
Blows You're most disappointing. It's like when you tells you
you knew it was the wrong decision, And it's like
when I flicked my father off and I was seven
years old and I was gonna ge away with it,
and he saw it because my dad's all everything. So
you think I say it exactly. I could already hear
the cop.

Speaker 8 (45:07):
Do you imagine flicking your dad off and he finds
he sees you doing it. Uh no, yeah, don't do it.

Speaker 22 (45:13):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (45:14):
Mom may have got one once in a while. Then
she saw it and said, dude, pops will be home.
My mom was like, I'm not gonna flip anybody off anymore.
Do you call it flick or flip? Uh you said flick, flick,
flick somebody out. He flipped me off. He flicked me off,
is what I say. I say flipped like you'll flip
your flip phone, you flip open, you flip that middle finger.
I've even heard somebody saying, uh, something raw. It's like

(45:37):
flipping the rod. Something wrong, Yeah, flip it. Were you
uh showing the flash whatever?

Speaker 11 (45:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (45:43):
No, you were not flashing any rods.

Speaker 6 (45:45):
You know what I mean. You know, with your cigar talk,
you might be that guy who flashes rod. I don't
know smokes pole flashes. I don't smoke pole. You smoke poles.
I smoke sticks cigars exactly sticks cigars, big difference, stogy.

Speaker 7 (46:00):
But you still grab you a couple of polls and
you know football seasons.

Speaker 6 (46:03):
Here's actually not but I will tell you this, Yeah,
like your dead, especially when you know the song sucks
is playing good baseball? Uh huh. We took a game.
I mean we we we took a gamble on gamble,
that's right, yeah, Ben, Yeah, And now you're you're throwing
a song out there that's they're sure to lose tonight.

Speaker 8 (46:25):
No, they just lost. They lost the series to Boston
and they won last night. So we got to change
it up. Just like we're gonna change the show up.
We're gonna have Mexican Monday's tejanod Tuesdays.

Speaker 6 (46:34):
Why do you have to talk like your Mexican but
it's Tuesdays. I mean, how you want to say it's
your tripa here that Hey, it's Mexican Monday, Sean. He's like,
now it's Tuesdays. It's not Tuesdays. It's hey, Sean, you
want to have to Donald Tuesdays. That's what you have
to do cheach and chalngdays. Man.

Speaker 7 (46:56):
So you're you're you're good.

Speaker 6 (46:57):
So you want to double down on the days because
of my peopes.

Speaker 7 (47:01):
We're in the most we're in one of the most
diverse cities in the country.

Speaker 6 (47:04):
Oh, there's no doubt.

Speaker 7 (47:05):
So yeah, we got it.

Speaker 6 (47:06):
You know, I think it's a great idea to pay
mad respect to the great Mexican community. Uh, songs. Absolutely.
I don't think they get enough love. They don't, so
we need to start bringing that love to the show. Well,
then looked great, let's devote a month. Let's call it,
let's call it Mexican Music Month.

Speaker 8 (47:24):
Okay, the triple M. So you want, we might as
well go triple M. So what day do you want it?
Monday or Tuesday? Uh, Mexican Monday? Rolls in Tuesday is
pretty good. Ring No, I think Taana Tuesday because also
a lot of people do Taco Tuesday, like the basic
ringoes out there, you know, they do a Taco Tuesday.

Speaker 7 (47:39):
Yeah, so we might as well do tuesdays. Man, I'm
with you. Shelley's actually got some suggestions for the day.
So let's see. Shelley. Good morning, Hi, good morning, fantastic, how.

Speaker 6 (47:52):
Are you.

Speaker 16 (47:54):
Good?

Speaker 23 (47:55):
So first, a long time ago you were trying to
remember on vocabulary where they more impressed with it was
modus modus opper and I just didn't have any Yeah, it's.

Speaker 7 (48:06):
A good one.

Speaker 6 (48:06):
Nice call you, thank you, thank you, Shelly.

Speaker 23 (48:09):
And yes, yes, and I was going to suggest Motown
Monday on Tuesday. White Boy Wednesday throw Back Thursday and
Pipeline Friday.

Speaker 6 (48:20):
Triple Did you get those notes? It's did you say
Motown Monday?

Speaker 8 (48:24):
Yes, motowndy because now Tuesday, right, you go Motown deep good,
so great Motown music, Motown big time, and then you
get your your good Mexican flavored tejanod Tuesday.

Speaker 6 (48:35):
From Esco Mean Street. Uh huh. Put some respect on
that Western Wednesday. He's your basic white guy day. Yeah,
you have do right Thursday when we say what you said,
throwback Thursday, Back Thursday, so we get some really good
seventies cuts. Yeah, where you learned that that you know,
their music did exist before two thousand and eight Steve

(48:55):
McQueen twenty twelve. Right, right, so it was a great job.
Friday's what what from Freak Show Friday? But now we
got to add during the football season fights Friday. Great call.
She's right, I'm letting that makes and I just se
and I suggested these and now we're letting Shelley and
Ronnie make decisions. Was Ronnie right? Okay, Well there you go, Shelly,

(49:18):
thank you. I mean that's going to be our modus operandi, operandi.

Speaker 7 (49:22):
Throw m Thursday.

Speaker 8 (49:25):
I'm making notes here and then fight song Friday. Why
because you, the listener wanted it. Yep, Fights Executive Friday,
Decision Friday. You got a little envious that I chose
Ronnie over you, a little bit hurt, a little bit, right,
just go ahead and admitute.

Speaker 6 (49:42):
We're tight. Look look right, hey, yeah I am the captain.
Now look right here. You got a little hurt? Did
I chose you?

Speaker 7 (49:51):
That's okay?

Speaker 6 (49:52):
Yeah, but you're you're your thick skinned you'll be You'll
be okay. Rights, you know what it is. It's a
it's a fatherly lesson.

Speaker 9 (49:59):
It is.

Speaker 7 (50:00):
That's exactly how I take it.

Speaker 6 (50:01):
That's fine, Dide That look I gave you is like
is he gonna kill me?

Speaker 11 (50:04):
No?

Speaker 8 (50:04):
It was like it's discussed, you know how those like
what is it? Not an epiphany but like deja vu
moment almost whatever it is, it was what you're talking about. Yeah,
that's literally what it was. I you've seen that before,
is exactly what you're pop. I'm talking like slow eyeball,
you like like like what you just saying?

Speaker 6 (50:23):
Words were not necessarily no, not at all stern look
huh okay, though, oh yeah I'm good, Yeah, come back.

Speaker 8 (50:30):
It just shows me like, you know, I'm not trying
to get like sentimental here or anything. It just shows
me that my father is here right around present spiritually.

Speaker 16 (50:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (50:37):
Sure, there you go.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
I just know.

Speaker 7 (50:42):
That's right.

Speaker 6 (50:44):
That's right. Say you want to get to the steak out.

Speaker 7 (50:46):
Huh, some some mistake.

Speaker 9 (50:50):
I sure do.

Speaker 6 (50:52):
All of it today. We're gonna put some flavor on
this thing. Triple Man, Triple. You don't hurts me though,
It really hurts me. Is that are you mocking Escod?
Are you mocking my Escondido people? Are you mocking you?
Asking me? I do I look like you know? I'm

(51:14):

some elbow grease in and put some time in in
my town. Yeah and Esco. Yes, all right, and you
know that the mean streets times.

Speaker 8 (51:31):
After we put that that hard work in, we can
just step walk right across the street over to Saxo fifth.

Speaker 6 (51:36):
Get you a coffee at Nords, do a little, do
a little shop at Nordstrom.

Speaker 7 (51:40):

they said, gringo, Like, hey man, what you brought?

Speaker 6 (52:35):
What are you doing right? Don't freaking why is he
coming in?

Speaker 7 (52:38):

it you and Matt or morning coffee and Bob for
is my elon t I love you, guys, I love you.

Speaker 7 (55:33):
Thank you, appreciate that car.

Speaker 16 (55:35):
You got a quick quick story for you. Only take
a second. Never eat a Holatino pepper at a Chinese restaurant.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 24 (55:46):
I went to a buss a, saw.

Speaker 16 (55:48):
A couple of big Holatino peppers, grabbed a couple, sat
down at the table right before I bit down and
look to my left. The Mexican guy goes, no way,
no no way, knowing me, goes to lad already bit
into it. Well, I had to get the manager to
bring me a picture of ice cheese. I drink about
ten glass of store on fire. Listen to this true story.

(56:12):
Then finally, man, a guy runs over there with about
ten packets of sugar and stick them in your mouth?
So why I stuck him in my mouth?

Speaker 11 (56:20):
So man?

Speaker 16 (56:20):
After I finally cooled off, my whole side of my
face was jum and I'm my kidd was that hot?
And I finally man, the manager came back. I said, man,
word the help you grow that damn thing out? And
the Mexican guy over there looks up, he goes, maybe
he grew it in a nuclear power point.

Speaker 2 (56:40):
That's a lot.

Speaker 6 (56:42):
That's a hot pepper, right.

Speaker 16 (56:44):
Yeah. One other thing, your your song might be a
hit in the make. And you remember that guy that
had that tuba in his garage and was blowing that
dunk under that time. Houston has a great football tea.

Speaker 6 (56:58):
You hear that song, Brian, you were here longer? Do
you remember that cut? As I know, is the tuba
there you go when.

Speaker 16 (57:05):
You're hear the oilers, you're talking super Bowl because we're
the you remember that that was a hit. But anyway,
I gotta get going. But hey man, I love you guys,
and I love boats. Bob Ford even is gay? Man,
see you later. One other thing, you know the announcer
at the Houston Astros game Bob Ford.

Speaker 8 (57:26):
Right, correct, there's Robert ford On on Astro's broadcast, and
then there's Bob Ford at Minima Park.

Speaker 16 (57:32):
Yeah. We went to school together and O'Connell and Galveston,
and I'll never forget the first day he came out
to the baseball he wasn't worth a dang as an
athlete in the baseball park. Commissioner out there goes, hey,
you go in there and grabbed a pencil and you're
gonna do the announcing at the baseball game. I mean,

(57:54):
that's how he started down there in Galveston, and he
was amazing his voice. But that's how he did it.

Speaker 6 (58:01):
And look what it led to. Look what it led to.
Great career. It led to a great, great career for him.
So that's awesome, Carl, thank you.

Speaker 16 (58:08):
It is yeah, star Roger and guy wasting Man. I
couldn't believe it, you know, and he did so well.
But anyway, y'all have a good day. Let you know
about you'll. Oh one song dis play the Texas Tornadoes.

Speaker 6 (58:22):
You hear that, Tripoli. I appreciate it, Carl, Thanks Carl great.
I know Texas Tornado by by Tracy Lawrence. That is
a my little Texxas Tornado. Hey, real quick stake out question.
Carl's a good, good peepy. Carl's fired up that he
was fired up. He said his side of his face
was still numb after sugar and tea real quick sean

(58:46):
for your USC Trojans undefeated twelve and old national champions. Okay, sorry,
go ahead.

Speaker 8 (58:51):
Well, Lincoln Riley said yesterday that he would welcome any
assistance Pete Carroll can give his football program because Pete
Carroll is going to be teaching a class at USC.

Speaker 7 (59:02):
What do you think about that?

Speaker 6 (59:03):
I think it's awesome And why wouldn't you lean on
a guy who was one of the best coaches in
USC history, whether it's recruiting, Pete Carroll would go into
the inner city and bond relationships. Pete was great, brought
all this you know that alumni back to campus and
made it good. And if you're going to teach a

(59:24):
class on campus, which is odd, I'd love to teach
at a universe I would. And I think it's awesome
for Pete. It's a great opportunity for people to engage
with him. But also, you got that expertise in the building,
super Bowl champion, National champion. Why wouldn't you have him
do what John Robinson did for ed Orgeron when they
won the national championship with Joe Burrow. Just be around,

(59:44):
consult with him, talk with him, help him get through
some of the organization that thinks he's trying to accomplish.
Plus they need help defensively, and you know what Pete's
specialty is coaching defense. Lean on him. Why wouldn't you?

Speaker 8 (59:56):
Makes too much sense to not have him around your
football program. And it also makes too much sense to
not focus on your your wealth, your money, your four
oh one k what you know about trade vesting? Damn right, hey,
financial fiduciary, Trasian wealth. Number one priority is you? Number

(01:00:17):
one priority is you?

Speaker 6 (01:00:18):
Listen? What's your risk tolerance? And when you prepare for retirement?
Think about when you're going on vacation. I talk about
this all the time, And when you're going on vacation,
what's the first thing you do, like, oh, we got
to plan it out, And I think a lot of
us probably need to get better at doing that. But
spur the moment stuff's fine. But when it comes to retirement,
spur of the moment, spontaneous. You can only be that
way if you've prepared for it and the risk tolerance

(01:00:40):
and knowing you have enough to retire and how much
it's going to take to stay retired to live the
life you want, if you've prepared for it. Knee jerk
reactions when it comes to wealth management are a little
bit difficult unless you have a little bit of risk
tolerance to play with. And the only way you're going
to find that I was lean on the experts right
right here in the Woodlands and Sugarland, led by Jeff Junior.
It's veteran led, family owned. They've got answers, you got questions,

(01:01:02):
let them help you walk, walk you through the retirement steps.
And when you hear the word retirement, the first thing
we think of, we're getting old. You're gonna be thirty
five and retired. Preparing for it prevents the the you know,
proper preparation prevents poor performance, right, and this is who
Trasan Wealth is to allow you to retire comfortably, with
security and most important, with the peace of mind after

(01:01:23):
all those years of work that you have quite frankly earned.
Lean on them. It's Trasanwealth dot com three four six

Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
We're there for the Sewn Salisbury Show continued College Football
Week zero. We got predictions that we're going to make
for college football. Also got to talk about these Texans
and UH joint practices yesterday with the Rams.

Speaker 8 (01:02:01):
Looks like Kamar Lasser had a really good day yesterday. Obviously,
Derek Stingley Junior's had a really good camp. A lot
of exciting things for the Texans. Little baseball news and notes.
Astros five and a half games ahead of the Mariner Sean.
In your experience, have you ever seen a manager that
has had a team ten games up in the division,

(01:02:25):
lose that lead and then get fired with thirty five
games left.

Speaker 6 (01:02:28):
Yeah, in the same season. I think you'd be hard
pressed to find it. Now, maybe there's more than we
think that had a big lead now, maybe a one
game lead or so. Yeah, I can see that happening,
like what has gone on with our team? Or the
year before, you know, you win a Super Bowl and
then midway through the next or I think it happened
to you know, I've seen coaches where they were like
the coach of the year one year and within a
year were fired. Right, It's like, how does this? They

(01:02:50):
seem that happens in hockey all the time too.

Speaker 11 (01:02:52):
Right.

Speaker 6 (01:02:53):
But in with this, I don't remember the last time
did a guy who had taken a team to what
looked to be a division winning, competitive team to a
double digit lead and then literally within sixty days or so,
seventy five days max is out of a job.

Speaker 8 (01:03:14):
Scott's service fired by the Mariners is what we're discussing.
He is the first manager sean in MLB history to
have a ten game lead. There you go in the
division and then be fired before the end of the season.

Speaker 6 (01:03:23):
Okay, so that's why it did. It makes sense why
we say he doesn't sure doesn't sound familiar. That's happened
too often, first time in history. Yeah, and it almost
feels like, okay, they found the reason to get him
out right.

Speaker 9 (01:03:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:03:35):
I'm not saying he's not a good manager's been and
he's been baseball a long time, but this was Okay,
you know, we're too good to be doing this. Now,
we'll see if that jolt does something for them or
if it's simply a lack of performance by players.

Speaker 8 (01:03:50):
Here's another wild stat for you. The Yankees have spent
over three billion dollars since twenty ten, and they still
have few were World Series hits than Zach Grinky.

Speaker 7 (01:04:06):
It's craziness since twenty ten because I haven't been to
a World Series.

Speaker 6 (01:04:09):
Yeah, it's craziness.

Speaker 7 (01:04:10):
I haven't been in a World Series since nine when
they won it, and.

Speaker 6 (01:04:14):
We're in twenty twenty four. And by the way, Aaron
Judge hit another home run last night?

Speaker 7 (01:04:19):
Did he hit another one?

Speaker 6 (01:04:20):
I think he went up on hit one last night. Gosh,
if I if I read it right or if I
saw the highlight right, I don't think it was an
old highlight. I think he hit one out last night
to right field. Wow.

Speaker 8 (01:04:29):
Yeah, he did apotaco for him. Garret cole pitch in
that game six and six innings, one hit, noarn runs,
walked five, but they beat the Guardians. Aaron Judge is
hitting three thirty four.

Speaker 7 (01:04:43):
My gosh, he is stupid.

Speaker 6 (01:04:47):
Yeah, he's completely obliterated the MVP award. I mean it's
his no matter what forty eight bombs, one hundred and
eighteen rby eyes. If he didn't play another game, he
may still be the MVP in the American League. Think
So it's crazy. Yeah, who's next? I actually don't know
who's second. Who's in second place right now? An it's

(01:05:07):
it's the focus with Hell. His teammate's been pretty good too. Now, yeah, yeah,
he's had a decent season. I don't know who's I
guess we'd have to go through it as Baltimore have
somebody that they put in that category not doing what Judge,
Maybe we're missing somebody, but I don't see anybody that's
even This is a secretariat landslide, thirty plus links in

(01:05:31):
a in a triple crown race.

Speaker 7 (01:05:33):
I mean, this dude is obliterate in the competition. So
in the American League, I mean the next it's got
to be it Bejan Soto six bombs.

Speaker 6 (01:05:48):
Probably, if not the second, he's probably top three. I
would say it's Aaron Judge, and Thenjan so Doo, right,
Gunner Henderson. Maybe Devers has put up good numbers, but Boston,
I mean, Devers would be right there. Yeah, I don't
see how it feels like it's one two Yankees, right.

Speaker 8 (01:06:06):
It's right now it would be Aaron Judge, Juan Soto,
Gunner Henderson, and then Raefield Devers.

Speaker 6 (01:06:14):
Sure seems like that to me. I don't know who
else is even in this conversation. The way that they're
playing in the American League.

Speaker 8 (01:06:20):
The Joseph Jose Ramirez is having a good series, good season,
but always is an over nine hundred.

Speaker 6 (01:06:27):
So that yeah, to me, it's that's why when you
ask us that Soto seems like the second best name
to come up with right now with the way he's
putting numbers up.

Speaker 7 (01:06:36):
Yeah, Wan Soto right now, how's.

Speaker 6 (01:06:38):
That for a right field the centerfield combo, centerfield combo
with the plate.

Speaker 8 (01:06:43):
He's hitting two ninety nine thirty six bombs with an
ops of one thousand and thirty seven.

Speaker 6 (01:06:49):
He's in the talk, So it'd be see, they're all
battling for second place. As a matter of fact, they
may be playing for third place when it comes to
the MVP, because it's clear cut the MVP is right now.

Speaker 8 (01:06:58):
So what we got about thirty The Yankees have thirty
six games left. Judge will get to fifty five bombs.

Speaker 7 (01:07:07):
Right should well? Wait, are's swinging it now?

Speaker 11 (01:07:09):
Hell?

Speaker 7 (01:07:10):
Yeah, you might get to fifteen How many rbys do
you have?

Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Do what?

Speaker 6 (01:07:14):
How many RBIs does he have? Buck eighteen eighteen? If
he just plays average, let's say it gets an RBI.
Let's say gets fifteen RBIs. The rest of the season,
that's what's that? A buck thirty something? Yeah, and if
he goes on fire and has a huge another huge month,
I mean he would fifty five home runs, one hundred

(01:07:35):
and forty. RBIs hitting three thirty. Yeah, I don't know
where he is in the Triple Crown race? Where where's
he at in those batting average race? Right now? Let's
see batting average. He's hitting three three, He's second. I'm
telling you, man, why can't he win the Triple Crown?

(01:07:55):
Bobby Wit Junior, there's another It'll be here you go
in Kansas. He's played good baseball. That's that's another guy.

Speaker 9 (01:08:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:08:02):
Actually it'd probably be now that I'm looking at Bobby
WIT's numbers, he would be number two.

Speaker 6 (01:08:06):
Yeah, and then Soto and he's ahead of Devers and
Gunner Henderson.

Speaker 7 (01:08:10):
Yeah. With Bobby Wit juniors in the top three. Yeah, yeah,
Bobby Wits hitting three fifty two right now.

Speaker 6 (01:08:17):
That's what That's why Judge isn't gonna win the Triple Crown.

Speaker 7 (01:08:21):
Mm hm.

Speaker 6 (01:08:21):
So I thought Wit was in the three forty. So
he's all the way up to three fifty plus. Yeah,
tough to stay up there, man, But boy, is he
a good player. Yeah, but that's some incredible numbers by
Aaron Judge. That is, those are just stupid numbers, man,
That is insane.

Speaker 8 (01:08:35):
Sure, it's crazy to talk about all these like regular
season numbers for him, and then you look at his
postseason numbered.

Speaker 7 (01:08:40):
Then he's atrocious in the playoff.

Speaker 6 (01:08:41):
Yeah, which is a bit shocking to me because he's
a pretty poised guy and he.

Speaker 8 (01:08:44):
Just like a two to twelve hitter in the postseason
with like forty percent strikeout rate.

Speaker 6 (01:08:50):
And listen, he he, And so they got to I mean,
it's a good opportunity this year. It's gonna be a
wide open American League once they get in.

Speaker 8 (01:08:58):
Yeah, and looking at the updated standings in that wild
card looks like I mean, obviously unless the Mariners really
take off with this new interim manager I believe it's
Dan Wilson.

Speaker 6 (01:09:10):
Former catcher catcher.

Speaker 8 (01:09:11):
Yeah, uh, the wild card over in the American League
right now. Baltimore two games up. Then you have the
Twins and Royals, and the Boston Red Sox are three
and a half out. So look at the Rangers twelve
and a half back of the wild card. They what
a fall off.

Speaker 6 (01:09:27):
They're done all year, They're done fork, pitchfork.

Speaker 8 (01:09:34):
All the way, Toronto Blue Jays eleven and a half, out,
Tigers nine and a half, Mariner's seven and a half,
Tampa Bay seven. So basically it looks like Orioles Twins, Royals,
and then if the Red Sox can do some things
down the stretch, but it kind of looks like that
might be what gets in.

Speaker 7 (01:09:53):
Yeah, that'll be an exciting wildcard, my goodness.

Speaker 8 (01:09:55):
Will Then you look over at the National League Diamondbacks
up three and a half games, the Padres up three.
Then you have the Braves in third place, the Mets
right behind him, the Mets, Giants, Cardinals all basically between
a game and a half and five games back of

(01:10:16):
that nationally wild card. All right, let's get yeah, no
big to go on the road and be a good team,
no question about it.

Speaker 7 (01:10:23):
We're going to talk football at eight o'clock and uh,
let's the next segment. Did you see the flag football player?

Speaker 6 (01:10:30):
Yeah? The quarterback just freaking stop?

Speaker 7 (01:10:33):
Did you hear the audio?

Speaker 6 (01:10:34):
I did?

Speaker 2 (01:10:35):
You did?

Speaker 6 (01:10:36):
His IQ? That's what makes him better than Mahomes. Mahomes
doesn't have a.

Speaker 7 (01:10:41):
Big i Q, right, I just did you see his
throwing motion?

Speaker 11 (01:10:46):
Boo boo.

Speaker 7 (01:10:47):
Did you see it?

Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
Boo boo.

Speaker 7 (01:10:48):
Oh my gosh, Sean. They it's a little different throwing
the ball when you got a three pound man coming coming.

Speaker 6 (01:10:55):
At you to tackle your ass and not rip your
flag off. How many people are going to continue to
overload their mouth with their ass.

Speaker 7 (01:11:02):
We got to go through it. It's great. We can
have some fun with it because it's it's.

Speaker 6 (01:11:05):
Leave Mahomes out of it. I know, talk about me, okay,
because I might still be better than you.

Speaker 7 (01:11:11):
Okay, exactly. Let's hear that audio who said they're better
than Patrick Mahomes. That's next.

Speaker 7 (01:13:10):
Next Olympics are going to be in LA in twenty
twenty eight.

Speaker 8 (01:13:13):
They're adding a couple events, baseball, softball, flag football. Jalen
Hurts and a couple other guys in the NFL came
out and basically said they want to play for the
USA Flag football team. Well, there's already a USA Flag
football team. And the quarterback Darryl do Set came out

(01:13:35):
and said he that he thinks it's disrespectful that they're
going to automatically assume that they're able to just join
the Olympic team because of the person that they are.
They didn't help grow this game to get to the Olympics.

Speaker 7 (01:13:44):
End quote. He also.

Speaker 8 (01:13:48):
Went on a podcast and spoke about a current quarterback
in the NFL named Patrick Mahomes, and this is what
Darryl du Said had to say.

Speaker 6 (01:13:57):
At the end of the day, I feel like I'm
better than Patrick my Homes because of my i Q
of the game.

Speaker 9 (01:14:02):
I know he's right now the best in the league.

Speaker 6 (01:14:05):
I know he's more accurate, I know he has all
these intangibles. But when it comes to flag football, I
feel like I know more than him.

Speaker 8 (01:14:13):
That's Daryl d set say, he's better than Patrick Mahomes.
If Patrick Mahomes were to play flag football.

Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
Well, here's what we're not doing at the Olympics, taking
a history lesson class of flag football. We want the
best players. Yes, and uh when he said, I know
he's the best player and all the more accurate, better,
all that stuff and in tangibles, but I know flag
football better. Great, cool, go broadcast it while he's well,

(01:14:43):
while you're watching Mahomes play. Okay, I feel like I
know more than him about about the flag football background
in league. You probably you're very well. Mind, where's this
kid from, Darryl Ducett, Yeah, the college where he's from.
Please fill me in on this one.

Speaker 7 (01:15:02):
All right, let's check it.

Speaker 6 (01:15:03):
Out because I have news for Darryl who said what
he's not going to be doing if the Olympic team,
if they do have Olympic team and an NFL quarterbacks
want to go, He's not going to be quarterbacking our
Olympic team. No disrespect to him. Just keep dominating your
flag football league. But why you would? I mean, look,

(01:15:24):
we're all talking about it though, I guess we were.
Excuse me genius by him to say I'm better than
Patrick Mahomes because I have better IQ about the flag
football league. Okay, I feel like I know more than him.
Mm hmm.

Speaker 7 (01:15:41):
Yeah, okay.

Speaker 8 (01:15:47):
So he he did not play football, so he didn't
play football in college. He played intermural in adult leagues
at New Orleans exay your university. In this article, it
says it was at Xavier University where Dussett's leadership abilities
truly emerged. He led his teams to numerous championships, earning

(01:16:09):
a reputation as both a formidable player and a dependable teammate.
That's in what league, intermural and adult leagues. Put it
to you this way, Sean, he's never been hit.

Speaker 7 (01:16:24):
There's that as well.

Speaker 6 (01:16:25):
He's never played I was also speaking like he'd been
hit about a thousand times in the head.

Speaker 8 (01:16:30):
I was also a very very good intermural flag football player,
and I played seventh and eighth grade football.

Speaker 6 (01:16:37):
Do you feel like you might be better than Jamar Chase?

Speaker 8 (01:16:41):
You know, actually, for me, I was a quarterback in
intermurals flag football. Yeah, so I would probably compare myself
to you know, I'm a little bit taller than Drew Brees,
but I'm probably more accurate than him, better.

Speaker 6 (01:16:55):
The most accurate quarterback in his all time. Yeah, I
got you know the game better. Yeah, the flag football
game better.

Speaker 9 (01:17:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:17:01):
We'd play about five or six you know, uh games
before the playoffs would hit, you know, in the fall
at Soul Raw State.

Speaker 6 (01:17:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:17:12):
I feel like I'm better than Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 6 (01:17:17):
And I got my IQ run it again. Some would
question your IQ on what you just said, but they
who's counting. I feel like I know more than him.
You are talking, You are saying you know more than
Patrick Mahomes. He might know more about the flag football league,

(01:17:39):
Yeah he might. Yeah, we'll give him that one, But
he knows more about what if it's not the flag
flo don't know how to read coverage Mahomes has made
plays that a normal human being that an alien can't
make because he's an alien when it comes to his talent.
And the guy got up in social media because he's
going to want us to be the Olympic quarterback? Is
that is that set's going with this? And he said,

(01:18:03):
I feel like I'm better than Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 7 (01:18:07):
Sean, look at this throwing motion.

Speaker 6 (01:18:10):
Let me see it. Let me see it. Mechanics, I guess,
don't matter if check out accurate, accurate touch down, right son,
Let me see his mechanics. Dude, could he maybe get
a little more wide and it's it's you know, outside
the compact zone a little bit.

Speaker 7 (01:18:31):
You want to see his you want to see his
scrambling skills. Yeah, my guys, let.

Speaker 6 (01:18:36):
Me check her out. Let me check out double d
that's isn't his first name, Darryl? Oh No, he's got
Now he's better at Mahomes than that. Look at a
freak move.

Speaker 2 (01:18:46):
Look at look at that.

Speaker 6 (01:18:49):
Oh dude. Now, if you wanted to say, when Mahomes
gets here, I'll move to the slot. It cats what
a hole the balls and put moves onto the open field.
How tall do you think he stands double D is
probably about six foot and a half.

Speaker 7 (01:19:01):
He's five eight. That's my height.

Speaker 6 (01:19:03):
I got news though, better than Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 7 (01:19:06):
Yeah better, I q as well. Yeah knows more. He
knows the game.

Speaker 6 (01:19:10):
Judging from those mechanics, I feel like I know more
than him. I know why he was in the the
adult league? What is it called? What was he played it?

Speaker 13 (01:19:23):
Again?

Speaker 6 (01:19:25):
Hey, those inner murals can be a bitch. There's some
good players in the intermuals. Don't mis understand there are
there's some good player you can watch. These have some
fun games, But drinking a keg after your frat game
isn't going to make you better than Patty Mahomes. Okay, well,
those mechanics are solid for a guy who's never played.

(01:19:45):
I'm just kidding. I love his com like some viral
stuff and some some love and he's got some good
moves in the open field.

Speaker 7 (01:19:53):
He will not be your starting quarterback at the Olympic Games.

Speaker 6 (01:19:55):
Just so you know, don't take don't take that metal
away from that man.

Speaker 11 (01:19:59):
I just did.

Speaker 2 (01:20:01):
Good.

Speaker 6 (01:20:01):
He gave gold, just like you and I watching what
five eight and one hundred and forty pounds. You know
who's better than Patrick Mahomes damn right there.

Speaker 8 (01:20:10):
So this this thing got tweeted out right, this video
of him saying that, and then one of the funniest
ones I see response, excuse me, was all right, that's great, bro,
shut up and put my fries in the bag.

Speaker 7 (01:20:22):
Dog, that's so wrong.

Speaker 8 (01:20:24):
That's like a a fast food guy telling his story
about his older, olden days, like, and then I blew
out my knee. You're like, that's great, bro, put my
stuff in the bag.

Speaker 6 (01:20:31):
Let's kill It might be the equivalent of saying, hey, man,
if you make like some fries at b K, compared
yourself to the best chef of the world, right, I
feel like I'm a better chef than him. Why I
got Melroy Q on these how these fries going to this?

Speaker 7 (01:20:45):
This was assault him perfection.

Speaker 6 (01:20:48):
He's a good little player. Yeah, for his league, right,
I'm waiting for behold the coming cast. I say he
probably is better than me. Man, Oh my gosh, when
Andy gonna sign sign him? I don't know.

Speaker 8 (01:21:02):
Yeah, let's let's get into the eight o'clock hour. We're
gonna talk Houston Texans.

Speaker 5 (01:21:47):

Speaker 8 (01:21:55):
Georgia Tech, Florida State over in Ireland seven one three,
two two five seven and I were going to talk
Texans before it gets outs.

Speaker 7 (01:22:02):
Talk to Ray.

Speaker 13 (01:22:03):
Good morning Ray, Hey, good morning guys.

Speaker 24 (01:22:07):
I was just gonna say that guy needs a reality
check with Rudy. I mean he's five foot nothing and
a hundred and nothing and hung in with the best
intermural team in the country. I mean, I'm five foot
nothing and I don't weigh one hundred and forty pounds.
I'm more like two fifteen. But uh, I think that
guy's smoking dope or something. Patrick Mahoons get.

Speaker 7 (01:22:30):
Real, gotta be on something.

Speaker 6 (01:22:33):
I like how bold he is though. Thanks for a
good laugh, though, Yeah, I hear. I wonder if he
really believes it. Do you guys think he believes it?
I think he does.

Speaker 24 (01:22:41):
I think no, No, I can't believe that.

Speaker 6 (01:22:45):
You think it's just hyperbole to get to get clicks.
I think that's what that was.

Speaker 24 (01:22:51):
Probably. Yeah, I mean I can say, I mean, I
can say I'm better than you, Shawn and football, and
I mean there's reality and then there's fiction.

Speaker 6 (01:23:00):
You might very well be. Let's not go that far,
all right, you guys have a great day two right, thanks, brother,
appreciate it. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:23:09):
When it's when it's what if Mahomes and him met?

Speaker 6 (01:23:11):
What do you think? What do you think Mahomes would
be cool about it? Obviously? What do you think you
think he'd really believe it and he'd look a him side?
Do you think I'm better than you?

Speaker 7 (01:23:18):
I think he actually does believe that.

Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
You do?

Speaker 9 (01:23:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:23:21):
Maybe that's what makes him a good flag football player, right, Yeah,
like I said, makes him a good flag football player.
I'll tell you though, there is society that feels, you know,
when they say stuff like this, that actually believe. I mean,
you're like, dude, are you you're kidding? Right? But look,

(01:23:43):
we're all talking about him would you have ever known
the name Daryl? Yes, no, there you go, I would
never have known Daryl. We're really helping him out. We're
giving him a little pub over his talk. And even
it's not true. He may look ah, I was just joking,
but he's staring into that camera. Told you I'm better.
Patrick Mahomes, I don't hate. What would be the equivalent

(01:24:04):
like the NBA to be, like, okay, so a current
for some guy to go in the NBA, I guess
it would be.

Speaker 7 (01:24:12):
It probably somebody playing in like the Big Three or
a three on three league or.

Speaker 6 (01:24:18):
No, I can't be those are former players former NBA.
But you got to find me a dude off the street.

Speaker 3 (01:24:25):
You know what the Big Three.

Speaker 6 (01:24:26):
You're not gonna say, well, you know some guy who
played in the NBA for twelve years. He's playing in
Big Three.

Speaker 8 (01:24:30):
So what was the there's like another league, there's like
it's called the tournament of the basketball tournament.

Speaker 6 (01:24:36):
No, no, no, this is tournament basketball at your local
fitness club.

Speaker 7 (01:24:41):
Okay, so at twenty four hour.

Speaker 6 (01:24:43):
Yes, good player comes in former even it's even a
stretch in basketball if you say, well, he's a former
Division two basketball player, which is a pretty good damn
good player. You go to your gym, at your local
gym and a Division two guy who quit school who's
out of school four years ago and isn't playing in
the NBA. He can ball, right that guy? That guy
was like, he's a good player in his high school
and yeah, and he can ball now. He didn't play

(01:25:07):
college ball. Right, So you're talking about the guy who
goes to Lifetime and he plays pick up and becomes
a lifetime Like, Oh, that guy's got some pretty good hops,
like a legend around life. He's got a weird shooting
style and Knox adown. He gets it done. And for him,
after like a winning a championship in one of those
leagues where they travel a little bit and play other

(01:25:28):
twenty four hour fitnesses, to come on and say, you
know what, the Cooly Kachin got anything on me.

Speaker 7 (01:25:36):
I feel like I'm better than the Coleton.

Speaker 6 (01:25:37):
I feel like I run the court better than Yiannis.

Speaker 7 (01:25:40):
I have a better court vision.

Speaker 6 (01:25:41):
Yeah, i feel like I'm better than him. And my
ability is I mean, you'll be talking about Anthony Edwards
the way you talk about me.

Speaker 7 (01:25:48):
Yeah, and he stands it. He stands at five to eleven.

Speaker 6 (01:25:50):
Right, and he thinks he could handle a six to
seven guy, six eight guy, that seven footer. That's exactly
what it's not a guy in the Big three, That
Big three dude played a decade in the NBA. Okay, Darryl,
do set it's freaking absurd. Okay, five A and we're
talking about it.

Speaker 8 (01:26:08):
One hundred and forty pounds flag football quarterback for your
USA flag football team?

Speaker 6 (01:26:13):
Who will? Who will? Is he pining to be the
quarterback for the gold medal? Is he even the best
in his league? I gotta know that. Well, that's one
of the best at his family league or whatever.

Speaker 7 (01:26:23):
What's the league called?

Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
Again?

Speaker 8 (01:26:24):
I don't know, but that's why, Well, that's why he's
the quarterback for USA USA.

Speaker 6 (01:26:30):
But does our a backup on there? How good? Is
the backup? Is a backup? If Daryl goes hammy? Are
we in trouble? We could the USC flag USA flag
football in trouble. I Darryl pulls, goes handy on one
of his moves, throws a hammy.

Speaker 22 (01:26:42):
On their ass.

Speaker 6 (01:26:43):
So he's Team USA. So he's the he's the he's
the He's a dog when it comes to flag football.
Flag football.

Speaker 8 (01:26:50):
Yeah, so I guess I guess what's going to have
to happen is if he pulls a hammy, then you're
probably just gonna have to put in Jalen Hurts quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:26:57):
No, or are you put in Patrick Mahomes because Mahomes
is his backup up?

Speaker 7 (01:27:00):
True?

Speaker 6 (01:27:01):
You know it would be a great flag football player
in that league and stuff. I'm not diss he's a
good NFL pla is Kyler Murray. Oh yeah, you're never
tackling him. He's too quick and he could throw. I've
watched him play seven on Seve. Was like, okay, I
get it pretty good. Yeah, you put like, uh, can
you imagine Darryl starting quarterback at TV? Has there for
the gold Badal Darryl d set and his backups Patrick

(01:27:23):
Mahomes and Josh Allen Really yeah, imagine imagine and Jefferson
comes back and says, that's my dog, saying he's.

Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
Better, He's better than my guy.

Speaker 7 (01:27:36):
You load up Tyreek Hill? Who else is really fast?

Speaker 9 (01:27:39):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (01:27:39):
Tyreek Hill, Vi Worthy, Dell Short, you know Chase too,
and say and quarterback going off Darryl just sets your quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:27:50):
You're winning some championships, some chips.

Speaker 7 (01:27:52):
You're never losing because Darryl do Sets, your quarterback.

Speaker 6 (01:27:55):
Don't put enough respect on on double d Darryl des Set,
I have' He's gonna be a reference point for us.
Could you imagine who's our Okay, so the coach would
I guess if you're a super by Andy Reid? Again, Pat,
you're second trigger. Hey man, look, Darryl's had a good camp,
he had a good run.

Speaker 2 (01:28:16):
He's had a good camp.

Speaker 6 (01:28:17):
He listen, he's his.

Speaker 7 (01:28:20):
Timing is a little better, his vision is just.

Speaker 13 (01:28:23):
Right now.

Speaker 7 (01:28:24):
Sorry, So that would be funny. You're gonna have to
You're gonna have to play a role up.

Speaker 6 (01:28:29):
You gave your role is you're not the star on
this team and you're the Jason Tatum of our flag
football team. Or you're there and you're the you're the
championship team, but we're not playing because because Darryl st
That's exactly right.

Speaker 7 (01:28:43):
Then go Darryl do Set.

Speaker 6 (01:28:47):
Not to be confused with Bobby Bouche, right, who was
a hell of a player. Wise, listen, heat came out,
Bobby bouch He might be better. I mean, he very
well might be better than the best linebacker in football, right, Yeah,
they won the Bourbon Bowl because of Bobby. That's that's

(01:29:08):
fairly similar.

Speaker 7 (01:29:09):
Darryl Ducett not to be confused.

Speaker 8 (01:29:11):
With Darryl World. Darryl Ward, former Astros player, big left
handed hitter. Yeah, not to be confused with any Darryl Strawberry.
He's he's carving out his own career, his own path.
That's damn rights. If we win a gold medal with
double D I'm in. Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 6 (01:29:33):
Can we get his jersey? He'll have something you and
I don't, a gold medal? That's exactly right. Who is
your backup? Mahomes?

Speaker 7 (01:29:42):
I mean Patrick, No, Jackson, Pat Jackson Mahomes.

Speaker 6 (01:29:47):
I think that's what he was talking about. I believe
I'm better than Jackson. Mahomes debatable, zesty if you will, Yeah,
among others.

Speaker 8 (01:30:00):
Ready to talk big boy football, like actual football? Yeah,
we like tackle football. We talked about ye Trojan, you
want to talk college or you want to.

Speaker 11 (01:30:08):
What do you go?

Speaker 6 (01:30:09):
NFL? Let's call Texans.

Speaker 7 (01:30:10):
Yeah, let's let's go. Yeah, you know what to get
fired up?

Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:30:15):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, tripley get it ready. Let's talk Texans.
They play the Rams tomorrow, that's next.

Speaker 5 (01:30:22):
Let the celebration start or Seawn Salisbury. It's a Seawn
Salisbury show. Huh oh.

Speaker 7 (01:30:34):
Yeah, we are.

Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
So.

Speaker 6 (01:30:37):
But it's one of those songs comes at You're like, oh,
they're saying, let me get into the I know, let
me bop ahead little exactly. You're like, okay, yeah, I'm
feeling this on a Friday.

Speaker 7 (01:30:44):
White boys got a little soul in them.

Speaker 6 (01:30:47):
Little come on, well speak for yourself.

Speaker 7 (01:30:50):
Little triple to your boys listening to the show, are
they all sleeping?

Speaker 9 (01:30:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:30:55):
Damn yeah, I know I've asked you this before. Do
you ever do you ever talk about us being nut jobs?

Speaker 12 (01:31:03):
I do.

Speaker 6 (01:31:04):
I tell them I work with the two goofiest people ever.

Speaker 7 (01:31:07):
I take it as a compliment a lot.

Speaker 11 (01:31:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (01:31:09):
Man, Yeah, when people call.

Speaker 8 (01:31:11):
Me a clown or a jackass like endearing, it's an
endearing comment to me. I enjoy that, Yeah, because you know,
I try to make people laugh.

Speaker 6 (01:31:18):
Listen, man, you know what I mean. The next time
I care if somebody thinks of a nut job to
be the first time that if I care that much,
I had had changed it. Changed it by now. Yeah.
A little Casey in the Sunshine Band to gets rolling
here at eight twenty two it's ninety one degrees in Houston,
six Rang seven, ninety Casey in the Sunshine Band.

Speaker 7 (01:31:42):
All forty of them coming up this segment.

Speaker 6 (01:31:44):
What do you got for me?

Speaker 8 (01:31:46):
Houston Texans had a really good day against the I
almost calling the Saint Louis Rams the Los Angeles Rams.

Speaker 14 (01:31:53):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (01:31:53):
Sean McVay had some high praise for the Texans and
how Demico Ryans basically has handled the talent with this
Texans team. He said, first, he said, quote first class.
We got a lot of good work today, exactly what
we had hope, had hoped end quote. He also said

(01:32:17):
he could not be more impressed with the talent, professionalism,
and discipline with which Demiico Ryans Texans team practice. I
just I always go back to just how this organization
in this team was just a couple of years ago
when David Cully was the head coach. Obviously Lovey Smith
and just an absolute complete turnaround. And I always go
back to it starts with the head coach and there

(01:32:39):
you go. Sean McVay one of the brightest minds, younger
minds in the NFL, and he had nothing but high
praise for Demiico Ryans. Just after one joint practice which
is just a couple hours long. Just pretty impressive, man.

Speaker 6 (01:32:52):
Extremely impressive, and that's impactful. And when Demiko Ryans came here,
did we not discuss and did he know talk about
how important it is to know how to practice? Yeah,
when to keep people off. And it's so it's such
an under underutilized conversation when you say, well, doesn't everybody

(01:33:12):
know how to practice? Know that they actually don't. Especially now.
It's it's so it's so paramount and so important. Now
in the NFL, do you realize they broke camp right, Yeah, yep,
it's been three weeks at the most, and they they
they haven't put on I mean, you don't have to
put on pats two days. Camp goes fast. It's it's

(01:33:34):
over before it starts. Now those players are probably tired
of the grind, but for me, it's like just started.
It's over as they get ready for the season. Point is,
you don't have a lot of time to get stuff done,
so you have to maximize every If you think about
every practice, if you're you know, three and four and
five minutes, you're you're you know, flopping around and doing it.

(01:33:55):
Coach has to stop the drill. You're not getting the
reps and you need on the putting the library and
five minutes this practice, five minutes out before you're done,
you've wasted four hours of your time. And that is
two and a half practices this day and age, and
those two and a half practices are huge because you
don't get many of them. And so the ability to
like McVeigh knows this. McVeigh grew up in football with

(01:34:16):
his pops, and we know Demico Ryans has been around.
I mean, these guys, they've seen it. Whether it's coaches, sons,
executive sons, or any of us have been around football
our whole life. I've been on teams that don't know
how to practice. Meaning, guy comes up in thumps and
twits a guy ground coach like blows a whistle, stops down.
We're not people, We're not knocking people to the ground.

(01:34:38):
Two plays later, dude jumps off sides and jumps off
sides again. Coach say, Folcus, we've got to stop practice down,
Let's go tempo. Mean and Demico Ryans and when to
be physical. There is a unique slippery slope, but a
unique ability to know how to go full speed and
keep people off the ground and keep it from getting hurt. Now,

(01:34:59):
it's hard to do all the time, people get hurt.
But it is learning how to practice with tempo, intensity, respect,
hard work, doing it mentally right so we're not stopping
down every third play and over coaching. Denny Green used
to it, used to drive and create coaches quit talking
to him. Let's go run this again, and let's go
play at temple. I don't care about that. Let's go.

(01:35:21):
We're getting this. He wanted to go through it well,
correct stuff on a film, and Trey, we'll correct down
on a film. Tinker, let's get going. He couldn't stand sluggish,
non tempo filled practices. And I think Demiko runs Chris
practices shouldn't be They don't need to be two hours
and fifteen minutes Buck forty five. You should be able
to get it all done. And Demiko RNs And it's

(01:35:43):
to me that's one of the highest compliments you can
pay a coach is the way his players practice. Yeah,
and Sean McVay knows he's won a super Bowl. He
knows what that what that's like, and to know what
it's like. And Demiko RNs is in this infancy of
his coaching career is head coaching career. And what you
do is you've grabbed that from all different kinds of
coaches you've been around and learn from and apply that

(01:36:04):
to the practice and say here's how we're gonna do.
Because I don't believe you can have a lot of
flexibility on the practice field.

Speaker 9 (01:36:09):
I do it with three.

Speaker 6 (01:36:10):
You don't win the flexibility with Okay, guys, retireless move
when it comes to these drills and you put your
game plan in for that practice day, when you all,
here's our fifteen seven on seven plays, you can't you
don't have. You don't have enough practices to be overly
flex will say we'll only run ten today because we're
screwing up and we can't get out of the friggin huddle,
or when to drag a guy to the ground and

(01:36:30):
cause a fistfight. To me, learning how to practice is
the most under talked about thing in college and NFL
period completely, and it is important. And you can tell
you don't win ten games by ten games after three
wins by not knowing how to practice. They know how
to practice, and I'm telling you it is as underrated
as it gets. When we talk about NFL success. This

(01:36:52):
is a Demiko Ryans before we get to break. This
is a Demiko Ryan's talking about Sean McVay.

Speaker 11 (01:36:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:36:58):
I love working with McVay.

Speaker 25 (01:36:59):
He's he's always upbeat, he's hot energy, he's always encouraged
and always teaching, like given whatever it is defensively like hey,
great play, hey, or offensively like the guys is full
of energy. He's a positive guy. He's that guy I
love to be around because he's he's always coaching, always teaching.

(01:37:19):
But you can tell this guy, I love football, all right,
and whether it's encouraging CJ or uplifting Petree like, that's
what he's about and that's why he's been a successful
coach in the league.

Speaker 8 (01:37:30):
Obviously some mutual respect between Demiko Ryans and Sean McVay.
I don't know if maybe I'm just seeing it more
because there's more media coverage from what from the joint
practice yesterday, but just seeing other joint practices. What's one
thing that we always see. We always see the fights, right,
but we don't see the stuff that goes on in between.

Speaker 7 (01:37:46):
Excuse me.

Speaker 8 (01:37:47):
Yesterday I saw a video of Cooper Cup showing like
doing some hand motions to Tank Dell, almost like they
were going through routes together, right, So I'm sure Tank
Dell was picking the brain of Cooper Cup. Cooper Cup
one of the best wider resheters in the game. And
then and Dimiko Ryans just said it right here, Sean
McVay saying stuff to c J. Stroud to try to
help him out. I mean, those are the things that matter. Yeah,

(01:38:08):
you don't see that though.

Speaker 9 (01:38:09):
You know.

Speaker 6 (01:38:09):
I mean, you're competing against guys, but you know what,
in truth, you're all rooting for the same you were
rooting for success. And when they play against each other,
Sean McVay is not worried that the tip he gave
c J. Stroud is gonna beat his team. It's trying
to make people better and you like the kid and
you generally like him. It's the same thing Cooper Cup.
Share your wisdom. Isn't that part of being a great
leader and mentor sharing your wisdom and sharing your what

(01:38:30):
you've learned with somebody else. And if you're Tank Dell,
you should have two big ears and listen to every
friggin thing Cooper Cup's telling you. He's a triple Crown winner,
in the league. Yeah, yards receptions and touchdown catches in
the same season. So he gets it. And when Sean
mcvay's talking, he's been around some pretty good players. I'd
say the guy he's got a quarterback ain't half bad
himself in Stafford. He's going to the Hall of Fame too.

(01:38:51):
So yeah, it is important. And you're exactly right. We
see all you fight breakout in the physical and that
all that's good and fine and dandy, but it's the
little things. You're standing around a drill and you're some
other receivers playing and Cooper cut hey tank man like
your rookie. Hey, well, Cooper, you what about this? When
you run that shadow cross, do you stare step in

(01:39:12):
give me some whatever he's talking about. Or when you're
steming up, when you run your straight stem corner route
and you lean, when you start your lean and you're
coming out, I mean, all those and where are your
eyes when you're coming off?

Speaker 26 (01:39:22):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:39:22):
All those things that just a little extra advantage to
help to help a fellow. The one thing about all
the competition, when all said and done, when the competition's over,
you're still around those dudes at tournaments off season things
and there's still guys you care about in their careers
and then we just it all put into a you know,
a pot, and you talk about all the things you
did in your career. So why not help somebody else,

(01:39:44):
not just your own teammate. Super Cup doesn't have to
cover Tank Dell. Ye go get them. I'm a receiver
first and teammate. But I love the fact that's called
mutual respect for two teams and two coaches who understand.

Speaker 11 (01:39:57):
C J.

Speaker 8 (01:39:57):
Shroud spoke about how long this can was for him
and the Texans and how.

Speaker 6 (01:40:03):
They ever want to hear anybody tell me it's a
log camp anymore.

Speaker 7 (01:40:07):
Yeah, from what you went through.

Speaker 6 (01:40:08):
Yeah, CJ, I love you.

Speaker 19 (01:40:10):
Do.

Speaker 6 (01:40:10):
Tell me how tired you are from a log camp, brother,
because this a'ate a log camp. Okay, I'll take you back.
He'd probably he's got old school old sold in him
to where he could handle those two. Yeah, I'm kidding,
but yeah, I didn't mean to interrupt you. But no,
I don't want to hear anybody complain about the legal
training camp anymore, not compared to what you went through. Gosh,
are you kidding?

Speaker 7 (01:40:27):
Yeah, we'll hear that and discuss the.

Speaker 6 (01:40:29):
Next, Hey guys, Southwest Football League listen. I know that
the registration for the programs ended. We say ended on
the fifteenth of August, but there was late registration, late registration,
and especially those third through sixth graders, the sophomore junior programs,
those tackle programs where it's so important to learn. We
got opportunity there and normal registration fees and cost of

(01:40:51):
equipment somewhere around one thousand bucks, one thousand dollars. And
guess what the thousand dollars value, you know, cost to parents.
Now free equipment for those youth tackle football sign up
and go for free. The three divisions are Sophomore, Junior
and the Sophomores and juniors. And if you're a new signee,
it's your first time, you know, play hard, play smart

(01:41:13):
in the youth tackle football at the Southwest Football League.
For all first time enrollies and the sophomore and junior
tackle programs, you're going to receive free equipment shoulder pads,
padded pants, and helmet. That's expend We've got one thousand bucks.
So when you're getting great coaching and great teaching, great
mentorship right there at s FLTX dot org, you can
go find at all and you don't have to pay,

(01:41:35):
and all the equipment's free. Man, are you gonna learn
a lot the best football. I'm telling you it's the
best football league on the planet. If I say the country,
it's fair. Why because Texas is the best football state.
So you're gonna get taught by guys like Malcolm Butler.
You're gonna be playing great football. And they've got it
to where you know, the six man, the sophomore six
man grades three and four, Junior eight man grades five

(01:41:56):
and six, and the senior eleven man seven and eight
is a prepare you for high school tackle football taught right,
mentorship done right, and it's no cost to the parents,
and scholarships are available and there is late signups available. Also,
get out there. Whether you're a quarterback, a defensive tackle, lineman.
You want to be taught right. Parents, you want it
done right. This is the time to teach them right
so they're prepared for what's next. It's Southwest Football League,

(01:42:19):
Southwest Football League, it's s f L t X dot org.

Speaker 7 (01:42:23):
And it's no cost to the parents. For the Shawn
Salisbury Show continued.

Speaker 2 (01:42:31):
Talk of them are than my brothers sappening.

Speaker 16 (01:42:34):
Shah.

Speaker 13 (01:42:35):
We're talking about practice, now, what you're talking about.

Speaker 22 (01:42:38):
We're talking about practice.

Speaker 6 (01:42:39):
Your damn right, I am.

Speaker 16 (01:42:43):
Hey, hey, shot at in any.

Speaker 22 (01:42:46):
Level, you know, Pop Lorner, high school, college, man, if
you go out there jacking around in practice, you're gonna
get it handed to you on the game day.

Speaker 9 (01:42:54):
That's for sure.

Speaker 6 (01:42:55):
I guarantee it.

Speaker 10 (01:42:56):
You know, you can guarantee it.

Speaker 21 (01:42:58):
But let me say it is those odd and in
Florida's closest shine, my little spinning football in high school,
a little bit of college is I wouldn't I would.
I'll be the first admit I wasn't the best guy
at practice, you know, especially in football, man, you know,
because football is a grind, right, Oh yeah, so you know,
you know, so you have some guys that are decent

(01:43:21):
at practice and better in the game, and then you
have some guys that are warriors and practice and getting
the game.

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
He came bust a great, you know.

Speaker 6 (01:43:28):
So yeah, and there's two different ways I'm looking at that.
You're exactly right. We have we called him practice field
all Americans or the guy was a was a stud
on the practice field. Game day came and he couldn't
tackle anybody. Couldn't catch a lick and sucked.

Speaker 2 (01:43:42):
It's like, dude couldn't.

Speaker 6 (01:43:45):
At all say man, but on Wednesday he was a bitch.
Now you can block his ass, okay. And then there's
that guy who's like kind of i'll tell you perfect
example who was not a great practice player, and he's
one of my best friends, and he'll admit it was
Jim McMahon. Jim was not a good Now, Warren Moon
was a precise practice guy. Precise on Sunday, Jim just
kind of was all over the place, right, just kind

(01:44:06):
of like his personal right phenomenal, but a practice If
you watched practice and said, how are we going to judge?
We're judging our team going into the Sunday by their
practice and how they and how solid and great they
performed in practice, and you watch Jim, you'd say, oh, hell,
But when it came to Sunday, that cat knew how
to He'd run and die for a first down, take
a hit, make a throw. I mean he was a gamer,

(01:44:29):
a friggin gamer. I'm talking and you are one hundred
percent right. I want to listen, give me the gamer
all day. When I'm talking about practicing, right, I'm not
actually even talking about performance. I'm talking about effort, not
having to coach, effort, getting in and out of drills.
You know you're gonna make mistakes, all that stuff. I'm
talking about the guys. You know that guy who constantly

(01:44:49):
hits guys and knocks him to the ground because he's
trying to prove an ego point and coach like, that's
the fourth time today you've wrapped up and dragged the
guy to the ground. We're not doing that here. That
guy that that drives from right now, I love his physicality,
but that's the stuff that slows down practice. I'm not
even talking performance. I know what you're talking about. I'm
talking about just the ability to get in and out
of drills. It's an hour and forty five minute practice.

(01:45:11):
Let's make sure it's an hour and forty five minute practice.
We're not sitting out here for two hours and ten
minutes because we've got to repeat plays. Just let's go
and we'll correct later. There is a way to do
that and practicing right, practicing good. I know plenty of
guys that work good practice players, but damn were they
monsters on Sunday? And I'll take that guy any day
in a week.

Speaker 22 (01:45:29):
You're all right, you talking about organization and being precise
and being on the same page.

Speaker 2 (01:45:36):
Just what you're talking about, that's exact.

Speaker 6 (01:45:38):
Yet, that's exactly right, the organization of practice. We're on time,
We're through stretching seven on seven. Let's get to the
next drill. Don't drag guys to the ground. This is
a physical drill, but it's physical without wrapping up and
slamming some guy to the ground. I'm not talking about
the guy who drops four pass in practice, because usually
if you keep doing that, you're not gonna play anyway.

Speaker 7 (01:45:56):
But there are those superstars and we've seen them.

Speaker 6 (01:45:58):
And rarely if you practice poorly though the whole team,
do you play great, You're exactly right. Usually you practice well,
you've got a chance. If you practice bad, everybody's oh
my gosh throughout the week. But we all know that
guy or two on our team says, oh, he had
a bad practice. Good, everything's fine. We know he'll play
well on Sunday. There's there's always that guy that you say, damn,

(01:46:18):
or he didn't practice, egg, went through a couple of drills, hamm,
he's bothering him a little bit. On Sunday, he's showing up.
Give me that guy all day over the guy who's
a practice field All American. Then it chokes on his
own spit on Sunday. I'll take the first guy every day,
no doubt.

Speaker 21 (01:46:34):
I think I remember seeing a clip on LT and
he's he's notorious for that, you know, yep, uh, he
was just kind of just and he like and then.

Speaker 6 (01:46:42):
They say they go through the head.

Speaker 21 (01:46:44):
He knew all the where everybody was this and that
he just man, don't worry about that, dude.

Speaker 6 (01:46:48):
That was parcels great football in States for for LT.
And it's like, well, you're gonna treat LT different. Yep, sure,
m he's lawnch Taylor. He's gonna get treated there. I
ain't worried about that cat because I'm he's gonna make
every friggin play. Okay, you worry about yourself and some
coaches just and players don't even get mad. Oh that's LT.
That was Kenny easily with us and easily was a grinder.

(01:47:09):
But my rookie year, you know, as a bad man,
you ain't lying, dude, And I'm telling you, just when
he looks at you, you're scared to death and he's
the greatest guy on the planet. But when he's he
didn't practice. He didn't practice much a training camp because
we needed him. You know, his knees and his ankles
were beat up, but he was still. We needed him
every Sunday. So there was nobody bitching and complaining about

(01:47:30):
Kenny Easily out there in sweats, helping coach but looking
at all and getting all his football IQ because he
was always ready. Nobody complained about that. Why it was
Kenny Easily, And you are exactly right. That's a bad,
bad man.

Speaker 9 (01:47:42):
He is in the hall.

Speaker 6 (01:47:43):
He got in. Yeah, I think his most recent was
it this past year he got in hisury. Yes, finally
he was. Had he have been healthy his whole career, Biscuit,
you could have. You could have made the argument he's
as good as safety as we've ever had. He was
just body was banged up. But he is a frig
full grown ass man and he we didn't need him
to practice. We knew what he was bringing on Sunday,

(01:48:05):
and I'll be damned, he sure brought it. He was unbelievable. Man,
those guys, I'll take everything.

Speaker 16 (01:48:11):
Give me some breakout.

Speaker 6 (01:48:13):
He's a breakhouse there. You go hey, Q I mean biscuit.
Thank you very much, brother, appreciate you. Yes, thanks, love biscuit.
He's right practicing well, and you you want it all perfect?

Speaker 9 (01:48:24):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:48:24):
Practice great? Everybody on timesdress, but we there is I'm
sure you've seen the guy who's a horrible batting practice guy,
pop and everything and just ra yeah. Wait wait, it
happens all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:48:35):
Man.

Speaker 6 (01:48:35):
Every team has one of those. And once you finally
realize it's, oh, this is a trend you like. Go ahead, man,
he sucks at BP. He's not he's not real good
at it. Drop ball here, missed the throw there, Go ahead,
I'll be all right. Yeah, but you want a guy
who mirrored his practice, mirrored his game on Sunday, dude,
Warren move the ball rarely hit the ground, and his
his obsessive, compulsive precise on the practice field carried over

(01:48:59):
in the games. And now McMahon, they're all over the
freaking map. You know what they Jim was practicing bad.
You knew we were gonna be just fine. You know
what they say about practice, right, Uh, it makes perfect?
It's word on the streets or is it perfect? Practice
makes perfect? I think they did the proper performance. Proper
preparation prevents piss poor performance. The six piece, the Chuck knoxism. Yeah,

(01:49:22):
six piece, so practically piss out you have five, but
it was a six Ston't pe in my face and
call it rain. Been known to happen and known to happen,
Kelly has that's such a great point by Biscuit. Yeah,
is it this? H don't break his name up?

Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
Is it this?

Speaker 6 (01:49:38):
Uh? Football is a unique thing. There are those dudes
that come along easily, Lawrence Taylor that you're just not
gonna mess with them. You're just like, I don't if
Tunsel doesn't practice one time all year long. You say
you're gonna jump off sides once in the game. I
know that, but just go kick ass and do your thing.
There's certain guys, the tailors into the Kenny Easies that

(01:49:59):
are Hall of fame. You're like, I don't need to
worry about him. He'll show up on Sunday and give
me four quarters. I'm good with that guy all day,
every day. Some might say, ye had tons of ladis
is White didn't? Yeah, Well, if he misses it, the
first thing you have to check for is tons of
lightis Yeah, that's what you got checked for? You love
that saying.

Speaker 8 (01:50:18):
I thought you were gonna drop it. That's why I
was laughing. But you didn't say open the door for
you to drive it. Slam it home, baby. We'll continue
to talk Houston, Texans.

Speaker 7 (01:50:26):
What does CJ.

Speaker 8 (01:50:27):
Stroud about breaking camp? Let's talk about it next to
Sports Talk seven night. Before we get to that, let
me talk to you about Kobe Stevens Golf Apparel. Kobe
Stevens and the group were just over at Barton Creek
Fazzio Canyons Course. They were the presenting sponsor for the
Box Stow Memorial Championship over at Barton Creek Fazzio Canyon Course.

(01:50:49):
It was it was incredible two days watching the best
South Texas PGA players battling it out, and of course
they had the tent up UH and there was tons
of gear being sold, and of course it all goes
back to a charity organization out in Barton Creek. What
an event for Kobe Stevens Golf Apparel to be the
presenting sponsor for that Box Tow Memorial Championship over in

(01:51:12):
the Austin area. And you know one thing that you

to the website Kobe Stevens dot com.

Speaker 2 (01:52:11):
Let the celebration start more.

Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
Sean Salisbury on Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 7 (01:52:18):
A missed field goal that goes through the end zone
is a point? Yeah, if a tie, if it is
a tie game, a missed field goal can win the
game for you. And it happened last night.

Speaker 6 (01:52:28):
You know what that's called?

Speaker 11 (01:52:30):
What?

Speaker 6 (01:52:31):
Look it up?

Speaker 8 (01:52:32):
So I'm assuming Toronto that's the Argonauts correct RGOs RGOs
and then what is sskat suspats one one roughs?

Speaker 6 (01:52:40):
Yeah, Toronto won on a missed field goal twenty to nineteen.
Do you know what it's called? No? Ask what the ask?
What the one pointer? And the CFL is called. We
won a great Cup. I think we got a one
pointer in it. Might we might have. We won by
one point in our Great Cup over BC. I don't
know if we got a p or out. But it's

(01:53:00):
that's settled plenty of games throughout the course of time
there that has been the wonder say rogue but roue,
that that the one pointers settled has been the difference
in many games in the CFL for a reason like
that you miss but win? Yeah, crazy stuff. Why is

(01:53:20):
that just a different rule for them? And that's why
you know you miss it? And would you go out
of the end zone? Yeah, yeah, there's and I think
there's more than one way to get a rouge. I
think maybe I'm wrong, but I think there is there
might be another way. But yeah, so if you're swinging
through it, guess what you do? You swing through it?

Speaker 2 (01:53:39):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:53:39):
Yeah, if you're gonna miss, you can miss snaphook a
field goal and still get a point.

Speaker 7 (01:53:43):
Yeah, here it does.

Speaker 8 (01:53:44):
A Canadian Football League their official Twitter account posted walk
off rouge. Yeah, Urges only needed a single point to
win and they got it.

Speaker 6 (01:53:51):
That's the one where you're not kicking for the win
at the field. The field goal is great, but you're
kicking to kick it as hard and as far as
you can because it goes out of the back of
the en zone. Can't return it anyway. Right, Yeah, So
there you go. So walk off rouge. I'm not sure
it's not the first time, but that that's happened, and
rouge has been a difference a Point's been a difference
in many games there. But it's a nice little bonus

(01:54:13):
to have that you want to, you know, grab your kickers.
How did you miss twenty seven yard er?

Speaker 9 (01:54:18):
Right?

Speaker 6 (01:54:19):
You stam hooked it but it went out of the
end zone so you got all the distance us, right,
you win and losing it's the miss you still win. Yeah,
it's crazy. Kind of sounds like Major League Baseball and
some of the rules we got going in the NFL.
Now the gimmicks are flowing in the NFL and Major
League Baseball.

Speaker 7 (01:54:36):
Now that's true as well.

Speaker 6 (01:54:37):
CFL just got out in front of it.

Speaker 8 (01:54:38):
Yeah, sure it didn't. It's been going on for a while. Now,
that's crazy. Here's a CJ. Stroud after practice yesterday. It
was joint practice the Texans and Rams. He spoke about
breaking camp.

Speaker 12 (01:54:48):
Oh yeah, I mean it's kind of breaks camp up.
You know, like it's been a long, long, long, long
long camp. It's been a great camp. Throw a lot
of good on good. Like I think we have one
of the best defenses in the league and they keep
us on this. Also, you know, we have our days.
It's always back and forth, so like that's what you want.
You don't want to be one sided. And you know,
today kind of was good to see a new structure,

(01:55:10):
a new type of defense. I thought we handled it well.
You know, it's ups and downs. We got to get
better in a lot of different areas. But uh, you know, ultimately,
I think today we got what we needed and what
we wanted.

Speaker 8 (01:55:21):
That's just strou talking about joint practice with the Rams.
Long long camp. What say you, Sean, you went through long,
long camp.

Speaker 6 (01:55:29):
I love him, and he stressed long, long, long, long,
but successful camp. Just this day and age. They don't
know any different. Damn kids, they don't know real football.
I mean, they know real football, just a shorter version
of it. How long How long was y'all's camp? Well,
I gosh it, the longest one I can guarantee three
weeks was never at Yeah, no, well, maybe five weeks.

(01:55:50):
I was going to say it was before me, even
before mine. When they're in the seven they were going
six weeks. That's cool, Maybe five weeks, depending on when
coach lets you break camp. It was we had four
preseason games. You get a week before one or ten
days before one, two weeks and then you'd play four
of them, good solid five weeks, which is about two
weeks longer than that I mean. And then they shortened
and we could practice back to back days, back to

(01:56:13):
back practices in shorts I mean in full gear. We
I mean you put on full gear in the morning.
There are times you're putting on full gear at night. Now,
Dinny Green, when he came there later in our career.
He wanted about every third or fourth practice was like
after and enough, sew you know, you guys aren't throwing today,
go in and lift and we'll have special teams practice.
And I know a lot of guys because we wanted

(01:56:33):
to make sure our special teams were solid to and
give a whole hour and forty five to it. But
I mean when I broke into the league, dude, to
practice back to back practices and pads were an everyday occurrence,
and then they about every fourth day they'd give you
a time off. In college, back to back practice CBA
was we didn't get the dude, you don't have to
practice once a day. You can't practice back. You can't

(01:56:55):
practice back to back in pats.

Speaker 7 (01:56:56):
Are they still I know during camp, don't they house
the players in a hotel like you can't hotel?

Speaker 6 (01:57:02):
Well? Some now maybe we're getting to the point now
where teams are training at home and allowing their certain places,
allowing them to go home and sleep, to be sleep
in their own bedsleep with their fans, just beyond time,
which I get. Then there's some that leave and go
complete like they did here and went to West it
went to not Westernton. Now, they went to, uh, what's
the big resort now? It was in where Jerry the

(01:57:24):
big resort. It's a it's a Greenbrier. When Bill O'Brien here,
they went to they went to the y. Yeah, they
went to the Greenbrier. We you know, depending on we're
like in Minnesota, we went to Mankato, man Cato State.
It was about an hour and forty five minutes away
or whatever it was. And we'd practice there, say there
the whole time. Your family'd come up and busy on
the weekends and watch the scrimmages and stuff. And after

(01:57:46):
a home game you'd get the next day off sometimes
so you could spend the time with your family. See
you Monday morning, all those things. Right, But it was long.
This was not long.

Speaker 7 (01:57:55):
But they don't know any different, And so I get why.

Speaker 6 (01:57:57):
It's a long, long, long, long, long. But don't tell
that to the older school, even older school than me,
because they was three weeks was a country club. That's
how old school guys will look at this. Oh, you
you're in a country club. You can't even put on
pads twice in a row. Right, But I get what CJ. Saying,
in the realm of way it is now they just
shorter and save your legs the longer. But you're behind
schedule because but everybody's got the same schedule. I mean,

(01:58:18):
they all get the same amount of time to practice.
But the difference is you just it's hard to get
it all in and bodies and being as physical as
you want to be. That's why you see sloppy football
early in seasons. You ready to talk college football, Sure,
let's do it, don't. We got to get picks in.
Damn right, we do National champion. We got to pick
our got to do. We gotta pick our twelve teams
to get in the playoffs. Why save it for the
final Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 7 (01:58:40):
Yeah, let's go. We gotta get going. College football predictions.
Next on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 26 (01:58:45):
Eighty KBS Houston, AHD two Houston, iHeart Radio Station, the Astros,
the Rockets, Rockets, Pasty Fall, your home for your home teams.

Speaker 1 (01:59:28):
Salbury Overy Salsbury, Houston.

Speaker 9 (01:59:33):
Okay, let's do this.

Speaker 3 (01:59:35):
Sean Salisbury.

Speaker 4 (01:59:38):
There to usc Troupe's longtime friend, Shawn Salisbury.

Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
Ryan Lo Lima, go Lobos. This is the Sean Salsbury Show.

Speaker 7 (01:59:48):
That's what we're going to talk about this hour. Going
to make some predictions.

Speaker 8 (01:59:56):
First season where we're going to see twelve teams in
a college football playoff. Ex cited for that as well.
Where do you want to start, Sean gotta give Heisman?

Speaker 6 (02:00:13):
Well, do you want to go individual awards or just
go the five uh conference champions the ranked the highest
five rank conference champions. Now I'm trying to figure out
what are the conferences? PAC twelve is not it? Well,
I'm missing out on. Is the AAC the fifth what's
the fifth one.

Speaker 7 (02:00:34):
For Power five?

Speaker 6 (02:00:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (02:00:39):
XPACT twelve is not around. So the Big twelve, Big ten,
se C, A c C is. Yeah, it's gotta be
a is it AAC gotta be a part of it.
I mean, I know it's maybe a silly question. I'm
sitting here thinking how in the hell.

Speaker 7 (02:00:53):
No, it's actually now called the Power four okay, Perower
four conferences.

Speaker 6 (02:00:57):
And then they then you got the next uh a
eight teams? Is that what it's got to be? Correct? Uh? Huh?
Or is it the is it? Are we have we
added in this because of the PAC twelve. That's why
I did this offseason. I did not see yet. Is
there a for instance, like let's say Memphis goes on
and wins it, does their thing? Are they the non

(02:01:20):
power five top ranked conference champion? Does that get in now?
Or since it's only the Power four, is it Power
four and eight or Power five power four a non
powerful conference champion and then seven somewhere? That got lost
in translation this offseason for me.

Speaker 7 (02:01:41):
So it says twelve teams.

Speaker 8 (02:01:44):
It's the four highest ranked conference champions will be seated
one through four in each rule.

Speaker 7 (02:01:49):
Each we'll receive a first round bid.

Speaker 8 (02:01:51):
Then teams seeded five through twelve will play each other
in the first round on the home field of the
higher ranked team.

Speaker 6 (02:02:00):
So so there, so it is just the next eight
highest they're all at large bids. The highest ranked teams. Yes, okay,
so it could be anybody, all right. So I was
wondering because if they did that, did they do like
old school? Like Okay, the non Power five team that
wins their conference the highest ranked non Power five conference

(02:02:20):
champion or Power four, Now do they get since the
PAC twelves done, do they get an automatic bid?

Speaker 8 (02:02:27):
The answer is no, no, correct. Yeah, So it's uh
team seated one through four of those the Power four.
Now since the PAC twelve is gone.

Speaker 6 (02:02:35):
Which is so hard to say, and so gut ran,
I mean think about there's no there's not even the
pack PAC twelve network gone. Those guys are the job
people who had jobs. I mean, it's crazy, crazy, all right.

Speaker 12 (02:02:47):
So uh.

Speaker 8 (02:02:50):
Hey, let's uh, let's uh Chris Gordy is our college
football expert, obviously doing locked on sec Gordy, what's happening?

Speaker 11 (02:02:59):
What's up, guys?

Speaker 13 (02:03:00):
Yeah, so you got it? Finally, Yeah, it's the power
it's the Power four. The top four Power four conference
champs all moved to the front of the line. They'll
be the one, two, three, four seeds in the playoffs.
The top group of five team that's highest ranked will
get an automatic spot. In the playoffs. So to your point,
if it go yeah, but a lot of people are

(02:03:23):
thinking it's going to be Liberty because Liberty got through
last year and they have one of the weakest schedules
at all of college football and they're likely to go
on defeated. So a Liberty of Fresno State, they get
in a punch their ticket the wild card and all
this though is notre Dame because they get they have
special rules for them where if they have a really
good team and they're ranking you know whatever, it is

(02:03:44):
the top ten, that they get an automatic spot. So yeah,
other than that, it's all the rest are at large bids,
and you know, I think that's where it's gonna get
really complicated because people expect, you know, the SEC they're
going to get four or five teams in and all this,
and it's like, well, no, because you got to make
room for that group of five, you know, highest rec champion.

Speaker 6 (02:04:03):
If I thought when that's so, I'm glad I didn't
wasn't dreaming that that. This offseason when the Pac twelve
was eliminated bid, we went back to that. The and
the key here is that at large bid for the
fifth team, which is really not at large bid. It's
a conference champion, but it's a non power four and
so that that is in play, and then the other

(02:04:24):
seven are just straight at large bids. So there you go.
And Notre Dame is right, they always have special rules
for them, so there you go when it comes to this.
So I'm we appreciate you clearing that up. And it's
gonna it's gonna sound weird, but some good team I
don't know if any of them are going undefeated in
the in the in the group of five, but now Liberty,
Liberty scheduled, Liberty schedule says they got a chance.

Speaker 13 (02:04:48):
Yeah, and it's gonna be a lot I mean for
the conference champs too. It's gonna be a lot harder now,
like for an SGT team and going defeated a big
ten d you know, behind the State's gonna going defeed
it while they get you know, you got a organ
and you and so it's gonna be a lot harder now.
But the juggernaut or the this year it's gonna happen
is if you end up with four or five Big

(02:05:08):
ten teams that are all ten and two, and you
wind up with four or five at SEC teams are.

Speaker 9 (02:05:12):
Ten and two.

Speaker 13 (02:05:13):
I mean, what's gonna happen is we're gonna have teams
left out and you're gonna have at the end of
the season. People say, well, I mean it seems to
be a twenty team playoffs.

Speaker 6 (02:05:20):
Twelve is not right because and what's inevitably gonna happen
to a one loss conference champion that is not the
Power four? And that argument that, well, Liberty lost one,
but they dominate their schedule, they won the highest ranked
and then you get a team in the Big Ten
or the SEC who we know, on a good day's

(02:05:41):
beating that team. Oh well, you're not gonna get in
because they're gonna have a spot reserve for them. Whoever
the highest ranked group of five conference champion is. That's
not they don't have to be undefeated, right, Gordy, that's party.
They don't have to be undefeated. So there's gonna be
a team that misses out in one of those power conferences.
It's like, I mean, we can't and I don't mean
this disrespect, but did you look at Liberty sched You

(02:06:03):
know that's coming right that that is Fresno State cety.

Speaker 13 (02:06:09):
I think they'll change the rule eventually, and they're not
going to give the little guy an automatic spot because
look at what Liberty did in their ball game against
Ordin last year.

Speaker 2 (02:06:16):
I mean, they got obliterated, exactly right.

Speaker 13 (02:06:18):
I think I think they'll eventually move on from that.
But one more thing I'll leave you guys at this.
This is a this is a scenario that that could happen.

Speaker 11 (02:06:25):
Think of this.

Speaker 13 (02:06:26):
Let's say Georgia goes eleven to one the SEC. They
go to Atlanta and the SECU Championship. But let's say
you have Alabama sitting at ten and two, LSU at
ten and two, Missouri at ten and two, and Ole
miss at tenant two. Well, they go to a tiebreaker
scenario to see who's going to be the other team
going to the SEC championship. So that team that goes
goes and loses to Georgia, that team is now ten

(02:06:48):
and three. They've now played themselves out of the playoffs
because all the other ten and two teams are going
to jump ahead of them in the rankings.

Speaker 6 (02:06:54):
And without playing a game, without being without the benefit
of going to the to the to the conference championship.

Speaker 13 (02:07:00):
Yeah, so if you're Sark in Texas, you might be
sitting there going, look, we don't want to go to Atlanta.
We don't want to play an extra game. We'd rather
sit you know, idle, not lose to Georgia and you know,
make the playoff the next week.

Speaker 6 (02:07:11):
Yeah, because there's a good chance a lot of teams
that go play Georgia we're gonna have a hard time
beating them. That's a great place you go there. You're like,
you know what, do we have a choice. Why don't
you give the second team that the the loss out
of the tie breaker?

Speaker 2 (02:07:23):
Let them go.

Speaker 6 (02:07:24):
We're gonna move up the rankings when they get their
ass kicked.

Speaker 11 (02:07:27):
Yeah, big of this, Shawn.

Speaker 13 (02:07:29):
Georgia and Texas, or rather Alabama and Texas both play
Georgia in the regular seasons, exactly get a rematch, you'd
have to play them again in Atlanta. And who wants
to do that?

Speaker 6 (02:07:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 13 (02:07:40):
I mean does the committee give you a pass and say, well,
they got two losses, but they were both to Georgia,
so I think they should still get in the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (02:07:46):
Right, Well, that argument's coming too. If that's if that's
the case, and you and I both know it, you
know that argument's coming. We're in for a chaos with Hey,
the more their people are involved, the more chaos is
gonna be. We think eliminate chaos. Gordy's right, it's gonna
it's gonna add to it. There's no there's no doubtab.
You didn't hijack. Now that's a good point because we

(02:08:08):
were the question on that fifth team before we get
the seven at large business uh uh? Seven at large
bids in the in the playoff. Gordy, thanks, man, I
appreciate it. It's intersection that is so that is the case,
and it's like it seems like he gets updated all
that time. That's gonna make so Memphis, Fresno State, Liberty.
I'm just telling you what's going to happen. A really
good Big ten in SEC team or a c whoever

(02:08:30):
it is, is gonna have a really good record, not
make their conference championship, belong in that they're gonna be.
They're gonna belong in the top twelve. And I understand
the little guy, but a Fresno State who played a
much much less I mean, a less difficult schedule, or
a Memphis or a Liberty is going to get in

(02:08:52):
and that team, Like when Gordy's talking about and in
truth is think about that Texas has Georgia here, say
you go want to go ten and two and you
beat him here and then, but you're in presient day, Dan,
you're through tiebreakers, whatever, you're the conference champion. You got
to go back to Atlanta. You're like, we already beat
him once. I don't want to go play them again
because we're not the chance. You've beating Georgia twice the

(02:09:12):
same season. Are not real good? Not happening. So you'd say, well,
wait a second, now, I don't want to go to Atlanta.
We'll stay right here. We'll hey pass go to the
next guy, like in the waiver wire. Now we don't
want that. You go ahead, we'll stay home. You can
let them have the money. They go get their ass
kicked by Georgia, and we'll still go to the playoff.

(02:09:33):
Because a ten and three team that loses in the
championship may have that there's gonna be argument through all
this that they don't deserve to go. And then there's
gonna be the argument we lost to Georgia. We waid
in the conference championship. The conference championship exactly, craziness, exactly,
that's crazy. And you're about to face it, and I'm
here for every freaking ounce of it.

Speaker 2 (02:09:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:09:51):
Same, All right, let's sell. Let's who do we think
is gonna win the Heisman? Le's talk about that next
on Sports Talk seven.

Speaker 2 (02:09:55):
Ninety on Salisbury.

Speaker 8 (02:10:00):
Show continues, who we think is gonna win the conference?
Who we think is going to win the national title?
Gets to the top twelve, like this is just this
is ridiculous. So let's start with the Power four ACC,
Big twelve, Big ten SEC.

Speaker 7 (02:10:17):
Who do you have win in the ACC?

Speaker 6 (02:10:20):
Florida State. I have Florida State as well, Big twelve,
oh Utah with Kansas State on the bubble. See the
team it's gonna compe in Oklahoma State as well.

Speaker 8 (02:10:33):
Yeah, so I have I And where I was leaning
is Oklahoma State or Utah. I've also got Utah as well.
Good quarterback play, he's been there for cam Ryse has
been there for nineteen years.

Speaker 6 (02:10:45):
So and you're not gonna lack any ounce of physicality
in that, I assure you. Big ten, Big ten, Ohio State.
I've got just in my mind, I've got Ohio State
in Oregon being the top two in that conference.

Speaker 7 (02:10:58):
I think Ohio State's just a little bit better.

Speaker 6 (02:11:00):
I'm going to tell you who you don't sleep on
is Penn State. Do not sleep on them. They're making
the playoff off in my opinion.

Speaker 9 (02:11:09):
And then.

Speaker 7 (02:11:11):
SEC it's Georgia.

Speaker 9 (02:11:13):
Yep, same with me.

Speaker 8 (02:11:14):
All right, so there are top four, my goodness. So
then you got to rank those. So I would say
Georgia's number one. I would say Ohio State's number two.
You had Florida State in your top four?

Speaker 7 (02:11:30):
Correct?

Speaker 6 (02:11:31):
I did?

Speaker 7 (02:11:33):
Between them and Utah? Who do you think would be better?
Who you think would be number three? Who do you
think will be number four?

Speaker 6 (02:11:38):
I'm going to my Utah would be the four seed
for me, a four seed, and Florida State the three seed.

Speaker 7 (02:11:44):
See I had them, I would have them flip, but
that's just me.

Speaker 8 (02:11:48):
I didn't do it flip them, So I'm gay. I
would go Utah three for me and then Florida State.
All right, Well here's how here's where it gets difficult.
Five through twelve.

Speaker 6 (02:12:00):
You know who I'm gonna tell you you have to
keep an eye on too.

Speaker 2 (02:12:05):
This is crazy.

Speaker 6 (02:12:06):
But they lost their coaching staff. Is Arizona's in the
big twelve?

Speaker 9 (02:12:11):
Now?

Speaker 7 (02:12:11):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (02:12:12):
Is that my correct? Don't sleep on them after last year,
but they did lose the coaching staff. Just don't sleep
on that. I would be very careful not to to
just completely wipe away Arizona from your thought process.

Speaker 7 (02:12:28):
Arizona preseason right number twenty one.

Speaker 6 (02:12:30):
Yeah, they're sneaky. They may not even be sneaky. They're
pretty good, pretty good, all right? So I got Georgia,
Ohio State, Florida State, and Utah my first four.

Speaker 8 (02:12:41):
Yeah, okay, then let's go. Then you gotta go five
through twelve. This is the craziness. So like for me,
I don't really care how you see these? Are you
seeding them now?

Speaker 6 (02:12:53):
We can? I'm just picking these next seven. I haven't
seated them yet. I'm just gonna that's kind of any
order we want, kind of leaning towards just who do
we think? Right? So I think seven? Who we thinks? Yeah?
And but remember will you have to pick a group
of five team because they're getting in. Yeah, So that's

(02:13:15):
like uh, Liberty, Boise State, Liberty, Boise State, uh, Fresno State, Memphis.
That that's where you got to go with that.

Speaker 8 (02:13:27):
Well, conference is Louisville in these days, Louisville's in the
in the I see right, Yeah, okay, I'm just looking
at rankings, like teams like Boise State got some rankings
to get in the top twenty five. Obviously, Liberty is
right there, Memphis is right there. So yeah, it's like
Boise State Liberty and uh Memphis utsa two lane like

(02:13:51):
the app State, Like teams like that, right, Yeah, why
the hell Colorado got a vote to be in the.

Speaker 7 (02:13:57):
Top twenty five. You've got to be kidding me, Well
on a joke, that's not gonna happen, all.

Speaker 8 (02:14:03):
Right, So let's go through our who we think so
obviously you want to get Do you think it's gonna
be Boise State Liberty or Memphis?

Speaker 6 (02:14:11):
Your your power not power five? Your group of five?
Are you asking me? Are you gonna tell me what
yours is? No, No, I'm just asking you. You want
to ask me? I already have mine in mind, Well
you do. Yeah, it's Liberty because of the schedule. Yeah, schedule.
If it's the easy schedule they go in to feed
that you're gonna have to put them in. You saw
last year, same thing.

Speaker 8 (02:14:27):
They were one of the top teams ranking wise, and
they got into a power January sixth or not changing yeah,
years six schedule is gonna say, of course we're getting in.
So Liberty is gonna be in there somewhere.

Speaker 6 (02:14:39):
Yeah, I'm thinking, uh, I'm just looking through one other conference.
You know what I'm gonna do this, Give me Liberty
or giving you give me Boise State. Okay, give me
Boise State. Is is the non uh Power four? Ye,
the group of five rep So then the rest is
gonna be teams from the Power four. That's almost a guarantee.

Speaker 8 (02:15:04):
Yeah, and and honestly it's probably going to be teams
from the SEC and Big ten. Do you have Clemson
or Miami in the top twelve?

Speaker 6 (02:15:17):
I got both Clemson and Miami as bubble teams. I
don't have them in my original twelve. Okay, I have
one ACC team in yes for State right, Yeah, Miami's.

Speaker 2 (02:15:31):
Loaded, we know that.

Speaker 6 (02:15:37):
Who was the other team? Clemson? Clemson the good you
know the club. Nick's a good player. It's time for
Dabbo to get his team back in there. I probably
I got them both on the bubble. I have one
a c C team, the Florida State in Okay, So
I think Oregon is going to be in there. I
think Texas is going to be in there. I think
Alabama's going to be in there. I don't know how

(02:15:59):
all this work. I'm just I think I like Penn
State as well. I think Ole Miss is a really
good team. I'm just I'm just going, let's see, here's mine,
while you're while you're going over yours. Notre Dame, got

(02:16:21):
Utah already, Notre Dame, LSU, Penn State, Alabama, Texas, Oregon,
and Ole Miss. Did I get that in?

Speaker 24 (02:16:33):
Is?

Speaker 14 (02:16:33):
That?

Speaker 13 (02:16:33):
Is that?

Speaker 6 (02:16:34):
Twelve?

Speaker 7 (02:16:34):
Teams say that? Oh and then you're yeah, Boise State
as well.

Speaker 6 (02:16:37):
I've six seven, twelve, Yeah, that's mine, Oregon, Notre Dame, LSU,
Penn State.

Speaker 9 (02:16:45):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (02:16:45):
I think Alabama, Texas, and ole Miss.

Speaker 7 (02:16:48):
I gotta get Notre Dame in there as well. I'm missing.

Speaker 6 (02:16:52):
Teams that I'm concerned that I left out that I
think could be in there. I think that I obviously
have Texas in there. Is I left out Michigan bubble
team for me, and I left out Miami. It's a

(02:17:13):
bubble team for me.

Speaker 7 (02:17:14):
O l s U there.

Speaker 6 (02:17:16):
So I'm gonna tell you what, and I'll tell you
who I'm least comfortable with in my first four real
quick I'm I'm least comfortable with Florida State. And I'm
gonna tell you why is what DJ is going to
show up. He had a great start to his Clemson

(02:17:39):
career and then it just went sideways, went to Oregon State.
Was okay, he's a veteran. Because I'm going to tell
you right now, if you said, Sean, who you choose,
and second, I'd probably choose the Hurricane. Second that i
would not sleep on Miami or Clemson. And I'm telling
you I would not sleep on Miami for sure. They're athletic,
they're physical and real. I just quarterback play. If you

(02:18:00):
said Jordan Travis was healthy and coming back, I'm good
with Florida State. DJ's talented, who I got to know
who he is. I'm just telling you, well, I got
Florida State in there. You will I will not be
shocked if if two of the other teams Flora, Clemson
are or Miami win it, and I will not be

(02:18:22):
surprised one bit if we come back here. I'm still
tempted to bet Miami in the final. What's this yours? No,
that's yours, that's uh oh yeah, But bet Miami to
get to the final. Four.

Speaker 7 (02:18:36):
I mean, not to the final four, but to win
their conference.

Speaker 6 (02:18:39):
DJ. You got to see how he.

Speaker 7 (02:18:40):
Plays another As we go to break, another team that
I like on my bubble, Missouri.

Speaker 6 (02:18:45):
They are I got written down here k State, Michigan, Clemson, Missouri,
and Ou are all bubble teams for me.

Speaker 7 (02:18:51):
I got Missouri and Miami, which is at the top
of the bubble.

Speaker 9 (02:18:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:18:54):
I got the two top at the bubble for me
in Missouri and Miami. Well, we'll get to the break
and continue this college football discussion.

Speaker 6 (02:18:58):
Next, classically Chevy Sugarland Classic Elite, Chevy Highway six. It's

three ninety nine a month, twenty four months ultra low

(02:20:24):

each Chevy Highway six together.

Speaker 7 (02:20:30):
Let's drive.

Speaker 9 (02:20:32):
We're that there.

Speaker 5 (02:20:33):
But the Sean Salisbury Show continues. Then dj uey unga
la Lay.

Speaker 6 (02:20:39):
Can't ward getting odds to win the Heisman this year.
He's a baller plus fourteen. He can play, So I reserve.
I can't wait to have more conversations about this next week.
Gordy was just in here and we are discussing. You
could come up with the scenario like Arizona nine and four,

(02:21:00):
eight and five winning a Big twelve that just beats
each other up, right, Kansas Stay, They're all beating each
other up. I'm just saying, and they are going to
be a top four seed when you could have a
couple of SEC or Big ten teams sitting at ten
and two that have to play the first round in
Arizona when you get to.

Speaker 7 (02:21:15):
Buy and Arizona's chilling as the Big twelve champion right now.

Speaker 6 (02:21:18):
Arizona's good football team. Do not misunderstanding, but you get
the point. Yeah, And Gordy made the point.

Speaker 12 (02:21:22):
Two.

Speaker 6 (02:21:22):
I'm this is where I'm concerned, and they are going
to reward good losses like the basketball tournament does. So
if you get beat by George on a walk off
field goal and some other team that in the SEC
or Big ten beat a team that they're supposed to
be by thirty, you're not getting over You're you're not
getting more credit. Good losses may get more credit than
your win win right. And then lastly, and I couldn't

(02:21:45):
agree more, Gordy brought this out. I've been thinking about
this all the time. To prevent all this. When the
final rankings are in, just give me the twelve best.
You give me the give me the twelve best, because
no offense, a four loss conference champion in the Big
in the in the Power four does not deserve to
get a first round by. I'm not saying now they

(02:22:06):
may have lost to the four powerhouse in the world.
You do not deserve to get a bye. You better
be playing if you If you were able to make
the top four with four or five losses, our top twelve,
so it's going to be really interesting. I just don't
know why you can't take the twelve best teams. That's
either that the twelve best teams, because what if Miami's
on the Bubble, they don't get in, don't win it in.
They're thirteenth and they lose out, and a team with

(02:22:28):
four losses wins the conference championship and they get in.
And Miami sitting here saying, well, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
we lost a game or lost two games and we
got knocked out of it. We're thirteenth and we got
beat we got upset in one game and lost to
Florida State whatever, and a four lost conference champion in
the Big twelve's going and we got it. We're not

(02:22:50):
only not getting in, we don't get a bye. That's
gonna happen, right, something like that's gonna happen. Of course,
it is more teams in more I mean, twelve teams
is good. But the way you're going to get into
those twelve teams, it's gonna be really interesting.

Speaker 7 (02:23:03):
Who's your Heisman Trophy favorite?

Speaker 6 (02:23:06):
Carson Beck at Georgia. Dylan Gabriel is gonna put up
phenomenal numbers at Organ with Dan Lanning. I do, like
cam Ward, I had somebody else written down. Let me
just make sure I got it. I'm gonna tell you
I think a sneaky one A mill Roe is gonna
be around because Alabama was good and they look what
Michael Pennix did at Washington. Now, Pennix is a better

(02:23:30):
thrower than mill Roll, but Milroll can play. And I'm
gonna tell you a sneaky one for me, Well, we
obviously will Howard at Ohio State Transfer. You have to
put Quinn Ewers in there because he can flat out
rip it. Don't sleep on Jackson Dart as well at
Ole miss their schedule says put up numbers, he can run.

(02:23:52):
I think Lane Kiffen would love that Jackson Dart came back.
He's now got experience, he's got a big time arm.
But the top of the list is going to be yours.
Cam Ward is going to be at the top, and
then the top two are gonna end up being I
don't know where they're ranked in my opinion, the top
Tour depending on how you have our Carson Beck and
Dylan Gabriel. I think it's a quarterback award. I think

(02:24:14):
a running back has to have a monster year to
go do it. I don't have a running back in
my first four or five guys.

Speaker 7 (02:24:20):
Yeah, just looking at like the odds.

Speaker 8 (02:24:22):
Dylan Gabriel the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at
plus five fifty, Carson Beck at plus eight hundred, Quinn
yours at plus twelve hundred, Will Howard plus fourteen hundred.

Speaker 6 (02:24:32):
So where's Willhard fourteen hundred, Nico, Tennessee. Yeah, Lama Lieva, Tennessee. Yep,
he's plus fourteen hundred.

Speaker 8 (02:24:43):
Jalen Milroe plus fourteen hundred, Jackson Dart plus fourteen hundred,
cam Ward plus fourteen hundred.

Speaker 7 (02:24:48):
And then garn Neusmyer lsu Garrett.

Speaker 6 (02:24:51):
Smer his dad played quarterback in college in the NFL.
For a minute two a NFL coach.

Speaker 8 (02:24:56):
As wells Myer plus eighteen hundred.

Speaker 6 (02:24:59):
Ye I, uh I. You went through all those names.
How many running backs you?

Speaker 7 (02:25:04):
There's not one. They're all quarterbacks. I'm gonna give my
nod to Carson Beck.

Speaker 6 (02:25:10):
Yeah, I'm leaning towards Carson Beck as well. And I
think Dylan Dylan Gabriel is gonna put up monster numbers.
But when you're the best player on the best team,
you're probably gonna win the Heisman Trophy. If that's a
safe one, give me a long shot. Picked it's not
a top five guy. I'm gonna just for a non
long shot guy. I'm gonna, I mean a long shot
guy that's not a top five you can give me.

(02:25:31):
Give me Jackson Dart as a non time because I
put yours in the top five. Give me Jackson Dart
with Ole miss and with Lane Kiffin's creativity. I think
he's primed for a really good season. And their their
schedule says they can put up some numbers.

Speaker 7 (02:25:45):
What's the run?

Speaker 6 (02:25:47):
Sleep on Will Howard? But he's top five odds wise right,
didn't say yeah plus fourteen?

Speaker 8 (02:25:52):
Yeah, plus fourteen? What's is there a running back? I
mean that could even have a shot. Then pencil, somebody's
gonna rear its head.

Speaker 6 (02:25:59):
So somebody, somebody is gonna rear their head when you're
talking about a clear cut guy like like Michigan, what's
my guy from Michigan last year, Blake Corhum They I'm
trying to think we're the first running back rears his
head and these Heisman odds on the ones I'm gonna.
I'm clicking to the ones now you're talking about. I

(02:26:19):
don't want to go through all the best thing guy
I'm thinking of Ohio State, No, no, no. The running
back for Oklahoma State, Alli Gordon. Oh yeah, he puts
up big numbers. Yeah, but they're the and they're wide
open in Oklahoma. State knows how to run the football,
but you're gonna have to have a great season as
a team, and these gaudy numbers quarterbacks put up are

(02:26:39):
just too much.

Speaker 15 (02:26:40):
You know.

Speaker 6 (02:26:40):
I knew.

Speaker 7 (02:26:41):
I knew, Like digging through some of these.

Speaker 8 (02:26:44):
Heisman odds, I knew at some point some rider out
there was gonna throw Shador Sanders and Travis Hunter in there,
and they did.

Speaker 2 (02:26:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:26:50):
I don't have either one of them even close. What
do we do well the odds accord the odds. I
don't have either one of them. I'm good players, but
they're good players, but they neither want to win in
the hig has been this year.

Speaker 7 (02:27:00):
No, I would say my long shot would be Ali Gordon.

Speaker 6 (02:27:05):
Take a running back. There you go, Yeah, Jack and
cam Ward's a really good player.

Speaker 11 (02:27:09):
Man.

Speaker 6 (02:27:10):
Where was he at Washington State? I think cam Ward
was a Washington State? Am I losing my mind saying
that before he transferred to the Miami Hurricanes. Wasn't he
Washington State?

Speaker 7 (02:27:21):
Washington State?

Speaker 6 (02:27:22):
It put up numbers, So we're in for fun and
somebody with somebody somebody will rear their head. There's gonna
be somebody say, damn, where'd he come from?

Speaker 9 (02:27:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (02:27:29):
That has you know, has a couple of good start
and but but Carson Beck and Dylan Gabriel pretty safe
starts along with Quinn Hewers at Quinn Ewers that you
know the coaches and you know what they're about. You
know what kind offense they run, which means big numbers.

Speaker 9 (02:27:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (02:27:42):
Yeah, let's let's give our national championship prediction. Uh, next
segment as we end the show, and also will Alex
Bregman play first base time against the Orioles don't. We'll
wrap up the show here on a Friday morning on
Sports Talk seven I. Let's also talk to you about
getting your home a home generator for Brotherly Love Electric.

(02:28:02):
Storm season is here. You do not want to be
left in the dark wind the power goes out here
in the city of Houston, So get yourself an American
made Briggs and Stratton home generator for Brotherly Love Electric.
The power went out for entirely too damn long when
Hurricane Barrel came through. It went down a couple weeks
prior to that, when that direcchro windstorm came down. I

(02:28:22):
know me and the Woodlands, I was out of power
for like almost twelve hours, and we didn't even really
get the super bad effects of that directo.

Speaker 7 (02:28:30):
That's just how the grid here in the city goes.

Speaker 8 (02:28:32):

came with the power outages. So get ahead of all

three three seven zero three four six seven seven seven

(02:29:16):

home Generator from brother They Love Electric.

Speaker 20 (02:29:23):
Hey, this is Charles Barker. You guys called I put
on some weight since my playing days. You shall see
Sean Solisborough horble. Now back to the Shan Solersborough show.
What a knucklehead.

Speaker 9 (02:29:38):
You got.

Speaker 7 (02:29:38):
Who's your national champion?

Speaker 6 (02:29:39):
Oh you ne't even give me your final four?

Speaker 7 (02:29:41):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (02:29:43):
Who's yourn?

Speaker 7 (02:29:45):
But say f the final four?

Speaker 2 (02:29:46):
Who is it?

Speaker 7 (02:29:47):
Final four?

Speaker 6 (02:29:49):
This is just your list of pre final four. I'll
get you in a week week one week zero. You
have reserved the right to change next week unless you're
picking Georgia Tech or well Florida State.

Speaker 7 (02:30:03):
I think it's going to be Georgia Ohio State.

Speaker 6 (02:30:10):
A lot of people love the fighting Iris this year man, No,
Notre Dame bums.

Speaker 7 (02:30:16):
Overrated every single year. Wow, Georgia Ohio State.

Speaker 8 (02:30:24):
I'm gonna give a nod to Oregon Oregon or Oregon Oregon,
all right? And then I almost want to put Texas
or Alabama in.

Speaker 6 (02:30:38):
Mill row dog.

Speaker 8 (02:30:39):
Yeah, but Caitlin Debowie. Different regime won't matter. They'll be
physical and all that, but they don't they're not coached
by Nick Saban.

Speaker 7 (02:30:46):
They won't. They won't make it. I'm going to give
the nod to Texas.

Speaker 6 (02:30:50):
Gosh, I didn't want you. I mean because right now
my initial lean is Ohio State, Georgia, Oregon, and Texas.
Are you serious? That's serious? Hey? Well at least we
at least run on the same page. Yeah, that's that's

(02:31:10):
who I have. But I'm going to change that sometime
next week because we can't.

Speaker 7 (02:31:14):
Have the same We can. I know we can.

Speaker 8 (02:31:16):
I said it before me. You're obviously your football IQ
is way higher than mine. So me giving my first
I do feel pretty good about it. I feel even
better now that I know that you pick the same thing.

Speaker 6 (02:31:27):
Yeah I was. I'm laboring because I think I think
Notre Dame what Riley Leonard. I think they're pretty good,
but your they find a way to not win it
every year, and Ohio State's been the same. Yes, I agree,
Ohio State has been the same, but man, this team's low.
If Ryan Day didn't win it this year, he's fired,
he's done. His whole coach is out. They're doing on
some some teams that that that are Penn State's going

(02:31:48):
to be around.

Speaker 7 (02:31:48):
So my teams I think that will hang around.

Speaker 6 (02:31:52):
Utah's physical and well they have enough finesse.

Speaker 8 (02:31:55):
I was gonna say Utah is so physical. Penn State
is the same thing. I also, I don't think you
can sleep on Old Miss this year.

Speaker 7 (02:32:02):
I don't think it.

Speaker 6 (02:32:02):
Gets right down to I don't think Ole Miss and
I mean I think ole Miss runs into teams that
have just got a little more skill than them.

Speaker 7 (02:32:09):
Yea four.

Speaker 6 (02:32:12):
Yeah, I do too, just the same one.

Speaker 7 (02:32:13):
I just don't think anybody is going to be Georgia.

Speaker 6 (02:32:15):
And I think that I don't think Georgia makes it
to the final. That's my initial thing here. I think
it's going to be like Texas versus Ohio State, Texas
Firs Oregon. I think that it's I'm not picking Georgia
to go trifecta. That's three in a row, that's to do.

Speaker 7 (02:32:29):
Oh no, they Michigan won last year.

Speaker 6 (02:32:31):
Oh that's right, Georgia got to the final. No, they
got beat beat in the semi right, who get beaty
years ago?

Speaker 8 (02:32:41):
SEC exactly got bumped out of the top four. That's
exactly why beat the breaks off Florida to.

Speaker 6 (02:32:47):
Send the message. I'm thinking about two years ago. So
they were going for the back to back in the
trifecta last year. So that's exactly right. But I still
to me, it's hard to sustain that greatness in this
day and age with recruiting, even though Kirby Smart's done it. Yeah,
I'm saying here losing my mind. I forgot Floridas did

(02:33:07):
the whole thing, and they today getting in. That's exactly right.
And it was Washington, Texas, Michigan and Alabama Alabama and
them not getting I'm sitting here thinking, Sean, you're a
year behind. That's exactly right. When we all knew at
the time Georgia might have very well been the best
team in America anyway. And then they took and they
waxed the floor with Florida, with Florida State without their quarterback,

(02:33:29):
and sent a message, Yeah, Sean slowed down. It was
don't go all the way back to twenty twenty two.
I still don't think that. I think the Longhorns may
be playing in the finals this year.

Speaker 7 (02:33:39):
Love to see it.

Speaker 6 (02:33:40):
I do too, and Sark and both Ryan Day also
a lot to prove. When I say a lot to prove,
meaning championship caliber, winning it as head coaches football wise.

Speaker 7 (02:33:50):
Does Alex Bergman play first base tonight?

Speaker 8 (02:33:52):
Yes, yes he does. We'll see six oh five, first pitch,
five o'clock.

Speaker 6 (02:33:58):
We are talking about the controversy Georgia and the best
heave in America possibly last year found themselves not getting
that's right because they dropped all the way to six
if I'm not mistaken, weren't they and had them to
beat Florida State to move up to five.

Speaker 8 (02:34:10):
Yeah, yeah, there you go. It's craziness. Sure is that's
going to do it. He is Sewn Salisbury, our producer
as Emmanuel Elmore kind of college Football Weekend, Yeah Man
week zero, I'm bad. Watched Gregman with that big glove
at first space stated here I am Brian li Lima.
