Toby and Chili Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one wash FM.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Toby and Chili in the Morning, ninety seven point one
wash FM. Good morning, I'm Kiddosha. Great to have you
here on a Tuesday morning. How you feeling this morning,
I'm feeling great, Chili. One year ago today, I accidentally
quit drinking.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
What do you mean you accidentally stop drinking alcohol? How
does that happen?
Speaker 2 (00:24):
So I had a friend who had stopped, and he
was like six or seven months into his journey, and
I'm like, well, I just want to see how long
I can go for and so I started and I
haven't had alcohol in a year, which, as you know,
is a lot for me.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
That is a lot for most people, because people, I
guess think of alcohol as like celebratory beverage, potentially maybe
having it when you're grilling and stuff.
Speaker 4 (00:50):
Are you going to stick with the not having any.
Speaker 2 (00:53):
It's interesting, you say, that's kind of like, now I've
hit this big milestone one year. Now, maybe I start
back up, you know, But don't you feel better? I
feel better, I sleep, all things better. So that's the
hard trade.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Yeah, No, that's great.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
I will tell you the one thing that I learned
in this process. And I think what made it so
easy was I didn't set a timeline. I didn't say
I'm going to do it for a year. I just said,
let me see how long I can do it for.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
So and I'm guessing it was the toughest when it's
like a holiday or an occasion and people are raising
their glass and you're like, hey, here's my a beer.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
No, there's plenty of many beers. It's fine, all right,
good luck to you if you're on a journey as well.
We're glad you're here on a Tuesday morning and a
busy Tuesday morning. It's election day, so Chilly's gonna update

(04:05):
Morning in DC. It's Toby and Chili in the Morning.
I'm Kidosha. It's time for our morning mindset.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Marilyn Monroe once said, sometimes good things fall apart so
better things could fall together. Basically, when something in your
life doesn't work out, like a job, a relationship, or
a plan that you had, it can actually make room
for something even better to come along. I know that's
hard to think about, but try not to get too
discouraged when things go wrong, because those setbacks might be
(04:32):
clearing the way for opportunities you didn't even expect. So again,
Marilyn Monroe said, sometimes good things fall apart, so better
things could fall together. And you can find that quote
on the tobyanchilipage at washefm dot com.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
It's also on our Instagram page. If you want to
share that with somebody, just search WASHFM on Instagram and
it's easy to share that video. Then thank you, Chili.
Coming up next, there is a company proposing technology that
would be sunlight to Earth even at night. I know
it sounds like it's right out of a sci fi movie, right,
So we're asking the question this morning, what sci fi
or TV tech do you wish existed in real life?
(05:09):
Eight six six nine two seven four three sixty one
to join the conversation, we'll get some of your calls.
Coming up next, Toby and Chilly in the morning, ninety
seven point one wash FM. I'm kidd o'she. We're asking
the question, what sci fi or TV technology do you
wish existed? Here's the reason we're talking about it.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
At California, startup called reflect Orbital wants to sell sunlight
at night. They're gonna use these satellites with big mirrors
to bounce sunlight back to Earth after dark, to give
like solar panels or cities extra light when the sun's
not shining. But experts are like that could cause problems, Yeah,
you know, like light pollution, hurt the wildlife and such.
Speaker 4 (05:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Or my sleep What would you want to see hath
been Chile if you could?
Speaker 3 (05:52):
If those sleep pods that stop your aging? Oh, I
would love to slow down the growth of my brain
and all the other things.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
I think I would agree with you on that. I'd
also add flying cars to the list. I'd like to
see that happen, which sounds like we might not be
too far away.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
No, not at all, We're just almost of the Jetsons.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Okay eight six six ninety two seven four three six
one Lisa in falls Church, what would you put on
the list?
Speaker 5 (06:16):
I'd take the Star Trek transporter, the hands down, no
more traffic, no more lines, Just beat me to work and.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
I'm there, finally be on time for once in my life.
That would be the best.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
The transport because I hate flying, so this would be
like you're there literally in seconds.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
I don't know that I'd do it to work, though,
I'd go somewhere else, but.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
You could constantly do it.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
And you're true, true Brad in Bethesda. What would you
put on the list?
Speaker 6 (06:41):
If anyone says anything other than a lightsaber, they're not.
I mean, how could you not want anything other than that?
It's the ultimate sci fi invention. Yeah, who doesn't want
to freaking the lightsaber?
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Well, you'd have to be a little bit careful how
you're swinging that thing. Yeah, so you can do a
lot of destruction in a very short amount of time.
But thanks for the call.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
If you want to join the conversation, open up the
free iHeartRadio app right now and tap that red microphone

now tied the record for the longest in US history.
The Senate will vote for the fourteenth time, with Majority
Leader John Thune expressing optimism for a resolution this week. Meanwhile,
the USDA plans to use contingency funds to provide partial
(08:25):

(09:43):
a Tuesday together on ninety seven point one Wash FM
with Toby and Chile in the morning. I'm kiddo'shae. What
happens when you put zero effort into your Halloween costume,
well you get national attention for it.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
What the heck are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (09:56):
So Friday from my TV job on Good Morning Washington,
and instead of making me dress up in a costume,
they brought in a face painter to face paint anything
that I wanted, and I said, well, just paint a pirate,
make me look like a pirate. So I wore my
regular clothes and I just had my face painted like
a pirate.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
And I saw the picture. It's like half your face.
I couldn't even tell it as a pirate.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
But how did you end up? What do you mean?
National TV?
Speaker 2 (10:21):
So then John Oliver on HBO does his show and
he does little clips of people and local TV shows
that are talking about Halloween. And I made it into
there saying look at the little effort I put into Halloween.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Yeah, so now everyone got to see my Halloween costume.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
You know what, I'm actually kind of excited about this.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
You think this is good luck for us, because.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Your dumb luck if it rubs off into our costume
contest here at work, where I made you wear a
T shirt that said do not speak to me as
an antisocial or introvert person. Then we're going to find
out later today if you and I want.
Speaker 2 (10:56):
Here another costume that didn't take a lot of work.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Fingers crossed.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Toby and Chili's nearly impossible question.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
And we'll have the results tomorrow morning. Right here, right
now though, Time for the nearly impossible question. What is
the question today?

Dave in Manassais called and correctly guess that the answer

Speaker 4 (12:10):

Speaker 3 (12:13):

How often do you use the words like.
Speaker 6 (16:57):
So m?
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Those are called fillers, and it looks like a growing
number of people are looking to clean up their speech.
Google searches for filler words have jumped one hundred and
forty four percent in just one month, suggesting that people
are becoming more aware and maybe a little bit embarrassed
about how they sound when they say um or they
use like all the time when they're speaking.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
I feel like you're looking at me chilling. No, I'm
just saying what I know I want to say too.
So now I'm self conscious about it. I think it's
normal for us to do this.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
But have you ever noticed when you're watching somebody speak
and they if they um every other word or they
use like every other word.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (17:40):
I can't even pay attention to what they're saying anymore.
Those filler words are all I hear. So I get
that we're looking for different crutches or ways to avoid
using crutches.
Speaker 2 (17:50):
What should these new filler words be?
Speaker 4 (17:52):
You need to start doing Google searches figure it out.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Okay, all right, excellent, all right. Coming up next here
with Toby and Chilly in the Morning, we're talking when
is it too early to start decorating for Christmas? Halloween
is over? Can you start decorating for Christmas? Now? I

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Station and it's always on Halloween night. They're like, okay,
right for Christmas?
Speaker 3 (18:42):
And then I started seeing friends of mine, people I
personally know, start decorating little by little for Christmas.
Speaker 4 (18:52):
We haven't even had Thanksgiving yet. Are you one of
those people?
Speaker 2 (18:54):
Well? I can get pretty If WASHFM started playing Christmas
music today, I would probably listen to the Christmas music today.
I do like Christmas music. We only get like a
month and a half to enjoy it, so yeah, start
her up. Hallmark movie. If they started playing them today,
the Christmas movies, I'd watch it. What about your tree? Then?

point about giving Thanksgiving its due diligence Christy. But I
can also see why some people like to start a
