Toby and Chili Mornings on demand on ninety seven point
one wash FM.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Toby and Chilly in the Morning ninety's seven point one
wash FM, Good morning, it's Kiddoshe hope you're Thursday's off
to a great start.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
Do you seem to have a little pep in your steps?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
Sir Chili. I woke up this morning and I looked
in the mirror and I said, oh, wow, you slept well.
How can you tell that you slept well? I can
tell when my hair is really a mess because it
shows that I slept hard. I was intensely pushed up
against my pillow in a way that I'm not normally
because I'm a light sleeper.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Wait, see, to me, that would be opposite. When my
hair is a mess like a big rats you know, yeah,
bird's nest, it means I tossed and turned all night.
I means I didn't see Sully. When I wake up
and my hair looks like it's still freshly blown out, yeah,
then I know I probably didn't move much. That's interesting
that it's different for you.

Speaker 4 (00:52):
Because it's just one side that is.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
So it's just that it's all messy on one side,
because usually I can get up and just go. I
don't have to take a shower in the morning, but
I had to take a shower. It takes I will
not look right if I walk in and Chili's like,
what happened?

Speaker 3 (01:07):
We do a whole reset. Yeah, no, well, I'm glad
to hear that.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Yeah, maybe it was all the full moons. I hope
you slept well as well, and we're glad you're here
on this Thursday morning. Chili's working on top stories coming
up next.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Big travel disruptions coming. There are plans to reduce air
traffic by ten percent at major airports, including all three
here in the DMB. More on that than just a few.

at least twelve people and injuring fifteen, officials say. The

the most stressful job in America belongs to two flight attendants.
The role combines jet lag, irregular hours, difficult passengers, safety responsibilities,

(03:07):
as well as long term health risks. Forecasts for today,
Sonny much cooler today. I is only fifty eight right now,
forty seven in Oakton.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
All right, let's get this Thursday off to a great
start with our morning mindset and inspirational quote to get
us all going as we get one step closer to
the weekend. Chili has that coming up next, plus more
music for your Thursday drive in with ninety seven point
one wash FM. Great feel good song from Phil Collins
on ninety seven point one wash FM with Toby and
Chile in the morning. I'm kiddoshay time for our morning mindset.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
Well, this quote is really going to make me sound
hypocritical because I wish I could follow this advice. William
James said the greatest weapon against stress is our ability
to choose one thought over another, basically saying we have
more control over our stress than we might think because
it often comes from the way we think about the situations,

(03:56):
not just about the situations. So if we could all
pause and decide to focus on a helpful, positive or
calming thought instead of letting our mind spiral into worry,
we can reduce our stress. It's like having an inner
remote control.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
Kid, I love that.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Change the channel on your thoughts, You control that remote.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Yeah, So, William James said, the greatest weapon against stress
is our ability to choose one thought over another. Easier
said than done. But possible. Yeah, just keep that in
mind as you take on the rest of your day,
and you can find that quote by following us on
our Instagram page washfm. You can also find it on

(04:37):
the Toby and Chili page at washefm dot com.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Today the quote actually helps Chili and you can see
it as she was presenting it, which I love.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
All right.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
We love sharing our morning mindset with you every morning
here coming up next. Yesterday we told you about a
new report that says most of us have just four
close friends, which is down from nine a decade ago.
So we want to know if this is true for
you and was there a reason those friendships ended eight
six six nine two seven four three six one eight
six six wash FM one to join the conversation journey

(05:07):
and open arms is ninety seven point one WASHEFM with
Toby and Chilly in the morning.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
I'm kidoshe.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
What is the reason you have fewer friends today than
you did a decade ago? Eight six six nine two
seven four three six one. Here's why we're talking about it.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Apparently, the average American now reports having just four close friends,
and over the past decade they've lost about nine friendships
and it's mainly because they've moved away, major life changes,
or one person simply stopped contacting the other.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Yeah, it's tough. What about you, Chili?

Speaker 3 (05:38):
This does hold true for me. I may even have
about four, maybe less than four, close friends right now.
It's harder to make new friends as you get older. Yeah,
and the reason I've lost touch with a lot of
friends over the past decade is not because of anything
they did or said, but because we entered different phases
in our life. Yeah, and maybe we'll reconnect again in

(06:01):
the future. But that's what about you?

Speaker 4 (06:03):
I would say.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, I mean the older I get, the harder it
is to I hate to say this care I don't
have the mental bandwidth to handle more than four friends.
I can barely handle me. True, you know, so I
can't be a good friend. It's me, it's not you.
Liz in falls Church, Welcome to the conversation. What would
you say? What is the reason you have fewer friends
today than you did a decade ago?

Speaker 6 (06:25):
Honestly, it was just a combination of feeling drained by
constant negativity and realizing.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Our lives we're just moving in different directions.

Speaker 6 (06:33):
Yeah, I didn't know how to address it, so I
just stopped responding. It wasn't my proudest moment, but sometimes
avoiding conflicts just feels a lot easier.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Oh, I hear you. That's so true, that negative energy.
You don't you just want to protect your own peace.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
And at the end of the day, it's like, I
just think we just shouldn't talk anymore. Gust and silver Spring,
good morning.

Speaker 7 (06:55):
I ended a friendship because he insulted my wife. Ah,
the line nobody gets away with that. How do you
think you're going to insult my wife and then just
go on like nothing happened.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Thanks Gus.

Speaker 3 (07:05):
That is good for you for standing up for your
wife though and choosing her over a friend.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
But it is how it's your friendship slowly end over time,
and so I think we're all going through this. We've
got a lot of phone lines lit up right now.
We'll get to more of your calls coming up after
six o'clock if you want to join the conversation eight
six six nine two seven four three six one. Chili's

safety and avoid any unstaffed air traffic control towers. The
legality of the President's tariffs now in the hands of

How Americans they've lost about nine friends over the past
decade and have maybe four close ones currently.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
Yeah, I'm okay with it. Jamie from Oakden, Welcome to
the conversation. What ended some of your friendships?

Speaker 7 (11:02):
I had a friend who I found out was talking
about me behind my oh things, stupid terrible things about
me that weren't even true. He was making stuff up
about me, saying things about my other friends. I just
gopped talking to him and I haven't heard from them
years and I don't care if I ever do again.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Was very high school. Yeah, exactly, I've grown past that
stage of gossip and rumored.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Goodbye, Chrissy from DC, what about you.

Speaker 8 (11:28):
I had to end a friendship because it started to
feel really one sided, like I was always the one
checking in, supporting them and showing up, but when I
needed something silence. Eventually I realized I was just exhausting
myself trying to keep something alive that they had already
let go of.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Yes, we all have been there.

Speaker 3 (11:49):
Yeah, there's actually one friend she just reminded me. I
was like, I wonder if I stopped reaching out and
initiating getting together, if I would ever hear from them.
And it's been thirteen years.

Speaker 5 (12:00):
Shelby and Chili's nearly impossible question.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
