Speaker 1 (00:02):
Wakem It gets my day going and makes me laugh.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
It Mac and Schmitty in the Morning on Star one
of five point seven. Good Lord, smitty y, good morning.
Welcome INTI your Tuesday. Did you happen to take a
look at that by a beautiful moon that's out here
this morning?

Speaker 3 (00:23):
I saw it last night.

Speaker 4 (00:24):
You saw it last year.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
My three year old used it as a way to
delay bedtime about six times.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
That's a pretty solid moon.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
You see a moon. I was like, yeah, the moon's
awake and you're not supposed to be back under the covers,
my dear.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Wait till he learns about the partial lunar clips that's
going to happen tonight. Well, he's at school today. I
guarantee he's gonna want to step fill about. I believe
peaks around not hit her her.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Although I saw loves going to bed. No, no, no,
this is my three year old girl. That's like if
she sees a leaf blown across the sidewalk, she'll come
let us know about it. The moon, the trees, the stars.
She went down about eleven last night.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Eh, she's advanced for her.

Speaker 3 (00:57):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, big time.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
All right, Well, yes, there is a beautiful super moon
out there this morning. If you're in the car right now,
you can just look out your window and go check
it out. But that's also going to be tonight, a
partial lunar eclipse, I guess, schmitty, And you don't need
to wear goofy glasses to watch it or anything like that, Okay,
which is kind of cool.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Quite honestly. I'm gonna be in bed. This is sorry.
I'm gonna speak to my beautiful moms out there. It's
a Tuesday. We're doing it all. I never catch those things.
Don't worry. They'll get to see everybody on Instagram posting
what they think are beautiful pictures.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Of it, movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
It's the celebrity scoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Well, this is breaking scoop that we will no doubt
be following all morning. Did he officially arrested and taken
into federal custody in New York last night? Source to
say Homeland Security swooped into a Midtown hotel late yesterday
where Diddy was staying and arrested him. Unconfirmed reports say
that the Feds are actually now searching his hotel room.

(01:59):
Did He was taken to the the FBI Field Office
in Manhattan. It appears the action was taken in connection
with this ongoing criminal investigation into alleged sex trafficking and
other offenses that led to those search warrants being issued
in both Beverly Hills and Miami. Remember, there has been
a grand jury that's been hearing testimony from various accusers

(02:20):
for months now. Law enforcement sources say did He's arrest
actually scheduled for today, but something happened that caused the
feds to move in a day earlier. US Attorney Damian
Williams says federal agents took him in based on a
sealed indictment filed by the Southern District of New York.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
It'll be interesting to see what that's sealed indicting. You
know what, this reminds me of Schmidty, justin that it
feels like it's in so many locations.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
It feels like Harvey Weinstein.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
I've been saying that for months.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Because New York, California, Florida. This guy is in trouble
all over the place.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
I'm not even looking at locations, I'm looking at accusers.
How far back this goes, I think you're gonna find
some very big similarities between people that wanted to speak
out decades ago and then their careers were suddenly squashed.
I think you're gonna see some very very interesting revelations
come out. Miley Cyrus allegedly copied Bruno Mars song for

(03:17):
her hit song Flowers. According to a new lawsuit, the
singer being sued for copyright infringement by Tempo Music Investments.
So not Bruno. This is a company that claims it
owns a share of the copyright for Bruno's song When
I Was Your Man. The lawsuit says that there are
so many musical similarities between Flowers and When I Was

(03:39):
Your Man, it's obviously the result of Miley intentionally copying Bruno.
Tempo Music claims the melody, the harmony, and the chorus
in Flowers are substantially similar to the verse in When
I Was Your Man, and that Miley's song copies the
chord progressions and mirror some of those lyrics as well.
So of course myle want a Grammy for Flowers, but

(04:02):
they're saying, with bruno song coming out almost a decade earlier,
she is due to pay them back. So far noward
from Miley on this.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
I mean, I can hear I guess his slight similarity
to it, but it does not feel like a copy
at all.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
What do you think?

Speaker 3 (04:20):
I don't know. I'm really bad at this kind of thing.
I do find it really interesting because I maybe don't
know the business well enough. Temple Music is saying Miley's
label and producers all had access to Bruno song from
the very start, and we're there when it was being
made Mintrees, So I don't know. Like I said, I
don't know the business well enough. We'll see if this
gets settled out of court. Finally, Shakira appeared to call

(04:40):
out a fan for filming up her dress during a
music shoot this weekend in Miami. It's really gross to
watch this video. So Shakira is at Miami's Live nightclub.
She is shooting a new music video, but you can
see the vibe get really cringey when she he looks
over at a fan obviously being used as an extra

(05:03):
in the music video shoot. She points to her eyes
with two fingers and then points to him, signaling I
know what you're doing. She gets off the stage, lets
her security now, and then move to vip to continue.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
To shoot that is creepy.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
I mean that's especially because if it's a music video
used Hume, it's a fan who really wants to you think,
wants to be there for you, be a part of
your video.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
They're doing creepy.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Stuff like video is disgusting. Got it up with your
Scoop West Michigan Star dot com.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Sometimes because I get a.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Good feeling, well, let's give you some positivity to take
with the end of these Tuesday it's feeling good on
startling O fine point seven, make and schmidty with you.
And you know, if you're a lawyer and you're called
an ambulance chaser, well that's a that's a knock for sure.

Speaker 4 (05:48):
That's a criticism if.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
You're a dog and you're an ambulance chaser, while you're
just a most loyal pub for sure. And that's what
happened in this heartwarming display of devotion that he's gone
absolutely viral all of the globe as a Columbian dog
was doing just that, chasing an ambulance. The incident happened
with the owner of the dog fell ill required immediate
medical attention, so the ambulance shows up there in Columbia

(06:12):
paramedics transporting them through the city, and the dog went Bsert,
refusing to stay behind, actually broke out of the home
that they lived in together and started chasing the ambulance
through the streets. Well that's when the drivers decide to
make a pretty interesting move, schmiddy. They went ahead and
stopped the car and let the dog into the back

(06:34):
of the ambulance. The whole thing captured on video. I've
got up for you on our stories right now at
West Michigan Star. But reportedly the dog continued to stay
with the owner at the hospital and never left their side.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
But just pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Just the pictures, it's the pictures. You've got to see.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
It is unbelievable. I mean, it's just another example of
why we don't deserve.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Dogs, all right. Kylie Kelsey, wife of recently retired Philadelphia
Eagles our center Jason Kelsey, knows that that last name
can give them a lot of recognition these days, so
she is using it for a new part of her platform.
NFL stadiums are full of all the noises, cheers, chance roars,
but Kelsey is sitting down with Good Morning America, said

(07:16):
there is a population of people that can find that
really stressful and overwhelming, and it's those dealing with autism.
So Kylie has taken on a new passion project, working
with the Eagles Autism Foundation to create a safe space
for all fans to enjoy the game. She tells GMA
she has a very special connection to this.

Speaker 6 (07:36):
Oftentimes families with kids on the spectrum will remove themselves
from situations or not put their kid in a situation
where they assume that they'll fail. I have a personal
connection to autism. My neighbor slash brother Air quotes Tim
Is on the spectrum. We grew up together, and he

(07:56):
has made it so obvious to me how important it
is to impact to the autism community.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
An impact she really has. This state of the art
sensory room at Lincoln Financial Field has everything quiet, calm
distractions that she explains, just sort of sends your brain
somewhere else for a little bit to calm you down.
That way everyone can enjoy it. This is very cool
and she hopes that's something she can teach her daughters

(08:23):
as well.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
We are already in the camp of like trying to
make sure that they speak kindly to each other, because
obviously that starts at home.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
And speaking and treating others kindly as well. This is
really cool. The Eagles the very first NFL team to
open a space like this in their stadium. Well, now
seventeen other teams around the league have joined creating similar
rooms for fans.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
That's pretty incredible right there, Just to say we went
from being the first to being a leader for seventeen
different cities.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Now that we're also absolutely example, very cool.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
Feel like it comes out to you a couple times
a day to tell you about great things that are
happening out there is they're all around you when you're
looking for them. We'll do it again coming up at
nine twenty this morning. Right here on Star Wine five points.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
It's the Celebritiescoop on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
Disgraced rapper and business mogul Diddy just arrested and taken
into federal custody in New York. This is breaking celeb
Scoop overnight. It happened late last night. Sources say Homeland
Security went into a Midtown hotel late last night where
Diddy was staying and then arrested him. Unconfirmed from ports

(09:30):
say that the FEDS are now searching his hotel room.
Did He taken to the FBI Field office in Manhattan.
It does appear the action was taken in connection to
the ongoing criminal investigation into alleged sex trafficking and other
offenses that led to those search warrants being issued in
both Beverly Hills and Miami. Of course, a grand jury

(09:50):
has been hearing testimony from various accusers over the last
few months. As of right now, the update is that
Diddy is still in Customer and in fact, a law
enforcement source said did He's arrest was scheduled for today,
but something happened that caused the Feds to move in
a day earlier. US attorney Damien Williams says that federal

(10:13):
agents took him in based on a sealed indictment filed
by the Southern District of New York.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I wonder what it could have been that, you know,
that made them go early, just because they saw he
was walking around with a shawn last weeklearly had no idea.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
This was coming, because, yeah, he was seen taking pictures
with fans. He was out with his son King strolling
around Central Park. Various spots in New York City. Clearly
did not know that this was going to be happening.
Jason Momoa has been accused of mistrading crew on the
Minecraft film, and one YouTuber said it was really really disappointing.

(10:48):
So she goes by the name Valkyre. She's a YouTube
streamer who has a cameo in the Minecraft movie and
joined Jason the Weien for an interview talking about the moment,
she went, Oh, no, he doesn't seem great.

Speaker 7 (11:00):
I would have to say, Jason Momoa really awkwoman. I
just saw him like mistreat some of the crew, and
it was pretty disappointing. It was after a very intense
scene and it was a very emotional scene, so maybe
he was still in character. I don't know, but I
just was kind of surprised by how he treated like
some of the crew and it was like he was

(11:22):
just really mad at them that they weren't doing something
right the way it was like setting up like the
shot and stuff, and like if it was just angry,
like really mad and like yelling and so it's like, man,
this is like not a good work environment. Like I
would not be happy working under these conditions. So yeah,
I would probably have to say that was probably like

(11:43):
the worst like celebrity thing I've seen is that sad.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
I don't know if Jason Momoa was like a method actor,
because you'll hear that a lot of people aren't certain
that someone goes deep into character and like doesn't talk
to people and can come off as kind of a person.
But it's also minecraft the movie.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
I don't know if I felt like that was pretty
subjective there. People are not allowed to yell at work
at anymore. I mean there's a line, right. I don't
know that I heard anything right there that I feel
like crosses.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
Finally, Martha Stewart not happy with the new Netflix documentary
about her life and it's filmmaker RJ. Cutler, who she
claims refused to change anything after she shared some of
her critiques. So she calls this Netflix series lazy and
not the story that makes me me that I try

(12:36):
not to publicly talk about things that I don't like.
It's not good business. But I was very put off
and I can talk a little bit badly about that.
She was joined on a panel and said it was
so much about my stupid trial, which was so unfair.
I did other things as well, and as a documentarian,
I think it was super lazy. She also took issue

(12:58):
with the level of collaboration she expected. She says she
had what was called the collaboration contract. We were going
to be in this together, and then he had the
final edit. So when I expressed some things I was
pleased with and wasn't pleased with, he just said it's great,
not changing anything. She is not back in this whatsoever
and is extremely disappointed with Netflix.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
I just want to know one thing that will tell
me everything I need to know. Did you interview Snoop Dogg?
Because if you didn't interview Snoop about Martha, you didn't
get to know Martha at.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Any king this opportunity all of your celeb Scoop at
West Michigan Star.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
Dot com, good morning to you and thanks for sharing
this Tuesday with us. Is Smack and Schmitty And yeah,
they seem way over the.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Top to me.

Speaker 3 (13:37):
No, I think this is really perfect. And I came
across the sun TikTok, and I thought, as weird as
it's going to initially sound, I think a lot of
parents are going to think, but it solves the problem
and I think it's actually a really solid idea. So
Vanity Rodriguez is her name. She lives in Texas, and
her son came home from school with something very interesting

(14:00):
that she'd never seen before.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
A lot of times when our kids want to play
with other kids in class, we don't have their information,
because at least in my school, they don't give out
like kids personal info or like their parents' info for kids.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Like to connect in class.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
So I was expecting a birthday invit and then he
pulls out a little playdate business card. So it says
play dates, text to meet up, It has mom and
dad's number, and then it has like a little Rodblocks
user name. I think this is the cutest thing, and
I just had to share.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
Little kid business cards. And I'm looking through the comments
on TikTok and I see all of these parents, to
be fair, mostly moms that are like, oh my gosh,
our school does this. I have these for my kid.
It has made life so much easier, because when you
think about it, how do you make playdates anymore?

Speaker 2 (14:47):
The old school way where my son comes home and goes, hey,
I would like to have sell and sell over. Can
you send his mom? And no, it's the same thing.
It's just it's without the boos.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
Do with that though, I don't have the personal info
for parents and my kids class.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
You send your personal info, so you say, Hi, Connor,
would like to have so and so come over for
a playdate. Here's my number, like on a shite of paper.

Speaker 3 (15:08):
Yeah, like a business card.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
I know, but nowhere near sterill or boozie or weird.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
I think it's so great. I've had so many instances
where Will's like, Oh, I would love so and so
to come over, or oh my gosh, I've been playing
on the playground a lot with this person. I don't
know how to track down their parents. I don't even
have a last name. I had two instances at summer
camp this year where another kid came up and he's like,

(15:34):
I really want Will to come over and play. His
parents aren't around. I don't even know his name. If
you could just hand someone a little business card that's like, hey,
this is my name, here's my cell, here's an email,
it fixes all of it and I can say great,
now it's not weird. And I didn't like write a
sketchy number on your kid's notebook and put it in

(15:56):
their backpack, like I'm gonna wrap them or something thing.
I think it's a great idea. I don't think it's
strange at all. I wish I wish there was a
way to do this more often, that we could just
and then you can meet parents too, because I'm out
here trying to meet more mom friends. Oh my gosh,
give me your kid's business card. This is great. They
can come over. I'll make us some fun drinks and
we'll have a day.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
I feel like this is the next step of the
over zealous mom who is just over the top about everything. Oh,
you have a sweet business card that your child walks
around with while I'm here slaving away with a piece
sketchy piece of paper, as I believe you called it,
and this separate.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
I can give you the Etsy shop right now. You
can get the business cards for like a buck.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
I'd lose them, just like I lose my actual business.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
Takes one six, four five eight, one oh five seven.
What do you think? Am I weird? Robin called me weird,
But as a mom to a first grader and preschooler,
I think just simple little business cards to like send
home with your kid, to like start play dates is
actually a brilliant idea, and I can't believe we haven't
thought of it sooner.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Honestly, I can't get Alec Baldwin and boss Baby out
of my head just whipping out a business card left
and right like that's that's why I imagine it works.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
So salty, I'll be honest.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
I do my best to not like proke and prod
and try and find out what some of these things
are gonna be beforehand, because I like to be surprised.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
I did that in a million years.

Speaker 2 (17:21):
Thank you were gonna say you were salty about irrigation
this morning? What is what is going on with you?
What is happening that's making.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Us look trashy?

Speaker 5 (17:28):
Man?

Speaker 3 (17:28):
I don't know what did I I guess we should
have done our homework before we move to our new house.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Peace bosh.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Everybody, everybody in our call to sac has what I
can only describe as the top of the line irrigation
sprinkler fertilizing something system. And everyone's lawn is like this
lush green golf course. Yeah, and you know that we
are in the middle. I believe I read this morning

(17:56):
from storm Teammate, the second longest heat wave in recorded history.
Here we have just had these eighty plus tempts, no rain,
no real moisture, And I'm sitting over here with the
most brown, crackly grass, and you pull into our circle
and Chris is always like, oh my lord, we look terrible.

(18:19):
Now I'm hoping that by the time September ends, it
just looks like we did it on purpose for Halloween, right,
because everything looks dead and awful. And I leave for
work in the morning and I hear everybody's like, and
it's like, at this point, we're so dead you can't
even use regular sprinklers to bring it back. And it's
everyone in the neighborhood is so classy. But also I'm

(18:40):
so cheap. I'm like, I can't put underground sprinkling in.
So I'm just sitting out there with a hose, hoping
that I can fix patches of it, which will look
even worse. And honestly, I just wish God would make
it rain so I wouldn't have to look.

Speaker 7 (18:52):
At my bills.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Really, so sulky.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
It's weird how social pressure changes, isn't that. I Mean,
one day you're wondering whether or not you got the
cool shoes on, and the next day, you're wondering if
your grass is great enough for your neighborhood.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Suburbia's breaking me, dude.

Speaker 5 (19:09):
Movies, music, and all the gossip in one place.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
It's the celebrities gup on Star one oh five point seven.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Well it might not be super shocking, but after that
explosive on stage fight Friday night in Boston between Jane's
addictions Perry Ferrell and Dave Navarro, the Reunion Tour has
officially been canceled, the band hitting the road for the
first time in fourteen years, making a brief statement on
social media yesterday saying the band made the difficult decision

(19:41):
to take some time away as a group. As such,
they will be canceling the remainder of the tour. It's interesting, though,
Dave made his own blunter statement, calling out Perry's continuing
pattern of behavior and mental health difficulties, claiming these issues
forced the band to discontinue the US tour. As for Perry,

(20:03):
shortly after this, he put out a statement of his
own on social seeing, this weekend has been incredibly difficult,
and after having the time and space to reflect, it
is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially
Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions. Unfortunately,
my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take
full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation. Unfortunately,

(20:27):
they were supposed to play in Detroit at Meadowbrook on
Friday night that has been canceled. If you grabbed those tickets,
you can go to point of purchase to get a
full refund.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Yeah. Unfortunately, not the first time that Perry has caused
some issues out of Jane's Addiction tour with a lot
of canceled shows, but a real big ques this.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Is done done for good, I hope not, because man,
it feels like the older you get, the less you
want to have to deal with this, and they're just
never going to go out on tour again. Diddy has
been arrested and taken into federal custody in New York.
This breaking scoop came down overnight last night. Sources say
the Homeland Security moved in on a Midtown hotel late

(21:03):
last night where Ditty was staying and arrested him. Unconfirmed
reports are that the Feds are now conducting a search
of his hotel room. I just checked it is being
reported he is still in custody, taken to the FBI
Field Office in Manhattan, clearly in connection with the ongoing
criminal investigation into alleged sex trafficking and other offenses that

(21:23):
led to those search warrants being served in Beverly Hills
and Miami. If you didn't know a grand jury, he
has been listening to testimony from various accusers over the
last few months, and at least federal authorities are very
confident about this. A law enforcement source said Ditty's arrest
was actually scheduled for today, but something happened that caused
the Feds to move in a day earlier. Seemed very

(21:45):
surprising to Ditty. Just a couple hours before this, he
was strolling around New York City with his son King.
He was signing autographs, taking pictures with fans. US attorney
Damian Williams says federal agents took him in based on
a sealed indictment file by the Southern District.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Of New York. It would be interesting to see when
they unseal that indictment, which they say they're going to
do later on this morning, and whether or not he
even is offered bail and how long that process all takes, Minnie.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Finally, Brittany Mahomes is quote unquote questioning her support for
former President Donald Trump after lashing out at her bestie
Taylor Swift on Sunday, less than a week after Taylor
endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and of course, former President
Trump posted that I hate Taylor Swift on truth social

(22:31):
These line of attacks have disturbed Mahomes. It deeply bothered
Brittany because Taylor is like a sister to her and
she's done absolutely nothing wrong, and insider talking to The
Daily Mail added it shook her to the core. Apparently
she is just not so certain that this is the
person she believes should be leading the country. Of course,

(22:52):
she has not gone public about any of this yet,
and I've not seen any of her social media change.
She's still been liking certain posts and his I was
backing a lot of those issues.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
So we'll see, yeah that and I feel like her
hubby there, Patrick Mahomes was, probably can we just not
maybe be polarized one direction or the other. Let's come
back to the middle of in his press.

Speaker 3 (23:12):
Conference where it's like, no, not even talking anything politics,
all of your celeb scoop at West Michigan Star dot Com.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
Okay, okay, I'll stop saying emo and emotional for these guys, because,
let's be honest, they were one of the formative bands.
I feel like the people who were there in the
early two.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Thousand Smith Nostalgic Dashboard Confessionals coming to West Michigan. If
you don't have plans tomorrow night, you want to head out,
g I'll see live at twenty Monroe. We have got
your chance aty four packet tickets right now. With Battle
of the Sexes, one hundred women surveyed what would you
do if your partner gave you an ugly necklace?

Speaker 2 (23:47):
You know, as a husband who is often worried that
I'm just getting the I love it. Yeah, out of
you know, sheer, just gratefulness that I got, you know,
you got anything at all? Polite being polite exactly. Yeah,
I really want to know what women answer question ash Mantie.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Honestly, I think it comes down to will your partner
even know or recognize that piece of jewelry? Ever? Again,
that's so fair because like it's okay, I would take
it to a pawn shop and they would never have
a clue.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
Give me three years. I'll forgot that. I'll forget that.

Speaker 3 (24:16):
I even got it for you, like a haircut. They
have absolutely no idea. By the next day, Dagger to
the Heart tikes one six, four, five, eight, one oh
five seven. One hundred women surveyed what would you do
if your partner gave you an ugly necklace? Collar? Seven?
First chance at the number one answer, and we're sending
in a dashboard confessional with Star Win O five point seven.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
Good morning Star. Who's this? Hey it Brett, Brett.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Let's get you tickets for dashboard Confessional. Did you have
opportunities in your life to scream out the lyrics to
what is it?

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Screaming infidelities?

Speaker 2 (24:49):
I don't know if I can answer that I haven't
had coffee yet today? Fair enough, Brett, Well, let's hope
we can get you these four tickets for Dashboard Confessional
tomorrow nights.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
You gotta tell me.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
When one hundred women were asked what you do if
your partner gave you a necklace.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
That you thought was ugly? What do you think? Their
top answer was, Brett, my daughter's.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Only five, but he says, they'll ask for a new necklace.
Ask for a new necklace. In order to do so,
you would return it. And so, what's your daughter's name?
Avianna's five years old and already just tapped into what
it's like to be a woman who's receiving gifts you
don't actually like. Return it and give it back, get

(25:28):
a new one because the top.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Answer Congratulations, Brett. Yeah, you're going to Dashboard Confessional tomorrow night.
Bring some friends with you too.

Speaker 2 (25:36):
I got four tickets for you, Brett, But really you
should be thinking, ah Vianna. I think she deserves some
ice cream or something. Yeah, well I get that fair enough. Congratulations.
We'll have one more chance for you to be there
tomorrow night. ZLC Live at twenty mine Row for Dashboard
Confessional tomorrow, same time, eight fifteen. Battle of the Sexes
here on Star Schmitty and I still haven't fully decided, Schmitty,

(26:03):
what I want to be when I grow up.

Speaker 3 (26:04):
No, you shouldn't.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
No, I mean, at some point I will grow up.
I'll have to have a joby job then. But I
know that for a long time there was a job
that I thought would have been the coolest. I love heights,
and when I was a I could have been more
than like nine to eleven age.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
I had a.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Teacher who told us that there was a job to
walk up the mackinaw Bridge, Yeah, changing all of the
lights that was up there and doing you know, small
repairs and things like that, and this job paid one
hundred thousand dollars a year.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
One of Chris's family members was friends with the dude
that had that job.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
So I thought, man, that's the coolest, because how often
did the light bulbs need to be crazy stories? Oh,
it's insane to me, Like you're this special person. It's
like being in control of a lighthouse, Like you just
have this incredibly unique, an amazing job. And for years
I thought, man, the person who has that job has

(27:02):
it made in the shade. And this is like one
hundred thousand dollars in nineteen ninety bucks, So I mean,
this is this is ridiculously well paying job, and you know,
you move on in life and forget about things until
yesterday when I saw this, schmitty, The mackinaw Bridge is
hiring for that position. Sweet, it is super cool, schmitty,
But listen to the job description. Here, perform maintenance repairs.
Follow all safety regulations over water above three hundred feet

(27:25):
sand blasting, painting, washing, greasing, oiling, bolting, kulking, forming, cement work,
and inspections of the mackinaw Bridge Authority using various tools
equipment materials. I mean, it's nuts. You are basically like
a full blown engineer over here doing all of this stuff.
And then it says if you want the top of
the macinaw Bridge to be your office, paying twenty dollars

(27:46):
and forty cents to thirty one dollars and eight cents
per hour, I'm sorry. If you work forty hours a week,
the top end is sixty grand, the low end is
forty grand. Schmidty, how could you expect that job?

Speaker 3 (27:58):
That what I was looking for. I was kind of
hoping they'd be like, this is a part time job,
because then I'm like, no, it's a little.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
Bit of sis.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
How is this person not making one hundred dollars an
hour minimum? You are on one of the world's longest
suspension bridges, three hundred plus feet up in the air.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
Sand blasting, Like, what are we doing here?

Speaker 7 (28:18):
How?

Speaker 3 (28:18):
I can ask that by saying state job?

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Well, your dad worked for the state forever, right, That's
what I saw on this is a whole bunch of
people writing, well, if you work for the state, there's
only so many classifications that fit inside of the pay rate.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
But my dad worked for the state in the eighties
and bustling nineties a ton of money.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
What would you have to be paid to do a
job like this? Shmitty? I just want to know what's
your hourly rate? You think that job?

Speaker 3 (28:42):
I'll take that work if I can work eight am
to eleven am, that's it, Monday through Friday.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
Oh, you're even gonna do five days a week, We'll
give you.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Five days a week. I'll give you about fourteen to
twenty hours a week for that kind of pay. Give
me a break, and I'm going to see who made
my harness. I see exactly who made my harness.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
It was Boeing, Boeing dead heartness almighty. All right, what
would you have to be paid to do this job?
Go check out the description and tell us what you think.
At West Visit, a good.

Speaker 5 (29:10):
Star sometime does not get a good feeling.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
And you're trying to get your day off to a
great start. So you just got to hang right here,
always looking a lift up, feeling good right now and
starling a fine points yeven, it's Mack and Schmiddy.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Well, this has got to be a really proud parenting
moment for the Cordova parents. They live in Oxford, Massachusetts,
and their sixteen year old son, Dylan, is really cruising
toward a successful future in a brand new jeep he
raised money for entirely on his own. Dylan tells Spectrum
News it all began in twenty twenty, during the pandemic.
He said, you know, you're just sitting home playing Fortnite,

(29:47):
and I really wanted a jeep. I saw a lot
of people driving a jeep. Seems super fun. My dad
came from Guatemala and he started working really young, so
I wanted to follow in his footsteps. But the job
market for middle schoolers is pretty limited, so Dylan started
mowing lawns. As word began to spread of his great work,
Dylan found himself mowing lawns anytime he wasn't in school.

(30:08):
There wasn't snow on the ground at home every single day,
waking up early in the morning, coming home around seven
ish after doing it after school. But it paid off
huge because four years later, sixteen year old Dylan walked
into a jeep dealership with sixty five thousand dollars in cash.
Shood Yeah, moment he got his new ride and got
behind that wheel, it was all worth it. When I

(30:30):
say that, proud parenting moment. Samuel and Mandy understand that
they've definitely set an example.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
We never miss a day of work, never call out sick.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
It's very important. So we feel it's important to pass
that on to them and hopefully they'll pass that on
to their children.

Speaker 7 (30:44):
There's not a lot of people out there working, and
I just want people to get motivated and start working,
saving up for things that they want, because nothing in
life comes handed.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
You got to work for it.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
That work has inspired Dylan's little sister, Caty, who is
now starting to save up as well. She's got her
own push mower and he owned financial dreams.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Something tells me it's a horse.

Speaker 3 (31:06):
You know, sixty dollars, there's a whole lot you.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
Could get, seesu peede sixty five grand. That's incredible, all right, Sminty.
As you may imagine, Loriel Paris is a big part
of my moisturizing routine every day. You expect that from me, right,
But still, I didn't know about this. Loyel Paris actually
searches the nation every year for ten women who go
above and beyond for their own communities and name them

(31:30):
as Women of Worth.

Speaker 4 (31:32):
Well. This year, Lisa Hovey of Holland has.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
Been named one of those women for what she has
done to help foster kids right here in Michigan. You see,
she's a foster mom herself, and she started a nonprofit
nine years ago called Hope Packages that makes foster kids
feel better when they first enter that scene, which could
be a very very difficult time. As she talks to
Channel thirteen on your side, and let's know that sometimes

(31:58):
they come with big basically just about nothing.

Speaker 8 (32:02):
Sometimes the kids have to lead pretty quickly, or maybe
they can't even return home, maybe they've been interviewed somewhere.
So again, just to provide these kids with something new
and it's just theres and often if they don't have
maybe their backpack for school the next day, it's really
nice to have those things in a backpack that they
can utilize.

Speaker 2 (32:21):
Yeah, it makes a big difference during those scary situations
when you're first entering that foster care system. So she's
been putting together these bags that are filled with of
course toiletries everything else, but also blankets and stuffed animals, pajamas,
things like that that can comfort the kids. Well, because
of Loriel Paris's recognition, Schmitty, she's got twenty five thousand.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Dollars for her nonprofits.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
This is really cool, she says, it's going to make
a big difference.

Speaker 8 (32:48):
Well, that's just another great way to ensure that we
can continue to take care of, you know, the ten
to eleven thousand kids that are in Michigan foster care
by providing first night bags. So that's a huge relief.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Shout out to Lisa Hovey of Holland and her nonprofit
Hope Packages. You want to learn more, maybe donate yourself,
you can go to hopepkgs dot org. Ill also throw
that up on the website at West Michigan Star. All Right,
Feeling good comes at you a couple times a day.
I always want to tell you about people doing great things,
especially when they're right here in our community, like that story.
Let's do it again tomorrow at six forty five and

(33:20):
nine twenty here on Star Winar five point seven. Mack
and Schmidty in the morning weekday starting at six am
on Star one oh five point seven
