(00:00):
About. He is host of onTarget. He's also owner of LAPD Firearms
and Range on Bethel Road. EricDelbert joining us now, Eric, welcome
again to the Bark Blazer Show. How are you, sir? I am
great. How are you guys?Man good on this Friday. Happy Father's
Day to you Father's Day weekend.Yes you guys as well. Thank you,
thank you very much. Thank you. Hey. First of all,

(00:22):
let me ask you because we havewe have a lot to get to here,
but I wanted to ask you aboutOperation Unity. That is actually pretty
cool that you were a part of. I believe you told me it was
yesterday. Yeah, you know what, We were fortunate and this is a
really neat program out there in thecommunity put on by Franklin County Sheriff.

(00:44):
And it takes an area that is, you know, sometimes referred to as
a higher crime area in a pool'sresources at pools agencies from all over Franklin
County and you go and you youkind of blitz the area for the day
and really make an impact on crime. And the really neat thing about it
is you would think if you listento the media that some of these neighborhoods

(01:07):
they don't want the police in there. But it's not like that at all.
So much yesterday and talking to thecitizens, we're just happy to see
so much law enforcement activity in thoseareas and they want it, and it
was it was really a good dayfor uce well, so you was it
was helpful in getting I'm trying tounderstand exactly. So it just helps basically

(01:32):
get the crime off the street. It is. It's really a blitzed the
area. I'm looking at the statsthey just released. There were one hundred
and twenty three traffic stops made, seventy citations, thirteen felony arrests, five
firearms that were confiscated, There wascocaine, fitanel, meth, amhetamine,

(01:53):
stolen vehicles recovered. I mean,it really is, you know, all
all forces on deck for thateriod oftime in a show of force in those
areas to put the bad guys onnotice that. Look, we're serious about
this, and the population of thoseareas, the citizens they're for it.
I mean, we had them comingup to us all day long thanking us

(02:14):
for being out there. Yeah, the people who live in that area.
Maybe it is uh, you know, economically, it's a little not as
good as some other areas of thecity and surrounding areas. But look,
those people want to live in theywant to live in peace, they want
their kids to be safe. Imean, it's no different with regard to
that what the citizens want. I'mso happy to hear that people were positive

(02:36):
towards you guys and not coming upgoing get the hell out of here.
Nobody wants your you know what Imean. Like you, I don't know
if you heard any of that, but I hope you hopefully you didn't.
But people want they want safety too, no matter what economic status you are.
We personally had no negative interactions atall. You figure ninety nine percent
of these people are good people. You know, they're maybe struggling with something

(02:57):
here or there or not living youknow, in in you know, certain
means. But they wanted us thereand it was really good. It was
It was a good positive show offorce, got some bad guys off the
street, recovered some guns, andit was a good day. Hey let
me ask you too, when whenyou are taking down somebody who they they've
got to know, especially if it'ssomething really really serious. If you're taking

(03:21):
those people down and they know,oh boy, I'm in I'm in big
trouble and they would know also ifit's their second or third or fifth offense
or what have you. Was therelike, was it like pretty drama filled
or does everybody pretty much just kindof give up like you got me?
Kind of? It is a busyday, It is a busy twelve hours.

(03:44):
Fascinating there is something constantly going onon the radio traffic. Okay,
all right, diplomatic answer, butI understand you can't get too specific.
I wanted to ask fascinating though.I don't know if you saw, but
you yesterday an officer from CPD wasfired and justifiably, I think if you

(04:04):
look at the body cam video. But I mean, you know this this
narrative that cops don't ever hold anythemselves accountable for anything that they you know,
they turned a blind eye and highbehind the blue wall of silence.
I just want to applaud CPD Ericfor being proactive and you know this officer's

(04:27):
actions crossed the line. And youknow Chief Bryant was open and forth right
and showed the bodycam video and allof that. So I think that you
know this narrative that no, nopolice can get away with anything and do
whatever they want. That's not truebecause there are there are too many good
people, men and women who arein command who you have to be responsible

(04:50):
for. So I just wanted toI just wanted to applaud CPD for their
quick actions. And really, youknow, eric, as an officer,
it's like when you see bad officersdoing bad things, it's like, oh
man, you're this is why wecan't make inroads in certain communities. You
know, like it's got to bemore frustrating, I think for the fellow

(05:11):
officers than it is the guy whogot fired. Absolutely, it's a right.
And I don't know any specifics aboutthis case. I haven't had a
chance to look at it, butit's like anything else that they reflect on
all of us, and for everytraffic stop you make, for every interaction
you have with the general public, that's what they're thinking. And so you
don't want people, you know, giving everyone a bad perception of the ninety

(05:33):
nine percent of the good officers thatare out there, so you no,
I applaud them. I haven't lookedat it in detail, but that is,
you know, that's good. Theother thing too about that is before
anybody as an officer we're all human, right, I mean, we're all
human before any of anybody puts onthe badge. And unfortunately, being human

(05:55):
means you have you know, youmake mistakes, you're flawed if you will.
And so well, I don't evenI didn't even actually see the video,
the video that you're talking about,Josh, and I saw the headline
that he had been let go.But I'm with you, Eric, I
hadn't even I haven't even seen it. I don't even know exactly what happened
in that situation. But sounds likethey ruled quickly. They were getting ahead

(06:18):
of something that sounds like it couldbe end up still being bad, I
suppose, But yeah, we'll seeas time goes on. So you have
an interview with Willis Blackshear coming up. He proposed the mass Casualty gun Bill,
and so so yeah, this firstof all, the mass Casualty gun

(06:39):
Bill, what is it? Andthen Willis Blackshear and so on. You
can expound on all that. Sure, So we picked up on our probably
about a month ago. Now it'sactually House Bill four thirty three references a
mass casualty weaping weapon classification. Nowthat this gentleman wanted to propose. So
we read it and you know, kind of pushed to the side, like

(07:00):
many of these that just really don'tmake a whole lot of sense, And
it actually got some national attention becauseit's kind of out there. So we
do our due diligence like we dofor the radio show, and we reached
out to his office and invited himto come on and explain the bill.
Surprisingly, he agreed to it,and so tomorrow on the show, Representative

(07:24):
Blackcher will be calling in and we'regoing to have a discussion about his House
Bill for thirty three, which andI should probably reach you the definition because
it all comes down to this. The definition in the bill, it says
it means any semi automatic firearm. So that's probably eighty ninety percent of what's
in our store that has the abilityto take a magazine of thirty one rounds

(07:49):
or more, which pretty much outlawseverything we have. So it just,
you know, it's one of thesethings that aren't really stop out. I
don't know if that was the intent, but we're sure going to ask him
tomorrow. Yeah, the language isreally vague in the House Bill four thirty
three. Based on what I waslooking at as well. But that's where

(08:11):
they get you. They leave itvague like that, so it can kind
of encapsulate all of the stuff. That's it's just nonsense at the end of
the day. That's what it is. It's just a bunch of nonsense.
And I'm hoping that it doesn't itdoesn't ever get you know, any traction
whatsoever, and it won't. AndI you know, as much as we

(08:31):
are going to obviously disagree with probablymuch of what he's going to say tomorrow,
I do you know, I dogive him credit for agreeing to come
on the show and talk about it. I mean that, you know,
we we all agree that we wantto keep guns out of the hands of
back guys. We want to youknow, put the criminals behind bars,
and you know, we need tohave those discussions. And this, you

(08:52):
know, isn't one of those thingsthat's going to affect change, but maybe
this for some discussion, and hesays, what do you guys think,
and we do something collectively that canaffect change. That's that's great host of
on target. Owner of LAPD Firearmsand Range, Eric Delbert's joining us now
so Supreme Court striking down the banon bump stocks, and they had to

(09:16):
make sure in the in the headlinethat it's Trump era ban on bunks bump
stocks. They had to make sure, and then that's in the headline,
and then and look, I knowit's factual. Okay, fine, but
then you look at the that's theheadline, then you start reading it.
Yet they do it again in thea couple of different times in the article.
They make sure that you see that. So what's your take on this?

(09:39):
Are you surprised? I'm not surprisedbecause they kind of showed their hand
a little bit in the week leadingup. It is a very important ruling,
and it's not because all these firearmsenthusiasts were going to, you know,
ready to go to the map forthe bump stock. That wasn't it
at all. It really was allabout the ATF the government overstepping their constitutional

(10:01):
boundaries and that's what it is.And those those same boundaries that they've overstepped
in this case are what we're seeingin the arm braced legislation or the rulings
and stuff like that. So ithas implication implications far beyond a bump stock,
which is more or less a novelty. But it is its setting us

(10:22):
on the right path for some ofthese other things that are going to come
up. What exactly is a bumpstock? Yeah, so for years,
you could shoot a firearm, asemi automatic firearm, and if you if
you put your thumb through it andyou can, you know, hook your
thumb on your your belt buckle orsomething, you could get that firearm to
fire multiple rounds kind of easily.I mean, it's it's something that doesn't

(10:48):
happen real real, super easy. But all it does is that resets the
trigger with the recoil of the gun, So the gun recoils, the resets
that take trigger quickly, so itallows another round to go out. This
stock enhanced that, it allowed itto happen easier. It was nothing that
was ever widely sought after. Again, more of a novelty, something you

(11:11):
really wouldn't put on their defensive gun. But it was just again, it
came down to them overstepping the ruling, and that that's the post of this
today. That's this is kind ofinteresting because there were about five hundred and
twenty thousand bump stocks in circulation whenthe band went into effect in twenty nineteen,
and people had to surrender or destroythem. That was really what I

(11:33):
was going to ask. I'm like, so now if you own one,
are you your illegal? You can't, you shouldn't have one. Yeah,
back then it was I mean backthen, overnight, I think it made
you a felon. We had peopledropping them off at the store to be
destroyed. But it was literally andit's just like the arm braces. It
was one of those rulings that overnightyou became a criminal. And if you

(11:54):
weren't, you know, following thefirearms news, you would never know.
You could you open your local gunrange and be a felon totally unbeknownst to
you. You bought it when itwas perfectly legal, and now you're a
criminal. Well yeah, and thatwas that was one of the few poor
decisions President Trump ever made. Andit was because if people will remember,

(12:16):
it came in light of if you'reOctober of twenty seventeen, the massacre at
the Country concert in Las Vegas, and they're saying, you know, well
he was using a bump stock. But that I think I think that was
due to public pressure and it wasjust like Okay, I guess we'll we'll
do this. But yeah, thatthat was one of the few losses for

(12:37):
President Trump. I just would saythat is a Second Amendment advocate, right,
and if they want to outlaw, let it go through Congress. That
yeah, exactly, thank you.Yeah, not executive order, no,
yep. Yeah. Host of vonTarget, owner of LAPD Firearms and Range
on Bethel Road, Eric Delbert, and tomorrow at noon you can hear Eric,
and like you said, Representative blackChear is going to be on.

(12:58):
There might be some fireworks tomorrow aright, Eric, just a little bit
very good. Thanks for joining usagain. Happy
