Speaker 1 (00:00):
Dashy and the jam In Morning shot with DJ fourn
It's Sad, Big Morning. Cousin's number one for hip hop
damn in ninety four or five.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
Hi, everybody, good morning.

Speaker 3 (00:14):
So over the weekend it was I think it was
Saturday morning. Everybody was still sleep in the house, but
Daisy and I and Daisy sitting on my lap and
I'm going through my phones on and I'm looking at Instagram,
and you know, Faurn and I have talked about just
like seeing some of these aerial shots, and I just
had this moment of, you know, looking at Daisy and

(00:34):
thinking to myself, like if this happened to me where
I'm at. You know, I've kind of just like spoken
about the thick of it, how would it be to
be a mom in California. And obviously people that don't
have kids are affected too. Let's I don't let's not
get you know that twisted. But you know, when you
have a baby, baby, there are just things that you

(00:56):
need to get through the day. You know, little things
like I thought to myself, if your house burned down
and you're a mom, a breastfeeding mom, and you had
all that supply in the freezer, you worked your asshole.
It's like random things that I'm thinking about, you know,
and reaching out to friends in California. And I just
had this moment where I thought to myself, I'm going
to post and if anybody knows of a family that

(01:17):
follows me that has a baby around the same age
that needs stuff, let me know. I have plenty of things, yeah,
extra things that I can send. I have bins of
clothes that I usually donate in Marshfield that could go
to California. So I posted about it, and a couple
people immediately responded to me, and that's how I got
Amy Adams information. If I send Amy an email immediately

(01:40):
and got a response immediately, Amy, you know, I was
just kind of explaining my situation and where I'm at
as a mom. I have a three year old and
a six month old, and I you know, I don't
think there are any words to express just how we
we see what's happening with you guys. I know, you know,
when you kind of wrote me back, You're like, the

(02:00):
news isn't even showing the magnitude, just the magnitude of
what you guys are going through. And you know, again,
I can't imagine Amy you. You're an interior designer in Malibu.
You stage homes, and I don't know how you decided
that you were going to be spearheading this.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
You're amazing for doing it.

Speaker 3 (02:24):
But you know your name was sent to me multiple times,
and so I kind of wrote you back and I
was like, let's get you on air. Maybe other people
will want to help to for anybody listening, how did
you become, you know, spearhead this to kind of take
these donations and help people out.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
I don't know what else to do. I don't know
how else to serve the people that I love and
that I've worked with and lived with for my entire life.
I needed something to be able to help in an
immediate meat situation.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
I can give them furniture when they need houses, but
that's not what they needed right now. And I have
the resources and they made the calls.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah. You know, when we had first put you on hold,
you were emotional. When Scientia had asked you, you know,
are you affected me?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
Like did you lose a home? Did some of your
friends lose a home?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
And you said, you know of at least eight people
in your life just directly connected to you that have
nothing right now.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Yeah, they have absolutely nothing. They don't even know how
to ask for anything. Because these are people who have
helped everybody their entire life and they're now at a
point where they have to accept and ask for help
and it's the hardest thing they've ever done. Yeah. Now,

(03:48):
people who've come in, they don't even know what to say.
They walk in the door, their faces are like zombies,
and you really have to tell them what it is
that they need at this point.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Again, I'm not gonna even for a second say that
we can imagine what it feels like. You know, we
watch the news and we see social media posts, but
to actually live it and see it every day, that's
completely different. You know. Obviously my immediate thought was like, oh,
I have all these baby clothes, Like, let me send
these baby clothes.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
But you were kind of telling us clothes are not
really what you guys need.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
What do you need?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Like, like, what things can we be sending that that
would be of the utmost important.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
Okay, So donations need to come in phases. The first
phase are the essentials, like the hygiene items that everybody needs.
Imagine you have run to a hotel room with three
days worth of things and that's all you have in
your life. What you need then are hygiene items, underwear bras.

(04:56):
We're still accepting brand new of those.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
The next phase, Oh, let me just put this out there.
We need self filtering water bottles. We need in ninety
five masks. If people have new packages of those left
from COVID, please pack those and send those nice. The

(05:21):
air here is horrible and we cannot drink the water.
So we have a lot of water donations, but better
for everybody would be self filtering water bottles. Anyhow. Going
into the second phase would be large size hygiene towels, bedding,

(05:42):
small housewares because our people will finally be getting into
apartments in the next two to three weeks and we'll
need to help with that. Ongoing would be baby items
like diapers, wipes, formula, and pet care items.

Speaker 2 (06:01):
Okay, So what you're.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
We're trying to do is eliminate the thinking part that
we can, because if you've lost your home, you don't
want to think, and these are the things we can
help them with.

Speaker 3 (06:17):
Obviously, I think clothes is I understand that you are
you guys getting too much?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Is that why? Because you know everyone's like, oh, I want.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
To say cloth, the used clothes is what keeps coming in.
And what you guys are probably seeing on the news
are the Rose Bowl and Santa Anita Race Track, where
piles of clothing are and people are digging through them.
So at this time, just California in general has received

(06:43):
an influx of used clothing. Okay, so we can hold
on that. Baby and Toddler is kind of always whether
it's used or not usable.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Okay, Which and Toddler? Send it Baby and Toddler. That's
what I have a ton of. So I will send that.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
And then I know a couple people had written back
to me saying same thing, Ash, I have kids around
your age, So if the clothing is baby toddler, send it.
Other than that, Son, I know you wrote some stuff down,
but let's just run through that list again. And ninety
five masks.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
The high products of self alter and water, bottles of
towels and bedding, the ongoing soft of the baby products
in the wipes, the diapers. Here's what we're gonna do.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
We have We're definitely going to speak to the woman
that runs our building, just to make it easier for
people that listen to the show. If you guys have
any of the stuff that I've mentioned, we're going to
try to set it up so you can just drop
it off here and we'll mail it to Amy. But
in the meantime, if you have that stuff and you're
able to like shoot over to the post office and
get it out as fast as you can. The address

(07:51):
Amy where you're at is two eight nine one four.
I will post this on Instagram two eight nine one
four Roadside Drive that's in Agra Hills, Unit two eight
eight eight two. Again, we're going to post that on
our Instagram at Ashley in the AMS. You guys can
find it there. I'll also post it on my personal Amy.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Again.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Thank you so much for doing what you're doing. We'll
try to get out as much as we possibly can.
Much love from Boston to you guys, and you know
we'll try to help in any way that we possibly can.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Thank you so much. Thank you everybody.
