Genoeg bloed!
Adamo, bekend van tijdloze klassiekers als 'Tombe la Neige' en 'Vous permettez, Monsieur', maakte muziek die generaties wist te raken. Een van zijn meest indringende nummers is 'Inch Allah', dat hij schreef na een bezoek aan Israël in 1967. In het lied verwijst Adamo naar de zes miljoen slachtoffers van de Shoah. Het nummer werd destijds door Israëlische soldaten omarmd als strijdlied – een gevolg dat hem echter persona non grata maakte in de Arabische wereld.
Naar aanleiding van de historische handdruk tussen de Israëlische premier Yitzhak Rabin en de Palestijnse leider Yasser Arafat herschreef Adamo in 1993 zijn Inch Allah. In de nieuwe versie, benoemt hij het leed aan beide kanten van het conflict:
“Assez de sang! Genoeg bloed!”
Het nummer 'Inch Allah' is inmiddels uitgegroeid tot een ware evergreen en keert jaarlijks terug in de Evergreen Top 1000 van NPO Radio 5 — een bewijs dat Adamo’s boodschap en melodieën ook vandaag nog velen raken.mo brengt Paul Boerboom een bijzondere hommage in het radioprogramma FM op 5 van BNNVARA. De uitzending wordt gepresenteerd door Felix Meurders en is te horen op 1 november, Adamo’s verjaardag.
