Marruecos es uno de los socios estratégicos más importantes para España y un actor clave en el Mediterráneo y el norte de África. La cooperación en migración, seguridad y economía convierte la relación bilateral en una prioridad para la política exterior española.
Pero esta relación también está marcada por tensiones diplomáticas, especialmente por el Sáhara Occidental, la presión migratoria y los intereses estratégicos de Rabat. En los últimos años, Marruecos ha reforzado además su influencia internacional y su peso en las relaciones con Europa y Estados Unidos.
