Speaker 1 (00:00):
You chapped it, so we're playing it and Clintons the podcast.
The next thing we are going to talk about is pity.
I'll just say that we know that we are aware,
but it's Breez's passion and it's something she wants to do.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
Sometimes I'm a petty bit there is You're not even
here to defend themselves either, No, they are.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
There is something that was said on the Breakfast Show
in the last couple of weeks by Vaughan from Flintford
and Haley, the iconic Vaughan Smith, which has subsequently been
turned into what's called a radio promo which they play
that clip a few times, which subsequently means we have
heard it multiple times. We have heard it multiple times.
This is the clip in question, the board with the

(00:45):
top ten times on it. My name is on there.
It was really nice.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
You need to tell you when you're not on the
actual leadership board. No. No, for people that you might know,
maybe off the telly once or twice.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
That's what I think the leader that leader boards should
be called. And I knocked Darlie Williams in the top ten.
That's that pretty good. He wants a helicopter and Herne
Bay I'm like, maybe get back on the top ten.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
So, Bree Thomas l as a fellow person who's been
on the telly once or twice.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Please reveal to us what you'll be doing today.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
I said, if Vaughan Smith knocked Ali Williams off the leaderboard,
I want to try and knock Vaughan Smith off that
same leaderboard, give him a bit of his own medicine,
which I am worried about if I actually have the
ability to do that.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Behind the scenes, Bree has had our producers organize a
closed race track. She's going to the same go kart
track where Vaughan sit his record before they open, so
she can have open track time with one goal and
one goal only, and that's to knock Vaughan off the leaderboard.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I don't care about my time.

Speaker 5 (01:53):
All I care about is getting one millisecond faster than
Vaughan Smith so I can then knock him off that
lead to board.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
That is the only goal. It is the sole goal
of today.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
What if he is eighth and because then you'll only
be knocking him down to ninth.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
See, I already question, I already question my racing abilities whether.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I can do No, that's not the attitude. That's not
the attitude. Okay, if you're going into this but you
believe that you can do it.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
I don't question my commitment, correct.

Speaker 5 (02:28):
I hope that he's ten because I feel like that'll
be the best case scenario, is that I knock him
off and then I go into tenth position.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
The level of pettiness required for you to spend possibly
the whole rest of your day for someone who's been
up since four am for work today, the level of
dedication to pettiness, Honestly, it's it's it's laudable.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
It's actually, admins, thank you. I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
The only thing I think that could make it funnier
would be if you took Ali Williams with you, and
you both knock Vaughan off the leaderboard and Ali Williams
regains his place on the leaderboard.

Speaker 5 (03:03):
If Ali Williams is listening, I would love him to
come down to the go karts iner this morning.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Our shout, it's our shout.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Our shout will cover drinks and hot dogs yep in
the canteen and him and I on the track, just
trying to knock Vaughan Smith as.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
The impress of that. Ali Williams even got on there.
Ali Williams is six foot nine.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
The heavier like, correct me if I'm wrong.

Speaker 5 (03:27):
The heavier you are, the lesser advantage you have.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Yees, slower you go. Yeah, it's not like a loge cart.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
With the heavier you are, the more advantage you have
because you're using gravity because my dad always used to
use it as an excuse when I'd beat him at
the gold karts and he.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Goes, you're a bit lighter than me. Breeze acting cool
about this.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
The second she gets in that car, she is going
to be max the Steppen level competitive.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Okay, you're not going to be able to talk to her.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
No, I'm just going to be laser focused. Do you
you've seen have you seen me in a go cup before?
You've seen me drive in a real car?

Speaker 2 (04:03):
Yes? Remember when we drove the what was it? It
was a new Hiondai.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
Oh yeah, we drove the I thirty in around the
racetrack with the stick honestly, like and not let's forget
we're on the radio.

Speaker 5 (04:15):
Do you think that I can knock Vaughan Smith off
the go kart top ten leaderboard?

Speaker 2 (04:19):
One hundred percent? Okay, one hundred percent. In fact, you've
got confidence. I'll be disappointed if you don't. I feel like.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Such a song and dance about it now that if
you don't, it's going to be embarrassing.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
You leave me.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
You can't leave if we have to cross to you
there in twenty four hours from now and you're still
doing laps of the go kart tracks, So be it.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
How embarrassing If I've come on the radio, I'm gorn.
I'm going to go down and try and knock Vaughan
Smith off the leaderboard.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
And I can't do it, you can do it.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
It'll be one of the biggest disappointments of my life.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
I'm going to give it all. I'm going to give
it my all. That's all I can do, and go
for a Wii first, so you're as light as you can. Merikland.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Look, if you're wondering how the Petty Quest went yesterday,
or if you're wondering what the petty Quest is. Vaughan
Smith talked about on the Breakfast Show multiple times how
he'd beaten Ali Williams at the top ten Go Kart Center.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
He said, this board with the top ten times on it,
my name is on there.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
But he was really nice.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
And I need to tell you when you're not on
the actual leadership board. No, no, for people that you might know,
maybe off the telly once or twice.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
That's what I think the leader boys that leaderboards should
be called. And I knocked Arli Williams out of the
top ten. That's that pretty good. He wants a helicopter
and Herne Bay. I'm like, maybe get back on the
top ten.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Vaughn said, it felt pretty good. I wouldn't feel pretty good.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
So I made it my petty quest yesterday to go
out to game over in Albany and knock him off
the top ten leaderboard.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
We didn't know where he was on the top ten,
because I was like, if he's sixth.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
It's going to be a lot harder and you can't
knock him off. You can just go you could just
go ahead of him, but you could knock him down
to seventh. Yeah, kind of thing. All I wanted to
do was knock him down a pig.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Luckily, when you got there, he was tenth. He was ten,
so just beating his time would have knocked him off
the leaderboard altogether exactly.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
The time to beat was twenty one seconds. Point eight
five zero. I got into the go kart. I got
it done in two laps. Twenty one point five five
nine was my second full lap.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
Yep, and I was pretty happy with that. I could
go home.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
Yeah you're done. You're in tenth place on the leaderboard. Now, yeah,
crazy that you didn't want to. The competitive part of
me would have gone, well, if I can do that
in two laps, can I knock the guy in first
place off as well? Because I've got my who was
in first?

Speaker 2 (06:46):
That's a good question. I can't yes produce a claw.
I know exactly who it was.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
Who was it?

Speaker 2 (06:50):
You'll never beat him? Sheene ben Gersbergen, the real race
card driver. Well, what was the difference between Shane ben
Gizbergen's time in your time? I'm just having a look here.
Twenty one five yep, he did a twenty point three.
Oh no, you're about to do a second almost a
second and a half, which doesn't doesn't seem like a lot.

(07:14):
Who else is on there? Lockey Ferguson from the black Caps.
Who else? Matt Paine? Who's Matt Pain Matte Pain? I
know Tim Payne.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Oh, Scott Dixon's on this leaderboard as well, IndyCar driver.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
He's the news in he's the IndyCar champion.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Oh, Matt Payne is New Zealand racing driver supercars.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
Okay, so he's a supercar driver. Yep. Richie Stanaway is
a supercar driver. You're in good company here. I'm in
pretty good shape. I'm the only woman. Fabian Cookthard is
a supercar driver. That's a supercar driver. It's amazing.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
And then there's a cricketer and Brie I'm stove, so
you know that's that's well achieved.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Anyway, if you're looking to beat me and knock me
off the leaderboard, you can go out to game over Albany.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Right, all your record is if you want to knock
me off.
