Georgia Stewart is filling in for Clint this week and she's come to us with the very obvious realisation that The Teletubbies are called that because of the television on their tummies... we thought it was an obvious one but somehow these callers topped it.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
You tapped it, so we're playing it at b and
Clint's the podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Brian Clint Clint back next week, Georgia from days filling in?
And you learnt something this week as an It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (00:13):
I don't learn much.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
I feel like you're always learning on this show. But
you said to me that you learned something as an
adult about the Tellytubbies.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Yes, I dad a no to the ticks that's come
through nine sex nine and sex is not the fact
that Poe was in fact a guy.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
What Poe was a guy?

Speaker 5 (00:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (00:30):
Wait?

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Were they all guys?

Speaker 7 (00:31):
I thought they were? To La La was that Girlinky?
La La was a girl?

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Tinky Winky was definitely a fella.

Speaker 7 (00:39):
And then Depsy No where have I gone?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Gypsy's one?

Speaker 7 (00:43):
Why do they not sound real anymore?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
See La La Poe? I feel like La La was
the only girl producer Ella.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I can't remember much of the Tellytubbies. I just remember
the sun, the little baby.

Speaker 7 (00:55):
See, I forget about the sun.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Why that's the best thing?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
The little baby's all grown got the head of.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
It's a cute gig.

Speaker 7 (01:03):
That's not cute?

Speaker 3 (01:03):
What are you on?

Speaker 7 (01:04):
But I will say you.

Speaker 6 (01:08):
See, Yeah, there's one girl, Laala.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
I have now obviously Telly Tubby's iconic. We've grown up
with them. We just deciphered all their names, figuring out
whether the guys or girls. Now, what I didn't know
about the Tellytubby's is that the reason they're cooled Telly
Tubbyes is because they have.

Speaker 7 (01:35):
Telly's on their tummies. Now did we all know this?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:41):
Not even you there?

Speaker 2 (01:43):
And that's what do you think the thing on their
heads are they're thentennas?

Speaker 7 (01:47):
Were they just the ears or they have ears?

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I have the ears and then they've got the antenna.

Speaker 7 (01:51):
Listen.

Speaker 4 (01:52):
When I was watching this show, I was just there
for the vacuum cleaner. No, no, just everyone was here
for Nunu.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
I don't think I wasn't there for the vacuum cleaner?
Were you? Well, no, who's nunu?

Speaker 7 (02:05):
It was a weird new who's the vacuum cleaner?

Speaker 3 (02:07):
It was almost as weird as thingy.

Speaker 7 (02:10):
The whole thing is so weird.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Have I've forgotten about the Telly Tubbies? I do not
remember any.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Of you might be a bit young.

Speaker 7 (02:16):
I thank you watch it.

Speaker 1 (02:18):
So there was a vacuum cleaner and what was the
other thing he said nun.

Speaker 7 (02:22):
Was the vacuum cleaner. Ye're right, what did they do
like that? I just did that.

Speaker 2 (02:27):
Vacuum cleaner things? Okay, cleaned up. What was the purpose
of Telly Tubby. Did they go on a venture?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
I can't remember.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
I can't remember, but I can't believe that you didn't
know that's why they were called the Telly Toppy.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
No, honestly, was one of those things that I would
then read and thought that makes sense, But then I
looked into it too much and was like, well, that's
a dumb name because that actually is Tally Tubby, not
Taly Tummy.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Someone said, our home vacuum is called Nunu.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Tabby toast time for Tabby toast time for Well, I
feel like that what they ate there wasn't.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
There helps the little TV and their tummies.

Speaker 7 (03:03):
See.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
This is a weird thing, though, because you feel, at
the age of thirty two, like when you learn things
like this that you watch every single day that you
should have just known there, right.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
It's like, yeah, there's I mean, I'm learning things all
the time where I'm like how, And it always amazes
me when I'm like how did I not know that?
Like something real basic like I never knew. A couple
of years ago, I learned that. You know, when you
wear like a small T shirt and you wear your
pants and you've got like that piece between where your
tummy showing.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Yeah, do you know what that's called with it?

Speaker 7 (03:36):
The crop?

Speaker 5 (03:37):
No?

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Yeah, you wear a crop to crop pants and you.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Know meddrift, med drift, it's midriff.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
I always thought it was.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Mid drift, like you, Yeah, and like a lot of people,
it's midriff.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
That's a mind hurdle.

Speaker 7 (03:53):
Oh, I don't like that.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
Crazy. It'll always be mid drift for me though.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
That's like when I have started dating my husband home
and you'll know this from a farming background. But there's
a type of I guess crop and it's called lucern.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
Lucern as a crop I don't.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Know anyway, I used to call it Lucians because that's
what I thought he was like. I was like, oh,
these all the Lucians look out the field and be like, whoa,
the Lucians are looking good today, and hands like what
did you just say? I was like, the Lucian's like,
there's Lucern, honey.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Loucern, Loucern. I've never even heard of that. Either I'm
learning something again, maybe I should be.

Speaker 7 (04:32):
Maybe I am the teacher, actually.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
The far Georgia.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
We're all learning things as adults. Like producer Ella just
recently learned about the Big Bang.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
Don't bring that up.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
I knew what I knew to shut up breathing.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
He knew of it, yes, and I'm reading up on
it right now.

Speaker 7 (04:48):
But what I was going to say, say, point to
reading up on it.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Yeah, I mean some science shit happened and here we are.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Yeah, that's fascinating to me.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
No, the thing I didn't realize is who's Michael jackson sister?

Speaker 7 (05:01):
Jannet.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Janet Jackson is Michael Jackson's sister.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
She did it a real one day.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
She goes, guys, did you know that Janet Jackson is
Michael Jackson's sister? And we all looked at her and
she wasn't doing a bit, She was being genuinely serious.

Speaker 7 (05:16):
Is close to her.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
She's not known as Michael Jackson's sister. She's got her
own name.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Yeah, but everyone knows that she's Michael Jackson's sister though,
Like it's not like.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
When did you learn this? What fact did you come
across last year? That is wild. I suppose you could
say they not knowing the Tellytubbies because of that as
well too.

Speaker 7 (05:36):
But we do want to know what you've.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
Learned as an adult? What have you learned?

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Like?

Speaker 2 (05:42):
And it could have been a couple of years ago,
could have been recently, but what did you learn where
you were like, how did I not know that?

Speaker 4 (05:48):
And you want to bite your tongue and not telling
anyone that you didn't know it? But you're also like
far right, someone else as dumb as me the z
M podcast network. I found out that the reason these
guys you see, the Tellytubbies are infect called the Tellytubbies

(06:09):
is because well, they had televisions on their tummies, didn't they.
It seems obvious, but I picked it apart by saying
more technic cle it's televisions on their tummies, but they're
called tubbies, so.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
Not quite you know what I'm saying here.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
And then we started talking about if they were boys
or girls, and I thought there was only one, and
then someone and then everyone was like, no, Poe is
a girl according to Google apparently.

Speaker 7 (06:34):
So there's two girls, La, La and po.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
So it's there two girls, two boys.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
Tinky Winky dipsy too, La La poe.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Two girls, two boys. Makes sense.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
So we're asking you what is the thing you've learned
as an adult.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
You've learned it quite late, but you're like, this is
a safe space.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Okay, we have ANAKA. Please tell us what you have
learned as an adult. Feel free if you want to
tell us your age too, when you learned it.

Speaker 8 (07:00):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
I think I think I'm late twenty twenty nine, okay.
And so obviously I've been bowling for a many, many
many I've done bowling many times. And one day I
was just driving past the bowling alley, was my partner
at the time, and I just say, huh, that's why
it's called ten pin bowling, because it's got ten pins.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Yep, you put you put ten and ten together.

Speaker 5 (07:26):
Yeah, because I was called it timton Tim like with
an M, not a.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
Wait, you called it tim pin bowling. Yeah, amazing.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
I have to say I can visually see that the
spark in your eyes.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Going yeah, ten pin bowling.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
And you're not the only one to.

Speaker 5 (07:48):
No.

Speaker 6 (07:50):
I think you might be.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
The only one.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
No. No. Partly, I don't think you should never tell anybody.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
That calls the radio STI tells the whole country. I
love it, Arnica. I mean, I'm forty now, so it's
pretty sure you've moved on.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
You think about it, it's pretty funny.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Yeah, good on you, very very good.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Someone texture and they said, I learned recently that pickles
are actually made from cucumbers.

Speaker 7 (08:15):
You know that's actually wild? What that's wild?

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Because then there's also the corner cons corner Schon called
the corner coon, corner Sean. It's the mini peckle. It's
like the mini so you got you gotta warner.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
What is it?

Speaker 7 (08:29):
Corner Sean or corn Con?

Speaker 3 (08:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Both A Hattiest names corner Sean maybe comic con.

Speaker 3 (08:35):
I've been a couple of times. It's a good time.

Speaker 2 (08:38):
Let's talk to Becks on eight hundred dollars at Belogi.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Tell us, mate, what did you learn as an adult?

Speaker 8 (08:47):
Great old TikTok the EG for example? Given? I always
was like, what how does EG fit for example? Because
there's no G an example.

Speaker 7 (08:59):
I'm about to learn with you here me too.

Speaker 8 (09:01):
Yeah, so you know how like we always go E
G for and it means for example given. Oh, I've
always gone like, why is there no G in it
like how when we do etcetera, etc. Yeah, and I
also learned like I e's initial, Oh explanate, No, I've

(09:23):
forgotten the IE one.

Speaker 7 (09:24):
You know.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
What's cracker is that all of these we've never ever
been sat down and told what the four words are.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
We just assume and it's worse.

Speaker 8 (09:35):
I'm a teacher, so yeah, but again we never got
taught it.

Speaker 7 (09:39):
You don't have to teach it either.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
No.

Speaker 8 (09:42):
No, I'm always like, eg, give an example, and it's
because it's example given.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
Yeah, it has blown my mind. We appreciate that. Bis,
thank you crazy.

Speaker 7 (09:53):
Okay, Well, what else is Louise going to teach us anything?

Speaker 6 (09:55):
Louise?

Speaker 3 (09:56):
What have you learned?

Speaker 5 (09:56):
And how old were you?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (09:58):
I'm fifteen now, about five years ago. Right that I'm
just like booking along to you know, tequila song and
it just clicked.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
I mean, oh my god.

Speaker 8 (10:08):
These are all songs about actual drink names like Shuley Temple.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
And Jack Daniels and Jim Beam and and then I'm like.

Speaker 8 (10:16):
Oh my god, this whole song is always like drink.

Speaker 3 (10:20):
Wait what song is it?

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Tequila?

Speaker 3 (10:22):
By the song where it is like tequila?

Speaker 5 (10:28):
Is that? This one was? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:31):
I think it's my karaoke song. Singer Louise, Hey, I
can do a great.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
Karaoke song for people to go sing. Hey, thanks, Louise,
appreciate that.

Speaker 7 (10:46):
Well, I've just learned there to. This is great.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
It's about to blow your mind. There's so many good
ones on the text machine. Someone said, and I was
one of these people. I was with this person that says,
my wife thought nah, walls were mythical creatures like unicorns
until relatively recently. I always thought that they were mythical
as well.

Speaker 7 (11:08):
Me too, And I didn't think they were water characters.

Speaker 5 (11:11):
Nah.

Speaker 7 (11:12):
I thought they were like a horse.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
It's like a whale, and I've got this huge horn
at the top of its head.

Speaker 3 (11:17):
And I was like, oh, well, that's not a real animal, but.

Speaker 8 (11:20):
No it is.

Speaker 7 (11:20):
And we just googled it and it's pretty full noise.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
That's one so good.

Speaker 7 (11:24):
From Claudia whose ticks known six nine six.

Speaker 4 (11:27):
I just learned that a scarecrow it's called a scarecrow
because it's scars.

Speaker 7 (11:31):
Crows no shit caught it.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
I think it might be in the name.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Someone said, I learned recently that roosters are male chickens.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Oh, sometimes I want to say, come on, And then
I realized what I've just learned on my you we
don't judge.

Speaker 3 (11:48):
We don't judge.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
When someone else said I taught my thirty thirty year
old wife last year that reindeer are a real animal.
I feel like there's a few people out there because obviously,
you know, you've got the rain that leads Santa's sled,
but then there's real life reindeer as well.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
You know, they're real reindeer that are flying around in
that sled.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
They're not really in all parts of the country though,
either ace you're not often seeing reindeer.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
I remember the first time I saw one down in Wannaica,
and I was like, wow, that's such an incredible animal.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
You rubbed your eyes to see a few hours and
their antler's shed. They like shed every year apparently.

Speaker 7 (12:28):
Yeah, my auntie before she passed away, she had a
deer far did she?

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Yeah? And I remember one of them escaped and we
were having a glass of wine and then we would
just running and chase this blomen reindeer down their own But.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
That was in the South Island. It was Yeah, someone said,
this is such a good one.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
It says I've text this in before, but my all
time low was that peak Hour traffic. I heard it
as a name and thought it was a town called
peak Hour that calls and started the bad traffic gems.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
That's I love that one so much.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
Just south of Christ George Peakout, You're an Auckland peak out.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
With it seems to be it's causing all the issues.
