Speaker 2 (07:15):
We'll get it out to here. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
The trade's go to fifty three, only two behind the ladies.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Getting very close now.
Speaker 11 (07:24):
CDMs Bree and Clintic podcast.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Speaking of holidays, because it is school holidays at the moment,
the second week, right, we're in second week school holidays.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Yes, yeap. Third, if you're a private school, what they
get three and that's metal holidays of the year they
get three.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
How would you know that?
Speaker 3 (07:42):
Because I've got friends that were in private school. I'd
always sucked when they'd have that extra week. And they'll go,
believe it's a Fiji, darling or the state.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Well, I mean, you can't go to Europe for two weeks.
You got to go for three.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
Gosh, no, Daddy, you cannot.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
We must go for three. It's so far, so fun
to go.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Our boss actually was talking about what he's doing for
his kids for the school holidays and they're gone, right producers,
they're not here lived last week.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
I think, okay, good because it was a surprise.
Speaker 4 (08:13):
And when he told us what they were doing for
the kids, I was like, what that might be the
greatest surprise that these kids will ever get.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
And they better appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (08:24):
Well, he said to me, the kids don't know, but
we're going to la and we're taking them to Disneyland.
I was like, what, so you're going overseas. Do they
know that you're going to America? And I'm pretty sure
he said yes, right.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Claude, Yeah, they knew that they were going to America.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
I don't know if they knew they were going anywhere.
I think they thought they were going on school holidays.
And then he was just like, hey, guess what. I
don't think they even know they were going on a plane.
Speaker 6 (08:53):
So they get to the airport and they think they're
off to timorrow probably, Yeah, why are we at the
International Airport?
Speaker 2 (08:58):
Daddy? And then they go to and then he's surprising
them by taking them to the legit Disneyland.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
So this is the og Disneyland?
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Is that right?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
L A is the og?
Speaker 2 (09:10):
I think? So there's one Lauren to Disneyland.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
So I wouldn't neither.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
I've never been either, always have wanted to go. My
parents would definitely not rich and take it. Yep, the Anaheim,
California one is the original.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
See that's next level.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
You haven't been either, right, Ella?
Speaker 7 (09:27):
I have?
Speaker 10 (09:27):
And I cried the whole time because I know I
was scared of all the rides.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
I was such a little not even a brat. I
was just terrified of everything.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
She goes into it a small, small world after.
Speaker 10 (09:39):
Ology's like, actually, I really enjoyed the children rides more
because they're a little bit Captain tim.
Speaker 6 (09:46):
Jesus rocking around a teacup of vomits over the side
because she feels so sick.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
From it, but amazing, like surprise as a kid. I
said to him, I said, that will be a core
memory for these children for the rest of their life,
like when they're my age, they'll be talking about it
and saying how that their parents surprised them one time
on school holidays, took them to Disneyland.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Did you ever have anything like that grown up? I didn't.
I knew everywhere I was going.
Speaker 10 (10:12):
We were poor, even man like, you don't have to
have heaps of money, right for a little surprise.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
That's correct, That is true.
Speaker 6 (10:19):
I mean my dad did surprise my brother for his birthday,
made a full skateboard ramp, and.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
That was sad.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Doesn't count for me, though, does it?
Speaker 5 (10:28):
Not?
Speaker 2 (10:28):
Really?
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Any of those benefits, The only one I can really remember,
and it sticks out in my brain was on Christmas
morning one year, we get up and there's a string
tied to the front door. And after we'd opened our
presents from Santa, which were great, my dad said, there's
one more present, but it's from your mother and I
and you have to follow the string. And obviously I
(10:51):
grew up on a farm, so the string. We started
following the string, and.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
It took us all over it was so long, and.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
After about probably like three undred meters where we were
going in and out under the shed and out this way,
we've come around the corner and here's a nineteen sixty
something Toyota Corolla.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
You're kidding, bright yellow, And he said, I'm going to
teach you all how to drive a car.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
That's good, but you stoke you like, I'm not really.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
I thought it was going to be a jet ski.
So I was pretty disappointed.
Speaker 6 (11:23):
And where he's like, I will drive this around the farm.
I'm not taking this thing in public.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Oh, trust me. It wasn't registered. It was not registered.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
It was about I would have been about eight, and
I learned how to drive a manual car in that car.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
That's e Yeah, did.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
You actually start driving at eight?
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah, we were driving a manual car on the farm.
Obviously not, but that's.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
If it because when I was fifteen and forced to
drive a manual because it was like, you know, if
you land at manual, you can ride, you can drive
any car kind of thing. The amount of arguments I
had when you got that out of your system at
a young age, that's good.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Yeah, it just was like second nature what you were saying.
You got surprised one time ella by your parents.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (12:00):
Mom was like, let's go see some cute puppies.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
That's that right, And so we're all like.
Speaker 10 (12:05):
Yeah, we're holding these puppies like it was so cute,
great time and then at the very end, as kids,
we all do it.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
Can we have one? And this time it was yep,
we're taking that that does not have heen.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
That's a great surprise.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Ever, it's such a memory.
Speaker 10 (12:21):
She's thirteen now going blind, but been a long, great life.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
What a core memory for you? I was twelve, it
was the best thing. Ever's epic?
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Does he land a puppy? Anything for you, claud Nothing
for me.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
My dad went the other way and instead of surprising me,
he surprised his parents. They lived in England and he
just showed up at all.
Speaker 2 (12:37):
That birthday it turned up.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
That's pretty that's a good I mean, you don't benefit
from that.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
I'm so happy for my grandpa. Yeah, this is the thing.
We're not benefiting from this. The two that are abree and.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
To producer having around us.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
You know, Hey, well let's let's hear from other people
who did have that experience. Eight hundred dials in him
text us on nine six ninety six. Do you have
one of these core memories when your parents surprised you
with something? Brian Clint Clint Away on holidays Georgia filling
in and right now we're talking about those moments that
(13:15):
are core memories when your parents surprised you. Maybe they
they woke you up and they said, you're not going
to school today. We're going to go to Rainbow's End
and then we're going to go to a movie tonight
and go out for dinner.
Speaker 6 (13:27):
You'll remember that for the rest of You'll be bragging
to your friends for the rest of your life about that.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
I want to do that with my kids so bad, Like,
you know, just surprise them with something. It doesn't have
to be like a huge big deal either, like it
can be little, you know, but some of these techs
aren't little.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
No, some of these are extravagant.
Speaker 6 (13:45):
And that's all started because one of our big bosses
surprised has kids for the school holidays and took them
to Disneyland and La which is just right now.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
They've gone to La We hope. I don't know if
the kids know yet, but they go on to disney.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Land, I mean wild. Let's talk to Bella. Get a Bella, gooday? Hello?
What was it for you, Bella? That core memory where
your parents surprised you with something?
Speaker 7 (14:08):
Yeah, I was my tenth birthday, and we went horse
riding on a horse riding treat. And I think they
surprised themselves too, because I came home with a horse.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
What wait, so that wasn't in the cards for your
parents before you went there. Had you been horse riding before?
Speaker 7 (14:27):
Yes, I've been riding Sipost three and I just fell
on Robbers's horse and they're like, okay, he can get
it home.
Speaker 11 (14:34):
We'll get it for you.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
Shut up. Had you been nagging your parents for years, Bella,
to get a horse?
Speaker 7 (14:40):
Oh? Not really? Because I really good, I would go.
I took me horse riding this weekend, you know, tricking places.
But yeah, that was a car and I just got
on my horse and I rode at home as a
ten year old.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
Yeah wait, wait.
Speaker 7 (14:54):
Rode about fifteen cas.
Speaker 4 (14:55):
You rode at home fifteen K's home. You said you
rode the horse home? Yeah, that's amazing.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Did you name it or did it already have a name?
Speaker 7 (15:07):
I had any Leddy?
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Yep, Gladdy? Did you say Leeddy Laddie. That's the best
story ever, Bella. You'll never forget that ever.
Speaker 7 (15:18):
And it stayed in our backyard for a couple of
couple of days. Until we found graving for it.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Just picturing your suburban Did you live in a suburban house?
Speaker 10 (15:30):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (15:31):
I had a.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Big story the egspeller. Thank you for that Bella and
how we're going to top that. Let's see if we can.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
On the tix known six nine Sex.
Speaker 6 (15:42):
I got surprised with a buzz Light Year at Disneyland.
That toy wasn't available in in z and it was
the happiest day of my life.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
You were at Disneyland, so that's already like crazy and
then you get the toy that you've always wanted before
anyone else.
Speaker 6 (15:57):
Your parents could have like gone themselves and that to
be back and it still.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
Would have been the hat.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Here's another one says my daughter is a big fan
of Harry Potter. On her eleventh birthday, we took her
to Harry Potter World in London, so she went to
Hogwarts on her eleventh birthday. On the way, we also
stopped in la and took her to Disneyland. It was
an amazing trip for all three of us.
Speaker 6 (16:20):
Now I'm gissing Laura, whose tick said and probably wanted
to take off all of these things her south and.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Was like, let's do it on our daughters and everyone wins.
Can someone Harry Potter fans in the house? Well, when
did Harry hermione? What when do you start at Hogwarts?
Speaker 2 (16:35):
Is it eleven? It is eleven? Yeah, that's why it's.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
More significantly it's true eleventh birthday.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
You get the letter, right, that's so cool? God, that
what an amazing I don't know eleventh.
Speaker 3 (16:47):
Wait, big fan. Maybe I'm on the six nine Sex
nine Sex.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
And we were surprised with the cruise trip and a
week before we were supposed to board it.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
It's oh god, that's quite timely considering the Did you
see the doco that's just gone up on Netflix? Which
one about that cruise ship that sank off the coast
of Italy?
Speaker 3 (17:09):
What if it was there?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
What this was in twenty thirteen? Have you guys seen
that doco go up on Netflix?
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Oh it's chilling. I watched it last night. Awful, just
gone up on Netflix. I think it's called Shipwrecked. Anyway.
Someone else said my parents took me and my sister's
to America. We were in San Diego when they said
we had to get dressed up to go to dinner.
Little did we know they were actually taking us to
see Selena Gomez.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
We were ten.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
Look I'm a Haley Baber fan, but that would have
been sick.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
That's amazing. That is amazing.
Speaker 6 (17:43):
Hey guys, I'm from a very low income household that
never even we never went without the essential.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
It was one Crestmas. The tree was in a huge box.
Speaker 6 (17:52):
After we opened all the prisons, Dad see it, there
was time to open the big box. We couldn't work
out what it meant and what turned out to be
inside of it was a swimming pool and it was
the best surprise for us as kids. So you'll you'll
see that special especially, I feel like you appreciate it
more when you know that your parents are potentially from
a lower income household.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
Also, when it's summer and you get a swimming pool,
Hell yeah, what a.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Time to be a lot tending to be did in
the pool? Anyone else do.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
That all the time?
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Always down, when you put your what about when you
put your hair down and then you flick your hair
back over and you look like Captain Cook.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
You know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
I'm with you on the.
Speaker 11 (18:33):
Ends, Bran Colin. See this is the tea.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
That's why you're here, My right hand gal honestly got
you back.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
I'll finish your sentences for you.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (18:44):
This is crazy because I was obviously you guys have
a bit of a connection at the moment where old
spy skills trying to get the bag, trying to get
the impulse back. This is a this is an invisible string.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
What do you mean at the moment?
Speaker 3 (18:54):
Oh sorry, your whole life.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I and be connected to the spy skills forever end.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
Ever, well, it may not have been the case.
Speaker 6 (19:01):
There could have been a moment where one of our
favorite spy skills might not have been there. So she
was on When I say she, I mean mel C
was on a Louis Thoraux podcast and she let it
slip about a time that basically she spoke unkindly to
Victoria Beacam that could have got to kicked off the
spy skills.
Speaker 8 (19:19):
It was the Bricks in the nineties, right, Everyone was
having fun and we were just leaving and we were
like going to find our card. I just turned around
and said to Victor wake up the next morning. And
I was in a lot of trouble. So I'm Goony
wanted to speak to me, and I was told in
no on certain terms. If anything ever happened like that again, I.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Would be gone.
Speaker 8 (19:39):
That completely freaked me out, one because I didn't realize
I'd done anything that bad, and two because my actions
may have led to me losing everything.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
And they're doing a world with nice body spies.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
I'd be so devastated. But also Victoria, get over yourself.
Speaker 6 (19:57):
She If you're gonna say that to anyone, it's not
Victoria Bickham.
Speaker 4 (20:01):
I feel like she would have been saying it in
like it's been a long day, yeah, like I have
of yeah, not like in a serious you know Q
and the I I've had enough of you, like straight
down the barrel kind of thing. It would have been
like a throwaway comment. But obviously Victoria Beckham did not
like it. And I did see this because I watched
(20:22):
quite a bit of this interview and it was before
that even released any music, so they were at the
brit Awards and people in the industry kind of knew
what was happening and that the band was, you know,
kind of coming together, but it was before any music
was released or anything, so it could have been over
before it even started.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
Which would have been such a shame because as everyone knows,
and as she sees later on this interview, they've never
split up. They've always been together the Spice because I've
always been there and as you've seen a part of
our lives since we were little.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
So well, I mean they kind of did split up
when Jerry left.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Apparently they didn't.
Speaker 6 (20:57):
Melsey will argue she gets offended by that, really, yeah.
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Because Jerry has commented where she's like, I regret leaving. Honestly,
it's in that she goes, Oh, if I could go back,
I wouldn't.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
I wouldn't leave.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
They say anything just to get a bit of Spice skills, mate.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
It helps me right in? Can you tell it does?
Speaker 3 (21:15):
Where's the Impulse Bring the Empire, bring.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
The Impulse back? Hey, we're still on Impulse watch.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
We're still working behind the scenes trying to get Spice
Girl's Impulse deodorant brought.
Speaker 6 (21:26):
Back, and you're trying to get the girls on board
for it, right, Malc would be the one to do it.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
Yeah, I know she would be. Melby comment commented on
my post.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
So here we get the mals way to brag about it? Eh?
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Did you? I thought that was a little sly name
drop there.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
Podcast planned away for the school holidays. He'll be back
next week. Georgia from Days filling in and we're just talking.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
About the dismal effort in the UFC yesterday from Connor
McGregor injured himself straight out the gate.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
Basically just shouldn't have even bother coming back at all.
Speaker 2 (22:00):
So we're asking you, when did you injure yourself? Immediately?
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Amy?
Speaker 6 (22:05):
What's his story? When did you straight away into yourself?
Speaker 9 (22:09):
I was playing indoor netball and I broke the bone
off my finger where the ligament attaches three minutes into
the game.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
Wait, which part of the finger, like.
Speaker 9 (22:20):
The first joint just off my knuckle?
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Oh, how did you manage that? Amy?
Speaker 9 (22:26):
I went to get the ball and another guy went
to as well, and I don't really know, but I
think my finger smashed into his hand and it was Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
Is it all munted or did you get it fixed?
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Well?
Speaker 9 (22:40):
I've been in a splint for four weeks and I'll
probably be in it for another Well, this week just happened.
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Yeah, wow, because there's a similar injury happened to me
a few years ago where I was tucking a towel
into the backseat of my car right Hey, Amy, hear
me out?
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Maybe out?
Speaker 4 (22:58):
And I push my fingers down to tuck the towel
in and I hit the top of my middle finger
and it's in it.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
The ligament just went.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
I remember your little splint your head on her.
Speaker 2 (23:11):
And so guess how long I had my fingers splint
on for Amy?
Speaker 5 (23:15):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (23:15):
I don't really want to know, because then it will
mean that I have it on for a long time.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Oh it was like two days, ten weeks, ten weeks
I had that bloody thing on.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
It's stunk.
Speaker 9 (23:26):
Oh yeah, no, so does mine.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Honestly, it's disgusting. Hey, well, all the best with your recovery.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Will you go down to people?
Speaker 9 (23:34):
I I will, with probably a lot of fear.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Yep, she'll just have to. She'll just wear that splint
on when she's playing, and.
Speaker 6 (23:41):
I reckon, he's just wear some gloves, you know, cover
up their hands. Thank you for your story, Amy James.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
James, Hey, how's it going? When did you injure yourself?
Speaker 5 (23:51):
Immediately the debut game for the local Prims rugby team,
and minutes into the first man to have broke my league?
Speaker 4 (24:02):
Which party your league did you break?
Speaker 5 (24:04):
It's one of the lower ones. Tabula or something like that,
the teable, the.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
Fib one of those those clean break as well.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Yeah's a clean break. But that was there that the
first season.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Was that your big call up to the prem side. James, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 5 (24:23):
Yeah, it was the au straight out of school first game.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
And James, tell me, if it wasn't for that, you'd
be playing for the All Blacks.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
Now, oh you'd be.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
You kind of were a local name, like a local
hero already, weren't.
Speaker 5 (24:40):
You, James, Probably not?
Speaker 4 (24:43):
Oh good on you, James, appreciate it. A lot of
techs coming through. Someone said, I broke three ribs three
days into our three week tour of Japan. And I've
never broken ribs before, but my mum has and it.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
Took like years to heal.
Speaker 4 (24:59):
And the pain that you have when you break ribs,
like watching my mum, it must be excruciating.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
And imagine your whole trip. You're just an excruciating pain.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
I just hope that they weren't there.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
And sort of winter time, do you know how breathing
and winter is so much hard to imagine, like everywhere
you go, and I hope you weren't trying to ski
while you're still there. Two I fell down the stairs
on day one of leave before my wedding and broke
my tailbone. Had to set on a doughnut cushion for
my wedding.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
And all of my honeymoon travel to Southeast Asia. I'm
not laughing, but I am. That's unfortunate importing.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
Someone else said I was a last minute ring in
to go play in a basketball game. First five minutes
of the game, someone took me out as I landed
and I tore my acl Two years on and it's
still giving me grief.
Speaker 6 (25:51):
The acurs I've torn mine twice and they don't get
any of it. First was rugby and high school friendly games,
the same sort of situation we just played, and then
straight away to it. Then, when it was still healing,
was at a playground with my kniece, jumped off something
like I don't know playground, heigh, it's small, just off
the ground, tore it again.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
She had to carry me home.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
And if it wasn't for that, you would be playing
in the black ferns.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
No, No, I'd be Actually, yes, I would be Ruby Telly.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Actually, hey, someone get Ruby Tewey on the phone and
we should organize a test.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Georgia versus n just to see how you'd match up.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
I'd love to tackle her. Actually, I'd love her to
tackle you, no other way around.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
The z M podcast Network producer Ella You said today,
I'd like to bring an am I the Asshole to
the show.
Speaker 10 (26:46):
Yeah, because our standard A hole isn't here.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
Wait, you said standard I don't come under any category
of a whole A.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
But what technically we all have a standard A hole.
Speaker 4 (27:00):
I'm assuming it feels weird to shoot something, you know,
and then so and Clint's not here to defend himself.
That's not very No, let's aim to do that for
the rest of the week. What is the situation you've
got for us this afternoon?
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Am I the Ahole?
Speaker 10 (27:16):
A situation that I found on Read it and it's
always fun to discuss it to see who is in
the wrong and the right.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
So how would I just read it and.
Speaker 10 (27:24):
Then we can discuss Okay, So this person says, my
mother in law is very generous and loves buying people
gifts through her favorite online retailer without asking what they want.
Several times she's bought things I was already planning to
buy myself, but not the specific version I wanted. The
latest example was a toddler bed for our daughter. My
(27:44):
wife and I had picked out what we already wanted,
but my mother, my mother in law, ordered a different
one on that website that she likes to buy from,
but neither of us liked it. So I finally asked
my wife to have the order canceled. She thought I
was being ungry grateful.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
Well I was. Well, I thought it was reasonable.
Speaker 10 (28:02):
Since we never asked for the gift and planned to
buy the bid ourselves.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
So now the order is canceled.
Speaker 10 (28:07):
My mother in law is offended, my wife is upset
with me, and I'm wondering if I'm in the wrong.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Am I the umle? God?
Speaker 6 (28:15):
Okay, wait, just to clarify one thing. Why is the
Why is the partner upset?
Speaker 2 (28:23):
A free bed? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Yeah, okay, Look, I have a few thoughts again. I look, God,
I'm always Switzerland. I can understand both sides, and I
will pick a side.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Give me a chance.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
I can understand both sides. I understand what he's saying
that it's a little bit frustrating because you end up
getting things that aren't quite on the money of what
you wanted. But then also you're getting it for free,
so a bit ungrateful. I think he handled it badly, Okay,
I think rather than approaching it how he did what
(29:04):
did he say?
Speaker 3 (29:04):
He said he got his wife to do it, Yeah,
to her mom the way. Yeah that's good, that's good.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
But I mean it could have just been a conversation. Mean, like, hey,
we love when you buyas these gifts. It's so generous
and we really love it and it helps us out
a lot.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
We really appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (29:23):
But hey, maybe next time you could we work on
it together to get the exact one that we were
looking at because.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Of this reason or that reason, you know.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
Yeah, Jose, what are your thoughts? Well, I'm quite particular.
I'm actually quite particular with a lot of things, and
it's annoying. It's actually like we were talking about this
at home. Mum and Dare were at mine this morning
and they.
Speaker 6 (29:43):
Suggested I do something, and I was like, episode no,
I want nothing in that space, right, Like, I'm very
clean cut, minimalist, right, And so I I.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Don't think he is, only because.
Speaker 6 (29:57):
If you don't speak up and tell them, they're not
going to know you don't like some of the things
that they.
Speaker 4 (30:03):
Get you yeah, but couldn't it seem like you're being
a bit ungrateful or rude?
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Does that take it back?
Speaker 6 (30:09):
The other option is as if you accept it still
don't want it, and then you go, oh, I'm just
going to give that to someone else, and then they go,
how's that.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
Totally bid that? Oh gosh, okay.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
So here's the situation. Let's say your mother in law
buys you a new mattress. Oh, it's not exactly the
mattress that you want.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
That we're sleeping on.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Yeah, let's say your mattress is awful.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
You've got an awful mattress and you need a new one,
but you can't necessarily afford the exact one that you want.
Your mother in law steps in buys you this beautiful
new mattress, but it's not necessarily the exact one that
you wanted, but it is a new mattress.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
I'd try it out.
Speaker 3 (30:50):
I go, thank you so much, Janine.
Speaker 10 (30:52):
I'm going to give this a good retrial. My back
is a bit sensitive. It's tested out, and then a
month goes by.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
Oh, jannye is that your mother in law's real? No,
I'm just so let's get Janine on the fuld Well, you.
Speaker 3 (31:08):
Can also get metross topics, so you might.
Speaker 6 (31:10):
Be able to slightly fix that solution, and a lot
of places they'll give you like a money back guarantee
on the beard so you can take it back and
get switch it for when your.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
Mother in law gets an email notifying her that the
bed's been taken back.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
Whoops.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Okay, well text us on nine six nine six. What
do you think is the mother in law in the
wrong or is the someone who's already sad? No mother
in law needs training.
Speaker 6 (31:35):
They can make a Facebook thread of exact gifts that
seems very specific, or you.
Speaker 4 (31:40):
Could just always sell it on trade me and then
go buy what you want.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
But they're gonna ask. They're gonna say, how's that beer?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I love it? That's the one right there?
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Yeah, No, not gonna remember, are they.
Speaker 11 (31:54):
It's z it ms Brilling Clint podcast.
Speaker 6 (31:57):
So on Friday it was Mustadigi and I was a
way for the long weekend with the rents, but I
took a moment out to actually catch up with the
one and only Lexi Minitry, who was playing.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
A young al Woods. Al Woods you know from Le Blond.
Speaker 4 (32:11):
Yeah, this is the TV show adaptation. Everyone's talking about it.
They're saying that it's a it's a really good show.
Speaker 6 (32:18):
It isn't set back in nineteen ninety five when Ol
is sixteen years old.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
We have something important we want to talk to you about.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
Oh, we're moving to Seattle.
Speaker 11 (32:28):
It doesn't sound right now, world.
Speaker 12 (32:30):
I like ice coffee, the month of July and when
people dress kind of Tennessee even if they don't play tennis.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Did someone put you up to this?
Speaker 6 (32:39):
Oh my gosh is this Lexi minitary aka al woods Hi?
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Watching the show, it comes with so many quotes that.
Speaker 6 (32:47):
Just make us laugh through and through and legally Blonde
has those moments they've lived on forever. What quotes from
Ol do you think are going to be those for
this show?
Speaker 12 (32:57):
Ooh well, I love uh well, I don't run, but
I do walk with conviction.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
That's a great one.
Speaker 12 (33:06):
And I also love Junes at the end where they
go can someone arrest her?
Speaker 3 (33:12):
And she goes, absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
She's in Chanelle.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
There's such a good one. And from the trailer that
one was one I was like, I need to.
Speaker 6 (33:19):
Say when we're in half of this, we were left
on such a cliffhanger.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
One that I knew I had a feeling towards the enna.
Speaker 6 (33:26):
I was like, oh no, don't make us all choose
who it's going to be.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Season two, I guess has been finned.
Speaker 6 (33:32):
You know, you probably can't tell us too much, but
what can you tell us about this season?
Speaker 11 (33:36):
Why can I tell you?
Speaker 12 (33:38):
We pick up fairly quickly where season one ends, so
there won't be like a crazy time jump.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
The audience will get to.
Speaker 12 (33:46):
Know right away what's going to happen with everything, and
it's so fun. I mean, I feel like everyone's hit
their stride in season two. There's so much comedy, there's
so much heart. Everyone gets to really delve into each
of their storylines because you know, we've already done the
work of introducing everyone.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
So I just I was, I think fans are going
to be really really excited. Oh we already are, And
this is the exciting thing.
Speaker 6 (34:10):
You've given this character the life we were asking for,
obviously learning from nineteen ninety five the life of Allen,
how she became.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Who she was.
Speaker 6 (34:18):
What was the hardest elism that you found to actually
put through onto that screen?
Speaker 12 (34:26):
You know, her voice was pretty tricky, because you know,
I was kind of trying to use inspiration from Reese's performance,
but also being like, okay, would she sound different in
high school? And also maintaining that voice, because you know,
after after speaking for three months every day you start
(34:46):
to lose your voice a bit, and I would start
drinking Dayquell a lot of dayquel, which is not good
for you. So it was it was all about kind
of maintaining the voice.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Health was important. Never even thought about that, to be fair,
but I suppose because it is, it's going into a
different part of your vocals, right Yeah. Did you get
to take anything from the set home?
Speaker 12 (35:09):
There was a couple of items I might have snagged.
There is a one pair of shoes I took, but
then they gifted them to me, so that I felt
less cool. I was like, dang it, now it's a gifts.
Next time I'm going to I'm going to get a
bag and just run around and steal stuff.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
That was Georgia catching up with what's her name?
Speaker 6 (35:28):
Lexi Military her first big role, right yeah?
Speaker 2 (35:32):
It is Yeah in the new TV show l which
you can watch on Amazon Prime right now, all.
Speaker 3 (35:36):
Eight episodes out. It is the pre call to Legally Blonde.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
It's the whole story of Res Witherspoon creating this show
and she cast her. It was actually really really cool,
but it's going to have a huge viral moment, like
I think legally Blonded.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Really, according to reports of friends of mine that have
watched it, it's really good.
Speaker 6 (35:53):
It's just that magical pink world that I would never
live in, but you feel like you could you see
and you're like.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
Also, all the clips from your interview with Lexi are
up on ZM right now if you want to check
that out as.
Speaker 11 (36:08):
MS Briting Clint podcast Brian Clint.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
No word yet, And so what the song was that
she walked down the aisle. Rumors are that it was
lot of her own song.
Speaker 6 (36:19):
Yeah, rumor was that it was one of the OG
songs that I just found out over the week in
Sleny Gomis is one of the first to hear, by
the way, this particular song right here. If that's the case,
done by a string courts hit, Is.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
That a bit hey goen shouldn't have been like, you.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
Know, there's plenty of other songs or is it or
is it cute that she picked one of.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
Her own I personally don't think it is, but then
I'm not a musician, so.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
Like I, I mean, my wedding coming up next year,
hopefully all things going well. I am thinking about walking
down the aisle to send it from the hot Best
Express Waite.
Speaker 3 (36:54):
I thought you're gonna do the other one that you
recorded with.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Sachi that well, that's way more of a banger. What
do you've got the bangers? They're both bangers? You know.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
Have you got it for us to play Rember what
it's called? No, neither, And she's not going to tell us.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
They're so sad. We've got to move on. Just remind
us it's game called love.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
But there's the background for this.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
No, we need to talk about you, Georgia, because your
mum cornered you and called you out about something on
the weekend.
Speaker 6 (37:23):
Yeah it was real random, I think because like I've
had the same gorgeous group of friends my whole life,
Like we've just always been mates. I no, sorry, I've
had a really crep.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Sorry you've got good communication skills with your friends.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
I don't. I'm the worst. But the thing is is
that it is a christ hitch thing. I think it
might not being this is what we're going to find out.
But it feels as though mum said to me and
everyone just kind of like date did and got with
each other, didn't they?
Speaker 2 (37:51):
You know, what did your mom say?
Speaker 3 (37:52):
She's has been a little bit of insist to us
over the years.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
I was like, meaning, that friend hooked up with their friend,
except just work out. So then they hooked up with
this other friend, all within the same friend group.
Speaker 6 (38:04):
Yeah, and years go by, so it's not just like
straight away and you know, it can't be with the
X and whatnot.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
It's just like years gone by. We might have been
thirteen and then they got together when they were twenty five.
You know, We've always been kind of in this realm.
Speaker 6 (38:17):
And as someone's text nine sex nine sex agree with
Georgia on it being a crash which thing went to
high school there? And my school best friend is now
married to my ex boyfriend, and about three to four
and the same friend group have all dated each other's
husbands at some point in the past.
Speaker 2 (38:30):
Really, so this.
Speaker 3 (38:31):
Is what I kind of want to know, is is
it just not a christ Church thing?
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Because it's just a christ Church thing.
Speaker 6 (38:38):
I think it's also dependent on how big your friend
group might be, how whether you spend a lot of
time hanging out with guy friend groups, and you've all
kind of done the same thing to get.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
Like question for you, how many of your guy mates
in the friend group have you hooked up with?
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Take your tom here, I might.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
Need to I know, I'm kidding. I think I'm on
too two.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
How many to go?
Speaker 4 (39:00):
I mean, you're married. The pain wasn't in your friend group?
Was he husband? Now husband? So he wasn't So you
went away from the friend group. We all kind of
did straight away. I think we all had straight away.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
But at the time it was like, oh that was
my Yeah, I dated herm in the year even you
dated him in year twelve. All had a good, big deal.
I might have just kissed them. They might have gone
further on, you see.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
I'll see. What about producers? Is this the thing in
your friend group? The ones that I'm still friends with?
But I remember at high school it was a bit like,
you know, they've broken up, so you just kind of
mixed a match a little bit.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Yeah, I never did.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
You pick up on the qualities that they didn't like exactly?
Speaker 4 (39:45):
Yeah, and they've improved them by the time you get
to them. They're a bit of person.
Speaker 3 (39:48):
Thanks for doing that?
Speaker 2 (39:51):
What about you produce years?
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 10 (39:56):
Yeah, high school would have had crushes on the guys
in your group and in UNI.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
The same and now you're near twenty. How was an
animal man? Very common?
Speaker 4 (40:08):
Can I say? In the gay like dating scene, a
lot of the time there's connections. You'll be like, oh,
like this person's dated that person. You're always connected and
you're like, what the hell's going on? It's like a spiderweb.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
Yes, so all we are literally all, what does it cause?
Speaker 2 (40:24):
That thing? In New Zealand seven degrees the separation?
Speaker 3 (40:28):
Is it more like two degrees in New Zealand?
Speaker 2 (40:31):
I think that is the key?
Speaker 3 (40:32):
And then in the gay community is like one degree.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
One and a half separation. I thought we could put
it out there on eight hundred dials. Whatever we text
us on nine six ninety six. Is this a thing
in your friend group? Or is it just a christ
Church thing? Like George is thinking, I'm thinking it's not.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Me so and I want to know, like where everyone's at.
Has anyone liked the person who said is married your
ex boyfriend?
Speaker 6 (40:53):
And then there's three or four others. Has that happened?
Give us the timeline we.
Speaker 4 (40:57):
Want receipts, like how many people have hooked up with her?
And why is it so incestuous in your friend group?
Like how many people are hooked up with each other?
Speaker 6 (41:04):
And are you on like the are you on the
husband that was everyone else's boyfriend?
Speaker 3 (41:10):
Oh you know, maybe you have got them, You've got
a version. Yeah, they tasted them out for you and
you didn't have to worry about any of the failures.
Speaker 4 (41:18):
Plays Brian cland Georgia from Days Filling In, who has
quite an incestuous friend group according to your mum?
Speaker 3 (41:27):
Yeah, so mum.
Speaker 6 (41:28):
Over the week he made a comment about how, like
in my friend group, we've all kind of dated the
same dudes or whatever as time has gone.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
By, like Hot Potato, but between the friends. Yeah, you
know if Hot Potato was dating them.
Speaker 3 (41:41):
And that's true, it's kind of funny, like, for example,
like one of my first ever boyfriends from intermedia is
marrying my best friends or sister, and I'm the MC.
It's gonna be either.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
There is a lot to unpack in that sentence. It's
gonna unreal wrap my head around that.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
But this is.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
Why I wondered if it was just a christ shoot thing.
Speaker 6 (42:00):
Apparently it's not based on the text nine six nine
sex and also based on anonymous.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
High anonymous, Hi, how are you good? Thanks? Is this
a thing in your friend group?
Speaker 5 (42:11):
It was once upon a time?
Speaker 2 (42:13):
Okay, tell us the details. What are the receipts? Yeah?
So I started dating my partner four years ago and
I came into his spring groups.
Speaker 7 (42:22):
I lived in Duneda.
Speaker 2 (42:23):
And moved up to christ Church, okay.
Speaker 1 (42:25):
And he was living with a girl.
Speaker 2 (42:28):
And turns out she was sleeping with about four of
the four boys from the same friend group.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
Wait wait, wait, wait at the same time time or
like she can knew it?
Speaker 6 (42:39):
Whoa, Okay, that's taken it to the next level. We
just did this, like I don't know high.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
School, aleda. I can see why you want to be
anonymous anonymous. No, it was university era, okay, everyone living
their best life, fancy free.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
Were they all in the halls as well? No?
Speaker 7 (42:56):
No, so we were all fledding you right, crazy?
Speaker 2 (43:01):
That's yeah? Okay? And did she did she end up
with any of them?
Speaker 5 (43:05):
Like?
Speaker 2 (43:05):
Did they live happily ever? After?
Speaker 7 (43:08):
No?
Speaker 2 (43:08):
They shunned her and no one talks to her.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
Really, well that's savage.
Speaker 5 (43:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a.
Speaker 3 (43:17):
Bit rough, but hey and on, that's at least you're
all happy in love? Is that correct? Nice?
Speaker 2 (43:23):
Oh my god, that story was ectic Anonymous, thanks for
calling that.
Speaker 11 (43:30):
Oh look, it seems like Dunedin again.
Speaker 3 (43:32):
What's happening in More's gil Dunedin.
Speaker 6 (43:35):
It's a thing too one high school teen to fifteen
k's from the other Tin and Dunedin and I'll say
you no more.
Speaker 2 (43:42):
Okay, we can, we can connect the dots.
Speaker 4 (43:44):
Someone else said in the cargol, it's a thing incestuous
friend groups in high school. I dated my friend's ex,
and now my ex girlfriend dates my best mate.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
Oh well that's a lot too.
Speaker 3 (43:56):
Yeah, I'm all twisted.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
Hang on, so in it make my friend's ex right.
Speaker 3 (44:02):
And now my ex dates my best mate?
Speaker 5 (44:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (44:06):
Gotcha?
Speaker 3 (44:06):
Yeah to put down yep.
Speaker 2 (44:08):
Everyone's kind of pinballing around.
Speaker 6 (44:10):
And others come through on the text non sex, non sex.
My husband took my brother's wife's virginity back in the day,
very common in rural South Canterbury.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
Whoa God, that would be an interesting combo at family Christmas,
wouldn't it. Someone else said, I dated every guy in
my friend group in high school and I kissed some
of the girls in my friend group too.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
I wasn't the only one, but I'm pretty.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
Sure I was the worst.
Speaker 4 (44:38):
I love that you own it though exactly. Well, just
slit your hand up and you see that was me.
Speaker 3 (44:43):
Reflections are good.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
I lived my best life, you.
Speaker 6 (44:45):
Know, looking back now, I definitely made the right decision.
But let me tell you what I did as I
have a wife who was in a group of sex
girls king got it, and I had a crush on
three of them right before I ended up with her.
Speaker 3 (45:02):
So now she jokes that I was the last choice.
Speaker 4 (45:05):
More technically, no, you were the fourth choice. There's two
more behind you.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
Obviously they won't bangers.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
Georgiaday.
Speaker 4 (45:16):
Someone else said, guys, it's a New Zealand thing. This
place is so small. It is like I feel like,
since living in New Zealand, everyone kind of is connected
in some way.
Speaker 3 (45:27):
Why is it there no one from the North Islanders?
Tickson and I think it's a South Island thing. This
is the problem.
Speaker 4 (45:32):
Oh no, it's not. Don't you worry about that. The
North Islanders are just as freaky.
Speaker 3 (45:36):
They're quiet.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
Yeah, I like to keep it on the down low. Hey,
we're gonna do a Birthday Banger, next.
Speaker 11 (45:42):
CDMs Brie and Clint Podcast Free and Clint.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
Birthday Clint Away for the School Holidays Georgia from Days
filling in.
Speaker 2 (45:53):
Do you enjoy your birthday banger?
Speaker 5 (45:55):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (45:55):
I love it? I love a birthday banger, but I
do often argue with the two of you at the
when I hear you pick the song I don't want
to hear.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
Do you think we picked the wrong ones?
Speaker 6 (46:04):
Just one time recently and I think it was last Thursday,
and I was.
Speaker 2 (46:07):
Like, oh, what was it?
Speaker 3 (46:09):
I can't remember. Oh, I was quite passionate about it.
Speaker 4 (46:11):
Okay, And that's what we want. We want the songs
to invoke some sort of emotion.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Don't worry it does.
Speaker 4 (46:19):
Well, let's see what we get today. Let's talk to Kylie. Afternoon, Kylie, Hi,
how's your day being?
Speaker 3 (46:26):
Ah?
Speaker 2 (46:26):
Pretty busy? Oh well, let's hey, let's wind it down
with a birthday bang? And what is your day? To
birth mate? Twenty second of the seventh, nineteen nineteen. Right,
that means you just want to end in there, first
time caller.
Speaker 3 (46:39):
Don't do this to me. I don't know where it is.
Speaker 6 (46:41):
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Wait, say that one
more time for us, Kylie.
Speaker 4 (46:46):
First time caller, Kylie, go, Kylie, go, go go Kyle?
Speaker 2 (46:53):
Is that your first one?
Speaker 3 (46:55):
There was? Oh no, I don't know where to go.
Speaker 4 (46:57):
We appreciate that, Kylie. Thanks for finally calling. What is
your birthday?
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Baite at the twenty second? Obviously nineteen nineteen.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
Well that means you were sixteen and two thousand and
six and on that day in six this had a
number one hit.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
Happy with that, Kylie, remiscuous?
Speaker 11 (47:19):
Good song.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
Yeah, you seem a bit hesitant on that's a good song.
It's a good song.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
I think it's a bot from Nellie Fotato. Very good.
Speaker 4 (47:28):
All right, Kylie, stick around, it could win. Let's talk
to call Choe help. Hi Chloe? Hi, how's your day been, Chloe?
Speaker 2 (47:36):
After a long weekend, you're pretty chill with the kids
on school holidays.
Speaker 9 (47:40):
You're here now, they're very excited.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
Oh no way. What are their names?
Speaker 7 (47:44):
I've got Melly and Pepper, Millie and Pepper.
Speaker 5 (47:47):
Hi.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
Hi, Are they having a great time on school holidays? Chloe?
Speaker 7 (47:53):
Oh yeah, they're loving it.
Speaker 3 (47:54):
Are you having a good time on school holidays with them? Chloe?
Speaker 9 (47:58):
Yes, as I'm a teacher's lush.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
Oh Gage, this has been like a holiday for you. Then, Chloe,
what is your birthday? Bait?
Speaker 9 (48:08):
Are the thirteenths of May nineteen ninety two?
Speaker 2 (48:11):
You've got the exact same birthdays my brother, Buzzy.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
You were sixteen in two thousand and eight, Chloe, And
here's your birthday banger.
Speaker 3 (48:24):
Banger Bang?
Speaker 2 (48:25):
Do you remember that one from Madonna and justin Timberlake.
Speaker 7 (48:29):
Yes, banger.
Speaker 6 (48:31):
I sometimes hear these in wonder how they're not already
in Friday Gams, like there is a go to.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Yeah, that's exact.
Speaker 4 (48:37):
Slow Chloe, You've got an absolute bob for yours. Stick
around it definitely could win one more for Cullen. Who's
going to do mum Claire's birthday?
Speaker 2 (48:45):
Banger?
Speaker 10 (48:46):
Hi?
Speaker 3 (48:47):
Hello, Callen?
Speaker 2 (48:48):
How old are you? Cullen? I'm thirteen.
Speaker 4 (48:52):
Also in three years you call us back and we'll
do yours. Okay, oh yeah, but for right now, what
is mum's birthday?
Speaker 2 (49:01):
The sixteenth of August nineteen eighty four? Nice color.
Speaker 4 (49:04):
That means mum was sixteen in the year two thousand
and on that day in two thousand, this was top
of the charts. Mister Robbie Williams, Hell yeah, surely, Cullen
can you ask mum does she like a bit of
Robbie Williams.
Speaker 7 (49:24):
Huh oh, yep, No, that was okay that song I
remember that back in the day.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
You're not keen on it, Claire, tell the truth, I
can tell.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
Wait, hang on, So what are you swaying towards?
Speaker 2 (49:39):
Then?
Speaker 3 (49:39):
Clear?
Speaker 9 (49:41):
No?
Speaker 3 (49:41):
I was.
Speaker 7 (49:42):
I was having a we givet for that.
Speaker 2 (49:44):
We're not buying at Claire, and that's okay.
Speaker 4 (49:46):
You don't get to choose your birthday banger, and sometimes
it's not your favorite.
Speaker 2 (49:51):
Hey, let's vote.
Speaker 4 (49:53):
We've got Promiscuous from Nellie Vatado, four minutes from Madonna
and rock DJ Robbie.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Williams Know where I am. I feel like you're going
four minutes.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
I am. I'm going four minutes.
Speaker 2 (50:04):
And because you are our guest on the show.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
You don't have to feel sorry for me. You peck
what you want.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
Mate.
Speaker 4 (50:09):
I would never feel sorry for you, but you know
I'm gonna go with you.
Speaker 2 (50:14):
Four minutes Madonna.
Speaker 3 (50:16):
Four minutes Madonna, which means Chloe, Chloe, you.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
Millie and Pepper have one birthday banger. Well done, guys,
and we're going to play you that song right now here.
It is four minutes. Have a good rest of your holidays, guys.
Speaker 7 (50:33):
Thanks bye, guys.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
This is a bit that is, Oh, I feel good
inside your.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Birthday banger on zen m.
Speaker 4 (50:44):
Colin four minutes Madonna, That is your birthday banger on
zen In with Brien Clint for This Afternoon justin Tim
Blake of course on that track as well.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
That was her lead single. Was it on her one
of her albums?
Speaker 3 (51:02):
See?
Speaker 6 (51:02):
I always saw that that was a JT Timberland through
and through on JT's album.
Speaker 3 (51:07):
But no, you're right, it's literally Madonna with JT. That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (51:10):
That's when Madonna was getting with all the young ones,
wasn't she Have you.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
Seen Madonna live?
Speaker 2 (51:15):
No, I have never seen Madonna live.
Speaker 3 (51:17):
You know you really need to.
Speaker 2 (51:19):
Oh, geez, tell us what you really think.
Speaker 3 (51:23):
I was so excited to see her.
Speaker 2 (51:25):
Yeah, when did you see it?
Speaker 3 (51:26):
It was Oh, she was last home. She's in New
Zealand a couple of years ago, like eight years ago.
I didn't need that.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
Okay, an honest review from Georgia there this Afternoon.
Speaker 3 (51:40):
Sorry, I didn't say too much, but you can figut
what I'm bringing down.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
God, if she ever comes back, I know who they
won't be hiring to sell tickets to promote her.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
We love her, loves her. We just played four minutes
we love her?
Speaker 2 (51:55):
Don't you come crawling back? Are we all Spice Girls
fans in the room say I?
Speaker 3 (52:05):
I I yeap.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Ella's I guess?
Speaker 5 (52:08):
So I.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
Know that I will be shunned from the building if
I don't say yes exactly. Well, this is quite interesting
because the Spice Girls themselves have been talking about a
song of theirs recently, which I know we probably all
think one thing, but they're thinking now that it's actually
not been the truth at all. So the song I'm
(52:32):
talking about is the most iconic hit Wanna be.
Speaker 2 (52:41):
Th Huge. We've heard it a million times, haven't we
heard it a million times? Do you remember how it starts? Georgia?
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Oh good Christian?
Speaker 2 (52:51):
Do you remember the.
Speaker 4 (52:52):
Iconic laugh that kicks off the song? Let me let
me remind you of how it goes?
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Aha?
Speaker 3 (53:01):
Oh my god, it does.
Speaker 2 (53:06):
I'll tell you what I want.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
I want, Oh my god, it does.
Speaker 4 (53:12):
So here's the thing now, I'm going to ask you,
just straight off the bat that laugh?
Speaker 2 (53:16):
Who is it?
Speaker 5 (53:18):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (53:18):
That's got to be Melby?
Speaker 2 (53:20):
Right right?
Speaker 3 (53:21):
Yeah, I've always known it to be Melby.
Speaker 4 (53:22):
I think all of us universally have always thought it
was Melby.
Speaker 2 (53:27):
Scary Spice.
Speaker 3 (53:29):
Wait, can we quietly listen to it one more time?
Speaker 4 (53:32):
Haha? Melby people are now saying that they reckon it
was actually Jerry Jerry Ginger Spice, But that's.
Speaker 3 (53:43):
Quite deep and husky. Jerry didn't really have that kind
of voice, did Check.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
And not just anyone the actual Spice girls themselves, Melsey
and Emma Bunton have talked about it on a podcast,
and this is them discussing who they now believe that
iconic laugh at the start of Wannabe was.
Speaker 8 (54:03):
There's something that is debated, right, the laugh is who's
the Is it Melby or is it Jerry?
Speaker 6 (54:09):
Well, first I thought it's Melby, but then I've just
listened to it over and over again.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
I think it's Jay.
Speaker 3 (54:16):
I think it's.
Speaker 8 (54:17):
Jerry, but is convinced it's Harry, and he says, because
on the stand it's Melanie, and I'm like, it's not,
it's Jerry.
Speaker 11 (54:23):
That's Jerry.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
What do we think?
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Oh No, The first tict that's come through said it
was always Jerry.
Speaker 2 (54:30):
What is no way? What I've always thought there was
scary Spies. Can we play the song from the start?
Speaker 3 (54:36):
I think we should.
Speaker 2 (54:37):
Who has the first lines at the start of the.
Speaker 3 (54:39):
Song, because it won't be them, is what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (54:42):
I feel like it won't be because it can't go
technically from a laugh into them singing.
Speaker 6 (54:48):
Yeah, okay, so we don't have the original in our system.
Speaker 3 (54:55):
That's Melby. That's Melby, right, I'm pretty sure that's Melby.
Were bloody stinged them? We haven't even got the original on.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
Ziim so according to a lyrics page on Google, I've
just looked it up, so it says that first part
is actually three people, it's scary Spice, ginger spice, sporty spice.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
But on this.
Speaker 4 (55:23):
According to this lyrics because it has next to the
lyrics which spice girl is singing? What?
Speaker 2 (55:29):
And the laugh on this lyrics.
Speaker 4 (55:31):
Page says ginger spot this is an outrage way.
Speaker 3 (55:37):
I feel like we've been lied to, We've been had.
Speaker 2 (55:40):
Let's listen to it one more time.
Speaker 3 (55:41):
I can't hear it.
Speaker 2 (55:42):
The laugh at start to want to be who is
this which spice girl? Aha?
Speaker 3 (55:46):
Wait? Can someone pull up Jerry halliwell laughing? We need
to end.
Speaker 6 (55:51):
Also, a video of Melbe laughing. I feel like we
need to hear their laugh.
Speaker 4 (55:56):
Do we always just assume that it was Melby? I
can hear Jerry Hallewell in there.
Speaker 3 (56:02):
Okay, if you got your sorry, Jerry.
Speaker 4 (56:05):
Horner, she will always be Jerry Hallewell to us. Hey, okay,
let's go.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
To a break.
Speaker 4 (56:10):
We'll find a clip of Jerry laughing and then we'll
compare the two.
Speaker 3 (56:14):
I think we need to because this has got us
all of it.
Speaker 2 (56:17):
Lucy, We're going.
Speaker 4 (56:17):
To get to the bottom of this next. If you
missed it, we just got into the biggest Spice Girls
debate going round at the moment. Whose laugh is the
laugh at the front of the Wannabe song?
Speaker 6 (56:35):
Obviously that's the iconic song. This is the iconic laugh.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
Right at the start of Wannabe, That's how it starts.
Speaker 4 (56:42):
And I always believe that was Melby Scary Spice, like
we all did.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
Right, Yeah, it was Malby or no One pretty much.
Speaker 4 (56:50):
And now there's this huge debate going around that it
could have been Ginger Spices. Jerry Halliwell and the Spice
Girls Emma Bunton and Melanie See have weighed.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
In on it, and they think that it's Jerry.
Speaker 8 (57:03):
Now there's something that is debated, right the laugh Who's
is it Melby or is it Jerry.
Speaker 6 (57:11):
Well, first I thought it's Malby, but then I've just
listened to it over and over again.
Speaker 8 (57:16):
I think it's I think it's Jerry, but is convinced
it's Jerry, and he says because on the stand it's Melanie,
and I'm like, it's not, it's Jerry, that's Jerry.
Speaker 4 (57:26):
We've gone back and forth in the studio where we
were like, maybe it is Jerry, and then I said,
we need a comparison. We need to find both of
their laughs from somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
And then compare the two.
Speaker 4 (57:37):
Producer Claudia has found some of the laughs and now
we need to compare.
Speaker 6 (57:43):
Okay, so this is the one from the song. Okay,
this is Melby.
Speaker 4 (57:53):
I mean it's just a slower version. It does sound
like it, doesn't it.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
And then this is Derry Hallowell, what the hell?
Speaker 2 (58:05):
Play them? Play the song and then both of.
Speaker 3 (58:08):
Them song Melby.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
Jerry Jerry Melby has a little bit of a deeper,
raspier tone.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
I think it's Jerry one more time the song, and
then Jerry it's Jerry.
Speaker 3 (58:27):
What the hell, well, then we found this one that's
going around on TikTok. Someone's text to nine six nine six.
Thanks for that, Jeff.
Speaker 6 (58:33):
And it's basically a breakdown of it.
Speaker 4 (58:36):
I think Archie is kind of a Botts character if
I would.
Speaker 2 (58:40):
Say, I think I'm not riding.
Speaker 3 (58:44):
Yeah, so that's who you're here talking to. Jerry is
in fact her partner. What's his name? If one driver?
Speaker 2 (58:53):
No? No, he's not driver. No, he's the team principal.
Speaker 3 (58:57):
What's that he's like the boss like dog, yeah, dog
if one guy?
Speaker 2 (59:02):
But he got let go for red Bull anyway, this
whole other story.
Speaker 3 (59:05):
But that's kind of confirming it, is it not?
Speaker 4 (59:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (59:07):
I feel like it's confirmed it for me.
Speaker 4 (59:09):
What about you, Claude, Yeah, honestly, this has changed everything
this whole time.
Speaker 2 (59:13):
I was like, there's no need to think about it.
It's malby. I think best case sary.
Speaker 4 (59:17):
What we should do is we take the rest of
the show off, yeah, to think about it, to debate it,
you know, and just really take it in.
Speaker 6 (59:22):
Do you know what Nick's girls night end up at
a bar and the toilets.
Speaker 3 (59:27):
This might be the topic of.
Speaker 2 (59:32):
Wait is it actually Georgia? Wait Georgia go on.
Speaker 11 (59:45):
Far out as zad M's Brinklin Podcast.
Speaker 6 (59:49):
Now, Brie, I got you, and producer girl is Claude
and Ala, So just go for a wonder later on
this afternoon and you're about.
Speaker 3 (59:56):
Like what the heck is going on? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (59:58):
I was like, do we get paid for this?
Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
Well?
Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
You technically you do get paid for You literally just
dragged us outside and said, hey, can you walk? I
just want to watch how you guys walk? And I
was like, what are you on about?
Speaker 7 (01:00:10):
Now?
Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
To clarify, I wasn't looking to see if.
Speaker 6 (01:00:12):
You're pigeon toad. I was looking to see if your
feet were widespread? What's the widespread foot version.
Speaker 4 (01:00:17):
Called pedal feet, penguin feet, pinguin feet.
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
I wasn't chicking any of that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
I'd rather be penguin feet than pigeon toad.
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Same.
Speaker 4 (01:00:26):
Isn't it funny how they're both birds? I feel like
I'm half and half.
Speaker 3 (01:00:29):
Unfortunately, wait like ones and ones out, which is the worst.
Both points to the left. Yeah, now, speaking of left,
this is what I was testing. Okay, each of you
when you win on a wander, whenever you dipped off
to go away, yeah, you all turned left except olla, huh. Interesting,
(01:00:50):
And there's a study that's been done.
Speaker 6 (01:00:52):
This is humans, no matter what, if they're by themselves,
if they're in a group of people, they will always
veer to the left because it's wide in our brains
since we were little that everything good happens on the left.
Speaker 3 (01:01:08):
Everything you mean?
Speaker 4 (01:01:09):
What do you mean dastily left handers?
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
Though I had? Why didn't I go left?
Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
Are you left handed?
Speaker 3 (01:01:16):
I'm left handed? So I stuck with the norm.
Speaker 4 (01:01:18):
Do you guys not hang out at the at the
annual left handed person.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
I've bench it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
I've been BAEd.
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
That's the one I'll go to that. Have you not
been invited?
Speaker 7 (01:01:28):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
I did nesting on the weekend side night and had
to start learning on the right hand side, and it
was hard.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Did you have left handed knitting?
Speaker 3 (01:01:35):
Don't you start with me? I've been done on this
with the left handed Golf Club and a mini golf course.
Speaker 6 (01:01:42):
Not But there's a whole study that's been done researching
into people's brains and how they walk, and if you
look at people when you're out in public or do
you have a where they're going in the mall, they're
all here to the left.
Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
What's good that happens on the left, though you said
all good things happen on the left is just coming
from me? Question right, was this study done in places
where they drive on the lift? And is that how
it's wired in our brain?
Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
There was some UNI in the States, so on the
other side. Yeah, okay, there goes my theory.
Speaker 10 (01:02:12):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
But when I saw Ala.
Speaker 6 (01:02:13):
Doing because I just did it off the get go,
and I thought, Okay, they don't know what I'm doing,
They're not going to mimic me.
Speaker 3 (01:02:18):
But when Ala just went the other way, all of a.
Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
Sudden, I was like, Okay, this is ALA's a little
different munch ca and that's fine.
Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
This just confirms what we always thought.
Speaker 3 (01:02:27):
Guys.
Speaker 2 (01:02:29):
Yeah, Ella's brain is just wired a little bit differently.
Speaker 4 (01:02:35):
And we love you anyway, We love you more.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
You're with Derek Zoo leader. He can't turn.
