Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the Zadium Podcast Network. It's Fleetfahn and Haley's a
little bit of pod. Welcome to a little bit of pod.
And behind the scenes, I tell you what, there's been
some real trial and error in Shannon's kitchen. Kitchen it
would you call it a kitchen or kitchen it?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Yeah, it's a it's one one line of tile to
like be like you're in a kitchen.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Okay, that sounds more like a kitchen it to me. Yeah.
And a small apartment in Myth and Myth Manner, Myth Towns.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
It's like when you go to a hotel.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
Oh yeah, it's just an effort to show it some
sort of kitchen.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Yeah. I mean I've got like an element and an oven.
You've got I've got an oven, a one element, one
one thing. Like, okay, well that's.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Nice, all right. So behind the scenes, you've been trial
and error NonStop to get the perfect corn fretter.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Well, I thought, you know, as we've discussed quite extensively,
I tried the crock pot, and I was like, everyone
talks so much shit about crop being like I hated
it as a kid and I never had one as
a kid. So I was like, maybe the things that
people talk shit about are actually quite good. And so
I was on TikTok and I was looking up easy
recipes and I was like trying to find and I
saw someone say corn fritters and I was like, I've

(01:14):
never made them. We didn't have them as kids. I
haven't really dabbled. I said, this could be my new thing.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Are they real key with Australia thing? Corn fritters? Even
creamed corn? Is that like a thing overseas? It's got
Britain over it does well.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I thought it could be a good option for me
for brecky if I made a few and then on
the morning just like quickly hated it up.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
I tried to make some last week and oh man,
it was a fail. I went to TikTok where I
get all wear recipes, and it just was it was
like flower Central. It was not it was young.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah. For those that don't know, it's it's corn egg flowerwer.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
It makes it nice and crispy, like a nice crunchy batter.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Oh ye're nice? Well corn for it.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
My first go have cottage cheese because it's TikTok and
they put that in everything to try and make it
more filling. But that was a fail. So yesterday I
was like, you know, when it first, don't succeed, try again,
try to try to try. So I was like, I decided,
I remember, you know, recipes exist elsewhere besides TikTok, So
I googled and I found Edmunds Classic and they said

(02:23):
to get creamed corn, and I went, man, this is
this is a hurdle, man, this.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Is cream corn beet dubs native American cuisine, traditionally scraping
the milky starchy polp from raw immature corn kernels and
swimmer and then until thick.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yeah, well I got those and I put bacon in
it this time to really up and I followed the
Edmunds recipe and I think I've just come to the
conclusion I don't know what they're meant to taste like.
I don't like, I don't know if I've nailed it,
because it just kind of tastes like a nothing pancake.
There's no flavor.

Speaker 1 (02:54):
Because you've got to have relish. It's all about the
relish with Yeah, I feel like I have the corn pancake.
They are pretty bland. It's flavor that you add.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah, I don't know, well, it just kind of tastes
like nothing. But I mean I'm eating them because I've
made them. I spent the money, and corn should be sweet.
And then you're just gonna add sweet chili and a
bit of coriander or something sour cream. I mean, I
just don't do sauce full stop. Carwan knows this every
time you drink. I'm a dry girl.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Corn freds are up your alley. If you're a dry well.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
You would think. But it just kind of tastes like nothing.
And now I'm not.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Sure this is where the flavor is fletched. That's the issue. Yeah,
it is.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
Well, so if anyone's got advice, please.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I'm surprised.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
I'm just looking at the ingredients for the edmonds corn
fri as. I'm surprised it tastes like anything.

Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah, there's nothing like It's flour, nothing.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Baking powder, salt, pepper, and only the tiniest amount of
each of those One beaten egg that's just to hold
it all together, right, yeah, and one four hundred and
forty gram cream style corn.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
What about could you add some cheese?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Oh yeah, yeah, my mum puts cheese. And who's well
you said baking powder, so do own that? So I
just I didn't get that because I don't own it.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
I just didn't probably not something they sell it the
dairy were you buying?

Speaker 2 (04:11):
The thing is is I don't have a pantry, so
currently the flat I bought one bag of flower. It
lives on the bench because it has to. So I'm
not going to buy powder to put like a little sprinkle.
Did you not get self freezing far? No? They only
had all purpose Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Yeah, right, okay, Well, I think you've got to move
on to something else.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
In No, I think freeze my lucky number. I think
I should give it one. I've only used two cups
of the flower, and I bought the smallest bag possible,
which was like a kg.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
Yeah, so I've.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Still got like pretty much a whole bag of flower.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
Right, so you kind of lumped with making fritters for
the next month, I.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Think, So, I reckon, I'll nail it soon.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
We'll just add more and more salt.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
To be fair, I added chicken salt, but not salt salt,
and maybe that was I.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Love switching out salt for chicken sultan.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
And I put some mixed seasoning in it because you know,
I've been putting that on everything I own. It still
tastes like nothing.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Maybe more seasoning. Yeah, okay, well keep us up dated.
Back these sourceless, relish less corn fritters.

Kingdom of Fraud

It’s the unlikeliest of criminal partnerships: a devout polygamist from an insular Utah sect joining forces with a shadowy Armenian tycoon from LA. The result - a billion dollar fraud conspiracy. In Kingdom of Fraud, investigative reporter Michele McPhee traces the origins of the extraordinary alliance between Jacob Kingston and Levon Termendzhyan. Together, the two men trigger the largest tax investigation in American history and weave around themselves a web of dirty cops, influential political relationships and transnational money laundering. All this is set against the backdrop of Jacob Kingston’s clan – The Order. A powerful and secretive polygamist organization in Salt Lake City. To whom Jacob is desperate to prove his worth.
