Okay, So I do come from a family of gamblers.

No, only my mom's side of the family. No, they
never gambled what they didn't have. But as a kid,

you knew what you were doing, you could.

Actually I remember placing bits using the buttons on the phone.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
So to be like, if you know the race number
you want keenan now and you go, dude, dude, it's
like Race three at Flemington.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
You'd be like, Yes, that.

Speaker 1 (00:47):
Was what I can remember doing back in the days
when your parents would just give you money to go
to the diary and buy Siggy's as a six year old. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
Man, my granddad, my mom's dad, we called him Gangy.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
He loved her, loved her Fly on the Ponies and
my nand Rest in Peace lost the last year. She
wasn't afraid to, you know, drop a couple of hundred
bucks on some she was going to the races, like
you get a cash out and she'd have a float
throughout day.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
I'm so lucky that, Like, if I go to the casino,
it'll be once in a blue moon and I put
twenty bucks in loads on that. Imagine Sam, even if
I win, I'll withdraw the money and I'm out, Like
I'm never like chasing it. Yeah, yeah, me.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
I couldn't give a credit. People do, they do get dedicted.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
So we went to a bowls club with some friends
and the horse racing was on, and my oldest daughter
said like.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
How does this work?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Because it was one of those tab machines. Oh yeah,
how does this work? And I was like, well, you
put money on a horse that you think is going
to come first, second, or third, and you can bet
on it just to be first, or you can put
a bob each way and they if they place, you get.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
How does so how much money do you get?

Speaker 3 (01:55):
I said, well depending on how much money out For
every dollar, this is what it's paying if it wins.
And she's like, well, bet on this one because you'll
get the most money back. I'm like that one's also
got the least chance of winning from you know, cute names.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
Yeah that was Halley's comment. Yeah, oh yeah, I'm gonna
get in there. So I said.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
She wasn't able to touch the machine, so she watched
me do it, and then she got to put the
horse and she put the first race the name she liked.
I can't remember the name, but she put the name
she likes. Unfortunately, it won.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
No, her first lesson in gambling had to be losing.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yes, that's what she wanted the first lesson in gambling
to be. So I was like, okay, so we put
a dollar on and it was paying like ten to one,
so we got ten. No, and she's like, we've got
a bit again and I.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Was like, no, this is the where we win. And
she's like, but ten into one hundred and I was like,
what have you done?

Speaker 3 (02:52):
I know?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I was like, this is exactly what they want you
to think. And she's like this is so easy. I'm like, no,
it's not. Guess what she won again the horship.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
In the second race, we put five dollars each way
and it came second. So again, oh no, we got
more money back.

Speaker 2 (03:08):
She's going to think you always win. Yeah, yeah, you
don't always won.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
So then in the third race, she's just like, I'll
just we we took one dollar and made it ten,
and then we just took ten and we've made it twenty.
She's like, this is why are we doing this every day?
And that was in the third race where there was
one horse called like Winner's Delight, and she's like, well, obviously.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
That's gonna win. I was like, well, how much do
you want to put on it?

Speaker 3 (03:34):
And she's like all of them, all of that, no,
all of that. So we put twenty dollars, ten dollars
each way on Winner's Delight to place first, second or third.
It was like third favorite. So I'm like, you know,
could win, could play, didn't And she was just like, well,
where's the money go. I'm like it's yours and she's
like where has it gone? To the racing agency? And

she's like how what?

Speaker 2 (03:57):
I was like, it was all imaginary. I was like,
the only thing.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
Of this that's real because we left it in the
system was the one dollar we initially put in.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
Yeah. Everything else was just yeah. And she's like, oh,
we've got to do it again. No, no, no, no no,
And I was like.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
Oh my god, I just I was like, no, this
isn't wow, that's Was there a good life lesson?

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Yeah? Well I think it was the fact that we
got up to the dizzy and heights of twenty yeah. Yeah, yeah,
and they lost at all the house always when the house.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
These places wouldn't exist if they didn't make no charity dollars.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
They wouldn't have a member of parliament. Yeah, if they
weren't making money.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
So yeah, that was a nice little lesson in gambling there.
So right, we're off to the consent on next weekend.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Oh yeah, you're gonna get right into the black.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
And I mean, we say this, but are we still
buying a lot of tickets this way? Got we're in
our syndicate twenty three million.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Yeah, look after each other, look after each other lovely.
I'm not going to have you on my yacht. Was
wearing you know, scary clothes or anything, and you'll need
a dress.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
Then I'll give you a bit of money, okay, yeah,
something mellion and then you had to dress wo and
to go on your yacht in Italy.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Yeah, he wouldn't like it. No, we're not wearing those
boat shirt. She's not coming on my boat.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Give me some Italian crocs, loafers, Italian loafers, crocs, a
loaf or a.

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Burken stock, okay, stock and crocs. Crocs can get wet,
some rubber crocks.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Yeah, we'll get some Italian crocs and a full length
shirt on you please flip.

Speaker 2 (05:37):
Oh well, you can't shot as midriff. No full length
sleeve midriff goes without saying thank you
