Speaker 1 (00:00):
From the Zedium Podcast Network, it's Fletchborn and Hayley's Little
Bit of Pod.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Welcome to A Little Bit of Pod. And wow, look
at that, the trusty aqua.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
I know.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Karlyn's trusty aqua that she got after her last aqua
was used in a ram raid. During that... Remember the
height of ram raids?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
And the height of Aquas being the most stolen vehicle.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah, because where did your one end up? In a dairy.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
You know what? It was actually abandoned on the side
of the road, but I think it went for a dairy,
but it got stopped by those bollards. Yes. And that's
why they knew it was used in a ram raid,
because the bollards lined up on the car.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Perfectly.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
We love.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
So good.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
So... Because we messaged the other day, we were all
having a bit of a mirror of a day. Things
were falling apart left, right and centre. And you were like, God,
this is on top of my absolute car nightmare. And
then Vorni asked, what was the car nightmare? I assumed
another ram ride.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
No, thankfully not. Touch wood, this is maybe wood.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
This desk.

Speaker 2 (00:57):
I think there's wood under the layer.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Go under.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Touch wood. I turned my car on that morning and
we drive in the dark as many people would figure
out considering we're on here quite early and only one light.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
Only one light.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
How do you know?

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Get the song, Vaughan.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Get the song from Bob Dylan's son.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
I want that one light. You want it. It's one light.
That's green light. That's Lorde.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
No, this is One Headlight from the Wallflowers. An absolute classic.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
You old people have a song for everything.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
Jacob Dylan. Was that his name?

Speaker 2 (01:33):
Yeah, Jacob Dillon.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
I love Bob Dylan.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
He looks exactly like his dad. And do you think
his dad was like, you pop sellout?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Yeah. Do you think he was?

Speaker 3 (01:40):
Fucking yes.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Yeah, I'm one of the greatest musicians in the fucking
world and you come out with this? I mean, I
love the song.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
You need me making poetry, boy. Oh, this song. Yeah,
this song.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
This is One Headlight by the Wallflowers. Yeah, Bob Dylan's son,
Jacob Dylan.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Oh, I do like this song.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
Do you know, I remember when I did have a
car and I had one headlight and it had to
get fixed and it was a rigmarole. You notice so
many other cars with one headlight.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Wing King.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
You don't see it anymore as much anymore.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
No, you do.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
When I was a kid, every car had one headlight.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
No, you do.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
And you're like, motorcycle, and you're like, whoops.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
I'm a car.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Whoops, clip them.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Whoops, got ya.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
No.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Well, so I was like, okay, we've got to sort
this out. I do some Googling when I get to work,
and it says that you can just go to Super
Cheap Auto.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
Yeah, you can just get a bulb, replace it yourself. Nice,
it's like $ 30.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
I walk in and quite often, last time I went
in for window wipers, I actually got my... cleavage out.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
And I said, can you help me.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Put it on?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
He was like pushing his like quite like lean chest together.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Do you know the funniest part? I genuinely was like, wow,
this is the first time I need to like ask
for a man's, a strange man's help. As an engaged woman,
do I take my ring off?

Speaker 3 (02:46):
Oh, yeah. But anyways, I didn't need to.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I walked in. The guy was lovely. And he's like,
can you just wait a couple of minutes? Hang on,
hang on.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Sorry, sorry, sorry.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
There could be something better than in the middle. Me
and Cinderella, we'd put it all together and drive it home.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Here it is, here it is, here it is.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
One headlight, that's you. It's crazy you said, let's listen
to the song and then you all millennial mumbled over
the whole fucking one of that.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
I think it made it more enjoyable. Shannon, you're wrong,
this is what the people want.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
But why is he romanticising one headlight? I don't get it.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Just like, we don't need fucking anything, man. Beat up car.
It's just you and me, baby. That's what matters.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Okay, well, I need more than one headlight. And so
I went to Supercheap Auto, and the guy was like, yep,
he's just on his 10-minute break. Just have a little browse,
and we'll grab you.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Perfect.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Give him the keys. He goes to my car, comes back,
and I'm like, amazing. Wait a second.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
They do it anyway?

Speaker 2 (03:43):
I got my tits out.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
For nothing.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
They just do it?

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Maybe my legs were out.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
And then he comes back, and I'm like, thank you
so much.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
And he's like..

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Actually got bad news for you. And I was like, no,
you don't. Take that back.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
It turns out that.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
My lovely Japanese import car, so brand new to me,
first New Zealand owner, but not overseas, had decided to
give it a little aftermarket look. upgrade a little tweak
and the lights in there are actually extremely expensive lights
for some reason and completely rewired so uh it has
like this converter thing in it an hd something converter

(04:19):
so um super cheap water can't do that they can't
find the cables you.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Have to go to an actual proper dude.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
And i went any recommendations because i don't have a
car guy you know what i mean And he was like, oh,
Toyota's just around the corner. And I was like, you
know what? That sounds like a safe bet.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
It's so elite having a car and taking it to
the car.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Place to get done.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
When you go to Mazda and you take it to
Mazda to get service, get a Toyota, take it to Toyota.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
To get service. Until you're standing there and they go,
where'd you buy the car? And I go, budget cars. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
My neighbor's daughter.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
From Japan. No budget cars. This lovely guy comes out
of Toyota. He's like, let me have a look. Turn
on the car, blah, blah, blah. And he goes, yeah,
I can't see the wires. So we're going to need
to run a diagnostic before we can even tell.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
You how much it's going to cost us. Cool, cool.
We love a diagnostic. We love a diagnostic.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
How much is a diagnostic, you ask? Oh, $ 274. This
is getting shit, mate.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
So they're going to do that tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
And then they're going to, I guess, call me and
be like, it's going to cost you this much in
labor and the bulb.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Just for a fucking bulb. Just do it.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
How much was the bulb going to be?

Speaker 3 (05:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
I hadn't asked.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Why don't you strap like an LED light to it?

Speaker 1 (05:25):
A torch.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
A chargeable USB thing.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Great idea.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Strap that on.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
Two lights. Honestly, at this point, I'm just like, you
know what? Give it a service. Clean the headlight. The
plastic of it has gone quite yellow. And he went,
those are quite yellow. How did it pass them off?
And I went, I don't know. It did it a
couple of weeks ago. Yeah. So I'm just going to
be like, you know what? Can you just fully fix
everything wrong in the car? And I'll just huck it
on a credit card and hope for the best.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
That's the way to live. That's living, baby.

Speaker 2 (05:50):
And I tell you what, it's going to look bloody
bright and crystal clear careening towards a dairy at 4am.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
You've got to see what's in the shop before you
know what you want. Well, yeah, it sucks. We'll start
a fundraiser, give a little or something like that.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
I can't believe this is Bob Dylan's son.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
It's about perseverance through loss, disillusionment and the death of
ideas rather than a literal story about a broken car. Okay,
so nothing to do with Carlin's car.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Not really.
