Speaker 1 (00:07):
Welcome to a medium bit of pod.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Medium.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Tis not a big pod, tis not a little bit
of pod.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
So for those that don't know, there is no big
pod today. If you've noticed, it's not in the feed.
That is because today we're doing a fundraiser for the
Cancer Society with the ANZ Donation Station. It's an outside broadcast.
And the whole day is just about raising money. And
it's not a podcast.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
Nah, it's a lot of moving parts. Probably won't translate well.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
So we saw this on the horizon and we thought
we'd just say, what do you guys want to talk about? Yeah,
kind of an ask us anything. And we've got some questions.
Question box. Okay. Do you think it's fair if the
coach of the kids' sports team picks their own kid
as player of the year?

Speaker 3 (00:50):
Well, Vaughn, you can speak to this.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I didn't even give my daughter a player of the day. Yeah, good.
Because I was worried that.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Was she ever the player of the day in your
subjective eyes?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
If you honestly awarded player of the day, there'd be
about three kids who would get it every week. Yeah, right.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Of course.

Speaker 1 (01:07):
But it's not about that. It's about everybody. And you
really struggle with some kids to be like.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
What could they possibly be rewarded for?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
I really tried.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
And nowadays you just didn't get it because the two,
three kids that were really good at cricket or rugby
got it.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Yeah, and then if you weren't good enough, you were told,
you're not good enough, try harder.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yeah, which is now why everyone in the workplace is like,
but I was told I was great and amazing.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
What do you mean? Well, newsflash, dipshit, you suck.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
You actually suck.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
You're lucky to be here. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
No, but what do you do? So every week, do
you have to pick someone and just make up a
reason they were good?

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Yeah. But hang on, you fuck that. But then halfway
through the season, I just stopped doing it. And they'd
be like, who's player of the day? I was like,
I don't know. I've fallen behind. And someone who won
last time was supposed to bring a bag of lollies,
and that whole chain fell apart. So forget about it.
Don't get hung up on player of the day.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
So you've sucked the sort of little bit of joy
they had out of it.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Yep, the joy should be in the winning. Do you
still get a McDonald's cheeseburger? No.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Do you remember when they infiltrated the all-kids sports?

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Little voucher for player of the day, got a cheeseburger.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
Yeah, it was like a little red and white. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
And it was numbered so you couldn't photocopy it.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, no, no, that's your cheeseburger of the day.

Speaker 2 (02:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
If you were lucky, Mum and Dad would take you
straight there afterwards.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
That was like some retro museum. Were they putting them
in some sort of central McDonald's computer to make sure
no one was photocopying? I doubt it, eh? I doubt it. No,
I think it was an official printed thing. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
But that just reminds me of that McDonald's. Oh, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Awarded players enter their unit code directly into the My
Maccas app to claim their award now. Oh, so they
still do it.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
Still a thing.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Oh, amazing.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Good on them.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
That's great.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
God, I want a cheeseburger today.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Like everything. Harder to... Rip it off.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
No ripping things off these days. Okay, so we've covered that. No,
don't think it's fair. Especially player of the year. Hayley's
new relationship. That's all it says.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Go.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
Um, okay. I, um, what do they want to know
about it? I've got a boyfriend.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
That's what they just said.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Hey, his name is Mike and we met on an
app and we said we are not going to be
in a relationship. Let's just physically join our genitals. And then..

Speaker 1 (03:19):
That was romantic, wasn't it?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, full romance. Would you like to physically join genitals?

Speaker 1 (03:23):
That's the only way I refer to it. Okay. Would
your mouth like to physically interact with my genitals?

Speaker 3 (03:29):
My genitals, that kind of stuff.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
My mouth can interact with your genitals.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Okay. My mouth might interact with some other bits while
it's in the area. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
I mean, I did a show. I did a show
about being out and going on dates for a year
and at the end I talk about it. And then
we had a really amazing connection and I fought it
for ages because I was like, no, fuck that.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
I'm not doing it.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I was like, no, no, no, no, no. And then
my therapist told me to calm down. She was like,
just go off the fucking flow.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Are you happy?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Are you having fun? And I was like, I'm really happy.
And now we spend all of our time together, and
we went to Bali. We've been to Europe, and he's lovely,
and he's very nice. He's normal.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
He was, because can you remember when she was fighting it,
she was like, there's plenty more fish in the sea
that I've got to suck off. That's what she said.
I said, I don't think that's quite the saying. I
was like, what about.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Sucking off all these loser other fish?

Speaker 1 (04:18):
I've got to suck off so many fish.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
But no.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
That's it. His name's Mikey's lovely.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
He's a lovely boy. He's a good boy. Fletch, what
are your top three travel tips? Oh, okay.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Actually, we've got to, on this, we've got to stop
telling people that I've got an eSIM referral because they've
stopped doing it.

Speaker 1 (04:37):
On Jetpack. That app stopped doing it. No, so they're
not doing it. But they always have.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Like, I still recommend the app because Hayley and I
have used it travelling a lot.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
I'm still also recommending my Wise card. Oh, yeah, okay.
My referral card. I've had two this week.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Have you?

Speaker 1 (04:51):
One more. If they load some credit on, I'll smith
these in line for $ 130.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
No, look.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
I'm literally on Jetpack here. Get $ 10 off your next pack.
Invite a friend to unlock your reward. They get $ 5 off.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Your referral code.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
You've done too many. H-A-Y-4-8-8-B-U.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Okay, well, you know what?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Message Hayley because when I went into the app the
other day when people were asking me.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Oh, don't message me. I'm not going to read it. H-A-Y-4-8-8-B-U.
That's your code.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
I couldn't find where the code was.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
It just came up when I opened the app.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Oh, because if you don't have that, it's not a
fucking code.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
You miss out, mate. He gets wise.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
I get Jetpack.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Okay, my travel tips. I take my pillow everywhere in
a compression sack.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
You know what he does, but the moment you get
a crook neck on a two-week holiday..

Speaker 1 (05:30):
How do you suck the air out of the compression sack?
You roll it up tight, like a... have it on
my knee.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
I'll roll it up real tight and then put it
between my legs.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
It's ick, by the way. And sheath it. Oh, it's ick.
It's ick.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
It's so ick.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
Oh, wait, wait.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
One more other ick. No, go, go, go.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
And then you ram it and you sheath it.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
And you have to like, it is a bit of
a toughie. So your number one tip for travelling is
ram it in. Ram it in. Ram it in. And
sheath it good. Ram it in, sheath it, ram it in.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
Do you know the other ick with Fletch that I
never knew and I went to Europe this year and
we were on the same flights heading to Europe and
heading back. He BYOs his own fucking pyjamas.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Oh, yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:10):
And they're not pyjamas like I got into, like, a
more comfy T-shirt and a pair of loose shorts.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
They're proper pyjamas.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
They're, like, long-sleeved shirts on top.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
They were, like, three pyjamas on the plane.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
They're, like, soft cotton gym jams.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
I got them once when I had an upgrade on Qantas,
and I kept them.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
And he still wears them.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
So if airlines, Nick said the pyjamas. No, some still
do them. In business.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
But he BYOs and then he ponces around in his
little PJs.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
And it's so great because then you put your, but
even if I didn't have those, I would have always
have a spare t-shirt to change into.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
At least four pairs of undies because you may shit
yourself on one leg.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Also, you've got to, you've got to, if you're going
to do the pillow thing in the compression sack, you've
got to tie the compression sack to the handle of
your suitcase and So when you're packing, you're like, oh,
what's this?

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Oh, my pillow goes in there. And you don't leave
it on the fucking bed like I did once. Yeah,
that's a great tip. Good tip. Those are all good tips.
And Fly Business, is that another one of your tips?
That's a great tip, Vaughn, if you can get an upgrade. Absolutely.
Fly Business. Hot tip. I don't really know what my..

Speaker 3 (07:16):
You're good. You gave me lots of tips because I
get excited about you do a schedule and you do
like a sleep schedule of aligning where you're going to land.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
There's a good app for it.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
And then one of his things was like not drinking
that much on the plane.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
But it's free.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
I was like, but it's free. I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
I know, and Hayley gets excited. There's an app called
Time Shifter, I think it's called. You get the first
trip free, and it will tell you if you're going far.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Away like– When to try and sleep. When to try
and get sleep.

Speaker 2 (07:45):
So when you get to that destination, you can use
some melatonin and you'll be right as rain. Okay, so
that's another tip. God, you're giving all the tips. TripIt
would be my number one tip.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Oh, yes, he got me on there.

Speaker 2 (07:56):
Hayley was doing her fucking spreadsheets this year. I was like,
what are you going to open up Excel in the
middle of Paris and be like, oh, column B, 940,
get this train.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Let's put it all in TripIt.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
It's the best app.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
T-R-I-P-I-T. Yeah, TripIt.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
It's really good.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
We've actually got a listener to the pod called Trip
D who regularly messages us. Trip D on Trip It.
Trip It is great. Everything's, all your bookings, your maps.
It's just amazing. Because you just.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Have an email and you just like forward it to
this email and then it's just on your app.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
You forward all of your itineraries and it sucks them
in and makes it an itinerary.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Good tips. Yeah, I think those would be my big tips.
More questions. Mart says, love the behind the scenes stuff.
Who sings this little pole theme song? Claire. Claire.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
That was close.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
She does the station voicing. I think she was just
in there.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
Yeah, that's Claire.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Her name's Claire. I don't know what other behind-the-scenes stuff.
She's still got a station voice. She's the one that
does those. She's great.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Who was it in the office that didn't know that?

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Sophie, who's a child. Sophie is a baby. And possibly
born in the mid-2000s and somehow is at work.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
When we do Shannon's Hack and we do our version
of Shannon's Hack. She was like, I wish that was
on Spotify.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
And we looked at each other and we were like,
that particular version, and we said, you know that's the
song Love Shack by the B-52s. News to her. Can
you please play a little bit of Love Shack?

Speaker 3 (09:21):
And we won't Shannon's Hacks ever.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
What's her other great song? Rock Lobster. Oh, Rock Lobster.
I heard Love Shack in the wild in the supermarket,
and I sung Shannon's Hacks along to it.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
I can't hear Dirty Little Secret without thinking Silly Little Poo.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, yeah, totally. Totally ruined that for everybody as well.
Great song. No, no, no. This is the original. So good.
It's a great song. Classic. 15 miles to the love shack.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
Love shack, baby. So good.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
It's a great song. Classic. Absolute classic. So that's that question.
They've got no other questions about the behind-the-scenes stuff. Is
there any behind-the-scenes stuff?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
The number one we always get is, do you always
sing the fact of the day? We answered this at
our recent Ask Us Anything.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Someone worked it out that when one of us is
away or broadcasting from somewhere else, it's a pre-recorded one.
Other than that, it's live all the time. What else
do people want to know? What were your lives like
before working breakfast radio? Do you miss life with normal hours? Yes.
It's hard. It is. Yes.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Life, but also like it, There is a sense of
accomplishment that you do get when you've finished your day early.
There's more hours to the day. Still never enough.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Never enough.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
Nah, it's fucked me physically for sure. It's like constant
jet lag. Yeah, you feel sick your whole life.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
And even if you do get enough sleep and you
look after yourself, it's still hard.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
It's still hard. It's just not right.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Your body just knows you're not supposed to get up.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
That takes me back to the seven types of rest
and seven types of tired. Oh, you're born and found
a new book? I'm going to read this book. What
is it called? I'm going to read this book. Seven
types of sleep. I don't know exactly what the book's called,
but Seven Types of Rest by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith. She
said seven types of rest goes beyond sleep. So there's
physical rest. This is what we have when you go
to sleep. You need a lot of that. Mental rest.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Just taking your mind off.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
A racing brain needs short breaks every two hours during
the workday or writing down thoughts before bed. Offload the
mental so you can rest. Sensory rest is overloading from
bright lights, loud noises, and screens by unplugging. Creative rest
is just going into nature and enjoying art or music
and not feeling the need to produce. Emotional rest stops

(11:36):
people pleasing and allows you to express your true feelings
safely without projecting an artificial front.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Social rest separates you from draining relationships and prioritizes supportive,
positive people who uplift you. And spiritual rest connects you
to a deep sense of purpose, belonging, or something larger
than yourself through prayer, nature, or community service.

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Like bigger thoughts, big worldly thoughts. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
I always get that when I go into nature. I
was saying just, we were talking about our oranges. I
was sitting in the orange tree. I was like, isn't
this amazing? Underneath the orange tree or in it? Well,
it's kind of underneath but in because it's a lot
of orange. It kind of envelops you. Yeah, and you
can stand in and you kind of look around and
the light comes in kind of scattered and you're like,
that light, the soil.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
But then you'll get dunked and you'll be like, fuck this.
Fuck this. I was having a nice moment.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
But it's tough because on the odd occasion you're up
late for a concert or something and you see people
having dinner.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
I fucked it by doing comedy as well at the
arse end of the day. Are you sure? But I'm
on some non-addictive sleeping pills.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Let's see. I've been telling you for how long you
need sleep. I know. Christ.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Steph says, what's Vaughn's tattoo of and how did his
mum react? It was a fun night. It was a
fun night. That tattoo is a 20-sided dice that you
use in tabletop gaming primarily.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
Nerd.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Dungeons and Dragons. And it's to represent the people that
I played Dungeons and Dragons with because they are very
good friends of mine and were very important and supportive
to me through my early stages of separation.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
And you weren't sure you were going to get it
right because you were going to be a no-tattoo guy.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
And then post-separation.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
When something major changes, you kind of re-evaluate a lot
of things. So I was just like, fuck it, why not? Well,
I'm a tattooed virgin. Nothing is going in or on
my body. In your body?

Speaker 3 (13:21):
What are you up to this afternoon?

Speaker 1 (13:24):
He's a top. Hayley, I told you that in absolute confidence.
I haven't heard what you're doing. Oh, yes, my man.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
What a fucking Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
What a big deal on a Wednesday this guy's got.
Someone isolate this audio and you'll be able to work
out what Fletcher's doing this afternoon. Threesome. You'll have to
use decoding.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Jesus.

Speaker 1 (13:45):
Yeah, you tatted it. It was quite fun because we
were a little boozy, like sensible.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
And a tattoo artist was at a party at my house,
and we were just like, fuck it, let's go.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Let's go on this party.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
He'd lay on my couch, and we'd love it. It
was so fun.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Yeah, it was. Good memory. Mum was fine. I explained it.
what it meant.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
And she was like, Oh, you've been through enough. She
wasn't going to.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
Have, Christine wasn't going to join the pile on. Um,
when's Haley releasing her special on Netflix? Do you know?

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Okay. You don't just release a special on Netflix. You,
it's a process, but I am genuinely, I filmed this.
This is my favorite show that I've ever made. And
I filmed it, uh, the second time I'd ever done
it in Wellington at the opera house. And, And I
panicked and I missed bits. And it wasn't my favourite show.

(14:42):
Good show, but it wasn't my favourite. And then I've
toured it since then. So I'm re-filming it soon. I'm
going to re-film it in Auckland very soon.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
So some comeback shows maybe.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Comeback shows maybe. TBC. And then I'm going to release
it in some form. I mean, you don't just get
a Netflix special.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
They have to buy it, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
But I will release it and it will be available
to watch online at some point.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
Well, those are the questions.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Love, love the questions.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Love that.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
I've got some questions.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Do you?

Speaker 3 (15:11):
No, no, no, just love.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Big Pod will be back on Monday, and a little
bit of Pods continue.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Over the weekend.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Stunning stuff.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
This has been a medium bit of Pod.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
Nailed that, didn't you?

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Yeah, smooth. Nailed it smooth.

Speaker 2 (15:24):
Professional.
