Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's on the Sunday, guys?

Speaker 2 (00:08):
Sunday. Yeah. It's Sunday?

Speaker 1 (00:10):
Yeah. What day is Sunday?

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Sunday. It's Father's Day?

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Father's Day. Father's Day. What day is Father's Day, Zoe?

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Sunday.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Oh, I don't know. Anyway, I've come up with an
opportunity for you, a business opportunity, Jerry. This is a
pitch for you. I'll be taking a cut. But don't worry,
we'll be lining your pockets too. I've been starting to
get served ads ahead of Father's Day and the ads
are all around the same theme. The theme is you've
forgotten to get anything for your dad for Father's Day.

(00:42):
Chances are you might not live near your dad and
it's already too late to send something to him, you know,
for example. Where my dad lives, you actually can't buy
piss online. Yeah, you have to go in physically and
show your ID because there are some members of their
society that are exempt from buying alcohol.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Does he live in Australia?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
He lives in Australia.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Gotcha.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
He lives in the outback in Western Australia.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
I know what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
There are certain communities that aren't allowed to buy piss there,
so you can't buy. Otherwise, Dad, I would have bought
you a bottle of bourbon this Father's Day.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Seems fair.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
I'm preemptively getting ahead of the fact that I've not
got him anything. Pagan ritual anyway. The ads I'm being served, hey,
you've forgotten to get your dad something. You're not going
to be able to send something physical to him. Why
don't you get a message from one of your favorite
athletes or actors or celebrities and send them that for
their Father's Day? Liquor halosema got served to me yesterday.

(01:35):
There's a bunch of like the Warriors and All Blacks
and things like that that are on there. I think
we talked about these last year, but the like Swish
and all these different companies where you can pay someone
to get a message from them. I was showing my
missus yesterday. She goes, I reckon someone would pay. She goes,

(01:55):
how much do people pay? And I was like, I
can be anywhere from like 20 bucks all the way
up to like three, $ 400. She goes, I reckon there'd
be a meathead out there who would pay for you
to just give them a little, Oh, Hey, uh, Pete
told me that you've been hit in a bad slice.
Make sure that you fix that and have a good
and happy Father's Day. I wouldn't do that. But, Jerry,

(02:16):
people would pay for you. So here's an opportunity for you.
Get on Swoosh and charge.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
Well, I'm just going on this.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
I mean, how long would it take to do one
of those, like 30 seconds?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Yeah, I reckon.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Hey, your flatmate told me you haven't been doing the
dishes long. enough um so make sure that you do
the dishes anyway jerry here uh happy father's day man
and keep it up thanks for tuning in i've.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
Just gone on to swish now spelt in a really
really weird way swysh why does it have a y
yep and it's got the pricings of new zealand i've
gone into the new zealand legend section a bit presumptive
and well i mean there's i think it just had
like overseas people and there.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Are oh that's right that guy segment section can you
go on that one uh Could you go into the
I remember him section?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
So you've got to obviously put your name down to
allow people to be able to come in and do this.
I wonder how much these people each make. I'm just
having a look now.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Because you can see how much they're charging.

Speaker 2 (03:16):
So who's Andrew Durant? He's $ 38.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Soccer player.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
He's $ 38. Is he? Carlos Spencer, how much would you
pay for a message?

Speaker 1 (03:28):
I've heard of him. Now, is he holding a chocolate
confectionary while wearing undies and a bathrobe?

Speaker 2 (03:37):
No, he's not, but he is in a singlet.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Oh, singlet?

Speaker 2 (03:44):
$ 150. $ 126.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Okay, not far off. Now, I reckon for $ 400 he
would chuck the old bathrobe back on. And get a
toffee pop going.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
I mean, would you pay more for Carlos Spencer's personalised
message on Father's Day or Andrew Merton's?

Speaker 1 (04:00):
Oh, now this one, this is an age-old debate. This
divided the nation for decades, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (04:04):
It did.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
This depends on whether you're from the North or South Island,
I think. For me, Andrew Merton's. I'm going to need
him to grow the sideburns back.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
In, though.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
And for that, I'll pay $ 300.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Well, I'm going to tell you something interesting. They're both
the same price.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
$ 126. That is really going to divide the nation.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Christian Callan's at $ 126.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yep, reasonable. But this is the thing. So how long
are these messages? Like a minute, 30 seconds? You've got
an hour every day. You could just sit down and
blast out 60 of these suckers. You charge people $ 100.
What's 60 times 100? Six grand. There's no way. Now
I'm taking half of that, all right? I'm taking half
of that, but. You're also making.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
$ 3, 000. There's not that many people that would ever do it.
I mean, I'm looking. So how much? Sean Johnson. Oh,
Sean Johnson.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Okay. What are we talking for Sean Johnson?

Speaker 2 (04:54):
$ 376, 000. $ 376, 000? Yep.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
$ 376, 000.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, okay. $ 376, 000.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Now, Mark Tukey, former Warrior, used to famously drive a Mini.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Off the back fence.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Will he do the video from the Mini? $ 76, 000. 76?

Speaker 1 (05:13):
How are they picking these numbers?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
All right, split the difference. 76, 376. Let's call it
220 for Gerry. Get in touch.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah, I reckon I'm more in the Ronnie Clark category,
which is 63.

Speaker 1 (05:23):

Speaker 2 (05:28):
So Father's Day coming up on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Oh, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Sunday is Father's Day, and I just think I'd probably
take it upon myself to issue a... Stark warning to
any prospective fathers or new fathers, fathers who are experiencing
their first Father's Day.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Do you consider people who own pets and refer to
them as their children to be fathers?

Speaker 2 (05:54):
They're fur babies. Yeah. No. I think what generally happens
is with anyone who has a pet and then thinks
of it like their child, as soon as they have
a child, that pet falls by the wayside very, very quickly. Discarded. Yep.
Super quick. But I've got a stark warning for new dads,
and that warning is Father's Day is coming up on Sunday.

(06:17):
What day? Be bloody careful. Be careful.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
What do you mean be careful? Isn't this a day
to celebrate fathers and let them do with that day
what they will?

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Be careful with this one.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Why would you have to be careful on a day
that's all about celebrating you as a father? This is
the thing. And the contributions that you make to your
family and the sacrifices you make.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
It's not actually about Father's Day. Father's Day has a relationship,
much deeper relationship to Mother's Day than what you would think.
And what I would say as a father, my advice
to you is when things are offered to you for
Father's Day, go out for the day, go and do things,
whatever those offers are, turn them down. Turn them down.

(07:03):
My advice is to new fathers... As a father who's
been through 16 Father's Days now, say, no, I'm not
celebrating Father's Day. It's not about that for me. That's
my advice. Dismiss it.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Why? What happens when you take them up on it?

Speaker 2 (07:18):
The problem is what you're setting yourself up for is
a massive Mother's Day. And the larger you go on
Father's Day... The larger Mother's Day is going to be.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
I've got you.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
And those expectations are going to be set around your
Father's Day.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
Are you saying there's an element of scorekeeping involved in
fathering and mothering days?

Speaker 2 (07:37):
How could I say that? How could I say that?

Speaker 1 (07:40):
As a father. Does Mother's Day come first? I suppose
it doesn't matter. So you're saying it's like an ODI
where you're technically the first innings. If you go out
and set two big a total, they then need to
go out and chase that down.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Play conservatively. That's all I'm saying. I'm saying play every
ball on its merits, but leave balls outside the off stump.
Don't go flashing at balls outside the off stump. Don't
go trying to set.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
What if there's a half tracker that you want to
dispatch over the boundary?

Speaker 2 (08:13):
Just guide it to a fielder. Just guide it gently
to a... Get bad on ball, but guide it gently
to a fielder.

Speaker 1 (08:20):
Why? What are the differences between Mother's Day and Father's Day?

Speaker 2 (08:23):
I'm not here to spell out the differences, but fathers
who have been through this will know what I'm talking
about here. They will agree with me. Just play it
with a dead bat. Play it safely. Play it conservatively.
Play it down.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
But don't throw your wicket away.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Don't throw your wicket away. Don't disregard it completely, but just.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Don't set too high a score to chance.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Here's what I would say to the kids. I'd say... Look,
a card would be lovely, but I don't expect it.
Just a call.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
Just a text. What about your name written out in
pieces of macaroni glued to a piece of paper with PVC?

Speaker 2 (08:58):
I mean, if you really have to. But look, do
I want to go out and do things? No, let's
just take it easy. All right? It's not about me.
It's about the family.
