Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Hurdarchey Breakfast thanks to Bunning's trade build Big Rewards
with new power pass pro rewards by Bunnings Rye and Midnight.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
The Hodarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
Welcome along to the Hidarchey Breakfast. The last day of
Bear Andpie July, the thirty first of July twenty twenty six.
My name's Jeremy Wells. This is Manias Stewart.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
I would like to leave a little bit of distance
between these two subjects. But it is also the last
day that it is legal to race your dog. So
if you've been eyeing up your neighbor's dog and thinking,
I reckon, my dog would have that dog two days
the last day you're allowed to race those things. Yeah,
the dog racing, she's all over for young and old.
And I had an idea we should probably we should
spankle our money on the dogs today.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
How many races are there are? Are they going out
with a bang or are they quietly squibbing out because
I think that we should go out with a bit
of a bang.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
I think so, so they're probably not going out with
a bang anytime we're on the radio this morning. But
also I think most of the dog things in Australia anyways,
it's I'm going to affect your gambling account.

Speaker 1 (01:03):
I have to ask the question, does anyone ask the
dogs what they want to do? I haven't because you've
got to say for the greyhound breed itself, for that
particular breed, cothmicity just curtains. It's all over.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
It's a genocide. Call it by any other name, it's
a genocide. And I just wanted to make sure that
people understand that they won't be put into pies. Okay,
so that's one need a distance bearing page of life
from the end of the dogs, I.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
Guess the greyhounds losses. The kavoodle's gain is.

Speaker 3 (01:32):
It is an any any any oodle variant, to be honest,
it's very popular at the moment. And also the duction, yeah,
duction the sausage dog. Are there a lot of those
at the lot of those at the moment really haven't it?
And and every time I see a vet sees one
of those moving into the neighborhood, they start looking their lips.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
Though here we go, oh the back yeah, hind legs.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Perhaps they start calling people about putting polls in the
backyard when they said that its poor buggers.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
I'll tell you what they're good. They're going down a hole.
They'll go after a stove. They'll get a ferret down
a hole. Don't worry about that.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
Jerry and Mini the Hodikey Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
I'll tell you what's going on. It's the last day
of greyhound racing in New Zealand today and Addington Raceway
the final meeting at Addington Raceway. They have got is
it thirteen races on ten it's fifteen, actually fifteen races
on today and all of them are thanks to different things.

(02:36):
For example, at eleven fifty five there's the thank you
to all the track staff Sprint four five hundred dollars
race there's the thank you Andy McCook sprint. That's race two.
It's at eleven past twelve. Race three at twelve to
twenty seven is thank you all the track side presenters.
Dash I see Homebush Lenin is a favorite. Matt As

(03:01):
rip sling A Birdie is looking pretty good as well.
Ripslinger Birdie won his last race. Thank you to all
the track side crew. That's RaSE four. Now this is
an interesting one, so obviously someone has got in touch
with the people at Addington. Raise five is happy twenty
first birthday, Blake McKinny steaks the only time it'll ever

(03:21):
be run. Yeah, I'm gonna put some money on number
one starting over. Actually, actually number two WIRs Wally looks
quite good. Owned by de Voice I'd find though, owned
by de Voice Devoice.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
Oh is that a joke?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
I do.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
You know what's cool about getting your greyhound though, is
because we're in the market for a second dog at
one point, and we were looking at greyhounds because they
sleep for twenty hours a day, eight in to twenty
hours a day. And my son saw this greyhound that
he really liked. Her name was Connie, and the person
that was given the crown away said, you know what,
go on YouTube look at Connie the greyhound.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
You can look at all their.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
Races, which we thought was awesome to do. But then
my son cried because we said we're not going to
get a second dog.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
That doesn't mean you can't watch dog races.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Is a nine year old.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Absolutely, you're gonna get him started early, mate.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
There's a lot of money to be made there. So
watch this.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
If you watch these dog races, watch Dad's account go
up yep.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
And the other thing is that you can so when
you go out for the day because you and missus
Rudi working people, so you leave Connie the dog watching
his own races. So it sits there and just watches
as great as touch. I mean, imagine a dog just
watching his old Oh goderhaps it could race. We've not
got that. I won that one. I know radio announces
to do that.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
Happy birthday Alca Longie Laney as well. Really that's raise seven,
thank you race they control.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
That's raise eight, thank you, Sarah Klaus and dash that's
at one thirty.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Seven and at two thirteen. Greyhounds make great pets. That's
what that one's calling.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah. The race ten is Rayhound's love to race steaks. Okay,
so that one's just sort of a bad it's a
middle finger. What would you eat? That's an iphe Yeah,
they love to do this, watch this. Yeah, and so
what about the forced into unemployment? Dash it race twelve?
That sounds like a joke, but it's true. Yeah, okay,
let's raise twelve at three eight five thousand dollars. Though

(05:19):
that one scletur looks good there from the owners D
Roberts ye. And then what was that one? Good luck
to all of those heading over to Australia. Yeah, wishes
for the future sprint. It's a pretty sad day.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I mean, obviously the saddest day for the for the
dog gracing industry, But I don't know. This morning when
I woke up, I was like, I can't wait to
watch the dog gracers. There's going to be a lot
of crying and cuddling going on at the track, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
I suppose it's a bad idea to bring up my
theory that if you're out the track and you've been
on a dog and it.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Loses, you should be able to kick it. Yeah, I
think it's I'll park that one for now.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Did you have a dog named after you? At one point,
Jury was a horse.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
It was tried to Jeremy Wells. Yeah, I bet someone
on the better woman on the boob, but a better
woman on the opper heads up, Yeah, checks out. And
is that why they named it Jeremy? Yeah, it was
actually before they named it, but it's him, And then
he ended up going to He's over in Australia at
the moment, Jimmy Wells, I think he's doing better. Actually,

(06:23):
was he still run? Yeah, he's still running. He's still running.
There was Jeremy well there's also Hillary Barry. Hillary Barry
sold for a whole lot more than Jeremy was. Hillary
Barry was in the States. Yeah, and doing quite well. Actually,
Jeremy Wells is lucky to still be running. Yeah, he's
mean to her too. We'll put some money on some
of those races. I think we should put some on

(06:45):
Race fourteen. Thanks for the memory sprint.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
Yep, Jerry and Mini, the hold Breakfast last Night.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Walker kicks chases, watch the pads kicks. The races are
coming from everywhere.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
One of my side time about.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Could you imagine being a cowboy right now? I could.
I actually don't know what they'd do, thinking, really, that's
just out humiliation. A record breaking night in Townsville. They've
won by seventy points. Yeah, so eighty two twelve the
Roosters beat the Cowboys in Townsville and at home too.

(07:26):
That's the one that hurts the most. I would I
think No.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Obviously, as a breakfast radio host, I haven't watched a
Thursday night game in two years.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
Just can't. I've tried, because what happens is I try.
I watched the first half on the couch, start, old
Manning on the couch. Oh, wake up, all right, I
have a shower at halftime. For people who are listening,
they didn't see you, old Manning. You were running through
the signs of what your old man just falling asleep
with the eyes closed, and they're not any dad, that's

(07:57):
ever you know.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
I tried to watch something after eight o'clock on the
on the couch often arms folded, mouth agape in the
corner of the couches, and then missus goes, you're still
watching us?

Speaker 1 (08:06):
Yeah. My dad did it every single night of my childhood.
Come home, take off his suit, be dressed in his
in his work shirt, and then put on a pair
of tracksuit pants and his slippers. It's sitting in front
of the TV. We've done it. Leave the shirt on
the TV. You'd leave the white shirt on, the collar
shirt on, yep, And then he'd it's sitting in front
of the TV after dinner and he'd watch, and then

(08:27):
at about eight o'clock I reckon he'd fall asleep. And
it was brilliant because my brother and I'd be like, right,
we can change it off Coronation Street. But every time
we change the channel up eat awake straight away up.
Change that back, but you're a sleepy get it back.
I don't want to watch a night rider. No, I
want to see how dear dread them are getting on.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
So yeah, So this is my this is my Thursday
night Rugby League viewing experience, desperately trying to stay awake
till the ten o'clock kickoff game caicks off. Twenty minutes
into it, I'm old manning on the couch, wake myself
up and go all right, shower.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
See if that wakes me up? Wow? Yeah, commitment, geez
you shower.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
Then I'm like, you know what, I was sick and
half in bed, climb into bed watching it, watching it
on my phone, holding it in front of my face.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Then I roll over, prop it up on the nightstand,
watch it. There. I'm out again.

Speaker 3 (09:21):
There's still half an hour left of the game. I
jumped back awake, check if any of my bits are coming.
Then I'm like, oh, I can't get my eyes open anymore.
Bring up one of the Australian commentary apps, put the
phone underneath my pillow.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
And I go, I'll just listen to the rest of
the game and then I'm out. Yeah, I can see why.
Jeff just loves being in a relationship with you. It
must be nothing better than being in a relationship. You're
bringing the NRL to bed.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Hell you brother, Hell yeah, she had me along before that.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
I would not be allowed to. I'm not allowed to
bring sport to bed in your own house, no cheery.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Come on, man, you can't bring support to be your
house too.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
Wait, dache three for three? Who's allowed to bring to bed?
Sports stays in the lounge, and it's on the field,
on the field wherever it is, and in the lounge
even sometimes a bit of a.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Struggle eighty two twelve. That was an absolute dust thing,
wasn't it.

Speaker 6 (10:13):
Everybody got to try pretty much, Jerry in the night
the keep breakfast.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
There's been a few changes too, and you'll leave by
the locks of it. Most of it. I don't understand.
It's too confusing, no, very convicious.

Speaker 3 (10:26):
Also, so they can. So this is the government that's
in at the moment. They are changing these rules right now.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
So all of the stuff that they're promising to do
if they get elected again, why not just do it now?

Speaker 3 (10:37):
If you know that that's the best thing that we
can do. Why are you waiting until eight months from
now to do it. Why don't you do it now?
If you got I thought the thing was it takes
too long to get stuff through. So they're like, you
need to give us another term so we can get
it through. But they've just done this.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
I think this must have they must have had this
in the pipeline before, because, yeah, I imagine that I'm
wondering about I think it does take time to get
things through. I'm not worry about these politicians all sorts
of stuff.

Speaker 7 (11:00):
You are.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
I don't know, how honest if you like that.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
I wonder when they say stuff, if they actually mean
it or if they're just saying it.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Well, it's complicated, you know what I mean. It's not easy.
It's not easy getting things through. Turns out that actually
being in charge of a country is not actually that easy.
But it's sort of just spout some crap out of
your mouth. It's way easier than actually doing something and
then passing it through law and then getting it read
in parliament and then all that crap takes ages.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
I thought it was all the person who was in
before you. I thought it was always their fault.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
That's yeah, yeah, yeah, you can blame you can definitely
blame those people. But also there is a lot of
detail involved in stuff, and you've got to iron out details.
And that's the thing, because otherwise you come back and
you go, that was a real crap. Have you ever
heard them say before this piece of legislation was poorly written?
Have you ever heard people say that? Politicians say that.
I've heard it a couple of times into them and yeah,

(11:55):
and that is because it's been poorly thought through, and
then and then they have to go back and then
they have to redo it, and that takes ages as well.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
But I will say we had a meeting the other
day about the tumbling ratings of this show, and they
didn't accept my it's all mett Head's fault argument.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
I went the national approach to us.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
I was.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
It didn't work anyway. I see that they're changing a
few things.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
So one of them is and I thought you could
do this anyway, greater flexibility and to cash out annual leave.
So if you've got say four weeks old, you can
sell twenty five back to the company, which I have
done before. And I guess maybe they're making it more
accessible for people, but I know a lot of people
who have done this already sold their leave back because
when they're like, we want you to take leaves, I
don't want to take leave.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Can you take it to the open market? Like, is
there a place that you can take it to trade?
Me and say, look, this is the annual leave market.
I've got a bit of annual leave here. Does anyone
want to buy? It's? Like, was it for it's for
a radio? Okay, cool, yep, I'll pay such and such
amount for that. I think you can buy my annual leave.

Speaker 3 (12:58):
I think, yeah, you'd have been the company because because
imagine if your employee came to you instead. I bought
three weeks leave off another company, like what's on it?
But now I'm going to pay you for that.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
It's like a swap meet. So you okay, So it's
got to be inside the company. That sort of makes sense,
doesn't it? Like for like and then every Friday, what
you turn up in the about eleven o'clock in the
on Friday in the in the work room, and then
you say, okay, we've got some many leave.

Speaker 8 (13:22):
You got eight hours and Jeremy Wells contracts, you know
I want eight hours is going for three thousand dollars
you know another could you at that point also, could
you shout someone else a week's leave?

Speaker 1 (13:33):
You're like, man, I just want a week off of
working with this guy. I don't want to break.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
I just don't want to work with this person for
another week. I'll shout you a week's leave. What signal is,
I'll buy your flights to the Goldie to.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Erry in the night.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Love's coming up this morning. On the Headache Breakfast, we've
got the Ta B three way that pays, and I
will take a league. I'll take a league and you
can take a leg on eight hundred Headache.

Speaker 3 (13:59):
I'm going on going dogs. Yeah, gotta go dogs.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Ah, that's a good call. Yeah. Probably. Also we have
got later on in the show an update on our
shark that we're trying to buy.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
Yes, yes, yes, yes yes. Actually I'll give you a
quick up that it is live and it is love,
and you can go and donate as well. I have
a couple of pieces of Edmond around that. But go
and go and give a donation there, and later on
we'll give We'll let you know where we're at.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
This is the Hierarchy Breakfast, Oh.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Jerry andman Knight, The Hiarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (14:32):
Six thirty Time for your latest sport headlines thanks to
Export Ultra The ber for here More Glasgow Commonwealth Games
Gold for New Zealand, Emma Foy and pilot Jesse Hodges
have won gold and the tandem B sprint final at
the Valodrome. Oh yeah. New Zealand's four hundred meters female
team pursuit team has earned silver. Their male counterparts took bronze.

(14:55):
Nicole Murray also secured bronze and the C four Dash
five Individual Pursuit I. Meanwhile, Tom Osh and Nick Palmer
have started their shot put final. Weightlifted. David Nitti is
also preparing to fling some tin sick. I just watched them.
They're flinging a bit of tin. He he missed up.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
He was going from I think a million kilos and
unfortunately he dropped it. Once they get up to the heavyweight,
the big boys like Dave Letty, you can really start
doing yourself some damage. So it's quite it's an interesting watch.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
It's a bar bender. It's a bar bend. If the
bar is not bending, you're just pretending.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Jerry and I've always said that if the bar ain't
bend and you're just pretending.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
I've never once been to bar in my life. The tandem, though,
is quite funny.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Have you seen the tandem obviously visually impaired, and so
they have the person who can see on the front,
the bat the echo locator, and then the other person
driving the power in the back. For some reason, as kids,
we got a hold of where I grew up, big
cycling community. We've got a few Olympians and and Commonwealth
cyclists and we got hold of a tandem bike.

Speaker 1 (16:04):
We used to enter the road races on a tandem.
It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
It's hilarious and when you really go for it, if
you guys get into a good rhythm, you can you
can power pass people.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
And I just remember people you know, cycling along and
then here comes on the on the and we're in
full like a shaved league story about it. Oh yeah,
it's I spent a lot of time on a tandem
back in the day as well in the eighties and
at poodle Town actually, and it's actually a lot of fun.
You've got you've got to have the power through the back,

(16:35):
and then you've got to have the tactician on the
front who is The thing is, if you've got a
guy that's too heavy on the back, you can really
throw the That can be quite a lot of fun actually,
but it is fun. We shoul get a tandem. You
used to be able to hire them and all cloy
the mission bay and people would tend them around there.

(16:56):
We go for a tandem and rollerblades. Steeven Flamming Hairs
confirmed as England's new Test cricket coach, I wrote returning
as Red Bull captain. The former New Zealand skipper and
five time IPL winner with Chennai, replaces former teammate Brendan McCallum,
who remains in charge of the white ball side. Will
take over for the South Africa tour at the end
of the year. Is a time that we get some

(17:18):
of these keys to coach our teams. I don't think
we've got the money. Goddamn, how can we not afford
our own our own bloody Yeah, we don't have the
money because I think it's I'm not one hundred percent sure.
It's never being confirmed, but it was always speculated it
was a million pounds a year or something for McCallum.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
I feel like a year about one point three maybe
a one point.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
So so good on Stephen Fleming and Grimaldi's running at
the moment and the woman's one hundred forty seven.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
She went one third or she's come third. Congratulations to her.
When she was on an episode of Game of Two
Halves with me last year, she was on my team.
She's sat next to me. She the buzz i was
on the side where she does not have a hand,
and she she said, excuse me, can I swap seats

(18:09):
because I can't reach the.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Buzz It and Wyatt have opened the NPC rugby season
with a thirty eight twenty six win. I a Bay
of Plenty and Hamilton the host slid thirty five miller
a half time. Whoa they went off the boiler and
a half time, didn't they? They added three points and
then Bay of Plenty came back twenty. I mean in
the end, good comeback from the Bay of Plenty. Yeah,

(18:32):
it's a little bit short that that was the one.
Is that a bronze?

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Another one might a bit of bronze.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Jerry and Mini the hod Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
We are trying to buy a shark. There's a shark
app that you can go to. You can buy a shark.
They put trackers in them. Basically you're buying the tracker
and then you just track it around the world. Is
it what generally actually around the Oceania region, they go
between New Zealand and Australia, some of.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
Them as far up as up into the Pacific, it's
like Fiji in someone. And then they also hit down
sort of vaguely towards Antarctica. But generally they're just pissed
around the Phovo straight and we know that because we
put the tags on them. So we are fundraising. What
we wanted to do was just buy a show shark,
and in the heyday of radio, probably when you started jury,

(19:15):
they would have just done that. These days times are
a little tougher, so we've had to crowdsource this one.
For the four three hundred dollars, you do get to
name the shark, so that's part of it as well.
We need to figure out a name. It took me
a while to get to give a little page up,
but happy to report that as of about yesterday afternoon,
probably circa four pm.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
It is live. Okay, well, that's a great start.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
If you want to you just go to give a
little dot Codd en z and search hidarky shark, We'll
get you there, I think.

Speaker 1 (19:46):
Okay, I'm going there as we speak, I'm going live,
You're going live. I'm going live. No, Hidaki Shark doesn't
get you there.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Okay, Okay, we're gonna need to do a good job
of putting this one up on our socials with the
link because apparently this search function doesn't even shocked.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
What gets you there? I don't know how to get there?
What gets you there?

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Okay, We're gonna need to be very proactive with the
link here because it's it's very hard to.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Find the thing. AnyWho update God man, don't even get
into the starting line.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Yesterday, because such as the nature of the media landscape
these days, breakfast hosts have to do it all themselves.
I went on to I've been intense negotiations that give
a little for the better part of a part of
a week. Now, I thought it was just like a
trade me list. They just blast that thing up there.
They were like, hold on, does Gerry have your permission
to do this?

Speaker 1 (20:35):
Or why did I need Why did you need my permission?

Speaker 3 (20:38):
I don't know, and then they go So then obviously
there was the what do you do if you don't
reach your target. I was like, oh, look, we'll give
it to them anyway. And then they go, this is
now a fundraiser on behalf of someone else. You now
need their written consent that you're raising funds on their
behalf and that the money's going to be paid into
your account.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
So oh my god.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
So then I got that as well from the Sustainable
Oceans Society and then we're good to go. So about
four days, four days of tenths negotiations and now we're live.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Yes, I do see.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
It's hard to It is hard to donate, hard to
find it. Once you do, you can donate last night.
So I don't know how to turn this off. Every
donation I get an email.

Speaker 1 (21:20):
So if you want to.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Donate five dollars just to pass me off tonight while
I'm trying to have a beer on the couch, you
can do that. Doesn't have to be five dollars as well.
Feel free to donate as much as you want. Some
people who have been donating fifty. Some people have been
donating one. We are currently of a bunch of them
coming through now. We are currently at three hundred and

(21:41):
twenty eight dollars out of four thousand.

Speaker 1 (21:43):
Three hundred. Okay, well that's good start.

Speaker 3 (21:46):
Given by twenty six generous donors in two days. Some
of them like, for example, this one from Big Walls
sixty nine. He wants he wants to name the shark
Kesy on all Fins looking.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Over as girls with Me Keysy Big Wall sixty nine.

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Campbell wants to call it Great White Yoppers. He's donated
sixty nine dollars, Andrews donated ten and he wants.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
To call it yoppers, Yopper yopper. So yeah, there you go.
It's on Give a Little.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
The title of the listing is Hoadaki, Breakfast is Buying
and shark. It's an unmistakable AI generated picture of a
shark the Haadaky logo on it. So just get on
there and search any variation of Haadaki and shark.

Speaker 1 (22:27):
You're coming.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
A couple of things you can do as well.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
You can go to Google and type in radio Hadaki
Shark give a Little and you find it that way.
But also today I see in the New Zealand Herald,
the media insider Shane Curry has written an article Radio
Hurdarchy Breakfast hosts Jeremy Wells, Sam and I should attempting
to buy a shark. You were a listener. What he's
put it on the Media Insider, Insider and the Herald.

(22:50):
I mean most of it's about Riley Elliott and stuff
like that. Dtor Royley Eliot the shark Man.

Speaker 1 (22:54):
But we are the hero and the match malign Media Insider.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
We're in there.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Geez, hey, jeez, this is going well with the New Zealand.
But so the best way just to double just to
just to clarify, the best way to donate for our
sharks to google.

Speaker 3 (23:13):
Hodarchy shark there and then scroll down to the Give
a Little Thing and yeah, that's right above the Media
Insider article about us trying to buy a shark.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
I love that they're trying to frame it as like
a conservation effort from us.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
No, we just want to buy a shark.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
Jerry and Midnight, The Hodarchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the
Nia Stuart The Darchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
Now we're in the market for shark at the moment,
we're in the shark market. The shark WILEM and I
came back from holiday. He had been on the apps
and he's always on the apps, but he was on
the apps. Well, actually you can. You can, but yeah,
you're on the Shark apps and it's a coal app.
Actually you can buy yourself a shark. I mean, you

(24:03):
don't even need to buy yourself a shark to go
on the app and to see where sharks are going
and stuff. But anyway, they tag a whole lot of sharks,
they follow them around. When the shark comes up to
the surface, it has a little bit of a bip
and then it's like, oh, yeah, that's where the shark is.
It turns out the sharks actually covering massive ground. Great
white It's incredible how far they can go, generally the
ones that because they tagged around New Zealand and the

(24:25):
December to May tagging period and then they can get
over to the Goldie and you know, jeeseuz quicker than
your cousin who's a scaffolder. What I realized is we
didn't ask doctor Riley when we had him on the show,
because he's the guy that runs the Shark app. We
didn't ask him, does that mean that that's a particularly
healthy fishery when you've got a great white that's cruising around.

(24:46):
I would have thought that is saying that there's lots
of fish shit. It's a good sign.

Speaker 3 (24:51):
Well, they seem to congregate around the fox es straight.
The reason I didn't ask so that I don't care.
I just want to own a shark. I see that
we've now made the Herald. They've written an article about Radiohodaki,
who was trying to buy a fund the tag of
a shark for conservation reasons. It's got nothing to do
with conservation. We just want to own a shark because
owning a shark is sick. Who doesn't want to own

(25:11):
a shark?

Speaker 1 (25:12):
The easiest way to donate, because what we're looking for
is people to go on and donate five dollars is
all you need to do. It's just google Hodaki shark
and then if you google it, then it will take
you to the give a Little page. If you go
to the give a Little page and then go from
the search place, it's actually quite difficult.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Okay, So can I give you enough that yea. So
it took a while to get to the starting line.
Here we've finally got to give a Little page. There's
a few legal issues around. Their main concern was all
the money gets paid into my account. I know I've
seen what you've just seen. All the money gets paid
into my accounts, so they're a little bit worried about
what happens to the money.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Now.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
As of about six thirty this morning, we're at about
three hundred, four hundred dollars. We're now at one thousand.
I can see all of the donations, and the top
one that has just come in less than a minute
ago says it's from Foxy five hundred bucks. You guys
are legions. Please don't pick a shitne Oh.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
My god, oh my god, oh my god.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
It should we call it fox at the show, We're
gonna have to call it Championshark of the Year.

Speaker 1 (26:13):
Ryan Fox has donated five bucks, five hundred, five hundred
bucks the show. Oh man, this is so funny. That's
so good. That is brilliant.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Right up until the end, the highest donation had been
ninety nine dollars and ninety nine cents from a Jeremy
who's just written text credits.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
You know that was me, That was me earlier on.
So we're okay, this is fantastic. So we're now in
twenty twenty three dollars. We're looking for four thousand, three hundred.
That's the goal.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
I didn't think we were going to make it. I
we still may not, but I really thought that this
was going to be sort of honest. I thought we'd
be at about one hundred bucks by the end of today.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
This, Oh, we're going to get there.

Speaker 3 (26:52):
We've had we have had to set a expiry date.
It's next Friday. If we don't get to it by
next Friday, we're going to bun it. But I thought
we're going to get there. I think we're going to
cruise through. If you want to donate, the easiest way
is to google hadarky Shark and then you'll be able
to find it.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Scroll down you'll find the give a little page. Get
in there, don't out how much or as little as
you want, and the other part about it. Man. I
so if we if we get to like fourth out, look,
we're going to get there. But if we if we
don't get there, if we just fall short and there's
no other way of making it up, then that money
goes to Sustainable Lotion.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Yeah, we'll give it to them anyway, we just won't
get a shark as all. But I think if we
get to about Thursday next year and we're a few
hundred short. That's when we start making phone calls and
seeing you know, Bunnings, that's.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Good on your right, that's blood, that is so good.

Speaker 6 (27:40):
Hydarchy breakfast, Jerry in the night, the Darchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
So David Liddy and the men's one hundred and ten
plus kilogram weightlifting. Unfortunately, as of this morning, the division
I would have to enter into. He has just lifted it.
I'm kind of a phenomenal amount and he has one
gold and that is that. There is the Blue Ribbon

(28:06):
event and then's weightlifting, the Big Open diversion. Yes, and
he's won it. Man, that was awesome.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
And we're watching it here in the studio obviously with
the sound off, so we couldn't really tell exactly what
it happened. All we knew is he looked really stoked,
The crowd looked really stoked, his coach looked really stoked.
And now he's shaking every on's and he's one. He's
won another gold. Give him a taste.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
He's won of gold in the in the men's weightlifting Open.
That's like two. He'd lifted two hundred and twenty three
kgs over his head. That is terrify. And then he
lifted his trainer, who's a really small woman.

Speaker 3 (28:40):
Yeah, up in the air man that's still clapping him.
He's backstage, that's still clapping him.

Speaker 1 (28:45):
He's got a standing over that. I give him a taste. Man.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
We're humming as a country at the moment right now.
From a sporting perspective, we are absolutely humming.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Every Commonwealth Games, every Olympics. I can't every feet for
World Cup. I kind of forget how big those events get. Yes,
and then they they get going and they have a
momentum and they do actually lift the spirits of people
in New Zealand, and how good we go on the
world stage because we just think of ourselves as sort
of dowdy little Kiwis just down here doing our thing.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
You know, we're not to we'll never do something like that.
And then you the Commonwealth Games fire up and we're like, oh,
hang on, we're incredible.

Speaker 2 (29:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
The gold in a moment, Yeah, the bronze is all good,
silver is all good. But the golds, the golds really
get you going, particularly in July, end of July. Give
them a taste midwinter in New Zealand. Give him a taste.
One other thing, just quickly to discuss the shark. Just briefly.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
As we touched on before, Ryan Fox just made a donation.
He said, you guys are legends. Please don't pick a
shit name. We may need to if his remains the biggest. Oh,
you know, even if it doesn't, he might get a
VETO vote. Maybe when this thing comes down to the
end of it, if we manage to raise the funds,
we'll pick a name he can he can have veto.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Okay, I think I think that's a good call. Actually,
her highest highest donation gets veto gets right of gets
right a renewal right of v day.

Speaker 3 (30:03):
Someone said, Champion Shark of the Year has to be
the name, and then someone else said, my lame claim
to fame for next week, I'm co owner of a
shark with champion Golfer of the Year, Ryan Fox.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
There's not many people that can say that, that's for sure. Well,
if you want to be able to say that, you
can go and downute as well. Hey, now, I was
yesterday at an event. It was a funeral. It was
a funeral for an eighty six year old. So oftentimes,
you know, eighty six year old funerals are celebrations of life.
This one was a fantastic celebration of a life, of

(30:36):
a wonderful life. But I was chatting away to an
elderly person and she was telling me how many cars
she's owned in her life, just as a casual chat.
It's because said, did you ask no? But she was
saying twenty two, And it got me thinking, twenty two cars,
twenty two cars in life, she's in her late seventies,

(30:56):
we're talking about an individual. It was actually we're talking
about an individ jewel car. And then and then she
said that was my fa that was my favorite car.
And I said how many cars have they made? And
she said, I know exactly the number, twenty two, right,
And I thought, how many people are there out there
who first know how many cars they've had just off
the top of their head, but also how many people

(31:17):
out there have had more cars than lovers? And is
there a line of demarcation? And we're not actually not lovers,
people that you've been in love with, I'm going to
say people in love with And is there a line
of demarcations? So on average age, so you get to say, yeah,
we're at tips thirty five where we think thirty five

(31:40):
is the line where you end up having more cars
because I worked out I have had seven cars, eight cars. Yeah,
I would expect you to have had more eight cars
and four people I've been in love with them. I
lofe right.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Yeah, But I do think this is a function of age,
because if you're like eighteen and you've you're onto your
second car already, Yeah, you're probably not onto the second
time he's been in love. Now, this is an interesting
one when when we talked about this before, and we'll
get to Rod's first fifteen of love.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
Do you count Jerry falling in love with the same
woman every day?

Speaker 3 (32:16):
Because because I will never have more cars than lovers
if that's the case, because four times, five times this
week I've woken up and fallen in love all over again.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
No, and OK, some people out there are falling in
love with themselves every day as well, but that doesn't count. No,
it's individual people.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
I think this is just an age thing. Yeah, I
think it's about thirty five, and then it probably tips over.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
It starts to tip. Yeah, I like the how many
like which one was your favorite?

Speaker 9 (32:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (32:45):
The one that got away? You know, so weird? So
how many cars? How many cars are you at minight
five five cars five point five? Would you accept me
and the miss his own two cars? Do you accept
that as me? I think that are your name? Is
your name on the owner ship papers?

Speaker 2 (33:00):
No?

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Okay, well then five? Yeah? What about you, ruder? How
many how many cars are you at?

Speaker 4 (33:06):
I think I'm up to number seven at the moment.
Number seven?

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Y okay? Yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
So this is like the first fifteen of love where
he's been in love fifteen times, current wife number fourteen
A right as yours.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
As your normally we get this Chad Away and the
six o'clock.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Jerry Andmann the Hotarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
So it's been a bit of a tricky last month
or so for the Warriors in the NRL. They are
still sitting third on the table, but have been affected
by injuries, as are a lot of teams actually, and
they lost two out of their last four games. Now
they're heading to the Goldie to take on the Titans.
That's tomorrow night. I'm having a look at the tab

(33:50):
Odd's Live two fifty five. The Titans are paying our
New Zealand dollar fifty two. That always concerns me when
my favorites die. Henward joins us. I know that's the
same for you. Die you don't like seeing Warriors going favorites.

Speaker 9 (34:01):
I certainly don't, especially against the Titans, who are a
bit of our bogie team, even though we beat them
by eight points earlier in the year. But I'm out
at my little compound on the West coast under a
full moon, punching out some sand dune runs, just to
send some mana over to the Boys because we really
need it, because teams like the Roosters, who are ahead

(34:23):
of us now and other teams in the top eight
are really surging, whereas we're we've actually struggled over the
last couple of months.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
Yeah, what, we were just talking about it this morning.
I fell asleep trying to watch it. But the Roosters
piling up eighty two points against the Cowboys does that
speak you at all?

Speaker 9 (34:39):
It does because they are doing everything I sort of
wish the Warriors were doing. They're just clicking in attack.
They're looking so smooth, they know exactly what they're doing.
They're free from injury, whereas the Warriors, to Marti Martin
and Chanelle Harris s Tavita created such an awesome little

(35:00):
sort of honeymoon period of themselves and the halves, but
they've been falling off a bit. Cane to Apik, he
has just been hitting form. He's out with a foot injury.
So the staunch charms Nickel Clockstad will step back into
the fullback role and we do just struggle against the
Titans and that freaks.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
Me out a bit.

Speaker 9 (35:21):
We're at Seba super Stadium over on the Gold Coast,
so we're gonna have plenty of support. But this has
to be a statement this win. This has to be
a win, and it has to be a statement win.

Speaker 3 (35:32):
Luke Metcalf on the bench proper this time. Up until
now he's been on the extended bench. Do you think
in the next few weeks it's time to bring Luke
Metcalf potentially into the starting lineup.

Speaker 9 (35:42):
I have been holding off on that call, but after
last week, I actually think it is time. I mean,
I've been watching the New South Wales Cup games. He
hasn't been necessarily shining there, but I just think we
really miss a kicker in game, and he's got a

(36:03):
death little foot, He's got a bit of pace. I mean,
it would be tragic to see him just take us
to the finals and take us to a Grand Final
even and then shoot off to the Dragons for hey,
whatever we need for this year. I think that if
Chanel and to Marty struggle a bit this weekend, that

(36:23):
Luki Mett will be in there for sure.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
Do you think the problem with that harves combination die
Hemwood is that they're just a bit too hot. I
look at those two guys and I think, I mean,
at first, I think that can dazzle your opposition, but
then I think, over time, I think you can dazzle
your own players. I don't know, I just look at
I look at six and seven in the Warriors, and

(36:46):
I think that's the best looking six and seven I
think I've ever seen on a rugby league field.

Speaker 9 (36:50):
Oh, look to Marty Martin. He hunts pigs.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Now.

Speaker 9 (36:54):
I don't know if you subscribe to Pig Hunting Weekly,
but there are no dudes are rocking out like that.
I mean, you know, you know, flag flag catching balls
or whatever. You just want to get plowed into the
ground by tomorrow. Martin, because he is he is gorgeous.
He's an amazing specimen. Think of the viewers he draws

(37:17):
him like my wife will wander by the TV and oh, look,
who's that. You know, he's so so he deserves his
place in the team. But I agree that he is
maybe dazzling our own players a bit too much. So
maybe he could wear some sort of face shield that
deflets his beauty towards.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
The other side. Yeah, maybe like one of those kind
of COVID masks or something.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
YE are going to ship lead as well. You know,
I just need to scallet.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
I think he's got to do something. Diehem would thank
you so much for your time this morning.

Speaker 9 (37:54):
Always a please to have a beautiful weekend everywhere.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Jerry and Leni The Hodocky Breakfast daily bespoke content that
you won't find on the radio show The Hurdarki Breakfast Podcast.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
It's time for its academic of two hundred dollars Bunnings
voucher up for grabs. Oh eight hundred hardeche. We'll ask
you five questions. All you need to do is get
three correct to win that prize. Let's go to the
phone's Dean's on the line morning, Dean Monting. Guys, welcome
to the show. You run a swim school. Yeah, favorite
swimming stroke, Dean, It's.

Speaker 7 (38:26):
Gotta be breaststroke.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
Mane Is that right? And why is that the.

Speaker 7 (38:34):
Natural talent?

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (38:35):
Right? Is that your best stroke?

Speaker 7 (38:39):
Definitely?

Speaker 1 (38:40):
When do you sit on side stroke being brought into
the Olympics slash Commonwealth Games.

Speaker 7 (38:45):
Dean, I think I'm probably running with Minaya's comment that
we're probably doing enough strokes as it is.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Yeah, yeah, too many. I reckon on the I reckon
too many?

Speaker 10 (38:54):
Well watch one?

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Would you? I mean, would you let go the butterfly?
Let go the butterfly? It's a bit reliictedly.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Well, I mean, you know, the thing is you're swimming,
like say, your boat capsizers, right, and you've got to
get back the shore. You're going to fire up a
butterfly to get back to shore.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
No you're not. No, you're going to go. You're going
to go the breaststroke. Breaststroke's a good solid stroke just
if you need to cover distance and you can keep
your head above water.

Speaker 3 (39:17):
If you're if you're swimming up to a swarm up bar,
for example, breaststroke. Now, now pick to this year. You're
sitting at a swim up bar at a resort and dinner,
some some idiot pulls up to you with a butterfly
gun ruins the vibe ruins the vibe.

Speaker 1 (39:32):
I just want to know where's the creativity? Because I'm
told Dean and you'll know this freestyle you can do
anything great. Yeah, so you can do backstroke if you want.
Where's the creativity? Why is someone not developed some kind
of new like eggbeater stroke that somehow gets Yeah, there
seems to be there seems to be no new developments
and strokes.

Speaker 7 (39:51):
Well, I think they're probably hit the nail in terms
of what's going to be fastest through the water that
you make. I'll tell you what though, Butterfly is a
great way to get them. Get served to this on my.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
Okay, Dan, you know how this works. We're going to
ask you five questions. You're going to get three correct
to win the two hundred dollars Bunnings voucher. Let's get
into it. Christian Wi the Dan. Dave Gibson is the
lead singer of which Kee We Rock Band? Sorry, Dave Gibson.
Dave Gibson the lead singer of which Kee We Rock Band? Correct?
London is the biggest city by population in England. What

(40:28):
is the second?

Speaker 7 (40:31):
Uh, She's Liverpool, No, it's Birmingham.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
Who played Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Speaker 7 (40:39):
Ah God, what's that chick's name?

Speaker 1 (40:47):
Scarlet Johansson who donated five hundred dollars to the Hurdige
Breakfast to help buy a shark this morning.

Speaker 7 (40:54):
I'm mister Matreil's coaching Ryan Fox.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
I don't think you can get it canny because he's
only got one correct so far. The last question was
Australian humorist Billy Birmingham is better known by what alias?
It's the twelfth Man. Bad Luck Dean, Sorry about that
sorry thing. Two hundred dollars left on the table. Two
hundred and fifty dollars on Monday morning.

Speaker 2 (41:19):
Jerry and Mini the hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
It's the.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
That's where we're try and find the top five things
in a particular topic. We found beaches, storms, stadium, mum's cans,
Jim cracks Ian's sharks last week over was the number one.
Mom Oh.

Speaker 3 (41:39):
By the way, if you're looking to donate to that shark,
there is a link on the Facebook page.

Speaker 1 (41:44):
Going have a look there.

Speaker 3 (41:45):
We've posted that because it's quite It can be challenging
to search things on the Give a Little page and
a very influencer of us Lincoln by it.

Speaker 1 (41:54):
Yeah, it's linking by the other option is just to
google potocky shark. An easy way. The hardest way is
to go on to give it a little and then
use this, which turns out, Yeah, so don't do that.
There's other ways to do it. But yeah, no matter
how much he donates a dollar, five dollars whatever, can
you don't have a dollar, maybe it's five, maybe you can, yep,

(42:14):
and that way that gives you rights to name the shark. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (42:18):
Ryan Fox currently as the highest donator, he's got right
of revoke. Yep, he's got he's got a veto's victor.
He's got vector veto. And so when we pick a name,
we'll run it past him, make sure that he's okay
with it, because he donated five hundred bucks and said
don't pick a ship name.

Speaker 1 (42:36):
Yeah. I mean, if you want to donate more than
Ryan Fox there then and you want to surp his
veto rights, I suppose you can do that. Yeah, yeah,
for sure.

Speaker 3 (42:46):
We're just watching the Common games on in the background.
Our men's team Pursuit have won the Bronze Middle I
think they won that overnight. They've just jumped up on
the podium. They look like the most New Zealand men's
cyclists of all time. Just scruffy helmet here mula. There's
only one of them clearly who I believe has a job.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
This fine guy with a really tiny haircut. Yes, there
is that guy, very handsome. He looks like he's got
a job running. There's some great leads, like some massive
mullet Yes, crack up, I'm real Rudah from Dedie Smash Mullets. Yeah.
A big fan of the team pursuit.

Speaker 3 (43:21):
It's got an exciting one to watch, and so that
got us thinking. After watching that the four hundred meters
and a Grimaldi got bronze and one hundred meters brend
as well, we thought this morning.

Speaker 1 (43:29):
Top five races, Top five races, text.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
And three four eight three or if your boss doesn't
listen to the station, give us a call. One hundred
Hodaker your favorite race.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
Speaking of races and cycling, I'm a huge fan of
the Karen.

Speaker 6 (43:41):
Do I know what it is?

Speaker 3 (43:42):
No, no, but I know that they have Karen leagues
over in Japan. Where they do you know, like week
in week out, They've got franchises and you can bid
on your favorite Karen racer.

Speaker 1 (43:53):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. There's there's a couple of weird
cycling ones. There's a Karen and there's another one that
I can't remember the name of each other. But there's
one where we're like every five laps. There there's some
weird race in the middle or is that the kurrn
And then there's given me I think that's the points race.
That's the points race.

Speaker 3 (44:09):
Yes, yeah, so you just lak around, just chewing up
the clock and all of a sudden go, yeah.

Speaker 1 (44:13):
That's the points super weird that one, and then people
drop off.

Speaker 3 (44:17):
Yeah yeah, oh that one is like, that's a different
one where the last person each lap gets eliminated and
so you keep you do like one hundred laps and
ever lap someone gets someone gets eliminated. Yet give us
a tech through three four eight three, or if you're brave,
give us a call. Oh eight hundred, hod I can
tell us your favorite race.

Speaker 2 (44:36):
Jurry in the night they breakfast.

Speaker 1 (44:39):
It's the five today. We're trying to find the top
five races.

Speaker 3 (44:47):
Yes, that is right, top five races.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
Why because we're watching the four hundred men's four hundred
meters earlier on and I said that, So, see a
race is not that one. Yeah. Absolutely, By the time
you finished that one, you've sprinted four hundred meters because
you look at the one hundred meters is obviously the
blue ribbon event, the one hundred meters. Zoe Hobbs amazing
if at this week winning the women's one hundred meters

(45:13):
the fastest one hundred meters women in the Commonwealth, Yes, amazing.
But those guys aren't that bugged after that one hundred
meters race that four hundred meters might go. They were
all lying on the track.

Speaker 3 (45:24):
They look like they just finished a commercial radio shows
how hard they were working.

Speaker 1 (45:29):
Totally.

Speaker 3 (45:29):
I'll tell you what a lot of tics around Winston
Peters this morning for the top five races.

Speaker 1 (45:35):
I don't think we're going to read too many of those.
That's top five racist. It's different than we're looking for
the races. Yes we are. Let's go to the fun yes,
not is. Let's go to the fine lines here morning.
Oh and how are you going?

Speaker 10 (45:48):
Yeah, morning, guys.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
What's your favorite race? Yeah?

Speaker 10 (45:52):
So when when my daughters were doing athletics and like
interer club and stuff like that at school age, every
now and then at a club meet that do they do.
They called it the relay medley, and so four person team,
one person runs eight hundred meters, four hundred, one dos
two hundred, one does one hundred and so when so yeah,
so of course it's a relay, so you put your

(46:12):
specialists in on whoever's to whatever length. But when you're
watching it, it's crazy because you don't do it in order,
like one team might do the one hundred meters first,
the other one might do the eight hundred first.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
And so on.

Speaker 10 (46:22):
So there's people all over the track. You got no
idea where everyone is, and then it all comes together
at the end. And so like right at the end,
you've got someone finishing an eight hundred, so that kind
of technically plodding, and then you've got one hundred meters
person burning up behind them, and everyone kind of gets
to the line at the same time. Did you ever
get a chance to see it? That's real cool. I
wish they did it that Olympics in Commonwealth.

Speaker 1 (46:42):
Oh that's cool though, And yeah I see that because
you're not the other thing with a normal relay races
and you're sort of petting yourself off against someone else,
But in this situation. Really, you've just got to go
as quick as you possibly can, not knowing exactly how
fast anyone else is going.

Speaker 10 (46:56):
Yeah, and from a spectator perspective, there's just something going
on all around the track and then it all comes
together at the end.

Speaker 3 (47:01):
That's awesome. I never heard of that, but man, I
want to watch one now. They should do that, like
after the closing ceremony. You know, anyone who's still got
a bit of guest lift have a crew that.

Speaker 1 (47:11):
Thanks for your call, I appreciate it. Jason joins us
now from UKand Morning Jason markm to the show, gentlemen,
your favorite.

Speaker 10 (47:18):
Race, prestigious NFL NRL mascot race.

Speaker 1 (47:23):
Yes, that is a doozy.

Speaker 3 (47:27):
It's it is funny that when one of them shows
up and there's clearly an athlete in there, and the
rest of them are just like whoever you found around
the office. Famously, the notorious Pantsman Joel Harrison was once
Herald the Giraffe and a mascot race and fell over
and his head came off.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
It wasn't actually dressed up, was he He was just
looking as he normally as Charlie from Flavor who Flavored
work across the hall from us here. He of course
was dressed up as a chicken at one stage and
it was a chase the chicken and Charlie used it
at a at a Warriors game. Charlie used it as
a trial basically for the Warriors Open and they just
could not chase that jagging his stepping people. That was fantastic.

(48:05):
He bumped an old lady off I think at one point.

Speaker 5 (48:06):
And Jerry, I know that back in the mid eighties,
you're a massive fan of the whip Bread around the
World race.

Speaker 1 (48:11):
I love the whip Bread race. Yeah, particularly the nineteen
eighty five eighty six one which I followed very very
closely in the New Zealand Herald, or maybe it was
the Auckland Star in those days. What's the whip Bred
around the World. It was around the World race that
used to come through Auckland and it had legs. I
remember there's one that was to punt to the Esta.
Where the hell theut as I didn't even know South America,

(48:32):
so they'd sort of go around the Roaring Fort is
the start in Portsmouth, I'm pretty sure, and they finish
in Portsmouth Sailing. Yeah, sale right, and maxis what were
called Maxis Lion New Zealand was one of the was
one of the boats Steinlager two at one stage more
of an expert altri guy, it moved to be called
the Ocean Race. No more of a sickie swift guy.

Speaker 3 (48:55):
A few texts coming through on three four A three
drinking boat races the Kezy Crippled twenty memorial man.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
Has anyone watched that recently gone back and looks? And
I watched that recent goes by your breakfast in the
Big Show and Kezy pulling up with it? What was?
Would we describe it as a mild inconvenience, mildly tweaked hamstring.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
I watched that every time and the embarrassing part about
it to me is, despite the fact that he's blown
a quad and I've watched a million times, every time
I watch it, I'm still not certain if I'm going
to catch him or not.

Speaker 1 (49:30):
I'm that slow. The guard of honor that as he
left in a wheelchair and then later on played around
the golf. I think the North Shore Hospital never got
their crutches back either.

Speaker 3 (49:39):
Favorite race would have to be the Gloss of Cheese
Roll in England, Downhill and multiple ankle dislocations years.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
That's incruitable. Mark Allis, of course famously won that one year,
didn't he. Yeah, Winston Peter's here favorite race? What a
silly question. Least favorite, I'll tell you.

Speaker 3 (49:53):
Okay, a few different ones, the human race, getting in
a lot of love here and one of the this
one from Mike catching up to your mates when you're
late to the party. That's when the cody is seven
percent can be handy, although don't finish the box because
you'll need to phone a lawyer.

Speaker 1 (50:08):
Keep those covenor three four, eight three or eight hundred haidaki.
The top five races after this the Booty latinas quite
a few votes for those.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
Jerry and Midnight, The Darchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the
Nia Stewett. Find them on Instagram at Hodarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (50:30):
It's the f And before we count down the top
five races, can I just say we just count the votes.
We don't make judgments, we don't make the suggestions. We
simply collate. We count.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
Yeah, if you're going to get on us for anything,
it would be that we've miscounted, or that you know
it's your own fault for texting these things.

Speaker 1 (50:52):
I just need to be clear, we do not make
up these suggestions.

Speaker 3 (50:56):
Because we know that what happens on the show is
we say something and then the mainstream media takes it
way out of context and now all of a sudden,
it's it's national news. So we just want to avoid
that by by giving that disclaimer. We're just counting what
people have texted into us. Okay, we're more on radio, right, Okay,
we're more on radio.

Speaker 1 (51:14):
The Dunbrigade. We can't even count no, all right, honorable
honorable mention the Wacky Races. Someone said they love wacky
Races as a kid with Mutley, Oh, with Mutley and
dictastically can I get a manual Mutley? Jeez? The last
wheeze was a.

Speaker 4 (51:35):
Yeah, that's pretty good. Jeez.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
I don't have the lungs for that anymore in my
old age. Yeah, So that's an honorable mention. A lot
of other honorable mentions that are dishonorable mentions.

Speaker 1 (51:45):
Rather just leave some of that.

Speaker 3 (51:48):
Yeah, and then there's things like Bathurst, Tour de France,
things like that. They got they got one or two,
but not too many. So I think, without any further ado,
let's rip straight into it. Number five the race between
Rigger and Darren Lehman dressed in Beiji and Canary yellow
after the test series.

Speaker 1 (52:02):
That's from Kenny and fund. Now that there, I believe
was instigated by a man who's joining the show before
nine o'clock. Acc hit g Lane. Is that right? The
suit was made for him, Yeah, the beij suit, yeah right,
and that and so the idea was, who's the slowest
going on your team because we got regular Yeah, and
we'll race them together.

Speaker 4 (52:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (52:21):
I think the other teams didn't quite get him behind
it though. I couldn't kind of see the New Zealanders
of the humor of that.

Speaker 2 (52:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (52:29):
Well yeah, if they take themselves really seriously, none of
them would have wanted to do it. I got on him.
I feel like South Africa put out their fastest person
versus Regga that you got. You've lost that one. You
don't understand how that works. They just don't get it.
Number four The Race that Stops two.

Speaker 3 (52:44):
Nations, the Melbourne Cut, the Melbourne Cut. What I love
is that we call it the Race that stops two
Nations here in New Zealand. They don't call it that
in Australia. Don't they call it the race that stops
the Nation wheeler? What about stops us too?

Speaker 1 (52:57):
One year we were lucky enough to go along as
part of the Radio Hurocke team and I got to say,
that is quite something.

Speaker 3 (53:03):
Oh my god, we've bought the wrong and we should
be buying a bloody horse.

Speaker 1 (53:06):
Put it in the Melbourne Cup. Go and watch it.
Let's just get through the shark first. They number three,
big booty La tennas. What's two?

Speaker 6 (53:15):
Number two?

Speaker 1 (53:16):
The Undy five hundh, the Undy five hundred. We have
to buy a car that's under five hundred bucks and
drive it from me the Dunedin Cross Sachin in a car.

Speaker 3 (53:24):
Crash shoostered Danneeden because the finish line was in Castle
Street and my dad and know, because I was obviously
a kid by the time this thing was shut down
when I was like seventeen eighteen. But back in the
day we because I had family down and done this,
we would drive down there and just get caught in
a convoy every now.

Speaker 1 (53:40):
And it was so much fun. How cool was so
much It was so cool to see they were all
some of them had different themes and you know, a
lot of vans. It annoys me that that stuff was
shut down because that one was that that was a beauty,
That was a great tradition started organically. These things are
hard to come by, I know, and they always get
shut down. Enjoy that. Did anyone did anyone? Was anyone injured?

Speaker 3 (54:02):
Tell you what, anyone who brings back the DY five
hundred has got my vote in the upcoming election.

Speaker 1 (54:06):
I'll tell you that for nothing. Number One the Humble
boat Race low level Club Rugby boat Race.

Speaker 3 (54:11):
I'm talking third division in Southland. Rights this text to
I think the boat race.

Speaker 1 (54:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (54:15):
Is it a It's not a lost art yet, but
it is. Are we losing the art of the boat racings?

Speaker 1 (54:20):
I don't believe you're allowed to run them north of Wellington.
I was involved in one in Daneda. The last one
was down Indanina as part of the acc boat Race team.
Lee Hard our anchorman. Yes, good person to have coming
in last just say that. Yeah, boy, oh boy, you
can he can make up you. Mad. Heath was Cookie monstering, hopeless, Yeah,

(54:41):
terrible Heath slow and Cookie monster. Yeah. We went at
field Days one year.

Speaker 3 (54:45):
We did like a live show from the sky city
in Hamilton and Lee anchored Our boat race team was
about four of us, Me the night Wolf, Lee, one
other and and ran the table. He I think we
went four on the trot undefeated. We took on all
comers and could not be defeated.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
He literally it takes one second. Yeah, it's impressive. So
there you go.

Speaker 3 (55:08):
There's your top five. The race between Ruggan and Darren Lehman,
the race that stops two nations. Big booty of the
ten is the under five in the Humble boat Race.

Speaker 2 (55:16):
Jerry and Leni the hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 11 (55:19):
Sports chat with acc head ge Laine, brought you by
Export Ultra the beer for here.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
Welcome to the studio, a c. S Head.

Speaker 11 (55:30):
Great to be here, Great to be here on a Friday.
Not a lot going on this weekend in sport I space.
The biggest sports story of the week is Stephen Fleming
been called into the English coaching set up to coach
the Test team.

Speaker 1 (55:40):
Because Bears is still there. Yeah, Bears are still these.

Speaker 11 (55:43):
In the White Ball TA twenty one days. But I
think it's a smart move from English Cricket. I think
I didn't think they would appoint another Kiwi, but I
mean because there must be some English cricket fans who
are like what you know, but a very can costed
decision because the Tears coach and the one day coach
have to work and sync. You're working with similar players

(56:06):
a schedule that almost crosses over. Yeah, and the only
person that can out Alpha Brendan McCallum is his former
captain and mentor, Stephen Fleming.

Speaker 1 (56:15):
That's a good point. Yeah, Okay, So it's that kind
of situation of when Brenda McCullum turned up to the
team when he was a teenager, yeah, early twenties, he
would have been whipped into line, and so from then
on you're always scared of the person who whipped you
into line.

Speaker 3 (56:28):
Yeah, well, not scared.

Speaker 11 (56:29):
I think he's got a domean skot, a lot of
respect and he was whipped in Yeah. And I also
think that the I think the English media will enjoy
the way Stephen Fleming carries himself and he's a very
considered man. He won't talk and what often Bears talked
and kind of just these weird kind of motivational quotes,
whereas Stephen Fleming will be much more measured and I

(56:49):
think they'll enjoy that.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
I think they will. Stephen Fleming will run a press
conference like a fujitsuit. Ad Oh yeah, which is there
in a pair of ginos? Is exactly what you're at now.
It's fitter for general. That's general General. A couple of
texts through for you.

Speaker 3 (57:05):
Actually, Lane, why would we want to keep those former
black cabs coaching us? Our coaching teams going great. We
just pumped England so they can.

Speaker 1 (57:10):
Keep be well.

Speaker 11 (57:10):
I mean, look, we would love to imagine if you
had Vittry Fleming and Bears and the coaches set up
three coaches, three coaches that are getting paid millions of
dollars around the world for their expertise. But we just
can't afford them. But we are one of the greatest
exporters of coaches, both cricket and rugby. Think how many
coaches of rugby are plying their trade around the world.

Speaker 1 (57:29):
We can coach, we can.

Speaker 11 (57:31):
If only there's a World Cup just for coaching, mate,
we'd get the gold medal every year.

Speaker 1 (57:34):
We didn't even have to play. You know how people
we retire, they like look for something they can do
for the community. Do you think that Fleming, McCullum and
Victory when they retire, like it's like driving a bus
at the retirement villagin you know, and you'll get up.
You might go and help some people by driving a bus.

Speaker 11 (57:51):
There's always an ulterior motive though, i'd Lowis is just widowed.

Speaker 1 (57:55):
Well, possibly easy, My great aunt is lowest. But do
you think that McCallum, Vittori or Fleming. You know, when
they decide to retire and hang up the boots and
they've earned enough money, yeah, you know, they'll come in
for driving the bus role for New Zealand cricket. Yeah.

Speaker 11 (58:10):
When you say retire, you mean like retire like when
they're sixty or not when they retire from the gap
from the game. No, I mean retire from coach when
they want to come back to New Zealand. They've got
enough money, They've got multiple units and property portfolio was
quite significant.

Speaker 1 (58:23):
Throughout own Half Power staff. Yes, I think they might.
They will, great, they might.

Speaker 3 (58:27):
My great uncle Billy Bush does that. He drives the
buses for the for the Blocks and the Crusaders. It's
giving back to the sporting community, that's right. Well, Dan
Vttori when he was playing, remember there was like one game,
one or two games where he was also the interim
coach and captain and manager. And I heard he was
driving the minivan as well.

Speaker 1 (58:43):
I wouldn't.

Speaker 11 (58:44):
I wouldn't put him behind the wheel of anything. Between
swimming and driving, they are the two two kind of
skills he.

Speaker 1 (58:50):
Does not have.

Speaker 3 (58:51):
There's another text here that I'd like to address with you, Lane.
It comes from Mike Green. Can you ask g Lane
if pressing the button stops the drip?

Speaker 4 (58:59):
Okay?

Speaker 11 (59:00):
I mean that came on the Agenda podcast around someone
reckons there's a button between the around.

Speaker 1 (59:05):
The goose here. Someone's in the room.

Speaker 11 (59:07):
Yeah, yeah, the reckons you can press that and it
empties the pipe when you're at a year in.

Speaker 1 (59:12):
Which stops leakage, stops the drip.

Speaker 11 (59:14):
Now, I have been fosking around there all week like
a man looking for new potatoes before Christmas, and I
cannot find the button.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
The button I found the sinker couple, get out of
the sink. I can't help it. You've been leaving your
dishes in the sinking way.

Speaker 11 (59:31):
I've been fostering around there. I cannot find this bottom button.
Know about the button about the But the.

Speaker 1 (59:37):
Other thing you can do with the button is you
can push the button at other times as well, moments
of moments of you can push the button and what happens?
Then that'll stop the drip? Does it stop it? It
will power throw, tempt to power throw, but it's being blocked.

(59:58):
What and there's nothing that where does it go? There?
Just stops? Your problem was you were so bloody focused
on Knight's castile and putting things in the sink hole
that you weren't thinking about what was going on the
I mean a lot of a lot of the time.
It's the chocolate button for me. Okay, anyway, all right, okay,

(01:00:21):
you seem busy. You see there's kids in the car. Possible,
you'll find it terrible illness. I was dealing with stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:00:30):
Jerry and min the Hurdarchy breakfast.

Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
Breakfast with Jerry and and I. Hey, we're buying a
shark and we're getting your help to buy the shark.
On the Give a Little page. If you want to
buy a piece of that shark, you can donate as
much money as you like, as little or as much.
And the easiest way to do it is to just
google Hura shark, yeah, and then follow it that way. Yeah,
don't go to give a little and then search it

(01:00:54):
that way. It's for some reason a little bit more difficult.
I don't know you, but you can also the linkers
in our bio and Ptagram.

Speaker 3 (01:01:00):
It's on aunts, sacram Story, it's on Facebook, which blasted
every ere so that you can find that. But yeah,
so people have donated ten like these three people, Trudy Kwan,
Bianca Honor and Freddy an hour ago donated one hundred
dollars between them and they just said do do do
do do do baby Shark. I like that neck you said,

(01:01:20):
you guys are legends and donated fifty dollars to love
her there. Champion Golfer of the Year Ryan Fox has
donated five hundred dollars as well. It's grat and then
a lot of people, the big guy upstairs has donated
fifty dollars. That's from Laundry Heaven, Laundry Mount and Grayland.
Tell you what, I will read your business name out.
If you want some promo on the show, go and

(01:01:41):
donate to the thing.

Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
We will read that out. Why the hell not, I
see Tomo's just coming with sixty nine dollars.

Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
Someone else donated four dollars twenty which I quite like
and then this one here for Millie Freyer and Elsie
who are all nine, seven and six who love sharks.
They want the shark to be called Finny and they
had to work around Chip done five, so got on them.
I think the big selling point that I don't think
any of us saw coming and someone takes it through
is this is your opportunity to own shears in a

(01:02:10):
shark with Ryan Fox. Yeah, that's right now. That is
one of the best conversation starters. You meet someone at
the pub. You know, you're at a first birthday party
for a kid. You don't even know the name of it.
You meet one of the other dads and you go, hey,
madam blah blah blah blah blah blah, Hey go yeah,
good tea.

Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
What I bought this week? A shark? You bought a shit? Yeah, man,
Ryan Fox, I was so nice this morning. We were
talking about it, and then Ryan Fox was listening and
then donated five hundred dollars, very very generous of them.
Open Championship winner Ryan Fox.

Speaker 3 (01:02:43):
Champion Golfer of the Year, which I like the idea
of calling a champion shark of the.

Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Year, and that gives him veto right on any of
the names. Yeah, sous his thing, what did it same an?
I don't guys are legends. Please don't give it a shiite. Yeah,
that's right. So he can determine whether or not it's
too shit. And I think that's what donating five hundred
dollars does for you, earns it. Yeah, yeah, so you
just google Google Hurdache Breakfast is buying a shark and

(01:03:08):
you should be able to follow the links. Have a
lovely weekend. Tony Lyle's up next for.
