Speaker 1 (00:00):
The hod Achy Breakfast gets it for winter with Buttings trade.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Jerry's away this week, so joining midnight on the hod
Ache Breakfast is the great New Zealander Ben Earley.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Good morning, welcome in to the show for a Tuesday.
It's Tuesday, the twenty sixth of May. And as you
just heard alongside Ben, early morning early that is me. Hello,
how did you get on this morning with the alarm?
Is it? Is it testing you this morning? Or are
you fine?

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Let me tell you what I did this morning five
minutes later than yesterday? Yeah, snoozed it? No, No, I
just thought I was. I was here about early. I
was here before you yesterday.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Yeah you were. Yeah, that's I'm not going to do
that unless our boss is listening, in which case I
was here at three thirty in the morning. People always
ask you when they know when they find out that
you work on breakfast radio, they go, oh jeez, what
time does your alarm go off? And I go, depends
who's asking. Yeah, the boss will asking about three, three
thirty and then here at about four if anyone else
is asking about five?

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Is that the question you get the most in your
life about anything?

Speaker 1 (00:57):
What's Jeremy Wells actually like because I think people can tell, Like,
he seems like a nice guy on TV, but behind
closed doors, we all know what he's like behind closed door,
horribly abusive.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
I often get asked it is allowed to talk because
he's away, but here we go. Yeah, he would normally
slap me on my wrist, on my left wrist.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:15):
I often get asked as Jerry well is a bit
of a dick? Yeah not not.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
What's he like? Is he a bit of a dick? Yeah?
People can tell. I think I think people can tell anyway. Yeah,
he's away this week Jerry is filming. I think we
could say it. What do I get task Master? Yeah,
that's why his way off six? Well? That getting through
a far few of them, now, aren't they are? Yeah,
and I think does pretty well. Overseas there's a task

(01:39):
Master community and I just want to watch mate Sweden.
It's crazy. Yeah, yeah, that's ridiculous. I don't know if
they got Jerry for the first season or two.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I get messages from all over the world from and
you know, I was only on at once.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Yeah, same here, but I wasn't even knowne.

Speaker 2 (01:55):
It was Paksasati, Jerry and men the hold ikey breakfast.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Sad news last night. You will have seen it all
over social media, all on the news as well. Dame
Jewels Top sixty eight, one half legendary in New Zealand
folk duo The Top Twins, has passed away peacefully at
home on Saturday, with the Twins sister Linda, brother Bruce,
and close friends and pets by her side. She had
breast cancer for about twenty years, having been first diagnosed
back in two thousand and six, and a joint statement

(02:24):
shared on the Top Twins Facebook page, the Top family
said Dame Gills was a true warrior woman. Dame Linda
Top has shared her twin sister's final message of thanks
to Kiwi's who you get a Chance?

Speaker 6 (02:35):
Linder? Could you think New Zealand for me? And so
we now on New Zealand would just like to thank
you for being there for us for over forty years.
We couldn't have done it without you. You made us
who we are. He made us to the Top of Twins.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Wow, I think you have to feel about the bed
because we just lose the bed. While we were all
in morning the great Dames going on.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
Dame jils An absolutely yeah, I mean legend is so
it doesn't seem to even cover it.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Because you would have known it, wouldn't you.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Yeah, yeah, I mean a number of times, and a
really lovely and generous person and obviously funny as all hell. Yeah,
and it's funny that they've been called in New Zealand
folk duo because you know, they kind of did it
with a massive tongue in their cheek. And yeah, and
I mean I screw up with the top tes that

(03:32):
we all do.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Yeah, you know national iods. I mean that's the sort
of banknote areas, the top tes and for so long
as well. Yeah, they maybe you could put one on
the five, one on the but then he'd be upset
about that. I just yeah, they are. They're one of
those ones where you look back you're like, oh, that's right,
that did this. And then Ken and Ken and the
whole thing and.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
The first comedy Nights in New Zealand. Yeah, I think
you still call them nights when they're names.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
But yeah, although did you know when you get damed damed,
you don't get the sword. They don't put the sword on.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Really no, and your partner doesn't become a sir a lady. Yeah, yeah,
a man of the realnd a bit of research, sh
would have known those things.

Speaker 1 (04:16):
But yeah, so Jill stops. She I just I feel
like it's one of those ones where you look back
and I mean, we just talked about fred Dagg the
other day and the impact that he had, and then
you know, so long, so far on from where they started,
you look back here, Oh that's right, that thing, Oh
and then that thing. You know, it's like a band
that has all those number one hits that you forget
about and then when you look back, you go, oh

(04:37):
my god, I forgot about that and this, and yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
I remember bonding with her in about twenty twenty one
when we talked about how we none of us had
any work because of COVID and shared the same experience
as I did, where you know, in two days, all
of our all of everything we had in our diary
got just evaporated, just evaporated. And I was like, Wow,
this is so weird. I'm kind of bonding of it
over the same experience with somebody who's you know, I

(05:03):
watched when I.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Was a kid. Yeah, work chat with the New Zealand.
I Yeah, unreal and busy, that's basically it. Yeah, so
very sad that she's she's gone, and I don't know.
Thoughts and prayers such as they are with the family.

Speaker 7 (05:18):
Jerry Edmond Night, The hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
I already had a fun fact about the Collective Souls.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
I didn't know if it was a lie or not,
but I saw it on soci med the other day
that apparently when they first recorded that song, the lead
singer was looking for a weird effect on his voice
and they tried a couple of pedals because they were
quite poor at the time, so they didn't really have
very many effects they could use. And he's like, what
if I just do it through a toilet roll?

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Yeah, And they're like, oh, let's keep that. And the
actual recording.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
That's interesting because I don't it just sounds like he's going, yeah,
you're up into the mic. I don't really hear any
toilet roll in that. God bless him for having a
crack with the toilet rolls.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
I'm some relation to this and that. One time, early
in my comedy career, I turned up to MC and
Open Mic Night and there was you just kind of
get handed the list of exeter on.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
You won't know any of.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
Them and there was a guy on there and I'd
met him, like I'd shaken his hand, and he was
a man of Polynesian descent, and written down was I
assumed his name was Dwayne Pipe, right, Dwayne pepe p
I p E was a surname. I was like, oh, yeah,
he's a Mario or pacifica man. It must be Pepe

(06:31):
And I said, just checking the prouncesshivir last name bo
and he goes pipe, It's Dwayne Pipe. I was like, oh,
Dwayne Pipe. I get it. It's a it's a little
pun there, Dwayne Pipe. Dwayne Pipe. And his act was
that he had a piece of pipe and he did
impressions through the pipe of like Darth Vader and stuff.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Oh really yeah?

Speaker 3 (06:55):
So if he put the pipe up to the mic
and he went, it gave a kind of echoing effect.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Was it good?

Speaker 3 (07:05):
So I've not seen Dayne Pipe on the scene since no.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
I might have lost his pipe. Did he did he
have any collective soul in his and his routine?

Speaker 3 (07:18):
I actually can't remember what else he did. I definitely
remember the Dark Vader, but give three or four, I
don't remember.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
Did he do it?

Speaker 5 (07:25):
Darlk from Doctor Hill would work quite well.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Three po.

Speaker 3 (07:31):
I mean, I think I feel like there was only
one Star Wars.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
And there right.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
No jub of the hut.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Shout out, Dwayne Pipe. If you're out there, give.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Us a call. I'd love to hear from you, only
if you've got the pipe though, I don't want to
hear from it coming up next to if you'll indulged me, yesaid,
I told a story about one hundred man punch up
in bell Clother. I've got a part two to that story.
If you found quite one boring, this next one is
going to put you to everyone makes a hundred men
for all they do. Jerry in the night the breakfast yesterday,

(08:07):
Fellas we're talking about your tour of the South early
you ended up down there in bell Clother place.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Let me tell you about bew Clother's Community Center.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Please.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
It's a multi million dollar building. Oh really, it costs
a lot of money. Right next to I'm going to say,
the best bridge in New Zealand, one of the yeah,
one of the greats down there.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
What is it.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
It's a sort of sex humper, yeah yeah, so with
the Auckland Harbor Ridge they called it one a one
humper yeah, but this says sex hump.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Yeah, it's sort of similar to something you might say,
Hamilton's got a couple of these humpers. Yeah yeah, but
not quite the more high humpers and quite compact.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
But Orkham Harbor Bridge is just a t MO copy
of the Sydney harbr Bridge. Right yeah, and this bewcluther
Bridge the sex humper. Yeah, I feel like it's seven
now I'm saying this. Anyway, we'll check it out. Reach
out bell clothing. Yeah, telling how many humps you got
on your bridge. It's very you know, iconic, it's very.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Basically yeah, yeah, one hundred percent. Well, yeah, they had
no one to rip off because they're so isolated. I
mentioned yesterday that when I was a kid, my only
one of my main memories of Belle Clother was that
we were on a family holiday, my mum and I
to the Catlands and the car broke down. I must
have been about maybe ten eleven.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
What time a year are we talking here?

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Well you would think summer, wouldn't you. My memory of
it is it was a winter, although summers down there
and winters are Yeah, it's a gray area. It was
a gray area, so it was could there were frosts.
I will say that. Anyway, in the middle of the
night we had to catch because the car blew up.
We had to catch a bus back to Wayomandi from
the Catlands overnight and we stopped in bell Clothered to

(09:47):
pick a couple of people up. But pick up point
was outside the pub and one hundred man brawl erupted
out of the pub as we picked up. As we
pulled up, so we had to do a couple of
laps of town that's actually a council meeting. Yeah, and
so we come background. We finally got those people and
we left. For some reason. This bus back in the
day it was called the night Rider k n igh.

(10:09):
Did it talk to the driver? No? No, but it
was black and it had a TV with a VHS
thing in it awesome, And we watched is it Dante's
Peak or something like that?

Speaker 3 (10:19):
As a volcano Mo? Yeah, what was that Linda Hamilton
in it? You also, Pierce President? Am I thinking about
the same film?

Speaker 1 (10:26):
I think so, yeah, And it's not not a relaxing
movie for an eleven year old child who has just
watched one hundred man scrap after breaking down in the
middle of nowhere. You know, that did not lull me
to sleep. So anyway, we get dropped off in the
middle of town, in the middle of waym meta from
after midnight. It must have been like one, almost two
in the morning, something like that, and my mum had
been trying to ring her parents, my grandparents to come

(10:47):
pick us up. Dar asleep, phone off the hook, Yeah,
not coming, okay, sweat. Well, we had all our bags
and she's like, it's about probably like a four or
five k walk back to our house from we were
we were. She's like, I'm not carrying these bags. Where
they dropped us off was outside the police station, and
so she thought, well, if I leave the bags here,

(11:08):
then they'll be safe.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
And it's going to steal from outside of the police station, right.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
So she puts them in like around the fence behind
like in the car park of the police station, and
we walk home in the middle of the night. We
get home, she's like, oh, thank god. We come back
down the next morning and she comes to pick her
bags up. She goes, hire, I lift some bags here
last time. And they're like, oh my god, that was you,
and she's like yeah, and they go we thought they

(11:31):
were a bomb, and so the standard bomb procedure was
to hose them down. Mum's like I took out like
ten books from the library for this holiday because she
just wanted to read all these books and they all
got hosed down by the bomb squad at the Waamedy
police station.

Speaker 3 (11:47):
I love that that's the only thing they thought to
do was chuck water on it.

Speaker 7 (11:52):
Jerry and Mian Night the hot Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
It's time for your sports headlines thanks to ex word
ultra of the beer for.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Here Australian regular chair Peter Orlandi's claims only Superman and
Jesus added together could possibly replace Andrew Abdo as that
he's not prone to exaggerations. He Peter Vlandis. As NRL
begins searching for a new chief executive, ABDA will move
on mid July after six years in the job to
lead Tennis Australia.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
Is that is that emotion? It's not a promotion. Wouldn't
have thought so, although I reckon it'd be pretty crazy
because all you had have to do is the Australian Open,
really and then tell grassroots tennis to go stuff themselves
and then.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
Oh and just you know, opening the paper on a
Monday would be a lot happier with Tennis Australia.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Rather than NRL. That's a good point, although Carrios are
still playing.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
He took the reins during the COVID pandemic oversaw games,
headed to Las Vegas and prepared the entry of Perth
and pip on New Guinea expansion franchises over the next
two seasons. England of trounced the White Fans by seven
wickets chasing eighty one. Chee is, come on, girls out
that for eighty one were thirty seven balls to spare

(13:03):
and the deciding rubber of their three match women's T
twenty series at.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
Home twenty and they had thirty s bulls speeding it.
Yeah's quite a lot. That's it. That is it? Six overs?
That is a trouncing and.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Argentine Tinian football Leonel Messi has suff a left handstring
injury scare before the World Cup. The thirty eight year
old requested a precautionary substitution during into Miami's Major League
Soccer match on the weekend. Messi has expected return for
an record equaling sixth appearance at the global showpiece when

(13:37):
Argentina defend their title. The squad is name next week.
The opening game is against Algeria on June the sixteenth.
Do you know what I've always thought? Isn't it weird
that probably the greatest football player of our generation is
called Lionel?

Speaker 1 (13:50):
What are you need?

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Same man?

Speaker 1 (13:54):
That is a good point. Yeah, that doesn't sit rup now,
but it's Leonel. So that's it's slightly better.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Isn't that kind of as you the f you all
black captain?

Speaker 2 (14:02):
It's called like Nigel, Jerry and Mini the hold Ikey breakfast.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Father of two. You would have seen this morning. This
is the top story on many of the news outlets.
Has reached his wits end of the group of boy
racers who have spent months keeping his household awake, so
he took desperate and illegal measures with a paintball gun.
Ben Savage, thirty four, his partner, and his two young
kids moved into their house near the New Napier subdivision

(14:28):
of Mission Hills about eighteen months ago, but soon became
apparent that subdivision was a popular nighthorn for youths and
dozens of cars who would listen to me, I'm reading
this word for word. Here are you? That was so
loud to shook the walls of the houses.

Speaker 8 (14:41):
There could be as many as thirty cars parking up
there at a time, partying, drinking, smoking, yelling, screaming.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
I'd had enough.

Speaker 8 (14:50):
Cops haven't done anything, council haven't done anything. Finally lost
my ship. I suppose had a paintball gun in the house,
grabbed that, loaded it up with about five hundred odd balls,
snuck up so they couldn't see me through the bushes
and just let loose, just cover their cars and paintballs
didn't hurt anyone, didn't hurt anyone. That's still they're really

(15:10):
pissed off with me.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
Now they know my.

Speaker 8 (15:12):
Name because it's all country, the courts and stuff. I
got arrested for it.

Speaker 1 (15:18):
Yeah so, I said. Over several minutes, he fired five
hundred paintballs at the cars, but a very short time later,
the house was arrested by surrounded rather by the armed
defenders squad. Savage and electrician and refrigeration engineer had no
previous convictions. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to forty
hours community work and had his paintball gun confiscated. I
think it's fair he's taking it on the chin except

(15:39):
he overreacted.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
I think he should have been charged with the charge
of being a freaking allegiance.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
What are you supposed to do if people are doing that,
you know, if the b races are out there.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
This is what happens. They got rid of Crush of Collins. Yeah,
and I got pushed out of and now it's bedlam
on the streets.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
Yeah, the Minister of Space gets pushed out. Then all
of a sudden people are going to take vigilante justice.
I think we've all had that sort of I mean
Becker's and he Es today talking about how she's just
moved into a new flat and her upstairs neighbors are
driving her insane. We're who I think, polite as key
he is to be able to do anything about it.
I have the same sort of thing with someone. There
is a guy across the road from my house who

(16:21):
does an insane amount of motorized yard work for an
urban Auckland house. His yard can't be you know, thirty
meters square.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
It's a man who's inside people are driving him insane.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Oh one hundred. So there's him. He's I don't know why,
he's just got this array of like weed whackers, and
hedge trimmers and all sorts, and he is out there
all hours of every weekend. It never stops. And then
the guy directly next to him I have witnessed before
sweeping his own driveway in a hurricane. And I was
looking at that, going how much to have to hate

(16:57):
you wife to go out and sweep drive away in
a hurricane? So, yeah, I don't know what are we doing.
We're getting a paintball gun and just in case they
come back past again. See how permanence that paint. Yeah,
I don't know. I don't think it'll be too permanent,
be annoying more than anything. Just from the stags that
I've been on, I don't feel like it's going to
reduce the amount of cars. No, no, no. Also, if

(17:20):
I'm a boy racer and I'm I hear about that,
I'm getting my own paintball gun and going back out
to that same, that same neighborhood again.

Speaker 3 (17:29):
Okay, Yeah, we've just given them an idea, now, Jerry.

Speaker 7 (17:33):
Ed Midnight the hold I keep breakfast.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
We're just talking about Feller who took medics into his
own hands with the paintball gun after boy Erasers were
doing boonouts. In his neighborhood TEXTA on three four A three,
I say more paintball guns driving ninety in the fast lane,
Paintbaard's leaving your shopping TROI sideways in the middle of
the aisle, paintballed, not using indicators at all. That around
about paintballed quickly becomes apparent what kind of human you

(17:57):
are if you're driving around with paintball's on you. I
don't mind, it's true. Yeah, tag them yeah, tag them up. Yeah.
It'll be a real like mark of embarrassment to be
driving around with paintballs all over the sod he can
over night Fellers. I don't know if you saw the
Gloucester Cheese Roll. Now, this is the event that Mark
Ellis won it one year. It's in Glocester of all places,

(18:19):
and they roll. If you can believe this a piece
of cheese and you have to chase it down a
wheel wheel a wheel of cheese. Now that where they
roll it down is it doesn't look I've been there before,
years and years and years ago. TV doesn't do it justice.
Photos don't do it justice. It is essentially a grass cliff,
and what makes it worse is one side of it

(18:41):
because it's just a cliff, but this is not like
a professionally run sporting event, so there are stinging needles
all down one side of it, which is of course
the fastest way down the track is to go through
the stinging needles. The council have distanced themselves from it,
so there's no ambulance there. All of the first aid
and stuff provided by locals, the local rugby team because

(19:03):
the cliff goes basically into a fence and then there's
like a block of flats right there, so the local
rugby team stands at the bottom to catch people as
they come down to the bottom. Although I will say
when I was there, a few of the boys are
pretty keen to put some shots on that size you up,
and if you were like a pretty capable looking bloke,

(19:24):
they're putting a shot on you.

Speaker 3 (19:25):
Yeah. I've got two questions right. The first is when
you watch it, people quite often just kind of throw
themselves down the cliff, which just looks, you know, just
get ragged old. Yes, loudness cliff. Is that a good method?

Speaker 1 (19:42):
It can be because the guy, one of the guys
that I saw that had won it, and they do
often win multiples the guy that won it. When I
was there, that seemed to be his strategy. He did
just cartwheel himself down the hill. Some people try, I
think we you come on stuck. Is if you think
you're going to stay upright the whole way down, you're
just not. So if you surrendered to it, then you're away.

Speaker 3 (20:03):
My second question, supplementary question was the speaker, is how
much pressure is there on the on the cheese roller,
because yes, there's there's so many phones on it now,
it's all over social media, you know, Breakfast radio talks
about it every single year. Right, is great content. But

(20:23):
there's one person at the top who's going to roll
the wheel of cheese and if they get it slightly
wrong and it just kind of falls on its side
and gets stuck in the cliff, yes, or a d
shrinker that would.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Be rolled a couple of times. It rolled off the
side of the track, right, And at that point it's
just whoever gets down the it's whoever catches it all
gets down the hill first. I see, but so so
because the council have banned it or tried to ban it,
so the ambulances won't go there, but they do set
up a triarche thing in town. They also went after

(20:54):
it because it's the same family that's been making the
cheese for hundreds of years, and so they went after
the family and said, if you make cheese for this,
we're going to see you for endangering people's lives for
making this wheel of cheese. Yes, so for a few
years there in the sort of late two thousands, the
cheese was actually plastic and it wasn't a cheese because
they'd gotten hold of them. And yeah, this old fellow

(21:15):
was telling us this, you at the top of the
cliff and and he goes, yeah. And I turned up
one year and I thought, cheese. I've never seen a
cheese behave like that. And turns out it was plastic.
While we were there, after they run the races, they
open it up and you can climb up it and
have a look whatever. Everyone was crawling all over it,
and then we hear this thick Scottish accent which I
won't do. A guy at the top is just like, everyone,

(21:36):
watch out, I'm about to go down on a bike.
And we're like, oh, holy shit. So we look up there,
sure enough, there is on his bike. He goes down
immediately cart wheels over the front, over the handlebars and
the bike just goes cartwheeling down the cliff. Hits this
lady who was sitting on the on the track, just
hits her in the back of the head. She's like,
oh my god. She goes down in her hum she's crying.

(21:57):
Her friend's over there to help her. For reason, instead
of going sideways off the track because there's Foresty decides
you walk off and be in the book. She decides,
once she gathered herself to stand up and try and
walk straight down in a straight line. Now it's got concussion. Well, yes,
you probably can see where this one's going. Well about

(22:18):
five minutes later we hear the same Scottish accent from
the top of the hill. He's trying again. He goes
down the hill, comes off the hand of ours, rolls down.
HiT's the same girl in the back of the y Aggain. Yeah,
that was one of the most incredible things I've ever said.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
I smell conspiracy. They were trying to get content for
YouTube Jerry and the.

Speaker 7 (22:40):
Night the Hoarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 9 (22:43):
Jerry and I are joined the complayt the Hadaki Breakfast
discussion group on Facebook for US Today.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
Earlier we were talking about who if we were going
to send a New Zealander to the moon, who would
be the first New Zealander?

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Yeah, what's proud Altiroian are we going to send to
represent our nation?

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Because it's something that you had asked the great New
Zealanders of. Unsurprisingly, they all had one answer, unanimously, Richie
McCall and so we put it to you yesterday the
listener on three four, eight, three and eight hundred. Hodaky,
here we just sent too the moon. There was a
lot of people suggesting that we just package people up
and just shoot them off into space.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
It's not what we're going for. We were hoping for
this to be an honor.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Yes, that's right, bestowed upon a representative of our people.
Somebody text her and said, Steven Adams is the tallest
New Zealander. He's already closest to the moon as it is.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
And he knows how to use a seat belt because
of his cameo in the New Zealand safety video.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
That's right. So they said, seems to me as the
most qualified because of this. And then you said, well
he wouldn't is he the tallest news Yalander? Well you
thought he might have I think he is. I've never
seen anyone taller that. He's pretty bloody tall. He is huge.
Even on a basketball court full of tall people, he's
still pretty bloody tall. According to Guinness World Records obviously

(24:01):
Robert Wadlow in the US, anyone who had a Guinness
World Records book for Christmas as a kid? None. This
is eight foot eleven inches only lived to what twenty two?
You don't see many tall people get that, old dear.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
No, really a lot of you know, the heart's doing
a lot of work to pump blood to those extremities.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Yeap. The current tallest living person in the world is
a seller from Turkey who is eight foot two. He's
forty three. Oh right, you won't get much older than that.
New Zealand's tallest know one person is Johnty Butterfield from Papakuta,
who stands to two meters twenty nine seven foot five
seven five. Steven Adams is officially listed at six foot eleven.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Can we get Johnty Butterfield on the phone?

Speaker 1 (24:44):
Reach out John Dy if you're listening on eight hundred Hidaki.
We took to ssh med yesterday to try and find
out if anyone was taller if they could get in
touchs taller than Steven and feel free to get in
touch by the way, three four eight three or eight hundred,
Haidaki as well, someone's text through Susie Cato. I've met
Susie Cato. I'm taller than Susio. Yeah. The messages have

(25:07):
come through Thirk and Fast. On social media, Jeff has
written no. In response to our question are you taller
than Steven? Adams Hayden has written I am not Biggs Nope.
Coln Smith No. Also six eleven two separate measurements. A
nice one got them. Alex Pledger, the New Zealand Breaker,

(25:28):
is officially the tallest man in the Southern Hemisphere at
seven point one feet. According to Blake and Fergus said
when I had hind or tender years.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
Ah, yes, So men traditionally, you know, lie about their
height on on dating apps to try and make them
say seemed taller. Yes, everybody's got to be six foot yeah,
basically to get a date.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
I think I think the one what they do is
they go six to one, because if you go six
foot then that's obvious that you're lying.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
I'm genuinely sex foot. I'm somewhere between six foot and
six foot one.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
I'm genuinely six one as well.

Speaker 3 (26:00):
Ben, that's quite a bit taller than you. I know
somebody lies about it the other way.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Really, Yes, Jerry.

Speaker 7 (26:11):
And Mian Night the Hotarchy Breakfast, you just joined us.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
We're in the midst of trying to find someone who's
taller than Steven Adams out there, and we think, well,
I think Steven Adams is the tallest person in the world.
Yesterday we were trying to find someone else. Yeah, he's
now the tallest person that's existed, He's the tallest living organism.
Yesterday we're looking for if we're going to send a
kevy to the Moon, who would be the first New
Zealander we've sent up there. Someone text her and said,

(26:35):
Stephen Adams. Surely, because he's already he's the closest Kiwi anyway,
being the tallest. I reckon he is. You're not so sure,
you reckon there might be a taller person out there.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Well, we haven't found them yet, so at the moment
you're so scientific, hypothesis is proven correct. Yes, it's somebody's text.
And I'm not taller, but I am higher, which is,
you know, at twenty past seven in the morning morning.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
Yeah, congratulations to you. There was a message thron Sosh
mid last night from Fergus Watson saying when I had
hinge or tender years, so I was taller than Steven Adams.
You know someone who goes the other one because obviously
everyone lies about how tall they are.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
But he's not on dating apps as far as I'm aware.
He's heavily married man. But ex black Cap Kyle Mills
is six' five but tells everybody's six four because AND i,
quote six five is a bit. Freakish is that that's
what he? Says he. GOES i feel like that's the
tip over to Freak, Okay.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
I'll give you that six five is pretty as pretty
tall as pretty pretty. TALL i have heard of a
there's a woman who is about six foot two and
she told every man that she met that she was
five to eleven to freak them. Out, yeah, right because
then obviously if you're standing next to her and, oh
she's five eleven And i'm been telling Everyone i'm six

(27:52):
Foot i'm actually a three four inches. Shorter someone, said
howld the giraffe surely must be tall a great new
in on another one? Here can we get a short
person basketball league going a bit like weight limits and?
RUGBY i like, that and under six foot basketball league
and we lower the. Hoops i'm taller lying on my.
Back hang on a. MINUTE i see what they're saying.

(28:13):
THERE i see what they're. Saying come, on be.

Speaker 3 (28:16):
BETTER i was in a bar last week and there
were three, women all of WHOM i, know who are
all over six to.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Two all they don't really know each, other but the
convention or something well there.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Today if somebody walks into this bar right, now they'll,
go is there something on in town.

Speaker 1 (28:36):
For the tall? Girls? All, right, WELL i think we
can put that one to. Bed i'm, right you're. On
Steven adams is the tallest person in the guard. DRINK
i don't. Know let's go along on his bank with
his big six Foot.

Speaker 7 (28:49):
Jerry And. Mini The hodarchy breakfast.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Athletes have gathered In Las vegas for the first of
it Enhanced. Games they're calling it These Steroid, olympics which
is ironic because that assumes that the Actual olympics isn't
riddled with. Steroids about forty, sprinters, swimmers and weightlifters have
spent the past four months jabbing needles in their backside
with combinations of, testosterone human, growth homeworine pet, tides and anibox.

(29:12):
Steroids i've got.

Speaker 3 (29:13):
A, question is there do they still do drug tests
to check they haven't overdone?

Speaker 1 (29:17):
It that's what they were. Saying, yes apparently there are
some things that they are allowed to do and some
there are still some THINGS i think they're not allowed
to do BECAUSE i think what they don't want is
they don't want someone having a heart, attack you, know
or they don't want someone just ripping their peck clean
off the. Bones it would be worse to.

Speaker 3 (29:32):
Someone running at six second hundred meters and then their
heart exploding at the.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
End, yeah that's exactly, right but off. Camera, Yeah so
they've got million dollars one point Seven New zealand for
beating world. Records organizers protected the world records would be.
Toppled the swimmers are allowed to use those supersuits From Beijing,
olympics you, know when all the records started toppling and
they had the they were like buoyant with shark fins
on them or something like. That they built themselves a

(29:59):
fifty million dollar arena and where Else Las, vegas a
structure dismantled hours after the final race for it was
either going to Be Las vegas or out the front
of The White. House yeah, yeah well by clean athlete
now that is in Quotations Fred. Curley he ran the
one hundred meters and a nine point nine seven seconds

(30:20):
to win a race where the sprender's head to be
placed in the starting block four times because of false,
starts untied, shoes and roid rage.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
Shoes it really doesn't fit YOUR, iq doesn't it takeing
a lot of?

Speaker 1 (30:31):
Roads? Yeah, yeah Prodected Usain bolts world record of nine
point five eight would get. Destroyed he ran a time
which would have placed him last at The Paris olympics
two years, ago where he actually ran nine point eight
and one. Bronze oh so it made him, Worse it
made him. Slower. Yeah, well this is the other hard
part about this is the only, like you don't go

(30:51):
to the Steroid olympics and then go back to the Actual.
Olympics you, know there's always so these are all recently
retired athletes who are, like you know, what let me
have one more. Crap the only athlete to win the
million dollars bonus for going faster than the world record
Was Christian, golomeive who closed the night by swimming the
fifty meter freestyle and twenty point eight one. Seconds that,

(31:12):
is it was like point seven of a second, faster
okay than the world, record which was only said about a.
Week that's a bit of an anti. CLIMAX i didn't
really care about the fifty minutes. Freestyle. Yes fellow clean
athlete quote Unquote Tristan evelyn's won the woman's hundred meters.
Sprent her time of eleven point twenty five seconds was
slower than Flow jo's thirty eight year old world record

(31:32):
Flow jo which is ten point four N it was
almost in false see was, clean, right? Yeah. Sure australian
Swimmer james magnuson the. Missile he finished last than one
hundred meter and fifty meter freestyle at The Enhanced, games
despite having undergone two years of supervised. Doping now you
would have seen that he was one of the first
people that came out and Said i'm going to have
a crack at. This he'd recently retired and he was, like, well,

(31:55):
look ifucking do, steroids this gives me another couple of
years of competing and last year he in an, interview
said he got too. Big he basically has lats and
shoulders were so big his arms couldn't move. Anymore i'll
tell you. What it didn't look. Like it slimmed. Down
did you see? Him have you seen photos of them
at the at this?

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Thing, YEAH i can tell you what hasn't got any.
Bigger roids tend to affect another organ in a different. Way,
yeah but THAT i mean it's more sleek in the.

Speaker 3 (46:19):
Time motorists who fail to fit snow chains and icye
your snowing conditions in The Queenstown Lakes district roads will
face a seven hundred and fifty dollars.

Speaker 1 (46:29):
Five this is horrible news For Jeremy James Trummond wells
because he famously cannot fit the chains to his own
car and he makes his wife get oh unmarried there
living out of. Wedlock his fiance of twenty something years
get out of the car and put the chains on
for him while he sits in and warms his hands
on the. Head, WELL i like.

Speaker 3 (46:51):
THAT i think that's empowering for. Women, Actually i'm going
to stand up For Jeremy james Trumming.

Speaker 1 (46:55):
WELL i think they should double as fine council.

Speaker 3 (46:59):
Staff contractors will assess the roads to determine when the
snow or ice has made conditions.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
Unsafe how do you find that out when there is?
SNOW i suppose.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
So, yeah but the council staff have to assess the.
Conditions get the word, out, yep, yeah get the word.

Speaker 1 (47:16):

there dost off your ear Mufs invercargo has a new noisiest,

Street we are now going to cross to our international,
Correspondent Menia.

Speaker 1 (48:23):
Stewart, yeah thanks. Being The Scott's Bluff Police department in
The United states was called to a convenience store On

Speaker 9 (49:19):
Night The Hoarcky breakfast daily bespoke content that you won't
find on the radio Show The Hodarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (49:26):
Podcast Alexander misco is on his Final boss twenty twenty six.
Tour he is all over the. Country he Started may.
Fourteenth he's Playing friday In. Topor there's still a few
tickets for a few of the other. Gigs he's going
to just about every single. Town it's a good spread
across the more. Too yeah In New zealand and he
joins us this. Morning you can hear him playing in the.

(49:47):
Background here, Morning Alexander. Whitt whereabouts in the country are
you this? Morning?

Speaker 10 (49:52):
Hey, KILLED i think you for having me goes such a.
Pleasure we are in a nepier. Now plead to Show
hugh the day before, well and WHEN i Played yeah
the day, BEFORE i thank. YOU i, yes we ever
had a day Of today we're going To tower To
topol and the show is tomorrow and there are still
eight more to. Go So i've been all around the.

Speaker 1 (50:13):
Place i've been watching your videos on social. Media obviously
the music sounds, great but it's so impressive to watch
there's just so much going on your one man. Band
as someone who can play a couple of chordes on the,
guitar it really annoys. Me i've gotta be honest with,
You at what point did you decide just playing the
guitar normally is too? Easy, well that's a good.

Speaker 10 (50:33):
Question it's not really. Easy it's just too boring because
everything that sounds like a guitar doesn't excite. Me so
that's WHY i had to well take extreme measures and
the final find sounds and ways how to produce those
sounds that are unconventional but still musical and basically imitating other.
Instruments so whether it's, drums whether IT'S i don't, know,

(50:54):
singing or flutes or any other instrument you might think,
of but not, guitar because guitar on a, SELF i
think the exhausted all the sound possibilities that it, has
and that's that's a. Tragedy, tragedy that's that's. Boring SO
i had to do something.

Speaker 3 (51:08):
Else so for those of people out, there which will
be very, few haven't seen your. Videos you've got a
lot of followers on social. Media now you you know
you're playing with one, hand you're with you're using the
turners and with the other.

Speaker 1 (51:23):
Hand are you left or right? Handed or are you
just are you ambid?

Speaker 10 (51:28):
Stress, well at this point is hard to, say but
Actually i'm left. Handed so my guitar is also left.
Handed and if, you, well as a right handed guitar,
player would pick up my, guitar the strings would be,
inverted so your lower string would be on top and
the ticket in a string. Below so that's it's so
basically it's a mirror version of a normal. Guitar and there's,

(51:50):
LIKE i don't, know maybe five percent of all the
guitar population people they are left. Handers so it's not
that easy to find a good left handed guitar in.
General but so that's WHY i had to invent.

Speaker 1 (51:59):
Mine, yeah well that's WHAT i was going to ask.
You so this guitar that you're playing in the front
That i'm looking at you, now it's got is that
you can like leavers on the, churners so that you
can churn and day tune while you're. Playing there's all
sorts of bets and bobs on there for percussion and
various different things on. There did you build that thing?

Speaker 10 (52:16):
Yourself it's built together with The german Company i'm working.
With it's Called Baton Rouge guitars In germany and well
has nothing to do With Baton ruge And louisiana In.
America and, yeah basically so it's the only one guitar
in the. World we call it The frankenstein. Guitar it's
my signature, model but his nickname Is, frankenstein and it's, just,

(52:37):
yeah quite, issually the only one guitar in the world
that can do all these, things that has all these,
possibilities technical. Possibilities but then on top of, THAT i write.
Music that's what kind of explains these possibilities and expresses
well my ideas through this. Guitar, sabeltically it's the instrument
for my music and just for.

Speaker 3 (52:57):
Me now you're half, three you, too you've started and found.
It you're working your way right down To south And.
Naden what so far have you thought of The New zealand?
Crowds is it any way that's being a bit a bit.

Speaker 10 (53:11):
Rowdy the crowds have been Awesome i'm happy to see
great response and that we have full houses almost in
every city and the people are super. Sweet, ALSO i
enjoyed the fact that the audience is pretty. Diverse there's
like older people and younger people and families with. Kids
i'm just happy to see that WHAT i do is

(53:31):
accessible to all sorts of, well to all sorts of,
ages and also on top of, that not only. Musicians
this is super. Important like every time every concert ask
how many normal people? Here shows me meaning meaning not guitar. Players, yeah, yeah,
Yeah and there's always, LIKE i don't, know seventy eighty,
percent so most of them are well non musicians or

(53:51):
like non guitar, Players and it just always makes me
so happy to see. That, okay even though WHAT i
do is inherently really nerdy and, something but it still
well finds a way to reflect the to resonate with people.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
Well Alexander Misco's Final boss twenty twenty six tour still
has a couple of stops left in top Or bowls
run In south D New, Plymouth, Pi, Kakiki, Wellington nelson
all sold. Out gun and look him up On Instagram
Alexander moscow.

Speaker 3 (54:20):
Or just go to one of those gigs wait, outside
invite him to a, party and, he'll you, know he'll
pick up a, guitar won't, You?

Speaker 10 (54:27):
Alexander IF i would pick up a guitar at a, Party, yeah.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
At a, party you, know there's always the guy at
the party with a guitar who usually you, know strums
out Wonder wall or something like. That and you, know
imagine inviting you to your party and play something we all.

Speaker 10 (54:43):
Know, well my guitar is not for, parties, obviously he's
a lot of amplification and cables and all that. Stuff
BUT i do love playing gamfire. Songs so if there's
a normal guitar at a, PARTY i WOULD i would
love to strump some Wonder, Wall.

Speaker 7 (54:58):
Jerry, aman The HOT I Key, breakfast and something called My.

Speaker 1 (55:03):
Ear we were discussing off here something that you'd just
become aware of, early which was That ruder has been
in love fifteen. Times we call it the first. Fifteen,
yeah the first fifteen of.

Speaker 4 (55:13):
Love big list selected By Graham. Henry actually, right, okay
over many.

Speaker 1 (55:18):
Years, Selective, Yes ruder be, Hey ruder be. BETTER i.
Can't it's probably a faitness. Issue so fifteen Times ruder
has told a woman that he, loves just been in
love with. Them i've been in love with.

Speaker 4 (55:35):
THEM i believe number eleven on the list doesn't know
still to, This, okay she still doesn't, know And i've
considered letting her.

Speaker 1 (55:42):
KNOW i think she, knows AND i be, HONEST i
think every woman on this list is.

Speaker 5 (55:46):
AWARE a friend of mine has advised me very strongly
to not tell.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
This but you told fourteen of? Them, yeah, yeah, Absolutely,
okay so fifteen in. Total my favorite stat out of
that is their current wife is number, Fourteen, yeah WHICH
i just absolutely. Love and That ruda mentioned another thing
just before we a song. Finished we didn't get a
chance to follow up on, it and it was That

(56:11):
ruder's current life number fourteen to fifteen when they first,
met gave him a fake phone.

Speaker 4 (56:17):
Number, well there is some conjecture around, that, yes and
she can't confirm ther, tonight which makes me wonder if
she's just trying to not hurt my. Feelings but back
in the, day played in a covers band actually very
close to here at The empire and only a couple
of blocks, Away hot And.

Speaker 1 (56:34):
Well and the sky's the.

Speaker 4 (56:37):
Limit april sarl And cuba at The Brown Eat, Girl
broke It, Out blister and The, sun.

Speaker 1 (56:43):
All of the Favor Santa.

Speaker 4 (56:44):
Ria, Dude, YEAH i think every again and stuff like.
THAT i think every now and, again we're chucking a tool,
song which is probably just. Crazy AND i SAW i
saw her dancing on the dance. FLOOR i Thought i'd
like to hold that.

Speaker 1 (57:00):
Woman, YEAH i love her just about.

Speaker 4 (57:02):
Almost AND i Thought i'd, Like i'd like to get
to know about. It AND i pulled out the old, Classic,
hey what are you? Guys what are you guys? Doing after?
This we've just got to pack up and then we
might we might go, out which is very unlike me
because Normally i'll just go. Home BUT i, said, oh
a few guys are going, Out i'll grab one of your,
numbers because there was three of. Them BUT i looked
right at my now wife and she, goes, oh, Yeah

(57:24):
i'll give you my. Number and so THEN i got
the phone, number ended up not going out that, night
and messaged her and got absolutely no.

Speaker 5 (57:32):
Reply, okay AND i, thought what HAVE i done wrong?

Speaker 4 (57:36):
Here and eventually she and this is the thing that
makes me think that it was a mistake and she
didn't just give me the wrong.

Speaker 5 (57:44):
Number to just throw me. Off is that she eventually
found me On facebook and send a.

Speaker 3 (57:47):
MESSAGE i wonder how you eventually made contact because there's
a law that's coming today which means that you can
get up to five years in.

Speaker 5 (57:57):
Prison and now we've been married for fourteen so.

Speaker 1 (58:04):
Less than that for.
