Straight The hod Achy Breakfast with Jerry and Manaia.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Walk me along to the Friday edition of The Hidache
Breakfast Friday, the twelfth of June twenty twenty six. My days. Um,
he was this a nice jo.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
I am here.
Speaker 4 (00:16):
I've made it. I've made it into the studio. Don't
worry set an alarm. Turns out it is my phone.
The jack's a bit bun. I was blaming it on
the charger. I'm now blaming it on the phone.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Made the Missus sit an alarm on her phone.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
I was like, I just don't think I'll be able
to sleep tonight if you don't if I don't have
a backup.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Plane when in doubt, dragged the Missus into it.
Speaker 1 (00:37):
Yep, drag the messages into it. Geez.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
She was stoked about that when her alarm went off
this morning, because she you know, when you're so My
alarm goes off five o'clock every morning. She does her
best to sleep through that. If it wakes her up,
she goes straight back to sleep.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
So that's what she was trying to do. Little did
sheina there was actually her alarm that was going off.
Speaker 5 (00:53):
I said yesterday, man, I, when you were not here yet,
that maybe it's time for us to get people's partner's
phone numbers and shut that down very fast, because I
was like, think we had a jeffs phone number. Imagine
if you had Jeff's phone umb and I had Tux
his phone number.
Speaker 3 (01:08):
You don't need either of those phone numbers. I just
I mean, if anything will put them in under lock
and key, maybe give them to Zoe. Zoe could have them,
but I think we'll keep them away from your phone.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Right anyway, here rowing ready to go rip into a
Friday just the other week.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
We don't need our partner's ending up as number seventeen
and eighteen on that list of yours.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Oh no, is there already a seven teen?
Speaker 3 (01:38):
No yet?
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Who want's a shot at the title?
Speaker 3 (01:41):
No, it's still this morning, isn't there three hours of
the Shadow?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Gay, I Love You, Bore Jerry and Mini the hold
ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
No need for insulation this morning around the country. Thoughts
and prayers for Auckland, as it was potentially a headline
yesterday in the Herald, it said thoughts and press for
Auckland is as temperature could get down to as low
as three degrees in the morning. All right, it wasn't
it's nine, so so no need for any thoughts, no
(02:12):
need for any prayers. Also, really like three is that?
I mean there were parts of the country that were
minus two and minus three yesterday as.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
Parts of the country didn't get over three yesterday. Oh,
you guys are gonna have a whole headline about it.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
I mean, is that a headline?
Speaker 6 (02:30):
No?
Speaker 4 (02:30):
I suppose that's where most people in the country live. Still, yeah,
I don't.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Think that needs to be headline.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
The weather, not when it's like going to be cold
in the morning. When it is that's the morning. No. Yeah,
it's like sun comes up in Auckland tomorrow. Yep, sun
is coming up.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
Grass will be green, the sun is coming up, sky
will be blown. Yes, Was that the coldest temperature recorded
over there? If we're doing weather.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yet, well, I'm just doing the rounds at the moment,
and it's actually how mild the cold that I can
see here, Christ Hits four friends, Joseph, Franny three, Powerful,
Queenston one Andcgo five. So Team five it's not that cold.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
No, that's a barmie Balmie five down there in Timmas
Hamilton's five.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Looks like a nice day here though, is it?
Speaker 1 (03:19):
Sun's going to come out? Nice day?
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Nice day everywhere other than Dunedin and v Cargo and
Stuart Island where there could be some showers.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
It was a beautiful day yesterday, wasn't no guys, a
little work film shoot down on a beach in Auckland.
You know, I felt too warm. I got too warm
and it was catering and I thought that chocolate on
the biscuits was melting.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Well, you were dresses Dolly Parton. We were in period costume.
It was we were dress as pirates. We're meant to
be dress as pirates. You ended up turning up more
dress like wolf. Getting Amada's Mozart Yeah, yeah, you had
a blonde curly wig on was more great.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
It was more great, Yeah, it was.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
It was you were picturing Dolly partners. What was going
on there?
Speaker 3 (04:04):
It was a lot like Dolly Partnon.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
It was half Brian Mayhelf, James Mayhelf, Dolly Parton, half off.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Getting Amadaus was Buxham too.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah. Why did you need to stuff those tennisballs down
your top?
Speaker 5 (04:14):
I didn't need to it was just a choice, Jerry.
Sometimes it's not a choice.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Actually, Can I just say that for people who I
think most people probably have not been on a video
shot of any sort catering massively overcated.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Why is there so much food at those things?
Speaker 4 (04:29):
It's like we were there for two hours, we did
the show for four hours.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
No one brings us a damn thing.
Speaker 3 (04:33):
That's great.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
People on building sites for twelve hours a day.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
Nobody brings them a grape and we go down there
and film something, and every time we do, there's chocolate,
there's biscuits, there's food, and someone gets chewed out if
they don't get it either. Actor is the biggest divas
on God's Green Earth. Yes, in the middle of.
Speaker 3 (04:50):
The answers yes, what's going on?
Speaker 4 (04:52):
At one point, so this is like the second shot,
we would have been there for half an hour tops.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
We go to start film and.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
The cameraman just puts the camera down to go, sorry, Jason,
there's something on your just on the like half of
your shirt.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
What's that like a stick or a branch or something.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
It was an entire stem of from a grape, a
bunch of grapes.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
He had eaten an.
Speaker 4 (05:16):
Entire but basically all of the grapes that were there
for the entire day, for the entire cast and crew.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
He had basically a grapevine on a sleep. He basically
had the whole of Marlborough. Yeah, that was coming out
of the side of the whole of New Zealand's wine
growing region was merging out the side of his right.
Speaker 4 (05:33):
So there's going to be a shortage of wine for
twenty twenty six because of the amount of grapes that
he had eaten before we'd even started. And then and
then I don't know what he'd try to do, like
throw the throw the grape thing away.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
Yeah, But also can I point out to something else
about this particular video shoot, because yeah, I saw that
moment and there was a part of a grape vine
coming out of the side of his sleeve. Yeah, and
that was someone Well what's that got to do with
the shirt? But he was also wearing a pair of
tracksuit pants with his pirate outfit and a pair of
blondstone boots. Now, I don't remember the last time I
(06:05):
saw a pirate where blondstone boats are trackies.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
Or a radio host, So let's start there. That's true
what's he doing? We were still there.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Bottom half of them was dressed like like a like
an aged unemployed former trading.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yes, that's exactly what it was like. Plea's now on
the benefit, recently retired. He's coming around to help you
move a few things.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
Yeah, it is dressed. So you know that video will
be out at some point.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
Jerry and midnight the hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
I'd like to bring something up please, And it's quite
a traumatic event which occurred yesterday, and so if you'd
like to come towards the microphone please, it would be good.
I'd like to bring you in on this if possible.
Speaker 6 (06:48):
Yep, I'm here.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
I was on my way to the shoot yesterday. Everyone
that we went along to we're shooting for an upcoming
promotion on radio Haddocking. I suppose I can say what
it is because it's been going for the last twenty
five years. Beer and Pied July. So we shut the
Beer and Pied July video on a beach in Auckland, beautiful,
everyone undressed as pirates and on the way to the shoot,
(07:10):
I thought I basically was running low on gas, so
I filled up and a pirate outfit that was pretty weird.
A lot of people looking at me like what's going
on with you, although a lot of people didn't, which
is interesting as well. There was a real mix of
people who gave me a really good, strong look and
then people who glanced at me once and thought it
(07:30):
was quite.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
Normal Central Auckland. Man, you can wear whatever you want.
You're not going to be the weirdest person on the
street or on the fore court.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
I reckon, you're right.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
Yeah. So I filled up and it cost one hundred
and eighty seven dollars, and then I'm exiting the petrol
station and I'm turning left. As I'm going on, I'm
going with the traffic, and there's two steering into oncoming traffics.
I wasn't staring into on, I wasn't going across it.
And there's two lanes that I'm going into. So I thought, well,
(07:59):
I go on the inside lane here, and then I
see a car coming down towards me, and this car
decides to This car's going quite quick. I'm going to say, like,
this is is probably a forty zone. Maybe I'm not
sure it's in a city Auckland. Let's see the forty
or fifty. The car is probably doing I would say, sixty,
(08:22):
and it's coming down on the outside lane, and I thought, well,
I can just quietly kindly slip myself onto the inside
lane here this It'll be fine. And so I'm indicating,
and I start to sort of head out into my thing,
and then I'm looking at them, thinking what's this car doing?
And then I see this car that's going about sixty indicate,
indicate and then cut into the inside lane at the
(08:45):
moment when I'm about to and then I jammed on
the brakes at that point, and then I let the
car go pass. And as I looked as this car
came past me, I looked and I thought, I know
that face.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
I said, that's souring at me from the beast.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
And Zoe looked at me with the look of pure death.
Like the look in her eye was anger, it was hate, malice,
everything that you.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Could if looks could kill German.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
It was like, don't you dare, don't you move like
I've done something terrible, and then she sped off into
the distance. Luckily I had the whelthor two and the experience.
I'd like to say just to wism, just and wisdom.
I'd like just to tell you ho here, I'm just
gonna hold on and let this person pass.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Not worth it, and she joins us now on the
show this morning, Good morning, Zoe, how do you what's
your side of this situation?
Speaker 7 (09:40):
There?
Speaker 6 (09:41):
It was two lanes, like Jerry said, and Jerry was
just honestly look to me like you were just ready
to jump on the lane without looking if there was
chaffe on the lane.
Speaker 4 (09:51):
So you're accusing him. You're accusing him of doing the
thing you actually did.
Speaker 6 (09:58):
No, no, no, no, none, Like he was going to
cut me off, so I had no choice to cut
him off.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Why did you need to change lanes at that particular point.
Speaker 6 (10:08):
Because there was a city of lights coming up, and
it was one of those lights where both lanes went straight,
but the right hand lane is also a right turning
lane and it was a right a red arrow. So
there's a car waiting there in the going straight lane.
Well I wasn't, there was. I just went in the
other lane because there was no one there. But then
Jerry just decided to pop out, and I had Rebecca
(10:29):
Francis seening us in the car with me, and I
remember saying to or you better stay there, buddy, you
better stay there, buddy, otherwise I will kill you. I
didn't know it was Jerry at the time. Jerry comes
up to be able to get you almost killed me.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Today I saw I witnessed that part of the FRA
car when Jerry got out of the carriage that you
almost killed me.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
And then so I guess I thought that was you.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Yeah, well, so of course German drives like an auto barn,
you know. And the way that you would write it
was was reminiscent of a former Formula One driver who
now is not doing any driving. But there was there
was something in the way that you were attacking that,
I mean, you were addicated to your credit.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
I would argue that I was just driving and you
were driving like an Alklanda.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
To be fair, I was actually going out on I
think Zoe had right away.
Speaker 6 (11:17):
Haha.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
That was the look that you I bear any man
who commits to a long term relationship with you.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Zoe, Jerry and the Night, the hoary breakfast.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Time for your latter's sport headlines thanks to Export Ultra
the beer for here the defending champion Broncos.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
I feel like we're a little bit off on the
start of that interesting that we're working on the interest things.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
We're getting better.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
That was not yesterday. Yeah, the defending champion Broncos have
crashed to a sex straight NURL defeat, humbled by South
City forty eight sex away.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Oh that's big.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Truly ran high for the rabbit O's as they saluted
their career of a gay arrow forced into retirement this
year with neuron disease.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
It was it was really like they did a big
thing for Heim. He came out and rung the bell
in front of their home crowd. It was not a
dry eye in the air in the arena. Who walked
out car in his cat. It was absolutely emotional scenes.
You're not going to beat a team that's doing that.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
Well, I don't Bronco is not going to beat anyone. Wow.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
I mean they have had they've had a shocker.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
They thought some pres for Broncos fans don't.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
I don't know mathematically how they're going on the table
and whether they can still make any noise and come
post season.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
But it's a long season and I just I really just.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
Think they don't care like a few of the Warriors,
and you won the comp I've been talking about this, Well,
my theorious days to say, if you want the comp
you wouldn't care the next year.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
I saw a video this morning when one of the
Broncos head passed the ball to someone who had their
back turned to them.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
Yes, yeah, it's just by that day. An't yeah again, No,
that's still on a bender.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
The twenty twenty six feet for World year. Whatever happened
in the celebrations from last year, they're still going. Something's happened, I reckon,
they're still going. The twenty twenty six feet for World
Cup is about to begin. Co host Mexico will begin
the tournament at the iconic as Techa Stadium in Mexico
City against South Africa. It's a repeat of the first
match of the twenty ten World Cup, with eighty one
(13:23):
thousand seats set to be full at the seven am
kick off New Zealand time. So that's in what han
twenty seven minutes?
Speaker 1 (13:30):
YEA will check that on.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
How has Trump let the first game of the World
Cup be in Mexica?
Speaker 1 (13:36):
That seems like a.
Speaker 3 (13:37):
How do you think he's been focused on other things? True?
Later today, also in Groupe, South Korea line up in
their eleventh straight World Cup against the Czech Republic, who
return after twenty year absence, and England Director of Gregor
rob Key has broken a silence yes over the Ben
Stokes saga in a series of interviews every night. Besides, captain,
along with past bowler Gus Atkinson, won't play the second
(13:59):
Test after being an involved in a gentleman's club incident
after the first Test went over the black Caps. The
investigation continues, but Key has given no assurances that Stokes
will kept in the side again.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
They didn't give any details.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Meanwhile, black Caps open to Devin Conways briefly returned home
for the birth of his second child. Conway is expected
back in London in time for the second Test. But
that's going to be tough. He's got to fly all
the way to New Zealand and then fly the way
back and then play cricket. It's a long way to fly.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
It is, it is, but just back to He broke
his silence, but didn't say anything.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
I think was the what's happened is I've written the headlines,
don't really know what interesting things there are to write about.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
God damn it.
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Basically, what he says is that a lot of the
things that were reported did happen, But he's quite clearly
saying it wasn't down to Ben Stokes and Atkinson. They
did not start the fight. That's what he said last night.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
So basically they were out and they were meant to
be home at twelve. Yeah, that's the is that the
crux of the matter. That is right? Man, wasn't there
a fight? You're out till twelve? I mean, why did
they have a bloody kof you? They've just want a
test match, should be allowed to go out and have
a celebration. It's nuts. What did they buy? Well?
Speaker 4 (15:11):
Nuts? Because every time they've done this in the past,
they've ended up in a fight in the public.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
That's fine, but they weren't winning when they did that.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
Okay, if you win, you can do whatever you should be.
I never punched it had a strip, brother, I agree
with it.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
I agree with you for goodness sake. Oh that's their problem.
Up next, we've got something to address with you, Minisa.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
I've slept and again I'm portune.
Speaker 3 (15:38):
No, this is an interesting one.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
In this one Jerry and Midnight the Darkey Breakfast, some.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Interesting information has come to my attention and I haven't
shared this with Ruder at the stage, but he may
have also noticed this too.
Speaker 5 (15:55):
Not how what are you talking about?
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Something quite major?
Speaker 1 (15:58):
You haven't noticed anything?
Speaker 3 (15:59):
Something quite someone quite major already you haven't.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
Noticed wouldn't be the first startment.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
So I was at home last night and every night
this week and enduring a television show, and I had
a text that came through to my phone and it said,
have you been invited to Manai's wedding?
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Sorry?
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Have you been invited to Menai's wedding? And I thought, oh,
probably I have. I haven't checked n box or anything
like that, and so I then went into my emails,
into my Gmail.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
There, chick, the spam folder checked.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
Well, funny you say that. Firstly I checked my normal
in box and there was nothing there, and then I
went into my spam folder because I thought oftentimes those
things do come in spam. I thought, surely, surely there'll
be an invite there, and then I thought maybe it
hasn't come through quite yet. So then I checked again
this morning and there's nothing there. Oh well, look, now
(17:04):
I assume that there's nothing in Ruder's email either.
Speaker 5 (17:07):
I'm just going through my work email, just going through
my Gmail, which mean I wouldn't have that address, but
I'm just going.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Wouldn't There's no save the date in their ruder.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
No, there's something from TU something f Zone, bowling Zoe.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Is there a save the date there with you? Do
you want to just tick of your emails?
Speaker 1 (17:25):
No?
Speaker 4 (17:25):
And that's but okay, so I can explain this. This
is because we did. Please explain, we don't want any
of you. No, it's because we didn't. We didn't send
them out in an email form. It's on a it
was a Facebook invite into a private group.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
And then check my Facebook private group.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Look at Facebook.
Speaker 4 (17:49):
Okay, Well, you don't want to make a winning event
a public public event on Facebook?
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Right right?
Speaker 5 (17:55):
Okay, I've got notifications on Facebook.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Or that.
Speaker 5 (18:02):
No, no, no, it's not.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
And my defense, I don't know who did get those.
Speaker 4 (18:06):
I haven't seen the list of From what I've heard,
the winning planning is going really well, but I haven't
been proven to any of it. Are you the group
right up until well I don't know, so right up
until yesterday, And this is something I did want to address.
And look, this is just to save the who knows
play your cards right, You're making them by close to
the day.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
And that's called leverage. Now I treat me nice.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
No, But so then and it created a you create
a Facebook event, then it's like, it creates a group chat.
So now group chats fired up with all of the
families that are in there, and then a few of
my mates, and so everyone's.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Commenting, talking shit, who's going to DJ blah blah blah
blah blah.
Speaker 4 (18:45):
Then all of a sudden, right down at the bottom,
it just says Warren Stewart has left the group, which
is my dad.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
And then the group chet.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
Died just immediately. No one missages again. There's hundreds of missions,
and all of a sudden, Warren Stewart left the chat.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
It's like, why did I think he doesn't like group chats?
Speaker 4 (19:03):
I'm not dealing with this bullshit, And so then I
had to fire another thing and then said, hey, look,
the father of the groom may object to this union.
He thinks we're rushing it a little bit. Don't worry,
the wedding's still off. Then all of a sudden, my
mom fires five thumbs up emojis into the group chats.
She just accidentally Jeff's mum's post replied some other random
(19:26):
comment in the middle of the things.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Okay, we're going to have to remove the parents out
of this. I think.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
Jerry and Mania the Hodarchy Breakfast, Jeremy.
Speaker 8 (19:35):
Wells and the Nia Stewart the Hodarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (19:39):
So a grandma in Adelaide says she spent months fearing
something was wrong inside her housing trust time. She then
learned that someone had been living in her roof. So
she's a pensionate, she lives alone, and she says that
she first heard noises late last year.
Speaker 7 (19:58):
I started hearing things the roof, but at first I
thought it was apostle. Lots of different things. Items went missing,
but I thought, no, maybe I've misplaced them.
Speaker 9 (20:08):
Then in the early hours of the morning, everything changed.
Speaker 7 (20:12):
There was his humongous bang. It sounded like somebody had
almost fallen through the roof. He started swearing when he fell.
There's been someone up there this whole time, getting up
and down in my home, when I've been a sleeve
and there was bed tins of food, cropery, cutlery, shoes
and drugs.
Speaker 9 (20:32):
Suddenly, months of strange occurrences started making sense.
Speaker 7 (20:35):
The toilet seat was up on several occasions, and there
was fresh contents in the toilet fresh.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
I mean, if your toilet seats up and you're living
at home and this fresh contents and the toilet. Although
she did have a cat, she says, you're a bitterly
contacted the housing trust. No one came to check her
cat became increasingly unsettled. That's how she knew something unsettled.
The cat was unsettled. And yeah, it looks like someone
had got through, So you went, how did they get
(21:04):
into the roof. So they got them through some loose
roof tiles and then they put them back on. Yeah,
and then they would sort of coming and out of
the roof, but then also go down through those you
know those person holes that you get.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
Yes, yeah, person, I do know the person holes. It's
I don't even seen one kind of person go through this.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
I it's the stuff of horror movies, isn't it. I
remember as a kid, someone went through the person hole
and left it just slightly ajar. When I was a kid,
I used to walk past that. It was in the hallway.
Every time I walked down the hallway, look in there.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
Like, are you in there? Are you in there right now?
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (21:37):
This is the stuff of horror movies. But you can't
kind of see why. You know, Nana's you know, she's
off living by soup.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
She thinks there's someone in her roof. There's no one
in your bloody roof, Danner. You know she thought it.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
She thought it was a bossom. Yeah, I mean they can,
rats and possums can make a bloody racket up in
the roof when they get up in there.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
Oh mate, tell you what. We had a bloody seagull
on there this summer. It was loud ass, but one
of those big mollyhawk things. You could hear it walking
across the roof.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
But it lends itself. When I heard this, I thought
to myself, what's the strangest place that you've ever loved? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:09):
I mean not in a ceiling cavity.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
And a ceiling cavity of a pensi in his house.
I've heard of people who have lived under the stairs before.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Yes, Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter lived under the stairs.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah. One of Matt Heath's mates, Spooch, he lived under
the stairs for a long time, said some of his
best work under the stairs. Actually, I heard.
Speaker 4 (22:32):
Some of those flats in Dunedin where some of the people.
There was one flat when I was down there that
had four bunk beds in the lounge and four people
lived in the lounge.
Speaker 1 (22:40):
Ah, yes, yes, that kind of place.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Yeah, so, oh, eight hundred hadach here were three four
eight three. Where is the strangest place you know? I
mean Tom Harper who used to work here at Radiohockie.
He lived in a tent, yes, in someone's back guard
en when he first came to Auckland because of the
because of the housing crisis.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
Says the housing crisis. He lived there for a few Yeah,
he was in that tent. And then another guy who
used to work here by the name of Tom Harper
lived in the office for a week to see if
he could just survive by using all of the people's
leftover lunches from the fruits and things like that.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
You a rd executive producer router here, he's lived in
the office here.
Speaker 5 (23:18):
Well, when you say lived, I've slept there for one
night on a mattress. Nothing wrong at home. I just
it was easier for me to sleep here than go home.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Yeah, at home. I'll extend this out to the strangest
places that you've woken up on.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
Oh that is that's Gelane's hiring question.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
That's the one question he asked in a job. And
to be the strangest place you've you've woken up.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Jerry and Mini the hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (23:41):
She was just talking about the grandmother and Adelaide, who
turns out she had someone living in her roof for
some time. She knew it because of this.
Speaker 7 (23:49):
The toilet seat was up on several occasions and there
was fresh contents in the toilet.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
She thought she was going a little bit mad. Actually,
she thought maybe there was a possum in the roof. Yeah,
And other people would come around. She'd complained that there
was something we're going on. But people say, I think
you're just hearing things.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Yeah, you would. You know if your grannie came in
and was like, hey, I think someone's living in my roof,
you'd be like, okay.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Grannie, all right, And she goes, oh, the cat's been
a bit disturbed, all right, Grannie, come on. So we
wanted to know on three four, eight, three or eight
hundred Huck the strangest places you've lived or woken up?
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Richard says, the strangest place I've ever lived was Palmi.
People were constantly asking me why I'd live there.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
Yep, Okay, you can see that Gareth sticks through under
cricket covers, fielded on the boundary for seventy overs that
day and then just pulled up underneath the covers and
had a kip.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Okay. So I wonder whether he woke up under the
covers and then played that day, or whether he played
and then went to sleep under the covers, if you
know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Yeah, city fielded on the boundary for seventy overs that
day and then slept under the Wow, under the covers.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Strange places you've woken up, Jerry, Strange place you can remember.
Speaker 3 (24:55):
Strangest place I can remember I've woken up. And a
lot of bushes, yeah, over the years. And but I generally,
I've got a thing, a feature which occurs in my
brain which means that I get to a certain point
no matter what. Stayed on man, Yes, and something I'm
like a homing pigeon. Something says to me go home
(25:16):
at this particular state, and I could I could always
find my way home no matter what.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
Yes, it's the homing pigeon clause.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
It's a good one to have. That one.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
You can cultivate it as well. I've developed it in
more recent times. In fact, when I found myself at
a hotel room with Paul Stuart Ford at three am,
that makes it sound like he was upparting.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
He wasn't. He was asleep. And then I managed to
get an uber to get home and then come back
into the studio at five am. Straightest place I've woken up.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
I woke up in a major once, somewhere in the
West Country in England.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
This was while we were over there sharing.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Your mother's not called Mary and your father's not called Joseph.
Bonding chance, No, but as far as I'm aware, Okay,
zero partners.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
I'll get a text about that.
Speaker 4 (25:58):
I yeah, we were hearing over there, and then we
just ended up in a town very late at night,
and there was nowhere to stay, no room at the end,
and so they said, look, you guys can sleep in
the barn if you want.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
We had a bunch of cider with us, so we
drunk ourselves into a stupor and fell asleep.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
When I woke up, I'd forgotten where I.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Was and I was just in there, surrounded by cattle
and goats.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
So what do we do last night. Here's a textas
has come in from Rebecca Francis Sandy's I lived in
a hot water cylinder cupboard for a winter, and this
has not surprised me from here, to be honest, she's
quite small, big enough for a single mattress. She doesn't
take up a lot of room, and it was warm
years I mentioned that's sexual. Probably not a terrible.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Unless it sprung a leak, yeah yeah, and which.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Played the Times, would be a terrible place to be sleeping.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
It shocks me not at all.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Anthony's text through between two naked Swedish girls with absolutely
no memory of what had happened.
Speaker 1 (26:53):
Probably my finest doubt, not that I can remember.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
There we go, the more texted I.
Speaker 1 (26:57):
Think, are along a similar vein that we may need.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
To pre read before we get to them. Yes, a
strange place. I woke up with a park bench in
the middle of my pooka. I was working up by
a homeless person. It's always good, good morning, welcome to
the show. Who are we talking to.
Speaker 10 (27:14):
Next?
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Hey, go get a nick, very good thank you. Where's
the strangest place you've worken up?
Speaker 11 (27:19):
I woke up in the middle of the White book
and Hawk's Bay on a park bench by a by
a Pokland homeless man. It was experience and art.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Well he probably thought he'd found one of his own.
What led you to that? But how did you get there?
Speaker 11 (27:42):
I used to live in White Park and we had
quite a good night, so we went down to the
local and uh stole a few gears and then sat
on the park bench and then sort of just k
nodded off. It was he's actually a photo of me
just before. So the fellows just left me, which was
good of them.
Speaker 3 (28:01):
Neck. Was it summer or winter?
Speaker 11 (28:05):
It was winter.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Actually you get those days, don't you know? You get
them days? Yeah, yeah, good stuff. Thanks very much for
the call.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
One last text here fell as I climbed into the
back of a boat in Ponsonby. It was parked on
one of the side streets off Ponsonby Road.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
You don't earn a Haines hunter, Dude, dury.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Jury and the night the Holdarcky Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (28:28):
So April eighteen was the last time the Warriors played
a game at Mount Smart. April eighteen. That's insane, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
We've gone all through May June now.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
In June, so since then, they've played in Wellington, they've
played in Brisbane, they've played Sydney three times. That back
at home tomorrow though, to take on the Sharks. The
Warriors heavy favorites at the tab a dollar thirty three
to three thirty five. Really, that's interesting after what we
know about the Warriors side that they've named. To talk
about the game for end of the show. A huge
(28:58):
fan of the Arson's day one die he would what
are you reckon about that? Die Heim? What a dollar
thirty three? The worry is massive favorites to Sharks three
thirty five.
Speaker 9 (29:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (29:07):
I always get slightly stressed when we had taught when
we come in at massive favorites, just because we've tended
in the past to fall over in those games, but
not so much in the Andrew Webster era. But the
main focus, as you mentioned, is we're back at Mount Smart.
No more might mucking around in Wellington, we're losing that,
we're doing another home game overseas down in christ Church,
(29:30):
so they're pretty lean. They're pretty lean at the moment.
And let me tell you the wi who is going
to be flowing out of my mana stick tomorrow night
when I'm out there because it has been fifty five
days since myself and the kids have trudged through the gates,
through the cinnamon and apple bait smoke of Penrose and
(29:52):
the beautiful Go Media Stadium, and it's exciting. I'm really
excited actually about this young team. I was looking at
the Warriors bench and a lot of fans who just
watched the game won't recognize these people. We've got Makaiah Tafur,
We've got Kayles Fati Alofa, Jason Salalilo, and jay La Naine,
(30:15):
who's got a lot of raps on him. They're all
the young guys on the bench. The only people people.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
We've lost time, We've lost them.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
He's been struck down Peter Valany's court wind that he
was bigging us up a little bit too much and
shut him down.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
I think there.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
Literally just disappeared.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
Yeah, I think he got Yeah, the phone line just
got zapped out of the air. I'll try and get
him back up again because I'm interested to see how
he thinks. Like you, Like you said, we've got die
back now, welcome back to die I feel like Peta
Valandy's tried to cut you off there.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
I see the Warriors a dollar thirty three.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
I feel like that's pretty short odds considering the team
that you just listed.
Speaker 12 (30:52):
Yeah. Completely, And if you look at our history, right,
we've played them forty eight times, love one twenty eight,
we've won twenty Will won a piece over the last
two games. We've both won four out of our last
five games. So it feels reasonably even. And they've got
the person I worry about on their teams, Ronaldo Mulitalo.
(31:13):
He changes, he changes the vibe. He can score a try,
he can put a head on. He's one of those
sort of grubby guys who's always, you know, up and
your face, rubbing your hair and fizzing out.
Speaker 10 (31:26):
You know.
Speaker 12 (31:27):
He's the guy who loves the who loves the try
celebration where he jumps so high he sort of puts
his secle on someone's head. He's the guy. He's all
enthusiasm and.
Speaker 1 (31:38):
He loves doing it against us for some reason.
Speaker 12 (31:41):
Yes, and there's an interesting sort of rivalry between us
and the Sharks. I mean the Sharks. I'm always impressed.
They have a lot of young Mardi boys on their side.
They've got the Puru brothers who are starting to really
make a name for themselves. Brother, Yeah, big pivot for
(32:02):
Mike Pru He's going to be running out, He's going
to be putting some shops on. I'll tell you that.
My son and I actually went to Shark Park a
couple of weeks ago to watch him play manly, and
I see why they dominated that stadium because it's the
grimmest little suburban ground and they just own it. And
(32:24):
they do struggle on the road. So I'm confident, but
we're also missing big leaders like James Fisher.
Speaker 3 (32:31):
Haris now Diima were just talking earlier on about the
Brisbane Broncos against struggling last night. What American's going on there?
Do you think they've still got a hope?
Speaker 12 (32:41):
Well, I was sort of running numbers. I had my
little sharpie out on the window like rain Man this morning,
trying to figure out how whether Broncos they I think
they need to win every game. Now, yeah, they're going
into the by but I think they pretty much to
guarantee the need to win ten from ten games, and
(33:03):
that's going to be a struggle because you saw last
night Adam Reynolds and Ezra Man were looking injured. They
just don't have the hit and plus they lose such
big players to Origin and I wonder where they're gelling
with Michael Maguire, their coach. They just don't see them
in the game.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Yeah that's interesting.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
I just I struggle to count them out because this
is what we did last year and then all of
a sudden they find themselves in the final.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
I've been saying this whole time.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Imagine if the Warriors won the chip, we wouldn't care
at all. The next year, we wouldn't care if we
lost every single game. There'd be no calls for where
we said would be like, look, we're just grateful we
won one. But I guess it's different in Brisbane because
they win them all the time.
Speaker 12 (33:41):
Yeah, completely, but it is. I mean, it's not that
often that the team that wins doesn't make the finals.
I think Brisbane and West Tigers will be the only
teams to do it if they don't. But you're right,
because like a week ago, there in exactly the same position.
But they have a hard run. They've got Penris, they've
(34:02):
got us, they've got Manly, They've got a lot of
games that are going to be tough to win. And
I that's why I think I think we need to
get really good behind the Warriors, though, because I've got
a beer in mine. We're only just over halfway through
the season. We've still got to really send this on.
Speaker 3 (34:20):
Yeah, she's a long season. Fifty five days since they
last played at home. You'll be fizzling die here went.
Thank you so much for your time this morning.
Speaker 12 (34:27):
Oh always a pleasure. You have a beautiful weekend.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Jerry and min nine the hot Ichy breakfast.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
It's time. It's academic. Are two hundred and fifty dollars
Bunnings Voutcher up for grabs? Oh eight hundred Hodochy, Oh
eight hundred four to eight seven two five? Can you
answer three questions out of five?
Speaker 4 (34:46):
It's the milksheck that's brought all the boys to the
ard and we had to been the We're to block
some of the lines because people have been calling for
the last half hour to try and jump the que
on this.
Speaker 1 (34:55):
We're not gonna let you do that.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
We go to lines now where we find Scott from Denise.
Good morning, Scott, congratulations, you're going to be playing for
two hundred and fifty dollars.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
What school will you be representing?
Speaker 10 (35:06):
I'll be representing Otago Boys.
Speaker 12 (35:08):
High School, Tago.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
Boys, famous, famous alumni, including Richie mccare.
Speaker 2 (35:14):
A great one, great one.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
Was he your era, Scott?
Speaker 10 (35:19):
No, I was in the eighties when you could still
get caned.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Did you?
Speaker 10 (35:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (35:26):
Did you?
Speaker 10 (35:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (35:28):
What did you get cane for? Scott?
Speaker 10 (35:30):
I gave the social studies teach for a gesture he
didn't like. And yeah, it was a bit of a
It was a bit of a dick.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
That'll do it. He deserved it, but still, that'll do
it one finger or two fingers. I mean, how how
eighties are we talking here?
Speaker 10 (35:47):
It was the one where you put your hand across
your opposite bicep unless your fist up.
Speaker 6 (35:53):
That one.
Speaker 3 (35:53):
Really you gave him that one of the connective defiance.
Speaker 6 (35:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (36:00):
He said he played rugby for a targe or something,
and he said, I last time someone did that to me,
there was a massive brawl on the field and no
one could stop it.
Speaker 3 (36:10):
And rah rah, okay, it's all blessed. And so I thought,
I'm going to whack a piece of cane across a
young boys ask for that.
Speaker 12 (36:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (36:19):
Six of the best sex.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
Okay, Scott six?
Speaker 3 (36:24):
I read him tough undo eating, don't they? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (36:26):
Scott two hundred and fifty dollars up for grabs if
you can get all three.
Speaker 1 (36:29):
If you can't, be another six of the best Best
of Life.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Thanks pants down, Thanks very much, Scott, here we go
Question one with ninety six point four percent, which all
black captain has the best ever winning percentage? Richie McCaw No,
it was Buck Shelford with two hundred and forty two
million people. What country in Africa has the highest population? Quickly?
(36:55):
Go quick?
Speaker 10 (36:57):
Nigeria?
Speaker 3 (36:57):
Yes? Correct? Which pop stars matter to Key? We actor
and produce a taigaway? Tit quick, Scott, out of time.
It's Riata Aura breaking the record this year. Which player
has scored the most ever NRL tries?
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Johnson?
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Yes, Johnny Briggs played Mike Balward on What TV.
Speaker 10 (37:18):
Series Coronation.
Speaker 3 (37:25):
I rushed you there, Yeah, because I was. I'll slightly
concerned for you.
Speaker 4 (37:30):
Oh, two hundred and fifty dollars worth of Bunnings vouches
coming away and we've spared you from six of the
best as well. Scott, Congratulations, make great for Friday.
Speaker 10 (37:39):
Thanks good, I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
Jerry and Mania The Darky Breakfast.
Speaker 8 (37:44):
Daily bespoke content that you won't find on the radio show,
The Darky Breakfast podcast.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
It's the f yeh something we do every Friday. We
look for the top five things you can vote on
three for a three one hundred horda chi we will
rank them out of five. Previous we've done beaches, bushes, dogs, straits,
things to put on, toast, positions, mumrs well magics. We've
(38:10):
also found the top five Murray's. I think that was
last week.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Yes, I think that was last week.
Speaker 4 (38:14):
And this week we're doing top five comebacks off the
back of the New York Next pulling off the greatest
comeback in NBA Finals history. Have you been following along
any of the NBA Finals.
Speaker 3 (38:25):
I've had a we look at it and I've seen
it on the sports news.
Speaker 4 (38:28):
Yes, So basically what's happening is it is the San
Antonio Spurs who have Victor wemban Yama, who is the
alien Feller. He's about seven and a half feet tall.
He's listed at seven foot four. He is definitely taller
than that. Oh wow, we're looking at somewhere in the
realm of seven foot six, seven foot seven, Okay, and.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
He's not gumby.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
You know, usually once you get over about six foot
fourth sort of about where you're at jeriy from you upwards.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
Gumby, gumby, Yeah, gumby, just use your height, rebound, do whatever.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Oh but if you're.
Speaker 4 (38:57):
Seven feet tall and you can walk into a gum
at the same time, you will get it NBA contract.
But this is not the case for Victor wembin Yama.
Now they the New York Knicks won the first two
games in San Antonio. The watch parties back in New
York were madness. There's riots in the street and this
is you know, early doors in the series. And while
the games are away. Now they've come back to New York,
(39:19):
it's absolute bedlam in the streets of New York. It
means so much of the city fifty something years since
they won a championship.
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (39:26):
Yeah, So there's entire generations there that don't remember it.
And last night the game was almost over. I think
they were twenty nine points clear at one point the
San Antonio Spurs, and then they just capitulated as the
biggest comeback in NBA playoff history. And so today on
the Friday Top fives, I would like Friday Top five comeback.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
So we's the finals. Serious sitting now what's the game score?
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Three to one, three one.
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Only one team's ever come back from three to one
in the NBA playoffs, and that was Lebron and them
when they beat Steph Curry in twenty sixteen.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
And if the next got a home or away the
next game, it will be back in San Antonio on.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
Saturday, Okay, which I think the Spurs will win that.
But I really win the last one. You just don't know.
Speaker 3 (40:08):
It's a great series, isn't it. I mean, and and
a great game.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Can I just say straight off the rip, we're going
to top five comebacks. The Hidaki hive minds activated. We've
got three consecutive texts about Kim Kardashian for.
Speaker 3 (40:23):
Right.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Look, I just I would like us to try and
keep this above board if we.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Oh man, the best comeback is from the.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
All give us a text three four eight three or
a call one hundred HARDUK if you want to say that.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
On the radio Jerry and Midnight the Hodarkey Breakfast, it's the.
Speaker 3 (40:45):
Today we're looking for the top five comebacks. This is
on the back of the next Yesterday, twenty nine points down,
they came back to win the game remarkably.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
Yeah, the biggest comeback in a NBA Finals game in history,
twenty nine point comebacks.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
Incredible.
Speaker 4 (41:00):
So we got on top five comebacks today and the
texts have come in thick and fast, as is not
the judge, but only to collate and put together a
top five. The Allies come back in World War Two
to win the war.
Speaker 1 (41:11):
It was famous.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
It was a great comeback under a huge amount of
precia there obviously, with the Battle of Britain and then
what was going on in Europe. The Nazis then decided
to go a little bit east. Yeah, that wasn't a
great idea.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
No, invading Russia on the winter's never worked out for anyone,
and that's that's true for thousands of years.
Speaker 3 (41:27):
No, and it turns out Hugo Boss's outfits weren't quite
warm enough.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
No, they weren't.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Noa Sarwan Grad forty one collection was no good.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
Shout out to the Americans for turning the tide on
that one. Manchester United nineteen ninety nine Champions League Final,
one nil down to the last couple of minutes, one
two to one. Bob from Manchester, Yeah, Bob from Manchester's
I mean, there isn't a day that goes by where
Bob from Manchester is not texting us on three four
three about that nineteen ninety nine great man you come back.
He's trying to shoehorn his Manchurian a gender into the
(41:56):
show and I won't stand for it, Bob, I won't
have it in there. H Bradburg, Stephen Bradburg gott to
be in the top five. The bunch of techs coming
through for Stephen Bradbury.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
So he's the Australian speed skater. H Well, that was
an interesting one because he was just cruising along, wasn't he,
And then all of a sudden everybody fell over in
front of him. Yes, just in time. I mean one
of it. It's one of the funniest things you'll ever
see that.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
You will have seen the footage. Literally everyone else wiped
out in the crash on the last.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
Corner, and he was the last.
Speaker 4 (42:22):
He was indeed last, and just happened to be the
last man standing because he was so far behind, he
missed the hullabaloo.
Speaker 3 (42:29):
You couldn't have written anything funnier.
Speaker 1 (42:31):
Yes, no, you couldn't.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
You couldn't.
Speaker 1 (42:34):
Absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
And I have seen unfair comparisons between him and Stephen
Donald were all the first fives fell over before the
World Cup.
Speaker 1 (42:40):
I don't think that's fair.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
That's not fair.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
I don't think that's fair.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
But Stephen Donald has come through on three four eighty
three as well. Great comeback from white banding down the
River to winning US the World Cup.
Speaker 3 (42:49):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
What about Brook Fraser's triumphant return schedule for summer twenty
thirty one?
Speaker 3 (42:55):
Is that right? Is she coming back for summer? What
twenty thirty one?
Speaker 1 (42:58):
White far away?
Speaker 4 (43:00):
Best comeback in history is when Carlos Oldberg got his
knee blown out, he still managed to kick Henry Brashka to.
Speaker 1 (43:06):
Win the UFC title. Yeah, I mean that it was
pretty incredible, pretty brave. Stephen Donald. Easter is a good one.
Speaker 4 (43:16):
Easter, one of the great comeback, great resurrection from Jesus. Yeah, good,
good showing from Jesus that one and then this one
here alongside Jimmy Spittle.
Speaker 3 (43:25):
Ah, well, goodness made that that America's Cup comeback twenty thirteen. Yeah,
because at one stage he was Oracle Team USA. Jimmy Spittle,
wasn't he.
Speaker 1 (43:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (43:35):
And I'm pretty sure at one stage they were negative two.
So the reason that that's considered the greatest ever sporting
comeback in any form, was because other teams have come
back from say twenty nine points down, like like what
happened yesterday in New York. But this was they were
penalized two races and so they were actually on negative
(43:59):
two and then New Zealand blew out to I think
an eight to one lead and the best first to
nine was what it was in San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Unassailable first to nine, you would think.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
And then they made a few modifications and next thing
you know, Oracle team you say, started winning, winning, winning, winning.
It came back to nine eight, they won bloody seven
in a row, ridiculous, and then they won that last
one as well.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Absolutely ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (44:25):
I mean, could you imagine being part of those celebrations.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
I just can't. I just can't.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
You were thinking seriously that we've lost this and you
were going, oh my god, all hope is gone. And
then to come back and win and it's the America's
Cup as well means a lie.
Speaker 1 (44:42):
No, it was absolutely incredibles.
Speaker 4 (44:43):
Kept texts coming through on three, four, three or eight
hundred hadarchy like this one here After a week off,
a taskmaster Jerry's heirline came back Yplush in about a
week's time.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
Your own research into that will unveil the.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
Top five jury in the ninth Thearchy Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
It's the.
Speaker 3 (45:04):
Oasis. About a great comeback, haven't they?
Speaker 1 (45:05):
They had come?
Speaker 5 (45:07):
They sure did shows all around the world and apparently
apparently may announce some more for next year.
Speaker 4 (45:13):
Really, I heard stories of people flying internationally and not
booking accommodation.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
Just to go and see them.
Speaker 5 (45:19):
Nah, that would be that would be.
Speaker 4 (45:21):
Sounds that sounds like a thinly veiled cheating excursion, doesn't it.
Speaker 3 (45:25):
No, it doesn't. It sounds like, Yeah, people who work
in radio going across with their child's mattresses, sleeping bag,
sleeping in airports? Would you do it again? Runa? If
you were if Oasis where the play in Australia, would
you do that again?
Speaker 5 (45:40):
Probably not?
Speaker 3 (45:41):
But how would you do it differently?
Speaker 1 (45:43):
I would hope.
Speaker 5 (45:44):
They'd come to New Zealand and they don't have to
do that sort of thing.
Speaker 3 (45:46):
And if they didn't, then I.
Speaker 5 (45:48):
Would go one and done. I think, oh, really, I
don't think I could top it. It was such it
was such a good time the first time. I don't
think I could top it, especially not for eighteen hundred
bucks for two All.
Speaker 4 (45:58):
Right, if you just joined us, we're broad in another
top five today, off the back of the New York
Knicks pulling off the biggest comeback in a single NBA
Finals game. We're doing top five comebacks and a couple
of honorable mentions before we get to the final.
Speaker 3 (46:11):
I like this one from being no shade my big
brown brother from another mother. But ten kg's from a
naives made a hell of a comeback.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
Get on your ben.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
When she had came back from Pasifier.
Speaker 4 (46:26):
Yes, yeah, I didn't mind that one. I mean, if
they were trying to break into America, weren't they? Yeah,
in the wake of nine to eleven.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
It was a weird time.
Speaker 5 (46:33):
What are they called the Taliban? We say, then, they've
done pretty well.
Speaker 4 (46:38):
They have done well, except all right, then we've collated
your votes, and again ours is not to judge.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
Ours is only to tabulate and count.
Speaker 4 (46:47):
Your votes as they are on the text machine there
without any further ado. Number five Kim Kardashian and I
refuse to elbrate on that.
Speaker 3 (46:54):
I don't know about this. Have I been living under
a rock? Excuse me? I know nothing about.
Speaker 1 (46:58):
This, and you won't learn anything about it from me
this morning on.
Speaker 3 (47:01):
The radio because we have not We're.
Speaker 4 (47:03):
Cleaning the show up, all right, So you're not going
to share a couple of videos after this. Good Number four,
the Allies come back and World War two to win
the war.
Speaker 3 (47:11):
Well, I mean if they didn't, we wouldn't be here. No,
would be in a very different situation.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
Oh we bloody speaker German, wouldn't we have?
Speaker 3 (47:19):
We're being a very different although we're probably speaking another language.
After that.
Speaker 4 (47:22):
Number three, Stephen Donald and his World Cup winning kirk
has to be one of the best comebacks of any
New Zealand.
Speaker 3 (47:28):
Yeah, and it was done with a very very short jersey.
Let's not forget that.
Speaker 4 (47:31):
And I actually think that because lost to the annals
of history is the fact that he kicked that with
another half hour left of that game to play. And
I think that the most heroic thing he did was
then defend for half an hour despite being a fraction
out of neck.
Speaker 1 (47:46):
So that's why a fraction out of neck.
Speaker 4 (47:48):
Marginally out of neck, so and I think that's the
most heroic.
Speaker 3 (47:51):
Thing he did.
Speaker 6 (47:52):
Number two.
Speaker 4 (47:53):
My friend Glenn Cresty, after a Fast started as Stag
THEO managed a pub catch power nap and we dip
in the Man's Mall fountain to stage the greatest comeback ever.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
I personally witness.
Speaker 5 (48:02):
Does that number one?
Speaker 7 (48:03):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (48:03):
Glenn Christie would take something to knock that off the
number one perch.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Wouldn't it?
Speaker 9 (48:08):
Number one?
Speaker 4 (48:09):
Greatest comeback Jimmy Spider and San Fran coming back from
eight to one down to.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
Win the America's Cup against US. There it is.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
Those are your top five comebacks?
Speaker 2 (48:19):
Jerry and Mid The Hdiarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 8 (48:23):
Jerry and and I joined the Complay the Hdarky Breakfast
discussion group on Facebook for more, it's just a.
Speaker 3 (48:29):
Text in here on three for eight three man. I
for you specifically, I think from Barry the black head
band dude who just scored a goal, almost died a
couple of years back from a head clash. The headband
has a cushion over the scar area behind his ear.
Thanks very much.
Speaker 1 (48:44):
Yes, so you know, not a fashion statement.
Speaker 3 (48:46):
Don't make comment on whether or not he's wearing a
head band, whether he should or not, obviously, just so
you know he's he's a victim.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
I stay in your lane.
Speaker 3 (48:55):
Yeap much you should have known that. Thinking as a
sports commentator of note, you should have known that.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
Well, greatest sports podcast from the country exactly allegedly, Only
I don't know that. That's only that's what the New
Zealand Radio Podcast awards Rick and I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
I've got the certificate in my hand right here, twenty
twenty six one of best sports podcast, The Agenda Podcast,
Mike Lane, Yes, Joseph Jury, Fincaddy Menaia, Stuart's on me
and mcconey's on the heats on me.
Speaker 4 (49:24):
I will say, like often in the in the sports
media landscape, people will say, well, you never played you know,
so what do you actually know about anything? And to
that I would say, you don't have to have been
a horse to be a good jockey, all right, So
go hidden mat so go a hidd and marinatea go
ahead and retweet that if you will. But I was
a gifted athlete of note, and yesterday beneath it to
(49:47):
rekindle that athleticism, I went over to the gym. I cramped,
and the strangest place that I think I've ever cramped
my hip flixer cramped yesterday while seated doing shoulder press.
Speaker 1 (49:59):
Now it did. This is old man, old injuries.
Speaker 3 (50:04):
Welcome to age.
Speaker 4 (50:06):
I sat down on this seat, try to push a
couple of weights above my head, and then all of
a sudden, my hip cramp. Now, in that situation, I
now have forty eight kilos above my.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Head two twenty fours. Don't worry, you'll get there.
Speaker 4 (50:18):
And now my hip's cramping, so I can't and so
I'm trying to because when you start cramping, you can't
think of anything else other than stretch that cramp out
right now, but I'm in a seated possession with my
hip flecks are cramping, so forty eight kilos above my
head and then I had to like slouch to try
and stretch the cramp out of my hip. I saw
this personal train to turn around and look at me, like,
(50:39):
what the hell's he doing? Grab the weight?
Speaker 3 (50:42):
You didn't, Mark Richardson, it did?
Speaker 1 (50:43):
You basically drop the weights and then had to stretch.
Speaker 4 (50:49):
It must have looked ridiculous because you see someone lifting
something above their head, you're thinking shoulder, He's done his
shoulder or something like that.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
No.
Speaker 4 (50:56):
No, now I'm down there on the ground trying to
stretch my hip flex out.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
Only that is basically hump the floor.
Speaker 4 (51:02):
So all they've seen is me lifts some weight yelp
and then start humping the.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
Why is Michael Hancock down on the ground humping the ground?
I remember the first time I ever cramped at night
in the calf stretch out and at nights sometimes you
stretch out and you're half asleep whatever. And I remember
the first time that ever happened. And I would have
been about ten or eleven maybe, And man, was that
(51:29):
a strange experience. I had no idea what it was.
Nobody ever told me anything about cramp. And I mean,
where would you learn about cramp? And and I didn't
know that you just sort of you push your leg
out like the way to you know, particularly in the calf,
when you put point your toe towards your knee.
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Only through it.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (51:49):
Yeah, my partner's prone to her calves are prone to cramping,
and they'll cramp in her sleep. Ye, So in the
middle of the night she will just explode out of
the bed And I'm like, what, what am I gonna
have to fight off a burglar?
Speaker 1 (52:03):
Is there someone living in an attic? I don't know
what's going on.
Speaker 3 (52:05):
Possibly just check the toilet, seat and see if there's
any fresh contents.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
Jerry and Leni the hold Ikey Breakfast Sports checks.
Speaker 4 (52:13):
Acc Head g Lane brought you by Export Ultra the
bell for him from the studio.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
Acc Head Geelane. You must be visiting this weekend the
Super Rugby semis Yep Chiefs, Crusaders Hurricanes booze.
Speaker 13 (52:28):
Yeah, tonight, my beloved Chiefs MANA take on the dastily
Crusaders tonight at FML Stadium.
Speaker 14 (52:36):
Not good stats coming out for the Chiefs.
Speaker 13 (52:38):
They've got Angers Gardner reffing this game, and the Crusaders
have won the last four playoff matches with Angus. Gardner
doesn't like the Chiefs. He's got no mone.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
Misleading, miss leading, misleading, statistic lane because they've won all
of their last playoff games under every reference. So you
could say that about any referee if you wanted to.
Speaker 3 (52:57):
That's interesting you say that you know the chief but
you've got the Chiefs at a dollar fifty two and the
Crusaders at two forty five. I guess that's a home
field advantage that they're talking about there. Yeah, but you're right, Crusaders.
You'd never want to write the Crusaders off.
Speaker 13 (53:10):
Yeah, I know it's it's annoying man. As a Chiefs fan,
they are in a faun in our site. When it
comes to Super Rugby titles, yeah, I reckon. This is
the Chiefs final. If they tip up the Crusaders, they
will take out Super Rugby because the Canes.
Speaker 14 (53:25):
I don't know about the Hurricanes. I don't know. I
don't know if they can hold on. I don't know
if they can be consistent when the you know, when
it comes.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
To the crunch, when the whips are cracking. Yeah, when
it comes to the crush, when the lights get bright.
Speaker 13 (53:36):
Wait, hold on, Well, they played on an empty stadium
for the start A sick the Hurricanes.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
What are you talking about? The Hurricanes playing the Chiefs
of the Crusaders. They have not got past the Blues.
They have not Just what excuse me one time? Thank
you very much. You wake the sleeping giant. Sleeping giant
is about to awake.
Speaker 14 (53:56):
Okay, at what time will it awake?
Speaker 3 (53:58):
Yeah? Sunday, No Saturday?
Speaker 1 (54:02):
Is it going to wake this year? Is I a
sleeping giant in the room with us right now?
Speaker 3 (54:06):
Jerry?
Speaker 13 (54:08):
Looking at that game Hurricanes Blues which is tomorrow night.
I've never se this this is unheard of the tab.
Speaker 14 (54:15):
A semi final. So one sided.
Speaker 13 (54:16):
Yeah, Hurricanes at are a dollar ten, almost unbeckable at
a dollar ten, and the Blues at six dollars.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
Fifty hot on, Yeah there is that. That's just six
fifty because I've got seven to.
Speaker 14 (54:27):
Fifty blowing out already.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
Put your money where your mouth is.
Speaker 14 (54:32):
Blowing out already.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
You know it's seven dollars fifty. Yeah, it's a funny
old game. You just never know. Blues get a bit.
Speaker 13 (54:39):
Of a roll on, yeah, yeah, look, I'll give it
to you if it's tight at half time or just
after halftime, I think, But if they I mean, I
saw last week against the sixty.
Speaker 1 (54:48):
Points man, it's going to be a sixty point drubbing.
Write that down, I clip that.
Speaker 13 (54:52):
Tonight tonight we will be commentating the Chiefs Crusaders game
live here on Radio Hoodache and I had James mcay.
Speaker 14 (55:00):
He is on the commentary.
Speaker 13 (55:01):
If you want to hear a guy like his heartbreak
live on here. If the Chiefs win, if the Chiefs lose, sorry,
you will be able to hear at the moment it breaks.
He wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes
to the Chiefs. We haven't told him just yet, but
halfway through the game, we're going to fill the studio
with Crusaders fans.
Speaker 14 (55:20):
And he will lose his mind.
Speaker 13 (55:24):
He's very, very twitchy when it comes to just even
being around Crusaders fans.
Speaker 4 (55:28):
If it's a foregone conclusion in the last ten minutes,
what are the odds on him just walking out of
the studio very high.
Speaker 13 (55:34):
He will use the excuse of making a cup of tea, yes,
and he will never return.
Speaker 1 (55:38):
And then he won't come back. I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 13 (55:40):
Game, yeah, yeah, So obviously we're in the crunch time
there in the semi finals. I mean, look, it's still
a possibility that the Crusaders could host the final if
the Blues tip up the Canes and then they beat
the Chiefs and then they have a final on next
Saturday at Takaha and then the next day the Warriors
we'll be playing at.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
Christ Christ is really charge and hit of the Monk.
Speaker 13 (56:03):
Yeah, and we're going to be there min if for
that game. We've got a pregame at the Richmond Club
at midday and down in christ Yet you can join us.
Speaker 3 (56:09):
Here first Sunday session the woves. Have've got Canla Sharks
this weekend. And then I'm just saying at the World Cup,
Iran playing New Zealand.
Speaker 1 (56:19):
Yes, a couple of headwinds for that country, aren't there.
Speaker 3 (56:21):
Yeah, So the TB I've got to run at a
dollar already five in New Zealand at four point fifty
in the drawer at three forty, So four fifty New Zealand.
Speaker 1 (56:29):
If we were going to win one, absolutely one.
Speaker 14 (56:32):
And you'd like to think that the Americans would get
behind us.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
They are that way, you can fill out, fill out
so far.
Speaker 13 (56:39):
Stadium, because we're playing a country in which you're at
war at is it's not the game you want to
come and support the lowly little nation of New Zealand
a little down the bottom of the South Pacific. There
we've got Tim Page, the world's most famous football player.
Get like if that is not one hundred thousand Americans
singing the American national anthem over and over again at
(56:59):
the Iranians.
Speaker 3 (57:00):
For us, we just have a small problem, and that
is football is a game of skill, and it's not
like you can fire up. It's not like rugby and
you can just go up there and completely fire up
take a whole lot oft methm fit I mean, and
then just run over the top of another team like
has happened in rugby in the past.
Speaker 14 (57:18):
Well why not, why don't we bring that to the
Football World.
Speaker 4 (57:20):
Cut I think South Africa's trying it right now. That
down to nil and they got two red cards.
Speaker 3 (57:28):
That's the job of football will have to play.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
It's the rug.
Speaker 14 (57:32):
They're down to nine minutes.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
Look, I mean, it would be amazing for New Zealand
to have a victory at the at the Football World
come it would be amazing.
Speaker 13 (57:41):
Yeah, they haven't had one, you know, that would be good.
The drawer we've we've done the draws. We did that
in South Africa, heaps of them. But it is one
team because look at Egypt, they're very strong and then
you look at and.
Speaker 1 (57:52):
You're like, that's there's no chance.
Speaker 14 (57:54):
That's that's that's going to be a tough assignment per Iran.
Speaker 1 (57:57):
It has to be.
Speaker 14 (57:57):
We have to target Iran.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
We must take Iran out.
Speaker 14 (58:02):
We must target with them.
Speaker 1 (58:03):
We have to topple.
Speaker 14 (58:05):
We need to blockade the goal. We need to lay
the blockade.
Speaker 13 (58:09):
There needs to be an embargo and the trade and
bargo language of this language.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
Red card for Mexico now with tie up on the cord,
and I think I think they pointed to the spot
as well.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
I take him out. Ah, all right, thanks for your time.
A shad to Lane, absolute pleasure. Look forward to talking
to you on Monday when the Blues come back.
Speaker 2 (58:32):
Jerry and Mini the Hodkey breakfast.
Speaker 3 (58:35):
Their grandma and Adelaide, who spent months thinking that something
was slightly wrong inside of her house, only to learn
that someone was living inside of her roof. So she
lives alone. She's a pensioner and she first heard noises
late last year.
Speaker 7 (58:53):
I started hearing things in the roof, but at first
I thought it was apostle. Lots of different things. Items
went mess but I thought, no, maybe I've misplaced them.
Speaker 9 (59:03):
Then in the early hours of the morning, everything changed.
Speaker 7 (59:06):
Then was his humongous bang. It sounded like somebody had
almost fallen through the roof. He started swearing when he fell,
there's been someone up there this whole time, getting up
and down in my home when I've been a slave,
and there was bed tins of food, cropery, cutlery, shoes
and drugs.
Speaker 9 (59:26):
Suddenly, months of strange occurrences started making sense.
Speaker 7 (59:30):
The toilet seat was up on several occasions, and there
was fresh contents in the toilet.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
Fresh contents and the toilet's never a good sign.
Speaker 1 (59:38):
At least it's fresh. Wow, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (59:42):
I think the funny part about this is you can
see exactly what's happened here. She was already starting to
doubt herself. She's like, I think this someone loving. I
don't know, you know, I'm not going to bother anyone
with this. Also, if she hadn't mentioned it to anyone,
they would have just gone, oh, granny, come on.
Speaker 6 (59:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (59:58):
Full credit to her, because she's the type person takes
responsibly for her own action. Yes, she did, and so
she's singing, that's probably me Me. I feel like I'm
a bit like that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Hands up. I could have done something about this, and
I just I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:00:09):
Yeah, something goes wrong. I generally think that's probably my
fault that.
Speaker 1 (01:00:12):
I just wish that there was some sort of footage
of when the guy fell through the ceiling into the.
Speaker 3 (01:00:17):
House, so it tuns audly just loosened off a tile,
and then he climbed in the roof and then replaced
the top. Obviously, Adelaide reasonably dry climate. Yeah, because I
think if you had a loose tile in your roof,
you have some leaking issues in New Zealand real quick.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
And how big is the tile that this guy can
get through there? It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (01:00:35):
Yeah. So we were talking this morning about places, weird
places that you've lived off at the back of that
and weird places that you've woken up, and someone texted
and said that they lived in the agency cupboard for
a month. They rolled out of bed to become a
receptionist to pay for the cupboard accommodation. Apparently bloody useless
at being a receptionist, so they ended up getting fired
(01:00:56):
and they went back to the cupboard. They lived in
there for a month.
Speaker 4 (01:01:00):
That is an unusual story, depends what kind of agency,
because there are promo cupboards in this building that you
could live in for a minute. You could live in

Multiple Tennis Who's coming up next? Her show is starting
from ten am. She lived in a hot water cupboard
and paid twelve dollars rent a week.

Live there anymore.

Speaker 4 (01:01:50):

under damp beach tails next to the sewage ponds at
