Speaker 1 (00:00):
Jeremy Wells and Mania Stewart. Find them on Instagram at

Speaker 2 (00:05):
So the Warriors are virtually guaranteed to finish in the
top two on the NRL table. It'll be between them
and the Panthers for the minor premiership. Also means that
they'll play two playoff games in Auckland. Will they be
at Eden Park? Will they be at Mount Smart? They'll
be at Mount Smart. On Saturday at 5pm, it's their
last round-robin game against the Sea Eagles. Are they paying $ 1.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
30?

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Seagulls are paying $ 3. 50. Joining us now, friend of the show,
friend of the world, friend of the nation, Dai Henwood.
Welcome to the show. Top four are locked in, Dai.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
Oh, top two is locked in. We can't be knocked
out of that. And as you said, if we win,
we get two home semis. So we've just got to
keep winning from here. I don't know what you said
about Mount Smart. The NRL is really keen on to
play at Eden Park, but the NRL gets the gate revenue,

(01:02):
so they're just keen on the biggest stadium possible.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Okay. But don't they talk about this every year, all
this argument, and then in the end, I suppose scheduling
comes into it too. Is Eden Park even available?

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah, exactly, because you might have a little Bobby Dazzler
between Auckland and Tasman happening at four o'clock in the afternoon,
you know? So you can't take that off the card.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
It would be pretty low manner of Mount Smart to
book something in the NRL playoff window, wouldn't it?

Speaker 3 (01:32):
Yeah. But I think we will play at Mount Smart.
There is a slight argument, though, that because the Warriors,
if we do get the second final, that will probably
definitely be at Eden Park. And because we haven't played
at Eden Park since 2016, there is an argument that
the boys might want to get used to the ground.

(01:53):
running out and all that carry-on. But the mana flows
at Mount Smart. And before we focus on finals, we've
got an interesting game against the Sea Eagles. In our
last eight games, we've both won four. They squeaked over
us at Four Pines Park by one point last year.
We're only resting Wade Egan, and we've got some young

(02:16):
guys starting, like Eddie Inamia-Toiaba. So it's going to be
a pretty exciting game.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
What about Chance being named at fullback and Tane Tuopiki
being on the bench? I think a lot of people
might have expected Tane Tuopiki, particularly the way he's been playing,
kicking lately, to start at fullback and put Chance back
on the wing. Do you think that this is Tane
getting hooked for letting a couple of tries in last week?
Or do you think this is an audition for the
playoff fullback spot?

Speaker 3 (02:44):
It interested me a lot because his goal-kicking over the
last few weeks has been absolutely sublime. I thought he
might slide to the wing, but Pompey has gone there.
And to people who don't know, Pompey's been told he
can have a look at Super League and so forth.
He's had a few bad games this year, but he's
been an absolute great clubman. I think Chance is probably

(03:08):
the better full-back going into finals just regarding his tackling.
He defensively calls the numbers very good. I reckon he
might have stopped Maju, the wrecking ball, last week. And Tain,
I think, has got the pace and the skill to
play the wing. So I wouldn't be sad seeing it there. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Are you confident, Dai, can we look forward? Can we
look like miles ahead? Can we look to October 4th, 5th?
sixth sort of vibe are you prepared to look that
far ahead or are you one of these people that
doesn't like going down those sorts of roads.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Well i haven't looked that far but i have booked
an apartment next to the stadium and have tickets so
so i might have thought vaguely about it i'm definitely
gonna be there uh and i mean i me and
the fan i make a bit of a pilgrimage to
the ground every year for the grand final, and it
looks like the Waz could be in it. And, like,

(04:09):
I want us to smash Manly. I want us to
be like a wheelie bin down Baldwin Street. Like, we're
unstoppable going into the finals, you know? And because it
is a bit of a worry if you drop a game,
you know, and just get a bit out of form,
because we haven't done mass resting, so you can't sort
of blame it on that. And this Manly side have

(04:31):
found form. They've got some, the Travojevic's are playing well.
I've got this Clayton Farlalo, who's at six, who's just
lighting the world on fire. So it's going to be
a great test. But I think on Saturday at 5pm,
the Warriors are going to win it and we're going
to go and staunch to the finals. Minor premiers.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
Do you think, does the minor premiership mean much to you?

Speaker 3 (04:56):
I think it means a lot to the club. Like,
it is a lot of respect. I think the owner
gets 100 grand and he's poured a lot of money
into this club. But, you know, our outing against Manly
doesn't decide it because the Penrith play the Tigers in
the last game of the round and their points differential

(05:19):
will dictate whether we finish one or two.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Well, no matter what happens, it's been a great season
so far. Looking forward to the game over the weekend.
Di Henwood, thank you so much for your time. Always
a pleasure.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Always a pleasure. Have a beautiful weekend and enjoy your
rugby league.
