Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Hurdarchey Breakfast. Get set for winter with Bunning's trade.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Here we go the hodache Breakfast with Manaia Stewart and
former hod Achey hidden ow acc head.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
Glane.
Speaker 1 (00:12):
Oh, good morning, g Lane. Welcome into the studio.
Speaker 4 (00:14):
Mane morning morning, great to be here.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
I congratulations. Look, I've been here for eighteen months waiting
for a new interesting thing. We haven't had one. You're
in here for one day and you get your own
bloody image.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Shit.
Speaker 4 (00:25):
I don't want to think of that.
Speaker 1 (00:26):
I don't want to think how the energy levels this morning.
Did you manage to stay up for Origin last night?
Speaker 4 (00:30):
Yeah, it's the same. It's the tail as long as
time really, because you stay up. You see at nine
point thirty start you go. Yeah, I could do that.
I could do the first half think gas Guld talks
for about twenty five minutes. He is analysis some Fireworks,
is a pre show about Tim passed Tim. They kick
off and about half teen I'm asleep.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Yeah, yeah, that was exactly me as well. On the couch.
One eye opened, Old manning it on the corner of
the couch and I was like, you know what, I'm
just going to go to bed. And I'll put it
on my phone, prop it up next to the bed,
and then I'll just watch the rest of the game
that way.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
Do you do You screen in bid quite a lot?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
No, I never do, Okay, that's why. And that's why
because I was asleep basically straight away. But I woke
up at one in the morning and watched the compressed
highlights of the game because I needed to know whether
my bits had come in. It'll shock no one to
find out that they hadn't.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
So hell of a game though, yes, hell of a
game to a comeback of the century.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Yes it was. We'll talk about it up next. Plus,
I see this has been on some illegal stag hunting
going on down in South and it's not for the
first time either. I've got a yarn about of time
someone won the pis quick bigas Wallaby. You've ever seen
in your life.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Jeremy Wells and the Nie Stuart, the Hurdarchy breakfast.
Speaker 6 (01:41):
This is it now.
Speaker 7 (01:43):
You can't imagine they're going to get too many more chances.
Harry keeps high coming to it. There's pressure, James.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
N That's how it ended twenty two to twenty New
South in your mouth. They won the first State of
Origin game last night, right on the Herder too, James
Tedisco just came screaming through and latched onto that in
the pissing right now, want to come back?
Speaker 4 (02:13):
Twenty points to six. Queensland were up at halftime and
looked like it was going to be an absolute pants
down threshing at home for New South Wales. But Calen
Ponger came in with the flying head butt. It got
sent off and in the sixty odd minutes, so they
had twenty odd minutes down to twelve men. In a
league field, you start to see some gaps.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
He's up down and he's must.
Speaker 8 (02:35):
Ball in the tackle.
Speaker 7 (02:36):
He's there a hive.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
There's some impact about the shover.
Speaker 8 (02:40):
Just watched this, Oh.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Oh he did hear me with a heavy contact. Well,
it's a head clash, but that's a send off.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
Charles.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
I start going and said that head clash, it's not
a HiT's a snow Why interesting Calen, it's the shoulder
charge and makes the wreck contact of the head. I
love that it's a head clash. It was a head clash,
but it was also a shoulder to the head. It
was a head and shoulder to the head.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah, and he goes, look at my ear. It's bleeding us.
It's bleeding because you shoulder charge the guy in the head.
The point of his head hit your ear because your
brain is falling out of your ear because his neck
snap and then against the side of your head.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Can I just say, like what I mean? I know
that they have to squeeze State of Origin in between
weekends and between rounds of nrl H. Can you just
have a buy around and play it on a Saturday
for Christ's sake? Because Wednesday is just a real I mean,
this is personally just for me. It's a real struggle
for me on a Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
As a man of a certain age, There's just no
chance that I'm staying up that late.
Speaker 4 (03:40):
And when State of Origin comes to Auckland to Eden
Park next year, the amount of preloading is going to
be dangerous because the kickoff time is going to be
the same.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
So that is on a Wednesday, Wednesday, what do you do?
You're gonna go home and Auckland traffic and then come
back in Absolutely not. You're going to go to a
bar in Kingsland and you're gonna be rad ass by
the time kickoff shows up.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
If that's such a long runway. Then I'm looking I'm
looking forward to getting on that runway. Yeah, with forty
five thousand other people and taken off.
Speaker 9 (04:07):
Can you imagine how many people are going to put
in leave for the Thursday after State of Origin next
year that's played in.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
It's going to be ridiclu I think it needs to
be a national holiday.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Yeah, although I've always said, do your hangovers on the
clock because we're possible, because like, never take a sick
day because you're hungover, get paid to be hungover. Yeah,
that's a good point, you know what I mean. Do
it on the clock, because if you've got a physical job,
you'll sweet it out by like smoke o.
Speaker 4 (04:32):
Yeah, that's like number two is always doing number twos
on the job.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
Always do number twos on the job.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
And if you have a office job, you just keep
your head down and have a couple of extra coffees.
Don't This is a tip for people in offices. Don't
let people know that you hungover.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Yeah you can.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Chances are you'll get away with it.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
Yeah, you don't want to walk in. We used to
work with a colleague who used to come in and
go oh from Australia. No coincidence and just go oh,
I'm so hung over, right you like righto mate?
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (04:56):
Or you also SA say something else disgusting though we're
going to repeat it.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
When So when I here that someone's hung over in
the office, I'm like, all right, well I'm missing with
this dude. There was one day and here where somebody
had brought their kids and they had two kids about
six and seven, five or six something like that. It
wasn't you, but another member of staff. He was definitely hungover,
just sitting in the office and I found a kazoo
(05:19):
and two cans of v and I was like, take
these kids in dynamite, gun boff these And then just
that dude over there is him on the couch. He
loves the kazoo, gun blast us in his ear.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
He weaponized them.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
Yeah, I did twenty two twenty. I gotta be honest.
Even though TB had New South Wales as favorites, I
really thought Maroons were going to win that one last night.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Wow you would it? Half time twenty points to sex.
They are absolutely all over them like a rat.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Yeah, bit of a joke. Job one man, I know
that did manage to stay awake for the entire thing
is Die Henwood. He was going to be joining us later.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
On Jerry and Mni, The hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
And Iron Lane and with you for today and tomorrow Borrow.
We're talking about your origin strategies, how you watch it,
and you had a good point during the song there
about is it an age thing, like at what age
do you just start wreaking a past the next day
you've been on it.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
My question is because there's going to be a few
people who would have you know, you can't watch a
game of Loukeluke, especially State of Origin without having a
couple of tens.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Yeah, particularly if you're like one of those rabid Maroons
blues fan.
Speaker 4 (06:25):
Yeah. I mean you probably never set foot in either state,
but you're still just an excuse. I'm wondering whether it
was a mental or a physical state, because as you
get older, because there weren't my younger and younger days,
you know, a midwek or three in the morning wouldn't
be a massive surprise, but you'd turn up at work
at seven, you'd carry on your workday and you probably
wouldn't tell anyone, and you'd think you got away with it. Yes,
(06:47):
And I'm unsure whether that was a confidence thing of youth,
because in my older days, if I do that, I'm
very conscious that I think like a bum next morning
of cigarettes, booze and everything else that's coming out.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
In my paws now.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
And it experience if you've been drinking with me, Yeah,
and it experiences is coming across a few uncles at
Christmas time and around holiday times. GI, you got to
sit in a roma about them. You mean, yeah, you
had a big night last night, whereas the youngsters just
bound in and you're like, they could have been up
till five in the morning, might be excited, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Must be happy to be here. Maybe he's got headstroke. Yeah,
that's such a good point. I don't know. Is it
an age thing or like we were saying off here before,
or is it because you're around a family perhaps, you
know what I mean, Because in your youth, when you're
in your twenties, pulling all nighters and showing up to
work the next day, you're not around kids, you know,
and certainly not around your own kids. So I think
(07:40):
that's where what elevates it. Because for me, if I'm
hungover and my messages as at work, I will not
see another human being for the whole day, so I
may well reek of purse. I would not know, because
no one's gonna say anything to me.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
What I what I enjoy is the fact that three
your twenties you go pretty hard, and your late teens
you can go pretty hard. You can go out all
night and you can wake up, you can operate on
two three hours sleep. That that function is supposed to
be for raising kids, I know. And then you get
into your thirties, you can party or by arch I
did party woll Way three. Your twenties and the early thirties,
you settle down, you have some kids, all of a
(08:12):
sudden you're dangerously tired, and it's like, how come I
could just party until four in the morning, get up
at six, go to work. Oh okay, evolution says I'm
supposed to have kids then not in my thirties and forties,
where I'm at, my ass is absolutely hanging out at
every last moment.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
And I've used it. I've used my entire twenties just
the person half. I feel it right now, because once
you hit thirty, I feel like the graph starts going
exponential in terms of hangovers, I'm two day minimum now,
and if I have a big Saturday because of how
early I get up, it's Thursday until I can see
colors again. It's just it's brutal.
Speaker 4 (08:47):
I don't regret it, I said, I don't regret doing that,
but sometimes I think, God, damn it, I may wasted
all of mainage.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
So what's the age then, what's the age you start
smelling the purses at forty?
Speaker 4 (09:00):
No, I think it's your mid thirties. I think it's
your mid thirty so it's not your forties.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Is this an intervention?
Speaker 4 (09:06):
And I think, and I think once you get your
fifties and sixties, you smell like it all the time.
Speaker 9 (09:12):
I think the other thing as well as maybe when
you're drinking a lot and you're late teens, early twenties,
maybe you're having a party at your house and then
the next day the.
Speaker 1 (09:20):
House wreaks of it.
Speaker 9 (09:22):
But when you're older and you've got a family, then
you're just the one that reaps and you're in a
nice smelling house and all of a sudden you're like, oh,
that's a good point.
Speaker 10 (09:30):
I'm the stink here.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
Yeah, okay, free kiss.
Speaker 10 (09:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:36):
It's the juxtaposition I think it's I think it's that
the steaks get raised when you're around like a family
and kids. We are not supposed to when you wake
up in the morning and you're at your flat like
sweet sweet as man, we all smell it. But the
flat smells like when you wake up and it's your
kids shacking your wake But dude, you're in my bed again.
That's close to the bone.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Jerry Manaya the hoodacky breakfast on.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
The Hidaker Breakfast time for the latter sports headlines. Thanks
the export old for the BFA. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
The Blues have sparked the biggest comeback when in State
of Origin League history to beat the Maroons twenty to
twenty in Sydney. A seven ninth minute James Tedesco try
from a bomb seal the result Queens lay and fallback.
Kaylin Pong was sent from the field for a shoulder
charge on New South Wales winger with twenty three minutes left,
a shoulder and head charge to the head. The Visitors
(10:29):
initially shot out to a twenty nil lead.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I still am not sure how it works with so
if he did that for the Newcastle Knights, he'd be
out for a number of weeks, but I don't know
how that works instead of origin.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Did you get a past? Don't you?
Speaker 1 (10:41):
I think you do? You get a past? I know
they're asking old Gus Guild about it. Should he be
suspended from NRL and he's like on origin play yeah.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
And the cricket to comeback as well from the New
Zealand cricketers. That stumps. On the opening day of the
first ever cricket Test match against Ireland in Belfast, the
black Caps have reached three hundred and sixty one for five,
Ravishing Rick, Ravendra and Cowboy Blundelle made centuries. At one
point the Kiwis were eighty six for four before the
Harry Raven Cowboy put on two hundred and seventeen for
(11:14):
the fifth workest.
Speaker 1 (11:15):
So we're on schedule to score seven hundred runs here.
Speaker 10 (11:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:18):
I think it's well, it's an open it's an open
wicket practice for the English series which kicks off.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
At Lord's right and av Ireland is I suppose just
the chance to get the black Caps in.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Yeah, it's a big deal for them. They get a
player a Tier one nation over there, and interesting though
that Ireland is one nation for cricket.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Yeah, yeah, but.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
In football, remember it's Northern Ireland versus Republic of Ireland.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
For most other sports. Yeah, I think it basically. And
then there's the other thing about like.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
I think rugby is all Ireland too.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Yeah then oh is it?
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:51):
I think it is. And then there's like some things
represented by the UK. Then there's Wales in Scotland. A
different thing then, particularly in cricket, the West Indies don't
get started on the hodge podge.
Speaker 9 (12:02):
Another thing I heard to put it in perspective, Ireland
have been playing Test cricket for eight years and they've
played this is their thirteenth of the game and we're
playing fourteen in their calendar year, so we play a
little bit more Test cricket.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
So them we are in there.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Yeah, yeah, pretty much Sooritarian radient and the crowds show
and the top two sides in Super Rabia resting a
host of key players for the final round. With their
playoff spots locked in, the number one ranked Hurricanes traveled
to Crusaders tomorrow night without around ten frontline players. Coach
(12:34):
Clark Laidlaw says being top seed affords them the luxury
to rest a few players. The second seeded Cho's manna.
They've rested several players to play the Blues in Hamilton,
with the visitors without Patrick Tuopolo to Evan Charlton one
News and Bowden Barrett through injury.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, I kind of. I mean I understand that we
were talking about this. Why would you risk your your
best players coming into this because particularly that Crusaders Hurricanes game,
neither team can go up or down in the standings.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Really yeah, but there's a lot of movement from from
three to six, and that is going to affect the
Chiefs because if if the Blues beat the Chiefs and
the Crusaders lose, then the Blues go up to third yea,
and the Crusaders I think go to fifth, which means
the Chiefs play the Crusaders the following week, which we
don't want to do and Hamilton I'd rather much play
(13:25):
the Brumbies or yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
I think it's also a bit of foxing from the
Hurricanes as well, because it's like, why are we going
to show you and give you a game plan against us,
you know, give away what we're going to do and
give you a chance to play against us for the
finals where we think we're probably going to come across
you again anyway, which I think is cowardice from the Hurricanes,
because the team with any sort of gumption would have
just gone, you know what, this is what we're going
(13:48):
to do. Try and stop it.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
Oh, another sold out to stadium though tomorrow night it's
going to be an absolute ripper of a game.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
Yeah, I need to get down there. I've not been
to that stadium. It looks awesome on TV.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Yeah, Rockenny, not many not anymore.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Either, No Hanson, I think it's going to be the
new Yeah, Scott Handsome Murners, not Steve, not Steve, and.
Speaker 4 (14:07):
There Sneve's over and Japan making a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
Yes, we're talking about it before. But up next after
the Offspring, we're going to talk about illegal stare hunting.
Someone sicks through on three four oh three oh we
stare hunting last night stags. Anytime triescore a toy hammer
and under forty nine and a half, mister bucks, they're
got to work.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
Jury and midnight the hold key breakfast.
Speaker 4 (14:28):
Now, man, I this is probably something you relate to.
Two youngsters have gone through the youth justice process. I
relate to that for unlawful hunting. After two prize stags
were shot and killed on private land. The stags were
shot in Central Target in May on May seventeen. That's
only a couple of weeks ago. Yeah, well, I mean
private land. Are we talking like just putting leaning the
(14:49):
gun through the fence and just kind of throwing some
grains down like you're at a pitting zoo and then
just putting a bullet through its here? Is that what
we're talking about?
Speaker 1 (14:57):
It? Was it in a pin? Did they just walk up?
What are the odds of us? Look at thirteen pointer
has just jumped into a pin.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
So police from Cromwell and Queen's Executive search warrants yesterday
in Cromwell and Lake Hayes. One of the news was
a firearm license Hodle. That's nice. The license and the
firearms were seized. Police also have recovered antlers they believed
to have belonged to the two stags. Don't we be
returned to the owner?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Thanks, thanks the four hundred kg's of meat, But here's
the antlers that you can maybe put up the door.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
I reckon. This is how they managed to catch them
so quickly, because you know Central Otago small rural community.
Speaker 4 (15:34):
They would have posted it.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
They would, Yeah, they would have posted it, or someone
would have gone around to the house and gone, jeez,
dos are some big antlers.
Speaker 4 (15:41):
That fourteen points.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
We haven't seen one of those around here for decades.
But I did note that Dave up the road.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
He's lost two of his fourteen pointers.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Yeah, and he would have known exactly how many points
ahead too. Yeah. This is not the first time I've
heard of this happening downsouth. So where I grew up
in WAYMTI, we have the peace Quest because we've got
a lot of wallabies around there.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Peace Quest is a shooting thing.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
Yes, it's very different thing to the peace Quiest that
Jeremy Wells participated in. It's a very different thing.
Speaker 4 (16:12):
And different from meth Fest and myth Methin.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Very different, well, not too dissimilar. Now the peace Quiest
is there's you know, there's prizes for it's about keeping
the pest population down and of animals that is. And
there's prizes for the most you know, ferrets, the most
bloody wallabies, the most whatever. There's prizes for the biggest
(16:34):
and one year somebody weight wise is it year size wise?
One year somebody smashed the record for the biggest wallaby
that had ever been found in the district. And it
was making waves because I think you won like a
hat and a T shirt and one hundred bucks or
something that for the biggest wallaby. And everyone's going, my god,
this fellow has come down from you know, he's about
(16:54):
it's from about three towns over.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
About ten k away.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Now others, okay, it come down from to do this,
and everyone's going, Jesus, we have not seen this is
like it was the size of one of those bloody
Great Western reads that you see kangaroo basically a kangaroo,
and everyone's like and it looked ridiculous because you know,
there's all the wallabies, wallabies for the most part, like
a big rabbit, yeah more than a small gag the
(17:19):
big tail and the big leagus, big tail and the
big leagues on it. And then right at the end
of the road it's just this g ganguine thing. Oh
my god, Skippy Skip Skippy is literally at the end
of the end. They're like, congratulations. I don't know how
you pulled this off. You would have thought that someone
in the district would have seen this thing before you
shot it, but no, you've just pulled a monster out
of the depths. I don't know how you did it.
(17:40):
This is incredible, Gadin. The hack and the T shirt
gave them the money. The next week there's a news
there's a story in the newspaper. One of the local parks,
like there's playground, there's a cycling belodrome, and at one
point there's like a petting zoo. They got a they're
got a couple of peacocks, donkeys bergs.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
There's a cockatiel in there.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
There's a cockatail in there that'll say hello to you
if you swear. Yeah, yeah, that's right. And and in
amongst all of that, some rescued wallabies, say, for example,
a Joey they found after, you know, in a pouch
after its mother had been hip a cup whatever or shot. Well,
the biggest one that they had had in there all
of a sudden was missing. And so this guy had
(18:23):
come down from a few towns over shot a tame
wallaby in the bidding zoe and then entered it into
the peace quest, took his hat and T shirt and
you got to respect the grift. Yeah, I think they
made him gave the hat and the T shirt back,
but I don't know if David saw the money again, Jerry.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
And Night, the Hdiarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
That she quite a traumatic song for me there on
Euderly Woman behind the Counter of a Small Town failed
my music example in ca singing that song. I think
it was a selection issue. I think I chose the wrong.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
He didn't go for you, didn't go Angels, Nah, no.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
No, Angels didn't come out until later on. Angels was
when I was at the Freezing Works. You had to
get onto a full sheer boner to be a full boner,
to be a full boner, so you were half boner
before that, and then you're a you're on the semi yeah.
But to become a rager, yeah, you had to sing
a song and you had to get the whole room
(19:19):
of one hundred old people singing with you, and they
didn't sing along. You had to try again next week
and you were okay, And I got Robbie Williams Angels
and you got full Heart and I got full Rager.
So it made me a lot of money. That song
very good, But no, that one there, I just I
just failed an inca exactly. Everyone else was doing show
tunes like cats and Ship.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
How the hell are you passing inca singing a song?
Speaker 1 (19:39):
What happened?
Speaker 4 (19:40):
What's happened to the kids these days?
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Well, evidently you can't, or at least I couldn't. And
we're going to talk about being a light rider, riding
on e ruder, something near and dear to your heart. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (19:50):
So I got in the car yesterday morning to come
into work.
Speaker 9 (19:53):
Now I'm aware that I'm twenty three kilometers away from work. Yeah,
and I've got one of those cars. You've got a prayer,
I've got a press, got a Preyers, got a press.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
It looks like an Actually, how many times of people
just jumped in the back of your car and just
thought and an uber.
Speaker 9 (20:08):
I turned up once to sober drive for a mate
and he was like, I honestly thought of Prius had
turned up, but it was you.
Speaker 10 (20:14):
So that was embarrassing.
Speaker 9 (20:15):
And it's got one of those gauges that tells you
exactly how many kilometers you're going to get. And so
I'm like, okay, so I've got forty six kilometers back
and forth and it said I had fifty, and I thought,
I'm going to push that's a little arch. That's what
I'm going to do today on there obviously got to
work absolutely fine. And then it said that I had
twenty five kilometers to get home, and I thought, well,
(20:36):
that's that's going to be fine. There's a lot of
driving on the motorway though.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Yeah, yeah, how many people did you pick up though
on the way back seven or how many rides?
Speaker 9 (20:45):
Well, I've actually got I've actually got the seven seater
I can. I can get quite a few people in there,
bad bodies, I thought. I thought, look, I'm really going
to push push it this time and see how far
I get. I managed to get it right down to
where said I had zero.
Speaker 10 (21:01):
Kilometers still to guard.
Speaker 9 (21:02):
Oh yeah, And I wondered exactly how much fuel I
could get into the car now. According to the manual,
I have a forty two leader fuel tank. Okay, I
know I'm giving you a lot of numbers here. No,
I managed to get forty three and a half leaders
a petrel into my car, So I got that thing
right down to below zero. And I'm just wondering what
you guys run in terms of running that fuel like gornlet.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
Ah, look, I I never really ride the light that
I don't. I don't need that stress in my life.
I've got enough stress in my life, you know, with
my general home life, work life, everything else. I don't
need the car to stress me out as well. So you, yeah,
you as well. Aren't you yelling at me? Aren't you
annoying me? I want you my bat I kind of thing.
So if it means me pulling in and buying you
(21:46):
ten dollars a leader petrol.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
I think that's also a promo hangover. So anyone who
works in promos and radio, you have to return the car.
If it's if it dips under half full, you've got
to fill it back up against it never gets more
than half full. For me, I'm a light rider. I
have destroyed. My first car was a Shundo Stella. I
called it the Stallion and I destroyed that thing because
I would run it on empty so often that and
(22:09):
it was such an old car that it sucked all
the shit up off the bottom of the fuel tag
and just ran that through the engine, just destroyed it.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
Can you remember the get the in first Gear promotion
we did around Pukako Raceway where we got five we
got five cars. We put five liters of petrol in
each car and they started on the start line and
you couldn't leave first gear and the car was full
of four people you and three mates. I think he
won ten grand and it was how many laps could
you do before your car ran out of.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Pittrol the last car stand.
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Yeah, so you had to manage your your fuel load.
You know, you could go out hard and first gear
or you could just cruise it first gear. Yeah, and
one caught fire and let one I think another one.
I don't know what happened. Definitely something blew up on
the engine, and then there was one particular hyonda yes,
I believe that went for about an hour and a half.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
Yeah, So the issue, the issue there appelling in the
curtain back was we had someone out at Pukakoe who
who drained the fuel tanks for them, but because of
the way Hyundai make their petrol tanks, it was plastic
and they he drained it as best he could by
siphoning it, but he actually couldn't tell how much was
lift at the bottom there. So there's a chance they
had twice as much fuel as anyway else. That just
(23:16):
comes down to car selection there.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
Yeah. Well, originally the idea was that we were going
to race from Auckland to Wellington in first gear on
State Highway one. That got shut down pretty quick by
the police, so we had to go to an internal
h But for.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
Me, I we've talked about this before. It does I
reckon come down to what kind of car you've got.
If you've got a Japanese car, they're like, they're very respectful.
They're like, hey, you're running pretty long, guess yeah, yeah,
next available convenience. Why don't you pull over and fill up?
But all good? If not, you know what I mean,
we'll be we'll get home. We'll probably we'll get you
(23:48):
to work. Well you back home. A German car is
like nine. The field line's like, hey, you have one
hundred meters to get to the next thing that you did. Yeah,
Oh my god, I've said another flashback to when Leehart
changed the stereo of the Hodaky station vehicle to.
Speaker 3 (24:05):
German Jerry and MNI the Hodarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Here we go the Hodarchy Breakfast with Manias to it
and former Hodachey hidden ow acc head.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
G lane pregnant pause, There wasn't it pregnant pause?
Speaker 1 (24:26):
I was on the edge of my seat to find
out which former Honarchy boss and current acc bos. It
was going to be.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
There was so many of it.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
I was also felt a little bit pointed to be
like former just because of the allegations. They had to
they had to move there, had to put that, and
they had to move on. Yeah, Elanea is with us
four today and tomorrow. Another chance before eight o'clock this
morning to get in the drawer to join our gang
starting a gang.
Speaker 4 (24:50):
Yeah, I've seen the artwork for that. Looks more like
a gang bang. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Look, there's been a bit of feedback around that sent
to me, and I just want to I want everyone
else out there to know I'm a victim of that. No, no, no, no,
pretty willing, I will say it's really stirred someone in
something and certain aspect of the community. I think it's
a beer. Yeah, I think it's a bear.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
I think the otters are quite keen on the likes
of Minogue.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
That one of the beers, and Jerry's got a whole
rocky horror picture shows that thing going on and that
as well. We had at the Alternative Commentary Collective a
while ago tried to get patches made for our commentary.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Yeah, yes, we had the common Teerros.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
We were going to be called the Common Tears, and
we reached out because we're like, somebody does the embroidery
for the Gang.
Speaker 4 (25:38):
I think we also pitched for sky Sport to be
the Mighty Missionary Mob years.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Yeah, they weren't keen on that, nor were any of
the people who actually made the patches until the Gang
Patch Band came because we emailed a few of them.
They're like, these guys don't really find it that funny.
We're not taking the pst out of them, we're taking
the past out of ourselves.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
I mean, it's a lot of embroidery goes into those patches.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
Somebody's doing it.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
That's hundreds of dollars worth of embroidery.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Somebody's doing it. We did manage to track a couple down.
We got in touch with them. They said absolutely not,
And then the Gang Patch Band came in and all
of a sudden the emails started coming back and Hey,
am out a loose end.
Speaker 4 (26:12):
I've got a ten thousand dollar embroidery machine sitting here Idle.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Yeah. Yeah, if you still can on that jacket, we
can get it made. Also, Dihndod's going to be joining us.
He's heating over to Satney to watch the wires versus Penrith,
and we'll go of a state of origin as well,
plus one hundred and fifty dollars for it's academic. But
up next snap pole handles up or down in the dishwasher.
Speaker 4 (26:35):
Depends what you're looking for, reckon. Is it like the
bananas at the supermarket? Nope?
Speaker 10 (26:38):
Not really?
Speaker 1 (26:40):
Well, have you say three to four right through eight hundred?
Hard I get is tearing at families apart.
Speaker 3 (26:45):
Jerry and Mini, the hold I key breakfast.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
Trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel, Feller's Wi
debating handles up verst down in the dishwasher. Now, I
this came to my attention because a while ago I
was having a discussion with someone else about being in
a long term relationship and the tips and tricks to
help you get through there, And I said, you know,
for us, we're generally on the same page for most things,
(27:09):
Like you know, we we have the same approach to laundry,
because these are the things that you know, people think
it's all about the passion and that you know, the.
Speaker 4 (27:19):
Same that dies in the first six months and get gone.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
And then it's about do you guys agree on what
goes in the dryer versus what gets hung on the
washing colors versus whitewash that kind of thing, iron clothes,
Yeah and so, and then I said, you know, for example,
we both stack the dishwasher entirely different and neither of
us care and it's fine. And then I realized, oh,
(27:43):
it's not fine. She's just not saying anything about it.
And I went home and I was like, hey, you
know the dishwasher. She's like, yeah, do you stack it?
She doesn't restack it, but it does drive her insane
that we put the cutlery in in different ways. So
I wanted this morning handles up or handles down in
(28:03):
the basket when you're putting your cutlery in.
Speaker 4 (28:05):
Well, most of my knives are bone handles. I have
to hand wash them all.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
This will has a lot of people off. I get
a set of bone handles, I just bang them in
the dishwash. Oh my god, horribly discolored. I think the
blade's about to come out of it. It's rusting. But I
don't care. I'm not washing this.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
There's only one good use for bone handle knives.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
Yeah, yeah, that's right, And it's not I'm not buttering
my toast of them.
Speaker 4 (28:26):
Certainly not.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
But yeah, so what way do you go?
Speaker 4 (28:29):
It's just well, like I can understand the tension around
the dishwashers as in our house as well. I'm a
very meticulous packer. I try and get in as much
as possible so I can do had to wash the
least amount by hand, which makes sense.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
At the point of the dishwash.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
But my life partner is more chaotic just in and out.
I'm like, what are you doing? So there's a little
bit of tension there, but it's definitely handles up because
I've slept over a couple of times and stabbed my hand.
Even worse, I've fallen over sideways and stabbed my hip
very very close to even going through the backside. If
you've got a knife sticking up, the fork sticking up
(29:04):
makes total sense.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
Yeah, no, one hundred percent. Will you re stack the
dishwasher if she's done stands.
Speaker 9 (29:13):
We're definitely handles up for a couple of reasons. One,
we've got two reasonably young kids, so that's nine and eleven, and.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
Also they've got to learn at some stage, mate, you
have to operate around knives and if you don't if
you cover them in cotton wool. You can't just cover
them cotton wool.
Speaker 10 (29:29):
Man.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
If they slip over and their their face falls into
a knife and the dishwasher, then that's evolution.
Speaker 9 (29:33):
Well, but then how can we helicopter pair? And if
we're not doing stuff? That's godoy the other thing? And
when I has met my racist dog Betty the bettered colleague,
she loves to hang around the dishwasher when it's open,
and every now and again she'll try and have a
lock of something.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
And you've got you got one, you're gonna wash it?
Speaker 9 (29:49):
No, Well, I don't want it to lack a knife
that's sticking up though, because that's not bill.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
Have you tried putting a person of color in your
dishwasher to scare her away?
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Maybe just like you can still if you go to
a sign hand shop, you can get the still, get the
little gully walls. You can just stick that in the washer.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Don't have that on my Bungo caut this morning. Me,
I'm so I go handles up because the point of
the handle is to hold the implement. So why wouldn't
you put it handled up so that you could just
pull it back out again. There's obviously the safety issue
as well.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
This is not even an argument.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Well, but I know that there's other elements of the
community who believe that it washes better if the part
that gets dirty is sticking up, because you know, if
they going in the basket, the dirty bit is in there.
And if she pulls out a fork that's still got
a little bit of a thing on it.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
I'm going to something that's going to rock your world. Yeah,
I get a new dishwasher, Life flat top tray.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Damn. Now I need to get a new dishwasher to
cancel this pole. Cancel it now. We're not canceling the pile.
Give it take three four eight, three handles up or
handles down. One part of the spectrum de use that
on bex just ticks. So she's got a cutlery trail
at the top of the shell. Yeah there, you just
probably got a gollywel it's not the hurts. You listen
(31:06):
to the hurts right now.
Speaker 5 (31:07):
Jerry and Mania joined their complays the Hidaki Breakfast discussion
group on Facebook.
Speaker 1 (31:13):
Running a snappole handles up or down on the dishwasher.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
We're cutting each stuff that's right in top four.
Speaker 1 (31:20):
Let's go to the phone lines line number one. Good morning, Hodaki,
how are you talking to okay?
Speaker 11 (31:25):
Sarah?
Speaker 1 (31:26):
Sarah, are you handles up or handles down on the
cutlery department.
Speaker 11 (31:31):
Down the tip of the knife? You know, shut knife
snaps in the bottom.
Speaker 12 (31:35):
Of a tray.
Speaker 11 (31:38):
But also we've also had a dishwasher before with cutlery
trays in the top and there's been is less space
than the bottom for the last place, so we had
much yea and cleaned in the bottom.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
That's one hundred percent. But so you so you go
handles down in the basket because you snapped the tip
off a knife, But what if.
Speaker 11 (32:06):
In the bottom because the fine tip sticks through.
Speaker 10 (32:09):
The late.
Speaker 1 (32:12):
I never heard of a chop stick going in. But
wouldn't you rather snapped off in the bottom of the
basket that snapped off in your hand when you went
in to reach in there? I suppose you're a bit
more switched on than that, Sarah, Thanks very much for
the call, Sarah. That we go to the text for
Sheen as well. Controversial but standard cutlery handles down, sharp
knives and handles up or lying down in the top tray.
Speaker 4 (32:34):
A mixed race basket.
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Yes, interesting, yeah, Karen Lane, any relation was coming here
to say say the same thing about the cutlery tray.
Absolute game changer on its handles up in the basket.
You're supposed to mix them up and down in the cutlery,
do hek you right, Scott see spoons, et cetera. Don't
get all bunched up and not washed properly. Chantal recans
(32:56):
handles down, and the baskets are way easier than that
top shelf non since for unpacking handles. For sure, I
like to grab thirty to time in unloading, and I'm
not risking getting a full of steak knife. That is
a great point. Handles down, you psycho paths Ah, Jerry
has people for that, people for that.
Speaker 4 (33:15):
He doesn't have a dishwasher. He has a person yes, yeah,
he has as staff called the dishwasher.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Yes, that washes dish. I used to go handles up.
Then I got a new dishwasher and the manual for
it said to go handles down. Not going to argue
with the manual.
Speaker 4 (33:28):
Has anyone ever died? Has there any been serious injury
from anyone like accidentally falling in and paling themselves on
a fruit knife.
Speaker 9 (33:37):
Well, you did ask that off of you and you
said I beat you. They don't have stats for that,
but there was a study done in the UK on
dishwasher related injuries. Twelve and a half percent of adults
and five percent of kids and surveyed households have suffered
sharp object injuries while loading or unloading.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
Do you go no death?
Speaker 1 (33:54):
So no one bleed out, you'd be doing well to
kill yourself.
Speaker 5 (34:01):
Jerry and Mania catched the radio show from six till
ten weekdays, The Hurdacky.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
Breakfast State of Origin. At game one last night, some
are calling it the greatest escape in history.
Speaker 7 (34:11):
This is it now. You can't imagine they're going to
get too many more chances. Arry kicks high coming through.
There's pressure, James.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
New South I was coming back from twenty nil down
to win twenty two to twenty both Lane and I
fell asleep from a watcher and joining us now a
huge league fan friend of the show, Die Henwood. Did
you manage stay awake through the whole thing?
Speaker 8 (34:41):
Yes, I stood away. I stayed awake.
Speaker 6 (34:43):
And this is coming from a New South Wales fan
who saw that game was done and dusted after three
tries and eight minutes, but I don't know.
Speaker 8 (34:52):
It was a great escape.
Speaker 6 (34:53):
Was it a Bobby Dezer was was it a Barnstormer?
Speaker 8 (34:57):
Was it a me O? My yes, boys, I don't know.
Speaker 6 (35:01):
I don't know, but it was an amazing comeback and
people stood up, like Nathan Cleary, who everyone's been saying
he needs to dominate Origin. He got Player of the Match.
He put up that amazing kick for Tedesca to score
on the buzzer. It proved a good move to Boo
bring Tedesco back into the squad. Warriors wise, cape Well
(35:22):
had an amazing game. Mitch Barnette sort of was a
bit here and there, but he solidified himself as from
making a bit of a mistake early on.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
Yeah, but the only mistake he made was at the
hands of Kirk Capewell. I was quite proud of the
Warriors there for really dominating State of Origin game one.
Whenever I watched State of Origin die, I look at
the intensity and the game looks almost different to the
n ME. I mean it is. Why can't NRL teams
play at that level throughout the season.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
I don't know, it just seems so fast, yeah, like fast.
The tackling of Ashley Kin a bit of respect. I
thought the refing, aside from the big contentious call was
pretty good actually, like minimal six agains.
Speaker 8 (36:11):
It was pretty flowing.
Speaker 6 (36:14):
And we've got to talk about the fifty seventh minute
send off of Kaylen Ponger. It really changed the game.
I mean I've always I've actually thought that you've got
to have some symb in action for leading with the head,
even if it is just a head clash. That looked
like a shoulder charge for me. But I thought this
symbol would have been enough for that. I thought the
(36:34):
sendoff changed the game too much.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
Yeah, the slow moo of it Die was probably the
one that did him because the slow mo, no hands,
shoulder and head to the head made it look quite bad.
So there, and he tried to defend him by saying
he was bleeding from the air and it was a
legitimate head clash.
Speaker 6 (36:52):
Yeah, it also did look like he was almost leading
with his head like a head butt, so it was
a bold mope.
Speaker 8 (37:01):
Also, he was he was trying.
Speaker 6 (37:03):
To speed run a back injury with the way he
was catching the ball in the backfield.
Speaker 8 (37:08):
Early in the game.
Speaker 6 (37:10):
Ponger just kept doing these enormous jumps and landing flat
on his back.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
He was.
Speaker 6 (37:15):
He was really electric, So in terms of it, like
a raw footy fan, it was it was sad to
see him go for that last twenty minutes.
Speaker 8 (37:23):
But the Blues have come back in the series of the.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Live Yeah, I feel like Ola Kwatza was absolutely cranking
them on the kickchases as well, a lot of chop
tackles around the knees. I'm just about blue my acls
watching it.
Speaker 6 (37:36):
Oh yeah, I just love watching him play.
Speaker 8 (37:40):
He bent the line a lot. I think he's going
to be happy as a debutante. Same with Ethan Strange
had a great game, great game to start off, and
Sam Walker did as well.
Speaker 6 (37:50):
He put through a couple of Silkie kicks, including for
Robert Toyer for the first try, and I thought it
was It was a good game. It'll be interesting to
see what happens because I feel Billy Slater slightly out
coaches Lorrie Daly just in terms of getting the team up,
getting a game plan on. But I mean, Lorrie Daly'll
(38:11):
be a happy man after that out of getting out
of that escape room in the allotted time.
Speaker 1 (38:17):
Yeah, you wouldn't think there'll be too many changes for
the blows off a one like that, maybe just Latrellophy
is right for game two, the top of the table
class that we've all been looking for to Panthers versus
Warriors this weekend, Die, you're heading over to watch the game,
what do you expecting to see?
Speaker 6 (38:31):
I'm a bit excited taking my son over tomorrow for
our own little mini magic ground doing Sharks v. Manly
and then Bulldogs Tigers, then the Mighty Wires taking on Penrith.
I like the fact we haven't named any backups from Origin.
We're just sticking with a side that we know. It'll
(38:53):
be interesting to see Cleary look pretty clean after that game,
so I imagine he'll back up same of Casey McLain,
who played absolutely amazingly. In fact, my change for Origin
two would be putting Casey McLain in the head of Crichton.
I really hope Penrith play their star players. It's on
(39:15):
their home turf at combak Out in paramatter, and I
think the Warriors.
Speaker 8 (39:21):
Can get up.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
I am worried that we lost Rts and that because
where we've always struggled a little bit as our defensive
system through the centers, and we seem to have that
lockdown with Roger as we saw in that epic storm
game with the don't argue finger. But I think the Warriors,
(39:44):
which we're traveling, well, I think we can. We can
keep this damn close. And I'm actually confident with a
jagged little win.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
Yeah, I think we can too. And if we do
that puts us on the top of the table, doesn't
it'll be the first time we've been top of the
table at this time of the season for a long time.
Speaker 6 (40:00):
Oh, it's got to be for ages and also top
of it. And where we're we're really comfortable in that
top four at the moment, and we're playing great football
and so we've got.
Speaker 8 (40:11):
A little run with a bye and then the Sharks
at home.
Speaker 6 (40:16):
So if we could knock off penrif we could then
get another six points under our belt, pretty well.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
Yeah not long Live the King as well die because
that game is nine pm on Sunday, but usually I'll
be in bed by then, but it's King's Birthday the
next day, so there's no excuses for a Sunday afternoon
session leading into the Wars versus the Panther's diet safe
travels over there make sure you get you, get your
banner out and get on TV and we'll look out
for you.
Speaker 6 (40:42):
Oh yes, and it'll all be updated into very Not
Safe for work, threads, jury and the.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Night they Breakfast, trn out of play.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
It's academic. We're gonna ask you five questions. All you
need to do is get three correct to win a
one hundred dollar Bunnings voucher and get your school's name
itched into the much warnted It's academic role of honor
alongside these esteamless establishments coming clot culture.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
There was triggering and so this obviously your intelligence directly
correlates to your high school education. Is that what you thinks?
Speaker 1 (41:23):
Saying certainly there's an inverse relationship to some high schools. Yeah,
did you hear your high school and there?
Speaker 4 (41:28):
Now I didn't, but dubious of a capable I fear
for your college and Phraser High School, which we're in
my hood. There's no way that they would have answered
any of these questions.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
Well, I think you'd be surprised. Let's go to the
lines now where we find Mike from Fun. Good morning, Mike, are.
Speaker 8 (41:42):
You going hey, good morning, good good.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Yes, that's the story. What High School? Will you be
representing this morning?
Speaker 12 (41:49):
Till Morton High School and the flat suburbs of christ Church.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Now, now when you go to christ Church and somebody
inevitably asks you what high school you went to, does
Hill Morton have a good standing?
Speaker 4 (42:02):
No, We're for low were known as the Hillbillies.
Speaker 8 (42:09):
From today forward.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
We will be okay, any good at sport Hillmorton.
Speaker 8 (42:12):
High Oh we we got on there, big rugby school.
Speaker 13 (42:17):
We always played.
Speaker 4 (42:21):
We turned up. Yeah, okay, Mike, A lot of defaults. Mike,
you got five questions? Are you ready to go?
Speaker 8 (42:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (42:29):
Okay? Complete the complete the famous line from the TV
show South Park, Oh my god, they killed Kenny. Correct.
The album O Delay was released by witch artist Beck,
which Queensland Player was sent off last night during the
state of o oh.
Speaker 6 (42:49):
Fuck part of my part of my French I do
not know.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
Okay, for which New Zealand comedian created the character Fred
Dagg Clark Fudge Fudge Clark. It is incorrect, But what
year was the first Men's Rugby World Cup played? What year?
Speaker 12 (43:12):
I can do this? It's eighty eight?
Speaker 4 (43:17):
Oh, no, nine eighty seven, Mike, I thought you were
going to naw that five out of five. Kaylin Ponger
was the Queen's Hane player. John Clark was the comedian,
so he got the last name right in.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
Nineteen eighty seven, I've never heard someone get so close.
I mean, obviously Callen pong you didn't know, but Fudge
Clark you got right there. And then nineteen eighty eight
you're about six months off.
Speaker 8 (43:41):
Yeah, yeah, oh fair enough.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
Hilmorton High School was a bridesmaid. Bad luck Mike. Hopefully
one of your schoolmates can get you, guys on the
board down the track, coming up on the homelank you
breakfast Lane's come across a story about something that was
been stolen in Peeha.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
Yes, it's quite an incredible thing to steal.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Yes, we want to hear your story something that. What's
the dumbest thing that you've ever stolen? Plus Ben Tommy Funny.
You'll remember him as about one hundred and fifty key
those who won those back to back championships with the Chiefs.
You'll remember him well. Yes, he's now won back to
back championships over in France and he is on and
historic Bendo. We're going to check in with him after
eight o'clock on the Hodoky.
Speaker 3 (44:21):
Breakfast Jerry and the Hot Archy Breakfast Jerry and Mini
the hod Archy.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
Breakfast thanks to Bunning's Trade gets in it for window
with a new window work with from Bunnings.
Speaker 4 (44:33):
Now I picked up something mania that you would relate to, actually,
because I imagine that you've stolen some dumb shit. Hang on,
you've stolen some dumpcheon.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
What was it an hour ago? It was something Oh
bloody post live stock. Now I'm stealing stuff.
Speaker 4 (44:47):
Wow, that's true. Police have arrested a person after a
fire engine was stolen from the p How fire station yesterday,
surely before eleven thirty in the morning, a broad Daylight
Emergency's un staff reported one of their vehicles stolen from PIHA.
Not just kind of just driving up the road and stop.
This vehicle was tracked heading east before police pulled it
(45:10):
over on Hillsborough Road in Mount Albert in the city, Yeah,
which is thirty six kilometers away. And I imagine driving
a fire truck is not It's not just putting in
a drive.
Speaker 1 (45:19):
I can't imagine. Well, for me, I'd be going from
a two thousand and eight Suzuki Swift into a full
blown fire truck. What what's the plan They're like, what
are you going to do with the fire truck once
you've stolen it.
Speaker 4 (45:29):
I'm parking outside of the mate's place giving them a call.
They came out, put the sirens on for a bet
and go look what I.
Speaker 1 (45:35):
Got and then blast them with that thing. Yeah, I
don't know what they where they thought they were going
to get to. It would be a nightmare to drive
around the city in that.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Way, not if you put the lights on, because then
you you just go through all the lights and everything
pull out in the middle of the road.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
It's a good point. Doesn't help me on a crash
in a park car though it's.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
Pretty I mean, it's an out there thing to neck.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
It's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard to steal. Yeah,
I mean, but everyone's got a story of having trying
to steal something dumbe when they were younger.
Speaker 4 (45:59):
What about you?
Speaker 1 (46:00):
For us? I reckon There was a there's a deery
on I think it's Wady Road in Tomorrow and it's
got a giant novelty coke can on the on the
top of the awning out the front. There very familiar
somewhere between eight and ten feet tall and we still
have a van that we would we would drive around
tomorrow when we were responsibly on the purse. And one
(46:20):
night we pulled up next to that thing, climbed onto
the roof of the van and we got citizens arrested.
So it's not a thing. Well, so we were parked
right out front of it. The deer is shut, obviously,
We're up on the roof of the van trying to
get this coke can onto the thing. We get it
off the roof, and just as that happens, a taxi
pulls up and boxed us, and in the front, another
(46:43):
taxi pulled up and boxed us and behind and they
called the cops. Ah, and so yeah, they basically citizens
arrested us for trying to steal the coke can off
the top of the deery there. If you live in Tmuru,
you another one I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (46:53):
Yeah, I mean, look at most of mine are based
around university days. A lot of stuff in university days.
I remember one time waking up in my room and
there was a flashing orange light coming out of my wardrobe,
kind of like if Et was in there trying to
phone home and his finger was lighting up, and I
was like what the hell is that opened up? And
I'd stolen an entire kind of a frame roadworks signed
(47:17):
with the flashing orange light to warn you that these
roadworks didn't know how to turn it off apparently, So
that was a famously stole the Girls Girls Girls Nude
Nude nunde two and a half meter a frame sign
outside of a tummy bathhouse in christ Church. Military operation.
That one a very military operation. We planned it all
out like almost like a heist. We got the fastest
(47:37):
guy we knew, Zippy. His job was to casually walk
up to the a frame, slam it shut, put it
onto the roof of the car, and his job was
to leg it and we're going to pick him up
two blocks over. Oh. The rest of our job we
had two in the We had two beep on the
back one of the passengers seat obviously the getaway driver.
The nude Nude Nude Girls Girls Girls sign got slap
shut and put onto the roof. At everyone's job part
(47:59):
except the driver was put the hands out of the
window and hold on the sign onto the roof and
then leg it and we picked Zippy up. We were
so overjoyed. We sang it's Calming Home. It's Calming Home.
Nude girls come and we left over two flats, so
we basically got it home. We unscrewed it so I
(48:19):
could take one a frame side to my flat and
turn it into a coffee table, and they took one
to their flat and turned it into a dining room table.
Speaker 1 (48:27):
Did they find you?
Speaker 4 (48:28):
No, they didn't actually until.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
Now, brilliant we'll give us a call one hundred. You'll
give us a text to three four three. Dumbest thing
you've ever tried to steal or successfully stolen?
Speaker 3 (48:39):
Jerry and Midnight the hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
So we tried to call a couple of texts back. Unsurprisingly,
a lot of people were not willing to come on
the radio and tell their thievery stories.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
Yeah, this on the back of someone nicking the PR
fire station fire engine and driving at thirty six kilometers
into town, which is an odd choice to steal. Yeah,
you've You've obviously got a list, and.
Speaker 1 (49:02):
I don't. I've got one one instance of except for
this one and the last one that I share, and
a few others that I can't sayd on the radio. No,
I got one instance of shoplifting is when I'd just
gone to university, and so we went down to the local,
came out at the Meridian there and done us and
I was looking at the T shirt I was going
to buy as I decided I didn't want it, and
(49:24):
what I didn't realize was it was still over my shoulder.
I just slung it over my shoulder and I walked
up to the counter with the guy I had only
just met, you know, first week. It's like oh week
in at so he didn't know me. I was cuing
up behind him. He was buying his stuff. The next
checkout guy was like, I can serve you over here
if you want, and I had forgotten I had the
T shirt that I looked at him and I was like,
(49:44):
I'm not buying anything. I was like, I know, thanks man,
I'm just shoplifting as a joke. He shot me the
fealthiest look. The guy I was worth turn around and
looked at me. I was like, what the hell, and
then I walked out. As as I walked out, opposite
came out. In those days, maybe still as there was
a still sports. Someone walked out of Stirling Sport and
the alarm went off and I pointed at them and
(50:05):
I was like, well, thief. Meanwhile, I've just shoplifted a
T shirt from CAMA, told them that I was shoplifted,
and then just walked straight out of the CAMA.
Speaker 4 (50:15):
I went through a terrible phase of putting giant pepper
grinders down my pants at restaurants, pars and restaurants, you know, for.
Speaker 8 (50:24):
A while there.
Speaker 4 (50:25):
I don't know if it's so to anymore, but you
had the meat along pepper grinders and they'd come to
your table. It was almost like a comedy act, really,
and I remember putting down the side of my jeans
and then I put the other one down the other
side of my jeans, so I had two pepper grinders,
and I had to try and make my way out
of the walking like John Wayne, and then getting home
and waking out in the morning. Two giant, one meter
(50:47):
long pepper grinder.
Speaker 1 (50:48):
What am I going to do with those? Sicks? To
come and stole the cast iron Tilly bathed from the
fat lady's arms and palming, Jim managed to acquire an
NRL Grand Final flag from the ninety five Grand Final
Great Souvena. It was faster back then. Someone else managed
to pinch about fifty garden names from all over Levin.
(51:09):
Although it's technically not stealing. We used to swap letter
boxes around which had the same address number. Oh no, Yeah,
imagine the owner wondering wtf we stole the lower heart
Knock shop sign and hammered it into the lawn outside
the first fifteen coach's house.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
There would be stealing something and then planting it in
someone else's residence. Yes, that's evil.
Speaker 1 (51:30):
That is. Tried to steal a police sign off a
street post. Police pulled up on me and my mate
while I was bursting him up. Another texts here someone
stole an armored money van and in the cargolar couple
of year. That's robbery. Let's go to Dan, the truck
driver from Auckland. What's the dumbest thing you've ever tried
to steal? Allegedly?
Speaker 12 (51:50):
So, and I think it was about two thousand and
eight while Ben went on deployment with the army, and
I would have been about fifteen at the time.
Speaker 8 (52:02):
I think.
Speaker 12 (52:03):
And so he's obviously overseas, left his keys through his
car behind And yeah, every few nights I'm off joy
writing a.
Speaker 8 (52:11):
Dead's car as you do.
Speaker 12 (52:14):
No license outdurn Skins with the boys. Allegedly when he
came back he didn't know, and tis state he still
does not know. He was more disappointed than I have
still moved out at home while he was on deployment.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
I think he would have been proud if he had
found out you're tagging that thing for skins. What kind
of car was?
Speaker 12 (52:34):
It was a nineteen ninety nine AU How can I
think it was?
Speaker 4 (52:39):
Oh? Yeah, perfect, that's perfect doing padic work.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
Yeah, brilliant, good stuff, Dan, Thanks very much for the call.
Gary once stole the ran Philly shield backing around two
thousand and three slash four. He's got the photo evidence.
I'd destroyed that for you. Gary. Another person who stole
William Larnock's skull from his tomb and had it on
a fireplace and a shelf for a number of years
at a shooting flat. And there's a few more texts
come through. Give us a song to preread these.
Speaker 4 (53:03):
Yes, sweet Jesus, I.
Speaker 1 (53:07):
Don't want to out someone for an historic crime.
Speaker 3 (53:11):
Jury in the night the Hoarky Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (53:14):
We're talking dumbest things you've stolen off the back of
the fire truck from the p fire station being stolen
yesterday eleven am to broad daylight.
Speaker 4 (53:22):
And taken for a thirty six cimeter joy ride in
the middle of the day.
Speaker 1 (53:25):
Absolutely ridiculous. Great pleasure to welcome to the show. John
from Gore, Good morning, John from Gore. What's the what's
the dumbest thievery you've born witnessed to?
Speaker 13 (53:34):
How about a giant cigarette? Probably east to show and
we smuck it on my head as well, and it
was five foot high?
Speaker 1 (53:43):
Why was it? First of all, why was there a
five foot high cigarette at that Easter show?
Speaker 13 (53:48):
Was that advertising a brand called Cabans?
Speaker 1 (53:51):
It was an advert for Darries, for the dorry.
Speaker 13 (53:55):
Yeah, but we used to wear greatcoats.
Speaker 1 (53:58):
Ah yeah, and so you message. But hang on, you
still wouldn't fit a five foot under there, would you?
Speaker 13 (54:05):
A little over six? What did you do with the
sticking up my arm pit? What did you up my neck?
Speaker 4 (54:11):
What did you do with the five foot siggi?
Speaker 10 (54:13):
John?
Speaker 13 (54:15):
We used it for display purposes. We have nicked it
from these to show it because we were fairly young
at the time. You used to get rid of these
stood the great big trench coats, you know, they called
them great coats.
Speaker 4 (54:28):
Others not as flasher coats.
Speaker 13 (54:32):
Yeah, yeah, that's sort of thing you but but.
Speaker 8 (54:37):
Thank you great.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
Did you ever offer anyone a cigarette and then pull
that thing up?
Speaker 13 (54:42):
We used to use as a party joke. One a cigarette, yeah,
at least one on.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
The wall, on the wall, the good stuff.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
John, Always good to hear from you. The bro stole
one of gene Baton's propellers from aero bar in the city.
It was like three minutes. He lifted it off the wall,
tried to walk out the front door, but the doors
opened inwards, so it made a loud bang as he
hit it.
Speaker 4 (55:07):
The whole bar looked.
Speaker 1 (55:09):
Another customer was entering, and he opened the door for
He was found fifteen minutes later with it sticking out
of his courteen's side window.
Speaker 4 (55:17):
What are you gonna do with that?
Speaker 1 (55:19):
This is the thing you're not thinking when you're stealing
this stuff.
Speaker 4 (55:22):
I know, I remember I'm next to obviously stealing meat along.
Pepper grinders. Shot glasses used to be quite a big
easy thing to steal. But I stick them into my socks,
so you put them in your socks. I had so
many in my socks one time that one smashed and
I remember getting home and had bloody ankles everywhere with
massive regret obviously in the morning.
Speaker 1 (55:43):
Yeah. Well, so I was on a packed dance floor
in Hamilton one night with Lee Hart Do I have
your attention? And people were buying him shots because I
was with him by proxy, they were also buying me
a shot to be polite. I don't know if you've
ever done a shot where you're not standing at a table,
What the hell do you do with the shot glass
when you're done? Because we're just on a pack. Well,
(56:05):
so I had the button down shirt to top pockets,
so I filled my jeans pockets, then my shirt pockets.
I've done about eight shots by the stage and the
bouncer looks over and he just sees a guy with
eight shot glasses on his person. He's like, get out.
Speaker 4 (56:18):
You had have sounded like a glassy walking around.
Speaker 1 (56:23):
I was like, I've got nowhere to put the shot glasses.
He's letting that you're trying, you're trying to steal them.
Speaker 3 (56:27):
Come coming up on the Hodicky breakfast if.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
We message texts, who I get to it after nine
o'clock coming up next to it a group chat and
I know this is near and dear to your heart.
Speaker 4 (56:37):
Oh my God, Yes, plus.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
Going to chicken on being tummy Chick for a pulse
because he is on a historic bender after winning the
was it the French French top fourteen? Over the weekend
Jerry and.
Speaker 2 (56:51):
Midnight the hold Ikey Breakfast Jerry and the Night the
hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
Last week might have been the week before Ruda had
a social media faux pas. He got into the wrong
group chat. He sent what could have been perceived as
a disparaging question into his school basketball.
Speaker 9 (57:13):
Group chait my son's school basketball. It was actually meant
for our work chat. It was it was assessing whether
or not giving a child McDonald's in the morning and
I'm talking fries and a thick shakey is good for
the kid?
Speaker 10 (57:25):
Is a good breakfast?
Speaker 8 (57:26):
Is this?
Speaker 1 (57:27):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (57:27):
And I accidentally send it through to my son's WhatsApp
basketball chat and unfortunately the parents concerned.
Speaker 10 (57:34):
We're in that.
Speaker 4 (57:35):
Yeah, I mean, that's just a it's a basic mistake
that we all make it at some stage. But the group,
the group chat situation. Now WhatsApp, anyone with children of
school age, probably even less than school age, who evolved
in any sort of team sports are going to sympathize
with me here around how wounding they are. I've got
I've got a discount. Now, I've got nine different groups
(57:56):
on my WhatsApp that pop up. Now I need to
tell tell people there's a lot of people out there
who don't know the etiquette around sports WhatsApp groups and
even social WhatsApp groups. Social WhatsApp groups are different because
my job is to send you and I and Joe
Jury and Jimie Wells whoever else the most shocking content possible.
Speaker 1 (58:15):
Yes on, you're nailing that.
Speaker 4 (58:17):
Ye yeah, I mean that's that's different. That's a friendship
where you're just trying to shock an awe with content
that's different from what that's for. And you, I know
you and you. This isn't a group of people where
you do hardly know the parents mixed company. Now Here
is the etiquette.
Speaker 8 (58:30):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (58:31):
The coach's role and the coach and manage it. That
group is to inform you, Okay, that's to inform you
of what time practices. That's to inform you of practice
is canceled. It's to inform you of where a game
is and what time you need to be there. Okay,
that's it. Okay, if Johnny is rolled his ankle taking
a crap this morning, and you write a full list
of why Johnny is not going to be at practice
(58:52):
due to this broken ankle. DM the coach, okay, because
what happens here, this is what happens. You put a Johnny,
Johnny sprained his ankle, and he's an am there.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Whatever.
Speaker 4 (59:01):
What you've got then is a sympathy pilon because another
mother goes, oh my god, is Johnny okay? Best wishes
for his recovery. And what that does is put guilt
on every other parent to like, I need to get
on the sympathy pilon or I've almost got a stone
cold heart. So the sympathy pilon comes on about Johnny
and his ankle, and it's like, you know what, this
is going to kill me. And then this is what
happens after the sympathy pilon finishes. That's fine. Game day,
(59:24):
game day, it's all good. End of the game. They
have a close victory. Okay, it's one try close victory.
The first parent, thank you coaches and team, well done.
The team's doing so well, and we've got the gratitude
pilons right now. The gratitude pilon is now The rest
everyone goes, oh my god, I'm going to have to
do a thank you as well. Okay, here's a tip.
Go up to the coach's face at the game and
(59:46):
go thanks, ruder, thanks, thanks, thank you. Don't get onto
WhatsApp group. Okay, don't do it.
Speaker 1 (59:51):
This is an important public service announcement.
Speaker 4 (59:53):
Don't do it. Gratitude pilon, sympathy pilon.
Speaker 10 (59:56):
Can I ask you a question.
Speaker 9 (59:57):
Let's say, for instance, the assistant coach of my son's
basketball team undernines.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
Isn't that your wife?
Speaker 9 (01:00:04):
No, she's she's the manager. Yep, I may be the
assistant coach. Yeah, I get I get really caught up
and what games are coming up, and I get really
caught up in what the position on the table looks
like and how I predict how the results are going
to go for the next week. And I may take
screenshots of those and send those through the group chat.
When people reply things like oh mate, it's really good
(01:00:26):
that you do the numbers for us. Do you reckon
that it's sarcastic or do you think.
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
They yeah, so they don't know. They don't want that kids,
or you don't want it, you don't need it. Okay,
if you've got multiple you don't need any more information.
And can I just say, when a coach sees thumbs
up to who's wants to come to practice this week,
do a goddamn thumbs up. Okay, don't answer it. Yeah,
Johnny will be there. He'll be there with bells on.
He's so excited about it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:46):
Read the question, Jerry and Mini the hold I key
breakfast been Tommy Funny.
Speaker 1 (01:00:52):
You'll remember him from those Chiefs teams won the back
to back titles.
Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
Yeah, and famously on YouTube clips that get played over
and over him folding people in half. He is one
hundred and fifty kg six foot tool prop.
Speaker 1 (01:01:05):
Yeah, arguably the largest human being to ever play rugby.
They is what they say. He's been notably absent from
super rugby scene for a while now. That's because he's
been over in France. Yeah, plying his trade. There will
always be a job for a man like Ben tummy Finner.
The props get paid so well over there.
Speaker 4 (01:01:21):
They love the big boys over there. That's the very
big focus on a front row weighing at least four
hundredg's combined.
Speaker 1 (01:01:27):
Yeah, well, it's a really unique skill set, you know,
those kind of guys don't just fall off trus.
Speaker 4 (01:01:32):
Yea, and they play different type of footy over in
that French league as well. They love just good old
grinding ten man rugby.
Speaker 1 (01:01:39):
But they love it. So his team Bordeaux they won
the is it the European.
Speaker 4 (01:01:44):
Cup European Cup against Leinster, which is.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
On his team. Big Ben has now been on a
four day bender ever since.
Speaker 4 (01:01:53):
And he hasn't changed his clothes, not once.
Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
So that and he's put it all on social media.
And this is what I love about social media is
just get a window into his life. Day one, there's
a video of him. He's on a e bike, one
of those electric bikes with the fat tires and it's
got the you know you can attach like a single
wheel prem to the back to put your baby in.
He's got one of those, and it's just got a
giant JBL speaker in it and he's been doing laps
(01:02:17):
of Bordeaux with that speaker and it. He goes to
the bike out on I think it was day two
of the bender, and turned a corner, capsized and at
a park card.
Speaker 4 (01:02:27):
He's still in his playing gear, isn't it. He's still exactly
how he left the field.
Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
So he's biking around with that thing on. And then
the next thing I see he's got the trophy and
there I think there's two trophies in there biking around
that there was a parade. It's just one of the
last bastions of being able to just go full hog wild.
Speaker 4 (01:02:43):
Yeah, if you win a world championship or a championship,
there is there is a window. There's a small window
where you can do whatever you like. You can behave
however you like, you can party because you've got given
that kind of red card to do it. Auckland def
C was a prime example. They went for two or
three days few the me had to go to the
World Cup, so they dropped out. That'll be like of
cam House and you know and Lucky Brook. I think
(01:03:04):
they're still going.
Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
You would hope that they're still going. My only concern
with the Aukland def seafellers is do they have the
same constitution as Big Ben Tummy Fune Camp. How well
do they go on day fight?
Speaker 4 (01:03:16):
I doubt it. And I once you win a world title,
you've got you do massively have a red card to
do whatever you want. And I mean recently the last
twa twenty World Cup, the White Funds became world champions,
but they had a tour immediately after the World Cup,
so they never got to actually party.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Well, they also won it in Dubai. Yes, it's famously
a dry state, although anyone who's been there, oh yeah, ain't.
Speaker 4 (01:03:38):
As wet as no. But so they never got a
chance to actually activate their championship winning red card. And
at the New Zealand Cricket Awards, I took it upon
myself to completely waterboard a group of White Funds to
tell them, tonight's the night. You guys have not behaved terribly.
You've got it. You've got a window where you can
do what if you want. You're world champions. You are
(01:03:59):
world champions. And I keep saying it over and over again.
I see so tonight for the next twenty phrase, you
can do whatever you want and no one's going to
judge you. And there was this Humbleweed came and came
through the group, and then the he's going to credit
PR guy came along Willy and just kind of kind
of kind of pushed them away. While I was ranting
about getting wasted.
Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
I reckon he would have pre warn them. Yeah, we
did gu lane back for the first time in ten years,
and so disgrace himself. Like whatever he says to you,
just ignore that devil on your shoulder.
Speaker 4 (01:04:26):
As they were walking anyway, I was just yelling, missed opportunity, brilliant.
Speaker 1 (01:04:32):
I think he's on day five. I need to check
in on his Instagram.
Speaker 4 (01:04:35):
See I still going, oh good on him. It's one
of the great one of the great.
Speaker 3 (01:04:40):
Jury in the night, the hold I keep breakfast.
Speaker 1 (01:04:43):
We're running through the dumbest stuff you've ever stolen? Off
to the p Harf fire truck being stolen and broad daylight.
Speaker 4 (01:04:49):
Yeah, eleven thirty in the morning and cruised all the
way to Mount Albert, that's thirty six kilometers away.
Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
Yeah. I often find that the Mexican ingredient in those
stories is usually drugs. Yeah, it's like, why would you do?
Oh ah oh I see. So we were asking for
your ticks and calls this morning about the dumbest stuff
you have ever stolen or seen stolen. Not a lot
of people willing to come on the radio and talk
about the stuff they.
Speaker 4 (01:05:13):
You can see why. I mean, apart from John from
Gore who stole a five foot cigarette.
Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Statute, of limitations for John from Gory stolen from these
to show in the late fifties a text through. Hey guys,
I nicked the massive piece of driftwood that they had
in the crocodile enclosure while it was outside when they
were doing the new National Aquarium in Napier. It got
stuck and had to get away with a four ward
drive to tow my car and trailer out. Are you
(01:05:36):
sure you guys aren't cops getting us to confess our crimes.
Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
That's a good point, as somebody else stole the police
map from the front floyer of the police station.
Speaker 1 (01:05:44):
That's they even put his name to it, John O.
Speaker 4 (01:05:46):
That's game, Johnno, yeah it is.
Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
Was it a party and a building on the far
side of an airport at around midnight? Someone arrived from
airside with a set of ear steers on the back
of a small truck. One of my mates had run
across the runway and nicked it from an unnamed airline.
The keys were in it. Not sure how whoever returned
it the next day explained what happened. I'm not sure
how they explained it.
Speaker 4 (01:06:08):
Someone here, this is this is next level. Someone's made
off with a red Badge security jacket when everyone was
distracted by a streak and so that is that smart
because if you hold onto that, that's you, that's your
green past, that's your green card and any.
Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
That's a brilliant Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:06:22):
If you're in a full red Badge tracksuit, y yeah,
then you just you can just wander in.
Speaker 1 (01:06:26):
I know there's been a spate of Bogans and who
go to Bali and they buy the so over in
Bali it's go Jick is the scooters that you rent
like an uber and they wear these bright green jackets.
You can see them. People steal them. I don't know
what you're gonna do with a Gojick jacket, Like it's
not getting you into Whispec Stadium. We allegedly nicked the
flight Center mannequin from central London back in the day,
(01:06:47):
paid a taxi drive a ten quid to bring him
back to our flat. We lived above a plastic surgery
and Harley Street at the time. We left him at
the front of the surgery. The staff ended up dressing
him up in surgery get up and he used to
greet all the women getting boot jobs. Named him Craig.
Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
Oh here you go back in you. I mean, Uni
days is probably your peak, isn't it peak thievery? Peak thievery,
because it's probably your peak drinking as well. Back in
the New days, we were on a red card and
Queen's Down and a flatmate got away with a pair
of revolvers off the wall from Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Hell you and this one here stole the sighing machine
from the pub and why and I just before they
banded smoking then the lad said, spear cash for weeks.
Speaker 10 (01:07:25):
I was playing covers. I just remembered this.
Speaker 9 (01:07:27):
I was playing a covers gig probably about fifteen twenty
years ago.
Speaker 10 (01:07:31):
It was at Alexandra Park. It was a really big event.
Speaker 9 (01:07:33):
There were a lot of people there and we were
just wrapping up for the day, a lot of people
heavily on the wheeze throughout the day, and some guy
just walked past and grabbed the guitarist guitar and absolutely
hoofed it and started running off with it.
Speaker 1 (01:07:46):
And we called out to security.
Speaker 9 (01:07:48):
We were like, oh, get that guy with the guitar,
and funnily enough, it was Mark Ellis and they did.
They did manage to get the guitar back off, and
he was just like hands up, He's like, all right,
you got me?
Speaker 4 (01:07:59):
Was he nude?
Speaker 10 (01:08:00):
No, but he had had a skinned.
Speaker 3 (01:08:02):
Jerry and Minn the Hdiarchy breakfast.
Speaker 1 (01:08:05):
Something has been brought to my attention then around you. Yes,
it was brought to my attention earlier this week on
the text machine.
Speaker 10 (01:08:11):
Yep, very defensive straight away.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
Well I am attacking him and.
Speaker 4 (01:08:17):
I can't tell the tone of your voice and the
way you do it. It has come to my attention.
Speaker 1 (01:08:20):
Passed off because it came to my attention a couple
of weeks ago that you are heading to the Grand Final,
the NRL Grand Final.
Speaker 4 (01:08:28):
Well, like, it's not just me tomorrow. We've got quite
a big announcement coming up to do with Export Ultra
and a beer garden tour, which could mean that potentially, no,
you might be coming also, Well, I got no issue
with that. And a bunch of Hodaki listeners and ACC
listeners also.
Speaker 1 (01:08:43):
And I got no issue with that either. But the
issue that was brought to my attention was Jesez, the
Warrior's going good this year?
Speaker 4 (01:08:48):
Aren't they? Almost Finals contender?
Speaker 12 (01:08:50):
Jeez?
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
That guing good this year? You know, We've we filmed
a thing the other day for the ACC. We interviewed
some of the Warriors biggest fans, and the common theme
among them was there is a bit of a swell. Yeah,
it feels a little like sort of two thousand and
twish feels confident. It's feeling pretty good. It's feeling pretty good.
The depth, the way we're winning, being able to eke
out all these different ones. Is it the craziest thing
(01:09:11):
to think that we might be in the Grand Final?
And if we are, you'll also be there. Now if
you've been living under rocks, this is your first time
listening to this station. There is a long and I
wouldn't say proud, but long, turgid history of Jilane attending
international sporting events to support New Zealand teams and them losing.
It's we're almost in the double digits now.
Speaker 8 (01:09:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09:33):
Look, I mean the most recent one. You were at
the World Cup Final just recently.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
Yeah, I mana bad Yeah to watch New Zealand get
pumped by India.
Speaker 1 (01:09:40):
Yeah you were there in twenty fifteen. Yep, when was
it Lord's when you're in the Bahamas in the nineties.
Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
Yeah, I was. I was in Yeah, I went to
the West Indies and we got knocked out. In the
semi final and I had to watch Australia play Sri
Lanka in the dark, and yeah it was that wasn't
good anyway. I mean, and I may or may not
have been in Melbourne to the twenty fifteen Cricket World
Cup as well.
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
So this is the concern. Yeah. Well, because we were
talking yesterday. The budget comes out today and somebody we said,
what do you want to see in the budget? Someone said,
can we put some money aside for the prevention of
Glane attending international sporting events? And to that inn could
the first Port of Core be the Grand Final if
the Warriors were to make it. I don't know how
(01:10:25):
I would feel if I was sitting next to you.
I think I might. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:10:30):
Well, here's the deal.
Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
I have to throw myself on the tracks.
Speaker 4 (01:10:32):
Here's a deal. Like Warriors are playing in christ Church
at Kaha on the twenty first of June against Cowboys.
We're going to be down there. We've got a big
pregame at the Richmond happening at mid day. It's four
o'clock kick off. I'm going to be there. Technically it's
me going support the Warriors away from home.
Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
Yes, that's right.
Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
So if they lose that game, I will not go
to the Grand Final. Wow. But if they win, here's
no curse with the Warriors. So I can go to
the Grand Final and you can sit next to me
comfortably at a Core stadium in October and we were
watching the Grand Final.
Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
Okay, a huge announcement tomorrow around this statuned on the
Hedeky brick.
Speaker 3 (01:11:05):
Dalien, what hasby and Lesbian The
Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
