Speaker 1 (00:00):
The hidache Breakfast. Bunning's trade. Have your internal fit out
on finished jobs, covered the.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Breakfast with cherry and then.
Speaker 1 (00:09):
Walk we along to the Hidachey breakfast. It's nice to
have your company this morning, even if it is a
little bit chilly. The third of July Friday, the third
of July. My name's Jeremy Wells. Is a nice stet.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
A little later into the studio this morning fellas because
I couldn't get the bloody frost off my windscreen this morning.
It was an absolute nightmare.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Bull crap.
Speaker 3 (00:26):
Yeah, I know it was that bloody solid. No amount
of no amount of windscreen wipe of floid would get
it off.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
There. You could have been the first person to ever
get a kettle out in Auckland and pour it over
your windscreen in Auckland's history.
Speaker 3 (00:39):
I might have been. Well, I wasn't because I didn't,
but I could in future.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
So do you just drive along leaning out the window?
Speaker 4 (00:45):
No?
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Well, I just got enough of a hole that I
could see through like a letter box, and then I
couldn't see behind me. But doesn't matter. I'm not going
that way. So yeah, I was an absolute hazard on
the motorway.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Oh jeez, well, nowadays with cars doing what they're doing
with all those safety although your Swift doesn't have it probably,
but most new cars of course I've got. You can't
change lanes. The cars won't change lanes.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
Oh my god, that's here. If I hate that, those sensors, you've.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Got to indicate and then it will let you. But
unless there's someone coming up your ass. My in laws,
it won't it.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
My in laws have got one of those ones where
it's got all the senses all over it and it'll
stop the car dead, scare the Jesus out of you
whenever it happens. They also have a willow tree that
goes over their driveway and one whisp of that willow
goes in front of a sensor ban gems of brakes
on you, heads off the dashboard.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
I've had a couple of ninety degree left hand or
right hand turns that I've had to take in the
in my car back in the day, and I've I've
gone to turn it and gone around it and it's
just gone and just stopped. It's like I'm not it's
not going anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
It's Yeah, I don't know how much to say, are
we look there's the robots again. Don't even give me started.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
I take it over. I don't worry about that.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
Jerry and Mini the hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Yeah. Sometimes you find something out you wander around, you're
keeping it under your hat. You've got some information that
you just can't wait to share it.
Speaker 7 (02:08):
Yeah, that was.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Me this morning. I've arrived and at work and I've
got some information that I just can't wait to share
some I believe our first in the certainly in my
time here at Radioheadecking.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
Yeah, never, I've never seen this happen before. It's something
that I've just observed when I arrived on here this morning.
And I think I think it's it's regional news. I
think I think people of this particular region are going
to be it's going to maybe change their days, It's
going to change this might even change the winter.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Jesus. Yeah, it's massive, this is huge. It's massive. I'm
kind of nervous for that region. They were just getting
about by themselves and now they're going to deal with this.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Well. I think you should be pleased for the region
because I think they've been battling it out, Yeah, for
a long time, and and and clearly. This says to
me that that maybe they been misunderstood and overlooked.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Okay, I know the feeling you're describing when you wake
up at the morning you're like, what.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Is it that?
Speaker 3 (03:06):
Have I bought her? Do I have like a new
car to No, it's not that. Have I gotten some
new clothes to wear or something like that? Oh no, no, no,
I've got a piece of information this year.
Speaker 1 (03:15):
Tell you. It's an our in our business. It's it's currency,
it's content. Is it's worth a lot that is making
up in the waking up in the morning, hopping into
the shower and and then just knowing that you have
got so I didn't know at the stage. By the way,
I woke up this morning, not knowing that I woke
up this morning actually looked at myself in the mirror
and I thought, wow, that is right, Hello, Rod Stewart.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
That's what Because you could run one hundred meters and
eighteen seconds that.
Speaker 7 (03:42):
It got on. Because I could beat.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
I beat Ruder in a one hundred meter I mean,
I don't know if I could be I think I
could beat Reader in No, that's because that I'm just showing. Yeah,
I woke up like I just stepped out of a salon. Wow,
yeah you did and asked for a Rod Stewart.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Yeah. I think I've got aunties that look like that.
It's quite something.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
So anyway, that's amazing piece of news that's going to
change everything. And so I woke up, came into work,
I opened up my computer. I just had a look
at the National Forecast map of course the met Service,
as I do every day, and I looked down and
I went, so, Che's Hamilton minus three through a one,
(04:27):
what's christ zero?
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Yeah, I'm going down.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
There, the subber Oh yeah, cool. But chrisp yep um
Blenham one, Master's and minus two, Aukland thoughts and breeze
four you're getting scraping your eyes off the one I
will rebuild fun and a six it's too cold for them.
And then I just glanced down into this central part
(04:55):
of New Zealand, down into the into the to the
to the of the two islands, to Ika Amawi and
Tiwa Pulnamu, and I saw Wellington in there. And it's
the first time in my life looking at a National
forecast map, that Wellington has ever had the highest temperature
(05:17):
on the highest Wow. Ten ten degrees, ten cheeks Kai
Tai suck on us.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Nine Wellington's well I never Wellington is the.
Speaker 1 (05:33):
Hottest place in New Zealand?
Speaker 7 (05:35):
Would you say it's the place to be?
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Absolutely? It's got a sun on the cloud.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
If you were to have a look around that map.
Is there anywhere that could beat it today?
Speaker 1 (05:44):
No? No, at the moment. Wow, I mean everybody else
is going to warm up more, but currently speak it
right the second at six fourteen and twenty four seconds,
Wellington is the warmest place in New Zealand by a margin.
But you're buy at least agree.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Yeah, that's crazy.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Isn't that insane?
Speaker 3 (06:02):
It is absolutely insane. I don't know if it's going
to change the trajectory of that region's entire winter.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
I think they should take a snap photo of this
and I don't know, put it out in the marketing
and the regional tourism market.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Moved to Sonny Wellington ten degrees on July third, Absolutely
positively ten degree Wellings an absolute stalker and the capital
this morning can't beat it on a cold day. He can't.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Jerry edmonnight the breakfast.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Did you see this arm defenders call out at Mount
Smart stadium. You don't have to call it go media
because it's not in relation to the Warriors. It's just
a stadium, so you can just call it Mount Smart.
By the way, I've always called it Mount Smart. I
jaz Ney still calls it ericson Stadium or does he?
Catering staff at an Auckland Stadium we just mentioned it
(06:49):
were accidentally caught up in an Armed Offenders Squad counter
terrorism training exercise with simulated gunfire. Now that is the
Armed Offenders Squad. No, not the They don't defend anything.
They are there to deal with people who are armed
and are also offending.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
But if you do think it's the Armed Defenders, you're okay.
Well you may have never seen it written in an
article untild Now, for example, I.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
Can kind of understand the thought process. They're there to
defend you with arms.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
The Armed Defenders, well, should.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Just change them to the Ministry of War. Police have
apologized for this unfortunate incident and promised support for any
effected stuff. There's one member who was very very affected.
Please say aos that's the Armed Offenders Squad started a
training exercise at mounts Matt Stadium last week twice encountered
a contract. They're from Ovation Hospitality as the catering company
(07:46):
there what as blank rounds were being fired in a
different part of the stadium.
Speaker 1 (07:51):
What do you mean twice encountered the same contract.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
So the man they come up. So they've sit up
in the stadium, right, and they're doing like a rehearsal.
So let's say there's something going on at the at
the at Mount Smart. Yeah, and there's some sort of
hostage situation.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Because if there's gonna be a situation, it's going to occur,
it's gonna be at Mount Smart.
Speaker 3 (08:10):
And so they go out there and they're running the
you know, clearing rooms, running through and conceivably because I've
been part of these for like the Volunteer Fire Brigade before,
you would think everyone in the stadium has been told, hey,
this is what's going on. Don't be in here. So
if you're in the Defender squad, you're going, well, if
anyone's in here, that part of the exercise, because they
(08:32):
do have like actors in there, yep, and they might
be a suspect or whatever. No, this guy was just
from the catering thing and he was like lost or whatever.
He's walking around and they're running around on one side,
so like they say, in the north stand, there's live
gunfire going off. What And I would have just been
a holy shit, what the hell's happening here? And then
he turns around and all of a sudden he comes
to swats look the ground.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
This is the most you know, they do fire drills,
and they explain to you that this is going to
be a drill. We'll do it to touch your time. Yeah,
and I mean, who cares? But in this situation, you
genuinely do need to know. You need to everybody aware
in the vicinity of like a kilometer.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
Wouldn't you if you're going to be shooting guns?
Speaker 1 (09:11):
I thought.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
So, there's a thing on a building. It's either called
ram set gun. I'm pretty sure it's called it, and
it drives a bolt into congrete and you've got to
let everyone on site know if you're going to fire
one of those, and then you're gonna go. But yet
you don't have to tell everyone when you go into
Mount Smart and start shooting guns. So apparently he was
challenged and told to put his hands up in the air,
(09:34):
like yeah, the second time, what.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Happened to the first time?
Speaker 3 (09:38):
He was shot in the head. When asked whether the
man was forced to the ground at gunpoint, and police
spokesman said they couldn't substantiate that and declined to comment.
So they were years At some stage during the excise.
This is a quote, there was some uncertainty concerning a
kitchen area in the stadium. Subsequently, there was an unexpected
interaction with a contractor in that area of the operation.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
Get Away from the pies, Get Away from.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
The pies, Get Away from the pies that pay. Initially,
AOIS staff believed he was a role player and part
of the training exercise. The exercise was live at this
point and blank rounds were being fired straight on the
side of his head. Sorry in a different part of
the stadium. Staff told the man to go to an
exit point, while also using a hand to guide him
towards that point. At no point was anyone injured. That
(10:20):
is terrifying. I've told you guys about the time. Like
I said, we used to do this with the Volunteer
Fibrigade in Waymty. We did in a theater and the
firebrigade were coming through. I was lying in the wings
of the theater. The guy was shuffling his feet as
he walked off the stage into the wings, booted me
right in the head. I was like, ah, and then
he goes, you're supposed to be I was like all right,
(10:43):
And then he got it bent over to pick me up,
and as he bent over the spit velven. His respirator
released and just a gallon of spur just all over
my face. And I was like, nah, I'm out. I
don't care anymore.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
I want.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
You ruined the whole exercise.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
Yeah. I wasn't decided to get kicked and sped on it.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Oh, I know that exact thing with the respirator in this.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
But.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
You're supposed to be a conscious to say that's nice.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Did you get paid for that?
Speaker 3 (11:18):
Nothing? Nothing?
Speaker 1 (11:20):
How do you volunteer for this? I didn't.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Matt's dead volunteered you come down here.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
Jerry and the night the Holdarcky breakfast.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Time you later sport headlines to export Ultra the beer
for here. All Blacks coach Dave Rennie has emphasized the
need to keep combinations together and juggling. His first test
side when he's opted to bring the Hurricanes front row
combo of a suf My Tyrell Lomax and the uncapped
Savior No Miir off the bench against France tomorrow. But
(11:52):
he says there's no Springboks bomb squad style theory.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
There can I can? I as now I poured over
this teamless yesterday. Is now a good time to go
through and see how close I got with my crystal ball.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Sure, go through.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
I was off on. I mean, who cares about the props?
Who even knows that they do? Then I was off on.
I thought Anton Signal was going to get a run.
At least that's what my crystal ball was telling me.
I don't think anybody saw Damien McKenzie at fallback. And
then Will Jordan on the wing.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Did you get Sam Derry? I did not get.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Sam Dearry and I did not get Sam Derry. And
I had for you on and off for starting, but
he will be coming off the bench. I can understand
the you know you've got Will Jordan, got Damien McKenzie,
Jordy Barrett, Ruben Love. Those are four players that can
all play fullback, so you don't need to carry a
fallback on the bench. I also had Anton Lennart Brown
on the bench. Well, at least the crystal ball revealed
(12:44):
to me. But I was all at sea.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
Yes, you were unusually.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Unusual, you know, to have other sources. It's a sliding
doors sort of thing. You know. There's a lot of
different things that can happen. As the fates weave there,
we've there. Yeah, whatever with their fates, the fates, the faiths,
with their fates. A lot of things can change. But
I think as the All Black's international window goes on,
(13:11):
I have faith in the Crystal Border.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
Really dial it in chip Gananci Racing has confirmed the
departure of Sir Scott Dixon at the conclusion of this
year's IndyCar season, ahead of his expected move to Arrow.
McLaren and twenty ten champions Spain meet Austria in the
first of today's three Football World Cup Round of thirty
two matches. Kickoff is at seven am.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
I'm really enjoying this part of the World Cup. Every
day someone gets knocked out. It's brilliant.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Oh so good. And just a little update on Wellington.
Still the highest temperature in New Zealand degrees ten degrees.
It's still the warmest, still beating Kai Tai by one.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Jerry and Minnie.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
The Hotarchy breakfast.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
So in Sweden they've got an su with siggy butts
lying around on the streets.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Very European, isn't it. They smoked diaries everywhere in Europe.
I was at a at a cafe in Europe and
the fellow come out after we'd finished eating, and he said,
is there anything else you'd like? And I said, naked?
Is you want dessert? No? I guess a cigarette perhaps.
I was like, yeah, can you do that? He's like,
(14:23):
we wanted to And then he came back out and
he gave me a gave me a ciggi out of
his own pocket. Wow, let it for me. That felt
weird wow, because there was a slight breeze so he
had to cup the side of my cheek to light
a cigarette for me. And then we walked away and
I said thank you, And then Lane goes, did you
not tip that guy?
Speaker 6 (14:44):
Ah?
Speaker 3 (14:46):
Familiar with the culture?
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Culture exited out of the tartis and I realized that
you were doctor who. Wow, you've gone back in time
to the nineteen seventies. It seems that.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
Was crazy because I was like, I feel like you
gish shot on the spot in New Zealand for that
if you were a waiter offering a punder a siggi.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
We certainly wouldn't be offering a siki for free. I
mean they are about one hundred and fifty bucks a
pin of cigarettes have.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Four cents over there in Europe, so I can see
what they would have. Sigibuts everywhere.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yeah, sigibuts. So instead of hiring people to pack up
the siggi butts. One of the most common types of
letter over there a startup called Corved, not to be
confused with covid. No, well, there's an R in the
middle of it. Corvid. They've created a machine that rewards
crows with peanuts whenever they bring back a.
Speaker 3 (15:35):
Cigarette butt, so versus genius.
Speaker 1 (15:37):
So, crows are bloody smart. Crows are very smart.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
You would have all seen those videos that get servety
of them trying to figure out how to get like
a bottle cap out of a little machine or something,
and they know that if you do this then that
will come out blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
Yeah, So when the crow drops a cigarette butt into
a slot that this camera on the machine there verifies
the object, and then the machine dispenses a peanut as
a reward.
Speaker 3 (15:58):
And this is genius.
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Then they love it and they've they've cotton onto it
really quickly. In fact, so far it's only been going
for a little bit of time, but they've they've put
one hundred and twenty four cigarette butts in there.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Okay, I was sort of hoping for more than one
hundred and twenty four.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
It's only just started. Okay, once the crows start teaching
other crows, this is how it works. Yeah, God knows
how that works, but somehow it works that way.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
Yeah, but this is absolutely brilliant. The problem is we
don't have crows. We only got dumb birds. Could you
teach a pigeon to do that? Probably not.
Speaker 5 (16:28):
No.
Speaker 8 (16:29):
If I was wandering around Sweden and I'm hungry, can
I pick up a cigarette but put it in the
machine and get myself a peanut?
Speaker 3 (16:34):
God, you would too, You actually would. I could see
Jesus starving. Could go one singular peanut? Here. Let me
pick up this bove out of an astra, and then.
Speaker 1 (16:43):
Can I lick the astra? Yeah, I put my finger
around and lock it. That will be you rude of it.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
Jerry and Leni, the Hdarchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the
nice to it the Darkey Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
We've got a haircut the other day, thanks for noticing.
And my barber, Adam, he showed me a photo. He gays, oh,
you looked for Radio Hadak You dn't, You said, yeah,
he said he have a look at this. This is
the T shirt that my dad got from a competition
he entered back and I believe it was the eighties.
The t shirt says Fondle of Ford Auckland's Great Fun
(17:17):
Contest is back Radio Haeraki. Tune into only to fourteen
seventy six Killer Hurts now for your chance to win.
And I said, will your man talk about the competition?
He said, yep, he would. He gave us his phone
number and he joins us on the show. Now, good morning, Doug,
Thanks very much for your time this morning. Talk us
through the Fondle of Ford promo. How did you hear
(17:39):
about that?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Yeah, well, I've always been an avid morning guy, by
the way, Jerry in Midnight Good morning.
Speaker 3 (17:45):
Dad.
Speaker 4 (17:46):
Always been an avid hirickie guy. Right back when I
was thirteen and the old man took me down to
the wall and they were trying to get out by ducks.
Oh really, And then I've you know, Kevin black came
on here. But it was during when John Hawksby was
on the show, and I was on a week's holiday,
and I said to my partner at the time, I'm
going to have to go getting into this competition. You
had to be the ninth caller every time they played
(18:08):
a car's song. And I tried for a few days,
and on the Thursday morning, the phone went through with
the old landline days, you know, and just rang and
rang and rang and rang, and I was just about
to hang up and John came on and said, congratulations
to the ninth caller. So for that you got a
sixty dollars won a sixty dollar car ket. And then
they sent out an indemnity form which you had to
(18:29):
fill out a medical thing and say who you're going
to do the competition with. And we were down at
Hahe at the ambulance and John Orphan Amla's wealthy a
batch for four days and they over a month they
had four hundred, I mean three hundred contestants, and Blackie
threw twenty names out of a hat and down there
(18:49):
their reception wasn't good in those days, but had the
radio turns on and we were nunder sixteen to be
called out, so head and out of readissess, I ran
up the road and rang my mom from the phone.
By an audience, she made a hierarchy and.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
The okuess, so what did you actually have to what
did you actually have to do? So you were you
were chosen to clean a car?
Speaker 4 (19:12):
No, no, no, They picked twenty people and you'd already
signed up. So twenty couples turned up on a Saturday
morning at South aub and Ford with a car promotion
and there was a brand new eighty nine femnth gear
with all the fruit on a big carpeted round rotating turntable.
(19:34):
Seven o'clock we turned up. They did a bit of
a briefing and then eight o'clock competition started. So you
had to have one hand on the car time, couldn't
touch your partner at all. During the competition. They had
the rotary there they're up on the mezzanine floor. There
was four people watching like hawks, and make sure you
didn't take your hand off. The rules were hand on
the car every two hours. They'd count you down on
(19:56):
the big clock and you could have a toilet break.
Blah blah blah. So they supplied all the food. But
we we made a bit of a plan. I said
to Glorious, we're not going to eat the soft drink
and the food. One will bring out homemade soup, and
Lucas aid, we'll all be sunglasses the whole time because
(20:16):
in the showroom so hundreds of people there. But anyway,
so the first time they talked us down at ten o'clock,
said to Glory, there's a couple of people missing. Anyway,
they come wandering back after the clock during ten minutes,
and the guy said, right, you're out. People realizing it
was a serious competition, and there were a couple of
people that had been in the previous competition two years
(20:37):
prior when they gave away a nineteen sixty three I
believe mark one board ten thousand dollars then. Anyway, so
we just carried on and the time went on, and
I hadn't been long out of the bath service, and
got all the mates to come along at sort of
four and five in the morning, when you're at the
most tired. But the first couple of days it was
(21:00):
a couple of people dropped out a.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Couple of days, so you just have to keep your
hand on the car though. That was that was the competition.
You had to keep touching it.
Speaker 3 (21:09):
How long did you go for it?
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Well, I think in the end it was about eighty
four eighty eight hours something like that. But over the
third day we got down to about four couples, and
then the beginning of the fourth day there was two
couples left and we had started the bank of the car.
They are the young couple at the front of the car,
and Gloria had got pretty tired. We're getting a bit
(21:32):
disorientated then, anyway, I said to the organizer, and she
put her hand through the car because she was really tired,
because I think we've got a pretty good idea and
we might get this. So she put her hand through
the mag wheel and the laid down and went to sleep.
So she always had a hand on the car.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
Oh.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
And then the young couple at the front. It was
quite sad actually, because she was short like Gloria, but
he was about six or six and he was kneeling
at the front of the car rocking, and I thought,
I don't think he's going to fall off or go
to sleep, will he? She put her hand up to
catch him. But there was a few things happened during
the competition that you don't do at home, you know,
Like I said, we we had a plan, never wanted
(22:13):
to eat. A lot of people were eating on the car,
you know. But these two brothers, I've sort of looked
at them and thought they're a good competition, those guys.
But one of them. You know, if you're at home
and shag pel carpet and you'd a put a cake
and your drop it, what do you do? You put
your hand, you know, you pick it up. Well, he
took his hand off and picked it up.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
He would have been doing And the time you get
to three days, you're not thinking.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
You know, you know, I think you're probably not even
saying straight. What did you do with the car?
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Dog?
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Well, we picked it up on the a few days
over when I talked all the sign riding off and
I said to God, this is a chance. So we
bought a section half section, and Papatali with the car.
I wouldn't let anyone drive it because we were actually
renting in Angry at the time, and I thought, my luck,
someone will hitch up and they go for a test drive.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
So he sold it, put a deposit on a house.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
We bought a section with the money for the car
those days, it was I thought it were. Then we
bought a little build a little kid set house. So
that was our start.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
In amazing that. Firstly you could buy a section in
a house by selling car in those days.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
So they got a half site. You know, you could
buy half a site for about twenty eight thirty thousand.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Yeah, I've just looked them up on trade me. Now
they're selling them for his cheap is sixteen grand these days,
the eighty nine fimont So you got a good deal, Doug.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
No, there's a good car. That was a good car.
I mean that was what they used to drive the
Prime Minister around him back in the day in eighty nine.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
Well, and like.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Hicky, you know, there was a big advertising thing for
their man. They sold sixty sixty two cars over that
four days.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
At different times.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Get Prek's number one. You know, as young fellows in
those days, there was nothing else like NDBC and all that.
You just broke them old and those guys.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Oh good on your Doug, thank you so much for
thanks so much for your story. We love that and
stoke the radio headache. It could be the be the
start I guess of you being able to go and
buy a house and then start a family that way.
Speaker 2 (24:19):
Jerry and Midnight the hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Saying before Every now and then you get a notification
on your Facebook app. It's a wretched riched application.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Why is the Facebook app? Is that an app that's
not your Facebook? Facebook's not a book your face.
Speaker 3 (24:40):
You're going to pretend you don't know what Facebook is
that we're doing it. You've never heard of Facebook. Every
now and then it splits up a memory from a
few years ago, and it's always just the worst possible
photo of yourself that you've ever seen before, and it
makes it go, oh my god, I don't delete this thing.
This is this is career inhibiting. I can see what
you and have it actually, Oh it's awful.
Speaker 1 (25:02):
I don't want to I don't want to look back.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
No no, no, no, no no. We actually sat out in the
office a couple of years ago and we went through
everyone's photos on their Facebook pages, and three of the
people deactivated their accounts after that. There we go, Yeah,
there's no need for it. We didn't know when Facebook
came out about digital footprint, we didn't know that it
has you know lasting implications that prospective employers would would
(25:25):
be able to look it up and go, why are
you dressed like a soldier on the other side of
the war in nineteen forty five?
Speaker 1 (25:32):
Yeah, I mean I can only think if you've got children,
maybe and you might look back at times when the
kids were little, maybe it could be positive in answer.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
That's what it was for, I think initially, but that's
not what it's become anyway. It spat one up to
me yesterday and it seid and it was I had
uploaded a status this is what you did back in
the day. You just type in a little what you're
up to? July twenty eleven, had a ridiculous night OCP.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
It's on the on the per okay, twenty eleven. So fifteen,
you were what you were? You were nineteen? Yeah, nineteen nineteen, Okay,
you're nineteen, right, heaven, that's a week. Oh my god,
I'm like, my god, nineteen. This is embarrassing.
Speaker 3 (26:18):
This is why I don't have any tattoos, because nineteen
year old me was an absolute idiot. I would not
let that guy tattoo me now, so I at the
presence of mine, not too the anyway, twenty eleven and
nice had a ridiculous night OTP with Michael Spurtle, George Reed,
Tristan Woodward. You won't know any of those nimes and
they will living to Maorcia James, So I gotta say,
yeah Spurtle, ready, tready, they were all the and and
(26:42):
you will know this name, Dylan Boucher.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
So he was part of your friend group when you
were nineteen. No, Dylan Boucher, he was it.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
But if I look up.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
The basketball of Dylan Boucher.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Yes, that's right, twenty eleven on and.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
Awake is great.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
What day that was? It was a Friday and we
had gone down at that time and timorrow there were
like five or six nightclubs. What yeah, yeah it was clubs.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Yeah, there were. It was one called the Ace of Spades.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
No, there was Monkey Bar and Melbour's. A jeez, I
can't even remember the rest of it, but I think
the one that we're at was Melbour's. And we walked
in there and sitting at the bar by himself was
Dylan Boucher, and we were it's.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
Not a good day for sitting by yourself at a
nightclub drinking and on a Friday.
Speaker 7 (27:34):
Night and didn't comes and incomes.
Speaker 3 (27:37):
It couldn't have been any worse for him because we
were like the like Spurtle genuinely lived across the road
from the basketball courts. We'd go around to his place
and play NBA two K on the PlayStation, and then
we'd go and shoot hoops. We were the basketball heads.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
This is Michael Spurtle.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
This is Michael Spurtle. Yeah, I forgot his first name
was Michael. Anyway, we walked let's all get sent to him,
I'm sure, get our spirits. And we walked down and
just saw Dylan and we're just like, oh my god,
Like it's like walking in and seeing Michael Jordan. It
was a be like if you walked in and saw
Richard Hadley.
Speaker 7 (28:07):
That's hard to miss as well.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
Hard to miss. Yeah, that's right, And yeah he was
once was sat there for ages. Go oh my god.
Still still should see that alone. Then we went over
there and punished them and tried buying them shots and stuff.
I can't remember if he was too keen on that,
but well, the other thing he let us buy my beer.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Twenty eleven, Like data on phones wasn't the same, like
so twenty eleven, I'm not sure whether you could dial
up like videos and things like that. So he was
probably just by himself. Those are the days when used
to go places without phones. Oh yeah, well you have
a phone, but you just sit there and you just
look around.
Speaker 3 (28:45):
Like as the nineties.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
Yeah, like exactly like you looked around. Nobody looks around anymore.
Speaker 3 (28:50):
And then because it was twenty eleven, there would have
been no app. I would have had to gone back.
I would have had to go back to a desktop
computer somewhere to upload that. Stand still, let everyone know
that I was having a couple of beers with Dylan Boucher, wow,
against his will. So yeah, that was I don't think
you'll have any memory of that, but it would be
interesting to check.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
If only we could get hold of Dylan Boucher. I'm
sure he's got a tale of that night Friday night
and Timado drink him by yourself at a nightclub.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
Jerry in the night the Hodarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
It's academic. Oh eight hundred headache, I eight hundred forty
eight seventy five, give us a call. Now we've got
a four hundred dollars Bunnings vouch up for grabs.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
This would be the second highest amount we've ever given
away four fifty, I believe the highest.
Speaker 8 (29:33):
I think it got five hundred once you're joking with
the and then the Big Show came in and did
our show for a day and gave it away.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
Now we never gave it away.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
No, So that's the highest for us.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Okay, you just need to answer five questions. He's got
to get three correct to win the four hundred dollar
Bunnings voucher. Let's go to Kim from Auckland. Morning kid,
welcome to the show. More than colors are the going,
good kid? What school did you go to?
Speaker 9 (29:59):
I was homeschool actually, okay, okay.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
The school of home.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
I'm just scrolling through the roll of honor now I
can't see your house on there.
Speaker 8 (30:06):
Any famous alumni from your homeschool?
Speaker 10 (30:10):
I do you have a brother who played in the
foot White?
Speaker 7 (30:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (30:13):

Speaker 10 (30:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Okay, okay, okay, Well soon to be you as well, keV.
You might get your your foot on the fridge or.
Speaker 7 (30:22):
Something, hopefully.
Speaker 5 (30:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (30:23):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
So who who schooled you mainly at home? keV?
Speaker 9 (30:29):
That'll be mum, Yeah, legion.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
What was her specialist subject?
Speaker 9 (30:34):
Oh, it's just pretty good at maths.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Okay, got me through some tough times there. Yes, what
was she like in social studies? Uh? Not not so
good with the social studies, But.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
All right, I am just I'm just penciling in Kiv's
house into the academic role of honor.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
No pressure.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
That'll be each down if you are able to answer
three out of these next questions correctly.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
KeV four hundred dollars bunny vouchers up for grabs keV.
Question number one, what is the capital of the Philippines?
Speaker 5 (31:10):
Manila?
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Good start? Which planet is fifth from our son?
Speaker 5 (31:18):
Uh? Urina?
Speaker 1 (31:20):
No, it's stupid. Name the head coach of the nineteen
eighty seven World Cup winning All Black team.
Speaker 9 (31:27):
Oh Ode.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
Okay, you got to get these two who released their
debut studio album Born to Do It in two thousand.
It was Craig David. You can't do it. You can't
do it. Come on, blame your mum, Cavin. I not
normally blame ruder, but I'm going to blame Kiv's mum.
Speaker 9 (31:48):
I wasn't even born in eighty seven.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
It's a good point.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
Do you want even born in the eighties?
Speaker 3 (31:54):
Are you interested in the last question at all?
Speaker 7 (31:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Who played doctor Spock in the original Start Trick series.
Speaker 7 (32:01):
He's not going to know that, isn't he doctor pointy years?
Speaker 4 (32:07):
It was.
Speaker 1 (32:09):
Yeah, anymore Great New Zealand.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
I didn't know that too hard, you reckon, Yeah, that
was pretty tough.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Tough. It's good news for someone. On Monday bought four
hundred and fifty dollars worth of Bunnings, berches up for
grabs and scrub kids house off the.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Roll of Honor, Jerry and Midnight, The Hotarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Daily bespoke content that you won't find on the radio
show The Darchy Breakfast Podcast.
Speaker 7 (32:36):
It's the.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Great may that disgusting you on the last day of
term and night Yeah, well it was.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
The last day term. So I've done it. I just
left throw up on the mic.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Previously, on the Friday Top five, we've looked at beaches, rivers,
among boats, bushes, dogs, fruit. Is there anything we haven't
done Jerry's lanes, Murray's fonts, cracks.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
There is one thing we haven't done. That's steering us
right in the face. This morning, off the back of
meeting a man by this moniker, I reckon today we
need to go through Top five.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Ian's okay, so you're talking about Ian from Sam's Butchery
and Silverdale. Ian, also known as the Oracle.
Speaker 5 (33:19):
Don't rush the process. Time is natural, so let it,
let us take its natural course.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
So Ian came in So Sam's Butchery won the prestigious
Ham of the Year at the Ham and Bacon Awards
at the other day, and we talked to him on
the show. I from Sam's Butchery, just behind King's Plant
bart and Silverdale there and just some of the advice
that he had around making Ham inside the hemisphere that
(33:51):
just applies to all aspects of life. It was almost poetic.
And there's been calls for him to get a regulars
slot on the show. I think it will work on that.
But in the meantime Top five Ian's This Morning.
Speaker 1 (34:03):
You just have a listening again to Ian and there's
a bit where he there's a noise that he makes
where he contemplates and it's so deep. It's some of
the deepest contemplation I think I've ever heard on radio.
Speaker 5 (34:15):
Don't rush the process, do it gradually like most things,
don't rush them at time prevail. At time be the
answer to it all.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
I'll tell you what, Let time prevail. Let time be
the answer to it all because time stops for no
person put it on a T shirt, and that is
one thing we are all. Time will get us all.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Somebody did text it and so can we get some
N related merch your T shirts, your caps with quotes
from Inn on it like this.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
It depends on your taste and depends on what you've
done for years. If you like what you've done for years,
stick work.
Speaker 3 (34:57):
So wise, you would not if I played your bit
of a asked you what he was talking about, you
would not be able to tell me.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
You would not be able to know that he's talking
about a handbag putting you on. So anyway, this morning
we're looking for the top five. Ian's three for eight three.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Oh wait, Hodaki, can I give you one straight off
to my favorite and Ian McKellen. That's Sir Ian McKellen.
To those of you playing at home, Gandalf, Great New Zealand,
Great New Zealander. He's got to be in the top
five for me.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
I've heard some great Sir McKellen's stories. There's one at
Buckingham Palace where he was dancing I think with Dame
Judy Dinch and they danced around. They were at the ballroom,
and Buckingham Palace, and they danced around and there was
a throne. They danced their way backstage and behind this
curtain was a throne.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Really.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Ian and Dame Judy Nich were like, should we what
do you reckon? And then so said absolutely we good
and so they both sat on the throne that was
Queen Elizabeth Thron just happened.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
That's incredible. Can I also throw Ian Fleming at you?
Writer of James Bond?
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Yea worked?
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Did work as a spy, didn't he did? He is
where he got the idea in World War Two?
Speaker 3 (36:12):
Okay, Ian right, the UK footballer.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
I see your Ian right, and I raise you, beefy sir,
Ian both Lord, I believe lord both yeah, Lord, both
of them.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Okay Lord, I see your Lord in both of them,
and I raise you. And Stockley Smith Smithy.
Speaker 1 (36:36):
I don't believe he is a sir at this stage.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
Services to services, services to getting his windscreen smashed by
a six while he's commentating.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Services to commentary is what I was going to say,
d not what you thought I was going to say
at all.
Speaker 3 (36:51):
Give us a tax three four eight three, I'll give
us a call one hundred harduck Jess. If you're if
your name is and you'd like to check yourself in
the drawer, then go for it. Give us a call.
Speaker 1 (36:59):
We're accepting all spell.
Speaker 6 (37:01):
Jerry and Mini for the hold Ikey breakfast.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
It's the today we're looking for the top five. Ian's
off the back of Ian from Sam's Butchery and Silver
Oar just passed the King's Plant Barn.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
There.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
If you're in King's Plant Barn, if you find yourself
and amongst the plants, you've gone too far, go back,
turn left and go back to Sam's Butchery. They do
an amazing ham on the bone. In fact, it's the
award winning ham on the barn.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
In fact, nobody does it better. Alj Hog you're the one.
Speaker 6 (37:29):
Ah.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
So we're compiling the top five ends this morning on Friday.
Text through my dog, Ian nine year old border Taria
legend a bit of a pest at times.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
I don't know how many votes Ian, the nine year
old board to Tarry is going to get. But great name.
Speaker 3 (37:42):
It's more than zero.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
Screw me out.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
Ian at the dog park.
Speaker 3 (37:48):
Well, this is the thing when when we were looking
into getting a dog, we're going to call it Spice Guru.
But that was veto by my missus. She's like, what
do you can do? Go down a dog park and
yell at spice guru, like Spice the guru of spice.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Yeah, I agree. I feel like my next dog is
going to be called fugly. Yep, that's what I've worked out.
Either that or doctor Ropata.
Speaker 3 (38:08):
I like that.
Speaker 1 (38:08):
Those are my two options.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
I like that. Another vote for that guy's dog. In fact, you, Jerry,
I think you mean Baron BF Botham. Now he's been upsided.
That's from Andrew from Naps Andrew Really yeah, I knew
he was lord.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
But oh wow, okay, landing gentry.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
How about this Ian Anderson aka Jethrow Tull.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
Actual real name is Ian.
Speaker 3 (38:32):
Yes, Ian Kirkpatrick from the good old days when you
used to win line out ball by punching the opposition.
Speaker 1 (38:37):
Well, Ian Kirkpatrick famously, I mean a great all black
line side flank or was he open side flanker anyway,
great all black and he was famously called up. He
was on the farm and got called up after he'd retired,
I believe, for an all black test and just wrote
a note on the on the on the counterbench and said,
gone to play for the All Blacks and Wellington see
(38:59):
you one day to his wife?
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Is that not every man in New Zealand's dream? So
I was just working an honest day on the farm.
Had to duck out and play.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
For the for the Blacks and I'll see you on Monday.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
In fact, that's what I'm gonna tell my kids. I did.
And Kirkpatrick the greg or Ian Calendar, Sorry the greg
or Ian Calendar.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
I see what's happening there with the Gregorian.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
A lot of love coming through for sir Ian Jones.
Speaker 1 (39:27):
Great is he?
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Literally?
Speaker 1 (39:31):
Yeah, I've got to say.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
And can I say great room protector?
Speaker 1 (39:36):
Sorry?
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Great room protector? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Well does he sell room protectors?
Speaker 5 (39:41):
Well?
Speaker 3 (39:42):
I applied a bit of pressure on his room. We
were playing. We were playing one on one basketball and
he blocked my shot.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Thank god for that.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
Hit me with your rhythm, stick Ian, deary.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
Get me?
Speaker 1 (40:01):
Does this good?
Speaker 10 (40:02):
Said me?
Speaker 7 (40:05):
Not for me?
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Dars has got a fantastic hasn't that two languages there?
That's French end Deutsch.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Bigs from adamata An Milligan dead of me? Rop have
we done?
Speaker 1 (40:16):
He and O'Brien and I that we haven't a black
cat bowler much maligned, very much forgotten.
Speaker 8 (40:23):
No, we haven't speaking of maligned in the news this
week in Stables has he been mentioned?
Speaker 1 (40:28):
Oh may you know? We Well, I am only here
because of Ian Stables, of course, because he was dead. No,
he's not my dad. He's looking more and more like Shrek,
I have to say. But I saw that picture of him.
But he was, of course going to do the radio Hodechi.
This is an old story. But he's going to do
(40:48):
the Radiohdicky drive show, and he was on his way
to do it on the Sunday night. He was on
his way to Auckland and he was at the airport
and had a run in with the Jetstar employee at
the counter, ended up in an altercation for car and
said some things he shouldn't have said. Ended up physical altercation,
(41:09):
I believe, and then was fired on the Monday before
he actually even did his drive show that afternoon. Then
Matt Heath was hired as his replacement, and then I
started I was friends with Matt Heath and Heath. Then
I started working Radiohadicky, and then Matt Heath and I
worked did the radio show to get.
Speaker 3 (41:26):
It, and Matt Heath left and then now I'm and.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
Now you're here. So it's only thanks to Ian stables
that we all are here. Ruder, different story, shout out
to her. All right, keep it text timing through. I've
got to be honest with you guys. The way it's
going because all we do is we count the votes
that comes through.
Speaker 3 (41:40):
On three four A three. That dog's looking like it's
going to win. So if you want to stop that,
then send through your votes. Top five. Ian's up next,
Ian Noon.
Speaker 2 (41:50):
Jerry and Mini the hold ikey breakfast.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
It's the today we're celebrating. Ian's looking for the top
five Ians.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
A million of them have come through. There is a
prohibitive favorite and I think it may surprise you this morning. Again,
all we're doing here is we're counting your votes. That
don't come at us when you find out that the
person you voted for wasn't in the top five, because
we are just counting. We are but humble servants of
the text machine.
Speaker 1 (42:20):
All right, let's count down the top five Ians.
Speaker 3 (42:23):
Sir Ian McKellen of Gandalf and dancing with Dame Judy
Denshel the right of the Throne of Queen Elizabeth the
Second's House Fame.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
Great New Zealand. It was a huge fan of New Zealand,
obviously coming over here to shoot all of the Lord
of the Rings films. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
Also, had you heard of Ann McKellen before Game of Thrones.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
No, I've sort of seen him a bit.
Speaker 3 (42:47):
It just it sort of fills me with confidence that,
you know, because he would have been in the sixties
when that come out. Yeah, loved a half a T shirt.
Loved a half a T shirt. You know, it may
happen for me yet, is what I'm getting at there.
It may take until I'm sixty that it may have
him for me yet. That's number five. Number four, certain
Kirkpatrick from the good old days when you used to
win lineout ball by punching the opposition.
Speaker 1 (43:09):
Hard bastard, half bastard, great with ball in hand.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
Don't make him like that anymore.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Real pace apparently very very good at the beep test.
Oh really, Yeah, I hate the beef test pre beep test.
I mean, nobody had a beat test in those days,
but he would have been great.
Speaker 3 (43:23):
Number three notorious pantsman Ian Ferguson, decorated Olympian and operated
the Honker on Top Town in the late addies.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
He dad he operated the airhorn? Is he a serrus?
But are these as I feel like he should be
services He's NB. He's an NB. I mean most second
most decorated Olympian of all time behind Dame Lisa.
Speaker 3 (43:47):
Is that a right?
Speaker 1 (43:48):
I'm pretty sure he's Yeah. I mean, handsome, handsome man.
Speaker 3 (43:53):
Incredible Number two Ian from Sam's Butchery and Silverdale there.
If you hit the King's plant Barn, you've gone too far.
Speaker 5 (44:00):
It depends on your taste and depends on what you've
done for years. If you like what you've done for years,
to burn.
Speaker 1 (44:10):
Goobin philosopher, keep that man a voiceover job.
Speaker 3 (44:13):
We've got to get him back on. And I know
that there's going to be a lot of people out
there who are thinking, you know what this whole top
five was? Because we met En this week, You talked
to En on seven sharp last night. How could he
not be number one? What would it take to dethrone
Ian from the top five ends? I'll tell you now.
Number one one my dog, Ian nine year old border
(44:34):
Taria legiond but a bit of a pist at times.
So many votes it was an absolute landslide, and I
think it was in reaction to us saying, well, who
the hell's going to vote for? End that guy's dog
in Ian the dog and the Dog. I also vote
in the dog. I also vote for that guy's dog
in got.
Speaker 1 (44:49):
A great name. I've got to say Ian for a
border Tarier. I can see Ian right now, Border Tierria
is with that wiry coat, so the little face.
Speaker 3 (44:56):
So these are you? Top five's Ian McKellen and Kirkpatrick
and Ferguson and from Sam's Butcher and that Guy's Dog
in Jerry and the Night the Hoarchy Breakfast, Jerryan and
I are joined the complayt the Hodaki Breakfast discussion group
on Facebook.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
For more, you would have seen the story about the
couple who scaled the Empire State Building for a bit
of a high level proposal.
Speaker 7 (45:19):
Yeah high level. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
They have been obviously apprehended and they've been charged with
reckless endangerment, burglary and a number of other chargesurglary yeah, yeah,
so many charges.
Speaker 3 (45:33):
Yes, they are climbed. I don't know if they climb
from the base. I don't think they. I think they
just took the lift up as high as they couldn't,
then climb from there and then they unfilled a banner
that says, when the power of love is more important
than the love of power, the world will something something
on it.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
I was pretty wanky, to be honest, will find peace.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
I've gotta be honest. Though it did give me an
idea to climb to the top of the sky tower
and unfill a banner that says.
Speaker 5 (45:57):
Don't rush the process, do it gradually like most things.
Don't rush them at time, prevail at time, be the
answer to it all.
Speaker 1 (46:10):
I think it's way deeper than what they were saying.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
Yeah. So then they climbed down from there and there
was a proposal, and I was looking at that, thinking, God,
how's the admen on that? Like did he keep that
a secret from her? Because how many mates do you
have who have tried to propose? Were three men in
the studio have proposed five times between us and I
(46:37):
so far, I mean, we'll get there.
Speaker 1 (46:38):
I would have proposed sixteen times. If people I would
go around at a crescent.
Speaker 3 (46:50):
No, I've just got so many maides who are like, oh, yes,
I had the ring, you know it was And I
was trying to, you know, arrange like a beautiful time
to do it where you're often on holiday you know
you unround Europe or something like that, and at least
two of them have reported of like, all right, why
don't we go, hey, hey, babe, why don't we go
down and check this view out of it? No, I
don't want to go down there. Okay, okay, you've said
(47:12):
an old picnic down there, but you're trying not to
lead on the fact that you're about to propose. So
they're like what Hayle was thinking, we could go check
this this rooftop bar, but I really no, it doesn't
look that good.
Speaker 1 (47:23):
I don't want to failed proposals. It's an interesting one,
isn't it. Actually? I imagine three for it through there's a
number of people out there with what about ones of
the public. I've always thought about that people you know
that will choose an all black game or something.
Speaker 3 (47:35):
Dude, and then we're supposed to do for the woman.
You can't say no, I know, I know.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Well I have a very close friend who was proposed
to on the top of a mountain and they couldn't
get down without saying yes. Really they didn't feel.
Speaker 3 (47:47):
Like a option, oh because of the implication.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Yeah, well, there was a there was it was a
it was a helicopter to the top of a mountain,
and he proposed on the top of a mountain, and
then there were people waiting who had created a picnic
for them at the bottom. At the bottom, and so
then the ski down like as Hallie ski situation, and
then the ski down and there was the there was
no choice, so she.
Speaker 3 (48:10):
So she would have said yes right in the moment,
just let's get over let's get this over with, and
then had to ski down. What's going through a head?
Was his skin down there?
Speaker 1 (48:20):
Said, oh god, I made a terrible mistaule god.
Speaker 3 (48:22):
No no, no, no, no, no no.
Speaker 1 (48:24):
Well that that proposal didn't last. They didn't end up
getting married.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
No, right, just like you guys. Actually, what was your
how do I don't think I've ever heard your story?
Speaker 1 (48:34):
Mine? Yeah, oh that's right, So mine was. I was Mischiga.
We just found out Tolcy and I found out that
Telsey was pregnant, and we went in to get the
scan done where you find out the sex of the
baby you can do, and we did, and then afterwards
we wandered out and very romantically by the part our
(48:55):
tennis courts there in the domain. I we sat down
at a park bench, and I said, what did I say?
I can't even remember. I can tell you, I said,
I would I'd like to spend the rest of my
life with you. Would you like to spend the rest
of your life with me as well? And tells? He said,
can I ever think about that? I said, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
Sure, And she's still thinking today.
Speaker 1 (49:19):
I mean Ian's wise words would have probably been fitting
in the situation.
Speaker 5 (49:24):
Don't rush the process. Time is natural, so let it.
Let us take its natural course.
Speaker 6 (49:32):
Jerry and Midnight The Hodiarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (49:35):
Sports Chat with acc Head g Lane, brought to you
by Export Ultra.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
The Beer for Here. Welcome to the show, acc Here,
g Lane, no doubt heading on down to christ Church
the All Blacks playing France tomorrow night, seven o'clock.
Speaker 5 (49:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (49:52):
Absolutely, It's a beautiful winter's day down here, not a
cloud in the sky. It's minus one degree. It is
far breathing cold.
Speaker 3 (50:02):
You know it's cold when you when you become aware
that your shoes aren't warm enough for your feet anymore.
Speaker 10 (50:07):
Yeah, like I can't feel my toes at all in
my kind of city socks and city shoes. But she's
all go down here nigh and Jerry putting it on.
There's lunches galore going on today. There's the acc Inappropriate
Sports Quiz tonight at Robbie's on Litchfield, and there's the pre
game tomorrow at Robbie's on Litchfield. Again, we're doing flat
(50:28):
drops for Export ultras Algo.
Speaker 3 (50:31):
Yeah, big weekend, big weekend, our house christ Hs going
this morning late. It must be fizzing.
Speaker 5 (50:38):
It is.
Speaker 10 (50:38):
I mean as far as I've got, as far as
the airport, and yeah, I mean I mean as airports,
as far as the airports go. It's fizzling at the bunghole.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
Wait, have you got to the Auckland airport.
Speaker 10 (50:49):
You've got the coming christ Hits right now.
Speaker 1 (50:52):
It is.
Speaker 10 (50:53):
Yeah, it was a real it was a real, real
flight of stars. You know, the likes of Beaver. Beaver
on the flight. You know, if it was going to
go down, he would have taken the headline unfortunately, but
he's humped. I said hello to him and he went and.
Speaker 3 (51:08):
That was it.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Ok.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
It's about as much you'll get out of baby what.
Apparently we're hearing rumors that this is the busiest day
for travel domestically in the country because the school holidays
start today. Did you encounter any issues at the airport?
Speaker 6 (51:23):
Oh?
Speaker 10 (51:23):
Yeah, it was. It was the usual nightmare. I got
caught in the toilet putting an absolute clinic on the
Auckland domestic toilet, and I got the third final warning
to get to the plane and was I can't confirm
I was the last to get on the six forty
flight to Chroshge. But it's not for fot on my own.
Did you know I blamed the cues to the toilet?
Speaker 3 (51:45):
Did you wipe?
Speaker 1 (51:47):
Did what?
Speaker 7 (51:49):
Well?
Speaker 1 (51:50):
After what we saw the skytower lane, after what we
saw what you left on the window of the skytowel
there where you pressed your ham up against the window
where I was doing the skywalk around the outside for day.
Speaker 10 (51:59):
Lou Hey, hey, have you ever have you ever finished
in ablution and gone I reckon?
Speaker 5 (52:06):
I don't need to What.
Speaker 1 (52:11):
Have you been out of that? You becked it?
Speaker 10 (52:12):
Have you backed yourself though? Or have you or have
you gone back there done it and gone damn it?
I should have got up?
Speaker 3 (52:18):
Is that what he hit it?
Speaker 10 (52:20):
I'm just asking for pretty sure?
Speaker 1 (52:23):
Sure? So okay, so you've blocked up the toilet and
all from the airport, that's just what they're after the
busiest day of the year, so cubicle three in the
domestic Gate three is down domestic okay, blockages and the
lines to head through security. Those were blockages and the
lines to get into gate three. Also.
Speaker 3 (52:41):
Any any surprises from Dave Rennie's first all black squad.
Speaker 10 (52:45):
I not really. I thought it was a pretty conservative
to have Josh lord and and the cheeky Durry Sam
Durry as the locks was probably the biggest surprise for
me and Peter Laco. Peter Peter the first five, Peter
going at number six as opposed to numbers. But I look,
it's pretty solid. I was hoping for a start for
the Mofo Fenangerofo and Josh Morby, but Penanger enough, he's
(53:09):
on the bench. Josh Morby hasn't made the starting twenty three,
which is a bit of a shame. Also a bit
of controversy around the smiling Hyena Damien McKenzie starting at
fullback and Will Jordan on the wing. Yeah, which think
which is interesting. I mean, must be some reasoning behind it.
I'm a better sports analysis or commentator would probably know,
but I would never clue.
Speaker 3 (53:28):
No, it does seem confusing when Will Jordan's been playing
fullback the entire season, then to all of a sudden
get put on the wing ahead of other actual wingers.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
I can a little bit of insight there. I just
think you're looking at the French will kick and when
you've got a counter attackers, you've got Will Jordan, and
you're linking up with Damian McKenzie and his ability to
find gaps and then link up with his wingers. One
powerful winger on one side, Caleb Clark, and then also
an amazingly skillful and powerful actually Will Jordan on the
other side. Also I've got a kicking game. I don't know.
(53:57):
I think you're just putting your best people on the field.
Speaker 10 (53:59):
Great and alb Yeah, I mean, look, i'd put more
of your probably ahead of Jeb the butt, but that
would have been a dangerous back three with moreby Bill
Jordan and the Hyena. But but there you go. It's
an interesting trust, I must I must admit. But we're
playing a French team that is probably your be given
most of the players are still playing in the French
finals over and in France. They don't really seem to
(54:22):
give the ship careful lane.
Speaker 1 (54:25):
That's why sometimes they don't seem to give a ship
and then all of a sudden, you never know what
French team is going to turn up and someone's grabbing
your balls, they're biting your ah, yeah, they're also yeah,
I just don't know.
Speaker 10 (54:37):
Yeah, that's but that's what they do every time. Come on,
But I would I would get on all backs thirteen
pluses playing a dollar ninety. I've slipped a bit of
money on that one for tonight because I think under
the roofing tomorrow night it will be beautifully warm. Fullbacks by
I Reckon seventeen.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
All right, g Lane, enjoy the weekend and christ Church.
Speaker 10 (55:02):
Apologies anyone traveling in the domestic here fort.
Speaker 1 (55:04):
I apologize, okay, scene does We'll let you go.
Speaker 2 (55:10):
Jerry and Mini the Holdarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (55:12):
Talking about proposal stories earlier, because of course, there was
a couple over in New York the top of the
Empire State Building. They went up there and the dude
proposed I think they proposed when they got down or
something like that.
Speaker 3 (55:24):
Yeah, so at the top of the mast they made
some political statement, came down off the mast, still on
top of the building, and then proposed there, which I
think I mean the admin of that guy having to
climb that building with the ring, the whole thing. We're
talking about. How many people do you know who are like, hey,
why don't we go down and check this view out?
And then the partner's like, that.
Speaker 1 (55:42):
Doesn't quite work out.
Speaker 3 (55:43):
Meanwhile, you're fuman because you've got a ring and a
whole thing set up.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
Yeah, Jesse joins us. Now morning dies he how are
you morning?
Speaker 4 (55:50):
Doellas well?
Speaker 5 (55:51):
Thanks?
Speaker 1 (55:51):
So are you good? How did your proposal go down?
Speaker 9 (55:54):
It was We're in the Bahamas and it was Christmas
morning and I organized, well, there's a perfect spot and
on the beach, so I'd organized to take my wife
along to propose a ring I've brought over. We're living
in Chicago times, burning a hole in my pocket the
entire time. So so I said, right, you know, let's
(56:14):
just go for a walk on the beach. And as
you're walking out of the house, she goes to mom, Hey,
why don't you come along for this? Lovely Yeah. So
we're walking along the beach and the whole time I'm quiet,
and they're chatting away to chatting, and we do this walk,
we get back home and then I'm like, hey, you know,
there's this other section of the beach. Don't do that anyway.
(56:39):
Long yea longer story short. We eventually find the spot
and may get down to the knee. But it was
a long old morning.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
You think when the month said I'll come.
Speaker 9 (56:49):
To oh, it was shocking. And she's just been awfully
quite along this walk.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
Well it's a sign of things to come, do you see,
Because you're forever to be trying to get rid of
your mother and all. There's a third wheel out of
that relationship from then on.
Speaker 7 (57:03):
Thanks for your.
Speaker 6 (57:03):
Cord, Jessee, Jurry and Midnight the Hodarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (57:09):
Big weekend coming up this weekend, Maniah.
Speaker 3 (57:11):
Yeah, I'm walking literally out of the studio right now
and then heading out to the airport on the busiest
day of the airport's ever seen.
Speaker 1 (57:20):
Avoid Gate three at the domestic terminal, or.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
The avoiding gate three at the domestic terminal. I'm picturing
it as well. I know exactly the one. He favors
Gate three, favors Gate three here at work as well
as Gulane.
Speaker 1 (57:30):
Yeah, favors the outsides. So I avoid Gate three and
the toilet domestic terminal in New Zeum. I know it's
been a funny old week. Actually, I would say going back,
I will look back on the first week of July
in twenty twenty six and one person's loan particularly large
over the week for me, you know, middle of winter
July you'd have to say, over halfway till the end
(57:54):
of the year.
Speaker 3 (57:54):
Yeah, about one hundred and seventy five days to Christmas
and that for me.
Speaker 1 (57:59):
As Ian of Sam's Butchery and Silverdale just behind the
plant barm there. They're the winner of the New Zealand
Ham on the Bone Award Best Ham on the Bone
in New Zealand.
Speaker 3 (58:08):
Yeah, no, it makes a bit of Ham. No, it
makes a bit of Ham.
Speaker 1 (58:11):
And Ian came along into the show this week and
he's really changed the nature of the show.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
Yeah, he is. I mean, you know what we thought
was initially and what was a straightforward interview about Ham
became I guess, a wider lesson about the nature of time,
the nature of man. And there's been calls for more
segments from him. So I was surprised last night, Jue,
(58:39):
when I sat down on my couch, I just fell
off the bastard when I turned into seven sharp you
heard that, Yeah, And I saw Ian on seven sharp.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
What's the difference between a regular ham and an award
winning ham like yours?
Speaker 5 (58:57):
Probably a couple of points. The first one is is
to use a female pig as to stink from a
male pig. Make sure you don't overinject the ham with
the brine because you break the tissue up too much.
And make sure all your plant is hygenically spotlessly cleaned.
Speaker 8 (59:18):
I'm just going to ask usuplementary question because I want
to know, and I'm sure lots of people at home
want to know why a female pig and not a bloke.
Speaker 5 (59:27):
Oh that's fair enough. The male pig hasn climbed her
smelly hormones attached. The Chinese or Asian community can pick
it up very easily when they cook pork and the
just wave their hand across the pot. They can smell
(59:47):
the difference. I can't, but they can.
Speaker 4 (59:50):
I suspect the reason why.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
So very was I like every time that man enters
any situation, he he enlightened it. I mean, who would
have thought that the Asian community can smell the difference
between a male and a female peg. H. So I
think we should end the show today with some words
(01:00:14):
of wisdom from the great Ian from Sam's Butchery and Silverdale.
Let's just past the King's plantbarm there.
Speaker 5 (01:00:21):
Don't rush the process, do it gradually like most things,
don't rush them. At time prevail. Let time be the
answer to it all.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
The ho lacky breakfast Bunnings Trade. Have your internal fit
out and finished jobs covered
