The Hurdache Breakfast. Get your insulation jobs sorted with Bunning's trade.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Jerry and and I at your breakfast.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Welcome along to the Hurdache Breakfast. Hope you had a
lovely weekend. My name's Jeremy Wells. Is a nice Stewart
well You were lucky enough to just catch the tail
end of the cricket where it's just all wrapped up,
and then tomorrow overnight tonight England have to chase down
what is it, seventy three? Three seventy three were to
take six wickets, would you say all three results in play?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Probably not the drawer draw No, only we could win.
I reckon, we can only win this game.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
And if you're just waking up, Ben Stokes announced his
retirement overnight in the middle of the Test match, and
we spent the entire podcast this morning talking about it.
Speaker 1 (00:50):
So if you want to hear that, you can super
weird decision. Yeah, but I'm sure he has his reasons
for doing it. But I've never seen anyone announce her
time the day before the end of a game that
you're chasing three hundred and seventy thing.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
It reminds me of when a radio host announces their
retirement on a random Tuesday, and then all of a
sudden they're going, You're like, what did you do? What
did you do? That's what I couel like, I just
know that if either of us announced our retirement on
a Tuesday, that's what's happened here.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
It's been a bit on in the last couple of
weeks and Stokes clearly, but good news over there, and
they've got great news for the Blacks.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
You got to say, good stuff, Buck Malone.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Jerry and Mni. The hod Ikey breakfast.
Speaker 3 (01:36):
That was the sporting the weekend. It was quite not kid.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
You had the All Whites, Yeah, the cricket going on,
then you had the bloody war.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Was yeah, sports a gasm. I we're going to be
talking to Pony later on about the football, how he
marks this season, and I think who should we get
on board with now that the All Whites are out?
This is a familiar feeling for Warriors fans because for
years every Warriors fan had to have a secondary team
because when we didn't make the playoffs, who do you
jump on? Well? Went all right on the weekend. That
(02:06):
was a hell of a game. It was real back
and forth The problem was I watched it. We went
to a pub to watch the All Whites and then
the Warriors started straight afterwards. Great afternoon of Sport in
New Zealand. The problem was there was a flower installation
in the bar I was at that covered the score,
so I couldn't see the score. Disgusting for the entire game.
(02:29):
What is that place? Call itself? I don't want to
say it into a hot mic because they'll come after me.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Is it a bloody garden center? Is it a florist
or is it a sports bar?
Speaker 3 (02:36):
Basically what it was like, man, basically what it was like.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
That's really troubling because it was back and forth.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
I know, there's people.
Speaker 4 (02:42):
In front, people behind, and you were also having a couple.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Of jars and they you're supposed to keep track. Oh yeah,
well I couldn't. And then the but the whole thing
was where we were sitting. We were way down the
back and everyone was just going back with what's school school?
Was it?
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Just because it was it's been unseasonally warm and there's
been a bit of growth and they weren't expecting at
the bar that there was so much growth.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
And it's some kind of bouquet that's just growing it
had over the TV. It was a it was a
floral installation along the ceiling of the bar that grew down.
But I suspect they were actually placedic. I don't think
they were. I don't think they were real, and I
don't think that that bar has ever watched that much
sport in its life. I think it was just caught
short by the fact that everyone was there to and
they'll take the money. They got caught short. They got
(03:26):
caught short, which meant that I couldn't really tell what
the score was. All I could tell was that it
was a ding dong back and forth. It was. It
was crazy. You guys watched it at home, was a yeah,
you'll have a better read on the game.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Twenty six twenty four in the end, and the Warriors
were leading right into the end, and then they came
back and then kacked the goal.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
And then this happened, bouncing into the possession of sel
with Tomo who runs the sell went.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
To man forty thousand, four hundred and sixty five people.
Is there right an attendance at sun Corpse Stadium. Selwyn Coppo,
who had an odd game because he'd made quite a
He's made a couple of mistakes, like real rookie stuff
and then that amazing try and then kicking the goal.
Speaker 3 (04:17):
I mean that was a great game of rugby league.
He's about his challenged as the footy player. Is that
you've actually that performance actually probably sums up his career
has gone so far as well. Yeah, like highs and
lows getting dropped from the Broncos and then they win
the competition and then he's all over the place. Yeah,
great fredibly talented, incredibly talented. Two tries in the match
as well. Worryingly more injury issues that Dallen motenis Alesnia
(04:41):
went off with a hamstring complained at one point throughout
the game. I don't know. I don't know if you've
seen many players over thirty tweak the hammies before takes
a while. It takes a while. I mean our dear
friend who works with us here, a scre g lane,
tore his hamstr during snowboarding last year, but it still
(05:02):
hasn't come right. Have you ever heard of anyone to
their hamstring snowboarder? No? No, but I also I have never.
It's usually like a broken leg, isn't it? Or rest knee. Yeah,
I don't heard injury. I don't never have any house
for the green whistle. They said, no, No. I think
if you're coherent enough to ask for the green whistle,
(05:24):
then you don't deserve the green mistles. Mate, you've done
a little hamstring strain.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
You might not have even done. Mate, You've just pulled
it slightly. I'm getting the green west come up.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
But anyway, we've been waylaid by g Lane slander. Once again.
We'll be hearing about this from his lawyers. I just
how long. I mean, we gave a great account of ourselves,
everybody saying that game of the year and you know,
top of the table clash. How many more injuries can
this squad sustain? We were saying this just last week.
We've now had a couple more. It's going to be
(05:54):
a tough one. I felt like our centers as well,
were I mean to be fair, Herbie's about as good
as a center as the league's ever seen. He's good
and so yeah, but I don't know. We'll rock a
very be rushed back in this week. What are we
going to do? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
But the thing is about that team that the Warriors
team at the moment. They're a good team.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Man.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
I've watched the Warriors, not like as much as a
lot of people, and I watched them a lot over
the year since since the bloody start, and overall, I reckon,
this is the best Warriors team obviously ever seen play.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
There's something about the way that when we lose, we
lose very narrowly. Yes, it's like the floor has raised
so high, like you're not going to see a terrible performance.
And that's just a good team.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Yes, are a good team. They play well together, they're
playing fast, they tackle well, they defend.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
There's a good team. The good team is We've got
to buy.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
This week so we can look at warns and yeah,
try and figure it out.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
The Dolphins team they played well, dark great Eight on
the Trot Now Eight on the Trot is a member
of the Dolphins family club. Now they send her an
email every week. Thins up, she checks the team. It's
the Hammer, isn't it. She's beginning. It's to him.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Jerry and midnight the hold I keep breakfast.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
He was talking about the Wars there in the NRL.
How's this story out of the National Ruguy League. Dramatic
footage has emerged of Parameda Rugby League coach Jason Ryles
pulling a woman out of a burning vehicle late on
Thursday night, just minutes before it caught fire. Jason Ryle, yes, so,
he was on his way home to Woollongong after the
Eel's thirty two to twelve loss to the Rabbits, literally
(07:30):
from the stadium back to his house, when he came
across an overturned burning car. He pulled over, joining another
bystander was trying to free the trapped woman.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
Come around the corner and there was a couple of
people there already.
Speaker 7 (07:42):
Yeah, the girl was inside, unfortunately, and then the guy
I sort of broke the back window with a yet
one of those ten yetti bottle things. And then yeah, no,
I haven't a bit of trouble kind of getting her out.
I just helped the guy and the girl that was there,
and I'm glad she got out. Stations unfortunate she's in
a bit of shop, which she's she's okay, So.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
I can imagine s to be in a bit of shock, yeah,
he said later on the other fellow did most of
the work.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
He cut his hand.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
I was probably more suited to getting the girl out
because of the size of me.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
He probably got the size of me. Lots of training.
Its inspirational coaching as well, because next week when he
shows up to try and gee the boys up after
a thirty two twelve loss, and he comes in, he goes,
you know, when I pulled that woman from that burning
wreck just shortly before the car exploded, you know, I
sort of looked at it and I thought, there's already
two blocks in there. They're doing the work. I could
(08:31):
just leave it, but I thought, no, that's not That's
not what Ill's culture is about. Ye Ill's culture is
about getting stuck in, ripping in for your mates and
doing what needs to be done. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
I think they're doing what needs to be done as
the important part of that yeah sentence, because the other
thing is he worked. He worked as a team. Yeah,
he saw what he could do. Yes, and he's like,
this is my opportunity here. I don't need to be
the hero. I just need to do what I need
to do here.
Speaker 3 (08:54):
Do you reckon? He was issuing words of advice or
trying to marshal the troops a little bit like as
a coach. Dear coaching instincts kick in. I'd say there'd
be a little bit of that during any shot up.
I was just like, look, guys, what we need to
do here is just lay a platform. Really earned the right,
earn the right to spin it wide, and you'll know
when you've earned that right, and when you have, we'll
do it and we'll back you one hundred percent. But
for now, let's just throw and get that grab that
(09:16):
yetty yetty tin water, bottle, things, smashes, backlinds, green yep, beauty,
get on you and now we're gonna sub you off.
For me, I would I liked his line, I won't lie.
I ship myself.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Well.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Anytime you'll find a car overturned on its side, he
literally himself.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Jerry and the Night the Hoky Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Six thirty four on the Hadache Breakfast Time for You
Later Sport headlines thanks to expert Ultra the beer for here.
Captain England England Captain Ben star In England Captain England
has announced his retirement from international cricket. He stepping down
after the current Test against New Zealand. On the field,
England at one O three for four at stumps on
day four, chasing three seventy three for victory. Early Daryl
(10:00):
Mitchell made a hundred to guide. The black Caps are
two eighty eight for nine declared ration. Ravendra made ninety four.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Damn go good, go get the blue gone real good.
What are the odds there at the tab of New
Zealand winning minight? The odds are a dollar and five
almost unbackable for New Zealand to win this one. The
draw forty one and England ten dollars to pull this
one out.
Speaker 4 (10:19):
And every Friday we've got the TB three way bet
responsibly of course. And that is the lastly. The next
come in, Jerry, you back to New Zealand to win
the cricket Test. Here, yes, who are in.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
The other two are in geez, we're on here, there
we go. For the long time that that promo we
were calling it the three way that plays, it was
not this in I reckon the last six months it
has been more often than not.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
Finally, the m Lawson scored points for a fourth straight
Formula One race, finishing where he started in ninth at
the Austria. At the Austrian Grand Prix Mersadies, George Russell
held off a late charge from Max for stap and
to secure his second win of the season. Russell sits
second in the championship standings, forty points behind teammate Kemmi Antonelle.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
That sounds pretty well. I feel bad for Lemlilson. I
feel like he's forever in these and maybe all of
the drivers are, but forever in these rumors about ah,
he's going to lose his seat next year, he's going
to be doing this and that. But then but then
you always hear he's in back in the points again. Gone,
all right, that can't be good for you. That that
kind of like we're going to sack you next year.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I think it's tough if one. Yeah, mentally on those
guys and there's only a certain amount of jobs. And yeah,
it's brutal.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
It's brutal, but that's professional sport. Oh that's just how
she goes and it. Eh, you don't. You don't have
to do it. It's good to get paid a lot to
do if someone else wants to. Yep, it's a good.
Speaker 1 (11:36):

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Wing Jack Bostock's been named to replace two at Wang
for his Origin debut. Queensland coach Belief Slaa will name
her squad today with Pat Carrigan and Jeremiah and then
I poised to return.
Speaker 2 (12:07):
Jerry and Knight the Hotarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
I served up this article last night about a woman,
a German influencer. Her name is Eda Elisa. You call
it an article? Interesting that I was reading this article
last night and when I swiped through to the fifth
photo of the article, No, yeah, I've seen this one
(12:31):
happen before that. So she was denied a boarding past.
She wasn't allowed to get on her plane because they
claimed you have nothing on you are naked. She then
took to social media, which look mask off. This is
where I saw it, and she was posting about hey,
like is this an inappropriate thing to be wearing on
a flight? Now? We this was on aft lift Hanza,
yeahft tons of flight. We've been on a lift hons
(12:54):
of flight before. Jeremy and we They bored very particularly
that's the latest boarding procedure I've ever seen. So we
were all sitting next to each other, and then on
our tickets it had boarding group and none of us
were in the same boarding group, Like what the hell?
So they sought you out like cattle, and then they
make you line up in your boarding groups and then
(13:16):
they go through and what happens is they go you
go down the middle of the thing, and then they
fill the seats from window in, so all of the
window seats sat down first, then the middle, then the
aisle seats. It's the most efficient boarding process I've ever
seen in my life. It ran like absolute clockwork. So
the point where our pilot came out of the copper
(13:37):
to congratulate us on this.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
The most German thing I've ever seen in my entire life. Firstly,
the whole boarding process was so human, it was so organized.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
But then the fact that the pilot literally congratulated the
all of the people are on board. He came over
and he grabbed the hands in the off the ear house.
There was just like your captain's picking, just like to
congratulate you on a very efficient boarding process. No worries. Mate,
gave us a bar of linch chocolate each and off
(14:08):
we went. No, but I have I know of a
person who I shall not name, who has been rejected
from a flight before, but not for being scantily clad.
So this person was flying overseas. They had done the
whole I'm jacking my job and I'm selling the car.
They literally sold the car on their way to the
airport to catch this international flight. I just need a
(14:29):
little sort of eat prey love situation, get away, find
myself broken up with the missus, left the job, sold
the car, Reset four Reset beforehand has a couple of
beers to sort of ease the nerves. It has a
couple too many beers, particularly for quite a for being
in a heightened emotional state having just done all of
that stuff. Traveling solo, Traveling solo ends up giving the
(14:54):
whole life story to the bloke next to them at
the bar by the stages, in tears. Oh no, blah blah,
you know, just and I'm jacking it all and I've
had enough. I'm just going overseas. I need to reseat,
you know, blah blah blah, pouring his heart out, tears
streaming down his face. A boarding court all right, time
to get on the flight, gets in the thing, gets
up to the we you scan your thing, and the
(15:14):
lady goes, sorry, so you're not allowed to board this.
You're not getting on this flot and he's like, what
do you mean? He looks up. The guy he had
been talking to at the bar is standing there. It
was the pilot. Ah he had had poured as a
tire life story out tears at all to the pilot. Okay,
can't drug. Okay, first thing, wait on wait, wait wait, wait,
back it back. What's the pilot doing at the bar.
(15:35):
That's a good point. That was a good point. Why
is the pilot at the bar? Do you know what?
Now that I look back on it, I don't know.
He may not have been drinking at the bar. Maybe
just in the terminal.
Speaker 8 (15:46):
Jerry and the Night, the Hodarchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and
the Nie to It, the Darkey Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
We can't quite get in touch with Jason Pine right now.
He is in the departure lounge heading back we understan the.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Hang on a second, Hang on a second, who's this
calling into the hotline here? He is Jason? That you Jason.
Speaker 9 (16:08):
As I'm so sorry. I was just getting a Starbucks.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
I don't apologize. What's the order, pony, what do you
go for?
Speaker 9 (16:16):
I can never work out what grand and I could
never work out which ones. I just sort of I
just sort of looked quizzically and they choose one.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Some bucket full of cafe. We're froth on the top
of it. Who knows what it is. So you're in
the departure of the Ange Pony. You're on your You're
on your way back. How's the tournament been.
Speaker 9 (16:36):
Yeah, it's been good. I mean I didn't want to
come home. I you know, for a couple of reasons.
It's it's very cool here in Vancouver. But I kind
of hope, as I think we all did, that the
all whites would take us on an adventure somewhere else
in North America. Not to be after the after the
lost to Belgium on Saturday afternoon. But yeah, look at
the I mean, the tournament's been amazing. Vancouver is awesome.
(16:57):
The people here are embracing this tournament fully. I think
Canada have just kicked off actually against South Africa, so
they'll hope that their tournament continues. But yeah, it's been
it's been quite a right It's been a lot of
fun Jason Pine.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Two losses and a draw for New Zealand and pool play.
How does that stack up against expectations.
Speaker 9 (17:17):
Yeah, well, I think they'll they'll say that they didn't
meet expectation. They always said coming here, they wanted to
make a bit of history, win a game and get
out of the group, and they did neither of those
two things. And and look, I think they'll look back,
in particular at the Iran game where they led one
they'll and two to one and think to themselves, that
was our chance. That was our chance to do those things,
(17:38):
to win a game and to take a massive step forward.
It wasn't to be. They played brilliantly in the first
half against Egypt and then conceded in the second half.
In Belgium are just a class above. So I think
I think what they'll They'll look back and they'll and
they'll say, okay, we're we're on the right path. But
maybe this was a World Cup too early for some
of these guys. They've got a you know, got a
(17:58):
lot of football ahead of them of them, so yet
I'll be disappointed, but I think they can take you know,
some some shreds and bigger than shred some chunks of
positivity away from away from the World Cup.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
One of those, you'd have to say be Eli. Just
three goals in the tournament, Which is that the most
anyone's ever scored in one tournament for the or what's
that's going to be your player of the tournament? Doesn't it? Oh?
Speaker 9 (18:20):
Yeah, I think the head and shoulders and I are
above everybody else. Well, I mean a lot of players
played well, but Eli just you know, no New Zealand
player had ever scored more than one goal at a tournament.
He's now got three of the eight total we've scored
across three World Cups. So yeah, what a player. And
he did a bit of media yesterday and the city's
deliberately not talked to his agent during the World Cup
(18:40):
because he didn't want the distraction. But he hopes that
his agent's got a few phone calls, and I get
the feeling he will have. He's mother well in the
Scottish Premier League at the moment, I don't think he'll
be there for that much longer.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
Jason Prime, where does this leave New Zealand football and
what can they do over the coming years to solidify
or to grow from this performance.
Speaker 9 (19:04):
Just got to get more games against quality teams. I
think that's because we're in Oceania. We're not during our
World Cup qualification path going to get the big games
we need. You know, with all due respect for Figi
Pup in New Guinea, New Caledonia of Vanawa, to those teams,
they will be easily swept aside by New Zealand. So
in between those games they have to get, you know,
(19:25):
in their international windows, quality opposition to play against us.
It's always hard to get teams to come to New
Zealand long way costs a lot. But gather in Europe,
gather in North America, play games in the windows, get
these players together as often as you possibly can, and
sort of chart a path towards the next World Cup
in twenty thirty. I think for the players as well,
(19:45):
they can you know there And basically the coach said afterwards,
these players now need to be playing consistently well at
their clubs and we need some players at bigger clubs
and ELI just as a good example of a guy
who might do that.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
What about football in general in New Zealand feels like
it's riding high at the moment, obviously the World Cup continues.
AUKLANDFC doing their thing this year as well. It feels
like the game is in a good spot.
Speaker 9 (20:07):
Yeah, I think so. Yeah, and participation numbers have been
good for a while. You know, a lot of young
young boys and girls are playing the game and it's
a matter of, I guess, continuing to build that base.
The bigger the base of the pyramid, the more likely
that those who rise to the top of it will
be elite players. And you know, the more you have,
the bigger the chances are, I guess. So in New
Zealand football should capitalize on the interest that's been gained
(20:28):
around this World Cup. It still carries on of course
the knockout rounds to come. So yeah. I mean when
we had the Women's World Cup three years ago there
was certainly a boost off the back of that and
hopefully they'll be the same in this one.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
And what about the coach, Bigger Baisley, what for him?
Where does he go from here?
Speaker 9 (20:45):
Well, he wants to carry on. I understand that there'll
be a review process as there always is after World Cups,
and a recruitment you know, if that is what they
want to do. He wants to carry on. The players
seem to like him, and I guess it's up to
the players when they add their voices to the review,
to tell New Zealand Football whether or not they believe
(21:06):
that they can be taken to the next level. If
this is the level that Darren Basley can take them to,
then that won't be enough to the next World Cup
cycle because they need to go to the next level.
So he'll have to convince New Zealand Football that he
is the man to do that, doesn't.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Buying One more question for what happens from here on
in the World Cup? Is it me or have there
not been the amount of upsets that we've had in
other FIFA World Cups.
Speaker 9 (21:29):
Yeah, no, you're right there. I mean they've been the
odd one or two, but nothing that would really leap
out at you. Now that we're into the knockout stages
where every game is when all go home, this is
where you might see lower ranked teams really punch above
their weight. Look as an example, and I'm not saying
this is going to happen, but Cape Verde play Argentina,
So you know, I think anybody who knows anything about
(21:51):
football knows that Argentina are a superpower. If Cape Verde
were to win that that would be an upset. So
you look at the round the thirty two matches, and
because because thirty two teams have gone through rather than
the usual sixteen, there are a lot of teams, you know,
from the lower echelons who will take on some superpowers
and who knows on their day, maybe that upset or
(22:11):
more than one upset is coming.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Jason Pine football commentator for Skysport. Thank you so much
for your time this morning.
Speaker 6 (22:17):
Piney.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
We appreciate it. Enjoy that flight.
Speaker 10 (22:19):
A lot of guys see you so, see you later.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Here's a text on three for it three. Why do
soccer bros? We're sports bras? How hot? Asking for a friend?
I think out's drone question. It's good, it's hot.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Jerry and Mini the hold ikey breakfast.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
I've written a lot of articles lately, gentlemen, as as
you've become aware on the on the shove and doing
a lot of reading. Really yeah, actually, here's another one.
Do you will you, guys accept if someone says that
they are reading a book but they're actually listening to
the audio book. Do you accept that? I do? Actually,
I do. I do, because however, you ingest your information
(22:57):
and we can't judge people for how they take it.
And you might be a visual learner, you may be
an auditory learner. I well, okay, well, I was just
finished reading a book, but I also finished reading a
couple of articles on sosh media. One of them was
about death row meals. This is always something that has
fascinated me. So for example, John Wayne Gacy, if he
(23:18):
watched his Netflix docco I'm aware of John Wayne Gacy,
the KFC Keller, the KFC, the Keller Clown. He requested
a bucket a KFC original recipe, twelve f French fries,
and a pound of strawberries. The Oklahoma City bomber chose
a dessert for his last meal, two pints of mint
chocolate chip ice cream. Just going yeah, two pints. I
(23:38):
wouldn't I'd probably go with that, to be honest. Lawrence
Russell Brewer was convicted of racially motivated but he ordered
an astronomically large face. We're talking two chicken fried steaks,
triple meat, bacon cheeseburger, pizza, hart Meat Lover's pizza and
didn't touch any of it.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Well, now this is interesting. So how much can you get,
like how big can the meal be?
Speaker 3 (23:57):
You care? So some places have price limits. In Florida,
there's a forty dollars cat.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Well, that's understandable because otherwise you could you could rack
up like a three thousand dollars buffet.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Yeah, Oklahoma's twenty five dollars.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Cheap, twenty five bars, it's twenty five US or New
Zealand twenty five US.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
But food's much more expensive over there too. Provide a tip,
swings and red Yeah, well that's a good service. Chat
and then other places actually don't do the death row meal.
They'll just say whatever you've got from the cafeteria. What
if your favorite feed from the cafeteria was over the
last few years? Oh yeah, in order that. But we're
not going down to KFC for you. What about a
wine match? So this is interesting. There is only one
(24:38):
thing that you're not allowed in any of the US
states that have the death penalty, The one thing that
you're not allowed to order, The only one rulers you
are not allowed.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
To order alcohol. Okay, for whatever reason they've banned passed
from that. I suppose there's no person prison.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
That's so that's part of it they're worried about. So
if death row inmates were ordering past, then all of
a sudden, now that the present has to keep like
a cellar full of wine and presume like a fridge
full of beer or something, and then that's obviously going
to become an issue. They're going to get hold of it.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Question obviously without warning, but are you allowed like a
prisoners in those situations, are they allowed on antidepressants? Like
if you if you were on if I was on
death row, I'd be quater. I'd been a bit down
on myself.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
You know, are you allowed? Do you get on the antidepressant? Please?
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Just look for you, just even full stop if you're
if you're a depressed and mate, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
I don't know anyone anyone antidepressant depression in the prison community.
And what would your death for a Melbury if you
were to go in there, because I've thought about the
said nauseum. Oh yeah, for me, I would be going.
It's pretty pretty simple. Actually, I would go at the.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Moment a Zinger zinger Burger, yeah, but the zinger Stacker,
so that the two singers. I love the zinger Stacker,
and I'd go a large coalsal. I wouldn't go small
normally i'd say, I'd say a small coalstal, but i'd
go a large colesal. And then i'd go large fries Yep, gravy,
(26:16):
absolutely gravy.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
Now I've started changing the potato and gravy for just
straight gravy. Yeah, excuse me, because I only use the
gravy to dip the chips in, and I hate dipping
chips into chips because there's potato at the bottom of
the thing. I said, swap that sucker up for straight gravy.
Please try It'll change your life. Okay, Well i'd go
with that. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Yeah, I'd only obviously ever try it once, but i'd
have it and then and then I just go like
I'd probably go an L and P.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
But they don't have ALMP in the States, so I
don't know how that would work. What about you, No,
it's funny you basically the exact same as me. I
wouldn't go the stacker. I'd just go the straight zinger booger.
I've got a couple of wicked wings in there as well.
Probably go just like a drummy of original recipe, just
for just for old I'm sake. You know, large chips,
the gravy niver mind the coleslaw. I always give that
(27:06):
to the missus anyway, sir, I find that's quite good
to dip the chips in. It's quite It's like sugar.
But that could be my parting gift to the missus.
Hey his final how nice? Yeah, what about you?
Speaker 4 (27:19):
I'd probably have to go for some sort of home
cooked meal every year on my birthday. When I was
growing up, we got to pick what we wanted, and
Mama Ruders Burgers. I'd probably get one of Mama ruders
Burger's delivered and some nice fries there go.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
Okay, see we're all gone burger. That's kind of interesting
a thing. You think it would be some big flash mean,
you know, restaurant menu item.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
But no, it's not Stagaways, Jerry and the Night, the
Key Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Just a couple of weeks ago, Midnight announced on this
very show that he was going to install himself as
a pillar of his community.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
I don't know if it's the kind of thing you
can bestow upon yourself. In hindsight, now that I look
back on it, I don't know if you can proclaim
yourself a pillar of the community. Well, how do you
how do you install yourself as a pillar of community
of the community. I mean, what are you doing?
Speaker 10 (28:05):
What?
Speaker 3 (28:05):
How would you know? What were your what's your strategy is?
How are you going to how are you going to
do this networking? Because so with this came about, I
feel like this is an issue facing a lot of
people in twenty twenty six. There's a lack of community.
Everyone sits at home, they doom scroll. We used to
be out in the community seeing people this and that.
There's a phenomenon going on at the moment with my
(28:26):
generation where we don't have kids yet and I've got
a lot of mates to it like this in my
same situation, and I think that's where a lot of
the community comes from. You're down the school, you're coaching the.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Riverhead Raptors, assistant coach.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
Thank you assistant coaching. You're forced to become a member
of the community against your world. But it is good
for you now, it's now for us. We don't we
don't have that and we're missing that. So men and
made of might have decided that we're going to launch
a campaign to install ourselves in the community and look
if we have pila status bestowed upon us, then so
be it. But I guess my first question of for
he is, how do I know if I had become
(28:59):
a pillar of the community.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Well, there's only one way to judge that, and that's
with a QSM. So you have to get a Queen
Service Medal.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Okay, along my way away from that, you would think, well,
at the moment your attempts to get a QCM going
down to your pub and drinking.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Now, I'm not sure if there's anybody that's ever been
given a Queen Service Medal for services to drinking that
their local pub.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
There's one I can think of. Graham Henry, right, he's
got one order for services to red.
Speaker 1 (29:28):
Wine, services to red wine and dancing with his wife
or Raywan. That's right, and we're posse foot on the
dance floor. So Graham Henry boy oh boy, fleet yes,
fleets dispoutiful fleet foot.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
So we two of trying to install myself at the community,
we went. We went back to the same pub again.
And you know, just because well this is the thing,
showing up once does not install you into the community. Right,
showing up again, now you're on the way. We are
now at the point where evidently we drunk so much
the week before that we were mentioned in the work
group chat at that bar. Okay, And then the manager
(30:03):
when he saw us walk in, he just gave me
the two fingers as if do you want two beers
you guys, and then brought to over then and then
as he walked back past again, every time he'd say,
I said, give me a little gesture, and I'd be like, yep.
So we are now installed into at least the pub. Okay,
Well that's good, I mean. And also you've got to
(30:23):
get in there.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
And I've got a real issue. I mean, I have
interests in a bar and bonds me, so I would
be interested in this. But the dry July can piss
off because you're at the moment.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
You know.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
I heard an ad for it the other day and
people saying, you know, it's good to abstain for a month.
It's like at the moment you've got. Hospitality is the
industry which is struggling the most New Zealand of any industry,
because it's when people don't have money, they don't the
first thing that they don't do. And I understand that,
and you know, good, good reason, but hospitality needs people
(30:57):
to be to be backing at it moment and supporting it.
And so you are supporting the hospitality. Actually what you're doing, it's.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
Good on you.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
I met a local business owner, one of the gentlemen
came over and had a bill us. He owns one
of the cafes in the in the area, in other area,
and he introduced himself to me for the second time,
said yep with it last week. I'm trying to evidently
evidently not very memorable. And they met another couple of
people I think who worked there. So I think the
(31:27):
tentacles are starting to spread throughout the community.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Yeah, I think you need produce some other things. I mean,
Mark's just text down here with the suggestion, and I
I think you need to go to the local sports ground,
spend fifteen years volunteering behind the bar and mowing the lawns.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
That'll make your play. I think Mark's right, that will
help you. Yeah, fifteen years of mowing is quite a lot,
isn't it.
Speaker 1 (31:44):
You're looking for the short rode, that's for sure. This
is a hidacky breakfast Jerry.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
And Midnight the Huriarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Time to play. It's a good damn it. Give us
a call out. Oh eight hundred hurdachi one hundred forty
eight seven two five.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
If you want to play, you just need to answer
three questions and get the correct out of five.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
And you're worried they might be a bit too easy
this morning, Jerry, I reckon, they're easy for a two
hundred dollar bunningsout you Yeah, okay, Well, hopefully we've got
someone dumb on the line. Oh no, we're a GP.
We got Gareth on the logan morning Gareth.
Speaker 10 (32:15):
How are you doing good? Thank you?
Speaker 3 (32:16):
What what school will you be representing?
Speaker 10 (32:19):
Dallas now in Helen's in the UK?
Speaker 6 (32:21):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (32:22):
Okay, we our first international schoolers left it. Yeah it
is yeah. I know we had someone who went to
school on the Gold Coast, but I mean that is
that technically international? One more time, Gareth?
Speaker 10 (32:32):
What was the school called Dallas.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
And it was Helen's Helen Okay, great rugular league? Tam
up there? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 10 (32:48):
I used to work in the public across the road.
It was always murder on match.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
Day, Graham low I think used to coach St Helens
back in the day, don't he Lowe?
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Anyway, Gareth, what would your dearth Row Meal be uh
I did really?
Speaker 10 (33:03):
Yeah, I'm barely kissed by a plane. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:07):
Yeah, it's basically still mooing. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (33:11):
Do you want to tell even a really bad vat
could still David?
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Okay, Gareth, are you ready to player's got to get
three correct out of five.
Speaker 10 (33:21):
There's any cricket questions?
Speaker 3 (33:23):
Man?
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Okah, you got forty five seconds. Here we go, Gareth,
who's sang the jewet? I knew you were waiting for
me with George.
Speaker 10 (33:31):
Michael Oh, Whitney Houston?
Speaker 1 (33:35):
No, it was Aretha Franklin. Which former New Zealand cricketer
was given the nickname the sixy camel as it's Tim Soudi?
Which element was the chemical symbol ag.
Speaker 10 (33:48):
Silver?
Speaker 3 (33:49):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (33:50):
What is the name of the large purple fury mascot
from McDonald's.
Speaker 10 (34:00):
Post. No, that's not christ I think. Oh, I don't get.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Its Gramma's which means you can't do it because who
directed the ninety ninety four movie Pulp Fiction.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
You'll get that correct? Garantin Yeah, got mate, you were
right about the cricket. It did undo you. There was
the one cricket question in there. If there was something else,
I think you might have got it, but unfortunately no
luckret too hard ruder.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
Yeah, sorry about that. I mean they were too easy
ninety seconds ago. Now they're too hard.
Speaker 8 (34:35):
Jerry and Leni the Hdarchy Breakfast Daly bespoke content that
you won't find on the radio show The Darky Breakfast Podcast.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
So, twenty six years after the TV show dobuted, the
new movie Jackass, Best and Last is out this Thursday.
We have to say it's R sixteen contains offensive language
and nudity, and we were lucky enough to watch the
movie and talk to Chris Pontius, Drake, did you Tremaine,
and Johnny Knoxville himself.
Speaker 11 (35:06):
Reminder, the stunts in this movie were performed by professionals.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
Hi, I'm Wee Man, I'm brymar Jerrold.
Speaker 3 (35:10):
I'm Preston Lacy, I'm Chris Pontia.
Speaker 11 (35:12):
So for your safety and the protection of those around you,
are England, do not attempt any of the stunts you
have just seen.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
Oh, I'm Johnny Knoxville.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
I'm Johnny Knoxville.
Speaker 12 (35:23):
I'm Johnny Knoxville.
Speaker 6 (35:24):
Welcome to Jack.
Speaker 5 (35:27):
Welcome to the first day of our last film.
Speaker 12 (35:30):
What you're feeling, I'm sad, does it make you sad, Chris.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
No, I'm not in touch with my emotions.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Johnny, you get emotional in the latest film. Can you
tell us why that is? And you know what you're
going to mess exactly?
Speaker 13 (35:49):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (35:50):
Well, I've spent the best part of my adult life
with the Jackass cast and crew, and it's you know,
it's coming to an end, and it's the only time
I've wept in a Jackass film. And I'm going to
miss doing what we do, traveling all over the world
(36:10):
doing really silly shit together.
Speaker 12 (36:12):
But that's all right. We're going to stay together doing films,
but just not Jackass.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
How do you know you didn't cry after the Bull
and jack Ass forever.
Speaker 12 (36:24):
Because I had those little birdies going around my head. Yeah,
I may have cried.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
I saw him. He didn't cry. He snored.
Speaker 12 (36:32):
He was sleeping minutes he was sleeping.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
How much of the whole thing, Johnny, Well, is just
an excuse to catch up with the Mits again.
Speaker 5 (36:38):
That's that's not too far off, Like we wanted to
get together and do it again for us and for
the fans.
Speaker 12 (36:47):
It's.
Speaker 5 (36:48):
Uh, you know, you got Paramount giving you money to
do the dumbest shit possible.
Speaker 12 (36:53):
It's not a bad gig.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
Will we say in this film the last if a
stunt performed by Johnny Knoxville, I doubt it.
Speaker 5 (37:04):
Yeah, some of some of the stuff I did didn't
even make the film I got. I took a liver
shot from a heavyweight boxer.
Speaker 13 (37:10):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (37:11):
I don't know if you've ever been hitting the liver,
but it just paralyzes you and you can't breathe. And
didn't even make the fucking film. Oh thanks a lot.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
But yeah, I look, I can do stunts from the
neck down, but I just can't do any stunts. I
can't get any more concussions. I've had too many. I
promised my kids and wife that I wouldn't do that anymore.
You know, I kind of made a promise.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
To myself too.
Speaker 12 (37:35):
It sucks, but I can't. No more head trauma, No
more head trauma.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Speaking of his pontius, this one's for you. How often
in a diagwake a month would you be asked to
show someone your downstairs?
Speaker 7 (37:45):
Oh?
Speaker 14 (37:46):
You know how often I get asked it's weird, yeah,
by like jackass fans.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
All the time. Yeah yeah, And so I show him? No, no, no,
I don't.
Speaker 1 (37:56):
You don't have to ask him, you know, it doesn't
a whole lot of arm twisting to get him out
of those uncomfortable clothes.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah, I don't like.
Speaker 14 (38:04):
Yeah, I hate wearing clothes like I hate them, and
I look funny naked, so I might as well do
it look funny.
Speaker 12 (38:11):
You look amazing naked. By the way, excellent segue. Speaking
of header Hamad, have.
Speaker 6 (38:18):
You found, Chris that it's getting bigger or smaller with age?
Speaker 12 (38:21):
It's actually, you know what, that's funny you asked that.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 14 (38:24):
It's because maybe I lost weight recently or something.
Speaker 12 (38:26):
But I noticed in the past, like six months, maybe
I felt.
Speaker 14 (38:29):
My penis has been it's been growing a little bit,
not not like inches or anything, but it's it's slightly
bigger than.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
It used to be. It might be the gravity of them,
might be gravity from Yeah.
Speaker 12 (38:39):
That that head is so big it just pulls it down.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
That's what's happening though, Yeah, yeah, that's what. It's very
top heavy.
Speaker 12 (38:47):
It's warm too, it's warm.
Speaker 3 (38:51):
What's the main thing that people bring up to you
when I say you guys out in the wild when
they bump into any of the thrabias. What's the number
one thing that they they yell out to you, or
the number one standel prank with thing that I remember.
Speaker 5 (39:02):
You know, you used to people the guys wanted to
fight me when this first began. You know, I got
in a lot of fights.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
I don't think they wanted to fight you. They just
wanted to be part of the crew.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
And they kick you in the deck without without asking,
without asking.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
Well, and I took that is, let's fight, but I
would But now people just come up and it's just
they just will say hello and thank me and us
for doing what we do.
Speaker 14 (39:26):
I think, like when it first came out, like the
people that were like our same age, like in their twenties. Yeah,
twenty year olds are much lot more likely to want
to kick you in the balls than like forty or
fifty year olds. And I think because they didn't like
respect us as much, were more like their peers.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 12 (39:42):
I think they just feel like they're hanging out with
their part of the crew, watching the movie. You feel
like you're with it. Yeah, it wasn't just kicking in
the balls.
Speaker 5 (39:50):
Girls will sometimes come up and hit me right in
the face or put cigarettes out on my face. That
was a long time it doesn't happen anything more terrible.
Speaker 12 (39:57):
Yeah, or give you a smooch.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
That happened a couple of times, Christian for Jiff, Like,
out of all of the Jackass performers and crew, who's
the biggest pussy?
Speaker 12 (40:10):
That's an excellent question.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
Excellent question. Yeah, I mean it might be me. I
don't want to call him out just because.
Speaker 14 (40:20):
If they are a pussy, then ship still happens to them,
you know what I mean, Like they don't volunteer necessary
for it, but it's still gonna happen.
Speaker 12 (40:27):
If they try to be a pussy.
Speaker 5 (40:28):
Jeff ensures that they're not, because if you try to
back out of an idea, Jeff will make you do it.
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Yeah, brave pussies.
Speaker 12 (40:36):
Yeah, yeah, that should have been.
Speaker 6 (40:40):
Like, Johnny, you're dad, how do you feel about one second?
Speaker 12 (40:49):
Let him answer ask his question.
Speaker 6 (40:52):
Yes, sir, Johnny, you're a dad. Would you encourage your
kids to go into the same line of work as you?
Speaker 10 (40:57):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Hell no.
Speaker 5 (40:58):
But I have two daughters, which I don't have to
worry about them. Their daughters are actually smart. And my son,
he's an athlete, he's not I don't have to worry
about him. He has self worth.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
He's smart too.
Speaker 12 (41:14):
Actually, yeah, he's very brock or smoke.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Oh thanks you guys, thanks so much for tuning to us.
We love watching over the years. You mean a lot
to us, so it's a great pleasure to meet you.
Speaker 12 (41:23):
Nice to meet you.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Thanks, Thank you, Jerry and Minn the hold ikey breakfast.
Speaker 3 (41:28):
All right, finish up your hondes, finish up your horns.
I'm about to put an end to the myth epidemic
here in New Zealand. One last home. Put that light
bulb back in the ceiling, and we'll carry on all
their days. This came to me in a dream.
Speaker 13 (41:43):
You know.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
I was out on the weekend and I noticed that,
you know the the We're at a bar, we're hanging out,
just having a yarn. And then at a certain point
the pubs switches modes and tries to attract the youngies
and the young crowd, you know what I mean. So
you can sit around, have a guest bag. There's quiet
music playing whatever, have a couple of beers. At about
Tina eleven, the DJ comes up. Oh as a DJ.
(42:07):
The lights go out, strobes all that that whole thing.
The music goes up. A couple of upper couple of discibels,
upper a couple of discbells. Now your yarn's been ruined,
so that's probably time for the oldest to shuffle off,
and so were obliged. But what I noticed at the
time was people weren't really it wasn't filling up the
bars that we were at. Weren't really don't Maybe the
(42:27):
maybe the young gohards go out a bit later than
Tina eleven these days. Maybe they're showing up at midnight.
I don't know, but it seems to me that, particularly
the younger generation, they're not drinking as much. I think
that's that's pretty common knowledge.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
I think that is I think I think the data
supports that, and I think part of it is, you know,
there's a social media of it.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
All the more aware of the health issues than previous generations.
Pussies and that pussies, and but to cater to them
as though he avoids eye contact with everyone in the studio,
to cater to that. The rise of the zero percent
beer has just gone further and further. You know, people
want to go out, they want to socialize, they don't
(43:08):
want the effects of being drunk or hungover, so they
have you know, get on the zero percenters. My idea
in the myth pandemic sing along if you've cotton on
to where I'm going here zero percent myth, so you
get to still have a home, but it's actually zero percent.
Speaker 1 (43:27):
So you know, so you're going through This is interesting
because there's still still involves the ritual because I understand
from what I understand, not a glass barbecue enthusiast myself,
but from what I understand from glass barbecue enthusiasts who
I do know. The thing about it is the ritual
part of it, the communal part of it, the community.
Speaker 3 (43:49):
I'm not trying to advocate it here. That sounds like
I'm trying to the community, but it's the sense of community.
And I think they would be the first or seeking
to admit that there are some flowing effect. It can
have some harm in the community. So what if we
could remove that? So you still you still go to
the you know pub on a Friday, after knocking off
the end of your seven days swinging twelve hour shifts.
(44:11):
You go down and have a few beers. You go,
why don't we go back to my place, walk in
the lounge, take the light bulb out of the ceiling
and then give curtains. Pull the curtains. Chuck on some
conspiracy documentaries, pull them, opied a part in the garage.
I don't know, do you, but but you hit the
zero percenter and then you still get a full night sleep,
wake up tomorrow and you know you can be the
good family man that you want to be. I reckon,
(44:34):
I'm going to corner the market was zero percent man
six man. Okay, that's brilliant.
Speaker 2 (44:41):
Jerry and Midnight the Hoarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Jerryan and I are joined the complayt the Hadarki Breakfast
discussion group on Facebook for Welcome to the studio.
Speaker 1 (44:51):
The Ben Stokes of the acc acc head gla hey.
Speaker 15 (44:54):
I haven't got aids, I haven't got full line. Now
what news overnight? And the Test match over there and
nodding it. I don't know how much you've talked about
it this morning. But Ben Stokes mid Test match decides
to make it about himself.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
So it's very unlikely I've just woken up. He's Ben
Stokes announce his retirement on day four of the Test match.
Speaker 15 (45:20):
Midway through day four, so just paint the picture for you.
He announces it at the tea break to his team
goes out. ECB announced it. He's bowling, by the way
in the middle of the announcement, so the crowd find out.
So it's next over as leventh over, he gets a
standing ovation.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
Hold on he's the captain. Yeah, so he decided who
was bowling and he decided I'm bowling absolutely and how
did that go when they battered?
Speaker 15 (45:44):
So yeah, so then he gets a wicket though he
gets he gets folks out unfortunately, so he gets a
standing jubilation. They bowled and using one out, will we
declear it? They come intobout who's opening?
Speaker 3 (45:55):
Ben Stokes? I decided to promote himself. Yeah, scided to
open himself as I has he done that very often?
Speaker 15 (46:01):
No, not in Test matches, not ever. He got a
nice breezy thirty. But they're still going to lose. But
I resent him for the fact that New Zealand are
going to win this Test match, they're going to win
the series and he's made himself the story.
Speaker 3 (46:12):
Yeah, I see what you're doing there. I see what
you see he focus. Yeah, I see what you're saying.
Speaker 15 (46:19):
I mean, take a leaf out of Stay of the
Ship's book, you know, just even the test manhit.
Speaker 3 (46:22):
Is it not feeling it?
Speaker 1 (46:23):
Yeah, But there's there's bigger things that play here ultimately,
And when New Zealand do win the series, and they
are going to win the series, what they got, they're going.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
To get six wickets, six wickets, it's a hard day
to do it.
Speaker 15 (46:34):
They need to seventy to win.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
Pitches up and now. Oh yeah, yeah, it's never been
done before. I think the highest score I was looking
the other day is to ninety nine England versus New
Zealand a few years ago, to ninety nine chasing. But
what they've got three seventy four is what they've got
to get. That's a whole lot more, particularly when you're
already four down and your best players are all in
the hutch. Yeah, we're gonna win the series, Glane, We're
(46:56):
gonna win the series. And then they're going to look
back and they're going to that was a weird retirement
and this will this will unfortunately have a slightly negative effect,
I think, especially with the last couple of weeks what's
happened with Ben Stokes after they won the first Test
and then he went out and broke his own curfew,
which he came up with and then disrupted the team,
I would say, and then they lost the second Test,
(47:17):
and then he came back into the team and then
they lost the third Test. That's what people remember.
Speaker 15 (47:21):
Yeah, but it's a shame issue because I mean him
and bas did revolutionized Test cricket with the old basball.
They hated it been called baseball that was clear, but
a lot of it called Stokes bull.
Speaker 3 (47:30):
It was great. I mean, it was great to watch
as a fan. It was great to watch, but good things.
Speaker 15 (47:33):
Unfortunately, Australia killed Basball and we are signing the desertificate.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
Alex Carrey, Alex Cherry did it. And then Blundell went,
oh is this how we do it? You just stand
up to the wickets and she's all over. It was
almost poetic there from you. I think, riddle me this lane.
What do you think has gone on here? Why does it?
Why did he choose that moment to do it?
Speaker 6 (47:55):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (47:55):
It's it's it's a very odd, very odd.
Speaker 15 (47:57):
We've had two very odd retirements in this in this series.
It's very odd to retire mid series after a Test match.
Speaker 3 (48:04):
That's odd.
Speaker 15 (48:05):
Kame Willimson did that, but he did in very came
Willimson style, the most Dowur press conference of all time,
questions and just disappeared into the sunset. Then you've got
one mid Test match, Day four at the tea break.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
Because in the past, all we've had is there's the
tim SOUDI, Hey, this will be my last Test match. Guys,
thanks for everything over the years. Then there's been the
victory method, which is that was my last Test match,
gets you guys up. Those are sort of the two
different options.
Speaker 15 (48:31):
You know, Oh yeah, you don't forget the Ross Taylor
farewell tour. That was the three Test match farewell Tour.
Speaker 1 (48:36):
I think there's lots of different ways, but I think
that Test matches are hard, and I think fate looking
for you know, Ben Stokes obviously that this is the
whole thing. But I think with Kan Williams and he
realized what it takes to play a Test match and
the dedication and the effort that it takes. And you
ask yourself, as a Test player who's played for ages,
I am I really going to be asked? Especially when
it's not like it's not a financial decision for these guys.
(49:00):
They well for people, So it's like, can I really
be bothered. Is the motivation there to battle out another
five days?
Speaker 3 (49:08):
No, it's full off. But wouldn't you know that before
the match?
Speaker 1 (49:11):
Well with Stokes, I think he realized that he just
can't be asked with all the stuff around the outside
of it.
Speaker 15 (49:16):
All for him, knowing what his kind of character is,
he probably wanted to use this as a motivation for
the team for the two days because their backs are
against the wall. So maybe he said, long, I'll do
it now to try and motivate them for the last
two days. Go out there, leave nothing on the table.
Maybe that was it.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 15 (49:31):
Maybe you always thinking of doing the end of the test,
but scenes are getting a little pantsing. He's like, I
gotta do something here.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
I don't know, but so someone digs it an imagine
if a rugby player did it. Well, that's like, so
that's the equivalent of Rugby World Cup final. Sam Knes
and the sheds at halftime, Fellows, I retire, Yeah, go
out there and do it for me. By the way,
I'll be kicking off. I'll be kicking all the goals.
Speaker 15 (49:53):
Speaking of all backs this weekend, she's all on this
weekend in christ Church versus France. We're commentaining that live
down there in christ Church, and night before we've got
the acc Inappropriate Sports Quiz that's happening at Robbie's on Lichfield,
So he's still tables available there chext quiz to three
two three sixty. Want to book yourself a table? Pregame
there From two o'clock christ Church is going to turn
(50:14):
on another one. I feel like I've been down there
a lot, just getting on the export.
Speaker 3 (50:18):
A cliche question for you, ga, which French team is
going to turn up? Who knows it's the D team
because it is up there. They've got their final this weekend.
Speaker 15 (50:26):
Yeah no, no DuPont he's not coming down, So Ramos
not a But as we know, we played this the
B French team a few years ago and they can
be pretty handy and pretty tricky to deal with.
Speaker 12 (50:37):
This is the Dave renni era.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
Yes, forget you know, new team coming together.
Speaker 15 (50:41):
So much anticipation, test and always for the all blacks rusty.
Speaker 3 (50:46):
All yeah every year.
Speaker 15 (50:48):
Oh you wait till the headlines a little bit rusty. Yeah,
the combinations aren't quite there yet.
Speaker 3 (50:52):
Did they win in the right way? That's going to
be the headlines that.
Speaker 15 (50:55):
The right way for news going as is fifty zerl.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
Yeah, that's that. It's like there were seventy points out
there on the table.
Speaker 15 (51:02):
I can't see fifty happening there, No, hell no, no,
but under them under the roof though running rugby.
Speaker 3 (51:08):
Geez, French like to play running rugby.
Speaker 15 (51:10):
Oh sometimes they too like to take it up the
gats even now and then stick your finger in your butt.
Speaker 1 (51:17):
Okay, all right, so much sometimes standing down here at
the right there, we're right there again.
Speaker 6 (51:26):
Almost did it so close.
Speaker 2 (51:28):
Jerry and the hot Key Breakfast.
Speaker 3 (51:32):
Last week we had a little bit of an impromptu
on your Brainstorm, which we're told as broadcasters not to do.
Keep the abman off here.
Speaker 2 (51:40):
With.
Speaker 3 (51:41):
We tried, but we've made a career out of it.
I know we fail. It's out almost all the time,
to be honest. We don't even talk to each other
on the songs about we fail every day there. Yeah, yeah,
we only do our I mean here we are now,
we're doing it right now.
Speaker 4 (51:54):
We're not supposed to do that.
Speaker 3 (51:55):
No, Like that was the whole idea of the show.
I mean it has become that. But no, the higher
ups are like, please, can you stop with the punishing
admin on here because it's so boring to people. Why
don't you go and do the edmin off here and
then come back once you figured it out. Do you
think the higher ups wanted us talking about that on
air as well? No, okay, I don't know. I don't
(52:16):
think so, And yet here we are. Yeah, but look,
at least in this instance, the the the admin that
we're bringing on here is definitely worth it. And it
was the only brainstorm. The other day was about social media,
and I had an idea that I don't know, I've
never seen an Instagram page put stuff up in three D.
(52:40):
I'd like to make our Instagram page the first ever
three D page. And so what we would do is
we'd film our videos such as they are, and then
put them in the little red green effect, like like
remember when you used to get magazines of like dinosaurs
and stuff, and they would come with the three D
glasses you put them on. You're like, oh, trust your tops.
Two D. It's the best, it's the best. It's the best.
(53:02):
So I want to do that with us. So we
just do our normal videos, like we're interviewing John Knoxville
or whatever, but it's in three D. Yeah, and then
we send out people hodak you branded three D glasses
and if you're a listener of the show, follow up
the page whatever you get sent out a pair of
three D glasses. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Well, we talked about it on Friday and Ruda and
I remember, but young for you MEI you were too young.
But when we were growing up, Gorilla at Large played
on a Sunday night. It was a television event. It
was the television of the end of the year. It
was like this new three D movie had come out,
and you bought your glasses from KFC, and you got
it with a bucket of the twenty four piece pat
(53:38):
You get yourself your free glasses, or you can purchase them,
and you watch the movie on the Sunday night. I'm
told huge ratings, and I thought to myself before I
watched it, I.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Was like, Wow, this new three D movie. When I
watched it, I realized it wasn't that new. Haven't listened
to the trailer.
Speaker 13 (53:56):
Where's at Large? He's in the asles, in the balcony, everywhere.
Get out of his way before it's too late. Nothing
like this ever came through before. In red and in technicolor,
Gorilla at Large.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
Now, that film there, Gorilla at Last, nineteen eighty nine
in New Zealand. That film, we watched that on TV
nineteen eighty nine.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
What year did it come out?
Speaker 4 (54:20):
Ruder nineteen fifty four, nineteen fifty four.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
And this was a pretty exclusive back in those days.
You say New Zealand wasn't behind the times in the
nineteen eighties.
Speaker 3 (54:28):
Only thirty years behind, thirty five years behind. Gorilla at Large.
I remember watching it. Wow, this is old. They were
still doing the transatlantic accent back then. Yeah, Gorilla at Las. Yeah,
so I think. Look, I stand by this. I've had
time to ruminate on it. I've run it past a
couple of people whose opinions I trust, and I still
think the red green three D glasses is a good idea.
(54:50):
I don't know who the hell would make those? Does
anyone know if someone could get in touch three for
eight three? Does anyone know someone who would have the
technology to make that?
Speaker 1 (54:58):
I feel like we could make it at home with
with some card and some celophone and some cell phone too. Celophone,
it's a cellophone and some pipe cleaners and some sticky tape.
Speaker 3 (55:09):
Okay, Well, if someone could go and get some pipe cleaners,
some cellophone and some sticky tape. We'll have an arts
and craft sessions tomorrow. Then we'll need to figure out
how to make the video itself. I don't know how
that works. If anyone's got any expertise in this, can
you either give us a text or if you can,
get into the conclave the private Facebook page and let
us know. If you've got a contact in the three
D glasses industry, reach out Jeremy.
