Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Hierarchy Breakfast thanks to Bunnings Trade built big rewards
with new power pass pro rewards by Bunnings.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hi, let's do this, Jerry and Mini the Hurerarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Welcome along to the Hierarchy Breakfast. Monday, the tenth of
August twenty twenty six, a third of the way through August. Already,
what a weekend that was. My name's Jeremy Wells. Is
my nice jell?

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Just there. We're having a look at our calendars. See
if the All Blacks who were playing their first Test
against South Africa this weekend they are not. They've got
the cause of lludinant dooll Sharks, featuring one Mao who
has been named on the bench for them at eighty
four years old. We were trying to think, is there
any All Black that would be playing that would have
played with him? Buden Barrett might have, oh.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
In two thousand and twenty fifteen, baby.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Yeah, maybe go body. But other than that, I don't know.
I don't think so Anton let it Brown perhaps.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Twenty fifteen, I'm sure was playing. In twenty fifteen he
must have been. He was Simon Connor Smith with Combo's.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Yeah, last test that world Cup Final Conor Smith, and I'm.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Pretty sure it was. I feel like it was. It
may have been. Jeez, that's crazy, that is crazy. I
can see what I was watching body playing on the weekend.
I think you'd mentioned something about like he's got nothing
in common with the twenty one year olds and the
team anymore. You know, sometimes you're in a workplace and
you look around and all your mates have left, and
you go, oh, jeez, it's got real young around here,

(01:29):
real quick. I remember Karen Reid saying that to me once.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
He was like, I knew it was time to retire
when I when I had absolutely zero in common worth
pretty much most of the team. Yeah, and that'd been
playing PlayStation games, and he was like, I don't know
what these PlayStation games are.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
I don't know what songs you're listening. So forwards were
in colorful boots. Yep, it's time for me to go.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, I'm taking a different bus to the game. I
don't want to hang out with these people anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, I know that you're an upset about the Inky
song the other day.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Oh my god, was I the first song of was
it Friday Morning? It was first song on Friday Morning?
And is ancibus are you? And I thought it myself.
We can't kick off the show like this anymore. We've
got to stop it. So I wanted to kick off
the show this morning with the song that I chose,
and then you said, well, hot on, why are you
kicking off? Why don't we get to decide who checks off?

Speaker 2 (02:19):
That's right? Which seems right to me. So he's going
to take off the He's going to take the check
off this morning.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Yeah, why do we take it to the listeners?

Speaker 2 (02:25):
One call?

Speaker 1 (02:26):
So the first person to call through on eight hundred headache,
eight hundred and four to eight, that is the number,
can decide which song kicks off the show, between your
song and my song?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
All right, early doors, Early doors to be getting people
to call it. Let us we've got we got Robin
on the line already. Robin, you haven't even heard the
songs yet. Do you want to hear what songs are
first before you just go ahead and vote for Jerry.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
Yeah, I got to choose a song on.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
You, Robin. Okay, here's my song. It's Mountain Song by
Jane's Addiction. Now for me, it's a great song to
get things started in the morning, particularly on a Monday morning.
What's yours songernight?

Speaker 2 (03:07):
It's a little bit too heavy for me. I want
naive by the cooks. I just want to ease into
it this morning, Jerry, Well, Robin, it's your choice from
Mount Long and know what song do you want to kick.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Off the show where James Addition is my favorite bed?

Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah? Every chance?

Speaker 5 (03:28):
Yours mate?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Oh? Absolutely? I love James Addiction and I love this song.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
Good on your Robin, thanks for calling it and thanks
for listening to the Hidache Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Good day.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
Jerry and Leni the hich Breakfast.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
To the rounds.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Having a look around at temperatures around the place, because
this morning when I was driving in foggy, yeah, foggy
and Tammacky Makoto.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Will give us a clue, what is the temperature? And
THOMMACKI mkoda this morning warm nine. Yeah. I didn't feel
like that this morning though, but I was grateful not
to have frost on the windscreen and and just water
you know, yeah, that's that's handy. You can just put
the windscreen wipers on your way. Well, what happens?

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Because of course we're talking about Swift Justice last week,
which is your alter ego crime fighting vigilante who is
a mild mannered radio hose by morning and by mid
morning you're off and got a lot of time on
your hands.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
So if there.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Are any kind of minor altercations, then swift Justice can
get called and you turn up in your Suzuki Swift.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Well, unless my neighbors box the Suzuki Swift then outside
my house. Or if there's too much ice on the windscreen,
then I might be a little bit late because I've
got to scrape the bloody ice off the thing.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, and sometimes it takes too long, so you've just
got to create a windscreen burger. But what happens in
fog because you don't have GPS, So it's another issue
for swift Justice.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I've got what even my GPS, I've got maps on
my phone. Well, yeah, but.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
It's tricky with the phone and then you're trying to dry.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Oh yeah, then you play. If I get pulled over
by the cops and they're like, what are you able
to I'm I'm on my way to deliver vigilante justice
from the front seat of a Swift. They should know
that because you're just in a pair of undies with
a with a with an with two's around a sort
of an eyeband yeah, I've.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Never thought of swift justice getting pulled over by the
cops that.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
One of you.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeahinally get pulled over by the cops.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
On hundred percent. Well, particularly when I was driving around
without a waft for a couple of months there.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
Yeah, and you haven't got a tail light that's not working,
so yeah, get that sort of yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
But anyway, this morning it was fine. Just had to
one the window down, rub my hand frantically against the
wing mirror just to make sure that I could because
you know, when there's a bit of water on the
windscreen and the wing mirror and the window, you look
in there, there could be a car right beside you,
right behind you. You don't know. All you can see is
these bright yellow lights. So yeah, I had to stick

(05:50):
my head out the window. Sorry, just gonna switchlanes otherwise
I'll get stuck on the off ramp.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
There's always a good opportunity this when we do the
rounds for some places to I don't know, shine, and
I would say this morning Wellington absolutely sensational. The high
today the warmest place currently in New Zealand is Wellington.
Wellington and then Parmers North as well eleven and both
Wellington and Parmerston North and also the chats Is eleven. Wow,

(06:17):
I wouldn't have I would not have picked the Chats. No,
you definitely wouldn't pick that warm and christ Just this morning.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
Eight I passed on to me from a stock agent
in the South Island. Apparently they bring some of the
cattle over from the from the Chattam Islands and they
are wild, yes and yeah, and they're out the gate
and it's like they gott to bring them in the
yards very early on the day of the sales so that
they can try and calm them down as much as possible,

(06:42):
because yeah, otherwise it's like, oh we had a stock
sale or a rodeo. There's things aging. These things are
going nuts. And then he's like to be fair though
you know, you probably wouldn't go too good with the
Northwestern in your face for twenty four hours a day.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
No, well, there's that, and also the fact that they
feed on special Chattham Island wild grass, native grasses of
chattera miland different. I watched the country Calendar on it
just the other day really, and so the Chatham Islands
grass is quite different than the than the European grasses.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah here, okay, we'll riddle me this. I want to
test my theory. I've got a working theory that the
temperature in kite tier. Oh yes, I like that. This
is this is a proprietary Monika special. I don't know
if anyone else has ever drawn this link, but there
is a direct correlation between the temperature and Kaitier and
the temperature of Dunedin. No one's ever thought of this

(07:31):
theory before. Can we test it? Pleased? This morning?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Jerry, kait tire currently nine degrees okay, Dan currently.

Speaker 6 (07:40):
Nine?

Speaker 7 (07:42):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (07:45):
Something at last week? Yeah, hell, I can't understand that.
That's crazy. Have they got the Have they got the
thermometer in a weird place in both those towns? Is
it in the coldest part of Kaiti and the warmest
part of down It it's out someone's ass and both players.
There's a glitch in the matrix. That's what it is.

(08:09):
Nine degrees up your eart. It was this morning.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
Jerry and Mini the hold Ikey breakfast.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Talking earlier about some of the players now and who
they played with and against. Because of course, MARTINU is
going to be playing up against the All Blacks team.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
He's forty four.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Yeah, and he's now playing professional Rubia in South Africa,
still playing Martin Yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
Not Martin on his son isn't playing against the All
Blacks this week. Mar himself yep eth agin who in
the team would have played with him? Because was his
last game for the All Blacks the twenty fifteen Grand Final.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
I think there were a whole lot of guys who
retired after the twenty fifteen World Cup Final at Twickenham.
I think you've got your Richie McCaw's, your Jerome Kaino's,
your Conrad Smith's, your Martinano's, you're Dan Carter's. I think
all those guys retired. I'm pretty sure after that game. Yeah,

(09:07):
and I yeah, so, I'm sure I was that. So
the only person that I can look at that Boden
Barrett came off the bench.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah, that was the go Botie game.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah baby, he he came off the bench in that game.
And of course body's still playing now.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
But he's the oldest of all of the All Blacks
now is he thirty four?

Speaker 2 (09:25):
Not that old thirty four that's got young thirty five.
I think he's thirty five. Five, thirty five could be anything,
you know.

Speaker 3 (09:34):
World at his feet, so the stuff it just begun.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Yeah, thirty five is the new twenty five. He hasn't aged.
He still looks exactly like he looked when he was
twenty one. Yeah, yeah, he wouldn't fellow it. No, I'm
sure it doesn't. But yeah, no it is. It would
only be him that would have played with Manor that's
still in the current All Black squad. Yeah, I don't
think of any I mean, I know Brady Retlic's still

(09:59):
going around. We're till bat offirs before if he came back, potentially,
are you not coming back? You're not coming back. They're
not coming back.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
He's having Japan making so much money.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
I think wasn't for most of the season last year
he was the leading tri scorer in that Japanese rugby.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Yeah, we can imagine that monster playing in Japan, and
he's clarious as well.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
Like.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
But also I'm pretty sure I was told by people
in the know that now Japan is the place that
has the highest paid rugby players. Oh and a lot
of the lot of the locks of the highest paid,
those big units are the highest pay that in the ten.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Yeah, and those are your spots and then props, not
necessarily the highest paid, but it's a it's not something
you can just pluck out anywhere, you know, not anyone.
Anyone could, any talented football player could play most of
the backline positions. You can't be a tight head prop
unless you're a tight head prop. It's a brutal position.
A bit of money to be made there, Yeah, No,
I have heard of of All Blacks playing second division

(10:54):
Japanese rugby and that being the biggest contract they had
in their career, so it's crazy. Yeah, Boden Barrett playing
his mtton on it.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
That was a great team, that twenty fifteen Rugby World
Cup winning team.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Man Moody Coles Franks for telling White lock Cano McCaughan Reid.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
There's the best loose for a combination of all time
for the All Blacks.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Yeah, Smurth DC, MA Conrad near him and a scudder
and Julian Sava on the wings and been from accounts
of Pullback, Jerry and the.

Speaker 6 (11:25):
Night the hold Icky Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Six thirty one time for your later sport headlines. Thanks
to export Old to the Bear for heir the Springboks
have reportedly called in a veteran out of the wilderness
for the series against the All Blacks. Open side flanker
Dion Free has reportedly been called up as they are
weight word on the injury of captain Sia Khalisi for
returns forty next month. Dan a hardened South African forty

(11:54):
year old. Yeah, he played an instrumental role for the
Stormers as they frustrated the visit it is for more
than an hour and the tour opener.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yeah they did. I mean frustrated us.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
For everyone did. It was a frustrating game. That field
looked really good. What a great stadium. His last test
was against the All Blacks in the twenty twenty three
World Cup Final where.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
He came on a hooker.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
Meanwhile, oh my, oh my god, Billy Proctor's returning from
South Africa with a fractioned shoulder blade set to roll
him out.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
For twelve weeks, So what's going to happen?

Speaker 1 (12:25):
This opens the door to Richie Muwanga, who could be
invited over as a replacement.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
This is the conspiracy theory that I've been running for
a long time. I didn't think it would be Billy Procter.
But I've been saying Richie Wang and when we named
the team, he couldn't be named in the All Blacks.
He needed to play one game of NPC. He's done that,
He's won two, actually won the Ramfilly Shield on the weekend.
And then we needed an injury crisis. And I was saying,
if I was the selector, the ball selector, I would

(12:53):
have I've picked a sacrificial lamb and said, hey, mate,
congratulations you're an All Black. How's your hamstring feeling?

Speaker 1 (12:58):
When the crowd said bought elecked and bottom plays in.
George Elawara have beaten fourth ranked Cranulla twenty four to
sixteen to wrap up Round twenty three of the NRL.
The Panthers and the Roosters maintain the top two spots,
with the Wars and standalone third Sharks, Dolphins, Knights and
Rabbit O's and Cowboys make up the top eight with

(13:19):
four weeks remaining. Knights beat the Raiders thirty twenty four
to win Canberra's chants at a playoff spot. I imagine
Rocky Sturty, we got completely nuts. The storm also out
of contention.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
It must be so hard. A minute is We've been
in this situation as Warriors fans before. But when you
are knocked out quite early doors and can't make the
playoffs anymore, I think you learn a lot about a
club when they're in that situation.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
You It's probably not so bad for the players though,
because they get to play a little bit and there's
you know.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
That's there's a job for these guys. It is, but
some of them will be like, have it bugged? Really? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (13:55):
That was a whole of the Broncos team uster winning.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
After the winning the championship, it's a good boy.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I'm looking at it in the dock here and it says,
what's a coracle? The benefits of a coracle? I don't
know what the hell a coracles? I don't think I've
ever seen that word before.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
I had neither, but it loomed large over my weekend.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Didn't he used to coach the Augland Steve Coracle? Oh man?

Speaker 1 (14:21):
My whole weekend was coracle focused.

Speaker 6 (14:24):
Jerry and Night, the Hotarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
So me and my family at the moment, we're watching
a Loan season three. It's on TVNZ Plus, not mad this.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
Is the Is this the one where they dropped them?
Off in the wilderness. They're going to survive and it's
the one where they ate a wiker done in Fiordland
or something.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Yeah, unfortunately they did in alone season in New Zealand,
but realize that it's nothing to eat in New Zealand.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Yeah, man, pre European Maori. Boy, they did a good job.
I think we ate it all. They did a real
good job because cleaned the fridge.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
You basically had birds and dogs and and that was
like if you're if your coastal were all good. But
it turns out you can't just survive on fish because
you actually need more fat than that. So you learn
quite a lot watching alone in this situation they've been
dumped in the Arctic, and that they mainly get dumped
in the arct deck because obviously the Arctic's massive and

(15:19):
there's lots of places.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Easier to go to can walk there. So what do
you eat in the Arctic? Beaver? There's a lot of
eating beaver. A lot of people do, a lot of
people doing that in the subtropics. The beaver is very fatty.
Beavers are quite big. Hang on, mate, he's all right.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
But the beaver's super popular here. They eat a lot
of here, a lot of beaver. They do a lot
of trapping, a.

Speaker 2 (15:47):
Lot hear a lot of beaver, and a lot of
trapping sounds like your twines. And then there's a bit
of fishing, but the fishing is not as successful, and
there's a most every now and then. Jesus good, oh mate.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
But the problem is when you get a moose, you've
got to process the moose, and the most takes a
lot of energy to process. And what you realize is
energy and energy out when you're trying to survive in
the act.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
That it's like calorie negative because of butchering and most.
That's quite a big ass way bigger than you think. Man,
they're a big animal. The other funny, So it's why
name my cat most beautiful Animal. Always cracked them out.
They just got a funny look on their face. Yeah,
Jaberson's Rocky and Bullwinkle. I was like, what a crazy animal.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
Vow charger, Oh the charger, bell charger.

Speaker 2 (16:28):
If they if they need to, if they're walking across
the road at night, you can just about drive your
car under one. I think.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Yeah, yeah, so we end up killing the moosse as
important because obviously then you've got to cart all that
stuff back to your back to your shelter.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
You go to try and lure it back to the
base camp and then.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
Yeah, they can't really do that. It's so much like involved.
But one of the contestants is so all the contestants
are from different places. Poldy, he's from New Zealand as
a New Zealand twenty four from hook.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
A ticker give him the tap. Oh great, he's good man.

Speaker 1 (16:59):
He goes hunting and he goes hunting and bere feet
but he does like he's an impressive dude, Like he's great.
He's a really nice person because he end up talking
to the camera a lot because.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
You record yourself.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
So you've got a camera and you're wandering around and
you've got to do all your own filming and you
get dropped in there.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
I think they do every two weeks. They do.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Some people turn up in a boat and they just
health check you to make sure you're okay. Two weeks
there for well, for as long as they can be.
I'm currently up to I think we're up to episode
six and it's day thirty eighth.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
I know.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
And what happens is you actually go crazy, so that's
the main problem is talking to yourself and missing people.
Because people these people are quite good survivalists. They can
survive for quite a long time on Beaver, mainly because
there's a lot of fat. Anyway, this one guy, Andrew,
he's from Wales, because they're from different parts of the
world in this one, and he is an outdoor specialist.

(17:57):
He sort of treats everything like it's like he's doing
some kind of YouTube tutorial.

Speaker 8 (18:02):
So Andrew Price for a lone Season thirteen the World Championship.
It's widely regarded as being the most challenging and authentic
survival series ever produced. The aim of the game is
for ten participants to be dropped into a remote wilderness
environment where they have to survive for as long as possible. Now,
in order to complete that challenge, participants are allowed to
choose ten items from a wide number of authorized items.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Is that just like a diary cam? He's talking to him,
He's he's welcoming you into a football game. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Well, in the weekend he got to a point where
he built this thing called a coracle. And I've never
heard of a coracle as a Welsh a Welsh water
craft made out of wika and then you make it
water proof and then it's sort of tiny, like a
tiny miniature little rowboat thing like a bath, and then
you take it across a lake or something and then

(18:55):
you fish from it. A coracle. It comes from the
comes from the Welsh routrule.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
C w R w g L no vowels, no vows.
And so what he's made this does it look like
the straw Bunning's hat in front of us upside down?

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Basically it was an upside down Bunning's hat, and and
he took it across this lake because he was like,
I need to be able to get it. Turns out
the lake was actually only knee deep the whole time,
and so he was he couldn't actually get the coracle
to move because it was stuck on the bottom the
whole time.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
But he wanted you to know he could make it.
Make a coracle, so very very cool.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
This is for me that we all we could talk
about in our family was coracles all week in. So
I think we should make a show coracle a coracle.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
Okay, And you went to it, well, I don't know
how to make one. I've never seen it before. And
then can we wait till summer. No, this is the thing.
It's got to be winter.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
And I think we just take it across the Hurdache Golf,
you and me and an open.

Speaker 6 (19:56):
Jerry and Mini. They breakfast.

Speaker 2 (19:59):
You know, we're off obviously, always looking at ways to
promote this show. I thought of another one. Actually one
was presented to me over the weekend. For one reason
or another. I ended up in Sethlement And while we're there,
pucked up at a cafe to have a bit of
a feed, and a gang of youths road pass on
their bikes with all their sirens on. Oh have you

(20:20):
seen these if you would have seen the siren dudes.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
I've seen the siren dudes. And were they on like
some kind of e bike things?

Speaker 2 (20:27):
But they were they pulling wheelies? They were some of
them were pulling wheelies. I don't know if they were
e bikes or not, because I think they need the
battery power for the speakers. And they just had like
a rays of sirens that they'd quite clearly flogged from
a nearby school. And then they play.

Speaker 1 (20:42):
Speakers on these things like the music doesn't sound great.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
It's so tenny, and they play things like you know,
Celene Dion and these kinds of songs on it. It's
not songs that you would think that they would play
because they like, they can look quite intimidating in these
packs of you know, bikers. But then some of the
songs they're playing ridiculous. And as they were coming past,
I was like, this would be a good little promotional

(21:06):
thing for a radio station because they are riding around
playing noise so definitely loud that you can't help but
turn around and look at them. Some people have them
on the cars. A couple of cars drove past had
the same thing and you immediately turn your head and
then you go to turn their bloody rerack it off.
And I thought, well, how do we embed ourselves in
the siren community and get them to play Radio Hdarchy

(21:29):
on the on their sirens or even just the podcast.
So they take the Hidachy Breakfast Highlights podcasts of us
talking about like coracles, yes for you know, ten minutes,
and then they just blast that around the streets of
South Aukland.

Speaker 1 (21:44):
Well, it would be interesting, particularly if it was more
a film, it was more talking like you had more
of an am sort of a sound.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
Well, it would it'd be so tinny and crackly, and
it would make absolutely no sense, but people would, I
don't know, people would sit up and pay attention.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
I remember years ago, maybe two years ago, this trend
began and there were a whole lot of people that
were parking up. I believe it was on a bridge
in Mangot It may have been the old Mangoty Bridge.
It used to be a one lane each way, which
still exists so you can still go along and in
the Monaco Harbor, and there were a whole lot of

(22:20):
residents that were complaining because, yeah, people were turning up
with their cars with what were considered what old house
speakers from back in the day, those wooden ones with
the fake outside and the weird fronts to them.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
You'd often get them in the brand name like pie
p Ye.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Or National, and it was driving residents crazy. So my
concern would be if we were to recruit these people
as some kind of promotion device, would actually it worked
the other way around and wind people up, because for
some reason, there's nothing that winds a boomer up more
than a person riding around on a bike with playing music.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Yeah, or often they'll be the you know, there's loud
hailo things that were set up on the corners of
schools to call kids back in from lunchtime. They steal
those news days. Yes, I wonder if that's part of
the appeal of the siren community. Is pissing boomers off?
Because we all know there's nothing more fun than pissing
a boomer off, And so is that why they picked
the most punishing songs possible? And if that is, what's

(23:23):
more punishing than playing a podcast of just dudes talking totally?
I mean that would drop the boomers up the wall.
That would well, that'd be interesting.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Actually, I mean if you maybe if people were playing
z B yeah, maybe people would love it.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
So someone's taxed through three four O three. Hey if
I either bite kids play ship music for the same
reason the helmets with speakers on the cars songs with
heaps of trouble and no bas so you can hear
the quality of the speakers apparently, is the point there?

Speaker 1 (23:52):
When you say quality, you mean the lack of quality
in the speaker, Yes, the lack of quality.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
And how shrill are I love the fact that this
trend exists because it's such a weird one. You never
could have.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Ever predicted it because before this was all about surely
having the best sound, and this is actually about having
the worst sound.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Well, I think it'd be the ultimate test for these
sirens is can they play spoken word media audio?

Speaker 6 (24:17):
Jerry and Mania, The Hodarchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the
niastu it the Hodarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
We are all about to be a part of the
first ever a radio first as Ruda has brought along
into the studio this morning some of his hair growing
peptides which is currently injecting into his forehead.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
The pettics man, this is the first time I've seen them, obviously,
I got served the ad the other day. And the
ad that I got served was like at AI thing.
We played the audio last week. It was really blowing.
The AI ad that I saw. It's even blurer in
real life. That is that is deep crazy.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yeah, it comes in an interesting box, doesn't it. So
it's a box and I'm counting six. They look like
there's twenty four.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Little little.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Glass vials, I guess you call them, but they're quite thick.
They're about as thick as a finger. Yes, big is
your little finger. Probably each file and it's got a
little screw top on the top of it.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
It's glass. How many meals we put in there?

Speaker 3 (25:22):
Maybe fifty ten, five five miles only five miles.

Speaker 2 (25:26):
See the five or fifteen? I can't tell that. It's
so bloody blue, I can't read it.

Speaker 1 (25:30):
And that so they come in a little in a
little box. It looks like a chocolate box really, and
and they all lined up there quite nicely.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
I mean, the.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Presentation is quite quite pretty, isn't it.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
And then there's another bit here that's wrapped in plastic
and this is the is that the needle?

Speaker 3 (25:44):
That is that is the microphone needles And of course
that's the most important part of this process. So I
have opened the vial, which is of course medically sealed.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
What does the smell good? Question?

Speaker 3 (25:57):
Smells like a hospital? Tenth oh right now? Hospital was
like Parmesan North Hospital?

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Does it? Can I smell it?

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Be careful, Jerry, This is about twenty seven dollars worth
of piptop.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
Yeah, subtle. That didn't smell like anything. Well, you wouldn't
want it to, okay, So then you so you get
the vial, then you get the plastic micro needle.

Speaker 3 (26:19):
Bit so then I got to tip it into this
jar which is obviously a tricky situ.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
Oh my god, yeah, can I not just oh my god,
what he's going to tip it from one vial into another.

Speaker 3 (26:28):
Why isn't that just in that vial to start with,
because this is the medically sealed vial. And then you've
got to put it into the other bottle so you
can put the micro needle that must use it on
the top.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Must be hard when your hands are operated like a marionette.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Yeah, I mean it's not that easy.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
No, It's quite small and delicate, and you've got huge hands.

Speaker 3 (26:48):
And then the next part of this is you've got
to grab yourself some form of suvieedle paper tap. You
just got to dab the micro needles just to activate them,
like getting a penny. And now you need see a
little bit of blue on that like a.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
Liquid gets into the chalk. That's just looks like a
Colgate ad. It's that same time.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
This is not an ad, although reach out Chinese research peptides.
And then all you need to do.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
Just like you're about to drink, drink out.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
I'm just looking for my camera so I can actually
because normally I do it in the mirror.

Speaker 2 (27:22):
And four heads are just going to take the old
the old headphones. You don't want to grow here out
of the well.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Yeah, have you tried it on a test patch of
like your Yeah, I've tried it. So the idea then, yeah,
as you look for that, you look for does thet
parts here, No, it's not. I mean he's been brave
where it's mainly scared, and so you are.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
You're dabbing it around the heirline, around the front of
the heirline there through the widow's peak.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
Look for your weak spot so I know there's a
little one at the back there.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
Actually could you do is? Could you do us? Oh
my god, now it's strubbling down your four.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Year Well, I mean that happens a little because there's
quite a bit of liquid.

Speaker 1 (28:01):
And it so does it?

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Actually that does it get into the skin? Is that
what the little needles are for?

Speaker 3 (28:06):
Yeah, that's micro needling, Jerry. There's a number of podcasts
about it. If you do a little bit of your
own research, which is obviously what I've been doing, because
you do.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Oh yeah, it feels good.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
It's actually starting to feel good now you know, it.

Speaker 3 (28:17):
Feels it actually feels quite nice.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
And am I doing it?

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Right in the middle of your head, like there's there's
a lot of you've got it. By the way, can
I just say you've got a lot of here, like
you know, that doesn't seem to.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
Me that you just to have more though than they.
I think it might be.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah, is it actually making it fall out?

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Well?

Speaker 3 (28:34):
I think, as Kate Briton said to me in the
office the other day, for your age, you've actually got
quite a bit of hairlift. And I thought that's a
real drive by Kate. Yeah, shout out to you people
like you are the reason I'm doing this, just driving
you to peptidst She drove me to the big ground
slim down last year.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
And it now looks like you're sweating blue stuff only
about halfway than it's coming down here. It's coming down
your brow.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
He looks like you know when a guy's got a
bad dye job and starts sweating real hard and the
die starts running down his forehead. The Rudy Giuliani, Yeah,
you're juliani ing this morning. So the idea is.

Speaker 3 (29:05):
You've got to start with clean here, clean and dry
head and scalp and here, okay, and then because oh
because otherwise the peptides can't activate man, obviously, So all
of that.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Liquid, all that five miles, which actually looked like quite
a bit, is now inside your head.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
It is inside my skin.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
You actually have read but around that so.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
It was actually breaking Jerry, obviously.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
You're it looks like you're aggravating the skin.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
No, no, no, it's not. It's really probably the jingxing
in it and the lettres route and the caffeine is
all activating along the hairline.

Speaker 2 (29:45):
I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Can we do an experiment? Can you do like an eyebrow?

Speaker 2 (29:52):
No, I do like a heirless part of your forearm,
And so if it starts going out of that, yeah, let's.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
See but around your watch or something, because I.

Speaker 2 (30:00):
Think that would be quite all right.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Well, I mean I'm already what three weeks in.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Yeah, they must be starting to see results on control patch,
because you've got to have a week off soon, don't you.

Speaker 2 (30:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
I think I do one more next week and then
I've got then I've got a week off.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
You'll hear his heir is now wet and there's like
one drip coming down the middle of his forehead. Zoe's
filming it with their phone and she can't look at
her phone while she's filming it.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
The idea of it obviously then because you know there's
quite a bit in it, and so afterwards there's quite
a bit of liquid and you hear and then you
just give that a good old give that a good
old rub, just message it in there. We've lost so
a couple of tecks coming that through. Richard says, Rudy,
you're beautiful, just the way you are. That's Gareth says,
can we just book them a ticket to Turkey already?

(30:47):
And Matt says, peptide chat sounds like a real pilarva.
I think I'll just continue on with my balding chairs.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
Okay, So now Rudy's got the headphones back on. It
is that it, the vial's done.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
It is big Sandy's in here next. I hope she
doesn't get the keep tights on it. Oh, I've got
them all over the desk.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
And that's once a week, ruder.

Speaker 3 (31:07):
Yeah, normally on a Saturday, on a Sunday night. I
thought i'd give you guys a truth. It was a
truth to world Firth.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
It's like cutting your fingernails. You don't want to do
it on Sunday.

Speaker 2 (31:16):
But you've got quite an inflamed for it now.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
As it's gone red in blue Jerry.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
In the night, the breakfast.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Is Owen from the White of Upod Morning, Owen, welcome.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
To the show.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Yeah, morning guys, how's going good?

Speaker 2 (31:32):
How can we help you this morning? Owen?

Speaker 5 (31:33):
Yeah, Jerry, you just said something just before it went
to the song there that caught my ear. You said
you don't want to cut your nails on a Sunday.
And growing up there was a bit of a fairly
supersition in our family, and I just wondered where you
got it from.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Well, it was the same in my family, Owen, and
I don't know where we got it from, but there
were there were the big three in my family. There
were My family was not a religious family, but we
we were not allowed to cut our toenails on a Sunday.
We were not allowed to open an umbrella inside, and
we were not allowed to walk under a ladder. Yep,
we have three things, but I can't think of anything.

(32:13):
And I've got an umbrella, don't you, dear.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
I've found an umbrella.

Speaker 9 (32:18):
Why?

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Why? What was the Sunday I've got?

Speaker 5 (32:21):
I don't I don't know my dad had grown up
with it so from his parents, and then my mom.
This is a funny thing. When we were kids. My
mom used to go, no, it's rubbish. It's rubbish and
che cuto nails. And there's a true story. Our cat
died the next day and it's my sister and I
all along said you killed the cat, you killed me.
We still say it now and then now my like

(32:43):
my my wife's absolutely ever knitballer, and my girls are
all nitballers. And if anyail clippers turn up on a stone,
it's like you're not using them a You're definitely not
using them on a Sunday.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
It's a weird one.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
And I'm sure there's other people that have got exactly
the same thing. I'm concerned Owen and I's got this
umbrella and he's unhinged.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
He's unhinged. It bloody careful, don't we got happening this
week that I could potentially curse if the Warriors lose
this weekend? It's my fault. Here.

Speaker 6 (33:13):
Jerry and the Hotarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 10 (33:16):
Glorious, close out this guy.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Here's here's the last mid talk Medtalk.

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Having around.

Speaker 10 (33:24):
Glorious.

Speaker 11 (33:26):
Look begup, Welcome back.

Speaker 1 (33:29):
Some have said the first half of the Warriors game
against the Panthers is the best forty minutes of rugby
league the club have ever played.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Are they now legitimate title contenders? Yes, yes they are.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
I think I can answer that there are still third
favorites of the TB, but there's definitely a chance. And
Die Henward joins us in person as we speak, and
a man who was absolutely qualified to say whether or
not that was the best half of rugby league that
the club has ever played.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
Die, I think it was from woe to goo. It
was an indigenous round. There was an amazing fucker. I
was in the upper east stand recreating Parnier of the Reefs.
I had Bozzi's out. It was absolutely phenomenal. Going in

(34:20):
eighteen nil at halftime against Penris is something you can
only dream of. I mean, there are a lot of
regulars around me who have watched a lot of ups
and downs in Marior's history, and we were nervously excited
at halftime, and then we held on. In that second half.

(34:40):
It got pretty squeaky bum time and I thought that
the Penris were just going to pull out all the stops.
Nathan Cleary got a various Stute forty twenty. Things just
started going a bit crazy, but we held on and
we played amazing football.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
It actually couldn't gone any better from a like a
storyline perspective, because they did when they scored that first
try of the comeback, and you go, geez, hang on
a second, here are they going to have a correct
I saw you briefly die at halftime and despite the
fact that we were up eighteen zero, you were quite nervous.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Yes, I was because I was waiting for that Penrith comeback.
And you know when they did come back, Penris just
start playing so fast and we got slightly exposed down
left edge with Ali Latawa and Dwz. But I mean
that's just because the absolute class that Penrith bring Lekka

(35:41):
Halasima in the centers has been an absolute master stroke.
And we have to talk about Luke Metcalfe. I mean,
the guy's just been waiting. He's been biting his time
and cup and it seems whenever we need a half
back and a new halfback comes in, they absolutely drill it.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
I think they're breeding halfbacks and Penrose at the moment
Diehem would interestingly when he scored that first try. I
don't know if you saw it at the ground, but
he put the ball down and then he just outstretched
the arms in the crucifix position, closed his eyes and
just looked up towards the stand and just soaked in
the accolades. And after the game he was interviewed and

(36:22):
they said, what was actually going through your mind there?
That looked like have you forgotten about me? Personal Mount
Smart Stadium? And he said, that's exactly what I was doing.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
Well, he had something that I think Kiwis aren't quite
used to. It's like a positive arrogance. It's not a
negative thing. But like he said, look, I want that
number seven jersey for the rest of the year. That's
not him dissing to Marty Martin or anything. It's just
him having epic confidence. And I mean everyone in the

(36:58):
feeling in the water was going to step up. But
then even just like grabbing that try right at the end,
just that sort of put the icing on the cake.
And if you look at the game as a whole,
we had seven to three line breaks, We're running eighty
completion rate, we were playing really really solid football. We

(37:24):
conceded more penalty so it wasn't like the ref was
on our side. I mean, there was one of the
craziest forward passes I think I've ever seen in a
game of rugby league. But it was just the feeling
walking out of that stadium was amazing because that was
the moment that the Warriors when we can play finals.

(37:48):
The only stressful thing is it's such a tight competition.
We're in third. Next week the Roosters played Penrith, so
something's going to happen there. I think we'll stay in third,
but we have to keep winning because if we lose
a couple of games, we drop right back. We have
to keep winning.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
How do you think this plays out with like, let's
say Tomarty Martin's calf comes right, would you put him
back in or would you leave Luke mtcaff in? A
great question, MANI so.

Speaker 4 (38:18):
What anti Webster seems to be doing is a pure meritocracy.
So if you go in and you own that jersey,
you keep that jersey. I think it's actually going to
be hard for to Marty Martin to get back in
the number seven. If Luke Metcalf keeps playing like he does,
the word is it is another two weeks. So that'll

(38:41):
really give Luke Metcalf a chance to bet himself into
that number seven. And I think he'll stay there for
the rest of the year if he keeps this form.
But it's a bloody good problem to have. And to
Marty Martin, You've also got to remember is an awesome
a utility player, so he'll definitely find himself on the bench.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
Exciting times for the Warriors, Exciting times for Warriors fans.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
Thank you so much for your time this morning.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
Die headway.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
Oh I'm gonna just keep watching this game. You have
a bloody good week.

Speaker 6 (39:13):
Jerry and Mni The Urdarchy Breakfast daily bespoke content that
you won't find on the radio show The Hdarky Breakfast Podcast.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
It's time to play. It's academic. There's a one hundred
dollar Bunnings about trap for Grabs this morning. Give us
a call now, eight hundred HORDECHI eight hundred four to
eight seventy five. If you want to play, We'll ask
you five questions. You've got to get three correct. Forty
five seconds is how long you got to do it.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
You know, I'm just looking at the much faunted its
academic role of honor. Do you know who has won
this more than any other school in the country. What
school has won at Sacred Heart in Auckland. Oh, that's interesting,
four time champions. There's a few that are twos. There
are under to three and Sacred Heart is four.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Yeah, Shirley Boys is on there twice, isn't it. Totong
is on there twice, in Stratford High on there twice,
and Peter's Auckland in there twice as well.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Yes, there's a lot of schools not on there. No
one that is Saint Kittigin's and James joins us this morning.
You will be representing Saint Kent's this morning.

Speaker 12 (40:06):
Where it's the one.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
I see, James, So that's in Auckland High School. You
now live in Krossich. How often are you asked in
Krossich what high school you went to?

Speaker 7 (40:15):
Do?

Speaker 5 (40:17):
Pretty often?

Speaker 11 (40:17):
Nearly every person I mate?

Speaker 1 (40:19):
And does that confuse them when you say Saint Kenninggan's College. Yeah, yeah,
they can't quite place it.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
I don't know where that is. Yeah, it's not some
beads or stack.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
Yeah, it's really just a question trying to work out
how rich your parents were in it. That's question, Okay,
James here's the way that this works. We're going to
ask you five questions. You're just going to get three correct.
When the one hundred dollars Bunning's about.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
D I mean that's going to change the high school
your kids are going to attend.

Speaker 1 (40:49):
And James, the other part about it is you got
forty five seconds, so there's a time constraint. There's no
point in passing. Let's get into it. First question for James,
who directed the nineteen seventy five film Jaws.

Speaker 2 (41:04):
Ah Bilbert, that's right.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
Who did Grant Elliott hit for six to win the
twenty fifteen Cricket World Cup semi final.

Speaker 11 (41:12):
Ooh, Dane yep, just as Dane, Phil and Claire Dumpy
have children named Luke, Alex and Hayley.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
And what TV comedy series easy? Oh?

Speaker 1 (41:30):
Name one of the artists behind the twenty twenty five
hit single Die with a Smile?

Speaker 3 (41:35):
Sorry, repeat that.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
Name one of the artists behind the twenty twenty five
hit single Die with a Smile.

Speaker 2 (41:43):
Oh No, you're not going to be able to James.

Speaker 1 (41:46):
You were one away, ran out of time, just a
little bit slow.

Speaker 2 (41:50):
That was the only problem. Do you want to know
what the last question was? Yes, plase okay for non
pen is the capital of what country? I would have
got it.

Speaker 1 (42:03):
You would have got the timing for you, James.

Speaker 6 (42:08):
James, Jerry and Mini the hold I keep Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
If you're listening last week, you realize that we have
purchased two sharks. We now are the shareholding owners and
two sharks on the Great White app thanks to your generosity.

Speaker 2 (42:26):
Actually, well we will be. There's a little bit more
Edmund to do. So to be paid, I need to
be set up as a verified accounts So there's like
all sorts of like proving my identity and things like that.
So low I when it comes to Edmund and and
I stew It's something I've learned over the last couple

(42:48):
of weeks is dotting the i's and crossing the t's.
I'm doing it, doing it, but I just you don't
love I just hate it. Yeah, you know, I hate Edmund.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
I had it to Rude is normally the guy in
the show, and Ruder loves admin. He is an He's
bloody good at it and he loves it.

Speaker 3 (43:06):
I also love if I make a mistake to then
go back when it's too late and change the mistake.

Speaker 2 (43:11):
Oh, yeah, yeah, beautiful. You probably should have been doing this.
But anyway, as it stands, I am, but I've sent
an email to doctor Riley Ellott, who would be tagging
these sharks for us, and said, hey, mate, just working
on this admin in the meantime, we need to settle
on some names for these sharks.

Speaker 1 (43:26):
Appressure came on me over the weekend at she chatted
to a number of people. I was hosting the House
of the Year awards and a couple of I won.

Speaker 2 (43:35):
No, you didn't. Sorry.

Speaker 1 (43:37):
A couple of people came up to me and said
we just heard about the shark on Friday and they
wanted to donate. They were suggesting maybe going a third
shark sharks?

Speaker 2 (43:47):
Would that be jumping the shark?

Speaker 1 (43:50):
Perhaps Their suggestion was that it would turn into a shiver,
but we need to have a headache shiver.

Speaker 2 (43:55):
What I would what I would hate to happen, and
I really thought this was going to happen with Shark
two was if we fell short, that would be a
real real d shrinker. If they haven't, wouldn't But it didn't.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
Anyway, we've got to Yes, we've got two.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
And every everyone that donated could could cast a vote
for the names as well, and there's a few texts
have come through this morning, Burton Ernie because I think
initially when we when we the idea was we're only
going to get one shark. So the name's really changed
when when people realize we're going to get two, because
now they want them in some sort of theme like

(44:31):
for example, Burton Ernie or Mark Oh and Paul Oh
like Marco Polo, but they just called Mark and their
last name is Oh.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
I was a little slow on the uptake there.

Speaker 2 (44:44):
I see Benson and Hedges has been suggested. Shark Lundy's
big one.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Fast, Okay. I mean when we do think about naming it,
I suppose we've got to think about a couple of things.
Tone and style is important, Yeah, you know, is it
descriptive of the shark or is it a human name?
Is there some rules around the scientific naming of it?
Is it Latin?

Speaker 2 (45:10):
Is it Greek?

Speaker 1 (45:12):
Behavior in history? Is probably something we need to consider it.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
So you think maybe we need to give it like
you know, like when you name a child, Well, yeah,
you want to get a look at it.

Speaker 1 (45:21):
I think so, because oftentimes you do you have a
look at the you know, I mean, Rudy, you'll know this.
You've named two children in your life, and I've named
a couple as well, And we had a couple of
names lined up and then we were like, okay, well
these are these are the three that we've got ready
to go here, particularly when we named our first child,
and it's like and then you immediately look at them

(45:41):
and think, oh, yeah, they're not a yeah yeah yeah,
and you can just tell yeah something in it. I mean,
we need to probably have a look at the shark
that we're potentially going to be naming, or do we
name it before it's even born.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
Well, this is a good point. We don't necessarily have
a lot of time pressure on ourselves because we may
not be able to hag the shark to the breeding season,
which is December. So do we sit on this for
a bit or is that a bit anti climactic? A
couple of people have said Baine and David named the
second one Shark Nato Sharknate Doss because it's the second

(46:14):
one too.

Speaker 1 (46:14):
What is it with our listeners, because there's another one
that suggested one should be Scott the other should be Watson.
There seems to be a lot of this sort of
stuff going.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
Non Ewan Smith has just come through Foxy's Lady if
it's a girl. Oh yeah, uh, Foxy's Lady like that
Royal Sharkdale. Obviously, there's been a lot of votes with
the donations that came in for the Hog and Yoppers.
Neither Yoppers the shark or Holt the hog. I do
quite like that.

Speaker 1 (46:43):
Hog and Yoppers works quite well.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
We're we're in the because the question you've got to
ask each time is you know when we're going to
be talking about the shark, because I assume that we're
going to be following it around every now and then
and see where the shark is. Absolutely, we are both sharks,
so it's like where are hog in the opposite? Yes,
well hogs ever on the goal and your opposites down
in the fox straight Ye. I think that's the front runner.
I think that's the front runner. Jason and Stathan mm

(47:09):
hmm shark sharks Akin Hutch.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
Yeah, I see, I'd three for it three Jason thingy,
I mean, where'd we get to that?

Speaker 6 (47:22):
Jerry and the Night the Hold I Keep Breakfast.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
That has come to my attention, gentlemine, that one of
our ranks is looking to get into the radio industry.
Just one. How do they? How do they? I know?
I think I think it's you know this, this show
needs to be their main priority. She's still going the
best shio. If you wouldn't mind coming into the into

(47:45):
the main studio this morning to put people behind the curtain.
And in the industry, we have a thing it's called
an air check. We're subjected to one a week and
that's where you sit down with one of the higher
ups and they go through your performance and then they
give you a little bit of feedback. Doe was doing

(48:07):
show on ZiT in this weekend. One of the ladies
out in the kitchen sent through a video was tuning
into Zoe. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (48:14):
Came to attention that she was cheating on us and
peddling your weirs on another frequency.

Speaker 2 (48:20):
Yeah, that's right now. As as three you know qualified
brookwaw jaries not qualified but experience experiences case I take
experience qualified in mine and ruders. Well, she's actually more
qualified than Yeah. We thought this would be a good
opportunity to provide a bit of feedback and a bit

(48:41):
of direction for Zoe. I'll be totally honest. I thought
you guys had forgotten about this another Yes, I'm not
going to bring this up. I suspect this has happened
in the past with Zoe didn't want us to talk
about something. She deleted it out of the dock before
we got there, and we all forgot about it.

Speaker 1 (48:57):
And I think to keep this exactly you know, as
ear chicks are, I think what we do is firstly,
you asked, so, how did you think the weekend went? Zoe?
That's what you normally a nice, open ended, friendly question.
How do you how do you think your shows men
on the weekend?

Speaker 2 (49:16):
I think it was all right.

Speaker 7 (49:17):
I was pretty tired, had a big night before.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
I don't want to hear excuses. Let me be clear.
I don't want to hear excuses here.

Speaker 1 (49:23):
I just want to I want an honest appraisal of
the on air performance.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Also, I got to say, Zoe, pass up front up
when other rule's.

Speaker 7 (49:30):
Here, what's you're about to play?

Speaker 12 (49:34):
You're really scary?

Speaker 8 (49:34):
I think it's all right.

Speaker 2 (49:36):
Breaks, So you think things went well?

Speaker 1 (49:39):
I think they were okay, okay, okay, okay cool.

Speaker 2 (49:42):
I am.

Speaker 7 (49:47):
Salla Langley with choosing Texas here on ZENIM and it's
thanks to night and Day, delivering everything from an entire
cheese cake to overnight pads, and whether you're getting ready
right now to go and hang out with your friends
or you're just catching up chores.

Speaker 2 (50:00):
We're going to keep the tunes going here.

Speaker 7 (50:02):
We've got Somber, absolute favorite, Tuna has that's my.

Speaker 2 (50:06):
Body isn't really right right?

Speaker 1 (50:11):
Bright, titan, bright, breezy, tight and bright positive.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
What is an overnight what's an overnight pad? What is
an overnight pad? And the line that you just read,
what is it? Well?

Speaker 1 (50:25):
I think that's probably like us. She doesn't actually understand
the things that she's reading in the line is necessarily
they're just words.

Speaker 12 (50:32):
Good stuff.

Speaker 2 (50:33):
Yeah, client, tick the box for the client. I think
they'll be happy with that. I would have picked the different.

Speaker 1 (50:37):
Product so much.

Speaker 6 (50:42):
Jerry and Night, The Darchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the
Nice Stewart.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
Find them on Instagram at Hodarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 12 (50:51):
So.

Speaker 1 (50:51):
Nick Thompson is the founder of Marrow, a well known
butcher and home store located in and Devenport, and now
he's written a book called Marrow Whole Animal Eating, a
contemporary take on nose to tail cooking.

Speaker 2 (51:05):
And Nick's here to took.

Speaker 1 (51:06):
Us through some of the recipes and tell us what
you can and what you can't eat, or where you
wouldn't go in any animal.

Speaker 9 (51:15):
Particularly morning, there's not really much you can't eat, and
the book is a journey through the anatomy. We start
at the head and the tongue and we sort of
end at the tail, and as you read through, you
sort of get to where everything sort of located in
the animal, and then ideas of what you could do
with that.

Speaker 12 (51:34):
In a sort of new modern way, because.

Speaker 2 (51:36):
I guess it's a butcher. You would see, you know,
a whole animal comes in and by the end of it,
people are basically only taking the muscle part of it.
But there's so much left that you could be using.
And we used to eat all that stuff, didn't.

Speaker 9 (51:48):
We We used to, Yeah, and now we just sort
of concentrate on the back steaks or sort of the
pieces that have sort of been put out as the
standard cuts. And it's sort of more just respect sort
of approach as well, is that we're going to take
that life.

Speaker 12 (52:04):
It's like, let's use every part for something, because.

Speaker 2 (52:07):
Is there a fair bit of waste in our meat?

Speaker 9 (52:10):
In New Zealand, consumption. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, there's a game.
We stick to the I fill at the Scotch, fill
at the chicken breast, and that's sort of where we've
been pigeonholed. And it's just sort of opening people's eyes
to go there are new ways of eating these other
things that we might have looked past. In the case
of say liver, instead of having liver stearing back at

(52:32):
you from the plate, yeah, you can grate it and
you know, mix it through mints into a bolinas or
a family lasagna, get the iron and take, but you know,
you don't necessarily taste or have it.

Speaker 2 (52:42):
Yeah, liver in a lot of the organ meat's really
really good for you, isn't.

Speaker 12 (52:47):
It really good for you?

Speaker 9 (52:48):
So like liver alone, one hundred grands of liver provides
you sort of over three times the iron and take
that red meat does.

Speaker 1 (52:55):
Okay, So that's interesting. And also I think people are
starting to work out as well now that fat, it
turns out, is actually quite good for us.

Speaker 9 (53:04):
Yeah good, and like beef, telling all these things that
people are starting to fry and now all these natural
fats rather than it's funny I moved home and it
hasn't really changed too much in this country where where
it's chicken breast and it's fried in olive oil and
it's like that's way too expensive and harsh, you know.
And even little things like a fat cap steak. I
always say to people like, just put that down first,

(53:26):
render that out, and then fried in that and you
don't have to use it any oils. You know, it's
stripping it back and sort of a much simple approach
to cooking.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
Okay, So if.

Speaker 2 (53:36):
I was to look for something that's affordable nowadays, because
meat is insane ridiculous, I don't know if it's the
same all around the world, but certainly in New Zealand it's expensive.

Speaker 1 (53:48):
What would be the cheapest, most effectives accessible of something
that you could slow cook that the whole family going
to like, because sometimes it's hard to get good luck
getting off all into they're not going to eat anything.

Speaker 2 (54:01):
But what's something that I could slow cook?

Speaker 1 (54:03):
What's a good cut of meat for something you can
whack in a one pot situation?

Speaker 9 (54:08):
Yeah, I mean there's a recipe in the book for
a whole roasted lamb neck. So again it's it's not awful,
it's a muscle, but it's it's an alternate to a
shoulder of lamb. You know, you slow cook it just
the same and if not more tasty than the shoulder.
So the muscles are all determined by the activity of

(54:29):
the animal in the paddock and how much animal, how
much activity that muscle is doing, so that the animals
eating grass all day, so that that neck is building
up that connective tissue. So if we slow rose that
break that down. That meat is beautifully tender like a
pulling shoulder of lamb, but a third of the price.

Speaker 2 (54:47):
Okay, that's interesting. I never heard, and I go, I
don't know what to do with that.

Speaker 9 (54:52):
There's and there's a lot of meat. There's a lot
of meat on them. So like even a family of four,
like two lamb necks, and the slow cooker would features
and you pull away that meat and you have no
idea that it was the neck.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
You know, is there anywhere where you wouldn't go in
terms of in terms of everything, do you?

Speaker 2 (55:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (55:12):
Yeah, I do. And I just I just see it
as it's food. It's a it's a gift, and yeah,
there's I don't really turn my nose off it.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
What's the what's the tastiest part of the animal that
every day kewies aren't eating. Do you reckon? What are
we messing out on?

Speaker 9 (55:26):
There's a there's a recipe in there for we make
sort of like a corn chip style, but it's out
of tripe.

Speaker 12 (55:31):
So the stomach lining.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
Get out your try.

Speaker 9 (55:36):
But again everyone's used to try it being in a
soup and the house smelling horrendous.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
You know.

Speaker 12 (55:42):
But these are just new ways of bringing them back in.

Speaker 9 (55:45):
And I told a story recently where I had friends
over for the football and I put out these corn chips.
Everyone loved them. Then afterwards I told them that they
just had stomach lining.

Speaker 1 (55:58):
I did a similar thing with a friend of mine
with breast milk. With told my partner's breast milk, and
I made a cup of tea for everybody and I
put the milk was breast milk and told them as
they were drinking the tea. And one friend of mine
who finds female body fluids particularly disgusting, he is a

(56:19):
member of the LGBT plus community, and he actually started
gagging himself. But yeah, it's quite a fun track. It's
quite a fun thing to do with people.

Speaker 2 (56:30):
I enjoy it. Yeah, I did too. Has breast milk
in the book, No no neck timeson.

Speaker 1 (56:37):
The book's called marrow Whole Animal Eating. Thanks for coming
in today.

Speaker 12 (56:41):
Thank you so much for having me, Guess.

Speaker 6 (56:43):
Jerry and Mini. The hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 2 (56:46):
Sports Chat with ACC head g Laane, brought to you
by Export Ultra the beer for him. Welcome to the studio.

Speaker 1 (56:55):
ACC here, g Lane And I'm gonna say I just
love that All Blacks versus Stormers game Saturday morning. What
a great what a great display of rugby. That's the
kind of thing I want to see people from the
USA watching. Yeah, that was a great advert for the advert.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
For the game.

Speaker 10 (57:12):
Yeah, listen, it was. It was tough, especially after watching
or you know, gorging on MPC and gorging on Super Rugby,
where the brief was to the referees, make things flow,
for scrum collapses and the balls at the back, play
on if players are injured and it's not critical, play on.
We got the complete opposite on Saturday morning. It was
every like some of the oldest rugby professional rugby players

(57:34):
I've ever seen outside of MARTINU were playing for that team,
that Stormers team, and every five ten minutes they had
taken a knee getting some water. Yeah, it was pretty tedious.
That first half took fifty five minutes. That's how much
passing around there was. And the TMO needs to shove
it up as JACKSI as well, because he's obviously in
the air the whole time. The TMO should be there

(57:56):
for just like for cricket. For the third umpire is
for the howler, not just to referee the game alongside
the referee in his ear, because that's what he was
the whole time, in his ear, bringing stuff back, yellow cards,
piss up.

Speaker 2 (58:06):
I'm sure the.

Speaker 10 (58:07):
Heat clish thing, but no one got hurt, even Patrick
to a blow to Even Charting One News was saying, look,
how come none of them have been hia because there
was no heat clash there, And he's like, I'm not
the doctor and just carried on.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
It's like I can, but the doctor is also notice
was that.

Speaker 10 (58:22):
I cannot help this. On the Agenda podcast, it's free
reign Dave and I come on here. I can't switch.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
I can't.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
He's never been able to. I tried to mount that
defense last year. It wasn't except that if he listen
to his men commentatord can't switch one. There is one.
I'll tell you what though.

Speaker 10 (58:38):
What did surprise me was the amount of people tuning
in at five am on Saturday. It was a surprising
amount of people were interested to here on Hardaki and
on iHeartRadio. It was good to say, and it was
a lot of people obviously also just in bed listening
to it while they're trying not to wait there better.

Speaker 2 (58:52):
Half up with hit.

Speaker 1 (58:54):
Well, there's no doubt that there's a lot of interest
for the All Blacks visus the Springboks. There's a lot
of interested in this to It's a good off tour.
We love these types of tour. I just hope it's
not ruined by officials who think that people have come
along to watch them, because that's what happened, and they
seem to be English a lot of the time, seem
to be the worst worst. It's like nobody, we don't

(59:16):
want to see you. The whole idea is the ref
doesn't exist. That's the whole point where part of the
watch the people, you're part of the field rugby. Because
the test matches will be brutal. Yeah, there will be
a lot of physicality. People watch because of the physicality.
That's why you watch the game.

Speaker 2 (59:31):
The reference should be like the pad on the goalpost.

Speaker 10 (59:33):
Yes, part of the field functional?

Speaker 2 (59:35):
Yeah, just functional. Okay, so my conspiracy theory continues, Oh yeah,
Billy Procter is now.

Speaker 10 (59:42):
I don't think it's a conspiracy. I think any back
that was injured, Richie mind is going to be there.
I think if the other one your conspiracy was that
they picked someone who is going to be a sacrificial
lamb even before the first game. I you, Josh Jacob
jab but I think talking talking into Elliott Smith z
B what a commentating. He was just saying that, like,

(01:00:02):
there's no doubt Dupless could feat and Richie Wanger will
make an appearance in this tour at some stage. Really
due to the fact that you've got such a brutal tour.
There's knowing there's these injuries. Go lord, they're gonna they're
gonna play.

Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
This was my other conspiracy theory was that Dupless care
he was shifted from flank to second five and then
they put a hecks on Billy Procter so that he
would go down, and then all of a sudden, who's
the best second five over the weekend.

Speaker 10 (01:00:24):
I don't know an MBC I mean, come on, Dwayne
Monkley could have played sexty five in the NPC.

Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
My gap feeling is dupless if you won't play for
the All Blacks, that's my feeling.

Speaker 10 (01:00:34):
I think he'll. I think you'll be part of this
tour at some stage. I think I think that. I
don't know, but anyway, on Wednesday morning, we've got the
Shocks versus the All Blacks. And you believe you guys
are going to participate in the second half because we're
commentating from five am. It's gonna which is going to
bleed over into your show. Now, there was rumors that

(01:00:55):
you weren't going to come into work until about seven,
but you've actually got to help out in sideline.

Speaker 2 (01:00:59):
Oh really yeah? Six teams. Well I didn't even know
that was happening, so I would have just showed up
about five anyway.

Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Yeah, and then of course great, We've been talking about
it this morning a little bit. They're amazing. Warriors went
against the Panthers one v three. Should I speak, the
best team in the competition like that?

Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
Should there been a hocker before every home Warriors game home?
Only there was?

Speaker 10 (01:01:22):
That was something else though that I mean as soon
as I saw that. I said, we've got this game.
We've got this game. I'm obviously stuck all the partings
at the back.

Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
That was good. That that worked. Yeah, that was good
because all the.

Speaker 10 (01:01:32):
Aussies, come on, they were never going to do it
like that would have been the rule to make all
the Aussies learn a hacker.

Speaker 2 (01:01:37):
They would have they would look good for it. Whereas
whereas much about it just standing up the back and
just staunching the other team out. That works.

Speaker 10 (01:01:44):
Yeah, these boys are on my team team, not yours team.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:01:49):
The energy, that's like yeah, and they I mean, how good?

Speaker 2 (01:01:52):
How good?

Speaker 10 (01:01:53):
I mean Warriors fans will be excited, but won't be
showing it externally.

Speaker 2 (01:01:58):
A lot of.

Speaker 10 (01:01:58):
People are kind of like, still a lot to go
on the season.

Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
What three games? Yeah, I saw Die handle at halftime
and that was the exact feeling he had. We're up eighteen, Neil.
It was the best forty minute performance potentially in club history.
And then we're like, just just just hang on because
they've got to come back in them.

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
But I also look at it as a three year thing,
and it's like whatever happens this year is whatever happens.
But it's great to see that Warriors outfit, the people
behind the scenes, the whole thing working really really well.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
And look if.

Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
You are top four, if your top eight every year
for a few years ago, then that's then that's a
massive thing because it's such a hard competition to win.
Only one team wins it. But to be beating teams
and to be playing that sort of rugby, that style
of rugby league, to be entertaining all those fans, it's
bloody fantastic.

Speaker 10 (01:02:46):
Yeah, it was good. It was a great Friday night.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Yes, incredible. I was out there at the ground, watched
a lot of across the weekends. Well, I'm thoroughly enjoying that.
And I was saying to Jerry the Shield challenger Tago Canterbury,
which grudge match game one? Stand was full by the
end of the season, I reckon that whole place will
be full. It was. It was good.

Speaker 10 (01:03:05):
I mean, losing the Shield wasn't wouldn't help it. Chances
they could have they could have, but they can they
play that well.

Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
It was just a big.

Speaker 10 (01:03:14):
Brother thing again, and there was just something they just
couldn't crack them. I mean even our western springs, you know, Wellington, Auckland,
that looked awsome as well.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
They had tawlgate parties.

Speaker 10 (01:03:23):
There's bars out the back, people just wandering around with bears.
I learned what the Southland lunch boxes recently, which they
have down at Rugby Park, which is you get a
dozen beers in a box, cut it in half and
you just have a lunch box and you go. You
six beers in there, you can go to the stand.

Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
I know. Can you imagine that happening up north? Never
ever get one beer? I know, because you're right, there
was the first I'd heard of it as well. I
just worry are we shining a spotlight on it? So
don't if you're listening, don't shut this down. South You've
got to fight for your rights here. Don't let this
shut down just because the rest of the country is

(01:03:58):
starting to find out.

Speaker 10 (01:03:59):
It'll be some nonsense from the bad plan.

Speaker 3 (01:04:01):
You will complain about it.

Speaker 10 (01:04:02):
Some retiree F six tears down here, shut.

Speaker 1 (01:04:06):
Down, never don't even go downs men said, thanks very much.
Acc here Glane.
