The hood Acky Breakfast thanks to Bunnings Trade built big
(00:02):
rewards with new power pass pro rewards by Bunnings.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Jerry in midnight, Good morning, welcome along to the Hdicke Breakfast, Thursday,
the Sex of August twenty twenty six.
Speaker 1 (00:15):
My name's Jimmy Welles's nice to you. Good morning, Jimmy
welst morning. We're in a good morning. Zoe Ice on
everyone's windscreens this morning. She that that cults net that
they said was coming through and we hit on Thursday.
Let's come through and it is hit. And as I
look now at the calendar, Thursday, Yeah, you were doubting
whether it was going to come. Yeah you would.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
You were saying it was Was that Tuesday?
Speaker 1 (00:37):
You were doubting that it was going to come? Or
was it tuesday? The doors I was like, they're off
on this Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
You'd seen the news report that it was coming on
Thursday on Tuesday, and.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
I said doubt it yep. And me of little faith
here I am now this morning. Consider damn thing. When
I moved on to the motorway at one hundred and
twenty k's well, I hope this is a warning to
you that people get weather report's right now. Yeah, I
know it's generally correct.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
And the people that have still got the hangovers from
the nineties when there used to be a sun, a
cloud and some rain coming out of it. Yeah, and
they just see the symbol and then it would be
sunny and they gave bloody weather.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
They never get it right. Yeah yeah, but they've only
got one symbol to rip it. The souff it rains
for half an hour. They have to put the rain thing.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
Exactly, yeah, isolated. That was the isolated showers.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
Well this was back in the day where Jim Heckey
would just walk out and lick his fingers, stick it
to the wind and go yep r.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
You know, talking to Dan Corbett the other day, Jim
Heckey is still still running in is he ye, still
giving some tips hate hate.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
Mail where they get it wrong.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
You've read that fellas. Oh yeah, that that's not coming
to your elbow is getting in the way of gisbone.
Just so you know, Dan, thank you, Jim here get Jerry.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Is it a gift for you on your Thursday morning?
But I think you us starting to nothing better than
starting the day with the damp squib.
Speaker 5 (01:57):
Jerry and the night the hold Ikey Breakfast.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
The much vaunted cold patch has arrived. Yes, as cold
air has arrived all over New Zealand. That's what's going on,
finally blanketed the whole country. I've I've been sort of
staying abreast of it as it's been working its way
up the island. You know, just by my mum text
me Soday, I said it was snowing and crossch I
saw on the news that it's not in Wellington and
(02:22):
now that's bloody cold when I got up this morning
in Auckland. So yeah, I'm just having like around. I've
got the map in New Zealand and I Stuart and
it's got all of the temperatures currently experienced by New
Zealanders and all of the.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
May Jewish regions.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
So I want you to have a guess, and you're
where do you think is the coldest temperature in New
Zealand currently?
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Well, according to jury McDougall from Lincoln, it is minus
three in Lincoln. Okay, so we're going to anchor. I'm
going to anchor my guesses to Lincoln. What was your question?
Who's who's the coldest?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
Which which area is experiencing the coldest temperate considering that
we're not going to Mount Cock, right because Mount Cock
is clearly always the coldest place in New Zealand as
the highest peak in New Zealand.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yeah, but so we're looking at coldest like place where
people actually live.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Like, for example, if you were to chose, because you're
going to go to South Island, if you were to
go like christ Church, Team Ado, Dunedin and the Cargo,
Stuart Island or Queenstown do it.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, I was going to say to we ever central, Yeah,
what where are you going to go for the coldest
see see Alex is the one that jumps out to me.
I'm presuming that's not on your map. But Alex just
has the the forty five degrees summer day and then
the minus twenty degree winter morning. Give me, give me
(03:42):
Queenstown for the coldest.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Nia Stuart, congratulations, you have won this morning. New Zealan's
coldest town slash small city is queen City. Minus five
Wow in Queens City. Currently, you're right.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Thought of those those sort of smaller central slash Mackenzie
basin areas, they will be better this morning, James text
through Murchison. Is it Murchison, Jerry is at the coldest place.
Merchant doesn't. I don't have merchants, James and text in
a few times. Murchison doesn't feature on many of the
maps that Jerry subscribes to.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
No, but I imagine Murchison would be cold all that
at the moment Westport Nelson. So Murchison's between those two
places Westport two Nelson zero.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Tell me this, Jerry, if it's if it's minus five
and Queen's down it is currently one point seven in Auckland,
what's Kite tire Kait tire? Well, this is interesting one okay,
So then I generally base my Dunedin forecast off Kait tire.
Doesn't seem like it would make sense, but there's a
strange subclimate that's going on and done as I don't
(04:53):
know what it is. They are often there or thereabouts
with Kait tire. So give me two degrees in Danita.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Well you should have just stayed with Kai Tier. It's one,
it's one, it's one. I think the reason for that
is that Dnedan sticks out a little bit, and I
think the sea just moderates it slightly. That's my vibe,
and the cargo minus four, yes, because okay, well my
theory doesn't stand tall there then, does it. Christ It's
minus four team it oh your old stomping ground. Yeah,
(05:22):
minus three Blend and minus three Nelson zero.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
We talked about that before. We put two.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Wellington a Barmi four, I mean Wellington again. They'll be
very happy with four because essentially Wellington Napier is five.
So Napier and Wellington and Auckland's four now apparently according
to this but at four up there has got one
point seven depends on where you take that one.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Because Ruder was minus two this morning.
Speaker 6 (05:45):
Yeah, it was breaking news. I hate to examp your Jerry,
but I've gone deep into the met service website.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
I've got twys. It's current conditions.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
I'm going to say. I'm going to say minus ten.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
Six, minus six.
Speaker 6 (06:01):
Jerry's closes minus nine. But don't worry, guys. Feels like
minus thirteen. Four layers of cloth, it feels.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
Like minus thirteen. Jeez, must be minus thirteen out in
studio B as well. If it's four layers of clothing
this morning it's minus four and Mash his hometown a
kaiapoi toui minus five point seven.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Well yes, I get those central areas. There's topeal minus
two minus two. Tui is oftentimes incredibly cold. But the
good news everybody. I'm looking at the icons here and
it's Sun Son Sun Sun's Son Sun for the entire country.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
And how long is that gonna go for? Is that
for the weekend? No? Damn it, No it's not.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
It's for approximately two days.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Minus four Broadlands just north of Topes Fellers. That's from Hato.
And then this one from Robin. This is the first
time that I've seen a frost at Mount Monganui.
Speaker 5 (06:55):
Whoa Jerry and Miniah the hold Ikey breakfast.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
News for anyone who forgets to book their flights until
about the day before because Jetstar is changing this seven
cag hand luggage limit. I think that every time I'm
on a Jetstar flight. Every time, I'm like, I'm sitting
in the you know, they've got their own little wing
of the airport there, and you sit there and you go,
you guys forgot to. We all forgot I But last
(07:22):
time I flow on one, they had that seven kg
hand luggage limit thing and they weigh them and it
drove me insane because you know the way my brain
works is like double handling drives me insane, Like anything,
We've just done the thing, now we're going to do
it again. I'm like, hey, fellas, what are we doing here,
Let's do it together. This one was you go into
(07:44):
the little jetstar wing of the airport. They scan your bag.
So they take your bag off you, they go, we're
going to scan it, see if you've got anything in there, sweeteess.
They give it back to it and then they go,
now give it back. We're going to weigh it now.
But I'm like, you just had it. Weigh it on
the scale, So take it through the bloody thing. See
if I get a knife in there, pop it on
your scale. See if it's too heavy, then give it
(08:04):
back to me. Don't give it back to me. Then
I'm gonta give it back to you.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
So post security they do the bag way.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Yeah there was another bags or they've got their own
bags scan thing on the domestic terminal. So so you
go through, they scan your bag and then they would
then get you towagh. I would dry would object. I did.
I would object. I did. I would object by flying
in New Zealand next time. Yeah, well that's the thing. Yeah,
(08:32):
but again I forgot and this is what happens, and
shout out to just reach out of there and a
sponsor us. But I suspect them run after this. I
it's like every time you take one of those flights,
you go Jesus like two hundred bucks cheaper, and I've
left it to the last minute, so I'm gonna save
myself to undred or I can't afford the other one,
so I can't. Here we go. Then you sit on
(08:53):
it and you're like, I'm never flying with this guy's again,
and then you forget to book your next flights and
you end back on it again.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
I'm sure there's people out there who are fans. I mean,
the price is it's definitely cheaper, isn't it.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
There's no doubt about that.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
And I know some people who are fans of Countis
And so with the jit start means that they get
more points or something, so then they'll fly transitesment with
conders and then you've got the jets start internally, so
it makes sense for them. I can't remember the last
time I it's been a while, but I see that
they're changing the seven kg weight limit and which are
(09:33):
apparently very strict on seven point five empty some stuff
out of there, get it out of here, So they're
changing it. So now everyone's going to get a free
under seat bag such as a backpacker handbag or a
laptop bag, and that could weigh ten kg's So then
as long as you can slot it under the seat and.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
They're going to are they going to stop weighing there?
Then surely?
Speaker 2 (09:54):
Well then if you want to bring a larger cabin
bag that goes in the overhead locker, then you need
to bruy a prayer Aready carry on and that starts
at twenty three dollars, So that also includes priority boarding
so you can get on that flight quicker, so you
can sit down for longer before the flight takes off.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Or do they just slow down everyone else that hasn't
paid the extra money.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
There they need to apply the German boarding system that
we had with Loftanza. Also, I wouldn't say a grad
air line, but at the same time, that's the best
boarding I've ever been involved in. Where they board they
bought the window seats outside in so if you're in
row thirty two, but you're a window seat, you're boarding
with row one.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yeah, if you're a window seat. Yeah, well so all me,
you and a sec here Gulane were sitting together ABC. Yeah,
but we were in completely different boarding groups and we
boarded at completely different times. We're like, what's going on here?
Have we got this wrong? I don't know. Then as
we walked in, we're like, oh my god, no outside
in outside and nobody in it. They call in the
(10:53):
metal seats. Yeah, and you never have to do the
sorry I'm just standing there, so can I script?
Speaker 3 (10:57):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Actually, sorry, I forgot something up in the overhead. You
don't have to do that at all.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
It was just yeah, and I think with part of
it as well, that you pay for more because if
you're a window they're more expensive seats because then you
get to put your bag in the overhead locker first.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, because you're boarding first.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Yes, and then but you might be at the back
of the plane, but they're like, wow, you get the
priority boarding, plus you get that chuck your bag in
the thing, and then the aisle seats come in last.
And then, as we've said before on the show, the
captain comes on board and said thank you very much
for your impressive boarding, efficient boarding, and congratulated the whole plane.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Yeah, did, and there was a round of applause. Conversely,
whatever American airline I used most recently, they don't. You
can't even book a seat. You just book a ticket
onto the plane and then it's a fist fight to
get a seat and people stretch out. Take all three
of them is madness.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
And people are attempting to put one hundred and fifty
kg bags and overhead lockers.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
There was a dog on the floor.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
Jury in the night, the Hoarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
Six thirty.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Time for your latest sport headlines, thanks to export to
the beer for here a number of interesting selections and
the all black side name to face these Stormers on
Saturday morning, kicking off the South African too.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
That's yes, that's Saturday morning, Yeah, five am against the Stormers,
remember them? Remember remember the Stormers?
Speaker 5 (12:19):
Bro?
Speaker 1 (12:19):
Oh yeah, bro, I could not name one of their players. Now,
Percy Montgomery was wasn't Oh god, Pery was a shock was.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Shot the storm it was the old captain was number
six or number eight for the spring Box in about
two thousand and eight, two thousand and nine.
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Mild mannered, sort of a dude. He looked really the best,
hasn't the first light?
Speaker 3 (12:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (12:53):
No Jo John Smith was the captain for the while.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
John Smith John Jovanni No. I think Joe Berger.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Not skulk opportunities for Fit Again, Fabian, Holland and Patrick
two to themselves and the frame to start first Fit
Again Fabian make them better Black Eye, Well it's the
being named.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yes and keep a weather. I on Josh Jacob, who
could potentially make his debut for the All Blacks. This
has been my conspiracy theory for a long time is
that Richie Manger to get into the All Black squad
to play against South Africa needed to have played one
MBC game. He has done that. Now there needs to
be an injury crisis. When we last time I talked
(13:42):
about this, there was an injury and I was like, oh,
hold on, but it was the hooker. And then I thought, oh,
hang on, they're going to bring in your your new
starting hooker, Richie Monger. No, but I don't know. It
wouldn't be shocked if I sort of first five go down.
Josh Morbies included fall back. While Cli.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Lowaki and Joe Jacob are poised for debuts off the bench,
Delicate contract negotiations loom with a viewing to filling the
future Warriors number nine Jersey.
Speaker 1 (14:10):
That's a sentence. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
Coach Andrew Webster hopes they can keep Hockers, Wade Egan
and Sam Healey. We're off contract at the end of
the twenty twenty seventh season.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (14:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
So we talked about this yesterday on there Man Monday podcast,
because you know, there's a better conjecture about which one
would you re sign Wade Egan was Sam Helly. Obviously,
Wade Egan probably the better player right now, but Sam
Helly a lot younger and pretty pretty bloody good and
on a great trajectory. My thing is you signed both
of them because Wade Egan is gonna get a concussion,
(14:42):
get a concussion, and he'll be out. So and what's
been working really well for us this year is only
playing Wade Egan like sixty minutes. So the chance that
he puts his head in a dark space, you know,
goes down a little bit. So I don't think it's
a case of either or. I think it's a case
of if we've got the money and I reckon we will,
you know, because who do we lose next year? Mitch
Barnett Roger tow of us as she comes off the books,
(15:03):
we're going to have a bit of spare coin. So
if we can Kevin both. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
But if you're Sam Healey, are you happy to be
like basically play twenty minutes a week.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
It's a great point. It's a great point you Yeah,
I getting paid. If I'm Sam Heley, I'm saying, yes,
I want to learn from Wade Egan, who is one
of the best in the league. I'll still get my
minutes because I'll get twenty a game. Plus he's going
to be out for about six weeks and I'd sign
another one year and then and then see how you
going this time next year. Well, maybe you're looking for
a lifestyle change.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Maybe you want to live in Brisbane. Maybe you want
to live in the Goldie. Maybe you want to live
in Sydney. Yeah, And you know that's the thing. That's
a great thing for league players, like they get lives
playing and living in different places.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Maybe you've always wanted to move to Pup when you
get in. Maybe don't want to live in Penrose. Maybe Yeah,
And they have.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
To empirating pioneering frontier.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Looms for netball New Zealand. What the hell does that mean?
Speaker 2 (15:55):
From twenty twenty eight with news the governing body is
and talks but at least one private investor to take
over the A n Z premiership license.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
It is you. I was thinking about it. Is it
a wacky radio station with a give a little page
you can buy and nipple like Wonder of six even now?
And then I look at that page and it directs
me to the homepage, and I look at the other
causes that are not receiving money because we're trying to
buy two sharks. I do feel a little bit of guilt.
Don't do that, so I don't enough to pull it down.
(16:24):
We going. Oh by the way, we're at about five
and a half, so get on there. You can still
you can still donate and as a lot of it,
it's funny all throughout the day yesterday I could tell
when someone had mentioned it on the radio because the
donations started coming through again.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
If you saw the momentum tracker, yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah,
it's definitely linked to.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Talking about it on the radio three thirty, I will say,
drops off after four.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
I don't know what that's about, speaking of momentum tracker.
Up next, it's is here in the German song A
Dozy for you. This is the Hydochy break.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
Jerry Andman Night, the Hotarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
Have Got Something Old Monica's have Got Something?
Speaker 1 (17:03):
What Something's Monica's gat I'll tell you what I got
this year. At least for the first six months of
this year, A song really loomed large over my my life.
And it was Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls, you
know the one.
Speaker 6 (17:20):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
When you're hurting, Oh, I don't think and you're sad, Yeah,
and you're by yourself one are your goats?
Speaker 6 (17:28):
Jerry.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
I think the fact that the band was called the
Go Go Dolls, Yeah, it sort of eliminates them, doesn't it.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Yeah, meant that I stared well clear of the song. Also,
at the time, I was deeply invested in heavy alternative music.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Yeah, so that. Yeah. But for some reason, I don't
know why, but I think a sec web Master and
Chattabad of Fishonado Joe Jury stumbled upon the nineties was
a Lollapalooza or something.
Speaker 6 (17:57):
And the Rain and Buffalo on a New Year's Eve.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Yeah, and we we watched that video over and over
and over again, as Ruder often does. We've talked about
it on the podcast before on this show, because the
bass guitarist isn't playing in a different band, like this
guy is up the front singing, he's looking like a
heart throb. He's playing his guitar. It's passing with rain,
and then it's like slip knots. Bass guitarist is wandering
(18:23):
into shop guitar. Anyway, So, because I've been watching so
much of this show of this song lately, the Instagram
gods have served up a transliteration which I thought would
be great to share with Zoe. This is Goo Goo
Dolls translated into German. Beautiful language, and there's way too
(19:04):
many syllable there's way too many do not work. It's beautiful,
isn't it? Oh my god? Beautiful little transliteration from English
and to German that never needed to happen. I love
something that never should have happened. I love that they went.
They went, word for words is powerful. I believe Zolways
(19:25):
sent her an actual German song.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Hold on there was English and that one two three
counting in English at least coming with iron spikes, right.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
You know what I'd like, I'd like for this song
to be translated into English and then back into German.
Then I think it would be a good song.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
Jerry and the Night, the Hold I Keep Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
This morning on the podcast, the first bit of the
cheery of the first podcast, See the Sun, which we
record before we do the show. Talked again about Swift Justice,
which is a vigilante justice initiative that we're launching, which
is me driving around the Suzuki swift righting a few wrongs. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
Some of the limitations actually is what we're talking about
this morning on the podcast, some of the heck ups,
some of the hurdles that could get in the way
of swift Swift Justice administering swift justice.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
I can see why Spider Man takes to the skies
because this morning I was boxed in at the front
of my house. So if someone called for swift justice
and my cars boxed in, I can't help you. Sorry.
Speaker 2 (20:34):
Yeah, well, I think more relevant in your situation would
be that you can see why Batman parks his batmobile and.
Speaker 1 (20:41):
Inside in a garage. Yeah, I mean, here's a cave
bit extravagant. I'd settle for a cottage. Does he ever
have to deal with frost on the wind screen? You'd
have to think that he's also got a butler who
could probably go out there with the jug and you know,
sort that out for him. But anyway, this has captured
the hearts and minds the imaginations of the nation. Black
Life got into the Conclave, which is the Hadaky Breakfast
(21:02):
private Facebook page. He's aid picture of Swift Justice, go
and join the conclave. Do you want to go? Say
that it's a it's a real doozy and yeah, we've
and Ruders produced an excellent explainer on the full history
of Swift Justice. It all started when he was just
a boy. Someone backed into me at the parking lot
(21:25):
the wayman he knew were way back in the day.
I was parked in my car and I could see
him backing out, and I was like, he's not seeing
my car, So fit him with a few uppercuts. If
I'm gonna move that car, I'm gonna get out of Dennis.
He grew up.
Speaker 6 (21:37):
He found his true calling.
Speaker 1 (21:41):
There were just two people having a dust up. The
cars parked right next to each other and they were
having a full on like knock down, drag out slob
knocket and they were all onto the footpath and that
went over and pulled them apart, like shirt collared them both,
pulled them apart and said, get back any cars.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
The Suzuki Swift Vigilante. That could be you just driving
around all day long. We call it swift justice. Yeah,
who are you gonna call swift justice.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
When you're not on the radio.
Speaker 2 (22:06):
You're just cruising around looking for moments that you can
break throople up and swift.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
Justice with justice, swift justice when no one else is
around to help you. You don't do swift justice. And
the Suzuki Swift sign goes up in the air. It's
just goes out there. And then here we come and
the menual with the band out squill.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
And that's great because you can get around the outside
of traffic and stuff like that up on the path,
no problems.
Speaker 1 (22:29):
With all that sweat target like I call up and
then execute a perfect parallel park pop out. Look, right,
what's going on here? The nice Stewart is swift justice justice.
Speaker 2 (22:41):
I think a mask, like just something that goes over
your eyes just so people don't know exactly who you are.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
So the sideways, Yeah, just across your eyes with two
holes in it.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
That way you can keep being a radio host by
morning and then by day, your swift justice. Justice.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Swift justice is like Batman, but with no resources. That
takes too long for the cops to get there. But
if you call swift justice, Playne Brown's fronting of press
conferences like, well, look, if the bloody police aren't going
to do anything about it, we're going to do something.
So I call them swift justice, and he are going
swift justice. Five thousand rooms on the donal dogs. I'd
(23:17):
be looking after your man, par your mom and pop shops,
or like dairies. Swift justice. Just in right, I pull up,
put the city's down, and then I take one for myself. Kids,
kids in the classrooms. I pull up and dust the
kid in the classrooms.
Speaker 7 (23:32):
I mean, let's be honest, there are a lot of
little shits in classrooms and we need to address that.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
Who are you gonna call justice?
Speaker 5 (23:41):
Jerry and Manaya, The Hokey.
Speaker 4 (23:43):
Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the Nia Stuart The Whodarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 2 (23:48):
The story came across my desk class night yesterday actually
about a Dnedan man who disguised himself and stole forty
items of women's underwear from a student flat and his conviction,
his avoidance of a conviction. Yeah, that the Dunedin Andndy thief.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
That yeah, this is this is this is crazy. I
thought that the story, or at least the last I
had heard, was that there was an undi thief on
the loose and that they were struggling to bring him
to justice, and maybe I needed to get down there.
Some swift justice, deliver some swift justice.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah, this is exactly the type of thing that swift
justice should be entering into, my opinion.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
If you if you not across swift justice, Swift justice
is just me and Masuzuki swift driving across the town,
delivering vigilante justice to low range crimes.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
Yeah, by day he's a mild mannered radio host, and
then by night and by afternoons, by morning he's.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
He's a mild manned radio host. It's in weekdays he's
a mild manned radio and by the.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Mid morning through to the afternoons and early evening. But
then you need to knock off early well to be
too late. Swift justice crime crime fighters.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Yeah, so for anything that's a little bit so low
range to call the cops, you know, but you do
want something done about it, you call swift justice.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Yeah, yeah, you got your ram raids, you've got your.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Road rage incidents.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
Road rage incident's low level burglary. Yes, in this situation perfect.
A man in his forties cruising around stealing women's under
his forties.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
A man in his forties disgusting. Well, to be honest,
it's normally men in their sixties, wow, is it? Yeah?
The undy burglars, it's nearly always men. So it's always
me and you'll never find a woman who does it. Well.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Actually, I've got a friend who flatted with a girl
and she was an undie teeth really because she just
needed some.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
Well needed some.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
I mean, you don't need ten peers, but don't you
have tho? They were all she was stockpiling. Yeah, they
were found. They were found in a drawer.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
It was crazy that this heaven because when I lived
in dn our neighbor there was a good lived next
door to us. She said all of her undies got
taken off the line like twice in a row. She
was wiped out, had to go down and came out
and sort herself out. But yeah, she was like, what
the hell's going on there? And then as you can imagine,
you know, when you're flatting and dunners, you've got a
wide group of mates. The allegations are flying left, right
(26:23):
and center. Yeah, never did get to the bottom of it,
but it makes you wonder, could it be the same guy? Well,
so apparently this man.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
So he's he's someone's been caught, right, and he's gone
to court. He's in his forties. He's admitted to burglary
charges after entering the North dun Eden flat through an
open bedroom window into the floor.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
Crazy.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
He claimed the theft was a prank.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Tough, tough defense to mount, the prank defense as a
man in your forties, well disguised, it's just a student prank.
It's just a prank. Break you're not a student, just kidding. Also,
what's the prank? What's funny about it? Why are you disguised?
Speaker 7 (27:00):
It?
Speaker 2 (27:00):
Next minute they weren't and I was sniffing them.
Speaker 6 (27:02):
It's like a magic trick.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Yes, it's like, what's so funny about you? And the
sniffing bit.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
He's been ordered to pay five hundred dollars an emotional
harm reparation to each of the four flatmates.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
That's a bit low. I would say five hundred two
thousand in total two thousand and totally you had run
a bit more than that because oh, plus also because
you're not gonna want those undies back, so now you're
going to replace all your undies. Oh there's that, I suppose,
plus the fact that was inside your house more than
five hundred.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
I'm surprised to Jose didn't say you've been ordered to
pay half a shark.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
I was just gonna say two thousand doesn't even get
your shark a half a shark. That's that's that's a
slap on the wrist, isn't it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
So apparently it follows a similar incident last year because
I take a univisit's students called a man peering through
their windows or peeping tom before underwear went missing. So weirdly,
there's something about Dunedin and Undy thieves. Don't know what
it is, don't know what's in the water down there,
don't know what's happening with the Danneedin water table. This's
often ashes there with the DCC. So in November last
(28:00):
yeah Cowboys cheerleaders. A man lost his appeal to stay
out of prison after he necked hundreds of pairs of
men's underwear from student flats.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
So he was an equal opportunity offender.
Speaker 2 (28:10):
He was in his sixties, very progressive Warren Gray.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
How do you assume it's only women's underwear being stolen?
Speaker 3 (28:15):
Jerry?
Speaker 2 (28:16):
He got sentenced to twenty months imprisonment. Then there was
the Abbotsford super Slouth in twenty ten. That was a
local resident named Nick Reeves. He spent hours hiding in
a rhoaded endron bush flowering rhoded endron bush in Abbotsford
to catch a serial thief. And after baiting the washing
line and tracking the suspecte this is good, he and
(28:39):
his brother in law chased the man for a k
caught him and then they handed him over to the police.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
Brother, is that swift justice? If ever I heard of it?
That's not justice.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
But they talked him on foot instead of a Suzuki swift.
And then there was the north Otago Commuter, a sixty
five year old man from a small town in north
Otaga arrested by a police dog unit after traveling south
specifically to steal women's clothing and underwear from flats around
Cargill Street. On people are coming from other suburbs on
the south ellen coming from other towns I mean, obviously
(29:11):
there's a lot of students, so they know that there's
young women that live in around that area.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
Yeah. No, no, knock it off, knock it off North there,
that's enough. Someone said the Swift Justice report to shootouts.
Absolutely not Swift Justice of the ten to five emergency numbers.
Speaker 5 (29:33):
Jerry in the Night the Archy Breakfast.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
We've been talking about it a lot over the last
wee while because the Hidacky Breakfast is trying to buy
and Shark.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
We've bought n shark, Yes we have, Yes, we have.
So we found a place where it's a sustainable ocean society.
They've got their great white app they tag sharks. You
can follow the shark. Every time it surfaces. It sends
a notification to I don't know what, a satellite, and
then you can track it on the app and you
can see where they are. There's a conservation element to it.
(30:05):
Not interested. I just want to watch sharks because sharks
are sick. And we've been told at this station that,
you know, the best marketing for us is our content.
We thought, what better marketing could there be than owning
and shark, and so we set out to do it.
Turned out keys it'd spent the whole marketing budget on
a pigeon.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Which which got eaten in the weekend.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
Yeah, I don't know if it one or not. I
think on one I would have known about it.
Speaker 6 (30:33):
Surely I heard it came ninetieth out of about one
hundred and ten or something.
Speaker 2 (30:36):
Yeah, I mean, it's not easy for a pigeon to win.
And no, how do you train a pigeon in that.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Such God God knows. Yeah, either it's good or it's not.
What happens if it gets taken up by fear, that's
a huge amount of luck involved, huge amount of luck anyway,
So we so that wiped out our marketing budget. So
we said, okay, this thing's dead in the water unless
somebody takes her, and said, why don't we have a
whip around, I'll chipping for a shark. So that's how
this whole thing started. Four three hundred was the amount
(31:01):
that we needed to sort. And so my idea was,
we'll running give a little page a whip around for
two weeks, and every donation can suggest the name for
the shark. Then we'll pick the name, tag it, name it.
We then own a shark. It took me a week
to get to give a little page up and running
because I needed verification from you, Jerry written permission from
(31:22):
the Sustainable Ocean Society as well. I don't know why,
No I needed do I as I'm sure it's all
illegal thing. Then the four thousand, So that start went
live on Friday. By Monday, we had already cleared the
three hundred dollars that we needed to buy the shark
by Monday night. So Tuesday morning we came in we
said we've done it. I thought when I set the
(31:45):
goal at four thousand, three hundred it would cut off
at that point. It didn't, so we actually overshot it
by one hundred and something bucks. And then I said, okay,
well I'm going to try and pull it now. Text
machine goes crazy, No, no, no, leave it up, let's
go to We're going to sharks. Yeah. And so that
was on Tuesday. It is now Thursday morning. We are
at five thousand, five hundred and ninety five dollars donated
(32:09):
so far. Some of the best comments that have come through.
Because I don't know how to turn the email notifications
off either, every donation sends me a notification. So four
hours ago, what's that three twenty in the morning. Yeah,
Big wal sixty nine donates one dollar and the comment
just says, wake up Monekers sixty nine. I love Yeah, So.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
Obviously sixty nine got an important job he's doing in
the morning. So we are currently at five thousand, five
hundred and ninety five dollars given by two hundred and
eighty six generous donors.
Speaker 1 (32:44):
Yeah, in eight days.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
So we it says of four thousand, three hundred goal,
we're actually going for eight thousand, six hundred goal.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Should I update the I reckon.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
You might need to update the goal because because we
are going to do it until tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
That's when we're going, right tomorrow nine o'clocks when this
thing closes.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Yeah, so we're look, we're not that far off, are we.
We're two thousand, eight hundred something like that?
Speaker 3 (33:10):
Is it?
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Well?
Speaker 1 (33:11):
And I was going to say, yeah, if everybody, because
we hit that four thousand, three hundred so quickly, if
everybody who donated, however much they donated, just did that again,
we'd be back in there. I just I know perse
strings are tough for me personally. I don't get paid
till tomorrow, so but I eighty six hundred when we
(33:31):
breathed through our initial target. It felt very easy. Now
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
There've been a couple of very generous donations, won by
a champion golfer Ryan Fox five hundred dollars individual donation.
There's been some other larger donations as well by families,
very generous.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
There's a lot of generous.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
People out here because, as you said, the night times
are times are time times. Times have never been tougher. No,
I know it's unpresidentedly tough.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
What but basically this is your chance to say that
you own not just one, but two sharks with the
wider radio HDAKI community and champion golfer of the Iaron Fox. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
So there's not much time left to be able to
say that, to be able to honestly be a part
of it. So one more day lift. We're currently at
about five thousand, six hundred dollars. We've got to get
to eight thousand, six hundred by tomorrow. Just google Google
Shaky Shark, get a little and then you can follow
(34:28):
it and that's probably the easiest way to do it.
You can donate as much or as little as you'd
like to, and you can write whatever you want to write.
There and you can suggest a name as well, and
a lot of family name we have to name these sharks.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Yeah, a lot of families have been, you know, donating
five ten bucks on behalf of the family because the
kids want to be able to say they own a shark.
Speaker 3 (34:47):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
It's a pretty cool thing to be able to talk
about in your family. And then you hop on the
app and then you say, where's our sharks shark today
we can go check it out shark yep. And I
think there's a lot of teaching lessons around it for families,
So I think it's a it's a great thing. Five
bucks for a family is a great thing to do
because all of a sudden, you can talk about geography,
you can start talking about about ocean stuff.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Is we're the things. There's all sorts. Also, you know,
we're not to be if the sharks at your beach, like, hey,
your office is down the beach. Yeah, probably not go
down there. That's right.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
Some insurance policy to make sure you can don't get
eaten by shark.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
Yeah, and it's it donated ten dollars and said I
was gonna buy my shark, was gonna buy my own.
So this is a missive coin. Exactly. It's cheaper than
buying a shark by yourself. Okay, so what we ed up?
Three thou?
Speaker 3 (35:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (35:35):
Okay, payday tomorrow for me, So I'll kick in a
few more bones.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
Jerry andman Knight the Hodarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
On Saturday morning, the All Black's begun a huge tour
of South Africa and what's being called rugby's greatest rivalry.
The first match is against the Stormers at five am
on Sky Sport one. There's also live commentary on Radiohadocke
and now Sky and and Rugby have teamed up to
make the game free to watch on Sky Sport Now
(36:04):
via a free day pass, which is great. Now it's
the first All Blacks tour of South Africa in thirty
years and one man who is there in ninety ninety six,
the only time we've ever won a series in South Africa.
Sky Sports Jeff Wilson, thank you so much for your
time this morning, Goldie. Have you finished celebrating that nineteen
ninety six series win yet?
Speaker 3 (36:26):
Well, it's nice to celebrate it again.
Speaker 7 (36:28):
Unfortunately, I can't.
Speaker 3 (36:29):
Go as hard now as I went back then. Let's
be honest.
Speaker 7 (36:33):
I'm still in recovery mode and the fact that we're
talking about thirty years ago. It's sobering in itself, right,
is the fact that it is that long ago and
a lot of things have passed at the end.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
But I can't wait for this game.
Speaker 7 (36:46):
I can't wait for this tour to get started, because
you know, this is for a generation of Kiwi's. They
haven't experienced this, so I can't wait to see it,
watch it and see it play out.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
Well, you're someone who's lived it, who's done it. What
is it like touring South fail because we see the scenes.
You know that the player of the fans mobbing the
buses before the games. It's a religion over there, isn't it.
Speaker 7 (37:07):
Your passion, passion and more passion, and it just keeps
coming and it's relentless. But don't get me wrong, there's
certainly a huge amount of respect from the South African
fans and for the All Blacks, it's just on game
day and around that eighty minutes where all of that
goes out the door and all they care about is
their team winning. And that's why I think the biggest
(37:29):
test in world rugby is to go into the Lions
Den and that's what it is in South Africa. You know,
the Springboks are a formidable, formidable team. They're in such
a strong side right now and you know, I think
if there's a team in world rugby that can take
them down, it's the All Blacks, but will have to
be very good.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
How far off do you think we are? Because I
feel like the vibe around the place, certainly at the
TB is that the spring Box streets ahead of the
All Blacks. But I feel like we're closer than that.
What do you think we're You're so right?
Speaker 7 (38:01):
Well, I think we've closed the gap and closed the
gap really quickly. And you know, I know there's lots
of memories of that performance last year in Wellington where
you know, the spring Box ran away with a Test
match against the All Blacks.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
But we did beat them in Orband last year.
Speaker 7 (38:15):
And I know playing in South Africa is different to
the House of Eden, don't get me wrong, but I
think we have improved significantly already this year. We've see
m a lot clearer about what we're trying to do
and how are we going to go about it, and
we sort of know who our guys are, that we're
going to have to step up. But I think I
think the GAP's closed. I think we're right there. And
(38:36):
if we get it right on the in this first test,
and I think the first test is critical, Let's be honest,
if we get it right there, this could be a
very very interesting series. And if you want to talk
about pressure, then it'll get ramped up.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
Yeah, I imagine the pressure wilcome on the South Africans
if we start well. But how hard is it, Jeff?
Because you know what it's like. It's different going over
there for a one off test than it is a
three test series LUs games against some very very good,
well provincial teams.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
Like how much different is that?
Speaker 7 (39:09):
It's massively different because you're talking about trying to keep momentum.
It's trying to keep your focus and making sure that
you are on not just every seven days but every
few days, and preparing two teams in conjunction with each
other four games.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
That is not easy to manage.
Speaker 7 (39:25):
And you know there's a team of forty four players,
but you know there's army of support crew that's you
know that that adds to the difficulty of playing in
South Africa. Knowing the fact that you are going to
have to back up week after week after week, and
like you say, as that the series gets in the balance,
then then all of a sudden it will be a
(39:46):
different conversation because this is a decider. This will you know,
this will give you more advantage than others. So for
me that like I said, this is like the thing
else these players would have experienced before. They'll have to
learn quickly.
Speaker 6 (39:59):
I think this.
Speaker 7 (40:00):
There's enough experience though that have been in big games
who understand helps up with us to beats at Abriga
to help prepare the follows who haven't.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
Been there before.
Speaker 2 (40:07):
There's one part of you, Jeffilson, be honest, there's one
little part of you want to see the All Blacks
beaten just so you can show how difficult that was
and and that one that one t is series. We'll
just stick out there and say, you know what, that
ninety sixteen that wasn't a great team.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
It will always be the first man. You can't take
that away from any of it.
Speaker 7 (40:32):
And I've said this, I'll take that ninety six ninety
seventeen against any team ever played the game, just not
now it is now.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
Yeah, No, that you guys were undoubtedly a great team.
Jeff Wilson, thank you so much for talking to us
this morning. We really appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
Let's bring it on.
Speaker 5 (40:51):
Thanks guys, Jerry and the Night The hold Icky Breakfast
dally Us.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Spoke content that you won't find on the radio show
The Hurdarchy Breakfast Podcast.
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Time to play, It's academic. Give us a call now,
eight hundred Hadachi if you want to play. There is
a fifty dollars bunnings about you up for grabs. You
just got to answer three questions creeped out of five.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
Okay, sounds easy, but let's find out. Let's go to rights.
Will we find Ross? Ross? It says here you're a milkman?
Speaker 3 (41:21):
Is that right? Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Congratulations. I only know one of the milkman and it's
milkman Mash. Do you do you do the rounds like him?
Speaker 3 (41:30):
Well?
Speaker 8 (41:30):
I never a milkman and tell you seem and I
A I'd have to compare notes with Mash and see you.
I'm not going to commit to anything without knowing the
full story.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Yeah, that's that's good, A good. A big part of
milk manning milk manory is a discretion, and so you're doing.
Speaker 8 (41:48):
Well, you make a good milkman when I have the
whole radio thing doesn't work out for you, mate, I
think you've got a future.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
So yeah, let me know.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
We're about a text here on three for eight three
that suggested there's a lot of people around Rotro who
look a little bit like you Ross.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
Well, that's I'll leave that up to the public judge.
Speaker 1 (42:05):
Mate, Well, no comment, clearly doing some good work around.
Let's get straight into the I believe you are representing
Witcomb High School in Vermont.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Now that's an international school, obviously Vermont State in the States.
I'm looking here and I cannot see Whitcomb High School
in Vermont.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
Yeah, it doesn't exist anymore, mate, they shut it down.
Speaker 1 (42:29):
So any famous alumni from Whitcim High School in Vermont.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
Apart from myself, No, not that I can really think of.
Speaker 2 (42:38):
Hey, is super interesting talking to you Ross and listening
to your accent because it's very Canadian.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
That's basically Canada.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
I get that a lot, and you know it's we're close.
Speaker 1 (42:50):
But is it like calling a key Australian.
Speaker 3 (42:54):
Yeah, I think it hurts its things a bit the
way around. I don't really mind. But if you come
across the Canadian and you suggest that they're American.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
Yes, it's not going to go down well no, but
it is so interesting because there's definitely a similarity there.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
Okay, let's get into it.
Speaker 2 (43:11):
First question for Ross the movement from Dexter Holland is
the front.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
Man of a witch band? Oh quick, Ross, you might.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
Want to pass pass what color Ford Broncos the offspring?
What color Ford Bronco did O. J. Simpson drive during
his infamous police chase?
Speaker 3 (43:35):
Oh? That was the weight one.
Speaker 1 (43:36):
It was who provided the voice of Donkey and the
Shrek movies.
Speaker 3 (43:40):
Eddie Murphy? Yes?
Speaker 2 (43:42):
When did the All Blacks last play a three test
series in South Africa?
Speaker 9 (43:46):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Past, it was nineteen ninety six. You've got to get
this one.
Speaker 2 (43:50):
Which Scottish duo had the hit I'm Gonna be Brackets
five hundred miles?
Speaker 3 (43:56):
Oh that the proclaimers?
Speaker 1 (44:00):
W Ross, you'd got there.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
I'm bloody happy for you. Good on you, you won
a fifty dollars Bunnings about you?
Speaker 7 (44:06):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (44:06):
Good?
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Thanks for ragulations. Ross. Well, I love when they hit
the buzzer better. Yeah, good on you, and good luck
delivering that milk and rot.
Speaker 5 (44:15):
Jerry and Mini the hold ikey breakfast.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
We were at the piewarts the other night, weren't we,
and we're in lapping up the entertainment.
Speaker 1 (44:23):
Well, the pie industry is night of Nights and actually,
funnily enough, my so we sit down to start you
in here at this point, sit down, I still so
his appetizer off her plate. Then, as I often do
these awards, and then the opener walks out and it
was Las Vegas themed, and so an Alvison personator walks out,
(44:46):
and then Kezy turns to me and he goes, doesn't
Jeff's uncle do that do this as well? And I
look up and I was like, that's her, that's just uncle,
that's Jeff's uncle. Yeah. New Zealand's number one, Elvis in person,
Australasia's number two.
Speaker 2 (44:59):
Yeah, austra Elasia's numbers numbers, the world's number and twenty.
Speaker 1 (45:04):
There's a lot of good Americans, but I put him
up there with any of them, Shay Orton, if you're
looking for for anyonder book. But then so he did
the opening then I think it was it. Michael Murphy.
Michael Murphy runner up Season one of New Zealand Idol
to Ben Lummas just lost out to Ben Lummash, and I.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
Turns around him and says it says, I've always been
a lumbus guy. Yeah, I'm a lumbas guy. I'm a
lumbas guy. But meanwhile, Dilley out in the office, Michael Murphy, guy, huge,
Michael Murphy. In fact, he bought the Michael Murphy single,
did he?
Speaker 1 (45:35):
I saw it was him. I was wondering who bought that.
Then later on such as the grandeur of the pie awoods,
the pie industry is not of knights. A gentleman came
out and he was he was talk singing. He was
he was Cronan. And I turned to Jerry and I said,
you don't see too many talk singers these days, do you.
Is it a dying dying out of the talks.
Speaker 2 (45:57):
I feel like it's a lost There's something nice about
it brings you in. It's relaxed, it's unpretentious.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
Because I think, and I said this yesterday off here,
as I was saying, in another life, if I had
my time again, I wouldn't mind being a talk singer.
And then I think it might have been rude. It
was like you could just do that because that often
they're like they're often in their fifties. It can be
a talk singer. Picture me walking out in a in
a you know, double breasted suit and sort of Winny
(46:25):
Peace sort of styles, glass of whiskey on the rocks
in one hand, cigar in that same hand, microphone and
the other and I'm just go starts breading the news.
We'll not even singing.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
You know what I see when I when I think
of you on stage as a talk singer, I see
you in a light blue tuxedo with black bow tie
and the ruffles, the ruffles on the shirt, whether whether
yeah we a whisky and yeah weather sigi, Yeah, with
(46:59):
a dart and whisky.
Speaker 3 (47:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (47:01):
And as I'm singing and just wander into the pokey room,
just have a little flutter, come back out New York,
New yor how beautiful. It's just such a dying and
just the effortless they walk around the room, they wink
at someone, shack someone's down, how you doing? And then
right at the end, you've got to bring it home
with like a massive note to remind people, hey, I
(47:22):
can actually sing here.
Speaker 2 (47:23):
I was doing two things that you're good at. One
is talking on the radio. So obviously you're a broadcaster
of notes.
Speaker 1 (47:29):
Some people would argue at that point and singing, you
know you're you're a musician of note as well.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
So I think it's it's incorporating two things that two
strings too great rear strings that you have, but other
people don't have to their bow.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
So I think when this, when this whole thing blows over,
when I'm inevitably dismissed from from my current position, I
think talk singing, bring it back in New Zealand.
Speaker 2 (47:51):
I think what we need to do though, is work
out what your set list would be. So if you
were to sing, talk, sing some songs.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Is this the big note here?
Speaker 5 (48:02):
No?
Speaker 1 (48:02):
Not yet, he's just teasing you. Sorry, Yes, this is
a good opener. Your seat. Orient know what the city
is a little later on, I'd go bang clck Oriental city.
I'd go into this. Just this is moving, starting to
get the party movement. It's a bit happy hobby. If
I'm honest.
Speaker 5 (48:24):
If you're no where to go to, don't you go
wear fashions?
Speaker 1 (48:30):
There's another roots.
Speaker 10 (48:34):
Another roots putting on the roots and maybe for the OnCore.
You come back out and you came from Miami, f.
Speaker 1 (48:42):
L e there we go read way less. Yeah, it's
really but yeah, I don't know. It's talk singing. Is
it a lost art? We need to bring it back?
Who are the greatest talk singers of all time? Yeah,
one of the greatest talks is one of the greatest
talk singing songs. Three for eat three eight hundred hardeche
one of them. There's a bit of rapping in this. Yeah,
(49:05):
this song's not quite's quite going to cut it, you
know what? A bit of talk singing breaking down Jerry
in the night the breakfast, we're talking talk singing songs.
Were talking in them, songs that start with talking I love.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
I mean, as we're talking about New York, New York,
Frank Sinati, Frank Sinatra, king of the talk sing a
great crooner.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
Yeah, I just think that it's listen to that is
such a lost art when no one's doing this these days,
the talk singers.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
He was bridging, he was bringing bridging talking with singing. Frank,
wasn't he He did something that he kind of started there.
Speaker 1 (49:46):
And it's just such a funny, like, you know, an
intimate evening with monacas. I just get up there and
I'm just talking, start spreading the news and you're not
even you know every lyric and you're walking around and
the confidence I think they have to just sit in
the pop winking and smiling at people, shaking people's hands,
picking something up off someone's plate, walking out into the crowd.
The confidence they have is because they know at the
(50:08):
end of this they are about to hit a note
that is going to shatter wine glasses. Yeah, And so
they carry that confidence with them as they're as they're
wandering around the hazy, dimly lit room. Live band in
the background.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
Three who has been talking about great talk singing songs.
A lot of suggestions coming in ruder.
Speaker 6 (50:27):
This one by the Butthole surface Mikey with.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
Sharon and Sharon Scherie and she was Sharon Sharon's outbook.
Speaker 5 (50:34):
On the topic disease. Mike, he had official Gar and
Bobby Wan the reasons they.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
Were on and I was dying.
Speaker 6 (50:40):
They were a lot of people wanting this blur.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
Song preference for the event of what is known as.
Speaker 4 (50:50):
Fucklood.
Speaker 2 (50:51):
You're gonna need a You're going to need a chorus
for that one.
Speaker 6 (50:55):
This one comes through heavily as well.
Speaker 3 (50:57):
Let me.
Speaker 1 (51:00):
Tame the be Do you like to make a love.
Oh yes, striking.
Speaker 11 (51:07):
Have you ever made love just before breakfast? Have you
ever made love while you watched the leaklate shows?
Speaker 1 (51:20):
We'll ask you this.
Speaker 9 (51:24):
Have you ever made love on account? Have you ever
made love on the backseat.
Speaker 6 (51:35):
Of a car? The Prince coming through a Prince story ticket.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
Are always on my mind, A Paul, wherever you may go,
you take a pot of me. I need twenty years
on the dots. My love for you, see I reckon
(52:01):
This has got you written all over it. A night
because keep you. He's about to launch into a chorus.
Here you and the fact that you can go spoken
word chorus really kick it in the guards. It's so
(52:28):
much harder because you're going to lean in to listen
to him talking. I love that song.
Speaker 6 (52:34):
My personal favorites this one.
Speaker 1 (52:37):
I'm here for you.
Speaker 6 (52:40):
Oh yeah, this guy's not even in the band anymore.
They kicked him out.
Speaker 1 (52:45):
Maybe I knew about it, Maybe I just didn't care.
You just don't understand how much I love you?
Speaker 3 (52:50):
Do you?
Speaker 1 (52:51):
I'm here for you.
Speaker 2 (52:52):
There's so many people that constructed relationships and personalities around back.
That guy's little piece.
Speaker 1 (52:59):
Of the little peace and they and Jerry.
Speaker 6 (53:04):
You're saying you love.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
Ten, You're not in love Gez. That was a hard note.
That was good talking. We're bringing it back a yeah,
or shall we leave it where it is?
Speaker 2 (53:24):
No?
Speaker 1 (53:25):
I think we've got to bring it back.
Speaker 5 (53:27):
Jerry and Midnight, The Darchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the
Nice Stuart. Find them on Instagram at Hodarchy Breakfast was playing.
Speaker 2 (53:36):
This weekend is going to be fantastic Friday.
Speaker 1 (53:41):
First, the Panthers are weekened Panthers as well. This is
going to be a good litmus test for how the
Warriors are going. I circled this one from a long,
long long way back, and I made of mine. He said,
I look, I'll come up for a weekend, come hang out.
Why don't we pick a Warriors game? And we and
we looked at the schedule. We said, the Anther's one
the one you're gonna want. Hell. Yeah, So he booked
(54:02):
flight as soon as he booked flights about a month ago.
Said right, we'll start looking into tickets sold out already straightaway.
Speaker 3 (54:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
Well it's one v two, it's one v two, three,
three three basically two bucket the rousters. We're pretty close,
and so I couldn't buy tickets anywhere. I sunk to
a new loaf for myself.
Speaker 1 (54:21):
I asked our dear friends in the corporate hospitality world
if there were any, how dare you That is a
new loaf for you. I know, I've never felt more
disgusted in myself, and you've plunged the depths before, but
that's a new loaf for you. It turns out the
entirety of corporate hospitality at Mount Smart Stadium this weekend
(54:44):
has been given to Steven Adams. Fair enough, he's he
can afford it well. And also, yeah, he's launching the
academy there, so that was a dead end as well.
Speaker 6 (54:53):
So has that him doing it for the kids to
encourage kids into sport. He needs a whole heap of
corporate boxes.
Speaker 1 (54:58):
Fair enough, That is fair enough. So yeah, like I
was said yesterday, I can't I can't find any I
can't find any tickets. If anyone's if you's got any
of that, they want to tell me, we've we have
had a brand reach out to us, okay, and they said, look,
we heard Old Monica's has not got something something Old
(55:22):
and that got something what not something? Take us to
the Warriors, Panthers and they said, look, we'd be happy
to give you a couple if you could give us
a shout out on it. And as we always talk
about on this show, we are not we can't be
bought like that, if you know what I mean, because
what we're we're not a charity here, We're we're not
in the business are giving away ads for free. Nobody's
(55:44):
going to buy them the cow if you're giving the
milk away for free. This is what they call in
the industry cash for comic. Yeah, a backhanded they also
call them sometimes this is a straight And when I
see something like that, I'm like, well, there's nothing in
it for the audience. Why would they want to hear
me that I'm getting free tickets to the game, Even
(56:05):
if it is from a place as delicious as Wendy's
who have partnered with the Warriors and have your chance
to win exclusive deals, weekly prizes and lunch with the
one ended Warriors, you know, that is not That is
not what this station is about. The station isn't about
to feed the faith. Range that's out now with three
(56:25):
burgers in a Sunday, just a caramel Sunday, looks bloody good,
I'll tell you what what I'm saying is that's something
we wouldn't do for anyone. Now, if we were going
to do it, we would do it for Wendy's. But
we're not, Okay, is what I want to make abundantly clear.
That's not who. It's about having your own personal standard.
(56:46):
I mean, just just last year, Jerry, you were accused
of being in the pocket a big cyclone in a
cash for comment situations. That very next week you started
talking about apples. What of a brand of apples? That
was both times, all of a sudden, an entire crative
Apples shows up out the front, and I thought that
was disgusting. So when Wendy's you Feed the Faith range
(57:07):
out now got in touch and said that they would
offer me a couple of tickets to the Warriors, I said, no,
no chance. Okay, would love to and obviously I'll be
stopping in there this weekend, but I would not. I
would never promote them. If you are at the Warriors
this weekend, we're going to have a chat on Monday.
This is the Hydarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 5 (57:28):
Jerry and Mini. The Darchy Breakfast.
Speaker 1 (57:31):
You are not in the conclave because you don't have Facebook,
but there's something that I need to bring to your attention,
and it is, Oh yeah, it's a it's a well,
the Conclave is a if you don't know, it's a
private Facebook page where you can join. The only reason
that we make it private is one so that there's
no bots in there, so that people aren't in there
(57:52):
promoting things unless it's us, and we are often in
their promoting things. And hardest thing you for content? Yeah,
what have I done this time? It's something you are
actually currently doing.
Speaker 3 (58:01):
Run.
Speaker 1 (58:01):
At this present moment, Lana has gotten into the conglave
and she's posted a pole that people can vote on.
It's in front of you now. The pole asks a
simple question, should Jazz give up on his new hairstyle journey?
It has two options. One is yes, please this link Max,
and then it's a photo of you from I don't know,
(58:22):
like January or something. And then the other option is
what are you even talking about? It's fine, it's fine
in capitals I see there, and then a photo of
Michael Hill jeweler.
Speaker 7 (58:32):
And so.
Speaker 1 (58:35):
I think five hundred and forty eight people have voted
on this and it's pretty split down the middle.
Speaker 2 (58:39):
Hey, just a quick question, because my eyesight is terrible now.
And these these poles, you know, there are a decent
font size, but then the photos are a little thumbnails
and I can't is that actually because there's two photos
of me?
Speaker 1 (58:54):
I genuinely can't see that. I need to make and
find glass. Is that actually, Michael Hill Jeweler that that
second thing?
Speaker 3 (59:00):
Or is that me?
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Can you tell me because I genuinely don't know.
Speaker 6 (59:05):
Or that is you?
Speaker 2 (59:08):
But I think that's just that's a concern for me. Yeah,
I don't recognize myself anymore.
Speaker 1 (59:16):
This is going to happen day anymore.
Speaker 2 (59:19):
This is going to happen to you one day, And
I can't wait for you to come back to me
and say, you know what, that's happened. That things happen
where you don't recognize it. You looked in the mirror
and you went, who's that guy.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
It's one of those ones, you know, when you see
a mate that you haven't seen and like you bump
into someone you haven't seen in like ten years, and
you go, my god, and then you go, oh, hang on,
he's thinking that about me. Yeah, I've gone to seed.
Speaker 2 (59:41):
Well, no, not everybody goes to see it in the
same way. I mean there's some people that really go
to and some people go to see later than others.
Some people go to seed early and then they just
hold that for their yea for their whole life.
Speaker 7 (59:53):
You know.
Speaker 1 (59:54):
But I do not recognize that person on that bottom
photo at all. Who's that guy? Yeah? Well, I think
James mcconey talked about a while ago. Sometimes when he
wakes up first thing in the morning, his phone screen
won't open. It's fine, doesn't recognize his face first thing
in the morning. So yeah, I don't know. Fifty seven
percent is it's fine? Oh yeah, forty three percent is
(01:00:17):
take it back to the to the short side. Yeah,
you've got to change shit up, you know what I mean.
And I think the other thing that people need to
understand is that it's a It's about how Jerry feels.
Thank you, and I now, is it pissing off the
seven sharp producers because it's messing with the green screen?
Speaker 5 (01:00:34):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
Is it clearly on Lana's mind as well, just got
into the contract.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Is it a cry for help in middle aged Yeah, potentially,
it feels it's got midlife crisis will written all over.
Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
I will say, when you were in the market for
a new car. I thought you were going to get
a computible. This is the thing for me. This is
an organic midlife crisis. Yeah, it's a slightly expensive midlife crisis.
And then this summer you're going to go full Kenner.
Speaker 5 (01:01:05):
Jerry and Midnight the hold I key breakfast.
Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
If you haven't donated yet, to try and grab yourself
a share in one of our two sharks that we're
trying to buy here ready.
Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
Technically in both sharks. You know, I feel like you
can say, you know, you can say you own two
sharks if you chip in. I've updated the goal on this.
You can see exactly how far away we are six
and a half grand of eight thousand, six hundred total. Okay,
so what are we one one nine hundreds there where?
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
We are just lessen to nine hundred, one thousand, nine hundred.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
We're going to do it. Do you think I reckon?
We can do it. We're close, Okay, we're close. With
your help, we can definitely mine do it. Not you personally, well,
but I'm talking to our listeners. It's payday for us tomorrow,
so I'm going to see how we're going tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (01:01:51):
Okay, So you're making a pledge now to top up
wherever we are. We are, wherever we are, top it
up to get over the line.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
Just last week I couldn't afford a haircut, so I'm
not really in a position to bridge the gap. But again,
like I said before, Jerry, you know we see you
on the TV. We see you, we see you on
the on the on the TV doing the show with
Hillary Berry. I tell you what. Times are tough at
the moment. Hell's kicked in any money for this.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
Times are tough for broadcasters at the moment, as you know,
and battled broadcast the industry itself and battled.
Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Hell's bears chipped in any money for the shark. Mate, No,
she hasn't it. I should probably hit her up. What's
Daniel Foight Taya's problem? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
I know, I know.
Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
Can he chipping? I see him on the tipping point? Actually,
you know, I want a bit of coin. Bradley washed it.
Dave Pierce, who a veteran tv Z camera operator. Dave, Yeah,
leave Dave Piers raking raking it well done, he's done.
To be honest, let's not poke that beer because we
probably owe Dave Pierce a fear bit of money for
what he's done for the show. Yeah, to come up
(01:02:55):
with Diader Alive, the game where we name five or
one people and you have to guess with their Diader Alive.
I don't get me wrong. He's also dining out on
that ticket. Yeah, he's getting recognized everywhere for that. We'll
leave Dave a loone, but Hills could probably chip in. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:03:09):
So if you want to donate, just head too, well,
just google Hidache shark and give a little head to
the give a little page, a little bit of credit
card detail there, as much or as little as you want.
But it's undertoo that we're gonna we're gonna get there.
So make sure you donate because you want to try
and get a share of that shark. It's a great
thing to be able to tell people good learning experience
(01:03:30):
with the kids.
Speaker 1 (01:03:31):
Yeah. Where else, Yeah, because you can track the shark
once once we heard both sharks, and where else can
you essentially buy two sharks like a dollar. That's basically
what we're offering you. Here's The Hidarchy Breakfast.
Speaker 5 (01:03:44):
For more from Jerry and Minia, listen live from six
am weekdays on Radio Hodachi The Hdarchy Breakfast. Build Big
