Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Hurdarchy Breakfast thanks to Bunnings Trade build Big rewards
with new power Pass pro rewards by Bunnings.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
This guy's approval, Jerry and Midnight The Hdarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (00:11):
Good morning, Welcome along to the Friday edition of The
Hiderckchey Breakfast with Jerry m The Night's Friday, the seventh
of August twenty twenty six. I hope you're staying warm
wherever you are.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
I am not warm, but I tell you what I am.
I am the proud new owner, as are you. As
au Ruder. You don't know if so he kicked them
for this of two sharks, I now own two sharks
this morning. It happened overnight, one last big push. We're
actually trending on the Give a Little homepage at the moment,
which is worrying because again we updated the thing and

(00:44):
it's still going over. Stop donating now, because we only
needed to hit eight thousand, six hundred bucks. We got
eighty seven hundred and seventy, you know. And I'm off
to the warriors to.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
I recommenze charm scores it right. I reckon take a
bit of money as an end, mean fair.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
I can't take that out of it. Oh yeah, no legalities.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, who's gonna anyway? Great stuff. So now later on
in the show, we need to call Dr Riley Elliott,
he's the guy that runs Sustainable Oceans Anxiety and just
find out what's what's the next steps in terms of
owning our two sharks.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
Jeez, I hope because this is this has only happened
because of a clerical eraror I'd hate to have put
more work on Dr Riley's desk. You know, imagine if
he's like I was really grateful when it was one
Chuko's probably bit of work. I'm sure it won't be
an't we gonna get it done. It's gone hard and

(01:41):
got Eric.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Welcome along to the Hierarchy Breakfast. It's nice to have
you with us this morning.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Jerry and Mini the Hdiarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
Wow, the much vaunted cold snap is upon us. This
is day two of the serious that that's blanketed the
entire country. Did you see yesterday on the news? Ahhre frost. Yeah,
all through the South Island, sitting in Mackenzie Basin.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Anyway, minus seven reported out of South Canaries today. It's brutal.
It is brutal.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
Yeah, and I think the coldest temperature was minus ten
at Mount Cock. Yeah yeah, always Mount Cock.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
Yeah rugged. I'm gonna be honest, So I was. I
deployed the iceberger this morning when I was driving into work.
That's where you just scrape one little box shaped clearing
on your windscreen. I genuinely don't worry about the windows.
I'm not going that way.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
You know.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
What happens if you have to give away to your right,
you just drive the whole car around shotgunner turn and
then turn the whole car around the other or anything
coming that way.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
That's a window down situation.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
Yeah, oh yeah, for sure.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Man.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
It was so so I had to I went the
scraping method as opposed to the water this morning. I
would say the New Zealand driver's license bit flaccid for
my liking. It was just it wasn't quite getting the
purchase I needed. Geez, how thick was the ice pretty
It was thick enough that I couldn't get my windscreen
wipers going. Whoa they was stuck. Yeah when they go, Well,

(03:13):
I turn them on and they didn't move because they've
frozen to the windscro like a halfway to work and
all of a sudden, they you know, skip the Jesus.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
They ejaculated. I'm looking an hour around the country and Wellington, Wellington.
Stand up, stand up and be proud. You were saying,
Wellington has the weather that you'd likened to a game
of golf.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, which is.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Every now and then you had a good shot and
that keeps you coming back for more. But most of
the time it's terrible. Yes, seven degrees that is currently
the highest temperature in New Zealand. Not minus no, no,
it's just a straight seven.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Great. I know they should.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
I wonder whether maybe there should be a public holiday
in Wellington.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
A day of morning.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
Remember that day, Remember that day, the seventh of August.
Seventh of August twenty twenty section we had the highest
temperature in New Zealand in the morning.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
I'd watch out because sometimes snow, when it's snowing, it'll
there'll be just a random spike in temperature which be
a little bit warmer, and then all of a sudden
it dumps down with snow.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Oh, I see what you say, you're that I think
is the Northwest effect that happens in the South Island.

Speaker 3 (04:20):
And I also believe that Wellington is the South Island city,
so I would watch out. What about can I have
a Donners.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Then I'll give you two degrees in Dunedin. Really it's
been pretty barmy. Actually didn't even have meant too cold
this week.

Speaker 3 (04:35):
No, but I wouldn't have thought Wellington would be a woman.
Can I have a kite tire?

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Just yes? Just for reference from preference are two two.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
See kait tire and Donedan strangely linked in winter because I.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Know what that is.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
You've established this connection. Yeah, but the first person to
ever establish a connection between kait tire and Dneda.

Speaker 3 (04:54):
From a weather perspective. Yeah, you're not the only one
who knows whether.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Jarry No, I think there's very few people that have
ever moved either from Kaitaire to Dunedin or Dunedin too.
Kai nice place, kait Tie didn't think of any and
I'm just having a look here. Surprisingly, kait Tire colder
than Auckland Auckland three. I just think that that's because
we're an itth mith, yes, and we've got water around us,

(05:18):
so in that situation it moderates the temperature faring at.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
A one a Barmie minus three just north of Gore
on the text machine.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Oh yes, Queenstown's just lifted to zero. It was minus
one earlier. Christ Shitch minus three, Timdoo, your old stomping ground,
mild hunting ground minus three. Yeah, let's take you back.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
I don't miss those mornings. Nah, I mean again, this
is this is what we were talking about the other day.
So cold that you actually can't use water to defrost
your windscreen because it'll just freeze again on your way
to work.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
Did you have any frozen pipes ever in Teamdoo growing up?

Speaker 3 (05:53):
I had one und Donners that was a shocker sour
pipe froze underneath our flat on Dundas Street in Dunedin
and and burst. And so our landlord came around and
cut a two meters square hole in our flat mate's floor,
and then he fixed the pipe and then just rolled
the carpet back over but left the floor out. Is
I'll be back in a week to fix that. And

(06:13):
so my flatmate we had to put his bed back
in on an angle so that didn't fall through the
hole in the floor. There to sleep for a week
with a hole, a two meter square hole in the floor.
Right and done, it's right in winter. In winter, I
remember going to bid some nights there'll be frost. You know,
your room is cold on this frost inside the like
on the inside of the wall, on the douvts is
a bad one, and on the dovate and then you're like,

(06:35):
I remember going to bed one night and looking at
that so where my breath had been going up the
wall was like sparkling crystal frost on the wall. Oh
my god. I was going to bed and I was like,
this is the warmest it's going to be tonight. It
only gets colder from here. And that was terrifying. Is
that because did you.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Have a front door? Because I've been to a lot
of Flints and Castle Street and around that area and
they haven't got front doors for some reason.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Just shut them. Yeah, exactly, Tom, I know you minus seven.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Yeah, she's an isolated little pocket of coldness there. Just
having to look up the country there topel minus three,
napes minus three this morning.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
Go back to bed, We'll go back to bed.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Tell you it's actually just having a look here. I
thought Wellington was once the chats eight degrees tropical.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Jerry and Mini the hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
It's having lock here and there's something in the dock,
and it's a piece of correspondence from one Lee ibanez Iban.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
Is she's happy with either. It depends whether you're trying
to impress the Spanish speaking side of her family.

Speaker 1 (07:41):
Yeah. Is she in a relation to Salvador Ebenez? Those
classical guitars were imported to Japan in the early nineteen hundreds.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
I look, I haven't checked the fucker puppa recently. I'm
sure do you fuck up upa back to Salvador. What
I will say is I know that she's a new
listener to the show and she's Americans. It's probably gonna
it's probably gonna freak her out hearing me say Papa
into a microphone this morning.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
If we can get some Yeah, just clarification on where
you do fucking papa back to Lee, that would be good.
If you can touch based on your papa, please, But
a bit of correspondence from the conclave. I've never been there,
don't know much about it other than the fact that
it's a Herdeki Facebook page where you can provide some
feedback and interact with the show. Yeah, I Lee has

(08:34):
said her key breakfast minutes Week one. She's a new
listener to the show, Lee Ebanez. I don't know if
I got lucky tuning in when I did, says Lee Ebanez. Well,
if the show is delivering this level of fun every week,
but shout out fun, I don't know. Buying and shark

(08:54):
with Ryan Fox. This is this is These are bullet
points dusting little ships and school. By the way, is
hearing a politician say shits, especially in regards to children
not shocking, They're absolutely amazing. So this is saying to
me that Lee Ebanez is from overseas, she's American, She's American.
Strategy and strategy discussed with two professional fighters.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Oh yeah, yeah, that was a personal highlight for me
this week. Actually, two professional boxers who understood, by watching
a silent video of me shadow boxing my game.

Speaker 1 (09:26):
Plan against little shits in the classroom, how I would
deal with the ten year old coming at you.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Watch it again, as we've been through and as they understood,
keep them at range. I'm going to have the high advantage.
There are only ten. They're going to look to close
the gap there. That's when they just walk into a uppercut.
Slumped wake up, in the nurses room.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
Yeah, and I think boxing legend David Nika was. I
think he thought you were coming straight out that little ship.
But what he didn't understand was that little ship was
coming at you and at me. He's coming at you.
You're defending yourself. You're on the jab, and then if
he comes at you on the inside, that's when you
bomb with the uppercut.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Good news after seven, Joseph Parkerson.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
So you can also great telescoping backscratchers. Try it on
your catman, I Lee even is any conclave.

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Thank you, Lee, I have, I was saying earlier this week,
telescoping backscratcher one of the greatest purchases I've made, and
I have. The thing is he doesn't because I tried
to scratch him from across the room the other night.
He doesn't like the scratcher coming at him. But if
it comes over to you and you and you have
not telescoped it, you know, if it's in short mode,
you can scratch them.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
He can't tell the difference in the hand in the scratching.
Now again, swift, Justice Eban is on the conclave. We're
talking through the things, the points. These are the minutes
from this week buying and sharks. Now I would say
that just I don't want to I don't want an
Aklin dimer, but she's already mentioned that at the top.
Comparing a ship round of golf and weather, well, that's
Wellington's weather, which.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
Just has that one day that keeps you coming back
to Wellington, like a round of golf where you hit
that one shot that can keeps you coming back.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
Golf names for bad players bingo bango bongo and battle
golf are fun.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Oh yeah, that's not the back of me playing a
bit of match play this week. The gats my mate,
instead of just going around counting your own strokes and
getting pissed off.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Okay, slower justice due to inclement weather. That's on the
back of swift justice. Yes, battling because unfortunately sometimes swift
justice if that swift justice, if the sign goes up,
the Suzuki Swift sign goes up into the air like
they need you wherever you are to come to turn
up and deliver some vigilanty justice, and unfortunately there's a
frost in your area.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
Or like the other morning where my neighbor had boxed
me in and they.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Come and get out and you can't get out and
you're in the Suzuki swift. It's a bit of a
problem and you can't really deliver swift justice. What do
you do in that situation?

Speaker 3 (11:43):
I also imagine funding a press conference after that is
like swift justice. It took you half an hour to
react to this call that was just around the corner.
How do you answer? How do you explain that? Well,
I was boxed in by my neighbor, Like you probably
wouldn't have a SPT that from the cops.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yeah, and they say was surely you would have a garage,
wouldn't if he is swift?

Speaker 3 (11:58):
No, no new built build, terrace house, no parking.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Also are pandy raids Dunedin Dunedin panty raids?

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Oh yes, is that I don't recall the panty raids.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
So she says, I can't believe this is free. And
you know, she makes a good point when she says
it's free, because there's not a lot out there that
is free. But I'll tell you something that's free.

Speaker 3 (12:20):
Radio the radio, Cky Breakfast. Yeah, radio is free, sixty
ten weekdays.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Radio is free.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
You still will get people complaining, Yeah, some people think
that should be paid to Lisson.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Jerry and the Night the Wharchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
Six eighty one on the Hidercky Breakfast Time for your
latest sport headlines. Thanks to export Ultra the beer for here.
The All Blacks have been forced into a change for
tomorrow's opening South African Tour match against the Stormers while
the Cititi has fallen ill. Not only is he said
he's fallen ill?

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (12:55):
Well?

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Has he been eating the susie on the catering again? Yeah?
So I see that they have named as replacement Flankett
Richie Wong it to start.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
It opens and tom segn has been picked it open
side thinker Peter Lackeye moves to number eight. The Warrior's
decision to hold on to Luke Metcalf for the remainder
of the season has proven wise. He's been called into
the starting team to play the Panthers tonight for the
first time since Round five to Mardy Martin's been ruled
out due to calf strain sustained in the win over

(13:30):
the Titans.

Speaker 3 (13:31):
Geez, this is this is interesting. This is interesting. Where
do you how do you feel about Metcalf being brought in?

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Well, I mean I think they've obviously got to bring
in the best the next best player that they've got.
So I think that some people are saying, well, that's
going to be good for the worst. I don't think so.
I think combinations establishing combinations is everything. And I think
you you can just see what the passing, the crispness
of it and when you've been playing for a while
together six seven combos and also connecting with the guys outside.

(14:02):
I just think it's all about game time.

Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, but how do you feel about Like, do you
think that maybe we may need him in the in
the playoffs and in the back end of the season,
and it could be good for him to get some
reps in a bit of confidence.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
Well, if there is a guy that's coming off the bench,
who is a guy who's waiting in the wings, he's
a good person to.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Have, that's right, That's right. So yeah, it's gonna be interesting.
I don't know. I think that changes how I feel
about this game. The Panthers a good few players out
and now you do too. I don't know. I don't know.
Could be could be a real, you know, hero story
for him if he if he comes out and we
win this game tonight, it's a real shame. You're not
going along, I know, gut it.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
You can't find tickets no no, yeah, you've been searching
far to do anything.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
No way. And I was offered love and money for
you know, but I just said, look, I can't. Who
cares for comment?

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have responded to their eighty two twelve
trouncing by the Rooster. Trouncing by the Roosters.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
It was a pansing almost so.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
They have kicked off around twenty three with a thirty
eight went over the Titans nice and the cricket world
is still processing. Former England captain Ben Stokes tell All
podcast interview. He's spoken on many issues on the two
hour for the Love of Cricket, For the love of God.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Yeah too hours just over. Did I listen to it?

Speaker 1 (15:22):
Did you? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:24):
It aged me horribly. They didn't say anything.

Speaker 1 (15:26):
So it aged you by more than two hours.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Yeah. I had a birthday during it. Wow, it was ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
So he talked about a lot of stuff, including the handing,
the handling and his own review of the ashes. You know,
everyone who needed to see at the ECB and put
that along with your views and your thoughts and had
a real good meeting and me, Buzz and Keysy we're
continuing the jobs that we were doing. And Kesey was involved.

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Yeah, him, Bears and Keyzy.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
How does Kezy know about cricket?

Speaker 3 (15:53):
Stokes, Bears and Kezy just said, well, three of the
greatest minds in cricket all Keywis as well, just sat
down and hashed it out.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Jerry and the Hotarchy breakfast.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
We have in the dock in front of us. It says, Shark,
give a little final push. Donate it, donate it. We
did it. We ticked it off last night. Eight thousand,
six hundred dollars. Please please please stop donating to that
because it doesn't I can't shuts off at six fifty nine,

(16:25):
stop because any were already over the thing and.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
You've moved it to shut off at six fifty Yeah,
I'm how to change it. Okay, cool, because it was
going to shut down at eight fifty nine this.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
Morning, but we're already over. But like one hundred and
something dollars.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
Were I we had a little push, a final push
last night. Okay. I've got to say a big shout
out to some of the some of my Instagram I
think some of I think some of my Instagram people
came through here your Instagram. I think some of my
Instagram some of the good people, some of the people
that follow my Instagram, And there's some good people that
follow me on Instagram. Some of the good people, the

(16:57):
forty nine thousand, three hundred good people.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Some of the worst people also follow you there.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Well, there's a ragdag bunch. Put it that way. I mean,
there's some people. There's some fans there from back in
the nineties, from the from the early havoc days. Yeah,
some family members in there as well.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
Yeah, well no, didn't you block them all?

Speaker 1 (17:15):
No, not all of them, just my mom, that's your mom.
There's look, there's seven chart people in there. There's Taskmaster
fans in there, there's international people, there's there's there's fans
and these people. Can I just say these people who
have been following me, these forty nine thousand people, that's
it's been a famine. They've they've got through. They are
dead people because there's there's nothing good happening on that
Instagram account.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
Is it one of those situations where you post and
all that does is remind people that they still follow
you and they've forgotten.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Say, ohow, do you know what? These people have had
to sit through some pain. Some of these followers had
to sit through the G Lane back bush incident in Austin, Texas.
I lost a lot of followers there. We've got to
stop this.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
I followed you, did you. I was on the pool
with you. I was looking at the back post myself
and I still unfollowed you. But I was having a
look at some of the donations here. Grant Grant generously
two hundred bucks from Grant. He says, look at the
other names we've got. Keep it simple. So Bruce and
mana shark. Good on your team, says Grant. Thanks, that's

(18:15):
pretty good. Charlie posted into the conclave and just wrote
two sharks with a million exclamation marks. This is unprecedented.
Andrew said, surely, we just named them Maniah and Jerry,
a punishing combo on land and at sea.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Cameron says, if we're getting two sharks, we need two
names that roll off the tongue. That's why my suggestion
for the names is Bell and Bob Jeweler.

Speaker 5 (18:37):
Thanks.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
PS. Tell Zoey, I say hello, I saw that comment, Cameron.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Do you know Cameron what about what about the person's
who's using the username shark and has donated four dollars
and twenty cents blaze it, and and every comment just says,
Dada dada.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Barry with fifty bucks. That was nice, Lizzie said, I'm
only doing this for Jerry ten dollars.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Great, we'll take it, Shannon said, getting into this so
my husband can stop bragging to me that he owns
a shark with Ryan Fox.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yes, I saw that. Rach wants to call it greeg
Norman thirty eight dollars and Rach Jared and Freddy thirty bucks.
Finn again the Great White Shark.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Jace wants to call it Bwomba.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Sam wants to call it OPO. Yeah, I bought him
on that hog in you oppers. I don't mind that.
I mean, I love that.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Greg gave ten bucks so we could jump it, and
Josh souta good on you eighty two dollars. That was
because he wanted to close it, he said, eighty six
hundred and closing with eighty two dollars.

Speaker 3 (19:42):
A shark of great money as well. Gigabyte Mega hurts, Ah,
this is great, So this is this is where we're at.
We own we are now the proud owners of two sharks.
We now need to name them.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Yep, we need to name them and we've got lots
of suggestions from all of the owners.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
We do need to run it past Chaving God for
the year Ryon Fox who has chipped in the most money.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
So that sort of gives them right of veto, doesn't it.
And later in the show, let's talk to doctor Riley Elliott.
He runs the Great White app and Sustainable Oshis Society
and we can find next steps in terms of tagging
one of these suckers.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
So he need a hand because I'm busy.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
Jerry and Lenion the Hodarchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and the
nice to It the Hodarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
So you probably know our next guest is one of
New Zealand's best ever boxes. In fact, that's something he's
about to get back into, but for now he's turned
boxing promoter. Tomorrow night, David Nique is taking on Floyd Massan.
It's a twelve round to see the pronunciation with us,
It's a twelve round world title eliminator. The winner will
get a mandatory shot at the vacant IBF Cruiserweight World Championship.

(20:56):
It's all but sold out, but you can still watch
it on the TV and Z Plus event Pass. Joining
US now boxer and boxing promoter Joseph Parker. Get Joe,
how are you. Good morning, Nice to see you. And
I saw yesterday you were on the news and you
have been cleared to fight again. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
I've been cleared, which is a It was the best news,
you know. And I've been spending a lot of time
here at home with the family, just doing day to
day things. But ultimately I want to be back in
the rings smashing people love and I'm not getting to
smash myself.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
That's right. Because there's been a lot of activity in
the heavyweight boxing scene lately.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
There's a lot and I've been to a lot of
the fights, or a few of the fights, and when
I'm sitting a ringside, I'm like, damn getting me into it?

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Yea, now, yeah is that right? So have you been training?
Obviously you probably never fully off, but been.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
Training my right hand like eating. I have been training,
like you have to as a fighter, you have to
stay in shape, so you don't have to get in shape.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:59):
But now that this has been lifted, I'm going to
push through and go harder.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Yeah, yeah again the head back over and catch up
with Tyson Fury in them.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
I was with Tyson about two weeks ago in Thailand.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Yeah. He had last Friday, Yeah, last week.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
And I was in camp, staying on his yacht with him.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
I've been watching the.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah season two is it?

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Yeah? Now I didn't know a huge amount about Tyson
Fury before that, and now I feel like I know
him really well. What an interesting dude he is, and
his and his family and running an interesting life because
obviously incredibly wealthy man.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
Right, Yeah, he's done, He's done exceptionally well, incredibly.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Wealthy, but he hasn't changed his lifestyle that much. I mean,
having said that, you were just on a yacht with him,
but yeah, that.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Part to him. But then he's got the other traveler
part to him, which he keeps going and he drives
around in a VDA pizzetta.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
We used that kind of camp.

Speaker 6 (23:00):
Crazy.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
It's like we can't take the Ferrari, we.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
Can't take the wagon and was voice.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
But everywhere he goes. Obviously he's massive. What is his
sex footeen or something like that, so he stands out.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
Six foot nine and he does, and everywhere he goes,
I just go, oh my gosh, who's that guy?

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Yeah? But he but he loves he loves the people,
and he's he's very generous with himself. That's what I
thought when I watched the documentary.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
He's very generous for me. He helped me a lot
in my career. When I was getting ready to leave,
what's the name Kevin Barry, I just caught up ties
and said who should I train off? And then he said,
Andy Lee. So one thing led to the next. Gave
me his gym to use, my house to stay in
for camp. Just love a sponsor. He said to me, Joe,
you've taken everything from me, but you can't take my wife.

(23:48):
I said, don't worry about that.

Speaker 3 (23:50):
I'm all good.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
I'm married. I wouldn't be sort of missing with him
when it comes to that sort of thing, you know,
I mean different for you. You are another heavyweight boxer,
but you know as a civilian. As a civilian, you know,
that's not something that I'd medd on.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
I'll keep him busy.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
You are.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
You're the third boxer that we've had in this week.
Funnily enough, we've had Davidka. We have had the Mountain
Warrior as well, and earlier this week we were talking
about there's one of the political parties that wants to
bring in a law where teachers are allowed to forcefully remove.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
You're doing some sort of shadow boxing.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Ye, yes, I wanted to run it past you as well.
The third Boxer have shown this. This is how I'd
take out an unruly ten year old. So so I'm
I'm figuring I'm going to have the reach advantage right.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
Coming at you.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
They're coming at you in the classroom.

Speaker 5 (24:39):
They're coming some ten year olds that might be your het.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Okay, so my assumption is wrong, But I'm keeping them
at rangers.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
They're keeping them at bay. And then and what's he
going to want to do? Close the distance? That's and
then oh wow, okay upper right.

Speaker 3 (24:55):
So this is the argument Jerry and I have been having.
Would you go with the upper cut or the overhand?

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Right?

Speaker 5 (25:00):
I would see upercut than you do. You know what,
just because if they're coming in lower this, yeah, they're
going to walk straight into it. Use there is what
I've been saying.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
How much under them?

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Though?

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Do you need to get in that situation? I just
guess it depends on the size of the ten year old.
But but you know, because I just thought immediately the
overhand right. I don't know that the overhand rds a
great punch, but if you're coming low, you wouldn't want
to get on the top of the head. That's that's
I mean. I'm not throwing a lot of punches in

(25:32):
my time, but I'm feeling like I break my hand
immediately head. Yeah, which is I'm told as a non boxer,
I'm told that that's a terrible place to punch someone.
It's a real knuckle breaker.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Shane said that how he broke his hand.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
We broke us out many times.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:49):
Yeah, his hands are mounted, they are right as right
his right hand.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
That that knuckle on the on the index finger is
about two inches is further left of where it should be. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
So David Nick is taking on Floyd Mussn. As we
said yesterday, you are Joseph Parker promoter and your official
capacity this weekend.

Speaker 5 (26:10):
I'm excited for this one.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Yeah, what can we expect?

Speaker 5 (26:12):
I'm excited to see what David brings. You know, Floyd
Massn fought my brother John Parker and one and I
just feel like these two guys are on the brink
of of you know that fighting for that world title.
You know that's the next fight is going to be
for the world title ib A f A title. So
this this fight means a lot and in New Zealand soil.

(26:33):
And also he's got a great undercard, very good undercard.
Lis someone a girls fight, which is any ranger, any ranger.
It's actually a very good card, a big card. Makes
me want to get into it.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
What is what are david strengths? What a what are
Floyd strengths?

Speaker 5 (26:59):
David can fight orthodox and sell for But also that
was very ranger and you can pick it like he's
very good at picking the shots and he's actually quite
strong and inside Floyd my son just powerful, powerful comes
forward and David has to be careful of that, you know.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
Pressure. Yeah, okay, I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
I'm looking forward to it too. So you can watch
it via the TV and Z plus event pass. That's
you can go on to the tvn Z plus app
and get that. Also you can download if you haven't downloaded,
TV and Z Plus is an app on your on
your TV. You should probably be doing that soon. But
thanks so much for coming in boxer boxing promoter.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Parker Promotions, Jerry and the Night, the Key Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Joseph Parker, and he's suggesting that maybe Mini you should
get in the rank.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
He was asking because Joseph Parker promoter was not Joseph
Parker boxer, although soon to resume being Joseph Parker boxer.
He's like, would you guys ever do like a you
know what do they call those scraps the fuck life
or something like that, A can't fight, A can't fight
some sort of media spectacle. I was like, give me,
give me Hosking, give me Hosking, and I'll do it.

(28:20):
But I don't want to get knocked out of my
Monday's in front of thousands of people. I mean, I
used to work with Stephen mcciv and he got stretched
three times in those fight for life things. You know.
I don't think he's ever recovered from that. I know,
so I wouldn't want to get humiliated.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Remember Mark Watson, he was the radio talkback host and
he was saying that Jesse Ryder was a pussy and
because he was facing one hundred and forty k an
hour bowling and I'm not sure he was calling him
a pussy, I think because he got out somehow got
out skelled by someone, right, and then he was like,
you know what's wrong with these guys, They just pussies.
The gutless He was calling it his own crickets, gutless.

(28:53):
And then Jessey rides like, well, gutless, it's coming. You
think you're so gutsy, Come it's have a fight. Let's
duke it out. Oh my god, that was a humiliator.
I think it was over in twenty five thirty seconds.
He turned Mark Watson turned his back.

Speaker 3 (29:07):
Oh never never do that. Checked yourself at all times always.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
And I think he wore some running shoes in the
in the ring as well, took an absolute hiding from
juicy ro running shoes. Yeah, had a pair of sneakers
on crack ups.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
Of walking and jendles. Here's a bit of insight into
Joseph Parker. You've just heard him talk, you've seen him flight.
You probably didn't know he smells really good. He's smelling
one of the best smelling men you've ever come across. Yeah,
he's he.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
I don't know what I have to shave that was,
but it smelled expensive.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
Yeah, and the studio still smells like it, which is good.
We probably needed that this morning.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Yeah, he's looking in good neck. Yes, he's looking in
good neck.

Speaker 7 (29:43):
Man.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
You can tell he his itching to get back into
the ring.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yeah. You know when you give someone a give someone
a hard goodbye and he's he's he.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Feels like a piece of furniture.

Speaker 1 (29:52):
He's hard.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
Yeah, it's like a pill.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
It's like a chaise launge.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
Yeah, man, not hearing this.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
He's a nice man. He's a nice man. I don'd
say that even if he wasn't a boxer and could
beat my place.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
And don't, said u v Rodgman.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
I yeah, the radio battles would be interesting.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
King of the Ring.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
I'd take someone on if they're in their sixties. Maybe
Murray Lindsay, the Hidacky Breekfast.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Jerry and Midnight, the Huriarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 8 (30:27):
They needed to bounce back the Warriors and they have
in a big way.

Speaker 9 (30:32):
The running eight tries to one are forty.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Two points to six routes a route that's right. A
dominant performance by the Warriors against the Titans last week,
but tonight they are facing a huge challenge against the
top of the table Penrith Panthers. I'm looking at the
tab odds right now, New Zealand paying two thirty five
the Warriors and Penrith paying in dollars sixty, So decent

(31:01):
favorites the Panthers, and you'd expect that the top of
the table joining us now friend of the show, huge
supporter of the Warriors, Die hemwould you must be very
excited about this game, die because two great teams going
head to head. The Warriors at home are and you
just you'll find out where the Warriors are tonight.

Speaker 6 (31:19):
Absolutely. I mean I'm not fully excited. I'm more sort
of nibbling around like Rogers, who's on a Northern District
wicket in the nineties, you know, just looking for a
bit of movement. That's what I want from the wires
because it's a big call to Marty. Martin is out.
Luke Metcalf has coming to the harves and this is

(31:41):
this feels like it could be this huge bizarre redemption
arc where Metcalf pushes his way into the team. We
beat the top of the table, we sort of start
cementing ourselves back into that top two. I think it's
all on the line and I'm quite confident tonight.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Oh you are? Yeah, I was gonna I was gonna say,
how a you're feeling about this one? Because obviously to
have Penrith as heavy favorites, but they've got some outs,
some key players aren't playing for them, but we do too.
Is this will this change your opinion of either team? Like,
regardless of the result.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
Yeah, I think it will because even though the Penrith
have had out, we've got to remember we played them
at Mount Smart when they were very depleted and they
pulled our pants down and they just took a jagged,
a very easy win. This is a real statement game
for the Wars. We've sort of been up and down

(32:40):
at home and we're both These teams going in have
won three of their last five games, so it's pretty even.
The thing is we play a very similar style of
football and what a worry is Penrith play it just
slightly better however, which which is why they've been four
time Premier winners. But I've got a feeling this is

(33:04):
the turning point. It's going to be a very crisp
evening in Tammocky Makoto eight pm kickoff, very little wind.
I mean it might even might even have a little
bit of frost on a pitch by the end of
the game.

Speaker 1 (33:16):
Well, I know that it can get a little bit
q out west sometimes in Sydney this time of year.
But I'm just thinking about combinations. I think that for me,
I think that just tips Penrith, That tips the odds
in Penris favor is the fact that Luke Metcalfe coming
into the side. And yes, you think, okay, quality player. However,
it's really all about combinations and just and the one

(33:39):
percent is the two percent isn't playing with a bit
of pace. And I think last week we played quickly
and we played accurately. But Penrith, man, they get up
real fast and they I was I thought in the
last game they were fitter than us.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Die Hemud, I completely agree. Actually, I was lucky enough
to be over at Combank Stadium with my son watching
the last time we played Penris, and we went down
twenty points to eighteen, and the schooreline actually was a
lot closer, and I think the game depicted You're right.
We last week we found our form. We're gonna have
to play exactly like that. But the Titans got dusted

(34:15):
by the Cowboys last night, so it's very hard to
find our form on the Titans. However, we do step
up against Penris. I think our forwards looking at a
one two punch sort of through James Fisher Harrison to
what Aaron Clark's doing. I'm excited about Eddie Eemir Tuava.
I mean there's a lot to like about the Warriors,

(34:37):
but this is we've been as I've said, we've been
up and down, and I think this is the time
to prove ourselves.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
Yeah, they're a good football team, Dependthers, they're a bloody
good football team. Dying would but this is going to
be a great game. I can't wait. Diehanmwood, thank you
so much for your time.

Speaker 6 (34:53):
Always a pleasure to have a beautiful weekend.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Jerry and Mnian.

Speaker 10 (34:58):
The Hodarkey Breakfast daily bespoke content that you won't find
on the radio show The HURDARKI Breakfast Podcast.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
Give us a call out eight hundred hardock. If you
want to play, it's academic. We'll ask you five questions.
You've just got to get three correct to win the prize,
which is a fifty dollars Bunnings voucher.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Today, let's go to the lines where we find James
from Auckland. That says in our system that you export line.

Speaker 6 (35:22):
Yeah, that's great.

Speaker 7 (35:23):
How's it going on?

Speaker 3 (35:24):
Good? Thank you mate. We'll get a few ones in
the in the studio. What's what do you reckons? The
best vintage out of New Zealand.

Speaker 11 (35:31):
Of the recent ones twenty twenty four, the crops size
was perfect and the wine was delicious?

Speaker 3 (35:37):
Am I right in thinking that the more recent was it?
Last year was too big?

Speaker 7 (35:42):
There's a lot of bit of talnage left out there,
so yeah, it was.

Speaker 10 (35:45):
It was probably a little bit diluaded.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
But that's what I was hearing, a bit of tonnage
out there.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
What are you two talking about?

Speaker 3 (35:51):
Tonnage?

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Mate, I've got no idea what you're talking about.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
You don't know about tonnage, James.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
I see you alumni of King's College in Utah, Auckland.

Speaker 7 (36:01):
It is the mighty King's College from Otahoo.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
I'm just having a look here. King's College does not
feature on its academic role of honor King's High School
and Dunedin does, But no King's College.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
What's the difference between a college and high school?

Speaker 1 (36:17):
Than there is one. I think it's just a different name. Yeah,
were you.

Speaker 3 (36:21):
Into a college I went to I went to a collegiate.

Speaker 1 (36:24):
I went to a collegiate. I went to collegiates actually,
and a grammar school.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
Sees all right, Let's find out which is better by
asking James five questions.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
Okay, question number one for James in New Zealand, what
day of the week will Father's Day fall on this year?
What day of the week.

Speaker 11 (36:48):
Thursday?

Speaker 1 (36:49):
No, it's Sunday. Stone Gossard is a guitarist? And which band?
Ah past it's Pearl Jam. You've got to get these
three correct, James, chatter Graham and Dhaka are cities in
which country? Uh? No, it's bloody, bloody, bloody heart today

(37:14):
from Sunday? What day? Yeah, you should have got that one, James, don't.
Gossard's obviously Peel Jam.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Chado Grand sounds like a board game. Who do you
want to know the last two? James? How you would
have gone? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (37:28):
Go on?

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Who had the hit song Superstition and I just called
to say I love you? Ah Stevie Wonder, who had
the nickname the Baddest man on the planet.

Speaker 7 (37:41):
Badest planet?

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Uh, yeah, your day it wasn't Michael Jackson, but he
was the baddest man on the planet at one stage.

Speaker 3 (37:53):
Bad Luck, Luck of the drawer, sometimes James.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Jerry and Midnight the hold Key Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
It's the everybody's favorite radio segment, the Friday Top Five,
where we try and find the top five things in
a particular topic. In the past, we've done rivers, We've
done mangna, we've done sexual positions.

Speaker 3 (38:16):
On onions we're no just positions. We've done fruits, We've
done veg We've done cans, Mum's Magic's, Jerry's Lanes, murrays
and comebacks. And today, off the back of a Herald
article that is doing the rounds, it must be August
the seventh, isn't it, Because the biscuit article is doing
the rounds again. And every year I say this, and

(38:37):
every year it does inflame debate again because everybody is
passionate about this. So today top five biscuits. I believe
Edward is on the line from Auckland with a flaming
hot take this morning, Edward, your favorite biscuit, please.

Speaker 6 (38:50):
The humble Griffins Ginger.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
Yeah for comment situation.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
So it's a good biscuit.

Speaker 6 (38:58):
That's a good biscuit.

Speaker 3 (38:59):
Now you've done't it?

Speaker 6 (39:01):
Ah?

Speaker 8 (39:01):
Yeah, coffee tea.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
I'm with you on that, Edward. Thank goodness. I was
going to hang up on you actually if you said coffee,
it's got to be it's got to be tea, black.

Speaker 6 (39:11):
Tea, Yeah, specifically white tea.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Okay, I still might hang up on you, Edward.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
You won't go herbal?

Speaker 7 (39:20):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (39:22):
Really, I need to be able to hang up on
the night. Unfortunately I can't up on you. Go you
go gum boot with the with the ginger nut, surely, Edward?

Speaker 7 (39:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (39:31):
Yeah, when I have a home home and walk about
in gum boot.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
What what about, Edward? What about a ginger nut without
a capite? I mean I wouldn't. I wouldn't go anywhere
near a ginger nut without a cup of tea.

Speaker 6 (39:43):
Yeah you would if I'm hungry enough.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
You're raw dog a ginger nut? Yeah, Jesus, all right,
we'll have to check that. Yeah, ginger nuts. I don't
think he'll be alone either.

Speaker 1 (39:54):
No, but bloody great biscuit, there's no doubt about it.
And and I can honestly say I've been to the
Griffins factory and I've had a fresh gingin nut that's
actually come through hot off the press. Yeah. Literally, it
had just been baked, and not all ginger nuts. It's
having the fresh gingin nut actually is quite different. You
might think you're a muppet, hear me, what a lot
of crap. Often let me tell you it's true. The

(40:15):
ginger nut a fresh engineut is amazing.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
I'll have to take your word for it. Can I
please go? Sea biscuit out of swing on by hard tack.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
So that's a sea biscuit on the on the back
of a fizz boat and then you check the kids
on the back and they hold on, and then you
do a hard left, hard right, and then are real
hard right next, so you swing it back back back,
and then around it goes, and those kids fly over
the top of the wake and mainly fall off and
you'll get a nick injury there.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Sometimes I do like those, but no, I'm referring to
the champion thoroughbred racehorse in the United States who began
the top winning a money winning racehorse in the nineteen forties,
even beating the nineteen thirty seven Triple Crown when a
war admiral by four lengths and a two horse special.

Speaker 1 (41:00):
Okay, cheering, because I see biscuiting is a great way.
I mean, if you've got excess somehow to a boat
and that's situation, a great way to keep the kids
at distance. And they have a great time and you
can't hear them arguing. There's no time they can't hear
them fighting. They look like they're having a great time
until they start waving their arms about jumping up and
down out of the wake.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
I also there's something about there's something about our listeners.
We've activated the Hodaki hive mind this morning because we're
looking for a top five. It's pretty much only been
two suggestions that have come through, and they are disco
and soggy soggy boarding house favored Apparently, I don't know
what that's all about. Genuinely disco, soggy, soggy Dosco soggy

(41:40):
ginger nut, purely ever dunking though olymp no lem. As
far as biskets go, limps, it's not been in the
top five for me.

Speaker 1 (41:56):
Hard to go past a mallowpath. If you ask me,
that mallowpath's got to be in.

Speaker 3 (41:59):
The top Consider mellow paper biscuit.

Speaker 1 (42:01):
That's a biscuit. It's a biscuits. Got the biscuitt squiggles.
Bloody good, particularly now you've got the pineapple lump squiggles.
Oh eat three of those and feel the sugar come
down after that.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
Jerry in the night, the Hodaky Breakfast, it's the bag.

Speaker 1 (42:22):
Today we're looking for the top five biscuits. You can
vote on three four eight three. You can give us
a call like Edward did momentarily, just moments ago, I
voted for the ginger nut on eight hundred Hordaki.

Speaker 3 (42:33):
A lot of ticks coming through on three four eight
three Jerry and a similar veins, super wines and Scotch fingers.
I'm twenty nine. We all know Jerry's all about the
wine biscuit. Excuse me, Yeah, A lot of people coming
through saying super wines.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
I am anti super wine. I'm all about the super wine.
When people think of me, they think of super wind.

Speaker 3 (42:56):
They look at you and they think super Winan.

Speaker 7 (42:58):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
I upset a number of times by what people have
said about me, most recently the accusations that I look
like Michael Hill jeweler.

Speaker 3 (43:05):
And to be fear though on that one, Jerry, if
I could just for a moment you yourself yesterday, couldn't
distinguish a photo of you from Michael Hill Jeweler. I
mean it was a small photo. It was a small photo.
It was because it was a tiny, little photo, little photo.

Speaker 1 (43:21):
It was so small, it was so small it was
literally the size of my thumbnail.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
But also you looked a lot like Michael Hill Jowler
on that photo.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
I'm not loving that. I'm not loving that, And I
got to say, super wine for me, I will stand
by the super Wine is one of the worst biscuits
in the world. I mean, anybody that that hinges their personality,
that hitches it to a super wine has got something
wrong with them. Any biscuit that you have to add
something to as a rubbish biscuit, I mean put the
butter on it. You're already, but the fact that you

(43:50):
got a butter the thing to give it some flavor disastrous.

Speaker 3 (43:54):
Can I throw one at you? Guys? I like the
chocolate wheat, the chocolate wheating. You like the chocolate wheat, Yeah,
they are digestivated those things. I don't know, the bloody
good I like them, you know, chocolate side down. That's
the way, edam you put two of them together, turn
it into a s'more. Ah No, bit much, I think,
but much? What about the Oh god, I've already blanked

(44:16):
on these. We have to ask ge Lane when he
comes in. He buys the grossest biscuits.

Speaker 1 (44:20):
I forget he's a big fan of the malt biscuit,
and then who eats those things?

Speaker 3 (44:25):
Not on purpose. I'm a big fan of the hockey
pokey squiggle. But I would say, I don't really know
that that's technically a biscuit. I mean, there is biscuit
in there, but it's the chocolate and whatever they put
inside there that's doing all the heavy lifting.

Speaker 1 (44:36):
Yeah, I would say, also an arrow root, no, get
that out of here, Come on, get that out of here,
like that has got this missionary biscuit I think you
could ever eat?

Speaker 3 (44:44):
Did your finger a bit of scotch?

Speaker 1 (44:45):
I'll finger some scotch? Yep? Yeah, absolutely, I like an
Anzac biscuit. I support the diggers.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
Yep, yep, yep, yep. Someone sticks through chocolate digestive ginger nut,
hockey pokey squiggle. The Apricot yogurt offering from Copland's Bakery
chain is the best in zid Oh.

Speaker 1 (45:01):
I sort of know that one's got the Yeah, almost
got the baked on yogurt on the outside. Oh, those
are quite good.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
How's this from Blear treble chocolate cockie time that's been
sitting on top of the pie warmers and now she's
all warm and gooey tin out of ten?

Speaker 1 (45:12):
Yeah, I like that. I'll eat a Missus Higgins. Yeah,
if you throw one at me, I'll lead up Missus Higgins.
No problems at all.

Speaker 3 (45:20):
Poop and brisket, boil up spars, Kumita, Dowey's yamo.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
Where do you sit on a Shrewsberry?

Speaker 5 (45:25):
No?

Speaker 3 (45:26):
No, with a shrews can't dry crumbly. Yeah, And I
don't like the little jam stuff that they put in
the middle. You're not tricking me with that star. That's
a gross that's a gross biscuit. Where do you sit
on a ginger kiss? Are they biscuits? Or are they
many cakes with cream in it? Yeah? I think that's
that's a good question.

Speaker 1 (45:45):
Are we still eating Maldi kisses? Have you guys had
one of those? I don't think. I have a look
at the Edmunds in the Edmunds Baking whatever it's called
the Edmunds Was it coke book? Yeah? Someone sick today?

Speaker 4 (45:58):
No?

Speaker 3 (45:58):
No? Someone sick this morning and said, my children are
quite partial to cat biscuits.

Speaker 1 (46:04):
Oh yeahs would you go a Belgian biscuit?

Speaker 7 (46:09):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (46:09):
I love a Belgian biscuit. I think it's a Belgian biscuit,
also known as a Maldi kiss.

Speaker 3 (46:15):
What hob knobs?

Speaker 5 (46:19):
Oh, you're going to piss off.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
With your hob knobs three for eight three eight hundred Hardacy.
We need to lock these, doubtless, there's way too for folks.

Speaker 10 (46:28):
Jerry and Midnight, the Hdiarchy Breakfast, Jeremy Wells and Mania Stuart.
Find them on Instagram at Hodarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
Yeah, that's a good question whether an Afghan is a
racist biscuit or not. I'm not sure, to be honest, Mini,
I mean, does it look like that? Does the Afghan
look like that because it's meant to look like an
Afghany person? Or is that because it looks like Afghanistan
with the craggy bit on the top. How do I
hang up on you.

Speaker 7 (46:55):
To five?

Speaker 3 (46:57):
Here in the middle of it. It came to me
just then the name I was blanking on before. Glane
loves these. We're talking to him about it very shortly.
He always when we go over to the dairy. He
will buy sultana pasties. The only man I know that
I think under the age of like eighty, who buys
sultana pasties.

Speaker 1 (47:12):
No wonder he's so windy?

Speaker 3 (47:14):
Is that it does it?

Speaker 1 (47:15):
Oh? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (47:16):
Yeah? Absolutely late vote for hundreds and thousands biscuits.

Speaker 1 (47:20):
I get out, what are your five? It's like the
animal biscuits. My kids used to love those bloody animal biscuits.
They came in a box.

Speaker 3 (47:30):
K yeah, and they look like different animals. Jeff, A
thin stack after a little dooby. Mint biscuits, Windmill biscuits.

Speaker 1 (47:37):
Mint biscuits are goods.

Speaker 3 (47:38):
Mint biscuits, crispy for a plain burkie, great cheesecake base as.

Speaker 1 (47:42):
Well, as long as we don't have any wine biscuits
on this list. I'm just I hate the souper, I
hate the vanilla, I hate the round white. I mean,
they're all the same biscuit. What what do you keep
changing the name of it?

Speaker 3 (47:52):
Someone's sent through a pretty good point that the biscuit
is situational. So for example, Scotch finger with your coffee
in the car, breakfast on the run afternoon, picked me
up toffee pop, Yes surprises, not chopped chip after the
dip in the oj experiment. That's right. Remember we were
in the experiment. Jared guessed how many biscuits he thought
it would take to soak up an entire cup of tea.

Speaker 1 (48:13):
That's right, that's right. We never quite got We couldn't
we quite get there. We couldn't get hold of enough biscuits,
that's right, ended up only buying one pack we needed too. Yeah,
he cheaked out on us.

Speaker 3 (48:23):
We'll never know the answer to that.

Speaker 1 (48:25):
But why is a wine biscuit even called a wine biscuit?
Because it's a terrible match for wine and it doesn't
taste like wine. No, Actually, hold on, here's a barrel edge.
And according to Griffins, the persistent rumor is that the
flour used to make them in the early milling days
with the wine biscuit was stored in old wine barrels
to keep it dry, which gave the mixed a faint
residual flavor of wine.

Speaker 3 (48:45):
What a dreadfully boring backstory to a dreadfully boring biscuit.
Bug of those things? All right, should we rip into it?
Number five disco? Okay, I I think we're gonna have
to gloss through there and again if you're a new
list to the show. I am just counting the votes.

Speaker 1 (49:02):
What is a disco biscuit? And why would you want
to eat biscuits whilst you're dancing at a disco.

Speaker 3 (49:06):
Don't know, jeseus to dry out one that you'd want
a bit of water? Number four, limp, limp, biscuit gotta
be in there, gotta be in there.

Speaker 1 (49:17):
Only going to try and make it into some kind
of weird gag.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
They're not all wacky gigs, all right, Jerry.

Speaker 8 (49:22):
Number three soggy.

Speaker 1 (49:25):
Come on, this is the most disappointing. But come on,
there's so many good biscuits.

Speaker 3 (49:29):
So you find that disappointing. Number two super wine with butter.

Speaker 1 (49:33):
What get out? I said, I'm not going to have
that on there.

Speaker 3 (49:38):
I'm just counting the votes, man, all right, I'm not
going to rig this in anyway. I'm just counting what
people are voting for, and they're voting for superwines.

Speaker 1 (49:44):
Now, I'm so pleased. We've moved through the time where
you'd get loose leaf tea put in a teapot with
the tea cozy on top, and then it would turn
up with the with the super wines with the butter
on it on the tray with some Doiley.

Speaker 3 (49:58):
James Sixon and said, you're whining now, do you? Number
one couldn't be anything other than the ginger nut, dunked
or raw. Just get into one of those. The best biscuit.

Speaker 1 (50:07):
Oka has an okay redemption story because nothing wrong with
the ginger nut. The other four they can pass.

Speaker 4 (50:12):
Off Jerry and Mini the hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 1 (50:16):
So if you have just woken up, you might not
be aware. But we have passed the threshold of donations
to buy two sharks. We were looking to buy one
and I screwed up the admin on it and ended
up going over, so we thought, why not just keep
going and get two.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
We've actually blown through that as well. We're about two
hundred and twenty six dollars over.

Speaker 1 (50:41):
Yeah, so overnight the last of the donations came in.
Eighty six hundred dollars was our target amount and we
have reached it.

Speaker 3 (50:48):
So we are now not only the first ever radio
show to buy a shark, but the first ever people
anywhere in the world to accidentally buy a second one.
And the man who has tasked worth actually tagging these
things from the Sustainable Ocean Society joins us this morning,
doctor Riley Elliott, are you surprised we've managed to get
to two?

Speaker 7 (51:09):
Oh boys, I'm frothing. I'm so so.

Speaker 11 (51:12):
I don't mean understand how hard it is to raise
money for sharks. These people are genuinely shit scared of them.
But this show's real support.

Speaker 7 (51:20):
And I tuned in last night it was out like
eight hundred bucks. I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 11 (51:24):
And then to wake up this morning and see that
eight and twenty six is just it's awesome, dude, It's
really really cool. It shows that people are interested, fascinated,
care or you know, just want some shares in the
stock shark market.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
But that's pretty awesome, Riley.

Speaker 1 (51:39):
What happens from here? That's the question, because obviously people
are keen to get him behind this. How easy is
it to grab a couple of sharks from here?

Speaker 7 (51:50):
It's very, very hard, but we're very successful at it.

Speaker 11 (51:55):
So if you feel how cold it is this morning,
this is what these sharks are living in the water
down at the bottom of Stuart Island in our summer,
and even in our summer, the water down there is only.

Speaker 7 (52:05):
Like twelve degrees.

Speaker 11 (52:06):
So I go down there between December and May. That's
when the sharks return from Polynesia and Australia.

Speaker 7 (52:13):
We go it on the cage dive boat.

Speaker 11 (52:14):
We align it with either Shark Week shows or when
the cage Dive take us out on their own dime.
And we basically got an island that all the sharks
in the Southwest specific travel to and aggregate.

Speaker 7 (52:26):
The summer, and then we lure them along the.

Speaker 3 (52:30):
Side of the boat.

Speaker 11 (52:31):
I use a specialized spare gun and I insert a
dart at the base of the dorsal fin which has
a little steel trace up to like a mini blimp,
and that mini blimp is the tag. And every time
the shark comes to the surface, that tag breaks the
surface of the water signals to a satellite where it
is and that's when you can see it live on
the Great White app Have we.

Speaker 3 (52:52):
Doctor Royley? Have we accidentally added more work onto your workload?
By accidentally fund and raising for two.

Speaker 7 (52:59):
You have intentionally added more workload to me. But I
am so grateful for it, because, like I said, these
things aren't cheap man.

Speaker 11 (53:06):
I mean, how many donations, Well, they're four hundred and
fifty people donated to this, so that's so wicked and
each year for the last two years, I've tagged fifteen
Great whites, which you know, little old New Zealand.

Speaker 7 (53:17):
We're fundraising like this.

Speaker 11 (53:18):
Australia's spending one hundred and thirty million dollars a year
keeping track of their sharks, which are sharks too, and
it is important that we track them because you know,
there's one side of it that were interested and they're
not misbehaving with Australian surfers. Yeah, there's the other side,
which is that these are protected and endangered animal and

(53:40):
we're killing them about fifty a year between Australia and
New Zealand, either intentionally up there or accidentally in fisheries here.
And these sharks, you know, maintain our ecosystems. They maintained
populations of predators and pray they give us the oxygen
at the end of the day that we breathe at
the bottom of the food chunder fighter plankton. And they
did that service from you know, New Zealand all.

Speaker 7 (53:59):
The way up to the equator and back every year.

Speaker 11 (54:00):
So they are critically important, so learning about them is
pretty pretty important to it.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
Okay, so we need a few more little details here.
Dr Riley Elliott. One is what happens if one of
the two sharks is now we've kind of increased our
chances of this happening. What happens if one of our
two sharks accidentally mistakes a surfer for a seal and
how a little nibble at the side just to see

(54:27):
what's going on there? What happens at that point.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
Because because we'd like to distance ourselves from that.

Speaker 1 (54:34):
Is it like a dog like do they do?

Speaker 5 (54:36):
They do?

Speaker 1 (54:36):
They then try and hunt that thing down? Is it
like jaws? Are they going to try and hunt that
thing down? And should it what happens?

Speaker 7 (54:44):
Definitely? Definitely in Australia they do. But you know that
the good thing for the sharks is they're innocent until
proven guilty.

Speaker 11 (54:52):
It's hard to prove guilt in a fluid environment that's
vast like the ocean. And yeah, several of us I
have to take previo see have been in areas where
you know, adverss interactions happen. But what is important is
we would know nothing if we didn't tag them. By tagging,
then we learn where they go, understand what environmental variables

(55:12):
drive there, and we can better mitigate areas and New
Zealand has been a black hole for Australia for a
long time in the sense we have most of the
adult sharks that then go up there in winter, and
I didn't really know anything about them. So at the
end of the day, you know, you look around your
room and every single item in that room kills more
people a year than sharks does, like toilets and tins

(55:32):
and vending machines, and you know, so we inflate the
risk of sharks massively, but when it happens, it's tragic.

Speaker 7 (55:39):
So that's why we need to learn about them. And
you know, the app is great for people.

Speaker 11 (55:44):
Who can be like, hey, look at my beach.

Speaker 7 (55:46):
Well, there's a great whit shark there this morning. Maybe
I'll just swim them in the shoreline. Are in the
palls of that Yeah?

Speaker 1 (55:50):
What are they doing? Just quickly, Riley, what are they
doing up the GOLDI because are they going to dream
World or you know, movie World or what are they
up to up there? They're getting job scaffolding, they definitely
and Fovo straight at some point because I've had a
look on the app and they love it down there.

Speaker 11 (56:06):
Yeah, So basically they and the second Way Alarm telling
me that I've got a shark oh coming.

Speaker 7 (56:13):
In has just picked up.

Speaker 11 (56:15):
So basically they go to Goldie because like us, New
Zealand gets crap and depressing in cold and winter, and
so they go up there where all the checks are
hot and it's.

Speaker 7 (56:23):
Sunny and you know, you can have a good time.

Speaker 11 (56:26):
And so they literally move with the water temperature. And
only a third of them go to the Goldie. A
third of them go to Polynesia as well, which is
pretty cool, and we don't really know what they do
up there because it's such a big, vasty area. And
so when they come back, what it's called, all of
them come back to this one island just between Stuart
Island and in the Cargo. So that's where we tag them,

(56:47):
learn about them, and then we follow them when they move.
So you guys have done the first step, which is
we've got two sharks, you know. Sponsored Now we'll tag
them between December and May when they all return, and
then people should download the Great White apps you can
fill all of them, because there's already fifteen jacks on
there this summer. I hope I'll take fifting more and
we'll continue to learn about them. But what I'm most
excited about is what names are going to end up

(57:09):
being on.

Speaker 3 (57:09):
The shut We're going to run that by Ryan Fox
on Monday.

Speaker 1 (57:13):
Yep. There's been certainly a lot of votes and we're
going to collect those over the weekend. Dtor Riley Elliott
and come back with that on Monday. And champion goal
for Ryan Fox because it was five hundred dollars donation
gets veto rights over any of those names. Oh no,
let's just say yoppers at the moment as a front runner.
Dtor Riley Elliott, thank you so much for your time
this morning.

Speaker 11 (57:33):
No, thank you guys, and thank you to all the
fauner for someone people who donated really appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (57:38):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (57:38):
It's incredible.

Speaker 4 (57:40):
Jerry and Mini.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
Hold I keep Breakfast Sports Chats with acc Head g
Lane brought to you by Export Ultra.

Speaker 1 (57:49):
The b for here. Welcome to the studio acc Head
g Lane, who's going to be commentating the Stormers versus
the All Blacks tomorrow morning early five A.

Speaker 8 (58:00):
Yeah, five am.

Speaker 9 (58:01):
I can't wait to talk to myself for a couple
of hours on a Saturday morning at five am. But hey,
these ones are late because the actual test matches are
three am so good daytime footy over and Sea because
they've done it on purpose.

Speaker 8 (58:13):
But they love daytime footy in South Africa. They love it,
you know. You see the shots of joe Burg.

Speaker 9 (58:18):
And the sun and everyone's out smashing beers and eating
their bookies. O.

Speaker 1 (58:22):
We love daytime rugby in New Zealand, but for some
reason they've decided that we're not allowed it.

Speaker 9 (58:27):
Yeah, well when the MPC's facts that though, there's some
great afternoon footage. I think tomorrow is a crack at
Auckland versus Wellington at Western Springs at two in the
afternoon and then yeah they've converted.

Speaker 8 (58:37):
I mean it's great stuff.

Speaker 9 (58:38):
And then down in Dunedin there is the Ramfrey Shield
changes at two o'clock as well.

Speaker 8 (58:43):
So good to see that MPC is waving the flag
for times in which people actually like to go to rugby.

Speaker 3 (58:49):
So I'd like to issue an apology to the people
of the Wider Counties Monaco district because before I said that,
don't worry about losing that game last night because no
one was there to watch it. Few texts coming in.

Speaker 9 (59:01):
I apologize, I don't apologize, don't knock my Harbor team Okay,
that was a big victory for them last night.

Speaker 3 (59:07):
It was huge. Yeah, points Harbor, I like, do you
know what the NPC.

Speaker 8 (59:11):
I love the NPC and the fact that you can
have a couple of teams. You have a couple of teams.

Speaker 9 (59:15):
Mulus was my my turning and Wai Wai obviously, but
Harbor is where I live, and I've got a soft
spot for southmand as well because they love their footy
down there. They love their footy and I appreciate it.
So I've got three teams. We're in Super Rugby. You
kind of boxed into a corner.

Speaker 8 (59:28):
Of just hating the Crusaders and supporting your team.

Speaker 3 (59:32):
Unless your saying as the cressetdes I was going to say, Geelan,
you just missed. We were talking the top five biscuits, yes,
and I was talking about you're the only man I've
ever seen by a pack of sultana pesties.

Speaker 8 (59:44):
On purpose till I die, till I die. And you've
got a bit of fruit in there. You know, you've
got some bit of bit of fiber. I mean you
you're probably a mellow puff or something fucking equally is.

Speaker 3 (59:55):
Brown on the outside and one on the inside it allegation.

Speaker 1 (01:00:01):
I know that you're a big fan of the Sultana
pasty Gilane, and that probably is something to the reason
why you're so windy, because it's the Sultana coming through.

Speaker 3 (01:00:13):
Yeah, have you never thought of that?

Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
And do you know what? Do you know what is
quite good?

Speaker 9 (01:00:15):
Because I mean often I'd go down and see sixty
eyes at the and I would get a packet of biscuits.
And often if you get like a popular Squiggles or
some like that, something that's widely popular, you only get one.

Speaker 12 (01:00:31):
And then the seagulls come around and all the early
biscuits are they going, and they're all they freebies. No
I bought them, but Sultana pasties everyone goes ooh, And
I'm like, yeah, right, I eat the whole damn lot.

Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
Yeah, that's wise. The Warriors playing the Panthers tonight. The
Warriors not favorites two dollars thirty five the Panthers a
dollar sixty.

Speaker 9 (01:00:52):
Yeah, we haven't played well at home, that we I mean.
But this is I mean, going on last week's I
heard you talking to Die this morning. City's kind of excited,
a bit more exciting. The Roger two's kind of way, yea, rather,
but it's this, I mean, I can't I cannot wait
to watch this game tonight. How good is it, though,
that you can watch so much rugby rugby league? And
you know what, I'm sick of people telling me that

(01:01:14):
rugby is dead and you should get on the wires.

Speaker 1 (01:01:16):
Why can I have both?

Speaker 8 (01:01:18):
I love them both. I love watching the words tonight
and I will watch a lot of n PC and
I'll watch you all blecks because I have to. It's
my job at five o'clock tomorrow morning, live and free
on Hodaking as well.

Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
By the way, so what do you know about the
Stormers team?

Speaker 8 (01:01:30):
Absolutely nothing.

Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Yeah, he's playing Shock Burger. I think he might be
in there still, and maybe Ollie LaRue, Brian Obarna is
still going around, I think so.

Speaker 8 (01:01:41):
Yeah, Percy Montgomery, I think he might be pisting around.
Might have no idea.

Speaker 9 (01:01:46):
It is pre season for them, so I actually know
zero about them because obviously they're playing in the Northern
Hemisphere League, so they're kind of in their preseason and
what better preseason to play the ablex.

Speaker 1 (01:01:56):
Well, the orbles almost unbeckable a dollar one with the
tab the storm was paying fifteen.

Speaker 3 (01:02:01):
Back I'm still keeping tabs on my conspiracy theory that
a first five is going to get injured in this
game and Richie wong is going to be called it.

Speaker 9 (01:02:06):
I think any back gets injured. I think I'm going
to go wider than that. Midnight and I say any
back gets injured.

Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
Yeah, well that's what I was thinking when I saw
it was at Wallace the TV. Who's undercooked his bry
and fallen ill? I thought, starting at flanker, Richie Wonger.

Speaker 8 (01:02:22):
There's a bit of sickness going round over there.

Speaker 9 (01:02:24):
Yeah, but fenne Young and Norfolk was sick in the
first week, unavailable for selection for this match as well.
So side Teddy's obviously eaten from the same brye in
the same bookie.

Speaker 3 (01:02:33):
And did they not learn no?

Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
Also Louis late is he's he's passed down an edict
to say, hurt those all blacks. I want them hurt.
I want them hurt in these games, going.

Speaker 8 (01:02:48):
In to tell you what you must them up.

Speaker 3 (01:02:50):
You must them up, hurt.

Speaker 1 (01:02:52):
Them, hurt them like the eighty six Cavaliers to acc here.
G Lane, thanks so much for coming in.

Speaker 8 (01:02:57):
It's always a pleasure.

Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Don't get your Sultana Festis.
