Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Hierarchy Breakfast, Get Set for Winter with Bunnings Trade, Jeremy.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Wells and the nice Stewart The Hurdarchy Breakfast Whole.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Jerry's away.

Speaker 4 (00:12):
Me.

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Should I say my name?

Speaker 5 (00:14):
I suppose you say your name? Yeah, welcome into the show.

Speaker 1 (00:17):
And I know Jerry as you just heard.

Speaker 5 (00:19):
There's a Way to Flat Earth conference this week and
Stead has been really welcome and Ben.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
Hello, Hello, everyone, Hello, and you see how did that
alarm go this morning? For you? It's not too bad.
I'm staying very close to the studio. Yeah, it really helps.
That helps.

Speaker 5 (00:32):
I'm got to be honest with you every now and
then I'll have one of those. Last week went to
Fat Freddy's on the Sunday night.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
That alarm I thought was a joke.

Speaker 5 (00:39):
When it went off in the morning, I was like, oh, no,
I've set the alarm for the wrong time.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Chick. You fun, No, no, no, this's this worktime for you. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (00:45):
Absolutely, brutal, massive show coming up later on. We're talking
to Money Butterify. That's going to be closer to about
nine o'clock. He's fighting on the undercar for David Yika's
fight just announced last week.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
Did you see that I did. Yeah, I'm going to
ask him questions purely about dancing. Yeah, I think that's
what the listeners want to hear. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:03):
I also want to know how the hell he's going
finding a partner to fight, because as of last week
he hadn't had anyone.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
Yeah. Well, I'm going to give us a text on
three four eight three if you want to fight the
beast in the ring.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Yeah, Heap's coming up between now and then. Gla enjoins
us as always, so did some downsides. Look, it's it
can't all be you know, I can't be money, all right,
It's ups and downs.

Speaker 6 (01:30):
Jerry and Mini the hold ikey breakfast Hurley sounds what's
going on this morning?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
And yeah, good good morning to you early.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
I want to know about you went on a bit
of a Southern road trip recently, a tour of the
South doing stand up and you went to sort of
my neck of the woods as my It was the
Matata which is the gateway to the lakes down there
in the in the South Islands, where I ended up
in most of my school holidays down there, cracking ice

(02:02):
off the lake to get in for a dip something.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Yeah, do you know I've been doing this twenty five years,
and so I thought I'd been everywhere in New Zealand.
I don't think i'd ever driven on that road before. No,
you wouldn't it. What is that the six? I don't
even know. I would have no idea is it even
technically a state highway? It was better than I thought. Actually,
a great place on Matata. I think it's maybe growing

(02:27):
a little bit since you were there. Well, that's what
I was.

Speaker 5 (02:30):
This is what I was thinking, because when I heard
you were going down there, I was like, there's about
fourteen people that live in that town.

Speaker 1 (02:34):
Six hundred homes, I was told by the publican.

Speaker 5 (02:37):
But then how many people live in those homes because
a lot of those batches aren't there?

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah? Yeah, or did you just translate for North Islander.

Speaker 5 (02:46):
Yes, yeah, Well we learned and this is an interesting one,
particularly for where Odios is that we did the line
of demarcation for butros Crib the White Tacky River, Oh right,
the north of the White Taka River at a batch
and anyone south, that's where you'll get.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Crib Crib is really quite southern. That's quite southern.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
Yeah, But then interestingly only just right on the literally
on the White Taka River. Yeah, but technically on the
crib side, so you're right.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
I did for seven to as a side quist here,
I did the line of demarcation for Tag and Tiggy.
That's right. For seven sharp Ones, that's right where it was.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
That was just north of Topa, wasn't it correct, which
is about where most of them have been.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Obviously there's a lot of North Island. It was basically
the White River. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
Well, and I think we also looked up where the
exact midpoint.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Of the population in the country is. Oh, yeah, we
were there.

Speaker 5 (03:38):
It's right there, right there is south of Hamilton.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:41):
The other problem with any of those topics, though, there
always is an outlier in the Hawks Bay.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Yes, a weird Hawks Bay chapter.

Speaker 7 (03:47):
I feel like some of the Hawk's Bay had crib
head holiday homes. They've got this thing called be aware
instead of beer bong, and it seems to be the
only place in the country that does it.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Yes, very Yeah, So what we found is North Island
South and then there's Hawks Bad.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
It's always of strange, it is. So how did the
good going Odie? Really great? Actually? I did Bowclouther and
then I did Dunedin and then I did os in
three nights and I've got to say all healthy sized crowds,
but that was the biggest. Yeah at the pub, there
a couple of hundred in there, and yeah, I think

(04:24):
a few had traveled from far and wide twice and
that is quite far. But a tough crowd to a fiend,
don't imagine down there. Correct, Yeah, there was. Look, it
was great, actually it was. You know, you felt quite
hunkered in there. It was cozy and certainly well looked after,
you know, joined some dinner. You mate just brought out

(04:45):
half a cow, chuck it on a spit. Yeah, basically
it was a delightful hospitality.

Speaker 5 (04:52):
Someone just tax through oda matatas were on from small world, Yeah,
even smaller towns small, that's not a world.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
I've got time.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
I've I've been to bell Cluther a handful of times,
obviously grown up down there, but one of the most
traumatic times in my life was head in bell clother where.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
We my mother and I went down to the Katlan's.

Speaker 5 (05:12):
There's a pitch forest and that down that east coast,
down past Bellcluther and we went down there and our
car I think the radiator blew up or something.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
The car blew up. That's not where you want, No.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
No, absolutely not. And so we're like, all right, bargaret
the mechanic came out. I had to look at it. No,
those things not going anywhere. All right, great, we're gonna
have to bust back to Waymany from there. And the
bus stopped in Bellcluther. It's the midnight bus. We pull
up outside the pub and Bellclouther to pick a few
people up. And as we pull up, I'd say, like
one hundred man fight spells out of the door.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
It was the most insane scrap. And I'm a kid.

Speaker 5 (05:46):
So I'm sitting on the bus, face pressed against the
glass watching this massive scrap break out there.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
And the bus drivers like.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
We're just gonna do a lap of bell Cluther and
we'll come back shortly and see if we can't pick
people up there. We come back, scrap's still going on,
and we did two laps before we finally managed to
evacuate this family out of Clue.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
They would have called it, You would have called the cops,
but the cop was probably involved. Yeah, any was.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
Oh, welcome to hear you at a successful tour of
the South.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
Beautiful, beautiful place, beautiful people cold. Yeah, it was getting
pretty chilly. Yeah yeah, Odamatada was below zero. Yeah when
I walked out, just the one just whipping up that
whitetaki elly there. Yeah. Stunning, stunning nights though.

Speaker 6 (06:28):
Yeah, Jerry and Minni the hold Ikey breakfast.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
The Warriors kept their winning streak alive over the week
in being thirty points to twelve.

Speaker 8 (06:37):
Six tries to two as.

Speaker 9 (06:39):
The booze again ring out over cong wrap. They're fans
not happy with the Dragons, but Warriors.

Speaker 8 (06:47):
Fans could rejoice at six in a row.

Speaker 9 (06:50):
That top two slot is better down and your team
is home thirty points.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
To twelve and eight thousand Dragons fans booing their team.
I was watching this game on the couch and the
missus goes, they burn us. I was like, no, no, no,
they burn themselves, and she goes, geez, that's that's terrible,
And I said, this has been happening all seasoned out.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
It's a strange phenomenon, isn't it in the NRL, especially
with those older clubs. I reckon the older the club,
the more they expect some something, some backbone or something.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Because I think so the Dragons have still got the record,
I think for the most championships, but I won it.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
For like fifteen years straight in the twenties. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
I was going to say it's like during the war
or something else. I have no memory of them being
a good club since Marke Gasnel left.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Basically. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (07:36):
So, but going into this game, there was a lot
of I don't know, there's something about being a Warriors fan.
We always fear the worst. There's some sort of like
battered dogs, this situation where you're like, I know they're
going good, but this is the kind of game that
we lose.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Well, we all start to succumb to magical thinking, right,
we all start to think if we start saying, oh,
we've got a champion team here, yeah, then then somehow
we're going to affect the result. Yes, yeah, us at home,
out of shape, eating chips on the couch.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
Yes, I have a direct but the socks I'm wearing
when I'm watching the Warriors have a direct impact on
how they play. I even saw that a lot of
the Australian pundits were saying that that they were thinking
that this was going to be an upset, that the
Dragons are going to get up, and I just thought,
I don't know, in the past that looked like it
could have been a banana pill. I just feel like
it's different this year. We don't rely so heavily on

(08:27):
one person or one player. Next man up, just we
continue rolling to Mighty Martin. I thought looked good. Tenfoil
hat stuff. I said last week, is there a chance
that Luke Metcalf never plays for the Warriors again?

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Does he want to?

Speaker 5 (08:42):
This is the thing. I don't know. Web came out
and said, oh, he needs another week. I didn't see
him in the New South Wales Cup and it's Winey
Martin looked pretty good.

Speaker 1 (08:53):
I mean, does he not?

Speaker 8 (08:55):
We does he not look good?

Speaker 1 (08:56):
But he also played well. Do you think Luke mc
casts the first league player in history to have the
Hugh Grant haircut? He's got quite fopper share, I believe.
Is how you described that.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
I could not picture another Hugh Grant.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
No, he's got the Q Grant. It just doesn't fit
with league league players.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
No, it doesn't. Is he in between there again?

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Do you think he's almost a Union player? No?

Speaker 5 (09:20):
No, in between haircuts thirty points to twelve in the end,
akpiz Mrighty Martin and this meant Obviously a lot of
people have really struggled well with the pronunciation of a
lot of the Warriors players, but particularly our right winger.
So I thought I'd play this to help you guys
with it.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
Da what tesby and lesbian?

Speaker 10 (09:41):
Dallian what tesneya the lesbian?

Speaker 1 (09:45):
I'm just going to try that again, Dai what tesby
and a lesbian? What tesby and lesbian? I've heard all sorts.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
I used to work with someone in the mainstream sports
media who called him Dylan with tesneyk.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
What got mede? But that that one takes the cake.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
So now we're it up for a top of the
table clash against the Panthers, the only team above us
on the table.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
It was Stephen Donald, wasn't it. It was Stephen Donald.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Jerry in the Night the Hold Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
We're just talking about the Warriors mopping up the Dragons
on the weekend. Hurley and Rude has done the research
for us. They their last win was in August last
year against the Sharks.

Speaker 1 (10:22):
Nearly. I mean to be a fair of them, To
be fair to them, they don't play in September because
that's finals. That's a good point.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
They've now lost fifteen in a row. I mean, how
would you go as a Warrior's fan if we lost
fifteen in a row?

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Have we done that? I don't think we're done to fifteen.
That must be close to a record. Surely you would
think in the competition, Oh you certainly in the NRL.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
Era you would probably find out that they themselves did
it back in the eighteen nineties or something like that.

Speaker 7 (10:50):
So we're going to be playing the Penrith Panthers Sunday night,
eight fifteen, which obviously we'll go to just ten o'clock
on a Sunday night. You might be like, oh, that's
a little bit late for a school night. Yeah, we
got public holiday on Monday. Oh King's Birthday.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Oh and a big caulder to the King.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Jerry and mid Night the Hdarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
Time for your latest sports headlines thanks to export Ultra
of the beer for here and read to you by
Benjamin Early.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
The Cowboys have wrapped up the twelfth round of the
NRL with a thirty to eighteen win over the Rabbit
O's in Townsville was State of Origins opening match approaching
on Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Oh see, we've just talked about this off here early
the Wednesday. It's a week ruiner, isn't it. I think
over a certain age, you can't handle a midweek midnight.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Yeah, particularly if you've got an early start like you do. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Oh but even when I didn't, I just think because
obviously the game's put down to start at ten pm,
but by the time they muck around and they don't
even have Guskill doing his last word anymore, but it
still manages to blow out to kick off at ten thirty,
and then the game finishes.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
At twelve thirty.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
It's a week ruin it for anyone over thirty.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Yeah. I also think it's one of the few games
of professional sport that does start on time. Yeah, because
it weirdly blows out another twenty minutes after it's supposed
to start. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:06):
I suppose competing with no one else. But yeah, you're a.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Queensland Queenslander, is are you? Yeah? I'm Queensland soft. I
don't know I know Queensland soft.

Speaker 5 (12:16):
I'm Queensland soft because I lived over in Australia and
the amount of Kiwis who were like I bleed blue,
and I'm like, name a place in New South Wales
outside of Sydney.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
What are you read? Are you? Are you Queensander or
are you a dick?

Speaker 7 (12:31):
I go for Queensland for the stupid and simple reason
that my school uniform was moron.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Yep, that's all you need.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
That's generally what my thought. You went to the Goldie
once when you were seven.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Yeah, that usually helps. North Queensland moved to sixth and
South Sydney stay seventh on the latter. That's the end
of that bit of news. And here's the next. But
championship leader Alex Palau and Sir Scott Dixon are dueling
for the lead through eighty three of two undred laps
in the Indy five hundred simply too many laps.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
I also don't know how I feel, and God blessing
me deserves it, But I don't know how I feel
about knighting people when they're still doing the thing that.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
It's weird, isn't it. Dame Lisa Carrington will go to
the next Olympics, CA. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
I also it kind of reminds me of the people
that named their daughter Kalisi before the last season of
Game of Thrones came out.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yeah, that's weird. Question.

Speaker 7 (13:23):
What if we just start calling you sermon I Stewart
during the show.

Speaker 10 (13:26):
Is that okay?

Speaker 1 (13:27):
I mean that's well.

Speaker 5 (13:29):
Yeah, I've also, in a similar vein thought about getting
the Olympic rings tattooed on my forearm.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Just a full stolen valop middle made. Yeah. In Tottenham
Hotspur have survived in football's Premier League for another year.
Could see a one mail victory over Everton on the
final day of the season. West Ham have been relegated
despite beating Leeds three. Now, oh well, apologies for the
fake news on Friday.

Speaker 5 (13:51):
Were it all relegated Tottenham Hotspur, but they managed to
stay in so sorry for anyone who was misled by us.
We are the home of the round ball. Here in
New Zealand's.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Jerry and Mini, the hold Ikey.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
Breakfast and Hurley Jerry away this week on filming duties yesterday,
missus goes to me early, why don't we why don't
go for a bit of a bushwalk, you know, get
out into nature, get away from the devices.

Speaker 1 (14:15):
When you're as kaid and your parents say that on
a Sunday, that's the end of your weekend. Yeah, god,
do we have to do this? Yes?

Speaker 5 (14:24):
Do you ever take your kids on a on a bushwalk.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
Yeah they complain.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
Yeah, yeah, Now do they Now do they complain while
they're at home or do they complain the entire way
around the bushwalk?

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, it's from start to finish.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
Yeah, so this is what we encountered, and to be fair,
we did go. It was like an urban bushwalk. It
was on Auckland's north shore. You could walk around. It's
like a little tree top thing over there on the
north shore. Anyway, she goes, get out of the house,
just sitting here, scrolling on our phones, you know, watching TV,
playing PlayStation whatever, Go and get in Monk's nature. Bit
a piece bit, a quiet bit of relaxation. Move The

(14:58):
body will feel much better as soon as we get there.
It's a one of those Cody dieback situations. And now
you're stumbling on using scraping on this one, we're squirting
some bloody things.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Okay, yeah, good note, we're saving the Cody trees.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
Walk in there and the first people we come across
are three abreast taking up the entire track, walking towards us,
and we make eye contact with them.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
They make eye contact with us.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
Hids boomers, not hivers, boomers, no foreigners and earthy tones
is what these eyes were.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
Those are the two uniforms. Yes.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
No, And so these foreigners and earthy tones make eye
contact with us, do the weird little put your lips away,
no smiles sort of thing when you don't speak the
same language. And they just keep walking at us, and
I'm like, oh, so now you just want me to
walk off into the bush so that you can come
past me. Here just about laid down a hunker. I
was that offended. At the very last second, we just

(15:53):
we sort of had to turn to our side so
they could walk past us. It's like, okay, that fine,
We're just gonna we're gonna flush that because we're having
a nice, relaxing family bushwalk and we are destressing. The
next thing comes around the corner is the kids. It
was a mum and it looked like about six or
seven kids. It was out of control.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah, so they're all over the place.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
They're all yelling at us, hello, hello, hi sweet Now
that sensory overload. Behind them was another group of about
three or four kids, and that parent had just given
in given one of them a iPad that was blaring
whatever whatever.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Kids on a bushwalk, Yeah, I don't know. I've never
seen that.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
No, there were like only two or three parents for
it seemed like twelve kids. And so the back one
who had the youngest kids with her had just given
in completely.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
It was like, yeah, bugger at hega.

Speaker 5 (16:48):
So now I'm getting the teny sounds of some children's
show blaring past.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Me as well.

Speaker 5 (16:54):
We get to the beautiful lookout part of the walk
and we park up.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
And oh, this is cool. What's that down there? Blah
blahlah this it.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
Comes out of nowhere. This sounds like anti kid rent.
But anyway, this one comes out and just starts quizzing
me as if I'm a dad, like what's that down there?

Speaker 1 (17:07):
I was like, oh no, I'm not. I'm not sure.

Speaker 5 (17:08):
Why is that like that? Hey, I don't love you
like I don't know. I don't have to answer and.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
These questions, and she just screams and points and says stranger, danger.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
Jerry and Mini the Hodikey Breakfast.

Speaker 10 (17:23):
That's enough manby Camby Metro News.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
It's time for the real stuff. Ben Hurley's Rural Round
Up News. You can get it. By a plane with
a dozen terrists on board, was preparing to land at
Queenstown Airport after a scenic flight to Melfolk Sound, whin
they unexpected to happen. A rugby ball struck the side
strut of the Cisner Grand Caravan as it flew over

(17:48):
the sports grounds of Queenstown Events Center towards Runway fourteen
of the airport.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
I've been looking forward to doing it because every time
you've done this, I've been away. Yeah, and so the
rural round up to happen while I'm here. I'm just
and I couldn't have started any better.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Fortunately, nobody in the aircraft was injured and the aircraft
landed safely.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
Hang on, they're flying over the top of the sports grounds.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
How much of a legiond are you if you've done
a punt so high it's hit a plane.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
Yeah, it's like a car. All the all the players
have been trying to hit the ceiling. Yeah, right points
down they've been. I mean I've been to that.

Speaker 1 (18:23):
It is right next to the airs right there.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
You can see the pitch of the cricket ground from
the departure lounge.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah, it is that close.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
How do you know that he wasn't just going for
touch and then he you know, was he actually trying
to hit the plane and was what happens in Is
it dead ball or is the plane part of the
field like a reef.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
More than a month after eels and fish died when
a coastal one or two lake dried out. The cause
is still yet to be revealed. Thousands of eels were
rescued from Poky Pooky Lagoon by local ewe in early April.
Rescued Yeah, yeah, when did you come this way? I
was going to check in smoky Yeah. Rescued on the

(19:05):
barbecue yea when regional council staff discovered the water had
gone after a period of dry weather. There's a dried
up again with a whole bunch of dead eels. I
don't know. And Whitecoat Junior Rugby League canceled all fixtures
eduled for yesterday after a series of escalating sideline incidents,

(19:25):
including fight threats and abuse directed at referees and officials.
Is that is that?

Speaker 5 (19:31):
I mean, if you're going to shut down every rugby
league fixture that has a scrap at it isn't that
part of the fabric of the game.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
But I don't think these are on the field, No,
I think these are parents on the sideline.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Isn't that what you go for is for the culture
on the side. I've been to a couple of grassroots
rugby league games. The atmosphere is tense, especially.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
With the kids. Yeah, like the parents on the side.
I went up a couple of times, out and and chatting.
Were you under the power lines?

Speaker 5 (20:01):
There mighty roosters and look there's some vociferous cheering put
it that way. Yeah, oh yeah, You're lucky I didn't
come across from mate.

Speaker 7 (20:11):
So apparently some of the behavior has been from the adults.
Physical altercations and car park areas, fights and non permitted areas,
threats being made and verbal abuse aimed at junior refs
in operational stuff.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Will that happen in the State of Ogin this week?
Will there be a few fights in the car park?
You would have to think so, it wouldn't be State
of oge In. Otherwise, Camen Munster, he's a car park fighter.

Speaker 5 (20:34):
One hundred percent. One hundred percent. They should I know
that they've been up like making the rugby League seven
a bit more like American sports. They should follow the
players up the tunnel when they get off the bus.
I just have a full on Connor McGregor stoush out
the back. My first time hearing Hurley's rural roundup, and
it did not disappoint there. Jerry in the night they

(20:56):
breakfast looked from regular gave as a call just before
he wanted to talk about the WSL, the World's Surf League,
which is down there in Ragland this weekend. I believe
the finals are gone down today, but I'm not sure
exactly how that works. So give us another call, Luke
if you want to have a gasbag about that. I
am the voice of board sports in New Zealand, but
they decided to go with someone else this year. I

(21:18):
guess here is he Lukes Online Morning has Ragland this morning?

Speaker 11 (21:25):
Mate? That is one of the days to be in
Ragland today. It is absolutely saying. The sun is just
coming up, the winds dropped off all the bloody hardly
any one down here years, so you can get a
good seat right out front as stellar.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
So who looks at the weather? More farmers or surfers?
Do you reckon, Luke.

Speaker 11 (21:44):
Drey Wales neither. I was quite keen to have some
pretty solid wheel the chat with them this morning. But
your real round up then that was I'd say you're
on top there.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (21:57):
Next, I will give you his number off here you
can call Jerry's was up the weather chat?

Speaker 1 (22:01):
And where are we at on the tournament? Is this
the finals today?

Speaker 4 (22:05):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (22:05):
Well so we're down to the woman had their semi
final last night and it was it was just one
of those nights that everyone's performing really well, including the crowd.
And yeah, so the men's got the I think it's
quarters and semis and down to this final. The biggest
air ever at Montuvel has had yesterday.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
I think I saw that on Instagram. Yeah, unbelievable out
of ten?

Speaker 9 (22:29):
Was it?

Speaker 1 (22:30):
It was?

Speaker 11 (22:30):
It was a ten score. Yeah, we were sitting directly
behind the photographers and he almost he always got the
highs there of rugby ball and had a plane.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
How has the how has the weather been? How has
the surf been across the weekend.

Speaker 11 (22:46):
This Well, it's been a ten day tournament and it
started off kind of pretty average, to be honest, pretty
small waves, pretty choppy. We've had these easterly winds that
have that have been really punishing. Easterly is actually and
almost an on shore believe it or not. Yeah, like
rats round and then it went dead flat, which was

(23:08):
perfect for the competition because all the locals and the
in the the pros all ended up out at Real Pookie,
which is my little local beach and absolutely ran the place.
They would get in really good ways, just in the
offshore breeze there. And then they all went on holiday,
went to Hobiton, had a great time around the region,

(23:30):
checking out the bright of our falls and how good
the White Kadow's got to all the good things White
Coos got to offer. And then the serfs just turned
on in the last sort of forty eight hours and
it's been really cool seeing oh perfect.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
And what's it been like in town? Imagine it's absolutely heaving.

Speaker 11 (23:46):
It's been like New Year's every night.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (23:49):
Andy who organizes all the gigs, old Ink bar owner,
he's he's got everything g ed up and lined up,
had some good DJs, everything's been sold out. It's great,
all right.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
Well enjoyed the last Dame. Thanks very much for the call.
Look from Rags wsls still ongoing today. It sounds like
you can still get down there and get yourself a
good pussey coming up on the hold Ache Breakfast Crusher
Collins has given up her posts. She was the inaugural
Space Minister. Did you know we had a space minister?
Did you know we had space?

Speaker 1 (24:19):
We were? I mean, you sound it's got lots of
space on the ground, but there's Penny above and we
we shoot things up into it. Yeah, that's all right.

Speaker 5 (24:25):
Watch you gotta think if we're going to shoot someone
up to the moon, who would be the first key.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
We put on the moon first? Keep on the moon.

Speaker 5 (24:33):
Everything and get you text thro three four eight three.
We'll discuss it up next.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Jerry and Mania joined the complate the Hodaki Breakfast discussion
group on Facebook. For more Jerry and Mania, catch the
radio show from six to ten weekdays, The DARKI Breakfast.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
Jerry's away this week, so joining Mania on the hold
Ache Breakfast is the great New.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Zealander be.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
Oonay, Jess, I'll be waiting a year and a half.
Congratulations earlier. Yes, he's stepping in for Jerry this morning
and through into a Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
It's very good to have you with us.

Speaker 8 (25:07):
Jerry.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
I think we could say he is away filming Taskmaster season.
In whatever a million of task Masters.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
There's been two since mine. I think mine was fourth.

Speaker 5 (25:17):
Yes, and as you know, they don't have. You can
only go on there once, that's right. Yeah, So because
Paksasadi has been on there, I now will never be
on task. No, are you the same person as far
as the entirety of New Zealanders are.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Yes, practice of the Bahai faith. Look, there's a.

Speaker 5 (25:37):
Lot you don't know about me early massive hour of
radio coming up. But money he's looking for a fight.
He's coming into the studio in the hopes of finding
any won't find it with me.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
So he literally doesn't have anyone to fight.

Speaker 5 (25:48):
Well, as of yesterday there was no opponent named, so
I don't so they must be in talks with someone
that we can ask him where that's at. But as
of certainly last week, there was no no opponent found
for her.

Speaker 1 (26:01):
There were some brawlers in bow cloth you were telling
me about, Oh yeah, maybe there's someone down there. He
was to have a go.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
All one hundred of the people I saw pour out
of the bell clo of the part versus one manuva
be looking forward to that fifty all of Bunnings voucher
up for grabs with its academic plus your chance to
join our gang.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Right to the street dogs.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
We've got two street dog electric motorbikes motorbikes rather to
give away and your chance to do that before eight
o'clock this morning. But next who should be the first Kiwi.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
On the Moon? Would they plant the flag, the laser
Kiwi flag? You have to think.

Speaker 6 (26:34):
So, Jerry Andman night the Hotarchy breakfast.

Speaker 5 (26:38):
So you would have seen the world's first ever space
Minister Judith Collins is receiving a mixed report Cartters she
leaves Parliament after two and a half years in the roll.
She took on the portfolio and it was created in
twenty twenty three, overseeing space industry that is worth in
this country more than two point five billion to the economy.
New Zealander is the world's third largest launcher of orbital rockets,

(26:59):
behind the US in China. Colinsider talking twenty to twenty
four to double the size in New Zealand space and
advanced aviation sectors by twenty thirty.

Speaker 1 (27:07):
I had no idea, I no idea. We did a few,
but I didn't know we were the third in the world.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
Now we're ahead of Russia. We've got a bronze.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Per capita, yeah, yeah, per capita, per capita, we're off
the charts. China's in there, mate.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
Yeah, exactly, Oh, per capita. In other words, it's like
at the Olympics per capita. You know, we're at one end.
At the other end is India. Yeah, who won like
a javelin bronze And that's.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
Like a weightlifting one in the sixties.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
It's one person per eight one middle per eight hundred
million people. So yeah, I had no idea. I didn't
know that we were launched that many rockets. I did
not know that we had a space minister until she left.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
Well, what's also surprising is she's the only one in
the world. Surely these other countries have someone with the
jurisdiction over space. Didn't they have?

Speaker 5 (27:53):
Didn't America set up a space force or something without
a wage war on space? So Ice they found out
about space, they tried to way war on it.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
I think the president is still currently trying to start
as space force.

Speaker 5 (28:04):
Okay, great, I got us so good though, if since
we are number three bronze in the world in space,
who should be the first kiwi that we should to
the moon?

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Yeah? Like, and this should be an honor. This isn't like,
this isn't something we're trying to get rid of No,
so this actually has come up before. So this rocket Lab,
which is you know, based in Gisbone, well in Auckland,
but they do their launching. They're launching out in East Cape.
Why is that just in case something goes wrong? Yeah,
I don't think we care if it crashes into Gisban.

(28:37):
Sorry because that's not my call, of course. But yeah, exactly.
Now there's there's enough. There's another outfit in christ Church
and I discovered that. And when I was working for
seven Sharp, I did a story down there about about
them and what they do. And they fix you know,
the satellites in space using remotes and things like that.
It's pretty exciting. Yeah, and so I didn't.

Speaker 8 (28:57):
Know we did all.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
I didn't know we're such a hub of you mat
yeah space. And so I actually went out on the
streets of christ Church and asked who should be the
first news Zalander on the moone? And no word of lie.
The first eight people, said Richie.

Speaker 5 (29:12):
Mccally and did the night, say Dan Carter. That's the
most Christiers think of all time. I mean to be honest.
When you said that, who should be the first Kiwi
that we put on the moon? I am a Cantabrian. Yeah,
well that was the first thing that came to my
mind as well.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
I mean, if we were to meet aliens, he'd be
the person we should send exactly. And Tammy from Brisco's.

Speaker 5 (29:34):
One hundred per get touched three four eight three.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
We can give us a call.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
Oh eight hundred hardak, it is what we're doing this morning.
First ki week on the moon. Richards text her on
three four eight three cent thingy he needs to go
home the moon?

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Is he?

Speaker 3 (29:47):
Jerry and Mini the Hodarchy breakfast.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
So we just found out.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
That the the dearly beloved Space Minister, Judith Collins is
as I was.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
She's gone. Now.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
What I didn't know was that she was the space Minister,
that we even had a space Minister, And upon further examination,
turns out with third in the world, nobody, almost nobody
sends up more rockets than us.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
I feel like space Minister is a portfolio they give
you when you've had to go with all the other ones. Yeah,
what do we do with what do you do with?
Hurley sort of? Yeah, give them the space portfolio. We
don't have it. Just give them the space portfolio. Yeah,
it's the it's the fielding at Final League of Portfolio.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
Final League finally for an a tire afternoon. They've got
us thinking, this is something that Hurley has done before
down in christ Church. Who should be the first New
Zealander on the moon.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
It was Richie McCaw sort of unanimously eight consecutive times.
What are we what are we.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Looking for when we're putting a key on the moon?

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Do you reckon? Well, you want someone who's diplomatic, you know,
someone who's a good orator, so that they can spout
a pre written line. Yes. Probably, they've got to be
physically fit. It's all astronauts do.

Speaker 5 (30:55):
Yes, because they're going to stand up with the riggers
of space. Okay, that knocks a few people out because,
for example, someone text through and said Winston Peters because you.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Can't kill that fella. Well, that's true.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
He'd be able to stand up to the riggers of
space without the suit.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
Can you get Marlboro lights pumped in or Dunny Blues
or whatever he smoke's pumped into your space suit? You'd
have to think.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
So it's all connected by a hose, just among one
of those things in like a bong. Yeah, I think though,
also we probably.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Need a good looking sucker to go up there.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
Yeah, just for the photos, because I think as much
as it is, you know, a scientific exploration, it's also
about the pr when you get back, isn't It's about
doing the speeches. It's about doing the doing the rounds
and representing our country pretty well.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
So who do you reckon we should be sending to
the moon first? Ki Wei on the Moon three four
eight three Jeremy Wells was one suggestion, not for him
to stay there or anything, yeah, but to report back.
For Hodaki and seven sharp, I think it's you know,
he's across New Zealand media. Yes.

Speaker 5 (31:54):
And this person also said, and if he meets an alien,
he'll fit in with a new hairstyle.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Much more line than you years.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
He's going through a change Amber six through Ruby Tewey
or Hill's Bears. Oh not bad, yeah, yeah good through
for Hoidy j that one I love. I think we
should send John from Gore. He needs to get out
and about more often.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
I mean a good orator, an orator of note, passionate, passionate. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:19):
I have to assume he's in good physical condition to
hit up there.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
I mean, just to withstand the rigors. Of Gore.

Speaker 5 (32:26):
Yeah, yeah, he would have to think so. Yeah, and
he's going to tell it to you how it is.
If there are aliens, John from Gore will tell us.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
Six sexty up there. They could do a kind of
a Moon concert situation. Yep. There was talk of years
ago Pink Floyd doing that. Wasn't there on the Yeah
on the light side though, Ah, well they couldn't. I
don't think you can go the other side, can you.

Speaker 5 (32:46):
There's a lot of texts coming through on three for
eight three for people to send up there and leave
them there.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
Yeah, there is that does seem to be a misinterpretation of.

Speaker 7 (32:55):
And that's not what we were on, right. We want
them to be celebrated. We want them to go and
come back.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Yeah. Someone suggested Sir Edmund Hillary, who passed away some
ten years ago, but again, if he.

Speaker 5 (33:06):
Could knock their bastart off to King Ritchie or Susan
Paul on three four eight three, a luminous spheres out,
another one to the bucket, send the Late Night Big
Breakfast crew to bring back Moon TV.

Speaker 1 (33:18):
Oh let's see what they've done.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
Then, someone else has said Winston Peters as New Zealand's
Yoda sex xty send thingy something about fighting the justice system.
All right, keep picks coming through three four eight three.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
It was the first New Zealander on the moon. If
it was up to you, one giant leave for a fellow.

Speaker 6 (33:41):
Small step for some bro Jerry and midnight the hold
I key breakfast this morning.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
We're looking for the first Kiwi on the moon.

Speaker 5 (33:48):
If we could shoot someone up to the Mune who
would be to represent us and potentially introduce themselves to
the aliens. We're not looking for someone that we're just
shooting off into space. No, we're not ajecting them like
space flotsam.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
No.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
I mean potentially it might be part of a wider
kind of international crew. You know, they might be a
representative from Australia and yeah other nations as well.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
Yeah that's right, So we want them to to represent us. Well,
someone sticks through on three four ah three the first
Japanese man in space, toy Or hit or Aki Yama,
and the lead up to going to space for slamming
three packs of SIG's a day, So when he could
push through for the nation and bump it up the
four surely and I mind that? What about this rude
clone pass the bug guy well qualified for meeting all

(34:31):
things strange and weird. Great an orator of note as well.
And on that note, send the Nick minute guy into space.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
A lot of calls for the Nick minute. A lot
of calls for the Nick minute.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
Yeah, I was skating down the road, mapped off my
board into a rocket Nick minute. Another one hears strong
vocation for the Nick Minute guy. Great orator of our time,
Carlo barn I've seen him in space before, working in
the medical industry. And this one here, Dan Corbett. He
can even say one small step for Dan, one giant
leap for Dan. Kind of course, here is a well

(35:02):
an orator of note.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
And watch that snow as well.

Speaker 5 (35:05):
Going into early Thursday, cold or undercut undercut to pop
the snow level down to six hundred meters.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Jury in the night the hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
So it was announced last week that David Yuk is
taking on Floyd Musson and then the ib of Cruiserweight
World title eliminator. It's an event find a Stadium in Auckland, Saturday,
August eighth. Tickets have gone on sale this morning. The
event is presented by Stonewood Homes and joining us now
and on the undercard former warrior legend money. Butifie joins us,
good morning money.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
How morning money? Oh good, thank you.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
So we don't have an official dance partner for you yet,
there's nothing out there. Is it hard preparing for a
scrap when you don't know who it's going to be with?

Speaker 3 (35:47):
Um?

Speaker 4 (35:48):
No, not really.

Speaker 12 (35:49):
I think training just goes as normal. Yeah, you know,
you've just got to prepare as well as you can
and make sure that you're ready for anything that comes through.

Speaker 1 (35:58):
Is it? Sorry? Man? Do you not to put someone's face,
like a picture of them on the on the bag
when you're when you're training And I'll put my own
face on self punishment? Give yourself?

Speaker 5 (36:09):
He is any what what kind of person are you
looking for? Is it going to be another n r
L player perhaps? Is there anyone out there that you've
got your eyes on?

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yeah, anyone?

Speaker 12 (36:20):
To be honest, I think, you know, I just want
to be I just want to go out there and
make sure I'll put on a good show and that's
all I could do, and you know, make sure that
everyone enjoys the fight and not fall asleep.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
Surely there's some old n R L pists that you
really wouldn't mind some revenge on. You know that from
from your playing days.

Speaker 12 (36:40):
I don't have any beef any n r L player
or anyone, but you know that's It's one of those
things when once you get on the field, you put
those friendships aside and you just play the game.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
And he wants Nelson now, yeah, big, Now Davie's in
the studio as well. David.

Speaker 5 (37:02):
I don't know what you've got to do with putting
this kind of thing together, but it must be hard
to try and find someone who wants to fight the beast.

Speaker 4 (37:10):
Yeah, well, you know we're fighting it hard to attract Nelson.
You know, we want to have it down and wanted
to worries from Nally from Wally, but now I think
this team are too scared the wind might blow him over.
So really, so you know, look for man who I'm
his new manager. They call me don Bean, and you
know this is a fight. This this new boxing careers

(37:31):
is also about a purpose of showing people what happens
when you get knocked down. You just got to keep
getting up. So it's a bigger purpose to this journey,
and we want to make as much money as possible
to make as much noise as possible for Manu and
get it at boxing with everything intact.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
Yeah, now money, like you were not much of a
brawler in the league, Like you didn't really fight much
on the field, did you know? So why boxing?

Speaker 12 (37:52):
I think I really remember one fight was against Matt
King and try Nations, but yeah, that was pretty much it.
I think, you know, I like, I like not to
fight if I don't have to, but if I have
to defend myself, I'll definitely for down.

Speaker 5 (38:09):
Have you been watching the boys this this year? This
team looks pretty good, the Warriors.

Speaker 1 (38:13):
Yeah, they're really good.

Speaker 12 (38:14):
I've been enjoying watching the boys, and you know what
Webster has done with the team and how they run
the system, there's yeah, it's awesome.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
What is it?

Speaker 5 (38:24):
Do you think, because you've played obviously a million games
for the Warriors, it seems like every time someone falls over,
someone else jumps up into that jersey and the team
just keeps ticking along. How do they what's different about
this year?

Speaker 1 (38:35):
Do you think?

Speaker 12 (38:35):
I think just just everything that Webster has put into
the team and and and making sure that I don't know,
everyone's job is simple, simple, You know what I mean,
and they just know what they have to do and
once they come in, they're easy.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
To So are you saying if we lose a wing,
you're available.

Speaker 12 (38:57):
I think I'm almost back in my playing way, So
if the Warriors need me, I'll happily put on the
jersey that's exclusive.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
Put that every state this week? Are you Queensland or
New South? How do you think they're going to go
this year?

Speaker 1 (39:15):
I don't know.

Speaker 12 (39:16):
I've really followed too much of the players, you know,
I've just been watching the wires. But it's good to
see a couple of boys and both teams.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
So, yeah, brilliant.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
All right, Well the scrap goes down event find a
stadium Auckland Saturday, August eighth. You can't be far away
from announcing an opponent. So we're all waiting with baby.

Speaker 1 (39:34):
Yeah. Well, actually there's a few. There's a few here
that volunteering. Yeah, so three four eight three. If you
want to fight money, just let us know you out.

Speaker 5 (39:44):
We'll give us all go well money, Thank you, Thank you,
Jerry and midnight the ht Achy Breakfast. Time now to play.
It's academic game where we ask you five questions. All
you need to do is get three corrects to win
a fifty old Bunnings voucher and get your school's name
eached into the vaunted It's academic roll of honor alongside

(40:04):
these esteemed establishments coming the CULTI.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
Culture just listening to that. I don't think how Ward
A High schools on there, which is nice. No, I
don't think it is.

Speaker 5 (40:20):
Maybe we should give you a shot at it at
some point this week, Hurley. We've also had to reintroduce
time pressure because there's been too many accusations and allegations
of Google It going on, so we've had to put
the shot clock back in there. We go to the
phones where we find Scott from Hamilton. It says here
you're an estimator. What school do you estimate?

Speaker 1 (40:40):
You went to? Fraser High?

Speaker 11 (40:43):
Hamilton, Fraser High School?

Speaker 5 (40:44):
Any famous alumni from Fraser High, Scott.

Speaker 11 (40:48):
Probably not. I'd say I'd get a Clark on the
board if I might get this.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Okay, well I can. I'm just having you'll be the
most famous alumni from Fraser if you win.

Speaker 11 (40:56):
This pretty much.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
Goodness me just.

Speaker 5 (40:59):
Francis Douglas the closest, no Fraser High, the only one.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
You are the only one.

Speaker 5 (41:03):
That's called in from Fraser High.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
Good.

Speaker 11 (41:05):
Oh my god, I'm nervous.

Speaker 5 (41:07):
Yeah, good good, good academic record it Frase High, Scott,
I think I got school?

Speaker 11 (41:13):
See now?

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Was about it? Oh? Okay? Was it a good sport?
Was it a good sporting school?

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (41:23):
No, not really no No. A lot of tradinges, I guess.

Speaker 5 (41:27):
Yeah, A lot going for it? All right, Scott, you
understand how this works. We've got five questions. Get through right,
fifty dollar bunnies about to come in your way.

Speaker 11 (41:35):
Yep, got it.

Speaker 1 (41:35):
Let's get into it. What New Zealand Warrior Player had
the nickname the Huntly Hurricane?

Speaker 3 (41:42):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (41:46):
What band had the nineteen ninety one hat Home to Sexy?

Speaker 4 (41:50):
Oh? No?

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Id is a popular Australian comedian and media personality. Is Rove?
Who we're looking for? The surname? There? Rowe? What is
the capital of Perum? Correct? Who provided the voice of
Donkey and the Shrek movies?

Speaker 11 (42:12):
D Murphy?

Speaker 1 (42:13):
Correct? Let's go back. What New Zealand Warrior Player had
the nickname the Huntley Hurricane? We go back around.

Speaker 11 (42:23):
I knew someone who knew lance that. I'm I'm glad
I passed here.

Speaker 5 (42:27):
Yeah, and then it came back around to that, right,
said Fred ahead, I'm two sixty and rows. Last name
was mcmahonus cheez true, I got it anyway, you little beauty.

Speaker 1 (42:36):
How was the heart rate going through that?

Speaker 9 (42:38):
Oh my god, I'm yeah, yeah, great, fifty dollars is
just going to go so sopark, Can.

Speaker 1 (42:45):
You can put quarter of a taker picture on? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (42:47):
That's right, great works got another chance to win a
fifty dollars out.

Speaker 1 (42:50):
Of toor I might even give you a run at it. Early,
do you have a crack?

Speaker 5 (42:52):
Yeah, get your high school interest into the much vaunted its.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
Academic role of honor. It's about time.

Speaker 6 (42:57):
It is about time Jerriann the hold ikey breakfast while
Dewey's away.

Speaker 5 (43:05):
Ben Hurley joins us this week.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
Good morning, Early, Hello mate, Hello everyone, Hello all.

Speaker 5 (43:11):
We're just discussing off here how many times you said
I love you to various different partners. Of course, Early
has just been introduced to the fact that rud has
got fifteen on the list on his iPhone current wife
number fourteen.

Speaker 1 (43:23):
I believe they're called the first fifteen. You're an emotional guy.
You're because you're a musician. You see, you were your
herd on your sleeve.

Speaker 10 (43:31):
That's y hard and I fell fast.

Speaker 5 (43:33):
Yeah, and you call my fault frequently.

Speaker 1 (43:36):
Three horrible mentions as well. You've almost got a bench. Yeah.
Is that because of your sort of religious background and
your head to before you engaged in anything.

Speaker 10 (43:46):
Why don't we say that I reckon?

Speaker 1 (43:47):
I'm going to say that I feel good about it.

Speaker 5 (43:49):
Let's put it on that mass of our radio coming
up despite the fact that Gelane joins us before nine o'clock.
I'm going to describe my perfect day. But we are
working on Nick Becker. He's just showed up here with
the trophy, the hemorrhoid cushion that you get for winning
the A League, brought it back to New Zealand. On enough,
we are now the of aukand FC is now the
most hated team in Australian soccer, maybe even in Australia.

Speaker 1 (44:12):
We are basically the Melbourne Storm of football.

Speaker 5 (44:15):
What does it mean now for the Warriors as well?
Does that mean that we're going to take that bring
that one home?

Speaker 1 (44:20):
So the Breakers have won it, yes, right, and now
work left c have won it? Yes, and yeah it's
only the Warriors left. Really what I'm hearing?

Speaker 10 (44:29):
What about the Phoenix. Guys. I think you've forgotten about
the Phoenix.

Speaker 1 (44:32):
Yeah, but I mean like one of our teams have
has won it and you know they will eventually, right. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (44:40):
Look, hey, commiserations for the Wellington Phoenix. This must have
been an excruciating month ago through It's only getting worse
for you. But if it makes you feel any better,
Hurley was in Wellington recently and he has got some
really nice things to say.

Speaker 1 (44:51):
We've got a hot take we're going to talk about
this this hour as well is Wellington was going off.

Speaker 5 (44:56):
Okay, So some positive news for Wellington Phoenix fans.

Speaker 3 (45:00):
Jerry and Mania the hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (45:03):
We was talking before about aucklandiff C lifting the trophy
in the A League for the first time, first time
a New Zealand team has won, and condolences to the
Wellington Phoenix fans have suffered for so long just to
watch Auckland f C come in and within two years
when the premiership and then lift the trophy.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
It's heartbreaking, but it's not all bad news.

Speaker 5 (45:21):
You've got some nice things to say about Wellington.

Speaker 1 (45:23):
Yeah, I want to talk about vibes. Can we get
like a I'm going to spring this on. You can
we get like a vibey bed like this, Yeah, a
bit more, bit more upbeat. Perfect, perfect, That was really
quite great. Route. Two words tried to come out at

(45:46):
once and it came out as that was a quick route.

Speaker 5 (45:48):
Sorry, kids in the cars, it's what's at the bottom
of a plant?

Speaker 1 (45:55):
Manya on a seat. Now, I want to talk about vibes.
I've been around the country a lot lately and the
sort of general vibe about Saturday night hospitality is that
it's dying. Yeah. Right, the kids aren't drinking anymore, so
we're hearing people aren't going out anymore. Everyone's struggling. But

(46:17):
I've had a night out in Wellington in fact two
on the weekend really and the weekend before in Dunedin,
and these places are going off in the weekend. Is
that right?

Speaker 5 (46:28):
Okay, Well this is great because I I was in
Wellington last year. Now, this would have been a nothing weekend.
I don't think the Hurricanes were playing, There wasn't much
going on except for the cricket was on the next
day and we couldn't find a bar to go to.
We finished up the live show we did at like
ten pm. Everywhere we went they said they were all
shutting down.

Speaker 1 (46:46):
Well, I don't know what's happening. And you know, we
keep hearing the economy's teaming, and the kids aren't. Their
kids are staying home. They're on the they're on the
devices at hometop, they're on there, on the they're on
the tech talks. They're just just on Tinder. So they
just order their you know, their delivery, their delivery to
that adding out anymore. They're not eating out. Yeah, but look,

(47:11):
this is purely anecdotal. I think there's still great nights
to be had in New Zealand cities. Now. I grew
up in a town called Harder of eight to ten
thousand people, sorry, and we had a Saturday night there.
We went between there was the dom, the Dominion, right
and one in every town. Yeah, there's a dom, and

(47:33):
then there was some sort of nightclub. It was the
something Street nightclub, I can't remember. And it was basically
just a pilgrimage between the two. One would fill up,
and then everyone would go to the other one to
have a look and then go back because that one sucked,
and then that would start to suck, and then all
go back there. And one of them had a slightly
later license and basically the road in between just smelled
of urine. Yes, yeah, oh, that was.

Speaker 5 (47:55):
The same even in Wyomany, which is a town. I
think the district had about three thousand people, but we
had about four pubs, so on a Saturday night you
were just yeah, pilgrimage from one of the other. There
was rumors that one of them had a light up
dance floor a generation prior to me. And then and
then even going up coming through into tomorrow, there were

(48:15):
like six nightclubs. I don't know how Timoru could sustain
six nightclubs, but they could.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
I think you'd struggle to find a nightclub in seminary now.

Speaker 5 (48:22):
Just about anywhere in the country, it seems, although that
could be my.

Speaker 1 (48:25):
Age also too. But look, the main cities are still good.
New Plymouth still there's a couple of night spots on
a Friday Saturday night.

Speaker 5 (48:35):
So you're saying, we're are we back or did it
just never go away? Do you think is it over reported?

Speaker 1 (48:40):
I think maybe it's over reported. I think the doom
the doom sayers have you know, given the head now
to New Zealand hospitality prematurely?

Speaker 5 (48:49):
Yeah, Okay, well because I think we could all agree
christ Church at the moment as absolutely, and that's every
weekend you can have a real.

Speaker 1 (48:56):
Dozy of a night probably. Yeah, the most vibey city
in the country.

Speaker 5 (48:59):
Right and it's only taking them sixteen years to do it,
which is that's the miraculous.

Speaker 1 (49:04):
Part of it. Okay, So are we back?

Speaker 5 (49:05):
Give it takes three four eight three best place in
New Zealand to have a night out.

Speaker 1 (49:10):
Yeah. From John, you'll see what's technic down there. What's
going on down and Gore these days?

Speaker 5 (49:19):
Jerry MD I the Hodarchy Breakfast, been Hurley joining me
this morning and Hooley you were saying that you've been
around the country and it seems like we're back.

Speaker 1 (49:27):
I think we're back. Yeah, I think we're back. I
think people are going out again. People are spending possibly
too much money on a beer on a Saturday night out,
supporting local correct you know, making bad decisions. Its very
important part of particularly being in your twenties. I think so.

Speaker 3 (49:43):
So.

Speaker 5 (49:44):
I think a worrying part of it and why I
think it's sort of died down a little bit is
Jeremy Wells and meet Jeremy Osport. I have he and
I went to a nightclub recently. This was over in
Australia and we're over there for the wellness retreat.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
I will say.

Speaker 5 (50:01):
When we queued up, the lady at the door addressed
him as sir, charged him a five dollar cover charge. Oh,
I didn't see her charge anyone else a five dollars
cover charge.

Speaker 1 (50:11):
So trying to put him off because he was an
old man coming into the Yeah, I mean, they do
ever smell the old people, don't they.

Speaker 5 (50:19):
Yeah, it's also just his gait, he walks so stiffly
that she's so Anyway, we went in there and the
dance floor at this nightclub was packed and nobody was dancing.
And my theory is because I've seen this at a
couple of weddings where the younger generation they are on
the dance floor with their phone the entire time. And

(50:40):
I think, as we all know, you wake up once
and see a video of yourself dancing and you're.

Speaker 1 (50:44):
Like, you're never again, never again.

Speaker 5 (50:45):
It's that in karaoke there should be a safe space
for if you were singing or dancing, you should not
be allowed to film people. And so I think that
there's a whole generation out there that are just terrified
of waking up and seeing themselves on social media. So
I reckon that's probably what's probably contributing a bit to it.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
But I tell you what gave me hope. Though. You
can tell that there's still you know, bedlam going on
in a town on a Friday Saturday night when you
see the van of Christians handing out free water and toasties.
Oh really yeah, so that was in Wellington on Saturday
night as well. Oh, get on them. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (51:18):
The one nightclub in Omoru when I was growing up,
their big draw card was you've got a free toasty
on entry. So it was a five dollars cover charge.
But for that five dollars you get a ham and
cheese toasting. Pretty reasonable.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
I mean, it's been a long road back because basically
there was laws that came in under the John Key
government that stopped binge drinking. Oh didn't yeah, so there
was well it didn't. No, it just forced it into
the home basically, so you couldn't you couldn't go. There
was there was a place in years ago that did

(51:49):
I think it was ten cent beer's cups of beer
ten cent cups of beer, wow, and you paid a
cover charge to get in to get there. It's just
two dollars. Yeah, but yeah, knocked down on the heat.

Speaker 5 (52:01):
So yeah, I seem to remember at university dollar handles
as well and things like that.

Speaker 1 (52:05):
Yeah, nineties pricing.

Speaker 5 (52:07):
A couple of ticks are on three four three morning. Boys,
you're surprised people don't go out these days. Are pint
of decent beers fifteen dollars. There's thirty dollars a liter
at the bar Peach streets about gas at three dollars.
Alter New Gellon's going backwards. No government can fix the economy.
We're a small, unproductive nation at the bottom of the world.
The wise and sales houses and one another and that's
one from Aaron. Still, if all going on here and gore,
unless you have a falcon or a badly lifted highlux,

(52:29):
then you'll be prowling the streets getting pulled over at
least three to four times a night. Just go to
some shitty garage, and most people that are related to
each other, so you'll bump into a couzy or maybe
someone who's shared five people.

Speaker 1 (52:39):
You know, Okay, we'll get back to that. He's it
Texas City. Nelson is banging and that was last week
in both Friday and Saturday Night. I've also been in
Nelson a few weeks ago, was banging Saturday Night, you
were or it was.

Speaker 6 (52:55):
Done after that, Jerry in the night, the breakfast Berg
weekend and sport.

Speaker 5 (53:01):
It didn't get any bigger than Saturday night and the
AFC's A League Championship final when this happened, Alison.

Speaker 1 (53:14):
Alison, who has never school.

Speaker 13 (53:19):
She's lead in the.

Speaker 1 (53:22):
Grand title just moments ago.

Speaker 5 (53:25):
I was distracted when CEO Nick Becker brought the trophy
that looks.

Speaker 1 (53:29):
Like a hemorrhoid Christian.

Speaker 5 (53:30):
I've gotta be honest, all outside of the studio morning,
have you slipped since Saturday?

Speaker 1 (53:36):
I have?

Speaker 13 (53:37):
I have And I'm also bringing in, of course Danny Hay,
our assistant coach well who was carrying that the the.

Speaker 10 (53:42):
I can't say him real question on here.

Speaker 1 (53:46):
No, We've had an amazing weekend. It was a Saturday night.

Speaker 13 (53:48):
Was this epicon and the the atmosphere and the stadium
on at go Meetia was just incredible. I've never had
a like a just sort of home crowd behind the
team so much enjoying what was so good. What Danny
and I have said to be one of the worst
games in football we've ever seen, but we got the
result right and cam House has scored an amazing goal

(54:09):
and we won one and win now the championship.

Speaker 1 (54:11):
It was a scrappy old goal too, but you take.

Speaker 14 (54:14):
A game of football, but nobody's going to remember that,
and I can't even remember it now.

Speaker 1 (54:19):
I mean, how many World Cup finals are classic games
of football? You know what?

Speaker 14 (54:24):
It was a classic final, way to put it, just tense,
both teams not wanting to lose, but thankfully we took
our chance.

Speaker 5 (54:32):
No pictures on a scorecard, but that goal by cam
House and everyone's been talking about the story. It's an
incredible story, isn't that he spend bit of time out
of the but the top flight game to stay here
with his family in Auckland, meant to be called on
to score the winning goal. I mean you couldn't script it.

Speaker 13 (54:48):
His only goal for the club as well, his first
of a goal and and that's the thing Cam is,
as you said, he's an incredible human and a lovely,
lovely guy, and I think he's when we started the
club and for everyone that we brought through, you know,
Danny Steve, the whole the players.

Speaker 10 (55:04):
We looked at good people.

Speaker 13 (55:05):
Yeah, you know, they either had to be able to
play football, of course, but actually kind of build a club,
create a culture, you start with who the people are.
And I think, you know, Cam just is a is
a real sort of champion event.

Speaker 1 (55:18):
And he's well he's black Marte number one, isn't he
first signing? He was differently up in the first few. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
pretty much. Yeah, Yeah, it's incredible.

Speaker 5 (55:26):
Talk us through the parade yesterday. I saw the videos,
a lot of sunglasses on, a lot of celebration going on.

Speaker 1 (55:34):
What was that like? That must have felt amazing, it was.

Speaker 13 (55:37):
It was a kind of like we we obviously quite
boldly wrapped a bus and then decided to tell people
that parade at about eleven o'clock at night.

Speaker 1 (55:45):
So what did you do with the bus? Because if.

Speaker 13 (55:48):
We would have, we would have burned it down. No,
we we So we were actually wanting is anyone going
to come? But of course we've got an amazing family
fan base as well, and a lot of those people
didn't get to come with whether they didn't have tickets
or the kids.

Speaker 1 (56:01):
Are too young.

Speaker 13 (56:02):
So as we drive down Queen Street, we just started
to gather momentum and fans behind us, and we got
down to Britamar and there's thousands of people there as
factors and the boys thankfully a no one fell off
the top of the us, which was a concern at
some point. And be clearly, you know, some of them
hadn't necessarily had much sleep, but they absolutely loved it
and it's just a chance to celebrate with Auckland and

(56:23):
celebrate with our fans.

Speaker 5 (56:24):
The celebrations have been absolutely excellent to watch across across
social media.

Speaker 1 (56:29):
Now. A few years ago there was a few problems
with the ran Fairley Shield. They found some residue on it.
Should we test this?

Speaker 14 (56:37):
Yeah, you can just tell.

Speaker 1 (56:39):
It's quite shiny.

Speaker 13 (56:42):
You're only going to find a bit of stale bear and.

Speaker 1 (56:46):
Sweat from the blood bloods.

Speaker 5 (56:50):
Yeah, yeah, yeah you Does all of Australian football hate us?

Speaker 13 (56:55):
Now?

Speaker 1 (56:55):
Well?

Speaker 5 (56:56):
Are they gonna be human that we've as Aukland have
seen now the the villains of.

Speaker 1 (57:00):
The A League? Are we the Melbourne Storm of the
A League? Yeah?

Speaker 13 (57:04):
Well, I mean they've been pretty successful, so I'd tell
any day of the week, but the A League needed
Auckland FC, you know, and I don't say that in
an arrogant way. They needed something fresh, they needed something
new to come into it. And we've set this club up.
We've won the premiership in year one, we've now won
the championship in year two. But not just that, we've
got a whole city behind us now and Auckland has
been awesome in terms of supporting us, coming to our games,

(57:26):
buying our shirt, wearing the shirt with pride. And we
said right at the start we wanted to create a
club that the city was proud of. And I think
we're doing we're starting to do that right.

Speaker 1 (57:35):
Yeah. I mean, I don't want to put pressure on,
but one word dynasty.

Speaker 14 (57:39):
Yeah, well, two trophies in two years. We just got
to keep the roll going.

Speaker 5 (57:43):
Now, we'll let you get back to it, keep the
party going. Congratulations, guys, Get on your fellows.

Speaker 3 (57:49):
Jerry and Midnight the hote I keep Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (57:52):
The idea of a perfect daily schedule is less to
do with doing more and more to do with timing
tasks of the body's and natural rhythms. According to artificial intelligence,
early this thing's been doing the rounds on social media.
It's come across my disc and apparently, look I don't
know that as designed basically the perfect day and how
you should lay it out, and I read through it,
and I'll read it for you. Now, can you tell

(58:14):
me if this sounds like a good day to you
or not. Six am, wake up with the light already out. Yeah,
we already off to a bad start. Seven to fifteen.
Eat a high protein breakfast. Start, start your most demanding
work at eight take a short breakoutside at ten thirty
eat lunch away from your disc at one three point
thirty pm schedule collaborative work. Six pm wind down, walk

(58:37):
slash exercise, seven pm dinner, nine pm dim the lights,
turn the screens off, and ten pm go to sleep.
Now that that does not sound like the perfect day
to me. For starters, you woke up way to early
six am and then you went to work. Now that's
not the perfect day. Having to wake up and go
to work is an absolute disaster.

Speaker 1 (58:56):
That's there. There's a recipe for depression.

Speaker 5 (58:58):
Hit one hundred percent. So I thought I can fix this.
I can write a bit a better perfect day. So
stay with me here. This is my perfect day. Seven am.
Wake up with the stonking hangover from the night before.
Excellent check phone work's been been for the day.

Speaker 1 (59:14):
Back to sleep. Oh oh my gosh, I mean just
that's it. That's all, that's all I need.

Speaker 5 (59:21):
Better start straight off the rip. Work's been been for
whatever reason, rain, whatever. You don't have to go to work,
straight back to sleep. Twelve pm, so nothing for the
whole morning. Nothing's twelve pm. KFC is open, Zinger box,
miil burger, work at wings, potato and gravy, chips, coke zero.
Because you're trying to watch your figure excellent between one
and seven. I've blocked out a large portion of the

(59:42):
afternoon to get through a bunch of different stuff in
any particular order. This is more like a menu, pick
and choose whatever you want to do off this. Things
include dunker basketball, hit a hole in one, bowler, hat tricks,
loot of droppy, kick a forty twenty to a backflip,
throw a nine data back a trailer, parallel park, get
named for state of origin, do a kickflip, do a
yard he score a screamer, give you missus the fleck,

(01:00:03):
share of sheep, join a gang, when a meat raffle
to a burnout Sydney s when you use a bow
and arrow to hit a bull's eye and then split
your own arrow with your next arrow. Get back with
the message. Get banned from a casino for county cards.
Stick a pig, land a plane, don't land the plane.
Be the first person on your street to put your
bins out. Catch a million lowball someone on marketplace. Hit
the stumps from side on, grow a beard, catch a
KINGI sidestep Stacy Jones, lo move oh oh, ripstart a chainsaw,

(01:00:24):
smoker Sigi, kickstart a motorbike, ride a ball, and use
the time machine to stop the boundary. Count back and
then at seven pm, wind down, dinner and bit. Doesn't
that sound like a much better day to you?

Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
I mean, that is perfection. Isn't that? They don't get
any better than that?

Speaker 3 (01:00:39):
Jerry and Lenia for the hold Ikey Breakfast.

Speaker 13 (01:00:42):
Sports Chat with acc Head g Laine, brought to you
by Export Ultra the.

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Beer for here Gilane.

Speaker 5 (01:00:51):
We haven't talked to sid the rugby at all this
morning because the Crusaders beat the Chiefs and Joey Willer
refused to come on the show. But yeah, you're made
of sterner stuff. Despite the fact that that was it
was it was Game.

Speaker 1 (01:01:04):
Of the Year, wasn't it. Yeah, it was.

Speaker 9 (01:01:05):
Yeah, the Chief's Crusaders down there and tokaha, I said
that the Chiefs are going to go down there and
smear manner all up the walls and on the ceiling, and.

Speaker 8 (01:01:11):
They did to a degree.

Speaker 9 (01:01:13):
But the Crusaders came with their wet wipes and wiped
it down and said knock.

Speaker 8 (01:01:17):
And took it out and good on them.

Speaker 1 (01:01:18):
What happened.

Speaker 9 (01:01:19):
It was the game of the round. I mean, no,
Damien mackenzie for us, he's a key player for them,
for the Chiefs, but into Winds stuff, I mean it was.
It's the kind of thing that will rescue Super Rugby
if that happened every each and every week.

Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Yeah, but every single game.

Speaker 5 (01:01:32):
Yeah yeah, yeah, the game of the round between the
Drawer and the Western weakness.

Speaker 9 (01:01:36):
But the highlight for the weekend is Reuben the Love
Muscle skucky right foot. I don't know if you saw
that try he scored where he did a goose step
fake goose step into a skucky right step.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
It was backyard footage.

Speaker 8 (01:01:48):
It was backyard footage stuff. It was pretty Bingie Marshall esque.

Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Actually then did he swore it someone?

Speaker 9 (01:01:54):
Oh yeah, so I'm kidding on kids. Round someone slapped
him in the face. He see his steps too, skuky
and he stepped one of the hinders who bitch slapped
him as he went past, and he basically unleashed a
tirade of.

Speaker 8 (01:02:08):
Sea words and f words at him, and the referee was.

Speaker 9 (01:02:11):
Like, Ruben Reuben, mate, it's kids around, okay, his kids watching,
what are you doing?

Speaker 5 (01:02:16):
This is the problem with the MIC's on the field
many microphones. Well, so there's one on the referees collar
these days, and back in the day we would when
we did Super Rugby commentary, we would get the live
feed from the ground, so it would just be the
ground microphones and the one on the referees collar. James
Lynchy's for the Highlanders snapped his leg in half and

(01:02:37):
the referee was right beside him and bent over, put
his hand on his chest like you okay mate, and
he let out this blood curdling scream straight into the mic.

Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Basically only we could hit.

Speaker 5 (01:02:48):
It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my
life to have a microphone put about thus far away
from his mouth.

Speaker 8 (01:02:54):
But it was angers garden of the referee.

Speaker 9 (01:02:56):
He's obviously gone through drills around telling off Super uggy
players around swearing. He does that over in Sydney in
a spare time. He goes, mate, kids are watching Maid's
kids around no swearing. Next week you can and jeff
all you like, because it's not kids around.

Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Yeah, I mean in Origin on Wednesday. I don't think
they'll be quite the same restriction no language.

Speaker 8 (01:03:13):
I don't think general NRL. There's no restriction on language here.

Speaker 9 (01:03:17):
Big apology though for Friday Night, Tony Ly and I
mister Mark a little bit was kids around me. Didn't
realize that until we got told that there was a
Jeffrey Epstein file theme on the show which got a
little bit mess here. So at halftime we tried to
cleanse by changing it to a Disney thing, right, and
some of the first comic was just Walt Disney, which
covered both I think, oh well, I mean the teams. Yeah,

(01:03:44):
right there we go on Pacific poor Mowana Pacifica leading
by five points with two minutes left, their last home
game in Albany. And what do the Australians do.

Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
They spoil their party. They always do.

Speaker 8 (01:03:56):
It's going to try in the last minute, converted it
one it now.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
I was in Wellington on Saturday. And we've been talking
this morning about how Wellington was going off in the
weekend and I think probably the rugby had something to
do there as well.

Speaker 9 (01:04:07):
Do you think because it was the crowd still wasn't great?
It was right, it was okay, but you still got
a team that's leading the leading the competition. They have
to do the best team by a long way. It's
their competition to lose. Yet are people waiting for the final.
I'm not going to go to the Semis in the final.
I to bother myself with that.

Speaker 8 (01:04:25):
I mean, half of them haven't got jobs anymore, but
that doesn't really matter.

Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
And I even saw some Landers fans walking around the
town and their gear like flowing up. She says, I know,
stop it.

Speaker 5 (01:04:35):
So was that the Super Rugby Final? Chiefs First Crusaders, Lane,
I kneels like it doesn't. I've seen a screenshot of
another group chat where you were If and Jeff and
I'll enjoy the word.

Speaker 8 (01:04:44):
Yeah that was your final, Yeah, that was your final?

Speaker 9 (01:04:46):
Syon next Tuesday, I think I see it on the
group chat.

Speaker 8 (01:04:50):
Yeah, listen it. It feels like it should be the final.

Speaker 5 (01:04:53):
But the Hurricanes the Crusader's final will be the final.

Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (01:04:57):
The Hurricanes, Well, is it the year? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
I don't know. I don't if any team's going to
lose a final.

Speaker 8 (01:05:03):
I know semi final. You remember a few years ago
the Chiefs did this. The Hurricanes, Yes, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
I just there's something about I don't know. Maybe it's
just the recent track record. Is just something about them
that I don't believe in.

Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
The Hurricanes.

Speaker 9 (01:05:17):
Well, look buckle up next Monday when I come in here,
because I am going to explain Super Rugby Final system
to you. Great with the lucky loser and the loser
who's luckier than the loser. Lucky, but sometimes you can lose,
you can still win, but if you win, you can
still not win.

Speaker 1 (01:05:33):
So clear the eight o'clock hour.

Speaker 5 (01:05:35):
Yeah, absolutely, and get the flow chart in here if
we can texture on three four eight three lane. The
World's Serve Tour finals has been put on hold because
the photographer got bitten by a seal.

Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
Have you heard that? Breaking news here on the darky breckond.

Speaker 9 (01:05:50):
But that this is the last day for the World's
Surf League in the ten day window.

Speaker 8 (01:05:54):
But this swells coming in so they'll get it done.
But how good does it look? How good does it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
Look at it?

Speaker 9 (01:06:00):
Egland the sunset, Like as they're finishing the heats, the
sun's going down, there's a drone shot. I mean whatever
tourist musicum paid for double it because that's going around
the world, going through Brazil America.

Speaker 8 (01:06:10):
Like it looks so mean.

Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
It does he apparently you know, the houses are full,
the bars are full with Ragland's the place to be.

Speaker 8 (01:06:16):
Shut it down, shut shut it down.

Speaker 1 (01:06:18):
Yeah, too much fun, too much fun. Thanks very much
for joining us. Gelane Ah, no worries given Moms.

Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
The Nick Becker out there then he is wasted.

Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
Yeah he is. He's carrying in a giant sea ring
as well. Yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
Jerry and Mania The Hdarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 2 (01:06:38):
Jerry and Mania catch the radio show from six till
ten weekdays, The Hdarchy Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
Being hourly standing again for Jerry and this month, Holy
is the Montese Wild Food Challenge.

Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
You're familiar with this What a time of the year.

Speaker 5 (01:06:52):
It's a great time of the year, sort of enduring
sort of promotion that is. Yes, that's right. It's the
final week this week because it is the final week
the month. Over sixty restaurants pubs and eateries taking part nationwide.
You can hit the Montete stock cot ont inn ZID
to see the full list of who's taking part. We've
had a wep around, we've checked the feel of them out.
Last week we went for a bit of a team
outing to the Flying More which is in Auckland, and

(01:07:15):
they had a tark abat.

Speaker 1 (01:07:17):
Oh tar being the sort of mountain goat. Yeah, yeah,
that's right.

Speaker 5 (01:07:21):
We had a couple of people with us at lunch
last week who were like, what is the tar and
I said, oh, it's like a mountain goat. It's a
bit misleading to call it a mountain goat because when
you show someone a picture of what a tar is,
that's not a mountain goat.

Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
That's it. We have these new zeena yes, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:07:36):
They were introduced from the I believe the Himalayas down
into the Lower South Island and they took to.

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
The Alps like wildfire. They love it.

Speaker 5 (01:07:46):
A while ago, Doc was trying to wipe them out,
but the hunters vetoed it because they wanted.

Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
To wipe them out. Yeah yeah, why not? It makes sense.
Then they get wiped out for free, that's right.

Speaker 5 (01:07:55):
I've always said that in this country we don't need
enough goat. We goat delicious ourselves on lamb mutton and
but for whatever reason we've decided we're out on goat.

Speaker 1 (01:08:07):
Yeah, curry gate mate, it's one of the best delightful.

Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
Well, can I recommend the goat kebabs out of flying
more so go and check those out. This week We've
also got one hundred dollars Monty's Wild Food Challenge Dining
voutch up for grabs every morning this month, and for
those of you that follow the Gregorian calendar, this morning
is the morning in this month if you're in if
you're in christ it hit too Coca Pelley, which is
in Shirley. Their feed is called the Buck Stops here

(01:08:31):
as a venison sausage, pizza, bacon, fresh basil sliced pear
mozzarelli on a napoli base, topped with blue cheese, aoldi
and maple candied warner.

Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
There's a lot of flavors there.

Speaker 5 (01:08:42):
There's a lot going on there. Hear that with the
hearty West Coast and hazy.

Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
I p a oh, that's going to have some flavor
to cut through.

Speaker 6 (01:08:49):
Hell yeah, a great winter warm with Jerry and Midnight
the hold Ikey Breakfast new.

Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
Music on Radio Hodak.

Speaker 5 (01:08:56):
It's the Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Herdie and the
Blowfashes and for you Monday Morning, Jerry away filming Task Master.
Over the weekend, we've been watching a lot of At
Home with the Furies.

Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
Do you watch that at all?

Speaker 4 (01:09:10):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (01:09:10):
Can I recommend it? Well, it's tremendous. He obviously seventeen
years undefeated to the Gypsy King. The two defeats that
he did suffer at the hands of Alexander Usik, who
fought on the weekend. I don't know if you saw this,
so it was a bit of a controversial one. They're
saying it was a bit of an early stoppage. He
beat up a man by the name of Rico Verhoven.

Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
Was a kickboxer.

Speaker 5 (01:09:33):
But the interesting part about this is where they had
the fight. So they they set the ring up in
front of the Great Pyramids of Geezer and they scrapped
in front of that. Now that so you know, Paul
Cole is our squash men. Yes, they've been doing this
with squash because obviously you can see the squash caught
up just about anywhere. So they were like, where's the
coolest place we could possibly put it. Let's put it

(01:09:55):
in front of the Pyramids. And now they're doing it
with boxing. I think it's a great idea because it's
not a a rugby field or you can't move it.
Now you can put the ring just about anywhere. Why
not put it in front of you know, the Eiffel
Tower or the Triumph or the Skytower. But maybe think
you've been around the country, indeed the world applying your
traders as a stand up comedian, you must have been

(01:10:17):
in some bizarre.

Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
Pat It's truly bizarre. Probably live in it would be
up there. So probably the weirdest one, you know, the
Redwood Forest and I've done stand up in that forest.

Speaker 5 (01:10:34):
How does stand up in a forest go?

Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Well, you see, you kind of need like acoustics, you know,
you need a room to hear the crowd and also
for the crowd to hear you. Yeah, it was okay.
It was like a private thing was they'd hired all
these you know, drama school students to dress up like
Narnia characters and for this company. And then yeah, and

(01:11:01):
then they bought me in. I was not dressed up
as anything other than me to do stand up in
the Redwood Forest.

Speaker 5 (01:11:07):
I've seen this. Sometimes they bring sometimes they really missed
the bark and bring stand up comedians into environments where
they shouldn't be. Oh totally, there'll be like a rock
band comedian into something else.

Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
Yeah. Well so I didn't take this gig. But when
I was first starting, I was living in Wellington, there
was a punk band. I can't be what they were called.
Maybe it was the Guitaris actually right Aaris.

Speaker 7 (01:11:29):
Yeah, they did a cover of Boys of Summer, Yeah,
Patty Big about twenty years ago.

Speaker 1 (01:11:32):
And they they were playing at the what's now Sand Frame,
which is like a great rock venue there, and we
used to do stand up there as well, and they said, oh,
we always have a comedian open for us. Would you
like to do it? I did a quick google and
I discovered that the last three they think it's funny
to go on stage while they're doing the set and

(01:11:52):
try and set them on fire.

Speaker 5 (01:11:54):
Oh so I turned down that gig, so I will
not be getting set on fire. It must also be
tough for you know, to go in front of a crowd.
Were there for a rock concert?

Speaker 1 (01:12:01):
It's a thing in America. It's not really a thing here,
but yeah, comedians opening for bands, it is a big
thing in America. I don't know, it really doesn't work.
I don't think. No, that's a you're in two completely
different mindset. Yeah, I was. I went to the Deaf
Tones last week. If a comedian and opened that gig,
they would have been killed. Yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah,
I see as well.

Speaker 7 (01:12:20):
UFC Freedom two fifty is going to be on the
lawn of the White House on during the fourteenth away.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
Yeah, that's right, and I think they're looking for an opener.
If you're free, then yea. The transition to ediocracy has
truly happened.

Speaker 3 (01:12:32):
Jury in the Night the hold Key Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (01:12:36):
Earlier on this morning Early, we found out that Judith
Collins is on her way out of Parliament at the moment.
She's just retired. She was the world's first space minister. Yeah,
she's receiving a mixed report cart. What the hell is
a report card for a space minister?

Speaker 1 (01:12:49):
Yeah? How do you mark that up? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:12:51):
B plus didn't find the aliens, but apparently it's worth
more than two point five billion dollars of the country's economy.
The industry. As we didn't know that we are. New
Zealander is the world's third largest launcher of orbital rockets?
Are we starting you and people from We don't do
New York's Do you reckon? We can start flower bombing

(01:13:12):
people from space.

Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Why are we disappointed about the Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:13:17):
I reckon anyway, So we started thinking about, well, earlier
done a story on seven sharp a while ago, if
we were to.

Speaker 1 (01:13:25):
Send a New Zealander to the moon, who would have
be You went down to christ Us proudly. Yeah, that's right,
you went down to christ said, and the first eight
people I approached on the street completely randomly said Richie
McCaw yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:13:37):
And then the Knight said Dank Arter yeah, and then
Jason Gunn yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:13:42):
Someone said, Richie Manger, if he was.

Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
Eligible happy efect that a full season in the NPC,
then we'd send him to the moon. We asked for
your texts on three four eight three. We couldn't quite
get through all of them, so we'll do it now.
Someone said, actually, let's go with Tina from Town.

Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Yeah, it'd be great energy. Yeah, you could sell them
the shuttle exactly.

Speaker 5 (01:14:05):
What about David Seymour and enough fuel for a one
way trip, alien life forms would not be interested in.
After he opens his mouth, this isn't what we're going
it's not what we're going for. We're not just shooting
people off into space.

Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
Stephen Adams, Yeah, he'd know how to put the safety
belt on. Is because of his cameo in the video.

Speaker 5 (01:14:23):
He apparently also is the New Zealand's tallest New Zealander.
He is closest to the moon as well most qualified.

Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
Sure that's true, But okay, you don't think he's the
tallest New Zealander. Do you think Steven Adams is the
tallest New Zealander.

Speaker 10 (01:14:37):
Tallest, best known New Zealand?

Speaker 5 (01:14:39):
Yeah, I feel like we've just found out seven Tomorrow Morning.
Has anyone taller than Stephen Adams and News?

Speaker 1 (01:14:46):
I'm sure right? Siven foot?

Speaker 5 (01:14:50):
It might be siven foot. Yeah, is anyone taller than sivin?

Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Must be somebody seven foot news in it. They just
don't necessarily play in the NBA.

Speaker 5 (01:14:56):
You'd be going class. I think of all human beings
ever been oversee and for have played in the NBA.

Speaker 1 (01:15:03):
Yeah, I don't know. Let's pencil that.

Speaker 5 (01:15:07):
And this is a great great observation here. What if
they speak malory on the moon. Can we do we
need to see in just in case they speak to
on the moon.

Speaker 1 (01:15:17):
It's a great point.

Speaker 5 (01:15:18):
It's true something I hadn't considered our You know, all of.

Speaker 1 (01:15:21):
Earth's broadcasts bounce off into space. Maybe they they are
now getting like nineteen eighty s playce call.

Speaker 5 (01:15:30):
That would be hilarious. If the Aliens touchdown and all
they spoke was to do.

Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
How powerful would we be? Yeah, we always think.

Speaker 5 (01:15:38):
That they're going to dop down and speak English, but no,
not necessarily another teake through Ruder.

Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
He never gets to do anything that is true.

Speaker 7 (01:15:45):
True, so true, that's true. We've talked about the NRAF final.
I went to Oasis last year in Melbourne, paid for
it myself.

Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
Do you know what Ruda would do? They'd go, are
we come in peace?

Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
Or so?

Speaker 1 (01:15:54):
I love you?

Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
Jerry and the hot I keep breaks.

Speaker 5 (01:16:02):
Like a back breakfast thanks to Bunny Stray getsp for
winter with a new window work from Bunny straight morning back.

Speaker 15 (01:16:07):
Good morning, How are you good?

Speaker 1 (01:16:09):
Thank you? How are you getting on?

Speaker 16 (01:16:11):
I'm all right, yeah, just moved into a new apartment
and sounds lush. Yeah, it's quite lush, except for the
herd of elephants at are tap dancing until three.

Speaker 1 (01:16:20):
Why did you decide to live under the zoo? Well,
I don't know.

Speaker 15 (01:16:23):
I thought, hey, try something different. Why not? Oh my god,
it's doing my head in. What do you do?

Speaker 5 (01:16:29):
Well, I don't know what you do. All I know
is I've been in the same situation where we lived
underneath a young couple who had I think two kids
under I think three or four, and every morning what
they would do and they had hardwood floors, of course,
they would take a bucket of bowling balls and just
tip it onto the floor first thing in the morning.

(01:16:51):
Then they decided to get a jump start on teaching
their kids tap dancing.

Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
Should hardwood floors be banned in multi level?

Speaker 16 (01:17:00):
This morning I was reading the Body Corp rules and
you have to have good flooring.

Speaker 15 (01:17:04):
You can't, yeah, right hard Like I was desperate.

Speaker 16 (01:17:07):
I sent an email to my property manager just be like,
I remember, what's the end?

Speaker 15 (01:17:11):
Has been five nights of this. My apartment before was perfect.
I loved it, and then they sold it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:17):
Were you doing the broom on the ceiling too short?

Speaker 15 (01:17:23):
I don't know how to be passive aggressive to.

Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
Do that, but yeah, that's where our mister heckels dies
and Friends.

Speaker 15 (01:17:29):
Oh that's right, Yeah, that's right.

Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
What happens the electric No, no, they I believe in
series one of Friends, they have a neighbor downstairs and
he bangs on the ceiling and then they stomped back
and the broom hits him in the head and he dies.

Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
Okay, we'll clear that. I don't know what you can do.
I feel like this is a this is my radio
brain cacking in. But this is a great promo for
a carpet company. They went through and they carpeted.

Speaker 8 (01:17:55):
Yeah, the Rhino car the Rhino.

Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
A carpet sponsor on the show is Kevin Milone.

Speaker 5 (01:18:01):
Still getting about can we get in touch with reach
out keV? Maybe if he could do anything. But yeah,
it's one of those ones. It's madning and we're too
passive aggressive as kiwis. Yeah, I think America and America
you go bang on the door and look give it down.

Speaker 16 (01:18:14):
Well, my first two nights I had a neighbor. My
neighbor on the other side has a gaming TV right
against my bedroom wall, and that was happening till ten
o'clock without headphone, So he was under constant like gun.
I think he's playing cool of duty, right, and it
was pretty intense, so I just knocked on the door
twice and then it stopped, so right, I confronted him,
but I'm not I don't know. I don't know who

(01:18:35):
I'm dealing with upstairs. No, so maybe it is a
family because it's constant.

Speaker 1 (01:18:41):
At ten in the morning, three in the morning. Yeah,
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:18:43):
You should buy them all slippers, soft bottomed slippers as
a gift, bed socks. I see you've getting McLaren shirt on.

Speaker 1 (01:18:51):
They are they doing the Motor Games this morning?

Speaker 16 (01:18:53):
Yeah, the Motor Games are happening. And but Lando's out
and not a spoiler alert for anyone, but George Russell
also out.

Speaker 15 (01:19:00):
It's been a great battle as like Star Wars.

Speaker 16 (01:19:02):
At the moment there was Antonelli and George Russell and
then Russell's car calmed out and then Russell had throw
as toys as he does, he's a little be arch
And yeah, Lando's out, his car failed.

Speaker 15 (01:19:13):
I think it's for Starpin and Commonelli in the leads.

Speaker 1 (01:19:17):
Always bloody, isn't it? What's coming up? When you show today?

Speaker 15 (01:19:19):
Be no idea.

Speaker 16 (01:19:20):
No, it's back to the Future nineteen ninety Back to
the Future three at the cinemas.

Speaker 15 (01:19:26):
And a certain band that like beards and leather.

Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
I've interviewed him, Billy Gibbons from zz Top.

Speaker 5 (01:19:35):
Yeah, I tell you what, he'd love the marketing for
a street dog giveaway at the moment.

Speaker 15 (01:19:38):
Oh yes, this was some interesting comments on the behind
the scene photos.

Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
As well, haven't there. I've received a few requests and
my dms as well. Any member of zz top without
a Beard's name is Frank Frank Beard. Frank Beard.

Speaker 6 (01:19:52):
The actually breakfast it'd set for winter with Bunny's trade
