Speaker 1 (00:01):
Is The Matt Thomas Show with Ross ten o one,
it ain't town.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Good morning, and welcome to a Monday initiative, The Matt
Thomas Show with Ross. This is Sports Talk seven out eight.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
His second home run of the season, and it is
eight nothing Rangers.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
You know, Rossie, you and I have I think both
agree that meat Loaf is overrated. Okay, who's rating meat Loaf?
Does he have his own wing in the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame? Is he in the Hall of Fame?

Speaker 4 (00:45):
I don't think so. But this is a really good song.
It's fine. It's a jam.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
It's for what it is, Jonathan. We always want to
go to the younger volks. Yes, this is my first
time here, and I kind of like you, yeah, kind
of a jam. I just thought he was like a gimmick,
like casing the Sunshine band gimmick. No, well, no, that was.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
More serious music. I guess right.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
I think meat Love is more serious than casing the
Sunshine can Again, it's terrible cross reference on my part.
It's fine, yeah, because his name is meat Loaf, so
I thought he was like, I didn't.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Know he's like a serious musician an actor. It's funny.
I wonder who gave him that name. It's I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
I mean, we could do a believe or not a
meat loaf, but I just feel like the rest of
his band the mashed Potatoes.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
I don't know what. It's a good call, all right?
Can we turn off the news? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Explosions and bombs, this is great. I told this to
Ross what eleven minutes ago? Would you tell me? I said,
the only reason why I ever come into this radio
station is for you.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Thank you. I'm glad you commute to work with the
rest of Houston. Let's go.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
I appreciate you. Matt. I want to say that you
caught in traffic. Going ahead, ten, go ahead, and let's
get it out of the way. Go ahead, it happened.
Start screaming, yelling, let's go. Just move it away. Don't
bottle it up. No, because nobody wants to hear it,
process and confront your anger.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Matthew. I just.

Speaker 2 (02:13):
God, I just hate I just hate it. And it's
it's it's got me by the the the testicles. Frankly,
I said, by the balls. But it's basically the same.
Oh the gonuts, Oh my gosh. Else, I was your
weekend weekend was spectacular. I worked on Friday. Well, went
to the game with Pops for his birthday on Saturday.

(02:35):
Shout out, Pops, you were there too. Huh, yeah, you
should come hang out with her. You were schmoozing in
the sweet Now they didn't let me in. Oh, I'm
sorry about that. They said specifically, there was a man
named Matt who said you cannot come in here. That's
not true at all. By the way, I want to
make sure I get this right off the top. So Saturday,
there was an Astros game, okay, and there was a

(02:57):
Dynamo game. Okay, that's gonna happen sometimes in an area,
and there is contrut Now, the Dynamo game still had
thirty minutes left in the game, because when we were
driving by Shell Energy Stadium, the time of the game
was on the big board. What was the score? Hell
of I know it was zero zero. It was tried
to set you up. Well, I think Ross, there's just

(03:18):
something that people assume in life when I miss a
zero zero game. So it was in the sixty fifth minute,
so people were still if you were at the game,
you you didn't leave in the sixty fifth minute. I'm
assuming correct, correct? All right, traffic again for the second time. Now,
one time I was leaving with the Rockets had ended
at the same time the Astros. So that's seventeen thousand,

(03:40):
the Astros game that we went to on Saturday, and
you were there to hit thirty thousand because they eper
deck was not largely empty, but it was quite a few.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
Empty seats up there. Yeah, so.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
I and I'm gonna go back to my original preface.
I love going to watch the games. I don't get
to go to a lot of nine inning games because
usually I work and then I will go back to
either the studio or the home studio to the postgame show.
We said the whole nine innings. Astros got four home
runs front of the show Kaiwai Tang with a big
five innings of work. Solid almost when you say quality

(04:14):
start light is what you're calling on. Yes, okay, and
the Astros one of the game was over in like
two hours and twenty minutes. It was like basically a
perfect night for baseball. H and then trying to leave
the stadium. And I don't know if that's the Astros responsibility,
if it's the cities, if it's a combination of both.
I understand traffic, I understand construction. Were you in B

(04:34):
or Sea loot or A or was it a lot? Okay,
I'll tell you exactly what happened. Were you on Chartress? Yes, A,
B and Sea lot all try to go out through Chartress,
but they're to get on I ten, that's all closed
off or fifty nine, right, Yeah, do you get to Yeah,
you can go to ten or fifty nine that way,
the fifty nine entrants that normally everyone I'm sorry, I

(04:54):
ten interests that everyone takes.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
It's completely closed off. That's what happened.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
It happened to me on Friday because I went to
the game and I was like, you, I leave the game.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
You know, it was a freaking no hitter.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
But I had to leave to go home because I
don't want to do the post game in the middle
of fireworks that I ten entrance is closed. So it's
normally really bad traffic, it's it's ten times worse right
now because of the closures. It's it's ten times worse.
And so what's happening is is that people are now
just not following streets. Sign there's no well, I would

(05:26):
say it would be the situation. I think there needs
to be more foot foot traffic, cops whatever, traffic something
relying on the lights. People do not believe in the
lights anymore. They're they're not buying the lights at all.
It's because the people there need to be signs that
like I ten, they like for blocks I ten entrants
closed because so you don't realize and then they're trying

(05:47):
to get onto E ten and then it's closed, and
then it's a it's an entire mess. And then so
everybody has to disperse left or right, so people are
getting caught the hell they're going. So you have green
lights and you have people in the middle of street
that can't go green. Is just it's a terrible bottlenecks.
So I don't know if it's it's it's a cluster
or what we've decided to do is we're starting to
go through edo now to get around and getting over
there fifty you have to go down navigation.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
You have to go down navigation and get out. That's
that's what Ways told me to do.

Speaker 5 (06:11):
In the way.

Speaker 6 (06:11):
It funny because people who don't care about the lights
no more, they do not care.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
And that's why I think you have to have the
human element in play here, because if if if we
as Hustonians do not believe in the lights, put on
your yellow vests, put on some blanket lights on that
cop whatever.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
He's gonna get hit by a two point fifty. I
hope he's okay, but iur Houston drivers do not care.
So here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
Okay, So what you said if it is in play,
which I totally believe to be accurate, Yeah, then you're
gonna have you have to go to plan and B
because you do not want to have thirty thousand at
the astros. And let's say the Dynamo game got out
at the same time, that would have been even wall.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Yeah, they need detour signs something.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
But what's going on right now is it's got a
I would say this and again, if you it's like
going to a restaurant and if you're if the service
is bad and you have to wait forever for your food,
You're like, you know what, the food's great, but I'm
gonna go I'm not gonna go there because I don't
want to wait that long. It was like the game
took two twenty It took us seventy minutes to get home.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Yesterda on Saturday night.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yeah, you gotta go twenty thousand people. No, it's it's
it's a it's it's a mess.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
It's a cluster, all right, to get off of my chest.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
But yeah, so I think I've decided, Rossie, when I retire,
I'm never gonna leave my house. Yes, I've just been
bitching about traving for six minutes here. Yeah, people need
to go west or east. That's what they need to
do because otherwise it's.

Speaker 4 (07:32):
Yes, it's not all right.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
So Saturday night the Astros hit four home runs, one
on them by our good friend Josale two Bay, and
then Josey swings for the last time and leaves the
batter's box about a foot two feet to the rite
and then says, I'm not gonna finish it out now.
He was out on Friday and then got hurt on Saturday,
and now he's got a grade two oblique stream.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
It didn't sound good.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Well, he's going, why we gotta be grade two or above?
And these in Houston when they're getting hurt, let me
ask you about this oblique. Yes, again, you and I
are not doctors. We put them on the radio here.
It's are people just not stretching properly. Are we not
filling our bodies full of something that would give us

(08:20):
a little fat in the middle or something. This oblique
stuff has become the injury doujeure of the two Times
and twenty six years saster everywhere. It's I mean, it's
all over baseball too. I don't know, I mean it's
I mean there has been a more emphasis on bat speed.

Speaker 4 (08:37):
So our guys just swinging harder.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
Now, I will say this, I don't think it's because
of twenty twenty six. I mean, guys probably in nineteen
eighty three had oblique strains. Yeah, I'm sure they did.
Because you're swinging hard. The body is only going to
let you do it so many times. Yeah, but any
in nineteen seventy six, you're swinging more to contact than
for power. Everybody people did swing for power, of course,
but now it's more all out power than it ever

(09:00):
has been. But he swung and said, I'm not even
going to try running to first base, and he went
right to the clubhouse.

Speaker 4 (09:10):
Oh here we go.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Twenty twenty five article bat speed link to the rise
of oblique injuries bing bang boom. Okay, So if that's
the case, how do we do that? Do we tell
him to slow down a little bit? Oh, yeah, you go,
you go tell chrisia Walker to slow down his swing
and try to just loop a single over the second basement.
So is this a metric ROSSI that is causing injuries?
And how many metrics in our.

Speaker 4 (09:31):
Life are causing velo? Spin, rate, bat speed? All of them? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:37):
So if we said don't worry about any of the above,
do we think we get a forty percent reduction in
injuries in baseball? I don't know, because the guys are
still getting because they can know about him now. The
cat's out of the bag, not gonna just stop swinging hard.
Who knows if you told the guy to swing hard,
they'll hit the ball harder. It took one hundred and
fifty years to figure that out. Yeah, why are we doing?
Why are we talking about this now? In twenty twenty

(09:57):
when we started to doing a sports radio back that night,
d a secret. Did maybe Roof had oblique injuries or
he just had like a curiously strong obliques and wouldn't
like it, wouldn't like a good old fashioned shot though
oblique to take care of everything for us?

Speaker 4 (10:11):
I don't think so. Matt I guarante does either rip
the muscle.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
All right, So you got the two wins on Saturday,
and did yesterday, oh my god, eight nothing. And I
honestly I was only passively watching because I had it.
We had a Carly's graduation party in our house and
it was just two nothing, three nothing, five nothing, seven
and it was eight. Yeah, Peter Lambeau hit the shop
in which we thought was going to happen. You can't.
Peter's gonna give you seven quality innings every five. He

(10:41):
was great to say. I think the first four innings
he was no hitting them. He was no hitting them
for four and then well we have to talk about it.
Was it was on track for a quality start, premium plus.
Make you know what he sounds like? He sounds like
an airline.

Speaker 4 (10:58):
No, you know what I sound like. I not like Disney.

Speaker 6 (11:00):
You kind of got a rossy tweet that you kind
of got a I'm telling.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
You, I'm telling you it's catching on, okay, so much
to Matthew's chagrin.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Well, no, it's because here's the problem.

Speaker 2 (11:12):
Now I'm doing it. See, six runs and three is
six innings and three are runs? Shouldn't be the same
as a perfect game. Okay, so I want you to
read the line to me and I will describe what
it was. Oh, six innings, five runs for Peter Lambert.
Quality start, basic economy. Yeah, basic economy, basic economy. You

(11:32):
cannot you cannot change your seat. But no, we won't
give you a seat until you get to the play.
He was in the middle with a backpack for a
week long trip. One carry on, that's it. You bring
your quarters for the laundry. You'll be sitting in a
seat with zero recline, which is not a bad thing,
all right. Uh. Today on the radio program, Ross will
handle oh crap to tell the truth at eleven thirty,

(11:55):
one hour fifteen.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
We're doing dead over live today. I'm believing or not? Oh,
I love it. That'll be coming up at one fifty.
I got missing you. At one thirty. We have uh
the astros. We have two out of three eight bad.
We have Jose it's oblique. We hashtags save hal two bay,
which I think we've used that several times over the years.
Nothing's going right, even when you win two out of three,

(12:18):
L two ve goes down. But you know what, though,
you know, you know what I did today. What I
looked at the standings. They're only five out.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Okay, they're five Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
Saying only five out is I guess decent enough. But
I would say they're already five out. I feel I
will have my glass half full. Okay, good, they're only
five out.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
Okay. When y' all call the show today.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
Heylockers seven one three two one two five seven, Honty,
everything you must say when you discuss the astros today
will include, Hey, Matt and Ross, they're only five out
seven one three two one two five seven naughty seven
one three two one two five seven ninety ten six
Matt and Ross with you today until two.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
Here on seven ninety.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Ten, twenty two Ross Matt with you. Jonathan our producer.
I hope you guys are a good weekend. Great weekend, Matthew,
how are you? I am grad partied out?

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (13:24):
Well, I mean you should be covered for a while, right, yeah,
but I mean between going to and hosting.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
By the way, I raised a gradzilla. What does that mean?

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (13:33):
Id like a bridezilla. Oh my god, that's great. So
she gets invited to thirty parties? Uh huh?

Speaker 2 (13:40):
And guess and like you have to send gifts with
all these parties. I'm like, well, then cut up, get
him a gift card or something. Mama need twenty hours here, Andy,
twenty hours or why? Why do your parties cost me money?
Her popularity is costing you it is, I'm sorry, Matt.
And then we had a party yesterday at our house.
You wish you had a loser, shut in kid. Hermit

(14:02):
would have been nice, a looner would have been just fine. Well,
you gotta watch out because probably you know these girls
they have they have their buddies in high school, they
have their team, they have their athletic friends, they have
their club friends, they have their church friend. I mean good,

(14:22):
it's like a revolving around of seventeen year olds to butterfly. Yeah,
that's exactly right. So, uh, graduations in my Friday. My
daughter's getting finally graduate Fro high school. So I'll be
three for three done, Fernito Gonzo, Bye, great job, Matt.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Yeah you gotta bay.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
I think you said you got about a thousand with
your kids when it comes to least high school graduation, right,
everything else, at least when it's hih school.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
Yeah, after that, who knows? College you never know? Yeah,
Well all right, seventh well.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Seven one three two one two five seven nine if
you want to get in seven one three two one
two five seven nine zero. Matt and Ross with you
today until two o'clock. And again we got to tell
the truth row style at eleven thirty. I'll do believe
it or not today WHI would be all live or dead.
And we've also got the news at noon, and we
got a little NBA to get to. We have a
new athletic poll out the Athletic Let's the about some

(15:13):
NBA stuff, but it really cross it crosses over to
just general fan mice.

Speaker 4 (15:18):
Have more anonymous polls. Oh yeah, went in, do do anonymous?

Speaker 7 (15:20):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (15:21):
Oh, speaking of that, And this is something that I
have nothing to do with necessarily basketball. Yesterday it was
officially announced that Shake Gilders Alexander the Oklahoma City Thunder,
won his second consecutive MVP award. And as you guys know,
when you're talking about big business with TV networks, each
of these networks get certain little little bonuses. You get

(15:44):
to carry this many games, you get to carry this
many playoff games. You get to carry the All Star game,
you get to carry the All Star announcement. You get
to do the trand deadline. Well. Prime was the official
home of the announcement of the MVP. Okay, Amazon Prime.
Amazon Prime. By the way, they had the game on
last night, which was ow Prime Videos turned out to
be a complete dud.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
It was a dud. James sucked, Yester, Yes, and it
didn't even matter.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
He was terrible. Yeah, everybody else is great though he's
not supposed to be the number one option. You know what,
He's still in six assists. But yeah, he did not
shoot well. But Jared Allen, your buddy from Texas, was great.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Yes, it was great. Masters legend, long ord legend. All right,
So back to my point.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
So the number one reporter for those that don't know
in basketball is Shams Sharania. Shams works for ESPN and
is their intrepid reporter. He's supposed to break all these news. Yes,
ESPN is also a partner of the NBA and a
big one. I mean they carry a boatload of games,
and they carry the finals and they're i mean they're
the number one television.

Speaker 4 (16:43):
All that stuff. Shams breaks the story. Prime's pissed.

Speaker 2 (16:49):
I wanted to hear Matt talk about this is a
good topic.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
So what do y'all think about this?

Speaker 2 (16:54):
Does Shams sit on this or do you think ESPN
is like, I don't care if Prime bought this. You're
our reporter, and when in doubt I can go to
We don't tell our reporters to sit on stories, regardless
of whether we're a television partner or not.

Speaker 4 (17:12):
It's a little bit of a muddy water hit.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
You got Schefter and Rappaport holding back on leaking picks,
but gus who they're both with ESPN now because Rapport
was always NFL network, but ESPN bought an NFL network.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
I think you just thought Shams do what Sham's gonna do? It,
says job No.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
I mean yeah, I mean if he gets the information,
he gets the information. Somebody gave it to him. Somebody
in the league officers gave it to him, and it
wasn't supposed to do that. Because I guess the bigger
issue would be is who gave Shams that report or
that the number, and the NBA should be getting mad
at that dude, not necessarily Shams. But but again, if

(17:51):
I'm Prime and I've spent a lot of money, I'm
the one who's supposed to be denouncing this, not Shams. Yeah,
so Shams. Sham's posted on exit nine to fifty am Eastern,
and then the they wasn't announced by Steve Nash until
seven forty five pm Eastern.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
I mean, it wasn't good nine hours.

Speaker 7 (18:11):
It wasn't.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
I mean, it wasn't hold it for a couple hours.
It wasn't a big secret. I mean in terms of
it was either gonna be him or Whimby. But I
think yeah, sas. But it's it's to a bigger point.
And that's the thing that I that I'd like to
explain to the audience here is that everything now because
of media rights deals, boys can be potentially compromised. This

(18:33):
is the problem though if Shams doesn't do it, Shams.
One of the things that keeps Sham's shop per or
on front of mine for everyone and makes him ESPN
valuable to ESPN is because he's first. So if Shams
holds us back and who knows, Mark Stein or somebody
else who's not necessarily ESPN, there's Yahoo guys or whatever,
they have no affiliation. If one of those guys break

(18:55):
it first they had a Shams, then it's still broken
and it's still spoiled, and then ESPN and Shams don't
get the credit and they're still paying him millions of dollars,
so it kind of feels like he kind of still
has to do it. Okay, I just what I want you.
You can't hold everybody back what I want you to do.
Those Let's think about this from a complete all angles
of this. If I'm Prime, I'm pissed.

Speaker 8 (19:19):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (19:20):
If I'm ESPN, I probably would tell Shams, And clearly
they did because Shams is probably going to ESPN saying, hey,
can I announce this? So how about this, Jonathan? What
does if if Adam Silver calls ESPN and says, rah,
hey we're television partners here. I I'm giving Prime the
MVP announcement?

Speaker 4 (19:41):
How does he how the boys? How does the ESPN
respond back?

Speaker 2 (19:43):
Tell him to keep your boy's mouth shut. Don't tell
as many people. That's like how many people are involved
in counting the votes and all that stuff. That's exactly
just make it fewer people, make them sign in das
and like Russ said that, if you're ESPN, do you
take that risk for other news?

Speaker 4 (19:58):
That's right, let them take it. I mean, doesn't care.

Speaker 2 (20:02):
Uh, make only two or three people involved in the
counting and then make them all sign India's to me,
the bigger the biggest issue is somebody's got loose lips
at the NBA office because Shams is not in the
room counting the votes. I mean, Shams could just link
this without knowing and be right. The betting odds are
like overwhelmingly. Now I can tell you this. Shams could
probably find out who all voted into his own deduction. Yeah,

(20:25):
they do. They do straw polls throughout the year asking
certain voters. I just but there is definite beef. And
if I'm prime again, I'm not trying. I'm not look
as I'm saying this. There is such a blurry line
when it comes to this. But if I'm part of
if I'm cutting prime, if I'm prime and I'm cutting
a check and part of my check is to get

(20:46):
this announcement, I'm mad. I imagine you are. I didn't
even know they had the announcement though, I'll just tune
in for the game. By the way, waiting till again
seven on a Sunday, they probably had their data or whatever.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Yeah, but yeah, and.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
Then it was a blowout, so by halftime it was
I'm sure they lost the easiest thing. Probably Shams could
have done. It's just called it's fifty reporters and said, okay.
And then of the fifty reporters, if thirty three of
them voted yeah, you know SGA number one, it would
you know, he probably could have deduced that. You know,
I don't think you go on the record with saying that,
but you know, just it's just just so y'all know.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
There is all sorts of.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Fine lines politics, politics, local relationship with teams, national relationship
with teams, especial when talking about the big money. Yep,
congratulations to Shay Gilles Alexander. Only fourteen back to back MVPs, ever,
and a number of free throws he'll get tonight will
be fourteen or there's only fourteen multiple MVPs, I believe

(21:50):
Game one of the Western Finals tonight ten thirty on
Sports Talk seven ninety.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
We're talking about being at Saturday's Astros game.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
So really fast on, I need a quick economics analysis.
Why are the cheaper seats always available? If people if
people complain about how expensive tickets are, the lower level,
the mid section are always full. Probably you sell fewer

(22:25):
season tickets there. Probably most of the season tickets get
snapped up at the lower level, and those are the
people that are more going to the games. Yeah, and
you're getting fewer walk ups up there. I don't know.
There's also more available up at the lower level, I
mean up at the upper level, so maybe.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
There's more more volume.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
But doesn't that But that's the case in every sport,
if you you know, if you're like, hey, I want
to be in the ballpark and I want to do
a reasonably wait, the third deck's your friend. But yeah,
those are always empty. I would say Rockets games. It's
the it's the lower bowl looks half empty and then
the upper deck looks very full. Yes, that that may
be the the one off there a little bit there,
but yeah, it was just interesting that because I was

(23:04):
looking around Saturday at the game and like thirty thousands correct,
because the lower level was jammed, middle midsection was jamped,
but epper deck had, you know, plenty of seats up there.

Speaker 4 (23:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
I guess the question is you have to balance do
I want to sit in the upper deck and not
have a good seat at a small price or a
free price and just sit at.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
Home and watch on television.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
Yeah, there was a good amount of Rangers fans there too.
We had one really loud, obnoxious one near us. We
had a suite. We were in our station suite on Saturday,
and the sweet Nexos was full of Ranger fans. It
was almost like that somebody from.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
The Ranger Bros. Really. Yeah, more of those powder blues.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I kind of like the powder blues, but it's fine.
I like the red, white and blues too. I'm sorry,
I'm just being honest. I told you their fans suck.
I despise the Dodgers, but their uniforms, pound for pound
of the best that the white is amazing, the gray
with the La Dodgers, and the blues are.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
Nice too, so good. That's okay.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
We can be honest about things in life. What's the
best Houston uniform we have right now? Of all three teams?

Speaker 4 (24:07):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (24:09):
For me, it's not even close. Oh really, not even
Oh you're gonna go with the blues Sunday, Navy blues
on Sunday, although they wore them on Thursday Thursday. Yeah,
I think sometimes you let the picture decide what you
want to wear. Yeah, Who's uh Thursday?

Speaker 7 (24:19):
Was that?

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Mike Burrows I can't remember. I don't know, but those
with the with the rainbowber Mike Burrows. Oh, tonight we
got to a email. What's he gonna wear?

Speaker 9 (24:30):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Oh, by the way, we got to check the weather here? Okay,
because oh, he's not gonna be happy. Why don't steal
my thunder on this? I didn't steal your thunder. You
brought it up. You know where I was going with it,
so I know. I mean, why else would you bring
it up? Okay, you better get warmed up? All right, kill,
We're gonna play guess the temperature for tonight to say, uh,

(24:53):
let's see May eighteenth, Minneapolis human to guess you can
run all over the place here, but yeah, they could
be anywhere from thirty degrees to eighty right, all right,
today's high?

Speaker 4 (25:04):
Okay? Can I guess?

Speaker 2 (25:05):
I'll give you just three degrees in the direction seventy two?
At first pitch it is expected to be sixty three degrees.
Oh well, first pitch you said today's high. Oh I'm
sorry sixty three?

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Today is only is only gonna be sixty five? So okay,
all right, so god, I hate He's gonna be fine?
Is he gonna say too? Cool. If things don't work
out well today, yeah, well you need to get heated up.
Let's get him in whatever kind of coat, like one
of those uh Tom Brady on the sideline coats. Let's
get him one of those. Keep him heated, we keep

(25:38):
him ready to go. Will he throw more than two
different pitches today?

Speaker 4 (25:42):
All right? Oh?

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Here I said, the over under of pitches. He throws it,
two types of pitches. He throws at two and a half.
Please hit over. He's gonna have to corporate a third pitch.
I like trying to get like I get where they
were thinking. And that really was like the biggest hole
I feel of uh just from tattoo Emai's whole run here.
It's like, okay, yeah he's adjusting. Yeah, maybe some stuff's

(26:04):
lost in translation. But going to the two pitch thing,
that smelled like a panic move to me. That really
worried me. I spoke with a how do I don't
want to give out the identity of this person.

Speaker 4 (26:16):
I would do this.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
I would say a respected, respected baseball voice, okay. And
he said to me, he said, I have never heard
of a team ever fully admitting to tell a picture,
to forget the sky and report. I feel like that
was tattoo Emi and then they're just covering for him.

Speaker 4 (26:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
I feel like he said he only wanted to throw
two pitches, and they're like, oh, okay, let's try that.
Whatever is going to make you happy, pal. So yeah,
that this was this. It feels like it felt like
a panic move and it obviously didn't work out. Hey,
but as I said before the FEMA Today show, they're

(26:58):
only five out, only five out, only five out eyes
of this moment.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
So what does AI say about oblie? Let me pull
it up.

Speaker 2 (27:07):
Preventing obliqu muscle injuries requires a mix of thorough dynamic
warm ups, balanced core strengthening across all three planes of motion,
and gradual progression of rotational activities. Can you give us
the three planes of motion? Jonathan? Do I need to
look that up? Three planes of motion? Yeah, with with
core strengthening. I forgot northeast, upper, upper, lower, and lower

(27:29):
and middle. I mean I can look it up. I
just thought maybe you would know that sounds very sports
science y because you were the athlete, of course, and
not even close among us. I wouldn't know the specific
like the scientifical uh sagital frontal and transverse. There you go,
there's none. The radio show, the marketplace is going to

(27:50):
get like Sagittarius the vert basically yeah, uh three yeah something.
So let me ask you, Jonathan, you were in track
and field. You had guys that what what are they
when they when they throw the ball, they put the
ball underneath their chin? Yeah, I could see some bleak

(28:10):
injuries coming out of that, right.

Speaker 6 (28:12):
Actually, throwers have the strongest cord like of an athlete
you ever meet, because they're doing hundreds of thousands of
every day because they need so.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
We need a shot and put her on the training staff.
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (28:25):
That they might not be doing enough to strengthen those
obliques because they're trying to get that mobility in that fast.

Speaker 2 (28:32):
Yeah, obleaks have been played now. Bat speed has been
like kind of an in vogue the last couple of years.
So maybe the the the training need they need to
catch up. So do you think batting coaches, Well, and
we'll ask us to Joamars, I'm curious about this. Do
you think that batting to go to batting coaches are
intentionally asking the guys to swing? Do you think that

(28:55):
jose L t that was a big story in twenty
twelve when he first became a major leaguer. Is he's
swinging harder today than he did fourteen years ago? I
think absolutely he is, because remember he was hitting like
three fifty with not him all out of pop, and
then the last couple of years he's been hitting you know,
twenty plus thirty home runs. He has absolutely changed. But
that's also what I don't know how much of it

(29:15):
is with the times or with he's knowing he's in decline. Yeah,
he he used to spray everything and swing everything, and
now he's been, at least the last few years a
little bit more judicious and more and with more pop.
So he's kind of he's definitely evolved, And I don't
know how much of that is is evolved with the
gamer evolved because he's just you know, did you lose

(29:35):
some of your bat to ball skills as you age?

Speaker 6 (29:37):
It's probably very difficult to balance these things too, because
I mean, all right, you want to train your obliques
and your core, but also you don't want to get
too much when you're swinging your bat where you're hurting
at practice, like, you know, because more important is to
get that those bat swings and you know batting practice right.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
And I would also say, if we're assuming that el
Tuo Bay is adjusting the way he swings, I could
get that for a guy who thirty five thirty six.
We're walking at Jake Myers with obleek, We're looking at
other players around. These are twenty something year old guys.
What did Jake Myers tell us in springtime? Oh, don't
say it, you say it. I asked you.

Speaker 4 (30:09):
You want more pop?

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Okay? He said he was focusing on more slug and
then what happened? He ripped his oblique. So yeah, maybe
there is a correlation. We want we want more striders.
What we want we want more fluid, swing, more Luisa
rias As is this we want contact? Like who would
you do? They used to have you go and watch
him in like the nineteen twenties. They're like half swinging.
Eh heah, come Honus Wagoner to the mound. He's heading

(30:33):
three eighty because yeah, he's just popping the ball over
second base getting singles like who has a sweet y'all
can help us out with this?

Speaker 4 (30:43):
Who has a fluid?

Speaker 2 (30:45):
You know, I'll give you the greadest I think the
sweetest swing that I've ever seen. Personally, I think I
know what you're gonna say. This person's dead. Oh, never
mind that person's alive, mine's dead. Tony Gwynn, Oh, that's
a good one. I was gonna say.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
King Griffy jrg.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
Kan Griffy Junior for me is the greatest left handed
bat I've ever seen in terms of a swing. If
I wanted to copy a bat, yeah, the style, but
Tony Gwynn would is. Tony Gwinn never worried about a
lot of home runs. He never worried about lug. All
he did was just hit singles, singles, singles. He hit
three thirty eight, but he and he never I don't

(31:25):
know what's the most home runs he had. I think
early in his career he had like a fifteen And
the problem was he didn't have a lot of speed,
so he knew that the best singles.

Speaker 4 (31:33):
Yeah, great hitter, not a lot of pop. God dude, Tony.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
Would Tony Gwynn be loved in twenty twenty six, I
don't think so, not as much. No, did he ever
have a nine hundred ops? Probably at some point, but well,
probably the only reason why I ever had that was
because he had somebody hits. Hmm, I'm gonna claim, I
bet you, I'm gonna go I'm make a one dollar
bout he's never had.

Speaker 4 (31:55):
He had never had a nine hundred ops.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
You owed a couple of dollars? Damn how many times?
Three times? Nine to fifty eight? One year? Damn good
for him? Would he hit three seventy good's?

Speaker 4 (32:10):
That was yeah?

Speaker 2 (32:11):
In eighty seven. Then one year he had actually in
a thousand ops in one hundred and ten games. Wow,
But they had guess because he had on base of
forty four or four to fifty four.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Wow, incredible.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Most home runs in a season he ever hit was seventeen,
and then he had a nine to fifty seven. But
career eight forty seven. That sounds about right. All time great, obviously,
all time great. Seven one three, two, one two five
seven niney. If you want to join our program today,
we'd love to have you y'all out there today.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Good morning, ten o'clocker's. Oh.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
One more thing about the Obliques I wanted to say
is that the uh there was a big story last
year about the Toronto Blue Jays hitting coaches and telling
them to get more bats, feed and everybody's saying that's
why they made the World Series because they're in the
hitting coach he told him to speed up the bats.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
I mean, it's it's very in vogue, and it's so
we're in blue O leagues. Okay, So if that's the case,
then you have to train your body differently.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
Yeah. And are the athletes, if the coaches are telling
to swing harder, are the athletes doing things when they're
not in the field of play and not at the
batter's box that are preparing themselves for that? I do
think Rossie, there's some sort of correlation to that.

Speaker 4 (33:22):
I think you're right.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
I would agree. Seven one three two one two five
seven ninety seven one three two one two five seven
nine zero. It's a Matt and Ross with you here
on a Monday. We've got to tell the truth. Coming
up at eleven thirty today seven one three two one
two five seven nine zero right now, only five out.

(33:44):
That's our theme today. I mean, it's not my job
to try to sell it, but it's my job to
hopefully keep you guys vested and entertained and at least
thinking about the local. Nine Astro is opening up a
weekend a week three game series against Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (34:01):
Tatsu am I going to throw? Care to put a.

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Guess and how I mean went out there through two
pictures of.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Gun shell You I think.

Speaker 2 (34:18):
I saw. You know. I listened to a lot of radio
in this town. Most of it's horrific. Uh Ross sold
it my positivity more than any other sportscaster in this town.

Speaker 4 (34:28):
I was just trying.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
I was.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
I was trying to pale your negativity. I was trying
to pull us the other way. Yeah, how to go negative? Realistic?

Speaker 10 (34:39):
No?

Speaker 2 (34:39):
You know what? I wait, Hey, I didn't give up
that grand slam that to run home run.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
He would have had a pretty good I do.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
Believe there's a there's a difference between being negative and
being realistic. Negative is you don't want them to ever
be successful. Realistic is you know who they are. Well,
we don't know who he is. Okay, No, you don't.
He's only made five starts. Whose fault is that? Yeah,
it took it took Mike Burrow's like nine starts to
have a good one and then well he kind of
faltered last time.

Speaker 4 (35:05):
But that's okay, And.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Mike Burrow has been in America's whole life. Okay, all right,
starts so, No, the book is not written on tatsu.
I mean chapters though one literally one in America. What's
the American chapter? It's part two, Part one is growing
up in Japan. It's written in crayon. No, terrible, No,
it's it's just it's a manuscript right now. It's not

(35:26):
even published. Yeah, okay, yeah, all right, we have to
do this. Okay, you write them off the rest of
his life, so you might will never be a good picture.
Matt Thomas says, no, you just said it. He had
the books written. No, we have to write the book
for this season. Let's make a bet.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
I'm not making a bet.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
No, I'm not betting on a guy who goes out
there and only throws two pictures and gets shelved. Put
to the money where your mouth. The mouth is. I'm
trying to be optimistic. I didn't say it's gonna happen.
I didn't give you odds. If you want, and the
positivity is within the range of outcomes, is an of
course it is okay because because if the askers are
only going to be only blank out, they need Emi

(36:07):
to help with that exactly. They're gonna turn the season
around which we're gonna hope he's got to be a
big part of that.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
We are we are hoping, or maybe he's just not.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Gonna he's gonna we we said, sink or swim, Well
he sank last week. Can he start paddling? What do
we gotta throw him a life saver? What does the
mints have to do anything? Oh uh, this guy, I'm
sorry that was terrible. I apologize for that, but that's okay.
Hit me with a zap on that. You gotta get

(36:36):
you gotta be you gotta dare to be great Mann.
You know what I'm doing. Actually, my blood pressure is
lowering a little bit. Did you rip your oblique on
that with? So here's theory.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
When you when you when.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Your blood pressure is lower than it was when it was, say,
fifty five minutes ago, you.

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Tell terrible feeling good?

Speaker 2 (36:51):
How was it?

Speaker 4 (36:51):
I mean overall health? Yeah, doctor got you, Yeah, we
get you.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Royd it up. Well, yeah we found out that that
he means the lower that blood pressure.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (36:59):
Oh really, who's been telling you to relax.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
For ten years? And I am highly iron deficient.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
So that's what I said that too, And I gotta
cut down away you give me a kope, and I
gotta cut down on carbs. Oh really, you were doing
that for a while. I gotta get back. So difficult
it is today. I brought nothing but meat for lunch today,
so you're gonna have meat in your mouth all day. Well,
at some point, shout out to Roddy's Barbeque. You did

(37:32):
a great job yesterday. Yes, we had Roddy's. Roddy's a
listener of ours, and he and his crew came out
to the house and to set the barbecue.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
We had a fantastic.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Sources close to the party say, you were mugging down
on some brisket.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
I was.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
He makes good brisket, he does. I'm bringing you guys
some lunch tomorrow. By the way, Jonathan, don't you get
left over from the party. Yeah. He made some potato
salad that was to die for it. Oh, I know,
some of the best potato stalle I've ever had in
my entire life. And he also made a cumber tomato salad.
It was quite delicious. So Roddy, if you listen, there's
your shot out my friend. And he gave me no diseguy,
he just you just a listener to the show, and

(38:05):
you sometimes you.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
Gotta take care of the local listen. Yees.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
So Roddy's barbecue very good. Yeah, I think he's gonna
be what in the Heights and the gardens. I've been
one of the heightspear gardens.

Speaker 4 (38:12):
We he go, Oh, I think it is Heights beer Garden.
He goes to. He goes to, Uh, there's another one
in Magnolia. He goes to. I go, I'll go ahead
and see him.

Speaker 2 (38:19):
Yeah, good, good stuff, Yeah, really good. All right, second
hour of the show is about to get underway. Uh
we have a uh Cleveland, Detroit. You think you think
y'all grew up your rocket fans Detroit? The number one
seed bounce again, sixty wins and got blown out at
home in a game seven JB. Bickerstaff see you later.

(38:41):
But he's only been there, like, this's the head guy
for two years. A couple of years. Right, here's the problem.
The ward is out on JB. What's the word the
war does? He just spends too much time bitching about officiator.
Oh he's not game planning. Yeah, let's see. Yeah, he's
been there since twenty four that's only two seasons. Didn't
last long in Clevelandland either what he doing. He's kind
of bounced around because they need to. They're gonna get

(39:06):
a win now mode right now with that core they have.
James harden is one series away.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
I'm going to the NBA Finals for the second time.

Speaker 7 (39:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
First time was Oklahoma City as a sixth man, by
the way, and he was terrible. Willa were you at?
Was that game seven?

Speaker 4 (39:22):
Willa where it was two of ten?

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Will where are you? One of them was kind of
a put back layup. I didn't see the first I
don't remember what the first make was.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
It was bad.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
Did he even make a three? No, he was o
of I don't remember six or something in that point.
But hey, that just shows you how good Cleveland is.
If James suck the rest, he wasn't being that. He's
not there to be the alpha dog. He's not an
alpha dog at the state of his career. He's thirty
seven years old.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
Is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
Hello, El one o'clockers, Hello, ten o'clock, We're y'all?

Speaker 11 (39:59):
Been?

Speaker 8 (40:01):
Is it eight?

Speaker 2 (40:01):
Nothing?

Speaker 4 (40:02):
Just take the life out of the city. He does sweep.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
Aren't you happy that I've gone an hour and five?
But not even bringing up the text. And yet what
did they do?

Speaker 4 (40:11):
Nothing? That's the thing, is it nothing to do anything?

Speaker 7 (40:13):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Okay, oh we could, we got we could talk about
the NFL. We do a few things. NFL owners meetings
this week. Your thoughts about the owners meetings? I've been
to one?

Speaker 4 (40:26):
Oh you really?

Speaker 2 (40:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (40:27):
You had to go cover them when I was to.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Oh, it hadn't been when I was there covering the
Astros in the spring training. This is when they were
in Kassimi, So it was in Orlando. So yeah, I
was gonna say probably at least ten years or so. Okay,
it's hardy, Tody. Of course they're staying in these amazing
hotels and indoor resorts, and naturally sometimes the owners are
affable and want to come and walk and talk to you,
and then the other times they're like, I have nothing

(40:51):
to say. Like Bob McNair when he was the owner
of the team, would always come over and at least
say hello.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
He wouldn't try to duck. There are some NFL owners
that are probably duck.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
And my guess is Robert cry after ducking any conversation
about Mike Rabel and his little hussy girlfriend. You mean
his National Reporter side piece, side piece. Yeah, it was
weird that when the schedule release came out, some Twitter
accounts reported the NFL was not going to put any

(41:20):
like we need to look at your schedule lease before
we let you publish it, because they were the assumption
that people were going to take some pot shots at
Mike Rabel.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
And Diana were sining. So yeah, and I didn't look
at all thirty two of them.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
So some of them did. I think. I think the well,
the charters always do something. Yeah, they're kind of like
the ogs of these schedule releases. It's the elephant in
the room. Why do I have to act like this
didn't happen. Why do I have to act like the
whole country wasn't talking about this?

Speaker 4 (41:45):
It's pretty funny. Oh, I think.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
I think the only people that didn't think that there
we should no one was talking about it was the NFL.
Everybody else like, yeah, this is top of mind. If
there's some big scandal at seven ninety in Tampa, we
might talk about it.

Speaker 4 (41:58):
We're in the same company.

Speaker 2 (42:00):
I don't know if it was with Sham's report on
your first All right, So the astros did fall yesterday
eight to nothing. They did take two out of three.
We did play meet loaf. I was happy about two
out of three. Isn't bad they meet lofted. They didn't mean,
you know, if they meet a lift the things the
rest of the way back of the race. Well, if
you meet all season, you're one hundred win team. By
the way, Phillies have they since the managerial change have

(42:20):
been playing an excellent baseball. You also have an excellent
roster with healthy players. Yes, Ryce Harper is in the
heart of their lineup. They're doing okay, Yeah, who's at
the what's gonna be at the top of the Astros
lineup now?

Speaker 4 (42:31):
Without two way out?

Speaker 7 (42:33):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (42:33):
This this week? Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 2 (42:35):
Kayley's pain is coming back, they said Pinion Meyer Joe
spottis opinion.

Speaker 4 (42:40):
Myers perhaps in Minnesota, right, yes, okay.

Speaker 2 (42:42):
And it's a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, they're off Thursday, and
then Friday they play the Cubs in Chicago. Oh, Friday's
one of those one o'clock day games, right, yes, sir? Yeah,
love day baseball. We love day base absolutely. Who wouldn't
see this general enerration? Like my even my boys don't
understand that. When I was growing up. There were no

(43:04):
night games in Chicago. Well, there wasn't until I was like,
what the teenager? There was but yeah, right until the eighties.
But eighty eight, I want to say something that range. Yeah, well,
part of the reason why people thought the Cubs were
never going to win was because they were so fatigued
because they were playing so many day games. Really, yeah,
that sad they were getting suns at. Yeah, okay, I mean,

(43:24):
I mean, I'm not lying to you. I think they
were thinking, hey, one billy goat. That could have been
the case too. But day after day after day of
playing an eating look at this guy, he nailed it.
Nineteen eighty eight. Yeah, these foods didn't install lights until
eighty eight. I knew they didn't have I guess I
knew they didn't have night games, but I didn't think that,
like even lights weren't installed.

Speaker 4 (43:45):
Yeah, there was nothing. There were.

Speaker 2 (43:46):
There were games when they would have rain delays, they
would be they would have to worry about maybe being
too dark to finish the game.

Speaker 4 (43:52):
Sometimes that's hilarious.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
And remember one twenty games sound really fun in the
summertime and in the cool like April May. But man,
you get into June July.

Speaker 4 (44:04):
One one, twenty one twenty.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
They were getting beat up. Yeah, I get it, so
it makes sense. But they did win in Division eighty four,
so it's not like they didn't. They were into him
some success. But yeah, a bunch of whiners. But let
me tell you there was nothing. Here's in today's editiontive man.
It was cool back in the day. Yes, you'd come
home from school at three o'clock and they'd be in
the fourth inning of a game, like, oh, I get
to sit back WGN, WGN, and who is this now?

Speaker 4 (44:30):
Yeah, who's just go ahead? Mary Carey Man.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
And then my that's where I first got to know
who Mile Hamilton was, because Mile would do the first
three innings and the last three innings on radio, and
then he and Harry would flip and Mile would do
the middle three innings on TV.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (44:48):
So and they didn't get along, and so Mile I
was like, I'm getting the hell out of here and
coming to Houston in eighty five. Yes, there can continued
his legendary Hall of Fame created all right seven one
three two one two five seven ninety seven one three
two one two five seven nine zero. We do have
game one of the Western Conference Finals coming up tonight.

(45:10):
San Antonio versus Minnesota Boyd No, San Antonio versus Oklahoma
City Man San Antonio crush the Wolves all the weekend.
I'm gonna be saying, this is the point finally some
appointment playoff basketball for me, and all the games, by
the way, are on NBC, so it should be very
little issues trying to figure out where they are. Yeah,

(45:31):
a little round ball rock, let's go. Yeah, this is
the NBA Finals. I don't know New York's playing really well,
it's the NBA Finals. To me, whoever wins this is
winning it all. So we're not playing. To tell the truth,
my version, I still I did change my mind. Oh
it's in twenty minutes.

Speaker 4 (45:53):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
Uh, I thought I should save that. I thought I
had San Antonio when if they were gonna play each other.
But I think I'm gonna change my mind because I
really thought that Jaylen Williams absence was gonna hurt Oklahma
City aj.

Speaker 4 (46:09):
A J A J. Williams. Aj What is he Jas's
last name?

Speaker 5 (46:13):
Come?

Speaker 4 (46:13):
Jonad Blank Mitchell A J. Mitchell. He has plat out
of his mind.

Speaker 2 (46:18):
Chet's playing well, Shay's getting the free throw line fifteen times.
Alex Caruso is a pasty gangster when it comes to defense.

Speaker 4 (46:28):
Okay, what do you think I think I was gonna say,
sasty gangster? Yeah, sure, why not.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
That's what Jim Roal used to call John Stockton back
in the day, the pasty gangster. All right, Isaiah Hartenstein
just floats up those little eight footers over and over again.
They're good, Isaiah, Joe Kendridge, Williams, They're loaded, San Antonio loaded.
It's the Fine Castle, the Aaron Fox, Wembin Yama, Dylan Harper,

(46:55):
I forgetting Harrison Barnes.

Speaker 4 (46:59):
They're really good. They're really good. I'm sad.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
I wonder if better than the Rockets, better than the
fully healthy Rockets. I wonder if other teams, and I'm
talking about rafel Stone and everybody else understands that just
to knock these two boys, these two teams off the
top of the pedestal, it's gonna take a really incredible offseason.
I mean seismic moves. You think we're working out here

(47:28):
in Houston. They're flipping the you know what out of Minneapolis.
They have Randall, who was terrible, go Bear who got
beat up in the second in this series. And uh
Anthony Edwards, who's gonna ultimately say, look, if you don't
give you some better parts, I'm gonna get the hell
out of here. Do he recently signed any sension?

Speaker 3 (47:48):
Right?

Speaker 4 (47:49):
Didn't those things?

Speaker 12 (47:50):
I mean?

Speaker 4 (47:50):
No, you can move in. So it's in.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
Denver, same situation. What do they do with Jamal Murray
and Nicola Joki? Mean, there are so many teams that
are the Lakers?

Speaker 4 (48:00):
Do you do?

Speaker 2 (48:01):
You do you give Austin Rivers and Austin Rivers Austin
uh reeves a huge contract? Well, this is the disease.
We're all a party two. Well we didn't win at all.
What do we do? What are we doing wrong? What
do we do?

Speaker 4 (48:16):
Let's reshuffle this? As WeDo that sometimes you're not good enough.
I don't know what the Rockets can do anything.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
They can trade for Giannis, they can stay pat, they
can blow it up whatever.

Speaker 4 (48:26):
I don't know what if they can do anything to
be better than Oklahoma City. So we're talking.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
You used to mention the You mentioned Denver, you mentioned Minnesota.
We're here in Houston, you mentioned La. Everybody's sitting here
and when the Spurs, if and when the Spurs or
the thunder lose, like, how do we get better?

Speaker 4 (48:39):
How do we do it?

Speaker 2 (48:40):
Everybody's just like sometimes there's just not enough resources, there's
not enough great players that you can get. They're just
gonna make you win it all all of a sudden.
So I don't know what you do, but it's almost
like there's an insane pressure of course just fix things,
like for instan I'll give you an example.

Speaker 4 (48:55):
We'll turn into the astros here for a second. Everyone
is wigging out about the pitching.

Speaker 2 (49:01):
Well just and that's when although Yordon Avarez conversation came
into play a couple of weeks, like, hey, you can
go get three or four line front line pictures. Are
you sure they're frontline pictures? Just because they throw and
have success doesn't necessarily mean they're going to fix your
problems for now. If you were to trade Jordon, and
I don't want to get into a trade Yordon conversation,

(49:22):
but if you were, you're not doing it to fix
twenty twenty six. You're probably trading Yordon Alvarez to be
good in twenty twenty eight, right ROSSI you can't you
can't fix this overnight. You can't even fix it another year,
you trade you. I would keep yord On and then
try to be good in twenty twenty eight. With yord
On it.

Speaker 4 (49:41):
Thirty years old, which I'm comfortable with he is.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
I mean, he's untouchable with me, but nobody's untouchable. I
mean Wan Sodo got moved twice. But also it is
a difference. That's because everybody was trying to avoid his
big deal. Yeah, they wanted to get something like, we're
not gonna pay this guy three quarters of a billion dollars,
so let's get something. We running that problem here, that's
moving Kyle Tucker. People talking about moving Hunter Brown, well

(50:09):
on moving Jeremy Paine.

Speaker 4 (50:11):
Jordon's big money.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
But you're going from arbitration, which is like fifteen twenty
million or whatever, to forty million.

Speaker 4 (50:16):
That's a big leap.

Speaker 2 (50:17):
If you're going from twenty eight million for Jordon to
forty million, that's not as much of a big leap.
So maybe it's easier to take the hit from an
accounting perspective, I don't.

Speaker 4 (50:24):
Know, all right.

Speaker 2 (50:25):
The Athletic has a survey. I love anonymous player surveys. Now,
how do you feel about and anonymity when it comes
to surveys.

Speaker 4 (50:38):
Because I mean something, get a more honest opinion.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
But you also sometimes want people to put their name
on things, but they won't do it.

Speaker 4 (50:44):
Yeah, so I mean it is what it is, so
they would.

Speaker 2 (50:47):
You get your anonymity coming in next, We've got to
tell the truth at the bottom of the hour seven
one three, two one two five seven ninety all right,
So I think all of us have been, at some
point in our life been in part of these anonymous polls.

(51:09):
Like many years ago, before you even worked here, there
was an anonymous pole about the leadership of this building.

Speaker 4 (51:15):
Really and oh, have you ripped them a new one? No,
I wasn't even here.

Speaker 2 (51:19):
I had left because I heard this second hand and
they had said people are leaving this company because of
this reason in these people to match exactly what my
thought was. Yeah, So when I found out about this
when I was in Salt Lake City, I was pretty happy, like, man,
why don't you take this survey when I was there?

Speaker 4 (51:37):
Yeah, you felt validated? Yeah I did. But point being
is that.

Speaker 2 (51:42):
To what you said a minute ago, it you do
find yourself to be a little more free flowing when
you can absolutely not tell anybody who you are and
what you said. So, the NBA had this anonymous player poll,
and again, some of the stuff you won't care about,
and some of you will. So I'm gonna give you
what I think would be the most important parts of
parts of it, uh, the player poll. And let me

(52:05):
see if I give you the number of players that
were asked. This is from they They started asking these
players from February to April, one hundred and sixty one players.
It's a record high. That is pretty good. So that's
a really good sample size, sample size. Yes, Number one,
they said.

Speaker 4 (52:23):
Where do you think Giannis will be to start next
season the NBA? Okay, Milwaukee overwhelmingly forty six percent. Mysterest.

Speaker 2 (52:34):
Miami was two. The Rockets were seventh at one point
three percent.

Speaker 4 (52:38):
Okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
Next, this is the one that I this is not
just about the NBA, It's about sports in general. Here
in Houston, which arena has the most passionate fans?

Speaker 4 (52:52):
Oh? Can I guess?

Speaker 9 (52:55):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (52:56):
In the city?

Speaker 2 (52:57):
Not?

Speaker 5 (52:58):
Third?

Speaker 4 (53:00):
I don't know. Then Celtics TD Garden okay twenty one percent?
Who was second? Knicks nineteen percent? Where were Where was
the Toyota Center? It's fourth?

Speaker 2 (53:11):
Right?

Speaker 4 (53:14):
Okay? Please stay with me as I do this.

Speaker 2 (53:20):
One, two, three, four, five, Yeah, not there, six seven, eight, nine, ten,
not there, not there, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, not there, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen.

Speaker 4 (53:31):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (53:32):
There are twenty teams that got at least one percent,
at least one percent others receiving votes twenty one, twenty two,
twenty three, twenty four, twenty five. So of the one
hundred and sixty one, yeah, we didn't make the top

(53:55):
twenty five.

Speaker 4 (53:57):
How many teams are in the NBA? There are thirty?

Speaker 2 (53:59):
Oh, thank you for clarifying that, Matthew. I didn't want
to clarify it, but since you asked, it's my job
to clarify. I know, I don't know what to tell you.
Don't look at me like that. You're looking at me
like what can we do? I don't know.

Speaker 4 (54:14):
Okay, that's what.

Speaker 2 (54:16):
You're gonna say, are you? Let's let's sting of this
from two different perspectives. If you're a if you if
if you're a Houstonian, you get offended by this. Some
some other people would not be surprised by this. But
if you're the Rockets, are you horrified by this that
you didn't make the top twenty five out of thirty.
I mean, it's got to be a bottom five in

(54:37):
every every poll that you ever do. So somebody's gotta
be in there. I want to ask.

Speaker 4 (54:42):
Rockets officials about this.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
How does it? You know, gretchen Cher, who we've had
on a couple of times, the president, what can we do?
We at least could crack the top twenty five twenty
We are no better now Again, this is hundred and
sixty one bros. Yeah, everything they play, but they're playing,
and they're and they all go every arena. Every one

(55:07):
of them comes every arena unless they got no.

Speaker 4 (55:09):
Bleak, injury or whatever. They only play home games.

Speaker 2 (55:11):
That's nobody's got a home only schedule like late stage
Bill Warrel.

Speaker 4 (55:16):
They're not.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
They're not Roger Clemmins in this boy. Yeah, I'm not
getting on that plane. You shut your bum ass up.
So one hundred and sixty one guys, we don't make
the we don't get The best we could finish is
twenty sixth Let's assume for our sake they're talking.

Speaker 4 (55:37):
The best possible landing spot twenty six.

Speaker 2 (55:42):
Is that because we have other fans of other cities
that infiltrate our arena. Is it because we have a
later arriving crowd? Is it because there's it's very corporately downstairs?
But I travel on the NBA streets, A lot of
cities are corporately crowds in the lower up That's true. Okay,
Well you travel the NBA streets, you go to all
thirty arenas.

Speaker 4 (56:02):
Where does Matt Thomas have them ranked? We need to
do better.

Speaker 9 (56:09):
Now.

Speaker 4 (56:09):
I don't want to punish.

Speaker 2 (56:10):
I don't want to rip bottom fans here, but this
is the reality, is that a lot of corporates the
lower half ball is low and a lot, as we
were even mentioned earlier in this show, you do have
a lot of people that are up at the top.
It does get passionate and get going for the occasional
I mean playoff game. You also haven't had a lot
of sustained success to have the city latch on. I

(56:31):
would imagine the Astros if we went to every sport,
I would imagine the Texans are probably bottom third, and
then the Astros are maybe more middle of the pack.
Yeah yeah, all right, so let's go to a couple
more free which arena has the most obnoxious fans obnoxious,
I'll go TD Garden again. That's correct. Okay, let's go
to the Rockets. You don't know that yet, I'm asking eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen.

(56:59):
So we're not in the top four that that's good.
That's good because nobody's nobody's in the lower bowl.

Speaker 4 (57:04):
You can't be here.

Speaker 7 (57:05):
We go.

Speaker 4 (57:06):
Now, I'm going down the list.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
There's a part of the grade obnoxiousness. I'm going on
the list of people that get less than one percent. Okay, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, okay, nine, nine.
So we're we're a worst case. We're the twenty fourth
and most obnoxious fan base. That's because no, I'm just

(57:29):
reporting it. Imagine there's a direct correlation between for the
most part, between obnoxiousness and rotting and rest at least
some correlation. Okay, because you just said number one is
Boston in both correct, yep, last one on the list.
And this is more about organization and or city. You

(57:49):
tell me which will you this? What's the first team
on your no trade list? Ooh, Utah, Utah is Sixthly,
I'll let him guess that.

Speaker 4 (58:04):
I got another guess. What did you say?

Speaker 2 (58:05):
Memphis thirty five percent Memphis.

Speaker 4 (58:08):
First, look at this, guy nailed it.

Speaker 2 (58:12):
Well, think about this, this this is a correlation to
crappy hotels. Well, it's gonna be a uh, well they
don't stay at the hotels when you live there, that
you would want to go to Memphis that way, you
don't have to stay at the hotel.

Speaker 4 (58:25):
You know, I never thought of it that way.

Speaker 2 (58:28):
Is there gonna be think pieces all across the country
about this one too? When what happened when Lebron James
said he didn't like Memphis?

Speaker 4 (58:34):
How could he do this?

Speaker 13 (58:35):
Memphis is such a wonderful community and I can't believe
that Lebron James would say this. This is unconscionable. Here
here's my five thousand words think piece about Memphis.

Speaker 2 (58:45):
So top six. You mentioned Jazz six, Brooklyn five New
Orleans four King's three Wizards to Grizzlies one. I think
to me, this is this particular two Wizards are two?
Is about the futility of franchise. Yeah, I mean the
Wizards can be better though now they get trade young
and chrisofs there number one pick No, he's person he's

(59:08):
free traded, but he was with Golden State Okay, all right,
So here we go.

Speaker 4 (59:11):
How the Rockets do on this.

Speaker 2 (59:14):
One two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen. Well,
that's at least one percent.

Speaker 4 (59:20):
That's good. Here we go one, two, three, four, five six.
We are nineteenth on the note trade list.

Speaker 2 (59:27):
Okay, it's good. That's really good. Right, yeah, I guess
rather be like, you know, twenty six like the other lists.
That's okay.

Speaker 4 (59:38):
Lastly, what do the smartest team spend money on? Players?
This is interesting?

Speaker 2 (59:44):
Players, organized investment, fan facing measures.

Speaker 4 (59:51):
I don't even know what that means.

Speaker 2 (59:53):
Like the Clippers wall What do the smartest team spend
money on beyond player contract?

Speaker 4 (59:57):
Excuse me, let me make sure.

Speaker 2 (59:58):
Okay, organizational and fan facing measures six point seven percent
like the rowdies and stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
I don't know. The family experience seven point four percent.

Speaker 2 (01:00:07):
Okay, eighty six percent, player comfort, staff facilities except to ride.
Oh really, imagine that the players voted for player comforts.
That's interesting.

Speaker 4 (01:00:18):
I can't believe that thought that was interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
So we're not. We're not among the rowdiest places people
do not. Well, here's the reality to think about this.
Some of the worst losses the Rockets have had in
the last ten years have been inside this arena, the
Golden State Game, the Golden State Game. I was there
last year's Golden State Game. Rim Ron TIMPs wouldn't shut up.
This year's games. I wanted to punch him right in

(01:00:44):
the throat. Yeah, while were rhyme because because every they
went over twenty seven from three and basically every three
they missed. Use Oh my ah, I've never said anything
like this up.

Speaker 4 (01:00:57):
Was he spasming or something?

Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
Yes, all right, Jonathan, it's a double play. Wednesday Monday,
here on the show. If you get to tell the
truth from Ross, you get two points.

Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
Oh is that true? What is the segment?

Speaker 5 (01:01:12):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:01:12):
God? Next?

Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
Oh Christ, leave Ross alone for a moment, just a
moment here seven one three, two one two five seven
ETI to tell the Truth is up next eleven thirty
on Sports Talk seven euty.

Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
Tell me.

Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
I don't know why you tell me?

Speaker 9 (01:01:43):
All right?

Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
So the question is, can I look at you as
you read these takes?

Speaker 7 (01:01:48):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (01:01:48):
Why not?

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
Because Jonathan's got a good view? I think, yeah, I
got a good view. You know what I'm gonna do.
I'm gonna this is this is theater of the mind.
So I'm gonna close my eyes. Okay, as you read
these four takes, I will not look at your mo
I want to look at your potential smirks or you're laughing,
or your small pauses to figure out which one.

Speaker 4 (01:02:08):
So what do we got this week? How many takes?
You got?

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
Four?

Speaker 4 (01:02:10):
I have four?

Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
I believe one. Only one of them all Astros edition.
Oh this is a special edition. Remember time you get
two points, you get this, right, I like this. Tell
the truth ross the floor doesn't.

Speaker 4 (01:02:21):
Get two points. Okay, See, he's not going against me.
It's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
I'm just trying to I'm going against your you know. No,
you're not going against me. You know what to vote?
O my god, let's give him six points. We're give
him ten points whatever. All right, let's get this bad
boy started. One of the bright spots this season has been,
of course, Spencer Arragetty.

Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
He is five and one with a one point.

Speaker 2 (01:02:52):
Five zero e r A. I've seen enough now. He's
not gonna win the cy Young or anything like that.
He's not gonna to stay at a one point five
zero ERA, but I think he will hover.

Speaker 11 (01:03:04):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:03:05):
I wanted to say under three.

Speaker 2 (01:03:06):
I think that's a little much, and I feel like
three point fifty was a little high.

Speaker 4 (01:03:10):
So stay with me here.

Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
I'm gonna say under an era of three point four
zero all season long for Spencer Arraghetti, the sample size
is good. He's striking guys out. Sure, he's walking, so
he will give up a few runs, but easily under
three forty era on the season full Spencer, I'll we'll

(01:03:31):
get it.

Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
Write these down. This is this is okay.

Speaker 2 (01:03:34):
Number two the latest injury unfortunately for jose Al two
of A. He's been getting hurt the last couple of years.
He's been declining his ops is what did do we say?

Speaker 4 (01:03:48):
Matt?

Speaker 2 (01:03:49):
It's hovering around seven hundred. He's thirty six years old.
He's at twenty four hundred and twenty eight hits.

Speaker 4 (01:04:00):
He's not getting there. It hurts me. It pains me.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
An all time great number twenty seven, retired Hall of
Famer jose Al Tuve is not getting to three thousand hits,
and I don't even like I feel I can hear
people yelling at me when I say that. If you're
yelling at raw, I'm sorry.

Speaker 4 (01:04:23):
How long is it gonna be out with this oblique?
How's it going to be healthy?

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
At thirty seven, thirty eight, thirty nine, forty. He needs
to average one hundred and fifty hits for four more years.
He's got forty hits this year, one fifty six last year.
I just don't think so. Number three, the trade deadline
will come and Christian Walker will be moved. I feel

(01:04:53):
like it's pretty close to a guarantee, and I'm gonna
put Estoc Paratus out of Maybe you're talking about guys
who are easily expendable and replaceable when you get fully healthy,
when you get Korea back, when you get Jeremy Penya back.
So I think for sure, Christian Walker, the way that
he's been hitting, even though he's in a little bit
of a swoon, other teams are going to be interested
in his services. You're five games back, you're gonna be

(01:05:16):
I feel like at least in two months, probably well
enough out of the race to have enough people to
take the bait on Christian Walker. He's gone east O
Paratus I have is a fifty to fifty shot of
being traded away. Okay, Number four, this might surprise some
of you, but Joe Aspota is going to make it

(01:05:39):
through the end of the season.

Speaker 4 (01:05:42):
Dana Brown. I can't say for sure.

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
I think he's gonna make it too, but this is
more Joe Aspada. They're gonna get some players back. You
got Jeremy Penya coming back. You got Jake Myers coming back.
Hunter Brown's supposed to be mid June, so that's about
a month away. They're going to round into form to
get to five hundred ish. Jim Crane is not a
rat guy. He doesn't just want to do rash things.
They're gonna turn it around enough to where Joe spot

(01:06:05):
is going to keep his job till the end of
the season. Now after that, of course, I don't know.
I'd probably guess he's gonna be gone. But I say
Joe Spota makes it through the one hundred and sixty
two for the Houston Astros.

Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
You don't believe one of these, huh? I only believe one,
all right?

Speaker 2 (01:06:22):
Uh, Johnavan, you and I cannot debate because I believe
that Ross and I talked about this off air, So
I'm gonna recuse myself from giving you my answer until
you're done with yours.

Speaker 6 (01:06:31):
So I hate to do that to you. But no,
that's fine, that's fine, that's fine. I'm I'm up in
air for two and four. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
I know Ross has been very Oh let me right,
let me write my big.

Speaker 6 (01:06:44):
Defensive on you know, Espata. You know, don't blame the manager.
The players got to got to execute. But Jose on,
somebody's that twenty four hundred hits and he just got hurt.
That's I don't think he's gonna get it. I don't
think it. But I don't know if Ross thinks he's
gonna get a dozen hits. And that's the way I'm

(01:07:05):
falling apart right now?

Speaker 2 (01:07:09):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:07:11):
If I lose to Ross's questions, is that worse to
listen to him?

Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
Wait?

Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
Do I get two points? Hold on?

Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
Hold on now, I believe there should be some additional
value in going and at your competitors straight on when
it even when the rules are changed.

Speaker 4 (01:07:25):
But I'm not the judge.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
We'll figure it out.

Speaker 4 (01:07:29):
Got my hands up, not touching that.

Speaker 6 (01:07:31):
The safest one is that Ross does not believe Jose
al two is gonna get three dozen hits, So number.

Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
Two, I also believe that Ross believes that Jose will
not get the three thousand hits.

Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
So I will go right there with you at number two.

Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
It gonna be a bad song. Could get this one
all right? Dang you guys got no faith in Spencer Arraghetty.
Huh at me either? I think you look at the
xcras and the x fips and stuff like that, he's
been extremely lucky. I think he could He could very
well have an e ra A Round three for the season,
but I think there's impending a blow up or two
so he could get They're a human Yeah, yeah, he's

(01:08:07):
a human being. Even if he hits around three fifty
or under four, that's gonna be a good season for
Spencer Arrogatty. I do think he'll be under four. I
don't know about three forty, Okay, uh yeah. If if
I'm gonna tell you on one hand that Joe Spot
is making the season, then they're probably not selling off
Christian Walker very could well be to be traded away,
but I'm not gonna like guarantee you that he's traded away. Well,

(01:08:32):
so I'm gonna go with the That was the one
I don't believe either. Yeah, how about this one? Boys,
We can obviously say this for gut feelings. If there
is a player to be moved, who's the Number one
isn't parides on the top of the ball.

Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
We'd say Walker or Paradus Walker.

Speaker 2 (01:08:46):
See, I think parides is because A he's cheaper, B
two he's younger in three multiple positions.

Speaker 4 (01:08:51):
Yeah, that's true. Control show. Yeah, but Walker has been
great to at first.

Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
He's been yeah, okay, all right, So that one's so
it's down to the last.

Speaker 4 (01:09:01):
I think.

Speaker 2 (01:09:05):
Jim Crane is going to do everything in his power
to get hell two of eight of three thousand hits.
He's gonna trot him out there, like up to age
forty five. They're gonna get him there. It might take
longer than we think. And I know we did talk
about this earlier, Matt. This is why I threw you
a curveball ballasall you threw me a curveball. You threw
me a circle serve change because we talked. We talked

(01:09:28):
about it, and I was like, I don't know that
he's gonna get there. But I didn't say he's not
getting there. Oh he's he got me.

Speaker 4 (01:09:34):
So you look here.

Speaker 2 (01:09:35):
Look I didn't touch it. I didn't te number four.
I think they do turn it around a little bit.
You get hunter brown back tats you and I will
see whatever, but Burrows Arraghetty Lambert, they can at least
get to five hundred ish and then because what what's
it gonna help to get rid of Joe Spata. I
don't disagree, and I think again, I think they're gonna

(01:09:57):
have it's the fans will riot. If JOSEL two is
not allowed to get three thousand hits in an Astro's uniform,
he's gonna he's gonna be like Craig Biggio at the
end of his career. He's not gonna be a plus player.
He's gonna be a minus war player. I do not
get him there. I agree, I do not under any
circumstance one jose to be wearing another uniform besides the Astroeah.
There you go, So what was your truth? Joe Spotty

(01:10:22):
makes it through the year. I feel like I got
Hoodwink done this one. Jonathan is during a break man
and I talked about it. I was like, I don't
know if he's gonna get there because of the oblique.
You really think that spot was gona say if they think, yeah,
I could be wrong. No, No, I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (01:10:41):
I'm with you too.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
If these if I did those if you if I
said those four things, I would have said the fourth thing.

Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
The thing I would have believed was.

Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
I'm way wrong. Then no means you're a wise man
hanging out with the right people.

Speaker 4 (01:10:53):
Damn it all right. That was to tell the truth.

Speaker 7 (01:10:59):
By the way.

Speaker 4 (01:10:59):
All right, so Jonathan, you're just have you have you
won in the last month. I like to get two
point two points that may. I haven't won since March.

Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
Dude, I think I got I think I get two
points now right, I think two points?

Speaker 4 (01:11:10):
No, just kidding out of it. Don't worry market zero dude.
It's okay. Just like the Astros, we got we got time.

Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
Baby, It's okay. It's all right there it is uh
seven one three two one two five seven ninety seven
one three two one two five seven nine.

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
If you want to get in.

Speaker 2 (01:11:27):
Whooa phone lines open? Maybe phone line? Oh but y'all
got notnhe of y'all's mind and the way to do
that in phone line over? Man? Whoa wow?

Speaker 4 (01:11:35):
Doing all the batt rouge, KB, We're going.

Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
To potty what I'm saying this game? Baby. By the way,
Shout out to l s U Master's degree graduate Shaquille O'Neal, Yes,
good for him. How many degrees does he have now
because he didn't well, he graduated Police Academy, right, and
he has at least two degrees from l s U. Right.

(01:11:59):
He's probably got about a handful of honorary DJ school, Yeah,
DJ and Shack Beesel by the way, he was asked
about uh, and my wife told me this is the
story this morning. And when he flies commercially, he flies
first class, his kids flying coach.

Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
You know, he's a penny pinter. Would I do this
exact same thing? Where else could he go? Though?

Speaker 2 (01:12:21):
Has to be in first class. He's seven foot or whatever.
Well he's also big too. Yeah, he doesn't have a choice.
So that's the reason why probably he doesn't watch the
NBA because he's too busy, uh, working on his graduate.
He's talked about like saving all his money and his
philanthropic efforts and stuff like that. He's very money conscious.
Good for him.

Speaker 4 (01:12:41):
Yeah, he's on like a million commercials too.

Speaker 2 (01:12:44):
Yeah, a foot powder, Micey Mott, that general, dude, Dad General,
Like he's America's pitch man. Doesn't he sell like a
Shackarni a pizza or something like that? And more commercials
than Shack.

Speaker 4 (01:12:54):
Right now.

Speaker 2 (01:12:55):
Yeah, he's got to be up there. Charles Barklay's, Sina's
and a Bunch. Yeah guy is he? Yeah, I don't
watch WWE z on everything there. Well, he's the voice
of a dealership. Oh that's right, Johnson and Johnson baby oil.
I think he's been doing what's wrong with you in
the in jorts, Jinko Jorts. I should just shouldn't even

(01:13:16):
bring up wrestling to you because it's just he's on
the road game recently as well.

Speaker 4 (01:13:19):
Right, that's enough. I'm sorry. Eleven forty six.

Speaker 2 (01:13:26):
Eleven fifty three on Sports Talk seven Huntings. We know
that you guys, most of you cannot call, but if
you can call, you're always welcome to come in. Now,
we may argue with you, We may think you're the
callers the worst ever, that could be the case right
here with online one Ross, let's go to it. Can

(01:13:47):
you may? I mean, pound for pound, Jym's calls are
generally speaking, horrific.

Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
Jem I hope you're having a great Monday.

Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
How are you?

Speaker 8 (01:13:57):
I'm doing good? Because you know what happened on Saturday,
Way on wayno chicken dinner at the gamblers win, but
that's not why call them good?

Speaker 4 (01:14:03):
Thank god?

Speaker 8 (01:14:04):
Because why why does Joe A spot a continually want
to go with a six man rotation? He's only probably
got four starters that you think when they're going they
can actually win, and he wants to keep the six
man rotation. Do you have any idea why he just
didn't go with the four man rotation?

Speaker 4 (01:14:18):
You know, first of all, there's as a foreman rotation anymore.

Speaker 8 (01:14:22):
So well there what used to be you can do In.

Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
Nineteen sixty eight, there was a good team James.

Speaker 2 (01:14:28):
In nineteen sixty eight, there was a former twenty twenty James, uh,
I don't know if you know. You woke up in
twenty twenty six today and Leo Durocher is not just
going to go in there and rip everybody, and yeah,
what was your rosier class?

Speaker 9 (01:14:39):
You love?

Speaker 2 (01:14:41):
The players are all multimillionaires. You can't just flip tables
and rip everybody. And yeah, it's not it's twenty twenty six, James, James.

Speaker 8 (01:14:49):
Okay, well, why don't you just change your theme music
when Joe A Spot is on? Just change it to
it's Joe's spot at time, it's Joe's Spot at time. Everything,
it's just fine. It's Spot's time.

Speaker 4 (01:15:04):
Or anything else. Jan no, God, no, do not let
him speak anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
It is Joe's spots. That's that's what we're doing. Everything
is fine, Joe knows everything. God, that just shows you.
James calls suck and he kind of delivered.

Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
Yeah, let's not. Look, I'm James. I've been defending you.
You're making it difficult. Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:15:23):
Do you think do you.

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Think Joe thinks everything is fine and it's cool to
be nineteen and twenty nine?

Speaker 4 (01:15:28):
Well that rhymes too. Oh my god, stop rhyming.

Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
You know what.

Speaker 4 (01:15:32):
It's nine.

Speaker 2 (01:15:34):
No, no, no, don't do it, neither one of you.
He knows everything's not okay. Let me tell you what.
Let me let me tell you what Joe is Spot
is thinking. And he would never say this. I'm gonna
lose my job in the end of the year. That's
what he's thinking unless things turn around dramatically and quick.
Because all these guys hurt and they suck. What do
you want him to do? Come out there and say, uh,

(01:15:56):
Tom tattoo Emi is a soft ab and Peter lambertons
he said is a spare part and Mike Burrows came
over for the Pirates and he's terrible. You want to
call everybody out. He last my colors gives me one
good start a month. Hey, at least it was good
last time. I least start light. Yeah, it's good. Oh

(01:16:16):
my god, what are we doing?

Speaker 9 (01:16:18):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
You gotta grass for straws.

Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
We can't get way.

Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
When you can't get a quality start, you gotta go
for a light one. Spencerraghetty's the only one giving you
any quality starts. Mike Burrows didn't. Then he got shelled
on Thursday or whatever.

Speaker 4 (01:16:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
Yeah, the pictures, the pictures all suck. He's gotta go.
He's gotta go. High leverage. Brian King five out saves,
that's his fault. Bray, you got you a four out
seven today, Brian, A freaking Brady. Who's gotta give you
four out saved to win any of these games? You
think Joe Spotta wants to be there, No, he wants
Hunter Brown for seven, he wants to Brian and Bray

(01:16:53):
of Old for the eighth, and he wants Josh Hater
for the ninth. When he doesn't get any of that,
would you like today's edition?

Speaker 7 (01:17:00):
Damn?

Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
An injuries suck, So Altubey goes und the injury list, right, Yes,
so Jeremy Pinion comes back in and clearly replaces him. Well,
guess what if al Tube wasn't hurt? Paynia comes back
and guess what you get to do with Cam Smith?
You get to send him down to Triple A because
he's now betting under two hundred for the season.

Speaker 4 (01:17:20):
His ops is just above six hundred. That's not going
to happen.

Speaker 8 (01:17:23):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Maybe now if Myers comes back to maybe you can
send Cam Smith down. You have Cam Smith oh for two,
Bryce Matthews two oh four. Bryce Matthew is he? Is
he your second basement for the next few weeks? I okay,
I will say this about Joe spot it. Why is
Bryce Matthews leading leading off? Why is the we're saying

(01:17:46):
the player I want to get the most played appearances
today is Bryce Matthews.

Speaker 4 (01:17:50):
I don't agree.

Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
I can I tell you when Jeremy Penie is back,
this will not be any okay good? I know it won't,
but you're saying never ever, there's no good okay. Otherwise
it's going to be Zach Cole or the Sun. The
line up yesterday had tremendous holes in it, because again,
guys that need days off, you had in your line
up in one day. Read this lineup? Can you just

(01:18:11):
read it?

Speaker 4 (01:18:13):
Stay with me on this, folks.

Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
Bryce Matthews at second, ord On Alvarez second, Christian Walker
Betting thirty, Zach Colt, great kid, hit a home run
on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
What did you do yesterday? Colt? He struck out twice
a O for four. Here's your clean up hitter.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
Zach Descenzo is your five hitter, you know, Brendan Shoemake
Brendan Braiden, Braiden whatever, Come on, Matt Braden Shoemank.

Speaker 4 (01:18:39):
Aggie Legend is your sixth hitter. Cam Smith, who.

Speaker 2 (01:18:44):
Is all right, says ourselves, I'm not done, and then Nick,
don't call me.

Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
Zach Allen bet in ninth.

Speaker 6 (01:18:53):
But the thing about Cam Smith, I'm confused about what
the narrative of him, what what should the aswer should
have done last year? Because I keep seeing on social
media that he should have never even been in the
big leagues.

Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
He said, oh no, no, no, that's a revisionist history.

Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
That's what everyone wanted him out there.

Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
Everyone wanted Cam Smith to start immediately you can't put
the kids of phenom. I'm betting on him for Rookie.
We multiple callers, I'm betting on him for Rookie of
the Year. Camp Smith is the real deal.

Speaker 6 (01:19:21):
Well, well now because he's slopping, they're like, well, they
rush him to the big.

Speaker 2 (01:19:26):
I'm just confusing. No, No, it's a revision is history, Jonathan.
I'm glad you're getting a You're getting a good lesson
in n Astro's fandom and fantom everywhere, everybody wants some rushed
up and everybody's, oh, you gotta do it, you gotta
do it. Dana Brown will be an idiot not to.

Speaker 4 (01:19:37):
Put camp Smith up there.

Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
If you took air checks off our show a year ago, March,
if if if if, If Cam Smith is not a
part of his team, Dana Brown should be fired.

Speaker 4 (01:19:49):
Yes, you know what, We'll be honest with you.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
Part of me thinks that Dana got caught up in
the public fatuation of him. Maybe. Well also they didn't.
They were looking for a spark too. They didn't have
a whole a lot of other options. It's not like
they had to.

Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
Is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 3 (01:20:17):
Gosha Yoka, His second home run of the season, and
it is eight nothing, Rangers, Bross.

Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
If you were to name yourself a dinner, if you're
a legal name, what would you call yourself? I don't
even know how to respond to this question, Jonathan, you
go first, brisket intil hotas. That's me. It doesn't does
it get more Texan than brisket into If you were

(01:20:57):
to name yourself a food item, what would you call
yourself as a name as an artist? Like meet lof
roast beef? Yeah, I don't think I have a go
with roast beef, big burger, big burgers compared to what
a slider?

Speaker 4 (01:21:11):
Yeah yeah, I like that.

Speaker 6 (01:21:13):
A quarter pounder, double quarter pounder, that's day's presence, big burger.

Speaker 4 (01:21:18):
Yeah that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
I think I'd call myself the Texas Rabbi. Okay, guys,
thank you very much. Yes, it's fine. You know, mister
Texas had to be at the game on Saturday, Rangers, Astros,
you were You're not mister Texas.

Speaker 4 (01:21:38):
I was there. I was there. But here's a park
like measure text to good to see you.

Speaker 2 (01:21:45):
You don't believe me to you? No, that's good, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:21:48):
Twelve nine.

Speaker 2 (01:21:49):
Let's get to the news.

Speaker 4 (01:21:51):
And Ude.

Speaker 2 (01:21:53):
Yes, Matthew, Well, the news at Nude will start with
the series of highlights. You just heard Ash Rose take
two out of three against the Texas Rangers take the
two to one lead in the Silver Boots Series. I
had to triple check this. The Astros have won the
Silver Boot Series nine years in a row. That's true.

Speaker 4 (01:22:11):
It's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:22:13):
Well, think about the last time they were winning was
when the well know they've been They've been good for
nine years. So uh yeah, if you go, if you
they won it in twenty three. But then, I mean,
the the Rangers of course trump do you because they
won the ALCS four to three and then went on
to win the World Series.

Speaker 4 (01:22:28):
So they do have that.

Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
Obnoxious Rangers fans going home sad two out of three.
But unfortunately yesterday eight nothing victory. Peter Lambeau was a
Lambeau for four ending because he was no hitting the Rangers,
and then unfortunately things came apart and then he got
the bases loaded there in the seventh I believe, and

(01:22:51):
then Cody Bolton came in and gave a bunch of
runs and they lost eight to nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
Did not score.

Speaker 2 (01:22:56):
I mean, it was a minor league lineup it was,
you'd be like, what the heck is this if it
was if it was spring training. Unfortunately, Astros at nineteen
and twenty nine, Matt, you're gonna go with their only
only five back rather than they're already five back. Correct,
So when I say somebody's five back, don't I tended

(01:23:17):
to think it's more glass half full than glass half empty. Yeah,
but it yes, in May, I mean, I'm sorry, in
July or August, oh, you're only five back. I feel
like in May it's a little early to be five back.
Mariner's only two back, Rangers only one back. That's thing too,
you're five back at the age you also have to hop,
you have to hop three teams.

Speaker 4 (01:23:35):
To win the division. Welcome back Jerry Payney this week.

Speaker 2 (01:23:42):
And jose L Twovey left the game with an oblique strain.
They're calling it a Grade two two oblique strain. Well,
he had been slumping and he is, I mean, objectively,
by the numbers, one of the worst second basement in baseball.
So not my book, I know, not in your book, Matt.
Mattalytics says, I love him. Yeah, Matalytics are always way off,

(01:24:03):
but that's okay.

Speaker 4 (01:24:04):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (01:24:04):
Analytics have him doing a lot better, and there you go. Also,
Matt in the news, well I should also say the
Astros are in Minnesota for a three game set.

Speaker 4 (01:24:15):
Tattoo on the mound tonight. How we feeling? Give me
the line? Do it all right?

Speaker 2 (01:24:22):
It is? I'm writing this down. Write it down, Jonathan.
I want yours too. Not going five? I think you
know what you know what? Shut your bum ass up?
I got him going five exactly on the nose, yes, okay,
anything you get over five, I get five and under. No,
I didn't say that. Okay, where are you? How many

(01:24:43):
you you say how many innings he's going?

Speaker 4 (01:24:47):
Uh? Oh, hell, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Four?

Speaker 4 (01:24:52):
All right, I'll get the over four.

Speaker 2 (01:24:53):
That's fine.

Speaker 4 (01:24:55):
What's the bet?

Speaker 2 (01:24:55):
Beget chips? I'll bring you. But you're gonna give him
a banana?

Speaker 4 (01:25:02):
But I don't want your banana? Why not?

Speaker 2 (01:25:06):
It's delicious, it's sweet. It's got a little bruise on
the left side, but it's fine. Okay, that can be
fixed with antibiotic, can not? No one will get checked out. No,
I just dropped it.

Speaker 4 (01:25:20):
Ah, it was just was just flopping around, is ever
what it was?

Speaker 8 (01:25:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:25:24):
I dropped it.

Speaker 2 (01:25:25):
It's fine now, okay, let's move eat around it, not
eating around your banana.

Speaker 4 (01:25:31):
I'm gonna beat your Banana'm gonna eat the whole thing.

Speaker 2 (01:25:34):
I eat around it loose at noon. Please so bad?
We're so juvenile? Yeah, I love it. Okay, Well, what
are we talking about?

Speaker 7 (01:25:48):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:25:48):
I'm sorry? Five innings, pitch three on runs.

Speaker 2 (01:25:51):
By the way, remedy runs uh oh uh four runs,
so that would be a quality start. Zero sure, man,
mine wouldn't be five and three earns. That's what I'm
gonna go with. By the way, Recovery for a Grade
two oblique is typically three to six weeks, depending on severity,
treatment and adherence to rehabilitation protocols. Okay, well, I don't

(01:26:12):
think two days is gonna He's gonna add here the protocols. Imagine.
I believe it would be accurate. Yes, uh, by the way, Well,
a couple things. Let's start with the NBA news shake
elges Alexander back to back, MVP Matthew, Yes, your thoughts?

Speaker 14 (01:26:28):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (01:26:29):
Deserving, so deserving of it? Yeah, he gets it.

Speaker 2 (01:26:33):
Cavaliers whax the Pistons one twenty five to ninety four.
In Game number seven, we are set for our Eastern
and Western Finals. Spurs Thunder tonight on NBC Thunder minus
six and a half got feeling Thunder win game number one,
and as a matter of fact, I will give that.
I will give the Spurs the points, doesn't matter. I
almost need this to tell the truth. But I swapped
to all Astros just for fun. Yeah, uh, thunder and five.

(01:26:58):
I know that's interesting. I know it's spicy. The chalk
would be thunder and six or seven, but I think
you and I know the Spurs had a lot of
success against them in the regular season, but that's the
regular season thunder and five.

Speaker 4 (01:27:13):
All right, we're in twenty twenty six. Do this? Does
Oklahoma City win two more titles before twenty to thirty?
Please tell me no, But you can say yes.

Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
I'll say one, I'll get the Hey they get three,
I'll say they get three. And that's dynasty, right, three
makes dynasty regards the dynasty. Yeah, sorry, Astros. So the
Astros were not a dynasty. They were a decade of success,
but maybe not a dynasty.

Speaker 4 (01:27:35):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:27:36):
Were the Braves in the nineties of dynasty? They won one,
but man, they were in the playoffs every single to you.
I feel like you get to be a true dynasty.
You gotta win three.

Speaker 4 (01:27:45):
But I gotcha. It's tough in baseball as well. Okay,
uh yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:27:49):
And then you have Cavaliers Knicks Nicks minus seven and
a half in Game one tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
So there you.

Speaker 2 (01:27:55):
Think the Knicks win the East. I think you're right.
I think you're right. That'll be interesting, and that'll be
a bunch of insufferable national people that are like my
niggaboca is are winning and old baby, whoa what?

Speaker 4 (01:28:13):
My heart jumped out of my chest? All right?

Speaker 2 (01:28:15):
Moving along, the Nashville is expected to host Super Bowl.
U what is this sixty four? It's sixty four and
twenty thirty. Let's get rid of the by the NFL voters.
I got at a new stadium right, Yes, they are there.
You go, that makes sense. I got a hot take.
Can we get rid of Roman numerals? And just in general?

Speaker 4 (01:28:36):
I think it's unique to that it's literally only the
Super Bowl, but it makes.

Speaker 2 (01:28:39):
You, I don't know, it just feels like it's a
lot of extras saying Mamy one other time you see Roman numerals?

Speaker 4 (01:28:46):
Can your dissertation help me out? Houston.

Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
Where else do we see Roman numerals besides Super Bowls?
I mean maybe if it's like a big clock or
like ah in a church, the big twelve.

Speaker 4 (01:28:58):
Maybe a church.

Speaker 2 (01:29:00):
Yeah, no, you're fine, we know we don't have to
get you can you can deal with them once a
year at the Super Bowl. Okay, Fine, it's sixty four.
I figured it out. Okay, and what else? What else?

Speaker 4 (01:29:09):
It's time for a break.

Speaker 2 (01:29:10):
Let's do it all right on the recorded line seven
one three two one two seven ninety seven one. Ules're
wanna talk about Jose Marino coming back to Real Madrid.

Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
That's pretty crazy. Who and what Jose Mourinho.

Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
One of the most successful managers of all time going
back to Real Madrid, basically the biggest club in the world.
Trying to make an analogy, Maybe be like Joe jour
already coming back to manage the Yankees. I don't know
soccer people help me out at sports Harvy, Nope, I
got physicians coming coming to help me out. This would
be like Bill ban go ahead. This would be like

(01:29:43):
Bill Belichick coming back to coach the Who's the best
team in the NFL?

Speaker 4 (01:29:48):
The the Seahawks.

Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
Who's the biggest brand Cowboys Cowboys would be Bill Belichick.

Speaker 4 (01:29:53):
Come out for the Cowboys. Really? Sorry, go ahead, there's
your analogy. Thank you the marketplace.

Speaker 2 (01:29:58):
I'm gonna give you soccer analogy to refer to the
NFL except this one seven one three two one two
five seven nintie seven one three two one two five
SEVENI just to make sure you knew what I meant. Knickerbockers,

(01:30:18):
that's their name. Yes, Then the name of the basketball team.
The name of the basketball team, the New York.

Speaker 4 (01:30:27):
Nicks.

Speaker 6 (01:30:28):
Yeah, let's go with that.

Speaker 4 (01:30:32):
That's the last thing I need or anybody who that matter. Yikes, No,
thank you. Just to be clear, by.

Speaker 2 (01:30:39):
The way, batter Doug comes in Roman numerals and books
and of course Chicago album titles.

Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
About that, okay?

Speaker 2 (01:30:47):
I was, uh so, Cameron, I'm Holdness and I went
to the Astros game on Saturday. We were talking about
how there are certain bands that reinvent themselves to either
stay relevant or to sell albums, and the number one
group that came to mind was Chicago. You listen to
a Chicago song in nineteen seventy three, twenty five to

(01:31:08):
sixty four, or Wishing you were here feeling stronger every
day is a lot different than hearing you're the inspiration
when a little young rock.

Speaker 4 (01:31:17):
Yeah, well they went croonering is what they did.

Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
Peter Setara is like, we need to make some money
and we need to do this with top forty hits,
Hard Habit to Break Chicago. Little known fact. First concert
I went to live with the band. Now, I did
see Captain Taneil when I was four years old. That
was more of a July fourth celebration in Detroit. Okay,

(01:31:40):
this was the I saw Chicago at the Summit in
nineteen eighty six. I think it was after Chicago thirteen.
I think was the album name.

Speaker 4 (01:31:50):
Okay, that's all I got free on that.

Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
I'll take your word for it, and I'll give you
another band that reinvented themselves in order to make some
money and a lot of us because the band guys
were all getting sick. The Doobie brother You listen to
all black Water, that's good signif a different damn different
than what a fool believes. Hmmm, Okay, so that's all.
I'm trying to look up other bands that really changed

(01:32:13):
their sound. Oh, this is a good one. The Beatles
changed their Stafferson Airplane. Yeah, but they more evolved. Yeah,
they didn't do it to say they were selling a
billion records and no matter what they did, they sold them. Yeah,
they wanted a change to kind of do what they
wanted to do, and then they became even more more successful.
Who else Jefferson Airplane to Starship? People are saying by people,

(01:32:33):
I mean I just read it got you? Uh, who
else really changed theirselves? Would you say Elton John changed
this way? He's his song really big rock and roll
to more of a crooner towards the end, take about
of evolution or doing it just.

Speaker 4 (01:32:49):
To sell records?

Speaker 2 (01:32:50):
I guess Billy Joel to Billy Joel changed himself much,
not really, Yeah, I mean he made that one up album,
but it was terrible. But we were in the car
and during the seventy minute drive home, which was we
were dropping f bombs the whole time, and two of
us were and I put on.

Speaker 4 (01:33:06):
Oh here's a good one, go.

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
Ahead, but put putting Chicago's like, that's the same boat said,
that's the exact same band.

Speaker 4 (01:33:12):
I know.

Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
People talking about Taylor Swift starting off country, I don't
now did she just evolve or did she change this
all right, last thing about music, and I saw move on.
So Carly had her party yesterday. Do you ever really
sit back and listen to Taylor Swift's music? No?

Speaker 4 (01:33:30):
Do you know? And again this is gonna get the
Swift He's all mad at me. Here we go.

Speaker 2 (01:33:34):
It's and Jonathan backed me up on this.

Speaker 4 (01:33:37):
Please, well the headphones down here, isn't it?

Speaker 2 (01:33:40):
Literally? Songs about breaking up with boyfriends A lot of them. Yeah,
I mean eighty percent of her songs are that way. Yeah,
about men problems in coming to aids. Yeah. Yeah, But
basically it's you left me at the front door. I
was sad, then I got mad, and then I sang
about you.

Speaker 4 (01:33:59):
You know, I'm just throwing things out there. That's pretty good.
That was awful.

Speaker 2 (01:34:03):
Actually, I can sell out some stadiums, man, I cannot
sell it state. I could not sell out stadium I've
been I get, I get it's not for me. But
she's so wildly popular. I tried to understand and do
listen to a lot of different spheres of music. Yeah,
and I just haven't gotten around to it because it's like,
but I sat, we were getting ready for the party,
and I'm listening to song, and it was like you

(01:34:25):
left me, and then I went down and then I
was sad, and then I went around and then I
thought about what you did to me, and I'm the one.
It was like Jesus, it is really about her writing
about a guy dropping her and just think.

Speaker 6 (01:34:38):
I mean, that's why she's very popular. Mainstream girl problems,
you know, just m dude la now again anything.

Speaker 4 (01:34:50):
I don't I don't dislike her.

Speaker 2 (01:34:51):
I mean when the song comes in the car, I
don't get it, but I don't like this is don't
turn it off.

Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
I don't turn it off. I don't I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
I don't think of ever been in a car when
I've been driving and Taylor Swift has come on.

Speaker 4 (01:35:02):
You don't need to hang out with Carly Thomas because.

Speaker 2 (01:35:04):
Unless maybe it was like a Sunday nine nineteen point
one and her Christmas she got a Christmas album I met.
I'm sure she does okay. By the way, I was
watching Sunday Today yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:35:14):
Uh boublay.

Speaker 2 (01:35:15):
You know that Michael Bublay. Of course, Michael Bubley. He's
probably the I mean most famous and relevant crooner of
the last twenty years. All he does is sing white
Christmas and and he's making.

Speaker 4 (01:35:29):
He just does stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:35:31):
Yeah, he just does like big band of Frank Sinatra,
meltor may D Martin stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:35:37):
It's carved on a nice niche for himself.

Speaker 2 (01:35:39):
He's not as good as any of them, but he's
the best going now. Yeah, you're doing quite well. It's
like I'm saying. He was on the Today Show yesterday
He's like, I'm thinking about doing some country. I'm like,
why are you jumping off that beat? Go go back
to what your roots are.

Speaker 4 (01:35:54):
Darius Rutgerd did it post.

Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
Malone, Kennick Lamar No, uh, Shaboozy boozy, Yeah, I forgot
about shaboozy all right.

Speaker 4 (01:36:08):
Paul and Myerland at twelve twenty nine high.

Speaker 5 (01:36:10):
Paul, they quick thing on the band Chicago.

Speaker 4 (01:36:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:36:14):
So Jimmy Hendricks was in La back and I think
it was like sixty eight or sixty nine for Chicago
was even heard of. He caught their show. He went
to them after the show. He said, man, your horn
section breathe was one lung, and your guitar player.

Speaker 2 (01:36:30):
Is better than me.

Speaker 5 (01:36:32):
You want to go on tour?

Speaker 4 (01:36:34):
And the rest was history. Wow, that's a nice poll.
Thank you for telling us about that.

Speaker 2 (01:36:40):
Wait, Jimmy Hendricks played with Chicago or he went and
saw Chicago like he saw them and found them. Oh, okay,
apparently there's a long mini series about Chicago the band
that CN ended a few years ago.

Speaker 4 (01:36:53):
Everyone's been saying, you get to watch the documentary on Okay,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
To me, I'm I'm much bigger fan of older Chicago
than and then they haven't putting out new it lately.
But okay, Chicago's song I'm throwing the Bay song, there's
Saturday in the Park.

Speaker 4 (01:37:10):
Oh, that's a good one. Twenty five to sixty four.

Speaker 2 (01:37:13):
Uh, you're the inspiration and that's that's the crooning of
version wishing you were here? That's I love that one.
But that takes a long time to get people to
get into. So I'm more of a Hendricks guy than
a Chicago guy. Chicago's fine, I would go see. I
mean they tore all the time, they do, I don't remember.
I don't think that's many. Also, we'll set the number

(01:37:34):
at one point five. Oh, you're sitting there sing a
half a body comes out? Never I got you, I
got you all right?

Speaker 4 (01:37:41):
Back to sports?

Speaker 2 (01:37:43):
Please, what are we going to talk about our squad
just lost.

Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
Ain't nothing to that. Can't break down yesterday's game. You
certainly don't.

Speaker 2 (01:37:53):
Don'tant to look at the box score. Yeah, it's eight
zero and that was it was not a good lineup.

Speaker 4 (01:38:04):
Do you want to stay away from Sunday games? What
do you mean? Just not watch them? Gordy takes them all?
Or go to them? Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:38:12):
I liked a little mid day I like a little
midday baseball action.

Speaker 3 (01:38:16):
Think.

Speaker 4 (01:38:17):
I think Sundays are great chill days to go to
the ballpark. Yeah exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:38:20):
Then you go home and you settle your affairs and
get ready for sleep. What exactly what affairs are you settling?
You know, Sunday stuff, you know, doing laundry or doing
dishes or whatever. Nap Sunday. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
Watching the PGA Championship this weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:38:32):
I have no clue who won or was I have
didn't watch a second of it.

Speaker 4 (01:38:37):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
I watched the NBA semifinals Eastern Conference. I didn't until
I fell asleep because it was like thirty points. I
watched the Astros and I watched the semifinals. I mean,
so I watched six hours of sports. You did your job, Yeah,
thank you for doing your service, all right, twelve thirty two,
Sports Talk seven out of UNI. Sound like on a

(01:39:00):
nice may day running your errands can't get you fired
up for the weekend, or like a Saturday in the park.

Speaker 4 (01:39:07):
Yeah, it's nice.

Speaker 2 (01:39:11):
That's a nice light easy.

Speaker 4 (01:39:14):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
Jam Bross's perfect picnic basket in the park on a
Saturday is what's in it?

Speaker 7 (01:39:24):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (01:39:24):
In the in the picnic basket? Oh, like a charcooterie.

Speaker 2 (01:39:27):
Some I don't know you you create the menu, a
sub sandwich, sub sandwich and grapes and cheese. Uh, fried
fried chicken?

Speaker 4 (01:39:36):
What the hell? Potato salad either flavor mustard or man cold?

Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
I mean your chicken is gonna cold by the time
you get out there, right if you go pick it up.
So you're going, you're heading straight from the Kentucky mind
micken onto the to the picnic. Or I could go
to the grocery and get it done.

Speaker 1 (01:39:56):
Chicken.

Speaker 2 (01:39:57):
Okay, you're gonna spin it out, you know, on this
pool at the picnic.

Speaker 4 (01:40:01):
That's right, that's right. I like to grill at the park.

Speaker 2 (01:40:06):
I well, I cook myself and bring a picnic basket. Yeah,
I just go with a sandwich. Maybe some chips or
some grapes, some fruit cheese, absolutely, okay, some groug Yeah,
you just wanted to say that, Yeah you seven one
three two one two five seven ninety.

Speaker 9 (01:40:27):
Great.

Speaker 4 (01:40:29):
Yeah, it's a fun word.

Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
It is a fun word from Monda, not a great word.
Seven one three two one two five seven ninety. Keith
is with his son, the Matt Thomas Shoulder Ross Keith.
Good morning, You're good afternoon to you.

Speaker 4 (01:40:43):
Hey, how y'all doing good?

Speaker 11 (01:40:47):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (01:40:48):
I heard Jawn talk last week about trading UH one
player head up for Victor. I don't know there's two
players that I trade head up for Victure. I don't
know he got jobbed on the MVP because he does
way more for San Antonio than that person that won
the MVP. All he does is his score in UH

(01:41:12):
Fight five Victor. Victor scores, He blocked shots, he gets rebounds.
He's a monster. There's nobody and head up that you
would could trade for Victor. And I don't think there's
two players that you made up HI hit up for Victor.

Speaker 2 (01:41:27):
I think they do it for Shay and Holmgren. What
do you think did we bring that up, Matt? No, well,
we brought it up last week, is there a single player,
And the answer was, we could not find the team.
We could not remember. There are other teams that would
do it. It would be whether the Spurs would do right.
So the question would be with san Antonio, would san
Antonio trade Victor wember Yama for Shake Gilder's Alexander?

Speaker 4 (01:41:49):
Straight up, No, they would not.

Speaker 2 (01:41:52):
If you threw Cheded Holmgern in the mixt my guess
the answer would be they probably would do it.

Speaker 7 (01:41:56):
At that point, man, nobody goes to see Oh, okay,
see the go see Jay Gilgia's Alexander, But people all
over the world will go to see san Antonio. Yea,
but he is the face. He's the face of the NBA.

Speaker 10 (01:42:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:42:15):
That also has to do with the fact that, I
mean he's seven foot four. He's just he's more of
a freak of nature than Shay Gilders Alexander is. Alexander's
just is a more skilled, especially offensive player. The only thing, hey,
let me tell you seven, thanks Keith for the phone call.
The only thing that's holding will ever hold Victor back.

(01:42:35):
It will be something that will be discussed with every
basketball player that's over over seven feet tall and that's health.

Speaker 4 (01:42:40):
M hmm.

Speaker 2 (01:42:42):
It's hard to be seven one, seven to two and
not have some role in the NBA, whether it's as
a rebounder, whether it's a shot blocker, whether it's a finisher.
I mean, look, Rudy Gobert wins Defensive Players of the Year.
It's not because he's got this great intuition where to be.
He's just got long arms and a good body.

Speaker 4 (01:43:02):
Well he's got great intuition too, man, come on, he does.

Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
But he also would have won it every single year.
I know, Joe Chi would have won. Five eight foot
wingspan and he's he's like in China, back in China. Yeah, yeah,
what where where did he did he finish?

Speaker 4 (01:43:21):
Second? What was the voted?

Speaker 2 (01:43:23):
I don't I don't even know if they release And
then injuries have already been an issue seventy one games,
forty six and sixty four in three years, and will
if and when he'll break down. But the Spurs are
aware of acutely aware of it as we are. They're
trying to do everything they can to limit his minutes,
limit his exposure out there on the floor.

Speaker 4 (01:43:38):
No, he he.

Speaker 2 (01:43:40):
He always teaving boy his Zion Williamson Wenby's nemember playing
seventy games in the year he already did. I'm talking
about again, Okay, yeah, and I don't have a problem
with that. Yeah, what were the ailments this year? I
wonder if he would have got because he's got to
at least to get to sixty five because they want
to get having awards, So he can't play five more
than that.

Speaker 4 (01:44:01):
I think you can do seventy depending on what.

Speaker 2 (01:44:02):
Yeah, I mean, I think seven is reached. But but
they're gonna make a concerted effort.

Speaker 4 (01:44:06):
I think. I think for the rest of his life
they're going to worry about his minutes.

Speaker 2 (01:44:09):
Yeah, he will have it be you know, like, for instance,
a man played thirty six minutes a game that will
never be on Victor Weben. Ever, I don't think so either.
Speaking of a man, I want to talk to talk
to you about this. I talked to you about all air,
so Asar Thompson for those of you that watched, and
I don't.

Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
Know how many of you did, I'm unfortunately OK. But
that's we're still going to talk.

Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
He'll bring it home to a man. It's fine, Amanda
a sar these twins and I don't know Asar at all.
I've never met him. I love I personally love a man.
He is such a good dude, and I just love
just about every aspect of his game. The other the
one obviously aspect is the field goal shooting outside of
twelve feet, it's very limited.

Speaker 4 (01:44:52):
There was somebody on.

Speaker 2 (01:44:53):
Twitter or maybe it was a podcast that was crushing
the hell out of a Sar saying, go go shoot,
Go learn how to shoot, because you're holding back Detroit
because of the fact that you don't have a shot.
And I asked this to Ross all Fair, and I'll
ask it on air here. Did you have to learn

(01:45:16):
how to shoot? You you just aren't born with the
ability to knock down fifteen foot shots?

Speaker 4 (01:45:24):
And I know Amen's work ethic. I don't know a Sars,
but I'm going as soon since they were bros, they
were little twins, they played on the same teams, they
did the same things, their top five picks, they have
work ethic they do and thrive and top five picks
and thriving in the NBA, but they still have the
same ailment And it's crazy. How do and if you

(01:45:45):
don't know the answer, that's okay, But how do they
have the same ailment.

Speaker 2 (01:45:51):
And it's not Rossie. It ain't just not being a
good three point shooter. It's outside of twelve feet. The
Detroit Pistons have the same issues with a Sar that
the Rockets.

Speaker 4 (01:46:03):
Some Rocket fans feel about a man.

Speaker 5 (01:46:04):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:46:04):
I think a men's a better ball handler. I think
a sar probably a little bit better defensive player. But
it's not like a men's not a good defensive player.
A men can play four positions. Asar cannot. I mean,
they both have incredible, incredible skills to their game, but
they both share the inability to hit shots outside of
about twelve feet, and that's that to me, is is

(01:46:25):
a tough pill to swallow. They've been playing ball since
they were probably three or four years old. They've been
playing high school ball. They played the AAU Circuits, they
played the G League, and yet you got two amazing
basketball players. Two guys are going to be insanely rich.
Asar is defensive Player of the Year. A man may
win it at some point in his life. But the

(01:46:48):
outside shot neither one of them can can brag about
at this point. Isn't that crazy to you?

Speaker 4 (01:46:54):
Both? About twenty five percent?

Speaker 2 (01:46:55):
Well, they are identally identical twins, so they're identical genetically.
It is interesting as this year far into their career
that they haven't either of them, then they just might
not have the capability. How many how many times has
giannisitentha Kumpo tried to work on his shot or whatever
be a three point shooter? He never really turned into
a three point shooter. I think he's had a good
stray year here or there. The crazy part for me, though,

(01:47:17):
is their twins. Yeah, is that in the cool I
don't know. Maybe it'd be crazier if one of them
shot forty and the other one shot twenty five. Yeah,
because you didn't say, well one of them put me
put more work in the other.

Speaker 4 (01:47:28):
What's the deal.

Speaker 2 (01:47:29):
Yeah, but there's no doubt in my mind they both
one of the Morris twins is a better shooter than
the other. Right, was it Marcus or Marquis? I can't recall.
That's a great question. I don't do a deep so
we have to look at other twins. Yeah, Giannis is
the entire career twenty eight and a half percent. I'm

(01:47:49):
trying to think how many twins and sports have there
been and do they have the same characteristic seth and
Steph Curry are great shooters, but also so was their father.
Everybody's got ceiling at some point of where, Like if
you and I went in the NBA, we wouldn't shoot
twenty five percent from three, no matter how hard we worked.
Twenty five percent three maybe is a little better than
we think, just because of how good these guys are. Yes,

(01:48:10):
Steph and Seth they're not twins and they're not, but
they're great shooters. Both the Barrys kids were all great
shooters like their dad. Oh maybe some of this is genetic.
I don't know, but it's it's maybe mister Thompson not
a great shooter apparently, but it's like, I can't imagine
mister Thompson going. Kids, go run those dribbling drills, Go

(01:48:34):
work on your defense.

Speaker 4 (01:48:35):
No, of course, tif you shooting, we're good.

Speaker 2 (01:48:37):
I see before every game you see him and Thompson
out there getting up a bunch of shots there were
he works on it. Sometimes everybody has a ceiling somewhere,
and unfortunately, some of that's the lower spectrum.

Speaker 9 (01:48:48):
Right.

Speaker 2 (01:48:48):
If somebody can there, if they can practice until they're
blue in the face, they'll only shoot twenty five percent. Otherwise,
is is Steph Curry is he's just the greatest shot
practicer of all time, or there's some genetics to it.
Of course there is, because he's also an insane golfer.
He's just got insane hand eye coordination. But you would
think for two guys that the hardest part of their

(01:49:09):
sport isn't hard.

Speaker 4 (01:49:10):
Isn't defense harder than shooting in therey?

Speaker 1 (01:49:15):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:49:15):
I think I wouldn't. I wouldn't say it's harder. It's different.
I look, you have to be you have to be strong, athletics, smart, positional,
and but there's nothing they have extreme quickness, there's nothing
enjoyable about there's an instinct about it too, like a men.
Thompson could cover the whole floor when he's just like
and he's on his game. It's crazy Aucer as well,

(01:49:37):
Kenny Atkins said after the game, we built our whole
offensive game plan by wherever Auscer is throw the ball
away and get to give it to somebody else.

Speaker 4 (01:49:45):
And that's what shows you. That shows you how elite
he is on that end of the floor. But the
core of the sport requires you.

Speaker 2 (01:49:52):
To put the ball in the hoop and sr and
a men a man still gets to nineteen points a game,
despite the fact doesn't shoot very well.

Speaker 4 (01:50:00):
I mean inside twelve eety's fifty five percent.

Speaker 2 (01:50:02):
This is crazy.

Speaker 4 (01:50:03):
Yeh, it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:50:03):
He's a auscers only at ten points a game, and
men's like what he was eighteen eighteen, seventeen eighteen this year. Yeah,
it's just it is weird how those two guys are
so good at their sport at the same age, literally
the same birth, one few minutes after the other, and
both teams. I mean, if Detroit Sports Radios today is doing,
how are we going to get a Storr to take

(01:50:25):
the next step? Gotta shoot better. I think there's people
that are Rocket fans that are here waiting a long time.
All right, twelve forty eight on Sports Talk seven ninety
seven one three two one two five seven ninety If
you want to jump in seven one three two one
two five seven ninety all right, wish Missing You is
coming up at one thirty. We'll check on former astros

(01:50:46):
see how they're doing. I believe, oh, I know for
a fact that from Bravaldez starts tonight for the Detroit
Tigers after his six game suspension. I thought he got
another start already, or did he okay? Or did he
find out more tonight or this afternoon?

Speaker 7 (01:51:04):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:51:04):
Or in thirty six minutes? Yeah, this afternoon.

Speaker 2 (01:51:06):
All right, let's go to be everybody north shore big
What do you got today?

Speaker 7 (01:51:13):
What's going on with you?

Speaker 8 (01:51:14):
The hold on?

Speaker 12 (01:51:14):
Let me let you my partony talk too.

Speaker 9 (01:51:17):
Yes, I wanted to.

Speaker 12 (01:51:18):
I want you to.

Speaker 10 (01:51:19):
Take a poll because numbers matter in this situation, because
to make it factual, you know, I want you to
go and take a poll and see do TJ deserve
his money?

Speaker 7 (01:51:32):
Right now? I can better hear.

Speaker 2 (01:51:36):
You, c J Stroud?

Speaker 4 (01:51:41):
Yes, we're settling an argument? Anything?

Speaker 2 (01:51:44):
Are you guys arguing? Why are y'all at the barber shop?

Speaker 4 (01:51:47):
What's going on?

Speaker 12 (01:51:47):
When I say a lot of people feel like he
wants his money, that he should get his money now,
I told him half the city explit, So that's what
we're talking about. He said, you've never met anybody who
said CJ deserves his money?

Speaker 4 (01:51:59):
Now, well, what kind of hold on?

Speaker 2 (01:52:01):
Hold on?

Speaker 4 (01:52:01):
What kind of money are we talking about? Give me
some dollar figures?

Speaker 12 (01:52:04):
His new contract? We know, we know the baby Bend's contracted,
the new one. It's coming up. I don't agree with him.
I mean, I agree with him that he needs to wait.
But there's a lot of people who disagree with me.

Speaker 7 (01:52:17):
And I'm on.

Speaker 12 (01:52:18):
Twitter taking Twitter all day arguing. So that's what I'm
telling him.

Speaker 10 (01:52:21):
He says, everybody on your show, that's why we're calling
your show. Majority on your show?

Speaker 4 (01:52:26):
All right, all right? What are what are our names?
What hey hold on? So y'all so down? What are
our names?

Speaker 12 (01:52:35):
I said, fifty percent of the people wanting to get it.
The other fifty percent want us to wait, and let's
see how he play.

Speaker 2 (01:52:40):
Biggie, what's my biggie? Biggie, what's my name? Was nervous
there for a minute. I was all nervous, Thank you, biggie.
All right, bigg em, I'll let you. Who's the other
guy with you there besides Biggie? What's the other guy's name?

Speaker 12 (01:52:55):
My partner man? It's detail man Denails, Yes, sir, we
call him book.

Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
But where y'all worry?

Speaker 9 (01:53:04):
All right?

Speaker 4 (01:53:04):
Now, are y'all at the office. We're y'all doing no.

Speaker 12 (01:53:08):
No, we're sitting in the look at me, right by
the barber shop in the hood.

Speaker 11 (01:53:11):
This is when we all sitting in here arguing about this.

Speaker 2 (01:53:13):
I was like, I want to come to all barber
shop I want to gut. I love getting mute. Good
y'all do a straight razor shaved down as a barber
shop man.

Speaker 8 (01:53:23):
We will take care of you.

Speaker 12 (01:53:24):
We will take care.

Speaker 4 (01:53:25):
That's what I like to hear.

Speaker 2 (01:53:26):
All right, Okay, it's mobile, come to the house.

Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
All right, all right, we'll see you, biggie, Thank you
very much.

Speaker 2 (01:53:36):
And that these nails La denails d nail also known
as book.

Speaker 4 (01:53:44):
But I want some nicknames like that too. Oh, we've
got a lot of nicknames.

Speaker 2 (01:53:50):
I don't like any of the horse man, my god,
mister beach basket. No, not that one. I'm gonna.

Speaker 4 (01:53:59):
I'm gonna presuming he's thinking fifty million dollars a year?
Would that be in? Uh? Does he deserve it? Or
does he? Is he going to get it? Asking?

Speaker 2 (01:54:09):
Are are most people saying? Is it split that most
people say he needs to get paid? I would say
it's probably eighty twenty say he doesn't need to get
paid right now, and I think maybe even eighty ninety ten.
And I think that ten percent saying if you don't
pay him now, you're eventually gonna have to pay him,
and it may cost you more money.

Speaker 4 (01:54:23):
In a couple of years.

Speaker 2 (01:54:24):
Yes, But I think David Mulageda and his people are
saying he needs to get paid. But I don't think
most Texans fans are saying pay CJ.

Speaker 4 (01:54:32):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
It would be very difficult to go pull up. Should
c J shroud get paid now?

Speaker 4 (01:54:40):
Do it or later?

Speaker 11 (01:54:42):
Well?

Speaker 4 (01:54:42):
How do I even phrase this?

Speaker 7 (01:54:43):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
Problem is we got at a dollar weight. That's people.
People are gonna call me a clown like they did
when I asked about brown gravy on chicken fried stick.
They're like, you idiot, why would you put brown gravy?
I'm like, hey, it's not me. It's not me. Okay,
I'm getting attacked. So you know what you put? Yeah,
you put it on your your Twitter. This is my
show topic. I'm tired of getting attacked. It's enough. I

(01:55:04):
don't want you being intacted with brown gravy exactly over
your your terrible food opinions. And then I put a
pole up. I always get attacked about your terrible opinion.
Shut up number two? What was my opinion about brown gravy?
You love it on a chicken Fry's steak? Did I
say I prefer it? Do you love it on a
Chicken fried steak, or don't you?

Speaker 4 (01:55:21):
I do? Okay, but I also love cream gravy on
a Chicken Fried's steak.

Speaker 2 (01:55:24):
Okay, you're wrong. Oh I can't. Oh, you're now gravy
shaming me. You're getting gravy shamed and we just we
just created something brand new. Hey, you're seven. I have
you ever been gravy shamed? Eighty four percent to sixteen percent,
Jonathan preferred brown gravy. He's the one that really got
me in trouble. But I address I thought you said

(01:55:48):
you preferred brown. No, that's true. I'm just saying, Okay,
oh yeah, we just asked your opinion. It's fine. I mean,
if you want brown gravy, it's fine, it's ok.

Speaker 9 (01:55:55):
Good.

Speaker 2 (01:55:57):
But I would say the majority of people to answer
and books question, the majority of people do not want
c J.

Speaker 4 (01:56:04):
Stroud paid. Right now.

Speaker 1 (01:56:07):
Is the Matt Thomas Show with Ross.

Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
What O five on Sports Talk seven ninety. Man and
Ross with you here until two p m. Today we
got Missing You coming up at one thirty.

Speaker 4 (01:56:25):
Believe it or not.

Speaker 2 (01:56:26):
Today one fifty, let's talk to Willy and friends. Before
we get into a little conversation about our good friend
jose L Tuova, Willie, good afternoon to you.

Speaker 9 (01:56:34):
Good afternoon to you. So, yeah, we were watching the
game yesterday and how two day. It's so frustrating. He's
played for years. The pictures know what to throw to
him because he's going to go after it and if

(01:56:54):
it looks like get the foot off the plate and
then ray yesterday he leaches for it and throws his
body into all kinds of Torqus no wonder if he's injured,
he might as well just strike out. I mean, that's
what I feel about a lot of the batteris why
are you going for pitches like that? I guess he
did strike out on that pitch, but will.

Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
Will no, no, no, you're talking about the first on what
was Saturday.

Speaker 4 (01:57:17):
Second of all, it was a ground ball that he
didn't run out. And third, you've watched jose L two
V play.

Speaker 2 (01:57:23):
He's one of the best bad ball hitters in recent
Major League Baseball history. So if there's anybody that I
would trust outside the zone on this current rine up
and really over the last ten years, it's probably Josel Twov.
Would you not disagree with me or agree with me?

Speaker 9 (01:57:37):
I guess, well, most of the time I would, but
I swear yesterday there was a pitch he went after
and that was when he when he pulled something as
a bleak yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:57:48):
It was on Saturday. He didn't play yesterday. It was yeah,
he didn't play it.

Speaker 9 (01:57:54):
Oh, okay, all right, Saturday. Then I'm sorry. That's that's right,
that's right, I'm mistaken, right, but too many games running through.

Speaker 8 (01:58:02):
Like I.

Speaker 2 (01:58:05):
Know, at least you're a diehard for that. I will
appreciate with that. You're watching him good and bad. That
makes me feel good.

Speaker 9 (01:58:11):
Yeah, but anyway, it happened Saturday. Okay, So he went
after that pitch, but he does that constantly, and he's
gotten better this year at letting balls go by, you know,
with not swinging at everything. But this is for me,
it's so frustrating when you see that. Yeah, anyway, I

(01:58:31):
just wanted to make this one. I just want to
make this one comment. We were looking at the Cougars
yesterday and it looks like Sea Mac is leaving the
basketball team.

Speaker 4 (01:58:44):
Yeah, he declared. He declared. A long time ago.

Speaker 9 (01:58:47):
I thought he was still thinking.

Speaker 2 (01:58:48):
About know he know, he and Kingston Flemmings are both out.

Speaker 9 (01:58:53):
Yeah, and Sharp is gone and and Uh, I guess
Milow is gone too, right, Miles Susan Ye, yeah, so
we're basically gonna have any change.

Speaker 2 (01:59:04):
Yes, yes, but but you know what, but but uh
the money is good at you of h Chicken Noles
is gone as well?

Speaker 4 (01:59:13):
Get out.

Speaker 2 (01:59:16):
Every time you bring up Chicken Noles name, you get
a one game, one day suspension Without this, I won't
maybe bench of Chicken Noles.

Speaker 4 (01:59:22):
If you don't cousin discuss forget it. You can bring up.

Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
We have you made your Texas trip yet to London? Well?

Speaker 4 (01:59:33):
Then, well the time change?

Speaker 2 (01:59:35):
Did you book you? Did you book your tickets to London?

Speaker 1 (01:59:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:59:38):
No, I'm not going.

Speaker 2 (01:59:39):
You know where you're going? Come on now, No, I'm
not going trip to Jacksonville.

Speaker 4 (01:59:44):
No chance. Uh where are we going with this? I
felt like to yeah, Willie, uh yeah, the Coopers will
be fine. Oh. I think we got a lot of
money in the Cougar basketball.

Speaker 2 (01:59:56):
I mean, what do you mean cash infusion like from
Kellen Sampson, like the dollar mounts I'm hearing. Okay, somebody
taken care of the Sampson family. That's good, and thus
the members of the team. Okay, now them not being
nearly as uh, marketable as maybe previous years. Maybe you'll
see me more on ESPN plus games. So it's a
little bit of an indirect benefit just saying Okay, can't

(02:00:21):
wait to catch those. But josel to man, all right,
we're ready now with the oblique Okay, Jose to me,
and I've watched a lot of baseball.

Speaker 4 (02:00:33):
You've all to watch it. Watched a lot of baseball.
He's a bat ball hitter, has been.

Speaker 2 (02:00:37):
I'm not taking that out of his repertoire now does
it is the bat slower today than it was nine
years ago? But he's drawn more walks in the last
two or three years, and he certainly did in the
previous seven or eight. His walker ratio is up this
year ten point three percent from eight point four last year,

(02:00:58):
six point nine the year before. But the question is now,
with this oblique injury, and he is at twenty four,
twenty eight, two, four hundred and twenty eight hits, does
he get to three thousand now at thirty six years old. Well,

(02:01:19):
if he's averaging one hundred and fifty for the next
what four years, he.

Speaker 4 (02:01:25):
Comfortably gets there. How it's a grade too oblique string
he's going to miss some time here three to six.
As the doctors would say, this is not going to
be the last injury he has.

Speaker 2 (02:01:37):
There is there? Look last three years ops seven, ninety seven,
seventy one, seven oh six. Now the book is not
written on this this year. Correct, he can come back
and bounce back. Oh he's I'm telling you started off hot.
I think he's getting there. It's just going to take
a long time. And the most important thing for me,
Rossi is if he's going to do it, he needs

(02:01:57):
to do it in Aster uniform.

Speaker 4 (02:01:59):
I do not.

Speaker 2 (02:02:00):
I don't want the one off going somewhere else and
letting those folks whatever the city that is, celebrate his
success with three thousand. I think it would have to
be an Astros uniform for a couple more reasons, because
Jim Crane wouldn't want to let him go, and also
because I mean, like at the end of Craig Bigio's career,
it's not like other teams are banging down the door
to have him on their team. But it'll be curious

(02:02:22):
to see how much of a contending team the Astros
are in a couple of years, If they're gonna have
the hard reset this year or whatever, and continue to
put him out there if he's in an if he's
not competitive as a player, because we've already seen the
defensive flippage, we've seen the decline there to where they've
tried to stick him in left field. He didn't work.
Now he's back at second base and he hasn't embarrassed

(02:02:42):
himself like you say. But also if you look at
a lot of the defensive run saved out the above average,
he's not very good out there, and he's actually very bad.
The biggest thing going against him, honestly is if you're
not as the future DH and has been for quite
some time, right, you could easily stick out two ways
of DH every day and not worry about it, It's true,
But you can't do that if Jordan is going to

(02:03:03):
be the DH for the foreseeable future.

Speaker 7 (02:03:07):
How long.

Speaker 2 (02:03:08):
I'm telling you, some people want Jordon gone. He's out
two is gonna get there. It's just gonna be it's
gonna be a grind, and I think the oblique doesn't help.
He's got to try to stay away from the DL.
He's got to. Ultimately, I think the home run stroke
is largely not a part of his game anymore. He

(02:03:29):
only has had four home runs this year, so I
don't think he's swinging for the fences. He's maybe just
looking for more solid contact. He's still gonna play a lot.
I mean, when he wasn't taking a whole lot of
days off before this injury. Yeah, last year he played
one hundred and fifty five games, but I think that's
also because of the injuries. I think they wanted to
give him rest days, half days, you know, DHDA being
a half day, stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (02:03:48):
But it's just they just haven't been able to.

Speaker 2 (02:03:50):
Honestly, the best bridge from the greatest heyday of Astros
baseball to what the future will be will be jose
Al Tuvea.

Speaker 4 (02:03:57):
Think about it.

Speaker 2 (02:03:58):
I think they let him do it no matter what
I do too, So don't worry, friends, jose Al two bay.
It may take him a while. You may have a
few more gray hairs up on top, but our guys
gonna get his three thousand hits one thirteen on Sports
Talk seven ninety so I was gonna call talk to us.

Speaker 4 (02:04:16):
He's once to talk about Hoistale twov We'll get to you
guys as well.

Speaker 2 (02:04:18):
Seven one three, two, one two five seven ninety seven one, three, two, one,
two five seven, Nintie, Matt and Ross with you here
until two pm. A reminder once again coming up in
about eighteen minutes, Missing You, How are former Astros doing
around Major League Baseball? One thirteen seven one three two
one two five seven ninety Oh damn Gremlins, Mad Ross

(02:04:44):
with You. You're gonna be astonished at this week's edition
of Missing You.

Speaker 4 (02:04:49):
Really?

Speaker 2 (02:04:49):
Yeah, Okay, I'm ready to be astonished. I mean, as
that's maybe a strong term. I'm ready for alive or dead.
I I gotta crash and burn in the last one. Yes,
uh yeah. For those who we're gonna play believe or not,
I crash dinner alive. I will ask Ross first. You
don't have to listen to Ross's advice. He's just gonna
just jump in and try to play along with you,
so probably shouldn't listen either. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:05:10):
Wow, I have my advice now.

Speaker 11 (02:05:12):
No.

Speaker 2 (02:05:12):
I was on point for like a couple times in
a road to wear mats, like we're going to kill
the bit. I don't want to do the bit anymore.

Speaker 8 (02:05:17):
But you were.

Speaker 2 (02:05:17):
You were batting like nine fift I know, and then
all of a sudden, I just cratered like L two
vas ops. I know that was rude. I'm sorry, you know,
I apologize to the L two vay state. I'm sorry.
He was like an eleven. He was like an eleven hundred.
Oh ps, he was walking all over the place. We're like, oh,
it's a new out too.

Speaker 4 (02:05:38):
So the home run he had, the lead off on
run he had on Saturday was like the first home
arn he had a month. Is that crazy walk rate?

Speaker 2 (02:05:45):
Yeah, he had really high walk rates actually in twenty
twenty two and twenty three, and it took a massive
dip and then it bounced back this year. But unfortunately
to me, Josey will always be known as a free swinger.
To me, I don't know him any other way. Now again,
I will say this, when he was younger and getting
two hundred hits or spraying around one seventy five, he

(02:06:07):
would never take a walk. You'll be happy to hear
this matter. We have metrics on there. There's there's zones,
a swing swinging percentage at pitches in the zone, and
there's pitches swinging percentage outside of the zone in which
you got oh you're going to pull those up. We'll
talk to salth first, I thought you were about to
throw some numbers at it. I could, but it's like
I feel like, you know, it's going to get lost
in the sauce for most people.

Speaker 4 (02:06:26):
But you know, Sal with us on seven and eighty high.

Speaker 15 (02:06:29):
Sal, Hey, guys, I really enjoy hearing the Chicago. I
thought you guys might be playing a little bit of
George straight today since it has seventy fourth birthday.

Speaker 4 (02:06:38):
I did not know that. Happy birthday to George. Yep.

Speaker 15 (02:06:41):
Anyway, you guys were talking last week about Dusty Baker's podcast.

Speaker 2 (02:06:45):
Yeah, and I actually did watch that.

Speaker 15 (02:06:48):
And I'm thinking that Al Tuve is going to have
to go the way that Billy Wagner went, probably have
to wait ten years for the Hall of Fame or
maybe the Veterans Committee.

Speaker 2 (02:07:00):
I know I'm gonna I'm gonna stop you right there.
No chance, no way, no how He's getting in the
Hall of Fame. He will not have to wait. In fact,
I will even tell you I'll go one step further, Soal,
I will bet you an order of uh, what's the
what's the place in Orlando that serves the ribs? Mickey's no,

(02:07:20):
oh god, oh whatever, I'll figure it out. Or I'll
bet you a barbecue dinner at that barbecue chain place
in Orlando that he is a first ballot Hall of Fame, Diesels,
pig Floy's all right, well okay, no way, no way,
Veterans Committee, Shrimp Company.

Speaker 15 (02:07:39):
No, well, I'm just going by older abouse. He's taken.
He's born, the brunt of the whole science steel man.

Speaker 2 (02:07:45):
And you know what, though, fans don't get devote, it's
the human beings that get devote.

Speaker 4 (02:07:48):
It's it's the respected baseball reporters. Uncle Tony.

Speaker 15 (02:07:52):
I just look at Wagner, took so many years to
get in. I was thinking al Twove is probably gonna
take a few years, and I hope it doesn't go.
Now the other thing talking about fans, will he be
booting Cooper's town when he gives his acceptance speech.

Speaker 4 (02:08:07):
No, because people want that rude. Well you never known, Sonny.
We're going to We're going to Sunnies for a rack
of ribs your trait.

Speaker 15 (02:08:16):
Okay, that sounds good when you were in town with
the rockets.

Speaker 2 (02:08:19):
Check, yeah, it's right right there, you go, thank you.
So No, no, dude, please don't.

Speaker 4 (02:08:24):
Let that happen. Look, have you met baseball fan.

Speaker 2 (02:08:29):
Have you met them? They don't know. They're booing because
they were told by their buddies that Josel t Bay
did something. There was literally a Rangers fan. I was
at the game at Saturday. He was about one row
behind him, screaming at the top of his lungs. Cheater, Cheater, Cheater,
Hot Mike, Hot Mike. And then Josel Tuvey hit the
leadoff home run. Every time a fan does that, go

(02:08:51):
ass Yankee Stadium fan. How that works?

Speaker 4 (02:08:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:08:54):
Then he then he asked for a seat change. He
left because everybody's screaming at him. It was good.

Speaker 4 (02:08:59):
Good for them.

Speaker 2 (02:09:00):
Yeah, that'll be. We'll all mention that again on Wednesday.
Oh no, we got to do a shut your bum
mass up on Thursday this week because we have an
early day.

Speaker 4 (02:09:09):
We got a few things.

Speaker 2 (02:09:10):
I was gonna mention it on deck you shut your
bum ass up, brought to you by Uptown Appliants Repair.
I think it's a smart idea. Yeah, Brian bogus Emson
to join us tomorrow. As a matter of fact, as well,
a really short day we have been I think an
hour and a half show and an on deck starts after.

Speaker 4 (02:09:24):
That, so that's that's a shame. It's not a shame.

Speaker 2 (02:09:28):
We love days.

Speaker 4 (02:09:30):
We love day baseball or time to watch Laurence.

Speaker 2 (02:09:34):
I knew you were going to say that he's Jonathan.
I'm sitting in here. I watch he's finishing his sentence.
His eyes gravitate like a moth to a flamel, like
he's about to say something. Aout Laurence shotty, and then
he did. I mean, she's looking good, but you know,
it's what it's worth. He hasn't said as much as
he did last year.

Speaker 4 (02:09:49):
I know.

Speaker 2 (02:09:51):
Yeah, it's because of the season desist. She does like
sidelines for like TBS. Right, sure, why not? You know?
No time of show went out either yesterday and I
don't know. But if she does, we can't get it
on the show. No, I can't. We can't get on
the show. It'd be uncomfortable. No, I'd be very I
would be uncomfortable. Why would it be uncomfortable for me?

Speaker 4 (02:10:11):
Because med ogles her every single day?

Speaker 2 (02:10:14):
Professional weird? Come on, you want me to be professionally weird.
It's like if you call I don't know a phrase
woman every day and then you interview.

Speaker 4 (02:10:24):
Wed, who's the highest woman alive right now in life,
my girl. There you go, smart man number two.

Speaker 2 (02:10:31):
It's the hard one. I'll come back to you, all right.
If Beyonce walked in and said, come over here, John,
let's talk about my music, I would you couldn't handle it.
Her music is, that's what I would want to talk
about that. Come on now?

Speaker 4 (02:10:44):
Is that right?

Speaker 6 (02:10:44):
That's the once in life opportunity. She's gonna be in
timeless artists since like three thousand. Okay, that's like if
you saw the Beatle Berry Man Lower. You know, somebody
right man come up to you and he wants to
talk about music, you you can oh.

Speaker 2 (02:11:00):
No, well, but yeah, because I'm not sexually attracted at
Barry Manilow, Beyonce walks in the studio, h Jonathan, it's
an interview in the studio, would be weird. It's kind
of tight quarters. Hey Jonathan, why do they call you
hug nuts? What would you do?

Speaker 4 (02:11:17):
You'd melt like a buttery laughing there he's playing cool.
He wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (02:11:26):
I can't say on the radio perfect y'all gonna scare
them him away? Okay, in all honesty, if here here's
my list of people I could not have a conversation
with Okay, Paul McCartney walks in. I would do a
Chris Farley impersonation. Remember that time you sang with John Lennon.
I would do that, would be that, it would be

(02:11:46):
the Chris Farley Show. Yeah, he might fall asleep too.
That's because of you, Matt. No, he's just in his eighties. No,
he he was on the Saturday Night Live. He's sang
three songs on Saturday. Yeah, how did he sound terrible? Okay,
and tell him that, But why don't you bring that up?
I'll be like, Laura, welcome to the show. Laura and I.

Speaker 4 (02:12:07):
You don't know this, but you're a huge part of
our show.

Speaker 2 (02:12:12):
Oh why Ross Well pinch Ted Thomas over here. That's
a question for you.

Speaker 4 (02:12:18):
What do you say?

Speaker 2 (02:12:19):
No, as a matter of fact, Lauren Shatti will never
be on this show. It's just it's just safer that way.

Speaker 4 (02:12:25):
It's safer for everyone.

Speaker 2 (02:12:26):
All Right, missing you. It's up next six on Sports
Talk Sevendi Snight all right, every Monday at one thirty.

(02:12:48):
And we will do this with NBA players is great,
NFL players.

Speaker 4 (02:12:52):
Uh huh.

Speaker 2 (02:12:53):
And we do it obviously with the Major League Baseball
season underway. We take five former Astros, and there have
been more than five, but at this point the five
that the most relevant when we no disrespect to George
Springer or to Garrett Cole or who else is out there?
Who else is in former Troy Hawkins, he's long retired.

(02:13:18):
Who's the reliever for the Astros? That just it's back
in the big leagues after being gone for a while.
Luke Fregerson. Oh, they give Brandon be like a deal.
Brandon be likes triple A. So there is somebody that
used to be. It's somebody that y'all help me out.
Tw there's somebody that's back in the big leagues at
Robertosuna No, stop stop asking what trying to think? Here's

(02:13:45):
nay use that name of reliever? But he was, uh
when was he on the team? What era last five
within the last five years? Y'all help me out. There's
somebody back in the big leagues. Okay, we'll move Briandon
Brady is back in the big league. Hector Neares, no
Rafiel Montaro, no film Aton, Nope, right Stantic No, it's okay.

(02:14:12):
By the way, a great chat by you, mineral lever
spots Starter I want to say, Okay, Brad Peacock.

Speaker 4 (02:14:26):
Nope, all right, here we go again. I'm impressed.

Speaker 2 (02:14:32):
Here what we got we're missing We're not missing Brad Peacock. No,
we're not missing him. Oh come on, Twitter, help me out.
That's it, Kristophinski. You only know he's back because of
the incident. Yeah, Kristophinski, So I was sticking up. He's back.

(02:14:54):
All right, here we go, Alex the circle change, fall
away change, Alex Bragman ross a week for the Chicago
Cup basement eleven for thirty three.

Speaker 4 (02:15:04):
With the home run three Ribbies. Wow.

Speaker 2 (02:15:07):
On the season, just four home runs, just sixteen RBIs
just a two fifty nine batting average, just an ops
of seven fourteen?

Speaker 4 (02:15:19):
I ask you, are you missing?

Speaker 9 (02:15:20):
You?

Speaker 4 (02:15:20):
Missing him?

Speaker 2 (02:15:22):
I would say, now with L two V down, Yes,
could use infield help. Cray up for the year and
L two V down. I'm missing forgetting about the home
run totals. The RBI numbers are low. Where's he batt
in Atlanta? Typically, I don't know. I don't watch a
lot of Cup games.

Speaker 4 (02:15:35):
I don't know that. Hey, Sue Sanchez of the Toronto.

Speaker 2 (02:15:39):
Blue Jays, Oh you gotta you perked up?

Speaker 4 (02:15:43):
A little bit.

Speaker 2 (02:15:44):
I think it's been a big one. I'm gonna predict
a big week for Razeus six for seventeen Oh okay, yeah,
no home runs, two ribbies, yes, five home runs on
the year nineteen RBIs. He has more home runs and
more RBIs than Alex Bregman does. That's what got me
interested in this. The important question is does he have
more than Joey lo berfdo?

Speaker 4 (02:16:03):
The answer is yes?

Speaker 2 (02:16:04):
On that?

Speaker 4 (02:16:04):
Oh great? How many home runs in the year five?
Damn two fifty nine?

Speaker 2 (02:16:08):
In the batting average twenty exact same betting average, He's
a slightly lower ops than Brigman does at seven oh four.

Speaker 4 (02:16:15):
So I ask you ROSSI are you missing him? Yes?

Speaker 2 (02:16:19):
Now did you see yesterday's lineup? I might say yes
to everyone? It was sayar Salas are Nick Allen in boys? Okay,
the next one I'm gonna do. I don't want y'all
getting mad at me, but here we go. Do you
got Mauricio Dubon?

Speaker 4 (02:16:32):
Oh, kra Mini four for twenty eight?

Speaker 2 (02:16:37):
Okay, it's bad. One home run, that's good. Five Ribees
for the season, three home runs, twenty five RBIs. He
has more RBIs than Bregman and Sanchez do. Batting average
is dipping to two forty five. The OPI is now
it's six ninety two. I ask you, are you missing

(02:16:58):
Mauricio Dubon. Yes, I'd still rather have him than Nick Allen. Sorry, Nick.

Speaker 4 (02:17:02):
Nick has made a couple of slick plays. Nick can play,
he can defend.

Speaker 2 (02:17:05):
He's got I don't know if I say this about
another man, but he's got soft hands what you need
in the middle infield like he's he's just he's skilled.
You don't need to preface it. Yeah, there are things
that need to be preference in the show. Soft hands
is not one of you know what I mean when
I say in Infido has got soft hands.

Speaker 4 (02:17:21):
That's exactly right. No need to preface. Kyle Tucker seven
for twenty two, about three hundred right, give her take? Okay, no,
actually a little about three twenty right?

Speaker 2 (02:17:33):
Yeah? No home runs three ribs. Who's this, Kyle Tucker? Okay,
four home runs this year? That's it? Oh, I think
you said this week I'll jump twenty three RBIs okay,
two fifty nine. The batting average ops of seven sixty six.
I got well jamsis.

Speaker 4 (02:17:51):
Oh yeah, Gamsmith's line.

Speaker 2 (02:17:54):
So, yes, I'm missing Kyle Tucker, but it's also you
get you get Esac too. I'll say still, yes i'm
missing I'm missing him objectively, but if I'm missing him
for Smith and Paradis, I'll say no.

Speaker 4 (02:18:06):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:18:06):
So from Rivaldez served a suspension, then he came back
to that suspension and hitched against the Mets or the
worst teams in baseball. Six innings, two runs, five hits,
seven k's no decision Fromber on the ear, two wins,
two losses, area of four point five two.

Speaker 4 (02:18:23):
I ask you, are you missing from Valdez?

Speaker 2 (02:18:27):
Yes? Sorry. I know he lost his mind in one start,
and he's had a couple of blow upstarts.

Speaker 4 (02:18:33):
But overall I would take two and two. You know
what you know I would take for Ramber is pause.
His lengths.

Speaker 2 (02:18:42):
You like Fromber's length, good pause, Thank you very much.
You can't use it for Friday even I'm not even here.
So you like Fromber's length, that's what's wrong with that.

Speaker 4 (02:18:52):
I like his length in the mound. You like his
length on your on the mound. Oh, I'm sorry. That's
why Laurence Shott he is not coming on the show.
She hears you, and shea's I'm not. Oh, it's my fault.

Speaker 2 (02:19:07):
Really, yeah, not the person drooling all over the microphone's
put it. We have to put in a trouble ticket
for you shorting out microphones with your drool. It's just
a few drops, all right. So we've decided we're missing Frommer.
We're missing Tucker. We are definitely missing Tubon, Hayesus Sanchez
and Bregman. Eh No, I want Bregman and I want
Jesus outfield Indian Field. See yesterday's lineup, I ask again,

(02:19:31):
all right, you're very right about that. Bryce Matthews, Jordunon Walker,
Cole Zenzo Shoemaker, Smith Salazar, Allen.

Speaker 4 (02:19:40):
That was the lineup.

Speaker 2 (02:19:43):
You can tell me. I'm not miss I'm missing everyone.
I'm missing them all. They're not making the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (02:19:54):
See injuries too. I'm sorry. Hey, only five back, it's
been a theme of today's show. Already five back? No,
only not already? I said, only.

Speaker 2 (02:20:06):
Okay, And that's this week's edition of missing you. Three
teams to hop. Yeah, the Indivision is fine. You're gonna
play those games directly, Mono and Mono.

Speaker 4 (02:20:17):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (02:20:18):
Oh, how'd that go with the Mariners and Rangers homestand
they went three and four, three and four. It'd have
been worse, could have been a lot worse. A lot
of people were already forecasting a position managerial change and
or general manager changes this week.

Speaker 4 (02:20:30):
Neither of them happened. I'm sad.

Speaker 2 (02:20:37):
Everybody's getting hurt. I think he's getting worse, all right,
Kerevin Pinion back this week, Jake Myers fan club is
getting back up and running.

Speaker 4 (02:20:46):
We're warming up the engine. Would you like me to
ask you a very rude question? Go ahead, Who's next?

Speaker 2 (02:20:54):
Oh? What the hell?

Speaker 4 (02:20:56):
So I said it was rude.

Speaker 2 (02:20:57):
We're gonna have Adrian Peters is gonna pull switch.

Speaker 4 (02:21:01):
He will hurt me too, for sure. All right? Uh
oh you had a Twitter person had a good point.

Speaker 3 (02:21:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:21:09):

Speaker 4 (02:21:44):

Speaker 2 (02:21:48):
Every day.

Speaker 4 (02:21:51):
Is discourse?

Speaker 2 (02:21:52):
That's like an eighth grade word? Come on, are we
coming after me for that one? When do you normally
use that?

Speaker 5 (02:21:59):
Man?

Speaker 4 (02:21:59):
It's good and that makes you sound smart? Okay, we
talk words.

Speaker 2 (02:22:05):
On things. Break it down for you, matt we'll go
to We'll got elementary school if we need to. Then
I guess.

Speaker 4 (02:22:16):
What grade level? It's the word I I know exactly discourses.
I just don't just don't know where to launch. It's
just a weird phrasing on that grade six to eight.

Speaker 2 (02:22:26):
All right, there we go. Sorry I stopped you in
your tracks. Uh oh, I'm looking at pictures of beans
and olives and feta. Oh yeah on the.

Speaker 2 (02:23:06):
Because yes, that was the point that somebody brought uh,
you know, and I'll give him a shout out when
I find his name, but appreciate that guy for listening.
Lockout could very well thanks to Jake lockout. It's a
good point we did not bring up, unfortunately, but lockout
could very well affect the jose Al Tove getting the
three thousand hits.

Speaker 4 (02:23:30):
I hope you're wrong. We have some good news.

Speaker 2 (02:23:34):
Is there any hope that we are in a good spot?
Organ of ord doing on deck today? The Adams, I
got your pipeline to success? What is it? Jason chiavi
vone the a ball player. He'd been mashing an a
ball like seventeen home runs. Yes, promoted to double a
Oh really.

Speaker 4 (02:23:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:23:52):
The the star power, by the way, for the Astros
organization pound for pound is at the woodpeckers a lot
at the lower level, which means maybe Data Brown's doing
a good job drafting. Will Denny Brown be around to
see these guys made fruit of his labors. Perhaps Jackie's

(02:24:12):
with us on seven ninety high.

Speaker 4 (02:24:13):
Jackie, Hey, Matt Hey.

Speaker 11 (02:24:17):
One of the i'll guess i'll call it the elephant
in the room talks is all of these injuries, and
we seem to have the most.

Speaker 2 (02:24:25):
In the major leagues.

Speaker 11 (02:24:28):
I think we have to say, what about the strength
and conditioning that they are getting in all of these injuries?
I mean, is could there be a failure somewhere there?

Speaker 2 (02:24:42):
I thought they cleaned out the strength and conditioning staff
matter some of them, right, Yeah, I don't know. I
don't know who's there and who's not. There was at
least some reshuffling, I think, yeah, I think from the
training staff for sure. I don't know how deep that
went into strength and conditioning because I can't answer that
question for you.

Speaker 11 (02:25:00):
If they really look at that, because I don't know.
These injuries just seem odd and way too often.

Speaker 2 (02:25:06):
Well, the thing about Jackie, and thank you for the
phone call. The at least the oblique is league wide.
There's guys left and right, and Joseel Twov's average batsby
is actually down this year.

Speaker 4 (02:25:16):
Funny enough, but I mean he got hurt either way? Yeah,
all right, alive or dead.

nothing here.

Speaker 2 (02:25:38):
You'll follow me on Instagram at sports MPT. Great things
